and then it backfiring because they realize, they're actually pretty nice and sweet outside of all the arguing.

giving them those boxed chocolates, but replacing the filling with something else instead (like wasabi for example lmao)

"you've been teasing me all this time about being single just for you to get stood up?" "....." "move over, you're lucky i'm hungry."

giving the other candies because it was simply "left over" and "definitely stale"

perfect chance for a little secret admirer thing to go on since one may be just too embarrassed or scared to face things head on

Cold Prompts

"Are you jealous of a warm water bottle?" "Considering how tightly you hold that thing… Yes."

It’s too cold to hold hands, but A still wants to be as close to B as possible while they walk through the streets.

"You better have a good reason for making me abandon my blanket/warm bed/etc."

"You said you’re cold." "Yes. But I thought you’d hug me, not make me do exercises!"

"It’s not that cold." "I can see your breath."

A wakes up in the middle of the night, freezing, as B stole the blanket.

"How many layers are you wearing?"

A nestles their cold feet between B’s warm thighs.

"Don’t—", A exclaims just before B tears back the blanket and exposes them to the cold air.

"I’m cold. Cuddle me."

A opens their coat and, while enveloping B, slings the material around them as well.

"You’d think you’d be used to the cold. What with you being an ice queen/your heart being colder than the Antartica and all."

A watches, amused, as B makes a run for the next rug/bed/etc. as they try to not touch the cold floor (too much).

"Just think about how warm it’ll be once we’re there." "And how’s that supposed to help me now?"

A puts their clothes on the radiator so that, when they slip into them minutes later, they are wonderfully warm.

"But it’s cold (outside). And, and… And my blanket would miss me. Do you want to break its heart by tearing us apart?"

A offers B their coat/scarf/gloves/etc.

A likes making B blush, but in the colder months, it also has the added benefit of them being able to warm their hands on B’s heated cheeks.

"Are you cold?" "No. I just love to shiver/dance on the spot and looking like an idiot."

"I’m nothing but a personal heater to you, huh?"

"Any longer on that radiator and your butt will start to melt."

"Are those gosebumps?" "Don’t flatter yourself. I’m simply cold."

A insists their (ugly) self-knitted socks are the only thing that keeps their feet warm. B is skeptical/disagrees.

A attempts to walk like a penguin to determine if said movement would keep them warm.

"Your lips look a little cold. Want me to warm them up for you?"

• person A begging person B for attention, but person B is working. after more badgering, person A agrees to call it a night if person B wins a game of tic-tac-toe, which of course person B keeps losing (lol)

Potential nessian prompt: overly affectionate drunk Nesta and Cas just taking care of her

“Cassssssssian,” Nesta slurred, giggling as she spotted her boyfriend waiting for her outside the bar. “You came!”

“Of course I did,” Cassian responded with a grin. He took a few steps forward and wrapped her in his arms. “I couldn’t leave the love of my life stranded, could I?”

Nesta had been persuaded into going out for Halloween, and she, Emerie, and Gwyn had thrown together a last-minute group costume before heading out for the night. They’d dressed as the Power Puff Girls, and Nesta had semi-ironically decided to dress up as Bubbles. She’d taken enough shots to no longer be self conscious about putting her hair into pigtails and wearing a skimpy blue dress, and she’d sent so many drunk texts to her boyfriend that he’d declared he was coming to take her home.

She’d readily agreed — she wanted those arms around her, but who could blame her — and having his warmth around her was more than enough to ward off the October chill.

“Gwyn and Emerie are still inside?” Cassian asked.

“Mhmm, with Azriel,” Nesta answered, tilting her face up to look at him. Her friends were even drunker than she was, but she’d made sure to tell Azriel that she was heading outside to meet Cassian. Even in this state, she wouldn’t wander off without telling someone sober where she was going. “Gimme a kiss.”

Cassian obliged immediately and leaned down to gently press his lips to hers. Nesta couldn’t help but smile after they’d pulled away, more than happy to let him lead her to the car and strap her in. The drive back to their apartment was quick and uneventful, and before she knew it, they were back in their familiar living room.

“Snacks?” Nesta asked hopefully once she smelled something good. She couldn’t tell what it was, just that it was warm and would probably taste delicious.

“Yeah, snacks,” Cassian answered with a little chuckle. He managed to get her seated on the couch before he kneeled in front of her to start taking off her heels. “I heated some pizza before I came to get you.”

Nesta just looked down at her boyfriend, captivated by how thoughtful he was. She just loved him so much, he was such a good person, he made her feel so safe, and he was so beautiful—

Why was her face suddenly wet? Was she… crying?

“Nes, baby, don’t cry,” Cassian replied as he slipped off her heels. He looked like he was about to start laughing, and Nesta was suddenly so embarrassed that she slapped her hands over her eyes so she wouldn’t have to look at his amusement.

“Don’t laugh at me,” Nesta demanded, but it really came out as more of a whine. She peeked at him through her fingers once some of the embarrassment had faded, adding, “I just love you so much.”

Cassian’s features softened as he rubbed the feeling back into her feet. “I love you too, sweetheart. You have no idea how much.”

“Really?” she asked quietly, dropping her hands from her face altogether.

“Really really,” he reassured her with an easy grin.

She melted at the sight of that grin and reached out to cup his face, marveling at the way he lit up at her touch. “You’re so beautiful.”

“Isn’t that supposed to be my line?” he teased.

“No deflecting,” Nesta told him, attempting to be stern. “I have the most beautiful boyfriend in the world. Take it or leave it.”

“I’ll definitely take it.” Cassian got up from his spot on the floor and smoothly picked her up from the couch, barely straining to hold her in his arms as he carried her into the kitchen. “Now come on, I want to get some food and water in you before bed.”

Gungrave fandom is small, kinda dead but somehow alive so, I thought, why not to make a prompt list for inktober, and so I did.

Anyone can join with any of art mediums, from pencil sketches, to paints, to digital art etc. You don't have to draw an art everyday if you don't want to, that's completely fine, or stick to the black and white palette (though it would be more traditional way to accomplish inktober).

I stood in the door way of the blacks kitchen, mily feeling out of place as everyone else laughed and sung. Leah Clearwater sat on the floor near the couch, looking perfect as ever, and almost as out of place as me. I watched her for a moment before turning my attention back to everyone else.

I hadn't realized how late it had gotten while I'd been staring at her; I only knew that the party was winding down and I still needed to get home. It wasn't really that late though—it was barely past 10 pm. Still, I didn't want to hang around and wait for the party to die. I decided to dip out.

I slipped through the crowd, avoiding eye contact with anyone. I walked past the living room, hoping that they hadn't seen me go. When Imade it outside the door, still standing underneath the eaves, I crashed into Leah. I stared into her beautiful auburn eyes as she took an awkward step back. "Hey," she said nervously, smiling.

"Hi," I replied quietly, suddenly unsure of myself.She fidgeted awkwardly with her hands and then looked up to meet my eyes. She seemed nervous. She glanced upwards, trying to avoid my eyes, I followed her and spotted the mistletoe hanging above us.

"Mistletoe," I sighed and looked back at her "You know what tha-" Before I could finish my sentence, she stepped forward so that we were face to face. Her soft brown eyes met mine. She leaned forward slowly as I leaned closer. Our lips brushed and my heart leapt. My arms wrapped tightly around her waist and pulled her flush against me.

"Merry Christmas." She giggled pulling away from me.

These were assembled for the HBO War Barely Coherent Christmas Chaos daily prompt challenge from December 1st through the 24th, 2022. Here they are in list format for ease of reference.

"I promise I'll still act surprised when I open it!" - Character A tells Character B exactly what to buy them because they're choosy about gifts.

One or both characters can't pass up the chance to offer commentary on the cheesy Christmas movie they're watching.

Character A tries to drag Character B into the festive spirit - by dressing up as Santa.

Slow dancing to old Christmas songs.

Cuddling in front of the fire on a cold night.

Characters A and B try to buy each other something at a Christmas market without the other person knowing.

Decorating the house their first holiday season after moving in together.

Snowball fight OR making a snowman.

Matching Christmas sweaters.

Christmas baking.

Snowed in!

Taking the annual Christmas card photo.

Competitive tobogganing!

Characters A and B just found out they disagree on whether ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey is the best or worst xmas song of all time. (Or, swap in your personal Christmas song pet peeve!)

Finding and opening a Christmas present early.

Unexpected mistletoe.

Character A bought Character B a gift, but two days before Christmas they realized that Character B already had one/really wanted something else.

Character A is going home for the holidays but their family are insufferable so they ask Character B to pretend to be their fake romantic partner. (It's fake dating: seasonal edition!)

Skating accident!

There’s only one of this in-demand gift left – how do Characters A and B decide who gets it?

Character A helps Character B with the wintertime blues.

Character A is side hustling as a mall Santa and Character B gets their picture taken with them for whatever reason.

Character A, a holiday fiend, figures out a way to help Character B, an all-time grinch, enjoy the holidays on their terms.

Person A thinks Christmas eve proposals are cheesy but love is in the air and they decide to spontaneously go for it. Meanwhile, Person B thinks Christmas Eve proposals are lovely so they also propose at the same moment.

Christmas is oh, so jolly Prompts

As to not ruin Christmas for others, A and B – who recently broke up/both know their relationship is over despite neither of them having voiced it yet/etc. – try to keep up the appearance that they are happily in love.

A has to spend Christmas in the hospital/ER.

A and B’s child/etc. finds out there is no Santa – and they are not taking it well.

A’s parents split within the last year, and they have to get used to this new version of Christmas.

A is broke and feels guilty/bad/etc. about not being able to give gifts to their partner/family members/etc.

A is home alone on Christmas. They don’t mind as they don’t like the holiday, but that doesn’t stop them from feeling a little lonely.

That one argument they already had countless times before gets brought up again on Christmas Day.

A was up all night and is now too tired to fully enjoy the Christmas festivities.

Is it even Christmas without a Christmas tree/feast/etc.?

A insists on (fake) cheerfulness during the holiday, which makes B even angrier. (They just want to resolve this issue and not pretend that they/everything are/is fine.)

A recent death makes the atmosphere this Christmas less than jolly (, but A still tries their best for the sake of their partner/child/etc.).

A and B spend Christmas with A’s family. Infuriatingly, they aren’t too welcoming of B.

A recently figured out that B disliked/was indifferent to every gift they have gotten from them. Now, with Christmas right around the corner, A is desperately searching for something that will change that.
