Regulus secretly put a protective enchantment around Pandora’s lab so she would be safe from any volatile potions or backfiring spells.
This meant that Pandora didn’t realise just how dangerous her experiments were because they’d never properly injured her.
In 1979, Regulus went for his little swim.
In 1989, his spell wore off.
In 1990, something went terribly wrong and with no protections in place, an eight year old Luna had to watch her mother die

I saw a tiktok about Ron yelling at Hermione and embarrassing her in public (he would never), and Draco punching him in the face and I am so. Tired.
Like. We’ve already established that once Ron is committed to his relationship with Hermione, he’s peak husband material. He’s lovely. Househusband extraordinaire. But the idea of Draco Malfoy beating him up???
I like Draco as much as the next person, but we need to acknowledge that he’s a lil bitch. Every time he pisses someone off, he eats shit. Ron beats that twink into the ground on the regular. Come on people, let’s be real.

HARRY POTTER IS A GREAT WIZARD
Harry is an amazing wizard. Yes, he might not be as exceptionally powerful as Dumbledore or Voldemort or as smart as Hermione but he is nonetheless a great wizard. He took out the sword of Gryffindor at the age of 12 and killed a Basilisk. He produced a Patronus at the age of 13 and fought about 100 Dementors which only Dumbledore was said to be capable of. He resisted the Imperius curse(by Voldemort nonetheless) at the age of 14 in the graveyard. Heck, even the death eaters were surprised. He became a teacher at the age of 15 and instilled so much confidence in Neville who would later turn out to be one of their bravest fighters. People need to understand that Harry was just 11-17 during the series so all of this really is a big achievement.
On a side note he got 7 OWL's even after dealing with all the shit he does

Friendly Reminder that Book Snape is a greasy freak who canonically doesn't brush his teeth: his teeth are described as yellow multiple times over the course of the books. He's not sexy or hot or even handsome. He's just a nasty, gross guy. The person who cast Alan Rickman for Snape did him a bigger solid than Dumbledore.

"People only like Snape bc movies" I actually don't like the movies very much. They sanitize so much of the series.
I was that kid who took the books to point out how inaccurate the movies are. And while I've toned down things, I still don't care much for them. I watched them like, 20 times?
But the books-I was always reading the books. Since I was 8 or so. I brought them when I moved and they were the only thing to do besides TV. In the other time I moved I read the books. I was obsessed.
Snape's just interesting. And it's possible to like a character even though/because they did bad things. I like him because he shows trauma symptoms (please can I burn the trope of having characters go through traumatic things and then not reacting to it?). And I like him because his story is probably the only well done example of 'sometimes the good guys have bad traits and do bad and sometimes the bad guys have good traits'
And before anyone gets up on me-I love the Marauders too! Sirius is an interesting character. James (at least in fanfic) is funny. Remus is my favorite of them all.
And Snape was a lousy teacher. He had racist ideologies in the past. He's not a nice person. Don't make the accusation against me that I don't know my fave's flaws.
On a different note, it may be worth noting that Snape's Worst Memory was pretty much cut-just a few seconds, and no one's identity was shown. If it weren't for the books I doubt anyone would know that was the Marauders, and not just some random students.
I could make the same argument about Marauder fans. Wonder if people would've liked Sirius and Remus and James if SWM had been shown? I could make a whole list of things the Marauders did that wasn't shown in the movies. But it would be unfair to say that people only like the Marauders because of the movies. My Marauders-stan bestie certainly doesn't like the Marauders only because of the movies. And neither do you Moon.
Also: I don't get it. If you all want (mostly) unflawed blorbos the Golden Trio and the Silver Trio are right there. Babies, all of them. And Harry's other darling classmates too. Cho and the Patils.
Hundreds of languages out there and you decide to speak facts, anon.
Honestly that claim is so flawed for many reasons.
Literally every single character (except my beautiful bbygirl Ronald Bilius Weasley whose character was completely destroyed in the films and deserved sm better) in the movies was very simplified and at least a little bit whitewashed compared to their book counterpart. Even Umbridge was better in the movies than she was in the books, of course we can’t expect the filmmakers to shoehorn every single detail of Snape’s character in the films.
Be that as it may, a majority of Snape’s heroic actions were ALSO cut from the films. Did the films mention when Snape took the time to brew Wolfsbane potion perfectly each month for a man he didn’t even like? Did the films mention when Snape prepared the mandrake draught potion that cured three Petrified muggleborn students? Did the films mention when Snape revealed his dark mark in front of the Minister of Magic when he began questioning Dumbledore? Did the films mention when Snape went back to Voldemort in GoF and continued spying for Dumbledore? Did the films mention when Snape yelled at a portrait for referring to Hermione as a Mudblood? Did the films mention when Snape straight up saved Remus’s life in DH? Did the films mention when Snape rushed to the fifth floor in his pyjamas when he heard (the egg) screaming? Did the films mention when baby!Snape introduced Lily to the Wizarding World and told her everything she needed to know (including the Dementors; something Harry learned about when he was already a teenager)? Snape’s whole character in the movies (aka the one that stripped 80% of his personality) was done dirty. They didn’t manage to bring up some of his most heroic/genuine moments in the series, so antis better quit complaining about Snape “being whitewashed!!!!!!” in the movies, especially not when they’re Marauder stans as well (legit 89% of the bad things they did were barely even brushed upon).
Hearing people say “people who like Snape only watched the movies” is extremely amusing, especially when one remembers that… they’re talking about… one of the most best-selling book series in the entire world.
Book!Snape is far more diverse and complex than Movie!Snape can even dream to be. We see how his trauma affected him, how he grew as a person throughout the years, his relatively detailed backstory, his realistic bitterness regarding the son of the man he hated and the woman he loved, etc. Saying we can’t possibly appreciate his character is ludicrous, liking a fictional character doesn’t mean you believe they’re a flawless angel or even that you believe they’re a good person. People are able to enjoy problematic characters for what they are. Alan Rickman definitely did his best with what he was given, and movie!Snape was 100% iconic in his own dry way, but the filmmakers still did his character dirty.
My Marauders-stan bestie certainly doesn't like the Marauders only because of the movies. And neither do you Moon.
You’re right, anon. The reason I even like the Marauders (except Jimmy Jimmy coco puff) is because of how deep and complicated their characters are — as adults, we realise just how flawed and grey they are and that they aren’t as wonderful as how Harry views them.
Anyway, I decided to rant a little for you guys because I’ve been starving you for a while. Enjoy. <3

art by me :)
Cheery voices filled the hall,
They came from many children’s call,
Every wizard, ghost and cat,
Were excited for the ceremony ahead.
They were in the huge Hogwarts castle,
Which was now decorated with many candles.
The occasion was a yearly thing,
Which was accruing in this inn.
Before the term could begin,
A magical hat had to decide,
In which house will the soon-to-be-students reside.
Four houses were in total,
In popularity order they are:
Gryffindor is for the fiery braves and valiance,
Whose roar is the loudest of all residents.
Slytherin is the place for the cunning and determined,
Whose cool demeanour can slide off,
Even from the emerald green reservoir.
Ravenclaws are high in the welcoming sky,
Hopping on the clouds of knowledge and creative intelligence, oh my.
Hufflepuffs are loyal, hard working beings,
And are patient with the creatures of this planet.
Other thing you need to know,
That all houses were in harmony,
Except but two.
They were the Slytherin and Griffindor.
There was hate, so huge between those two,
Not even millennias could make it true.
Huge rivalry was between the pair,
Which resulted in mutual rebel.
The remaining silent ones,
Were existing in the shadow of the others’ dance.
After this lengthy intro,
Let us see the man,
We are all into.
There he sat with a gloomy air,
Among the joyful fear.
All he wore was black and tiny white,
You couldn’t see colours in this fella’s fashion style.
You might imagine him as an old, wrinkly man,
However he is not more then thirty two,
Every inch of possible skin,
Remains hidden under heavy things,
Every fabric he has on,
Are long and itchy ones.
He is looking through his greasy hair,
While being seated at the teacher's desk.
While everyone was jolly good,
He is looking at someone,
Among the horde.
Harry Potter the Chosen Child,
Who defeated the Lord of all infernal.
How I loathe that appearance and face!
Even the messy hair and glasses on the top,
Yet, when I look at him,
All I see are the eyes,
Looking through my tired soul.
– He remembered a time,
When those piercing eyes,
Looked at him in a different manner,
They were warm and gentle,
Full of light,
Instead of the hate and fright.
How to have the strength,
To protect that man’s child,
Who caused so much pain and angst?
Why does he have to look,
So much like Potter.2?
Even that scar on his forehead,
Reminding me of a time,
I wish to forget!
– He was pulled out of his moody thought,
By his professor friend’s voice,
McGonagall was reading names,
Of the first years,
Who were standing in a tiny group,
Between pupils and gurus.
The ceremony was dragging on,
When all of the sudden, silence filled the room,
Everyone was waiting for the Hat judge,
To decide, to which house will Harry be budged.
“ You will be in Griffindor!”
Cried the Hat
Followed by the roaring of fiery heads.
Oh how dry,
That I’m not surprised,
The boy is following his father’s pride,
Maybe it's better he is not in Slytherin,
In this way,
I don't have to tolerate,
His appearance all day.
After all,
Why should I be responsible of the safety,
Of this boy?
I’m sure he’ll be fine,
Bullying others for his delight.
– The thoughts of Severus Snape was cut in half,
Because he locked eyes with the Chosen One,
I can't do to not help the child,
When those eyes…
Those eyes are just like Hers of old time!
– Suddenly the youth’s scar thundered,
It looked like it hurt,
However, as quickly as it came,
It went away the same speedy way,
“Salad, Snape?”
Quirrel interrupted the moment,
And the feast was going on, in a merry atmosphere.
Of course he has to ask me now,
And the moment is gone,
I won’t see what caused the sudden throb.
Hours later in the dark,
Severus was lying in the dark,
What caused the sudden ache in the scar?
It can’t be what I think it is,
Since the Devil has been dead,
And no one can come back from the death,
Not even Him!
There must be something racional,
But I can't see what it is.
– Was thinking the crooked nose wizard,
While preparing for tomorrow’s class.
Thank you for reading!

I scream into a void of a group of people who will love every fucking character that was a Death Eater, but they'll still hate Severus Snape!! 😭
Come on! How are you going to like these characters who were very clearly bigots who never changed their ways (in canon), but you're not going to forgive Severus? He repented. His whole time after the first war was him preparing for when Voldemort returned so he could help defeat him and protect Harry. He was Dumbledore's man. Is it just that people in this fandom don't like morally grey characters anymore?
Or maybe it's because they've read so much fanfic that they've forgotten canon entirely except for Severus, who they will continue to hate while liking characters who were also death eaters, mean to children, used the word mudblood, and more.
Why like them but not him?

JK Rowling herself said that she's upset that fans like Draco and it's so ridiculous to me. Like you literally give him a redemption arc and get upset that we sympathize for this child???? but then you want us to applaud and forgive Snape (a grown ass man) for his great, heroic, selfless deeds ????? Like Jo please explain i'm genuinely lost on this one

Been going through my (chaos) notes and would you look
A Harry Potter fic cookie
Potions class. The same as usual. A bunch of 13 year olds, the interesting and unlucky mix of Slytherins and Gryffindors, trying to survive the lesson.
However, two bloody masterminds (please note the dry sand-dripping sarcasm), two Slytherins (this time not the trying hard and shy Neville), both very much not conscious enough to be brewing over a cauldron (the acquired bag of baked goodies was worth it!) end up with a very odd mix of Amortencia, instead of the required draught meant for 3rd years.
Of course the content spills over the nearby desks and people. Especially the people.
In the end it ends up halfway on Hermione, who gets a whiff and
in a fit of inhaling the odor of the classroom, trying to identify the supposed target her instincts are trying to locate, taking in the situation, her analytical mind honing in on the specific substances, and a certain haze washing over, this weird sensation of belonging and knowledge, she settles and... This is it.
Potions.
Oh the glory of Potions, these intricate brews and complex ingredient-interacting
"I'm going to be a Potionmistress," she declares.
Which in turn eggs on Draco, the supposed rival in Potions class, but also the whiffs are potent and as the desks neighbour on the other side it triggers something inside, that might have or not been there. And essentially terrifies in his botched Amortentia-haze mind.
"Hey! Can't you be more careful, watch it---!"
(it turns out the weird brew cross just amplifies feeling from within their own soul/mind/personality and focuses them on one specific randomly found aspect and adds to it. Thus:
Hermione - thirst for knowledge - potions
Draco - a sense for another's feelings - empathy)
A potionmistress-in-the-making Hermione
A sentimental and sensitive Draco
Later on, in another class Luna gets a chunk of it with other Ravenclaws (the bullies turn odder than expected) courtesy of the twins who get hyped to try out this method for pranks (as it turns out, as per usual eavesdropping, making that mix ain't that hard not as dangerous hence good door pranking), so Luna declares Snape her personal mentor and friend, which ain't that odd as it's the odd yet friendly Luna, but more the bravery for going up and saying it ( una - bravery - target of her new found: Snape)
Also usual Hogwarts shenanigans while the chaos continues
2 students, a Slytherin and a Ravenclaw first years try to make it into the Ravenclaw tower cause 1) friends gotta help each other in this freaky situation 2) if anything happens you can sleep with me in the dungeon, maybe they won't notice it, Professor Snape has been absent lately, some accident or smth, hey my friend is also there, she will help us.
They end up in Hufflepuff. Well, fuck. That didn't work, at least the carpets are nice and fluffy.
Btw these two are 16 as they both are from a different country and didn't get the memo, they are witches
Btw there are also 2 time Travelers who just kinda hang around and don't give a fuck
Both happen in the background
