Once More I see you

Len wakes up feeling exhausted and troubled due to an argument with his friend Josh. Len's jealousy and concerns about Josh's behavior lead to a confrontation at school. Len seeks advice from his friend Kate, and the story ends with Len waking up in the My Hero Academia universe, leaving him bewildered and unsure if it's all a dream.

Len woke up to another day, exhausted and his eyes were full of drought, maybe from all the tears he shed… He and Josh had an argument a few days before and Josh has been giving him the silent treatment. Checked his notifications, no response, no text, no nothing. Len groaned and stared at the ceiling closing his eyes for one moment he felt a familiar feeling, as if he was drifting away…

I sit in science as I zone out of the conversation I’m currently in with Mango, Natasha, and Anna. I couldn’t help it! My thoughts were disturbed by Josh, as I watched him talk about Andrew Tate to the table next to me, also talking about drop shipping and how much money he makes, bragging to his friends. I silently watch as I see Bear and Dilly take in the information as if they’re jotting notes down in their minds. Jealously begins to creep in me. Yesterday in P.E. he chose Dilly over me! I tried to talk to him but he blatantly ignored me!

“Len, McDreamy, Honey Bun? Are you okay? You seem to be out of it today?” Natasha says

I snap back from my trance and notice Mango, Anna, and Natasha staring at me worriedly. I make a small reassuring grin to show that I’m fine, even though I wasn’t.

”I’m fine really! Just a bit out of it today!” I say reassuring them as I scratch to back of my head, though they look away buying the idea that I was fine, Natasha continues to stare at me worryingly as she goes back listening to the conversation while trying to do her work. I try to indulge in the conversation more but my eyes keep reverting back to Josh.

TIME SKIP

Science finally ended as I waited near the stairs for Josh. My arms crossed and one of my feet against the wall, my head down waiting to talk to Josh, avoiding any other eyes that weren't Josh’s. I see him and his little group. Jealousy pierces through me as I see him with Dilly and Bear. He notices me and tells his friends to go without him, his eyes meeting mine. I watch them leave as Josh's eyes still stare at mine, finally, they leave.

"What the shock?!" Josh says as he pushes my shoulder,

I uncross my arms and put both feet on the ground I slowly walk up to him, both hands on my hips. Face to face, I look at him with menacing eyes before grabbing both of Josh's shoulders and turning him, pinning him against the wall. No one was in sight, just the two of us as I stared into his blue orbs.

"Have you been cheating on me with Dilly?" I say in a dominant and stern voice,

"Me?! You're really accusing that of me?! What about you and Natasha?!" Josh says making sure that the name is clear, as he pushes against my chest with his hands, trying to get away from me but I grab his forearm and bring him closer to me.

"Me and Natasha have nothing going on! She calls me stupid nicknames but that's it! She barley likes guys. You, on the other hand, you and Dilly do everything together."

Josh tugs away his forearm and escapes from my hands as he rolls his eyes and walks downstairs to his class, I hear the bell ring as I see a flood of students gush out of classrooms, I turn to the stairs in front of me, and felt a strong tough punch against my back. I turn to see who gave me such a punch. I see Kate with a mischievous grin,

"You having boy problems girlie? Don't worry I gotta you, bae, I got connections. So tell me all the hot tea between you too! I could seriously smell the tension from here." Kate says with her cheery valley accent walking next to him as they walk up the stairs.

"It's nothing, just... the usual," I say as I look the opposite way from Kate,

"The usual? Well, that sounds like a manipulative relationship honey, you should really get boys like that away from you, especially if he's talking to Dilly like that."

My eyes reverted to the floor at the mention of Dilly's name. Usually, at the end of the day, I would call either Natasha or Kate about my current boy problems so I wasn’t surprised that she knew the current situation. We arrived at her locker so she could put some of her stuff back and get her books, I leaned against the locker next to her and faced Kate.

“What should I do Kate? He’s avoiding all the questions I'm asking and distancing himself from me, I love him it's just I don't know what to do anymore.” I covered my face with my hands, dragging them off, looking back at Kate seeing that she had her things.

“I don’t know it's your choice, What do you wanna do?” she says placing a hand on my shoulder and then walking away to her class “Kate!” I say groaning.

‘What the hell am I gonna do?’

After the school day ended my mind still remained on one thought,

I love him, but the way I'm thinking about him is like thousands of swords stabbing into my skull over and over again. I grabbed my stuff from my locker and looked at my surroundings seeing if Josh was there.

He’s not.

Sighing seeing how there was no point in looking for him because it's clear he doesn’t want me to. Walking down the stairs as I see the school doors, opening them seeing the dull skys and people outside. I walk out of the school and I see Josh and Dilly, I look at him as he notices my glare. We hold our glare for a while until I break it, walking out of the gates of hell.

I arrive home throwing my bag on the floor next to my bed before lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling. I wouldn’t, no I couldn’t stop thinking about him, I tossed and turned in my bed squeezing my eyes shut only to see fragments of him and me together. Is this it..? Were gonna break up arent we? What's gonna happen? Is our jealousy gonna distance us till we break? I don't want to, but, maybe I needed to… We need to… I grabbed my noise-canceling headphones and played a song, allowing me to cancel out everything else from the world,

John met me down on the boulevard

Cried on his shoulder 'cause life is hard

The waves came in over my head

What you been up to, my baby?

I felt as if I began sinking into my bed.

Drifting

As I open my eyes to notice the environment around me has completely changed, I sit up in shock, I look around my room or not my room… Posters of LeBron James everywhere… my bedsheets my curtains my walls painted of LeBron James! Confused I stood up, realizing the similarities of my room from someone else… Noticing the placement of everything and my room structure. I ran to open my curtains, but while running up to open the curtains, I smelled a stench of cheese as I got nearer, expecting to see a forest. Which I did… but something else as well..or someone else… I open the curtains.

I see small handprints on the windowed doors…

my eyes widened,

I saw…

Lex?!

I jumped back surprised

”What the Shock?!”

I yell as I see Lex’s face push against the glass, clearly trying to listen to me or even try to watch me even though the curtains are closed. Before I could say anything else I watched Lex disappear from sight, still in shock, I rubbed it off clearly understanding what happened to me.

I take a good look around me again, and I realize I’m in My Hero Academia! Or I think I am..? Some universe with people I know from my universe. It was all too confusing all too much for any man to understand! I slam my head into the LeBron James Pillow. Closing my eyes believing that this was a dream! This is all a dream! I shut my eyes trying to get back, pinching myself to check if this is real! If any of this was real!

My friends have this ridiculous theory I'm not human and I am in fact an alien or critter in disguise but I assure you that's completely bogus and I'm 100% human and I do have skin.

11. Favorite fan art of the year: Hard to say, but I'll say this sampard piece I got from Val baby for my bday, and this Ukatake commission by @dokidoki-muffin, this spiderdads commission by @giulscomix, and this Ittorou commission by @chibimochii have also stolen my heart!

And ofc all other commissions of this year (the bowuigi one fs;ijogij; and miguel one omggg, the pokemon commission so CUTE). And *wiggles fingers* I have more on the way....

12. Favorite fic of the year: Hard to say but I've been enjoying a lot of the Tickletober works specifically by @lovelynim and @ticklygiggles, and also this Nimona fic by @bambinella has become a fav, and all RWRB fics by @kourtniwritesagain!!!!! I still need to reblog them here.

13. Favorite ask game of the year: I can't remember which ones I played, but I remember there was a time I had reblogged "post your anonymous confessions" or something, and it resulted in the most interesting asks and conversations with you guys^^ I liked that.

14. My top achievements as a writer/artist/creator/blogger: If I'll be around in a year, this won't be 'writer' but 'blogger', but for this one as a writer, it'll again be completing all 31 days of tickletober right on schedule despite a minor intervention.. :"D

15. My own best fic/post of the year: I have no idea! But if I ask AO3, it answers that my best fic of this year is my bowuigi fic mahahaha (based on kudos btw).

16. My most underappreciated fic/post of the year: Let's give that award to these 2 poor Tickletober fics (which I enjoyed writing a lot) that were not reblogged by anyone meaning they are no longer on Tumblr since my account loss:

Part 3: Next Year

19. Something I didn’t post this year but would like to do next year: A fic recommendations/faves post (from other writers). Wonder if I'll ever get to it, since my reading and fic reblogging is already not what I like it to be, meaning that every fic I reblog would probably belong on that list lol. But alright, I'd like to make a faves of the faves list then.

20. Goals for next year: Read more...!!! Read more books, more manga, more webtoons, more tickle fics. I love them, so I should read more! My truest ambition.

21. 2024 releases I look forward to the most: Every single update for Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, and also: Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Inside Out 2, Deadpool 3, Venom 3, Kimi ni Todoke S3, and Beastars Final Season!

Alondra I just read part 13 and I'm screaming!

Life have been very hectic for me lately as I started my new masters, and I needed the time to sit down and properly read the thing that I know now that is my favourite thing to wait for

Its currently 3am, I'm sleepless just like Miguel, chronically staring at my screens as I go through coding and other complex stuff (fr my O'hara era) but I needed comfort and I was like you know what? F this, I'm reading NVC, idk I was gonna stay up late anyways.

After all my rant here are my thoughts, in order probably of how I felt about the fic:

-First of all the SCARF are you kidding me?!? The fact that Miggy keeps it for comfort and reader knows and decides to trick him out on wearing it so her scent lingers on it, fixing it around her aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhh i mean come onnnnnnnnnnn kiss already

-And then Miguel just casually putting the scarf on her cause whatever YOLO just do it, my heart exploded

-AND LORD HAVE MERCY SEND HELP I'M GOING CRAZY ABOUT WEARING MIGUEL'S JACKET

-istg I felt it around me, like a thousand sizes bigger than me, being cozy like a blanket? My heart aches!

-Miguel telling reader to be careful and then she sayind "I'll see you at home" I literally had to bite my arm not to scream and wake up my roomates LOL

-This part got me sooooo longing, cause this is istg my brother and I dynamic with my mom and grandma, is latino coded that I love it, it filled my heart to remember those days.

-AND ALSO HELLO NOT YOU REFERRING EDUARDO YAÑEZ LOOKING LIKE MIGUEL IM HISTERICALLY LAUGHING OMGGGGGGGGG (gotta say destilando amor is an amazing novela lol)

-I can't… are we saying we have a crush on him? Cause… sighs I do.. I long for him -I'm sorry I'm making this notes as I go and I'm ranting but this..

-Miguel… you can hug me any day baby you don't need to stuff a pillow.

-The blanket, the canelita, the talk in the couch… the yearning for physical touch, the new playfulness of Miguel… I was in tears for at least 20 min before I could continue reading.

-Little side note on this… phrase… my mind started to go places where it didn't need to be about my theories on spiderverse lol,please SONY IM BEGGING, I need for 2025 to come asap, I need answers and more Miggy.

-Anyways know that I'm writing this as a live reaction and I just stood up from my chair to go scream at mi pillow when I saw the word

GARIBALDIS, you finally did it I love so much MY HEARTTT IS GONNA EXPLODE!

You have no idea how happy this just made me! AAAAH!

-And in this angsty part… OMG… I swear I needed like 20 more minutes to recollect myself...meanwhile I'll give you this gaby doodle

-Okay add like another 20 minutes after you mentioned that Gaby sang Luna de Xelajú on the guitar, this whole Gabriella convo has my heart aching more, I need this little girl in my life...

-Not Miguel telling reader about his dreams of her interacting with Gabi and Gabriel, I'm on the floor once again, and telling her that they love her and she admitting she loves them too

-So for the next part when reader and Miguel hold hands while sleeping… I'll just share my doodle with you.... I went insane...

-The image of this alone will have me dreaming all night of him i swear, this became to much for my heart to quickly, I can freaking assure you that this is the best piece of FF reading of my life I'm not even kidding, I'll hold your hand as miguel did 🥺

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

OMG WE ARE OFFICIALLY BEST FRIENDS THIS IS NOT A DRILL PEOPLE

I had to doodle them both, cause hello they for sure were so cute admitting it to each other, and Miguel laughing... AAAAAAAAH!

My friend you ended up killing me with the Chilaquiles part AND YOU MENTIONING IT WAS FOR ME AND THE GARIBALDIS TOO?!?!

Well my rant ends up here, I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to get to you, but life has been chaotic! I'm so glad I took my proper time to read and enjoy this because I felt so many things reading this chapter, it was amazing as always and can't wait for what's next!!

But in all seriousness, I hope you're doing well and taking some well deserved time off, at least a few minutes for your mental health :)

Also, I loved reading all your reactions as you were reading the part, haha (I hope you didn't wake up your roommates)!! But now, time for me to rant about this chapter, too, because it's been one of my favorite to write so far!!

The scarf moment - the way reader tricked Miguel so she could wear it and keep her scent on it, him placing it on her the next time!! He was bold for that and playful which skjksjh, I love this side of him !! But | agree, need them to kiss already !!!! (currently fighting thoughts on them kissing and doing more 🫣🫣 the thoughts are just too much)

Reader WEARING MIGUEL'S JACKET, I'M SO GLAD YOU MENTION IT BECAUSE I WAS SCREAMING ABOUT IT AND MIGUEL'S REACTION - mans brain was buffering 💀 but also imagine wearing his jacket?? I need it 😮‍💨 imagine how comforting it would feel? And his SCENT (I'm normal about this, I promise)

sjshJSsk reader telling Miguel, " I'll see you at home" - just me being silly, and giving you guys and myself a little taste of the future 😌 (once again, the thoughts are consuming me)

Okay for the telenovela part, I was like gotta include this because this was also an evening thing for my siblings and me with my parents. I also love thinking about Miguel having these Latin experiences, so I was like imagine Miguel and Gabriel sitting at the dining table doing homework while Conchata watches the telenovela? Plus, it gave me an excuse to include Gabriel because I seriously love him so much!! So, I'm so happy that this little scene allowed you to reminisce on your childhood!! 🥺

ANA I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD MENTION THE EDUARDO YAÑEZ REFERENCE - THANK YOU!!! I had to after seeing people on tiktok saying Miguel kinda looked like him months ago lol and well, me personally, I had the biggest crush on him growing up 🤭 (and real! Destilando Amor is one of my favorite telenovelas !!)

About reader maybe having a crush on him because she realizes she's found someone like Peter in Miguel....um, no comment. But I definitely have a crush on him (I love him)!!!

And Miguel stuffing a pillow into reader's sweatshirt - SAME!! I'm like, just come and hug me, Miguel, no need for the pillow (imagining things right now)

The whole moment with the blanket and canelita to have this talk about Miguel's past - I wanted the moment to be as comforting as possible for Miguel with how heavy and sad the talk was going to be. 😭 And then, both of them yearning for physical contact (because Miguel is definitely yearning for it, if it's not clear!!) I just really loved it because now we have not only reader but also Miguel wanting more physical touch!!! I can't wait for them to finally hug fr!!!

Ana, I would love to know about your theories regarding the multiverse and universes collapsing because it's something I've been thinking about. I literally think about it and then just stop because I feel like I'm losing my mind over it. I NEED ANSWERS!! And more Miggy content, too 😭😭

THE GABY DOODLE HAS KILLED ME - SHES SO CUTE!!! LOOK AT HER CHEEKY SMILE - THE WAY I WOULD'VE CRIED IF I SAW THAT PIC LIVE WITH MIGUEL !!! The Luna de Xelajú mention with Gaby - I hurt myself with that one ngl and I feel you!! I know Gaby has little screen time in the movie but I just love her so much and I wish we had more content of her and Miggy (Sony I'm begging for more content of them happy plssss)!! But no, seriously, I would love to have her in my life and look after her (I would even raise her, let's be real) She's such an angel 🥺🥺

The part with Miguel telling reader about his dreams and her being part of them, and how she interacts with Gaby and Gabriel and how they love her !! And then you also have reader revealing that she loves them, too - AHHH!!! It's like, you guys should marry already pls (Gaby and Gabriel are probably watching from somewhere like, "éstos dos..." 🫠 Gabriel probably tells Gaby that, "Your dad has one of the brightest minds of all time, but he's never been good at this romance thing. So, I guess we need to give him time.")

This idea has been plaguing my brain for days now and I had to put it somewhere, so here:

Basically Jason was in his apartment watching some silly shows with his girlfriend laying on his side, his evening was doing pretty great for once, that is untill Oracle called saying they needed help, before Jason could decline she said unknown portals showed up in Gotham and one of them opened right in Crime Alley(or the Narrows, both work) and the Bat asked for him to investigate that portal while the rest of the batfam would deal with the other portals, a.k.a Jason had little choice but to go there and see what the fuck was going on in his territory.

So after angrily putting on the helmet and telling Jazz he would be back in a few minutes he got on his motorcycle and whent off to where the portal was, but once he got to the location Oracle provided there was no portal in sight, only a lot of dirt, a really big crater and- is that a person on a floating board!?

Aparentlly there was a random person standing on a floating board and chilling in the middle of a big crater, at this point he's not even surprised anymore. As he approaches the crater he starts seeing more details on the person, they had a green teal shirt with black shoulder pads and white gloves, they also had ginger hair tied in a how ponytail that was eerily similar to his girlfriend's, but it could just be a coincidence.

But as he got closer and the dust started to settle down he could not help the confused-almost-shout that came out of his mouth, and the only question in his mind is what the hell is Jazz doing here???

As it turns out, that was not Jazz, or at least not his Jazz, because aparentlly she was from a alternative universe and ended up in this universe by accident while she was chasing a powerful ghost with dimensional travel powers, in all honesty Jason is already done with this bullshit.

"Is there any other alternative version of my girlfriend I should know abaut?" Jason asked in a very exasperated voice

"Well, I did see a Jazz that had 2 swords and a blue blue hair streak before you showed up" the other Jazz sheepishly replied.

Jason buried his head on his hands.

He just wanted to spend some time with his girlfriend.

(Basically the idea is that Jason ends up meeting Krosan's version of Jazz and is very tired of dealing with multiversonal bullshit and I think him meeting that version of Dan would be kinda funny tbh, and also a little reference for Mortified!Jazz. Idk what this is but i needed to let it out)

We've seen a Spiderverse-like AU for Danny, why not for Jazz?? We have halfa!Jazz, Mortified!Jazz (aka warrior princess), Hunter!Jazz (Krossan's design is amazing and the thing with Dan is so cute) and my (is not really mine? I just ran with the idea in my fics) Liminal!Jazz.

I know you meant only Hunter!Jazz and Dan in their universe, but now the Spiderverse-like concept in in my brain now.

Hunter!Jazz I would think likes him, but in a older brother kind of way (also in Krossan's art she looks young soooo). He is kinda like her Dan but post-redemption, so she is very interested in getting into his head and learn how he did it.

Mortified!Jazz is also young but would have a crush on him, specially when she finds out he can kick ass and drinks respect women juice. And with how he takes care of his girlfriend? Honestly if she weren't so busy with, you know, saving the world and helping her brother become King, she'd want something like that for herself.

Halfa!Jazz is more of a trickster and had a chance to be the younger sibling, from what I could gather the consensus is in the Phandom. Assuming she's close in age to Jason here, she wouldn't mind sharing with that world's Jazz. "He has two hands, other-me!" Also she would want to fix the Lazarus Pits thing ASAP.

Evil!Jazz is into him immediately. His sense of justice and how he is willing to do anything to save people are things she finds attractive. Also it helps that he is cute 😌💖

Miguel O’hara x fem!Reader

I should definitely be working on other fics right now, but after finally getting to see the new spiderverse movie I needed to write this and get it out of my system. I didn’t necessarily write this with him being yandere in mind, but it can easily be interpreted that way. Also I know that it’s debatable if the version of himself that he replaced even was spider-man, but I felt like it worked best for this fic if he was. Might do a part 2 later.

It's the little things, you know?

When you make the commitment to marry someone, you sign yourself up to learn every single seemingly unimportant detail there is to know.

From more overt things like how they take their coffee, to something as minute as what section of the grocery store they like to go to first. It's not until you've learned these little personal quirks that you feel like you truly understand them. At least that's how you feel.

That's why it was so bothersome when these little things suddenly changed.

Despite how hectic his life was, Miguel was ultimately what you would call a creature of habit. He had his routines and habits and was absolutely loathed to change them. You suppose he took comfort in being able to control the smaller aspects of his life.

The first thing you noticed was something so minor, that you would have felt stupid pointing it out.

He put his socks on in the wrong order. Usually he did the left foot first, then the right. However, one morning he started with the right foot.

You couldn’t help but stare, which Miguel picked up on almost immediately. His red eyes glanced up through his hair to lock with yours. He quirked a brow at you, “Is everything alright, mi vida?”

Embarrassed to be caught gawking, you scramble to come up with an excuse, because you were absolutely not going to admit this was over the order that he put his socks on. That was probably considered a weird thing to pay attention to. Your parents did always say you were too observant for your own good.

“Oh, I just couldn’t help but notice that there’s a hole in that sock,” you strutted closer to him as he quickly looked down to try and find what you were referring to. He didn’t see anything and looked back up at you questioning, only for you to bop him on the nose, “Ha! Made you look!”

Briefly, his eyes widened in surprise, but then relaxed as he chuckled, “Aren’t you in a funny mood today?”

“Always am!” You giggled and returned to the process of getting ready for the day.

It wasn’t important. For all you know, you were misremembering and he had put them on in the typical order. Yeah, that was definitely it. You were feeling pretty drowsy today, it only makes sense that your brain would confuse something minor like this.

You let it go.

At least, you tried to.

Even if you did let the sock thing go, more inconsistencies popped up. It was always something small, but as the days ticked by, it added up and weighed on you. The slight changes to his speech patterns, him kissing the wrong side of your face in the morning, doing insignificant things in slightly different orders, it was all getting under your skin.

There was another problem. You felt like you couldn’t talk about any of these because almost all of the changes were either so tiny that it felt silly to talk about, or they were improvements to how things used to be. That’s not to say that you felt like your husband was dropping the ball before, but now he was so much more attentive that you didn’t know what to make of it.

You knew what you were getting into way before you ever said ‘I do’. Miguel isn’t your average Joe with a typical 9 to 5. He’s a workaholic scientist whose side hustle is being Spider-Man, you knew full well that there were going to be plenty of times where things simply wouldn’t work out the way you wanted it to. Super villains aren’t exactly known for respecting that the heroes they’re fighting had dinner plans that evening. It’s okay though, you understood. You loved him enough to not let something like that cause problems in your relationship.

So why was him suddenly making more time to spend with you and your daughter bothering you? Why couldn’t you just be happy and grateful? Gabriella certainly was, yet you couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

Finally, though, there was a slip up even you couldn’t ignore or let go.

It happened one evening when he had taken you out to a nice restaurant for a date night. Not just any restaurant, your favorite. Miguel didn’t have the time to take you there very often, but that just made the instances where he did all the more special.

This restaurant had a particular dish that you thought was to die for, it was literally the only thing you ever ordered when you were here. When something is that good, you don’t want to risk trying something new and not liking it as much.

Before the waiter could come and take your order, nature called. You stood up from your seat, “I’m gonna go use the restroom, could you order for me if the waiter comes back before I do?”

“Of course, what do you want?”

You paused and looked at him like he’d grown a second head. The guy who teased you for having the most predictable order ever was asking what you wanted, and he looked completely serious. There was no coyness in his expression or sarcasm in his tone.

You forced out a laugh, he must be more stone-faced than usual today, “Very funny, dear. My usual, the thing I always order when we’re here.”

Briefly, panic flashed across his face. It was so fleeting that you would have missed it had you so much as blinked, but you definitely saw it. Luck appeared to be on his side, though, because that’s when the waiter arrived. Immediately, Miguel prompted you to order first.

Something was definitely wrong here, and that exchange confirmed it.

After that, you felt more justified in analyzing all those little discrepancies. Granted, you weren’t sure what you were hoping to find. You had no clue what could possibly be going on. Miguel has forgotten things in the past. He’s a busy guy, having plans slip his mind was hardly unexpected, but not remembering a detail about you was unheard of.

The issue, one of many, was that you weren’t even sure what you were looking for. You can’t imagine that he’s keeping secrets. He’s told you about his superhero persona, what could possibly be more under lock and key than that? Cheating is out of the question too, you know he would never.

Maybe it was brain damage? He did get thrown around a lot, it certainly felt plausible, but you couldn’t recall any serious head injuries lately.

Researching on the internet didn’t help much either. The articles you found were either all about cheating or capgras syndrome. You didn’t feel like you had capgras syndrome, the idea that your husband was replaced by an imposter was stupid. Even if one of his enemies had some bullshit power that allowed them to impersonate Miguel, they’d only do it long enough to take you or Gabriella hostage. Why keep up an act for this long? What would there be to gain? It didn’t make sense.

Basically, you were at square one.

That brings you to today. He forgot his lunch at home and you took it upon yourself to bring it to him. Despite all the oddities, you still loved him dearly and were excited to check in on him at work. You made your way down the familiar hallways of Alchemax with a skip in your step and some extra food for yourself, hoping to be able to have lunch together.

Without knocking, you throw open the door to his office. Miguel was watching something on a holoscreen, but dismissed it so quickly that you didn’t get a chance to see what it was.

Well that’s suspicious.

“Hi, honey! You forgot your lunch again, so I was thinking we could eat together!” You held up and gently shook the lunches for emphasis.

His initially startled expression morphed into a warm smile, “I knew I was forgetting something.” He turned away from whatever it was he was working on to face you properly, happily accepting the hug and kiss on the cheek you gave him. “You’re too good for me.”

You lightly slapped his arm, “Aw, don’t say that!”

He opened his mouth to say something else, but was cut off by his AI assistant popping up. “Miguel, someone is here to see you.”

“I can see that, she’s already in here,” he rolled his eyes.

“Not her, there’s someone… “non-local” here to see you... It’s important,” Lyla went so far as to make air quotations when she said non-local. You’re not sure why someone not being from around here was such a big deal. Lots of people don’t live in Neuva York.

His face hardened momentarily, but he forced it to relax when his gaze switched back to you, “I’ll be right back.”

With that, he hurried out the door, leaving you alone in the office. You gently put the lunches down, took a quick glance of your surroundings, and then scurried over to where his holoscreens were. Finally, finally, you might have a clue as to what’s going on with Miguel.

Lucky for you, he didn’t take the time to lock it before swiping it away. You pull them up with bated breath, not sure what you were going to find but anticipating it nonetheless. The screen stalled and buffered for a split second before resuming what it was displaying previously.

It was a video from your wedding. During the reception while you two were cutting the cake. While Miguel had the decency to not smear the cake across your face, you weren’t so merciful and scooped some icing off your slice to wipe on his nose. He definitely let you have that, his reflexes were too good for you to have actually caught him off guard.

The warmth in your heart from seeing the fond memory was quickly replaced by the heavy weight of guilt. What the hell were you doing? You went snooping because he was acting a little weird, and all you caught him in was watching home videos at work.

Maybe… Maybe you were over reacting. Imagining things, even. In his lines of work, it makes sense that he’s going to act a little weird or forget things sometimes. You dismissed the screens and resolved to let your suspicions go for the time being. There was no rush to go prying into what little private time he had like this.

It’s not like the world was going to end tomorrow or anything.

He's mixed up with some dangerous people, but can the new relationships he's forging at U.A. help him finally break free from the ever looming shadows of his past and present?
