I Promise Always (Part 8)

Eddie wasn't sure what to expect this morning for one whole evening he had forgotten about Y/n and how she made him feel like he was somehow crumbling and whole at the same time. He wasn't used to the feelings she gave him. She was like a breeze that hit him with one of Uncle Wayne's farts attached at the end. It was always surprising and he was never sure if it was going make him puke or if he could stand there and take it like a man.

His dice bag was there on the seat and he checked both windows before he pulled his d20 out and rolled "what are my chances looking like today?" He had a rule anything below five and it was looking like a shit day anything above 5 and he was in for what he called a pretty normal day.

He'd rolled a two. He shook his head and laid his head against the horn of the van that let out a long pitiful beep. He. quickly put the d20 back in the bag and slipped his backpack on his back and headed toward his locker where he saw Mike and Dustin haggling with Gareth who seemed to be scratching his head about something.

He really wasn't ready to have a who's my favorite conversation this morning so instead, he headed toward the first hour. Which he forgot that he shared with y/n and Chrissy. Chrissy wasn't his main concern though. She hadn't even arrived yet. But there was Y/n with a set of headphones on her hair in loose waves and a DIO shirt. Eddie hid himself against the door of the class "She's going to kill me." he muttered and made the sign of the cross quickly before looking again. Sure enough, there she was. Makeup done lips a perfect shade of red and he could see her tummy just before it hit her jeans and she was reading THE HOBBIT. Eddie was literally drooling when Chrissy wafted by him smelling heavily of weed.

"Munson that shit you gave me stinks!" She complained before spraying a heavily scented perfume on him and on her.

"Jesus Chrissy, how much have you been smoking?" He reached down to smell the perfume to make sure it didn't fuck with his manly musk.

"Literally like you told me one puff...." She swished herself back and forth.

"How many times a day?" Eddie was all business.

" 8."

"CHRISSY." He wailed lighlty, Jason was so going to kill him if he found out that Chrissy got the drugs from him. He followed her into class and sat down in his seat trying not to look at Y/N but it was proving to be impossible

It wasn't the splash of skin that did Eddie in it was the parts that were covered. Her jeans were wrapped perfectly in a set of Levi's that hugged all the curves of her ass and then tapered at the knee for a flare-out that had gone out of style. But he could see tiny black converse peeking back from under the long flare. The shirt was mismatched black and orange tiedye something Eddie had seen before but couldn't place, the sleeves were pure black knit stitched in to make it a perfect offset piece and it cut off right off after her belly button leaving just a sliver of skin to look at. Her hair was wrapped in a white bandana that she had expertly tied into the perfect bow. He couldn't take his eyes off her.

Feeling his gaze he turned and stuck her tongue out at him and winked and Eddie even though he was fully seated felt his knees grow weak and he tried listening to what she and Chrissy were talking about:

"Y/N Oh My God what are you wearing?" Chrissy wailed

" I went shopping at the mall with Steve and Robin. " Y/n said proudly looking at her outfit proudly

"Please don't tell me they took you to that little grunge shop in the gross corner of the mall." Chrissy's eyes turned into slits as she tried to squint (far far far to much weed)

"At least I don't have red eyes and smell like a skunk's ass."

"Okay completely fair. " Chrissy sat on Y/n's desk making Y/n dog ear the page of the hobbit she was on.

"What's the news on the headache front," Y/n asked in all seriousness

"Gone. Eddie gave me the goods, enough about the freak though. You realize the Championship game is happening next week right?" Chrissy said pumping her fist.

"No didn't realize. Not one for sports." Y/n stated calmly

"You realize there's an after party right. You totally need to come." Chrissy squished her face into these adorable little fish lips and Eddie had to contain a gasp. So he pretended to Yawn still listening though

"I'll see what I can do. Don't get too excited though my dad isn't too keen on me being on the party scene. " Y/N slipped on her headphones and pressed play on her walkman that Eddie saw decorated with stickers and attached to her hip.

When class started Eddie took notes diligently he was trying so hard not to look her way. Trying to keep himself from getting distracted by how beautiful she looked.

The day had been absolute shit. Half the day Eddie had spent fantasizing about Y/n. He'd even gotten a boner and had to go jerk off in the Gym because she was laying down reading The Hobbit and listening to music. Which pissed off Jason because Eddie wasn't a target for his anger.

God Eddie had his head in the gutter he leaned his head against the cool part of his locker as students went past. He did the combination without looking and opened his locker to see a flannel wrapped around a tall small box tied into a perfect bow. He carefully lifted the parcel and took it to lunch with him because it smelled like food but he wasn't sure why a food parcel would be wrapped in a flannel.

Everyone at the table was in a heated discussion about "Seducing a door." which seemed a little far-fetched to Eddie so he asked," Alright who is seducing doors and why?"

"Garth said he wants to try and use seduction as a form of attack against a door." Henderson pointed a pudding cup in his hand.

"My question is still is the door sentient or is it just a fucking door?" Jared asked calmly putting a spoon on his nose in a juvenile manner.

"If it's just a door then no you can't seduce a door. " Y/n mentioned as she wandered by with a little pink box and Robin had a yellow one. Eddie wanted to die on the spot. No lady should ever have to be the one to settle the dungeon master's arguments but she'd done it so cheekily like it didn't matter . It was so sexy he wanted to scream.

"My lord, what is that?" Jared asked and Eddie looked at the flannel-covered parcel in front of him.

"it was in my locker... Henderson you know how to open things without destroying them can you do this one for me." He slid the bowed flannel to Henderson and then he looked at his chocolate-covered fingers, "wipe your hands off first."

Dustin was diligent before he handled the package his fingers were swift and his hands moved gently he unfolded the shirt before neatly slid a four-stacked box to Eddie it was a deep shade of Blue.

"What on earth is this?" He asked the table rhetorically and then lifted off the bento box's first lid. To see baby carrots and celery sticks smothered in peanut butter with raisins on them just the way Wayne used to do when he was a kid on special occasions when Y/N used to come over.

Something in his heart cracked a little against the hard shell he had made around it. He wanted to be angry at her but he couldn't she obviously put a lot of care into the box. he set the first layer aside and looked at the second layer there were rice balls in the shapes of what looked like Gandalf and Bilbo he was so confused and then he saw the hobbit door and smiled - this was the closest anyone had ever come to making him try to laugh at Gandolf they grey. Everyone at the table was looking at the lunchbox," IS THAT BILBO BAGGINS?" Mike peeped and Henderson shushed him.

"I just wanna know how she got all the rice to make the door," Garreth murmured

" Woah, Woah, hold up who said it's from a girl?" Eddie stood up almost knocking over his celery and baby carrots which he quickly gathered and began to munch on while standing. Looking at the table and all the eyes searching his

" Will Beyers hardly said much outside his DND campaigns but since the defeat of Vecna, he had become a permanent staple at the table. Gareth snaked the door before Eddie could protest because He was reaching for the flannel confused.

"I SWEAR TO GOD IF ANYONE TOUCHES THIS BOX TONIGHT WILL BE WORSE THAN YESTERDAY."

The table broke into an uproar," This is so not fair. GIRLS DON't make our Lunches."

"Because Mikes's Girlfriend isn't a Bitch and he treats her like a princess. Your Girlfriend Garreth is in prison for your weed. Hendersen YOU HAVE A MORMON FOR A GIRLFRIEND. BY THE TIME YOU GEt ACTION YOU'lLL BE EXPECTING NUMBER 9. Jared we talked about this- YOU FUCKERS ATE GANDOLF and BILBO.

"WE left you the shire." The group of younger boys looked at him pointing out the veggies and Eddie sat back and ate his Shire in silence. As he opened the third layer Eddie felt like he was opening a prize box.

Inside was Chinese food heaven-fried wings chicken fried rice and sweet and sour sauce HE ate with gusto. Each bite was heaven and he couldn't help it the whole time he smiled and he pulled the box closer almost like an animal. The boys complained and Eddie through his lunch sack with the tuna sandwich on the table. " BE Fiends over that." he laughed and kept eating . Just before he got to the last box he looked at his flannel and the sleeves and thought of her fingers. Would they ever touch his skin he wondered?

Inside the last box were 10 letters all written by someone who couldn't have been older than 5. His name was on every envelope so he sat there wondering where they had come from before heading off flannel in hand and dropping the box on your table and the ten letters hidden in the special pocket his jacket had.

Y/n sighed in relief. The plan had been to make him sweets but now she knew their sweets she didn't know how to make and it scared her. Robin looked at her with green eyes as if to say spill it.

" I gave him some letters from when I wrote to him as a kid... I used to write to him all the time...." Y/n confessed not saying his name knowing that rumors went fast around high school.

"Wait you wrote to him?" Robin asked confused.

"We hung out every day so when we moved I missed him. Forgot his address and I just kept writing to him even after I got older..." Y/n shrugged like it was something unimportant to share.

Robin could tell they were important and so was the work she put into making him and her friends lunch," He might be dense but he will figure it out, I promise."

"If he doesn't?" Y/n asked sadly putting all three empty containers into her paper bag.

Robin didn't have an answer and Y/n felt sick to her stomach so she told Robin she'd walk home. Robin didn't know you had another note from Chrissy and that you'd seen her spray her perfume on him as he sniffed her. It always seemed like Eddie wouldn't look at you. He wouldn't see you but he could see a pretty girl like Chrissy.

Y/n was walking herself to class when Jason tried to pull her into a dark room, but Eddie was nearby and grabbed her hand and pulled her into the empty classroom, and locked the doors before holding out all ten opened letters," What are these?" his voice shook his brown eyes were full of hurt.

Y/n swallowed nervously," Letters I wrote when I was little... To you."

"Bullshit. You paid someone's kid to write these." He snapped eyes watering

"No, Eddie I would never..."

"What get up and leave me with no one to count on anymore. Here's the thing... I almost wish you stayed gone ya know. Then I wouldn't be so confused."

Eddie unlocked the door and took his seat and y/n wandered away tears flowing down her face toward home. No one saw her leave the building or the rainstorm outside brewing.
