Wir gehen wieder in die Vergangenheit…💥 ⬇️ First Class Titanic,1912. • • • Die Fotos wurden nur wenige Wochen vor dem Untergang am 15. April 1912 aufgenommen. 🚢 Das Gym war komplett ausgestattet mit Gewichten, Boxsäcken, Rudergeräten, Fahrräder und andere Widerstandsgeräte. Für damalige Verhältnisse absolute High Performance. Die Turnhalle befand sich am Steuerbord beim Bootsdeck, in der Nähe der großen Treppe. Passagiere bezahlten 0,25$ pro Einheit. Das Fitnessstudio wurde von Thomas McCawley beaufsichtigt, der als Trainer im Fitnessstudio arbeitete. Er ist auf dem letzten Foto auf dem Rudergerät zu sehen. Während das Schiff sank, blieb Thomas auf dem Schiff und half den Passagieren. I wanted it to be as close to the large scale model as possible. I even split it up into the three sections. My favorite aspect is the stern and bow of the ship. Also #felted this week a #oc of the #ghostcat of the #rmstitanic , inspired by #currentevents and the film that scared me as a child #titanicmovie by #jamescameron , the film was beautiful and well written, but when I was around 7 or 8 and the scene that scared me the most was seeing the frozen bodies in the ocean. Then my older sister took advantage of this and tormented me with the titanic, by drawing pictures of the ship sinking, playing #myheartwillgoon by #celinedion , and borrowed a book from the library about the titanic. Sono passati esattamente 109 anni dalla tragica notte a cavallo tra il il 14 ed il 15 aprile 1912. Oggi si celebra il ricordo dell’affondamento del transatlantico Titanic, all’epoca era considerato la “massima espressione della tecnologia navale del tempo” ed era il più grande e lussuoso transatlantico del mondo. Ma questo non bastò certo ad evitare la tragedia che si consumò durante il suo viaggio inaugurale (da Southampton a New York, via Cherbourg e Queenstown). Nella notte tra il 14 e il 15 aprile 1912, entrò in collisione con un iceberg: un impatto devastante e letale che provocò l’apertura di alcune falle sotto la linea di galleggiamento; la nave iniziò ad imbarcare acqua, fino alle 2:30 circa di notte quando si spezzò in due, prima di inabissarsi definitivamente. Nel naufragio persero la vita tra le 1490 e le 1523 persone, compresi i membri dell’equipaggio; solo 700 persone circa riuscirono a sopravvivere.

⚓RMS Mauretania was remarkably similar in appearance to the famous RMS Titanic, although RMS Mauretania had her maiden voyage on November 16, 1907: five years before RMS Titanic. ⚓According to the Paris Review, “Mauretania, possibly derived from a native word or from the Greek for ‘dark’ (or ‘obscure’)—the root that eventually informed the term Moor.” The story of RMS Mauretania begins with SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, the German ocean liner that was once considered to be the world’s fastest and largest ship. ⚓When measured in 1897, SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse was able to reach a top speed of 22 knots (25 mph). By doing so, the vessel managed to take the title of the fastest Atlantic-crossing passenger liner from the Cunard Line’s RMS Campania. ⚓In no time, German vessels became the most dominant in the waters of the Atlantic. By the start of 1906, Germany already had five ships cruising the Atlantic, four of which were under the ownership of Norddeutscher Lloyd. ⚓During this same period, the International Mercantile Marine Co., owned by J. P. Morgan, acquired the famous British shipping company the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company – commonly known as the White Star Line. White Star Line owned RMS Titanic and were rivals of Cunard. ⚓In 1902, the British Government made the decision to build their own high-speed vessel, intended to be even faster than SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse. Construction of the new vessel was a joint venture between the Cunard Line and the British Government. ⚓With a loan of £2.6 million, equating to roughly £250 million or $380 million in today’s money, the construction of two seafaring vessels commenced. Their names were Mauretania and Lusitania. They were both designed by master engineer Leonard Peskett. ⚓Peskett had help from Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson and John Brown & Company, who made sure that RMS Mauretania would surpass the top speed of the aforementioned German ship.
