I didn’t fall asleep last night until after 6am and I ended up sleeping in till almost 12.
Then when I got up, I basically fell back asleep in my living room, going in an out of consciousness for like 5 hours because I had cramps.
And now it’s 3:45am and I am still wide awake. Looks like it’s going to be a repeat of last night.

Well, it's about that time again, and...I got really shafted by this daylight savings crap. I worked a closing shift yesterday, and I have a morning shift today. And it's all stormy and rainy out! It really makes me want to go back to bed. That, and I missed when my friends were playing games together, because I took a nap and woke up at the time we normally meet for this sort of thing, only that's suddenly wrong. Why do we do this to our own measurement of time? Can you imagine if we decided to invalidate our other units for no good reason? Like, "Oh, there was a solar eclipse, so we didn't see the sun, so this doesn't count as a day, so tomorrow is also the 10th." Or, "Oh, whenever you're counting miles, always skip 12, because that movie The Green Mile came out in a December." And now that I think about it, in the book that I'm writing, the apocalypse really kicks off around March, so what if we broke the time and never fixed it? Don't you think that's rude, if Lyla Brangwyn, dog-eared scholar of the end-times, comes by our ruins and asks for the time, and we give her an answer that's wrong on purpose? Why would someone do that to Lyla?

A loud, angry voice wakes Minnie from her sleep.
It takes her a few moments to process the change, but once she does, she focuses on finding the source of the bad noise. It's coming from below her, a few floors down. She can't understand the words - Mommy says people speak lots of different languages so this must be one of them - but she knows it is Mister Chavez. He's a nice man who helps Mommy with the trash, sometimes. Minnie likes him.
She lets her ears open up more and quickly finds out why he is so grumpy - he is watching television. She recognizes the sounds as some sort of sport. Mommy says sometimes people yell at their television when watching sports because they love their team and get excited - but they aren't really angry. That makes her feel better - she doesn't like it when people are angry. It's scary.
But he is still being loud, and even though she knows he's not really mad, she doesn't want to hear him. Minnie wants to listen to good noises when she sleeps.
Her favorite noise to sleep to is her Mommy's heart and it can make all the bad noises go away and right now, she wants to be extra close so it's really loud.
So, Minnie reaches up and pulls her sleep headband down so it's around her neck and rolls out of bed.
Mommy went to sleep the same time she did, which is weird because Mommy also took a nap with her after they came back from the park. Mommy doesn't take naps - she's an Adult, but all day she's been sleepy. She doesn't understand why - they didn't do anything Big, like go somewhere special or do lots of things.
Minnie crosses the short distance between her bed and her Mommy's and quickly climbs up the bigger one. Mommy is on her back and under her covers, still asleep. The loud noises don't bother her because she can't hear them like Minnie and Daddy can. That makes Minnie happy - Mommy needs lots of sleep.
But she's hogging all the blankets and Minnie wants to get under them, too, so she shakes her shoulder, “Mommy, share the blankie.”
Nothing happens.
Minnie pouts and shakes her again, just a little harder, “Mommy, I'm cold, too.”
Mommy makes an upset noise in her throat, but she doesn't wake up or give up any of the blanket. Minnie frowns and looks back to her bed - she could get her blanket if Mommy doesn't want to share, but she likes Mommy’s blanket more. It smells like her.
Maybe she can crawl in from the bottom, near Mommy's feet.
As she considers this option, something new catches her attention.
Something smells stinky.
It doesn't smell stinky like the train or the monster her Daddy chased away a few nights ago - she doesn't know this smell, but she quickly decides she doesn't like it. It smells like wet and dirty and it's really close. It is inside the bedroom. She turns to start looking around, trying to find where it is coming from. Nothing in the room looks different and she knows things don't just get stinky. Something has to happen to make it stinky. She closes her eyes and opens her mouth a little like Daddy taught her, and breaths in through her nose. The smell is stronger behind her, so she tries to follow it, crawling closer.
She runs right into Mommy.
The bad smell is coming from her.
Minnie doesn't understand. Mommy never smells bad, ever, and she didn't smell bad before they went to sleep. Why does Mommy smell bad now?
She tries to wake her up again, shaking her shoulder hard, but Mommy just scrunches up her face. She doesn't wake up.
Minnie is starting to get scared.
“Mommy, wake up!” She tries tugging the blanket next, but it is wrapped tight. Her next idea is to start patting her face and that is when Minnie gets her next clue.
Mommy's skin is really warm, like she's been in the sun, and she's sweaty. Did Mommy go outside when Minnie was sleeping?
But that doesn't make sense, the sun isn't up. It's night time and Mommy wouldn't leave her alone during the night. Mommy never leaves her alone - she always has a babysitter.
Why would Mommy be hot and sweaty and stinky and not wake up?
She sticks her fingers in her mouth and starts to suck on them as she thinks hard - like she's trying to figure out a puzzle.
Minnie gasps when she realizes it - Mommy is sick!
Mommy has never been sick before, not that Minnie can remember, and if she's sick, she needs a doctor. Minnie knows how to be a doctor!
No longer as scared now that she knows what is wrong, Minnie slides off the bed and hurries to her toy chest. She has a whole doctor kit full of all sorts of things - it even has a doctor's coat and glasses. She takes the big bag out and sets it on the ground so she can pull out the costume and put it on. She has to push up the sleeves because they are too long, but it doesn't matter.
Now she's Doctor Minnie and can help her Mommy.
She hikes the bag up on her shoulder and brings it back to the bed. It takes her a few tries to get it up beside her Mommy - the bed is high up and the bag is heavy - but once it is, she climbs up too and starts looking through her supplies.
She pulls out the step-scope first and puts the plugs into her ears. She doesn't need it to listen to Mommy's heart, but doctor's do, so she's going to use it. She puts the end-circle on Mommy's chest and listens Hard. Her heart doesn't sound any different than normal. It is a little faster, like she's been walking around a lot, but that isn't weird. Minnie is used to that sound - so it's not why Mommy is sick. She puts her step-scope back into her bag and takes out the next tool.
She knows the little hammer is supposed to be used to hit her Mommy's knees, but they are under the covers, so she isn't sure if it will work. She tries anyway. She bonks where she thinks her knees are and absolutely nothing happens. She isn't surprised - Mommy's head smells stinky, not her legs. That is not why she is sick.
Her next toy is the therm-o-meter. She puts it against her Mommy's forehead and presses the button. The toy lights up, the screen flashing red a few times before becoming solid. She brings it closer to her face to examine. She doesn't know what the numbers mean, but she guesses it says her Mommy is sick.
She turns off that toy then starts digging in the bag again, looking at what she has to help. She finds the band-aida first, which won't help at all. That is for boo-boos and Mommy doesn't have one of those. She finds what she needs at the bottom of the bag and removes it carefully. She doesn't know what it is called but it gives shots - and shots help people not be sick. Mommy told her that - that's why she has to go get them from the doctor.
Shots go in the arm, so Minnie needs to move the blanket out of the way. Mommy wrapped herself up tight, so it is hard, but she manages to pull it enough so her shoulder is out. That is part of the arm, so it counts. She doesn't want to mess up, so Minnie takes her time picking up the shot-giver and pulling back the pusher. She places it in the middle of Mommy's arm, as low as she can get it, then pushes the pusher back down slowly. Once it's all the way down, she sets the toy aside. She remembers that shots do get a band aid, so she takes one out of the box and opens it. It's pink, to match the rest of the set, and it goes over where Minnie gave her Mommy the shot.
To make sure it works extra well, Minnie adds a kiss, then sits back to wait.
She starts sucking on her fingers again, not to help her think, but because it helps her not be scared - and she's scared her Mommy isn't going to wake up. She doesn't know how long she is supposed to wait for medicine to work - when she plays Doctor with her toys it is always right away. But Mommy isn't a toy. She sits and waits for what feels like at least thirty-two minutes before she tries shaking her Mommy again, “Wake up. Mommy, wake up, please. You gotta wake up.”
She doesn't wake up. She doesn't stop being stinky. She stays asleep and sick.
Minnie doesn't like this. She wants her Mommy to wake up and hug her and tell her it is okay. She doesn't understand why she won't wake up.
Minnie gave her a shot - that should have made her better, right?
Does she need to go to the real doctor? She can't go to the real doctor if she is asleep and Minnie doesn't know how to call the doctor to tell him to come.
Minnie sniffles, trying to hold back from crying. She has to be a big girl, she can't be a baby - being a baby won't help Mommy. She wipes at her eyes with the sleeve of her doctor's coat and tries her bestest to think.
What did Mommy say in their last Big Girl Talk?
They talked about what it means to have a Daddy now. Mommy had told her that meant he was like Mommy, but a boy, and anything that Minnie went to her for, she could also talk to Daddy about.
Maybe Daddy can help Mommy, like he helped with the Monster.
But Daddy isn't here. He doesn't live with them.
But maybe he can hear her? He has really good hearing like Minnie does.
With a new plan in mind, Minnie climbs off the bed and leaves the bedroom. The fan and a/c make lots of noise and he might not hear her over them. The living room is quiet, though, and she gets up onto the couch before looking straight up at the ceiling. Daddy was up there last time.
“Daddy?” She asks, “Daddy, are you there?”
She waits, but there is no answer. Maybe she needs to be louder? So, she tries again, speaking in her Outside Voice.
“Daddy, it's Minnie. Daddy? Can you hear me? I need you, please, thank you.”
The only response she gets is the city. It's not as loud as normal, there's not as many cars or people because it's night - people sleep at night. Maybe he is asleep and can't hear her? Or he is too far away and his hearing can't reach her.
If he is too far away to hear with his ears, she has to find another way for him to hear her. Mommy talks to him on her phone when he is far away, so she has to try that next.
Mommy keeps her phone next to her bed, so Minnie goes back into the bedroom. She's not supposed to play with the phone, but this isn't playing - this is an Emergency. She's allowed to use it for emergencies - even though she never has before. She knows how to unlock it - the numbers are her birthday - and the screen lights up. She looks from the bright phone back to her Mommy sleeping on the bed. It's rude to talk on the phone when someone is sleeping, so back out to the living room and the couch she goes.
She settles into the cushions then stares at the phone. She knows how to bring up YouTube but not how to call someone, but she can talk to the phone and tell it what to do. She's done that before and Mommy does it all the time. She just has to say the magic words.
“Hey, Siri, call Daddy, please, thank you.”
The phone lights up as it thinks, then the robot-lady in the phone says, “Uh-oh, I do not have a phone number for Daddy.”
Minnie pouts at the phone - she knows that isn't true. Mommy calls Daddy all the time. Then it occurs to her Mommy doesn't call him Daddy. She has to use his grown up name. She tries again, “Siri, please call Mister Matt, please, thank you.”
“Calling Matt Murdock,” the robot-lady says and a moment later, ringing starts coming through the phone. Minnie quickly holds it up to her ear and waits for him to answer.
He doesn't answer. It just rings and rings until another robot-lady starts talking instead, but Minnie doesn't want to talk to her, so she presses the big red button to end the call.
She doesn't know why he didn't answer. His hearing is extra good, so if he was sleeping, he should have heard it - like Minnie heard Mister Chavez. She tries to think of why he wouldn't answer and decides he must not have his phone - Mommy does that sometimes. She forgets her phone places, like she'll leave it in the bathroom.
Maybe he left his phone in the bathroom.
She makes another attempt, telling the phone again to call her Daddy but nothing changes. Only the robot-lady talks to her.
Minnie glares at the phone as she tries to figure out what to do. Mommy needs a doctor and Daddy isn't answering.
Her conclusion is she needs another Adult. She doesn't know many Adults. She knows Miss Apple, who runs Daycare, and Miss Linda, but Minnie doesn't think she is supposed to call them. Mommy never talks to them on the phone, even if they are Adults.
Daddy's friends are Adults, though, and she heard Miss Karen and Froggy tell Mommy to call if she ever needs anything, so maybe it is okay to call them? Minnie hopes so.
Froggy is Daddy’s bestest friend, so that is who she decides to call. If he doesn't answer, she will call Miss Karen. She wipes at her face again, clearing away any tears, then asks the robot-lady, “Hey Siri, call Froggy, please, thank you.”
The phone starts to ring and, to her great delight and relief, is answered after only a few moments. It sounds like he almost drops it before she can hear him breathing directly into her ear.
“‘lo?” A very tired sounding Froggy asks.
“Froggy!” She tries her best to not yell, but she is so happy he answered the phone and now she can help Mommy. Part of her wants to cry because she is happy, but she still needs to be a Big Girl.
She can hear lots of movement on the other end of the call before he answers her, “Minnie, is that you?” He sounds very Worried.
“Yes,” is her response, because it is her. She knows she is supposed to wait for more questions, but she can't help herself. She does her best to not rush out her words.“I need help, please, thank you. Mommy is sick and she won't wake up and she needs to go to the doctor.”
Froggy says a Bad Word, then, “where are you, Minnie?”
“I'm on the couch. It's rude to talk on the phone when someone is sleeping,” she explains, then adds, “Mommy is in bed.”
“Okay. Okay. Did you try to call your Daddy?” He asks. She can hear him moving around a lot more now and that makes her happy. He's going to come help her and she doesn't need to be scared. Froggy is an Adult and can take Mommy to the doctor and she can get better.
“He didn't answer. I tried two times and he's not outside. I can't hears him outside,” she tells him. Froggy knows she and Daddy can hear everything, so that is important to let him know that.
“Of course, he didn't answer,” Froggy says, then he says another Bad Word in a grumpy voice, before his voice gets Nice again, “Okay, sweetie, can you listen to me?”
“I'm listening!” She can listen really good and follow directions. She's a Big Girl.
“I'm going to call your Daddy. He has a…different phone he uses at night. I'm going to call that phone and tell him he needs to come over, okay? And I'm going to come over, too,” he explains.
“A different phone…?” She doesn't understand why he would have more than one but maybe it is an Adult thing.
“Yeah, sweetie, a different phone. But to call it, I need to not be on the phone with you. Is that okay?” Froggy asks.
“You're both gonna come?”
“We're both gonna come,” he promises, “I'll keep calling him until he answers, and we're gonna come over and take care of you and your Mommy. Okay?”
Minnie starts to suck on her finger as she thinks over what he said. She wants to stay on the phone with Froggy - she’s scared and she doesn't want to be alone while her Mommy is sick, but he needs to call her Daddy. Mommy needs Daddy more than Minnie needs Froggy. Part of being a Big Girl is being brave when things are scary and she needs to be brave for her Mommy. She drops her hand to her lap and mumbles, “Okay.”
“Okay, Minnie,” Froggy says, then he gets a nice voice again and she can tell he is smiling, “You did a really good job calling me. I'm proud of you.”
The words make her smile, too, and she tells him, “I'm being a Big Girl.”
“Yes, you are,” he agrees, “You are being such a big girl right now. Your Mommy and Daddy are going to be proud, too. Now, I'm going to hang up and call your Daddy. He might get there before me, but I'm on my way, too. If anything happens, you can call me back, and I'll answer. Understand?”
“I understand,” she says, because she does. Froggy will answer his phone if Minnie calls him. Even if it is night time and everyone else is sleeping.
“Okay, good girl. I'm hanging up now, okay?”
“Okay. Bye-bye,” she says because that is how Mommy says to end a call. She lowers the phone from her face and hits the big red button.
She decides to keep the phone with her and slides off the couch, putting it into her doctor's coat pocket.
Now that she has called an Adult to help, Minnie doesn't know what she's supposed to do, but she does know she wants something to hug to make her feel better. She goes back to the bedroom and grabs Pig and Scooby off her bed before squeezing them tightly to her. They are soft and smell like Mommy and Daddy and make things less scary. Everything will be okay if she has them.
She looks over to where Mommy is sleeping and frowns. She hasn't moved at all since Minnie went to try to call Daddy. Minnie sucks on her lip since her hands are busy holding her toys and tries to figure out what to do next, but all she can think about is how sad Mommy looks in bed.
Does Mommy know she's sick and that's why she won't wake up? Is she scared like Minnie is?
Minnie doesn't want her to be scared.
She rocks side to side for a moment as she thinks over how to make her Mommy not be scared, then slowly makes her way to the bed. She sets Pig down in the ground then, with Scooby Doo in her arms, crawls up to be next to her Mommy. With great care, she places him next to the pillow, then leans in to whisper, “Scooby, you need to watch over, Mommy, okay? I gotta go wait for Daddy and Froggy.”
She pats Scooby on his big head before slowly bending over to give her Mommy a kiss on the cheek, “Don't be scared, Mommy, Scooby knows a lot about being brave when you're scared…and he'll keep you safe, okay?”
Mommy doesn't respond.
Her doctor glasses fall off as she slides back to the floor and she knows she should pick them up, but she doesn't. Instead, she picks up Pig and goes back out to the living room. She opens up her ears again as she does - Mister Chavez is still watching his sports but the rest of the building is quiet. Everyone else is sleeping, even the doggies and kitties.
She tries to listen for Daddy and Froggy as she sits down in front of the television. She closes her eyes and remembers what Daddy said about looking for things. She has to Turn Off the sounds she doesn't want, like turning off the television. She squeezes Pig tight to her and tries really really hard.
Daddy isn't an animal, so she can turn off the doggies barking and the rats getting their dinners. There are no birdies or alleycats around to send away.
“Bye-bye,” she mumbles and closes her ears to them. Her little section of the world slowly gets quieter until she's pretty sure there are no more animals left to distract her.
Next is city noises.
There aren't many cars out on her block - just a taxi man listening to music. He's not Daddy, so she says goodbye to him, too, before he goes away. His car disappears around with him, since there is no one else in there with the taxi man.
Her head is really starting to hurt from all the loud noises she hasn't turned off yet. It's making her dizzy because it's coming from all over and it's hard to understand what it all is. Everything is starting to just become one big scream and she can't tell what is what.
“MINNIE!”
She hears her Daddy’s voice through all the other noises loud and clear and she can't be a Big Girl anymore.
She bursts into tears and begins crying loudly.
She doesn't want to be brave anymore. She's scared. She wants her Mommy to wake up and not be sick. She wants to get into bed and cuddle and watch cartoons on the StarkPad.
She wants her Mommy.
She wants her Daddy.
She turns off her ears and sobs and sobs until two strong arms wrap around her and she is crushed into her Daddy's chest. She clings to him, burying her face into his neck and lets him overwhelm her senses until she can't cry anymore.
Little Doctor Minnie passes out from sheer exhaustion, cradled in the arms of the Devil of Hell's Kitchen.

-he'll take you out to the movies, not to watch a romantic movie
-Patrick will do his research to find the most scary horror movie playing right now
-if you think he's taking you there so you'd cuddle into him....ahahaha aren't you delusional
-he'll laugh his head off when he sees you scared, pure happiness
-if you try covering your face, he'll take his hands, place them on your head and will force you to watch that movie
-After it ends..he'll still scare you in ways (making you jump etc)
-if you're in the right state of mind, you wouldn't go near him again...but if you're THAT crazy over him...goodluck

-if you ask him out infront of the gang, he'd say no just because he wants to act 'cool' in front of the guys
-but when he's alone he'll come upto you and say he actually will go out with you and apologises
-probably had no clue where to take you so you two just end up in a park talking all night
-I feel like he would be very awkward at first but after awhile he'll loosen up and be really cool
-when you two get tired of talking, you'll just end up making out lol

9:30 am:
i woke up to the sound of the white noise coming from my nightstand. thank god i didn't wake up to the sound of crying. chris and i came back from the hospital about 6 months ago and our daughter, amaya, was born and she's been great.
i rub my eyes together and look at the crib next to our shared bed to see amaya still sleeping. i contently sigh to myself, knowing i had at least a few minutes to myself this morning.
i quietly get up from my bed and head over to the bathroom. i do my skincare, brush my teeth, and fix my hair before going back to my room, noticing amaya has woken up.
"hi baby." i smile down at my daughter. all she did back was give a tired smile. i pick her up out the crib and move over to chris's side of the bed. "we're gonna wake up daddy."
i sit down near the edge where chris was sleeping. i stroke and kiss his cheek. he hums and shifts under the covers before sitting up. "who's that? is that dada?" i say, laughing softly with my amaya.
"hey kiddo, c'mere." he says, taking her from my arms. he holds her tightly to his chest and gestures for me to come closer. "morning mama," he says, kissing my neck.

10:45 am:
after we had breakfast, we were supposed to go shopping, so we did exactly that.
"okay baby, lets put your shoes on." i grab amaya's shoes and start to put the on her and chris brings he jacket from upstairs to me. i put that on her as well and put her in the carseat. "aren't you just the cutest thing?" i kiss her cheek and put her in the car.
chris comes down from the house and gets into the car. "you ready?" he asks me.
"mhm," i murmur out, already tired and the day hasn't even started.

12pm:
when we had gotten back from the store and amaya was already down for her nap, chris and i lay on the couch, watching tv. we're in a cuddling position where i'm laying in a ball on his lap and chest and he's supporting me.
"you know," i start. "you're a really good dad."
he chuckles lightly and let's out an, "i try, mama."
"i mean helping out with her jacket this morning, the groceries, picking them out and bringing them in..."
"baby, i do this everyday, why are you just saying something now?"
"i'm just lucky to have you." i kiss his jaw.
"see that ring on your finger?" he points to the ring. "we made a deal, and this all comes with that."
i laugh, "i love you."
"i love you more." he kisses my head.

Y/N NEVER THOUGHT SHE WOULD SPEND HER MORNING THIS WAY, the unfamiliarity of this foreign place had her questioning how her life turned out the way it did. Becoming a witness to a heinous crime was already overwhelming enough for her, and now sitting in this cold, empty interrogation room was making her lose her mind.
She had never thought of being in this situation—a scenario that solely belonged to crime novels and thrilling movies. Yet, here she was, feeling more uncomfortable as time passed by. She slowly glanced toward the two-way mirror and the thought of watchful eyes observing her every movement intensified her discomfort, leaving her feeling judged and exposed. But above all that, there was one question that seemed to float at the top of her head.
Was Spencer there?
She heaved out a sigh. The one time she allowed herself to indulge further with her one-night-stand, it didn’t go the way she expected. She had thought that maybe—maybe—opening her heart was something she could try again. After a long time of not wanting to be romantically involved with anyone, waking up in his bed hadn’t seemed so bad...
Now it was just wishful thinking, her past naive self becoming a mockery to her now.
She was engrossed in her own thoughts when the door to her left suddenly creaked, drawing her attention, and she couldn't stifle the disbelief laugh slipping through her mouth.
"Out of all the agents in this building and they decided to send you?" She wondered as Spencer cautiously walked into the room with a file in his hand. "Isn't this against the rules?"
"What is?" He asked, pulling out the chair across from her.
"Questioning someone you know personally."
He regarded her with a look she couldn't quite decipher. Something about him seemed so different, it was baffling how someone could change so drastically in such a short period. Last night he had been sweet, attentive, and full of affection. But now, as she looked at him, it was as if he had morphed into a completely different person. The warmth that had once radiated from his eyes was replaced by a distant, guarded gaze.
Spencer Reid and Doctor Reid were really two different people.
"My personal matters won't intervene in the work I do."
"Somehow I doubt that," she murmured, watching as he sat down. She leaned back and crossed her arms. If he was going to act like they hadn't spent the night sleeping on the same bed, she might as well give him the same reserved attitude. "So, what now? Are we going to continue where we left off?"
"Actually, there's something else I'd like to know." He pushed the folder in his hand across the table and opened it. "I'm aware that you were associated with Harvey Webb?"

A sudden chill ran down her spine as the name slipped from his mouth. It was the last person she wanted to remember, a name she had fought so hard to push into the depths of her subconscious. But now it all came rushing back, threatening to engulf her in a wave of memories. She saw glimpses of piercing eyes that held malice, a voice dripping with menace, and a presence that loomed like an ominous shadow.
As she laid her eyes upon the files in front of her, a shiver coursed through her body. The face that stared back at her from the photograph was etched with lines of time. His eyes, once filled with unsettling intensity, now bore the weight of years gone by, their depths guarded and inscrutable.
"Why are you showing me this?" She asked quietly, trying to think of any possible reason why she was forced to recall her past.
"Did you know him?"
With a hesitant pause, she uncrossed her arms. "I did."
"And how did you know him?"
"He—" she stopped, trying to decide how to describe the nature of her relationship with that awful, dreadful man, and finally responded with, "He was my landlord."
"Was that all there is? Was your relationship with him simply one between a landlord and a tenant?"
She met his gaze. "What are you trying to imply?"
"One of our agents visited his wife before this."
Oh.
This was probably why he seemed so guarded, his words laced with a hint of something familiar yet unspoken. She was sure he already knew what happened. It was in the way he carefully chose his phrases, the slight pause that followed, and the knowing glimmer in his eyes that gave it away. But even when the buried memories were fighting to resurface in her head, a sense of unease gripped her. Why was he delving into her past?
"Why are you—" She shook her head. "What does he have to do with the current case?"
There was a pause before Spencer replied, "We believe he might be a link to the investigation."
She narrowed her eyes. "How?"
The room suddenly fell into an uneasy silence, punctuated only by the quiet hum of tension that seemed to hang in the air. Their eyes locked.
"Let's make a deal," he suggested. "If you answer all the questions I have for you, I'll tell you what you want to know."
She considered his words and slowly nodded. "Fine," she agreed. "But you probably know who he was to me if one of your agents had already questioned Mrs. Webb."
"I want to hear it from you."
The weight of her past bore down upon her, pressing against her conscience. She understood, with unwavering certainty, that the time had come to lay bare the chapters of her history that she had kept hidden. With a breath that carried the weight of her past, she finally mustered the courage to speak her truth.
"Harvey and I had an affair."
A subtle change swept across his face as her words hung in the air. His expression remained stoic, a reflection of the knowledge he carried within him. She wasn't sure how much he already knew, but she continued.
"It wasn't my proudest moment," she admitted. "I was young, it was my first time in the city and I got this great apartment at an affordable price. Harvey helped me when I moved in so we talked a lot back then and easily became friends. He eventually mentioned how his divorce had gotten to him very badly, and I... I guess I took pity on him."
"He told you he was divorced?"
"Yeah, he told me the property that he owned, this apartment building of his, was the only asset he got for their divorce settlement. I was too young and naive to even consider he could be lying, I guess I was too smitten by the attention he constantly gave me."
"How long did it happen?"
"A couple of months. It wasn't until he kept on disappearing that I started to suspect him. He said he had to go out of town for his work, but curiosity got the better of me and I decided to follow him one day." She gave him a pointed look. "Turned out he wasn't leaving town, he was going back home to his wife and kids."
"What happened then?"
"I confronted him about it..." Her body shifted uncomfortably. "That was when I realized how messed up he really was."
"What do you mean?"
"Harvey was a manipulative son of a bitch." He raised his eyebrows at her choice of words, which she shrugged in return. There really was no other way to describe him. "It was as if a switch had turned inside him the moment I confronted his lies. He became overbearing, controlling, possessive, and just—he became someone I was very afraid of."
He studied her closely, trying to decipher the unspoken layers of her narrative, the nuances hidden beneath the surface. "Did he ever hurt you?"
“Physically? No—well, there was this one time he got physical when he got so mad, but that was it," she confessed as her past flashed through her mind. "Although mentally, he was draining me. He would often threaten to harm me, or himself, if I ever left him. I think he was also diagnosed with a lot of mental disorders."
"Was his wife aware of everything happening?"
She nodded. "One day I visited their house when he wasn't home and confronted her about everything. Instead of blaming her husband's questionable behavior, she blamed me for ruining their marriage and started calling me a slutty home wrecker."
"Did he find out about this?"
"Yes," she replied. "He was not happy about it."
"And how did you get out of that situation?"
"I got accepted for the current job I work at now."
"He was fine with that?"
"I didn't tell him about it." She looked down, her gaze focusing on her hands sitting in her lap. "I had to move my things secretly whenever he went home to his family. When most of the stuff I needed was secured at my new place, I finally left, changed my number, and never looked back."
"You never saw him again after that?"
"The next time I heard of him was his own obituary printed on the paper." As the weight of her past slipped into the open, exhaustion suddenly settled over her. Her gaze then flickered toward the files on the table. "Now will you tell me how he's linked to the case?"
Spencer’s attention was completely focused on her, analyzing every detail of her movements. He paid close attention to the way she shifted in her seat, the way she blinked, and the way she tilted her head. "Were you aware of how he died?"
"Yes, he... he hurt himself."
Spencer shook his head, the lines on his forehead etched themselves deeper, highlighting the concentration etched upon his features. He leaned forward, his movements deliberate and controlled, as he turned the files over, taking out a few pictures before presenting them in front of her. "We believe his death was a homicide."
"What?" Her eyes widened in surprise as she gazed at the collection of photographs spread out before her. She should be appalled by the amount of blood seen in the shots, but her eyes darted across the blotched writing carved along the bruised skin. "Something was written on his arm?"
"You didn't know?"
"Of course not, why should I know of this?" She glanced up and was taken aback when she noticed the same doubt on his face she saw this morning. Her heart sank as the realization washed over her like a chilling wave. "You're still pining me down as a suspect."
"Your personal connections to all three victims have raised some concerns," he pointed out, voice carrying a controlled intensity, each word measured and deliberate. "And what's even more concerning is that they all had somehow wronged you in the past."
She suddenly felt a surge of anger as he leveled his accusations. Her lips thinned into a tight line, and her eyes narrowed as all her frustration and tension bubbled over. "I had nothing to do with their deaths."
"So it's a coincidence that they all suffered the consequences of their actions that affected you directly?"
"Just because I had issues with them doesn't mean I'd resort to murder," she spat. "Why are you so persistent in painting me as a suspect?"
"Your past grievances with these victims paint the picture." Spencer leaned forward, his palms pressed firmly against the cool surface of the table. His eyes, narrowed with determination, locked onto hers with palpable intensity. "Tell me, do you have an alibi for the times of their deaths?"
She leaned forward and held his gaze, not wanting to back down. "I'm not responsible for any deaths, so no, I don't have an alibi for something I didn't do."
"That's a very vague answer."
"You don't say?" She responded sarcastically. "Are you going to dump me with facts on how my body language is being defensive right now?"
"Would it help you to answer my questions clearly?"
She felt her patience breaking. She had been doing her best to remain calm and collected, but as his gaze remained fixed on her and he continued judging her with that harsh stare, she finally snapped.
"You know what, you want an alibi? I'll give you a damn alibi."
The tension she had been holding in her body suddenly exploded. With every inhale, her chest tightened, a reservoir of pent-up emotions yearning for release. And then, like an unleashed storm, she let it all pour forth.
"According to his obituary, Harvey Webb's death happened on Halloween and that was when I attended this stupid party held at the office. I was in the parking lot when Jamison called for my help before I scurried back only to witness his death. And don't get me started on Kevin Marshall."
She steadied her gaze on him.
"I studied his files for work so I'm aware of the time frame when it happened, and for someone with an eidetic memory, you sure had forgotten where I was that night so let me help you jog your memory back, Doctor Reid, because I spent the night in your bed before you fucking kicked me out the door!"
A heavy silence settled upon them only to be broken by her labored breathing and the pounding of her heart.
Had she really said that?
Y/n was never one with a foul mouth, but with the way the cuss word flew out of her lips in the heat of the moment, it was clear to her how furious she was. Although she did feel a sense of relief as if a huge burden had been lifted off her shoulders after speaking her truth... But at what cost?
The room seemed to hold its breath, suspended in a fragile stillness, as his eyes locked onto hers. The weight of her words settled between them, casting a heavy shadow in the room. And there he sat, frozen in the moment, his face etched with shock and surprise. His mouth opened and closed, but no words emerged, as if the force of her words had momentarily robbed him of his ability to respond.
She wondered what was going through his mind right now. Was he processing her words, attempting to unravel the layers of her frustrations? Or was he grappling with his own emotions, struggling to find the right words to respond?
And suddenly she couldn't take it anymore, feeling an overwhelming sense of exhaustion washing over her. All of the emotions unleashed during her frustrated rant had left her feeling drained. Every fiber of her being ached for respite and seeing him again felt like an additional burden she wasn't ready to bear. So she let her eyes fall on the two-way mirror, focusing in nowhere particular.
"I want to request another agent in here."
She noticed the way his shoulders tensed from the corner of her eyes but decided to ignore it, keeping her gaze on her reflection instead. And just as she was about to accept the fact that nobody was going to listen to her, the sound of the door opening echoed throughout the space, its noise cutting through the silence.
A dark-haired woman stood by the entry, her hand gripping the door as she focused her attention on the only man in the room. "Dr. Reid, I can take it from here."
The weight of the situation suddenly settled him. He studied the woman sitting across from him who was trying to maintain her control. But beneath it all, he saw the cracks in her facade, the vulnerabilities concealed beneath her frustration. It became clear that her actions, though seemingly distant and cold, were rooted in a desperate attempt to protect herself from further hurt.
And he was responsible for it all.
With a heavy sigh, Spencer finally rose from his seat, the chair scraping against the floor as he pushed it back. His mind was telling him he was only doing his job, yet his heart was pointing out the unfairness of his judgment of her. And for the first time in his life, he didn't know what to do.

"There you are," Emily announced, walking into the meeting room as she spotted Spencer standing by the large board adorned with webs of information, his back facing her. "Are you okay?"
Spencer turned around and regarded her with a sigh. "No."
She gave him a sad smile. "She left already." Then she crossed her arms, studying the way his expression fell at the mention of the woman she had questioned for the past hour. "Do you really think she has anything to do with the case?"
He opened his mouth, closed it, then shook his head, his shoulders dropping at the revelation of his words. "No."
"Then why were you being so hard on her?"
"I... I don't know."
As her gaze focused on his face, she observed the flash of vulnerability that briefly danced across his features. His eyes darted away, evading direct contact, betraying a flicker of unease that she couldn't ignore.
"I think you do," she noted. "I think you have this logic in your head that if she had something to do with the case, you'd have a reason to stop getting involved with her. But now that you know she's innocent, you think it's too complicated to harbor your feelings after the way you accused her. "
He drew his eyes back to her. "I thought we agreed not to profile each other."
"I wouldn't consider this profiling when you literally have your heart on your sleeves."
He let out a sigh, his voice trembling as he mustered the courage to acknowledge the truth of his actions and the pain he had caused. "What should I do?"
"You're asking the wrong person for relationship advice here," Emily remarked. "But what I do know is that if you wronged someone, you apologize."
But was it enough? Was apologizing to her enough to compensate for the hurt he had put her through?
Guilt has a funny way of coming after the moment has passed, like a relentless pursuer in the shadows of our conscience. Right now it was sneaking up on him, resurfacing with a relentless grip on his emotions. After he left the room, he got inside the small space behind the two-way mirror, continuing his job as an observer instead of the one questioning her.
Hotch had looked at him pointedly when he stepped to his side, and although his boss kept his mouth close the entire time, Spencer knew he was secretly assessing him with judgment. Especially when, after observing Y/n behind the glass, it was clear that she wasn't a suspect. He saw the scars of his misjudgment etched upon her face and the guardedness in her eyes.
It took him as an observer to comprehend she was innocent, that the darkness he had attributed to her was merely a reflection of his misguided assumptions. But it was too late now. He had allowed his biases to cloud his judgment, staining their relationship—or the potential of it anyway—with a hue of mistrust that was now difficult to wash away.
"I don't think she'll ever forgive me," he admitted, feeling dejected.
"Reid, you haven't even tried, and even if she won't, I'm sure you'll find a way to fix it." As the weighty words of their conversation hung in the air, a playful spark suddenly ignited in her eyes. "So."
Her teasing look cut through the tension, catching him off guard. "What?"
"I didn't know you had a girlfriend."
"She's not my girlfriend," he quickly responded.
"After all that tension between you two and you're still denying it?"
"She's—" he stopped. "I'm not sure what we are, honestly."
Emily let out a soft chuckle. "Well, any type of relationships are complicated. That's why I don't bother with them anymore." Her eyes then shifted behind him, noticing the numbers written on the board that wasn't there the last time she was here. "What do you have there?"
Spencer let out a sigh of relief. Her request to shift the conversation to something else offered him a lifeline, a respite from the vulnerability of delving into his own feelings. A flicker of gratitude flashed in his eyes as he realized that she had unknowingly granted him an escape from his discomfort.
"I did the geographical profiling and these numbers are each respective coordinates of the location where all the victims were found." Emily nodded and he continued, "Basically, I did a coordinate rounding to eliminate the decimals until I come up with two digits for each location."
"And you think these numbers mean something?"
"They must. Here, take a look at this." He motioned her to step closer toward the round table before showing her the map he had drawn over with his handwriting, highlighting three precise locations that formed a triangle. "Even when Harvey Webb wasn't found at his house, he was found at his apartment which was technically his second residence. The same goes for Kevin Marshall, his body was found at home."
Then he pointed at one of the marks located at the top of the map.
"But Jamison Lynch was found at his workplace. The Unsub must have a reason to commit the crime six blocks away from his house."
Emily scanned the map before turning her attention back to the board. "So these numbers represent each location? Eleven is the first victim's residence, ninety-one is the second victim's workplace, and nineteen is the third victim's apartment?"
"Precisely."
"You know," she started, head tilted to the side and eyes piercing onto the numbers presented before her. "The third victim is technically the first victim if you consider the timeline."
As her words lingered in the air, a spark of realization ignited within him. It was as if a puzzle piece he had been searching for had finally fallen into place. "Wait." He walked over and grabbed the marker by the table. "You're right."
Emily watched as he rearranged the line of numbers.

"Does that mean anything to you?"
But Spencer couldn't hear her, his head was already turning its gear as shreds of evidence he had gathered these past few days swarmed his mind. "The Unsub has the same MO in all the victims and they're fixated using verses from the bible so if those numbers have an indication of that conviction then the first two digits could be the number of The Old Testament which means—"
He quickly wrote down his next words.
"Psalm 91:11," Emily read out.
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways,"Spencer recited. "That's it—a guardian angel."
Emily's eyes widened as she stared at the revelation before her. The pieces of the puzzle clicked into place, revealing a connection that had eluded her grasp until now. It was as if a veil had been lifted, granting them to reshape the narrative of the case.
"Y/n isn’t the killer," she mumbled, turning her head towards him. "She's being protected."
He returned her gaze with the same disbelief.
"Someone else is doing it for her."

A week or so later, as the birds flew in a small group, the morning air wakes you up gently. The cold orange glow filling the walls told you the sun had gone up. You hadn't been in this bedroom for a while now, but even so, New York's feeling with the cars bustling in the background was still captured.
You blink the sleep away, the comforter around you keeping you warm while the chilly air still met your face. This was the best part of a morning. A feeling you almost can't describe.
The bed was only big enough to fit you, so it didn't feel like there was much of an empty space beside you, but it's not where the heartbreak would just end instantly.
You turn on your side, your hand clumsily grabbing your phone as you yawned. The cable charging the phone moved along with it, making sounds of it hitting the side of the bed.
All that was in your mind was to simply check the time or catch up on anything you missed whilst sleeping, but when your thumb clicks on the power button, the screen shows a whole load of missed calls along with messages-- both from yesterday, today, and all the days before.
Deflating a bit, you sigh, your hand holding the device falling down onto the bed as you tried to ignore the gnawing feeling in your heart.
You stare at the walls and ceiling for a moment, your hands gripping whatever they held before you turn back to your phone and let your finger impulsively tap on a button.
Clear Notifications
They disappear from the screen, leaving it empty and now only showing your lockscreen. But you don't linger any longer on your phone, putting it back down and facing the other way instead, where the windows sat with its edges illuminated.
Technically they aren't entirely gone. Though, at least they aren't sitting there screaming at you just as you look at your phone.
You wanted to pull the covers over yourself and bury your face into the pillow, the comforting warmth of the bed only luring you to, but, you started to see the light only growing brighter as the sun was going further up.
As you took a deep breath to prepare for the day ahead, you pull the covers off yourself, begrudgingly pushing yourself with your arms to sit up. You wouldn't be able to go back to sleep anyway.
And besides, if you did, you were sure Kate or Lucky would come in your room and wake you up so you weren't just stuck in your bed all day.
Slowly, you move to let your feet touch the floor before finally standing up, the bed creaking slightly. The small breeze in your movement and not having any more protection of warmth from the covers had a shiver going down your spine, but it soon faded away.
The trail you went to get to the bathroom was slow. Well, it was more just you lingering by leaning your back on the frame of the bed, pulling the curtains slightly to look out the window, stretching, or resting your elbows on the chestdrawer as you ran your hands down your face to gather yourself together.
The way the sunlight fades away due to a cloud blocking it and darkening the room, it only made you want to just further on give up on all the things your body needs.
But you shake your head, going into the bathroom as your thoughts dissolve only to one, and that is, going into the bathroom. You turn on the sink, splashing your face with cold water so you could wake up.
That definitely did something. You blink and reach over to grab a towel, wiping the water off your face. Yet still, a yawn makes it way out your mouth as you walk to the shower. You peel your clothes off to then step in, making sure the temperature was right.
The water ran down your skin and soothed your sore morning muscles. Minutes pass by later with warmth and you soon step out the bathroom with your hair dripping. The curtains at the windows swayed along with the wind from the ceiling fan, making the sunlight peeking through, dancing along the floor and the walls.
You open the closet doors, letting your fingers gently grab the clothes that were stored within it to slip on. Once you finish, you walk over to your bed to grab your bluetooth headphones, your thumb clicking on the power button.
When it didn't turn on, your shoulders fall down slightly. It had ran out of battery and you forgot to charge it. Reluctantly, you change the wire on your charger from your phone's and plug it to the headphones. Then, your eyes linger on your bedside table, seeing your wired earphones sitting atop it, one earbud dangling off the side and moving slightly.
Your hand picks it up and you grab out your phone, connecting it so you could play some music. The earbuds fitted your ears comfortably as you made your way to the bedroom door, opening it with a click.
Looking out, you find the living room and kitchen to be empty, but you do find a sleeping Lucky laying lazily at the couch. The refrigerator hummed quietly while your legs took you to it, the doors opening smoothly. Feeling fancy as the gentle rhythm of your song continued on, you grab some eggs, opting to cook it and eat it with some toast.
When the doors closed, you see a bright colored note stuck onto the fridge, written down by Kate it seems. It had 'take Lucky out on a walk!' upon it, and you tilted your head, humming. There was nothing much to really do today anyway, so maybe it would do some good to go out on a walk. Especially with Lucky.
You grab the pan and turn on the heat, warming it up before cracking open the eggs. The sizzles sound out through the apartment, and right as you were about to move and get a drink from the fridge, you feel a nose boop against your leg.
Looking down, your eyes land on the golden retriever that was sitting on the couch earlier, looking up at you happily, his tail wagging gently.
A soft giggle made its way out your mouth at the sight. "Morning, Lucky," Your hand gently goes through his fur, scratching behind his ear for a few seconds before you boop his nose.
He follows you as you go to the fridge, grabbing out the carton that held orange juice. You check on the eggs and make sure you don't accidentally get them burnt, finishing them up first by sliding them on a plate before pouring your drink into a glass.
The plate gently clinks as you set it down on the dining table, and you were about to sit down, but in the corner if your eye, you catch Kate's bow sitting right in front of the little training room she had.
Your eyes flicker from your meal and the bullseye, then you decide to walk over to the bow, picking it up. Lucky sits down near you, tilting his head in curiosity.
Carefully, you grab an arrow and place it in between the middle and the bowstring, then firmly grip everything and pulling the arrow back. Your eyes focus on the target and you aim, until finally, you release it, making it fly across the space with great speed.
The arrow lands right near the edge of the bullseye, but it was lodged in between the red line. Lucky barks, and you laugh, the anticipation of drawing an arrow back then finding out where it hits doesn't fail in giving a little serotonin. At least, when you're just having fun.
Wanting to do at least one more, you grab another arrow, placing it in the same place and getting your stance kind of right, having learnt from Kate...once.
Out of your vision, in the meanwhile, Kate had woken up, her bedroom door quietly opening and closing as she went out. Kate's eyes travel to your bedroom door, tilting her head to peek into your room. When she found the bed to be empty, she looks around the room to see you standing at the archery area.
She smiles slightly and speaks up, walking towards you, "You know, we should--" she cuts herself off when you quickly turn on your feet, your body following the movement as you unexpectedly heard her and get jumped.
"Whoa there!" She splutters out, instantly putting her hands up with a nervous chuckle as she saw the arrow being pointed at her, already drawn back.
Your eyes widen when you see Kate with her own wide blue eyes staring back at you. "Oh--" You quickly loosen your grip on the arrow, and a small smile comes up on her face, although, you can see a hint of fear.
"Okay, let's not kill anyone here." She says quickly and softly, then takes a few steps forward, lowering the bow you held.
"Sorry." You said sheepishly with a small chuckle, letting go of the bow and arrow as she ends up gently taking it from you with care, storing it back in its original place.
"It's okay, its not all the time I accidentally sneak up on someone and get...an arrow pointed in my face." She waves her hand off, then feel Lucky licking her skin, to which she pets his head and then kneel down slightly to run both her hands through his fur, his saliva going on her cheek slightly.
"I didn't mean to, you came out of nowhere!" You utter out, your face apologetic as you watch her stand back up properly, laughing slightly in her walk to the kitchen, her eyes lingering on your breakfast that was still warm.
"Hey, at least you're not the first person thats done it." She shrugs, grabbing two slices of bread and placing them into the toaster.
"I'm not?" Your face instead contorts into a curious one while Kate leans back on the kitchen counters, shaking her head with a smile.
"Nope," she said simply, and you raise your eyebrows, a hum coming out of you, but don't push on more to it. You walk back over to the dining table to sit down and finally start on your breakfast.
"Since you want to shoot something thats not a target so early on, you wanna join me for archery class?" Kate casually says as she grabs the carton of orange juice you had left on the counter, pouring herself a glass to drink.
You thought about it for a moment, then thought of the people, then thought about possibly getting scolded by the teacher for getting a stance or shot wrong.
"No, no, it's okay." You shake your head, insistently waving your hand as a gesture to add to your expression, awfully too worried about doing anything new at the moment.
"I can actually get you in, you know." The toast jumps out brown, and Kate slides it out, making a quick sandwich for herself.
"I would really love to, but...maybe next time. I'll probably take Lucky on a walk for today." You turn her down as kindly as you could, giving her a tight lipped smile that she didn't mind.
Kate takes a bite into her sandwich with a crunch, then turns around to put the orange juice back, and finally sees the bright note she had left on the fridge the other day. "Ah...I forgot I put that up." She said quietly, her head moving in a gentle nod, returning the orange juice before closing the fridge and looking back at you.
"Well, if thats what you want." She shrugs lightly, making sure her phone was in her pocket and she had her keys as she walked to the front door.
"But call me if you're staying out after the sun goes down." She points her finger at you, standing by the door with her other hand on the handle, her face more serious.
You nod, a warmth filling you at how much she cared, although a thought did cross your mind that it was because you were bringing Lucky, but no. it wasn't just that. "I will," you say quietly, but she saw the mouth movement and her face softens.
"Okay, bye!" Kate said as she went out the door with a wave. Quickly, you mirror her hand movement, echoing her goodbye and adding in her name along with it, "Bye, Kate!"
You settle back down in your seat at the dining table again, the quietness of the apartment somehow only being louder than it should. What if, in honest truth, you shouldn't be here? Kate's just too nice.
A touch to your hand from Lucky's nose snapped you out, the dog noticing how you had stilled and spaced out suddenly. You turn to look at him, his smile seeming to be the most comforting on earth at the moment.
"It's just you and I, huh?" You whispered, barely even above the sound of a breath as your hands petted his head.
You then cup the sides of the pizza dog's head, looking into his almond eyes. He stared back at you, his face clueless and almost understanding at the same time.
A heavy sigh escapes your mouth, feeling the weight of your body growing rather than lessening. You were taking steps forward, but it wasn't easy to not stop or reverse here and now.
Your hands let go of Lucky and turn back to the toast and eggs, finishing off the last of it. There were few places you could bring the pizza dog to-- the dog park, a pizza place...Your eyes linger on the empty pizza box that was yet to be thrown out. He's definitely had some just a day or so ago. It's probably better off to not spoil him. The dog park it is, then.
Pushing off the table, you pick up your empty plate and glass, taking it to the sink. Having already showered, you decide to simply change your outfit into something more fitted for the outdoors.
Lucky was laid down, chewing on a pizza toy of his, the little thing in his mouth making very quiet squeaking sounds as you walk back into the living room.
When you grab the leash, he instantly sits up more properly, his eyes widening at the sight. You chuckle, making your way over to the dog.
He met you halfway already though, leaving his toy and looking up at you, the golden charm on his collar swinging from the movement. "You know it. We're going out, buddy," your hands work on putting the leash on the collar, making sure it was properly on there.
After that, you stood up and walked to the front door, Lucky following behind you. Of course, you check you've gotten everything before going out, the door creaking slightly.
You weren't outside quite yet, needing to go down the stairs. Once you were out, the streets were calmer than usual, but not peaceful. It held people on their phones looking all ready for business, taxis passing through, people with their children and all that.
Luckily, the path you were taking seemed to slowly turn emptier, you and Lucky walking in step with each other and weaving through obstacles. You still had your earphones on, playing music as you went.
The sun kissed your skin gently, but still the cold air of New York let off a comforting temperature, mixing in with the warmth.
You feel the pace of the golden retriever's steps beside you slow down, which had you curiously looking down for a moment, seeing how Lucky had his head and eyes locked on something.
You follow his gaze and see nothing that could interest him for a moment, until your eyes travel up and see a pizza logo, the giant sign obvious as it hanged from the front of the restaurant, and it seems you took too long to realize the path held a troublesome situation.
You feel the tug on your hand from Lucky pulling the leash, the start of a run to get to the pizza place as he went further out of sync with your walking.
"Lucky, wait!" You yelp, thankfully the streets being emp...well. You thought it was, until you bump into someone, making Lucky instantly stop and turn to look at you.
You regain your surroundings soon and blink, feeling the slightest pain on your chest and arm from the hit of someone else's body. "Sorry! He gets..." You quickly apologize, until trailing off when you see the person in front of you, their own eyes slightly wide from shock.
"Oh, you're..." you take a step back, quietly saying the words as you try to process if you got dizzy and were imagining things, or if your eyes were actually seeing a redhead in front of you. One particularly familiar.
"The one in the rain," she utters out quietly herself, her eyebrows furrowed as her brain probably tried to process it the same as yours were. The breeze of the cool wind ran through her hair, making her seem all the more graceful and taking both your words and breath away.
"Are you okay?" She asks, and you hear the bit of rasp in her voice as she checks you for any sign of visible pain, and you were only rubbing your forearm.
"Yeah- I...I should be asking you that, I'm sorry, I didn't accidentally hurt you or anything, right?" you ask, your own eyes darting on her while a nervous chuckle comes from your mouth, but she shakes her head gently.
"No. In fact, you seem like you got hit harder," she said gently, her face holding a look of concern. Lucky was standing by, watching and now curious about what was happening, but he was more impatient to go to the nearby pizza place.
"Good," You nod, the smallest warmth coming upon your face as you gave her a tight lipped smile. There was a beat of silence, but it wasn't long until she spoke up again.
"So, we both went to New York." She tilts her head, about to slip her hand into her pockets until she felt her hand getting sniffed, bumped by the nose and licked by the golden retriever that caused this situation to arise.
"Yeah, that's..." you trail off as you notice Lucky barely keeping his excitement as he introduced himself to this kind stranger you only briefly met from the airport. You try to get him to give the redhead space, your hands reaching to gently pull him back. "Lucky, calm down."
She chuckles softly, and even though the sound was just a breath, something about it made you question what was happening. Such as, reality, or dream, or movie. "It's alright." her hand reaches down and pets him lightly. "Is this your dog?" she asks, glancing up at you.
"No. No, he belongs to a friend of mine." You reply, watching how she and Lucky interacted, as if it was natural. He seemed radiant, but you couldn't tell if it was because of her kind presence or the way there was a fresh pizza brought out by a waiter, seen from the restaurant window.
"He's cute," she said simply, her hand still going through his soft fur, then landing on the charm on his collar. You presume she was reading his name for a moment, but you didn't mind.
"Yeah. He...gets excited when he sees anything with pizza because he loves eating it." You smile gently, shaking your head as your mind goes over the dog's antics, especially with him turning his head from you and the redhead.
"A dog that eats pizza? That's the first I've heard." She slides her hands smoothly into the pocket of her brown coat, her expression curious and intrigued.
"Yup. He's a special kind." Your head moves in a the gentle motion of a nod as you went to lightly pat his head, and he only derpily had his tongue out. You can see the green eyes of the redhead watching your movements.
The two of you were quiet for a moment once again, your heart beating faster than normal, for some odd reason. Perhaps both of you were questioning whether it was fate that had you two meeting once more, or a coincidence.
"...What do you say to grabbing coffee sometime?" she said suddenly, but her voice was calm. Your eyes widen for a moment in surprise, but you regain your composure after blinking once or twice.
"Well, it's only fair since you saved me from the rain." She raises her eyebrows at you, and you try your best to not focus on your ever growing heartrate, although there was a hint of a smile on her face.
"No, I'm kidding, I'd love to grab coffee with you." you shook your head, your playful side seeming to be coming out a little too much, but the corners of her lips raise up more properly anyway. You shared each other's contacts after a few seconds, having put it in your phones.
She checks her watch, glancing down the street in the direction she was going in, then looking back at you. "I have to do something, but just...contact me whenever," the words came out rushed, but yet gentle while you see her start to walk away.
"Okay...Uh, stay safe!" you say with a slightly louder volume so she could hear you better. But she only turns back around to take a look at you with a chuckle.
"You should be the one staying safe." She turns back to her own route, and the sentence made a small laugh come from you.
Feeling oddly more light and warm, you were about to continue walking, until you realize Lucky wasn't moving, then he gently, this time, walked forward to pull you to the pizza place. You held your ground though, determined to only go to the dog park.
"No, you already had pizza just a few days ago." At that, he surrenders and turns back around to walk with you, his ear raising up as he looked back at the restaurant, whimpering quietly.
"I'll get you treats and play fetch." Upon hearing his other favorite words, his disappointment seemed to fade away.
The walk didn't last much longer, and you soon arrive to the park, the space, once more, not being too crowded, but not empty either.
You roam the grassy area until you find a place where it was completely empty, a beautiful tree sitting with shade catching your eyes. A perfect spot to hang out at.
You went and sat down on the grass, your back against the tree as Lucky followed beside you. You smile slightly, your hand going in your bag to grab a small ball.
He perks up and prepares, watching as you raised it up then threw it. He jumps and bolts off to grab it, his speed making you chuckle in surprise.
Soon he quickly retrieved it, coming back to you with his fur moving all over the place and dropping the ball beside you.
"You wanna do it again?" you ask, and he only stared at you. You threw it again, trying to do it a little farther on. This keeps going with a few tricks here and there, rewarded with some treats you brought.
The both of you gets tired sometime later, and you were now completely laid down against the grass, Lucky having his head on your stomach with his paws curled up.
The breeze of the wind lightly brushes your face and goes through your hair as you stare up at the sky, watching the clouds move.
This felt all too familiar.
Every memory, everything, except in different places.
Your gentle breathing, and the weight of a head on your body.
Your hand reaches up into the sky, your fingers uncurling themselves as you felt the wind.
This wasn't even the same park.
Yet, it still flooded through you like you had just experienced the moment yesterday.
Lucky had his eyes closed as your hand dropped onto your chest and you look down, away from the sky as if to not think about it anymore.
The device in your pocket felt more obvious as the seconds went by, and you start to give in, grabbing your phone from your pocket.
You check it, and you see the high amount of numbers in the corner of the calls and messages icons, an obvious red background behind it. Deciding finally, you tap on the messages app.
The texts written and sent to you by the brunette was short. Sent in multiple messages that make up one or two sentences. The first one was a paragraph of an apology, and your eyes skim over it, your heart already aching.
Your thumb then hovers over the missed calls, a decision in your head...

end of a day | pwb
a/n: the people ask for wonbin and i provide.. this is basically just pure and never ending sickening fluff when he comes home from a schedule :D warnings: one instance of him calling the reader his gf. i didn't mean for this to happen but gets like 1% suggestive towards the end. literally nothing happens though just a little heated kissing hehet
you had woken up when wonbin did, your ears listening to him rustling around the room getting dressed. after a few minutes he came to your side of the bed, stroking your hair and moving it out of your face before leaning down to kiss your forehead. your eyes fluttered open at this and he looked back with a surprised expression,
"did i wake you up? I'm sorry baby. try to go back to sleep, I'll be back later." he petted your hair once more. before he could back away you reached out to grab his wrist.
"you're not leaving without giving me a goodbye kiss are you?" you said with a pout.
smiling, he leans back down while you strain your neck upwards to meet his mouth.
"i almost didn't want to because then i wouldn't be able to stop" he mumbled against your lips. leaving one more peck he turned to actually leave and chuckled at your whine. "i know baby, i don't want to leave either but i'll try to be back before you know it. maybe you can sleep for the next 14 hours."
"I can sure try." you grumble back. "but hey, good luck today, work hard, i love you."
as he shut the door he turned to peek his head out. "I love you more." he said with a bashful smile before shutting it fully.
looking at the clock it read 6:34 am. yeah, you were definitely going back to sleep.
you woke up a few hours later and decided you had nothing to do but keep up with business since it was your day off. wonbin pretty much never had a day off so when you weren't working, your days were often spent like this; just filling the time until he came back.
it wasn't like you didn't have a life, you had friends of course but your schedules didn't always match up- like today. and so, you were alone. it wasn't bad to be fair, you caught up on emails, cleaned the apartment (mostly), called your mom, yearned for your boyfriend, all in all a productive day.
wonbin had texted you a few times throughout the day when he could.
[7:10] hi baby, wish i was with you
[9:13] getting ready to film this interview, hope i look pretty for you. i think you'll enjoy watching it when it comes out, the mc's are really funny
[13:19] finally done. heading back to the building to practice. love and miss you soooooo much,
it was strange, you had been dating for almost a year but you wondered when would your heart stop fluttering at everything he did. every text, call, every touch, every kiss made you fall in love with him even more and you hoped he felt the same. 
it was getting close to 8pm which seemed like a good time to start dinner. you didn’t cook every night but you knew wonbin liked it when you did. he always worked so hard, it’s the least you could do. you decide on something  simple for tonight, soup and rice and some sides his mom had sent you.
you snapped a quick picture and sent it to him so he knew he had a meal waiting for him at home. 
perfect timing :) we’re about to wrap up. 
can’t wait to see you 
just as you were finishing plating everything for the two of you, you heard a key jangling the door knob, bringing a small smile to your face. you could hear him taking his shoes off and shuffling out of the walkway.
“where is my baby?” he called out.
“in the dining room!” you reply. he makes his way to you as you turn around meeting him halfway for an embrace. ”sorry, i’m sweaty..” he said sheepishly. after you patted his back to assure him it was fine, he held you to him and kissed your hair then pulled away to hold your face and kiss your nose then your lips more times than you could count. between kisses you tried to ask him if he wasn’t hungry, eventually he let go, ��yeah actually. it smells so good, i’m starving.” he let you sit first, noticing your bowls were seated next to each other’s , he slyly scooted his chair closer to yours. after a few moments of silence with both of your mouths full, he turned to you. 
“how was your day? what did you get up to?” he said as he reached over to tuck your hair behind your ear. 
blushing, you reply, “well, mostly just waited for you to get back… but i did get some work done.” 
he frowned at this, “i don’t know if i can ever leave again. i missed you so much too.” he softly pinched your cheek and went back to eating. “this is delicious by the way, thank you so much. the guys went to  get food but i wanted to come home as soon as possible. they teased me a lot but it’s ok… i’d take anything for you.” he said the last part so quietly you almost missed it- luckily you didn’t. without making a big deal out of it you softly stroked his back and then his hair (which really was sweaty). 
“i’ll clean this up, you go get in the shower and relax.” you suggested
“can’t you come with me?” he asked with pleading eyes. 
“unfortunately, i already took a shower. but when i’m done with the dishes i’ll come in the bathroom ok?”
he looked back down at his soup and pursed his lips, clearly disappointed. you couldn’t help but laugh at his state. mirroring his earlier action you stroked his hair and tucked the strands that were falling into his eyes behind his ear. “tomorrow we can take a bath and i’ll use that bubble soap you like, does that sound good?”
he had to smile at this. “that sounds good, but i’m holding you to it.”
“i promise. finish your food so you can wash the day away.” 
he obeyed and you both finished your dinner quickly in a comfortable silence. 
he offered to help you with the dishes, but you shooed him away so he could get ready for bed sooner. it didn’t take you long anyway and you made it in time to get some sleeping clothes and a towel to meet him in the bathroom where you heard him singing. 
“what song is that?” you asked him casually, but then heard a bottle of something fall with a loud crash.
“oh my god y/n you scared me!! you move like a ghost, i didn’t even hear you come in!”
“oh my bad!” you said between laughs, you almost felt bad but it was also a little funny.
“it’s our new song though. don’t tell anyone.” he said as he turned the water off
before he got out, you softly told him “of course i won’t, but here, i brought you a towel and some clothes.” you handed him the towel while he was still in the shower and heard him give a small chuckle.
“babe, you’ve seen everything already, don’t act shy now.”
scoffing, you replied, “i was just trying to give you some privacy, sue me!”
he came out with the towel wrapped around his waist and gave you that smile you loved so much, the one that made you feel like your veins were disintegrating. he must’ve noticed your wide eyes that were trying to avoid the extensive amount of his bare skin showing because he laughed again and pulled you in for a kiss. you made a small noise of protest .
“wonbin! you’re all wet!” 
“oh, i didn’t notice” 
“move, we need to brush our teeth.” you said, still avoiding his half naked self.
you both moved to get your toothbrushes, but he took this opportunity of your proximity to slide a hand around your waist and kiss your temple. while you wanted to melt away , you pretended to be annoyed still, not saying anything. he kept a knowing smile on his lips the whole duration of your teeth brushing date in which he also linked your arms causing a very clunky experience, but you let it slide because you really were so weak for him. 
once you finished, you escaped his hold and walked to your bedroom so he could get dressed (he suggested you stay for that too, to which you declined with burning cheeks)
you only had to scroll laying on your bed for about two minutes before wonbin walked through the doorway, still with that grin on his face.
“what is so funny mister?” you asked with tight lips.
he came over to your side of the bed and sat down, carefully avoiding your feet but rested his hand on your calf, lightly squeezing the skin there. “oh nothing. you’re just really cute when you’re flustered. i like being the only one to make you blush. also, since i’m dry now, can i get some love?” he looked like a kicked puppy to where all your fake annoyance dissolved and you sat up to kiss his cheek. he turned his face to yours and whispered “you know that’s not enough.” 
pushing you down he caged you in between his arms, laying the rest of his body weight on you as he lightly rubbed his nose against yours before pressing his lips to you. 
he kissed you until you were breathless, your lips wet and puffy from where he had bitten them. as he leaned in again you put a hand on his chest. 
“wonbin…” you warned.
“don’t worry i’m not trying anything, i’ve just wanted to kiss you all day.”
“wow, this must be your dream come true then.” “this might be the best day of my life. maybe second to when you said you’d be my girlfriend.” he said with another kiss. 
“i would tease you if i wasn’t so in love with you” you retort as he pulls away, now leaving you wanting more. he noticed your pout and smirked “i’m just moving to where i’m not suffocating you.”
“i liked it though?” you admitted. 
“oh?” he replied as he crawled over you to his side, laying close to you with his head propped on one hand. He stroked your cheek with the other hand, brushing your hair away from your face. 
you were caught in the way he looked at you, always with so much adoration. it was obvious to anyone that saw you together (which they often told you) how intense your love seemed just in the way you looked at each other. holding his hand to your cheek he took it as his cue to lean down once more to your face. kissing your lips, your cheek, your forehead, anywhere he could reach. you wrapped your arms around his neck as he pressed his lips to your throat before going back to your lips and finally pulling away with a kiss to your cheek. rolling  just a bit over to where he was almost entirely on top of you, he mumbled into your chest “did i mention i missed you?”
heart swelling you replied, “you may have. are you so tired my baby?” he can only nod and deeply sigh. you almost coo at this and brought your hand to his hair, running the strands through your fingers and lightly massaging his scalp.
“don’t do that.” he grumbles, shocking you.
 “why not ??”
“because i will fall asleep and i want to stay awake and talk to you.”
“oh, well it's late bin, we should sleep anyway hm?”
“don’t wanna”
you resumed playing with his hair anyway and humming a ballad.
“you’re so mean…” he said sleepily, you could hear the tiredness taking over.

I find it impossible for Optimus to be more than a million years old in this canon. In the least, he's older than 1000 years and since we have mfs that are canonically over 70 million years old(fagatron iykyk) compared to that, he feels like a dude in his early-to-mid-30's being the group parent.

Plot: After a long night, Daryl comes home and you decide he needs a little break.
Warnings: It's not smut but its implied? It's nothing explicit ig.
A/N: This is my second fic and I can not believe I'm actually doing this lmao, this is one of my favorite scenes on the show and I've always thought Daryl deserved someone who take care of him after a rough night. Thanks to my friend @weretheones for all the amazing help, I seriously couldnt have done it without u, muah!

The dawn was beginning to come out when the gates of Alexandria came to Daryl’s sight, it had been a long night for him, where everything that could go wrong actually did.
The walk home was silent between the archer and his best friend, the only sound intercepting the thick tension were the grunts of the hooded whisperer trying to set himself free. This would end up really bad, he could feel it in his gut. 
Daryl’s mind was spinning around what happened, trying to understand Carol’s actions. He knew she wasn't the same after what Alpha did, but after all these months he could only hope her grief was at least healing — he was clearly wrong. There was something he couldn't identify in her eyes, more than anger or revenge, something that scared him.
Gabriel saw them coming inside and hurried once he spotted their hostage.
“You put us all at risk!” he barked at Carol.
“We need to find that horde before it shows up in our gates” Carol replied.
“So you decided for all of us? Knowing what it could mean?” Gabriel angrily answered back.
“Don’t matter anymore, we still gotta fin’ them” Daryl's voice came from behind the livid father — “We will figure it out'” he stated, ending the discussion as he started to walk home, to his home. To you. 
He opened the door slowly trying to be quiet, you were probably still asleep and he would be damned if he perturbed your very needed rest.  Daryl placed his crossbow down on the table you reserved for it.  “Come on baby!” you pouted, “This way you can always know where you left it and it’s easy for you to grab it on a run! It’s a win - win, don't you think?”  Your eyes were so wide with excitement he couldn't say anything else but to peck your lips while nodding “Alrigh’” he simply answered. 
The memory made him smile, then, it hit him. That was the reason why Carol’s intentions to stir things up scared the hell out of him: he was finally happy.  After so many years of walking on eggshells just surviving, being with you gave his life meaning, and the idea of you being in danger for her impulsive actions unsettled him, he couldn’t lose you.   Daryl sighed as he began to take his vest off, a fresh pair of clothes should be enough to remove the smell and fatigue from the night before.
“Hey, you’re back” your voice broke his thoughts. Daryl turned to you and his heart jumped.  You were together for more than 6 months now and he still couldn't believe he was lucky enough to behold you like this.
“Msorry, didn't mean to wake ya, go back to sleep angel” he softly said.
You frowned, something was wrong. “What happened? Is everything ok?” you replied with a sweet tone in your voice. 
He bit his bottom lip, staring at the window. “It’s Carol, she took one of em’ here, I, huh, helped her '' he wasn't certain why, but he felt ashamed as he spoke —“We will try to make him talk”.
Your mouth formed an “O” picking up on what troubled the archer. Alpha could take retaliation if she knew what happened. Shit.
“Come on baby” you softly said, raising your hand so he could take it. “We need to get you clean first”.
You led him to the bathroom. Unsure of what was happening he followed every step you made with the feeling of thousands butterflies in his stomach. The way his old shirt embraced every one of your curves barely covering your bottom made his heart race. He never thought getting a shower could be this exciting.  Sitting on the sink, Daryl watched you unbutton his shirt very slowly, pecking at the skin revealed with every button that was undone. Soon, his broad chest was displayed and you smirked with satisfaction. Bringing your hands to his neck, you brushed his lips just a little and whispered “Let me take care of you, please”. 
Daryl trembled, he didn't feel tired anymore. 
Once you were satisfied with the temperature of the water, you took your robe off getting into the shower. Daryl couldn't help but stare as he got rid of his boxers, the sight of your naked body wasn't something he would ever get used to. 
The hot water splashed against his ached body, making him gasp with delight. You chuckled at the action “I thought you didn't like showers, huh?” you teased him.  “I like them with ya” Daryl sheepishly answered.
Your eyes traced his whole body searching for injuries that might need more than just some cleaning, to your relief, there wasn't anything new. Taking a sponge, you delicately started to wash his chest, paying extra attention to every one of his scars, caressing them gently, wishing they could disappear along with his pain, just like the soap with the water. Daryl’s eyes were glued to the action, feeling a warm sensation spreading over his broad frame, god, he loved you. 
“I know you’re worried” he looked into your eyes, listening to your words closely, “But I need you to understand, whatever happens, I’m here for you, we can always fight together”  You placed his hand on your left breast, “Do you feel it? My heart beating?” Daryl nodded, lost in the sensation of your soft skin against his rough hand. 
You kissed him deeply, wanting to make him forget about the troubles of the world he always felt the need to carry on his shoulders. “I love you Daryl” you whispered between kisses. Daryl felt like crying, he wasn't used to this kind of burning, unconditional love. “I love ya too” Daryl managed to answer, unable to concentrate in anything else but the feeling of your lips on his, you were the only thing in his mind. Every fiber of his body was consumed in you. You, You, You. 
Soon, the steam from the hot water wasn't the reason the bathroom was boiling, it was the way you both got lost into each other until you became one.
Daryl came out of the house with his hair dripping, Gabriel approached him as soon as he spotted him. 
“Did you take a shower?!” he said with a hint of surprise in his voice “I thought we were going to check on that whisperer guy?”
Daryl remained stoic to the father's questions but he felt himself blushing, just when he was about to brush him off Aaron caught up with them.
“Hey! We were looking for you!” he exclaimed, pointing at Daryl — “You showered?!” Aaron’s eyes widened with disbelief and Daryl left a frustrated grunt.
 “Can't take a damn shower or what?” Daryl growled as he walked away from the two men with a hidden grin on his face.

Since you and Joel started dating, you had practically lived in Joel’s house. All of your stuff was slowly moved to his house. You visited your house just to take some things and cleaned up once in a while.
It was another morning and you woke up earlier to make breakfast. You slowly got out of bed not to wake Joel up. Before you went to the kitchen downstairs, you checked up on Sarah in her bedroom. 
“Morning sweetie. You’re already awake, huh?” You opened the door and saw her eyes were already open.
“Why don’t you wait with daddy while I make breakfast?” You lifted her and kissed her cheek.
You carried Sarah back to your bedroom and laid her next to Joel. Then you went to the kitchen and started making breakfast. You cooked some eggs, bacon, and toast. You didn’t forget to make Joel some coffee too. After you were done with everything, you walked upstairs to wake Joel up. 
You chuckled softly when you saw Sarah sucking Joel’s nose. Apparently, Sarah thought her dad’s nose was a pacifier. You wished you could keep this image forever. You put your hand on your chest as you were touched by what you were seeing. You felt warmth watching Joel and her daughter sleeping so soundly with his big arms surrounding her little body. (I saw a video about this on tiktok and found it so cute then I thought it would be so cute if it was Pedro especially with his beautiful nose😭)
“Baby..” You chuckled as you gently shook Joel a few times.
“Huh?” Joel opened his eyes and pulled back. 
Joel rubbed his wet nose and looked at his hand. He was confused. You laughed. 
“Sarah just sucked on your nose.” You chuckled.
“Oh..” He just understood the reason why his nose was wet. 
“She thought my nose was a pacifier?” He wiped his nose with the blanket. 
“I think so.” You chuckled again.
“Hey, babygirl. It’s daddy’s nose, not a pacifier.” He raised his daughter and blew on her tummy.
Sarah woke up again and giggled. She patted her dads cheeks with both of her hands while Joel bounced her. Joel chuckled at his daughter. He could never get angry at his daughter. He loved her too much.
“Okay babygirl, I know you’re hungry so time for breakfast.” You lifted Sarah and carried her downstairs.
Joel followed you downstairs as he took his shirt and wore it. You put Sarah to sit on the baby chair then you grabbed a glass of orange juice and passed it to Joel.

“Where’s my coffee?” He refused to take the glass from your hand.
“Drink this then you get to drink your coffee.” You sighed as you shoved the glass to him.
“I don’t like it.” He insisted.
“Oh..my baby doesn't like orange juice huh. Here, let mama feed you.” You cooed at him as you tried to feed him.
He swerved and held the glass from your hand. 
“Fine.” He rolled his eyes.
“Don’t be such a baby. You need vitamin C.” You patted his shoulder and walked to the dining table.
Joel stared at you while he gulped the whole glass. You smirked looking at him.
“There you go, mama’s boy.” You pinched his cheek and cooed at him.
“You do that again and you’re gonna be responsible for me bein’ late to work.” He raised his eyebrows while munching on his breakfast.
“How am I gonna be responsible?” You teased him.
“You know what I mean.” His lustful eyes moved up and down scanning your body.
“Oh my God Joel!” You gasped. 
“Not in front of a baby!” Your hand moved to cover baby Sarah’s ear as she giggled.
“Your fault.” He pointed at you with his fork.
Of course you wanted morning sex with him, but you didn’t want to be the reason why he was late to work. So you had to act like you weren’t aroused by him acting like a little kid hating on orange juice with that morning face, morning voice and morning hair. 
“Stop it. Just eat your breakfast.” You chuckled and shook your head.
Joel finished his breakfast and got ready to work. Since you moved in, the two of you always kissed each other goodbye before leaving to work. 
“Got your keys?” You reminded him. 
“Yep.” He showed the car keys to you. 
“Okay, daddy’s going to work babygirl.” Joel kissed his daughter’s forehead on your arms and went out.
“Bye baby.” He just put his hand on your shoulder and left.
You froze as he shut the door close. He had never forgotten to kiss you before he left for work but why did it happen today? Not after all the teasing when you had breakfast with him.
“What the fuck?” You flinched at yourself.
“I’m sorry, sweetie. I just didn’t expect daddy to forget to kiss me.” You caressed Sarah’s head.
You sighed in disappointment as you turned your heel and walked to the living room. You put Sarah to play on the carpet and suddenly the door opened. It was Joel.
“What? Did you forget something?” You frowned and rolled your eyes.
“Yeah, I forgot somethin’.” He smirked as he walked closer to you.
“Just get your stuff and go. You’re gonna be late.” You got on your knees and passed Sarah her toy.
“I forgot this.” Joel crouched beside you and gave you a kiss.
You pouted as he cupped your cheeks. 
“I got you, didn’t I?” Joel sneaked his head inside and smirked.
“Fuck you.” You cursed at him.
“I love you baby. There’s no way I forgot to kiss you. I was just teasin’ you cause you forced me to drink orange juice.” He chuckled as he leaned in and dragged your head to kiss you. 
“Don’t do that again.” You hit his chest.
“Okay, I’ll see you tonight baby.” He gave you one more peck.
“Have a great day at work, mama’s boy.” You gave him another peck and smirked.
Joel chuckled as he dragged your head close, squeezed your face until you pout, then he gave you many pecks. You chuckled and caressed his head before he left to work.  
“Go!” You shooed him.
You went on with your day as usual and went home earlier to prepare dinner before Joel arrived home. You were in the kitchen when you heard something drop. Your heart beat faster and you rushed to the living room to check on Sarah.
“Oh my God!” You covered your mouth as you gasped.
To your surprise, Sarah just stood up and walked baby steps on her own. Every day, Joel would let Sarah hold on to his fingers and helped her learn to walk. You and Joel had taught her and finally she could walk on her own. You were so proud and you couldn’t wait for Joel to see his daughter walking on her own.

You kept thinking how to surprise Joel in a special way. Suddenly, you had the idea to buy some balloons. So you decided to go on a short trip to the nearest store to buy some balloons. When you heard Joel’s car parked in the driveway, you ran to get the balloons and tie them to Sarah’s wrist. You put Sarah near the door so she would be the first thing he saw when he opened the door. You stood behind Sarah just in case she fell. You jumped excitedly when you heard Joel’s keys jingled.
“I’m ho-” Joel didn’t finish as his jaw dropped when he saw his daughter walking towards him. 
“Babygirl!” He crouched right away and took his daughter to his arms.
“She’s a big girl!” Joel teared up.
“I know!” You hugged Joel and sandwiched Sarah. 
“Daddy’s proud of you.” Joel kissed his daughter’s forehead.
Then Joel kissed you and the three of you had a family hug for a moment. Enjoying the present and making sure this precious moment was kept inside your memories forever.

Y/N: 5 years old Wanda: mommy Natasha: mama Story: Wanda and Natasha spend time with their adopted daughter… ——————————————————
NO ONE'S POV "Wanda! Natty! Wake up! There's snow outside!" Y/N shouts happily, bursting into her new parents' room, crawling on the bed and jumping on both of them.
Wanda and Natasha have finally made another step in their relationship and adopted a little girl they saved on one mission a few months ago. Y/N's been super excited about living with the two Avengers on the compound and especially about having them as parents.
"Y/N/N, it's 6 in the morning" Wanda rasps out, but that doesn't seem to satisfy that little demon.
"But there's snow! We have to go outside and build a snowman!" Y/N explains, a little too loudly for both women's liking.
"Honey, we can go out and build a snowman, but later. It's still early" Natasha tells her little girl, pulling her to lay down and under the covers. "Let's sleep for a bit more and then we can go and build a snowman, hm?" Natasha suggests, pressing a kiss to Y/N's head and wrapping an arm around the little girl tightly.
"But I'm not tired" Y/N pouts, looking at Natasha which makes the redhead chuckle.
"How about cuddles, sweetheart?" Wanda smiles, knowing Y/N can't resist cuddles. The little girl nods, so Wanda cuddles up to the pair, hoping Y/N would fall asleep for a bit more.
Wanda loses hope after 10 minutes as Y/N hasn't closed her mouth and keeps mumbling about what will she do in the snow and how will the snowman look like.
"You won't go to sleep, will you?" Wanda chuckles, giving Y/N's tummy a tickle which makes the tiny girl laugh.
"No" Y/N giggles, shaking her head.
"Alright, let's go for breakfast then, you cheeky little monkey" Wanda sighs with a smile, standing up and sitting Y/N on her hip.
"Come, Natty" Y/N smiles cutely, holding her hand out for Natasha who sighs with a smile and follows the pair.

After breakfast and after keeping Y/N occupied with toys for a few more hours, the little family is finally getting ready to go outside.
"We have to build the biggest snowman!" Y/N says excitedly, lifting her arms in the air while Wanda is trying to get her dressed.
"Honey, we will build the biggest snowman, but you have to stop moving around otherwise I won't get you dressed and we won't be able to go outside" Wanda says with a fake gasp, making Y/N gasp too.
"No, Wanda. We have to build the snowman" Y/N gasps once again. "If Y/N/N stops moving around then I will dress her and we'll build the snowman, baby" Wanda says with a chuckle.
The witch finally manages to get Y/N ready, so after putting on her own jacket, the two finally go outside and start working on the snowman immediately, Natasha soon joining them.
"Mama, did you bring a carrot for the snowman's nose?" Y/N asks sweetly, hugging Natasha's legs and looking up at her.
Wanda and Natasha share a look, a smile forming on both women's faces as Y/N hasn't used this name yet.
"Of course I did, детка" Natasha smiles warmly, showing Y/N the carrot she's brought and bending down to kiss her daughter's forehead. (baby)
"Can I give him the nose?! Please! Please!" Y/N asks happily, jumping up and down while looking at both of her mothers.
"Honey, he's not even finished yet. We'll finish him first and then you can give him the nose" Wanda chuckles, also bending down and kissing her daughter's forehead.
"Thank you, mommy!" Y/N grins, making both women smile warmly again.
When the three finally finish building the snowman, they all just stand there, looking at him proudly while Y/N's comfortably sitting on Natasha's hip.
"Do you like him?" Natasha asks with a squeal, giving her daughter a huge smile.
"Mhm" Y/N nods her head with a huge smile. "It's Mister Snowman!!" The tiny girl grins, putting her arms in the air. "Down! Mama! Down! Down! Wanna hug mister snowman!" She says, wiggling out of Natasha's arms which makes the redhead laugh.
Natasha stands Y/N on the ground and the tiny girl immediately hugs the snowman, mumbling something to him which makes both Natasha and Wanda smile widely.
"I'm so glad we adopted her, Nat" Wanda smiles, watching her baby running around and play in the snow.
"Me too, Wands, me too" Natasha smiles and turns her head to kiss her wife.
Before Natasha can kiss her wife though, Y/N throws a snowball at them, hitting Wanda into her leg.
"You cheeky little monkey! Wait until I catch you!" Wanda starts running after her daughter who's laughing like crazy by now and running away from her mommy.
"Mama" Y/N laughs out, hiding behind Natasha's legs.
"You think mama will help you? The tickle monster is coming for you" Wanda teases.
Y/N laughs, quickly forming another snow ball and throwing it at Wanda, only to hit Natasha's legs this time.
"You little demon, now you have two tickle monsters coming after you" Natasha teases, also running after her daughter.
It doesn't take long until they catch their baby girl, trying to tickle her through the layers of clothing and making Y/N laugh uncontrollably.
"Stop! Stop! Please!" Y/N laughs out, trying to push the two pairs of hands away.
"What do you think, Nat? Should we stop?" Wanda asks teasingly.
"I think it could be enough" Natasha says, so both stop the tickle attack. "Up we go" The redhead groans playfully, lifting Y/N up from the ground and sitting her back on her hip. "You are so cold, cheeky. I think we should go inside and make some tea, what do you two think?"

"All cozy?" Natasha asks with a smile after wrapping her daughter into a blanket.
"Mhm" Y/N nods, more interested in her cartoon at the moment.
Natasha smiles, kisses her daughter's forehead and makes her way over to the kitchen to help her wife prepare lunch for the three of them.
"We're here!" Yelena announces, making both women furrow their brows in confusion.
"Oh no" Natasha sighs as she wasn't expecting her family over today at all.
"What's 'oh no', mama?" The curious little girl calls from the couch.
"Nothing, sweetheart. Watch your cartoon" Natasha shoots her daughter a smile.
"Hey, guys" Yelena smiles, stepping into the kitchen along with her and Nat's parents, and immediately pulls her sister in for a hug.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" Natasha asks, furrowing her brows in confusion and accepting a hug from her parents.
It's not like Natasha wouldn't like to see her parents and sister, but she hasn't told them about Y/N yet. Her and Wanda wanted Y/N to get used to her new life before telling the family they have a child.
"Oh wow. A family meeting?" Pietro asks, stepping into the kitchen after his long mission.
"Pietro" Wanda smiles, pulling her brother in for a hug, happy that he's okay and safe home now.
"Mommy?!" Y/N gasps, turning around to look at her moms. "Can you get Mister Snowman to talk with your magic?!" The tiny girl asks excitedly, making all the adults laugh.
"Hey there, squish!" Pietro smiles widely, giving Y/N a wave. The two got along really well before Pietro left.
"Can you come here for a second, bubs?" Wanda asks, a smile forming on her face when Y/N jumps off of the couch and makes her way to her with her arms up, so Wanda sits the little monkey on her hip. "This is our daughter Y/N. Y/N/N, honey, this is our family. That is your grandmother Melina, grandfather Alexei and aunt Yelena. And uncle Pietro, but you know him already"
"I'm so happy to meet you, little one" Yelena smiles widely. "You're such a secret keeper, Natasha!"
"Oh my god! She's so cute!" Alexei squeals on which Y/N immediately hides her head into Wanda's neck.
"Alexei! Look what you've done, you scared the poor child" Melina says. "Hi, sweetheart. There's no need to be scared, grandpa Alexei is just a little silly" She says, tickling Y/N's back which makes the tiny girl giggle.
"Mama! Mommy!" Y/N suddenly gasps when she notices her snowman fell on the ground.
"What?" Natasha gasps back playfully.
"Mama, Mister Snowman!" Y/N points on the window on which everyone looks there.
"Oh no, I guess we gotta build him again then" Natasha says, pressing a kiss to her daughter's forehead.

Y/N being the cheeky little monkey she is, she got her moms into agreeing that her, Pietro and Alexei could go outside and build the snowman once again.
The group gets into building Mister Snowman again immediately while all the women are watching them from inside and talking.
"No! Uncle Pietro, no!" Y/N pouts after Pietro tried to be funny and pretended to eat the carrot that was supposed to be the snowman's nose. "That's Mister Snowman's nose!"
"I was just kidding, squish. You're no fun like your mom" Pietro teases, giving Y/N the carrot which makes the tiny girl smile.
"I want to give him the nose please!" Y/N jumps in front of the snowman.
"Alright, tiny one" Alexei says, lifting his granddaughter up, so she could give the snowman his nose.
The snowman is all repaired now and Y/N gets this idea to throw a snowball at her uncle for making fun of her earlier, so she does it on which Pietro raises an eyebrow.
"You want a fight?" He teases, forming a snowball too and throwing it on the little girl.
Y/N pouts, repeating her actions, but Pietro is quicker and throws another snowball on the tiny girl without Y/N's snowballs hitting him. "You are cheating!" The little girl pouts when she sees Pietro using his powers.
"Guys! Come inside! Y/N must be frozen!" Wanda calls on which Y/N smiles and runs to her mommy, Pietro using his powers to be there first.
"First!" He teases like a child, making Y/N pout again.
"You are cheating, uncle Pietro" Y/N states, the cute pout still on her face. "Mommy, tell him to stop cheating"
"Yeah, Pietro, stop cheating otherwise you won't get the really good hot chocolate I made" Wanda teases on which Pietro rolls his eyes and Y/N giggles. "You are so cold, little monkey. Let's get you changed into something warm and cozy"
"Can I sleep with you and mama today?" Y/N asks sweetly, twirling her finger around a strand of Wanda's hair while the witch is carrying her upstairs to change her.
"I think we could make an exception" Wanda smiles and kisses her daughter's forehead, receiving cheers from her little girl.

Y/N's all changed now, wearing her fluffy socks, sweatpants and warm hoodie, and Wanda also wrapped her in a blanket.
"Sure, my love. I'll be happy to be your pillow" Natasha chuckles when her daughter lays her entire body on hers, wrapping her strong arms around the small body.
"Were the boys nice outside, Y/N?" Melina teases.
"Mhm. But no uncle Pietro. He wanted to eat Mister Snowman's nose" Y/N says with a pout, making everyone around her chuckle.
"Well, but that wasn't very nice, was it?" Wanda asks on which Y/N shakes her head.
"He wouldn't smell anything if uncle Pietro ate his nose" Y/N reasons, receiving a kiss to the top of her head from Natasha. "I'm gonna sleep with you and mommy today, mama" Y/N informs on which Natasha raises an eyebrow.
"Is that so?"
"Mhm. Mommy said I can" Y/N explains.
"If mommy said so" Natasha smiles at her daughter before looking at her wife and giving her a smile. They will surely never be bored with this little girl.

Despite her lack of response, I immediately set to work, tidying the house so she wouldn't have to worry about it when she returned.
By 6:20, dinner was in progress—her favorite, a small effort to make our evening special. As it cooked, I chose a cute dress, styled my hair, and applied makeup. Nights like these were extremely rare lately, and Nat and I were feeling the strain so I might as well put details into the little things when I can.
She's always busy with work, I mean of course she is, she's an avenger. But when I go weeks at a time without seeing her it gets hard. It feels like half the time shes avoiding being around me. It feels like she often looks for extra tasks. It might all be in my head but I mean Hell I can't even remember the last time we ate and had a conversation together, so I want tonight to be perfect.
As the clock ticked past 7:20, dinner sat ready on the stove, the aroma of her favorite dish filling the air. I hesitated, torn between plating her food or waiting for her call. At 7:40, I finally dialed her number, but the call went unanswered, sending me straight to  voicemail. I decided to wait before serving the meal, hoping it wouldn't lose its warmth.
8:00 nothing, she hasn't called back or texted. But that's alright maybe she needed to get a few things done.
8:30 nothing. Maybe traffic?
9:00 nothing. Maybe there was an emergency
9:30 not a word. Something probably came up.
By 10:00 I gave up. I put away the left overs and cleaned up the kitchen. I put Natasha's plate in the fridge, turned off the music and blew out the candles.
In the bathroom, I unwound my efforts, removing my makeup and undoing my hair before stepping into the shower.
I went to sleep alone that night. Natasha finally came home just past 2 in the morning. Her footsteps were loud enough to wake me up. Though I heard her entrance, I chose not to acknowledge her. She joined me in bed, and when she realized I was awake she wrapped her arms around me and whispered apologies and showered kisses on my bare shoulder.
"I'm so sorry." She mumbled between kisses. She kissed from my cheek to my neck, then finally my collarbone. "Let me make it up to you gorgeous."
When she kissed my lips I could taste the whiskey on her.
I remained silent, unsure whether to accept her apologies or express the disappointment that lingered. Natasha's tender kisses continued, and her warmth beside me begged for acknowledgment.
I didn't say anything. "Please baby, let me make you feel good, let me make it better." She pleaded as she sucked marks into my neck. I was so overwhelmed with emotions and I was mad and disappointed but I couldn't convey any of my feelings. I couldn't speak so I just nodded my head as tears started to stream down my cheeks. I don't know why I was crying but I couldn't help it. Once the tears started they couldn't stop. Natasha got on top of me, straddling my hips as she kissed my neck. I just wrapped my arms around her and buried my hands in her hair as I cried.
"I promise to make it up to you." She whispered for the hundredth time as she kissed my bare skin. She took my hoodie off first then went lower, leaving her trail of marks as she went.
Moments later I was completely bare under her and had no control. I know if I told her to stop she would. I know that. But then what. We'd fight and she'd sleep in the guest room? I just want things to go back to the way they were.
With every thrust I just held onto her tighter and closed my eyes to stop the tears and try to enjoy the moment with her but there was no enjoyment to be found.
Just tell her to stop.
Tell her later.
Tell her you're tired.
I didn't say anything. I tried to react as much as I could when she wanted me too. Gasped when she went faster, moaned when she did something different, just keep her satisfied.
"God baby, you're so fucking perfect." She grunted.
Just nod.
"Such a good girl"

"I love your tight little pussy so much. I love you, so much detka"

She eventually got the release she was looking for and went to sleep not long after. But I couldn't. I stayed awake next to her and cried. I curled up in a ball with me knees tucked under my chin and cried. My whole body was shaking from my silent sobs. It wasn't that she touched me, it wasn't that she didn't show up for dinner, it wasn't that she didn't take care of me, it was the fact that things used to be different. It was the realization that I was losing her.
She used to get home from missions early to come home and cook with me, we'd dance in the kitchen together and we'd laugh until we couldn't breath and it physically hurt, we used to talk for hours on end, we used play games together and watch movies, we used to make love, and we used to read, and paint, play music, go on walks, we used to do everything together. Because we loved each other...
But now... I don't think she loves me anymore. She doesn't look at me the same. She used to look at me like I was the only girl in the world, but she doesn't have that same spark in her eyes anymore. She doesn't talk to me anymore, she doesn't watch movies with me, or go on walks. Let alone laugh or dance with me. I haven't heard her say she loves me before tonight in months. I think she's done with me...
When I was younger I remember thinking that I'd refuse to stay with someone who doesn't see me for all my worth. How naïve.

When the sun came up in the morning I was alone again. She left without a goodbye, without a kiss on top of my head, without a touch. without a simple acknowledgment.
When I went to the bathroom to shower I saw how red and puffy my eyes were from crying last night. Seeing myself like that confirmed my thoughts that Natasha was in fact done with me. No loving caring partner would let this happen. They wouldn't let their person cry themselves to sleep after an intimate moment. They wouldn't miss a dinner after saying they would be there and they wouldn't use sex as a way to make it up to them. That's not how a healthy functioning relationship works. It's just not.
That afternoon so many thoughts ran through my head, because even though she didn't love me anymore, I loved her with all I had. And if she didn't want me to leave then I wouldn't, I'd stay and I'd give her my entire being until I had nothing left to give and even then I'd stay. I'd stay because I'd have no where else to go, I'd have no one. I'd have nothing. And Id always love her.
I texted her that afternoon asking to talk when she got home.

I Hope you are having a good day. I want to talk to you when you get home if that's okay. Stay safe.
I love you.
She didn't respond, she never does.
As the hours passed by I distracted myself with cleaning, cooking, painting and reading, and with each activity my concern only grew. the sun set and the only thing that brought light to the apartment was the television.
when 10 o'clock passed by I started crying again. I wondered if tonight would be another night on my own or if she'd decide to come home at some point. My heart felt heavy with anxiety and mourning. I wish I had never made the realization that she was moving on from me, I wish that I could have stayed in my denial.
The more minutes that went by the more tears I shed. I tried calling her and I tried texting her, but every message went unanswered. I tried to check her location but she turned it off. I finally had enough and decided to text the one person who always knew of Natasha's whereabouts.

Hey Barton. It's Y/n, I don't know if you had my number saved. I was just texting to ask if Natasha was still at the compound?  Or if she was sent on a mission. She stopped sharing her location with me and won't respond to any of my text. I'm just starting to get worried so if you could just let me know that would be great.
It didn't take him long to respond.

Hey Y/n. Natasha went out with Maria and a few other agents. They said they were just going out for a quick drink. Is she not responding to your calls either?

She hasn't responded to anything, text or call. Thanks for letting me know.

Do you want me to try calling her? Try to knock some since into her?

As I sat on the sofa with tear stained cheeks I finally got a message from Natasha.

Are you serious?

I've been trying to call you and text you for the past four hours Natasha.

I'm sorry. I didn't see them.
Me
but when Barton is the one who's calling all the sudden you see it.
It took her a few minutes to respond to the message. The text bubbles kept disappearing and appearing again. But Finally she responds.
Natty❤️
I'm sorry. You're right, I should have answered you, I've just been busy. Is everything okay?
Me
Im just hurting. I really want you to come home to me Natasha.
Please just come home.
When the text bubbles disappeared my heart sank even more. I couldn't help the sobs and whimpers as I curled up on the couch.

Natasha's point of view
The bar was dimly lit, filled with the low hum of conversations and the clinking of glasses. I sat at a corner table, nursing a drink that I ordered half an hour ago. I stare off as I half-listen to Maria rant about her latest assignment from Fury. But truth be told, my mind was elsewhere,  the guilt sitting in.
I glance down at my phone for every new string of unanswered messages and missed calls from Y/n. I continue to Ignore them as they keep poring in. I take another sip of the aged whiskey, as I try to participate in the conversation and ignore my buzzing phone. Finally, well past midnight, I decide to head home, my mind clouded with the alcohol's numbness. The walk through the Crisp winter air helped me sober up and cleared my head as I walked.
Finally getting to our townhouse I unlock and open the door. As I climb the stairs to the main floor I notice the lights are off so I simply assume she has gone off to bed. Perfect, that means no fighting. But when I reach the final step leading to the living room I find Y/n on the couch, tear-stained and defeated, wrapped up in a blanket, half asleep. I walk towards her, every step echoing in the stillness of our home.
I wordlessly scoop her up into my arms, I can see the hurt on her face as I hold her against me. She wakes up enough to wrap her arms around me as I take her to our room.
"I'm tired Tasha." She mumbles against my neck, she's hardly audible but I could hear her. "I know. I'm here now, we can sleep." I tell her as we enter our room.
I Gently place Y/n on the bed, I couldn't meet her eyes. There was a weariness in her voice as she again murmured, "No, Nat. I'm tired." I couldn't help the sigh that escaped me as I replied, "Just go to sleep, Y/n." The weight of my own exhaustion mingled with the my guilt.
I walk off to the closet to change into comfortable clothes and when I walk back to the bed Y/n is sat crisscrossed in her oversized hoodie with tears streaming down her face again. a knot of frustration tightened in me.
"Y/n stop it. It's late. I'm not dealing with this right now."  I sigh as I pinch the bridge of my nose, my impatience slipping into my tone. But then she looks at me. "No Nat. Im so tired, im tired of being so lonely..." her voice shakes. "I miss you so much. Is it to much to ask you come back to me at the end of a day? I'm hurting so much." She stifles her cry.
I sit next to her and grab her hands. "Baby please. Let's not do this right now. We are both tired so can we please go to sleep and talk about this tomorrow?" I try to negotiate with her.
"No because I might not see you tomorrow, I hardly ever see you anymore Natasha, that's the problem. The past few months you haven't been here... you'd rather stay out till god who knows how late rather then to come home to me..." she pauses for a moment before beginning again. "Natasha I love you so much. And I want you to be happy. So I need to know now. Do you still want to be here?-"
"of course I still want-"
"No Nat, let me speak. I Will not be the reason you are unhappy. I won't, I won't do that. I will not be the reason you miss out on the life you are wanting so I need to now right now. If you are done I need you to tell me- because I can't let go of you by myself, I love you to much to willingly walk away, so I need to hear you say it. If it's time for me to let you go I need you to tell me that, i need you to tell me to let you go. You have to do that for me..."
As she spoke something finally registered with me, something I've known for a long time but never wanted to admit. Y/n has always been a backup plan for me. If any aspect of my life were to go south I could always come back home and she'd be here waiting. She's a safety net, a lifeline, she's the plan B. And I don't want to let that go. If I let her go then that means I have no one to fall back on.
She deserves so much more then me, she deserves someone worthy of her, to give her love and affection, and someone who will show up for her when she cooks dinner, and be there for her when she needs a shoulder to cry on, I know this. I've always known.
She will always be second in my life, she'll be second to my career, to my wants and needs. But that selfish part of me won't let her go. I won't let her go even though I know it's time.
As the room hung in silence, Y/n's  tear-streaked eyes searched mine for a response. For an acknowledgment. The tension between us only thickened. Her eyes begging for an answer of some sort.
"I..." The words lingered on my tongue. My gaze dropped to the floor, avoiding her pleading eyes. I know it's selfish, I know I should do what's best for her because I do want to see her happy but I can't loose her.
"I can't let you leave, Y/n..." I finally admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. Y/n's eyes glistened with a mix of relief and sorrow. She heard the words she was hoping for, but I could tell she was hoping for more. For an expression of love and need, she wanted to feel the truth of my words but she couldn't find any. But I will say what I need to to make sure she doesn't leave. If she needs to hear me say I love her then I will tell her every day, if she needs to hear me say I need her, then I won't stop telling her until she gets sick of it. It's all about playing the right cards.
"I know I haven't been here for you as I should be, I'm sorry you felt neglected, but I need you to know how much I need you, and want you. I can't do this without you."
A heavy silence settled between us as the gravity of my decision sunk in. Y/n, still wrapped in the blanket of my selfishness. she clung to the hope that things might change, that our love will come back.
I reached out, hesitantly brushing a strand of hair from her tear-stained face as an attempt to comfort her. Her eyes glistening with unshed tears. Her eyes have always been a beauty. Pools of color I could always get lost in. I hold both sides of her face and wipe away the tears.
"I love you. I need you to stop doubting me. Do you understand?" I ask. She only nods and leans further into my hands. "Good girl. Now Can we keep talking in the morning? You're exhausted." She again only nods her head. I lean in to kiss her forehead before getting up to my side of the bed.
We get under the covers and it takes no time at all before Y/n is pressed against me, I instinctively wrap my arms around her.
When we first met, I really did love her, or the closest thing to love I could feel. She used to make me laugh and smile, she made me feel comforted, she made me feel safe. I don't know when that stopped. I just hope the feeling might come back if I put in the effort.
As my thoughts continue to race, she eventually falls asleep. She sniffles and whimpers in her sleep, just like she has been these last few months. Even in her sleep she can't seem to catch a break. My heart is heavy, I know I don't love her as I should. I just don't know what I'm meant to do. I was never made to love. It's not apart of my nature. I'll continue to be selfish and hold on to her as a life line for as long as I can. Maybe one day she'll be strong enough to walk away by herself.
