#well. today was a nice day of not doing anything but drawing really. theres an au where i went to art school and am a happier person lol#except not really bc im sure my head would ruin that too. anyway. its a shame i have to return to the pain tomorrow. i have so much to grade#plus a paper to write plus data to work with. a protocol to figure out. and an exam to study for and a final project thatll kill me#god. i also have to get ready for lab Monday. christ. and what shall i say to my therapist Tuesday? well we could try to tackle the deep set#looming issue that prevents me from getting better in our tiny 50min session or i could be like listen. just fucking listen. let me give u#the case 4 and against me having adhd so i can stop feeling fucking nuts. just like give me feedback. ya kno?#it would b inattentive bc im not hyper unless im losing my mind and bordering on hyp0mania. but my focus is something i cant control#executive functioning has always been a problem but now im so worn down im in danger of actual consequences. and its not just things i dont#wanna do. im not just anxiously avoiding. i cant start tasks and stick with them. i flip back and forth and get nothing done. i spiral#sometimes for hours. im not doing anything fun im just not doing anything. frozen in anguish. i dont even wanna think abt how much money ive#lost by not filling out reimbursement sheets which arent hard to do. theyre easy i just never do them. why??? i dont fucking kno. but im not#forgetful. im thinking constantly abt these things. i just cant make them happen. theyre stuck buffering. i do have memory issues tho#my short term working memory is like that of a literal child. so i cant follow complex instructions. i constantly need new info. constantly#need sound. spoken words plus music at the same time. but the main reason i need an answer to this is the reading issue. which is that im#dyslexic but also my thoughts r like an interfering frequency. without realizing ill b thinking and not reading. its a problem no matter#what im reading. its severely disruptive. i will physically read out loud to try to hold my attention in place and still get distracted by#my own head. do u kno how frustrating it is to read something aloud 3 times and not know wtf u just read bc u arent thinking abt anything#interesting u would rsther b reading but u can't fucking pay attention long enough. genuinely if its not adhd and i cant get medication to#fix my focus issues i dont kno wtf im gonna do. im so bad at reading and its extremely frustrating. but is it just dyslexia? idk what i#described doesn't fucking seem normal or like a reading problem. sounds like a focus issue. so riddle me that#idk ive got adhd on both sides of my family plus my focus fluctuates with ny hormones plus homones possibly induce hyp0mania. like i mean#ive got other issues which make a diagnosis difficult to parse but like i feel like that's decent evidence for possibly adhd? my friend said#she was always worried she had a brain tumor before she was diagnosed. to me ive always felt like my brain is full of holes. im missing the#parts that would let it operate correctly. the frontal lobe is just fucked. ugh. i wonder how much accommodation i could get from the#disability office if i actually went to them. i wont bc im fucked up and i dont think they could actually do anything for me at this stage#but alas im curious. ugh. y do i do this to myself? i kno y but not enough time for that in 50min. bad attitude mostly. half my brain#just craves death. the other half is just trying to tread water but its hard with someone trying to drown u. so its all fucked#unrelated

gojo satoru x fem!reader
summary: a fun trip to the grocery store (how do you raise children?)
warnings: a bit of anxiety, a bit too much of gojo

year one.
"no, satoru."
how many times have you said that today?
how many times has satoru pouted--like he's doing right now--and put back whatever he'd plucked off the shelf, grumbling something about how you hated him or you weren't his mom or how he was the one buying everything?
oh, too many times to count. you stopped after five.
megumi rolls his eyes with you, already familiar with this routine, looking at everything in the cart again with the same analytical eye he's had since you all walked into the store. you're pretty sure he's counting the total cost.
it might be cute--the way his frown deepens just a little bit after each new item is added--if it didn't worry you completely.
because it's the first time you've taken the two of them to the store, and the first time you're trying to recall everything their eyes trail over, the things they want but neither of them will say.
you're trying to remember yourself as a kid--if you begged your parents for anything you could possibly want, or if you stood there and stared longingly. but your childhood has always been a dull memory you keep hidden in the attic of your mind.
so you're not sure what to expect.
because neither of them has asked for much, since the first night. tsumiki requested a notebook she could draw in, and megumi asked if you could get gojo to stop talking to him.
the first which you did immediately, even letting gojo get her some expensive pencils to draw with, the second which you... tried.
it hasn't been easy, the past few days. settling two kids into a dysfunctional house didn't exactly fit into your schedule for the week.
"why not?" satoru demands, walking right along slide you, pushing the cart because you'd forced him to. "we need dessert."
"there are seven different types of dessert already in there. i'm hiding at least three of those, by the way."
"i'll find them," satoru grins mischievously, but waves a hand. "we've got two extra people in the house now. i'm not just shopping for me. do you want them to starve?"
you roll your eyes, again. then pull on his hair, which he squeaks at. "you're only shopping for you. i've seen your pantries, you know. and i lived with you for three years. we all saw your grocery lists."
satoru is about to say something, but tsumiki giggles. maybe at the stupid way his face looks.
the way he's almost smiling, even in denial. how his eyes show from just behind his glasses, his brows moving like a separate entity on his face.
you haven't really talked to him, the past couple of days. nothing beyond a question about megumi's technique, or where the two of them went to school.
how long will it take before you finally ask him--
you look over to tsumiki, shaking your head at satoru and smiling back.
"megumi doesn't like sweets much," she adds to you, easily.
you add it to the mental list of things you know about them.
you look at the little boy, and he nods, looking straight ahead. his shoes catch on the ground every couple of steps like they don't fit right.
satoru gasps like this is an outrage. because not drinking straight sugar is offensive to him.
"what?" he asks, stopping all three of you so he can grab megumi by the shoulders. "were you cursed?" he inspects the boy carefully, peering over the glasses on his face.
megumi seems to sink back with each glance of his eyes, his face turning red.
"cursed to deal with you, maybe," you tell him, pushing him away from megumi. the boy fixes his hair--which had been pushed over his eyes--and glares at satoru.
"he doesn't like sweets?" the man repeats, mouth open, glancing at all three of you like he's not sure that any of you are sane.
"you say that as if you don't eat enough for all four of us."
"i need the calories," satoru whines, fluttering his eyelashes at you. you ignore him--and the funny way you feel about the gesture.
you look at both of the kids, observing the two of you closely, and give them a look. a look as in, he's crazy.
megumi swallows. "i like dango."
"great!" you nudge satoru to keep walking. "we'll get some."
"that's it?" satoru prods. "what about--"
you pinch his hip and shake your head, glaring at him when he pouts at you again.
you step on his heels as you walk through the aisles, still watching the kids with sharp eyes, trying to figure out anything they might want.
tsumiki murmurs something to megumi every once and a while, but beyond that, they only walk alongside you and satoru, stepping out of the way of any other adults that pass by.
honestly, you might as well have taken them to the park. they don't even glance at any of the shelves--except when satoru pushes one of them away to grab something. at least at the park, they'd be getting some fresh air.
after you sigh in--what? frustration? disappointment?--for the fourth time, satoru gives you a look, raising his brows. you shake your head.
he nudges you with his shoulder but doesn't say anything. whistling while he sneaks more sugar into the cart.
after the fifteenth minute of this, megumi falls in stride beside you and you look down at him. his eyes evade yours, focusing on the necklace you're wearing instead.
"um, i have to use the restroom," he says to you, soft and embarrassed.
"okay," you place a hand on his back, gently turning him around, "i think it's just over here," you say, listening as satoru follows along idly.
"me too," tsumiki says, trailing on your other side.
the store is almost completely empty, so you tell the two of them that you'll wait right outside the door, and lean against the wall, watching the both of them disappear.
satoru is already looking at you.
"what?" you groan, glaring at the doors.
"what what?"
you sigh. his voice is annoying. "why are you looking at me?"
satoru is too close for comfort, his arm brushing against yours--uncomfortably of course because he is the worst--without a care in the world. "what's up?"
"what do you mean?"
"why are you acting weird?"
"i'm not acting weird," you look at him, frowning.
he's wiping his glasses on his shirt--like he can actually see out of them--and looking at you quizzically. "oh, so you staring at tsumiki and megumi like they're a science experiment isn't weird?"
you ignore him and his stupid blue eyes.
"if i was doing that you'd push me down a flight of stairs, but okay..."
you sigh again, rolling your eyes. and then again. and then you relent because satoru's silence will inevitably break you. "they haven't asked for anything," you say, almost whining to him. "you told them they could pick out whatever they want."
satoru shrugs. "so they don't want anything."
"everyone wants something, satoru. especially kids."
"everyone?"
"yes. i'd expect you to know better than anyone," he laughs but you frown. "it's a human trait."
he smirks, leaning down towards you. "what do you want, then?"
you scoff, flicking his forehead. "i want them to feel comfortable. and i want you to stop bugging megumi."
"but he makes it so easy," satoru says, pretending to be innocent.
"you're the adult, here," you say, even though you don't really believe it--nor should you. "act like it."
"all the kid does is scowl," satoru complains. "i'm just trying to make him comfortable."
"by invading his space?"
"you stare from far away, i stare from up close."
"you antagonize."
satoru grins, crossing his arms, very pleased with himself. he's silent again.
the past year has almost made you forget that satoru knows you like this. he's always known how to keep you talking, how to read your face and your hesitant glances.
it's not like time could make him forget. it's not like you've forgotten anything about him.
"you aren't worried?" you ask, after a second.
"about the kids?"
"yes," you say, obviously, "that we're already messing something up."
he gives you a dubious look. "it's been four days."
and he's right. you can't expect to understand either one of them after seventy-two hours of merely knowing about their existence. but you don't know how to treat kids like these, because any mistake you make--anything you say--will inevitably come back to haunt you.
"it's--" you shake your head. satoru doesn't worry about anything, so you don't even know why you're bringing it up. "it's like when you play with someone else's kid and feel like you're breaking some unspoken rule. except this time we're the ones making the rules. there's no one to tell us if we mess up."
"i think megumi would tell us," satoru answers, almost sarcastically.
"he's the kid, idiot," you groan. "he doesn't know."
"rude," satoru is still grinning. "what could you have messed up, at this point? all you've been doing is asking them questions. that's pretty straightforward."
"maybe it's too much, too fast."
satoru snorts, shaking his head at you. "grocery shopping?"
"everything."
satoru raises a brow at you, watching as you deflate. you feel like each move you make takes a little more air out of you, and who's to say when you'll finally run out?
how many mistakes do you have to make to finally get it right?
and you know--and you know that he knows--that it's not just about them, but about you. is this too fast? is this too much?
satoru rests a hand on your head. "you're too in your head about this."
"well, i have to do it for the both of us."
he ignores that. "if they need something, they'll ask," the words are soft, genuine. he's completely sure like he always is. "you made it clear that we're just here to help. it's been four days."
you sigh, nodding reluctantly.
"we'll figure it out," he says, simply. "you don't need to worry about anything. i mean, i'm here, so..."
you push his hand away, glaring. "megumi doesn't even talk to you."
"hey, yes he does."
"to call you a freak, maybe. or tell you to shut up."
"don't be jealous of my relationship with megumi. we're bonding."
you roll your eyes but find a laugh making its way out of you.
he's always been good at this, too. making everything seem easy.
when tsumiki comes out of the bathroom door, she smiles at the sight of the two of you still there--both talking animatedly, with similar glares in your eyes. she settles in beside satoru, copying him as she leans against the wall.
"you think i'm great, don't you tsumiki?" satoru asks her, goading.
she nods immediately.
you snort and look away while tsumiki giggles when satoru leans down to smack a kiss on her cheek.
something inside of you warms, just briefly.
and then megumi comes out, rubbing his hands together. unlike tsumiki, he glares at satoru and chooses to stand beside you.
"okay," satoru clasps his hands together. "are you both ready to go?"
"um," you turn to him. "satoru we haven't--"
megumi nods immediately, looking a bit brighter at the prospect, and tsumiki furrows her brows, questioning.
"great! both of you pick out three things that you want and then we'll leave."
megumi glowers.
"three things?" you clear your throat. "they need more--"
"three things," satoru repeats, looking right at megumi while he says it. some words pass non-verbally between the two of them. you might have to tell satoru not to talk to megumi about anything without you. "we'll get everything else we need."
tsumiki runs alongside megumi and grabs his arm, which he allows, though you watch his eyes roll.
"go on," satoru shoos them away, smiling all proudly. when they're gone, he turns to you again. "there. now you don't have to worry about picking something they like."
and he reaches his hand to grab yours, as a simple habit.
satoru has never tip-toed around the line of physical contact. even with shoko, even when she would push him off.
something passes between the two of you. holding his hand is familiar; egged on by four years of standing alongside him.
you try not to flinch away from the contact.
and, sure, satoru probably just lost both of them in the store, and you don't actually have everything else you need, or know what those things are, but he's smiling at you.
he's trying to be reassuring.
so you smile back and let him hold your hand.
"we'll figure it out," he whispers to you, and you push the cart this time while the two of you try to find the children he just lost.
*
later that night--after forcing satoru to put away the groceries with the rest of you--megumi lets you sneak into his room with a (third) bag of candy that satoru grabbed last second, acting like you wouldn't notice.
"where's the best hiding spot for this?" you ask him, looking around.
it's pretty doubtful that satoru would risk going into megumi's room just to look for it. and, you're sure, that megumi probably wouldn't let satoru open the door, nonetheless go through his things.
the boy points at his dresser and moves some clothes so you can hide it at the bottom of one of the drawers. he doesn't even question your motivations.
as you back out of the room again, you make him promise not to tell, and, for a single second, megumi smiles back at you, crossing his heart.

Joel was acting like nothing was wrong.
Which wasn't exactly anything new, really. Ever since you knew the man, he always had this rough exterior, that ‘do not fuck with me’ aura around him, and was never, ever, one for showing emotions.
Back in the QZ, when he and Tess sometimes let you hang along with them to get a job done or sneak into the restricted territory, you saw how he burst, pent-up and concealed emotions spilling out of him at long last when something went horribly wrong. He had never aimed his yells at you, though, even when it was clearly your fault that someone noticed you or you fucked up your part of the job.
Just like today. You weren't exactly to blame this time – something heavy fell over around the corner of the building you were sneaking by, and the thug looking for you three spotted you as you were ducking behind a car. Shit like that often happened when you had to work in the ruins of the old world.
Then you got separated from Ellie and Joel when the gang shot at you. All of you saw before that the street was blocked and you were practically surrounded. You barked at the pair to get out of here and that you’ll join them later, and ran in the direction of the ravaged stores, hoping to find a way around the blockade.
You remembered bullets firing at you and missing your head by centimeters. You remembered shooting and killing some of the guys chasing you, then screaming when you bumped into one of them and they grabbed you. The kicks to your stomach, the struggle, some nasty comments made by the thugs before you managed to stab one of them through the cheek. You remembered faces contorted in fury and a man lifting a gun to your head.
In that brief moment, you were glad it was you who was about to die. Better you than–
The man who was about to shoot you dropped his pistol after a loud bang pierced the air and he fell to the ground, dead. Others were soon to follow, too slow in drawing their own guns. It was Joel, of course, all bloodied and livid, blasting a head after head of the guys who were trying to hurt you. You were pinned face down to the floor and couldn’t do anything but watch as he fought them with only his knife and bare hands, as the corridor he was in was too narrow to make use of the gun without it catching on a wall or his clothes. You struggled and tried to break free, unable to bear the sight of the men’s blood mixing with his own from the growing number of cuts on his skin.
The thug holding you down apparently decided to finish you off, but didn’t have a chance before Joel tackled him to the ground, receiving another long gash below his ribs. For one terrifying moment you were sure he was stabbed in the chest and your whole world stopped. But the grunts and curses coming from the spot where Joel was knocked down on the ground quickly told you that he was fine.
You saved Joel just in time, driving a sharp shard of metal into his attacker's neck. After that the older man quickly looked you over, asking if you were hurt, and when you told him no, he grabbed your arm and led you to where Ellie was waiting.
All of you managed to get out and it didn’t seem like the gang was following you anymore. Excluding a couple of cuts and scrapes you all were fine and alive, which had to be a goddamn miracle.
That didn’t mean you weren’t absolutely furious.
Joel knew it and you suspected that’s why he was so insistent about walking in total silence, sending you and Ellie angry glares every time either of you opened your mouth. You were shooting daggers at his back as he walked in the front and even Ellie had to sense the tense atmosphere, for she was unusually quiet.
You knew Joel Miller was a protector at heart. That, among other things, was what made you care for him more than anyone else in your life, more than you’d care for a companion or even a friend. His caring, gentle nature hidden from the world under the rough exterior was what ultimately made you fall for him.
But no matter how attractive and admirable you found him, it drove you up the fucking wall that he never listened to you, never let you do anything even slightly risky or dangerous, like he always expected you to mess up. He didn’t even want you to sneak outside the QZ with him and Tess, and it was the other woman who finally convinced him.
You hated the thought that he might see you as a daughter, or worse - a burden. But the age gap between you two seemed bigger and bigger every time he did something like that, going after you because he didn’t trust you to get the job done.
And you hated it.
Only when the place you’ll spend the night in was picked and Joel took off his backpack with a wince of pain, you marched over to him and shoved his chest in frustration. Even though he was tired and hurt, he still towered over you and was much heavier, which made taking your anger out on him extremely difficult.
“The hell you're doing?” he asked incredulously, looking almost surprised at the fury painting your face.
“Don’t you ever think about doing something like that again, Joel!” you yelled at him, knowing you’re too far for any unwanted ears to hear you screaming. “I fucking told you to take Ellie and run! Why the hell did you come back?!”
“You’d prefer me to leave you behind and let those bastards do whatever sick things they wanted to do? A ‘thank you’ would be nice.”
Okay, now you were seething. You clenched your jaw and pushed him again, feeling honestly so fed up with his bullshit.
“Why don’t you ever listen to me?! You almost fucking died, not to mention you put Ellie in danger, too!”
“Hey, I was safe!” Ellie chimed in, straightening from the place she was sitting in on her sleeping bag. “And there wasn’t actually–”
“Ellie,” Joel cut her short harshly, making it clear it’s not the time for her usual sarcasm. She rolled her eyes and muttered something about grumpy old men, turning their back to them.
You huffed and turned around, going deeper into the woods. Joel said your name but when you didn’t react he went after you with long strides, grabbing your arm and halting you.
“Will you tell me what’s going on?”
“You know damn well what’s going on!” You yanked your arm out of his grasp. “I told you to go and you didn’t listen, like always, and probably had to hack your way through the whole group of these idiots just to almost get yourself killed because of me!”
“Did you really expect me to leave you behind?” he asked with his voice raised.
“Yes! At that moment it wasn’t about me, I was thinking about Ellie and you! She’s way more important than I am! You’re more important!”
“Don’t you dare say somethin–”
“Do you think I’d be able to take Ellie across the country without getting any of us killed?!” You threw your hand to the side, huffing with anger. “I don’t have your skills and experience. You’re the only one able to handle it on your own, so if any of us is to die, it will be me, no questions asked.”
“Like hell it’ll be you!” He was seething now, too, and he came up to you in two long, angry strides, stopping just before he could stomp on your shoes. Suddenly you two were so close that you could feel his breath on your face. “I am not fucking letting you get yourself killed! Not now and not ever.”
“Can’t you just think logically for a second?!” you shouted in his face, tears of rage and helplessness gathering in your eyes. “I’m a goddamn burden to you both! Yes, it was me who alerted them of our presence and I understand that’s probably why you never trusted me…” Actually saying those words out loud was more painful than you anticipated and you had to take a deep breath to calm yourself down. “It’s just, I can’t fight like you can, I’m not as valuable as Ellie, I…”
You had to press your lips together not to sob accidentally. Although you knew you had to make your point across, you still didn’t want Joel to see how weak you actually are.
“But I’m not fucking useless, understand?” you said sternly, looking him dead in the eyes. “I am gonna help you both go as far as possible, but if we’re ever in that kind of situation again, you’re leaving me behind and I’m buying you and Ellie as much time as I can.”
His expression hardened and he started to shake his head, but you beat him to it.
“I know you never wanted me to go on any missions with you, but just once let me be useful, alright? Even if all I can do is buy you a couple of precious minutes.”
“By letting yourself die.”
He said it with such finality and disbelief, all your anger got swept off and replaced by weariness. You sighed heavily and leaned against a tree.
“Yes, Joel. I know you’d rather not lose anyone else, but if I have a chance to help those I care about…” You realized you said too much and shook your head. “I don’t understand why it is such a big deal for you.”
He opened his mouth, then closed it again. His warm brown eyes were on you and for the first time ever you wished he'd look away. You turned your head and sighed again.
God, you were so very tired.
“I’m going to look for some firewood. You go check if the place is safe, alright?”
“No, listen–”
“Just this once, Joel,” you cut him off, not turning around. The tears that have gathered in your eyes before were threatening to spill down your cheeks and you weren’t going to show him how much this situation has pained you. “Just this once, drop it. Please.”
This time he didn’t stop you when you wandered further away from the camp and you truthfully didn’t know if it was better or worse.
*****
The rest of the evening went by mostly in silence. Ellie tried to lighten up the mood by reading some bad jokes from her book and though Joel was his usual grumpy self, it actually helped you a little. The girl seemed pretty proud of herself about making you crack a smile, but her efforts to bring Joel into the conversation came to naught. The smile disappeared from your face every time your eyes met and he looked away.
He almost didn’t say a word throughout your meal and preparing for bed, only muttering something under his breath when Ellie told you both goodnight. You were so tired that you managed to fall asleep almost immediately despite the worry and sadness gnawing at you when your thoughts drifted to the man laying on the opposite side of the fire.
When you opened your eyes again, the dawn was only just breaking. The air was cold and crisp, and you groaned, shivering and pulling your coat tighter around yourself, only to realize something else was draped over your form.
You rubbed your eyes and noticed the familiar green jacket covering your torso. Its owner was a couple of feet away, sitting with his back to you on a big log. The rifle lay next to him, propped up against the fallen tree. Your shoulders slumped at the sight of him and you remembered your argument from last night. You almost laid back down, but ignoring his act of kindness felt wrong, so with a quiet sigh you stood up, making your way to where he was sitting.
Joel glanced to the side when you approached and his gaze was instantly drawn to his jacket you wrapped around yourself.
“You were shivering,” he muttered, apparently knowing what you were about to ask. He said it as if giving you his jacket was the most sensible thing to do in a situation like that.
Was that an attempt to say he’s sorry for how he reacted earlier? You decided not to question his intentions too much and instead sat down next to him, nailing your eyes on the patch of recently disturbed ground.
“Thanks,” you replied under your breath, still not looking at the man. “But you didn’t have to. You’re probably cold now.”
“M’not.”
Liar. Stubborn as always.
None of you said anything else for a long time. You contemplated whether you should just go back to your sleeping bag and leave his jacket on the log, or stay and try to defuse the tension between you two. Somehow neither of these options appealed to you but it was so difficult to just sit here in silence and–
“I’ve been thinkin' about what you said,” Joel spoke up suddenly and very quietly, which interrupted your dwelling. “And I couldn’t stop remembering how damn sure you sounded when you said I don’t trust you.”
A wave of uneasiness washed over you and you wrapped his jacket tighter around yourself. “It’s okay that you don’t,” you said slowly, not really sure what he was getting at. “I mean, I’m not sure if even I would trust my–”
“That’s the thing,” he interrupted you with an irritated sigh and turned his head to look at you with his brows furrowed. “I do trust you. I just have no clue how…” Another sigh. “How I could’ve fucked up so badly that you’d think that.”
You blinked several times, not sure if you weren’t still dreaming after all. It kind of felt like a dream when he was sitting so close to you, his jacket around your shoulders and a rising sun painting his hair in a golden light.
“But you never let me do anything important or dangerous on my own,” you contradicted quietly, which caused Joel to drop his head loosely and close his eyes. “You’re always against taking me with you anywhere, and–”
“That’s because you’re important to me!” he cut you off, evidently louder than he intended, because he immediately glanced at you and rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Sorry,” he muttered. “It’s just hard for me to understand how… how did…”
Joel seemed at a loss for words and you longed to touch him, to take the burden of carrying the conversation from his shoulders and ease the weariness on his face, but you weren't really sure what he intended to say. You didn’t want to get your hopes up, but it almost sounded like…
“I can’t bear the thought of losing you,” he said softly at last and you could pinpoint the exact moment you stopped breathing. Joel’s eyes were closed and he was propping his forehead on his hand, and he looked so… sad. “That’s why I never wanted you to take any risk, because if something happened to you and I weren’t there to protect you…”
He swallowed heavily, inhaled, then straightened up and looked over at you. The look he gave you was so tender and open, it was almost difficult to focus on his words.
“I care about you, too,” he whispered, and you remembered what slipped out of your mouth when you were arguing earlier. “A lot. Much more than I should, but I can’t… I can’t help it.” He turned to look forward, his eyes narrowing from the sunlight creeping from between the trees, and he looked so beautiful in that moment, you wished you had a camera on hand.
“Joel,” you breathed, but he shook his head.
“I didn’t want to make shit weird between… us.” He waved his hand in a vague gesture. “So don’t feel pressured into sayin’ anything. Just don’t expect me to idly stand by while you’re risking your life because–”
“Joel,” you repeated, louder this time, which finally made him shut up.
“What?”
You didn’t really know what you were going to say. You just wanted him to stop talking because he was only torturing himself with this ramble and you couldn’t bear it.
Very slowly, and very gently, you took Joel’s hand in your own and moved it over to your lap. Ignoring his eyes on you, you traced the length of his calloused fingers and brushed the center of the palm where a cut from a couple of days ago was still healing. Your heart was beating so damn loud in your ears, you wouldn’t hear if a parade of clickers just walked past you both, but with all your might you tried to keep your breathing steady and your face from going beet red.
He said you were important to him. That he couldn’t bear the thought of losing you. He didn’t see you as a burden as you feared, so maybe… maybe he didn’t view you as a kid, as well.
Throwing all caution to the wind, you laced your fingers together and brought them to your lips, leaving a small kiss on his bloodied knuckles. Joel tensed in a split second and you weren't sure if he was still breathing, but you didn’t look at him in fear that his expression may take away the remnants of your temporary courage.
“If I misread you, this is gonna be painfully awkward,” you mumbled in a feeble attempt to defuse the tension in the air, so thick it was almost choking you. “But I’m still grateful you told me all thi–”
His other hand – the same hand he was ready to kill and protect with, with which he was ready to tear his way through the mass of enemies just to save you – lifted itself to your face and cupped your cheek. Joel was looking at you with wonder, the fingers you cradled in your own twitching slightly as if he was holding back from tightening his hold. His eyes seemed like they were made out of liquid gold in the light of the morning sun and he looked at you with such adoration that you once again humored the thought that it was just all some cruel, vivid dream.
But no, it couldn’t have been. Not when Joel’s skin was so cold against your burning face and not when his eyes flickered to your lips…
It was you who leaned in first, but once your lips touched, Joel took the reins, untangling his fingers from yours to wrap his arm around your waist and pull you closer.
You expected him to be rough and confident, just like he was during a fight, to take what he wanted and devour you – at least that’s how you always imagined kissing him would be like. What you didn’t expect, however, was a trembling sigh that escaped him when you two parted for a moment to take a breath and a gentle touch of his fingertips along your jaw. His hold on your body was by turns firmer and more loose, like he was afraid he’d scare you off if he let himself use too much strength.
You, on the other hand, had no reservations in taking his face in your hands firmly and parting your lips, encouraging him to go on. It seemed to work at first, because Joel pulled you in even closer, letting you crawl onto his lap, but then he stopped abruptly and moved you gently away, still keeping his hands on both sides of your face.
“Darlin’, I need to know if you’re sure about this, because I won’t be able to…”
You pressed your lips to his again, this time much slower and more delicate, in an attempt to silence him. Joel finally relaxed when you cupped his face and planted a kiss on his brow, always so furrowed in concern and worry.
“Joel, I wanted you to kiss me for the whole time I knew you. I really, really care about your bullheaded skull.” You looked down at him with a playful smile, to which he chuckled. “Though you’re shit at sending signals. I was sure you hated me.”
“Well, you are hard to deal with sometimes,” he mused in a teasing tone and you jabbed him in the stomach before he managed to grab your wrist. “But I… I'm sorry that I made you feel this way. Like you didn’t matter to me.”
You furrowed your brows at the uncharacteristic vulnerability and sadness in his voice and your worry must’ve etched itself in your eyes because when Joel looked at you, he turned away and closed his eyes immediately.
“Listen, you know now you matter to me more than anyone else in this cursed world. I don’t want to ever be as worried sick about you like I was yesterday,” he whispered. You brushed some hair off his face and the creases on his forehead softened a little. “And I don’t ever want you to think you’re not important. You’re… fuck, you’re the goddamn reason I’m doing all this. You're my reason, you hear me?”
You just nodded with a wide smile that threatened to split your face in half.
“I understand,” you answered, just as quietly. “You’re also the reason I’m doing all of this for.”
This time it was unclear who initiated the kiss. Nevertheless, you ended up held tightly in his arms, marveling at his touch on your skin and the feeling of his chapped lips on yours, and there wasn’t any other place you wished to be in.
It lasted just a couple of seconds though, because you were interrupted by the sound of fake barfing and gurgles of disgust coming from the direction of your camp.
“Gross!” yelled Ellie loudly, but she had a shit-eating grin on her face when she squinted at Joel holding you in his lap. “Don’t suck faces when there are children present!”
“Shut up!” Joel yelled back, but without any bite in his tone. A soft smile played on his lips when he looked back at you. “She’ll be insufferable now,” he murmured and you snorted at how done he sounded. He mirrored your expression and held your hand to his face to kiss your fingers tenderly, which made Ellie gag even louder.
“If you start making out in front of me, I won’t hesitate to throw a fucking sandwich at you!”
“She won’t,” muttered Joel, not even turning to the teen before he leaned in and kissed you slowly again.
You smiled into the kiss, barely noticing stale pieces of bread flying over Joel’s shoulder.

strange initiative ( willy wonka x f.reader) +18
Sorry for any grammatical errors, I will check everything asap :)
Enjoy the reading!
Tumblr media
( where willy wonka wants to be more intimate with you but doesn't even know where to start )
You and Willy had been engaged for a long time now.
Support him in every way possible so he could open his dream shop and sell the best chocolate ever made, but lately it was exhausting him beyond all limits.
You wanted to make him relax, you knew you had to make him relax, but he...he wasn't the type for physical contact.
Or rather, it is more correct to say that hugs, pinches and caresses were his specialty, even kisses, sometimes, but never more than that.
He was innocent, clueless and awkward when it came to sex, and even if you never broached the topic, which would end up with him dying of embarrassment and you laughing heartily, you knew well that he would not cross that line.
That suited you fine.
You were much more experienced than him, you had already had other relationships and on the one hand you were happy that he wasn't the guy to take you to bed every night, but lately you've been driven by the desire to find out how his big and delicate hands would caress your hips with possession, draw circles on your thighs with excitement or perhaps much more...
You knew his hands were capable of things girls would just dream of, but he used his manual agility to package and churn out chocolate from morning to night.
Well, maybe luck turned on your side that evening, to your surprise.
You were on the bed when the handle moved and the door creaked a little.
Your boyfriend mumbled a hello and smiled, his cheeks a dark shade of red.
He set down his chocolate bag on your table near the entrance and started fiddling with the buttons on his shirt.
You raised an eyebrow.
"Y/N, are you tired?" Asked he.
"Not really, why? You want the usual cuddles?" You giggled.
He nods as he finally removes the button from his collar. He lets his shirt fall to the floor. He tries to look smooth but he looks awkward as he stands there without a shirt.
His body was still perfectly proportioned, fit, but the contrast with his face was lethal.
"Can we try something new today, babe?"
You didn't understand where he was going.
His brown hat was now hanging on the coat rack, and his dark chocolate curls were swept back, gifting him almost a sensual look, which didn't suit him.
"Ok, sure..." You finally managed.
He gulps down a deep breath then slowly came towards the bed. Willy sat down beside you, taking your hand and pulling you so you could lay beside him.
He put his hand on your waist and brought you close. With his other hand, he started lifting your loose pajama t-shirt to take it off.
"Willy...what are you-"
He gave you a shy smile. You noticed that he’s nervous, he’s shaking. He can barely keep his eyes open and he can’t speak. He managed to get your t-shirt off and stopped for a second, taking a deep breath, obviously staring at your breasts.
He realized at that moment that he really was innocent. You were going to be his first.
"Baby...that's so sweet" You chuckled, getting on top of him as he threw your t-shirt on the floor.
"Are you panicked?" You slowly caressed his curls, feeling the curly silk flow through your hands.
Your boyfriend let out a small muffled sound and nodded. He kept his eyes shut tight as you caressed his curls and his cheeks went even redder. He was terrified and embarrassed but he has this sense of relief that he gets to experience this with you, someone who actually cared for him and loved all his insecurities.
"We're not forced to do it" You whispered.
Silence.
"But...every guy does it and...I have kept you waiting for so long"
Your eyes almost got teary at his words...
He kept a grip on you as he nuzzled his face into your neck. He buries his face into the crook of your neck because he couldn't bear to look at you in the eyes.
"I-I'm nervous," he stuttered, his lips brushing against your skin. "W-what if i mess it up?" his breath hitched, he was trying to stay calm.
"No baby, you won't mess this up"
You could hear him taking a big breath, slowing down his breath.
"Ok, I'm ready"
A shaky smile animating the lips you adored.
"Good boy" You smirked a little, unzipping his beige-green trousers.
Suddenly Willy dropped his head onto the pillow, his chest rising in time with his frantic heartbeat.
You already felt halfway there.
"It's ok Willy, I'm with you. If you need me to stop, just tell me"
He took a deep breath and opened his eyes.
"Just tell me...will it hurt?"
"It depends. Usually it does, if it's the first time, but it lasts for a few minutes"
"Thank you..."
You pulled him close to you and tried to keep the anxiety away. You felt it was your duty to make this as comfortable as possible.
Then you kissed him. Slowly. He blushed with embarrassment.
His lips opened softly beneath yours, allowing you to taste him calmly and thoroughly. Suddenly, his hot tongue invaded you and projected your senses into a languid and boiling dimension, which took away your ability to breathe.
His lips felt like silk and tasted chocolate-like, a complete ecstasy that came from the other world...
Willy Wonka kissed like a god. He moved his mouth with an insecurity and carnality that made your blood tremble at its contrast.
He had never kissed you like that.
"I want to hear you" He murmured, pressing his lips to your ear and then biting the lobe.
"I want to touch you"
You almost had a heart attack. His voice vibrated in your bones until it took your breath away.
Raspy and pushing.
It felt like seeing another guy, who wasn't your shy and crazy inventor boyfriend.
You realized that maybe, all this time, he had just been keeping his perverted fantasies aside, looking for the right opportunity.
Your own thought excited you.
His hands on you and all your clothes were gone now.
When he pushed his tongue into your mouth again you exploded.
You put your hands in his hair and complied with him with an almost desperate emphasis. Your body was burning alive.
You had never felt those sensations before, and they were devastating.
His fingers gripped and trailed up in a trail of shivers to your buttocks. He took them in their hands and squeezed them with possession. He turned your head and your heart pounded in your throat.
You didn't even realise it but now he was the one on top, maybe already for a while.
Now you could finally see it. That need.
It was inside his eyes.
And it was screaming your name.
"Y/N...Y/N I really want to go further..."
"Then do it baby, do anything your body wishes"
After an initial moment of amazement, he gave you a cheeky smile that exuded virility and perversion at the time.
He took off his boxers, sat on his heels and places you astride him. The sight of his erection made you tremble and swallow at the same time.
Your faces were aligned and Willy squeezed your pelvis with his hand. With the other he held it and begins to rub it slowly on your slit, teasing it with your juices and making you shiver with pleasure. Feeling it skin on skin made you on fire. The same fire that burns in his dilated pupils.
"It's all yours baby"
You didn't know if he was asking you to continue because, manually, he was incapable; but the instinct that led him to all of that was terrifying.
He was a completely different person in bed.
Maybe because of some of his new last minute creations? Any chocolates that he didn't let you try?
You chuckled.
"Are you still sure?"
You came back from your trance, barely realising he had asked you something.
You just nodded back, smiling.
Now the caring boy seemed to be back but no, because he had already slammed you against the mattress, returning on top of you.
With a sharp thrust that moves you a few centimeters, he penetrated you, drawing a cry of pain and pleasure at the same time.
It was unexpected, powerful and invasive. Yet, feeling him inside of you was the most beautiful feeling you've ever felt in your entire life. You wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your own lips together, while he stopped and gave you a moment to get used to his size. When the initial burning had faded, you lift your hips and urged him to continue. He grabbed your thighs and pushed them further apart. He came out slowly and entered you again with more force, making you scream.
"Is this the right way? Did I do something wrong-"
He was panicked when you shouted.
"N-n...no...baby, j-just keep going love-"
Pervaded by a wild complacency, he continued to move relentlessly in and out. Harder.
Faster. Making you moan with each thrust.
You indulged him, unable to control yourself. You passed your hands over his chest, moving down onto his contracted abs covered in beads of sweat.
You worshipped him, as if you had a God in your hands, while he slammed you onto the mattress with incredible but gentle force.
He grabbed your hips and with a single move made you turn your back, a small cry of amazement escaped you.
You were kinda proud of him, he didn't even need instructions for the use of your body.
"Is it ok baby...? Can I do it?"
You just nodded.
There was a very tender contrast between the kindness and innocence of his requests for permission and the wild aggression of his gestures that stunned you.
You found yourself with your cheek against the pillow and your pelvis raised to the height of his sensitive spot. With one hand he grabbed your buttock, he placed the other on the back of your neck to keep you still. You felt dizzy and hot.
He gathered your hair into a ponytail and rolled it into his tight fist. With a jerk, he forces you to tilt your head, taking your breath away, as he moves against your opening.
He gave you an overwhelming thrust that made you arch your back.
You twitched your toes.
You rolled your eyes upwards, overwhelmed by a mixture of extraordinary sensations.
You followed his movements and he, pleased on an unimaginable level, tightened his grip on your hips. He bit your shoulders, your neck, every piece of skin possible.
Willy reaches down between your legs with one hand and stimulated your clitoris, intensifying the pangs of pleasure.
My God. You could die...
You didn't know what that guy was capable of...
And no, he wasn't Willy Wonka anymore, but whoever else he was, you loved him.
"W-...Willy...I really need to come..."
"Uh? What does that mean babe?"
You arched your back and tried to find the words.
You still loved his innocence.
"You know...to let go and..."
"Oh, got it my love"
He turns you around, crushing beneath you. With your eyes closed, you wrap your legs around his hips and push your heels against his buttocks. Your smells mix, your bodies merge. This position made everything so intimate...
"Can I still go in one last time?"
Something about the way he asked sounded almost childish and needy.
You nodded, caressing his cheek.
The chocolate maker contracted his muscles and penetrated you with more force. You screamed and lift your hips to meet his thrusts.
You held his waist with shaking knees. You were exhausted, exposed...too much...
You held onto his shoulders until you exploded, for the first time with his name on your mouth, just like in your wet dreams he didn't know about...
Soon his body tensed, his biceps muscles flex, as he is shaken from the orgasm.
Willy looked at the dirty bed sheets like something foreign, different.
"Babe...what is it? Did I hurt you? Did-"
His eyes focused on the white substance.
"No love, it means we both enjoyed it"
His curls between your fingers.
"Mmmh...I see" He exclaimed breathlessly, collapsing on top of you with his face in the crook of your neck. You felt like the earth was shaking, or maybe it's just you doing it.
Or Willy.
You didn't know.
You held onto him tightly, holding him in the warmest, most comfortable hug you've always wanted to give him in bed, after your session.
You would like to thank him... but you didn't have the strength to say it, because you both fall into a deep sleep.
You would have thanked him the next day, perhaps with a second round, and he would have thanked you with his best chocolate ever baked.
You loved Willy more than anything...
Your mysterious, shy and perverted William Wonka.

just found ur account, u post some rly awesome stuff. i was just wondering if you could write a fic for either the 141’s ghost or price in an established relationship with the reader and they forgot the readers birthday?
Forget Me Not
Pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley x Reader
Genre: Hurt No Comfort
Simon's a sharp man. He can't afford to be anything less, lest he ends up with a bullet in his back but it's most often the more mundane and meaningful things that slip his mind. Her birthday, for example.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
There wasn't an expectation to go all out for every little celebration in their lives. Both Simon and her were relatively quiet people, preferring to keep celebrations more intimate between them. A small gift for an anniversary, a walk along the beach. It was the little things that were the most special to her, they showed her that grandeur and big gestures weren't the only means of expressing love so deep and devoted.
But never had it come to one of them completely withdrawing.
Their birthday were a slightly more lively affair, having more people involved. Simon, of course, was not particularly fond of having his own but hers? In the past he'd arranged surprises for her on the day, whether that be contacting her family and friends or pulling her out of bed in the morning with breakfast he'd made just for her.
It's why it's so surprising to see him go about his morning like a completely normal day.
He'd kissed her in the morning, no different than how he does every day, went about the house gathering his gear for work that day. Nothing special, just a debrief he needed to attend in the afternoon.
"You'll be going in today?" She asks, unable to keep the slight frown off her face. Her coffee cup is set on the counter with a small 'clink.'
He nods, leaning down to lace up his boots. "Got a debrief at noon. Johnny's been yapping our ears off about a new bar he found so I've no doubt he'll find a way to drag everybody there afterwards." He rolls his eyes but she can tell it's in a fond way.
As disinterested as Ghost might act, she knows he's fond of his team.
Ghost nods, straightening up once he's done with his boots. "Don't wait up for me. Might be a while till I'm back." She watches, a little stunned as he leans down to press a kiss to her forehead before hitching his bag over his shoulder.
Oh.
She didn't think he'd...forget.
"Are you sure you're not forgetting something?" She asks half thinking he's playing some sort of joke on her. He couldn't have forgotten...right? Simon was normally so good with these things. He'd never forgotten before. "Something else that's today? Something important, maybe?"
He gives her a blank look, coming to a stop next to her. "Nothing important enough to remember." He responds, pulling out his keys.
She knows he doesn't mean it like it sounds to her, but that doesn't stop the pang of sudden hurt. Nothing worth remembering?
He was probably trying to be funny with that dry humour of his, but after waking up to him already out of bed, excited to spend the day with him, finding out he'd be going to spend some time in some bar instead of with her today...
It really does sting.
She knows she could call out to him, just tell him that it's her birthday today, but part of her just...doesn't want to. If it wasn't worth remembering, maybe she should celebrate by herself this year...
He calls out a goodbye. The front door opens. Shuts close behind him.
Silence.
She draws in a long, slightly shaky breath and picks up her coffee mug, willing the stinging in her eyes to recede.

Simon's had a pretty smooth day so far, which is something that almost never happens. The debrief went smoothly confirming that the Russian intel they'd spotted the other day had been solid enough to warrant the extraction op the team was to take in two weeks time. The bar Johnny had been so eager to show them hadn't been half bad either.
The decor was old 80's themed, a nice polished mahogany bar spanning the entire length of a wall. Ghost had taken to sitting down with a whiskey, watching Price and Gaz play pool while making idle conversation with Johnny sat by his side.
Well, 'conversation' was a generous word. It was mostly Johnny doing the talking with him answering every now and then, or chiming in with a hum to show he was still listening.
"I'm surprised your still hear, you know." Johnny says, shaking his head as he takes another sip of his drink.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Had a fight with the missus?" Gaz's voice joins in, the other two having wrapped up their game. He orders a drink for himself before sliding into the stool next to Ghost. "Got to agree with Soap on this one. I'm bloody surprised you're in deep enough shit to spend the night here instead."
Ghost stares at them like they're stupid. Maybe they are, because neither of them are making a lick of sense to him.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" He drains the last of his whiskey, not missing the look exchanged by the other two men.
"Mate-" Gaz says incredulously.
"Nah, he's not that daft." Soap cuts him off. "He's just fucking with ya."
Gaz narrows his eyes at Ghost. "I don't think he is."
"He's gotta be. Everyone knows-"
"Will either of you spit it out?" He sets his glass down on the table with a little more force than necessary.
"Bloody hell, you did forget." Gaz whispers. "Oh, you're a dead man." Soap recognising the frustrated twitch of Ghost's hand decided to blurt it out before hands get thrown.
"It's your lass' birthday today." Soap says. "Don't tell me ya forgot."
Ghost go through a rush of feelings all at once.
First in disbelief. He's not stupid, of course he'd remember something as simple as a birthday, especially hers. The second is doubt, because the look on Gaz's face is one so full of pity it makes him uncomfortable.
Ghost pulls out his phone to check the date and...
Shit.
The third feeling is disbelief. There's no way he just forgot. Someone must be fucking with him.
"Are you sure you're not forgetting something?"
"Nothing important enough to remember."
The barstool scrapes as dread and guilt twist his gut. Grabbing his coat, he makes for the door without another word, cussing out Johnny for the cackle he laughs behind his back as he leaves in more of a hurry than anyone's ever seen him.
8pm. He'd spent the entire day taking the piss with the guys on the one day that should have been dedicated to her.
He'd been away for so long, arriving home only a few days ago and he'd just...left her again. Granted, those few days being so busy had been out of his control but still. That wasn't an excuse, he decides, turning on the car.
He hadn't been busy today, and had had the time to go back home to her after his debriefing.
His hands tighten around the steering wheel.
                                 · · ─────── ·𖥸· ─────── · ·
Her earrings glint under the light of their bedroom. Staring at herself in the vanity, admiring the gorgeous dress her friend had gifted her for today, she can't help but feel a lack of excitement for the upcoming night.
Simon has really forgotten. She'd come to terms with it a couple hours ago when the sun had finally set and she'd realised that it wasn't a joke. He'd really, truly forgotten.
Going out partying hadn't been the plan at all, but when he friends had come over to give her a hug and presents, they'd seen her upset, still in her house clothes and decided it was completely unacceptable for her to spend the day like that.
Ushered into getting ready, they'd made plans to meet at this new upscale fancy restaurant before hitting a few clubs on the way back home.
Better than nothing, she reminds herself, chasing away thoughts of what her night might have looked like if Simon had stayed. No time for sulking, this was supposed to be a happy day. She was supposed to be happy.
So why does she feel tears sting at her eyes when she reaches for her purse to check if she has everything? Blinking them away, she takes a second to compose herself.
The key jingle in the lock, the sound echoing from the hallway into their bedroom. She tenses in surprise. Was he home?
Hope blooms in her chest. If Simon was home, maybe he did remember? Maybe he came home early to-
No.
No that wasn't right, she chides herself, smile slipping off her face. Even if he did remember now, that's not an excuse for forgetting the rest of the entire day, for leaving her feeling so shitty and going off to drink with the others.
Straightening her spine, she takes a deep breath and heads for the door. Her feet take her halfway down the hall before the front door flies open on its own, baring the man in question.
His knuckles are white with how hard he's gripping his keys, and some of the tension in his shoulders relaxes when he lays eyes on her. Something akin to relief, as if he might have thought she wouldn't be there when he got home.
"I-"
"Early night?" She straightens out her dress, feeling his eyes on her. He's quiet for a beat, assessing the situation before acting. Ever the soldier. "Mine's just starting." Her voice is as even as she can make it.
Simon shuts the door behind him. "I didn't realise-"
"That's right." He doesn't get to speak right now, doesn't get to fill her mind with pretty apologies and promises. Not this time, not tonight. "You forgot, Simon." A flash of guilt in his eyes makes her feel a pang in her chest she refuses to let take the reigns. "You forgot." She wavers for a moment, clears her throat to regain some control. "Nothing important enough to remember, right?"
It's a punch to the gut, hearing his words thrown back at him with the knowledge of how she interpreted them. His jaw clenches, frustrated at himself for letting something like this slip by him. "I'm going to make it up to you, yeah? Just let me-"
"No thanks." She shakes her head.
"Just let me finish," He narrows his eyes, a little irked at being cut off over and over again.
"No, Ghost." The way he tenses at his name being abandoned for his callsign is proof enough of how he's fucked up. "I don't want to hear it, alright?" She swallows. "I don't want to hear any of it, I'm going out, I'm going to have a good time on my goddamn birthday with my friends, and I'm not going to let you make me cry before I leave."
Cry? It's then that he notices how red her eyes are. Guilt slams into him hard enough to wind him, it worms it's way through his chest and eats him alive, gnawing on the little parts of his heart that haven't gotten calloused.
The first thing he notices when he walked in was how gorgeous she looked. Standing there in front of him in that dress, he's well familiar with most of her clothes, having been the one taking them off at the end of the day, but this one he hasn't ever seen before and it hugs her just right, enough to make his mind blank for a moment when he first walked in.
But he understands. Ghost sees the way she's clutching onto that purse of hers, the way her knuckles are white and the slight shake of her shoulders.
She's trying not to cry.
Because of him.
Fucking hell, that hurts. But not as much as what he's made her feel. Simon wants to argue, wants to tug her close and make it all better, but he sees that she means it, and hell does she deserve to have a good time after the way her morning went.
Simon steps aside with a tight nod.
Letting out what almost is a small, shaky sigh of relief, she brushes past him on the way out and Simon really doesn't have enough self control, because his hand wraps around her elbow to halt her in her tracks.
"I'm sorry, love." He says, so gently, so quiet. Such a stark difference to how he usually is. "I really am. And I will make it up to you, yeah? I promise."
A tight knot forms in her throat, threatening to send a fresh wave of tears at her conflicted feelings. It's all she can do to give him the barest of nods, avoiding his eyes.
"Don't wait up for me. Might be a while till I'm back." She echoes his words from the morning back to him before she shakes off his grip and leaves him alone.
An empty house, a mind full of buzzing remorse.

In the 4 months since working at Family Video. Y/n L/n had never once worked a shift with Steve Harrington. Sure, they had run into each other a couple times, sharing a co-worker and best friend, Robin Buckley, but the two had never been alone together.
That was, until this Monday.
Monday’s were always slow which is why Y/n was looking forward to spending her whole shift gossiping and talking movies with Robin. But when she opened the door, the last person she expected to see was the former “king” of Hawkins High.
“Hey,” Steve said, awkwardly shifting his weight between his two feet.
“I-I thought Robin was working today,” was all she could muster to say.
“She’s sick, I’m just filling in.”
Nodding, Y/n warily made her way over to the front desk, putting her stuff behind the counter. What was she going to do for eight hours with Steve Harrington? From the little she knew about him, they were total opposites. He like sports, shitty blockbusters and went through women like they were nothing. There was nothing she could possibly think of that would make for interesting conversation with him.
Instead of attempting to make small talk about the weather and whatever new burger Benny decided to put on his menu, she opted for complete separation from him. After placing her bag on the ground, pulling out her water to keep on the small shelf below the register, she turned to face him.
“Keith hasn’t reorganized this place since we were sophomores so I’m gonna go do that,” she said, walking away from the counter, not waiting for a response.
“What about customers?” she heard him say from behind.
“It’s a Monday. I say we’re gonna have 5 customers for the entire day tops.”Turning into an isle, she opted to start with the arthouse films.
“Hmm I say seven.”
Peeking her head from around the corner, she looked at him confused. He leaned against the counter, a smirk on his face like he had just predicted the Y2K problem.
“Are you trying to challenge me?” she asked, unsure of what game he was playing.
Shrugging his shoulders, he emerged from behind the counter. “Maybe I am. What do you say? Five or less, you win. Seven or more, I do.”
“What about in between?”
“Let’s call it a draw.”
Rolling her eyes, she withdrew back into the arthouse section. “Whatever to get you to stop talking, Harrington.”
It was a good 30 minutes before they spoke again. Nobody came in, like expected, but she could hear him fidgeting with something on the other side of the room. She didn’t care, though, let him do what he wanted it wasn’t bothering her… until it was.
“Alright, what do you think?” he said, turning into the isle. He held up a drawing, not a particularly good one as Y/n couldn’t tell what it was supposed to be.
“Of the blob you drew?” she asked, putting another tape back on the shelf.
“It’s not a blob! It’s Mrs. Talc! The math teacher. You had her too right? We were in the same class?”
Y/n couldn’t contain her laughter. She brought a hand up to her mouth trying to hold back but it wasn’t working. “Yeah, we were but she didn’t look like that.”
Steve smiled, looking at his drawing and back at her. “I think it looks exactly like her.”
She kept laughing, Steve joining along as he moved next to her, picking up a film from her pile to organize. As the chuckles died down, she looked at him, smiling as he carefully placed the films back on the shelf. It was a moment before he realized her stare.
“What?” he asked, placing another tape on the shelf.
“N-nothing,” she said quickly, grabbing a tape herself. “I didn’t know you actually knew how to work here.”
“Hey, I can do my job!”’
“Yeah but you’re Steve. King Steve who if I remember correctly, was failing Mrs. Talc’s class.” That seemed to strike a chord with him. She watched as his small smile disappeared, leaving a solemn expression on his face. “S-sorry I didn’t mean-“
“-No it’s okay,” he interrupted her. “I was King Steve, or at least that’s what everyone labeled me as… You were right I was failing Talc, but I’m different now. Changed for the better -hopefully.”
He took the last film, placing it on the shelf before looking down at her. She didn’t know what to say after judging him so harshly. Before even getting the chance to apologize, the front bell rang, indicating a customer walking in.
Steve backed up, his gaze dropping to the floor. “I’ll go help them out,” he said, walking away without waiting for a response.
She felt like shit, bringing up high school drama that he clearly wanted to forget. He was right, about him changing. If this was still high school he wouldn’t even be speaking to her right now - she was surprised that he even remembered they shared a class.
As she turned the corner she watched as Steve intently recommended a movie to the customer. He put a smile on his face as he handed over the tape, patiently waiting as they viewed it. He was quite good at this job actually, she was never able to get someone to rent a tape as fast as he just did.
The customer left the store, some blockbuster movie shoved into a plastic bag and Y/n decided right then and there that she would make an effort to know the new Steve Harrington.
Walking up to the counter, she rested her arms on top. “Alright Harrington,” she started. “How about we make this bet more interesting?”
He was caught by surprise, not expecting to get another sentence out of his co-worker for the rest of the shift. “S-sure,” he mustered out, recovering quickly with a raised eyebrow. “What do you have in mind?”
“Loser buys the other lunch.”
He debated only for a moment before holding out his hand for her to shake. “Alright, L/n, you’ve got yourself a bet.”
With a smile she shook his hand before turning around to go start organizing another shelf. She couldn’t see from behind as she turned into the action movie section but Steve had a grin that reached from ear to ear.
——
After that initial shift, the one where Steve ended up buying her lunch for the day, the two workers grew closer and closer. Y/n suddenly found herself having more one on one shifts with him, each which were filled with laughter and soon-to-be inside jokes.
Robin was especially grateful for their new friendship, finally having her two best friends get along was the best gift she could’ve asked for - and she made no effort to hide that fact.
“I just can’t believe that you and the dingus are getting along!” she said, watching Y/n stack another tape on the shelf. “I never thought I’d see the day.”
“Yeah, well you were right,” Y/n said. “He’s changed since high school. He’s actually a decent human being now.”
“I told you so!”
“Robin, I just said you were right,” she reminded her friend, making them both chuckle slightly.
Almost on cue, the doorbell rang and Steve Harrington walked through. Robin watched as her friend stood up straight, walking over to join her from behind the counter.
“Hey Steve,” Robin greeted him. “We were just talking about you.”
“What?” Y/n said quickly, seeing the confused look on his face turning to face him. “No we weren’t. What’s up? I thought it was your day off?”
“It is, I just grabbed the wrong tape when I left yesterday and Henderson is throwing a hissy fit. I’ll just go grab the right one… do you wanna help me?”
“S-sure!” Y/n exclaimed, walking out from around the counter to head over with him.
Robin watched the scene unfold in front of her with suspicion. She watched as Steve fumbled with the tape he was holding, walking closely next to his new friend. Y/n made no move to back away, smiling as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. It was like a scene straight out of a movie. Robin watched as Steve picked up the new tape, brushing over Y/n's hand softly in the process.
Backing away slightly, he raised a hand to her. “See you Buckley!”
“Bye Harrington!” she yelled as Y/n made her way back over to the counter with a smile she wasn’t trying to hide. “Alright,” Robin began to her. “When were you gonna tell me?”
Y/n looked at her confused. “Tell you what?”
“That you and Harrington are dating!”
“What!?” she exclaimed, taking a step back. “M-me and Steve? What- no- why- we’re not dating.”
“Well you coulda fooled me.”
“What do you mean?”
“Steve didn’t need help exchanging that tape. He works here he just wanted to be near you! And the way you too were smiling and blushing? I mean, you’re not dating, you guys have it bad for each other.”
“I do not like Steve like that, Robin!” Y/n persisted, crossing her arms.
“Whatever you say… Hey, you’re still going to Nancy’s party tomorrow right?”
“Yeah I’ll be there… I’m gonna go take my break.”
Waving bye, she headed into the back room, Robin’s comment still on her mind. Steve and her dating? That was ridiculous! She liked talking to him, having his company during work made the shifts feel like they were going by faster. And sure, she liked the way he chuckled at her jokes, like everything she said was clever.
But they were just friends.
Even if she did like him, Steve definitely did not think of her the same way. She needed to stop thinking about this. There was no good in dwelling over things that weren’t true.
🎬🎬🎬
The party at Nancy Wheeler’s was more packed than usual. Y/n didn’t know that she was friendly with this many people but nevertheless, the house was packed. She moved through the living room in an attempt to get to the kitchen when she heard her name being called out.
“Y/n!” she turned to see Robin, her arm strung over her girlfriend Vickie.
“Hey guys,” she returned. “Packed house huh?”
“Yeah I think the football team heard it was going on and crashed it,” Vickie commented, practically yelling over the voices around them.
Y/n nodded, searching for a clear path to the kitchen.
“Looking for someone?” Robin said with a smirk.
“No?” Y/n said, not knowing what she was talking about. “I’m trying to find the quickest way to get a beer.”
“Maybe he can help you.” Robin motioned behind her to someone.
Turning, Y/n was caught by surprise. Steve Harrington was in the living room, look around like he didn’t know what to do. She turned back to Robin and Vickie to ask why he was here but they were gone before she could.
“Hey, L/n,” said Steve, causing her to look back at him.
“H-hey,” she said awkwardly. “I didn’t know you would be here.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I didn’t think you and Nancy were on good terms… I heard about how she dumped you in high school…”
“Yeah…” he said, remembering back to the day she was talking about. “It’s fine, we weren’t meant for each other but we’re still good friends.”
Y/n nodded, looking around not knowing what to do. “So… beer?” she asked.
“Beer,” he agreed.
The two finally made their way to the kitchen grabbing two bottles before suddenly there was an arm back on Y/n's shoulder. A friend from high school hastily pulled her away from Steve, giving her just enough time to give him an apologetic look.
As her friend went on, drowning her in every detail of her life since the moment they last saw each other, Y/n tried to think of every possible way to escape the conversation. She tried to go to the bathroom, scan the room for Robin, and even just make up an emergency altogether, but the girl wouldn’t stop speaking. She droned on and on about her boyfriend and how they were going to move in together, not even letting Y/n speak a word. To put it simply, she was exhausted.
It wasn’t until the girl finally left with her friend that Y/n realized they had been talking for nearly the entire party. She looked around, watching as people crashed to the floor or leaving without saying any goodbyes - she had missed the entire thing.
The house was a mess and since the party was basically dead now anyways, she thought it was as good as time as any to start cleaning up. Finding a trash bag in the kitchen, she opted to start with the empty cans left in the living room. Slowly putting one bottle after the other in to the bag, she heard someone call out for her.
Groaning, she turned around, hoping for it not to be her old high school friend. When she saw who it was, a smile was brought to her face.
“Where have you been all night?” asked Steve Harrington, plopping down on the sofa.
“Getting my ear talked off by some girl we used to go to school with. It was so boring,” she told him, putting another can in the bag.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“Helping clean up, maybe you should too.”
“No,” he waved her off. “Stop that, I hired cleaners to come in the morning.”
Y/n dropped her bag to the side, trying to process what he just say. “I’m sorry you paid for someone to come? Damn Harrington, throwing around the big bucks.”
He gave a small chuckle as she sat down on the couch next to him, their shoulders bumping slightly at the sudden movement.
“Yeah well what else am I gonna use it for. Might as well help some friends out right?”
“I guess so…”
Silence took the air for only a moment before Steve continued. “…my parents are never home,” he started up again, a more serious tone taking over his voice. “When you’re constantly alone, it’s easy to get swept up in making yourself busy to uh, block out any of the feelings…so whether it be finding a minimum wage job, hanging out too much with Robin, or paying to have cleaners come to your exes house…it just helps to take your mind off things…”
He trailed off into silence again, scouring to himself for oversharing with someone he barely new. Y/n could tell he was getting tense, the way his shoulders caved in, trying to engulf himself.
“I get what you mean,” she responded softly, trying to make him feel better.
He looked over at her, his eyebrows raised in surprise. “Yeah?”
Nodding, she continued. “My dad left when I was little… it’s really only been me and my mom for as along as I can remember. I’m so used to cleaning up and taking care of others sometimes it feels like my brain just goes on auto pilot. Like if I’m not helping others I won’t stop to realize I’m not taking care of myself.”
She could see his eyes soften, looking at her like he wasn’t expected to hear her unannounced childhood trauma.
“S-sorry,” she backtracked, looking down at her lap. “That got a little deep there for a second.”
Quickly Steve replied, “Don’t apologize.” She looked back up at him; he was leaning closer to her, almost feeling his breath against her face. “I like learning new things about you. The good and the bad.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
She felt herself moving closer, her eyes darting from his eyes down to his lips.
“I like learning new things about you too.”
His hand reached up, cupping her cheek, pulling her in closer. They were practically connected, their lips barely hovering over each other. It was in that moment that Y/n decided, Fuck it.
She closed the gap between them, feeling the hand on her face apply a little but more pressure. It was slow, like they were savoring each last bit of the kiss, like it would be the first and last time this would be happening.
Y/n pushed into him, pulling him closer by the waist as she felt his other hand tangle in her hair. He moaned into her mouth, turning his head to get a new angle. It felt…nice; something she hadn’t expected from the playboy of her old high school.
Slowly, they pulled away, wanting only a moment to catch their breaths before diving back in. But before their lips could connect again, someone called out for him.
“Steve!” He turned his head, his hair brushing against her face before she turned as well. In stumbled a very drunk Eddie Munson, a bottle of beer dropping from his hands. “H-have u seeen Chrisslsly?” he asked, slurring his words.
“No, Munson I haven’t,” he replied, a tone of annoyance in his voice.
Eddie tripped over the hem of the rug, falling on the floor before rolling over on his back aching. Y/n felt Steve leave her embrace, getting up to go help up his friend. Leaning down, he took one of Eddie’s arms and draped it over his shoulder.
“Come on, Munson, let’s get you home.”
Without another word, another acknowledgment of what had just occurred, he left, taking his drunk interrupter with him.
“What the fuck just happened?” Y/n whispered to herself.
She ran her hands over her face, like she would wake up from a dream any minute now. But as her eyes opened again she found she was still on Nancy Wheeler’s couch, in shock that she just made out with one of her best friends.
🎬🎬🎬
“You’re fucking kidding me!” Robin exclaimed, leaning over the counter of Family Video.
Y/n was restocking the sci-fi movies, relaying the events of the previous night’s party. “Come on Robin,” she said, putting another movie on the shelf. “It was just a kiss.”
“A kiss?! Y/n, that wasn’t just a kiss. That was a declaration of love!”
She rolled her eyes. “Come on, be serious. It was barely anything.”
“Well what does Steve think about this?”
“I haven’t talked to him since it happened…” Y/n said trailing off. “…Eddie came in drunk and he had to leave pretty quickly.”
“And he hasn’t called?”
She shook her head. “Hence why it was only a kiss. He didn’t mean anything more than that.”
“Y/n, Steve doesn’t just kiss anyone.”
“Did we go to the same high school?” she asked sarcastically.
“Come on, you know he’s changed since then. How else would you guys be friends?” Robin emerged from behind the counter, walking up and grabbing her with both shoulders. “Trust me. He likes you. Eddie just got in the way and he’s probably too nervous to call.”
Robin was being very persistent and it was not helping Y/n's case. She didn’t want to admit it, but, she liked kissing Steve Harrington. She liked that he opened up to her and wanted to know more about her. He was the first boy that felt to her like he actually cared.
But he didn’t call her, didn’t even acknowledge their kiss as he left the party with Eddie. Sure, he changed his ways but she knew for a fact that Harrington charm was still there. Why wouldn’t he call if it wasn’t just a kiss?
“I’m going back to restocking,” Y/n said, wanting to be done with the conversation.
Robin groaned, walking back to her place at the counter. “All my friends are idiots,” she murmured under her breath.
🎬🎬🎬
Another week went by without any call or talk from Steve. That was, until she walked in for another morning shift, one that she was expecting to see Robin at.
As she opened the doors to Family Video, finding they were already unlocked, she stumbled back slightly. Steve was already behind the counter, playing with some Rubik’s cube as he waited for the shop to open.
When he noticed her enter, Steve stood up, tossing the cube to the side, leaning his hands on the counter. “H-hi,” he said awkwardly.
Still in shock that he was here, she got straight to the point. “What are you doing here?”
“Robin, uh, called out sick again.”
Nodding, she put her bag down, not knowing what to do. They hadn’t spoken in over a week, a week since he kissed her and left without another word. She wanted a normal shift with her best friend, one where she didn’t have to worry about what she did or said, or if he was going to reject her to her face.
“I’m just gonna go organize the romance section,” she said, walking away without another word.
The shift turned from painful silent into one of the busiest days they had in a along time. Y/n got maybe two tapes on the shelf before a customer came up to ask her a question. Looking over to the counter, hoping Steve could help, she saw he too had another customer at the front.
With a smile, she turned back to the women in front of her, directing her over to the silent movie section. The first half of their shift went on like that, always someone helping a customer and having no time to do anything else.
When the half way mark hit and Y/n was able to come back from lunch, it was finally empty. She sighed, watching as Steve went to the back to begin his break, happy she would finally have time with her own thoughts.
While she was helping the customers, Robin’s words still played in the back of her mind. Steve doesn’t just kiss anyone, he’s changed. It didn’t matter cause he would have talked to her by now - called at least. No, she wouldn’t bring it up because it would only lead to rejection and Y/n didn’t think she could handle that.
The door in the back slammed close and Y/n peeped her head around the corner to see Steve emerge from the break room. They made eye contact for a moment before she stuff her head back into the romance section, set on organizing the shelf.
Two hours had past and every now again she check around the corner to see if there were any new customers. There wasn’t but she could see her coworker getting antsy, like he needed to say something but she would hide every time he tried. She had finished organized the section pretty early on, but there was nothing left to do so there she sat, reorganizing the shelf once more.
Y/n stuck her head out one more time, expecting to see him at the front desk but he was no where to be seen. Thinking he left to get something from the back, she tuned around to grab another tape. The last thing she was expecting to see Steve Harrington standing behind her. Yelping, she jumped back slightly, trying to catch her breath.
“Jesus, Steve! Why are you standing there like that?!” she exclaimed.
“You’re ignoring me,” he stated.
She sighed, grabbing the film. “No, I’m not.”
“Yes you are,” he continued, watching as she continued her task. “You’ve been reorganizing the same section for over two hours.”
“It’s messy,” she shrugged.
“Bullshit.”
As she went to put another tape on the shelf, he reached out a hand and blocked it. He stepped closer to her as she turned to him, not wanting to deal with his little fit. Staring up at him, she felt her gaze soften to match his. He looked distraught, like he was a bubble that could burst any second.
In a soft voice he said, “We have to talk about it.”
Oh boy. She couldn’t do this. Not now, not here. “Talk about what?” she asked, knowing full well that was a lie.
Steve rolled his eyes. “Oh come on.”
She stepped back from him, needing to get away from how close they once were. Slowly she shook her head. “No, we don’t,” she finally gave in.
“I think we do-“
“No!” she interrupted him, leaning against one of the stacks of tapes. She let her head hit the top shelf behind her as she closed her eyes in defeat. “I won’t let you reject me to my face so let’s just skip this conversation and go on with our shift.”
When she opened her eyes, she saw that Steve was once again in front of her. Making no move to walk away, she watched as he placed both his hands on either side of the shelf, trapping her in his gaze.
“I lied,” he said plainly.
“What?”
“I lied, Robin isn’t sick I asked her to trade shifts with me.”
Y/n felt her heart beating faster. What was he saying? What did this mean?
“Why?” she asked him.
Steve rolled his eyes. “Why do you think?” He leaned in closer, his face inches from hers. “I don’t think that kiss was a mistake, and I really wanna kiss you again.”
Y/n felt her heart drop. Was this real? Was she dreaming right now? She looked up into his eyes, they made her feel like she was the only one in the world. Fuck it, dream or not, she really wanted to kiss him back.
“Then do it,” she said.
Before the words could even finish forming on her tongue, Steve leaned in, capturing her lips on his. She felt her hands find their way to his waist, trying to pull him closer to her. He pressed her more against the shelf, the kiss quickening and becoming more intense by the second.
There was almost no time to come up for air as he leaned down to kiss her again. It felt desperate, like thirst you couldn’t quite get rid of. She smiled into the kiss, feeling him do the same.
They were both so stupid denying their feelings for each other. It was obvious how they felt, and now kissing him in the romance section, she couldn’t figure out why she waited.
As he moaned into her mouth, the door of Family Video rang. Quickly, they pulled apart, turning their heads to the door. A very shocked Vickie stood, still on the front doormat. Y/n pushed Steve away, trying to clean up her appearance like it would erase what their friend had just seen.
“Vickie-” Steve tried to start with her but he was cut off quickly.
“-Oh Robin is so going to freak when she hears about this!” she exclaimed, turning to walk back out the store.
“Wait did you need something?” Y/n asked, wondering why she came in to begin with.
“Not anymore!” she shouted, bolting to her car outside.
Y/n heard Steve say, “Shit,” as he moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her from behind and resting his head on her shoulder. “Robin is not going to live this down is she?”
“No, I don’t think she will.”
He leaned down, trying to kiss her again but Y/n put a finger up to his lips. She turned around to face him properly.
“No,” she said.
“But I really wanna kiss you again,” he whined.
“You can… after you help me organize the romance section.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he said with a smirk, walking over and putting tapes of the shelf.
Y/n laughed watching as he tried to rush through the task. Steve Harrington was a goofball and very bad at communicating his feelings but that didn’t matter anymore. She found her place next to him, helping put the tapes away smiling at the thought of their kiss in the romance section.

No Flirting at Trivia - Quinn Hughes
Summary: After moving to Vancouver by yourself you start to doubt your decisions. But one group of people make you feel a little more welcome in the new city.  And there’s one person in particular who makes you certain you made the right decision.
Word Count: ~5,800
Warnings: Pretty wholesome, some drinking.
A/N: Honestly, don’t really know much about Quinn Hughes, he just gives kinda quiet, sweet vibes so I ran with that for this one. Could be way out of character, I’m not sure.
Moving to Vancouver was a huge decision, one that almost didn’t happen. When you got the job offer and they also offered to pay for you to relocate there weren’t any rational reasons to say no. The job was great, the pay was great, the benefits were great. But you didn’t know anyone in Vancouver. You had never moved to a new city not knowing a single person there.
But you didn’t want to regret letting the opportunity go so you packed up everything you owned into a U-Haul and made the journey to Vancouver. For a couple weeks you worried that you had made a huge mistake. Your job was great but that’s where the positives ended. The only social interaction you had was at work, which was even limited with the majority of your days being spent with your eyes locked on the computer in your cubicle. There was a loneliness to your life that made you question if you had made the right choice.
That was until you met Kayla. She lived in the apartment directly across from yours. After seeing each other and exchanging fairly standard small talk a few times she invited you to a dinner party she was having. You said yes immediately and a few days later you were in an apartment with more people at one time than you had talked to in the entire three weeks you had lived there. Not only were you welcomed with open arms that night but you were quickly incorporated into the little group of friends. You were invited to everything they went to and did and you stopped feeling so lonely in the new city.
It had officially been three months since you moved to Vancouver and things were starting to feel more and more normal everyday. It was a Friday night and you were meeting your friends at a pub that they promised had some of the best burgers in the city. When you got there you slide into an empty spot next to Quinn, saying a round of hellos to everyone who was already there. Quinn had made you feel especially comfortable from the moment you met him. He seemed to go out of his way to make sure you were included in conversations, always saving you a spot next to him at every table you all sat at, always asking questions about your life.
“How was work?” Quinn asks.
Looking up from the menu you give him a little shrug. “Not bad, how was your day? Did you have practice today?”
Quinn nods, leaning back in his chair as if even the thought of it was tiring. “Yeah, wasn’t bad though.
“We should go to karaoke,” Kayla blurts out, drawing everyones attention towards her. “There’s that place right down the street, I haven’t been in so long.”
“I don’t know,” Quinn tells her.
“I’m down,” you reply, taking a sip of your drink. You can see Quinn looking at you from your peripheral vision. Turning to look at him you wait for him to say something but he simply turns his attention back to the table.
“Yeah, okay, I’m in,” Quinn relents.
After a little more discussion it’s decided that you would all go to the karaoke bar after a couple more drinks, everyone needing a little more liquid courage to be able to truly give it their all in karaoke.
Once the bills were dropped off at the table you pull your wallet out, glancing down at it before it gets whisked from your line of vision.
“I got it,” Quinn whispers, clearly trying not to make a big deal of it.
Reaching over you try to take the bill back from him, shaking your head. “Why? You bought my dinner the other day.”
“Because I want to.” Quinn places the bill in his other hand with his own bill. “I’m just being nice.”
“Be nice to someone else,” you giggle, glancing around the table, not remembering Quinn paying for anyone else’s bills before.
“They’ve all had years of me being nice to them. I’m still trying to win you over,” Quinn jokes.
“Well you’ve already won me over, but thank you.” When you look away from Quinn you catch Kayla looking at you with a look that seemed to be trying to tell you something but you weren’t sure what that was.
After everyone’s bills have been paid you all make your way down the street to the karaoke bar. You order more drinks and watch Kayla give a very energetic performance of Since U Been Gone followed by a uniquely bad rendition of All Star from Ethan.
You were working on your second vodka soda since getting there when Quinn leans over towards you. “You agreed to come here and you’re not even going to sing?”
Giggling you look over at him, shaking your head. “I don’t think so. I’d definitely need another drink to get up there.”
“What do you want?” Quinn asks with a mischievous smirk.
“A tequila shot.” You really thought it was a joke, not expecting Quinn to buy you a tequila shot just minutes later, but you weren’t going to turn it down either. After the shot you convince Kayla to come up with you for a performance of Build Me Up Buttercup, a song that had never once failed to brighten your mood.
Thank God for the tequila shot, all your inhibitions lowered significantly. Halfway through the song you notice Quinn watching you so intently and your cheeks warm a little. You and Kayla finish up your performance before returning to your seats, Kayla immediately on the hunt for the next victim she would force to get up for a song.
“Not bad,” Quinn comments as you return to your seat beside him.
“Not bad?” You scoff, looking at him with fake offence. “You actually seemed pretty captivated by my performance.”
You watch Quinn glance down at the ground, clearing his throat before glancing back at you. “Yeah, guess it was pretty good.”
Leaning over you playfully nudge his shoulder with yours. “You’re very tense tonight.”
“I’m not,” Quinn says quickly, his voice carrying a defensive tone. “Just not super into karaoke, I guess.”
Nodding you decide to let it go though you weren’t entirely certain that there wasn’t something else going on. “Okay,” you mutter, taking another large gulp of your drink.
By the time you were all getting ready to head home you were a little more intoxicated than you had anticipated getting that night.
“Do you need a ride home?” Quinn asks you while you were all walking back to the parking lot next to the pub the night had started at. He hadn’t been drinking that night and it was only in that moment that you started to feel the self conscious feeling of being the drunk one around sober people.
“If you don’t mind,” you reply sheepishly, looking up at him as you’re trying to continue walking in a straight line.
Quinn reaches out, placing his hand on your waist and tugging you sideways with a chuckle. Looking forward you notice the fire hydrant you were rapidly approaching. “Not at all,” Quinn tells you. “I don’t know if you’d make it home on your own,” he teases.
“I would,” you exclaim. “I’m a very responsible drunk.”
“Okay, okay, I’m sure you are,” Quinn relents.
As you guys get back to the parking lot beside the pub the discussion of rides and Ubers begins. “Ethan is giving me a ride home, I don’t know who else he’s driving but I’m sure there’s probably room for you too, if you want.”
“Quinn is going to give me a ride,” you tell her, glancing up at him quickly, as if to check that he wasn’t going to change his mind.
“You live in completely different directions, our place is on Ethan’s way anyway.”
“I don’t mind,” Quinn chimes in, hands shoved in his pockets as he shrugs casually.
Kayla rolls her eyes playfully. “Of course you don’t.”
You weren’t sure what that was supposed to mean and for some reason the tension those words instil make you uncertain if you should say anything. So you don’t, letting it slide. After saying goodbye to everyone Quinn leads you to where he was parked and you slide into the passengers seat, immediately noticing how nice it was. Sure, you knew it was nice simply from the outside, but you hadn’t fully grasped just how nice.
“I don’t feel bad about you paying for my dinner anymore,” you joke as Quinn gets into the car, pulling his seatbelt on.
“You shouldn’t anyway,” Quinn tells you, chuckling quietly as you continue to look around the car like it was one of the 7 wonders of the world.
“You know how to get there?”
Quinn laughs a little more at that, pulling out of the parking lot. “Yeah, we met there.”
“Oh yeah,” you giggle, remembering the dinner party at Kayla’s apartment directly across from yours. It’s not a long drive from the pub to your apartment and when you get there a part of you doesn’t want to get out and go up to to your apartment alone. “Do you want to come in for a bit?”
Quinn looks over at you, not saying anything for a few seconds, like he was making a much more difficult decision than what you would have expected from your question. “Yeah, sure,” he finally answers, pulling into one of the visitor’s spots.
The two of you head up to your apartment and when you step inside you realize that Quinn had never actually been to your place before. Looking over your shoulder you watch Quinn glance around the room, taking everything in. “Does it get your approval?”
Quinn laughs and nods, following you towards the living room. “It’s very…you.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” It sounded like the kind of thing you tell someone when you don’t want to offend them by saying you hated it.
“It just suits you,” Quinn says with a shrug. “I like it, it’s not a bad thing.”
“Oh,” you say, reeling back how defensive you had gotten. Flopping down onto your couch you put on some music before looking back over at Quinn. “I feel like I haven’t said thank you enough.”
Quinn follows your lead, sitting on the opposite end of the couch. “For dinner? I’m pretty sure you have.”
Shaking your head you stare down at the middle couch cushion separating you from Quinn. “No, for everything,” you say with a shrug. “I just…when I moved here it was really lonely and I thought I had made a mistake, I was considering going home. But then Kayla introduced me to you guys and everything started to feel…okay.” You were blinking quickly, trying to keep the tears that were blurring your vision from slipping onto your cheeks, but no matter how quick you were blinking you weren’t able to succeed. “Fuck, sorry, now I’m drunk crying to you, this is so embarrassing,” you say with a quiet laugh, wiping away your tears.
Quinn moves down the couch to sit beside you, looking hesitant as he wraps his arm around your shoulders, pulling you into him. “Don’t apologize, it’s not embarrassing.”
“You’re just saying that to be nice,” you whisper, resting your head on his shoulder. “But thank you.”
“I’m always going to be here for you,” Quinn replies, a moment of silence falling between the two of you before he adds what sounded like an afterthought. “We all are.”
Lifting your head from his shoulder you look into his eyes and you can feel Quinn shift, a nervous energy filling the room. “Do you, um, do you want to watch a movie or something?”
“Yeah, sure.”
After picking out a movie you curl up into the corner of the couch, resting your head on one of the many decorative pillows you had bought when you got there. Your apartment was decorated incredibly well and as much as you enjoyed it you also knew that it was the product of trying to make yourself enjoy your evenings alone in the apartment a little more.
At some point during the movie you stop being able to keep your eyes open, with each blink your eyes were heavier and heavier, harder and harder to open them again. You’re brought back into reality by Quinn quietly saying your name. “Hmm?” You hum, sitting up slightly to look over at him, realizing you had fully fallen asleep. “Sorry, I didn’t realize how tired I was. I should have just let you go home earlier.”
Quinn chuckles, shaking his head. “You weren’t forcing me to stay here, I wanted to be here.”
“Okay,” you mumble, still feeling guilty for falling asleep with him there. “Are you heading home?”
“Yeah, I think so,” Quinn says, standing up from the couch and grabbing his keys and wallet.
“Well thank you for hanging out, even though I was a terrible host.” You follow him towards the door, still feeling a sleepy haze clouding your thoughts. Before Quinn has the chance to open the door you wrap your arms around him. He responds quickly and does the same, pulling you into his body. For the first time you realize how long it had been since you had even just hugged someone like this. You weren’t exactly wanting to pull back, but you do anyway, looking up at him with a tired smile. “Text me when you get home, okay?”
Quinn nods, his eyes lingering on you for a couple seconds looking contemplative before he turns around to head out of your apartment. Once he was gone you lean against the wall in the hallway, staring a little hole in the wall that you had made the day after you moved in, trying to maneuver the couch you ordered into the apartment yourself. Sighing you glance over to your door, as if Quinn might for some reason be coming back, and if you were honest with yourself, you think you might be more than happy if he did. There was something about him, something that put you at ease, made you feel safe and comfortable. It felt different from your other friendships, not that you didn’t feel safe with them, with Quinn it was just different.
Eventually you pull yourself away from the wall, going about your typical nightly routine before settling into bed for the night. You’re awakened the next morning by a knock on your front door, groaning in annoyance as you stumble through your apartment half asleep and a little hungover.
“Hi?” You say, looking over at Kayla when you pull the door open.
“Do you want to go for a run with me?”
“Not particularly, I haven’t recovered from last night.”
“Speaking of that,” Kayla says with a mischievous grin. “What did you and Quinn get up to? Saw his car in visitor’s parking when I got back last night.”
Shrugging you shake your head. “Not a lot, tried to watch a movie and then I fell asleep.”
“So you guys didn’t…”
You stare at Kayla, waiting for her to finish her sentence before realizing what she was asking. “Hook up? No,” you exclaim, shaking your head. “Why would you think that?”
“Well,” Kayla hums, shrugging. “You know, just…I thought it might happen.”
“Why? Do you think I’m into him, because I’m not.” Your voice is defensive and your words might be lies, but you didn’t want all your new friends thinking you had feelings for Quinn so you would rather stop that rumour as soon as possible.
Kayla sighs loudly, looking around as if someone might be creeping around to listen in on the conversation. “It’s not you,” she whispers, looking shifty as she lets out another sigh. “Quinn is, like he’s really into you. I’ve never seen him so infatuated with someone before.”
You have no response to that, your heart hammering so heavily you feel like you can hear it in your ears. “What?” Is all you manage to croak out.
“You can’t tell him I told you though, he didn’t even tell me, I was pretty sure he was into you just watching him with you but he told Ethan and Ethan told me, but I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone else. I just thought that maybe you should know.”
“Oh, okay,” you stammer, nodding nervously. “I, uh, thanks for telling me, I guess.”
“Just, can you also maybe try not to talk about other guys around him or anything like that, I’m sure he’ll get over it but for now if you could maybe-.”
“Yeah, of course,” you interrupt, nodding. You had no intentions of talking to Quinn about other guys, primarily because you hadn’t met a single person to tell him about other than himself, but there were no intentions of having that conversation. “Have a good run, I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
Kayla nods, making you swear again that you wouldn’t tell anyone what she had told you before disappearing down the hallway. Closing the door you let out a loud breath, your mind racing at a million miles an hour. Was that why things always felt different with Quinn? The only thing that you were certain about was that if Kayla was right then the feelings might not be one-sided.
You wait till that afternoon before texting Quinn, sitting on the couch changing the message about ten times before sending it. ‘Hey, would you want to go for dinner some night this week?’
He answers pretty quickly, evidently not spending an agonizing amount of time re-writing his message. ‘Sure we have a couple road games this week but would Thursday be good with everyone?’
You stare at the message with a sinking feeling. Everyone. This attempt to ask him on a date hadn’t gone how you had hoped, even after the half an hour it took to ask him. ‘I was thinking maybe it could just be us’
This time you watch the typing bubble appear and disappear enough times to know he was also uncertain about what to say. ‘Yeah, sounds good. Does Thursday work for you then?’
‘Yeah, Thursday is perfect’ You breathe out a sigh of relief that he didn’t seem to find your request strange, although you were pretty sure you also had missed the mark on making him know it was a date.
You rush home from work that Thursday, faster than you ever had before, knowing Quinn was going to be picking you up in a few short hours. You weren’t sure why your stomach was tied in knots, it’s not like it had even been established that this was a date. Getting ready takes less time than you had anticipated, the rest of the hour was spent shifting from the couch to the kitchen to the patio, anywhere really, not stay still.
‘I’m here, do you want me to come up?’
The text sends makes your heart pound and your palms begin to sweat and you’re not sure if it’s from excitement or nerves but you ignore it either way and reply to his text. ‘No, it’s okay, I’ll be down in a minute’
You yank on shoes and grab your purse, almost forgetting to lock your door on the way out. In the elevator you lean against the shiny silver wall, tipping your head back and taking a deep breath. It was just Quinn. But you’re just as nervous when you get into his car as you were in the elevator. “Hey,” you say sheepishly.
“Hey,” Quinn replies with an easy smile. “You look nice.”
“You do too,” you tell him, pulling your seatbelt on and entirely missing the wave of uncertainty that washes over Quinn’s face after your comment.
“Oh, uh, thanks,” Quinn mutters, putting the car in drive and heading towards the restaurant you had suggested. “How was work today?”
“It was fine, I guess, pretty much the same as every other day.”
Quinn turns his head to look at you when he stops at a red light. “You like it though, don’t you? Like, you’re not planning to leave?”
“No, I mean, yeah, I like it,” you stammer.  “Why? Are you scared I’m going to move away?”
Quinn shrugs, chuckling quietly as the two of you continue towards the restaurant. “I don’t know, maybe a little.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” you tell him, watching him for a couple seconds before looking back out the window.
You get to the restaurant shortly after and it seems that with every step closer to the table your anxiety was rising higher and higher. Quinn seemed entirely at ease and you wanted to scream at him that this was supposed to be a date, that you were just too nervous and awkward to have clarified that before. But no matter how easy it would be to just tell him, you couldn’t do it. Because what if you told him and he told you he didn’t want it to be a date? You weren’t sure you could handle sitting through a dinner after that.
“You okay?”
You tip your head up from where you were hyper-fixated on the menu in front of you. “Y-yeah, why?”
Quinn shrugs, eyebrows furrowed. “You just seem, I don’t know, uncomfortable or something.”
“No, I’m fine.” You could tell your voice sounded defensive and you wish you could take it back and try to sound at least a little convincing. “Do you know what you’re getting?”
“We’ve been here for five minutes, I’ve barely looked at the menu,” Quinn chuckles. “But I think you need a drink,” he jokes.
“Yeah, I think you’re right,” you giggle, glancing over as your server approaches your table. You order a glass of wine, hoping it would get to your table as quick as your server had been there to take your order. Thankfully it’s only a couple minutes before you’re sipping on a glass of pinot noir, trying not too seem too desperate to get it into your system. “Congratulations on your win yesterday, I forgot to tell you that earlier,” you say, leaning back in your chair and hoping to seem natural.
“Oh, thanks,” Quinn replies, seeming to be taken aback by the comment. “I didn’t really think you actually paid attention to that.”
Your head tips to the side slightly, eyes narrowing. “Why would you think that? I watch most of your games.”
“Really?”
Laughing softly in response to his surprise you give him a nod. “Of course, why wouldn’t it?”
“I didn’t think you cared about hockey.”
“I care about you,” you state, immediately wishing you had phrased that differently. It wasn’t that the statement wasn’t true, but the way it made your cheeks flush made you want to take it back. “And hockey is a big part of your life, so of course I’m going to care,” you add, hoping to soften the blow of the first statement.
Quinn is silent, looking down to the table then back to you then out the window you were sitting next to and then back to you. “I care about you too,” he blurts out.
You couldn’t help but giggle at his response. Perhaps he wasn’t as relaxed about this as he seemed. “I’m happy to hear that.”
“I’m getting the steak,” Quinn says, switching the subject quickly. “Do you know what you’re getting?”
“No,” you tell him, taking another sip of your wine as you gaze down at the menu.
Quinn chuckles, shaking his head. “So why’d you ask me if I knew the second we sat down?”
You turn your attention back to him, rolling your eyes playfully. “Because you’re making me nervous.”
“How am I making you nervous?” Quinn laughs, the tension that had been building since you got in his car seemingly fading away.
You bite down on your bottom lip, groaning quietly as you try to figure out what direction to take this. “Because I’m at dinner with a handsome man, why wouldn’t I be nervous?” You add a breath of laughter after, hoping to ease some of the anxiety you felt after saying that.
Quinn clears his throat nervously. “I think I’m the one who should be nervous then.”
“And you’re not?”
“Oh, I am,” Quinn breathes out followed by a chuckle that’s tinged with an energy that makes it obvious he wasn’t lying.
“Glad it’s mutual,” you tease, looking back down at your menu. “I’m getting the chicken caesar salad,” you inform him a minute later.
The rest of the dinner goes by about as well as that moment. You were able to relax a bit more after another glass of wine and a shift of conversation to lighter topics. Of course when the bill comes Quinn swoops in and you can’t tell if him paying for things for you was really ever just a friendly gesture or more than that.
You leave the restaurant and you’re only a few feet down the road when you grab Quinn’s hand. He comes to a halt, turning around with his eyebrows furrowed. “What’s up?”
You let go of his hand, taking a deep breath as you glance around, scared that if you looked into his eyes too long you would back out. “Okay, um,” you hum, taking another breath. “Tonight…this dinner, I was, I thought,” you stammer, shaking your head and letting a nervous laugh leave your lips. “I-,” you begin again before tapering off, it was as if your brain couldn’t figure out the words to explain what was going on. Shuffling closer you bring your hands to either side of his face just before leaning in and pressing your lips to his in a gentle kiss before quickly pulling back.
“Oh,” Quinn mutters, eyes wide. “Oh, shit,” he adds a second later. “This was supposed to be…”
“A date,” you whisper, nervously fidgeting with a ring on your finger.
“I’m sorry-,”
Before Quinn can say anything else you shake your head. “Don’t be sorry, I thought you felt the same way but it’s okay.”
“What?” Quinn mumbles. “No, that’s not what I was saying. I do, I do have feelings for you. I just…I’m sorry I was such an idiot and didn’t realize what was going on.”
You wish you could hide the stupid smile that spreads on your lips but you can’t seem to contain it. “You’re not an idiot, I was just too scared to actually actually ask you, to say that it was a date.”
“Well I had fun on our first date,” Quinn laughs, shaking his head as if still in disbelief that he hadn’t figured it out.
“Me too,” you agree, reaching over and taking his hand before continuing on your way back to his car, a sudden ease to your interactions. “Do you want to come over to my place?”
“I don’t have sex on the first date,” Quinn jokes, surprisingly at ease.
“I doubt that,” you tease. “But I don’t either, I want you to sit on the couch while I fall asleep again.”
Quinn stops just beside his car, tugging you closer to him. Leaning back in he presses his lips to yours, this time the kiss has more intention, it lasts longer than a fleeting second and it fills your stomach with butterflies. “Only if I get to pick the movie this time,” he whispers.
“Deal.”
It was nearing a month since you went on your first date with Quinn and you had already been on many more. He had suggested that you make the relationship official about as easily as you had informed him that your first dinner was supposed to be a date. But of course you agreed, having no interest in being with anyone other than Quinn. More and more often Quinn was spending nights at your apartment. Despite your relationship growing you had yet to tell anyone about it. Originally it was because you wanted to explore the relationship and see if it was going anywhere before telling any of your friends, not wanting to complicate things if it didn’t work out.
Quinn had been out of town for a few days and you hated to admit how much you missed him already. But even through your texts he seemed to be able to read you, your phone ringing with the familiar FaceTime ringtone. “Hi,” you say after answering it, already tucked into bed for the night.
“You look cozy,” Quinn comments, also already in bed though he doesn’t seem as close to calling it a night as you were.
“I am,” you hum, giggling. “I watched your game tonight.”
“Oh…that sucks,” Quinn laughs.
You roll your eyes in response, having had this exact conversation almost every time they lost a game. “You know it doesn’t.”
“I like that you watch my games,” Quinn admits, looking sheepish as he says it.
“You’re cute,” you giggle, sitting up in your bed as you begin to feel yourself getting more and more tired. “What time are you getting back tomorrow?”
“Early, I think. We’re still going out to trivia with everyone tomorrow night?”
“Yeah.” You cover your mouth to try to hide your yawn but the little smirk on Quinn’s face tells you that it hadn’t gone unnoticed.
“Are you going to fall asleep on me again?”
“No, I’m not,” you whine, laughing quietly.
“Hey, um, I don’t know if this is the right time to bring this up, but…” Quinn begins before trailing off.
“What’s up?” You ask, voice soft as your heart begins to race, worried about what could possibly be making him seem so nervous.
“I was thinking, maybe, we could tell people about us? Like, our friends, I mean.”
You let out a breath of relief, your heart rate slowing down. “Yeah, of course we can.”
“Okay.” Quinn’s voice is filled with an equal amount of relief and he’s smiling back at you like you just gave him the greatest news he’s heard all year.
Glancing at the time you let out a quiet sigh. “I really should go though, busy day at work tomorrow.”
“Have a good sleep, I’ll text you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight Quinn,” you say before ending the FaceTime, falling asleep shortly after with a feeling of contentment.
You knew it was going to be a busy day at work but you hadn’t realized just how busy. You barely had time for even a coffee break and it was already nearing the end of the day and your to-do list still had a few items. You look up at the time in the corner of your computer, groaning as you pick up your phone to text Quinn. ‘I have to stay late, I’ll meet you at trivia’
‘Are you sure? I can wait and pick you up’
‘It’s okay, no point in you not being there the whole time just because I can’t’
‘Okay, I’ll see you there then’
Setting your phone down you get right back to work, trying to get through it as quickly as possible. By the time you’re done you’re already twenty minutes late and it’s another fifteen before you get to the pub, heading inside and quickly finding your group sitting in a booth at the back of the pub.
“There she is,” Kayla cheers as you approach the table. “Just in time, trivia is about to start and we can’t do this without you.”
“I made it, everyone can relax,” you joke, laughing softly. As you get closer Quinn slides out of the booth, waiting for you to get closer before pulling you into a hug. “I missed you,” you whisper into his ear as you hug him back.
“I missed you too,” he replies, not nearly as quietly as you. So he really was serious about letting everyone in on the news right away. As you pull back you look up into his eyes, hesitating for a second before leaning in to kiss him. He kisses you back as you hear mutters at the table. “That’s one way to tell them,” Quinn chuckles as he pulls back, letting you slide into the booth before you.
“What the fuck?” Mia exclaims, eyes wide as they jolt back and forth between you and Quinn. “When did this happen and why didn’t I know about it?”
You feel Quinn’s hand fumble around under the table till he finds yours, slipping his fingers between yours. “Like a month ago,” you admit.
“A month? Like you two have been together for a month and we didn’t know?”
“Yeah, sorta, I guess,” you stammer. “We went on a date a month ago and then didn’t want to say anything till we figured out if we even liked each other,” you joke.
Quinn chuckles, shaking his head. “You needed to figure out if you even like me, I already knew.”
“Did you know?” Mia asks Kayla, her voice still filled with shock.
“Yes, but not because they told me,” Kayla admits, looking over at you with a knowing smile. “Platonic friends don’t spend nearly as many nights together as they’ve been,” she explains to Mia before turning her attention to you. “Kind of upset with you two for not telling me and thinking I would be stupid enough not to put it together when Quinn’s car is in our visitor parking half the days he’s in town.”
“I’m actually very surprised you managed to keep it a secret for so long, I know you’re not great at that.”
“Hey,” Kayla exclaims, raising her hands in defence. “If I was any better at keeping secrets you two wouldn’t be together.”
“What?” Quinn chimes in, eyes narrowed. “What does that mean?”
You look to Kayla and she looks to you, giving a little shrug to say it was up to you if you wanted to explain it or not. “Well I didn’t just get the courage to ask you on a date out of nowhere.”
Quinn looks to Kayla, putting the pieces together in his head. “I mean, you didn’t actually get the courage to ask me on a date, you asked me to go for dinner and then just kissed me after,” he teases.
“Whatever,” you giggle, rolling your eyes. “Wouldn’t have needed to be so complicated if you had just asked me out before that.”
“Okay, I think you two are very cute together but I’m going to throw up if you don’t stop flirting,” Mia jokes.
“Sorry,” you laugh. “No flirting at trivia.”
“Absolutely none, we’re here to win,” Kayla chimes in just as the host begins his introductions for the night. As he explains the rules you can’t help but look over at Quinn, smiling happily up at him. And suddenly you realize just how right your decision to move to Vancouver truly was.

NSFW UNDER THE CUT (18+ ONLY) MINORS DNI
your self-control was losing its composure.
you mentally slapped your brain for being such a menace for being turned on by his veiny hands and everytime he flexes his biceps. what’s even worse is that he decided to wear a tight black shirt, making his upper body more detailed. you can clearly see his chest through it, which is why it’s one of your favorites on him.
you and matthew went on an park date, it had different stalls of food and other stuff. although you were having a good time trying new food and buying random trinkets, you’re distracted and you keep glancing on your boyfriend, making you feel more lost in the thought of him fucking your insides because of how attractive he is today.
after quite some time, you and matthew decided to sit on a bench for a while to rest a bit from walking.
perfect timing.
you leaned on his shoulder and he leans back, putting his head over yours. you (innocently) put your hand against his thigh, drawing small little circles in it. “you seem a bit down today, you okay? you didn’t really have to agree to go here if you wanted to stay home,” matthew assures you in a soft tone. you love this side of him but you badly want the other side of him instead.
“‘m good baby, i had a good time here... it’s just i have a little problem…”
“oh no.. what is it?” he asks innocently, as you move your hands up his thigh, rubbing his crotch lightly.
“mmm, want you cock in me right now…” you whimpered in his ear, continuing to touch his jean-clothed cock, as you attempt on trying to flip his switch. “p-please, been wanting it since we got here… been a good girl too..”
he chuckles as a response, making him clench his jaw. he grabs both of your thighs, putting it over his thigh, running his fingertips up and down. he tilts his head down to whisper, “here at the park? baby wants to be risky, hm?” you nodded eagerly, biting your lip.
“i’ll give you risky, you naughty girl.”
you both stood up the bench, matthew grabbing your wrist, leading you to a secluded area with full of trees. both of your tracks stopped at a humungous tree, enough to cover both of you away from people.
both of you scanned the area to look if there would be people around. when the coast was clear, matthew grabs your waist, pulling you into a steamy kiss. he grabs one of your breasts, massaging it through his palm. tongues swirling at each other, breathlessly pulling out afterwards.
he turns you around, facing the tree, as he pulls you closer to him, feeling his hardness down there. as he plants kisses on your neck, both of his hands went underneath your top, as he flicks both of your tits with the tip of his fingers teasingly, instantly hardening in just one touch. the tingly feeling traveled down your pussy, making you more aroused and wet all over your panties.
“mhm, fuck… please,” you whined as you readjusted your position, sticking your lower body more on to him as you put you arms and hands on to the tree to maintain your balance. you stick out your ass even more to grind on his hardening dick. the friction between his dick and your pussy made you clench in and out.
matthew had the perfect view and access to your pussy, as you were wearing a skirt and panties, with side ties. a wet patch already formed all over your panties, he then teases you by rubbing his thumb all over you clothed clit. “m-matt… please, can’t take it anymore… n-ngh…”
“you planned to wear this, didn’t you?”
“i-i really wore it for you just in case,”
“well, if that’s the case..” he hikes up your skirt even more, he unties both sides of your panties and an enormous amount of your accumulated wetness welcomed his sight.
“now be quiet and be a good fuckdoll for me,” matthew whispers behind your ear, as he stuffs the panties you wore in your mouth to keep your whiny little mouth shut.
he pushed down his pants and his boxers halfway, pulling out his hardening cock. he teases your slit, feeling your wetness all over. his cock goes over your clit, rubbing his tip aggressively over it, producing absurb wet noises.
“shit, you really kept it in…” matthew slides his fingers on your slit to gather some of your wetness on his fingers as he rubs your clit agressively with ease.
“h-hng…!” you squirmed helplessly, closing your thighs and eyes rolling back from the pleasure, “such a noisy slut… you wanted to be in this situation but you can’t be quiet.” he stops rubbing your sensitive clit, replacing it with a slap. the overwhelming feeling made you jump a bit in your position and hold on more to the tree for stability as you were almost losing it.
matthew pries open your pussy as he starts to put his cock inside slowly. you had to shut your eyes close and you had to bite down the panties that were balled up in your mouth to keep yourself from squirming so loudly from the pleasure.
because of how wet your pussy is, matthew instantly slides himself inside without a warning. you were taken aback by how deep he instantly went, quietly whining from the sudden feeling. “fuck, you’re so wet.. my cock went in just like that…”
he thrusts in slowly to adjust in a little bit, letting himself lost into the warm, tight feeling of your pussy. he pulls you back, grabbing you by the neck. “such a perfect little hole just for me to fuck…”
you whined from his words, as you bounced yourself in his cock even faster, “ah, you want me to go faster?” you nodded eagerly, he then shoved his cock even deeper. you let out a muffled groan, you swore that your eyes rolled back so much from resisting your composure.
matthew’s thrusts were even faster, as the skin slapping became more prominent. “s-shit, you feel so good baby…” moaning in your ear as the grip on your waist tightens.
tears started to form in your eyes as your walls keep clenching from the overwhelming lust slowly taking over your whole body.
“so tight, keep clenching just like that…” he groans near your ear. he starts rubbing your clit aggressively making you clench even more on to his dick, “h-hmf!! n-no!” you moaned over the panties, throwing your head on to his shoulder as tears were trickling down your face.
he quickly covers your mouth, his eyes darkening from your sudden action. he stops rubbing your clit and he slaps it instead, making your thighs quiver. “keep making noises or i’ll never let you cum. understood?”
even if you want to moan so bad, you had no choice but to follow him. you nodded, and after that, pace was even faster than before. what’s worse is that he was hitting the same spot repeatedly, and you had no choice but to let out soft mewls and cries from all the pleasure.
“fuck, such a pretty cumslut crying over my cock… you’re almost there?” he whispers in your ear, sending shivers down your spine as the pleasure’s almost taking over your body.
you nodded, as he thrusts in to you in an inhumane speed. he lets go of your mouth as he grips both sides of your waist as if his life depends on it. his strength took over him that your feet starts to lift off the ground, making you arms lean on to the tree, carrying you like a ragged doll, thrusting his cock in and out of you like there’s no tomorrow. he throws his head back, sending himself over the edge, an indication of an orgasm nearing. “i-i’m cumming princess… u-ugh…”
you mewled from the immense amount of pleasure that you’re feeling as the tight coil in your stomach was about to burst. you gave up from keeping your noises in, quietly whining out of desperation as your pussy clenched his dick so tightly from the fast pace. your mind was in a haze, you were completely losing yourself as your orgasm is approaching.
“f-fuck…!” shots of warm liquid went in to your cunt, also you cumming at the same time. you cry out of pleasure from all the overstimulation and the warm feeling, your pussy never felt this thrilled and full. he pulls out his dick away from you, his cum, mixed with your own, trickling away from your pussy.
he pulls back his pants quickly, and he notices a continuous stream of cum coming out, he then gathers up all the cum that been flowing out using his fingers.
“keep it in, you cumslut.. or i won’t fuck your pussy even more once we get home,” you nodded aggressively, mewling while he fingers back both of your releases that’s been dripping down your thighs.
“good girl. now, i’ll have this, baby. you wouldn’t wanna wear this anymore since it’s wet, right?” he fishes out the panties off your mouth, he then folds it up, stuffing the wet underwear in his pocket.
“w-what…?! how am i–“
“since you want your filthy little cunt to be fucked so bad, you walk without your soaked little panties.” his sentence leaving you dumbfounded.
“b-but there’s a lot of people…”
“well, that’s the point of your punishment, doll. to let everyone know how much of an impatient cumslut you are,”
“now walk.”
you had no choice but to walk without your panties. you had to clench in your pussy as much as you can to prevent his cum from leaking out.
the 5 minute walk to the parking space felt like torture to you.
it was difficult to hold it in because your thighs and legs felt like jelly, and all your remaining strength is giving up on you as you’re using it for trying not to unclench your cum-filled pussy. and everytime his sticky cum starts dripping from your thighs, you try to pull down your skirt, but matthew miserably swats away your hand.
“don’t even try to fucking hide it, you little slut.”

Arm day
changbin x gn!reader
tried to keep it as vauge as possible when it came to description, only specific is that the reader is smaller than Changbin in terms of muscle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•It started with you wanting to get more fit without doing cardio because you hated it, so, so so much. Well, I mean, you didn't hate running or going on a walk but running on a treadmill?? forget it
•You knew you wanted to change something about your body, but you weren't sure what, that's when you remembered, you have a gym rat of a boyfriend.
•Your first plan of action was to observe him, so you went to the gym with him telling him you wanted to see his routine, not entirely true, not a lie either.
•While he was distracted you managed to get yourself a subscription, you had committed, no going back now.
•You would go every day after work, telling him that your hours had changed, you wanted to surprise him, build enough muscle to be able to keep up with his routine so you two could train together, your only problem? you HATED doing arms. more than cardio, ok maybe not more than cardio but still, it was close.
•But still, if you wanted to keep up with your boyfriend you needed to do this, you don't know where this urge to workout came from, but it was welcomed.
•While you were struggling at the gym, your boyfriend was struggling at home, you had told him your work schedule changed, that he understood, but when you came home you were always sweaty, out of breath, didn't want to touch him until you've had a shower, which was weird because you've NEVER refused a welcome home hug from Binni, ever.
•This caused your dramatic boyfriend to draw even more dramatic conclusions. When you came home that day tired out of your mind because not only did your boss give your ×2 the work today, but you also upped the sets in your usual routine, you didn't immediately notice that something was off with Changbin.
•It was only after you showered, dressed in Pajamas, and ate dinner with Binnie in front of the tv did you notice something was off. So, as the caring partner you were, you decided to ask .
•"Everything okay? you're weirdly silent, babe."
•"I don't know why don't you ask your new lover?"
•"what?"
•cue the confusion. After an hour of reassuring him that you in fact were not cheating on him, especially not having sex everyday after work, he decided to ask. "Well then what are you doing?"
•You knew the work excuse wouldn't hold up forever, but you wished it would have lasted longer than this. "Well… remember when I went with you to the gym a few months ago? I kinda wanted to start training, too. But I didn't want to tell you because I wanted to get in shape enough to follow your routine so we could go to the gym together, like a couple activity. With your traveling and my work, we can't have as many dates as we usually would, so I thought this would be fun. I wanted to surprise you, yaknow? You already do so much. I thought you would like this. But now it's ruined :/"
•You didn't look at him while you said it, but after the words left your mouth and you glanced up at him, he was staring at you with his eyes filled with so much adoration and the biggest smile, you were sure his cheeks were going to hurt later.
•Before you could even try and say another word, he grabbed your face and gave you a very long kiss. You had to tap his chest to let him know that 'hey, humans need oxygen dummy'
•"What was that for?" "I just love you so much" "I love you too Bin, but aren't you mad?"
•He was in pure disbelief, why would he be mad, you were actively trying to participate in something that was a big part of his life, you were showing him that you cared. Instead of answering he just pulled you next to him, in a tight hug and wouldn't let you go.
•Once you were in his grip he stopped in his tracks, squeezing you a few times, until he spoke again "If you were building muscle why are you wearing baggy clothes?"
•You stare at him dumbfounded, "I did tell you I wanted to surprise you, It wouldn't be much of a surprise if you saw growing muscle Bin." ok, yeah, that checked out.
•The next day Changbin excitedly jumped up and down in the gym, showing you off to the staff going "LOOK, LOOK, LOOK AT MY PARTNER" you didn't see the need since they already knew you, but let him have his fun nonetheless, he was to cute to stop.
•Sadly today was arms :(, you hated this, or so you thought. Watching Changbin work on his arms, completely forgetting about your own workout you came to a conclusion.
•Maybe arm day wasn't that bad.

Notes: I wrote this while at the gym :) It's cringy and doesn't completely make sense, but because of the reaction to my Jongho drabble, I got the motivation to write something so here is this.

Announcements and Updates
Tumblr media
I already mentioned this with my anniversary comic this morning (I'm glad people seemed to like "it's back on air"), but Dungeons and Daddies the Manga is a whole year old today and I wanted to talk about a couple things!
For starters, thank you to everyone who's been on this journey with me, from those of you who have been here since lesson 1 to those of you who only just discovered lesson 42 yesterday (you probably don't exist because the tags hated lesson 42). Whether you like or reblog every single lesson, you silently read the updates without ever interacting with them, and even if you fell out of the fandom but you read the manga at some point, I appreciate you all so deeply.
I might be making this a bigger deal than it actually is, but Dungeons and Daddies the Manga is a really special project to me. I'm so proud of my growth and I've put a genuinely crazy amount of time and effort into this. There was a time when I was trying to catch up when this was basically a second job. I would come home from work and draw manga pages until I went to sleep, it was all I did, it probably wasn't healthy tbh. People in the discord know, I've gotten crazy efficient at making these, if I don't have anything else going on, I can pump out 2-3 of these a day when new episodes drop. I've never undertaken a project this big before, I'm more the kind of person with a million abandoned first chapters, so to actually still be keeping up with this is huge for me, so I'm hyping this up a little bit.
If anyone has ever thought, "wow, I would love to support cereal financially! They seem to work very hard and would probably really like some money! I would also love some of cereal's cute art to plaster on my belongings," please keep your eyes open, I'll be dropping stickers in near future (Taylor in the trash can will be one of them)! I meant to have them ready for today, but I've never sold anything online before, and I'm kind of stumbling through the process. I'll try to have them up soon! So keep an eye out in the upcoming weeks.
For those of you who only care about Dungeons and Daddies the Manga, you can stop reading here, thank you so much for enjoying my manga this past year! For anyone interested in some personal updates and projects, please keep reading, I've been working on something I'm finally ready to announce.
I've learned a lot from my work on Dungeons and Daddies the Manga. My art has improved a lot, and it's still improving all the time, and I've really come to love making comics. Which is why maybe it won't be so surprising to learn I've decided to start an original webcomic. This webcomic won't interfere with my work on the manga, no need to worry, but as much as I love the manga, and the DnDads community, there's only so much I feel like I get back from it. I've been pouring so much time, energy, and love into Dungeons and Daddies the Manga over the past year, and I'm so proud of my product, but I want to start putting some of all that into something that's actually mine. I've been through a weird past couple of months where I went through some really bad burnout, looked around my life and realized "oh wow, this ALL sucks! I don't like a single thing I have going on here!" So, I quit my job, moved, and while I've been restructuring my life, I started dusting off some of those old abandoned first chapters I mentioned earlier and getting back into original work.
The webcomic is called The Rotting Things, I've teased it a very little bit here and there. It's about a boy with a power that is slowly but surely killing him and a man said to be unable to die trying to maneuver through a world of magic that hates anyone unlucky enough to be able to wield it.
I'm kind of nervous about starting a webcomic, but I've been waiting to be "good enough" to put something out there for a very long time, and I'm trying to come to terms with the fact I'll never be fully happy with my own work and just diving in. It would mean a lot to me if anyone wanted to give it a chance.
An eight page prologue will be dropping next Friday, September 29th, after which pages will start to drop one at a time every Friday. We'll see how I handle the one update a week schedule, it might go up to two pages a week depending on how confident I feel. Just like the manga was, this will be a learning curve for me, but I'm eager to try it out! Please give it a shot!

weird little guy Jay was a little too bright and clever and inventive as a kid, for most people. Ed and Edna loved it, of course, but other kids at his school and other adults he talked to weren't sure what to do with him. from his personality in the pilot, it seems like he's not used to others liking him
it's a common issue for any kid (especially ND kids) with a strong sustained interest in something. using my credentials *gestures to childhood* I will hypothesize what Jay's social life growing up might've looked like:
a curly little mop of auburn hair ran home from the bus stop, waving a messy technical drawing and yelling. Ed lifted up his welding hood, "what's goin' on, Jay?"
"Dad! Dad! I know how to- how to make-" Jay plopped down next to his dad, sending a little puff of dirt into the air, "I know how to make it go smooth! we use ball bearings!"
"kiddo you're exactly right- but first you gotta drop your backpack by the house and tell your Mom about school," Ed went to pull his hood down," and I'm nearly done with this, okay? we can get started right after"
"make sure you look at these," Jay carefully flattened his wide ruled notebook paper with hastily done technical drawings, using some nearby scrap to hold each corner down, "I explained everything here," pointing to a mass of scribbles, "okay?" peering up at his Dad, Jay's curls obstructed more of his vision.
"I promise, kiddo," Ed patted his son's fluffy head, "you worked real hard on them."
beaming, Jay slung his backpack on and ran back to the house bent down partway with both arms extended behind him. kids, Ed shook his head with a smile, always finding ways to do new silly things
~*~
excited shouts were a regular occurrence at the Walker home, Jay frequently came back from school with new insights and ideas to tell them. since his latest project was with Ed, Edna got to talk to Jay about everything else. they switched off so that one of them got to spend hours with their son while the other took care of most of the business and cleaning.
speaking of her son, the trailer door rattled before flinging open, "Mom!" Jay ran over to give her a hug at the kitchen sink, where she was doing dishes.
"hi dear, how was school today?"
"good. I drew for me and dad's project and we did some more multiplying and I'm really good at it" he rattled off more activities as he pulled out his lunchbox and homework for that day.
everything he talked about involved teachers and classwork. Jay only mentioned other kids when they commented on his drawings or played with him at recess, which was not as common as they would've liked. when she and Ed last met with his teacher, she remarked on how bright Jay was and that he loved speaking to all of his teachers- even at recess and during lunch.
he had friends, but most of them didn't talk to him as much at school as they did when they came over. she could tell Jay was trying very hard to not take it personally, but he was just a child.
it wasn't malicious, of course, the other kids weren't trying to be cruel- they wanted to have a lot of friends and Jay wasn't joining the other kids at recess; he found sticks and things to make little cars and catapults. no one could keep up with him and he never cared to race the cars or use the catapults to hit things. he just wanted to make them better and better.
he is so similar her and Ed were as children: bit with the invention bug and always pushing towards making everything better than it was before. except Jay didn't have a close friend to share that with. he asked her once, in between sobs, why everyone else had a best friend except him. it broke her heart, knowing that Jay felt that everyone was friendly with him, but not friends with him.
"Mom, can you help me with math tonight? I need to practice my multiplication tables up to 12"
Jay's request pulled her back to the present. taking a beat, she made sure he wouldn't be able to read the sadness she felt, "of course, dear, I'd love to," smiling, she ruffled his curls and glanced at the kitchen table. all his homework was in a neat stack, he'd emptied out what was left in his lunchbox, and set the tupperware onto the countertop. her son was bouncing up and down on his toes, waiting for her permission to run outside.
Edna bent down, taking Jay's head in her hands and placing a light kiss on his forehead, "good job, dear, and thank you for unpacking everything. make sure you take a glass of water out for your father and come in once the sun goes down, okay?"
"okay!" making a mad dash for the door, Jay suddenly diverted to grab the glass, and then started a more careful walk over to Ed, valiantly trying to not spill a drop.
their precious son would find his people, she was sure of it. and in the meantime, she and Ed would be here for him.

Reasons We Love Top Tanin
Earlier today I posted a breakdown of the scenes in which Top was SA, now I wanna give him some love because Top Tanin is a sweetheart damnit!
Also, what I said in my other post applies here too, we can discuss Top as a character, but blatant and random hate is unnecessary.
With that being said, here’s a list of Top’s best qualities:
1. His confidence! The first thing I loved about Top was how confident he was, you can tell just by the way he walks that he knows he’s the hottest guy in the room. Not to mention how sure he was in his pursuit of Mew, he never let himself get discouraged and always had an air of easy confidence no matter what.
Tumblr media
2. How slow to anger he is, without being a pushover. We’ve seen Top get berated on more than one occasion, and he’s never been shown as angry in most of these confrontations. Besides looking slightly annoyed, he’s usually seen as being calm and sometimes even amused.
3. His quick remarks and comebacks. As I said, Top is no pushover! He’ll let people go on about whatever they feel, but not for too long, and he especially won’t ever let them think they have the upper hand. I love how he gets when people try and behave as though they’re above him, he always knocks them down a few pegs (as he should).
Tumblr media
4. The pride he takes in looking his best. Top is well dressed, well groomed, and he just seems to take the best care of himself. He has a routine that he seems to do religiously, and he always dresses his best which adds to that air of confidence he carries around. Like I said before, he knows he’s the hottest in the room, and that comes from his own knowledge that he takes good care of himself. (I need a Top focused episode so I can watch his everyday routines in detail)
Tumblr media
5. His general idgaf-ness. Top is not the type to get involved in drama, or care about what other people are doing. He’s not a gossip, and he stays in his own business until someone drags him into their own. We don’t see him pay attention to rumors spread by others, most likely because he knows how untrue they can be, but also because he doesn’t care enough to pay attention to it.
6. His willingness to grow and be better. Top is not resistant to change, he can evaluate his life, see what’s not working, and actually do something about it. If he’s wrong, he says he’s wrong without any excuses and holds himself accountable. When his boyfriend explained why he wasn’t comfortable with him doing drugs, he listened and decided to stop asap. He never went back on that, even if maybe he’s been tempted. That just shows that he’s always willing to hear genuine criticism and use it as a way to grow. Anyway I can talk for days about this so let’s move on!
Tumblr media
7. How artistic he is! Top is a very creative guy it’s amazing, he’s constantly shown to be a talented artist. Every time we saw Top with Mew, he was drawing and being the artist boyfriend everyone begs for. I also love the fact that we were able to see him in his element at the hostel, the scenes were brief but they definitely showed how serious Top takes his artistry as far as his career is concerned.
8. How he cares for his significant other. We all know Top is #1 in the boyfriend department, and I don’t think that’s something that’s new! I’m pretty sure that although his past relationship(s) have been brief, he has taken care of them and met whatever needs they have. A good example of this is the fact he learned about how Mew gets his experiences from books and decided to take him on all these new, and creative adventures/dates to help him have real life experiences. He definitely will adjust to his partners needs in other to make sure they’re always fulfilled and happy.
Tumblr media
9. How gentle he is. Top Tanin is a gentle guy okay? He’s definitely someone who would rather use soft touches than rough ones. He rarely raises his voice, he speaks softly but with enough assertiveness to make you listen, and he talks to his boyfriend so sweetly.
Tumblr media
10. Him being a blatant sweetheart! I started this post just to talk about this, Top Tanin is the world’s sweetheart. He’s kind to people he doesn’t know without expecting anything in return. The way he would constantly reassure Mew? Sometimes he’d do it subtlety, other times it was obvious. When he gave Nick that advice about staying away from Boston, look he definitely had no reason for doing that, other than him just being a sweetheart. His active listening, he always gives his full attention even when he may not like what’s being said.
Tumblr media
So what did we learn? Top Tanin is a Sweetheart, with some pretty likeable (cough loveable cough) qualities! These qualities should be appreciated more in my opinion! More people should see how good this guy is! I’m screaming this from the rooftops constantly, let’s all scream it together until Top hears us.

(CW for Suicidal Ideation)
Hinata’s breath was heavy as he landed the final move of their act. The tinny music playing from their speakers went quiet and the audience clapped politely. It was always the same song and dance as the crowd moved on with their day. A few of them tossed some yen their way but otherwise it was time for them to regroup for their next performance. Yuta knelt down by the hat with some coins and bills sticking out of it, counting their earnings thus far.
“Hey aniki! We might be able to eat well tonight! There’s like 3,000 yen in here!” Yuta exclaimed. The idea of a filling dinner made Hinata’s mouth water. Oh what he wouldn’t do for even warm noodles not from a cup.
Hinata turned to grab the iPod from its place on the speaker, choosing the next song to play. He put the phone back and turned the volume up a little more to play over the evening rush. The music started and he and Yuta moved in unison around their little stage, taking in the crowd. There were some regulars that Hinata recognized, the businesswoman who was perpetually tired but always stopped for their performances and a few kids who looked up at them in awe as their parents were trying to usher them away. There were always new faces too, of course people traveled across the country all the time or took new trains or moved cities, but there was something different about the boy with the bright red hair at the back of the crowd. His sky blue eyes pierced straight through to Hinata’s heart and made him stumble when their gaze connected with his own.
“Hey, aniki focus! We’re almost done, don't fail on me now!” Yuta whispered, carefully shielding Hinata from the crowd as he regained his footing. Yuta was always so quick thinking. Hinata got back to his position and finished up the routine, eyes looking for that boy he had spotted earlier. He half hoped the boy would come talk to them afterwards while they were packing up for the evening, but when he finally saw that shock of red hair, it was moving away with the rest of the crowd.
Hinata sighed, disappointed. Maybe that boy would come back someday. There was something about him that drew Hinata in.
Someone bumped his shoulder, drawing him from his thoughts. “Hey, aniki, are you alright? You seem out of it today.” Yuta’s hand rested on his shoulder and Hinata couldn’t help but smile. Wasn’t it supposed to be the other way around, the older brother checking in on the younger one?
“Hey hey everything’s fine Yuta-kun, don’t worry about me. I was just thinking about that delicious dinner you’re treating us too~” He playfully pushed back on Yuta, the red haired blue eyed boy all but forgotten now.
“Hey! It’s technically our money so I’m not treating you to anything!” Yuta scowled but the smile in his voice was obvious to Hinata.
“Hehe, then dinner’s on me! Say ‘thank you aniki!’”
---
It was a week before Hinata saw the red headed boy in their audience again. He had all but slipped his mind, but those striking blue eyes were impossible to forget. Yuta was introducing their next performance which allowed Hinata to take a better look at the older boy who had made his way to the middle of the audience. He was tall and what Hinata could see of his outfit seemed ill-fitting at best, along with a headband holding his hair away from his eyes.
Hinata scrambled to his position as the music queued up and let his instincts take over. Every so often he found himself glancing at the red haired boy, trying to see what he thought of their performance, but his face revealed nothing.
Why was he so focused on this one boy? It’s not like they didn’t have strangers who watched them sometimes, and none of them had caught Hinata’s attention quite like this boy. He really couldn’t be much older than Hinata, maybe 17 at the oldest. Was he an older brother too? The boy’s eyes made contact with Hinata’s and it took everything in him to not look away.
Once again however, Yuta snapped him out of whatever trance he had been in and everything was forgotten.
“Are you really okay aniki? You’ve been out of it a lot recently…” Oh how it pained Hinata to see the concern on Yuta’s face. Nothing was even really wrong per se, but Hinata was distracted nonetheless.
“I’m fine, Yuta-kun. Geez, can’t your older brother have some peace?” His mouth ran faster than his brain and he immediately regretted it. Yuta’s face flipped through several emotions; hurt, confusion, exhaustion. It wasn’t like him to hide things from his brother, so why was he doing it now? “Whatever, let’s get some dinner. My treat~”
“It’s our money!”
---
The boy continued to make appearances at the twins’ performances on the street, becoming something of a regular but disappearing before Hinata could flag him down. Hinata wasn’t even sure what compelled him to want to talk to the older boy, but he wanted to say something. He had even noticed that the boy seemed happier and his clothes fit a little better, not like they were just the first thing he grabbed out of a donation pile.
Finally, after almost a month of trying to say something to the boy, Hinata saw him walk up to their hat on the ground and drop a few coins into it.
“Thank you!” He said, walking up to the boy. “Hope you enjoyed the performance!”
The boy froze as if he wasn’t expecting to be greeted like that. There was a slight flush to his face. “I-it’s nothing, don’t worry about it. You uh…you were great?” The boy seemed unsure of how to reply, though Hinata was happy with the compliment nonetheless. Maybe…
“What brings you here? I mean--agh, sorry! I just mean…I noticed you don’t have a regular schedule?” The words were practically falling out of his mouth and Hinata wasn’t really sure what they were doing. “Like you show up a few days in a row but then go three weeks without stopping by at all!” He was just digging a bigger grave for himself! Great!
“Ah uhm…I’m not from around here.” The boy scratched at the back of his neck. Maybe Hinata should back off.
“O-oh, yeah of course. Duh. Are you visiting family or something?”
“Not quite. I really should get going though. See you…later?”
“Yeah, see you later.”
“Hey Aniki, are you coming or not? The food’s gonna get cold!”
“Coming!”
---
It was almost a month before the boy appeared again. In the time between, Hinata had come up with a million different ideas for what his life was like. Was he a delinquent who skipped school to hang out on the street with gangs (how scary! But he looked strong enough to fit in)? Or was he a runaway from a city far away, somewhere Hinata only dreamed of visiting like Okinawa? Maybe he had a bad relationship with his dad and ran away, a thought that Hinata hated to admit had crossed his mind more than once. Or maybe he just passed through the city on the way to somewhere else. That seemed to be the most likely option, especially if he couldn’t come very often.
When the boy did finally show up again, Hinata had to hold himself back from practically jumping him after the performance. Something looked…different about him though. His eyes seemed more tired? Like he hadn’t been sleeping well. Hinata thought of a fight he had with his dad a few weeks ago that made it hard for him to sleep and thought maybe this boy was the same as him in that regard.
Hinata decided to wave him down after the performance, hat in hand (they had done pretty well! It felt heavier than normal and even without counting everything, they’d probably have enough for breakfast too).
“Hey! You look tired, are you--did you want to get something to eat?” Please say yes please say yes please say yes--
The boy’s mouth opened, then closed, then opened again. Did Hinata mess up? Oh he overstepped and now there really wasn’t any chance of getting to know him. Why was he so interested in talking to the boy anyway? Hinata had been asking himself that for a while now and he still had no answer.
“I…I can’t. I need to go.” The boy turned and ran off before Hinata could ask more. He just kept messing up, didn’t he? Maybe he really was just a burden to Yuta and their dad and the restaurant owner. He shouldn’t have been born and Yuta would’ve been better off--
“Aniki! Sheesh, get your head out of the clouds. How much did we make?” Yuta grabbed the hat out of Hinata’s hand and quickly counted out the coins and bills. “Woah! We could eat a whole five course meal with this…”
“Think with your head a little Yuta-kun. We’ve got breakfast paid for if we don’t blow it all tonight!”
Yuta nodded before handing the hat back to Hinata. “So, my pick tonight?”
---
Hinata signed the note, trying his best to keep the tears from dripping on it and smudging the ink. After his blunder with the red haired boy, he hadn’t shown up to their performances for over two months. Hinata was certain that he had messed up and was too forward. He didn’t even know the kid’s name! Why did he think the two of them could ever be friends?
And on top of all of that, Yuta had become more and more distant from Hinata, as if Hinata just existing was dragging him back from his full potential. Yuta would have been better off as an only child and maybe Hinata deserved this life. Thirteen years living with their father, who had treated them as nothing but monsters, blaming them for their mother’s death and everything bad that had happened since, Hinata had resolved to run away. He’d make his way to the mountains and maybe he’d find someone willing to help him or maybe he’d slip into an endless sleep.
Dear Yuta-kun, the letter had started. I’m sorry that I’m leaving like this, but I know that I’m just a burden to you. I’m sorry for that. I wish I had more to say but I just want you to be happy and maybe father will treat you better without me. I love you.
The other letter, already folded and placed on the table, was much shorter, addressed to his father.
Dear Father, I’m sorry I couldn’t be a better son. Please don’t take this out on Yuta-kun, it was my decision.
The less words he spent on that man, the better. Hinata folded Yuta’s note and placed it on top before quietly exiting through the front door.
---
Everything was cold. Hinata slumped against a tree, head between his knees in a last ditch effort to keep warm. Sleep should come soon and he could painlessly move on, at least that’s what he hoped. He barely registered someone approaching him, but didn’t look up.
“Hey.” The voice was vaguely familiar, but where did he remember it from? A warm hand shook at Hinata’s shoulder.
“‘M fine.” The words were barely a whisper. The other voice grunted before walking away. It was another minute before Hinata felt something drape around his shoulders and a cup shoved in his hand. Whatever was in it was steaming, warming his fingers.
“Drink.” The voice said. And he did, the tea was very, very bitter. That voice…
Hinata looked up, meeting a pair of bright, sky blue eyes. That’s where he recognized the voice from. Did he…live? In the mountains? The boy seemed to recognize him too. He was wearing a headband and what looked like very warm clothes that Hinata wished he had. Hinata finished the tea, trying not to focus on the flavor. It helped at least, in warming him up a bit.
“Why are you here?” The boy finally spoke again. It sounded like he was unsure if he should be mad or concerned, or both, but he offered Hinata another cup of tea, which he accepted if only to warm his fingers up. He pulled the blanket closer around his body.
“I…ran away.” Hinata looked downward, as if admitting this out loud was a cardinal sin. The boy gestured for him to continue. “I guess I just…I was dragging my brother down. I’m not really talented at anything like he is and I’m the reason our dad sees us as monsters. He shouldn’t have to deal with a brother like me.” Hinata wasn’t really sure why he was spilling this so easily. The boy was a good listener though, hanging on every word Hinata spoke. Was he shaking? He’d never admitted this out loud before and it felt oddly freeing to say it to someone.
He waited for a response, anything to chase away the uncomfortable silence Hinata had created with his confession. He really fucked up, didn’t he. He should have just kept that to himself like he always did instead of burdening a stranger like this!
“I…” The boy started, barely audible above Hinata’s racing heartbeat. “I’m glad you’re alive.” He sounded unsure of his words. Was he just trying to be nice? Of course he was, how else do you respond to a kid telling you something like this?
“You don’t have to pretend.”
“I’m not. When I saw you singing and dancing…I think I realized something--” The boy cut himself off, the suddenness of it making Hinata look up. A moment later he heard his brother calling out from the woods behind him.
“Aniki! There you are!” Yuta tackled him to the ground, squeezing Hinata like he might just blow away in the wind if they weren’t careful. “You scared me! I can’t believe you’d do something like that!”
Tears pricked at Hinata’s eyes again. “I’m sorry, Yuta-kun. I’m really sorry.” He buried his face in Yuta’s jacket. His nose started to run, from the cold or the tears he couldn’t tell.
“You aren’t a burden to me. I don’t know what I’d do without you around Aniki!” Yuta pulled back, hands gripping Hinata’s shoulders. “Promise you won’t do something that stupid again.”
Hinata wiped the tears from his eyes, sparing a glance where the boy had been. It was as if he had never been there at all and Hinata had just hallucinated the whole interaction. He looked back at his twin brother. “I promise.”
“Now let's get you home and warmed up. Where’d you get this blanket anyway? It doesn’t look like one of ours.”
“I…” The boy had been real, and he told Hinata he was glad he was alive (even if his explanation was cut short by Hinata’s brother rushing in). “I guess I just found it. There must be people living nearby or something.”
---
The chatter of the night club died down for the night as everyone was getting ready to go home. Hinata’s feet were sore from running around, but it was satisfying to be back in a restaurant like this. It reminded him of his childhood working for the Chinese restaurant with Yuta.
Rinne, the leader of Crazy:B who had wanted to get closer to Hinata, and by extension 2wink, slid a drink down the bar. It looked like a horrible mix of syrups and club soda, but one sip was all it took for Hinata to drink it all down.
“Great job tonight Hina! You’re a real natural at this stuff.” Rinne was washing the other glasses behind the bar now as Hinata finished the rest of his soda.
“Yuta-kun and I used to work in a restaurant so it comes pretty naturally to us!”
“That so?”
“Mhm!” Hinata slid the empty glass back to Rinne, who quickly dumped the ice and washed it before tossing the towel over his shoulder. The entire week they’d been working the club together, there had been something bugging Hinata at the back of his mind. “Hey, Rinne-senpai…did you ever watch our shows?”
“Huh? ‘Course I have, vice prez wants us to work together so I’ve seen a few of ‘em.”
“That’s not what I mean. I mean like…back when Yuta-kun and I did street performances.”
Rinne paused for a moment. “Why’re you askin’?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. You just reminded me of someone who used to watch them.”
“Well I’m sure whoever it was is proud to see you singin’ and dancin’ on stage.” Rinne had come around the bar and stood next to Hinata, ruffling his hair. “Let’s get goin’ or I’m never gonna hear the end of it from Niki-kun.”

Got asked if I had any tips for new artists during my stream today and I figured I'd put them here too:
Draw, seriously, just do it. This is the hardest part and also the most crucial. Just run at it screaming and refuse to back down. You just gotta do it.
Always do your wrist/arm/shoulder stretches before drawing and make sure to take breaks to stretch/re-center yourself if you've been going for a few hours or more! (Here's the stretches I do, and they help with gaming and writing and desk work too, they're just a good idea all around!)
Try to draw less from the wrist and more from the shoulder(move your arm more and your wrist less basically). That and stretches will help you avoid carpal tunnel which is never fun.
Consistency is only something you need to worry about if you're like, working in the industry/doing some types of commissions(like an twitch emote bundle or a comic book). If you're just starting out or only drawing for yourself it literally doesn't matter. Like, I don't think I've ever drawn a character exactly the same way twice, it's fine.
Don't do warm up drawings, do warm up scribbles. Doodles circles and squares and lines and swirls until you feel nice and lose, then start actually drawing.
If you're between 50-90% done with something and you REALLLY start to hate it, keep going. You just gotta power through, cuz chances are it's perfectly fine(or even really good) and your monkey brain is being a jackass coward chugging that impostor syndrome juice.
If you finish and you still hate it put it away until tomorrow or the day after and then look again. Never EVER trust your negative opinions about your art(or anything) if it's after like 8pm.
Re: the above points, as an exampke last night I HATED my new pngtuber model that I'd spent literally all day on. Went to bed and in the morning was like "oh this is good actually". Trust me, tired burnt out you is not a good judge of quality, especially the quality of something you've been staring at for like 4-5 hours.
If, after all that, you still hate it, that's okay too. It's a bummer, but don't try to force yourself to like something just cuz you spent a lot of time on it. Chalk it up to experience and move on to the next thing!
Do everything in your power to not compare yourself to others. It won't get you anywhere. Instead learn to look at other people's art and find what you like about it and try to break it down or do it that way yourself. Dont fully copy/trace ofc, but really think about how something looks and see if you can figure out why you like it and/or how it's done.
OH MY GOD USE REFERENCES. Anyone who says not to use references is talking out of their ass. You think figure drawing classes are bad?? That artists draw from life just for shits and giggles?? No, its because you need to know what shit looks like to draw it!!! USE REFERENCES!!!
Same with youtube tutorials, especially for learning to use digital art programs. Do take everything with a grain of salt ofc(we've all seen the "masculine vs feminine eyes" shit or the trash trend of "I fix my viewer's bad art uwu" ignore that crap) but you can learn all kinds of shit for free on youtube.
If you can feel yourself burning out fucking stop drawing a take a break. Even if you're in the middle of something, or part of you wants to keep drawing. Burn outs suck and it's gonna take a lot longer to get over it if you push yourself until you crash instead of just acknowledging that you're hitting your limit and stopping for a few days. The art will be there when you get back, your health should always come first!
If someone tells you thick line art or anime style or whatever is bad, ignore them. All art is subjective. Draw what you want how you want. Even if it's all thick line art or you stick to sketches or only do anime stuff or chibis or humans or furries or goddamn stick figures just draw literally whatever. If this is just a hobby for you there's no reason to push yourself. Draw what makes you happy, fuck everyone else.
Anyway that's all I've got for now, might add more tomorrow when I'm less tired(and I encourage additions for other artists as I'm self taught and had to learn most of this the hard way and thus I'm sure I've missed stuff) but yeah, just draw my dudes, this is supposed to be fun. You deserve to have fun.

Hello! I loved your first fic, so glad to see so many new writers, including myself.
I really like minchan, so i thought you could maybe write about them. The plot could be something like Minho annoying Chan on purpose (or maybe because he wants to get wrecked) and then getting it.
Chan and Minho are commonly the lers, so it’s very cute to see them attacking eachother.
You can choose which one is the lee and the ler, honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lee!Chan and ler! Minho, but it’s up to you.
Thank you and have an amazing day🙂❤️
Omggg of course! I’ve had this idea in mind for a while! Since you’ve never seen a lee! Chan and ler! Minho, why don’t I do a switch? Thank you for your idea!

~Troublesome Kitty~
Chan and lee know we’re sitting in their dorm because the rest of the boys went out for lunch. Both of them felt being extremely lazy today because why not. The 2 oldest were sitting at opposite ends of the bedroom, the dancer scrolling on his and the leader doing work on his laptop.
The younger eventually became bored. He sat up and glanced around the room choosing what he could do to satisfy his boredom. There wasn’t much to do since none of the other members were here. The wolf did not seem to be bored whatsoever because he was so focused on doing his work, god knows what he’s doing on that computer of his.
Minho was in that that mood to annoy someone; someone like his hyung. Only the leader can tolerate his annoyance, no one else. He leaped off his bed and waddled to the other side of the room to his hyung.
“Hyunggg, I’m boreddddd. There’s nothing to dooo” the cat groaned and he plonked next to him.
“Not my fault you decided to stay home and not go out. Now let me work.” He laughed and rolled his eyes as the cat started to zone out. “Goho and read a book or something! stop being anohohoying.” The vocalist immediately brought his attention to his hyung.
“What did you just call me?” Lee know replied as chan turned his head. “Did you just call me annoying?” he laughed and gave him the death stare.
Chan closed his laptop and put it in the draw beside him “Yeah I did! In fact, you annoy me more then the rest of the boys.” He started to become a bit nervous because he didn’t want to get into a messy situation with the younger.
“Right that’s it, you asked for it!” He leaped onto the wolf’s waist and started to go in for the kill. “This is what you get for calling me annoying.” minho jabbed his hands into his hyungs sides and he started to go hysterical.
“IHIHIHIHIM SOHOHOHORY, PLEHEHEHEASE.” the older shouted as the rabbit would not listen. “I SAHAHAHAID SORRY, NOHOHOW LEHET ME GOHO.” he stopped and gave the wolf a break. He was being a bit dramatic don’t you think? “Jehehezus! You nearly kihihlled me!” usually the wolf gets the rabbit, not the other way round. It was the olders turn now…
Chan helplessly pushed lee know off of him, sat on his legs and pinned his arms above his head. Minho became very nervous
“Wait- please, you don’t need toho dohohoho this! You know how sensitive I ahaham.” he nervously giggled as the older was gazing down at him. “I’m behehehging you!” chan didn’t listen and he started to massage the younger neck and collarbones.
“Your so cute when you laugh! Just do it for me!” The younger blushed and was trying his best to hide his smile so it wouldn’t satisfy the older.
“Stohohop, I’m nohot cute!” The rabbit tried to break free out of the leaders grip but he was too strong. he started to squirm as chan started to move his fingers on his right side.
“Does this tickle?” lee know was doing quite good for the fact he hadn’t laughed yet. Chan started to make his way to his underarm and that’s when he got a bit of a laugh out of him
“Mhmhmhmhmmhhm” he giggled and he could feel the tickliness overcoming his side. That was until he started to attack his left side and underarm… who knew one side was more ticklish than the other?
“NAHAHAHAHAHAH PLEHEHEHEHEASE, NOHOHOHOT THEHEHERE.” The wolf was shocked and laughed along with him. “IHIHIHITS SOHO BAHAD!~” chan accidentally let go of his right arm and lee know drilled his fingers into his rib cage.
“HEHEHEY, NOT FAIHIHIHIR!” the older screamed and he still continued to tickle the sensitive cat. both of them stopped occasionally and were both left laughing to their hearts content.
“You bored now?” Chan laughed as lee know was still gasping for air. “I’m gonna admit, you are really cute when you laugh.” the bunny’s face started to turn red from the compliment.
“I mean…thank you?” chan looks at him confused and laughs
“Why are you sahaying thank you?”~
“What else am I supposed to say? Your half 50?” Minho giggled and the wolf gave him the death stare. The younger fell asleep with his head on his lap and the older smiled with his warm heart. “love you hyung, I wish we could do this more.” he sighed
“We can, and I’d love to.” Chan smiled and dozed off to sleep too.
