[11:49pm] xiao dejun; suggestive content, implied smut, 0.2k words
your nails drummed against the rounded surface of your wine glass, clicking like stilettos as you waited for your boyfriend to return.
"i’ve been waiting,” you told him, after hearing his key click in the lock
“y/n, i’m so sorry, i know i said i’d be home early-”
“shh,” you cut him off.
“i’ll make it up to you,” he promised, continuing despite your hushing.
you approached him slowly, and he could only watch as you got closer. “i know you will.” your fingers grasped his collar in a tight grip, pulling him in towards you. when you spoke again your voice was barely above a whisper but you knew your words would meet his ears with echoing thunder. “do you know the safe word?”
“peaches,” he breathed, his eyes focused in on your lips.
“good boy,” you told him. you pressed a kiss to the corner of his mouth before releasing him, turning and heading towards the bedroom. although you didn’t look back, you knew dejun was trailing behind you like a helpless puppy. already you had him where you wanted him - right in the palm of your hand.

Jealousy
Xiaojun just wants to have all of your attention. He doesn’t want to have to share you with some other guy. His plan for the day was to fill it with so much fun that you wouldn’t have a chance to think about that other guys. Sadly, the rainstorm that came in had other plans.
Part of the long term couples series.
Running down the street with your jacket pulled up over your head you feel the presence of another body behind you as you dodge other people who are scrambling to find cover from the rain. Peeking up from under your jacket you see your destination up ahead and pick up your pace. The person behind you picks up their speed as well and you can hear them grumbling as they chase after you. Flinging yourself at the door you stumble into the lobby and drop your soak jacket down and do a scan of your body. You are soak through and are already creating a puddle on the floor from all the rain.
Turning to the side you see Xiaojun dropping his coat as well. Droplets are falling rapidly from the ends of his hair, his wet clothes clinging to him, and a puddle is forming below him as well. He shakes himself causing more water to fall and to splash onto you. Jumping back to avoid the water you almost slip forgetting about the water covering the floor. Xiaojun reaches out for you steadying you with his hand. Once he’s sure that you have regained your balance, he releases you and heads towards the elevator. Following him you feel a little bad about the mess of water that you have left on the floor but there wasn’t much that you could do about it.
Waiting for the elevator you glance over at Xiaojun. His jaw is clenched his hands balled up into fists. Before you have a chance to say anything to him about his mood the elevator dings and he moves inside with you following behind him. The doors close and the two of you stand next to one another in silence. Goosebumps start to rise on your skin, and you don’t think twice about moving into Xiaojun’s space for warmth. He wraps his arm around you and rubs his arm up and down your side quickly, trying to warm you up.
“So much for it being a sunny day,” you mock thinking back to what the forecast was predicted to be today. It was supposed to be a warm fall day. Instead, the two of you along with every other person out got caught in a rainstorm.
“Tell me about it. My plans for the two of us are ruined.” Xiaojun’s voice is clipped, and you know that he is upset about having to cancel your plans for the day. But this time he seems more upset than he normally would be, and you are trying to understand why he is so upset about having to change your plans.
“It’s no big deal. As long as I get to spend time with my bestie, I’m happy,” you cheerfully sing trying to lift his spirits but all it seems to do is make the scowl on his face deepen. Frowning you lean more into Xiaojun and give his waist a squeeze.
“Please don’t be upset. I don’t want our day together to be filled with you being moody. We haven’t seen each other in weeks, and we should be having fun together.”
The elevator dings and the two of you look towards the opening doors. Xiaojun doesn’t say anything, but he does tuck you in closer to him and pulls you forward with him. He knows that he shouldn’t be upset about having to cancel your plans, that getting to spend time with you at all is better than no time spent together at all. But he had plans for today, today he wanted to fill the day with endless fun so that you would completely forget about the guy you were seeing, and he wouldn’t have to hear about him once. That he wouldn’t have to worry about you pulling out your phone to text him or take a call from him. He wanted you completely focused on him and what the two of you were doing. Now he wasn’t sure how he was going to keep your attention completely on him when he was confined to his apartment.
“I just wanted today to be perfect, and the rain has ruined everything that I’ve had planned for today,” Xiaojun tells you has he punches in the code for his apartment a little more forcefully than is necessary.
Walking in with Xiaojun you allow him to pull you towards his bedroom. Where he lets you go to go rummaging through is drawers for some dry clothes. You wrap your arms around yourself and rub your hands up and down your arms trying to stay warm while Xiaojun rifles through is clothes. He’s agitated and you know that he isn’t about to let today’s little inconvenience go. He’s going to let it consume his thoughts. And again, you try to understand what makes today different from any other time the two of you had to cancel or change plans. You keep coming up blank.
Xiaojun comes to stand in front of you with a pair of sweatpants, a t-shirt, and a sweatshirt. He places them in your hands and tells you that you can change in here and that he’ll change in the bathroom. He turns and disappears into the bathroom leaving you standing in the middle of the room staring at the space where he once stood.
Shaking yourself you strip out of your wet clothes and chance into the warm clothes that Xiaojun gave you. Once your changed you sit on the end of his bed crossing your legs and resting your head in your hand. You watch the door to the bathroom waiting for it to open. After a few more moments Xiaojun calls out to ask if you are dressed. When you tell him it’s safe to come out you watch him walk out in an outfit similar to yours. He looks at you perched on the end of his bed and the anger that was in his eyes earlier starts to disappear as he makes his way towards you.
He stops in front of you causing you to tilt your head back to be able to look at him. He looks down at you taking in you wearing his clothes, your wet hair piled on top of your head and Xiaojun wants to reach out and cup your face between his hands. To lean down towards you and to touch his lips to yours. He wants you but he can’t have you, you’re his friend and you are seeing someone else. You are the definition of unavailable. At that thought Xiaojun earlier mood returns, and he finds himself balling his hands up again.
“Hey what’s with the dark mood again?” You ask as you uncross your legs and come up onto your knees. Reaching out for Xiaojun you place both your hands on his shoulders and give him a slight shake, “What is going on with you today. You have never been this upset before when plans had to change.”
Xiaojun imagines telling you it all. Telling you how he doesn’t like that you are dating, that every time he has to hear about a date you been on it guts him. How he is irrationally jealous that you spent your time with another man that isn’t him. That someone else gets to hold your hand, kiss you, and be with you. That he hates that he has to share space in your head and heart with another man who might one day take up all the space you have leaving none for him. He almost tells you how he is scared that one day he is going to lose you because you don’t need him any more or because you have to choose a relationship over your friendship with him and you choose the relationship. For a split second he almost tells you it all. But he doesn’t because he’s scared. Instead, he settles for a half truth.
“I just wanted today to be fun for the two of us. Where all your attention is on us and I don’t have to compete with your boyfriend, “Xiaojun sighs and you widen your eyes at his admission, “I guess I’m feeling some jealousy at having to share you.”
Pulling Xiaojun into you, you wrap your arms around his neck and burry your face into the crook of his neck. You didn’t want him to ever feel like he had to compete with whoever you were seeing. Doesn’t he know how important he is to you. That all of your relationships have ended because you choose him every time. That as soon as someone you are dating starts to get upset with how much time you spend with him and gives you the line, “him or me,” you pick him every time. That you would gladly cancel your plans with your date if he asked you too.
“How long have you been feeling like this?” You whisper into his neck. Xiaojun wraps his arms around you securing you to him.
“Just recently,” he admits, “I think I’m just experiencing some jealous emotions because of how serious you seem to be with this guy.”
Xiaojun wasn’t lying he was jealous this time compared to all the others because this time it seemed serious. You have been seeing this guy for months now and it didn’t seem like it was staying casual it was moving into the serious territory. You had even mentioned wanting him to meet the guy you were seeing. That was probably when Xiaojun had first experience the feeling of jealousy because he had never met anyone you had dated. This guy was different, important enough to you for you to want him to meet him. And he was worried about what it meant.
“That doesn’t mean that he’s more important than you,” you pull away from Xiaojun and cup his face between your hands forcing him to look at you, “you will always be the most important person in my life. No matter who I date.”
“You say that now but,” Xiaojun starts.
“But nothing!” You firmly tell him. “You will always mean more, always.”
You stress the last word locking eyes with Xiaojun. You want him to know that you mean it. That no matter who you end up dating, where you end up in life, he will always be the most important person in your life. He was your best friend, more than a best friend and nothing and no one would ever take his place.
“Okay,” Xiaojun sighs his shoulders sagging and you pull him into another hug. You had thought something was up with him the last time you saw him and now that he admitted what was bothering him you hoped that things between the two of you would get better.
“Are we okay?” You ask pulling away from him again to look into his eyes.
“Yeah, we’re okay. We’ll always be okay,” Xiaojun tells you. This time he gives into his hands and reaches one hand out to softly trace the apple of your cheek. As long as he always had you in his life, he would be okay. He just can’t handle losing you, that is something that he knows he would never survive.

Tumblr media
“Are you happy with me?”
“Hmm. I don’t know, you tell me?” you let out a giggle as you put down your pencil and swing an arm around your boyfriend while you two look at the dress you designed for a very much awaited fashion show.
“The way I see it yes,” he kisses your neck, loud and wet sounds of kisses surrounds your small studio. “You love every bit of my handsome being” Xiaojun added as he nibbles your ear and turns you on.
“I'm sure about loving you but I'm not sure about the handsome part-“ and before you could even finish your sentence he attacked you with tickles that weakens your knees and fall on the floor slowly as you laugh your heart away, feel your heartbeat so fast, feel your body get warm. And when you’re both lying on the cold floor, both smiling and catching your breaths he asked you a question that will forever change your life.
“If you’re happy with me, marry me”
It was suddenly quiet.
“Huh?” you said, eyes wide when you saw that he’s not joking.
“I was planning to ask you to marry me once I convince you to go to bed now and sleep early. The ring is in our room, what do you say?” his hold on you tightens as he waits for your answer, eyes hopeful, heart racing.
“That's the crappiest proposal ever but I love it. Yes”
And finally, Xiaojun can breathe again and stop being nervous. He was so happy that he can’t believe you actually said ‘yes’ this time. “Yeah? You’ll marry me? Hmm?” He kisses you again and starts tickling you but soon the playful moment turned into a passionate one. You feel his cold hands creep under your thin blouse and feel him lift it without breaking the kiss. You did the same with his dress shirt, unbuttoning it without wasting every moment you could get with those amazing lips. “I think we should bring this to our room and you know… so I can propose properly?”
When your boyfriend, now fiancé, was putting the ring on your finger, you couldn't help but think of how he waited for this moment patiently. And how he endured all the heartbreak you have put him through but still, he stayed and waited.
You don’t know why the sex felt even greater now that he finally put a ring on your finger or maybe it’s just because your love became even stronger for Xiaojun and he feels the same. Every kiss, every touch, every thrust he gives you tonight felt warm like you’re about to melt any second. Your toes curled so many times even though you’re not on edge yet.
“Ooh baby” you moaned out and reach for his arm, he asked you ‘what do you want?’ while kissing your collar bones while he’s balls deep inside you. “fuck me from behind” you request, and without any hesitation he pulls out and turned your body, spreading your legs and lifting your hips effortlessly. He licks your opening first before he thrust in again slowly, his hands are perfectly placed on your ass cheeks, spreading it and watching himself slide in and out of you smoothly. He saw you grip the sheets and furrow your brows when he finally hit the spot you oh so loved. Xiaojun then grabbed your hand and intertwined it with his, seeing the ring shine from the soft light from the lampshade. You cannot see it, but your fiancé is blushing like crazy seeing that ring on your finger while he fucks you good.
He doubled his pace, kissing your shoulders as you tighten your grip with his hand. When you clenched around him, Xiaojun lost it and came before you could. “Don’t pull out yet- fuck I’m almost there” you moaned out, accidentally overstimulating your boyfriend for you requested over and over again, 'don't stop'. Your knees gave up and you both flopped on the mattress with heavy breathing and sweaty bodies, smiling at each other as you both enjoy your high.
After he cleaned you up, you snuggled in bed with fresh new sheets and enjoying this very sweet moment while you two let your engagement sink in. “You know I thought you were going to say, no or not yet” Xiaojun admitted.
“Hmm. That’s reasonable, we’ve been through so much already. I can’t blame you” you said.
“Who would have thought that you will marry the person you hated the most?” you both giggled at what he said and tightens his embrace, and right then and there you remember how you used to hate his whole being during college.
Xiaojun’s mere existence annoys the shit out of you.
You thought that your morning with your boyfriend Jaehyun will be peaceful after having your morning sex and Jaehyun offered to make you breakfast. But now your morning is perfectly ruined by his roommate Xiaojun as he eats his cereals in front of you, feet on the table, hair messy, and still wearing his pajamas despite having his morning class in twenty minutes.
“I heard you moaning this morning. Is Jaehyun really that good?” he teased you and Jaehyun, watching your boyfriend smack his head playfully.
“Yeah I’m that good- Xiaojun we have class may I remind you. Dude, go shower already” Jaehyun hands you a plate with freshly cooked pancakes, “Just let it go, babe. He’s just joking,” he says when Xiaojun left the table to go shower.
“Yeah, and I don’t like his jokes. Seriously Jae, live with me instead of this… person” you whine and enjoy what he cooked.
“He’s been my best friend since we were kids and were basically family so, can’t do that” he explains kisses your forehead as an apology.
You and Jaehyun started dating during your first semester as a senior together. You were this perfect fashion student slash valedictorian that suits Jaehyun’s prince charming image and the most popular guy on campus. Everyone thought you’re made for each other and well, perfect for each other.
Except for Xiaojun.
Instead of having the time of your life during your senior year with your handsome boyfriend, Xiaojun comes in and ruins everything. You have nothing against Jaehyun and Xiaojun being friends but sometimes Xiaojun is a handful that you can’t stand it anymore that you and Jaehyun fight because of him. Like that one time you and Jaehyun were having sex in his room and he forgot to lock the door and Xiaojun came in barging in his drunken state. Jaehyun had to pull out in front of him, cover you, and get dressed before he basically drags Xiaojun out of his room.
“Babe, I’m all he’s got. I’m sorry, please don’t break up with me”
After graduating together, you and Jaehyun got a place and lived together for a few years. Xiaojun is still present in your lives, not present like your college days but still, he’s annoying whenever he’s around.
Turns out you don’t need Xiaojun to make you realize that you can’t be with Jaehyun anymore. You and Jaehyun broke up simply because you can’t see a future with him but he didn’t take it well and blamed Xiaojun instead. It was a peaceful breakup but Jaehyun didn’t want to let you go and the moment he lost you, and blamed his best friend and cut ties with him.

I have abandoned everything I am currently writing. I hate it all right now. Do you ever feel like that?
I have left them in a document to come back to. It is so frustrating when I can’t finish anything. I have about 7 stories/fics/whatever started and they are good ideas - I mean they aren’t revolutionary but they are great for what they are - but I just cannot today.
I am going to try a prompt and get myself back into the flow of writing and hopefully that helps.

Profit Margin- Chapter 6: Hidden Treasures
Chapter warnings: none
Word count: 1300
-----
It took Y/N more than a few minutes to make herself presentable. She started by drying her hair, taking the time to style it how she normally would, which wasn't as easy a process as one would expect. After that, she begrudgingly applied makeup. It wasn't that she didn't like it, (although she believed that no woman should be expected to wear makeup), she just didn't like the idea of getting ready to be... well, sold.
Once she was satisfied with that, she looked to the dresses. On the one hand, she didn't want to satisfy Hendery by wearing the blue dress. Just the thought of it tasted poorly in her mouth. Lucas did warn her against crossing him, though... And on top of that, he had insinuated that she was too big to fit in it. What a jerk. Glaring at it, she grabbed it by the collar. It couldn't hurt to try.
Pulling it on and wiggling into it, she adjusted it by the waist, twisting the garment left and right. She didn't want to look in the mirror... Finally, she drew her eyes up, looking over herself. The dress was tight fitting at the top, with a strange, semi-translucent lace texture. That being said, it still adequately covered her personal areas. That same lace cloth wrapped around and turned into the overlay for the skirt, which was long in the back and party length in the front. The whole thing was a deep, royal blue, complementing her skin tone much more nicely than she expected. It tied with an asymmetrical ribbon around the waist, made of the same, matte blue fabric as the main skirt. It was beautiful, and she hated it.
She had never been too confident with herself. She had her high and low days. Some days, mirrors weren't that bad, and others, she wished she could blind herself after looking at her image. She hadn't worn a dress in a while. Seeing it intricacies, the fitting, it made her hate herself. She knew it should be the least of her concern, considering the situation, but she couldn't help it. She had to stave off the urge to cry for fear of ruining her makeup.
At this moment, she heard a knock on the door, a sound with a familiarly heavy weight.
"Y/N? Are you almost ready? It's getting kinda late."
"I, uh..." She swallowed, trying to get rid of the shakiness in her voice. "I need to put shoes on."
"Oh! I forgot. Here, we'll come pick you out some." She didn't want to leave the room. After a moment, he called again, quieter this time, as if soothing a frightened animal. "Y/N?"
"Y-yeah, I'm coming." She forced herself to reach for the doorhandle, every cell in her body fighting against her will. She knew Lucas wouldn't open the door on her- she had to go. She grabbed the handle, pulling down faster than she could psych herself out. He was standing a few feet away, just enough to be out of the way. Making eye contact, he looked her over.
"Good, it fits perfectly. You look great!" A day ago, she would have loved to hear that from him. Now, it was just unsettling, if not depressing. "Now let's find you some shoes!" He led her to the back half of his room, where there were two smaller openings. The first was a single black door, and the other was a set of double doors. He moved to open the double doors, holding one open so that she was able to walk in freely before him.
It was dark inside, but it smelled like perfume and laundry detergent. The room felt airy... What was this? He wasn't going to try anything, was he? No, if he were planning on it, he would have done it by now. So what, then? He said they were going to get shoes, so- Just as she thought though the logical steps, he flipped the light on, lighting up the space.
The room was much longer than she expected, but only had room for one person to walk down the center comfortably. The walls were completely lined with all types of female clothing. There were dresses, skirts, blouses, a few pants and shorts, some... undesirably creepy garments as well. Underneath these hangers, there were rows and rows of shoes. It was incredible- it looked bigger than any dressing room she'd ever seen. Could she even see the end of the hall? How big was this building in total?
"Everything's organized by size. Do you know what shoe size you might be?" She wasn't completely sure, but she took her best guess, and followed him as they walked down. Eventually, they stopped as Lucas faced her towards the left, gesturing down to the shoes.
"Alright, this is what we've got around that size. There aren't many colors that don't go with blue, but I'd maybe stick to black or white?" She looked down quickly, just picking out whatever shoes fell into her line of sight.
"Just the black flats are fine." He laughed a bit weakly.
"That's uh, not gonna fly. You're gonna want heels, or else Hendery's gonna pick your shoes for you. You do not want that." Looking down as well, he knelt, picking out something. As he did so, he pulled out a bench from under the hanging clothes, something that she hadn't seen until he did so. Stepping back, he silently offered her the place to sit down. She did so, watching confusedly as he knelt at her feet. As he grabbed her ankle softly, she stumbled.
"I- I can do that myself-"
"It's not appropriate for a lady to kneel or open her knees in front of a man. It's no trouble, really." He slipped it onto her foot, finally giving her a good look at the shoe. It was black, fitting the shape of her foot with a sleek, strapped design. Honestly, there was barely any shoe at all. Over the main strap, there was a dainty black velvet flower.
"It's a touch-me-not flower." He said as he buckled the shoe on the side, noting her stare. "I mean, the real scientific name is mimosa... pudica, I think? Don't hold me to that. Anyway, they're really pretty, I think they suit you." A touch-me-not. How ironic. He easily did the other shoe- it broke her heart to think about how many people he'd done this to. How many girls had been through this closet, made up in that bathroom? How many had made it out?
Standing, he offered her a hand to get up. Reluctantly taking it, she stood, trying to get her footing. She hadn't worn heels in a while, either. They weren't unfathomably tall or thin, but it was still uncomfortable. He let her hold onto his elbow as he led her to the elevator, evidently not concerned with her running away. He shut the door behind him, taking her up. The buttons were still unlabeled, but as far as she could remember they were going further up than the conference room floor.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"Kun's office." So she was right, that hadn't been his office. She knew it would be too bare. "He takes the clients up there, it's a bit nicer. Obviously it's very official, but it's more welcoming than the meeting rooms." She had so many questions. Why did he live in the basement? Where were the others? Was this their permanent home, or a functioning base that outshot from the original? Who would be there? What was the client like?
She didn't have time to ask anything before the elevator doors slid open again.

Long day
parings ; Xiao dejun x fem reader
warnings ; mutual masterbating
note ; how are my babies doing,it’s been long since I updated I am completing my requests and will soon open requests again and remember asks are always open and sorry for mistakes if there are any <3
Coming home from a long exhausted day, not just exhausted but bad day too as he was messing up with choreography he tried his best to focus but all he did was mess up again and again. He was practising for too late as his members had to drag him home. Entering the dark house he thought that you would be fast asleep.
As He found you no where in the living room, as he slowly walked towards your shared room he thought that you would have already be fast asleep while hugging a pillow but to his surprise he saw a dim light coming from the room he felt sorry for making you wait for him as he slowly Creaked the door open but what he saw made him completely shocked.
He thought that the dim light coming would have been you watching a movie trying not to sleep and wait for him but there you were lying on your back, bare naked as the bed as one hand squeezing you boob and other one was rubbing your princess part fast trying to chase you high.
As you tried to quite down not wanting to be heard as your eyes rolled at the back of head at the heavenly feeling. But not as heavenly as xioajun, the way his fingers does magic inside you, the way he makes you scream, make you beg for him while he bangs you hard and deep oh god you were a total slut for that,”x-xioajun fuck” you moaned loudly not caring about anything but just about you high.
You suddenly heard a loud chuckle,”Can’t even wait till I come home, such a slut” this made you flinch and meet his strict gaze, you quickly sat up while tried to cover yourself up but xioajun was quick you tell you no,”Don’t you dare” he was still standing there as your eyes traveled down to his boner which was visible at this point. You mouth suddenly started to water as you just wanted to suck on his dick right now.
He slowly walked towards your direction you thought that he would come up to you but you were wrong he took the chair out and sat on that as your were confused,”Xioajun” you whined out he still didn’t answer as he looked up and down at you this is the first time you felt too exposed in front of him,”I wanna see how you rub yourself come one start”
You heisted a bit as your hands slowly reached down to your kitty. As you started to rub slow circles,”faster” he instructed strictly. Again picking up the pace starting to rub your sensitive bundle of nerves your legs started to shake at the immense pleasure.
The room we filled with wet sounds as you looked at xioajun , his gaze was still on you but his hands were around his dick, it was blush pink as pre cum was leaking through it. Small groans and moans left his mouth, you were so in your own pleasure that soon you felt you high coming back again.
You started to pick us you place as again you were close to chasing your high you felt his hot tongue on you wet pussy making you gasp loudly ,”Oh god yes” gripping his hair tightly as he roughly gazed his tongue on your kitty,”I am close xioajun k-keep going” And soon you were coming hard on his tongue.
You felt tired from all the work you had done and thought that xioajun too was over with you but you were so wrong in that as you again felt xioajun’s cold fingers on your sensitive pussy as he pinched you lips hard making your head snap into his direction,”Whoa you thought it was over no no pretty lady I haven’t even fucked your dripping pussy”.

"I lov-ve being your fuck sl-lut" you cried out as Xiaojun took you from behind. He wasn't your boyfriend, you weren't his girlfriend, you two weren't friends with benefits or even "friends". He was just the popular boy from one of your classes. That so happened to be hot, sexy, and have... a girlfriend. Yet here you are, your cunt clenching around him, making him grunt while you practically screamed into the pillow.
Before you two made it to his dorm, he approached you in class and sat down next to you. His eyes making you fall under his spell that made you let him rest his hand on your thigh- his hand slowly making its way up to your core during class, making you horny.
From there, both of you left class after the professor dismissed everyone. You two and practically ran to his dorm. To do what you were doing right now. Fucking. Not making love. Fucking-no kisses or gentle touches. Just raw, hard, sex.
"Grab my hair and fuck me like a dog" you moaned against the pillow. You felt the knot at the pit of your stomach start to form. He grunted before feeling up your back up until his hand stop at your hair. Making a makeshift ponytail, he pulled back leaving the head of his cock in you before he quickly slammed into you. Grabbing your hair back towards him. Making him go deeper than before driving you to your climax.
"XIOAJUN" you screamed as he kept the same harsh brutal pace as before even after you came down from your high.
"Almost, done," he growled. As the over stimulation was getting too much for you an idea popped into your head.
"Wait" you grabbed his hand, signaling him to let your hair go.
"I want to feel you shoot your load in my mouth" You turned your head around to look at him. You saw how sweaty he looked and his abs which you could help but to stare at. He simply nodded and pulled out of you.
You turned to face him and got onto your knees while he was on his knees but standing up.
"Such a dirty whore" he hissed as you took him in fully and started to suck and lick harshly on his length. It took a few minutes before he came, His load-hot, long, and thick-coated your throat. He took out his member from your mouth. A raspy moan left his mouth before he looks down at a you-a a string of cum and saliva connecting to your lips and his cock.
"Um-I"
"shut up. we never did this okay?" he interrupted. You quickly shut your mouth and simply nodded as he got off his bed and went to go put his clothes on.

dancer!renjun x dancer!reader
enemies to lovers
Warnings: none
Requested: yes
“Say it again,” yelling resounded around the room. Sweltering heat surrounded the pair that stood on a marked X. “Say that to my face, Huang Renjun.”
Renjun stood facing you, chest rising rapidly and face red from exertion. Music thrummed in the background and you heard a door click shut. Renjun glared as your finger poked his chest, “You heard me the first time.” He pushed you away from him.
“Don’t turn your back on me,” you gripped his arm, pulling him around to face you again. “You obviously have a problem with me. Have since I first met you.”
“And you’ve just been a perfect saint, right,” Renjun rolled his eyes, ripping his arm away from you. “Don’t you get it. We don’t have to like each other, y/n. All we have to do is get through this performance and then we’ll never have to see each other again. And do you know why?” You stared at him as he grabbed his bag off the ground, “Because you don’t belong here.”
You gaped at him as he slammed the door closed. Rushing out after him you watched his figure storm down the hall, “And you think I don’t know that?” His figure stopped at the end of the hall. “You think that you’re the first one to tell me that. That I don’t know how others feel about the fact that I’m here, when I shouldn’t be. All because the studio made a mistake and realized it too late.”
Renjun’s face clouded over as he raced back down the hall, “You don’t know what you are talking about.”
“What the fact that you, and everyone else, can’t wait until this year is over so that the school can kick me out.” you yelled as he gripped your arm and pulled you into the room the two of you had previously occupied.
“Shut up,” Renjun gripped your shoulders, giving you a light shake.
“You said it before, I don’t belong here. I didn’t get in through typical admissions. Maybe this is all wrong, but I am not letting this opportunity go to waste. You may think that I don’t deserve this or that I am not good enough to perform this dance with you, especially when Haechan and Xioajun were up to be your partner.”
Renjun started shaking his head. His hands fluttered around you as tears pressed at you eyes, “Y/n, stop.”
“But, damn it, I do. I worked so hard to be here. To work with you and the rest of the NC Dance Team and I just wanted to-.“
You gasped as lips crashed into yours. Renjun pressed closer to you, eyes squeezed shut and hand grasping at your hips. You hesitated a moment before gripping his shoulders, kissing him back with vigor. He pushed closer to you and you stepped back, your body now pressed to the glass wall behind you. His lips left yours, trailing down your neck.
“Renjun,” you pant as he sucked lightly at the skin under your ear. “Renjun.” He hummed lightly as he looked up at you. “What are we doing?”
Renjun sighed into your neck, his arms still wrapped around your waist, “There’s a lot we need to talk about.”

“I’m in.” You announced as you entered Sunhee’s bedroom. Today was the day your best friends would join that special program on that spaceship, and after thinking about it deeply throughout the entire night and as Haneul’s words kept ringing in the back of your mind, you finally decided you would join as well. More than seeing it as something bad and annoying, after hearing Haneul’s thoughts about this plan, you started to see it as an opportunity to know more people like you. You have always been surrounded by humans and you, obviously, had no friends with special abilities like you three had.  “Are you serious or you’re trying to fool me?” Sunhee said, stopping packing her stuff and raising one of her eyebrows, not really believing you were actually going to that spaceship with her. “I’m being serious! Stop looking at me like that!” You said pushing away your friend so she would stop looking at you with wide eyes. “I’m sorry but I didn’t expect you to accept the offer! Is there someone you know going??” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows and looking at you with a naughty look, obviously thinking there would be a boy you liked and that was the reason why you were joining. “The only one’s I know are you two you dumb ass!” You said laughing and rolling your eyes.
The three of you finally arrived at the space agency responsible for the spaceship and this new program. “How could you convince your parents to not come with you to say goodbye?” Haneul asked when she saw you arriving on your own. “Let’s just say I didn’t need them bothering me with tons of unnecessary information about space right before I got on a spaceship.” You answered as you struggled to manage all your luggage. “Ready?” You said, a smile plastered on your face, a detail Haneul and Sunhee noticed that left them shocked. They didn’t really know what changed you this much for you to see the spaceship program as something positive when a week ago you hated the idea of being locked in the middle of nowhere. Well, you just saw it as a long vacation with your best friends, like those great vacations humans had on American movies.
“Are you part of the group of people joining the spaceship?” A boy in gray hair asked you from behind. “That’s right.” You said as you turned around to face the young boy. The moment your eyes landed on his figure you were shocked. He was definitely handsome and he had perfect and beautiful eyebrows. “Great! I’m Xiaojun, I’ll be one of the commandants of the spaceship. Meeting point is over there, you should head there if you don’t want to miss the introduction.” He said laughing and pointing at the meeting point direction with a folder on his free hand which you supposed had all your names written. The three of you politely bowed at him thanking the information and headed to the meeting point. “Such a pity he’s a human, he’s handsome.” Sunhee whispered so you and Haneul were the only ones hearing her comment. “Shut up!” You said pushing her away and laughing at the sudden comment. “Why?? Am I lying?” She answered laughing as well. “If the boys joining in the program are as handsome as that Xiaojun boy I’m more than happy that I joined.” Haneul joked.
You arrived where Xioajun told you and tiredly dropped your bags. The place was actually pretty much crowded that you ever expected. Were there that many creatures among humans? It only makes you and your friends even more excited about the whole situation. The three of you have always lived apart from other creatures like you and you were low-key looking forward to meeting people like you so you could feel like you belonged somewhere. “Someone got an eye on you.” Sunhee said, knocking you out of your thoughts and pointing at a blue haired boy across the crowded room that was staring at you. As soon as your eyes met his, he quickly looked away avoiding your gaze. “He’s a handsome werewolf.” Haneul added, joining your conversation with Sunhee. “Do you know him? How do you know he’s a werewolf?” You were surprised at your friend’s ability to read people like that. “He has a scar on his left cheek, only werewolves get that kind of scars.” She stated, pointing at the blue haired boy.
“Welcome to our new program.” You heard a deep masculine voice talking through a mic, gaining everyone’s attention and making your heart race. “We’re glad to welcome you all to this new beginning of an era where humans and creatures can coexist without any danger.” The man announced. “Should I feel offended by that?” You whispered laughing, making your friend’s laugh as well. “I’m glad to see some of you are this excited about joining us. What are their names Xiaojun?” The man said pointing out your and your friends’ laughing. All of a sudden the room was filled with muttering from the rest of people talking about you and your friends. Suddenly you felt everyone’s eyes on you and your cheeks started to get redder as seconds went by and as you eyed Xiaojun looking through the documents searching your name and your friend’s names. “Hwaa Sunhee, Shengkai Haneul and Li (Y/N), sir.” Xiaojun announced, letting everyone know your full names. “What kind of creatures are they?” The man added. You felt the familiar burning feeling you always felt when you were about to lose control of your magic. But then you felt Haneul grabbing your hand, trying to calm you down. “It’s not the moment for losing it.” She whispered in your ear as she tightened her embrace on your hand.
“This is ridiculous, Y. O. U are going to help us with our magic when you call us creatures?” You heard a boy from afar laugh at the man standing in the small stage. “I see you have some problems about being here sir Dong Sicheng.” The man said, looking at the boy who spoke. “Is he really that Dong Sicheng?” You could listen to some girls whispering behind you, making you curious about that boy. “We don’t pretend to force you to be part of this, all of you are here because of your life choices. This is not an obligation, this is a need. We need to do this to coexist peacefully.” The man announced proudly, trying to convince all of you about the great idea it was supposed to be being locked in a spaceship with disgusting humans. Your hate towards humans was something natural that came with your basic characteristics. All of you have sometime in your life felt discriminated against by that species and now, hearing the words of that old man, boiled your blood to the point of wanting to end him. But all of you knew you couldn’t do that if you didn’t want to start a nonsense war between humans and supernatural creatures like they liked to call all of you.
“Do we really have to be here?” A boy in front of you asked another boy you guessed was his friend. “Yes, we have to.” The other boy answered. The introduction meeting went by and as time passed you started to move your attention from the stage to the blue haired boy that Sunhee and Haneul talked about before the meeting started. You took a few minutes to admire him. He was definitely handsome. He had a sharp jawline, a breathtaking side profile and a beautiful yellowish tone was gleaming on his greyish eyes. “(Y/N) let’s go.” Sunhee said grabbing your hand and knocking you out of your own world. “Where were you looking at with such admiration?” Haneul asked, obviously noticing a special gleam on your eyes. “Nothing, just admiring the place before leaving.” You said smiling and walking towards the spaceship hand in hand with your best friends. “Time to open the gate to a new beginning.” You announced tightening your embrace on your best friends’ hands and taking a deep breath before stepping into the spaceship.
“It doesn’t look that bad.” Sunhee said once you have arrived at your room. You have been praying to be paired with them for your room and the moment Xiaojun announced your names while setting the roommates, a peace finally invaded your soul. “And people here seem to hate humans as much as we do.” You joked, remembering everyone’s comments back in the meeting. “Yeah, have you seen that boy named Dong Sicheng? I’ve heard he has come by the government's force. He’s supposed to be the only one being here by force.” Sunhee said about the boy everyone was so shocked about a few hours ago. “There were those two boys in front of us that seemed to be here by force too. The one with the brown long hair and the one with brown and white hair.” You said, remembering the little conversation between the two boys you overheard. “Guess this new life is going to be pretty interesting from now on.” Haneul said, landing on her bed tiredly. She was definitely right. None of you could wait any longer for the spaceship’s take off tomorrow and start meeting those boys that caught your attention. Especially the blue haired boy.

When Darkness Meets ~ Chapter 4
Tumblr media
EXO, BTS, MONSTA X, NCT x Reader
Word count: 1.1K
Playlist: Here
Synopsis: Exo gets connected to BTS for information on Y/n. NCT figured out who she is as well. Finding out that she reins from Mafia Royalty, all three groups are starting to take interest in her. What will happen when a fourth group gets involved? What side will she pick?
“Taehyung go bother Jungkook or somebody else.”
“Why?”
“I’m waiting for an EXO to come over. I can’t have you bothering me as we are talking.” Giving me a frown he turned and walked out of the living room. Swiftly turning my attention to the front door upon hearing a knock. Pacing over to the door to see Lay. Welcoming him in.” How have you been?”
“I’ve been alright, how about you?”
“Eh same old same old. Now why did you actually want to meet up instead of over the phone?” Watching as he sighed, clearly distressed about something.
“Well you know that I asked you before for information on Y/n Huang.”
“Yes, I remember her very well, and I thought I gave everything you needed. It’s only been two days she couldn’t have possibly done anything since then.”
“You have no idea what she is capable of. I know we didn’t expect her to be the way she is.”
“How bad can she be? I mean...c’mon?”
“Let’s go into your office and I’ll tell you the full story.” Waving his fingers at Lay as they proceeded to his office.
“So I’m getting a story. I’m intrigued.” They both sat down.
“Yeah, well so is Suho.”
“Okay wait, I’ll let you continue in a second, but first give me what information you need.”
“I need her address, member’s names, family, everything basically.”
“She really has ticked of Suho, huh?”
“You have no idea, but now back to the story. I will start from the beginning. Two days ago she stole Xiumin’s keys and car. Almost shot Chanyeol and Suho, along with Taeyong. I do not know what NCT has done, but Suho wants her. Then to make it worse you gave me the information on her brothers so I was thinking I could pin her with it, but no. She was being nice at the club for about an hour until her and D.O got into a fight.”
“I’m guessing that because you need this it was bad.”
“Yeah...she was bleeding along with D.O having to get an emergency surgery done.”
“Damn, she definitely knows what she is doing. So what I am seeing now is that the skills are from her parents.”
“That doesn’t help me much there are a lot of people in this business who have kids.”
“Well I can say she is the daughter of two of the most feared people then.”
“How there is only Bae Irene, Hirai Momo, Kim Heechul, Lee Dongwook, and Cho Seungyeun.” Grimacing at two of the names, his eyes widened at me. “Don’t tell me I said both of them?”
“You did. Bae Irene and Lee Dongwook are her parents.”
“That explains why she always seems to be ten steps ahead of us. Every damn time. What else did you get so far?”
“Nothing besides that really. Everything else about her is top secret. I would not be able to get into it if I tried, which I am guessing comes from her parents being that powerful. There is a little crack in this dynamic though, it leads to her training. She got trained by her father for a few years, but after that there is this drop-off. No further names are listed...nothing. The only thing that honestly makes sense is if she went off the grid by this point.”
“How long ago was this information dated?”
“It seems as it was dated when she was only fifteen.”
“That would make sense though. Her brothers joined us when she would have been fifteen.”
“Well there you go, need any other information?”
“No I need to go and tell Suho. Thank you Jimin.”
                                                           ***
Walking into the expanse of his leader’s office he coughed lightly, catching the man’s attention. Said man lifts his head slowly making detached eye-contact. “What is it Yuta?”
“Chenle found out who she is. Her real name is Huang Y/n. She was adopted with her brothers. Two of her brothers were three and her twin and her were 6 months old. She comes from mafia royalty as well. Bae Irene and Lee Dongwook are her parents, Kris Wu, Luhan, and Huang Zitao are her brothers. She also has ties with Nine Percent and NEXT. Her cousins are Justin and Xinchun.”
“How are we supposed to do anything with her since she is royalty?”
“I honestly have no idea. Chenle just kept saying that we are going to die if we try anything against her. I would have to agree with him, but EXO is already trying to come after her, as well as Monsta X and BTS. I did have a thought though, if we are able to get to her first, we could end up getting her on our side. It would be better to have her on our team than get hit by her team.”
“It’s smart Yuta it really is, but I need to send some of our most innocent seeming members first to get them accepted before we all just show up at her door. So please send in the dreamies and V.”
“On it.” Walking out of the office to the dreamies floor. Opening the door to the expansive living room, seeing six out of the seven dreamies lounging on the sofa. Seeing Yuta standing in the doorway Jisung shot up quickly catching the attention of the rest.
“What’s up, Hyung?”
“Taeyong wants you guys in his office. Go ahead while I go get V.” Stepping back out of the doorway upon hearing the shuffling of the boys. Walking across the outdoor corridor to WayV’s dorm. About to knock on the door when it opened showing Xioajun making an incredulous expression. Stepping out of the way to let him in, slowly closing the door behind him.
“May I ask why you are here?”
“What? Am I not allowed to come visit you, Xioajun?” Seeing an anxious look take over his features, he laughed. “I’m joking, Xioajun. Ease up, besides, I need to talk to all of you, especially Kun. So why don’t you just go rally up the rest while I go talk to Kun.”
Not giving Xiaojun a chance to respond, he walked toward Kun’s office. Walking through the open door, Kun sat behind the desk organizing folders. Feeling a presence he looked up at Yuta.
“Oh hey...”
“Taeyong wants you in his office along with the rest of V. The identity of the girl has been found, and he wants to discuss his plan with you, V, and Dream. I already had Xiaojun round up the rest of them, so I just needed to tell you the basic information. I’m going to leave now, but when you figure out the plan come and see me.”

"Have you ever loved anyone?"
The young boy looked up from his incomplete puzzle, before giving her a half-shrug.
"Only you."
"Do I count?" She asked, not sure if best friends were supposed to be clubbed together in this category.
Dejun blinked at her in surprise.
"Of course you do. Why wouldn't you?"
She looked down, playing with the fringe of her dress.
"I don't know, no one seems to care for me." The six year old girl muttered.
She felt him edge closer to her.
"I care about you." He said slowly, as though he was hurt by her statement.
Slowly, she looked up at him and felt herself smile. His honest words had warmed her heart and she didn't know what she would have done without him.
"I care about you too."
The boy smiled back, extending out his pinkie finger for her to interlink.
"Let's promise to take care of each other till the very end."
Tumblr media
"Jun!" She screamed with delight, nearly ripping out the said boy's arm as she pulled him out of the wooden cabin they were staying in. "It's a shooting star, we need to make a wish soon-"
But before either of them could wish, the star disappeared in the horizon, leaving behind a dark night sky sprawling with stars.
"Oh no." She said, visibly upset. "It's gone now."
"Nothing is gone." Dejun whispered, taking her hands in his.
"We can just wish on each other, and it will come true. Faster than a shooting star. "
She blinked at him rapidly, trying to process his words. Soon a smile broke onto her face.
"Yes." She whispered happily. "Let's do that."
Their eyes fluttered closed as they wished upon each other.
"What did you wish for?" Dejun asked.
She raised her eyebrows.
"Are we supposed to say that though?"
His eyes widened in fake betrayal.
"I'm your best friend!"
She laughed at his over reaction.
"Fine. I wished that we meet our soulmates soon."
He gasped.
"I wish that too!"
She looked at him incredulously.
"Really?"
"I swear!" He said, and he took off running, his laughter the only sound in the empty valley.
"Xiao Dejun! Come back here right now!"
Tumblr media
She knew it.
She always had a feeling it was him, but now she was confirmed that her soulmate was her best friend.
In a world where soulmates were found by the initials of your significant other being tattooed on your palm, a lot of people didn't find theirs.
But she knew hers.
She knew these letters and whom they belonged to.
X.DJ
Xiao Dejun.
Her best friend.
The man she had been in love with for god knows how many years.
And so she went to his workplace extra early today, dying to tell him the good news.
Upon entering the bakery, she found her soulmate  in a good mood too.
"Hello mister. I see someone is really happy today." She joked, leaning against the counter.
Dejun smiled at her, causing a million butterflies to break in her stomach.
“I found my soulmate!”
She beamed at him. Of course he did.
“Who’s it?” She asked eagerly.
Just then, one of his coworkers walked in, and Dejun turned around to her. Then, wrapping his arms around the newcomer, he beamed at Y/N.
“This is Junhee, my soulmate.” He said, turning to peck her on the lips.
Y/N felt her world crash as they both showed her their carved initials.
She smiled at them bitterly and congratulated them. After a few words, she walked out of the cafe, the heaviness of her heart almost unbearable.
Looking back she realised something.
Dejun was never hers to keep.

The Choice Is Yours
F!Reader x Vampire!Yuta
Genre: Vampire Dystopia
Warning: Blood, Anxiety, Fangs, Biting, PTSD
Words: 1.5K
Chapters:
One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | Seven | Eight | Nine | Ten | Eleven | Twelve | Thirteen | Epilogue
Prompt: Good behavior goes a long way when a new world order is established within hours and humans wind up at the bottom of the food chain. As luck would have it you were claimed by a vampire named Yuta, so you’re saved in a sense. Many would say you’re in a rather unique situation, and despite its perks it wasn’t really something you asked for.
Tumblr media
You were asleep for most of the trip, not waking up until you got back to Taeyong’s house, stumbling out of the vehicle and being somewhat carried inside. You didn’t fully wake up until you were yanked into someones cold embrace, recognizing Yuta’s voice.
“You’re okay.” He kissed your head. “I was so worried about you.”
You couldn’t help the tears and shaking. Of course he took it as you being scared and happy to be back with him, but it was the opposite.
“It’s okay, I got you now.”
“You both need rest.” Taeyong commented. “So it’s best you stay here until you’ve recovered.”
“Yeah, that’s what’s best.”
You wound up in a room with Yuta, of course, since he didn’t want to let you out of his sight again. Although the room wasn’t entirely yours, you shared a bed with Yuta, and on the other was Xiaojun, still sleeping. You were told he was the worst off in the accident and he hadn’t woken up yet. He was fine and would recover, just needed more time than the others.
For the most part you stayed in the room, not wanting to leave at all. Your meals were brought to you, Yuta insisting on feeding you. On multiple occasions he wanted to feed you his blood, but he was still recovering, so he couldn’t. He kept busy and would find ways of entertaining you when you weren’t asleep, but for the most part you wanted to sleep, it was easy to avoid them all.
“Are you okay?” You suddenly asked Yuta as he fed you. “The accident…”
“I’m fine, it’s not that easy to kill me.”
“And your injuries?”
“Healing. I know you don’t want to be here, but we’ll go home soon.”
“Okay…”
“And you?”
“Hm? Me? I’m fine…”
“I’m glad.”
When you were alone you found yourself staring out the window, and your eyes always found the mountain tops off in the distance. Even if you were back where you started, it was somewhat comforting to know that there were people out there, hiding and safe.
“You’re… you’re okay…”
The voice startled you until you realized Xiaojun had woken up. You went to his side, making sure he was conscious, then you ran out asking for someone to come help him. Given the residents of the house, you were heard, and others rushed inside. In a moment you were kicked out of the room, you didn’t mind too much, figuring maybe a walk around the house wouldn’t hurt. You weren’t familiar, but this time you weren’t running around.
“Feeling better?”
You ran into Taeyong. He seemed busy in his own way, walking around with papers, and a bluetooth present. You simply nodded, thinking you were interrupting him. Instead he took the bluetooth off, and got closer.
“Would you come with me?”
You nodded, not wanting to upset him. You followed him to his office and sat down across his desk. He seemed occupied with a few things, then his attention shifted to you.
“How’s your recovery going?”
“Good…”
“Any lingering pains?”
“No…”
“That’s good to hear. I do have some questions for you.”
“Questions?”
“Yes. You were taken by one of the few little human rebellions that exist. So what can you tell me about them?”
“I… I don’t understand…”
“Where were you going? Names, descriptions. Anything that could help us locate them.”
“I… I don’t have that kinda information…”
“I see… I think you’re lying.”
“What?”
“It’s in your best interest to tell me the truth.”
You were scared of Taeyong, but you weren’t going to give him anything. You wanted to protect Jinwoo and the others who saved you, even if that meant getting hurt.
“I don’t have anything to tell you. I was in the wreck, I was injured, they were just dragging me along. I was barely-”
“You seemed to be well when we found you, surely-”
The door to the office opened and Yuta stormed in. He was worried about you, having found you had left the room. It didn’t take long to figure out where you had gone.
“Yuta, yes, come on it.”
“What are you doing?”
“Y/n and I are having a conversation.”
“And her heartbeat isn’t telling you anything?”
“It’s assuring me she’s withholding information on the rebels that nearly killed her.”
“If she knows anything, then you should trust I’ll get it out of her when she’s ready.”
“And when will that be?”
“You know, I’m feeling much better, so I’ll be going home.”
“Xiaojun just woke up.”
“And I’m sure he wants to go home too, if not, he can stay and recover.”
“Well you’ve got your mind made up, so you can go.”
Yuta took your hand and led you out of the office. You hadn’t actually noticed how stressed you had been over the questioning. You knew if Yuta hadn’t come in, things might have taken a turn for the worse.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah…”
“I’m just going to talk with the others, then we’ll go home.”
Within the hour you were back on the road. YangYang was once again behind the wheel, Xioajun staying at Taeyong’s place for a few more days. You couldn’t help but feel anxious, the last time you were in a car with Yuta, it had been blown off the road. He could tell you were anxious, but he spent the whole trip soothing you. Despite the early argument, Taeyong had dispatched some of his people to escort you back home, for safety.
You made it home safe, and you were a bit relieved. The tracker in your neck was finally removed, and you could relax. Although that was one of the only things that brought you relief. Yuta was more clingy this time around, never wanted you out of sight or arms. You understood he was still shaken up over the accident, and you were too. You were a lot more quiet and reserved, far more aware of how good that little bit of freedom was.
Yuta was always trying to pick up your mood, make you smile, make you laugh, but most of the time he felt short. You didn’t want him to be mad at you, but you also couldn’t help your own feelings. He never tried to push you, or even point out your silence, overall just happy to have you. Even in your state, there was something that was on your mind, something you wanted to ask. You finally had the courage to do so.
“Yuta…”
“Yes? What is it?”
“About the crash…”
“Hm?”
“Before we got attacked… you said-”
“Ah, yes… that… I remember. I was drunk, very drunk, so I was just babbling nonsense. I didn’t mean anything.”
“Oh… okay…”
You didn’t know if you should be relieved or upset. It was good to have an answer, but now you weren’t so sure of what to do with it. One night, in another attempt to make you happy, Yuta suggested he bite you, pleasure you, even if it was cheating a bit. You didn’t want him to do that, but he had already made up his mind. His fangs were in your shoulder in the blink of an eye. You were overwhelmed instantly but it didn’t stop you from trying to get him off.
“Yuta… Yuta please…”
The boy stopped in that moment. Your voice, the way you called out for him, it reminded him of the accident. You needed him at that moment, and he couldn’t help you. Yuta had pulled away, panic starting to build, especially as he realized you were barely conscious.
“No, no, y/n, please, please, stay awake.”
Despite his pleas, he couldn’t really stop you from passing out from blood loss. It was irrational but in the moment he was afraid he’d lose you. He held you tight, your heartbeat helping to relax him. You weren’t hurt, you weren’t gone but he wasn’t going to do that again anytime soon.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”
♥♥♥♥♥
In the morning you woke up sore, having slept in Yuta’s arms. You remember that he bit you, so it explained the weakness. Now that you were awake, your movements woke up Yuta, and he just cuddled closer. He had breakfast brought to you in bed, and was attempting to feed you, but you really couldn’t do this anymore.
“Yuta…”
“Yes?” He seemed nervous. “Is everything okay?”
“No… I… I understand you… you’re worried but… I just need space.”
“Oh… I’ve been overbearing…”
“I just need space…”
“Okay… then after today… you’re a bit weak from last night…”
“That’s fine.”
He did honor your request, and left you alone after that day, even if he wanted you near. To at least give some peace of mind, you’d spend most of your time outside in the yard, where he could see you from his study. Again you’d find yourself looking at the mountain, thinking of Jinwoo. In the moment his words rang in your head, about hidden tunnels on the estate. It finally helped you realize that you had become complacent in your cage. Fighting wouldn’t be pointless, and there was a place to go. You could be free, but only if you took matters into your own hands.

The night’s soft breeze gently swayed trees back and forth, their leaves ruffling together, filling the silent air with some sound. Tall street lamps dimly lit up the cracked sideway that Y/n and Xiaojun now walked along. The two of them were silent as they walked. Y/n fighting a battle in her mind as she tried to find the right words. She had gone over what she wanted to say a thousand times but now her mind was blank.
‘Y/n, I know why you texted me” snapping her head up, she looked at him. “You do” “of course I do, after our last conversation and the. you suddenly ghosting, I kinda did the math” “Xiaojun-“ you like Mingi, and that’s okay-“ “wait, what” “you like Mingi? isn’t that what you were going to tell me?” Y/n’s brows scrunched together, she liked Mingi? “w-what? I- no- I.” Y/n stumbled over her words as she tried to keep up with how fast her brain was moving. Her feeling went away for Mingi a long time ago- right? “It’s okay y/n. I could kinda tel as soon as I saw you two together, I’m not mad. I was just hoping for a little more time with you” “wait- I-“ Y/n took in a deep breath “I was going to tell you that Mingi confessed” now Xiaojun was confused. “So, he’s in love with you, but you’re not in love with him?” Was she in love with him? Could she reciprocate his feelings without any doubt in her mind. “I- I don’t know.” It was the honest answer, she thought her feelings for Mingi went away a long time ago, but now- now she wasn’t so sure.
“Well, I can’t help you figure it out, but if it helps, you two always look really happy together” Xiaojun rubbed her back as her face twisted in confusion once more. However, now tears were welling up in her eyes. She was so fustrated, why couldn’t she make up her mind, why couldn’t she understand what she was feeling. “I- how can I sort out my feelings when I don’t know what I’m feeling?” She asked Xiaojun, her wide, glossy eyes looking up at him. Her soft features illuminated in the dim street light making her tears shine brightly in her eyes, which cause a pang is Xiaojun’s heart. Xiaojun took her face in his hands, and placed a long and sweet kiss to her lip. “What did you feel” “w-what” “y/n, what did you feel when I kissed you?” In realization, her eyes widened. she wanted to explode, to cry for joy but also for regret for what she was about to do. “Xiaojun I’m so sorry-“ “hey, it’s alright.” “But you came to Korea for me and I-“ “you did nothing wrong, plus we leave in a week, it’s not like I moved here for you.” “Xiaojun-“ “please, don’t pity me, I’m happy for you, now go get your man” “Thank you.” Y/n’s chest bubbled with excitement and nerves as she gave Xiaojun a hug, quickly kissing him on the cheek before she started sprinting down the street. “Go get em’ tiger!” Xioajun called out after her as she ran, “I will” she yelled right back, making the boy laugh.

“Sorry I’m late, my boss won’t stop at anyothing especially fashion week is just around the corner” you apologize to your girlfriends as you give them a kiss on the cheek one by one, “So what did I miss?” you added.
“Oh, nothing just a few shots of tequila. You know what to do” your friend says as she pours you a few shots to make it up to them and in no time, the tequila had you dancing with your friends and strangers on the dance floor. The place was blurry and all you can see is a dark place illuminated by colorful laser lights and shadows of people dancing.
You are drunk already, and so are your friends.
And the next thing you know is you woke up naked in a stranger’s bed. Body covered by blue thin sheets and your head hurts like hell because of the sunlight. “Sorry about that” he then closed the curtains and hand you a cup of coffee. His blurry image became clear when he flashed you that familiar smirk.
“Small world Y/n” he started, “Why don’t you have a shower first and go change the have breakfast with me” he says and pointed you his bathroom before he leaves you alone.
As you force yourself to go shower, still clinging to this thin blanket to cover your naked body while you try so hard to remember how did you end up in Xiaojun’s place. First of all, you don’t know that he has his own place already, and second, why would you ever go to his place. You shook your head and shower your thoughts away until you feel clean. You were sure that you and Xiaojun did not have sex because you perfectly remember his figure leaving the room last night and even turned the lights off.
“Want me to fill you up with what happened to you last night?” he said, pouring himself a cup of coffee while smiling because you look cute in his clothes.
“Yes please,” you said while you take a sit as far away from him. Everything looked entirely wrong, but you feel like you’re in the right hands instead of waking up with a total stranger.
“For starters, we were at the same bar. Found you throwing up in the men’s bathroom- believe when I tell you that I am shocked. You were batshit drunk and throwing up on the toilet, you were a mess. Your friends got drunk and they can’t take you home, so I volunteered” he explained hoping that you will believe everything he says.
“I remember undressing last night, after you turned off the lights. Thank you”
He raised his cup of coffee like he’s saying, ‘I’m annoying but not a pervert’. Little did you know that he loved taking care of you. It was his first time doing it to you last night, but it felt great to finally give back. It was always you who takes care of his drunken ass back then in your college years. Even though you hate him and Jaehyun is the one making you change his clothes back then while he cleans Xiaojun’s puke, he was always thankful for you and Jaehyun.
He then gave you a plate full of food he prepared and gave you some pain killers for your headache. Xiaojun was looking at you lovingly, it’s been so long since the last time he saw you eat breakfast across the table with him.
“Shit I have a meeting” you got up from your comfortable seat and put a few fruits in your mouth before you look around for your things. “I’m sorry about this, I’ll treat you to dinner. Here-“ you fidget on your phone and hand it to him for his number while you fix your coat.
Everything happened so fast. After he saved his number on your phone, you were gone again. He didn’t even have the chance to say he's sorry.
After that fateful day, your job made you busy for the next few weeks and you forgot to call Xiaojun. Until weeks turned into months, you thought that calling him at such a late notice will make you look like you’re flirting with him, so you stopped yourself from calling him.
Even when you really want to.
Today was one of those moments when you realize that you’re the only single lady in your group of friends. You were completely fine with being single of course, but everyone was just flexing their dates in front of you and you can’t help but think of Xiaojun and ask him to be your plus one in a friend’s wedding but then again, that sounds too desperate of you so you dropped the idea.
The wedding was beautiful, you’re glad to see your friend happy in the arms of the right guy and you wish the same things for yourself too.
While you were busy tearing up in the corner with a glass of champagne in your hand, you felt someone put a coat on you and you can’t protest further because it’s Xiaojun. You were sure you didn’t send him the text, you didn’t even compose the message. It was just a thought, but he is here in front of you.
“Small world huh?” he said, with a smile that melts your heart in an instant. He looked so handsome with that loose tie that you unconsciously fix without hesitation. Xiaojun was taken aback when you came closer to him, turned his head to the side, and just let you do what you must. “Sorry. It’s just a habit, I work in the fashion industry so,- sorry” you stepped back and cling to his coat, he just smiled and nod his head.
“Want to dance? Come on no one knows we used to hate each other here” he winks and asked for your hand which you gladly gave in and let him sway you under soft music as you let your friends gossip on the side.
“Are you friends with the groom?” you asked, trying to start a conversation to make it up to him for not calling.
“Neither, my cousin is invited she made me her plus one” he snorted and you let out a giggle. Thankful that you’re not actually stealing him from anyone.
“I wanted to say sorry. About everything. Me being an asshole to you during our college days, and your relationship with Jaehyun. Were not friends anymore, he cut ties after you broke up with him”
Hearing Xiaojun say his sorry to you actually warms your heart as he continues to sway your bodies side to side. But hearing that Jaehyun stopped being his friend because of you, breaks your heart. “I didn’t break up with him because of you. H-he knows that, how can he say that to you”
“Well, that’s years ago. It’s fine Y/n,” You hum to what he said and enjoyed the moment further because it’s not every day you get to dance with a handsome guy. “I think you should come home with me before you get yourself drunk and go home with a total stranger” you both giggled at what he said, smacking his arm playfully because he’s so smooth.
Later that night you’re back to his apartment, and you’re not just back for the sake of having a nightcap at his place.
One thing led to another and you caught yourselves kissing on his bed, still fully clothed and with no light in his bedroom, just a small light from the lamppost outside which you thought is even more romantic than the moonlight.
You were just kissing and the sexual tension is building up fast but none of you wanted to move or ruin this sweet moment but he had to ask you, “do you want to do it tonight?” He asked softly kissing your neck and lips while he waits for your answer.
“I want to but, it feels right to just kiss you the whole night. Is that okay?” You smiled at him, cupping his face with your cold hands which he catches quickly, and shower it with kisses.
“Of course” he then starts kissing you again. Way softer this time, hands intertwined with each other. The night ended with pure kissing and no funny business, something you least expected from Xiaojun.
The morning after, you and Xiaojun promised to see each other again despite your busy schedules. He was so scared that you might hate him again the moment you step out of his place and forget that you and him shared something special in his bed last night. The morning was full of stolen kisses and reminiscing while you watch him make you a hearty breakfast before you both head to work. It was so hard to leave after breakfast and you think it’s cute how you two feel the same way.
A date is followed by another date, then another one, until you two stopped worrying that your hate for each other will come back. The getting to know each other phase was intimate, you now knew things about Xiaojun that he never told anyone before, except you and Jaehyun.
“I always envied him. For years and years, I see the way you loved him, how you take care of him and I can’t stop myself for wishing the same things for myself, you know?” He admitted. You hug him tighter and let him feel your guilt. You saw a smile on his face and quickly planted a kiss on your lips.
Xiaojun is not perfect. He has imperfections and those imperfections are part of the many reasons why you love him. Truth be told you’re not perfect too, but Xiaojun loves you as if you are. For him, he would rather accept each other’s imperfections rather than losing each other.
You knock on his apartment with a few take-outs in your hand and decided to have a surprise dinner together. He hasn’t texted you for two days straight now and you’re starting to get worried. When he opened the door, a tired Xiaojun welcomed you. Eyes tired, dark under eyes and he smelled like he hasn’t showered for days.
“To what do I owe this pleasure” he kissed your forehead and helped you with the stuff you brought for dinner. “You look nice, you go to work looking that beautiful?” He added and weakly winked at you.
“Baby, you look like shit” you rake his greasy hair, dirty but you don’t care.
“I’ve been working on this game for days now, I’m so frustrated already” he whines while he prepares the meal. “I need hugs, kisses, and sex maybe?” He was always quick to turn your moments around and the next thing you know you’re laughing so loud while you’re enjoying the food. For a moment there, he forgot that he was stressing about this game he was talking about because you make everything better with your mere presence. He wanted to tell you that this apartment of his was like a bat cave before you came in, and now that you're here gracing him with your presence, it's like every corner of this place lit up automatically.
After dinner and while you were washing the dishes, you felt Xiaojun's arms cage you while you're busy scrubbing the plates, "Thanks for the visit," he says kissing your nape and your neck.
"Are you shooing me already?" you joked.
He let out a low giggle and felt his hands wander on your waist and on your sides. “Can we do it tonight?” there was no sign of pressure in the way he asked you, he was caging you with his arms as you wash the dishes and kissing you lovingly.
“If we shower first, then yeah”
“Together?” With wide eyes, he asked you.
“No silly” you giggled, “go shower first,” you sealed it with a kiss, and without hesitation Xiaojun head to his bathroom and clean himself.
He wasn’t joking when he told you he needed sex, the man was so stressed indeed that you see his table in his bedroom all messed up with papers, dirty cups of instant ramen on the side, and his computers with a lot of codes that you don’t understand.
“Found you” he whispers behind you. The smell of his shampoo and soap lingers around the room. You turned your back and smiled at him, kiss his exposed chest, and ruffle his wet hair.
“Next time you’re stressed with work, tell me. I’ll do my best with you, okay?”
“Sorry” he kissed you on the cheek, “I’m so used to being alone that I forgot we’re in this together from now on. I’m really sorry” you told him it’s okay over and over again but he tells you he’s sorry still.
After you have the most amazing hot shower you ever had you found Xiaojun waiting for you in his bed, and looking incredibly hot with only wearing his glasses and nothing underneath those thick sheets. Even his bed felt amazing, you feel like you’re lying on a cloud with an angel beside you. A naked angel. While you’re only wearing your panties and his oversized shirt.
“Your apartment feels like home” you admitted and went on top of him, flopped in between his bare legs, letting his soft cock poke your lower abdomen. His hands immediately go on top of your shoulder to give it a tight squeeze and massage it for a few seconds. He figured you might be stressed with work too and he didn’t even bother asking you if you’re fine.
He wanted to talk more, but too late. You’re already naked under the thick sheets, kissing him down and you’re on your way to give him the best blow job ever. You kissed his lower abdomen, hearing the man underneath you grunt and get excited. You stroke his soft cock while you continue to kiss him and tease him, lick a few stripes before you play with his head. When he’s finally hard and ready, you slowly bobbed your head and glide your tongue as you take him whole. You didn’t waste your time anymore and gave him what he wants, you reach for his hand, put it on the sides of your head, and let him thrust in your mouth. It was filthy despite being the first time doing such sexual activity, but you did not care.
Spit was all over your face, Xiaojun then covers his face as he tries his best not to cum so soon. He stopped on purpose, giving you time to breathe and giving him time to control himself. You crawl up to him after you wiped the spit on your face and spread soft kisses on his body, “it’s okay to cum in my mouth, why did you stop?”
He was quiet and still catching his breath while you grabbed his cock and pump it slowly. You kissed him and told him you’re on top for tonight just because he’s the one who needed stress release. You leaned on him before you line his cock and Xiaojun’s mouth was quick to catch one of your nipples with his mouth and suck it. Tongue swirling, teeth biting, and softly pinching it before you ride him.
His hands are on both sides of your hips while you slowly go down and swallow his cock with your pussy. “Mmm” you moan out and feel the stretch that Xiaojun gives you, it has been way too long since your last fuck and that explains how tight you are. You feel his grip tightens every second and when he’s finally fully inside you, he let out a loud moan to express how good you make him feel.
You lean forward and kissed him before you roll your hips, grab his hand, and made him grip your boobs instead of your sides. "I'm yours" you whisper. The first roll of your hips felt fucking good for both of you. You watch your boyfriend part his lips beneath you and ask for more which you gladly gave him by fucking him slow and deep that lustful sounds came out from your mouth and Xiaojun is loving all of it.
"You sound great, try moaning my name? Hmm?" he request, mouth parted, eyes lidded and full of lust.
"Xiaojun" you moan out. But you didn't do it on purpose, his name unconsciously escaped from your mouth because he's kissing your neck, pinching your nipple with his left hand, and drawing circles on your clit with his right hand. You did not miss how his fingers and his sweet whispers are the ones who put you on edge and eventually hit your high when he added more pressure on your clit. You tried pushing him away because the pleaser is too much, Xiaojun slowed down for your sake.
"Is it okay if we continue until I cum?" you can only nod with his request. A few lustful kisses, moaning, and sharp gasps here in there, he trades places with you effortlessly fucking you at a really slow pace because that's what you both needed. Your right knee is folded so he could thrust deeper, now it’s your turn to part your lips, furrow your brows and ask for more. Unconsciously, your thumb brushes on his lips while you cupped face and without hesitation, Xiaojun put your thumb in his mouth and sucked it while he fucks you hard.
It’s obvious that he’s near already when you see him turn his head from side to side and his slow and deep thrusts became hard and piercing. He was catching his breath, eyes shut and moaning loudly as he's letting you know that you're the one who made him feel good.
“Good?” You asked sweetly to him, and nod his head weakly while feeling his body warms up and shoots his cum inside you. He kisses your lips, your neck, and your knee and he told you, “I love you” you giggled and raked the hair covering his face, “you seriously told me you love for the first time while you’re still shooting your cum inside me?” you watch your boyfriend get shy in the cutest way possible.
The night ended sweetly with Xiaojun kissing your legs while he cleans you up, and letting you play with the game he has been working on. Spending time with Xiaojun is like an escape from reality, very addicting and you never want it to end. Maybe that’s why you always cling to him in your sleep.
Waking up with your arm around his body has become Xiaojun’s favorite thing now and you sleeping with no clothes on is just a plus. He covers your exposed body because you’re making him horny first thing in the morning with those perked up nipples but did not waste his opportunity to kiss you good morning. He started kissing you on your neck, down to your collar bones until you’re awake enough to swing your arms around him and return the kiss.
“Sore?” He teased you and you snorted because it’s true. “Breakfast?” he added, still looking at you lovingly and secretly thanking the universe for bringing you together again.
During breakfast, it seems like you two can’t get enough of each that he wanted you to sit on his lap while you have breakfast. The morning was full of giggles, nonstop teasing, and tickles. You give him a piece of bread and he will give you a kiss in return, his hands are perfectly secured around your frame, and his eyes... oh his eyes are only fixed to you.
“I’m the worst boyfriend,” he says while drawing small circles on your knee.
“No, you’re not”
“Last night while I was massaging your shoulders, I did not miss how you grunt and let out a relieving sigh. It’s obvious you’re tired too-“ he shook his head and went straight to the point, “Live with me, that way we can sleep peacefully at night. Come home with each other, massage each other’s back. Let me be a better boyfriend”
The fact that he wanted to be better for you even though he’s already doing so much makes your heart thump so fast because of pure joy. “Xiaojun do you know that you’re naturally sweet?” You cup his face and kissed his lips and hope that the way you kiss him will make him understand how happy you are right now. “okay, let’s be better for each other... and massage each other’s shoulders” you placed your arm around his shoulders and pulled him closer to you, making the kiss more intense and soon you can hear each other moan deliciously.
Moving in with Xiaojun was a big change, you still hated his weird habits like how he hates doing dishes but now he has you to straighten him up. At night, you spend time with each other after a long day from work, may it be making dinner together or eating takeout and end the day with great sex and sleep with tired bodies. When the sun is up, you start your day right with morning kisses that you will never get tired of, have breakfast together and if you have enough time, you and Xiaojun will fuck before going to work.
Then again, at the end of the day, you come home from work excitedly and he will stop whatever he’s doing to welcome you home, continue his day, and spend it with you.
No more worrying for each other, no more not seeing each other for days. You are each other’s home now.
Of course, there's no perfect relationship and even though you love each other like crazy there will be moments that you can’t avoid no matter how hard you try. Since Xiaojun is a game developer, he’s all about fun and being spontaneous while you on the other hand are always uptight and you always want to stick on schedule. Your personalities always contradict each other so you fight like crazy sometimes but never sleep until you fix the problem, compromise, and work things out no matter what happens.
Xiaojun has your heart and you are each other's weakness.
The once huge change or shift in your life is now your normal, and home. In the span of being together for two years, you and Xiaojun settled with each other happily.
And that happiness is a great push for Xiaojun to ask you to marry him.
It was a beautiful proposal, complete with wine, steak, and the diamond in that ring is so big that your eyes widened at the size of it.
But you sadly refused.
Cold. That’s the perfect word to describe how the night went. How a supposedly passionate night turned out to be. Even the bed is cold and for the first time, Xiaojun turned his back on you. But of course, you reach out to him not because it’s the right thing to do but because you love Xiaojun so much. You hugged him from behind and hope that he will hear you out, but he was the one who talked first.
“Not ‘never’, just ‘not now’ right? You love me right?” The sound of Xiaojun’s voice weakens you. He sounds so weak, sobbing, and sniffing as he waits for your answer.
“I do love you. Please don’t think that you’re lacking, it’s me. I’m not yet ready to be married- oh baby I’m sorry I put you through this” you hugged him tighter and cried with him but even though you’re both crying he never forgets to make you feel loved. He dried your tears and kissed both of your eyes and kept you close to him until you fall asleep.
After that fateful night, it is as if something shifted in your relationship and Xiaojun became sweeter, more mature, and you fight less. Of course, he was still heartbroken about you refusing to marry him, but he would rather be rejected than be stupid enough to leave you.
In time, the failed proposal became an inside joke to both of you. Like that one time, you wanted to have sex with him but he teased you instead of giving you what you want.
“Only married couples have sex baby. If only you said ‘yes’ back then, right?” He says while kissing your exposed collar bones and secretly unbuttoning his white dress shirt. You giggled at what he said decided to bite back, “try fucking the word ‘yes’ out of me tonight then” you said. And with quick hands, he undresses and you did the same.
A year already passed since you refused to marry him, and now that Christmas is just around the corner Xiaojun decided to try again. Hoping for the best of course, but he has a great feeling that you still haven’t changed your mind.
“If you’re happy with me marry me”
It was suddenly quiet.
“Huh?” you said, eyes wide when you saw that he’s not joking.
“I was planning to ask you to marry me once I convince you to go to bed now and sleep early. The ring is in our room, what do you say?” his hold to you tightens as he waits for your answer, eyes hopeful, heart racing.
“That's the crappiest proposal ever but I love it. Yes”
Who would have thought that married life was hard but you two managed it perfectly? Just as you thought that Xiaojun poured every bit of his love to you during the time that you were dating, well you’re wrong. For Xiaojun it’s not hard for him to pour more of his love into you because for him, you’re like a Russian doll that has different layers, different you, you’re like a leaf that changes color for the better and all he has to do is love every change.
“Well, I want a boy and girl,” he says while looking at the ceiling with you, arms wrapped around each other and talking about having a baby someday.
“Hmm. Okay. But with four years interval, please. Being a mom is hard. At least that’s what my friends told me-“
“But I doubt we will stop at having two kids, I think we will end up having five. I need to develop more games” his eyes grew big upon realizing that what he just said. You let out a laugh, turned to your husband, and kissed him because he’s too cute.
Everything was perfect. A year married and everything is smooth sailing. It’s like there’s no hint of you hating each other back then because you love each other deeply now.
Until one night, Xiaojun was late to pick you up from work and you waited for him while enjoying the falling snow and can’t wait to throw one at Xiaojun for being late. Everywhere was white and the snow is pretty thick that you didn’t see a car crossing the street at the same time as you saw your husband on the other side of the road.
It all happened too fast. One second he was smiling at you and the next thing he knew you’re lying in the middle of the road.
The accident put you in a short comatose but that’s not the worst part of it.
Xiaojun prayed for your recovery day and night, stayed with you at the hospital, and left work in the meantime to take care of you. One night, he was holding your hand tightly and looking at your wedding ring, whispering ‘i love yous’ and ‘please wake up now’ over and over again... until you actually did.
It was like a miracle when he heard you grunt, saw you move your head, and furrow your brows. He called the doctor as quickly as he can and watch them do their job, excited to finally talk to you, excited to tell you that he loves you and that he was so scared, he thought he lost you.
“Y/n, I am your doctor. You were hit by a car two days before Christmas under a snowy day after work”
It was quiet for a moment as the doctors and the nurses give you some time to let it all sink in. But the first thing that came out to your mouth is,
“Jae? Is Jaehyun alright?” You asked weakly.
‘Jae’ a word Xiaojun hasn’t heard from you for almost five years.
“I’m not sure who that man is, but your husband is here” your doctor looked at the man seated behind, and to your surprise, it was Xiaojun. And the moment you see Xiaojun’s face clearly under the soft light of your hospital room, your heart thumped so fast and you don’t know why it's doing that.
“H-he’s not my husband. He’s my boyfriend’s best friend. Can you please call Jaehyun?”
Xiaojun did not know what to do. Does he really have to call Jaehyun because you asked him to? But he’s your husband... “You can’t remember me? W-what am I? Or who am I?” Xiaojun asked softly, careful not to stress you but he is very frustrated and broken right now. “Y/n, I’m your husband. Were married”
You look at him. Long and hard as if you’re telling him that you don’t have time for his sick jokes, you were in an accident for goodness sake. But while you’re looking at your husband with disgust, Xiaojun never thought he would see that look you gave him again. After years and years of being together and happily married... now you’re back at being disgusted and annoyed with him.
“Get out”
You said when you saw your wedding ring and some pictures of you and him on the side table. Xiaojun followed your request with a heavy heart and you see it in his face. But everything is too much. You don’t know what’s heavy to take, you getting hit by a car or waking up with Xiaojun being your husband.
Later that night, Xiaojun came back to your room just to check up on you and found you sleeping soundly. What happened earlier hurt him but it will never change his love for you. With all his bravery he said the news to your family and admitted that he is in need of help. “She can’t remember me as his husband, I think it will be better if you guys come here and take it from here. I don’t want to pressure my wife” even his frustration is obvious thru the phone your mom thought.
The next day, you were glad to see your parents but not exactly glad to see Xiaojun arrive with them. He was quiet the whole time the doctors were explaining the things you need to do in order to regain your memories and your parents are talking and filling you up with the years you don’t remember. “By the time you can leave the hospital, it’s better if you go back to your normal routine,” the doctor said.
They were going on and on to how much of a good husband Xiaojun is, how he’s taken care of you for years, how you used to be so in love with him. But every word that your parents told you seemed so strange and new to you. How? Why? Why him? Are the questions you want to be answered now but your head hurts already. “I can’t take all this in one day” you asked them to stop. “It’s getting pretty late too, I think you guys should go home and we’ll do this… when I need it”
In the next few days, you asked Xiaojun to stop seeing you or visiting you anymore just so you can think of a way on how to deal with this at your own pace. You also told him that you will be staying with your parents from now and they can take care of you without him. “I’m your husband, I can’t just leave you Y/n” he said sternly.
“I know- Xiaojun I’m thankful that I have you now and you’re all honest to me and my parents like you. But I feel like I don’t know you right now, am I suppose to come to your house and play house with you?”
At this point, Xiaojun can feel his heartbreak into pieces. He can’t do anything. He thought that you asking him not to see you anymore was heartbreaking enough that he wanted to punch the wall. But when he saw you remove your wedding ring, that made him weak and hopeless.
"Don't leave me. Please don't do this"
“It’s not divorce, Xiaojun. Maybe I will remember you tomorrow or next week, who knows? But right now, I’m lost and I know that I have to take care of myself-“
“But I can take care of you. Think of this baby,” he came closer to you, desperately held you close to him, and surprisingly you liked it. Like your body remember Xiaojun’s warmth but your mind can’t. “We met again two years after you broke up with Jaehyun. Leaving Jaehyun was a decision you made for yourself. Then I came along and won your heart, we dated and now we're married” you watch tears in his eyes fall which you unconsciously dry with your thumb.
“And this is another decision I’m doing for myself. If you love me or care for me, you would let me go” you asked of him, with all the softness you have left for the man.
You gave the ring to him and thankfully he accepted it, although he begged a little more but, your decision is final. Knowing that what you’re doing right now is basically torture for him and it breaks your heart too, but what can you do? You don’t remember him as your husband, and you just know him as the person who annoys you the most.
All he can do now is wait for you to regain your memories and hope for the best. But even if you hate him again, he will still love you fiercely and wait for you to come in his arms.

“So you’re telling me that this guy taught you how to play pool, sat with you for three plus hours to help you with physics, made sexual comments, and then told you that he was ‘just being friendly’?” Xiaojun asks in disbelief.
“Yep.”
“What the heck?!” Ten interjects loudly.
“Do you do this when you hit on girls?” I ask Xiaojun.
Xiaojun opens his mouth to respond when Ten cuts in again. “That’s the wrong question, Y/N. He’d have to talk to girls in the first place.”
I try to mask a giggle as Xiaojun punches Ten in the arm. “It’s not like you’re doing any better on Tinder.”
“Excuse me, but I have a boyfriend that I am very much in love with.”
“You guys started dating like two weeks ago.”
“Whatever! Why didn’t you ever ask out Y/N?!”
There’s a deafening silence between all of us. My eyes shoot open and my jaw nearly drops as I look back and forth between the two boys. Xiaojun looks genuinely confused.
“Um, what?” I ask.
“Didn’t you two have a thing last year?” Ten asks us.
Xiaojun and I exchange a look of confusion before turning back to Ten and simultaneously answering with a very forceful, “No.”
“Oh, but I thought… because… I asked if Xiaojun wanted to go get dinner with me, but he was studying with you and I wasn’t invited so I thought that you two were…”
“We were studying for physics,” I say.
“Yeah… and?” Ten asks as if studying physics spontaneously creates romantic attractions.
Oh, right. That’s because it does in some cases. That was all of my sophomore year. I’m so stupid. How could I forget?
“You weren’t in physics with us, Ten,” Xiaojun responds.
“Oh, right… I wasn’t.”
Xiaojun blinks a few times and presses his lips together in a line before speaking again. “Anyway, there’s no way Jaemin didn’t know what he was doing. Guys know what they’re doing. I know when I’m flirting with someone.”
“When was the last time you even flirted with anyone?” Ten cuts in again. “Ooh, what about that girl from biology last year?”
“Shut up, Ten, this isn’t about me. And if you really must know, I did ask her out and we went to grab coffee, but I found out I wasn’t into her,” Xiaojun replies, annoyance lacing his tone. He turns back to me. “Y/N, would you still go out with him?”
With a heavy sigh, I contemplate for a moment. Though I’m upset about it, I have to admit that I’m still not really over it.
“If he asked, probably.”
“Do you guys still talk?”
“No, not exactly. I run into him around campus all the time though.”
Ten laughs. “What if he’s following you?”
“He’s the one who rejected me! Why would he follow me around?”
“Maybe he feels bad and wants to talk to you again.” Ten waves his hand in the air. “You know what? Forget him. Is there anyone new at your house that’s cute?”
“Um, there are a couple guys I think are kinda cute.”
Ten claps his hands together. “Perfect! Have you talked to them?”
“Once or twice.”
“Y/N! You live with these guys for the entire semester and you’ve only talked to them once or twice?!”
“One of them has a girlfriend!”
“So?! It’s cuffing season! You gotta find someone to cuddle with… and cry with since finals are coming up in a few weeks.”
“I am not interested in home wrecking,” I say firmly.
Ten groans. “You’re never going to find anyone at this rate.”
“Not everyone can be a Tinder fanatic like you, Ten,” Xiaojun says with a roll of his eyes.
Ten clicks his tongue and crosses his arms. “All I’m saying is that you two gotta put yourselves out there! No one’s gonna know you exist if you spend all day inside studying!”
“Speaking of which,” Xiaojun begins, “don’t you have an assignment due at midnight, Ten?”
“Oh shit! Yeah!” Ten pulls his sleeve up to check his watch and then waves his hand down. “It’s fine. It’s only five.”
“Actually, I better get going,” I say. “It’s getting dark.”
“We’ll walk you home,” says Xiaojun.
Tumblr media
“Hey, have you guys ever had your feet sucked?” Ten suddenly asks as we walk up the slow steeping hill towards my house.
Xiaojun and I stop mid-step and slowly turn around to face Ten. “What?”
“Okay, guys, hear me out.” Ten puts his hands up defensively. “I’m just saying, but if someone ever offers to do it, you should take them up on that offer.”
Xiaojun and I exchange a look of disgust before turning back to Ten.
“What?” we repeat.
“Yeah!” Ten responds adamantly, his eyes wide.
My mouth is agape as I look at him with great concern. Ten looks perfectly serious about his stance on… whatever this is.
“Xiaojun, why are you roommates with Ten?” I ask, keeping my gaze on Ten who has a very stupid, yet innocent expression on his face.
“Believe me, I ask myself that every day.”
Ten runs up to us and throws his arms around our shoulders. “Aren’t you so glad we sat next to each other in biology last year?”
“I would’ve been fine if it were just Xiaojun, but it sounds like you two come as a package deal that Xiaojun never agreed to.”
“You got that right,” Xiaojun responds.
I wiggle out of Ten’s hold around my shoulders. “So, if I’m hearing you correctly, it sounds like you speak from experience?” I ask.
“Okay, okay, hear me out. It feels really good,” Ten says quickly. “Okay, so there was this guy, Sungho –”
“Sungho?!” Xiaojun interjects in disbelief. “Like our roommate, Sungho?!”
“Uh, yeah…”
Xioajun covers his face with his hands. “Oh my God.”
“Anyway,” Ten continues as if this is nothing out of the ordinary. “Sungho and I got kinda drunk one night and we both came home and I got into bed and noticed that someone was in my bed. It turns out it was Sungho and we were both laying opposite of each other. So his feet were next to my head and my feet were next to his head. So then he grabbed my foot and started sucking on my toes and yeah…”
I turn to look at Xiaojun who is looking at Ten completely horrified.
“I am never borrowing your socks,” Xiaojun says.
“I think the socks are the least of your worries…” I say.
“Hey! Don’t knock it ‘til you try it!”
“Pass,” we both say sternly.
Tumblr media
“Why can’t I find a boyfriend?!” Jia laments as she slams her head back onto her pillow.
I stare up at the ceiling as Jia props herself up to look over at me from her bed. “How do you find a boyfriend, huh?”
Tilting my head to look up at her, I press my lips together, unsure of an answer to her question. “I wouldn’t know. I’ve never had one.”
She huffs and falls back onto her pillow again. “I’m nice and smart and can cook. I would take good care of him! How come boys don’t ask me out?”
“Do you even talk to any boys?”
“No.” I chuckle. “That might a problem if you’re trying to find a boyfriend and don’t talk to boys.”
“You have lots of guy friends. How do you do it?”
“I’ve always just gotten along better with guys, but I’m also not trying to date any of the ones I’m friends with.”
“Do you just… go up and talk to them?”
“Sometimes. If I’m in class, some of the ones around me start talking to me.”
“What do you talk to them about?”
“Nothing really. Just things about class or things that have happened. You can just talk to them like you would any of your other friends.”
“I don’t know what to do because when I try to talk to guys, I don’t know what to say. I try to talk to them about school, but they don’t really say anything.” She groans again. “There aren’t any cute boys in my class. And the semester is almost over!
The semester is almost over and I’m still hung up on some stupid guy. Way to go, Y/N. Feelings are so stupid.
“Do you think I need to do my hair and makeup like you do every day?” she asks.
I frown. “No. That’s something I do because I like to do it. You need to do what you’re comfortable with.”
“You get asked out a lot, right?” Jia queries.
“No, not really.”
“But you always have all of these guys that like you! Like I’m pretty sure that Jaemin from last year liked you.”
There’s a twinge of pain in my chest, like my heart has been rubbed against a cheese grater upon hearing his name unexpectedly. I’ve never actually told Jia that I liked Jaemin, though I’m sure she could tell. And I certainly never told her how I’ve been feeling for the past couple months and why I’m always cooped up in the library or our room.
“Yeah, I don’t know about Jaemin…”
“Did he ever ask you out?”
“No.”
“Did he ever tell you he liked you?”
“No.”
She sighs again. “So what happened?”
“Honestly, I have no idea.”
And I’ve been trying to figure it out for the past couple months to no avail.
“This is so bad!” she exclaims. “If you don’t know what happened with Jaemin, how could I have a chance?!”
“It takes time. If you really wanted to, I guess you could try Tinder or something… Ten found his boyfriend on there.”
“Tinder?” The word rolls off her tongue like she’d eaten something bitter. “But isn’t Tinder mostly for hookups?”
“There are other dating apps out there.”
“Mm, I don’t know,” she responds solemnly before changing the subject. “Are you going to the library again tomorrow?”
“For a little bit and then I’m meeting Suji to get ice cream for the end of the semester.”
Tumblr media
The leaves on the trees had mostly fallen to the ground. Orange and brown mosaics filled the black asphalt. The continuous crackling and crunching of the leaves filled the air as students walked and biked over them. November would be coming to a close in a few weeks and I spent the whole semester locking myself in the library as a distraction from my guy problems. I felt pathetic admitting to myself that Jaemin occupied my mind that much. I was known as the callous one in high school that didn’t have any emotions. I shouldn’t be this affected. It was like a repeat of Lucas with an ending that made zero sense. Only this time, I didn’t have a third party to give me any clarity. Jaemin was a situation where I would never have the full story and I would have to learn to live with that.
I sigh. At least coffee ice cream will always be there for me.
Suji and I grab a seat on a bench outside the university café.
“I’m going to miss this,” Suji says.
“College?”
Suji is laughing like I said something absolutely ridiculous. “No, not college, silly. I’ll miss getting strawberry ice cream with you and complaining about life.”
“Oh, of course.” I chuckle lightly. “How silly of me. Ice cream with Suji is definitely one of the main highlights. We have one more semester to enjoy it. And then I guess I’ll have to get ice cream on my own next year and pretend you’re here.”
“You’re graduating early, aren’t you?”
“Yeah, a semester early. I suppose I’ll only have to suffer without you for one semester!” I take another bite of my coffee ice cream. “Have you been applying for jobs?”
She lets out a long and defeated sigh. “Yeah.” There’s a pause as she pushes the pink cream around her cup. “I don’t know what I’m doing.”
“What do you mean?”
“Do you know what you want to be?” she suddenly asks.
“Like, career-wise? Uh, well, the plan is to go to grad school, get a PhD, and become a researcher. Why?”
“I don’t know what I want to be. I don’t know what I like.”
“Aren’t you like… a triple major?”
“Yeah, public health, public policy, and sociology.”
“Do you like those subjects?”
“I do. I’ve been applying to HR jobs because that’s all I’ve been able to get. I thought about grad school, but because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do at the beginning, I took a bunch of random classes that I didn’t do super well in. So my GPA is kinda low to get into any good programs.”
We’re both silent for a moment, watching several students in suits walk up the steps to pose for headshots in front of the library.
“I’m scared,” Suji says quietly.
I turn to look at her as she gnaws on her lip.
“I don’t know what I want. I don’t really know what I like. I’m graduating in a semester and it feels like I’m just going to get a job and be stuck there for the rest of my life.”
I continue to stay quiet, silently encouraging her to continue.
“My older sister is a doctor. She went to med school right after college and has always seemed to know what she wanted. But I don’t and I don’t know how to figure it out.”
“I’m pretty sure she felt the same way you do. You’re only twenty-one. You have plenty of time to figure this out. You have the ability to change jobs, you know? You can choose to go back to school later on. You don’t have to have it all figured out now.”
“It sure feels that way – what with everyone getting big tech firm or consulting jobs.” She lets out another long sigh. “You know what I hate?”
“What?”
“Everyone always says they want to be ‘happy’ and I feel like that’s a cop out answer. Like yeah, I want to be happy, but what is it specifically that’s going to make me happy? What if… what if my sister went to med school and in her last year, she decided she didn’t want to do medicine anymore? Then what do you do?! You’re too far in to quit, but then you’re gonna get stuck doing something you don’t like.”
It’s a scary thought being a senior in college. It’s not the same as being a senior in high school. There’s a genuine and valid worry of needing to figure out what career to pursue and how to take care of yourself. And because of external pressure, there’s this feeling of impending doom that if you don’t become a successful, six-figure salary, VP or CEO or whatever, by the age of twenty-five, that’s it. You’re done. End of story. You’ve failed.
You’re supposed to be constantly working towards something.
“Everyone around me is getting a job or going to grad school and I feel like I’m doing nothing. Look at all the CS majors. They all have these six-figure salary jobs right out of college and I’m just… I don’t even know what I’m doing. I don’t know if I want to go to grad school and if I do, I should probably figure it out soon because I don’t want to be in school when I’m forty!”
It’s a fear of being perceived that you’re wasting time.
“I wish I had an answer for you because I worry about the same thing,” I respond.
Yeah, I had plans to attend grad school and dedicate the next five years of my life to pursuing a career I was fairly sure I liked. But with every day that passed, attending classes I didn’t fully throw myself into, obtaining internships out of obligation rather than actually wanting to do them, and never wanting to engage in conversation about my field of work, I found myself in the same boat as Suji. Pursing a degree in a field I sort of liked because I didn’t really know what I wanted to do either.
Tumblr media
There’s a loud fist pounding on the table followed by a triumphant, “Ha! I won!” Hendery, Johnny, Chaeyoung, Shotaro, and Sungchan are playing a card game in the dining room. Their heads turn upon hearing the clacking of my boots on the wood floor of the foyer.
“Hey, Y/N!” Johnny greets. “You want to play with us?”
“What are you playing?” I ask as I walk towards them.
“Exploding Kittens,” says Shotaro.
“I don’t know how to play,” I admit.
“We’ll teach you!” Chaeyoung says.
After a few games, I found out that I was very bad at Exploding Kittens. Perhaps it was because I wasn’t totally invested in actually trying to win, but nevertheless, I lost every game.
The bright side to all of this was that I made new friends. Shotaro and Sungchan were roommates that lived across from me. Both were CS majors. Chaeyoung, a data science major, lived a few doors down from me and she was kind enough to share some chocolate truffles with me. Hendery, a statistics and CS double major, was Johnny’s roommate and he had a tendency to make use of SAT words when something unpleasant happened.
And Johnny… well Johnny was still really cute and funny. He was fun to play with and tried to play nicely since his turn was before mine. He intentionally tried to keep me in the game.
“I’m going to go make dinner,” Johnny announces before getting up and walking into the kitchen.
“I gotta go upstairs and finish the CS lab,” Hendery says.
Seeing that most of the others are leaving, I go to grab my backpack when I catch Shotaro’s eyes widen as if he wants to say something urgent.
“Y/N, do you want to continue playing?” Shotaro says quickly.
I pause and when I turn to fully look at him, he’s smiling and suddenly that weird feeling I had experienced when I first met Jaemin overcomes me.
Oh no.
“Um… I’m going to go upstairs to put some things away, but I’ll come back down a little later to study…”
Tumblr media
While I’m upstairs, I open my laptop and pull up Facebook. To my surprise, there’s already a friend request from Shotaro. I chuckle to myself and accept.
My next immediate thought went to Johnny.
I think it’s okay to add him on Facebook now. Right? It’s not creepy. I know him. I’ve talked to him a few times. It should be fine. He knows your name.
I bite my bottom lip and hover my cursor over the “Add Friend” button.
Why am I making this so difficult? Shotaro added me already. He obviously didn’t hesitate and his reasoning was probably, “Oh, we’ve played card games together now! We’re friends! Easy, peasy.”
I press the track pad and let out a sigh of relief.
“What were you doing downstairs?” Jia suddenly asks.
“I was playing Exploding Kittens.”
“Oooh. With Johnny?” she asks teasingly.
“Well, yes, Johnny was there. The other people are nice too. I like Chaeyoung.”
“But Johnny has a girlfriend, right?”
I shrug. “I think so. I didn’t ask about it.”
Right then, I receive a notification. Johnny Suh has accepted your friend request.
I’ll admit, there’s a slight excitement in my chest upon seeing the notification, but I make sure to keep my expression neutral.
“I met Shotaro too,” I say, switching the subject.
“Oh yeah, I’ve talked to Shotaro. He’s taking Chinese and tried to talk to me.” She starts snickering to herself. “He’s okay. His accent is a little funny.”
I nod at her comment and when I turn back to my laptop, there’s a blinking chat box on the bottom right of the screen.
Johnny: hi!
Oh?
I stare at the message for a moment. I shouldn’t be overthinking it, but really, who immediately messages someone they just added on Facebook unless it’s for some school or work related thing?
Me: Hi
J: did you have fun playing earlier?
Me: Yeah! I’m not very good, but it was fun
J: I tried to help you too!
Me: I’m sorry! I tried!
J: I won’t go so easy on you next time! 😉
“Who are you talking to?”
My head snaps up. “Hm? Oh I’m talking to Johnny.”
“What? Johnny?!” Jia exclaims. She blinks several times and quirks her eyebrow. “Did he add you or something?”
“Uh, I added him and he accepted my friend request and started messaging me.”
Her forehead creases, almost as if she’s a bit miffed that Johnny didn’t add her and start talking to her instead. A silence overcomes her and her gaze falls to the ground. I turn back to my laptop.
Me: That’s fine! I’ll just have to beat you at a different game instead lol
J: oh yeah?! what game?
Me: I mean, I’m pretty good at archery if you’re still up for that
J: I feel like you’ll cheat
J: or you’ll shoot me so I can’t shoot back
Me: *gasp*
Me: You know, I’m pretty sure that’s a crime…
J: lol
“What are you talking about?” Jia suddenly says. “You’re smiling a lot.”
Shit. I am? Good grief. Why are you even watching me? Aren’t you studying?
“About the card game we were playing earlier.”
She frowns. “Was the game really that funny?”
“It was all right. I was bad at it, but it was fun.”
J: what are you doing?
Me: I’m in my room. Was cleaning up. Might come back downstairs to study
J: oh yeah you should come back down
J: hendery and i are working on a CS project
J: i’ll share my cookies with you
Me: What kind of cookies?
J: chips ahoy chewy
Me: 😮 I might really have to come back down
J: lol ya
J: oh are you busy tomorrow?
Me: Uh, just studying, why?
J: do you want to go grocery shopping with me?
I blink several times. Grocery shopping? He wants to go grocery shopping?
That’s an awfully strange request.
There’s something nudging me in the back of my mind.
It’s whispering, “Psst, doesn’t he have a girlfriend? If he does, why is he doing this? Is this another Jaemin situation?”
I have no idea, but I’m curious.
Me: Sure lol
I’ll bite.

He checked his teeth in the mirror. He puckered his lips and stretched them with his fingers to make sure his facial expressions would appear right. He picked the lint from his jacket. His shoes were too big for his feet, but they were all he had. He practiced his speech on the way there, his tongue hitting the front of his teeth to pronounce the words correctly. He felt like he could pass on without a hitch.
When he got to the office, the line was over fifty people long. Each man before him wore a similar suit: lint-less and grey, void of any personality. A pass only went to those that could blend in with the horde. He saw a man a few heads away wearing an orange pocket square that he knew would be flagged. You couldn’t draw attention to yourself. Doing so would result in an on-the-spot fail.
He checked the time. He looked back and saw the line growing longer behind him. The whir of machines in the office made him feel tired. He checked the time again. He tried to shake away a fleck of dirt from the top of his shoe. He moved up a few feet. He yawned.
As he got closer to the front, he could hear voices. The nerves in his stomach were eating him from the inside out. He adjusted his glasses and looked behind him, once again. The smile he gave the man behind him did not change the mans face. Everyone in the line was miserable, waiting, exhausted down to the bone. When he faced the front, a scream pierced through the air. Most of the men in line did not react, but he couldn’t stop himself from jumping in the air in surprise. The heart in his chest was trying to see its way out of his body. He had heard rumors of what happened to people who jumped the line, each one more horrific than the next. He never wanted to be on the receiving end of one of those punishments.
“This is insane.” he muttered underneath his breath.
He craned his neck to see any commotion, but the front of the line looked miles long. He watched the people sitting at their desks in the vast office, their eyes on their computer screens as their fingers clicked away furiously. Any interruption would upset the system, he knew. Any interruption would result in another fail, or worse.
“Hey,” a voice whispered behind him. “Hey, pss. Psss, hey.”
He turned around to see the man, one person behind him, vying for his attention. The man was the only one stepping out of line, his body too animated, and his voice too jarring. He ignored the man and turned his attention back to the front. He had to keep focused. He heard the “Pss.” again, but he was good at staying disciplined. It was best not to draw too much attention to yourself he repeated to himself. It was best to fly underneath the radar, or they could find any reason to indict a fail.
His time finally came, and he was too scared to look at anyone but the woman at the front, a large podium hiding her body. She was pretty, not a hair out of place, and a uniform that looked just as drab as his suit. She looked bored by her job, her ruby red lips firmly set into a grim line. He wondered what it would be like sitting here day after day, your only job deciding which people get a chance, and which people don’t.
“Name.” she said.
“Xiaojun.” he said.
“Class?”
Xiaojun brought out his Class T badge and presented it to her. It was the lowest class possible, but he presented it as if it were wrapped in gold foil. She took the badge and scanned it before handing it back to him. She did not care what class he was in.
“Reason for passing through?” she asked.
“Work,” he said. “Business, I mean.”
Since it was Xiaojun’s very first time passing through, he didn’t know what to expect. The less you said, the better. It was hard to get to the other side if you had marks on your badge, if you were bad, or too talkative. Luckily, Xiaojun’s history was squeaky clean, and he could keep quiet as a mouse. He was proud of himself.
“Your return date is three Sundays from now,” she said. She stamped a few pages on her podium and looked up at him, her eyes not really seeing him. “Not returning on that exact day will result in your death. Do you understand?”
“Yes.”
She continued, “ Any and all decisions on the other side are yours and yours only. You break the rules, you’ll be removed indefinitely. Now, if you go into the room on the right, someone will attend to you. Have a safe trip and remember where you belong.”
Xiaojun looked to his right to see a plain white door with a small window waiting for him, a door he would have sworn wasn’t there just moments ago. He turned back to the woman to ask a question, but she was already ushering the next man forward. The noisy man behind him was desperately trying to get the woman's attention, and people were starting to notice. Before Xioajun walked into the room, he saw several of the desk people tear their eyes from their screens. Interruptions weren’t uniform, and would result in failure.
“Hurry up,” a voice said, pulling him forward. “You’re not the only one here today.”
The room was empty except for a man waiting by a white, brick wall. He was in a suit so black Xiaojun felt he was getting ready to be sucked into a black hole. His blonde hair was parted severely down the middle of his scalp, the ends just touching the tips of his ears. There wasn’t a bead of perspiration on his forehead or upper lip, which wasn’t something Xiaojun could say about himself. Xiaojun approached the man, ready to extend his class T badge if need be. He was too afraid to look the man in the eyes, but Xiaojun was sure he was used to how people looked at him. The murky red of his pupils was hard not to notice, and even more disturbing was the way they looked Xiaojun up and down, as if his eyes were an x-ray machine. The man swept his eyes from the bottom of his feet to the top of his head, all while giving him a look of distaste at what he saw.
“Your skills,” the man said. “Show me.”
Xiaojun wasn’t used to showing off what he could do for those who didn’t need it. In the grand scheme of things, he felt useless. So many others could do great things, but his skill didn’t warrant a lot of respect. But Xiaojun stepped up anyway, his hands gesturing out like a circus performer.
“I need one of your hands,” he said, keeping his voice gentle so as not to alert the man of any danger.
The man, whose name badge read TEN, held out his hand without hesitation. He had seen his share of skills walk through the door. Most skills were quite trivial, but each one, in Ten’s eyes, was important in their world. Ten giving Xiaojun his hand meant that he could document every abuse of power in the other world. Ten would remember Xiaojun, cataloging him into the back of his mind for future reference.
“This might hurt a little.” Xiaojun said.
Before Xiaojun could take hold of Ten’s hand, a siren sounded. Through the small window, Xiaojun could see the noisy man being dragged away by two hulking figures. The noisy man’s screams were loud, the sound of his fists connecting with muscle too unsettling for Xiaojun. The tantrum the noisy man was having made the atmosphere grow darker. The energy was shifting, and Xiaojun felt scared down to his core. Just as he was getting ready to face Ten and ask him for directions on what to do or how to help, Ten jerked his hand away like it was Xiaojun who was causing a scene.
“Lucky you. Demonstration over,” Ten said. “Cross through. Return three Sundays from now. Failure to come back will result in the death of yourself and everyone you know.”
Ten ran out of the room and straight towards the fight, his red eyes the only thing Xiaojun could pick out from the crowd. Xiaojun looked at the blank wall before him. There was a ripple in its face, one that beckoned him forward. It would take a few seconds for him to cross over, to finally secure his first turn into the other world. Instead, Xiaojun went to the window, his nosiness making it difficult for him to break away. The other world could wait. He tip-toed so he could see everything and stuck his nose up against the glass. On the other side of the window, Ten was standing before a bunch of people who had finally controlled the situation in their favor. The noisy man was still freaking out, the veins in his neck moving like worms. The ones assessing the damage were all talking, and everyone around them was observing the situation closely. Not many people looked as fearful as Xiaojun felt. It was his first time witnessing what happened when you didn’t follow the rules.
“What will they do to you?” Xiaojun asked out loud.
The noisy man dropped to his knees. The sound of his knee caps hitting the hard floor was enough distraction. The men holding him loosened their grip for a second, but it was enough for the noisy man to get to his feet and hurl his body towards the room Xiaojun occupied. At the last minute, Xiaojun moved out of the way and backed into the corner. The door to the room flew open and banged against the opposite wall leaving a dent. The noisy man stepped through and locked eyes with Xiaojun. The veins in his neck were breaking through his skin like tentacles that threatened to wrap around Xiaojun’s throat if he got in the way. With cold fear running through his veins, Xiaojun pressed his body against the wall.
“I won’t hurt you.” Xiaojun said to the noisy man.
“But I will.”
A man entered the room. Xiaojun had seen him before. His name was Jaehyun, and he was someone everyone knew about but no one ever got to see with their own two eyes. Before the noisy man could breach the brick wall barrier and escape, Jaehyun brought his hand up before him and snapped his fingers once. A loud static crack was sent through the air, and the noisy man burst into fine white powder faster than Xiaojun could blink. The powder was all over Xiaojun, in his hair, and on his perfectly lint-free suit. He coughed some up, and blinked in disbelief. Meanwhile, Jaehyun was completely clean, and he was breathing heavily, as if obliterating a man was a sexual release for him.
“One down,” Ten said, stepping into the room. “So many more to go.”
Jaehyun put his arm down by his side and gave a dismissal look to Xiaojun when he saw him still standing there in the corner, like a coward. He swiveled around to Ten and touched him on his shoulder.
“Johnny and I are coming by later,” Jaehyun said. “Have someone clean this mess up. We have a lot of work to do. I’m not dragging this on the bottom of my brand new shoes. ”
“Is he still out there in the world?” Ten asked. “I’m surprised no one’s caught him yet. But, I suppose, it is like trapping smoke in a bottle.”
Jaehyun looked at Xiaojun, turned back to Ten and nodded. “Soon enough.”
Xiaojun stared at Jaehyun’s back as he walked out of the room. Ten followed, his red eyes serving Xiaojun a brief glance of disapproval.  They kept talking, their voices gradually tapering off as distance was put between him and them. Left alone in the room, Xiaojun brushed some of the white dust from his hair. He felt like he was going to be sick whenever he remembered that it was someone else’s remains.
“You have twenty seconds to vacate,” a cool voice over the loudspeaker said. “Choosing not to step through will result in a-”
“-A failure,” Xiaojun said. “Yes, I know.”
Xiaojun stepped up to the barrier and touched his hand to it. The wall rippled again, the white brick disfiguring, as if it could feel his energy getting ready to be sucked into it. He moved his fingers into the other side and felt each one stuck in what felt like a cold jelly.
“Okay,” he said. “No fear. Maybe, a little fear.”
Xiaojun’s arm went through the portal first. He pushed his chest through and walked into it, the black veil swallowing him up. When he came through the other side, it felt like hours had passed by. He walked out into the sunlight and looked around. He was in a fast food parking lot, and someone was honking their car horn.
“Get out of the fucking way!” the man in the car yelled. He slammed his meaty fist down on the car horn and let it blare until Xiaojun moved out of the way.
“Nice place.” Xiaojun muttered.
He settled himself on a grassy hill, watching as a nearby seagull munched on discarded food. On this side, Xiaojun noticed that his suit was completely clean. There was no white powder on his body, no proof of what he had been through at all. He looked at the sun and held up his hands to block it from view. When he was done eagerly taking in everything around him, he shoved his hands into his pockets and went on his way.

You didn’t say anything. You watched a last wisp of black fog fly into Haechan’s ear and disappear. If you could stomach that, you could stomach anything. You looked him in his eyes, any uncertainty slipping away. You belonged there. Your eyes swept over his body, at his suit and shiny shoes. You noticed that he had two arms, two legs, two eyes, a pair of lips and a nose. There were no teeth like a monster would have, and no red eyes staring back at you. In fact, he was almost too normal, too human-looking. You resisted the urge to pull at his cheeks and stretch them until he formed into something else. Haechan peered into a mirror hanging on the wall and straightened his tie. He made eye contact with you through the reflection in the mirror. His gaze made you feel sleepy, so you sat on the edge of the bed and slumped your shoulders forward.
“There’s something wrong with me.” you said.
Haechan ran his hand through his hair and smiled. “That wasn’t the conversation starter I was expecting.”
Sluggishly, you gave your attention to the motel room door. You anticipated someone coming through it, splinters of wood all over the carpet, and a bullet through your heart with your name on it. You imagined people in military gear stepping in, their boots forcing the carpet to sink in, and how they’d step over your lifeless body. At that moment, Haechan snapped his fingers in front of your face, and you looked up at him. You looked but you didn’t see. You couldn’t focus for too long. You assumed you were in shock, but shock felt an awful lot like horror. He knelt before you and kept waving his hands in front of your face. Eventually, your eyes started following his fingers as they moved from left to right.
“I remember.” you said.
Haechan groaned and rested his palms flat on his knees. He picked himself up off the floor to give you some space. You thought he would pluck a beer from the mini fridge and take a long swig, but he didn’t. You thought about asking him to give you one, but you needed to be on alert. You were already failing.
A memory of that day flashed through your mind. You looked around the room at the damage that was no longer done. It looked like the room was never destroyed. So much felt different, yet so much felt the same. Being around Haechan again felt like you had never left him.
“What do you remember?” he asked. His voice was soft, soothing. He pulled out a chair and sat down. He leaned back, stuck his hand into his pockets and pulled out his knife. It clattered onto the desktop beside him, spinning around in circles on its face. He had hardly touched it.
“What’s that for?” you asked.
“Protection.” he said.
“For who? Me or you?” you asked.
Haechan just smiled and repeated his earlier question, “What do you remember?”
“Everything,” you said, your eyes concentrating on the spinning knife. You remembered the initials: L.D. “I didn’t, originally. I woke up the day after feeling like it was a dream. It wasn’t a dream.”
“Maybe you’re dreaming now,” he said.
You glared at him and blinked slowly. You continued. “ I couldn’t put any of the pieces together, but I knew they existed. I could feel them, just out of sequence. I was convinced they had happened the way I saw them, and that I was crazy. I couldn’t think about it too hard, or try to remember. If I did, I began to feel my throat closing in on itself.”
You touched your hand to your throat, tightening your fist and squeezing. The knife stopped spinning, and it was pointing directly at you. Haechan picked up the knife and held it in the palm of his hand. Your eyes were brought downwards, to a backpack laying on the floor. It was the kind of backpack you’d take hiking, but this one wasn’t full of anything but clothing. He placed his foot in front of it so you wouldn’t fixate on it.
“You know how this all sounds, right?” he asked.
“Yes,” you said. “About as crazy as watching you turn into a cloud of smoke and not freaking out about it.”
“Fair enough,” he said. “Continue.”
”There is nothing else to say,” you said. “ I filled the days up as best I could. It didn’t really feel like I was there, just moving through like a...like a..stranger in my own home. The nightmares wouldn’t stop.”
“What kind of nightmares?” he asked, his interest perking up. Up until then he was listening to you, humoring you. He leaned forward to hear you better.
“Ones with monsters who have big teeth,” you said. “Sometimes they were people I knew. Mostly my therapist. I always woke up before I was eaten alive.”
“Were you scared?”
You looked up at him. He didn’t have a notebook in his hand, but his position was the spitting image of your therapist. Seeing him like that irritated you, and he could tell. Haechan stood up and kicked the chair back into place. It was too late. You could feel the red hot anger jabbing itself through your ribs.
“Was I scared?” you asked. “I almost died. You almost got me killed, and then I go home and dream these horrific things. Of course I’m scared, Haechan. I don’t know who you are. I don’t even know what you are.  I go for two weeks without remembering anything but you, and then things start happening one after the other when I’m just trying to survive. I was attacked. In broad daylight. In my own home.”
“Attacked?” he asked.
You had him on edge, and you liked the way it felt. Your words roused him and wiped any smirk from his face. He looked towards the door like you were earlier, his eyes on the knob. For the first time, you noticed the industrial-sized locks all along the back of the door. Each one was different, most of them thick. You didn’t remember either of you locking any of them and yet, they were all in place. It felt like the only thing that existed was you and him in the room, nothing else.
“There was a pizza man.” you said.
“What did he look like?”  he asked, tearing his eyes away from the door. “Teeth, like in your dreams?”
You blinked. “I think so. Actually, I don’t really remember. He was chasing me down the stairs. I made it outside and he disappeared. I hailed a cab. I knew I had to find you, I knew the answer was to come back here. I was waiting at the curb, I looked up and- ”
“-were you followed by anyone?” he said. “ I need you think really hard. It will be difficult to remember, but you need to try.”
“No,” you said.  “The only person I came into contact with was the taxi driver who, by the way, hates this place.”
Haechan went to the window and looked out. The sun was setting. It didn’t even feel like you had been there that long. He took the string from the side of the curtain and pulled it. The thick curtains came together, meeting in the middle with a kiss.
“Are you keeping someone out?” you asked, your eyes on the door. “Or are you keeping me in?”
Haechan didn’t answer you. He was going around the room touching things and picking them up, just to put them back down again. He opened the bathroom door and looked inside. Before he could shut it, you put your hand on the door to keep it open. The inside of the bathroom looked different from when you had last left it two weeks ago. It looked like it had just been redone, with a brand new tub, window, and an updated toilet and sink.
“I think we need to have that conversation now.” you said, looking at him. “What the fuck is going on?”
Haechan closed the bathroom door. He went over to the fridge, opened it, and took out the long awaited beer. Only, when he took it out, he threw it against the wall, causing the bottle to explode. You covered your face and head with your arms, not daring to look up again until you could hear his breathing become even again. A shard of glass flew by your face. You focused your eyes on it as it made a turn and hovered in mid-air. Many fragments followed, moving in slow motion to join the first one in the middle. They all spun in circles, like a tornado of glass, until they mended itself back into the fully intact bottle it had been before Haechan obliterated it. Before the bottle could drop back to the ground and shatter again, he caught it and set it on a table.
“I’m not from this world,” he said. “I’m not like you.”
“What does that even mean?” you asked. “Are you from outer space? Are you from Europe?”
“You know what I mean,” he said. “Everything you’ve witnessed is real. The monsters. Me. The taxi driver’s fear is authentic, and there is a good reason for that fear. This motel has a portal to the other side in it. How you’ve been feeling for the last two weeks? It’s residual energy from that portal. You’re not supposed to remember me, or anything about this place. What I am, where I come from, it’s a little hard for humans in your world to grasp. It’s affecting you. You feel tired, right? You feel like you can’t think straight? That’s my world trying to protect itself from you. “
You tried to digest everything he was saying, but the grogginess was palpable. All you could see at the front of your mind was the glass. You remembered how the motel looked before you left it, and how it looked now. Haechan made that happen. You opened your mouth to speak but closed it again. Your thoughts were hard to collect and bring together. When you opened your mouth once more, your voice was raspy. You said, “Where do you come from? Is it... Hell?”
Haechan looked offended. You registered the hurt in his eyes before it disappeared. He tried to recover with a clearing of his throat. Before he spoke again, he reached into his pocket and handed you his knife, urging you to take it with his eyes. You didn’t.  “Not hell,” he said. “That’s a very different place. I’m not evil. Take the knife, if you don’t trust me.”
“If you’re not from hell,” you said, ignoring the knife. “Where are you from? What is it like there?”
“It’s another world, sort of like a dimension. It’s almost like this world, only a little different. Time is different, “ he said. “Everyone’s...special.”
“Special? Can they turn into a rolling fog too,?” you snorted. Your voice was on the edge of hysteria. You were trying to make light of the situation, trying to convince yourself that what you were hearing was a prank.
“Some of us,” he said. “Everyone's skill is different. Some people have one thing they can do, others have more. Some use it for good, some for bad. Power runs adjacent.”
“Do all of you turn into monsters?” you asked. “Is that what you really look like underneath that handsome face.”
“The monsters are...” he began to say before he changed direction. “ You think I’m handsome?”
“No,” you said, covering yourself.  “Don’t change the subject.”
“Anyway,” Haechan continued. “You don’t have to worry about them. They are bottom feeders, and I won’t let them hurt you. It’s the ones that look like me you have to worry about.”
“Like those men who came for you that day?” you asked. “They didn’t sound like they wanted you alive.”
Haechan nodded. “If they find me, I’m as good as dust. One snap and it all ends. They’ll never stop looking for me. Usually, I keep moving to avoid them, but something..or someone..has been keeping me here.”
The way his eyes bore holes into yours, the way he cocked his head to the side, made your skin burn underneath your clothes.
“What did you do to have them hunting for you?” you asked.
“I never went back,” he said. “They don’t like it if you don’t come back. ”
“Why not?” you asked.
“Because this isn’t my world,” he said. “As you can see, if people know about us, it puts us in danger. Less time means less time for something to happen that’s out of our control. “
“Why risk it in the first place?” you asked. “If other dimensions exist, why come to this shitty existence?”
He shrugged. “You’re all easy to use. Your bodies. Your minds. You’re play things. For a lot of us- the normal ones- there is something about humanity we admire. The chance to be normal is one hell of a drug. It’s very hard to resist once you’ve had a taste.”
You were aware that he was still holding the knife out for you to take. You took it from him and tossed it onto the bed. It bounced on the mattress and drew both of your eyes to it. You stared at the handle where his initials were. You met Haechan’s eyes and felt a pull towards him. As he was opening up to you, the sleepy feeling threatening to pull you under was starting to lift. Your mind felt more clear.
“Telling you all of this has repercussions, “ he said. “I don’t know if you want to throw that knife away so easily.”
“I can handle myself.”
You went to him, crossing the room without fear. You reached your hand out to touch his cheek but thought better of it at the last minute. When you went to pull away, Haechan caught your hand and rested his cheek gently against it. His skin was soft and warm. He felt human. The tender moment lasted only a few seconds before he rejected it and moved away from you.
“You’re going to get yourself killed,” he said. “If they’re made aware that you know about any of this, they’ll hunt you down. If you think the hunt for me is scary, imagine them hunting a life they have little regard for. You don’t want your family nailing missing posters for the rest of their lives.”
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t freaking out right now,” you said. “But I would also be lying if I said I didn’t feel safe around you. You feel different.”
“I’m the most wanted man in both worlds right now,” you said. “Be careful of what you say.”
You licked your lips. “Yeah? And what kind of man is that? What can you do? Is your power limited to what I saw?”
Haechan laughed. There was no lightness in it, only darkness. He sneered and crossed his arms. You wished for the tender moment back, for him to reveal what kind of humanity he picked up while living in your world. Instead, he let the laughter bubble out of his throat until it spilled over, and there would be no putting it back together again.
“There is still so much I don’t understand.” you said, trying to get him to stay open. “You’re telling me that this hell dimension exists, that there is a portal to it right in this very motel, and that the people in that dimension have special powers. They want you dead. They’ll want me dead because I know the big secret. I need more answers, Haechan.“
“Your world,” he said. “-this human monstrosity- is just one place of many. It exists separated only by a thin veil. You can see it, if you pay attention. The glimmer of heat in the street on a hot day. Diners at 3 a.m. with pies in their showcases, whose slices never really disappear.  Have you ever seen something move out of the corner of your eye? That feeling creeping up your spine, those eyes watching you while you sleep. Those sleep paralysis creatures you think are demons are real. The things that move across this world if you truly paid attention would drive you mad, if you knew. Lucky for us, humans rarely notice anything. You spill into bars unaware of who is watching. You get into taxis and make chit chat with the drivers. You offer up so much of yourself without realizing. I’m beginning to think you’re all the monsters you’re so afraid of.”
