Okay but imagine Draco Malfoy meeting Nymphadora Tonks exactly once when he was 5 and she was 12. With the dark lord and Bellatrix gone, Narcissa wanted to see her sister. So she arranged a meeting in a park with her sister without telling Lucius. They arrive and Nymphadora takes little Draco to sit by the lake so their mothers could talk. Draco is really shy and doesn’t want to be there but then Nymphadora changes her hair and eyes to match his and he’s intrigued. So she starts telling him about Hogwarts and changing her features showing him all the different colors she can do. She can hear her mother and her aunt’s rising voices as they start to argue so she keeps Draco entertained so he doesn’t have to hear the argument. Then Narcissa grabs Draco and leaves, claiming it was a mistake trying to speak with her sister. Nobody ever talked about that day, it was as if it had never occurred.
Years later, Draco Malfoy is walking down Diagon Alley and he runs into the Potters and his Aunt. They were getting things for Teddy’s first year. The minute they see bump into each other is tense. Draco is mortified, he hadn’t seen his aunt since that day at the park. Andromeda held his eye contact with grace only breaking it to glance at his arm. Shame filled him when he remembered her husband and daughter were killed by death eaters. In their stare down they didn’t notice Teddy approach them. Teddy held his grandmothers arm and looked up at Draco and without warning changed his hair and eyes to match Draco. Draco went still as he looked Teddy because in that moment he remembered being five and meeting his only cousin for the first and only time. It was too overwhelming so he fled spluttering apologies to everyone, hoping Andromeda understood what he was really apologizing for. He never mentioned this day to anyone, not even his mother, but he thought about it often.

wuko marriage headcanons!
- so they both plan to propose and they have seperate rings and everything.
- "hey wu! could i ask you something?" "um,,,,,,,,,well, i was planning on asking you something important." "something tells me we're both about to ask the same question."
- mako beats wu to it. "marry me, dumbass. but don't you dare sing or else i'm taking back the ring and selling it."
- wu huffs because he was about to burst out in song. anyways, their engagement is all over the news for days.
- wu obviously loves the publicity. mako, not so much.
- bolin bursts into tears when he finds out and mako cries too (but he'd rather die than admit it)
- mako's family (especially mako's grandmother) is extremely happy that royalty is marrying into their family and his grandmother does all the catering.
- wu feels a little sad he has no family to celebrate his engagement with.
- when lin finds out, she pretend to be mad. "ugh, more weddings for me to attend? can you all give it a break?" but really she's happy for them. she helps mako pick out a suit. "i'm proud of you, idiot. you're like a son to me. don't ever tell anyone i said that, though."
- when korra and asami find out, asami gives korra 20 yen. turns out they had a bet on who would get married after them. "did you have to be right, korra?"
- the beifongs are really happy for wu and mako. huan does an abstract piece for their wedding gift, and wing and wei plan a rather extensive dance for the wedding. "it's supposed to be a symbol of you two being soulmates!"
- the air nomad family are pretty surprised because they all thought bolin and wei would be the next to get married, but they're happy for them none the less. pema helps wu pick out a suit and bakes the cake for their wedding. "i couldn't be more happy for you two!"
- after two months of vigorous planning, it's finally the wedding day.
- wu would like to believe he's okay, but really, he starts crying before he walks down the aisle knowing that all his family are gone and there would be no one he was biologically related to to walk him down the aisle.
- mako breaks tradition and comes to see him before the wedding.
- "wu? please don't tell me you're getting cold feet. i knew that the thought of having to be married to me is terrifying, but are you okay." he laughs.
- "shut up, oaf. marrying you is all i ever wanted. i just...wish my family were here."
- mako immediately understands. up until a few years ago, he thought he had no family (except from bolin, of course.)
- "wu, i'm sorry. i know you would've wanted your folks to see you walk down the aisle. just imagine they're looking down on you from heaven, like your guardian angels. that's what i used to tell bolin about our parents."
- after 5 minutes of crying into the jacket of mako's suit and pulling himself back together, wu walks down the aisle on mako's grandmothers arm. "be gentle with him, prince wu. he never got the chance to grow up in a happy environment."
- mako barely manages to make it through his vows before he starts crying his eyes out. wu and all the guests are absolutely 💫 s h o c k e d💫
- the press got it all on their cameras and it was everywhere for days. "does it look like i want people to see me crying?!"
- after all the crying, gifts and speeches, mako ducks into the back room for a second.
- he used to have such bad internalized homophobia that younger him would've been shocked that he was ever able to come out.
- he looks at the picture of his parents on the stand, his mother's smile seeming to give him a little bit of encouragement.
- "you look just like naoki, you know that?" it was his grandmother.
- "yeah." mako's only ever hugged his grandmother a few times, but this was different.
- "i love you, mako. and prince wu? he loves you more than anything else." he looked out at wu, who he could finally call his husband. he was crying and reporters were swarming him.
- "prince wu, a quote for the headlines?" "how about, "they love each other and that's all you need to know."?
- his grandmother nudges him back into the crowd. "also, that pema lady? tell her that her cake could rival one of mine."
- after the wedding, they decide to go on a honeymoon to the fire nation. "i've always wanted to see what the fire nation's like." "oh, really? then let's go there." "let's do it."
this was fun but i got emotional halfway through 🤧

okay but maude ivory could’ve decided to never utter lucy gray’s name to her descendants because she remembered lucy gray and the peacemaker who followed her to district 12. she could’ve connected lucy gray’s disappearance to snow’s gradual rise in power. she remembered how lucy gray’s name was called at the reaping because the mayor held a grudge against her. imagine if her children ran around talking about a girl the capitol swore to forget about. it would’ve been considered an act of rebellion and a sure way to get her family killed. if she is katniss’ grandmother she could’ve made sure nobody remembered lucy gray but allowed her music to live on as her legacy
okay the ballad of songbirds and snakes spoilers:
1. i just KNEW sejanus wasnt gonna make it from the minute we met him based on how we already know what the capitol does to people it deems are rebels which he clearly was... but it still hurted tho
2. the whole time that dr. gaul was trying to “teach” snow why they do the hunger games i was waiting for him to talk about providing “hope” to the districts since that was what he talked to katniss about and i thought is what he used to justify the games
3. i ~like the theory that maude ivory is katniss’s grandma but i feel like if she was she def would have known who lucy gray baird was and that she was the victor of the 10th hunger games but maybe thats just me
overall 13/10 book and while not a super action based read it was still one of the best books ive ever read
