Thanks to Hopeful Mang in the Youtube comments for the translation

From the translation, Jin seems to have had a restful day by going to a public bathhouse where he relaxed and scrubbed, got some more sleep and ate elvan baked eggs (a Korean delicacy according to google where eggs are baked in a sauna for ~3 hours). He seemingly then goes on to talk about how his manager has commented multiple times that he has put on weight. Now, I’m not familiar with the specifics of Korean culture but celebrity culture is much the same in global terms – whether that celebrity be pre-stardom, mid stardom, or closing-stardom. Quite frankly, regardless of culture, telling someone who is clearly in good health (neither overweight nor underweight) that they are putting on weight in a negative way is an awful thing. And if you are one of the few people out there who thinks, in this video, that Jin looks overweight in any way then, not only are you wrong, but you are a danger to yourself and those around you. To me, it’s already alarmingly and despairingly clear there is an unhealthy pressure on this band, right from the damn start, to look ‘thin’ rather than healthy. This is such a prehistoric and dangerous mentality to have when your biggest demographics are teenagers and young adults.

Jin, however, does go on to say that he thinks his body has become weaker in terms of health. This is something a million times more important than whether he has gone up or down a clothing size or whether you can see enough of x-bone sticking out of his skin or if the gap between y-limb and z-limb is wide enough. Why Jin’s health is weakening is uncertain – he puts it down to sleeping by the window. I’m sceptical; to me it’s a bit too close to that silly saying “wrap up warm or you’ll catch a cold”. What’s more likely is that Jin’s living and working conditions are not conducive to good health; this could be overworking, stress, not enough sleep, poor quality of sleep (perhaps noise from window, noise from room, temperature of room (due to RM opening the window), light pollution etc), poor diet, an underlying health issue such as a post-viral syndrome – there are many factors but now that I know there is weight pressure I can’t help but think his weakened health is to do with the way he’s living and that falls under the company’s management.

Rap Monster’s Log 13/01/13

This is a continuation of RM talking about his struggles with finding his rap style. He had some friends listen to his recent work and they told him he is getting quite polished in a pop sense but his rap is no longer raw and rough as it was before. It comes across to me as though the more he tries to improve/polish his rap talent, the more he seems to be losing that “thing” that made him a raw talent in the first place. He seems to be struggling with what direction he wants to go in. Does he continue to become more well-rounded as a professional, at the possible cost of his rap talent, or does he focus on trying to find his “cool” rap image and hope it nurtures his raw talent once again? I can imagine how lost and confused (and perhaps slightly panicked because of company pressure) he felt at that moment. He started off with having a strong idea of his image – what he wanted to become – but over a year and half he has lost sight of that image and is now struggling to figure which way is the right way to go. The fact that he says he wants to become “cooler”, is indicative, to me, of him being not quite being mature enough yet to be the rapstar he wants to be – it’ll come, he just has to be patient.

Jin’s log 15/01/13

So Jin starts by talking about weight issues again; mentioning he thinks his face has been bloated recently. This makes me so sad because if weight was such a big deal at the start of the band when they had very few fans then what on earth is the pressure like now that they are global stars??!! I don’t think I want to know the answer :S

In this vlog Jin goes on to talk about eating bean soup in attempt to be healthy that day but it wasn’t very tasty and he thinks he should have made it himself. He says he often day-dreams about cooking together with his future wife which is a cute thing to say. Judging by the way these videos are worded, I get the sense that most things said in these vlogs is on the fly and not scripted – although they may decide pre-filming what subjects they might talk about. My point is that I’m inclined to believe that there is more honesty and truth in these videos than in, say, a TV documentary like American Hustle (which is also heavily edited). I’m mindful that public images can be completely different from the truth – particularly when it comes to sexual orientation. So, with all that in mind, I do think this is the first genuine indication that Jin sees himself in a heterosexual relationship in the future. Whether this still holds true a few years down the line, well, that remains to be seen. Whoever he ends up marrying though, I wish him every happiness!

Rap Monster’s Log 19/01/13

Most of this log seems to be RM talking about how tired he is – mainly because he stayed up all night. Why? Well according to the translation he says he was living up to his name. I’m not entirely sure I believe that – I’m thinking ‘over-worked’.

He mentions that they had been dancing that week and he found it fun. Lol this doesn’t quite marry up to his attitude to dance when we seen him in the televised series. Perhaps at this early point he was still enthusiastic about it – maybe the dance routines weren’t so hard/complicated/tiring back then? Or maybe he’s just putting on a brave face for the camera!

I’m going to quote the translation here:

“And I am really thankful for those who comment in our blogs.

I read it a lot during the day. And I feel like those people are truly watching over me - no not me, us.

They give us strength and I am thankful for that.

So I will start off the day being grateful.”

If this is accurate (and I appreciate that it’s hard to be accurate translating from any language to another) then the first line shows that RM is in the transition of moving from a solo image to a band image. Perhaps a Freudian slip there RM? The way he corrects himself from ‘me’ to ‘us’ suggests to me that at this point he was still subconsciously considering a future as a solo act – maybe not having quite reconciled himself with the idea of being in a band. However he is consciously aware of the band which is why he corrects himself in the first place. I’m also guessing at this point BTS (and it’s line-up) were not a sure thing? If anyone reads this and knows better please correct my following assumption if it’s wrong; at this point they were not a definite group as they had not debuted?

I get the feeling that at this point RM was really struggling to figure out who he wanted to be as an artist and reconcile with the idea he might not end up being a soloist. His hairstyle, shades, and general attitude strongly suggest he is trying to be someone he isn’t and maybe that’s why he had been struggling with his rap? The image he purports necessary to being a rapper could be actually hindering his natural abilities because he’s losing that connection to himself.

I’m not worried at this point because it’s clear he finds his path eventually!

A rap music video starring Rap Monster, Jin and Suga! Lyrics by Rap Monster and Suga. My musings: a more polished video than the last one. RM’s voice has a certain depth and a nuance which was lacking in the last one. His voice sounds unique and believable and less like a talented teenager imitating his idols. Suga’s rap voice, too, sounded quite natural and actually not much different from his current self. I think he found his voice and style quite early on, which I’m sure gave the band some stability to build from. Jin, as well, was great adding in some vocals to offset the rap. It’s really interesting to see the three of them working together so well so early on.

I don’t understand the lyrics but there’s a consensus in the YouTube comments that RM, Jin, and Suga might be a bit embarrassed to re-watch themselves in this video? Whatever the lyrics are I don’t think the three of them should be embarrassed by this production at all. Everyone has to start somewhere and, for me, this is definitely a step up from the previous video and clearly shows they are improving even in a short space of time! This is a great thing for anyone to watch and it’s also an important life lesson in that even the most successful people in the world have to work on their talent. Only about 1 in a billion people are born with the natural ability to be perfect at something without ever having to practice!

A short log where Jin (seemingly – as the translation is rough) is really happy as he has been contacted by a friend he has not seen for 10 years. This friend was someone he used to hang out with almost everyday and was someone he shared a lot in common with. The friend said he missed Jin and Jin admitted he missed his friend too.

As it’s been 10 years I’m thinking that they must have parted ways in primary school/junior high/elementary (whichever is your school system for pre-teens). It’s nice that the friend got in touch at this point – long before BTS became famous – and I bet Jin got a sorely needed emotional boost from it.

A short log with not much to note. It’s 3:30 in the morning there yet RM says he has finished early???!! This isn’t the first ‘early hours’ log and I’m growing concerned with the amount of sleep they are all getting vs amount of work. It isn’t healthy! Don’t get me wrong at that age I was up to the that time in the morning but I always offset it by sleeping later into the morning so I got at least 7 hours of sleep. I don’t think the lads are doing that though.

RM also talks about feeling more positive in general (which is great!). He talks about it being cold (considering it’s January I am not surprised) and wanting to work out so that he can feel confident wearing shorts in the summer. My eyes are really opening to their insecurities in their appearance – and sometimes it’s from the small comments like the above.

Jin’s Log 24/01/2013

Between Katrin’s translation and the auto-translate on the Youtube video, Jin starts by saying it’s winter and very cold which is why he is wearing a lot of clothes. The fact he is wearing his coat in the studio suggests to me that there isn’t a reliable heating system in the building, which again, to me, indicates that the business does not have a lot of money to spare. Jin also says he has bad circulation which means his feet and hands are always cold. He’s tried to improve it by eating more vegetables? I’m not entirely sure of the correlation but eating more veggies is good for you so keep it up Jin! This part felt like a continuation of the health issues he mentioned in the last log, which shows it isn’t improving. He also mentions that his family worry about his health as they are not there to look after him. For me, this is the first indication ‘in the logs’ that Jin is living away from his family – which I already knew from watching Rookie King and American Hustle Life. I can imagine it’s been hard for him to learn to look after himself, especially in such a unique environment and without his family around to add a little bit of reassurance. You make it kid, hang in there!

After talking about his health he mentions Jimin. I’m a little confused by the translations but it seems as though he is revealing Jimin is either an official member of the band now or at least a serious contender for a place? Either way he says Jimin’s content is good and that we should look forward to it. We got a snippet of Jimin dancing in the last set of videos and his skill was pretty impressive!

He admits he laughed from the sidelines at Jin and RM when they did their logs, which means he has been hanging in the background and we didn’t know! I don’t know why that pleases me so much – I guess I like the idea that all of them were hovering around in the background early on, making friendships and setting up bonds.

He tells us that he was revealed on Twitter the day before (presumably as a band member?). It’s interesting to me that this was done quite a while after it became obvious Jin, RM, and Suga were a unit. I didn’t really know much about how BTS were put together and I didn’t realise that their joining dates were so staggered. Anyway, this was a cute introduction – I hope we get to see him interact with RM, Suga, and Jin soon.

These past few months have been agonizing, heightened by an out pour of fears and anxiety accumulated throughout my lifetime. The other day I fucked up and made the same grave mistake twice and at this point, I can’t even be mad at anyone besides myself.  It just seems like effort–no matter how extraneous–is futile. I still end up where I have always end up: tired from exerting all of my efforts into the final hours just to only be defeated, coping with it, moving on, trying to change for the better and the anxiety of it to the results being the same. 

The cycle repeats. I have watched and reflected on myself for so many years to try to improve but I overestimated my will and strength. How can I define myself as being such a passionate person when I can’t even do the bare minimum for the things I’m passionate about?  I look at my classmates and peers around me, seeing them create and talk about their ideas with such zeal and the beauty in their efforts…and then I look at myself. Everyone–and even my dreams–are drifting away from me.  Progress is stagnant and I wish I did not have cold feet and feelings of the world crashing down on me every time I make art.  The amount of mental strength I have to exert to maintain my sanity to work is exhausting, and even then, I still do not produce that much results.  

But no matter how many times I think about giving it up, I can’t. This purgatory of being not good enough but also still believing in the slight hope of my dreams is eating me alive.  Do I really even have dreams? Because obviously I do not care about them enough to break this cycle. Who am I if I don’t even have dreams or ambitions? Why do I even exist if I’m just going to be like this. Every waking moment is filled with self-awareness and constant reminders on the state of my life and my dissatisfaction of it and the only way I can cope is by losing myself in the void.  But even then, the void can never stop time; the world continues to crumble as I compose myself within stillness. 

Every single aspect of me seems so far behind, but I also can’t seem to connect with the normality and stability of my peers.  I consistently am on edge for the possibility anyone might question me about my life.  It’s one thing if I’m dealing with my own life, it’s even worse if others were to see my failures, too.  

As I walked to my car and drove home the other day, I could not stop the tears from falling down.  For the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to tell myself, “it’s okay you fucked up but forgive yourself hold yourself accountable but don’t forget to love yourself,” but at that point, I just couldn’t do it anymore.  I want to disappear from the world I can’t offer anything beneficial to.  I’m tired of all the wandering eyes, of me being imprisoned in myself, consistently feeling lost, going from high extremes of too many emotions, being numb in order to cope, coping with every single failure…it seems like all I do is consume and take up space.  At this point, I’m only functioning because I have just enough will that I could not take death.

At the peak of my destruction, I pulled up this song in my car and I just started outright sobbing. From the music alone, I felt both the pain and comfort of someone else understanding my pain.  Every repetition of “dream”  in the song felt like a stepping stone and I could feel from within my soul the suffering of each step and strength it took to overcome and take the next.  Despite all of the pain, it was like Yoongi was telling me to keep going.  And I know, most of the time I have to borrow hollow encouragements from the things I cling onto in order to keep going, but honest to god,  in that moment, I felt the most amount of empathy coming from a song I have ever felt. I went home that night to look up the lyrics to the song only to be surprised that each lyric had it down to the tee every single emotion I was feeling that night.  And it made me think, “Had Yoongi, even BTS, felt everything I am feeling right now?”  There was no other conclusion I could come up with as to why every lyric felt like my soul being poured out into a song. And then I remembered  Namjoon’s speech on the last day of the Wings Tour (translated by vantaekim):

And there’s one thing I really wanted to say, in letters [from armys], we received or the things we hear often…”I’m happy you guys are doing well, but my life my dreams are frozen still, but I feel like you guys are going far away from me…we started together…I like it but my heart hurts.”  But what I want to say is that I didn’t believe in myself either, that we can do it, that we will become great..”Willl we be able to perform at the Olympic Stadium before we die and then retire?”…I don’t know. What I want to tell you guys is that, at first we were grummy and stuff. But we did it. Everyone who have acknowledged us, us that exist in your dreams, our existance, our music, pictures, videos…if they can at least a little bit, if your hurting is 100, if we can turn that 100 to 98, or 96, then we believe that our value is enough, I really love you all.

Everything was put into perspective: if BTS truly went through what I went through and were able to achieve their dreams, I can, too.  Ironically the song that came on right after that was Lost, which has so much meaning encapsulated in a happy song:

the sun hangs low in the seoul sky, glowing like an ember amidst the smoky purple clouds as the horizon swallows it whole. sua tugs her parka firmly around her torso, shuddering against the unforgiving january wind. it’s been nearly three years since sua’s returned to seoul, and in those two years, she’s never quite learned to deal with the freezing walk from the ballet to the subway station in the wintertime.

there’s a park that she always walks through on her way to and from the subway, a long stretch of land beautiful in its own right throughout the seasons. in the winter, the whole park is frosted with glassy ice and fluffy, white snow, like a scene from a snow globe. she’s usually the only person trudging through the slushy snow on the pavement and leaving little footprints in the frosty grass, but today is different. not so far away, a boy sits on a small wooden bench, looking up at the golden sky as if waiting for something to happen. she registers his side profile as vaguely familiar.

he reminds her of paris, of running through spring rain, of a bouquet of baby’s breath crushed to her chest after a performance. she recalls the flavor of the strawberry cake that melted in her mouth, and the sound of laughter that made her smile too. kim taehyung.

“저기요, 혹시 김태형..?” she asks timidly, her voice fading into nothingness as she approaches the boy. he looks at her half-lidded, the ruby light of sunset lighting up his features. it’s taehyung. he looks older, somewhat. he still has a boyish look about him, but the way he carries himself feels different now.

“수아누나?”

taehyung can’t do anything but laugh as sua barrages him with endless questions. there is so much that she wants to ask him, so much that she’s still curious about, but she settles on one last question as she sits down next to him.

“밖에 추운데 쓸쓸맞게 뭐하냐?” it’s a genuine question, and the one she’s most curious about; she never sees anyone just sitting around in the park in the dead of winter.

“아, 뭐, 그냥…” he looks down at the pavement, shrugging as he toes a piece of ice aside.

“야, 근데, 나 한국 돌아와서 너 엄청 많이 찾았는데! 내가 너 연락한다고 했잖아,” she says with a frown.

“나 찾았어요?” his eyes are bright with something that sua can’t quite put her eyes on, something equal parts melancholy and overly grateful. it makes her want to cry, just a little bit.

“으이구, 그래. 아무리 찾아봐도 없길레 난 네가 또 여행간줄 알았네,” she laughs, elbowing him playfully.

“헤헤.”

as the conversation tapers off, sua breathes hot air onto her numb hands, watching as the white fog of her breath momentarily obscures taehyung’s features. it’s only then that she really takes in the sight of taehyung’s nose and cheeks, bitten red by an hour too many out in the cold.

“그런데 너 지금까지 여기 혼자 앉아있었니?”

he laughs softly, a single breath puffing out into the frigid air.

“뭐, 항상 혼자죠.” he pauses. then, sotto voce as he looks into his lap, “보고싶었어요, 누나.”

“…너 우니?”

“아니거든요!” he mumbles sulkily, glancing up at her with teary eyes. she recognizes that look on his face. it’s the look of abject loneliness; she knows because she used to see it in the mirror when taehyung left paris. she doesn’t like seeing it on someone as bright as the sun itself.

“미안해.” is the only thing she can offer to him as solace. she wraps her arms around him so his head rests against the crook of her neck. something inside him must give way, because he’s clutching fistfuls of her coat in his hands and his lean frame shakes as he sniffles quietly.

she thinks she knows. what it’s like to be so lonely, that is. what it’s like to be lost and found.

so our resident nerd works in a library 

he’s the front librarian so he’s mostly in charge of administration and stuff at the front desk

meaning he has to deal with library patrons sometimes 

and that he also has to deal with his team 

i mean his team isn’t that bad, they’re mostly hella responsible 

namjoon works in the classics department and other than the fact that he sometimes knocks over stacks of books he’s a great right hand man

wonwoo works with the ya books and he’s a wonder at organising and snarking at namjoon

joshua works in the foreign language and he’s pretty quiet but so is eunwoo so they get along pretty well 

the children’s department, however, is a different story 

remember how his team is ~mostly~ responsible

the noisiest bean eunwoo has ever met 

the worst thing is that myungjun’s intern eQUALLY NOISY AND IT DRIVES EUNWOO INSANE 

and by driving eunwoo insane he means that naturally all three of them best friends and eunwoo is in despair because he only wanted peace and quiet in his life but the universe decided to throw him mj and sanha and their sunshine smiles and their strange ways of worming themselves into everyone’s hearts and now he has to live with eternal screeching 

reference librarian leo constantly wants to murder them because they make sO MUCH NOISE but mj and sanha lock themselves in the children’s department and refuse to let anyone taller than sanha in because “if ur too tall u might scare the children!!!!” because they’re Actual Children, eunwoo swears 

he doesn’t fail to noticethe only person taller than sanha in this damn library is leo

when eunwoo whines about the feud going on namjoon just pats him on the shoulder and lopes off to join the self-help literature department librarian jin

why a grown-ass man is searching for so many children’s books with sUCH URGENCY eunwoo will probably never find out

but out comes mj and in they go to the children’s section 

and normally eunwoo turns back to his administrative duties 

but there’s still a shadow beside his administration desk 

that isn’t in a jinjin shape 

eunwoo looks up and blinks

and blinks again because sorry what is this man doing here

he’s dressed in all black and in a leather jacket and has the fiercest, grumpiest look on his face 

and is also holding a whole stack of children’s books

eunwoo blinks again 

what the hell is up with grown-ass men trying to find children’s books are they alright

this one is significantly less out of breath than the first man though so eunwoo just shrugs

i mean, he’s pretty cute

he accepts the books and library ID from the grumpy man and begins slowly checking them out, scanning each bar code and meticulously stamping the due date on the card at the back of the book

as he’s printing the receipt he peers at the man’s ID

‘moon bin’ it reads 

“so,,,, moon bin,,,,,” eunwoo starts carefully, 

“a big fan of children’s literature?”

and bin is startled and flushes red because??? there’s a reason why?????? he didn’t open his mouth???????? in the first place???????

and that reason is a dare by a lil shit currently sniggering outside the library 

jokes on you rocky because reason number 2 why bin doesn’t want to open his mouth is because he’s met literally The Most Beautiful man he has ever seen in his entire life 

it’s not as if he’s never been in the library before because like he hAs 

he lied he’s never been in this library before

just that he’s never seen this librarian before

in the softest blue sweater bin has ever seen with small sweater paws

and with the most adorable pair of thin metal-frame round glasses 

with the sweetest eye smile and the sweetest voice

bin thinks he might throw up

this man is beautiful and he’s staring too much

테레사 메이의 Brexit 딜이 실패하면 어떻게 될까요? + 2차 국민투표는 있을 수 없다, 이미 Brexit에 투표한 17.4M의 영국인을 존중해야 한다 + EU와 재협상도 있을 수 없다, 메르켈을 비롯한 EU의 절대 반대 + NO Deal Brexit만이 불가피한 길이다 + EU의 북아일랜드 후방 인질 조건은 UK를 EU 관세규정에 묶어두는 효과를 낸다, 미국.일본.중국 등 다른 나라와의 자유무역을 제한하여 결국 No Brexit이나 마찬가지다

메이는 정말 잡초같은 질긴 생명력을 보여주는듯 합니다ㅋ  솔직히 처음에는 상승세다 싶었는지 조기 총선을 자청했다 보수당이 뜻밖의 패배로 자체 과반 의석을 못이루고 이미 사임위기였는데 북아일랜드 지역정당인 DUP와 연정으로 총리자리를 어거지로 유지할 때 이미 하드 브렉시트를 절대 불허하는 DUP(정치적으로는, 외부 표명 입장만은 EU와 결별 선호), 이미 스코틀랜드와 더불어 브렉시트 반대표가 더 많이 나왔던(경제, 사회적으로는 국경을 경유하는 EU를 통한 실익 유지) 북아일랜드의 입장이라는 핸디캡을 짊어진 상태서 애시당초 시작부터 EU와 제대로 된 협상이 힘든 상태가 아니었나 짐작되네요   지도자가 되서 상대의 허를 찌르는 지략, 파격, 용단, 큰 그림을 보는 혜안보다는 여전히 신입사원 마냥 "맨땅에 헤딩하기"로 버티는 듯 보이네요 다만 현 상황은 아무리 봐도 작년 메이가 DUP와 연정에 성공하면서 어떤 모종의 밀약을 한게 아닌가 의심이 됩니다. DUP입장서도 늘 찬밥 대우였던 북아일랜드 실리는 총리 자리 지킬 맘에 뭐든 다 수용 할 메이를 이용 최대한 다 챙겨야 한다는 입장이었을 것 같구요 :s

순수한 정치적 명분보다 결국 돈, 이권 싸움이 결국 아닐까 의심됩니다. 영국에 속하나 무역 관점서는 EU에 남는 특수한 신분을 북아일랜드에게도 역시 부여하니 북아일랜드랑 아일랜드 둘다 이런 특수 상황의 수혜자가 되지 않나 싶네요   아일랜드만 재미보고 EU가 아일랜드를 끔찍히(???) 편애해서 절대 양보 못한다는 언론의 논리는 좀 이상한 듯 보입니다. :s DUP의 강경한 렉토릭은 오히려 DUP와 May 밀약을 숨기려는게 아닐까 의심이 됩니다. DUP가 표면적으로는 반EU, 친영국 주의긴 한데 그걸 떠나 북아일랜드 지역정당이지요, 지역의 실질적 이권을 외면할 이들은 아닐듯 싶습니다. 만약 브렉시트란 실험에 예상치 못한 부작용이 크면 영국이나 EU의 무역 지위를 누리는 북아일랜드가 특수를 노린다는 계산이 혹 있지 않을까 싶네요 작년에 연정을 DUP찾아가서 구걸할 때 이미 May는 DUP에 정치적 채무를 진 셈이니 북아일랜드 입장서는 평생 처음 북아일랜드 눈치보는 보수당 총리가 조금이라도 더 오래 자리를 보전하길 바리지 않을지;;;; 메이도 작년에 멋모르고 조기 총선 선언했다 대패한 후 사임했음 영국 역사상 가장 단명+불명예 사퇴한 총리로 남았을 것이니 절박했을 것입니다

보면 볼수록 지금 협상안이 관철되면 북아일랜드, 아일랜드 모두 승자가 되네요 ㅋ

  In light of their new album Love Yourself and their insane breakthrough in America last year, we’re finally writing about BTS. This group before known as Bangtan Sonyeondan but recently changed the initials to Beyond the Scene, have appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show twice, they have been to the James Corden show and now they’re embarking on a huge world tour. Let’s talk about BTS.

BTS was signed as a 7 member group under BigHit entertainment, they debuted on June 12th, 2013 with the song ‘No More Dream’ and won several awards with their debut song and since then on they continued to rise steadily until winning the Top Social Award at the American Billboard awards in 2017 for their whopping 15 million followers on twitter.

They’re name originates from Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates to Bulletproof Boyscouts. This name was created because they wanted to break the barrier and let nobody stop them from making controversial music. They would block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets and protect the values and ideals of today’s adolescents.

As they’re name suggests their first years are based around boys and girls in school and the hardships they face but which every new chapter (album) they released they’re stepping away from adolescence and when they changed the meaning for the BTS initials to Beyond The Scene; It was clear that they became true adults and are leaving that stage of their life behind.

With the new album this vibe really comes through and you can feel them change and develop.

The group BTS is made out of 7 individuals that each bring their own style and ideas to the group. As BTS cowrites and produces all of their music and some of the group have their own well received solo projects they come together every time and create something unique.

Besides from their lyrics BTS has different strengths in their sound also, they all have their unique sound; Jungkook is the main vocalist and you can hear his clear breathy voice, Jimin has a little bit higher soft voice and usually does the high notes. RM, J-HOPE and Suga are the rappers and each is different. RM does a lot of the english lines and he has a deeper voice than J-HOPE who can rap pretty fast but Suga is the king of rap, spitting fire not many other idols can achieve. (safe from Zelo from BAP). Jin is one of the few members that sing a lot; but when he does hold your horses; it’s beautiful.

Along with their amazing voices they have great choreography. Intricate and different from the things you usually see. Each member has their own way of dancing or moving/carrying themselves but as soon as they get together as one group and dance; it blows your mind. They do a lot of practice videos for ARMY aswell and post it on their YouTube!

RM, J-HOPE and Suga (Agust D) produce and have their own solo project. (search their names on YouTube.  you’ll find amazing songs. V is well known for his acting in Hwarang.

BTS have been living together since before their debut, however they went from a small place only barely fitting the 7 boys to a very luxury condo easily fitting them and their ARMY. Which they absolutely deserve of course.

Charities and beliefs

BTS have involved themselves in a variety of charitable events. In 2015, they donated seven tons (7,187 kg) of rice to charity at the K-Star Road opening ceremony held in Apgujeong-dong. The following year they participated in ALLETS’s “Let’s Share the Heart” collaboration charity campaign with Naver to raise donations for LISA, a charity “which carries forward a preparation business to fight blindness including research on degenerative retina disease treatment and an activity to improve social awareness on the visually impaired.

In January 2017, news media reported that BTS and Big Hit Entertainment had donated KR₩100,000,000 (US$85,000) to the 4/16 Sewol Families for Truth and A Safer Society, an organization connected to the families of the 2014 Sewol Ferry Disaster. Each member donated KR₩10,000,000 and Big Hit Entertainment donated an additional KR₩30,000,000. The donation was intended to have been made in secret. Later that year, BTS officially launched their Love Myself campaign, an initiative dedicated to helping “protect and support child and teen victims of domestic and school violence as well as sexual assault around the world…”, in partnership with the Korean Committee for UNICEF. BTS plans to donate 500 million won ($448,000) from the members, 3% of all upcoming Love Yourself: Her album sales and 100% of all sales of official goods for the Love Myself campaign over the next two years, as well as include donation desks installed by UNICEF, towards several social programs benefiting violence prevention against children and teens and support programs for victims of violence. Within two months of its launch the campaign raised an additional KR₩106,000,000, taking the worldwide funds total to KR₩606,000,000.

In April 2018, BTS participated in Stevie Wonder’s “Dream Still Lives” tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. alongside other celebrities, sharing their dreams and hopes for the world. It was revealed that Stevie Wonder himself had asked BTS to participate in the campaign.

Members of the group have also engaged in individual philanthropic endeavours. Jimin supported graduates of Busan Hoedong Elementary School, his alma mater, by covering uniform expenses from 2016 until its closure in 2018. After news of the school’s closing was released, he donated summer and winter middle school uniforms to the final graduates and gifted autographed albums to the entire student body. For his 25th birthday, Suga donated ten kilograms of Korean beef to 39 orphanages in Korea under the name of “ARMY”, BTS’s fan club.

Namjoon and Yoongi (RM and Suga) have also made it quite clear they stands for LGBT rights and mental illness.

In the first couple of minutes of the show you can see them talk about it and expressing that no matter how scary it is to show ‘beyond the veil’ what goes on in the life and work that is BTS but they do it and it’s beautiful but also heart wrenching. However YouTube Red is a paid part of YouTube so you will have to pay for it. (or google ways to go around it since both bighit and ARMY are helping other ARMY to watch it without paying but you didn’t hear that from us 😉 )

European and American tour In the beginning of 2018 BTS announced that they will be doing a EU and US tour. The US Dates were sold out extremely quick and on June 1st the EU tour tickets we’re sold out within 30 to 60 minutes as well. A lot of fans are extremely upset and putting up petitions to ask for another show in The Netherlands.  You can sign it here!
