also (just been thinking) I love the 95 mini-series so much for deeply personal reasons and I use it as a teaching tool with my students (it works brilliantly) and it works as a faithful adaptation and also a coherent story that stands on its own making good use of character development and plot to produce the right emotions but I’m also not interested in a face-off between it and the ‘05 version in that I’m not going to die on the hill of “everyone must be watching this adaptation only” because it really is about the book.

Heyyy uh, I love your work! Your idea of The Spot just feels so in character and I absolutely adore the sad soggy noodle of a man (I mean that in an affectionate way)
If your commissions are open, Id like to make a request…
Are you comfortable writing for an Autistic Reader (with or without ADHD involved)? It doesn’t have to be anything specific, maybe just how he would deal with the pros and cons of it all?
No pressure in doing it, just take care of yourself and remember to set yourself at a comfortable pace and to make sure to care for your needs!
OhmygodivbeentalkingforsolongIamsosorryillshutupnowhaveaniceday!!!
🖤Spot x Nerodivergent Reader🤍
YES!! I’m also autistic so I’d love nothing more than to feed y’all. Autistic readers and readers with ADHD are never common and it’s really sad to see.
AUTISTIC READER:
The Spot, with his own experiences of feeling misunderstood, demonstrates empathy and acceptance towards their partner's autism. He recognizes and appreciates their unique perspective, and even try’s to promote it as much as he can. You can truly understand him in that sence, and it makes him even more likely to be able to open up to you.
The Spot and you easily bond over shared special interests, whether it's science, technology, or other intellectual pursuits. You both engage in passionate discussions, exchange knowledge, and explore these interests together. Sometimes it might even be hard to have a conversation without accidentally interrupting one another!
In many situations (myself included lol), it’s often hard to stim as you might think of it as embarrassing or useless because of how ‘stupid’ you look. The spot of course, loves to see you happy and express yourself, even if it isn’t conventional. If he notices this pattern of behavior, he might try to help by stimming with you! He thinks it’s sweet and he wants you to feel comfortable around him after all.
Sensory issues are one of the many obstacles that come with having autism, and the spot most likely is aware of this. Even tiny things such as the fabric of your pants Can set you off, and the spot tries his best to make you as comfortable as he can. If you happen to become overstimulated, then he’s going to stop everything and aid you. Even if you feel guilty about all of the attention, he hates to see you distraught.
If you’re feeling overstimulated at home, then he might turn off/dim the lights and give you something to fidget with. If you don’t want to talk about how you feel, he understands, and is willing to console you physically if you wish!
If it’s in a public setting, then the spot is willing to safely (and hopefully slowly, the poor boy might be freaking out alongside you) get you out of the situation and somewhere more quiet and secluded.
Dates during sensory hour at certain places! The options are limitless, but I can imagine he’d enjoy taking you to places such as the aquarium during those hours. It’s quiet, nice, and you both get to see the sea creatures :).
Sometimes you want to be quiet but also in his presence, the feeling of just being around him comforting enough. He can understand, although it might be hard. Sometimes the spot has a tendency to talk your ear off, but in certain situations, espically if you convey so, he might just relax and do something while you do something else.
The spot is also willing to adapt if you have issues with certain ways of communication, maybe to the point of going non verbal or needing cards. Spot is a fast learner, and because of such will quickly be able to affectively communicate with you. He finds ways to accommodate different communication styles, such as using visual aids, written communication, or allowing time for processing thoughts. He’s very patient and knows that your feelings are complex.
Reader with ADHD
The Spot recognizes that your attention and focus may fluctuate and that you might exhibit hyperactive or impulsive behaviors at times. He can understand the feeling of being impulsive, and uses this to connect with you on a certain basis. Reminders are very common with him!
Back when The Spot worked worked as a scientist, he developed an incredibly strict schduale. If you have your own issues keeping schduale and keeping track of your own work, he might implement some of your own tatics for you. (And he’s kinda a total worrywart about it. He cares, maybe wayyyyy too much about if you get your things done on time.)
The Spot uses his powers to create a calming environment for you when needed. He may manipulate dimensions to create serene spaces or offer soothing sensory experiences that help reduce anxiety too!

Game development Trembling Essence update:
Tumblr media
Hello and welcome new followers, it's been a while but I am here with another update! :]
Firstly, I just want to keep things transparent and catch people up to date for those that might not of seen my previous explanation for this delay and/or are new here.
I was very hesitant on making any new update posts because I wanted my original play tester who's been here since the beginning to look at everything first so I patiently waited. I didn't want to give out false expectations and add bunch of new content/concepts in update posts only to take it out or change it entirely if I couldn't make it work. In the end, my original play tester just couldn't make it so I recently asked someone else. Everything went really well, I had a lot of fun with how they played the game and they were very understanding. Their feedback really helped me when I needed it and I learned a lot from this experience, I am never waiting like that ever again. :]
Anywho, here's how things have been going as far as game development goes:
In my last update post, I was talking about a certain goal point I wanted to achieve and the game got a pretty big update!
Tumblr media
I finished all of the morning settings/routes that now lead into day 4, this took a lot of writing and time. There is one specific route that I'm fixing because when my new play tester and I played it straightforward twice, it took a very long time to get through and we still weren't done before we took a break. :,]
There were two new paths that I also finished during all of this. For the first one, I decided to push it later into the game due to certain events happening too early and the second one is an ending which is slightly hidden somewhere. :]
All that'll be needed is minor adjusting, etc because the variables need to line up correctly since some routes can have different outcomes. I'm up for this challenge but it's going to take time to organize.
Here are some of things I fixed along the way:
Slight adjustment to an ending that required a certain trigger
Adjusted certain visual effects happening to early
Cleaned up various grammar mistakes
Fixed certain routes jumping into other routes
Minor fix to backgrounds appearing at the wrong time of day
Adjusted the volume of different background SFX's / Music
Tumblr media
Here's one of several things you can eat in the game, can't survive on an empty stomach after all! :]
When it comes to CG's that involve food, my style approach will be a bit different. I was originally going to do realism but those take a very long time to do and after the first few, I got pretty burnt out from them.
Tumblr media
Along with that, sometimes you might find things that will aid you along the way! This key is just an example, I don't want to show the other items just yet. :]
Tumblr media
I'm also still testing this but I thought about adding a visual effect that appears on your screen when something is causing you to rapidly lose health(?) It's not in full effect right now, just brainstorming it.
Lastly, another thing that's kind of been on my mind once I looked through the routes again is how long they are, I'm not sure how people feel about long visual novels since I consider this one to be a slow burn game. I don't want you to feel as though you have to skip through a lot of the dialog unless you've already seen it, I want it to be fun and not feel like it's dragging on. I really would like to hear people's thoughts on this because I honestly don't know.
I think I reached the max I can type here so I'll post the rest in the following update post next week but overall,
Thank you guys for being patient and understanding. I wholeheartedly appreciate the support and encouragement! :]

ohmygosh GREENHOUSE :D
i was already excited with the idea of mumbo gifting scar a greenhouse since the first time grian and him saw his flat, but to see how much the story has progressed with their relationship and the added layer of what scar’s plants mean/do for him—
ksjdjshdisjssjjsuchsisi
i’m in love with your writing and even more so with how well you map a story out. just the fact that something so old and forgotten has the potential to be something new as a show of love is everything to me. it also adds so much that the sunroom was introduced as part reason to why mumbo returned to boatem and stayed in his manor (more specifically adopted it as his own again).
side note, something about knowing mumbo trained professionally as a doctor rather just offhandedly having first aid knowledge is a beautiful visual, it’s giving carlisle from twilight but a sexy british man. with so much time on his hands, why wouldn’t he train in a difficult profession in order to help other people without recognition or a need of money, the selfless bastard (affectionate)
but ahhhhhhhh! the sunroom reflected a time of war and pain, a time when mumbo came back to help others in times of need. the sunroom was something luxurious and beautiful, yet it was sacrificed to the cost of war. THE FACT THAT IT’LL BE REMADE IN THE NAME OF LOVE AFTER ALL THIS TIME OF NEGLECT??
it’s an addition to the manor that will truly show how important scar is to their lives; from being a hated stranger to a beloved partner, in this essay i will—
nothing will ever not be enough for mumbo’s partners and it’s so beautiful to note how much effort he’s willing to put into his manor so it’s theirs as well (he owned a house and they’re making it a homeeeee).
i’m basking in the fluffiness yet am also excited to what the future may hold for our lovers. the set up of scar leaving for the first time since their establishment has so much potential for angst or as a testament to their love, i can’t wait to see what comes from it.
it builds when mumbo also considers how unnecessarily selfless scar can be. it was a small observation at the end but i can’t help but recognize how little scar prioritizes his wants/needs beyond balancing his magic because he’s been told all his life how little time he has. it’s one thing to know of your limited time, it’s another when you’ve been consistently reminded how fragile and limited you are because of things “destined” to happen. my traumatized elf :(
scar deserves his happiness with his lovers and i can’t wait to read when he sees it for himself. they potentially symbolize something worth living for outside of sacrificing time for others (the moment scar confines in them of his wants might be the day i die because it’s a level of trust, it’s a huge step in their relationship, it’s wHEN HE GIVES IN TO HIS NEEDS AND PLEASURE—). his possessive lovers love him because he is worth being loved, regardless of the impact one could make on such restricted time. our scar deserves to be selfish, i refuse to believe otherwise *^*
i want to apologize for ranting so much yet i can’t, knowing it’s a result from the genius that is your talent and craftsmanship. i just, i appreciate you so much. thank you for taking the time to share your work with us readers. it’s semi silly to think i’m hyperfixating on minecraft fanfiction, but you continuously make it worth getting excited over.
i also can’t help but commend you on your references. beyond the places each lover first resided in, just the subtle details that make it specific to minecraft is *chef’s kiss* the Mycelia War made me smile so big (i mean it’s terrible in context with the story, but yknow lol)
YASSS I love greenhouses <3
Ahaha I believe you left an ask about it before yeah? It was so jhgfdjkjh bc I had intended for Mumbo to do this for AGES now <3 And now Mumbo has more knowledge to make him decide that a greenhouse is not only good but a necessity for their Elf <3
Ahaha thank you so much <3 I absolutely love the idea of bringing old and abandoned places back to life <3 A room no one even knows is there, bringing new life to it for the sake and comfort of someone you love who doesn't even live there yet nfdsjkfsjdk <3<3
I am not gonna lie I never read Twilight and have no idea who Carlisle is \<3 To which I have just realized there is some irony in that I named my series the Midnight Series......... lmao- But ye Mumbo's had time over his life to learn a lot of skills <3 He's a soft heart and such a selfless person <3 and also back then was before he knew of any blood-delivering services so if anything went wrong during a feeding-
YEAH <3 <3 <3 Mumbo hasn't even LOOKED at it since before the war but immediately he thinks about it and the potential it has to help Scar <3 I adore the idea of grand but personal displays of love, something that is big but still means something on a very personal level to the person. Grian's feathers, a place for Scar's plants in Mumbo and Grian's house..... <3
YEAH IM HJFSJKDSHJ I was rereading my own fic (for. Reasons.) and I was cackling at Mumbo being so unhappy about seeing Scar because of how far they've come all thanks to a smart little birdman <3 They really went from "wow I have to deal with this for 20 minutes a year can we PLEASE not make this longer" to "you're staying here tonight" to "I'm gonna kiss you every day for the rest of our lives" lmao-
YESSSS Mumbo's been alone for so long, he's spent all his Isolations alone (and away from the manor, coming back during his Active periods but they're so much shorter than Isolation period </3) and now that he's not alone he wants to make sure they're comfortable and happy <3 They bring light to the manor and life to Mumbo and I just hjfsdkjfdsj <3
Enjoy the fluffiness while it lasts <3 Haha yes, I wonder what might happen.... :)
YEAH our poor Elf boi, he's always prioritized other people over himself </3 Well, to a degree. There are some things he's not willing to sacrifice/do (as we saw in his history with the Fae King and Cub hjfdsalk) but </3 speaking up about his wants or needs? This is the man who pushed Mumbo's buttons on purpose just because he didn't want to inevitably hurt Mumbo when he dies, despite having feelings for him </3 So fdjksgsdjk <3
He does deserve happiness and his partners will shower him with love until he realizes/accepts it <3 (ghjfdjkgfdjk this is a man for whom allowing someone to touch his hair is a big deal, the amount of trust it takes for him to finally hjfdsjkfghjds <3) YES. He is worth being loved and regardless of the future this is still so <3 and they will make sure he knows hfgjkjk <3 I agree with you let the man be selfish for once <3
Haha no need to even want to apologize, I love reading these <3 waking up to these in the morning is one of the funnest things hjkfgkdjkj Thank you so so so much, I'm so happy you enjoy it so much I'm having so much fun writing it <3 <3
Hahaha Thank youuuu!! <3 I love adding little references like that hjkfgjkdjkgfkj <3

This has been brewing in my mind for the past like 5+ years, evolving and changing in the back of my head, but I think recently I finally found a way to express it...
The depiction of disability in a lot of media bothers me so much, and sometimes I see shades of it in this site too. The way that tools to aid physical disability, especially, are appreciated if they are 1) technologically advanced, be it a lot of moving mechanical pieces or with machinery, or 2) aesthetically pleasing, to the level of impractical showpieces. I do find both of them extremely cool-- that is, on a technical and aesthetic level. But this almost “veneration” for “cool ways to “”””counter”””” disability”, ie. “your disabled character should be cool to ‘offset’ their disability”, just feels like worms in my throat.
Let’s take adventure stories. You can have magic to make the fanciest of designs work, yes, but sometimes I feel like that’s another way to kind of bypass the actual uh, disability? Not in the sense that disabled people wouldn’t want to OR cannot want to fully recover a lost limb or regain full mobility, but that it’s the only way you can “rise above” your disability. Fully regaining the lost functionalities of your body. Be above it all.
But living with disability doesn’t mean that you’re somehow living a “lesser” life if you’re not equipped with state of the art myoelectric prosthetic limb; a lot of people without access to these more advanced prostheses live and are not languishing staring out the window longing for the sun or whatever. They have to find another way, yes, to accommodate their limitations. And that’s normal. What a grandma with a bad back can do is naturally different from what a 10 years old can do; that’s why grandmas make us put the thread through the needle eye. But we, hopefully, don’t see that as a lesser mode of living. They find workarounds, be it making use of otherwise useless tween grandchildren, or using that diamond shaped thingy. They won’t do it as fast as a 24 yo with normal eyesight but that’s a given.
And in that same way, I wish more authors actually write with their disabled characters in mind-- especially if said disabled character is part of the main cast. It’s not impossible to write a physically disabled character as part of an adventure novel cast, I promise. But you as the author, and by extension your other main characters, have to accommodate for them, too. Most of the time their limitations are something workable. Blind characters aren’t helpless, they don’t need to be superpowered to be a part of a mobile team either. I’ve read about this one team in the Philippines going on a hike up a mountain with visually-impaired youths. I was looking for a similar story specifically to write a blind character of mine, who, given the setting is ancient China, would have to navigate mountainous terrain. And from the blog post:
Unlike city sidewalks where you can predict the each step, in the mountains, every step is different: the terrain, the incline, and the many obstacles. But Jerald proved to be very intuitive in adjusting to the different kinds of trail we walked through, and as we went higher, I needed fewer words to guide him, allowing us to talk about other things.
[...]
Once, when we were resting on the trail, young Stephen correctly identified how many of us were there; and Jerald himself was very sensitive in detecting the subtle changes in the trail and in the weather. Having focused on our sense of sight, I guess we have not learned to develop our other senses to their fullest potential.
[..]
[...]  and in the end we took just the same time it would have taken had we been guiding sighted hikers.
Any writer who can actually write and are dedicated to having their disabled character treated properly would be able to acknowledge the limitations and challenges the disability would impose, yet also figure out realistic workarounds. They don’t need to be able to run up and down a mountain without tripping to deserve a place in the team. Fuck, sighted people fucking trip all the goddamn time. Sighted people can have godawful balance and suck at hiking. They don’t need to be cool and “above it all” just to offset their blindness.
This need to make the character be “above the limitations of their disabilities” can also manifest in like, hyperadvanced prosthesis. Listen man, I’m a biomedical engineering major, I understand, possibly more than you do, how exciting it can be. Each and every advancement in the field both furthers the field of engineering and that of human body and medicine. HOWEVER. Something I realize over the years is that a lot of these cutting edge science... are not actually very useful to disabled people, and are unlikely to be for at least a decade or five.
Take, for example, myoelectric prostheses. I’ll be real with you: I love this field. It was actually the reason why I majored in biomedical engineering, and I’ve been thinking about going there since 8th grade. My thesis was focused on the electrode part of the prosthesis. But the goddamn thing is $18,703 for a hand. Up to the shoulder, it’s $100,000. That cost is unlikely to go down much in the coming years. This isn’t even accounting for possible surgery costs, because of course the most cutting-edge version would require surgery that moves your fucking arm nerves to your torso to make the prosthesis move to “thought”. This isn’t even accounting for maintenance, which would require engineers with very specific skillset, probably, and would only be available in big city centers no doubt. There might only be 1-2 centers in ENTIRE COUNTRIES, if any. Did I mention that the thing is heavy in an unnatural way, and the attachment to the stump can hurt after prolonged use?
I wish I still remember the link, but I’m reminded of an article I read somewhere back during my college days. It talks about this old man who lost part of his arm, below the elbow. He operated farm machinery as part of his daily life, and in the end the arm prosthesis he chose isn’t anything with “a hand shape at the end” of it-- it was something like a hook, I think, to interact with the machinery he uses. It requires no complex structure or body that demands high maintenance, nor does it need a specialized engineer to do so. It enables him to live his life as previous. Did his life change from the loss? Of course it does. Loss is loss-- it’s something he can’t get back. But managing lifelong disability, much like any other chronic illness, is less about becoming “perfectly whole again” and more about restoring day-to-day functional capability.
And circling back to the media depiction, because I’m incredibly disorganized-- it bothers me when disabilities are used to either: 1) highlight a character’s “soft/intellectual power”, as in using the physical frailty or disability to further accentuate the power of their mind, or 2) treating the disability as though it doesn’t exist at all functionally (blind characters navigating new locations perfectly, straight up forgetting they’re disabled sometimes, I SEE YOU AUTHORS DOING THIS), or 3) cool points. I will attack you on the streets if you do this, btw.
At the end of the day, all three ways of depicting disability is incredibly... dehumanizing. So many of us are fine with fictionally navigating the limitations of people with mental illnesses, or personalities like being prideful, having addictions, etc, and yet so few would spend the 5 minutes to think, “how is my blind character going to yanno, travel though the goddamn mountains in my wuxia?”
And that fucking bothers me.

7, 8, 17, 36 for the fic ask game.
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
I like to pat myself on the back for the worldbuilding in Of Gutters and Galaxies but I love worldbuilding more than anything so I love to sprinkle it into every little thing I write just cause. And 84-C4T-R4V4G3 is just nothing but worldbuilding and playing around with TFA universe and a backstory for TFA Ravage.
8. What song would make a great fic (to either write or read)?
So many. Ocean Eyes by Billie Eilish inspired i've never fallen from quite this high because it kinda reminded me of TFA Megop from Megatron's POV and I do think that when the party's over by Billie would be amazing for an angsty unrequited love fic but I have no clue which pairing. Halcyon On and On by Orbital is always nice to have playing in the background because it's so calm and soothing. Home by Resonance is another good background song but also I think would be good for like a nice post-war domestic fluff-type fic.
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
I'm probably never gonna write this but: Human AU, Optimus works as a firefighter after being kicked out the Elite Guard Academy (which would be the equivalent of like the FBI or specialized police force) after his friend Elita got seriously wounded and ended up in a coma following he, her, and Sentinel trying to take on a case themselves. Sentinel of course is still in the Elite Guard and is a jerk to Optimus. Bumblebee, Bulkhead, Ratchet, and Prowl are all there because Optimus does volunteer work and works with them. Megatron is head of a major corporation that develops weapons and robotics, but interestingly he does not accept police or military contracts and yet somehow makes a ton of money. Ultra Magnus, head of the Elite Guard, is suspicious of Megatron's company and sends Optimus in as an undercover agent with the promise that if his mission goes right, he can rejoin the Guard. Megatron is told Optimus is just there to visit his labs and offices for a week to negotiate a possible contract with the Elite Guard and to aid in an ongoing investigation of various weapon thefts around the city but Optimus is actually there retrieving intel to see if he's doing anything illegal (spoiler alert he is). Other Decepticons all work for the company in various capacity, be it research and development or accounting or weapons testing. Cue the whole "oh no he's hot" and a little slow burn and inevitable heartbreak.
36. Do you visualize what you read/write?
YES I have to or I will legit get lost while writing. I have to visualize the character's movements in my head, as well as their expressions, and check height charts to double check if someone needs to be looking up, down, or straight ahead when talking to another character. I'll also sometimes draw layouts of rooms or places to help guide myself as well.

storm triplets anon here! i uh…need a little review for the lightning quirk. its in no ways done, but i wanted to have your feedback on it.(also sorry im sending this on mobile) Quirk: Electrified Description: The user possesses a large lightning mark on their back. The quirk activates when the user claps its hands. When it activates, the mark on the user’s back lights up and is ‘electrified’ and the user temporarily transitions into a powerful state, (1/4)
visually looking like they’ve been struck by lightning. There, the user’s senses have been greatly enhanced, reaction time and speed greatly modified, and the user is surrounded by powerful electrical energy which they can control up to a very limited area around them. This state can be used to travel far distances, aid in mobility, and amplify forces of attacks. The mark at the back represents the amount of energy the user has left, so they must be careful to conserve their energy. (2/4)
When the transformation runs out, the user is left with the drawbacks of numbness of receptors all over their body, as well as general physical tiredness depending on the energy they consume. I was thinking of the user being able to do partial transformations, where the energy doesn’t have to collect all the way for the user to use it, though it is weaker than the full transformation, but I’m not too sure about that. I am also struggling to find a way where the user could collect the energy. (3/4)
Do they make it themselves through general physical rest? Get it from natural resources like sunlight? Don’t know about that aspect yet. And also, aside from the non specific uses for the quirk, what do you think are other creative ways to use it? As always, I appreciate your constant feedback on the quirks people send you. Please take all the time you need for this ask, it’s kinda long haha. Thank you and have a wonderful day! (4/4)
First off, nice to see you back. I hope I can help you out again. Though I’ve already talked about how an electrical Quirk like this could be used before, so I will focus on the Quirk here.
I think that this works fine. I've even done something similar to it before with "Direct Current". I'm not sure about controlling it, as the user is already getting all the benefits from this, but you could still have it so they can shock people on contact. I don't exactly understand the point of having the user's senses enhanced with the Quirk. I just don't see the through line of the user enhancing themselves with electricity and boosting their senses. Unless there is something I am not getting about how powers like these usually work. That or the lightning symbol, but it doesn't really hurt anything. Also, this doesn't really affect the Quirk, but I would put the lightning symbol on the user's chest. It would be a neat center piece for a hero costume and could work as a reference to Shazam. I think that the user getting it from a personal reserve that charges up would be fine and would help balance the Quirk some. You could have it so the user gains it from absorbing sources of sunlight or electricity, but I think that both of those would be too easy of a source to draw on for a power like this. Though if you do do that, I'm not sure about slowing the user down like that, as both accomplish the same thing of keeping the user from using it too long. Maybe the parts that slow the user down could come from after draining their battery as a result of using the Quirk without the proper energy to fuel it.

JVC Post #18
Phoenix (Dawn)
Tumblr media
This manga excels at what does well, and the things it does poorly hurts it a lot.
This manga has all the great marks of Osamu's style both visually and in terms of the writing. I really like the various silly gags and absurd jokes that are thrown in. It gives the manga a certain feeling that's really unique to Osamu's work I think. It's also stunning visually of course. Thinking about how this was released in the late 60s lets me appreciate the artistry even more.
I also really loved the Phoenix herself. I think she's a really great character which a wonderful design. The way she talks to the characters and the sort of heavenly glow she has are both my favorite parts of her character. The bug metaphor was also wonderful. I've always liked pointing to bugs as a metaphor for impermanence.
Unfortunately, there's quite a bit wrong with the actual content itself that it really just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. The way Nagi forgives his captor, Saruta, even after he brutally slaughtered his village especially bothered me. This is on top of the really bad writing of the women as well. Take Himiko for example: A powerful woman who's main weakness and motivation for pursuing the phoenix is her fading beauty and fear of becoming old. Then there's Hinaku, who resigns herself to the spy who aided in the surprise genocide of her tribe to produce thousands of children, and Uzume, who's main trait is being secretly beautiful. Then at the end, her glorious moment is being able to bear Saruta's child and give birth to someone in Yamatai.
It's really disheartening, but also sort of expected for the time. I think you'd be hard pressed to find writers during this time, mangaka or not, writing nuanced women. Frankly, mangaka still struggle to do that today. On the other hand, the forgiveness of Saruta and Em Dee are, in my opinion, kind of insane. I don't think I need to mention what's wrong with "you only did what you were ordered to do".
Tumblr media
That being said, it's clear that there is a ton mythological influence in this manga, so it's possible that some of these things are carried over from there rather than added in by Tezuka. A great example of this was the scene where Himiko hid in the cave during the eclipse, which could be seen as a parody of the story of Amaterasu hiding in the cave (As Hutchinson mentions in her article). I think this was a really creative and interesting way to adapt Japanese history and mythology in a way that invites critical analysis all things considered. The storytelling techniques Tezuka uses are very innovative.
It's not just the internal(?) storytelling and narrative though, its also the storytelling used outside of the main story in the form of the historical notes, and the way he takes advantage of manga's ability to have the work reference itself and it's subject as objects. He not only calls into question the subject of the work, Japanese history and mythology, he calls attention critically to the fact that his work is also something that is being written by him, and that it's subject to a critical evaluation all the same.
This quote from Hutchinson puts it perfectly:
Tezuka’s critique is especially effective because he manipulates and exploits the specificities of the manga medium to turn our attention to history and nation as objects, as well as to his own manga as a constructed object itself. Tezuka exploits not just word and image, but also layout and self-reflexivity, for full critical potential.

For simplicity, sup’Cook with the pan was the most successful due to scalability. However, the idea of using a frying spoon/ spatula to form a hand waving would’ve been a good logo. (Maybe it’s because I made it too complex)
The main inspiration for the logo and name was using calm language. A brand name, one very recognisable can be good especially with a specific target audience. A cool greeting to give the consumers. Our tone being friendly, ‘Sup’Cook’ made the most sense. Most names were taken too.
Imagining the brand blooming, the second o forms a frying pan. In the end, Rich stated it was too complicated, thus, it needed visation.
Color palette
There’s a mix of colors in the palette. From high saturated bright colors to neutrals. To be energetic, the focus lied in the bright colours such as the orange. Then neutrals such as the beige/cream color played in contrasting it. Personally, I tried to avoid using the red as possible. The reason being as red is too harsh for the eye and some color blind individuals can’t see red.
Typeface
For the logo, it required a bubbly typeface. This is why Ice-cream slant was chosen. Brother font is simple and legible. Thus, the best option for the app overall.
Avatar
The avatars were inspired by modern day illustration vector style. Very neat and simple. Often using analogous or contrasting colors (a color pallet mostly consists of similar saturations) This can be hard to achieve but Flora made it. (Note; this is specific to the avatars, not the brand as a whole).
Wireframes.
We mostly focused on getting the concept out there and not on details. This is why there was a lot of nitpicking during the presentation (Really appreciate it). Thus, we know how to amend it to be a beautiful portfolio piece.
From the presentation, this were the problems I analysed.
Consistency in bars – There isn’t consistency and connection between the pages, the illustrations could’ve really aligned everything together.
Text - I’m thinking of changing the font type. Depending on how it appears with more of the other features, it may remain the same as I absolutely do not have much time to think of changing it.
Loading screen – There needs to be a loading screen before the homepage similar to most games.
Option for continental food – The target audience being students and since we are in England, ( I’m the only non-Brit), there was focus on English food. However, we should’ve considered internationals and even some Brits have preferences for intercontinental meals.
Rounded corners – The bars were disjointed. Some being squared, the others being round. Thus, that needed to be changed quickly.
Text in dietary page – The text in the dietary page seems off.
Snapchat filter – Food photography can be difficult, thus we need to consider a filter to make it appear appealing.
Prototyping – This can effectively showcase how the users use the app.

Group therapy vs individual therapy:
In previous posts, art therapy has been defined as a means of personal expression to communicate feelings.  It is not just for people who are artistically gifted, as this form of expression of available to anyone who is physically able.  As Liebmann (2006) claims, art is relevant to a lot of people, and can help grapple serious mental health issues as well as people wanting to explore themselves.  For this reason, art therapy is a therapeutic method that is not exclusive to people with mental health conditions, but instead is an accessible method of self-exploration or self-soothing.
Because of the soothing nature of group art, it is often led by other professionals who are not art therapists but see the benefits of this type of art session.  When led by someone from outside the art therapist profession, it is often called something else, such as ‘emotional education’ (Liebmann, 2006).  This is useful to me as I am interested in offering some of the healing qualities of this professional through my project, without being an art therapist myself.  This shows that there is scope for me to ‘led’ art therapy through my final product.  This is in contrast to Mead (2020) who states that certain art practices “can certainly be helpful for many, unless a licensed art therapist has designed them, they cannot be considered art therapy”.  It can be argued that if an activity is healing, aiding mindfulness, helping with relaxation or other mental health benefits, then it is therapeutic even if the activity wasn’t designed by a licensed art therapist.  However, I think Mead (who is a licensed art therapist) is referring to the term ‘art therapy’.  For instance, a painting activity on a certain theme might be therapeutic, but it’s not ‘art therapy’ if not led by an art therapist.
The purpose of group art therapy is to enhance social factors such as awareness and appreciation of others, communication, sharing problems, and relating to others.  There are also personal benefits that can be gained from group and individual art therapy.  These include creativity and spontaneity, expression, freedom, self-awareness and relaxation. Another reason art is a good medium for therapy is that anyone can take part at their own artistic level, and it can allow you to tap into emotions, fantasies and unconscious thoughts.  Unlike most other forms of therapy, art therapy produces something tangible that can be examined later.  Liebmann (2006) recommends groups of six to twelve, so that all members can maintain visual and verbal contact with each other.  In larger groups, people tend to split into smaller groups and form cliques.  Having one cohesive group allows better interaction and sharing of ideas.  A group this size also gives every member enough time to have a say in the discussion.  It is important that the groups get to know each other, and newcomers are introduced.  This means there will always be time set aside in group art therapy sessions for ‘getting-to-know-you' activities.
In her book, Liebmann (2006) outlines different methods of group art therapy activities.  It is important to note that not all themes will suit everyone, and the leader or therapist, and the participants, have to be comfortable with them.  Themes should be structured enough that there is a recognisable theme, but not so specific that it doesn’t leave room for interpretation or personal choice.  ‘Paint a childhood incident’ could be a good starting point.  The purpose of having a theme is to give participants somewhere to start but it needs to be flexible enough that they can take it their own direction.
A form of informal group therapy could be ‘Drink and Draw’, which is a pop-up drawing session where you can meet other people, have a few drinks if you choose and do some doodling.  There are two main ways of doodling. The first is mindful doodling, where you are thinking about what you are drawing, and the second is doodling as daydreaming, which is absentmindedly scribbling, and often results in shapes and patterns.  Both can be meditative and relaxing.  “Coping with a pandemic is stressful — even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) source says so. Meanwhile, scientists, artists, and teachers agree that doodling soothes” (Sosnoski, 2020). Doodling is also a good mood regulator as it activates the reward pathway in the brain.  Doodling, colouring and drawing all activate the medial prefrontal cortex, which indicates the potential of clinical applications of perceiving rewards perception through making art (Kaimal et al., 2017). Drink and Draw events can benefit people who might be closed minded to therapy as they are able to get the rewards of the sessions without thinking about it being therapeutic.  The same can be said for people who look down on art as a form of expression, because they can partake in this as a social event and enjoy the benefits of drawing without thinking of it as art.
As individual art therapy is more focused on the individual, the themes will be closely linked to their specific needs.  For instance, if someone is having trouble communicating with others, an art therapy activity could be to think of a person they wish to communicate with and draw a visual representation of how they feel on one side of a postcard.  On the other side, they can write what they would like to say to that person (Mead, 2020).  Another activity could be a collage.  This can be useful for expressing core values.
Individual therapy can be beneficial for people who lack the confidence to work in groups, and would prefer to work in a private environment where they won’t feel judged by others. Individual therapy may be more appropriate for people who would otherwise hide in a group setting, as wouldn’t get the focused attention that they might need (Art Therapy Resources, 2022).  Although group therapy can be good for improving communication skills, going straight into group therapy could be daunting.  Individual therapy can create a place where clients can feel safe and build confidence. This can then act as a gateway to group therapy once the client is ready to move into a group setting.
Another benefit of individual therapy is that it can be arranged at a time and day that is convenient for the client.  This increases the likelihood of the client attending.
There is an activity recommended by Mead (2020) that taps into what I would like to create as my final piece.  I want to design and make customisable therapy dolls and teddy bears that people can hold onto to feel comforted.  The activity is about creating a safe space from cardboard and other materials and it can be a good project for “kids and young adults who often have little control of their environments and struggle to ever feel safe. This project may help a child or teen reflect on ways to find a safe space" (Mead, 2020). Although my work is not a space, it is still about helping people feel safe and comforted.  My dolls could be something to hold when they feel unable to control other parts of their life.  The customisable aspect of the dolls could tap into something that reminds them of a safe place.
Another activity mentioned is more geared towards adults with body image issues or eating disorders.  This is another area I hope to address with my final piece as I have designed characters with different body shapes to show that we all come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and that’s okay.  I want my designs to show diversity and show that our uniqueness is something to be celebrated instead of being ashamed or embarrassed.  The activity for body image in to create beautiful masks in whatever way they like, and then encourage them to think about what is behind the mask, what they are hiding and why they are hiding.  This resonates with my project as I want to encourage people to be comfortable with who they are.
The self-care box is a popular technique in other forms of therapy (Good Therapy, 2019).  One version of this is whenever a negative thought comes into your head, write it down and out it in the box. The idea is that the thought is removed from you and placed somewhere else.  This type of box doesn’t get opened, but another version is to make a note of any ideas and things to do when feeling overwhelmed, as placing them in a box means they are accessible later when you are less overwhelmed.  Placing them in a box means the ideas will still be there later but allows you to focus on the task you need to be doing at that time. I think this as a time capsule of ideas and tasks.  The art therapy self-care box involves thinking about what self-care means to you and creating a physical box that aligns with your own ideas of self-care.  This could mean affirmations on the outside of the box, or it could be painted in a colour that’s soothing to you. The box then gets filled with trinkets for self-care, such as photos, quotes, pressed flowers, worry stones etc.   This links into my idea for a healing character because I want my character to have similar ways of healing, by containing quotes and other care items.
Some people might take part in an informal form of art therapy by doing art or craft projects to soothe them.  This was seen more during the Covid-19 pandemic as lockdown had changed art.  Art was affected by Covid because of the closures of galleries and theatres, but it also encouraged more street art, outdoor installations and performances being streamed online (Zelazko, 2020).  As well as a change to the professional world of art, the Covid lockdown encouraged more people to take up arts and crafts, not only to fill up their time but as a way of improving well-being.  “With much of the world on lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, hands-on hobbies like crocheting, flower pressing and baking have gained traction as relaxing alternatives to screen-heavy activities” (Machemer, 2020). It can be argued that the increase in arts and crafts was a way to improve wellbeing and mental health.  Heather Parnell, who is a lecturer in MA Arts Practice (Arts, Health and Wellbeing) at University of South Wales and a member of the Swansea Bay University Health Board, provided creativity kits to some vulnerable members of the community to help them to stay creative during lockdown, as she said was a way to support mental health at that time.  The kit also came with an ideas prompt sheet to help people who didn’t have their own ideas for crafts projects (USW, 2020).  This shows that engaging in arts has therapeutic or healing properties.  Even simple doodles can be a good way to self soothe and relax. According to Sosnoski, (2020) this is backed up by scientific research.  One of the benefits of doodling is that it can mitigate technology overload that people might have felt during the pandemic and the rise of online meetings.
In conclusion, although art therapy has similar approaches and benefits, whether it is individual or group therapy, formal or informal, there are some key differences.  Groups have a set theme or medium that everyone in the group does, whereas individual therapy is more open, and the participant can express themselves however they want, with whatever available artistic tools they choose. Group therapy includes a community feel, and a nice time with others, but there also needs to be ‘getting to know each other’ activities as part of the therapy.  Although this is useful, it takes time away from the art practice which doesn’t happen in individual therapy.  Most of the methods can be applied to group or individual therapy.  This means that method shouldn’t be a deciding factor for choosing group or individual therapy.  In an ideal world, it would be the choice of the individual, but in reality, the decision is more likely to be based on what type of art therapy is available.

Learn the Alphabet with Donnie!
Synopsis: This is the NSFW Alphabet tag I’ve been wanting to do for ages. My first attempt was auto-banned, so I’m trying to be careful now.
Word count: 1774
Genre: Obvious
Tumblr media
A = Aftercare (What they’re like after sex)
All 👏about 👏the aftercare👏! He'll make sure you're clean and comfortable, carefully cleaning you up with one of maybe ten towels he keeps near every surface he ever thought of fucking you on (under his bed, two in the lab, in the needle room, etc). He makes sure you have a fresh set of clothes in the Lair, and tries to dress you after every 'session' (he likes to call it that, because despite being a sex god, he's squeamish about the word).
Prepare for all the snacks and soft drinks in the world.
If you're in the mood he'll even put on a movie to watch while you fall asleep.
B = Body part (Their favourite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
His: Legs. Ever since that time you told him you love his thighs and how tall he is, he's been slowly getting into this whole self-appreciation business.
Yours: Your whole body, but if he had to be really specific - neck. It's one of those fascinating human things, that your neck is constantly exposed and so, so very vulnerable. If he were to mark his territory (which he does) that's where he would do it.
C = Cum (Anything to do with cum basically… I’m a disgusting person)
So. Much. Cum.
I mean, all the boys are huge, they produce A LOT of the stuff.
But unlike Raph and Leo, Donnie doesn't necessarily enjoy the sight of his, there's something deeply animalistic in the amount and feeling, and he refuses to fall to his most baser instincts.
D = Dirty Secret (Pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He actually might kinda sort of like being dommed.
BUT DON'T YOU TELL ANYONE!
Raph caught him watching… some films once where a man was being VERY GENTLY bossed around by a lady in a leather suit, who referred to him as 'pet', and ever since you two started dating he's been calling him a 'boy toy' just to annoy him.
E = Experience (How experienced are they? Do they know what they’re doing?)
Welp… Not much.
But where he lacks experience in the field, he makes up for it in research. That's right, y'all, Donnie is a Research king!
F = Favourite Position (This goes without saying. Will probably include a visual)
He doesn't really have a specific position he likes, but for the most part, anything that let's him look at your face during sex. So anything from missionary, to mating press, to cowgirl, he's okay with.
G = Goofy (Are they more serious in the moment, or are they humorous, etc)
Oh, you know this boy will be dropping dirty puns left and right. And he usually has a problem shutting up when he's excited, imagine that with all the oxitocin in his brain, when his filter is even less present.
Donnie: You said you felt guilty about that slice of cake, right?
S/O: Yeah?
Donnie: Let me burn off those calories.
-
Donnie: Dove, you're so wet I might need an umbrella.
H = Hair (How well groomed are they, does the carpet match the drapes, etc.)
Nope, no carpet to match the drapes.
I = Intimacy (How are they during the moment, romantic aspect…)
He's usually hyper-focused, he treats sex almost like a little project, with a clear objective - you, wholly, entirely fucked out. He's nothing if not thorough, always has his hands on you, tries to maintain eye contact as much as he can.
J = Jack Off (Masturbation headcanon)
Aha.
A lot of that.
Both before and after you became a couple.
Before it used to be someone random on his mind, but after you met, that was it for him, he always thinks of you now.
He mostly goes to 'help himself' either late at night, after patrol, or whenever you're not around. He's a needy boy, he's always ready for action, but he realises you have to sleep sometimes.
Sometimes he'd even pull up the nudes you sent him, 'for visual aid'.
K = Kink (One or more of their kinks)
Again, he doesn't have a particular one he enjoys most, apart from praise. Verbal praise is what makes him melt.
Everything else is still on the table: roleplay, toys, wax, spanking, food, he's all for it.
L = Location (Favourite places to do the do)
Anywhere (The Lab, his bed, your bed, their kitchen, your kitchen, their bathroom, any bathroom, whatever table, some corner of some alley somewhere)
M = Motivation (What turns them on, gets them going)
Anything (something in a movie reminded him of you, he saw someone on patrol that looked kinda like you, wearing his color, wearing his brothers' colors, wearing too much, not wearing much, a Halloween costume, you just mentioning the word 'sex'), get ready to go to poundtoun any time if the day.
N = NO (Something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
BDSM - he doesn't enjoy pain (inflicting or being inflicted on). He's a caring bean, he will never inflict pain on you, more than he knows you can take, which he's always worried about (humans are small and fragile in his mind, and he has to hold back his strength the whole time, which takes away any possible enjoyment there was to be had).
Degradation is also something he'd hate to do. Either side is bad for him, he couldn't force himself to use anything but loving and positive language about you, and with all of his insecurities about everything, he won't really enjoy being called names.
O = Oral (Preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc)
He's a natural giver. He's a people-pleaser. He will never object to going down on you. For like 24h straight.
Though he won't ask, he loves a good head. But he's also scared for you, he doesn't know what could happen, but secretly loves it when you actually want to do it.
P = Pace (Are they fast and rough? Slow and sensual? etc.)
Whatever the occasion calls for. He's never one to stick to a specific style because it's easy.
He'll feel out the mood, and then give you exactly what you want and need at a certain moment.
Q = Quickie (Their opinions on quickies rather than proper sex, how often, etc.)
All of the quickies!
See point L, M, but this boy is always in the mood. Just give him the go-ahead and he's ready, that's how much you effect him, you can have him ready with just a look.
He doesn't necessarily prefer it to actual, proper sex, but again, whatever the situation calls for.
Sometimes neither of you have the time or patience to find the right place and do it properly. Sometimes the kitchen counter is fine.
R = Risk (Are they game to experiment, do they take risks, etc.)
He's a scientist, i.e. a natural experimentalist (yes, it is an actual word, I checked). He'll try anything you want, and every once in a while he'll ask for something he likes as well (after some time, he'll get more comfortable with you and start being more and more open with his desires)
S = Stamina (How many rounds can they go for, how long do they last…)
Welp, he's a ninja, and they're trained in stamina. But he has his moments. At first he wouldn't last all that long, it took some 'training' to get to the ideal point where he can go for hours.
T = Toy (Do they own toys? Do they use them? On a partner or themselves?)
At first, he doesn't own any (why would he) but after you show an active interest in them, he'd start his own little collection. Nothing outrageous.
Just a Hitachi wand, some vibes, some dildos, and (I genuinely believe this would happen) a set of custom plugs with a turtle on the top.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He's not usually much of a tease, he's used to being the one teased, but hell let loose after a bit and throw in an extra line of 'Had enough yet?' or 'How come you make so much noise now, and are so quiet during the day?' He's a chatterbox, of course he'd tease a bit, but never in a degrading or demeaning way.
V = Volume (How loud they are, what sounds they make)
He may not be loud but he's vocal!
From the talking, to grunts and huffs of air, to all-out moaning, his own set of noises (often referred to as 'churring'), to whining and whimpering when he's close. He's not a good liar, and he's not an actor, he can't hide what he's feeling, especially during sex.
W = Wild Card (Get a random headcanon for the character of your choice)
Roleplay is something he found by accident. When you dressed up as Velma from Scrooby Doo on Halloween, and he nearly came in his pants when you said 'Hi'.
From then on, the costumes and acts change, but his interest never wanes.
He loves it when you wear costumes from his favourite films and comics (Barbarella, Velma obvs, Inspector Gadget, Betty from Archie Comics, Raven from Teen Titans, and please, please, please put on those Pikachu ears and lingerie, hell go nuts)
But also likes the regular things: nurse or doctor, scientist (we all know that), professor, police officer.
All of the costumes!
And of course he likes playing Doctor Don and the evil scientist every once in a while. He knows you enjoy those too, and is happy that he found someone to share his nerd interests.
X = X-Ray (Let’s see what’s going on in those pants, picture or words)
👀
I mean…
He's 6'8" so….
Y = Yearning (How high is their sex drive?)
His sex drive is high all the time, I mean this boy drinks a pint of coffee and energy drinks every hour or so, his hormones are constantly running amuck.
Thing is, he won't act constantly horny, but he will once the thought of sex is put into his head, which, with how fast his ind runs could be anytime.
Z = ZZZ (… how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Not very quickly. He usually struggles to sleep, at any point, that's why he's developed his unhealthy sleeping pattern.
He will take his time, to clean you up, get you comfy, maybe you can both take a shower if you want that, he'd make sure to get you anything you want before moving you to bed and letting you rest.
He's sleep easier with you after sex, than he usually does, but it takes a while for the tiredness to hit him.

Dana's Owl House AMA, a summary
• Eda is about mid to late 40s, and it's the same with Lilith except she's 2 years older. Gus is 12, Willow is 14 and King is "???????" years old
• When Lilith joined the Emperor's Coven, she dyed her hair to look "intimidating"
• Dana appreciates the positive press coverage of Enchanting Grom Fright, and she appreciates the negative ones as well "because I live to troll jerks :)"
• The teacher that Amity referred to as mom back in Lost In Language was not Lilith, in fact they're not really close and Amity lost a lot of respect for Lilith after Covention
• We may see more of Viney, Jerbo and Barcus soon
• When asked about what Luz's favourite anime was, Dana replied with a lengthy list stating that she thought about it too much
• Amity and Luz are confirmed to be lesbian and bisexual respectively
• Amity might dress in a "punk aesthetic" to impress people but she's more of a jock in Dana's mind
• When asked about King's broken horn, Dana just replied with "all will be revealed eventually"
• Dana hopes Season 2 will make us cry
• Originally, the gems on Eda and Lilith's chests was just going to be an in-world fashion choice. But during production for The Intruder she decided to use Eda's gem as a visual aid for the curse
• There's more to Amity's parents than we know, which can be either good or bad for our main cast. Also, Dana had fun writing Mr Blight stating that he was interesting
• We may see Luz celebrate her quinceanera (her 15th birthday) but that's if the show gets a third season
• Luz is Amity's first (big) crush
• We'll get to know everyone a bit better in S2
• Hooty apparently has an evil twin, Booty (I'm pretty sure this is just for laughs though)
• In the first episode, there was a background character that looked similar to Amity in design (the one with the pink stripe). Dana revealed that Amity did have a different design originally
• Edric and Emira are salty about getting stood up at Grom but they'll get over it as "they'll have plenty of distractions"
• There will not be a musical episode
• It was a last minute idea for Dana to include "Talk to the glyph, witch!" in Young Blood, Old Souls
• According to Dana, Disney is "historically weird" in terms of merch
• "Bird-themed things are generally a Clawthrone thing"
• Dana has always wanted to do an official graphic novel
• Eda and Lilith are confirmed to have more sibling moments
• Dana has no least favourite character design, but the puppeteer in Witches Before Wizards freaks her out
• Eda has been to vegas before and was not impressed
• Eda will win against Lilith in Hexes Hold'em, but most likely by cheating
• When a witch joins a coven, they're physically unable to perform magic outside of that area. Basic spells like levitation for small objects can be done but with great difficulty
• Witch is a gender-neutral term, wizards are a title which you can call yourself and "warlock" is akin to "edgelord" in the Demon Realm
• Spencer Wan is the only in-house animator (animation supervisor) for Season 1, and to acquire this Dana had to sit through many meetings with executives to get this position. The in-house animator for Season 2 will be Kofi Fiagome
• We can expect parental conflict, a lot of emotions, island exploration and new characters in S2
• Lilith's palisman is alive like Owlbert
• If Eda's curse can be healed her hair will not turn back to its original colour
• Belos has specific inspirations which will be revealed in S2
• King's backstory is deeper than we think
• Amity and Willow's relationship has a long way to go, but the air between them is definitely lighter now
• When asked about the codes hidden in the show, Dana said that in high school, Dana would spend her summers in Russia, and her and her Russian classmate would pass each other notes that was a mix of both the English and Russian alphabet. From there their secret language developed and changed and helped inspire the codes, along with Gravity Falls
• Luz would play minecraft and spend all her time building castles and coming up with stories for the towns she built
• Dana has many favourites on the show, but she loves Eda and King. She tends to like the characters she has the easiest time writing
• Willow works out every morning. Unlike Boscha, she doesn't brag about it
• Everything that people responded to from S1 (especially the last few episodes), there will be more of in S2
• No one's really sure what Hooty's made of
• Many Boiling Isles sculptors and architects are part of the Construction Coven
• Eda's bile sac stopped producing the chemicals needed to produce magic on her own. It's still there although it's useless now
• Luz is "a bit of a bonehead" when it comes to Amity's signals (Dana doesn't mean this as an insult)
• 4 years ago when Dana pitched the original idea for the show an old writing partner told him that no one would watch a show about an old lady, so she made the pitch bible out of spite
• Creepy Luz was actually a joke in response to the line, "maybe I'll meet a hot yet vulnerable upperclassman" from The First Day, but Dana likes the doppelganger theory and will neither confirm nor deny that she exists
• Dana likes to think that Boscha and Amity's moms have a rivalry from childhood and still compete with one another through their kid's achievements
• Edric and Emria's hair is naturally green like Mrs Blight's while Amity's hair is naturally brown like her dad's and Mrs Blight likes her children to be...colour coordinated
• The demon on Principal Bump is named Frewin, that's all for now
• The application of glyphs and their uses will be covered in Season 2
• A palisman is our world's equivalent of a "witch's familiar"
• Witches will usually carve their palisman from a special type of wood in their teens in school or with parental supervision
• A palisman uses their own source of power outside of a witch's bile sac
• Witches can join covens when they graduate school, and if they're talented enough they can leave early and join a coven
• Why King wears a collar will be revealed in S2
• Yes, Dana is aware of Lego Eda's existence

>>>> namely the brown rat, Rattus norvegicus, but could really go for any rat (e.g. black rat, Gambian rat, spiny rat, fantasy rat creatures, etc)
>>> hell you can even throw in mice and other largely detested rodents
Has the features common to all punk, rebellion against the mainstream and the fight against oppression, just in relation to rats somehow
>>>> can have the visual aesthetic side of punk as well
>>>> can also have the visual aes of any -punk aesthetic as a result (e.g. solarpunk, trenderpunk, spacepunk, cyberpunk, etc)
Also specifically contains themes of loving, appreciating, and caring for rats instead of detesting them
>>>> e.g. activism against lab cruelty, correcting myths about the bubonic plague, promoting ethical breeding practices, correcting myths about hygiene, spreading correct information of any sort, being soft and gentle and nurturing toward rats, depicting rats in positive and clean light, making sure others are aware of rats’ needs before welcoming some into their lives, activism against kill traps and promotion of humane/live traps, activism against unethical treatment of feeders, etc etc
Textual examples of ratpunk:
“For loving, not testing”
“Adopt, don’t shop”
“Before you consider treating a rat this way, stop and consider whether you would treat a puppy this way”
“Fuck PETA”
“Pet rat =/= street rat”
“I [rats] spend as much time grooming as your cat”
“We’re [rats are] not vermin”
“I [rats] don’t live in the sewers”
“Yeah well, I [rats] think you’re gross too”
“Buy from a breeder, never a pet store”
“Rats are friends, not food!”
so much more
Things you might do that are ratpunk:
Engineering humane/live traps
Speaking out against the treatment of feeders
Rescuing feeders, disabled rats, sick/injured rats, aggressive rats, rats living alone, and other rats facing rejection/hardship
Speaking out against this shit
Enlightening people about the emotional capacities and needs of rats, such as the classic compassion study and studies about why you cannot own only one
Guiding first-time rat owners through ethically caring for their rats
Helping people rehome their rats when needed
>>>> e.g. helping them find a new home, helping them move the rats to their new home, helping them cope after rehoming rats, etc
Being loving toward rats
Guiding people toward ethical breeders instead of pet stores
so SO much more
Common ratpunk visuals and concepts
Art of rats + visual punk aesthetics
Rats saying punk phrases
>>>> e.g. guillotine the rich, aromantic rights are human rights, down with cis, trans women are women, my body my choice, unionize, BLM, stop Asian hate, decriminalize drugs, queer rights, punch nazis, indigenous rights, abolish the police, etc
Rats in “punk” outfits (1)(2)
Punks with rats
Rats advocating for and supporting punk themes
>>>> e.g. clean energy, socialism/communism/anarchism, wearing masks, getting vaccinated, antifa, universal health care, radical self-acceptance, mutual aid, consent culture, etc)
Rats rejecting mainstream and oppressive systems
>>>> e.g. capitalism, police, prison system, cringe culture, binarism/exorsexism, losing disability when you get married, conservatives, gender norms, pronoun conformity, label policing, religious bigotry, colonialism, “curing” autism, 13th amendment + mass incarceration loophole, rape culture, fascism, eugenics and genocide, anti-NPD/ASPD rhetoric, classism, etc)
so so SO much more
*This aesthetic already largely exists and is shared by just about every ratblr out there, but I just thought I’d coin and tack a name onto it so that we can share ratpunk-specific things in one tag maybe!
So yeah, have fun ratpunking. :>c

What does it mean when I have a Capricorn signature?
Signature Sign In Astrology
You might have heard the term signature sign thrown around if you’ve been studying astrology for a while. Others of you might not have heard if this concept at all. It isn’t as well-known, however, it can reveal significant information about you.
What it Means
To put it plainly, the astrological signature sign is the zodiac sign that’s the most specific to you and your character.
How to find it
It involves noting which element and quality/modality appear the most or has the most signs and then combining them into a zodiac sign which is taken to be the signature sign of the chart. It will be easy to do because certain characteristics of signs will repeat themselves. It’s the most frequent modality and element in your natal chart.
Ex. 1 A person has more fire signs than any other element, and more fixed signs than any other quality, then that person's signature is Leo. In some cases, there is no clear majority in either element or quality to give a clear signature. When this occurs, an individual has an Ambiguous Signature.
Ex. 2  Let’s say you are a Taurus Sun, a fixed earth sign. But many planets in mutable signs take up residence in your chart. In addition, you have a multitude of planets in water. This makes you feel like a Neptunian/Pisces, which is a mutable water sign. You might not have many or any for that matter significant placements in Pisces but somehow still identify with the qualities of the sign to a great extent.
How To Find It Cont.
You weigh the elements and modalities of the sign where a planet is located in your chart. Begin with the Sun, next Moon and repeat this process for all the planets in your natal chart: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The ascendant and the Midheaven also have to be considered.
Signature Signs Through The Zodiac
Aries signature
If Aries is your signature sign, you are ambitious and have a strong will. Boss-like. Warrior. Killer instinct. Can sometimes be hot-headed and impulsive, it happens that you act before you think instead of the other way around which can get you into serious trouble. Don’t be Oberyn from GoT and get cocky now. However, you’re a born leader and like to initiate things. Taking action is your second nature. No one will ever pull the Hermit card or 4 of cups for you in a Tarot reading. Way too active. A straightforward sign, which sometimes blends into bluntness, bossiness, or take-no-prisoners attitude. Being independent is very important to you. You hate being told what to do. You like to work alone if you can. Competitive and brave, someone who loves new challenges. You love to win. Will always be after new opportunities to conquer.
Taurus signature
If Taurus is your astrological signature sign, you prefer to think before you act. Need a lot of time to make a decision, but once it’s done, nothing can make you change your mind. You are incredibly stubborn and persistent. Taurus is the sign of hedonism. If this is your signature sign in astrology, you know how to enjoy life. You appreciate good food, beautiful clothes, and everything luxurious. Taurus craves stability, both financially and emotionally. You are dependable and passionate. Love to cook and or shop for expensive and good quality things. Can be jealous in love or possessive as well. Bullheaded to the point of no return but just as ambitious when it comes to cultivating stability and wealth.
Gemini signature
If Gemini is your signature sign, you are curious, witty, and chatty. You are a great observant, someone who notices every detail, and then make a pun about it. Gemini is incredibly smart. They love to read and write, and they are usually talented when it comes to expressing themselves. However, Gemini because of their mercurial flighty nature can lack focus if they don’t reign it in somehow. This flightiness can give others the impression that they are sometimes superficial. You get bored veryyy quickly. Because of this, you need a lot of mental stimulation. Geminis are life-long learners, they are simply in love with knowledge. Need to be sure to keep that devil and angel [your twins] aligned so as to not make enemies or be seen as two-faced.
Cancer signature
If Cancer is your signature sign in astrology, you are a gentle soul. However, you become easily overwhelmed with others. Cancer is a crab and will retreat into its shell if it’s not in the mood to deal. Can be moody and or need a lot of time on your own, in the safety of your home. They like to be surrounded by family members. You are soft and caring. HIGHKEY intuitive and can sense the emotions of others easily [especially when developed.] They are extremely protective of their loved ones. Will pinch you with their claws if you mess with them or someone they care about.
Leo signature
If your signature sign is Leo, you have a big heart. Quite warm and sincere. Famous for its generosity. They, like Jupiterians like to give- especially in terms of love and affection. Leos need luxury around them. They are the royalty of the zodiac, right? They enjoy being around others, making people laugh and cheering them up. Have lots of energy but a big ego to go with it. They love attention and might court it often or simply get it naturally since the Sun is in the mix here. Too much of the negative manifestation of Leo can make one prone to arrogance, bossiness, and boastfulness. It’s important to realize that this wounds people around you. If you show others your soft side, they will give you all the love you crave.
Virgo signature
If Virgo is your signature sign, you are modest, effective, and helpful. Deeply analytical and process information at the drop of a hat. Productivity is very important to you. Virgos have a high attention to detail, and they solve problems by analyzing them. Rational and cerebral thinking is one of your greatest strengths. Quite reliable and have a strong sense of duty. Can be hyper-critical and a bit too compulsive in their tendencies. Prone to nervousness and anxious habits. However, this sign has a very powerful brain. They prefer thinking over feeling, which can be sometimes challenging for them.
Libra signature
If your signature sign is Libra, you’ll be quite elegant. Venusian, baby. No matter what they do, they’ll make sure to do it with their face on and in their best attire. Libras are graceful and charming. They have great social skills, and they get along with everyone. However, sometimes they don’t stand up for themselves even when they should or because they wish to avoid conflict at all costs. They can also be a bit superficial which might be perceived as “fake” by some. There’s a deep need to be liked. Quite good taste though. Keen artistic talents. Great diplomats and would do well as an ambassador or even in HR [actually, please think about getting into Human Resources, there are way too many pieces of shit in this particular department]. This sign strives to create harmony, both visually and in interpersonal relationships.
Scorpio signature
If your signature sign is Scorpio, you possess the qualities of Pluto. You have a deep mind, are intense and probing with perhaps a bit of a mysterious aura. You make a perfect detective. Nothing stays hidden. Quite loyal and passionate with intense emotions. Intuition is superb, but you are very sensitive at the same time. Scorpio can become obsessed with the object of their love. May be prone to jealousy in love or be quite ruthless and vengeful if slighted. It’s important NOT to get on this person’s bad side because Scorpios rarely [if ever] forgive. Is probably very sexual or unmatched in bed. Might end up rich [Pluto=wealth]. Might become a Mafia-boss. Might become a dictator. Might run a funeral home. Depends, lol.
Sagittarius signature
Expansion. Jupiter rules this sign and as a result one with this signature loves new experiences that aid them in understanding the world better. Optimistic and with a great sense of humor, people love being around them. They have high energy levels and they are always on the go. If your signature sign is Sagittarius, you have an unshakable faith in the universe. Philosophical prowess and an open mind with a streak of jolliness The sign of philosophy, and always looking towards the bright side. Might be blunt, unattached, and a bit dramatic or louder than most, however, lucky breaks might come often or in the nick of time. Makes sense since Jupiter rules luck.
Capricorn signature
If Capricorn is your signature sign, there are significant earthy vibes to you, no matter your actual sign. Said native is reliable, efficient, and incredibly meticulous, and high-key ambitious. There’s a great need for success that borderlines on obsession. They are empowered by executive achievements and accomplishments. Order, structure, and discipline are paramount. Capricorns are famous in astrology for being known as hard workers who put a lot of effort into achieving their goals. They do not give up. They will climb the ladder, do or die. Typically will be quite successful in life. Often accused of being cold or cruel. Hell, they might be. Still, they are in need and are deserving of love and commitment. Reliable in a relationship once they decide to stop restricting themselves of affection and give in.
Aquarius signature
Unique and eccentric, you always notice it when you meet an Aquarian. If Aquarius is your signature sign, you prefer to live life on your own terms. Freedom is your most important value in life. You enjoy being around like-minded people, even though your relationships are usually not of an emotional nature. Aquarius is the sign of brilliance in astrology. I always say that Aquarians have the highest levels of analytical intelligence but sometimes get written off because they can be weirdos lol. Mad scientist vibes. Wonderful ideas, fascinated by everything new and modern. Tech geeks. Aquarius is also the sign of humanitarian ideals. If you have this sign strong in your chart, you have a strong sense of justice.
Pisces signature
If Pisces is your signature sign, you have a very strong intuition. Quite sensitive to the point that all that white noise can easily overwhelm them. Hard to make out reality sometimes. Hence, Pisces needs to spend a lot of time alone in suspension thinking about things. Compassionate and have a strong sympathy for those suffering. Great healing abilities and an even greater imagination and creative streak. Probably feels quite good around water and can have a psychic knack with animals. Can be very musical and often have strong artistic talents. Be sure to tether yourself to this world so as to not float off. Escapism is okay but don’t escape reality too much. You may have come from another realm but in this incarnation, you were placed here for a reason. You belong here on earth with us ;).

Trickster: an Ethari theory
I've had yea many Ethari headcanons, and I hope I live to have yea many more. Most of them are probably wrong, or incomplete at best. But boy are they fun.
I love to wonder what Ethari will really be like in canon when we get to know him for more than 3 minutes, but whoever he really is on his own, he will have an effect on Runaan , Rayla, and everyone who loves him, because they love him.
The first headcanon I can remember having for "Tinker" was that he could be like Leonardo da Vinci: a genius, creative, surrounded by beautiful ideas given shape by his hands, but also capable of creating deadly weapons, enchantments, and devices with equal beauty, and perhaps not really seeing where the line between them was. It was fun, but Ethari has ended up far softer than my headcanon, and I love and support him in his softness!
After a nice string of Ethari headcanons, this year I've started poking at the Trickster archetype and seeing if it applies to him. And I think it absolutely does!
Tricksters often seem like Chaos. But they're not. They're just Difference. "Chaos" is subjective. Like the "divergent" in "neurodivergent." Who says? Divergent from what, exactly? Perspective matters, and Tricksters have a very broad take on things which allows them to think outside any box people might try to invite them into.
My enjoyment of Loki has brought all kinds of ideas to my dash with the arrival of the Loki show. I've got a copy of the Edda, and I highlighted the hell out of it a couple of years ago as I searched for the roots of Loki's origin story. (It's truly fascinating reading and the symbolic language hidden inside their poetry is dazzlingly amazing and I'm super using it sometime just so you know)
Loki is a Trickster, and he's far from alone in myth and legend. Anansi, Coyote, and Sun Wukong are some you may have heard of. Aaravos is another, of course. Tricksters can be called upon to lend aid and wisdom when the rules don't have an answer for some extraordinary circumstance which the Trickster's people find themselves in. But that's not because they are truly outside the rule of order. They are actually a part of it. They are the catch-all for when the everyday ordinary rules fail people, and something "unthinkable"--in the literal sense--might just hold the answer.
This post crossed my dash today, and something finally clicked in my head, and all of this coalesced from what felt like separate places. But they're not separate, not anymore! Serotonin, baby. It's basically upped my headcanon to a full-blown theory.
What caught my eye was an answer to why Ethari's clothing is so determinedly asymmetrical, compared to Runaan's specifically, but Moonshadows in general. It's because of this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Long protective sleeves below patterns on shoulders. A high collar paired with a bright and noticeable swoop around the neck. Fine detailing and graceful taste. Asymmetrical tunic point on the left, below broad strappy leather. Knee high boots with stylish protective gaiters.
And let's not forget the curling horns! In some comics, Loki has a broken horn. So does Ethari.
Yes, there is a lot of similarity here, but I'm not focused so much on the visuals as the reason they were chosen. Feel free to consider other aspects of Ethari's personality and how they might be similar to certain parts of Loki's. I did! But I wouldn't be me if I didn't go deeper than that.
My favorite book in the universe (so far) is Lois McMaster Bujold's The Curse of Chalion, and one of the many reasons why is because of her pantheon. It holds five gods, represented by a hand: Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, and Bastard. The first four all have their roles and places. The Bastard--the thumb--inherits everything else. He is the god of all things that do not belong to any other gods, and that includes self-sacrificing vengeance and queerness. He is a Trickster, and his influence on Cazaril's life is far deeper than at first glance. Chaos has its place. It belongs, and so do the Tricksters who engender it. God, I love this book. Please read it if you haven't. Bujold's work is amazing.
If you've seen or read any version of MDZS/Untamed, you know that Wei WuXian is a trickster. Competent and badass in battle, but playful and teasing to the point where sometimes even he isn't sure what he truly wants, he can bring a massive amount of power and focus when he wants to. It's always a matter of "but is it important to me?"
I love WWX so much. The Trickster vibe is very apparent in his character, and in a way you just don't get in Western media. We see him on his own, and we see him with family and loved ones. And he's always feeling something so intensely! He's driven by his emotions, for good or ill. He vibes with chaos, and he will create it if it doesn't exist yet. But he will also create family from nothing, and that's something you don't see enough of! WWX is a Trickster with an emotional preference for joy.
Tumblr media
In TDP, Ethari doesn't have a lot of lore yet. It's being Moonshadowed because spoilers for future seasons, and I respect that. The longer the wait for S4, the more ideas I will just amuse myself with in the meantime--and yeah, this is one of them, so what? :))) But we do know a little about him.
He loves music. He loves to read. He leaves his mark on things in swirly form. He works very hard, even through headaches, because what he's doing is that important to him, even though he would much rather be making jewelry. He loves taking the time to polish rough stones into brilliant jewels, and he adores big pretty flowers and had them at his wedding.
Ethari has a temper, but he also loves puns. The weapons he crafts are exquisite: "light, elegant, strong, and clever." And he knew darn well that Runaan was trying to flirt with him, but why return a sentiment he may or may not feel yet when he can play with the overly earnest assassin just a little bit first?
Okay, just... A "simple craftsman" deciding that it's going to be fun to toy for a bit with a broody assassin's feelings? Would you risk that? Ethari got balls the size of the moon, and a brain to match. When he has to make weaponry, he does not half-ass it. Ethari's stabby creations nearly have a life of their own. His creations are literally called "trick weapons." This elf is a lot, okay. And it's possible that he doesn't even know how "a lot" he is. Yet.
Tumblr media
We're meeting Ethari after he's found something that is, in fact, genuinely important to him: Runaan, and Rayla, and Laindrin too. Ethari has found a relatively stable place to settle and find a role to adopt. I say adopt, though, because making weaponry for his loved ones is not what he grew up wanting to do. It's what he had to do to keep them safe, once he found a place to bestow his heart.
But in the show, Ethari has lost his family, one by one. First Lain and Tiadrin, ghosted. Then Runaan, supposedly fallen on his mission. Then Rayla, ghosted for abandoning Runaan. He and Rayla have reconnected now, but the rest of his family is still out of his reach. If Rayla has indeed told him, by S4, what she learned at the Moonhenge in TTM, then Ethari may parallel Rayla's journey to seek answers. But even if he doesn't know yet, and gets pulled into some other story arc first, we will be seeing Ethari without his family.
Remember the ATLA episode "Zuko Alone"? Consider: "Ethari Alone."
Ethari has chosen, for love, to fit himself into a box that wasn't of his own making. And now that box has broken. His family doesn't need him to be their craftsman anymore. Perhaps others will need him to be other things to them. Or perhaps he will know that his family does need him, but to be far more than just a maker of pretty swords. A rescuer, perhaps. A healer, a guide? An avenger?
A trickster. Capable of taking many shapes, because he understands them all. Ethari works with form and function. If he needs to transform himself, he will.
That's what Tricksters do. It's delightfully queer and delightfully neurodivergent. Ancient peoples accepted and revered the different among them and actively sought their help with things they themselves struggled with.
Tricksters are Difference. Sometimes that manifests as chaos, sometimes as genius. But if you do not love and appreciate your chaos, it will absolutely turn on you. Wei Wuxian did. Loki certainly has, many times. Perhaps Aaravos is doing so as well.
I cannot wait to see what Ethari does with his difference. I have something very specific that I hope he goes and breaks.
All this from a picture of Tom Hiddleston in his Avengers 1 Loki costume? Yeah. Because Ethari was designed to wear asymmetrical clothing, in a Moonshadow culture that prides itself on balance. Sure, there are some other Moonshadows who wear this or that asymmetrical item, and I do love to see it. But Ethari has the most asymmetrical lines of them all. The meta glee I feel knowing that Moonshadow elves are designed to hold many layers of meaning in their appearances--that the writers, creators, and character designers just flexed with them--is truly a delight.
Ethari is asymmetrical. The full and practical application of that is a glass casket, and I hope it becomes a gift that keeps on giving, because boy do I want to keep receiving it. But right now, I'm genuinely seeing evidence of the Trickster archetype in him. And I really hope it gets to come out and play.
