i have never really shared my very specific headcanons about baxington publicly except for a single instance in a discord server where the topic came up while i was talking with a friend... it's a little embarrassing to talk about this stuff and i feel like making a whole thread on twitter about this would be a little weird?? i feel like this is a good place to share my silly thoughts though

baxington is actually one of the many adhd x autism ship hcs i've been collecting over the years... like i truly believe in adhd forthington and autistic semi verbal baxington where forthington literally never stops fucking talking ever at any point and baxter is very quiet but despite the difference in how vocally communicative they are they're both equally cocky and competitive, not in an unhealthy way but moreso like "i love you but i'm NOT gonna go easy on you and i WILL kiss your sore loser face once i win"

i like to think rallying is like their love language. i've said it before but i don't think there's anything more romantic than piloting planes while playing airborne badminton with your husband. they definitely poke fun at eachother constantly, forthington especially i see him as the teasing type, i do think baxter is a little more level-headed and the little story in fever pretty much confirms that... but something in my gut just tells me that baxter is also the one that would more quickly melt into the other's arms, maybe it's because he's a dog and in my head it just makes sense that he'd need a lot more attention, fortunately forthington always has the energy for him, he's there to give baxy all the attention he needs And more :3 the image of forthington accidentally calling baxter a "good boy" in public and embarrassing both of them... it's just kinda the cutest fucking tjing ever forever (partially influenced by fanart)

yeah i'd say maybe ford and baxy are the nicknames they'd give eachother, i also really like the idea that baxter mostly communicates through body language and forthington is just so used to it that he can always tell exactly what he's feeling just from looking at him. and that they hold hands so often now because even before they started dating they used to do a handshake after every game and just kinda got used to it. (those handshakes would usually go on for a little too long...)

⠀   ⠀⠀  Thinking about Albedo being self convinced he cannot feel anything - and frankly I don’t think that he can - up until he meets Traveler. Klee. As well as the rest of the gang. I think its also why he dislikes talking to others, because the emotional burden that becomes his to have to learn to hold. Is something he is disinterested in, but also a bit overwhelmed for. 

⠀   ⠀⠀  Relationships are often not so straightforward, and there isn’t such a single simple science to it. The science that is there, often is complicated in itself and way off the spectrum of interests or values. To what Albedo studies currently. He is definitely Neurodivergant, and would even color him as someone whom has either ADHD or Autism. Maybe even both, as a understanding of how his personality works. ⠀   ⠀⠀  He hyper focuses on work, and things that are interesting to him. While showing he is CAPABLE of being attentative and affectionate to people he decides to place in a corner of: Important in his mind.I dont believe it helps that the snapshots of information we got about him, Rhinedottir, Durin, and Albedo 2.0. Lead us to believe that Albedo did not have the best ‘normal’ or ‘human’ life one can imagine. From what we can see, he was picked and challenged the same way Hallow Knights story work. Where Albedo here, was the winner. To live up to these winnings he needed to continue to emulate perfection, while Rhinedottir studied him and used him for her own interests. ⠀   ⠀⠀  Further, the small mention’s he makes and how he has introspection on others. Or family in general, it seems that Albedo conceptually wants to have attachment to family ideas. Or others, but seems to lack the understand. Or care to - and rather DOES but has a strange out look of it. Kind of like how Twilight/Loid acts in SPY x FAMILY. I think Loid is a perfect comparison when it comes to understanding Albedo and his relationship with Klee. As he possibly doesn’t understand her, but cares for her deeply in the way that he himself can. Yet is actually the opposite, and is someone who is not really capable of evil actions. Understanding the weight and destruction of being a malleable force - more like its too much energy to be evil. He mocks the idea of others thinking him being in some way, finding it entertaining itself. Not because he wants to be, but merely because the idea that he is so misunderstood at times. People would think him evil. That is to say, he seems to understand the scale of morality heavily, BUT isnt afraid to act out unlike human nature. Or what would be percieved as ‘human.’ See the end of the second event involving him & the mountains. With Albedo #2. Meaning if he  felt the need to kill someone was necessary - he would do so without so much as grimacing. ⠀   ⠀⠀  He also REALLY loves people, and enjoys others from the outside looking in. What bothers him is just being INVOLVED with these relationships. Making him uncomfortable, he enjoys living vicariously through others and their successes in relationships. Yet does not really wish to be bound by them or burdened by them. However, again... He is curious about them and interested. ⠀   ⠀⠀  Almost as if currently Albedo is developing a human nature, whilst the Traveler talks more to him.

Alex Recommends: April Books

I must apologise once again for allowing this many days to go by since the end of the month. I really need to get better at getting these monthly recommendations up in a timely fashion. However, I have been busy with work assignments and trying to map out my near future, so you’ll have to be patient!

April was a month for family time. I spent over half the month at home with my parents and family. Mark was with me for some of it, which was lovely. I’ve realised that I love spending time with him in different settings and around different groups of people. Two and a half years after our first date and despite having spent most of that time living together, I’m still learning new things about him and it’s so exciting. He got accepted on to a teacher training course this month and I’m unbelievably proud of him for doing that. He’ll start this September and be a qualified teacher by September 2023, which is amazing because I know he’ll be great at it!

I’ve also loved catching up with my friends this month. We had a birthday in the group and it was so nice to hang out at a nerdy bar, eat loaded fries and drink cocktails while watching other people play Mario Kart. I miss them so much but I’m lucky that everytime we get together, it’s like no time has passed at all. Cherish the friendships you have like this because I think they’re actually quite rare.

I’ve read a lot of fantastic books this month too. My focus was largely on the Women’s Prize longlist, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I haven’t read all of them yet but I am certainly planning to at some point. However, here are five books which aren’t from that list that should definitely be on your TBR. Enjoy!

FICTION: Yinka, Where Is Your Huzband? by Lizzie Damilola Blackburn.

At 31, Yinka is single with an Oxford degree and a well-paid job at an investment bank. Her friends think she needs to get over her ex and her Nigerian mother and aunties are concerned because Yinka is yet to get herself a huzband. As her younger sister announces her pregnancy and her cousin announces her engagement, Yinka begins Operation Find A Date for the wedding. But Yinka is about to realise that she really needs to find herself before a huzband. This uplifting rom-com has a very loveable heroine in Yinka. I was willing her to find her right path to happiness. I learned a lot about Nigerian family culture and I enjoyed navigating the slang. It added a rich authenticity to the characters, which was lovely. Ultimately, it’s about the pressures on women to get married and raise a family but with a focus on being mentally prepared for that before diving into it.

NON-FICTION: Obsessive Intrusive Magical Thinking by Marianne Eloise.

Marianne Eloise was born neurodivergent and obsessive. Her obsessions change regularly and last varying lengths of time while her thoughts are often a mixture of intense fears and certain words or ideas that won’t go away. Bringing together the struggles of OCD, ADHD and hypersensitivity, this book explores the intersection of these things and what that might mean for the individual. It’s a highly insightful look into a neurodivergent, sensitive mind. It looks at the triggers and comforts for overstimulation and how relationships are navigated with a mind like this. I found it very thought-provoking and relatable, so it will definitely be a book that I recommend to anyone on the autism spectrum and/or OCD warriors.

MIDDLE-GRADE: The Great Fox Illusion by Justyn Edwards.

Flick is about to star on a new TV show, where chilldren compete to win the legacy and secrets of The Great Fox, a legendary magician. But Flick isn’t interested in The Great Fox’s magic -she wants to avenge her family who were destroyed by the magician years ago and she knows the answer lies somewhere in his house. This whimsical magic story is action-packed and so intriguing with lots of real life illusions mentioned. I had so much fun trying to figure out they were pulled off. Flick is disabled and I love seeing this kind of refreshing representation in children’s books. With a slight Willy Wonka vibe to it, The Great Fox Illusion is an exciting, clever adventure that young (and not so young) readers will love!

YA: Idol Gossip by Alexandra Leigh Young.

Since moving to Seoul from San Francisco, Alice hasn’t sung much unless you count the karaoke sessions, where she is cheered on by K-Pop fangirl and little sister Olivia. But when Alice is invited to Star Academy, where K-Pop idols are made, she is suddenly a member of an upcoming girlband and her life is now all about making it. Can she pull it off? And who is the mysterious gossip blogger who seems to know about everything that goes on within Star Academy? Idol Gossip is a gripping story of friendship, sisterhood and working hard for your dreams. I learned so much about Korean culture but also the universe of K-Pop. Of course, I knew what K-Pop was but I didn’t really know much about at all and now I get how much of a big deal it really is to a rapidly-growing fandom. The uplifting ending proves that love and kindness conquers all and I finished it with a huge smile on my face and warmth in my heart. 

THRILLER: Insomnia by Sarah Pinborough.

Emma Averell enjoys a wonderful life as a high-powered lawyer with a loyal doting husband and two lovely children. But as she approaches her 40th birthday, insomnia sets in and she has blocks in her memory. She would put it down to aging but this all seems scarily familiar. Emma and her sister Phoebe grew up in foster care due to their mother’s madness setting in just before her own 40th. Could history be repeating itself? This twisty, clever thriller is full of high drama and high emotion. I didn’t know what was real and what was all dark imagination and madness. I can’t afford to get something professionally diagnosed, and it causes me incredibly imposter syndrome because I get paranoid that I’m somehow damaging the reputation of people who are diagnosed. It’s a really stigmatized disorder. Accepting I have it is relieving and let’s me work on symptom management until I can afford to get it looked into. But until then, I feel like I’m faking and hurting people. If you think any of this needs a little truth, I’d really love some. ;w;

It is so difficult to struggle with something and be unable to afford to properly address it with a doctor; I am so sorry that your are going through this right now.

First, often, self diagnosis is accurate, at least to a degree, as it's not something anyone does on a whim. Most people do tons of research and serious soul searching before they even think the words "I think I might be/have x" to themselves. Millions of people are forced to self diagnose with things like ADHD and autism, because they can't afford to see a doctor, or because they have been dismissed by doctors because these things are "difficult to diagnose" in adults, women, people with other mental health diagnoses, etc. And these people diagnosed themselves so that they can do what you're doing: help and accept themselves.

Second, and maybe most importantly, if this diagnosis-- self given as it may be -- is helping you cope with the symptoms and how it is impacting your life, then that is a huge positive! Anything that helps you manage your day to day, feel better about your self/your life, and control negative symptoms is a win, and not something you should begrudge yourself out of a worry about how others might feel about your diagnosis.

Imposter syndrome sucks, and I know you've got a little voice telling you that you might be wrong about this diagnosis, so you might actually be an imposter, but here's the thing: the only thing you are gaining from this label is a positive impact on your life. You aren't getting donations, or sympathy, or accommodations from others because of it. You aren't tricking anybody, or lying. You are using the diagnosis to make your life better.

And I am so glad that you're able to do that. I'm so proud that you're able to give yourself that.

Figured I'd give you a Oumeno (Kokichi x Himiko)-related ask, because why not? Hit me with your best shot! And by best shot, I mean hit me with any LGBT+ headcanons you have for them, plus any personal headcanons you have for the ship

*stretches to warm up for this ask* WELL –

I tend to headcanon Kokichi as panromantic and demisexual, as well as some form of nonbinary (I usually flip flop between genderfluid and solely nonbinary). Himiko I tend to headcanon as either bi and/or omni (because I never have consistent headcanons lol), and I like to think of them both as aroflux because self-projection, babey. Also Himiko's trans and asexual.

I like to think Kokichi has heterochromia and a green eye, he just uses contacts to hide it.

Himiko loves pancakes, and she's actually really good at making breakfast food! God help her if she needs to make lunch or dinner, though.

Kokichi has a really weakened sense of taste, and likes weird food combinations with interesting textures to make up for it.

They both love amusement parks and fairs, and it's a common date for them in the summer.

Kokichi has tons of nicknames for Himiko, such as Magey, Beloved, Bunny, Himihimi, etc. Himiko just calls him by his name or the very occasional common petname. That said, she once called him Soda Lolli-Pop and he's been trying to get her to call him that regularly ever since.

That fact actually makes them immune to the whole "Honey?" "Yes dear?" "Don't ever lie to me again" joke, which frustrated Miu when she tried to pull a fast one on them, but as she was leaving Kokichi said to Himiko, "Well, she's an idiot, don't you agree, love?" and Miu just walked straight into a wall.

Going back to Himiko being trans, she's a bit sensitive about her small chest because of this, but Kokichi likes to make jokes about venmo-ing her some breasts that always make her at least smile, if not laugh.

"Don't worry, Himiko, I'll have my organization members send you some tits in the mail, free of shipping fees."

Kokichi's actually slightly strong, he just doesn't like to lift things so he pretends he's weak so no asks him to.

Himiko makes really good sugar cookies. She can't move her batches in or out of the oven cause she got burned while doing so once and is scared to do so again, but when someone helps her with that they get rewarded with free cookies.

Kokichi likes to play meme themes on his kazoo and Himiko's learned to tune it out

Kokichi: *plays the Mii theme on his kazoo for an hour straight, irritating everyone else in the room to the point they're considering just slapping the instrument out of his hands*

Himiko: *turns a page in her novel* I wonder if the park would be a fun date for the weekend. What do you think, Kokichi?

They totally go to the soap/candle shops at the mall and sniff all the products before buying something. It's their weekly thing, along with just wandering around the mall, eating ice cream and pizza, and going to the bookstore.

Speaking of books, Kokichi loves romance and fantasy novels, and Himiko loves horror and mystery novels. Neither of them will admit to it. They cover for each other and claim their book collections belong to each other.

Kokichi gives Himiko piggyback rides when he's feeling generous.

They have the weirdest inside jokes that nobody else understands.

"I am going to conquer the Mediterranean with a pineapple ship!" "Shut up, you're a tootsie roll." "ROUND FRIEND BREAD!" etc

Kokichi loves dresses. Himiko has sensory issues with them unless they have specific styles and fabric, but she does like the swooshy-swooshy of them, so she wears skirts.

They both have ADHD and autism.

Kokichi's family is all ten DICE and Himiko has several siblings, so whenever their two families interact it's like an entire family reunion all on its own: chaotic and with tons of people, yet somehow loving.

Their favorite way of cuddling is just lying together. That's it. For example: Himiko's lying on the floor, playing on her phone, when Kokichi comes along and lays across her back, playing on his own phone. Optimal for sharing memes and whatever else they want to show each other yet still doing their own thing. It's a win-win. Especially since Kokichi's actually sensitive when it comes to touch but when he's in the mood for it he shows just how little physical affection he normally gets (not that Himiko's neglecting him or anything – he's just unused to it and usually can't stand it cause of sensory issues).

When they get older and buy their own place they get a trampoline and have serious discussions while bouncing in it, just because.

They also have like five cats, two guinea pigs, and a turtle.

But again, words aren’t his forte, so he’s more the type to wrap you in a blanket with snacks & some random geek movie to cuddle to when things get too much

Honestly, anything you need, he’ll give to you

In addition to open gaming, tournaments and demos in the Promenade area just outside of the Dealer's Room, you can enjoy relaxing and gaming with others in the Philcon Gaming Suite, 923. Assorted board and card game banks are available. Play our games or bring your own favorites and find someone to play along. Hang out, have a snack, play and chat with other gamers. Workshop: All-Ages Game Design A hands-on, family-friendly workshop. Learn how to put together a game of your own design with your family or friends! A group of people putting together a (simple) game in an hour or two.  

Saturday All Ages Gaming Time (2 Hour - PLAY SESSION) The Gaming Suite is always open to all ages. We do like to offer a time when parents might like to bring the kids in for game time. Are there games you love to play with your kids? Table top gaming is a family experience. Raising a young geek means sharing with them, but as most parents know, finding games that are fun to play together can be challenging. When looking for a family-friendly game, try shorter games that don’t require too much reading, and games that reinforce math and spacial skills. There are also games that can be played by all ages with some modifications to the rules. Games will be available for you to try out with your family: Blokus, Get Bit!, Tsuro, Quick Cups, Roll for it, Panda Head, Face Chase, Flipping Flags, Set Junior, Apples to Apples, Spot it.
