Just a little D&D curse today. This one is fun to us because it's only temporary suffering for the player. But it also gives them and the DM something really cool to collaborate on how it might effect battle. Would grappling harm enemies? What if you held your cursed hand against a locked door you wanted through? :) Have fun!

Curse of Flames

Blessing, temporary curse, uncommon

“One of your arms is wreathed in flame, threatening to scorch and destroy anything you touch. Miraculously, you remain completely unharmed.”

Any item you hold in the hand wreathed in flame is destroyed, including weapons that require two hands. This effect lasts until the next dawn.

Marrying Carter in Harvest Moon DS Cute! (North American version)

oh… sorry no not the archaeologist, i mean Pastor Carter from Mineral Town!

(or is it Pastor Curdy….?)

teeechnically his descendant, and it causes a game over… but this is the only time we’ve been able to marry him right?

so in the girl version of HMDS, there’s two “secret” Mineral Town bachelors that you can marry by talking to them enough times on the phone. one is Mason, the guy who runs May’s Tailoring… but the second, Pastor Carter, is a bit more obscure…

i couldn’t find them uploaded anywhere so here are his 2nd* thru 10th conversations+his proposal+proposal rejection in english! if you want to see it on youtube instead here you go

*i failed to record the first conversation when it happened, and there’s no way in hell i’m resetting my whole game again (…yet), so…just know the first one was like “oh you want to talk? what should we talk about…….. …… ….. …. i can’t think of anything. well see ya………” extremely riveting stuff

he’s so obscure that i didn’t even realize that he was a bachelor until i found out about the mechanic from this japanese wiki!! (here’s an archive link to the page on him in case the page doesn’t work) all i did was test whether it worked in english since i couldn’t find any english info at all mentioning it. i’m sure others have found him… right……..

in case the links above don’t work, a small guide to holy matrimony below the cut since i can’t find one in english

it works essentially the same as the Mason marriage (so it’s just a game over, sadly…), and the steps are pretty tedious and counterintuitive, so you’re unlikely to just stumble across it… but you too can get a priest to break his vow of celibacy for you or whatever!

you will need:

at least 2,050,000 G

20 cursed tools/accessories

if you really don’t want to dig up 20 cursed things you can substitute 100x “remove a cursed tool/accessory” for blessing a cursed tool…

but, including all the cursed tools and accessories, there’s only 16… which means you will need to go dig up 4 duplicate cursed accessories using this method! yay!!! extremely pointless since you can’t sell blessed accessories until after marriage in DS for girl (at which point you can’t trigger pastor carter’s proposal)

you unlock a conversation with cardi when you spend at least 205,000 G. which means the quickest thing to do is to order removal of a cursed item five times, then bless 2 cursed items.

**be careful when blessing accessories to only equip one at a time!!! if you equip a stack of duplicate accessories, blessing that stack destroys the duplicates!!!! :( so just take 1 out of the stack and equip it!!!**

you also can’t unlock more conversations until you’ve seen the one you unlocked, so like even if you spend a million G you’ll just unlock one conversation, and you’ll need to finish that conversation and then spend 205,000 G to unlock the next one…yeah….

on the tenth conversation he abruptly reveals that he’s fallen in love with you and asks you to marry him! it ends your game, but….! on the bright side, it ends your game!!! you’re finally free from Hell Simulator!!!!

do you think about how the Shroud parents are only ever mentioned either regarding abandoning their eldest to run STYX immediately after capturing his classmates and very briefly regarding making the Lethe being broken being their problem? like they aren't even mentioned once during the flashback to Idia's childhood when you'd think they'd have something to say about one of their kids dying and the other one coping bad? I think about taht alot

I think I've said this before, but I like how Idia's relationship with his parents is, like, purely business. he mostly talks about them like a pair of annoying coworkers who keep fobbing work off on him. they're not even mentioned during the flashback! the first people he showed Ortho to were a couple of random STYX employees! absolutely wild.

some of it might just be the compressed timeline, for all I know episode 7 will open with them being the most loving and supportive parents in the world. but right now I feel like their reaction to Idia and Ortho trying to destroy the world would just be to write Idia up for improper use of company equipment.

Id chapter is insane. im so stressed even after more than 2 months of its release. because the Class who won for the entirety of Ordeal Call (dare i say it: the entirety of FGO?) so far are the Avengers. (so far... at least for me..lets hope ruler and foreiner OCs are good...also idk read my og tags for this)

its probably just me overthinking... i dont know if sakurai thought this far but its just so good. because... like. the current arc's focus is on the Classes and the recent main story focused on Avengers.

Avengers. heroic spirits. Extra Class. Those who speak of hate yet are born from love and those who speak love yet are born from hate. The basis of each and all of the heroic spirits in the Throne are simply because they are all records. They are spirits and shadows of those who have lived long ago and those are currently living somewhere or those who have still yet to live and are from the future. Either way, anyone summoned from the Throne is what makes them a Servant. A copy of the real thing. Beings made of ether, ghosts who are a set of records and memories given form.

Avengers are the very embodiment of holding onto the past. Oblivion Correction, being able to remember even beyond time loops or universes could be considered more of a curse than a blessing for these flames whose lives burn endlessly from hate and anger and sorrow from towards those who have wronged them. Flames who would burn endlessly and would stop at nothing even should their retribution be at the cost proper human history's ashes.

Records. Human and beast shaped memories given form. They are beings of stagnacy and cannot grow well past beyond their current state. As only those who are currently living have the privilege of being the only ones to grow. Do you understand me? Do you understand what I'm getting at?

Avengers are more records and fragments of themselves - Alters, Innocent Monsters, collective will of hatred from many people condensed into one - beyond any Class of the Throne. As such they cannot grow. They will never grow for they will remain as flames and inhuman creatures that will ultimately consume and burn all that is within their sights.

And yet, the very Avenger considered to be the greatest, to be the representative and leader of the group was able to transcend the impossible.

Only the living have that right to escape their impending deaths, their doom, their fate. Servants, nothing more than familiars, don't have that right anymore. Not anymore as they don't truly exist in the present.

And yet. And yet.

The Count of Monte Cristo claws an eye out, splits his skull open, rips an entire arm out, bleeds himself dry to change himself. Change himself down to his very core and almost every aspect of him, all for the sake of one person alone.

He was able to take a step forward. An extreme impossibility in and of itself to these burning spirits who are broken records incarnate.

Just one step. Look away from the past without discarding it, still carrying it close, still remaining who he is and yet his sights are on the night sky above, to that star twinkling so gently, so brightly ahead of him that there is no helping that feeling of breathlessness he feels.

Far different from choking on smoke, far different from drowning beneath the icy waves of a prison tower by the sea.

To that person who is his fate, who is his star, his light, and fire in this second life, they extend a hand out to him with a dazzling smile.

Oh.

The Count of Monte Cristo, far beyond salvation and absolution, must think, This in itself is poison. This in itself is ambrosia given form.

With a hand, a resolute gaze telling him he isn't alone, Edmond Dantes, King of the Cavern, the Count of Monte Cristo was able to move forward, change himself and turn into a flame that would pave the way for that star which seeks its own wishes to be fulfilled. To that partner, co-conspirator, accomplice who always walked forward and never wavered in wanting to fight by his side, the Avengers won here and now.

Because to be loved is to be changed.

And being able to change, find yourself capable of it, there is growth. And in growth, for these heroic spirits, ghosts, those who have long passed...

What is that, if not, victory to all of the Avengers themselves?

I was going through my old diary and found some entries I write after I finished acosf and honestly. 21 years old me was onto something.

"the only way Sarah can redeem Rhys (MY BELOVED ASSHOLE. MY TALL DARK HANDSOME VILLAIN FORCED BY THE NARRATIVE TO BE SEEN AS A GOOD GUY) is if by the end of acotar series, on the last book, she just shown Rhys broke down on the floor completely sick beyond belief when he realized that he's turning into his father. And have been for awhile. And later we found out that it's just the curse of The High Lord of Night. That any night HL that keep the position beyond a certain century would slowly got cursed to fear power. The more powerful they are, the stronger the fear is. That's why they crave to control powers. To never live in peace ever again because they saw everything as a threat to their court, getting more and more extreme in their attempt to control other's power by the years. Going insane slowly but surely. And the stronger the HL is, the worse the curse is. Because power always comes with a price. And Rhys is getting his due, he's becoming his father."

LOOK AT THAT. I FIX HIM!!!!! Seriously tho, I was so disillusioned by Rhys' character after ACOSF. That was one of the worst heartbreak/betrayals I've ever felt from a book.

Her chest was still heaving as she sat there crouched before the offending corpse, her eyes narrowed in disgust and yet they glimmered with a sort of pride in her work. Melinoe so often denied her dark urges, yet when an enemy was so keen to challenge her... sometimes she let herself slip into the whispers. Sometimes she let herself actually enjoy the kill.

She would never tell the other companions this, of course. She doubted many of them would understand the complexity of feeling joy as a life drained right before you. Of the little tingle, so pleasant as it shivered over her spine, erupted when her claws or her blade sunk into flesh. She plucked one of her cherished throwing knives from the corpse before her, raising it upwards into the sunlight to examine it, when she realized that Cassian had not ended up split from her like the rest of their companions.

Truthfully, she hadn't the faintest idea where they ended up when that wall of flames shot from the ground. Melinoe's first instinct had been to chase after the sorcerer and his little group of gnoll as soon as he tucked tail and ran, leaving his little band of warrior and rogues behind for Lae'zel and Karlach to handle. What a cowardly sorcerer to abandon his own allies to try and save his own hide, but now he lay dead in a pool of his own blood with the unmistakable tears of her claws carved over his face. Her fingers twitched, hand sticky and wet from the ichor that still lingered.

The blade sparkled in the sunlight, making Melinoe squint and lower her gaze so that it fell upon Cassian. And, my, didn't he look delicious all covered in blood. ❝ If I'd realized you'd have been here with me earlier, I'd have been a little more graceful in my pursuits of or enemy. Such unladylike behavior of me, ❞ her voice was lilted into a teasing tone, coquettish as she rose from her perch to set her bloody hands upon her hips, ❝ I might even have shared better. Though it seems you had your fill of little beasties to attend to. I suppose I should thank you for keeping them off me while I was distracted. I'd hate for you to think I can't play nice. ❞
