And for the last day I asked my dear friend Libia to do this illustration of Nesta and Bryce (and I’m happy that she got on board with the idea), because, I don’t know about you, but I thought this must have happened at least once in House of Flame and Shadow 😌

Nesta lifted her head. “So?”

“So I want you to take the Starsword.” Bryce held the blade between them. “Gwydion—whatever you call it here. The age of the Starborn is over on Midgard. It ends with me.”

“I don’t understand.”

But Bryce began backing toward the portal, taking Hunt’s hand, and smiled again at the female, at her mate, at their world, as the Northern Rift began to close. “I think that eight-pointed star was tattooed on you for a reason. Take that sword and go figure out why.”

In one of her past interviews, Sarah J. Maas commented Nesta's journey was just beginning after Silver Flames, and after reading House of Flame & Shadow I believe part of her journey will be linked to the Dusk Court, as not only did Nesta bargaining mark has an eight-pointed star form (which is associated with the Starborns and thus the Dusk Court), as now she is the Gwydion owner. And as much as Nesta power is usually linked to death, its also showed capable of bringing life (as we have seen with the House of the Wind and Feyre & Nyx). I also found it particularly curious that Pegasus started appearing in Avallen once the land was healed, since Pegasus seem to have an association with the Valkyries.

You know what I find interesting?

In ACOSF, Elain doesn't credit Azriel for his part in helping save her from Hybern's camp even though he literally carried her out of there. She gives the credit to Feyre.

In the Bryce, Nesta, and Azriel Bonus Chapter for HOFAS, Azriel doesn't credit Elain for her part in helping with taking down Hybern. He gives the credit to Nesta alone for taking down Hybern.

If they were truly endgame, don't you think it would have been a good idea for these two to give credit to each other when the topic of these events got brought up to reinforce a connection? Instead, they both credited other people....

But you know who does give credit to Elain for her role in helping take down Hybern? Her mate, Lucien. (And don't bring Rhysand into this because he never gave her credit out loud where others could hear)

Lucien who she is still connected to even throughout ACOSF and HOFAS because Azriel makes it clear there is no one when Bryce asks him personal questions on if he had a partner/mate and we know from his own bonus chapter he doesn't consider Elain anything more than a sexual fantasy for him (even though I do happen to think he does have a mate, Gwyn, but the bond just hasn't snapped for him to say he does yet).

Elucien and Gwynriel will be endgame if you look at Sarah writing from these two books.

My favorite thing with eluciens lately is “ let’s prove elucien is endgame from the author herself”…

Yet every piece of “evidence” they use is not from the actual books. It’s interviews from years ago, deleted Pinterest boards and then their interpretation of the today show interview.

When you have to try and prove your ship is “endgame “with everything but the actual books that should tell you something.

Elriels are listening to the author herself.. what she writes in canon text.🤷‍♀️

I don’t think the “Feyre only become High Lady and got her title from Rhysand” people realize that the Dusk Court, yeah the court y’all have been theorizing Nesta is going to rule, already belongs to Rhysand. So if your crack theories are true and Nesta does become High Lady of that court that would mean Rhys gave it to her. He would have handed her that land to rule over because it already belongs to him.

Nesta would literally only get her High Lady title because of him. Either she doesn’t become High Lady (which is likely the case because let’s be real for a second Sjm is not making Cassian a High Lord and she’s not splitting Nessian up either), or she does become High Lady of Dusk and her fans have to cope with the fact that there’s another thing she only has because Rhys was kind enough to grant it her.

Either way I’m going to laugh.

Nesta has been referenced more than once as a queen in the books, and perhaps this is a portent for what the future holds for her. Maybe not exactly as queen, but as ruler of the Dusk Court.

In this art, me and Luana wanted to represent Nesta as it's High Lady, holding her two swords: Cauldron made Ataraxia and Starsword/Gwydion. And we couldn't have loved more how @gessueter brought this idea to life.

i’m tired of the narrative that rhysand is the perfect mate when he literally is no better than tamlin.

i’m tired of people thinking it’s okay that Cassian never, NEVER, truly sticks up for Nesta at any point in the story.

i’m tired of Azriel getting a pass for feeling entitled to Elain but Lucien is a walking devil all for accidentally blurting out she’s his mate during a bad time and trying to respect Elain’s space while still showing her kindness.

i’m tired of Rhysand and the IC getting a pass for their shady behavior, especially when it comes to the pregnancy plot line. they should’ve told her when they knew, no they weren’t keeping it from her “for her health!!!” they were stripping feyre of her autonomy, the same with nesta.

i’m tired of Elain being seen as a child.

i’m tired of everyone vilifying Nesta.

i’m tired of Rhysand and the IC being extended empathy for their past and even current actions but that same forgiveness isn’t given to anyone else. people seem to forget rhysand is supposed to be morally gray, he’s done bad things for the sake of doing bad, he is not the perfect goody-goody in a dark color palette.

i’m tired of people forgetting Feyre (and any other pov characters) is an unreliable narrator.

i’m tired of people acting like Nesta and Feyre aren’t the different sides of the same coin.

i’m tired of people pretending the IC wouldnt have reacted differently had it been feyre to give “x” away in CC3.

im tired of this fandom lacking media literacy!!

Ember telling Nesta that she will find her way just breaks my fucking heart because the first half of the book is all Nesta in her element, doing as she pleases with her bestie Azriel, still doing what’s in the best interest of her family and just truly being her absolute best self and then the SECOND she’s back in the IC dynamic Ember is just watching her get berated for making a decision that we all know Feyre would also make. Like clearly Nesta expressed to Ember her turmoil over all of this and it makes me want to hug her and also slap Cassian.

It’s so tragic to see the dichotomy in one book of Nesta at her absolute best killing a fucking Asteri and then she goes HOME and … that …

I just … I have to dream that there’s something else for Nesta. A real home. Real acceptance.
