“I wonder how Deuce has been…” You mutter, looking up at the sky.
“Aww, your ex-delinquent boyfie~?” A friend of yours tease. You give them a shoulder nudge, pouting.
“Are the chances of that happening even possible? I mean, he’s in NRC, and I’m here… besides…”
“‘Be-sides, he’s kind of a dingus and a dumbass and has NEVER picked up on my hints!!!’’, I know, I know. You say that every time you talk about your man.” Your friend snorts, giving you a sympathetic rub on the back.
“He’s NOT my man!”
“Mhmm- oh hey---!” Your friend looks over your shoulder, spying on your phone. “Deuce is calling~”
“Hah, like hell he is-” You pause, and indeed, the caller identity is Deuce. “H-H-HE’S CALLING?! W-WHAT DO I DO- I HAVEN’T SPOKEN-”
Your friend presses the ‘accept’ button, and you silently thank your friend, placing the phone on your ear. “H-hello?” You ask nervously.
“[Name]!” His voice, demurely bright as ever makes your ears flush. “It’s been a while. Sorry I haven’t called. I was busy with school.”
“I-It’s fine! Sorry, I haven’t called too, I was, um, also busy with school.” You lie, twirling your hair. In truth, you were just too nervous to call him and when you do manage the courage, something always interrupted you from doing so.
“S-so, you’re doing… good? After the whole… VDC thing?” Your voice trails off, cheeks heating up as you remember gleefully squealing over the video of NRC’s VDC performance. Of course, the main attention was on Vil Schoenheit, the actor, but you do with what you can, glancing little peeks of Deuce. He looks so cool, ahhh!!!! And hot- NONONO NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO THINK ABOUT THAT-!
“...you, [Name]?”
“W-what?” You question, internally cursing yourself. Of COURSE YOU would daydream about your crush in FRONT of your crush (well, not really, but you know what I mean).
“I said, uh, how about you-”
“DEUCE!” You hear a loud, sort of annoyed voice on his end, bursting through the door.
“What?!” His voice turns hostile over the phone, making you swoon a little. Ahh, he sounds just like how he did during middle school. You still remember hesitantly making your way to the blond, handing him a handkerchief, and quietly making conversation. Ah, the eventual visits to his fights and the small, cute moments he had--! The caring ones! One where he offered you a ride on the motorbike… the warmth of his back, the way he confidently rode the motorbike through the empty city, the soft beams of the moon shining on you… honestly, that moment felt just like a movie, one you repeated over and over.
Then came his quiet and confident resolvement to change. How he gave you a promise for himself, that he’d change for his mother. How hard he studied, how determined he was. How happy he looked when the carriage came to pick him up. And you were there, every step of the way, encouraging him, cheering him on.
You smile, glancing down at your backpack. Before leaving, he gave you a small cauldron chain as a keepsake, giving you a firm handshake (still a little awkward about hugs, huh?) and stepping into the carriage.
“...[Name]?” Deuce’s voice shocks you back into reality, nostalgia slipping through your mind.
“Yeah, come again?”
“I said, could you, uh…” He hesitates, and you can hear him sigh.
“Could you come to NRC?”
An indistinguishable sound rips out of your throat. “H-huh?!” Like a date?!
“There’s an event where you can bring someone from your hometown to NRC, so I thought of you.”
Guh! Of course! Absolutely!
“U-unless you’re busy, which I’m fine with-”
“I’d love to come! Yeah, of course!” You interrupt him, catching yourself from squealing
“Great!” You pick up the excitement from his voice and it makes your heart soar. “I’ll send you the details through text.”
“I-okay! See you then, Deuce! I, uh..” You feel your cheeks redden. “I can’t wait to see you. It’s been a while.”
“...I missed you.” You whisper softly. “A lot.”
“Sorry, what? I can’t hear you.” A smile crosses your face at his confusion. You’re not supposed to.
“No, nothing. See you, Deuce.”
“Yeah, bye.”
Click.
“So…” Your friend chuckles. Crap, you forgot they were there. “Looks like someone scored a date with their crush, hmm~?”
“That’s not- well, I mean…” A small gloomy frown presses onto your lips. “He probably won’t see it that way, but…” Now, a smile blooms on your face. “Yeah, I- I got a date.”
“A date… with Deuce.” You cup your cheeks, a giddy smile going to your face. “W-w-what do I wear?! And, uh, when is it-”
-
“So…” Deuce feels himself getting annoyed at Ace’s mocking tone. “Someone’s got a date, hmm?”
“I thought you said you had no romance.”
“Shut up.” He grumbles. “We’re just friends, after all.”
Ace internally prays for your sanity. Poor you.

DP x DC: The Most Dangerous Card Game
Ok so Danny has essentially claimed earth as his. And he is fully aware that there are constant threats to the planet. Now he can’t stop a threat that originates on earth (that’s something he’ll leave to the Justice league) but he can do something about outside threats. Doing some research on ancient spells, rituals, and artifacts, he cast a world wide barrier on the planet to protect it from hostile threats so they cannot enter. This will prevent another Pariah Dark incident. However, barriers like this come at a price. You see, there are two ways to make a barrier. Either make one powered up by your own energy and power (which would be constantly draining) or set up a barrier with rules. The way magic works is that nothing can be absolutely indestructible. It must have a weakness. The most powerful barriers weren’t the ones reinforced with layer after layer of protective charms and buffed up with power. Those could eventually be destroyed either by being overpowered, wearing them down, or by cutting off the original power source. No, the most powerful barriers were the ones with a deliberate weakness. A barrier indestructible except for one spot. A cage that can only be opened from the outside. Or that can only be passed with a key or by solving a riddle. So Danny chooses this type of barrier and does the necessary ritual and pours in enough power to make it. And he adds his condition for anyone to enter.
Now the Justice league? Find out about the barrier when Trigon attempts to attack, they were preparing after he threatened what he would do once he got to earth. How he would destroy them. The Justice league tried to take the fight to him first but were utterly destroyed, so they retreated home to tend to their injuries, and fortify earth for one. Last. Stand. Only when Trigon makes his big entrance…he’s stopped.
The Justice league watch in awe as this thin see-through barrier with beautiful green swirls and speckled white lights like stars apears blocking Trigon and his army’s advance. The barrier looks so thin and fragile yet no matter how hard the warlord hits, none of his attacks can get through and neither can he damage said barrier. That’s when Constantine and Zatanna recognizes what this barrier is. Something only a powerful entity could create. For a moment, the league is filled with hope that Trigon can’t get through yet Constantine also explains that it’s not impenetrable. And clearly Trigon knows this too for he calls out a challenge.
And that’s when, in a flash of light, a tiny glowing teenager appears. He looked absolutly minuscule compared to Trigon and yet practically glowed with power (this isn’t a King Danny AU though).
And that is when the conditions for passing the barrier are revealed. And the Justice realize that the only thing stopping Trigon and his army from decimating earth. The only way he can get through….is by beating this glowing teenager in a card game.
Not just any card game though. The most convoluted game Sam, Danny, and Tucker invented themselves. It’s like the infinite realms version of magic the gathering, combined with Pokémon, and chess. And Danny is the master. So sit down Trigon and let’s play.
(The most intense card game of the Justice league’s life).
After Danny wins, this happens a few more times with outer word beings and possibly even demons attempting to invade earth, yet none have been able to beat the mysterious teenager in a card game. Constantine might even take a crack at it and try to figure out how to play. He’s really bad though. Every time this happens, the Justice league worry that this might be the time the teenager looses. Yet every time, he wins (even if only barely).
Meanwhile, Danny, Sam, and Tucker have gotten addicted to the game and play it almost daily. Some teachers might seem them playing the game are are like ‘awww how cute’ not realizing this game is literally saving the world. Jazz is just happy they aren’t spending as much time on their screens playing Doomed.
