Some of my favorite tropes in media

1. Found family

Welp. Why am I surprised?

In addition to a ton of platonic relationships, there's also a bang-on hilarity in each one of these groups.

Six of Crows (the progression in Kaz and Wylan's dynamic??? Nina and Inej being besties??? Jesper and Inej having a running joke of scheming face lol??? Matthias forgoing his prejudices to team up with Jesper and Kuwei???)

The Hargreeves siblings??? (We're not gonna talk about what's going on between Luther and Allison 💀 but the rest of them 🥺🥺🥺)

2. Ballroom dance scenes

Oh, to be twirling across the dancefloor in the arms of your partner (bonus points if it's your enemy💖) and you can't decide if your heightened breathing is due to the music's tempo or the 🌟tension🌟

Whyyyyyyy did we have to stop balls!?!?!? Whyyyyyyyy???? Are you telling me that we lost the opportunity to wear our most artful dresses and have a night of elegant dancing and food and it was replaced by nightclubs??? T_T

3. The sunshine character actually has problems.

Love, love, love it when the sunshine, always joking, always kind character opens up about their own issues and insecurities yet they don't stop being kind and don't lose their heart just because the world is going to hell

Prime examples: Ron Weasley (au contraire, HP fandom, this guy has one of the best characterizations in the books and y'all just sleep on him because you want your special ones so much), Leo Valdez (my boy repaired a whole dragon alone, dealt with losing his mom, was homeless and yet keeps the atmosphere light and happy and makes hilarious jokes T_T), Inej Ghafa (horribly traumatized, has done things to survive in a brutal world, deserves the world, and yet is so, so, so fiercely kind and compassionate and always there for her friends💖)

4. When the tough, scary one is soft for kids or animals

Nothing is more wholesome than watching a stone-cold badass softening towards a kid or adopting a baby animal or just showing love for their family (Five Hargreeves 🥺). Shows that they still have a bit of their heart unguarded wnd hopeful.

5. Wholesome friendships that just stay friendships + siblings being siblings.

My ace ass hates love triangles with a fiery passion and it's really tiring to see every friendship being shipped left and right or being pushed into love triangle *side-eyes CC*

Lucie Herondale and Cordelia Carstairs are my favorite parabatai duo and I need more content of their friendship and antics pleaseee. I need more of them being a chaotic duo.

Alastair and Cordelia are my favorite brother sister duo, just with the way they address each other and how Cordelia thought about killing him during the demon attacks in ChoG.

Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood. The guy sailed across the Bermuda Triangle to rescue his best friend.

Also the potential we lost with Hermione and Ginny because R*wling couldn't write more than one PoV -_-

But on a happy note, Ron and Harry are my favorite and I love these dorks so much. They really become brothers by the end *gross sobbing*

Aru and her Pandava sisters and the two braincells they share🤦‍♀️😂

Once more, the Hargreeves family going from strangers to dumbass chaotic family in TUA s2😂🤦‍♀️

6. Enemies-to-lovers

Bonus points if they're also academic rivals. Why is this trope not used more? We could explore some great themes on the shit education system.

No one? Fine I'll write a fic myself.

Also, enemies to lovers =/= abusive relationships. Keep that trash away from me where the love interests are manipulative, abusive towards their love interests and then later fall in love with them. My favorite progression goes like this:

Ugh pretentious ass, look at them==>ugh why are we working together?==>why do we work so well as a team!?==>goddammit why are they so nice!?==>I guess we're friends now==>what is this tension!?!==>*notices something pretty about them* uh oh. 😳😳😳

Prime examples: Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. Kallias and Alessandra from The Shadows Between Us. Jude and Cardan from TFOTA (I know they're toxic. Would not stan that relationship irl but I loved their development in the trilogy)

7. When the best friends go to an event as each other's date and are mutually pining over each other but are oblivious dumbasses.🤦‍♀️

Bonus points if other people mistake them for a couple and they can't even get out a proper explanation ;)

*whispers* Harry and Ron should've asked each other to the Yule Ball

8. More thoughtfully-written boys in YA

Please move on beyond the bad boy and broody, immortal, muscular warrior trope. Give representation to my PoC, neurodivergent, trans and fat boys. Give boys dark features (I promise they are as entrancing as blue eyes or blonde hair). Make them emotional, make them something other than stoic, make them like teenagers (and not adults playing teens). They deserve the world and well-written role models as much as girls do.

Prime example: Ron Weasley, Jesper, Wylan, Enrique and Hypnos from TGW, and Julian Blackthorn.

I could write essays for Ron but all I'll say is that r*wling did a good job by giving the role of emotional support (that's usually considered a feminine job) to a boy and made him funny and kind-hearted🥺

As for Julian, like I said before ruthless characters being soft for their family make me go T_T

9. Showing feminism with an equal society (as Tricia Levenseller does it), wholesome f/f and m/f friendships, normalizing the presence of LGBTQ people, without trashing men or femininity.

If you have to deliberately create a highly patriarchal society to show off your progressive views and badass female MC, then you're doing feminism wrong :)

❈ There are multiple reasons Asra would use this kind of entrapment on you. Mainly, he did it because you two were hiding out in an alleyway, waiting for your pursuers to pass as you two just made a run from two hideous looking shapes. He’s just trying to shield you and hide you away, but you would be damned if you didn’t admit the adrenaline from running, together with Asra now squished onto you is anything less than enticing. Pretending to still look out if anyone is coming - though you both know that behind barrels and crates, in an otherwise dark street, no one will find you - you can be sure that he notices every gulp you make and every bit of heat that rises to your cheeks as you begin to become fidgety before him. It’s quite up his alley to keep you in suspense and your own thoughts, before he - if you’re willing - leans in for a kiss, pretending he just needs to silence you now or someone will hear

❈ It didn’t just stay by one kiss, but by the time you note that the people are definitely gone, and it’s safe to go out, Asra will have you hooked on going back to the shop as quickly as possible and not waste any time, except if you want anyone to realize what you two just did, coming out of that side alley

Julian

❈ Julian does it often and so, so casually. One moment he’ll be sitting next to you calmly, laughing about the joke you just made, then the next thing you know is your chair tilted backwards, head slightly brushing into the wall behind you and his body literally everywhere you look. Arms at your sides and face right in front of you, his usual smirk paired with the grey eyes that seem to be filled with unspoken promises and a hint of light from the nearby candle. He catches you when the chair eventually loses its balance, but damn, it doesn’t help that you are suddenly pressed up against him, a hand on the small of your back, and Julian going from a surprised blush-in-the-moment to an even wider grin, inviting you to hold on tight to him and he will promise you that the next few hours will be more than splendid for the both of you if you don't let go

❈ He’s still freaking out about what he did the next morning, his suave being finally clashing with his inner dork, but Julian has NO regrets as he pulls the blanket a little tighter around you

Lucio

❈ Admittedly, Lucio stumbles a bit over his own movements, but fueled by determination, he is unstoppable when it comes to pursuing you. All the words he wanted to tell you - may it be compliments, empty promises, the thing he broke that you really liked - fall off his lips and you are unsure how you should feel, his voice screaming, “You will have a very good time with me,” while he also just confessed he fed the dogs pomegranates again and they ‘ruined’ one of your favorite shirts. But all the words that can’t manage to change your mood, he makes up for in being agile and quick. You won’t just be stuck against a wall, next thing you know you’re pressed against him, taking some quick dance steps through the hallway, followed by a twirl, his hand moving upwards your back, a kiss to your shoulder, and suddenly you are under him on his grand bed, pinned down with Lucio partly anticipating for you to refuse him. But how could you when he gives you the puppy eyes and this damn, loving smile?

❈ Turns out your shirt is not completely ruined, it just has some lovely, red paw prints on it now. You kind of like it, but you’re not going to tell Lucio. He’ll be smirking at you from the head of the bed watching you inspecting the shirt carefully before you give up and let yourself be coaxed back into the sheets by him

I do my best to respond to comments, but sometimes I forget. I’m sorry to everyone who I haven’t responded to, I promise I love and adore you, I just procrastinate a lot and then it’s been a long time and it feels weird to respond.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

None of my finished fics have angsty endings, given that they’re all one shots. That said, my incomplete fic, Iustitia, *will* have a happy ending I *promise* please believe me

Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I tend not to. I think the closest thing I’ve written to a crossover is a daemon au for swtor, but that’s less of a crossover and more pulling a trope into swtor.

eyup. Suffice it to say that it was stupid lol

I do! I’ve written both kinky smut and vanilla smut. I’ve written M/F, F/F, M/F/F, and I guess bits of M/M if you count the running joke of Lucian and Ille constantly getting interrupted by the plot every time they try to fuck.

Yeah, years ago there was some site that I don’t even remember going around and stealing basically everything from AO3. Gone now tho

Once as far as I know - it was for a Naruto fic that is now lost to time.

Whats a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Yikes uh, tbh I have no idea. I’ve got a number of unfinished fics kicking around, but once I complete Iustitia I honestly have no idea which I’ll return to and which I won’t.

What are your writing strengths?

I'm a vicious editor who can and will kill her darlings. To be honest though, I’ve had so many different people give me so many different answers that I have no idea.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I have to write in chronological order. I can rearrange scenes after their written, but I have to start on page one, scene one and write straight through. Skipping ahead to write different bits just doesn’t work for me.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I tend to write in the other language for individual words or short phrases. Apart from that, I just write it in english and indicate that it’s a different language via the dialogue tag or something. I find that’s generally easier to read.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

InuYasha! Back when I was a baby writer in middle school.

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Iustitia, hands down. It’s not done yet but it’s shaping up to be my magnus opus, as it were. It’s also spurred me into writing like a godamn maniac determined to rack up a word count like an assassin does a kill count. It pushed me into a writing career and when it’s finished, I’ll probably idk print it out and put it on my bookshelf or something lol

When he first met his BFF Alondra, he was so antisocial and good at ignoring people that she actually got the impression he might have been hard of hearing. She never let him live that down. (one day I'll finish this fic i promise)

"I will keep all of my pain in here, and one day I'll die." ... Okay but listen he's squishy so he takes like one hit and is bloodied up. Someone get him a healer. Pls.

He likes his cloak. Its weighty and soft(well. WAS soft. got a bit of wear and tear these days.) and like. Who doesnt love cloaks.

Alistair's cooking.

Yeah that temporary level wore off then and there, dropping Corn Cob to exactly 0hp and he just- flopped down face first in the snow and started dying then and there KJNDKLFNSLKN

Do you want to talk about the scar over his eye from a fight he got in with his dad or like. The scars on his limbs from the time he was literally experimented on.

I'm 5'4 and I have a very tiny body frame so i'm extremely petite and pretty small. I'm not very curvy and I literally have the body of a cereal box...lol but its fine because I have nice hips and thighs. I have thick brown hair that goes down to my back and it gets tangled pretty easily but its kinda fluffy. I have brown eyes and tiny freckles all over my face and body. I also have a very strong grunge style, like Flannels, band t-shirts, combat boots, leather jackets etc. But i'd also always enjoy a nice oversized sweatshirt or hoodie with a pair of skinny, ripped jeans and some converses or something along those lines.

For my personality.....this is where things get interesting. At first people find me very intimidating due to my resting bitch face and cold exterior but I promise i'm not like that ALL the time. When you get to know me, i'm goofy and about everything that comes out of my mouth is sarcasm or some dry humored joke. I'm also that one friend in a group where they literally will do the stupidest shit ever like for an example one time it was super dark outside and my other friend was there, while I was trying to climb a tree and I failed and fell out of the tree, and landed on my back. I got straight up after that somehow it didn't hurt.....like at all? But yeah i'm super reckless and sometimes people have to save me from myself if you get what I mean. I also have a very strong "I don't give a fuck" attitude and I will not hesitate to stick up for myself or my friends....like i'm the type of person where if someone glares at me, i'll glare right back.

I have bad anxiety and I can be very self destructive. This is where my feisty, stubborn, hardheaded side comes in. If I want something then i'll fight for it even if it hurts me and i'll get into a bad cycle of putting myself down and trying to do better even if I did great the first time but I always push myself too far and other people have to stop me because I usually can't see it when its happening. I also cover my emotions up and I have a lot of trouble talking about whats bothering me or what problems i'm having emotionally so I put up a wall and I act tough, or happy and sometimes i'll be the exact opposite but I try to hide it.Weird things about me: I've grown up in the south all my life so sometimes when I talk a few words they'll come out sounding WAYYY more country and southern then I wanted, I don't have an accent but sometimes my words just come out that way. I also love the smell of cigarette smoke....let me explain. When I was a kid my parents smoked a lot and I was used to smelling it and now it reminds me of home and is sort of comforting. Sometimes in the middle of the night you can find me just staring at a wall or something because I can't go to sleep.....I have trouble sleeping.....

Things I like: I love swimming (I was on a swim team for about 9 years), I love horror movies, I like rain and the sounds of thunderstorms because its calming to me, I also love the smell of rain, I like cloudy days, cooking, listening to 80's and 90's rock but mainly 90's because 90's is the best, My favorite bands are Bush, Audioslave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkoln Park, Pearl jam but i'm pretty open to anything.

Things I dislike: Spiders.......I will scream if I see a spider.

3x12 The Coming of Arthur pt 1

The title is such low hanging fruit I feel bad cracking a joke about it.

It's a quest episode! I love a quest episode. Srsly feel free to send me any and all Merthur quest fics. I can't get enough 😂

This is the episode responsible for the lovely Leon fanon headcanon that he's immortal. Always handy in an Arthur Returns fic.

Uther: you must go on this mission alone

Arthur: *brings Merlin*

I do love Merlin being being a smart alec and nagging Arthur while packing. Excellent banter.

Arthur said

Arthur threatening a young boy like this is such an ugly and uncharacteristic action it makes me angry.

Merlin tending to Arthur while he's sick and injured 🥺

Also I'm sorry but Merlin shows fuckin Gilli his magic but he's hiding it from fuckin Gwaine while Arthur is suffering? Silly.

Cenred's massive army makes me wonder if it's a result of his tolerance of magic or lower standards than the knights of Camelot, or some combination of both.

Poor Leon, though. He's just got back from near death in that forest and Uther sends him right fuckin back in 😂

Looks like they snuck in to Camelot via the dragon's cave. I doubt that was the intention but I still approve 😂

Knowing he's on a suicide mission, Arthur gives Merlin an out, knowing he'll never take it, knowing he doesn't even want him to: he still presents him with the choice.

How come literally everyone else gets a crown that fits them but Arthur walks around looking like he's wearing hand-me-downs?

Morgana might be evil but she looks damn good on a throne.

3x13 The Coming of Arthur pt 2

There's a post going around Twitter about ppl who nitpick at TV shows... this comment falls into exactly that category 100% but I'm sorry, I cannot just ignore the fact that Morgana's got these massive banners and an entire army's worth of uniforms, I mean look:

Every guard with the sigil on his uniform and half a dozen banners in the council chambers alone. That's to say nothing of the ones outside. I mean look at the sheer fuckin size of these things:

Look how tiny the ppl are next to em! They've gotta be at least 15 feet long, at least. Where did they come from? Were they all magicked into existence? Who designed that sigil? What does it represent? Is it Gorlois' banner? I HAVE QUESTIONS.

Leon isn't someone I've ever been particularly attracted to, personally, but his defiant shout of "Long Live the King" in the face of Morgana's threats, is sexy as hell.

Depressed Arthur is such a mood.

So. Gwen. Originally in 3x12 when Morgana essentially invited Gwen into the fold (insofar as a Queen's servant can be), it seems to be a set up, because Morgana has been treating Gwen like shit for ages, why would she suddenly want her friend back? Especially since Morgana knows something is going on between Gwen and Arthur - there's no way she believes that they were actually under the spell of some random sorcerer, that just doesn't make any sense. So you kind of assume - or at least I did - that Morgana is keeping Gwen close knowing that she'll be useful as bait or a hostage, just essentially as a person of value to Arthur. She's known Gwen for too long to actually believe she'd cross Arthur, there's just no way someone as machiavellian as Morgana doesn't see Gwen's 'loyalty' as a simple survival tactic. All of this is to say, when Morgana and Morgause eavesdrop on Gwen's conversation with Sir Leon, Morgana is just like, 'welp, she's betrayed me. Guess I'll kill her in the morning.' as though she was actually expecting Gwen to do anything else?!?! Like, why? It would've made so much more sense to just cut that line entirely and go straight to something like

Morgana: it's as we suspected, she's betrayed me

Morgause: yes, now she can lead us straight to Arthur

And it would've made so much more sense than the weird sort of purgatory they've implied where Morgana changed her mind about Gwen very suddenly the night before she took the throne. It's not a super important detail in the overarching story but it's another example of how carelessly their story has been handled.

Me rn:

I do love that they made Freya the Lady of the Lake, and that she kept her promise by telling Merlin how to defeat the army of the dead.

How Merlin really sees Kilgharrah:

Gwen really is the smartest of all of them.

I do love that Merlin's first undead kill with excalibur is entirely an accident lol

The subtext between Morgana and Morgause is really gross. I haven't said anything before because I generally don't approve of ship shaming but the not so subtle subtext gives me the heebies.

This is such a great shot

Everything about it, his woman at his left and his man at his right, his romantic rival opposite him on his wife's side, as directly opposite her as possible at a round table with an uneven number of placements. It's a really beautiful shot, fitting for an equally beautiful scene. It's a very moving scene, the music really adds the exact emotion you'd expect for this moment we all recognize... and I feel like the knights' oaths are very well matched. The snarky part of me wanted to make a 'call me maybe' joke about Percival, but he's so sincere I just can't do it. The moment of levity added by Merlin's banter with Arthur is really, really well paced. Honestly I think it's probably the next perfect, iconic scene since Gwen and Arthur's first kiss. Hats off to this crew.

(Don't worry dear reader, I'm sure I'll get back to complaining shortly)

Santiago is so dreamy. I'd share his bedroll any day.

I like that despite all the talk of equality and doing the thing Uther wouldn't approve of, Gwen still worries about the company seeing her and Arthur kiss. Like, he's planning an insurrection with a bunch of commoners and two dudes who've been officially banished from Camelot, but she's internalized the classism and the rules of royalty so deeply that even amongst friends she instinctively keeps their relationship hidden. I'm not sure how intentional that was but it's brilliant.

The fight big fight scene with Merlin just barely missing the cup while the knights are cornered, and Gaius showing up like the brilliant deus ex machina that he is, honestly makes the previous budget-slashed episodes more bearable. Because this really is great, even knowing it's great at the expense of those others.

Morgana's screeching is eerily similar to Aithusa's.

I wonder if they knew they were getting renewed for a fourth season when they wrote this. Because you know, it really could've worked as a series finale as well. An open-ended series finale, but a series finale all the same.

As a Queens kid, I cannot explain to you the joy it gives me to watch Arthur and Merlin just chillin on the steps to the castle as tho it were a stoop, which I suppose, in a sense... it kind of is. Ahhh youthful days.

And this kids, is why we're watching with commentary! They've just explained that Morgana's sigil is supposed to symbolize the Rowan tree that's supposed to be at the heart of the Isle of the Blessed. That suggests she designed it herself, so there's at least one of my earlier questions answered.

They talk a lot about how Emila Fox was very pregnant when they were filming her in this season, and they shot entirely around it - and I can't help but feel anger toward Joss Whedon and his 'handling' of Charisma Carpenter's pregnancy during S4 of Angel.

One of them called the round table scene 'curiously moving' and I think that is really fitting. They'd had this in mind for about two years, which is probably why it's so extraordinary. That's a great gestation period for a scene as iconic as this.

One final tidbit: the sword in the stone was filmed in France, and made it back to Wales intact. I guess nobody wanted to take it out. That's kind of an interesting thought, like a little set superstition or something. It's kind of cute.

I think it’d be small and tasteful, and I can’t picture it not being outside tbh!At first Muriel literally only wants it to be you, him, and Asra officiating (because it’s canon he would according to the devs lol and do you really expect him to choose between two of his favourite people to be best person? definitely not), but well, MC brings up Nadia and he’s like. Ok..... Nadia can come too..... I guess...... But then of course she wants to bring Portia as her date. Sure, that’s ok. Asra wants to bring his parents. :| Fine just them and NO one else! Needless to say, what started as a 3 person wedding ends up having maybe two dozen odd people in attendance. Julian somehow wormed his way in there with the express promise that he won’t be. Well, himself (insert “You just gestured to All of me!” httyd joke). It’s in a field of wildflowers, or under a huge ancient willow by a stream. Asra puts a little extra effort juicing up the fireflies’ glow so they illuminates the dusky sky, floating gently around the guests (and also around you both). Asra had the area surrounded by his charms in advance so Muriel would feel a little bit safer. MC is the one waiting for him to walk down the aisle (Inanna is giving him away - she’s also the ring bearer AND Muriel’s best person “she’s a wolf, Muriel” “so...? she’s still better than most people”)He is radiant in his outfit (which we already have seen), and he has tiny blue flowers woven into his hair. He approaches awkwardly, not able to look directly at MC until the vows are exchanged. He mumbles something like “You look..... Well, you know....... Beautiful....”, then he finally manages to look at them properly and almost faints. He knew what would happen but tbh he never imagined getting this far? He keeps expecting to wake up, that they’ll change their mind. routes: Zen, Yoosung, 707, and Jumin Han

my favourite: definitely Jumin Han! he’s more of an unpopular choice, and I see why, but, I love him. his story was borderline obsessive at some points, and im not going to try and defend his weird behaviour, but there was a reason for it. he got everything he wanted as a kid expect for the love of another person, which is why he treasured Elisabeth the 3rd so much, because in a way, she was the only one there for him. but, then after he gets close to the mc, and then Elisabeth goes missing, he sees the mc as the same type of warmth. he definitely could’ve been more casual about his approaches, and less weird about everything, but I see where it’s coming from. the boy’s got some trauma. and, I mean, the mc is kind and stays with him, understands him, and he opens up to her and falls in love with her. I don’t think it’s entirely unrealistic for an otome game. his character development was great. but, enough of Jumin. this is a really well thought out game. the storyline is impeccable, and the characters are all diverse enough that it’s usually not that much trouble picking one guy/girl over the other. but, this game is really heavily dependent on the emotional labour aspects of the boys, which I don’t like. if you want someone’s route, you had to constantly be excited for them and constantly support them and no one else. a prime example being zen’s route, which is still a great route from experience, but there’s too much flattery in the initial stages, if you ask me. also, I don’t have the energy to get up at 3am for a chatroom, sorry Jaehee.

my rating: 7 or 8/10

The Arcana :

routes: asra, julian, and nadia (portia, lucio, and muriel are current)

my favourite: Asra! this magician and his snake familiar got my attention pretty fast, and his heartbreaking past with the mc just sealed the deal for me. his route is so romantic and touching, but has a lot of action. it was honestly perfect. the devs did a great job with the writing of the game, and the storyline is, again, impeccable. I honestly cried when I found out about Asra’s history with the apprentice, and lemme tell you that is a DIFFERENT type of pain.

+Lost Island :

route: ryo tsuzuki

my favourite: none. ryo was definitely eye candy and a perfect guy, but he was the only route I played, and frankly, was the last. the only good things about this game were the action scenes, which were admittedly heart-wrenching since the game took place on a zombie infested island. But otherwise I hate this game with a burning passion, and will frankly be seeing it down in Dante’s inferno, in the depths of hell with every other shall we date game. It was my first otome game, I found it when I was 11 - just out of the womb lmao - and I was so entranced that I ended up spending sixty Fucking dollars on this game!!! I regret it deeply to this day, because the game was horrible. it moved so fast, it was pretty predictable (and I spent the sixty dollars to move it along even though when I look back at it the game exposed itself so many times??) it was so weird. after we cured the strange virus that his ‘missing’ sociopath scientist father created with an antidote hidden in Ryo’s blood and left the zombie infested island, he proposed to me in a bush! a bush! he popped the question in a bush, beat that level of romance ladies and gentlemen. and, I know now that I type it out it some points sound like a pretty good plot, but trust me, don’t let that fool you. I will argue with you about this until my death. and not to mention this bitch was a horny little shit in the middle of what the characters thought was the zombie apocalypse. all in all this game is the bane of my existence, thank you (I’m sorry this is so dramatic lmao)

Dangerous fellows :

routes: Zion, Harry, Eugene, Ethan, and Lawrence

my favourite: Zion! omg what a cutie, still highkey owns my heart. he’s your run of the mill rich kid that eventually rebelled, but his sense of humour and toughness is what won me over. His heartfelt promises and uncharacteristic seriousness in the face of danger were my favourite parts. he’s so adorable and owns all my uwus. I’d fight someone for this boy. this was the game the birthed this account a couple of months ago, and I still love it.

Lost Alice :

route: Owen Chester

my favourite: I know this technically doesn’t really count, but I did like the joker! I never played his route, and he wasn’t involved in Owen’s route much, but what little I saw of him was great. He was joking, vague, and helped Alice out a lot as a guide in the very beginning. if I had the courage to even download this godforsaken game again I’d definitely go for him! as for Owen’s route, I honestly didn’t like it at all. all of these games have a timeline, and the end point is always the main characters fucking. like?? not the thing where you randomly travel back and forwards in time? no, just both living in her world and ignoring it, because, me and bae are official now and that’s all that matters 🤪 plus, classically, he was like the formal king trying to seduce her for funsies and then accidentally falling for her.

Modern Cinderella :

route: Rudolf Oak

my favourite: ..I didn’t really have one. I’m sorry this was a shall we date game, need I say more? the ’stoic’ restaurant owner that ’never opens up to people’ saw me stand up for myself literally once and suddenly his entire worldview of me has changed, and surprise surprise, he wants to date me. This was one of the worst ones I’ve ever played. I really had no favourite, except maybe for the guy that let me stay in his apartment in the beginning of the game and gave me food after he found me in the rain 🤧

Ikemen Sengoku :

route: Hideyoshi, Yukimura, Nobunaga, Sasuke, Shingen, Masamune, Kenshin (mitsunari is current)

my favourite: yukimuraaa, yukimuraa, that bean. i can’t explain very well it but I love him :((. i really loved Mitsuhide, but I liked masamune too! I love masamune’s attitude atowards the mc, and his nickname and nonchalance around her (in sasuke’s route where he hesitated on killing him just because the mc yelled ‘stop!’ out of fear?? 🤧🤧), and I also love mitsuhide’s slightly threatening but caring personality, and that he’s deadly smart! you can’t hide anything from that man lol. Plus the mc describes him as a a good person even in hideyoshi’s route, which I respect. (ugh the devs knew he would be too powerful with a route) but, I didn’t like that after you finish a route, your intimacy is completely reset. like :(( it disheartens me in playing a little because it takes days to build up grace, and im not about to go scouring on those offer pages, because i’m not willing to put myself through that again after dangerous fellows. the formatting is a little wack too, but it’s still nice and something to look past, since the game is pretty great otherwise, and it’s a little older. I love almost all of the characters, (the ones I don’t are for personal reasons, not because they’re bad characters or anything) and I don’t think its cringey at all! it’s honestly a great game altogether.

Ikemen Revolution:

routes: fenrir, edgar, ray, kyle, sirius, lancelot, luka, jonah, loki, and zero (all, idk if I forgot one lol)

my favourite: every time I see edgar my heart goes boom!! I started playing his route literally like a week ago and god, this boy deserves the world. I love his gentlemanly personality and his habit of joking around and giving vague statements or warnings when in reality, he’s very sweet and kind. you’ll never know what he’s thinking, and I love that I constantly have the chance to surprise him when no one else ever does. though, I really love my boy Kyle at the same time. he’s a real one 😤 I really like how the devs handled the Alice in wonderland concept! I’ve seen that go wrong a few times, so this was refreshing. again, with the ikemen games, they’re never really fast paced or cringey in the way some other games are. it takes the mc usually at least 13 chapters to even admit to themselves that they’re crushing on the guy, which I like. it’s more realistic then, say, the nightmare harlem (see other review). also the plot design, the character depth, uGh, as a writer, don’t even get me STARTED. it’s all amazing. and!! the intimacy doesn’t reset, so I can basically just blaze through all of the intimacy checks right away. The only thing I maybe don’t like about this game is about how long it takes to complete one route. it may take you a shorter amount of time to pay, but I always play free

Mystic Code:

routes: cold case, lost case, happy ending: case closed, wrong suspect (2), true ending

my favourite: this technically isn’t an otome game. I admittedly didn’t really like this game as much as I liked dangerous fellows, but it was still really good! I just thought dangerous fellows’s story was a little better, and there’s obviously the added bonus of being able to romance any of the main characters. You couldn’t romance any of the characters in mystic code, and while the story made up for that a lot, I was still a little disappointed. Plus, romancing the characters could‘ve really made for a more complex storyline.. 👀 I won’t give any spoilers,, but the story really did make up for it for the most part. but, I guarantee you that if you could play routes, I’d choose eliot. he’s got that confident and playful but serious and smart personality I fall into every time, and I would’ve liked to get a chance to see more sides to that.

Love and Producer (Mr Love: Queen’s Choice):

my favourite: ohoho do I have a story about this one. i was going through pinterest one day a few weeks ago when I came across this picture. and idk, something about it had me starstruck, so I looked for what the image was from and found out that it was from a chinese otome game! at the time, I didn’t know that there was an english version out, so I was really disappointed when I found out I couldn’t play it. but!! through a dangerous fellows account I follow on instagram, I downloaded this game by chance and realised it was the same game under a different name. now, I was completely right to be starstruck, because I love Gavin, he’s amazing! He and the mc were classmates in high school, and they have this ~thing~ that happened in the past that’s vaguely talked about, which is a moment with the wind and ginkgo leaves (which is super nice and romantic af, since he has a wind evol) and I think there’s other parts, but I won’t give away any more spoilers that aren’t obvious and/or easily accessible. the only thing I maybe have wrong with this games that the cliffhangers it can leave you off on before it tells you to level up more are emotionally shattering, and the karma levels/movie shootings are a little annoying, but they’re easily fixable and easy to pass if you snoop around the game a little and figure out how it works. I also really like how though there are no technical routes, each “romance” with the other the guys is completely plausible and any could be endgame easily.

(+ damn, Gavin’s one main line ‘as long as you’re in the wind, I’ll find you.’ is really nice and romantic to me also, since there’s another line from a book I love that’s “I’ll be your map. Where you go, I go.” but idk maybe i’m just biased)

The Princess Closet:

route: reo

my favourite: honestly, I hated this game, so I didn’t really have a favourite. It sounds dramatic, but it’s really true. I was snooping through the App Store one night around midnight looking for a new otome game, and I stumbled upon this one with pretty great reviews. So I, the otome hoe that I am, was like ‘okay fuck it’ and downloaded it. Basically, the game’s storyline is this guy comes up to you and is like ‘you’re my princess, I finally found you’ and the mc is like ‘wtf are you talking about’ but is flattered and sorta curious so she goes back to his studio where she agrees to become a model. like?? girl what?? he could’ve taken you into a back alley and killed you, but she didn’t care. then, in the first chapter, she does her first modelling job then the main guy (reo, also the fashion designer) comes up to her, basically pins her against the wall and is like ‘I knew you were perfect, but I didn’t imagine this. Now, since I always get what I want, I’ll have to make you mine because I’ve taken interest in you.” like,, okay bro. I deleted the app after that. if you like that kind of stuff, that’s fine, but it seems too outright and cringe to me. plus, this isn’t really relevant but I didn’t really like the formatting.

Ikemen Vampire:

route: Napoleon, Arthur, Leonardo, Mozart, Vincent (double clear for both Arthur and Napoleon!)

my favourite: oh my god, this game finally came out with an English version and I’m so excited! I barely knew anything about this game before this morning, but it’s seriously good. I was sceptical in downloading it at first though, because vampire related things usually come out in a fashion similar to something like diabolik lovers, but this blew my expectations out of the water. the writing is amazing, and had me literally stopping between moments and being all nerdy about it. plus, all of the characters are based on real people of history, and I like that part. It’s a really cool idea. but the best part!! all of the characters are more or less like normal people. I’m not sure if that exactly makes sense, but it’s relief to me. I’m also really thrilled about some of the stories in the game. like, bonaparte is a half vampire?? nice, I wanna know more! you have to be da vinci’s fake lover?? coolio. but, I’m kinda bummed that there aren’t more routes out. Issac Newton, Napoleon Bonaparte, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Theodorus Van Gogh are definitely my favourites,(Theo is best boy 😤✊🏻) and I would’ve liked to play other routes too, but that’s totally good, because games are hard work.

THE NIFLHEIM+:

route: Leo

my favourite: I gotta say, this wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. And that’s surprising, since this is a shall we date game. The storyline was pretty good, sorta like sleeping beauty with a twist, and while it was really cringey at some parts, it wasn’t too overbearing in my opinion. There’s a variety of characters to romance, and while they all have pretty stereotypical personalities in some way, it was still somewhat enjoyable to play. Though, I didn’t finish the game because I didn’t like the route I was playing, the way it was set up or the ticket system was kinda weird (one every 4 hours. you could log in once every month and it would say ‘welcome to your fourth day!’ even if it’s been four months in reality) if I did another route, though, it would probably be Nick, because his route seemed fun from the preview.

Nightmare Harlem:

route: oswald

my favourite: honestly, my favourite was still Oswald. (though it’s a close second to Lucas, who never entered the room in any way other than the window) he was a sweet bean and didn’t deserve any of the shit any of the other suitors gave him. now that I think about it, the plot is creepily similar to ikemen vampire’s. the mc is walking home one night when a portal opens up under a red moon that takes her to a mansion full of vampires! but, maybe that’s just an overused plot. this is from the same company as princess closet, but I think it’s a little better. don’t get me wrong, though, it was still cringe to the max. the mc insisted on helping with work around the mansion exchange for letting her stay there until that portal opened again (hello ikemen??) and the main guy was like ‘pfft sure’ and that’s where she met oswald, the gardener. but, the main thing that turned me off of this game was how fast the romance came. she spent a day outside with him, talking about whatever, then decided she liked the time she was with him and was disheartened when he had to leave. you know, totally not like any kind of normal friendly relationship at all. and after that she was like ‘oh shit what’s this feeling in my chest’ when she saw him at dinner. like, I get the quick crush thing but she’s all like “am I falling in love??/?” and to make it BETTER the next day he’s like ‘oh shit what’s this feeling in my chest’ after, again, spending a day with her and doing nothing more but exchanging smiles otherwise. and the other guys are in on it instantly too! one of them even tries to set them up! and I just- I couldn’t take it seriously after a while.

Ayakashi: romance reborn:

route: Koga

my favourite: honestly, how to choose?? At first, I really liked Ginnojo and Toichiro, but after playing for a bit, Koga and his stupid dice swept me off my feet. I’m only at chapter 20 since I started playing a few days ago, but I can already tell that koga is very friendly and jokes around a lot, and the moment she ever has a problem he’s there to help her. he’s an oni ogre ayakashi, and I also think that’s super cool tbh. the game itself is sort of like mr love queen’s choice in the way that you get cards and have to level them up and that corresponds to how well you do in the game, but there are more romance aspects to this game than mlqc. after you finish book one (comprised of 50 chapters) it branches off into the 4 routes that are available to play. (Koga the oni ogre ayakashi, Kuya the tengu ayakashi, Ginnojo the Mizuchi dragon ayakashi, and Aoi the satori seer) I think it’s a really interesting and fun game, but I don’t like that the only way you can get keys to play the main chapters is through patrols, which can get repetitive, especially when you can only play the same 5 or so locations before the lp cost is more.

Honey Magazine:

game/route: wanted: son in law // taiga takajo

my favourite: I should really change this label ^^. Honey magasine is an otome app that’s comprised of many stories that you can play at once. honestly, I didn’t have high hopes for this one based on the look of it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am super super super super picky when it comes to otome games, but this one genuinely could’ve been worse. in the story I played, a journalist was invited to her billionaire grandfather’s estate to pick out a fiancé, but that was unbeknownst to her, seeing as this was the first time she’d talked to her grandfather since she was 5 years old. she went through the whole night meeting these different guys before she had to choose one the next day. I didn’t like this part because I probably got one interaction with each character max, and really didn’t get to go very deep into any of them. in the end, I chose Taiga, the heir to a fortune and the CEO of his own company at the ripe age of his early 20-somethings. honestly I only picked him because he kinda looks like Yuta from nct and since I didn’t really like any of the others, I had nothing to lose lol. He’s emotionless and very cold but subtly caring, and this drives the mc crazy as he claims that he’ll just parade around with her if he needs to and act in front of other people. she promises that she’ll make him fall in love with her, and well, the rest is history. I won’t get into his route much, but, I think it’s about what you would expect from a situation like this, not that it would ever happen. it’s not terrible, and I think that if someone had paid a little more attention to it it could’ve been great, not just okay.

Twilight School:

route: Wade

my favourite: this game was actually recommended to me by a follower, and honestly, I do really like it. but, it’s a good thing that I liked Wade, because I’m not the biggest fan of either Rylan or Hogan. I’ve never liked the idea of werewolves, and Rylan is just the epitome of twilight meets vampire diaries to me. (even though neither of them really have to do with werewolves lol) and, hogan, idk. he’s got a nice personality, but I’m not really interested in him beyond that. Wade reminds me of Eugene, to be honest. that’s not why I like him, but I just thought I should get the observation out there. what I don’t like about this game is the gem system. yes, I wanted to kiss wade’s hand when he was sitting next to me after I woke up from being sick, but could I?? no. and I’m still disappointed about it, thank you very much. I also don’t really like the scene where they all fight over her in front of her. like, uh, can I get a waffle?? can I PLEASE get a waffle? but overall yes! it’s a very good game and I love the storyline and mystery.

Samurai Love Ballad Party:

route: yukimura sanada

my favourite: (i keep mixing up the name smh) is every yukimura character an absolute sweetheart?? because it sure seems like it. I found out about this game though a discord server I’m in, and honestly, from the looks of it, my expectations were low. Format is a big part of an otome game, and this one is obviously old, and that kind of dimmed my likeness a bit. But, the story is really fun. Kinda cringey, but still fun. I had no idea it was also in the sengoku era, so that was a fun surprise. I played the prologue laughing and joking around the entire time, and it was honestly really fun. i knew I liked yukimura from the moment he appeared, and chose his route immediately when I could. One thing though, this doesn’t bother me, I just think it’s kinda funny, is that the choices you make actually determine a good or bad ending rather than the romantic or dramatic I’m used to. So, seeing that ‘you could’ve chosen better...’ message after a chapter is always refreshing lol. (I get those a lot because I literally have 2 brain cells 🗿)

favourites: THIS IS A SHALL WE DATE GAME?? it blows my mind, because I absolutely love this game but normally hate swd games (see lost island for reference lmao) the format is cute and modern and easy to navigate, but isn’t in your face bright and not too bland either. there’s a lot of options to go for, like the random calls and messages you get throughout the day plus the person you want to choose from majolish and display on the home screen has little things to say to you ever 15 seconds or so. the ap/stamina system is similar to ayakashi, so it was refreshing to already know how to deal with that, and I do like how while it goes fast, it doesn’t take much to regen. The actual story function is similar to that of mlqc, though, with the mission and then story part. There are no actual routes in the game as of right now, but the game is still being updated, so there might be in the future when the storyline is complete! I really hope there is, because I totally wanna do some of their routes like 😳 My favourite at first was Mammon, because from the get-go he’s the energetic dumbass that’s always by your side like fenrir and I just appreciated that, especially when I didn’t know any of the other characters yet. but then I actually got into the game more and while I still do like mammon, it’s a bit less and I do have some new favourites now. first off is Lucifer, who I really was neutral with most of the time (which shouldn’t have been the case considering he threatened/tried to kill the mc at least twice lmao) but yeah, sometime along the way I went from 😶😶😶 to 🥰🥰🥰 and that was that. Second is probably either Satan or Belphegor because they’re just both adorable and I like belphegor’s voice and sense of humour and satan’s love for books and considerate personality

As someone growing up with the Brother Grimm stories and all, I was less Anderson fan. But you know with the Little Mermaid he really did a good job, and yes, it was the inspiration for the ending. My stories never have a typical happy ever after, but you don’t have to worry it will still be... sweet in some form. I don’t want to make promises but it will be good. And I don’t just say that to calm myself hahahaa... yeah.

Home Away From Home (Ch.3)

TRR AU: Drake decided to leave the engagement tour in LA after they found Tariq, what will that mean for Drake and Emma? Will she end up with Liam?

A/N: Julian, CA is a real place lol. Look it up if you don’t believe me. Also, yes I do speak some Italian!

Last Time: Drake was wrenched back in his memories to the first time he thought he may have feelings for Emma, and the very first time they kissed, but he got a rude awakening that same day when he accidentally caught her making out with Liam.

Chapter 3: Make you Feel My Love

When his thoughts finally cleared he realized he was getting low on gas and had no idea where he was, somewhere in the mountains, he had no recollection of how he got from the beach to the mountains, but now he needed to figure something out. As if it was divine intervention, he saw a sign for a town called Julian, only ten miles away. He followed the sign and he honestly almost drove right through it was so small. Turning onto a side street he found some parking and climbed out, wandering through the town. Every other shop had some kind of advertisement up about apples. He thought he was going crazy at first, it was like someone had condensed Cordonia into a tiny little town and dropped it in California. It didn't take him long to find the town hall, he meandered in and learned a lot. It had been an old mining town, that would explain the decor and style of buildings, and then it became known for all their apple orchards and famous apple pie. There was a cabin just a few miles away that had gone up for sale, Drake hadn't thought he'd find someplace so quickly, but he did. Julian was his place. Big enough that not everyone knew you, but small enough where it wasn't too crowded. Even though he was surrounded by apples, it reminded him of home, of Cordonia, and not of her. He took a few days to settle in before he really started to explore, little boutiques, cafes, souvenir shops, even some wineries in town.

Once he had settled in, he got a new phone and texted Liam.

I'm safe. That’s all he said, Liam asked him more, but Drake wouldn't share. He knew the kind of persuasion power she had, she was a temptress, he could never say no to her and she knew it. She had that same kind of hold on Liam, Drake was sure of it. He remembered the first time she gave him a nickname, that was when he knew he loved her, despite all his attempts to push her away, to not want her. She was irresistible and fierce, pushing back ten times harder than he pushed her away.

Drake was on his way out to find some real food when he ran into her. She was still wearing the dress from the event in Italy earlier that night. Sparkling red, a plunging neckline with small lines of fabric running down her chest, almost like trails of blood. Every step she took the dress swished by her ankles, the rest of it hugged her curves so tightly it left little to the imagination as her hips swayed. Holding his arm out to her, Drake led her through the quiet lamp-lit streets, dashing into the first open restaurant he found. The aromas of fresh tomatoes and spices filled the air of the tiny restaurant, it had a cozy kind of mom and pop feel to it as they slid into a booth. A kind, middle-aged, man offered them some menus.

“So, this is more your style huh?”

“A menu, a table, and the promise of good food. That's all I need.” The man asked them a question in Italian. Drake didn't know much Italian, any really, just a few basic words. Emma smiled at his confusion, not passing up the opportunity to tease him.

“Didn't think your plan through?” She was going to answer for them. She had taken Italian in college, not that she ever thought she'd actually use it, but she had the chance now.

“No, I've got this.” Emma decided to sit back and watch Drake who turned to the man.

“Spaghetti and pizza.”

“Drake... you forgot the lasagna.”

“You're right, my vocabulary’s too limited.”

“I'm disappointed in you.” Drake saw that familiar gleam in her eye, she was teasing him, like she loved to do.

“We'll have to make do.”

“So, do you do this often?”

“This isn't my first time going rogue. Following Liam around you often end up in foreign lands.”

“Well, now you've got me for company.” her hand twitched like she wanted to reach over and grab Drake's, but she stopped herself.

“That means more pressure to not look like a fool.”

“You could never look like a fool to me, Drake.” His eyes met her steady gaze and he knew she meant it, no jokes, he dragged his eyes away, she always got to him. Just then, the man returned with spaghetti and pizza for them. The man gave Drake a smile and turned away.

“Grazie, signor!” Emma added as he walked away, the man cracking a real smile as he nodded at Emma. Drake looked at Emma, surprised but impressed, she never ceased to amaze or surprise him.

“Oh, I think he misunderstood.” Drake looked down and saw only one bowl of spaghetti. Emma giggled and grabbed a fork diving in.

“We'll make do, Drake.” He shrugged and grabbed his own fork diving into the delicious noodles before he could get a bite, Emma snagged it off his fork. Sucking the noodles up, she left one hanging, leaning in so close to Drake he could smell her intoxicating perfume. He wanted to scoop up that noodle, bring her in for a kiss, but he had to restrain himself. He forced himself to look away and grab a slice of pizza instead.

“So why didn't you speak up earlier when I was struggling? You clearly know some Italian.” Her lips curled into a lazy smile.

“I didn't want to show you up on our first date. The male ego is a fragile thing.”

“What?” Drake almost spit his food out all over the table at the mention of the word date. Sure they'd been flirting and shared some kisses, but they weren't dating, she was still Liam's girl and that's the exact reason he hadn't kissed her just seconds ago.

“A nice meal at an Italian restaurant, you invited me to.”

“I invited you for food because I thought you were hungry. Normal people eat when they're hungry!” Drake's words came out fast and flustered, color rising to his cheeks as Emma watched, suppressing a laugh.

“I'm okay with it.” She batted her eyelashes.

“I… err… you're killing me, Barnes.” Drake sighed, wiping some pasta sauce off his face. Deciding she tortured him enough for the moment, she changed the subject.

“I noticed we didn't have to sneak past any palace security tonight. Can you just come and go as you please?”

“I'm not nearly as important as Liam, besides Bastien trusts me. Knows I can take care of myself, we go way back.”

“Ooh, storytime!” Drake suppressed a smile.

“I don't know what's gotten into me tonight. I guess I'm just in a sharing mood.”

“Maybe it's the company.”

“I want to give you a hard time, Barnes, but the truth is I'm just so damned happy to be spending time alone with you, away from that circus.” So, he opened up about Bastien, his father, his childhood when Bastien would babysit him and Savannah. Drake went on to tell her about how he idolized his dad, how he went away for college until the assassination attempt on Liam's family. Drake twisted his fork idly in the pasta, lost in thought, Emma reached over and grabbed his hand, squeezing.

“You're a good friend to Liam.” Drake smiled half-heartedly as his eyes shot up to hers, his gaze swept over her face hungrily.

“... Most of the time…” his gaze landed on her lips and stayed there until she leaned in to kiss him. She pressed herself against him, kissing him sweetly, catching him off guard. His body tensed at first before melting into her touch.

“Barnes…” he pulled away, Emma gently rested her palm against his cheek before sliding to the back of his neck, tangling her fingers in his hair, pulling him closer for a deeper and more passionate kiss. Her tongue teased his bottom lip and he couldn't resist even if he wanted to, their tongues dancing together before she finally pulled away breathless.

“You're full of surprises tonight.” He rested his forehead against hers, a hand idly resting on her waist, the other he had to untangle from her blonde curls. Emma chuckled.

“You can't just take me to dinner, pour your fluffy marshmallow heart out, and not expect me to fall a little more for you, Drake Walker.” That was it. That was the exact moment he knew he was done for, that he knew he loved her and there would never be any going back. Drake sighed, reaching out to cup her cheek, his lips brushing hers ever so lightly once again until they heard footsteps. The man from before had brought their check, Drake snatched it up before Emma could even look at it.

“Let me get it.”

“So, this was a date?” She teased but stopped when she saw the look on his face.

“It's the least I can do for talking your ear off all night, dropping all that on you.”

“It doesn't bother me, Drake, I like seeing this softer side of you.” She whispered.

“This is my lowest low. What have you done to me, Barnes?”

“I like your gooey center, Drake. I can tell you're secretly a big marshmallow at heart.”

“Thanks, Barnes.” He cleared his throat awkwardly. Moments ago, he had thought he was in love with her, that it couldn't get any worse than that, then she called him a marshmallow, gave him a nickname and he didn't mind. In fact, he secretly loved it, knowing that she saw right through him. He knew he couldn’t keep this up though, Liam was still committed to being with her once they found Tariq, some small part of Drake held out hope it would never happen and she’d pick him, but he also knew Liam would stop at nothing.

They strolled back slowly, enjoying the warm evening air, stopping on the famous Ponte Vecchio to gaze out at the Arno river below them. Emma sighed and turned back around to lean against the wall when someone walking by caught her eye.

“We should ask them to take our picture, Drake!”

“No, Barnes! We can’t!” He protested but she had already dashed off to stop them.

“Scusi. Potresti fare la nostra foto, il mio ragazzo è arrivato molto lontano per sorprendermi.” She said, he had no idea what it meant, but she returned smiling brightly.

“What did you tell them, Barnes?”

“I said it’s our first date and we want a picture to celebrate.” He rolled his eyes playfully, not knowing she’d actually told them her boyfriend came very far to surprise her. She’d loved how easily boyfriend rolled off her tongue when referring to Drake. He pulled her close from her side, trying to hide his face in her neck, the corner of his mouth twitching into a smile as he turned away, Emma laughing at his stubbornness. The man handed Emma her phone back and admired the picture. He’d caught Drake’s smile as he turned away, and Emma throwing her head back laughing at him.

“Grazie, buona notte.” As she looked, she couldn’t help but feel conflicted, shoving her phone away hastily. She knew she’d fallen in love, but with who was the big question. The commoner who tried to hide his affection for her from the world, or the king who would’ve been beaming proudly beside her, telling the world how lucky he was. She didn’t want to be just another secret, but she wasn’t a trophy to be paraded around either and she knew her time to decide was shrinking every day.

Meanwhile, Drake couldn’t help but think this woman would be his downfall he thought at that moment, he had no idea just how right he was.

Taking care - Julian Brandt imagine

"Now baby, I know the first time wasn't great. But hopefully it goes down your throat smoother."

He'd been running around her all day. Grabbing her hot drinks. Keeping her comfortable in bed. Bringing boxes off tissue with every sneeze. Picking them up as she dramatically drops them. They weren't lying when they said "Happy wife, happy life".

Y/n had been stuck with the flu. Julian hated seeing her in pain. He knew, as her husband, that it was his duty to look after her. The same way she would when he wasn't feeling great.

He enters the room carrying a tray with some hot herbal tea and lunch. He watches as she cuddles up in the duvet, wiping her little Rudolph nose with tissue, groaning at the suffering.

"Baby" he calls out. She looks up and stares at him. She was always grumpy when she was sick. He chuckles as she wanders her eyes to the tray. Smiling at the food but narrowing her eyes at the drink. She did not like his herbal tea. She remembers the first time she was sick and he chose to look after her. He made the drink sound so promising and assured it would be amazing. She still remembers the shock on his face when she spat it back out on his face. While the drink didn't help her, his reaction managed to get her off her sour mood.

"Come on baby. You need this." He tried to persuade. She groaned at his advice. She knew he was trying to be a helpful husband, but the drink was horrible.

"Ju I don't understand how you drink it like it's water." She croaks out.

He comes closer to her, setting the tray carefully on the bed. She crinkles her nose at the sight of him so close, she didn't want to spread her illness to him.

"I just want my wife feeling better and back in arms at night." He says softly, adjusting the pillows so she could eat. She's been currently sleeping in their guest room, not wanting to him to get sick, especially with his role at Leverkusen. He admired her thoughts but he just wanted his wife cuddling him.

"You have another wife I don't know about? Do you make her drink this too?" She jokes causing him to laugh at her attempt to distract.

"No, now drink this or else you'll only survive on liquids" he warned. She quickly stole the drink from the tray, pinching her nose and shutting her eyes as she downs it.

"Good girl." He tease as she makes a welp at the taste.

She watches him as he carefully takes the cup and tidies the room. Her heart swells with love by all the effort he's putting into getting her better. She really couldn't have wished for a more cute caring husband. She smiles widely as he checks his phone on more home remedies. How much she wanted to kiss the life out him.

"You still can." He says smirking at her. He gets into the bed, even at her fight to get him away from her, and snuggles against her. He kisses her warm forehead and softly massages her scalp. She relaxes in his hold and enjoys his warmth, knowing that even with her sickness, this is not something she wanted to end.

She looks up at his face and his eyes switches from her lips to her eyes. Slowly moving forward, he closes his eyes and they share a love filled kiss. Soft and sweet. They both smile against each other's lips.

"I love you Y/n"

"Forever"

I just want to say that this is 100% a perfect request for Gronk, LOL!!

“I feel kind of weird helping you set up a dating profile,” Julian admits.

“What? Why?” Danny asks.

“Because Gronk’s my friend, too. I miss you guys together. I’m not just saying that because it was more fun being around both of you when you were dating,” Jules says.

Danny looks offended. “Hey, you were my friend first. So you have to help me with this.”

“Ok, I’ll help you,” Jules agrees.

Danny is more nervous than excited about his date in a few hours. He hasn’t gone on a date in close to four years, so he feels a bit awkward and out of practice. He knew Gronk for a few years before they started dating, so he wasn’t nearly as terrified about their first date. Danny doesn’t know much about this guy he’s meeting for dinner and he’s trying to stop himself from thinking the worst.

His phone vibrates right before he walks to his door to leave. He assumes that it’s probably Jules telling him “good luck” or a reminder list of things not to talk about tonight. Danny frowns when he sees that it’s a text from Ryan, canceling their date. He apologizes for doing it so last minute, but he explains that something suddenly came up. Danny would be lying if he said that he wasn’t just a little bit relieved.

Danny takes a sip of beer. “I can’t believe all the bad luck that I’ve been having with dates over the past month and a half, Jules. The first guy canceled at the last minute and the second guy ditched me right before the bill came. I think the dude after that was the one with the weird leather fetish.”

“Dating actually isn’t fun. I think that’s why people fight so hard to stay in relationships,” Julian half-jokes.

“I’ve always dated people that I was friends with first and that always made it pretty easy. It feels impossible doing it any other way,” Danny admits.

“Maybe you should try speed dating. Believe it or not, it’s still a thing that exists,” Jules tells him.

“I have nothing to lose at this point. Why not?” Danny replies.

Trying to get to know a guy and also sharing things about himself in a five to six minute conversation is even harder than Danny anticipated. He’s pretty shy and quiet by nature, so he finds himself smiling when he can’t think of anything interesting or witty to say. Towards the end, Danny’s just grateful that Jules paid for this disaster. He’s almost certain that he won’t get any matches. When it’s time to switch dates, Danny’s face blanches when he’s sitting across from his ex.

“Rob, what the hell are you doing here?” Danny yells as loudly as he can get away with.

“I could ask you the same thing,” Gronk responds.

“Jules!” They say at the same time.

“Yeah, this one is all on him,” Rob explains.

Danny raises an eyebrow. “What do you mean by this one?”

“I just meant that … ”

Danny cuts him off. “You had something to do with my dates being messed up, didn’t you?”

“Your first date never happened, so I didn’t technically mess that one up,” Gronk blurts out.

“Oh my God! You have been sabotaging my dates. How?” Danny wants to know.

“Remember how you gave Jules the password to your Tinder profile … ”

“Trust me, I saved you from further wasting your time with all of those guys you matched with on Tinder,” Rob tells him.

“That’s not for you to decide, Gronk! You can’t just interfere in my dating life because you want to get back together!” Danny lets him know when they’re in the parking lot.

“I know. It was stupid and I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you,” Gronk promises.

“Make it up to me how?” Danny wonders.

Rob introduces Danny to a new guy at his job during an office party. JJ’s big, tall, and very good looking. He’s definitely Danny’s type physically. He seems to be very nice as well. They schedule a date for Friday which is three days away and Danny’s actually looking forward to it. He has a prior engagement to get to, so JJ politely excuses himself. Danny tells him goodbye and then he turns to find Gronk again.

“Thank you,” Danny tells him.

“He’s a good guy. He might actually be good enough for you,” Gronk says.

Danny and JJ’s date goes well. They go bowling first and then they go out to eat. The conversation flows nicely and it’s definitely the best date that Danny has been on in a very long time. They have a lot in common and JJ makes him laugh genuinely. They don’t immediately get out of JJ’s car when they pull up in front of Danny’s place for the night.

“I had a really good time,” Danny says.

“I feel a ‘but’ coming on,” JJ replies.

“It’s just that you remind me so much of my ex. All the things that I enjoyed about tonight, reminded me of him. That’s not fair to you,” Danny explains.

JJ nods. “I get that. Well, if anything ever changes, you have my number.”

Gronk is surprised to open his door and see Danny. “I thought you had a date tonight.”

“I did,” Danny answers as he walks into Gronk’s apartment.

“Did it not go well?” Rob wonders.

“It was great, I had fun. The problem is that I couldn’t stop comparing him to you,” Danny admits.

“Oh,” Rob says.

“I miss you. I’ve been trying to ignore it, but I can’t anymore,” Danny whispers.

Gronk gives him a soft kiss. “I miss you, too.”
