SKZ arguing over the bill
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: ot8!skz × gn!reader (individually)
Genre: fluff
Request: yes!
Warning: mentions of food, reader never pays lmao. Changbin, Chan, Seungmin's were heavily inspired by "Telling your Stray Kids boyfriend you can’t afford to eat out with them" by @ronnierites . If you don't allow this pls lemme know and I'll delete this post. Not proofread
A/n: that's kinda a new format, hope you guys like it! And this have been on my to do list since forever lol sorry for the wait
Tumblr media
Bang Chan
Doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable
But he wants to spoil you so badly
Would let you pay if you were uncomfortable but he wants to make sure you get it he would love to pay for you as well
"You know Chris, I can pay for it."
"I know."
"So?"
"I'd rather do it. But thank you baby."
"But-" you stopped talking once you saw his card swiping. You truly should be used at this point "oh."
"Why do I feel like you're unhappy?"
"It's not that I am not happy, it's just that you always pay."
"It's my pleasure."
"But I don't know, I don't want you to think you're being pressured or something like that."
"Babe, I don't feel like that at all. Don't you worry. You're always doing so much for me, that's just a little 'thank you' of mine."
You gave him a little smile and proceeded to hug him, feeling safe in his warmth.
"I'm so lucky to have you."
"I should be the one saying it."
Lee Know
Bro you don't even spare a chance
He's paying before you even have a chance to take your wallet out of your pocket
I'm surprised you even try tbh
"Should we ask for the bill?"
"Oh, I already paid for it, don't worry."
You looked dumbfounded at him while he was finishing his food. You didn't see him talk to a waiter and you're sure he didn't pay for it before you two had your meal.
"What? When?"
"When we were asking for the dishes. Didn't you see it?"
"No?" you tried to recall the moment with no success "Why would you pay? I feel bad that you pay for everything all the time. I don't feel like reciprocating enough."
His eyes soften and a little smile comes to his lips while he watches you pout. If only you knew how much you did for him.
"Hey, look at me. It's okay. You already reciprocate with everything you do. That's already perfect"
Changbin
He pays with the money, you pay back with kisses
Sorry but that's his boyfriend duty
He is physically incapable of not paying for everything
"Hey baby. I'm off work in 40 minutes. I'll pick you up so we can have lunch, okay?"
You were glad that for once you were on a voice call with him instead of being in a face time like you'd usually do. This way he didn't see the way your smile dropped so quickly.
"Um, I don't think I'll be able to."
"Oh? Why?"
"I'm kinda... broke right now. I haven't received my last payment yet."
"Okay? What does that have to do with anything?"
"I don't want you to be the one who always pays for our things. I should be able to pay sometimes."
"You don't need to. That's my boyfriend duty. You know I don't mind, I actually enjoy it quite a lot."
"Still bothers me though. I'd hate to not contribute at all."
"You can always cuddle with me and shower me with kisses. That will make me happier than anything money can buy."
Hyunjin
Stop he'll be like genuinely so sad if he can't pay
He would let you pay if you were really insistent
But then he'll go like :( and you would let him take the bill out of pity lmao
"Hyunjin, stop looking at me like that."
"But darling, I can pay. You know it doesn't bother me."
"Just this once, let me pay, okay?"
"Okay"
"...Jinnie I really need you to stop that."
"I'm not even doing anything."
"Oh God" you sigh and let your head fall, knowing the man beside you won the argument once more "Fine. You can pay."
He didn't waste a second, swiping his card as fast as possible just so you couldn't have the time to change your mind. After he payed the meal, he took your hand in his and started to walk in the direction of the restaurant's exit with a triumphant (and really sweet) smile.
"I swear I don't get why you like to pay so much."
"My love should be treated as royalty, and that includes me paying for everything you wish for."
Han
Bro is offended
Believes with all his heart that he should be the one paying
Tries to distract you when the time to pay comes
"Were you paying while I was in the restroom?"
"... perhaps."
"Han."
"Baby. You know I like to pay for you."
"But you do that all the time."
"It's my way of showing love! If you ask me, I actually don't think it's enough. It's the least I can do."
He could see in your eyes that you weren't convinced. Unfortunately (for you), he only saw that as an opportunity to spend even more money. Maybe then you would believe him.
"C'mon, lemme show you a little bit of love. You can pay me back with thousands of kisses if that's what's bothering you."
Felix
He loves to pay.
If he could, he would pay for absolutely everything that you could ever want or need.
But if that's something which really bothers you, he will let you pay as well
Tries to do that "the one who invites is the one who pays" thing and fails
"Felix. Don't even dare."
He looked at you confused until he realised you were staring at the credit card in his hand, probably hoping that it could disappear before the waiter came back with the bill.
"C'mon, it's just a small lunch. I can pay for it."
"No. I invited you. I pay."
"Actually, if you think about it, I'm the one who suggested this place."
"Two years ago."
"Still counts."
"Not as an invitation though. I'm the one who asked if you wanted to come here."
Felix sighed, knowing he wouldn't be able to convince you of otherwise. If only he could.
"Okay. Next time it's on me."
Seungmin
LMAO sorry you're 100% not paying
Don't even try
Boyfriend duty pt 2 except he is even more dedicated somehow
"Why did you bring your wallet?"
"I wanted to pay for this one."
"... why?"
"You always pay for everything."
"And I don't plan on stopping so you can take your wallet away."
"Minnie, please. I don't want you to be the one who always end up paying for everything."
"But I want to. I wouldn't mind paying for every single thing for the rest of our lives. So you can't take your money away of my sight because I'm paying."
"For the rest of our lives huh?"
"Don't tease." But you didn't miss how the corners of his lips lifted once he thought you weren't looking anymore.
I.N
Rock, paper, scissors. The winner is the one who pays
It's funny and neither of you can complain about the outcome of it because it's technically fair
Except you always throw scissors first and never noticed it
And Jeongin doesn't have the heart to tell you
"We should change this game."
"No way" he said while giving the money to the cashier whilst trying to hide his grin from you "Not my fault you are horrible at this."
"Seriously though, I think you're cheating. It's impossible for you to win every single time."
"How does one cheat at 'rock, paper, scissors'? Besides, you won yesterday."
"After losing at least 50 times. And I got to pay for some ice cream. It's not the same as paying for a whole meal."
"Get better at this and maybe you get to pay for a whole meal one day. C'mon, we can have some milkshake now. Maybe you'll win this time."
You had a feeling you wouldn't though. He was sure you wouldn't.

Hi um, could you please maybe write something with Stevie and his agoraphobic girlfriend, who is worried she clings to him/depends on him too much for her own comfort and panics and tries to distance herself from him? (Also I adore your writing, you write for Steve so well, it hits me in the heart constantly)
thank u angel! i lovelovelove this request! — you worry steve thinks you're a burden, but really he just loves you (shy!fem!r, hurt/comfort, cw for mentions of social anxiety, 1k)
Steve can tell when you’re out of the shower. The air starts to smell vaguely of fresh flowers and warm vanilla as wisps of steam travel down the hall. He sorts groceries in the kitchen and smiles to himself when he hears your bare feet pad closer, giddy with the thought of surprising you.
You freeze in the doorway at the sight of him, looking more scared than shocked. Wet hair drips onto the neck of your oversized sweatshirt — definitely his. “What are you…?” you trail off, wide eyes darting around the kitchen, now filled with brown paper bags and new groceries.
Steve grins, pink and lopsided, as he slides fresh milk into the door of the fridge. “Hey, babe,” he greets in a honeyed voice.
“Hi…” you waver, brows still pinched with a distant concern.
“Good shower?” he asks, just before a chuckle spills from his mouth. “You were in there for, like, thirty minutes.”
You force a laugh of your own. “Yeah, it was… It was… fine— What are you doing?”
Steve meets your screwed-up features with a brighter beam. He holds a loaf of bread in one hand and chips in the other. “I went grocery shopping,” he answers.
“Okay,” you nod, then shrink inside yourself again. “…Why?”
He shrugs and sets the items on the counter, rambling as he digs into another crumpling paper bag. “‘Cause I knew you’ve been meaning to do it and everything, so… I thought I’d make it a little easier on you.”
Your heart threatens to swell at the simple act of kindness. Your brain doesn’t let it, though. The mean thing can’t comprehend that he’s doing this because he loves you. Instead, it tells you he’s doing this because he thinks you can’t.
“Thank you,” you murmur sheepishly, wringing your clammy hands into a knot. “But, you know, I could’ve done it…”
Steve scoffs. “Of course, you could’ve! I just wanted to do something nice for you.” He puts boxes of something into the upper cabinets you usually have trouble reaching. With his back to you, he rambles. “And don’t worry about paying me back, alright? Consider this me making up for takeout the other night. I really did forget my wallet at home, babe, I swear.”
The memory makes him laugh now that he’s over being horrified about it. He thought about it for days, though — the way he patted at his jeans in search of something that wasn’t there, and how the excuse sounded like a lie as it fell from his lips.
You didn’t think twice about it after it happened. You were more than happy to pay for your dinner that night, especially considering Steve never lets you pay for anything.
As his quiet chuckling fades, he realizes you hadn’t laughed about it at all. Not even the pity laugh you give when you don’t think something’s all that funny, but you don’t want to be rude.
With a worried look pinching his features, Steve looks at you over his shoulder. “What’s wrong?”
Your eyes go wide. “Hm?”
“What’s that look for, huh?”
“What look?”
“That one,” he says with a quiet chuckle, pointing to the concerned frown scrunching your brows and swimming in your eyes. “You look upset about something.”
“No!” you blurt before you mean to. The last thing you want him to think is that you’re unhappy with him. So quieter and less convincingly, you waver, “No. I’m not… I’m not upset.”
Steve crosses his toned arms over his chest, looking less than swayed. “Did I… Did I do something? Should I not have bought the groceries— ‘Cause they were having a bunch of sales, you know— it wasn’t that expensive, I promise—”
“It’s not that,” you assure him firmly, before going suddenly shy all over again. “I just… I really could’ve done it, Steve.”
He nods, furrow-browed. “I know.”
You swallow hard. “I just don’t want you to think that you have to do all this stuff for me just because it’s… ‘cause it’s harder for me.”
Steve’s structured face goes lax with realization. He nods slowly to himself, chest wrenching because he understands it all now — why you look so pouty about the whole thing. Because you think you’re a burden.
His sneakers pad softly against the tile floor until they’re planted just ahead of your bare feet. Steve smiles down at you and smooths his palms over your sides. “I don’t feel like I have to do anything,” he promises with a faint laugh, squeezing gently at your hips. “I like doing these things for you… ‘Cause I like you and everything, I guess.”
You scrunch your nose to keep from smiling too big. “Well, that’s gross…” you mumble.
“Disgusting, huh?” Steve concurs with a lopsided grin before smacking a kiss to your mouth.
Your lips tingle for more of him when he pulls away. Your yearning hands twist at the hem of his shirt before he can step away from you completely. “At least let me help put them away,” you plead with sparkling eyes.
Steve’s face twists. “What do I look like to you?” he scoffs. “I’m not some kinda schmuck that makes his girl put up groceries! Go finish getting ready. Or lay down or something— I’m good in here.”
“I can help!” you protest, doing everything but stomping your foot.
“I know you can. Excuse me for wanting to pamper you.”
You make a faint grumbly noise of disdain but don’t press the issue any further.
“You can make it up to me later?” Steve offers with a plush pink grin. His softly calloused palms smooth over your shoulders, wide thumbs rubbing along your collarbones. “Movie date? At the Hawk? Next weekend?”
Your chest pinches with a momentary panic, but you know he’s doing everything right.
The Hawk isn’t crazy crowded these days, and cinemas don’t usually call for a ton of human interaction. He’s giving you an entire week to prepare yourself for it, too. Steve’s learned all your little idiosyncrasies — for better or for worse.
“Try?” Steve presses at your silence.
You exhale a sharp breath through your nose to dispel the fleeting worry in your chest. You nod. “I’ll try.”

showing your 🍒 during an argument (maknae line)
Tumblr media
here's the maknae line! i feel like each one is a little all over the place, but i think it's still pretty cute 🫢 so, please enjoy! 🩷
Han Jisung
Jisung gives you the silent treatment the whole way home. You have a hard time understanding what he's so upset about. You thought the two of you were having a good time.
You watch him closely as the two of you walk through your apartment door. You cross your arms over your chest after slipping your heels off, gently setting them beside the door.
“Do you have any clue why I'm so upset?” He asks you, turning around to face you. Jisung combs his fingers through his hair, breathing heavily.
“I'm going to be honest, no,” you shake your head, tentatively stepping towards him.
Jisung rubs his face, releasing a quick sigh. He moves from where he's standing and sits down on the couch. “I overheard you talking to Yeji,” he mentions, hoping it'll refresh your memory. “It was right after I told you I was getting drinks. I had forgotten my wallet, so I went back to get it when you told her that you weren't happy.”
You frown. “Baby, I wasn't talking about you,” you reassure him, staying in your spot by the door.
He scoffs, rolling his eyes. “It sounded pretty convincing from my point of view,” Jisung mutters, keeping his eyes on his feet.
“I told Yeji that I wasn't happy about how her partner treated her,” you say to him, hoping he'll at least hear you out. “I promise you. Baby, I'm so happy with you, you have no idea!”
Your boyfriend lifts his head, eyeing you from his seat. You can tell he's having an internal battle with himself. You take a few steps closer to him, wanting to reach your hand out.
“You're a hundred percent sure?” He asks you, causing you to giggle softly.
“Of course, Hanji. I love you so much,” you smile. You bite your lip slightly, trying to think of a way that'll make him feel better.
You push your jacket off, letting the article of clothing drop to the floor. Jisung's eyes glance towards you, furrowing slightly as he attempts to figure out what's happening.
“Plus, would I willingly do this if I wasn't happy?” You ask while lifting your shirt.
Jisung's jaw drops, his hands clutching the edge of the couch. “I– Wow,” he mumbles, pushing himself up from his seat.
You smile widely as your cute boyfriend stumbles towards you. “Be careful, baby,” you giggle.
He catches himself and now stands in front of you. His hands rest on your waist, stroking his thumbs along your bare skin. “I love you so much, too,” Jisung whispers, keeping his eyes on your chest.
“Are you saying that to me or my breasts?” You laugh, caressing his cheek with your hand.
“You, silly,” Jisung laughs as well, trailing his fingers up your torso. Your breath hitches in your throat when his fingertip brushes your nipple. “I'm sorry for how I acted. I should've just talked to you.”
You shake your head, moving some hair out of his face. “It's okay, baby. Just know that I'd never be unhappy with you, okay? I love you,” you mutter to him, pressing a sweet kiss on his lips.
Lee Felix
You furrow your brows at the sound of your boyfriend screaming. You stop what you're doing and stand up from your spot on the couch.
Felix has been gaming with Seungmin and Jeongin for a few hours now. He comes out every once in a while, but it's been over an hour since you've seen him last.
You slowly walk towards his gaming room, gently knocking on the door before opening it. You peek your head inside, seeing Felix gripping his hair. “Baby, everything okay?” You ask, and he turns around to face you.
“I'm fine. Can you leave?” He mutters, shocking you a little.
“Uh, yeah, of course,” you stumble over your words, not expecting Felix to speak to you that way. “I ordered dinner. It should be here soon, okay?”
He grunts in response, waving a hand while swiveling around to face the computer screens.
A tiny sigh comes from your lips as you gently shut the door. You tuck some hair behind your ear, wondering if there's something you can do to cheer him up a smidge.
You walk into the kitchen, grabbing his favorite drink. You're not particularly fond of how angry he gets when he loses. Before you're able to deliver his drink, there's a knock at your door.
You set the drink down on the table, heading towards the front door. You open it to see the food you ordered, almost squealing in excitement.
“Thank you so much!” You say to the delivery guy, taking the bag from his hands.
After shutting the door, you bring the delivery to your kitchen table. You separate your food from Felix's before setting his drink into the bag. You grab the bag and make your way back to his game room.
“Baby, I got your food and a drink,” you say while walking into the room.
Felix is currently in the middle of a match, the sounds of his mouse and keyboard echoing off the walls.
He curses at his teammates under his breath as you set the food down. You watch him silently for a minute, not wanting to interrupt his match.
“Seungmin! I'm fucking dying over here. Can one of you help me?!” Felix almost screams, halting his game movements to slam his fist on the desk.
You jump a bit, not expecting him to get so loud. “Baby,” you try to warn him, not wanting to get any complaints from the neighbors.
Felix does it again when his character dies. “I'm dead. I'm fucking done,” he says into his headset before fligging it off his head.
His dark eyes meet yours, and you feel more nervous than you've ever felt with him. “I brought dinner and your favorite drink,” you mutter softly, pushing the bag towards him.
“I'm not in the mood. I'll eat it later,” Felix mentions, his eyes dancing from you to the bag of delivery.
“But, you haven't eaten all day,” you frown, knowing that he hasn't eaten a full meal once today. “It's almost nine, you need to eat.”
Felix closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “Y/N, I said not now. I'm pissed off, and I don't need you babying me,” he almost snaps, glaring at you.
You shake your head and decide to do something bold. You lift your shirt, exposing your naked chest to him. You watch as his eyes shift to your chest, the anger in them dissipating.
“Shit,” he whispers to himself, reaching a hand out to touch them. Felix stands up from his chair as well, getting closer to you. “If this is a new way to get me to shut up, use it more.”
A giggle leaves your lips, and his eyes meet yours again. “They'll bring back the Felix I know,” you joke with him, bringing a hand to his face.
You bite your lip when his finger brushes your nipples. “Thank you for dinner, baby,” he mutters after placing a kiss on your lips. “I can have you for dessert, right?”
Your breath hitches in your throat as Felix wraps an arm around your waist. You rest your hands on his chest, gently gripping the shirt he's wearing. “Yeah, of course,” you whisper to him, kissing him once again.
Kim Seungmin
A hand wraps around your wrist before they tug you away from the person you're speaking with “Wait‐” you cut yourself off, realizing the person who dragged you away was Seungmin.
“You wait,” he mutters, hearing the annoyance in his voice.
He drags you towards the restrooms, shoving you into the girls' room. You stumble a bit and catch yourself on the sink. Seungmin locks the door before facing you, crossing his arms over his chest.
“What's wrong?” You ask him, reaching a hand out to him.
Seungmin evades your touch, and it breaks your heart a little. “You're supposed to be here with me,” he tells you, raising an eyebrow. “Yet, you've spent the past forty-five minutes talking to some dude.”
You frown, pressing your lips together for a second. “I'm sorry. I didn't realize it was that long,” you apologize, not wanting to argue in a nightclub's bathroom.
“Did you even try to leave? Do you want to be here with me?” Seungmin questions you, his hands dropping to his sides.
“Of course!” You say with no hesitation, taking a step forward. “I've been wanting to go out with you for years, Seungmin.”
He sighs, feeling the tips of his ears heating up. “You don't act like it, Y/N,” he says with a frown. “Maybe I should just bring you home.”
You shake your head, putting your hands on his chest. “No, wait! Seungmin–"
Your date pushes your hands away from you, moving to unlock the door. You run your hands through your hair and block his path again, staring up at him.
“Y/N,” he sighs, rubbing his face.
You lift your shirt, exposing your naked chest. Seungmin's eyes widen at the sudden action, his cheeks blushing and attempts to not look at you.
“Can I talk now?” You ask him, ducking a bit so you can look in his eyes. He swallows thickly, nodding his head. “I tried so hard to get out of talking to him. Believe me, okay? I wanted to get back to you and spend my time with you.”
He parts his lips, wanting to say something, but nothing comes out. His gaze dips to your chest, not believing that they're still out. “Uhm, I–” Seungmin pauses, wiping his hands on his jeans.
“Are they distracting you?” You ask in a whisper, chuckling softly. He nods his head while meeting your gaze.
You giggle some more, reaching forward to grab one of his hands. “If you are willing to stay and continue our date…” you trail off, placing his hand on one of your breasts. “Then you'll be able to do this more often.”
“You're cruel,” he mutters, shaking his head. He squeezes your breast, and you gently bite your lip. “But you're so pretty.”
It's your turn to blush, diverting your gaze away from him. “Thank you, Seungmin,” you whisper loud enough for him to hear. You fiddle with your fingers, looking back at him after a minute of silence. “Do you still want to take me home?”
“No, no, we can continue,” he tells you, squeezing you again. “Now, cover up. Those are mine.”
A gasp escapes your lips, not expecting him to say that to you. You lick your lips and lower your shirt down, covering yourself up. “Kim Seungmin, you dog,” you laugh, slapping his arm playfully before he leads you out of the bathroom.
Yang Jeongin
“Why did we leave the party?” You ask Jeongin, your voice slurring with intoxication.
He shifts his eyes to you, not saying anything before continuing to open the hotel room door. Your boyfriend drags you into the room and plants you down on the edge of the bed.
“It's pretty obvious why we left,” he says bluntly, toeing his dress shoes off.
You furrow your brows, trying to think, but your foggy brain comes up with nothing. “We were having a good time,” you point out, getting up to head to the mini fridge.
Jeongin stops you, his large hands gripping your arms. You stumble into him, resting your hands on his chest. “You were having a good time, Y/N,” he calls you by your name, causing your chest to clench a smidge.
“You told me I could,” you mutter.
“Yeah, one or two! I didn't expect you to get fucking drunk,” he huffs, sitting you back down. “You were embarrassing me.”
You scoff, shaking your head before crossing your arms. “I was hyping you up, Innie. I knew how nervous you were, so I tried to make it easier for you,” you confess to him.
“Baby, you told them about our sex lives,” Jeongin sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. “They certainly didn't need to know about that.”
You giggle, covering your mouth with your hand. “Oops, sorry about that, baby,” you pout, looking up at him.
He's still glaring at you, but in your drunken haze, you can see his eyes starting to soften. “You don't look very sorry,” Jeongin mutters, grabbing water from the table.
“I love it when you get flushed just by looking at me,” you say while exposing your chest to him.
Jeongin choked on his water, covering his mouth with the back of his hand. He groans, tilting his head to the side. “Jesus, baby. You can't just do that,” he coughs a bit, his gaze settled on your breasts.
You smile at his reaction and stand up from your spot. Jeongin twists the cap, closing the bottle of water. “Why? When that is the reaction, I love to see so much!” You smirk, reducing the distance between you.
“You're cheating to win the argument,” he whines before chuckling, his hands touching your bare skin.
“Why argue when we could be doing something else?” You offer, standing on your toes to kiss him.
He wraps an arm around your waist, tugging your body closer to him. Your breasts are pressed against his pecs and your forehead against his.
“I'm truly sorry about tonight. My nerves and alcohol don't mix,” you whisper, pressing a light kiss on him.
“It's okay. I love you,” he mumbles, returning your kiss. Jeongin lays you on the bed as his lips trail down to your chest. “You looked scrumptious tonight.”
You run your fingers through his hair, smiling softly. “I love you, too.”

Double edit: actually, that's enough of that.
Edit: I was expecting maybe thirty notes tops. This is a surprise, and one that doesn't delight me. If I hear about any harassment stemming from this post, I'll be more pissed at the harasser than the person this is about.
God. Dammit.
I hate this, let's just out that out there! I'm unhappy that I'm talking about any of this, I'm unhappy there's an issue that's come up at the intersection of media preservation, respecting authors, and one of my favorite book series. And I'm unhappy that I've censored the names in the screenshots I'm about ti post! I'm not happy that I'm helping to slide consequences away from someone who thought this was an acceptable thing to do to a modern working author. But I'm even less happy this is something that happened in the first place, and I'm VERY unhappy the original post has been deleted without a whisper of accountability or apology.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here's a partial screenshot of the IA page, which has since been removed. I get the excitement to share something you love with a new audience. This isn't the right way to go about it.
Tumblr media
First, if Martha Wells' patreon is still in place, I encourage everyone in the strongest possible terms to go sign up for it. It'll charge you one dollar. I've been a member since probably 2018, and I mistakenly believed it was locked to new members (it's labeled 'Currently Closed To New Patrons') until I had reason to look it up last night, when I tripped across this reddit post from earlier this year.
Tumblr media
Now. I was looking it up because of this sudden patreon message:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if the patreon goes away, I still recommend that people sign up. Explore the stories! They're very fun! Even though the patreon has been dormant for years, I've loved having that repository in place.
In fact, in the interest of full disclosure, what kept me from immediately reblogging last night is that I've felt the same archival urges! I bound a hard copy of these stories earlier this year, and let me quote my own words from that post:
I live in a state of perpetual low key stress over the impermanence of digital media and that goes extra for sites that aren’t designed to work well as archives. I hope, desperately, that someday Martha Wells publishes more raksura, maybe even including these stories! I will buy it immediately. No thoughts, wallet empty. I own all her other raksura books in literally three formats, fingers crossed that by printing this, I can actualize a formal official printing of these stories by the author 😂
So. Archiving, yes. But especially with a living, working author, I would never DREAM of posting a public free-for-all with IA and mediafire links. My most charitable interpretation is that OP thought it was fine since the stories were "free," even though the writeups acknowledge that access costs a dollar. Ao3 is also free. Reposting someone else's fic is still understood to be a dick move.
Last night i was left kind of stunned, and I was hoping to see some kind of response from op this morning taking responsibility, and was... disappointed to see that the post was just deleted. The IA listing was deleted too, and I hadn't actually looked up the mediafire post yet but I'm guessing it's also been nuked. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see if there was anything more in the comments, so I found a surviving reblog. And there was!
Tumblr media
So I'm writing this post because I'm... frustrated. Taking down the files is a good step. Posting them publicly was a worse step, but hey. I still more than understand if Martha Wells still deletes her patreon. I don't understand what sending her files of her own stories is meant to accomplish, but whatever. Ascribing a profit-driven motive is driving me up a wall, though. She's financially stable. I read her email, and what i see is frustration that even though it only cost a dollar to access 62k of her work through her own chosen location, control of her writing is being forcibly removed from her. I'm sure that seeing copies sold by third parties wouldn't help, but I don't think that's the root issue.
This is a fandom-heavy website, I'm sure most of us have seen posts about not reposting art when you can share directly from the artist's blog. I've seen posts about stop copying your ao3 faves over to wattpad just because you like reading there better. At a fundamental level, I read the message from Martha Wells as a deep frustration at having no way to share her creative work without someone removing control of it from her hands. And I don't know if there's any way to really take back that damage.

Evan Buckley Masterlist
Part 1
Summary: (Y/n) has to go on restricted duty at the station when she's pregnant. But it's not as easy as it looks, especially when she starts to feel unwell.
Enjoy.

"Pops!"
A wide grin spread across Evan's face and he dumped his bag down along with his shoes by the side of the door before he reached his hands out in front of him. He held his arms out and let Chris run into him at full speed, giggling in his ear as he clearly found something very amusing.
"Hey, how was school, did you have a good day?" He leaned back up and pulled Chris with him, holding him against his chest as he took a few steps into the hall.
"Good, look. Look!" The excitement was clear in Chris's voice and he leaned back and held out the photograph in his hand that Evan hadn't noticed a few seconds ago.
He made his way into the living room, holding Chris easily in one arm while he gently took the photo from him and held it up to see what it was. A wave of anticipation and surprise flooded Evan's veins when he realised what the black and white photograph was.
The scan photo.
(Y/n) had today off and Eddie had been on the night shift while Evan was on the early shift today. Their mix-matched shifts meant that Eddie had the time to go to (Y/n)'s scan with her today, whereas Evan had to go to work. He wasn't impressed at missing the scan. Evan wanted to be there, he wanted to see their baby appear on the screen and hear the heartbeat and see for himself and make sure everything was alright.
He didn't care what kind of looks they would get if both he and Eddie turned up at the scan and had to say that this was a poly relationship and this child was both of theirs. But Evan was hoping to go to the next appointment.
"Ah, you got the photo for me. What you reckon, baby brother or sister, hm?" Evan carefully eased Chris down to his feet and watched him slump on the sofa with a grin and turn the tv back on.
"Brother. Dad's not happy."
"Why?"
Unease rattled through Evan as he shrugged his coat off and did a quick glance around. He couldn't see either of his partners. He looked back down at the photo and traced his thumb across the grey image that was his baby.
"Don't know, he slammed the door." Chris brushed his hand against his nose before he reached out for the games control so he could set up the tv to play a game. He couldn't understand why two of his three parents came home unhappy, but he knew his dad wasn't pleased when he slammed the front door and then the bedroom door.
With a nod of his head, Evan ruffled Chris's hair and headed out the living room towards the kitchen. He smiled softly when he noticed another scan photo was pinned on the fridge. That meant this copy was for Evan, he could put it in his wallet later.
"Hi sweetheart," Evan reached his arm out and reeled (Y/n) into his chest when she walked down the hall. He pressed a kiss to her temple and kept her tucked up into his chest as he moved into the kitchen and tugged (Y/n) with him. He felt her arms cocoon around his chest and her face tucked into his chest making him smile against the top of her head.
He tucked the picture in his back pocket and leaned into the fridge to grab a drink while he stayed curled around (Y/n).
"Good shift, baby?"
"Hm, not too bad really. So, how'd it go? Don't keep me in suspense."
Evan leaned his hips back against the counter and placed the beer bottle down behind him before his hands grabbed at (Y/n)'s hips. He slipped his hands into the waistband of her jeans and tugged her between his legs until her hands fell on his chest and she smiled softly.
Her eyes trailed down to her stomach when Evan curved his hand round and pulled the hem of her shirt up so his fingers could dance over her stomach. She didn't quite have a bump yet, but her shape was beginning to change and (Y/n) knew both her boys were just dying to see a bump start to form.
"It was good-"
"Good? You call that appointment good?" Sarcasm dripped from Eddie's voice as he walked into the kitchen and leaned against the counter across from them. He arched his back out and folded his arms over on the side as his brows rose and he looked at (Y/n) with something close to a glare.
Unease washed over Evan and his hands slipped out her jeans and moved to cup her hips again. He darted his eyes between them both, waiting impatiently for someone to tell him what that comment implied. If something bad happened at the appointment, one of them would have called Evan, even if he had been at work.
"What does that mean? Did something happen?" Evan didn't like the silence he was met with, or the way (Y/n) curved her arms around his waist and tilted her head into his chest to hide herself away. "Come on, someone tell me what happened."
Eddie pushed off the counter and cocked a hip to the side, one hand on his waist while the other arm stayed leaning on the counter.
"Do you want the bad news, or the bad news?"
"Eddie!" (Y/n) pressed her cheek into Evan's chest and glared at her partner, scowling as she hissed his name with daggers shooting his way. He couldn't say something like that and panic Evan, it wasn't fair. And she didn't want to have this conversation like this because it wasn't easy. Eddie had barely spoken to her since they came home and now he was taking this conversation into his own hands.
"Since her first appointment, she's started to lose weight instead of putting any on. And her blood pressure is going through the roof."
Adrenaline sparked in (Y/n)'s stomach and her fingers tightened into Evan's back when she felt him stiffen in front of her. His hands squeezed her hips and he leaned back until (Y/n) finally relented and looked up at him through hooded lashes.
"You've lost weight? Baby, you're supposed to do the opposite." Evan's jaw clenched and his lips pursed when (Y/n) looked back down at his chest and leaned her forehead on his sternum.
He could feel her breaths start to run away without her and pant into his shirt and it made his hands tighten around her hips. Evan didn't want her to panic or get upset but this wasn't a good situation to be in. She couldn't start to lose weight when she was supposed to be gaining weight and eating more than this. They both knew (Y/n) still wasn't eating properly because of her morning sickness, but Evan didn't think it was this bad.
"If we can't get her to eat properly within the week, she has to go into hospital for observation."
"What?"
The way Evan tensed up and let go of (Y/n) made her flinch and she coiled her arms to her chest when Evan moved his hands to grip the counter behind him and he stared down at her. Was she really this ill? Was she really getting bad enough for them to think about admitting her to hospital?
"I'm not that ill-"
"Babe, if you don't manage to eat anything we won't have a choice. You could lose the baby if you keep deteriorating like this-" Eddie stopped talking the moment he saw tears begin to flush down (Y/n)'s face. He watched the way she began to tremble but it was the small, almost silent whimper passing through her wobbling lips that made Eddie flinch.
"I- I can't help it…" (Y/n) couldn't, she wasn't doing this on purpose. She couldn't help the fact that her morning sickness was starting to overtake everything else. Any food started to come back up with vengeance and anything she tried to drink didn't stay down for long.
The midwife said it was dangerous for her to start losing weight like this and with her blood pressure being consistently high and her food and fluid intake being low, she was in the danger zone. She had an appointment for next week and if her levels were still low, she would be admitted onto a ward until she could start to eat consistently and perk back up.
"Mi amor… that's not what I'm saying but we can't carry on like this. You're not telling us when you're throwing up, I didn't know you hadn't eaten for two days straight, you can't hide that from us."
"Two days? Jesus baby- fuck. Baby you have to let us look after you." Evan reached back out for (Y/n) and curled his hands around her hips when she pushed forward into Eddie's chest.
She didn't want either of them to be mad at her. Her hands shook against Eddie's chest which made him feel worse and he curled his arms around her, tightly squeezing her into his chest. His lips pressed to the top of her head but when his eyes locked with Evan, the panic was clear in them. They couldn't let her get any worse than this or she would end up in the hospital which none of them wanted.
"I don't, I don't wanna lose another baby."
"We won't let that happen, mi amor."
Neither Eddie or Evan wanted to think back to that time just over a year ago. They didn't want to remember that night when Eddie went into the bathroom at midnight and found (Y/n) collapsed on the floor. Evan couldn't forget the panicked phone call he got saying Eddie had ferried Chris to his Abuela and taken (Y/n) down to the hospital.
By the time Evan got there, (Y/n) was on a drip and a blood transfusion and he had to be told she'd suffered a miscarriage. None of them knew she had been pregnant.
(Y/n) didn't want to feel that pain again. She didn't want to stay in hospital for a week with an infection and then develop sepsis. She didn't want the pain of going home knowing she'd lost a child she had no idea about. And (Y/n) knew about this baby. She had seen a sonogram and heard the heartbeat, her heart was already attached to this baby. A piece of her and her boys.
She couldn't lose another baby, but she didn't know what to do when she tried so hard and nothing seemed to work.
She tried taking complan shakes but she threw them up. She tried eating fruit or sugary foods and tried to drink as much as she could. Every hour she forced herself to drink a glass of juice or water or pop but nothing stayed down for long.
"Is the baby okay?" Evan kept his voice quiet and directed his question over to Eddie because he could see (Y/n) was starting to shut down. His lips pressed to the back of her head while his hands slowly smoothed up and down (Y/n)'s arms and shoulders.
"Luckily. I'm gonna get a few IVs from inventory and hook her up to them tomorrow. We've been given anti-sickness tablets, vitamins, and high protein and fibre shakes. The cupboards full so we'll have to see if any of them work this week."
Eddie had come home looking like he had robbed the pharmacy. He had two boxes of anti sickness tablets that (Y/n) had to take three times a day so she could try and eat meals. She had vitamins to take every morning, folic acid tablets to have once a day. And some prescribed complan shakes that couldn't be bought over the counter. They were specially made up of fibre and protein and more supplements to try and perk (Y/n) up and make her keep her weight instead of lose any.
If they worked, (Y/n) would have them on prescription every month and she could start to get better. If they didn't, she would be in hospital.
"Come on, you need to start them now before we try and eat." Eddie kissed the top of (Y/n)'s head before he slowly untangled from her and weaved around behind Evan.
They would be eating dinner soon and (Y/n) needed her meds up to an hour before she ate so her stomach could settle and the meds could get in her system. Eddie was praying this worked. He didn't want to think of the alternative if this didn't go well.
"Jesus." Evan's eyes narrowed when he looked over at the bag Eddie got down from the cupboard.
(Y/n) leaned back into Evan's chest when he moved over and pressed his hips back against the counter near the stove. He curved his arms around her waist and held her against his chest with his chin perched on top of her head. Both of them watched Eddie scan through the boxes and try to sort them out. When it came to medicine, they let Eddie organise and sort everything out, it was much easier that way.
"Okay… two anti-sickness tablets, and you can have the vitamins now and start the acid tablets in the morning."
Adrenaline sparked in (Y/n)'s stomach and she clenched her hands down on Evan's wrists when she watched Eddie place the meds into one of Chris's small plastic medicine cups.
Tablets didn't seem to stay down at the moment; nothing (Y/n) tried to take would stay down for very long.
"Can you crush them?" She might have a better chance of keeping them down if they were crushed. Then they would get into her system faster and dissolve quicker so (Y/n) had less chance of throwing them back up and it might make it easier to eat dinner.
But her face dropped when Eddie shook his head. "They're slow release mi amor. Try take them with one of the protein shakes."
Eddie opened one of the bottles and handed it across to (Y/n) with the little cup of tablets. He leaned his hip against the sink and folded his arms over his chest as he and Evan watched her closely. The anticipation was clear on their faces and in the way they took slow, deep breaths. They were hoping this would work. They all were.
Tentatively, (Y/n) sniffed the drink but her throat tensed and her nose crinkled when the smell of strawberry flooded her nose.
It didn't smell appealing.
It tasted better than it smelled, but it didn't go down well. It felt like cooling metal sliding down her stomach and it settled heavy within the first few seconds. Some foods tasted normal to (Y/n) and she tried to eat but even if it was good or smelled appealing, she threw it up anyway because her body wasn't accepting anything and she couldn't understand why or change it around.
She downed another mouthful and had the vitamin first but her foot began tapping against the floor when her stomach rotated.
With a grimace, (Y/n) chugged down the two anti-sickness tablets and a large gulp of the protein shake before she put the bottle down and tried to hold her breath and see if it made her feel better.
"Don't they do the soluble emmetics?" Evan's lips pressed to the back of (Y/n)'s head when he could see she was struggling.
"Not over the counter," Eddie pulled at his lower lip and scratched his hand down his chin. Soluble emmetics were given at the hospital through IVs and monitored closely. They didn't serve them through the pharmacy, not even on prescription. But they were going to have to get something else if (Y/n) couldn't keep these down.
(Y/n) slammed the back of her hand forcefully against her mouth as she gagged and closed her eyes. Tilting her head back into Evan's shoulder to try and stop herself from throwing up.
She wasn't letting herself get any worse than this. She would keep the tablets down and make herself eat. Somehow. She wasn't going back to hospital.
***
"Hey Eds, what's up?" Evan turned the radio down and leaned his elbow against the window as he slouched back in the driver's seat. He let his eyes glance to his phone clipped next to the steering wheel where Eddie's icon popped up on the screen.
He couldn't help but smile at Eddie's rather precise timing. Evan had just finished taking Chris out for a drink before he dropped him off at a friend's house for tea.
"Hey, is (Y/n) with you?"
"With me? No. I've just dropped Chris off at Adam's house, she should have left by now." Evan had been out the house for a few hours now, doing odd jobs with Chris and dropping him off. He hadn't seen (Y/n) since he left home and she was on shift this afternoon so she should have already gone by now. She didn't tag along with Evan because she knew she would have to get ready for work.
"No, Buck she's not here, she's late and she isn't answering the phone. Do me a favour and check if she's coming in or not. I can tell Cap she needs another day off if she needs me to."
Evan ran his hand over his face before he clicked the indicator on and turned a sharp right corner. He thought the house would be empty, which was why he had been about to make his way to Maddie's house to see her. Evan didn't like being home by himself.
But he would gladly swing by home and check in on (Y/n). She had cancelled her last shift and Bobby said it was fine if she needed to cancel or swap her shifts around. But she wasn't answering the phone and Eddie didn't know if she was running late or if she had decided not to come in today.
"Alright, I'm almost home I'll ring you back and let you know."
"Thank you."
Evan said a quick goodbye before he ended the call and turned to pull up in the drive.
(Y/n)'s car was still here. She hadn't left yet. Either she was taking the day off or she was just running late, but that didn't settle well with Evan. In the four years he had known (Y/n), he had never known her to be late for work. She turned up early whether there was a raging storm outside or whether she looked like she was on death's door. Being late wasn't something she knew how to do.
He locked the jeep and headed up to the door, jingling his keys as he unlocked the door and headed inside. The tv was playing an old music channel, but when Evan walked through the hall, he couldn't see her.
"Babe? Baby, you okay?" He wandered down the hall towards the bedroom but he paused in front of the bathroom when he noticed the light was on and the door was slightly ajar. "Baby?" He rapped his knuckles on the door before he pushed it open.
His blood ran cold when he stepped inside. Goosebumps prickled on his flesh and a cold shiver ran beneath the surface of his skin when he locked his eyes on (Y/n).
She was curled up on the floor in front of the toilet, both arms slumped around the toilet bowl and her head was limp on her arm. Evan could see tears soaked into her face and as soon as her blurry eyes set on him, he watched her lower lip begin to wobble before she started to whimper.
"Baby what happened?"
Evan let his knees crash down to the tiled floor and he carefully cupped (Y/n)'s face in his hands and lifted her head up so he could look her over. His thumbs smoothed beneath her eyes and wiped away the tremendous tears that started to fall when she looked up at him.
His eyes narrowed and his thumb swiped across her lower lip which he pulled down while he leaned forward. Her lips were chapped and broken. When he moved his hand to press his palm against her forehead, Evan could feel she was burning up and her skin was flushed with sweat.
"T-three drinks, and my m-meds…" (Y/n) nudged her nose against Evan's wrist before she looked over towards the toilet until he understood.
She'd thrown up all the meds she had taken this morning and the drinks she had tried to take to bulk herself up ready for her shift. She thought if she managed to drink something, she might last on shift and be okay until she came home in the morning. But everything she had, she threw up and now she was feeling the effects.
(Y/n) hadn't managed to keep her dinner down or her tea last night. She couldn't stomach breakfast and she had thrown up the slice of toast she tried to have for lunch today.
"Oh baby, just hang in there for a minute, okay?"
Evan kissed her burning temple before he pushed up and moved to the bathroom cabinet. He found the thermometer and blood pressure cuff before he knelt back down beside her and slipped the cuff up her arm. (Y/n) didn't grumble or protest, she just let her head flop back onto her other arm while the band tightened around her bicep until spots danced in front of her eyes.
Her vision blacked out for a few seconds but she could see the colours starting to come back once Evan pressed the thermometer in her ear.
(Y/n) tried to lift herself up but as soon as she was sat up, her head started to spin and the headache behind her eyes got worse. She flopped forward, barely hearing Evan hiss her name as he reached out for her. His hands grappled with her arms and he slumped her body into his chest and tucked his chin on top of her head while he fished his phone out his pocket.
"Hey Buck, is she coming in?"
"Eddie, I'm taking her to the emergency room."
"What? Why?" The panic was evident in his voice and Evan winced at Eddie's pitch. It sounded like he was on speakerphone with how loud he was talking.
"She's dehydrated, like, thrown everything up and all her meds. And her BP's crashing, it's eighty over seventy."
Evan had been expecting a high blood pressure reading, but with everything (Y/n) had thrown up, her body was starting to go into shock. She was trembling horribly against Evan's chest and she was barely conscious. Her blood pressure was dropping fast and if they didn't level it out soon, it would take a toll on her heart.
"Shit. Go and I'll meet you down there. Try and keep her awake and get some water or something down her."
As soon as the call ended, Evan shoved his phone in his pocket and curved his arms around (Y/n) to hoist her up. "Alright baby, up we go." He didn't like the way (Y/n)'s head limply flopped against his shoulder or the shaking that started to make his arms tremble around her.
"I'm s-sorry."
"What're you talking about, baby? I don't wanna hear that, you've got nothing to be sorry about." His lips pressed to her burning forehead as he headed down the hall and made his way out towards the jeep.
There was no reason for (Y/n) to be apologising to him, she hadn't done anything wrong. This wasn't her fault. She hadn't orchestrated this or planned it or prayed for something like this to happen and Evan hated seeing her crying helplessly in his arms like this.
He tried to be careful and ease (Y/n) down into the passenger seat and when her head lolled to the side, Evan gripped her chin and pushed her head back up. He tugged on her chin until she looked over at him through squinted eyes.
"Stay awake, baby or we'll both be in big trouble with Eds, got it?"
(Y/n) hummed and tried to blink to refocus her vision. She let her head slump forward onto Evan's shoulder when he leaned around her to pull her belt across and she felt him kiss her temple before he shut the door and moved to get into the driver's seat.
She barely heard him demand 'drink' while he placed a water bottle in her hand that he had lying around in the door pocket. But two sips had (Y/n) leaning forward, spluttering the water back out. And her hand started to shake so badly water trickled down her wrist and her fingers pinched and crumpled the plastic.
She dumped the bottle down in the cup holder and curved her arms around her stomach, groaning at the pain. Her stomach was tied up in knots, aching and burning, desperate for the sensation of eating something even though her body was going against her. The back of her throat was on fire and the acid burned on her tongue from throwing up everything from water to bile.
A groan tumbled past her lips and she tilted her head forward, binding her arms tighter around her waist as horrid tremors started to tear through her and she began to gag. There was nothing left to throw up but she couldn't stop even as she coughed and gasped for air.
Evan wasn't surprised to see that Eddie had reached the hospital before him. It was closer to the station and Bobby would have sanctioned Eddie leaving his shift early once Eddie explained what was happening.
He could see his partner stood on the side of the pavement, both hands on his hips and one foot tapping madly against the floor like he was drumming a beat and getting rid of the excess energy rattling through his body. The moment Eddie's eyes clocked the familiar jeep, he jogged forward and followed as Evan pulled up in the closest space he could get to the emergency room.
He was barely out the door before Eddie reached the passenger side and flung the door open.
His hands reached in for (Y/n) and he nudged her to sit back up in the seat with his hands clamped down on her neck so he could assess her. Eddie's thumbs pulled down her eyelids so he could look around her eyes before he did the same to her lips, seeing they were pale and discoloured on the inside and her lips were cracking from dehydration.
"Eddie," (Y/n) tried her best to smile and scrunched her fingers into his shirt when she realised it was him leaning over her. She saw the way his worried lips fluttered up into a tight smile and he pecked her cheek before he looped his arms around her waist.
"Come here, mi amor. Let's take you inside," His hands firmly gripped her lower back around her hips and he leaned her weight onto his chest as he slid her down from the seat.
Her legs trembled and buckled but Eddie held her up and shuffled backwards until he was back on the pavement.
"Let me carry you-" His shoulders tensed and he winced when (Y/n) started to cry. She shook her head and he quickly realised she had noticed where they were.
She didn't want to go to hospital. She didn't want to be back here again. (Y/n) only came to the emergency room when they were dropping patients off in the ambulance. (Y/n) didn't want to be back here for herself. The last time she came here was when she had stumbled inside with Eddie wrapped around her, trying to stop her hyperventilating when she started to bleed out in the car.
She came here because she had a miscarriage and (Y/n) didn't want to do that again. She could remember the pain she felt when she came here, and now one of her boys had to stay with her every day because she started to deteriorate.
She got a horrible infection that left her delerious and drowsy and when she got sepsis, her kidneys had started to lose function. (Y/n) had been extremely lucky to recover quickly from sepsis and have her infection clear up before it got any worse.
The last time she went into the emergency room, she didn't come back out for almost two weeks.
"No, E-Eddie p…please, no-" (Y/n) tried to pull out of his arms but she soon realised Eddie was the only thing keeping her upright. And when she pulled back, her knees caved in and she crashed down to the pavement.
Her hands scraped along the gravel as she tried in vain to turn herself around and move back towards the car. She wanted to go home. She wanted someone to look after her at home, not here. Hospital was where she got the infection and lost the baby.
She wanted to stay at home with an IV. That had made her feel so much better last week when she had fluids straight into her system that way and although it wasn't an alternative or a good long term solution, (Y/n) wanted to do that. Just until she got get her morning sickness under control.
"No-"
"Sorry baby girl, but we have to." Before she could stop him or had chance to shuffle away, Evan reached down and scooped her up. He lifted her up and leaned her on his shoulder with her head slumped down on his back and her knees imbedded into his lower stomach.
His arm locked around the back of her thighs like an iron bar and he swiftly followed Eddie down the path before Eddie reached his arm out towards a paramedic climbing down from an empty ambulance. He knew it looked a lot like they had suddenly kidnapped (Y/n), but they didn't have any other choice. She wasn't helping them and she needed to get seen by a doctor before something bad happened to her.
"Excuse me- we need help."
The woman glanced at them with a very perplexed, worried look until she looked Eddie up and down and realised he was wearing a fire department uniform. That seemed to count for something because she nodded to her partner and waved towards the gurney.
"Baby- no, baby please. We're trying to help you." Evan laid (Y/n) down on the gurney with great difficulty and once she was laid on her back, he grabbed her wrists. He held them as tightly as he could and pinned her arms into his chest while he leaned over the side of the gurney as (Y/n) wriggled and pulled her knees up to her stomach.
"She's fifteen weeks pregnant with severe morning sickness, she's dehydrated and BP's plummeting. She can't even keep anti-emmetics down."
"This way." The paramedics both wheeled the gurney through the ambulance entrance into the emergency room, bypassing the usual reception and waiting room since (Y/n) was now a priority case. They headed down a long corridor with Eddie on one side and Evan on the other, doubled over the gurney like he was trying to climb on top of it with (Y/n)'s arms against his chest.
"It's only immediate family through here, you can wait through there in reception."
Evan's eyes darted up from (Y/n) to Eddie when the other medic pointed at Eddie and motioned towards the corridor leading to reception. They were about to go into a restricted area for emergency consultations and treatment. Not many people were allowed down here and she clearly thought Eddie was on duty and Evan was the loved one since he was holding (Y/n) down on the gurney.
"We're her partners."
"Both of you?" The medic looked between them with an odd glance as she swiped her keycard over the door to open it.
"Yes. Do you have a problem with that?" Evan's tone was as sharp as a razor and his eyes were full of anger. He would fight her if she dared try and tell him one of them had to wait out here. They weren't leaving (Y/n) alone when she needed them both and she didn't like hospitals. They were going to make sure she was okay and got looked after. No one was getting in their way.
"Right this way."

It was a miserable fucking night. Granted it had also been a miserable fucking day, The rain had come down in sheets all throughout the day and well into the night, bringing the temperature down considerably. It was certainly summer, but as your thigh-high boot clicked against the wet sidewalk, you swore you could see your breath.
I just had to fucking go out. You grumbled internally, shivering in your mini skirt and leather coat. It should have been plenty warm enough for a summer night, but even the weather seemed to be flipping you off today. Let’s just get black-out drunk, hook up with a stranger, and forget today ever happened. You hyped yourself up while rounding the corner to your favorite nightclub.
The line was sparse, on account of the rain you supposed. Not that you ever really had to wait in line for this place anyways, you knew all the bouncers and if any gave you a hard time, you’d flash a little cleavage and be on your way.
Despite the minimal line outside, indoors was as lively as any other Saturday night. The DJ tonight was someone local, you overheard, not bad you mused, moving through the crowd to an empty bar seat. Mostly trap beats, but his remixes were decent and the dance floor reflected his musical proficiency.
“Y/N” The bartender, a salt and pepper man in his 40s regarded you warmly. “What will it be tonight?”
“David.” You said back. “I thought you had a date tonight? I was expecting to see Vanessa. Sure the usual.” You slid your card forward, starting your tab.
“You drink so many cosmos we are going to have to start calling you Nebula, you know,” David said, picking up the ingredients to your drink. “Vanessa and I switched. Date bailed. She must have known you were coming in and got jealous,” He added with a wink.
“You flatter me.” You replied. “Nebula is too metal of a knick name for such a girly drink.”
“Eh,” David replied, sliding your glass toward you. “I’ve seen you, you could out-drink any man in this place. Makes me feel bad for your wallet.”
“You and I both.” You said, sipping on the pink liquid. “It’s good. Strong. Make yourself something, it’s on me.”
“And that’s why you are my favorite customer, cheers,” David replied, before sliding off to the other end of the bar, busily helping other patrons.
The bar seats here spun, a trait you always appreciated for easy people-watching. Picking up your drink and swiveling your seat around, you surveyed the crowd like you did most weekends. Mostly, it was boring. You watched them have fun, be messy, get into arguments, meet new friends, new lovers, it was fun, like watching a TV show of what your life could have looked like if things had been different. Some nights you’d spot a creep, someone slipping drugs into drinks or stalking ex-partners and you’d alert the bouncers to kick them out. Some nights you’d chat with someone silver-tongued and deep-pocketed to keep you interested, some nights that person would talk you into bed.
It was cyclical if you had to really psychoanalyze yourself. The theme: unfulfillment, dissatisfaction, and unhappiness. It was easy, much easier anyway, to find comfort in these fleeting, temporary flings, to find purpose in playing superhero and saving a drunk woman from a creep, to find community in the transactional relationships held with people like David. But maybe you were thinking too much about things again, what the hell did you know? You were there, in that nightclub, just like everyone else.
You swiveled around again, signaling to David you were ready for your next cosmo. He had it ready just as soon as you could raise your hand.
“Looks like you got something on your mind tonight. I’ll keep ‘em coming,” David said handing you your next drink.
“Thanks.” You said, taking it from him. “Don’t forget to make something for yourself!” You called after him.
“I love drinking on your dime, don’t worry about me~” He replied with a hand wave.
Before you can turn back to your self-centered musings, a zip of light darted through your periphery. Magic? It had been a minute since you had seen someone else use it, but surely you had to be mistaken right? Why would a place like this have magic?
You snapped and turned to the side, scanning the patrons carefully, but it only took a few seconds to realize who it was who had been casting. A man stood in the corner, tall with dark, masculine features, his shoulders were broad, his chest and torso the perfect V. He wore a plain, dark, fitted t-shirt that showed off large, corded arms. He was the picture of masculinity, attractive by anyone’s standards, and as you regarded him now, he was entirely silhouetted in magic. The silver, translucent aura was unmistakable. Glamour magic.
He had to be an incubus right? The only other creatures capable of glamour magic like that are the tirions, but those were exceptionally rare. You could relate to that. As you pondered the possibilities, you noticed a small, curly-haired blonde woman, undoubtedly human by the way she seemed in awe of this male. You needed to get closer, you decided slipping off your seat and pushing through the bodies until you were in earshot.
“So, why don’t you finish your drink and we can enjoy a few more at my place?” The male voice spoke.
“Well, I - I - I uh, f-f-friend I, uh…” The female voice spoke, a mix of slurred speech and nervous babbling.
Another wave of magic pulsed from him.
“I think we should get out of here, beautiful.” He insisted again.
“I think… that is… okay.” The female replied voice halted, disconnected. Stiffly and robotically you watched her put her drink on the bar top, then equally as robotically begin turn around and begin to exit.
Incubus or tirion, you would be damned if you would let them feed here. You too put your drink down on the bar top and made your way to the exiting couple.
“Hey! Girl we were looking everywhere for you!” You walked right up to the woman, placing a hand on her shoulder. You were admittedly a bit rusty, but your connection to magic was as inherent as the ability to breathe. You called forth your magic from deep in the ground, willing it to run through your body. You could see the magical charm this male held on this woman, and while willing your magic into a sword, you severed the charm.
The woman blinked up at you, dazed and confused. “The rest of us are dancing over here!” You now link arms with the woman, her considerably smaller frame putting into perspective how powerless this woman was to this male. As you begin to walk away with her, the male voice calls out from behind you.
“Hey.” The voice is stern, flat, and deep. More noticeable to you, however, is the overwhelming rush of glamor magic that washes over you. You will your magic up, shielding the smaller woman from its power.
“Hey sorry!” You turn around. “We came out as a girl's night and we wanna keep it that way! No hard feelings!” With that, you pull the woman with you and away, towards the exit.
“It’s time to go home, sweetheart. Are those your friends over there?” You ask the woman. She nods in response.
“Come on, let's say goodbye and then I’m going to walk you to a cab.” You lead the woman to her friends, who all in a drunken stupor thank you for taking care of their friend, and forget to ask why it is she needs to leave. It is probably better that way anyway.
You lead the woman out the door, up the stairs, and out into the cold rainy night. You held the umbrella for the two of you, walking in complete silence.
“The taxi rank is around the corner, but this time of night and the weather I’ll bet it's empty, so I’m just going to call ahead.” You said to no one in particular. You weren’t sure if she was really listening, but you felt better saying something.
Sure enough, when you rounded the corner, the taxi rank was completely abandoned.
“Figures,” you grumbled, watching the poor, shivering woman stand next to you while you waited, the sound of the rain hammering on your shared umbrella punctuating your silence. Wordlessly, you shed your leather jacket and place it over her shoulders while you wait, willing the magic from the ground to keep you warm. It was totally against the rules, but hey, it had already been a weird night.
“Do you remember your address?” You asked the woman. She nodded in response.
“Do you have enough money to get home?” Another nod.
“Did you drive to the club?” A shake this time.
She didn’t want to talk, obviously, and another extended silence descended upon the two of you.
The woman broke the silence this time.
“What happened to me?” She asked, voice sounding hollow, hurt, and confused.
“You were roofied.” You replied, matter-of-factly. “The man you were talking to was very bad, which is why I’m making sure you get home.”
“I’ve been roofied before. It didn’t go away in one second. I spent the whole night puking. You touched my shoulder and the fog lifted. Isn’t that crazy?” She spouted off, looking up at you for support answers.
You knew what she was looking for, and yet you couldn’t give it to her. “They’re coming up with new drugs all the time. Maybe this one clears your system crazy fast. I am really sorry this happened to you.” You replied.
“Thank you for helping me.” She replied, and as if ordained by a benevolent ruler, the taxi pulled up. You helped her into the car, wished her a good night, and saw her off before turning on a heel and marching back to that nightclub. You had a bone to pick.
-----------------------------------------------
Where the bumping music of the club before gave the area a cool, hip-hop vibe, now contributed to your fuge state fueled by rage. The male, miraculously, was stood in the same spot, tied up in conversation with another man. An accomplice perhaps, you thought. You’d figure it out as soon as you rocked this dude's shit.
Pushing passed the crowd and shoving the man he was locked in conversation with aside, in a flash you willed your magic up to protect your fist and you let loose the meanest right hook you could muster, for that woman and all the other women you were sure this scum had victimized.
Your fist collided solidly with his jaw, knocking him over and staggering him. You hit him hard enough that the bystanders around you audibly reacted. The male straightened back out, rubbing his jaw in pain. Looking down at you in what could only be described as bewilderment.
“I would say there is a special place in hell for people like you, but you would know something about that, wouldn’t you?” You spit at the male.
“So what if I do?” The male replied, voice rich and baritone. “What’s it to you?”
“There are clubs for people like you.” You replied venemously.
“And you…?” He replied, lifting an eyebrow.
“I am not here looking for prey.” You said, looked at him with a disgusting look. “Just because you can’t hack it in the supernatural clubs doesn’t mean you can just come out to the human clubs looking for easy pickings.”
“Do you condemn the wolf for breaking into the lamb pen? Or do you just understand that the wolf, too, needs to eat?”
“Ask a sheep farmer what he does to wolves in the lamb pen.”
“Is that what you are to them? The farmer? Watching over the little sheep? Or perhaps you are just a little puppy, barking at the big bad predator” He leaned in closer. “There will come a day when your pathetic little yaps won’t be enough to chase away the big bad guy, what will you do then, little puppy?”
“Get. Out.” You said through gritted teeth. “Or so help me I will put you back where you came from.” Rage, pure rage coursed through you, mixed with magic, you felt it zapping and prickling at your skin, your hair standing on edge as if the lighting was about to strike.
“Now now, no need to get so wound up.” He started pushing past you, before stopping to continue. “I was going to hurt you, for taking my dinner. But now, now I hope to meet you again very soon, little puppy.” He finished, walking out the front door, a swagger in his footsteps that made you want to blast him from behind with every bit of radiant damage you could physically muster.
“Hey.” A different male voice snapped you to the present. “You’re going to call attention to yourself. Just accept it.”
Another wave of glamor magic washed over you, a different spell though, a calming one you readily identified having used it before. You allow the stranger's magic in, the new stream slipping in, soothing your breathing, calming your heart rate, and slowing the stream of magic through your body, before exiting.
“You were about to make us all do the electric slide.” The man said with a chuckle. “Sorry, dated reference. I am kind of old.”
“Me too.” You commented, still internally reeling from the events of the last hour. “It was funny, thanks for the hand.” You turned to him, finally. The man who was keeping the incubus engaged. You were calm, but you were still warry. You regarded him more carefully now, he too was exceptionally handsome, but in a less brutalistic way than the incubus was. He was also shorter than the incubus and considerably more lithe in his frame. His baggy streetwear and half up half down hairstyle betrayed a surprisingly strong body, you were willing to bet, however. “With that being said, who the hell are you?”
“That is a complicated question with a complicated answer.” He replied. “I am sure you can relate. Shall we?” He gestured to two conveniently empty seats sitting on the corner of the bar.
“You drink cosmos, right?” He said handing you a pink cocktail. You looked at him incredulously.
“On a normal night, I don’t accept drinks that I didn’t watch David make, after all that what makes you think I’m going to accept this?”
“Oh my god, you are so right. You know what I will drink this don’t even worry about it, I’ll flag the bartender and you order whatever you want and I’ll pick it up.” He replied, pulling the drink back to him.
After a few minutes, David walked up to your end of the bar, regarding the two of you silently.
“What will it be, sir?” David asked the man.
“Whatever the lady will have.”
“Whiskey. Top Shelf.”
“Coming right up, ma’am,” David replied, pouring a glass and sliding it to you. With that, he made himself scarce.
“How do you know the incubus?” You asked the man, keeping your tone flat, disinterested in case they were buddies.
“Not at all, to be frank” He replied, sipping on his Cosmo.
“When I walked in after getting that woman home, you seemed to be engaged in lively conversation with that man.” You said, bemused. “What was it that you were discussing?”
“How we were going to hurt you.” He replied, matter-of-factly.
“And how was that?” You asked.
“Well, he was angry when you left with that woman, really angry. I had a feeling that you’d come back and I wanted you to get your revenge, so I placated him with stories of how I would help tear you limb from limb and eat your insides in front of this whole club, the usual.”
“Uh-huh.” You replied, skeptically. “And why should I believe that? Maybe the two of you are waiting to jump me as soon as I leave out that door.”
“Nah, you’d kick my ass.” He replied. “Besides, I have this.” He held up a clear, tear-drop-shaped glass pendant on a cord around his neck. Suspended in the glass were a clear liquid and a red liquid, yin and yang. “Because of this, it is impossible for me to lie.”
“Obviously you are going to have to prove it.” You replied, scoffing and sipping your whiskey.
“Easy.” He replied. “The sky is purp-” Before he could finish, red and blue light pulsed from the pendant, and the man doubled over in pain, grabbing his chest. “Pigs can fl-” and again, before the man could finish the sentence, he doubled over in pain clutching his chest.
“You could have programmed it to react that way with certain voice commands.” You replied back, still skeptical.
“Hard to convince, that’s fair enough.” He replied, shrugging. “Tell me to say something, and I will say it, scouts honor.”
“Okay…” You replied, thinking for a moment. “Tell me I’m ugly,” you said with a smirk.
“You’re ug- ak!” The same reaction as before.
“Thank you I know.” You said, flicking the hair off your shoulder. A devilish smile crept across your face as another prompt crossed your mind. “Say this one and I will believe you.”
“Anything.”
“Say I have a tiny penis.”
He looked at you incredulously, but nonetheless began “I have a tiny pe- ah! Enough please believe me this hurts!”
“Good to know~” you chuckled. “Alright George Washington, what are you doing here anyway? What are you?” You asked him.
“I am a vampire. As for what I am doing here, that question is a bit more difficult to answer.”
“Are you looking for prey? Just like that incubus?”
“What? God. No. I don’t need to look for prey thank you very much. I am very much mated.”
“Mated? But you’re hanging out in a human club?”
“Something like that.”
“Okay, start the bigger picture then if the smaller picture is hard. What is your name?”
“Jeon Jungkook. A pleasure.” He extended his hand.
“Y/N. It is steadily becoming a pleasure as well.” you shook his hand. “What brings you to this city, Jeon Jungkook?”
“I live here with my mates,” he replied. “Most of us work in the city, myself included. I sing.”
“Oh wow!” you recoiled in surprise. “What do you sing? Do you perform?”
“No, it's a little hard to be a public persona when your face is never changing, ya know? I do backup vocals and I am the voice behind a few recording artists, some big some small.” He shrugged.
“Some big?” You asked.
“I can’t really talk openly about it. I’ll tell you another time.” He added with a wink.
“Fair enough.” You replied, taking another sip of whiskey.
“I was right behind you, by the way.”
“Hm?” You replied.
“Maybe I should back up a little.” He started. “I’m here, in this human club tonight, because I was called to be. By whom or what I do not know, but I knew I needed to come in. I arrived shortly after you did, I think. You were already drinking at the bar, people-watching. I saw the magic too, and I saw what he was attempting to do to that poor woman. You and I stood up simultaneously.”
“You want a congratulations for thinking about stopping a rapist?” You scoffed at him.
“No. No, I am explaining myself poorly. I am trying to say I had your back. I wouldn’t have let him hurt you.”
“Oh. Thanks.” You said, giving him a half cheers with your glass.
“At first I thought that this is what I was called here for, to save you or to dispatch this creep, then I could fuck off home and be the hero. But then I saw how powerful you were. How readily the magic came to you, how you bent it to your will like you were folding paper. It was only then I came to understand, that I think I was called here to meet you. And I am extremely glad I was.”
You glanced at his chest and then, at the pendant hanging on his chest. The light remained dark, and when you slid your gaze up to meet his, there was an intense sincerity there that made you blush and shy away.
“I am not really sure I understand what it is exactly you are getting at.” You state looking down at the melting cubes in your whiskey.
“I think I might, but I will need you to go with me on this one.”  --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi-ya this one has been cooking in my brain for like 3 years so enjoy plz! I love your writing
Can you write about reader having a fight with the judgment day about something that happened like they were partying and some people couldn’t stop flirting with reader but they were feeling uncomfortable for example but reader was in the right but they wouldn’t believe them so that lead to a huge fight and reader feeling completely alone until someone realised they made a mistake and try to convince reader to take them back please?
thank you!

Readers POV
"You're pathetic, you know that?!" Rhea bellowed as soon as she slammed the front door shut. "You think you need to flirt with every man who gives you the slightest bit of attention! Are you that much of a whore? Huh?" Her aggression and anger were the most apparent out of the four of them.
Rhea's insults cut into me like knives. "I didn't flirt with him! I already told you that!" I defended. The Judgment Day and I had gone to a bar with some coworkers after the weekly show had ended and at some point throughout the night, the four gothic members had left my side for a few short moments. Enough time for some creep who had kept his eye on me to make a move.
*Back at the club
"Hey, beautiful! Let me buy you a drink!" The man shuffled toward me and attempted to grab my hand.
"No, thanks. I'm not interested." I tried to keep my voice blunt and void of emotions in hopes of turning the man away. As I took my eyes off of him to search for my partners in the crowd, his hands gripped my waist and pulled me into him. "Get off me!" My hands pushed at his chest until he released me.
"Relax, babe. I'm just having some fun!" He gave me a gross smile and ran his hand down my arm. I shoved his hand away and scanned the crowd in a panic. The four of them weren't hard to miss. Where could they be? "C'mon! Let's go dance!" The man forcefully grabbed me and pulled me along with him to the dance floor. He turned me around and tightly held my hips against him, preventing me from pushing away. As I worked on slapping his hands off of me, I noticed a tense energy surround us. I looked up to see the four members of the Judgment Day fuming with anger.
Damian shoved the man away from me while Rhea grabbed hold of my wrist and dragged me out to the car. The car ride back to the house was insanely tense and silent.
*Back at the house
"Bullshit! You weren't even doing anything about it! You just let him put his hands all over you!" Rhea shouted back.
"That's not true! Guys? You saw me trying to get away, right?!" I attempted to get backup from the boys, but to no avail, they looked equally unhappy.
Damian threw his keys and wallet down on a side table before looking over at me with a glare. "Don't try and act dumb. We all saw what you were doing." His tone gave it away that he wasn't on my side.
"But I wasn't doing anything! I was trying to get him off of me!" I was exasperated at this point.
"We won't tolerate lying, and we definitely won't tolerate cheating. Either admit what you were up to and explain yourself, or find somewhere else to stay tonight." Finn sighed in disappointment and crossed his arms, waiting for my response.
My jaw dropped at his ultimatum. "What? You can't be serious-"
"Dead serious. You heard the man. Make your choice." Rhea cut me off and seeped her words with poison. I looked at them all, trying to determine if they were being literal. They definitely were. I shook my head in frustration, snatched up my bag, and stormed out the front door. I don't know if Liv is back from the club yet, but I'll wait on her front porch until she is...
Liv had actually gotten home only five minutes before I arrived at her place, and she immediately brought me inside and had me tell her all about the drama that just ensued. To say she was angry was an understatement. She was completely dumbfounded at how they had treated me.
The feisty blonde sent a lengthy text message to the group members about how they were in the wrong, I would never do something like this, how blessed they are to have me, and then followed up with some threats if they didn't apologize. She insisted we have a fun sleepover to forget the fight, and I couldn't say no.
***next morning
A harsh pounding on the front door woke the both of us up and Liv hurried to go see who it was. I heard her mumbling before she quickly came back to me. "They're here." She gave me a look of reassurance and allowed me room to walk past her.
I took a deep breath before opening the front door.
"Hey. We need to talk." Rhea demanded and motioned for me to step outside. I obliged, closing the door behind me. She sighed and raked a hand through her dark hair. "Tell us the truth. Were you flirting with that guy?" She asked, her face wore an expectant expression.
"No! I told you guys that last night, but you didn't believe me!" I was quickly becoming defensive, ready to pick up the argument where it had left off.
"We believe you, honey. Liv sent us a long message and helped clear everything up." Damian stepped in. "We're sorry. You tried to tell us and we wouldn't listen to you. It's our fault." He apologized.
I took a moment to think to myself, contemplating how easily my forgiveness should be handed out. I mean, they kicked me out of the house without even letting me explain.
"So," Finn interrupted my thoughts. "Are we forgiven, love? You ready to come home?"
I let out a huff. "I'm not happy about the situation and how I was treated last night, but I'm content for now. I can't forgive you all so easily right now. My feelings are hurt and I don't really feel like everything's okay yet. I just think we still need to talk about it a bit more when we get home?" I looked around to gauge their expressions.
"Sounds fair to me." Dom smiled.
I grabbed my stuff from inside Liv's house and headed to the car. While Damian loaded my bag into the trunk, Rhea gazed at me in the rearview mirror.
"Baby..." Her eyes flicked away, instead turning her body to face me. "Are we gonna be okay?" She motioned between us and then to the boys outside of the car.
I nodded with a small smile. "We'll be okay, Mami. Promise." Seeing relief flash in her eyes, I quickly kissed her cheek. "Everything will be perfectly okay."

UNKNOWN HOLY NIGHT AND NIGHTHEAD - WHITE CAROL 1
Tumblr media
( The next day )
Rinne: Achoo!
Ah… So when your body’s cold, your wallet will be too[1]…
I shoulda stopped at my first win. If I’d just stopped pushing there, I’d be a lot richer and happier right about now~...
Tumblr media
Niki: ♪ ( Eating sweets excitedly )
Rinne: Hey. You look too happy. Don’t get too excited over that big win of yours, ‘kay?
Niki: Ah. Just ‘cause you lost doesn’t mean you can take it out on me, Rinne-kun!
I mean, Rinne-kun’s the reason I came here in the first place. Despite your cruel remarks, I gave in and went out with you, ya know?
Rinne: Ah, jeez~. Why’d Niki get such a victory while I’m left broke? No matter how I look at it, that feels wrong…
Niki: Well there’s no helping that, ‘cause it’s just the way things are, isn’t it?
I did it just like Rinne-kun told me, I aimed for the hole in the middle… Wasn’t that the point, to aim right there?
‘Cause then, before I knew it, a bunch of balls came out.
Tumblr media
Rinne: Tch! That’s just beginner’s luck.
Ah, I’m so depressed. I give so much to them…
Why’re they being kinder to some amateur first-timer than me, a regular customer… They’ve got an obligation to treat me well, don’t they?
Niki: … Mogumogu. Of course Rinne-kun would be looking for kindness and fairness from a pachinko parlor. I wonder if this is the rumored sensor of material desire I heard about?
Rinne: … Don’t look so pleased eating those sweets you won, c’mon. And they’re only a fraction of your winnings…
Hey, since I’m the one who invited you out here, those are rightfully mine too. Share them with me!
Niki: Eh?! That’s ridiculous, what kinda argument is that?! … Ah, you’ve seriously taken them already?!
Rinne: Mogumogu… I’m really depressed, so can’t ya be nicer to me?
Look around, everyone around seems happy and probably luckier than me, to boot. Am I the only unhappy person in the whole world? Ah… The world truly is cruel and dark.
Niki: Ah, well~. Don’t start being annoying to everyone around just ‘cause you’re bad at pachinko, ‘kay?
Look, look. I want you to really look around. There’s Christmas decorations all over the place. Even the sweets I got at the pachinko parlor were Christmas themed, see?
So, what do you think? Aren’t you getting excited too?
Tumblr media
Rinne: … Ah? Come to think of it, I guess it’s true everything’s all decorated for Christmas… Isn’t it kinda early for that, though? It’s only November.
Niki: Eh? It’s just like this everywhere lately, though. Even Cinnamon’s already taking reservations for Christmas cakes.
Rinne: Hm. So it’s Christmas…
Niki: That’s a pretty underwhelming response~. You were really excited for the Halloween event[2].
Rinne: That’s ‘cause as the leader, if I don’t keep things lively, our morale as a unit’s not gonna go up either. Besides, if I’m gonna do something as an idol, I’ll definitely make the most of it and enjoy it to the fullest.
Niki: Right, Rinne-kun’s just like that, huh~?
He pretends to be a pretty lively kinda guy, but he’s surprisingly level-headed and thoughtful. It’s been that way since he started crashing at my apartment…
Tumblr media
Rinne: But everyone’s like that. As long as I’m doing this kinda work, I’ve gotta control myself and be conscious of my energy.
Besides, as long as I’m with Niki, there’s no need to force myself to act excited.
Niki: That’s true. So then, is Rinne-kun really not interested in Christmas at all?
Rinne: Eh. It’s not really like that…
I don’t mind if we do a live for it or something. It’s just a holiday that never made it into my hometown.
Ever since joining the idol industry, I’ve been given year-end schedules that don’t gimme time to enjoy Christmas. Besides, to be honest, I don’t have any memory of enjoying it either.
If you go to a pachinko place on that day, you can give it your all and still go home just as sad and lonely as you could otherwise.
All the red and green decorations inside the stores and along the way home… They’re excessive, they make me feel emptier.
The only good memories of Christmas I’ve got are Niki making delicious meals while we lived together… D’you remember that?
Tumblr media
Niki: Ah, now that you mention it… That did happen, didn’t it~?
Rinne: Well, that’s good. Kids really should have fun and enjoy Christmas.
Right, it’s fine if kids are excited, enjoying themselves and bouncing around. But for adults, it’s just the same as any other weekday.
Niki: Eh~? Rinne-kun, are you for real? I don’t think that’s the case, though.
After all, it’s Christmas, right?
Tumblr media
Niki: Turkey and roast beef and beef stew! Ginger cookies, candy canes, bûche de Noël[3], and the classic strawberry Christmas cake! ☆
It’s a dream-like kinda day for me, ‘cause I get to eat delicious food all day, y’know?! I wish Jesus Christ was born every day!
Rinne: … Didn’t you say something like that about Halloween, too? I guess you’d be happy with any event tied to food.
Niki: Well, simply put, yeah.
Rinne: … Huh? Ah, shit!
Niki: Eh? What’s wrong? You’re looking pretty alarmed at that clock…
Rinne: I’ve got a meeting for work right about… Now.
Tumblr media
Niki: Huh?! Rinne-kun, you seriously came to play pachinko even though you had work?! I thought today was a day off for you?!
Rinne: Damn, I overstayed… Anzu-chan said “Absolutely don’t be late!” but, well… I am late, shit.
I wonder if I’ll make it if I run. ES is pretty far, though…
Sigh. It’s gonna be a pain either way~. Anyway, I’m heading off now, so it doesn’t matter!
Niki: Well, it’s a good chance for some exercise, right? Good luck, Rinne-kun!
Rinne: Hm? Why’re you talking like you’re not involved too, Niki. You’re comin’ too, y’know. Rinne-kun will be lo~nely otherwise!
Tumblr media

dirty little secret.
Tumblr media
NOT MY GIF!
summary: a babysitting gig at one of your dad's employee's houses leads to a filthy affair of secrets with a certain mr. harrington.
a/n: i have not proofread this one bit, i just wanted to get it posted so i could start on some ghostface!steddie hehe. i suppose this is another installment of the older!steve/mr.harrington saga though in my head they're different people.
he's a scummy scumbag but that's okay because it's sexy (don’t do this irl) smut and inappropriate relationship dynamics. r is 23/24 and steve is mid 40's ish.
it had all started fairly innocently.
a simple phone call asking if you could do some last minute babysitting. sure. easy enough.
earn some extra cash for doing absolutely nothing.
your dad had recommended you. someone who worked for him, steve or something or other, you’d met him before but that was years ago when you were much younger.
christ, you had a degree now. navigating the post-grad world. not with much luck.
the actual babysitting had been simple enough, feed the kids, put them to bed and now you could just relax.
the house was huge. obviously not decorated by a man, or at least not on his own. it was all meticulously designed, you’d never know there were kids living here. or anybody at all for that sake.
you’re lounging on the sparkling white couch waiting for this illusive steve to get back from wherever. your dad had said eleven but it was well past.
he makes an appearance at quarter to twelve, sighing loudly as he steps into the large hallway. the door makes you jump, sitting up straight on the sofa as if it were illegal to be sitting comfortably on such an expensive piece of furniture.
you peer over the back of the couch as he walks into the living room. finally putting a face to the name. you’d gone to his wedding reception so many years back, unhappy and moody as you’d been dragged along.
‘i am so sorry,’ he says, shaking his head and removing the tailored suit jacket, slinging it over a chair, ‘the dinner ran over and then it was just awful traffic.. how were they? i hope they didn’t give you too much shit,’ chuckling deeply.
‘no.. no, they were great,’ you nod, smiling weakly, standing up to gather your things and finally leave.
you couldn’t help but notice how tight his shirt was, clinging onto his defined arms. you draw your eyes away quickly, slinging your bag over your shoulder.
‘good,’ he breathes, pouring himself a glass of whisky out of the obviously insanely expensive bottle, ‘d’you drink?’ offering a glass to you.
‘uhh.. not whisky,’ laughing quietly, still standing awkwardly in the middle of the obscenely large room.
‘it’s good stuff,’ he shrugs, still holding the second glass to you.
‘i’m okay.. thank you though,’ you nod, stepping closer to him. he smelled great. expensive.
‘fair enough,’ he laughs, taking a short sip, ‘right.. you wanna be paid,’ digging around his pocket for his wallet.
his pants also incredibly well fitted. there’s no need to mention what they were showcasing.
you give him a tight lipped smile, looking anywhere but his crotch.
his wallet is almost overflowing, stuffed with notes and various cards. you try not to gawp at the sight. your dad most definitely did not flex like this.
he hands you four fifty dollar bills, holding the pile in your palm. fingers clasping your hand. the sensation alone is enough to give you butterflies.
‘that’s too much,’ you shake your head, trying to refuse. a whole two hundred dollars to make mac and cheese and watch television.
‘no no, take it, thank you for coming so last minute, have you got a ride home? i can get you a cab?’ he nods, maintaining heavy eye contact, honestly making you squirm.
‘i drove.. thank you so much,’ placing the notes into your bag, still under his heavy gaze.
‘okay,’ he smiles, ‘i’ll uh- i’ll get your number from your dad for next time.. if you don’t mind?’
‘uhh..yeah sure.’
‘great.. thank you, again,’ his hand brushes against your arm, causing the goosebumps to rise instantly.
you give him one last shy smile and walk to the oversized front door. baffled by the things you were feeling. the small yearning feeling bubbling in your stomach. a man god knows how many years your senior. it felt wrong.
dirty.
-
the next time you babysit for him, he’s prepared. a bottle of fancy vodka left next to the whisky.
‘you’re a vodka girl, right? i can tell,’ he winks, a deep laugh erupting from his throat as he pours the clear liquid into a glass.
‘ahh.. how’d you know?’ you smile, not wanting to refuse the man, especially as he’d gone out of his way to get this for you.
he taps his temple, holding the drink out to you, ‘intuition..’
the conversation flows on, telling him about your degree and where you planned to go with it. him humbly flexing his own work, talking about the various connections he could make for you.
‘i know you’re robert’s daughter but i just.. i feel like i’ve seen you before,’ his eyebrows squeeze together, knee almost touching yours as his legs spread across the sofa.
‘i uh- i actually went to your wedding, the reception at least,’ you laugh, still heavily avoiding eye contact even though you could feel his eyes boring into your face.
‘oh my god, that’s right.. you were miserable,’ his laughter rumbles through the room, if the house weren’t so big you’d be worried about it waking the kids. not a chance they could hear a thing in this mansion.
‘i was.. i didn’t know you! my dad made us go,’ you giggle, just about meeting his dark eyes before quickly glancing down at his hand grasping the glass, noticing the lack of wedding ring.
he notices, rubbing the empty finger, ‘no,’ chuckling, ‘we’re not.. if you were wondering,’ you can’t tell if it’s a smirk or just his slightly tipsy smile.
‘sorry,’ you breathe, awkward that he’d noticed your attempt at subtlety.
‘don’t be.. we’re still married for now, but we’re not together,’ he nods, seemingly unaffected by the separation.
‘oh.. right,’ you chuckle, unsure of how you’d ended up discussing his divorce at midnight on a friday night. it wasn’t exactly anywhere near where you’d pictured yourself being after graduation.
‘d’you have a boyfriend?’ he asks, shifting slightly to face more towards you, still nursing the neat whisky.
you shake your head, ‘no.. not at the moment,’ staring just past him as to not make direct eye contact.
‘oh, i thought for sure someone would’ve snatched you up,’ his gaze falters, lingering on your exposed thigh, your skirt had slightly ridden up as you’d sat.
‘surprisingly not,’ weary as to whether you should pull your skirt down or let his eyes loiter. opting for the latter.
the attention was nice. unexpected. but not unappreciated. it made your stomach tight, slightly intimidated by his dark eyes.
‘hmm, that’s a shame,’ his tongue runs along his bottom lip, eyes slowly making their way up to meet yours.
you don’t know what to do. where to leave your eyes. his intense stare only worsening your composure. you’d have probably thrown yourself at him if he didn’t answer to your dad. complicating matters immensely.
‘you want another drink?’ he asks, leaning closer, shaking his own empty glass.
‘no.. thank you,’ the words struggle to come out, throat dry at the proximity of his body to yours. the smell of whisky and his cologne mixing to create an intoxicating smell.
‘sure?’ he reiterates, smirking as his eyes fall to your parted lips. mostly trying to regain air into your lungs.
your breath hitches in your throat, suddenly unable to speak, watching as he slowly moves over. cocky smile plastered across his face, relishing in your spreading blush.
he brings his face to within just a few inches of yours, pausing, ‘tell me if this is too much,’ the feel of his breath against your nose.
you shake your head slightly, almost paralysed by his eyes. it was confirmation enough for steve. his lips brushing yours softly, as his free hand moves to rest just above your knee.
your lips move with his, tasting the remnants of the expensive alcohol as his tongue glides across your bottom lip and into your mouth. a quiet gasp comes out as his fingers slide up your leg, his smirk evident against your mouth.
letting him take full control of the kiss, leaning back as his chest presses against yours. he takes full advantage of your new position, fingers creeping up your already short skirt.
you move back fully, back against the soft cushions. he doesn’t break the kiss as he moves on top, sliding between your now open legs, groaning into your mouth when your hands finally touch him.
resting on his shoulders as he manoeuvres his body, fitting perfectly with yours. he pulls back from the kiss, taking a brief moment to catch his breath, looking into your eyes for encouragement.
you haven’t enough time to process anything before his hips begin to move against yours, lips now attacking your jaw line. peppering kisses and gentle nibbles to the skin, eliciting a barely audible moan from your throat.
his hand had found it’s way to your panties, fingers rubbing against the cotton, ‘holy shit,’ he mumbles into your neck, ‘you’re already soaked.’
you recoil, burying your face into the pillow next to your head. this only makes him laugh, his body vibrating against yours as your panties are pushed aside, two fingers circling your entrance before slipping inside.
‘shit,’ you curse into the pillow, gripping onto his shirt.
his other hand comes up, coaxing your face out of the pillow with a gentle hand. when you finally emerge you can feel your cheeks heat up, his blown out pupils gazing back at you.
‘look at me,’ his voice bellows out, ensuring your attention stays firmly on him. you almost want to look away, just to see what he’d do.
there’s a small voice from somewhere up the stairs, ‘daddy,’ it whines and steve groans above you.
‘shit.. two minutes,’ he curses, removing his hand from underneath your skirt, climbing off of the couch.
you’re immediately jolted back to earth. back to mr. harrington’s living room where you were immodestly dressed. you sit up, face screwed up in disgust at your frankly whorish actions and pull your skirt down to an appropriate length.
‘fuck,’ you hiss to yourself, what the hell where you doing? screwing around with your dad’s employee who by the way, was at least double your age, was not on your cards.
you stand, frantic to gather your things and escape before he comes back down. you’d just ignore him if he called again. you could cut the loss on whatever you were owed for tonight.
you’re halfway down the long corridor when he creeps down the stairs, ‘sneaking out?’ his voice appears from behind, making you jump halfway out of your skin.
spinning on your heel to face him, every part of your body heating up with embarrassment, ‘i should get home..’
‘you don’t have to.. stay,’ he grins, walking towards you, one hand brushing against your arm.
you swallow, knowing exactly where that hand had been just minutes earlier. the feel of his bulge moving against your thigh. you almost shudder at the thought.
‘i shouldn’t..’ you manage to squeak out, mind preoccupied by what was hidden under those tight-fitted suit pants.
‘it’s late, i’m sure your dad wouldn’t want you driving at this time,’ he bargains, fingers squeezing around your arm.
‘okay,’ you breathe, relinquishing your stance, it seems it didn’t take much.
‘good,’ he nods, a smug expression overtakes his features, ‘give me two minutes,’ letting go of your arm and walking back into the dimly living room.
you stand awkwardly in the hallway, clutching your small bag and waiting for him to return from whatever the fuck he was doing. it was honestly made worse with the anticipation of what was to come. it was inevitable.
the light snaps off and he re-emerges, clutching onto a small glass of whiskey, motioning for you to climb the stairs.
you oblige as he follows closely, spare hand reaching up to rest on the small of your back.
‘ah.. i don’t think the guest bedroom has been cleaned.. i can make up the bed for you quickly if you want?’ he hushes, hand dropping to hover just above your ass.
you roll your eyes instinctively, it would seem men never grow out of the awful frat-boy tactics. he feigns shock for a brief moment before guiding you further up the hallway, towards his own room.
you hold your breath, entering the room. a large bed with silk covers takes up most of the room. he closes the door softly behind him, flicking on the lamp and setting his drink on the bedside table.
you marvel at the room, the extravagance of it all. it honestly could’ve passed as a five star hotel. he walks back over to you, running his hands around your rigid frame. unexpected overcome with nerves.
‘relax,’ he breathes, nudging his face into your neck, pressing amorous kisses down onto your exposed collarbone.
a small sigh leaving your mouth, which steve loves. taking it as a sign to continue, walking you over to the bed, hands groping any flesh they could.
your skirt flipped up over your ass as he continues the attack on your neck. your hands finally settling on his muscular shoulders, clinging on to his white shirt as you're dipped back onto the bed, his body climbing on top of yours.
'wow,' he mumbles, muffled by the crook of your neck, hands roaming the length of your body, 'so pretty.'
his large palm glides up, lifting your shirt with it, the cold air immediately leaving goosebumps over the exposed skin. only worsened by his soft fingertips trailing along behind your shirt, breaking apart long enough to pull it over your head.
your mouth falling open when his lips find their way to your neck once again, sucking on the tender skin. your fingers absentmindedly unbuttoning his shirt, defined shoulders peeking out as you gently tug it down his arms.
moving down to rid him of his pants, not ignoring how big he already felt under your palm, wondering if you'd even be able to take him all.
'y'sure about this?' he asks into your neck, fumbling with your panties as your hand tries and fails to undo his belt buckle.
you nod, cheek brushing against his mess of hair still buried in your neck. he reappears, gazing down at you as your fingers continue to fumble with the expensive, over-complicated belt.
you finally unclasp the metal, gasping as his cold hands brush against your thighs, fingers finding their way to your sensitive clit, circling around, causing a hushed moan. terribly aware that his children were not too far from you.
‘j-jesus,’ you mumble, sliding down his tailored trousers and rutting your hips against his, feeling his already very erect cock against your centre.
he’s still staring down at you, inches away from your face, unable to decipher the look on his face, a mix between animalistic desire and lust.
your legs lock around his torso and he wastes no time in aligning himself with your entrance, only breaking eye contact to look down at the space between your bodies before sliding in, a raspy moan vibrating from his throat.
hand sliding from the back of his already moist neck, down onto his shoulders, his shirt half-off as he thrusts in and out, pressing his forehead against yours. it feels incredibly intimate, his hot breath brushing against your cheek, the sounds of his balls slapping against your drenched cunt.
your head falls back onto the pillow, hair splayed out around you, rhythmically slamming into you. eyes fluttering closed when his thumb finds your sensitive clit once more. he grins when your hips buck against his in instant approval.
'yeah? y'like that?' he breathes, slowing his pace as you clench around him, nearing your climax. you can't open your eyes to look at him, the immense feeling of pleasure growing in your lower abdomen.
his gruff groans only accelerating your orgasm, 'sh-shit,' you babble, digging your nails into his skin as you reach your peak, waves of hot pleasure running through your body, thighs squeezing his torso, pulling him deeper as you writhe against him.
a series of expletives tumble from your lips, loosening your grip on his skin as he continues thrusting into your now sensitive cunt. the sound of your sweet moans pushing steve to his own orgasm, hips stuttering with his final few strokes before pulling out, painting your thighs with his load.
his mouth hangs open as he catches his breath, running a hand through his damp hair, watching as you come back down to earth. you brave opening your eyes, catching his amorous stare, a small smile overtaking his face.
you're unsure of how to feel, slightly embarrassed, still laid bare on the cotton bedsheets, scrambling to cover yourself as he reaches for a previously discarded towel. cleaning the mess he had made on your skin.
'well.. i'm glad you didn't sneak out,' he simpers, removing collapsing onto the bed beside you, fully removing the half-undone shirt from his body.
'me too,' you attempt to contain the smile on your face with the pillow, though it doesn't really work, exposing your smugness.
he sits up slightly, peering over you to the alarm clock on the bedside table, 'it's late, y'should probably just stay here.. just say i got back super late,' falling back onto the mattress.
you nod, not wanting to defy his suggestion. not that you wanted to leave anyway, fairly happy to stay right here with him.
steve pulls the satiny covers fully over the both of you, turning on his side to face you. dimly lit by the definitely overpriced lamp in the corner of the room. his hand comes up to your waist, pulling your body into his.
you're clueless as to how this had all transpired. now in what was technically your bosses bed, falling asleep in the older man's arms with no idea how you'd explain this to your dad in the morning.
-
steve's lips wake you in the morning, his stubble brushing against your shoulder as you blink, remembering where the hell you were.
you hadn't woken when he'd got up earlier to get his kids ready for school, probably for the best. not wanting to answer questions as to why their new babysitter was still here in the morning, dressed in their dad's shirt.
'good morning,' he breathes, nose nuzzled into the back of your neck, strong arms snaking around your waist.
'hi,' you respond, slowly coming to, relaxing into his embrace.
'nancy's taken the kids to school.. we've got a little time before i've gotta work,' you can feel his smirk, wandering hands already finding themselves between your thighs.
'your ex-wife was here?' sounding slightly panicked, knowing deep down that whatever had happened last night would land the both of you in serious trouble.
steve picks up on your worry, planting a wet kiss to your shoulder, 'don't worry.. she just picks them up, we're good,' reassuring you only slightly.
before you can dwell on the thought too much, his erection presses against your ass, eliciting a sharp gasp from your throat. you giggle, moving your leg to allow further access.
not quite sure what exactly was going on but absolutely elated to be involved.
-
your dad always had an extravagant party for his birthday. like, unnecessarily big with far too much money poured into it. you’d had to miss the last few years as his birthday fell in finals week.
the last time you remember going was when you were seventeen, you’d sat in the corner for the entire night watching as everyone danced and got drunk. wishing you could’ve been literally anywhere else in the moment.
this year, you’d have to go and deal with the fact steve was also there. in his best suit with those sickly fitting pants, hair perfectly styled and smelling like that intoxicating cologne you loved.
and you’d have to do it all without giving any inclination as to what was going on between you. it was about to be the hardest night of your life.
steve had even helped you pick out your dress. obviously opting for the most revealing option, trying to play it off as just liking you in black. you’d sworn there was a teenage boy alive inside of that man.
the last few weeks had been spent with him, mostly under the guise of babysitting. spending days at a time in his glorious house, waiting for nancy to collect the kids so you could leave his room. indulging in luxurious breakfasts, sharing clothes and enough sex to keep you satisfied for life.
not without plenty of gifts, hand-crafted pieces of jewelry and god knows how many bright bouquets of flowers now littered around your room. even adorning the beautiful diamond necklace you'd received last week, tonight.
your sister had questioned the sudden abundance of gifts but you'd carefully brushed her off, putting it down to some new guy you'd been seeing, she wouldn't know him.
the start of the party was absolutely fine. sipping on some rather expensive white wine, listening to your father go on and on about his life, never missing an opportunity to talk about you and your sister.
it was inevitable that at some point you would have to speak to steve. especially as you were his new babysitter and seemed to be over there a hell of a lot, working.
‘she’s great, isn’t she?’ your dad boasts, standing between you and steve.
your eyes meet his, a sight you’d actually missed all night. taking your bottom lip between your teeth, a small knowing smile on your lips.
‘yeah, absolutely.. i’d be lost without her,’ steve grins, nudging your dads arm. his eyes don’t leave yours, blood rushing to your cheeks, playing it off as just being bashful at all of the attention.
‘you’re over there enough, i’m surprised you let her have the night off,’ your dad laughs, slinging his arm around your shoulder and rubbing your arm.
‘ahh of course, she can have anything she wants,’ he clears his throat, continuing to make heavy eye contact, ‘she’s such a big help y’know?’
‘too right,’ your dad laughs, clinking his glass against steve’s.
you want to get the fuck out of there, unsure if you had the strength to not fucking pounce on steve the second your dad looked away.
the chat goes on for a little while, switching topics to unimaginably boring topics like whatever it was they did for work. steve had attempted to explain it to you, not that it was much help.
the small group disperses into their own groups and you’re left stood opposite steve, clutching onto your wine glass trying your damn hardest not to let your eyes falter to his package.
he leans in, whispering into your ear, ‘come and find me in five minutes.. there’s an empty meeting room down the hall, you’ll know which one,’ before pulling away, you suspect to go to said room.
you almost don’t want to. let him sit there waiting on his own as revenge for the flirtatious words he’d spoken about you to your dad. you don’t. obviously.
there was not a chance you could leave him be, especially not with the way he looked tonight.
besides, it was kinda fun. risky. there wasn’t much risk involved when you were at his house. other than dodging nancy in the mornings and hoping praying that the kids wouldn’t walk in in the middle of the night.
you give a quick look around, patting the older woman on the arm as you break away from the conversation you were only half-included in. trying not to trip over your feet as you exit, trying to find this meeting room.
there’s a row of almost identical doors and you want to curse him out when the last door in the corridor is adorned with a large, silver 69 nailed to the wood.
you open the door slowly, edging your way into the room when you’re pulled into the darkness. large hands grabbing at your waist holding your body against his chest.
‘oh my god,’ you say, almost too loudly, holding yourself steady as you grip onto his shirt sleeves.
‘shh..’ he hushes, you can just about make out his features from the small amount of light being let into the room. half of his face engulfed in the shadows.
‘you’re a child,’ you smirk, slightly tipsy and very much desperate for his touch.
‘i knew you’d find it,’ he chuckles, fingers digging into the fat around your waist, eager to feel the skin beneath your dress.
‘you’re not fu-,’ you’re interrupted by his lips crashing against yours, trying to pull you even closer. he’d mesh your skin with his if he could.
your hands move to cup his face, palms running against the stubble on his cheeks. jesus christ he could have you right here. you wouldn’t even care at this point.
his fingers inch your already short dress up, riding to the top of your thighs. you slip your tongue into his mouth, the one tiny bit of dominance you had in this situation.
a low groan rumbles into your mouth as one hand glides down his torso, stopping just above his belt. he manoeuvres both of you backwards, crashing into a rogue desk, fingertips surely leaving bruises as they clutch onto you.
‘we can’t,’ he mumbles, lips resting on the side of your mouth, leaving small, wet kisses as your fingers work on undoing his belt buckle.
‘we can,’ you nod frantically, aching to feel him inside of you.
the metal clanks together as you get it unbuckled, sliding a hand into his pants, palming above his boxers at his growing cock as he grunts into your mouth. falling apart at your touch.
the hallway light flickers on fully, footsteps leading up the corridor, stopping just before the room you were in. you pull your head back, eyes wide, just about seeing his worried expression.
‘well we’re about to do the cake, where is she?’ the voice you now recognise as your sister’s echoes in the hallway.
hand still comfortably dipped into his trousers as your head snaps to the door, making desperate pleas to god and anyone else above that she’d turn back around.
‘shit..’ he whispers, pulling your hand from his boxers by your wrist, distressed as your sister walks further up the hallway and back down.
you’re confident she’s back in the main hall as you exhale, relief washing over you, ‘oh my god,’ you giggle slightly, it was pretty funny now the immediate threat had gone.
steve does not share the amusement, his face straight as zips his pants back up, pulling away from you. you screw up your face in confusion, yanking your dress back down to an appropriate length.
‘jesus fucking christ,’ he huffs, tucking his shirt back in.
‘oh c’mon.. it’s fine, she doesn’t know.. no one knows,’ you frown, placing a hand on his arm in an attempt to reassure him.
‘this was a stupid idea,’ jerking his arm away.
‘this was your idea,’ utterly dumbfounded by his attitude, nothing bad had happened so was the annoyance really necessary?
‘i know that- look, you should get back out there,’ he shoos you off to the door.
‘why are you being so weird? it’s fine,’ you breathe, now slightly offended that he was being so mean.
‘go.. they’re looking for you,’ patting your back, ‘i’ll slip out in a minute.’
one of the downsides to an older man definitely included his lack of a sense of humour. you didn’t appreciate having to explain simple jokes or why you found something funny. it was as if he felt the need to be serious about everything.
you shake your head as you slip out of the door, making sure the hallway was empty. there’s a lump in your throat. he still clearly thought of you as a child. someone that needed to be told what to do.
steve doesn’t make eye contact with you for the rest of the night. carefully averting his eyes when you’d try desperately to garner his attention. you don’t even notice him slip out of the door, deserting your plans to go over when the party had ended.
it all felt terribly embarrassing. not that you’d even done anything wrong. it was his idea to go to the room. nothing had even happened, your sister still had no idea anything was even happening between you.
you call him when you’re eventually home and sure everyone else was asleep. sitting cross-legged on your bed, the phone pulled over and resting on your lap.
‘hello?’ he speaks groggily into the phone. you’re shocked he’d even answered.
‘oh hello, d’you remember me?’ you reply, still slightly tipsy and now sharing the anger he’d obviously felt earlier.
he sighs and you can hear him sit up, bedsheets rustling in the back, ‘i’m sorry.. it was just- that was too close.. i can’t lose my job, you know that.’
‘nothing even happened, steve! you’re not gonna lose your fucking job,’ you snap, gripping onto the plastic receiver.
‘i know.. i just have to be careful- we have to be careful,’ once again trying to spin it as if you’d been the one to drag him into the damned room.
‘we are,’ you swallow, vision blurred as the lump in your throat reappears, ‘i know you’re scared but you don’t have to take it out on me.’
he exhales, ‘okay, i’m sorry,’ sounding only slightly remorseful.
‘i wanna see you,’ you sniff, wiping your face with the sleeve of your shirt, ‘can i come over?’
‘it’s late,’ he notes, you can hear the sheets rustle again and the soft padding of his feet as he gets up.
‘that doesn’t answer my question,’ deepening your frown, picking at a loose thread on your shorts.
you can still hear him doing whatever the fuck he was doing in the background, ‘i’ll be there in fifteen.. round the back.’
your frown immediately disappears, ‘okay,’ putting the phone down and jumping from your bed, getting your stuff ready to go.
you’re there waiting for him around the back of your house, an empty dimly lit road. you practically ran to his car when his headlights turned the corner.
sliding into the seat, slightly damp from the rain that’d started, he looks over quickly before speeding off. not giving anyone the chance to spot you.
there’s a small silence before you speak up, ‘i’m sorry,’ apologising for seemingly nothing. it didn’t matter, really. as long as he wasn’t mad anymore.
his hand comes over, resting on your knee, ‘we just have to be careful.. i wasn’t really angry.’
‘i know,’ you nod, though you didn’t. he seemed angry enough. enough to outwardly upset you.
you swallow any feelings of dejection. he'd apologised after all. what was the issue?
-
steve had been awfully quiet. suddenly not requiring your services as often. being overly cautious about your relationship, calling every few days and only inviting you over when the kids were with nancy.
you’re not afraid to bring it up when you do eventually go over. he was faffing about with some paperwork, glasses perched on the bridge of his nose as you sit and watch.
‘why are you being so off with me?’ you speak up, curling your feet up underneath you.
‘hmm?’ he hums, barely lifting his head to acknowledge the fact you’d just spoken to him.
you huff, ‘you’re not even listening,’ crossing your arms over your chest.
‘i am,’ he slowly tears his eyes from the paper, looking over at you, ‘what’d you say?’
‘i said, why are you being weird with me?’
‘what?’ shaking his head, looking back at the numbers on the sheet.
you want to scream. tear the piece of paper into tiny shreds and sprinkle them across the living room.
‘you don’t call me, you don’t want to see me.. i don’t understand what i’ve done,’ you frown, shifting your position to face him fully.
he sighs, long and exaggerated, ‘that’s not true, nancy’s had the kids more.. i just haven’t needed you here as much,’ shrugging you off.
‘oh, so now i’m only your babysitter? you only need me here to fuck, is that it?’
‘you’re twisting my words,’ he finally puts the paper down completely, taking his glasses off and placing them on top of the pile.
‘so what am i? your babysitter or your girlfriend? i’m getting confused,’ sarcastic as you were losing your temper. he was great at evading the question at hand.
he blinks, ‘i’m not gonna argue with you, if that’s what you’re looking for,’ rubbing his temples.
‘answer the question.’
he’d never explicitly called you his girlfriend. you’d just sort of assumed that your relationship had gone past secret hookups. what with all the time spent together, the long hours spent chatting and the occasional, far-too-expensive gifts he’d gotten you.
‘you’re my.. i don’t know, my girlfriend?’ he’s so nonchalant with it all. only pissing you off further.
it was blatantly obvious just why his previous marriage hadn’t worked out.
‘do you want that?’ you ask earnestly, narrowing your eyes at him.
‘well not when you’re like this.’
it must’ve been a skill of his, to make you feel so crazy. so guilty for just wanting some clarification on your relationship.
you’re left speechless, opening your mouth to reply but nothing coming out. you look down, trying not to let him see your tears.
‘you know how i feel about you,’ he sighs, caressing your cheek, running his thumb over the blushed skin.
you nod under his grasp, squeezing your eyes to stop them from leaking.
‘yeah? you gonna stop being silly?’ he says softly, moving in closer. your eyes meet his, watering as a rogue tear slips out and rolls onto his hand.
you felt like a petulant child. like you’d just been told off and needed to be comforted. except, you only wanted to be comforted by him. his touch being the only thing to settle you.
you’d do anything to keep that. even if it meant biting your tongue and being ignored a few times a week.
he smiles when you place your hand above his, leaning into his touch. accepting that to have this, you had to take whatever he would give you.

Hi Chronivac or Suitcase people! I'm looking for a change in my life like working with my body rather than with my brain, living in the north rather than in the south, being poor but happy rather than wealthy and unhappy, being a player rather than the relationship-guy and so on. I hope for your help
Dude, seriously, if you're going to do it, do it! Why only half the cake? Why not work with your awesome body, live on the beach in the south, be rich and happy and take everything that comes along? Somehow that sounds much better… At least for me… I have another suitcase for you, labeled MVD. Filled with everything you need for a basic jet-set influencer beach vacation. Beachwear from Vilebrequin, sportswear from Balenciaga, a little something for the evening from Prada and co. And a hotel voucher for The Grand Hotel in Punta del Este. Just for the weekend. After that, it's off to Buenos Aires for you and then you'll have to see…
Shit, the brand new iPhone alone, which you're holding in your freshly manicured hands, costs more than you've paid in rent for your miserable apartment in six months. You don't even want to know what the entire contents of this suitcase cost. But how do you get to this Punta del Este now? And where is it anyway? You look at your new cell phone. Your tickets are in the wallet. First to Madrid, and then on to Montevideo. Premium Economy. Sounds great, you've never had that before. Should you put something on straight from your suitcase? Better not. You should take it easy on your clothes. But maybe one of those T-shirts from Balenciaga. A quick look in the mirror… Okay, better not, maybe a little tight around the hips. You're not changing.
When you check in your suitcase, the ground staff lady flirts with you. She asks why you've joined the queue with all the tourists. As an Emerald customer with oneworld, you should have been allowed to use the first class check-in. She asks if she can upgrade you to Business Class as compensation. You don't say no.
You can get used to the lounge. It's better than waiting outside in the aisles. The toilets are also better. And when you look in the mirror, you think that they must be playing tricks with the light. You look younger and more relaxed. And were you wearing that immaculate white shirt just now? Somehow the champagne seems to be going to your head. You almost missed the boarding call.
The lounge was cool, but flying in Business Class is really awesome! There aren't many passengers up here. But somehow you get the impression that everyone is just looking after you. Like a real VIP. You take a selfie of yourself and the purser. Later for Instagram. The Iberia logo well placed. You have to show your appreciation somehow. In Madrid, you send the two pictures out. The second one with the pilot. He says it was an honor to fly you. They're getting a bit carried away… They're making fun of you!
When you go through passport control at the terminal change, you first think you've put the wrong passport in your pocket. Cool picture! But it doesn't look like you. You check it out as best you can in the reflection of a window pane. Yes, the angular features, the piercing blue eyes… It all fits.
It's getting better and better. Instead of your connecting flight being called for boarding, a member of ground staff comes by in the lounge, takes your bag and accompanies you to the gate. You're already in the mood for a glass of champagne. But alcohol is only compatible with your six-pack to a limited extent. Besides, it's already late and you should get some sleep. You have more than enough room. So apply your night cream, put on your sleep pods and put on your sleeping goggles. And when you wake up rested after almost nine hours, you hear the first signs that the breakfast service is about to start. You hear the flight attendants gossiping. One of them says that you looked like Cupid while you were sleeping and that you could shoot him with your arrows. They obviously have no idea that you speak Spanish. You let them believe that you don't understand them.
Actually, you would have liked to have taken a closer look at Montevideo. But you don't have time for that. The season in Punta del Este is as good as over, so if you want to boost your mid-season business, you need a few pictures of the sunset. And you get paid quite well for boosting the mid-season business a little.
Tumblr media
It's actually a bit too cold at the end of March for topless shots. But your nipples look even better this way. "End of a hot day, beginning of a hot night at the most beautiful end of the world" you write under the picture. 3K likes in half an hour. You are worth your money!

Happy Valentine's (Gator Tillman X F!Reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Glenda plans a Valentine's evening for her and Gator. He has other plans.
Warnings: this is written from Glenda's POV at first so is more angsty than usual. as aforementioned, reader and gator are t e r r i b l e people. infidelity as always. i used the upsetting gift narrative from love actually (im so sorry). nsfw!!! mdni!!! no explicit smut written but heavily suggested at. unhappy ending- sorry my loves.
this is the song from the end 🫶
as always, part of the two sinners world ❤️
The table had been ready since 2pm, and finishing touches had been added all day but the table just began to look more cluttered with pink. Glenda had added homemade cupcakes and macaroons as well as a variety of photos of her and Gator. The usually drab and beige-colored dining room had been transformed into something from an awful teenage rom-com. Pink heart balloons floated up to the ceiling with hundreds of rose petals covering the stained wooden floor. Roy had gone out of town so Glenda had taken the full day to make the ranch a romantic paradise to celebrate the 14th February. This was the couple’s third Valentine’s Day and Glenda was sure that Gator was going to propose tonight, well, Roy had hinted as much.
Glenda had dressed herself in her white newest cardigan with a muted pink dress underneath. She wore the perfume that Gator seemed to acknowledge more and spent more time than usual pushing her blonde hair from her face. She’d bought Gator a new wallet, his name precisely sewn in by luxurious thread and a bottle of his favourite whiskey with a crystal tumbler with his name engraved. Gator had no idea about the gifts but Glenda had a rough idea of what Gator had bought her. To Glenda, Gator was great at many things but discretion was not one of them. Maybe Gator wanted Glenda to know? She couldn’t look inside, it wouldn’t be very Christian of her but she could at least admire the bag. It was a boutique just outside of town, they sold bespoke jewellery as well as some lingerie but Glenda and her girlfriends always averted their eyes at that. Since seeing the bag, Glenda had spent nearly every day looking in the store, trying to figure out what her complex boyfriend might have got her. Maybe a necklace? Maybe some undergarments? Maybe her engagement ring had been in this very store?
She couldn’t wait for him to get home.
Glenda had no idea that you’d been texting Gator all day and he was planning on spending the full night with you.
***
The helium from the balloons seeped out without Glenda noticing. The non alcoholic sparkling wine, which was chilled, was now lukewarm. The Etta James record had stopped spinning, she’d restarted it after it played out every time but for the last two hours, she just listened to noise of the cattle outside. Gator’s phone was going straight to answer phone, he’d text her a few hours ago that he would be home soon. It was now just after 9. He finished work at 5. Where was he?
The sky above was black and looked starless.
There was nothing shining down on her tonight.
Every light outside was the brightest she’d ever seen. Did Gator’s patrol car have bright lights? How had she never noticed this? She’d called reception at the station and Amy had the same tone of voice as she usually did when Glenda routinely made this call.
“Has he not come home again?”
“I swear Glenda, he left right on time- no reports of any collisions so it should’ve been a smooth run”
“You need to have a chat with him Glenda, this isn’t fair- talk to his daddy. He’ll beat it outta him”
Glenda wasn’t sure if she had suspicions about Gator or not. She honestly wouldn’t allow herself to even consider it, he would never do anything. What would he even be doing? He could’ve been at the bar with an old school buddy or maybe he’s back at the shooting range. His job was so stressful, he needed chance to unwind and how could she deprive him of that?
***
Gator came round to you as soon as he finished work, you heard the tyres squeal as he braked with force from the speed of his patrol car racing down your suburban street. You’d been teasing him all day, sending lingerie pics from as early as 10 this morning.
[sent at 10:32] You: ok, so i think my boobs look amazing in this
[sent at 10:32] You: image attached
[sent at 10:33] You: but my ass looks unreal in this- right???
[sent at 10:33] You: image attached
[recieved at 10:35] Gator🐍💩: got a lonnnnnng fuckin day ahead- don’t do this
[sent at 11:04] You: ur my valentine right???? i bought this just for u :(
[sent at 11:05] You: image attached
[recieved at 11:56] Gator🐍💩: make sure the doors unlocked at 5. cya then. b good.
He tried to hide the smirk from his face as he text Glenda he’d be home late.
You’d chosen your new lingerie set for him, it was baby pink and had dark hearts sewn in. Your hair was half up half down and slightly curled with a pink bow firmly secured with pins. You looked amazing, you had to admit that it was some of your best work. You’d poured a big glass of whiskey for Gator and left it on the cabinet next to your bedroom door. He’d love that little touch.
The pink tapered candles fluttered and the miscellaneous sexy playlist hummed through the speakers. As soon as you heard Gator slam your front door, you’d arched your back so the first thing he saw when he entered would be your ‘please fuck me’ eyes and the second would be your ass positioned high in the air. You smirked in anticipation.
“Fuckin’ hell baby- tha’s a sight for sore eyes” Gator swallowed half the whiskey in one gulp. He hissed as the liquid slid down his parched throat.
“You like your present?” remaining in your arched position, you shook your ass at him and smiled hearing him groan in response
He slammed the glass down; now empty after one final sip. He sneered at you as his eyes followed yours, he loved you like this, so pretty and complaint. He gripped your hair in his fist and pulled you up to his face; you could smell the heat of the whiskey on his tongue.
“Y’wanna know what I want for my present baby?” his grip tightened in your perfectly pruned hair, and your eyes rounded in response, prompting an answer.
“I want you to be a good girl f’me, all night long” his other hand clasped around your chin, tilting your lips up to his. The caliber of kiss was synonymous with Gator: it was rough, passionate, and filled with a desperate desire for control. His tongue slid against yours and you could now taste the spice of the whiskey on his tongue, along with the artificial taste of whatever disgusting vape he’d been sucking all day. Spit trailed between your lips as you pulled away.
“M’gonna be good, Sir- all night, I promise”
He mumbled a final "good girl" against your lips, kissed you quick, and pushed you back against your cream coloured linen. His ravenous eyes never left yours as he pulled his belt out of its loops, “s’gonna be a long night for you, baby”
***
You must have dozed off on his chest, you awoke to the feeling of his heart pumping and the sound of him taking a drag on some god awful vape. God, he irritated you so much. Your throat felt sore, presumably a mix of Gator’s strong hand wrapped around it and how much of the evening you’d spent crying out his name in pleasure. He smelt of sex- the whole room did. The bedsheets long forgotten as they kept getting in the way of the two of you trying to fuck each other as hard as you could. The playlist had moved onto something more romantic and you were too exhausted to feel uncomfortable. It was Norah Jones- Come away with me.
‘While I’m safe there in your arms’
Gator was too content to leave, he was vaping to try to stop himself from falling asleep in the cozy comfort of your room. He’d cum across your face and your tits, he could feel it drying against his side as you fell into a brief sleep. He knew you were awake now, your breathing had become slightly more laboured. Gator knew you were building up the courage to ask him to leave. You never liked it when it got like this. It was so easy when he was fucking you, when he had your ponytail wrapped around his hand and was using it as leverage to fuck you with everything he had- that was what you enjoyed the most. But, this is what he enjoyed the most.
He had to tell you about what he’d bought you.
‘So all I ask is for you’
The bag alone was beautiful, it was from the boutique outside of town. You’d never even considered going inside, it always looked too expensive and you didn’t like to be surrounded by pretty, delicate things.
Too scared of them shattering.
Too scared of breaking something beyond repair.
‘To come away with me in the night’
It was a necklace. And god, it was gorgeous. It was a simple silver pendant with small diamonds embedded and the heart in the middle was solid silver. Even in the dim light of your bedroom; its beauty radiated. You’d had gifts from guys before but nothing ever, ever like this. You swallowed the lump in your throat. This wasn’t right.
Fuck, this was a mistake.
Gator’s voice broke the crippling silence.
“As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of you” he placed a soft kiss against your temple “s’beautiful like you”. His voice was gentle and tender.
It was too much.
You had to shatter it.
‘Come away with me’
“Give this to Glenda- I, uh, I don’t want it” you felt too vulnerable; you couldn’t look at him. “M’not your girlfriend Gator, give it to her”.
You placed the necklace in the palm of his hand with care, already feeling immense guilt and regret but you couldn’t go back.
Gator got dressed whilst you sat in your en-suite bathroom, pretending not to care about him. You did, of course. You cared too much. After Gator drove away, you re-entered the bedroom, the music had stopped and the candles had burned out into unlit nubs. You didn’t bother to remake your bed, you just crawled into the warm spot Gator had left and tried not to lament.
***
Glenda loved the necklace that much that the thoughts of the abandoned Valentine’s Day dinner dissipated from her mind. Gator was the kind man she always knew he was and this beautiful gift had confirmed it.
Gator climbed into bed and immediately turned away from Glenda. He couldn’t look at her. The necklace wasn’t for her.
She was wearing your necklace.
You should have been wearing his heart.

When Lockwood had shaken George awake plenty of hours before, it had taken a while for George's brain to catch up to what was happening. By the time it did, he was worriedly watching Lockwood animatedly talking to one of the shop assistants from a nearby telephone booth.
"No idea what it is, or why..." he was telling Lucy. Lockwood was looking around for him. George nervously shifted behind one of the bars of the booth.
"Maybe he's just blowing off some steam?"
Lockwood was now wearing an aggressively tinseled Santa hat while wielding an identical one. George had a pretty good idea who that was for.
"Er, maybe. But perhaps you should come home too. Just in case."
Lockwood had finally spotted George and was frantically waving him over. George did not like the way the Christmas lights were reflecting in Lockwood's eyes.
"For the love of God, Luce, please come home. You can't leave with me...this."
With a bone-deep sigh, George regretfully hung up and emerged from the telephone booth, smiling weakly at Lockwood.
He was more than grateful for his presence of mind earlier, once they had reached Portland Row. Lucy walked in just minutes after Lockwood's unpleasant realisation about Nicholas and guffawed at the sight of the tiny tsunami of gifts.
"Brilliant," George said. "Your turn." He handed Lucy one of the last presents he had been holding and disappeared into the kitchen. She turned towards Lockwood incredulously, who was indignantly standing in front of the sea of presents with his hands on his hips. She raised her eyebrows.
"Oh, okay, I see how it is. I buy a few gi-"
"In what WORLD is this few-"
"- few gifts, and suddenly I'm the bad guy. It's Christmas, but I'm feeling a lot of negativity pent up here."
"Now you're just deflecting." Lucy rolled her eyes as Lockwood started fishing out some receipts from his pockets.
"Can't a guy spend...uh...three-oh. Oh. That's a lot of zeroes."
"Lockwood. How much did you spend?"
"...suddenly, I don't think I know any numbers past ten."
"Lockwood!"
"I couldn't figure out the installment plans! That's Y/N's job!"
George returned to the front door corridor and started picking up some boxes at random and shaking them experimentally.
"Yeah, a fine job you've left her to sort out your debts! No more shopping till Easter. And George, if you don't steal his wallet, I will."
He held up the present he was holding to Lockwood. "Listen, I don't think Y/N's going to want all of these, so how about I -"
"Absolutely not."
George made a rather rude gesture and disappeared back into the kitchen. Lockwood bent over to start clearing a path through the presents to the stairs.
"How was I supposed to know she was only kidding?"
"You know what her sense of humour's like. George and I would have picked up on it in a second."
A very unhappy Lockwood straightened out from under the avalanche of presents.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
Tumblr media
A little before lunch, Lockwood knocked on the attic door. It was ajar, and she was reading in a contorted position, all twisted up with a blanket on her rug in the one patch of sunlight in the room, leaning against her bed. She nearly tipped over when Lockwood poked his head in, but caught herself in time.
"Hey."
"Hey."
They stared at each other for a moment. It was the first time they had been alone since the morning's happenings, and it didn't feel as easy to laugh about it all when it was just them. Because the truth was, she didn't find it all that funny. Confusing, yes. Stressful, perhaps. But it wasn't that funny when all the emotions felt excruciatingly true. She closed her book, and Lockwood took another step in, leaning against the bannister.
"I'm sorry about the whole Nicholas thing. I was having a laugh, that's all. I never wanted to make you seem...foolish."
"I don't even remember Nicholas. I mean, that guy."
"Lockwood."
"Who's Loc- I mean, Nicholas? I'm Lockwood."
"Yes, I know."
"And I don't feel foolish. Do you think I'm foolish?"
She smiled at him with rheumy eyes, and his face twisted strangely like he was suppressing his own smile. His eyes drifted to the book in her lap, and the blanket swaddling her face.
"Er, reading?"
"Trying to. The sun's making me feel so sleepy."
"Then move out of the sun. Or take a nap."
She glared at him, scoffing incomprehensibly. "T-take a nap? What am I, 5? And we barely get any sun as it is, I'm trying to thaw my insides."
"Can you even breathe in that?"
She took a wheezing breath. "...yes."
Still, Lockwood sat down next to her, and after a bit of scuffling, she was tipped slightly to her side, leaning against him slightly. She was starting to regret using such a thick blanket through which she barely felt his shoulder. He picked up the book and opened it to the pages her finger was stuck between, and started reading. She closed her eyes and listened. It was some dream to be sitting next to him, without the usual inches between, to hear his honeyed voice ebb and flow, to watch his fingers smooth the pages and fiddle with the edges.
It was mildly disconcerting to hear the shape of his voice take on such a poetic form as if they were in some parallel universe. As if they were in some parallel universe where falling in love was easier than falling asleep.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, she woke up on her bed with a jolt, writhing uncomfortably in her blanket. Once she had managed to peel herself out of it, the embarrassment of having fallen asleep on him sunk in. She needed something to take her mind off it and eventually decided to tinker in her workshop. Down in the basement, she had a small makeshift workshop set up for the occasional tinkering or fiddling with some spare parts. It helped her mind relax when her hands had something to do.
She spent a very peaceful hour regluing some tiny diamonds that had fallen off an old watch. That was, until a door banged open from somewhere else in the house, followed by frantic voices. She looked up in alarm as the footsteps drew closer, blinking owlishly behind her magnifying eyeglasses. Her door swung open and Lockwood walked in, closely followed by a barely suppressed silent, but very agitated, George.
“Y/N, look what I found in George’s suitcase.”
Between the panicked sirens blaring in her head and George’s epileptic hand gestures, it was a miracle she was able to process all those words in the right order.
“…oh?”
A frozen smile sat on her face as her eyes nervously darted between the boys’ faces.
“It’s a snow globe.”
In a miraculous moment of clarity, she realised what George was violently trying to communicate to her: play dumb.
”What’s a snow globe?”
George was positively beside himself.
Lockwood, on the other hand, looked alarmed and touchingly concerned.
“You...you don’t know what a snow globe is? Do they not have snow globes where you’re from?”
“Did you just ask me if they have snow globes…in Hackney?”
He looked slightly miffed, but she couldn’t stay annoyed for long with his foolishly good-natured intentions.
“Look, Lockwood, I’m a little busy here. Is there something I can help you with?”
“I just…wanted to see if you knew anything about this.” He turns it over in his hand, and even with the shelter of anonymity, she finds herself desperately seeking the approval in his eyes that she had been hoping for. “It’s...it's beautiful. When I first saw it, I thought…” He looks up from the snow globe at her, where she’s holding her breath, and she’s distantly aware of how suspiciously invested she must seem in his answer.
“I thought it had to be you.”
She has his answer, but she still hasn’t let go of that breath, as if keeping at bay all the emotions and hope that will come rushing in with her exhale. He watches her face, and she’s too scared to even twitch. Too scared to come right out and say everything the snow globe meant.
“You thought wrong."
George’s seizure-like convulsions returned with a new vigour. Lockwood continues standing there for another minute, and it makes her think he hasn’t heard her until he regretfully bows his head.
“I suppose. Well, I hope your work won’t keep you long. We'll be having tea soon. Let’s- good God, George, are you having a fit?!”
Tumblr media
After their Christmas Eve tea, they exchanged presents, and to call it an awkward affair would have been an understatement. She passed Lockwood the pair of snowman socks. George grudgingly passed him the snow globe. The absurdity of the gifts and their donors made the four of them pause for a moment.
Finally, Lucy broke the quiet by handing out her gifts: mugs with pictures of Inspector Barnes accompanied with cheesy quotes. George's was 'live, laugh, love.' Lockwood's was 'keep calm and carry on.' But everyone was still looking far too solemn, so she nearly had an aneurysm holding back her laughter.
After they all retired to their rooms, she retreated into her chilly workshop. But instead of continuing with her work, she just sat at her desk, brooding a little. A few minutes later, there was a knock on her door as a rather breathless and pink-faced Lockwood poked his head in.
"Still working?"
She shook her head. "What are you doing?"
"Returning the presents." He turned to step out but hesitated. "Are you sure you don't want to keep any?"
"I'm sure that I would hate it if we went bankrupt. Do you need any help?"
"Oh, no, I'll be - yes. Yes, actually. These are a lot of presents. If you could spare the time...I'd really appreciate it."
So after she bundled up in her woollens and wrestled a scarf onto Lockwood, they somehow hurriedly carted the many slightly scuffed shopping bags into the cab, where they only had a brief break to catch their breath, given how close they lived to the shops.
After that, it was a race to hit all the stores before they closed for Christmas Eve. After a couple of rounds, they had developed the fairly efficient system of Lockwood lugging the gifts around while she spoke with the shop assistants. The one drawback to their fine plan, at least for him, was her glancing at the receipts and the too-long numbers at the bottom of them ("Jesus Christ, Lockwood, how did you not have to take out a loan for these? Honestly! Do you think we're made of money?").
Finally, their luck ran out at their very last store, which looked as though it had been closed for hours. She knocked and peered inside feverishly, clutching the very last gift stubbornly.
"No, no, we were so close! Now what do we do?"
"We can come back after the holidays. Or," he gently pried the box out of her fingers, smoothly lifting the top, "you could keep it."
It was a silver charm bracelet, with rapier and lavender charms dangling from the central chain, much like the ones they laid out on jobs. It was beautiful. But she couldn't take it.
"You already gave me a present."
"Have another. A little special something for a special someone."
His cavalier attitude, his foolish smile - in that moment, it was all too much. Her terrible temper flared and she shoved the present into him, forcefully enough to make him stumble a little. She turned and started walking home briskly, fuming silently until he and his long legs finally caught up to her.
"Wha - was it something I said? Y/N? Y/N."
"I don't know, Lockwood." She was sick of his carelessness, sick enough to be a little careless herself, let her tongue run loose. "What have you said? Or haven't said?"
"Y/N, you know I'm terrible at riddles."
"Well, maybe Belinda can help you."
That stuns him enough to make him stop in his tracks. She slows down and, after steeling her fraught nerves, turns around.
"...what does Belinda have to do with anything?"
His hopelessly clueless expression, which typically soothed her anger in their worst fights, only served to infuriate her further here. She walked towards him angrily.
“I didn't want to give you the goddamn snow globe because Belinda exists. All right? Because there are a thousand different girls out there who you’ll like better than me.” There’s a sudden tightness in her chest. With some difficulty, she turns away from him, lightly pressing her sternum. “I can’t compete with them, Lockwood. I won’t let you make me.”
She hears the crunch of the snow under his shoe as he takes a step towards her.
"Belinda is...amazing. She might even be perfect. But even she's just a friend, because...because you exist. And-and I could find...the most perfect girls out there, but the image of you would still be breathing in some corner of my mind. It wouldn't be the same with anyone else. It never is."
She sniffed gently. "This might be the right time to tell you that the snow globe...was from me."
She can't decide if she hates or loves how she can hear the smile in his voice. "No. Really?"
She turns back around, smiling sarcastically at him. "Ha-ha. But don't get too excited about it. I made little figurines to represent the four of us at Portland Row, but you can't even see them from the outside. It's ridiculous."
"It's okay. I'll know they're there."
At that moment, she felt a rush of gratitude towards Lockwood. He made everything a little easier, a little sweeter. They were standing so close that she could see a tiny snowflake on one of his eyelashes. She didn't dare breathe.
"There really never was any competition."
"I know."
"Then why does it sound like you don't believe me?"
She frowned. "I do believe you."
"I don't think you do."
"...do you want me to not believe you?"
"Y/N."
"What?"
"There's something you should know."
"Lockwood, I am going to throttle you."
"You're standing under mistletoe."
She glanced upwards, and it was as though all the air had been stolen from her lungs. Against the pitch-black sky and the gentle dusting of snow, a soft white sprig of mistletoe was curling out of the edge of a branch. She lowered her eyes back to Lockwood's, and her eyes fluttered shut as he leaned over.
As impossibly close as they were before, they were even closer now, and it still felt like they would spend their whole lives trying to get close enough to each other. She kissed him the way she loved him - desperately, with her whole being. When they broke apart, the tip of his nose and cheeks were tinged pink, and there was a light dusting of snow on his hair. In that moment, all she remembered thinking was that none of his presents made a better gift than he did.
As they walked home with fingers tangled together, she realised that they didn't need some parallel universe. In every universe, they would somehow, somewhere, find each other, and dare to love.

They are, without a doubt, your favorite fruit; tart, sweet and easy to eat with their stems serving as a cute little handle. It does suck having to deal with eating around the pits, but your beloved cherries are worth the inconvenience. It’s truly, truly a shame that they’re only really available in the summer, but that just means you need to eat your fill when they’re in season.
Which is why, when you stumble across a display of them at the market, rows of cartons filled to the brim with bright, plump, juicy red cherries, you end up buying a carton or three without a second thought.
In retrospect, it might have been better to show some restraint. Maybe you had hungry eyes, or were just a touch too excited, or maybe it was even the fact that you’d spent an unspeakable amount of money on just cherries. Regardless, in order to attempt to absolve yourself of some of the buyer’s regret that’s clearly haunting you after splurging on fruit you benevolently decide to share them with the students and your fellow staff members at Jujutsu High.
Or at least, that had been your intent.
“Oh hey,” Satoru Gojo greets you casually as you walk into the staff room, his feet propped up on the table so he can lean his chair back as far as possible. In one of his hands is a cherry, one of your cherries, hanging delicately from its stem. “What’s up?”
“What are you doing?” you ask him reflexively, ignoring his question outright as a surge of annoyance courses through your veins. There’s a part of you that feels weird about suddenly feeling possessive over the cherries. You brought them to share with everyone and everyone includes Gojo. It shouldn’t be a big deal that he's gone ahead and helped himself to some without asking, and yet you still find yourself feeling agitated.
"I was hungry," he replies nonchalantly, popping the cherry in his mouth.
"And you thought it would be okay to snack on my cherries?"
Gojo shifts forward in his chair and offers you an easy-going smile that only makes you scowl more. “There were so many in the fridge I’d thought you’d brought them to share.”
Your instinct is to argue, to be obtusely contrarian with him, but the fact of the matter is that he’s right, so you keep your mouth shut. Instead, you sit yourself down and stare at the half full carton of cherries on the table.
Out of the corner of your eye, you can see Gojo wiggling around, not-so-subtly vying for your attention like an overly excitable child. You ignore him and instead choose to think of the rising cost of produce. It was truly an ungodly amount you spent on those cherries and you know for sure that a year ago the same amount of them would have cost marginally less. When you thought about sharing them with the students, the blow to your wallet seemed bearable, their smiles worth the cost and more. But rather than your students' darling faces all you can see is the image of Gojo’s face, his cheeks stuffed with cherries like he’s a squirrel feasting on nuts. It’s annoying. Maybe you can get him to pony up and pay you back for a portion of what he’s eaten. Surely the heir to the Gojo clan can pay for some of the cherries he’s gobbled up.
“Hey…” He’s whining loudly now, any attempts at being subtle abandoned. You consider ignoring him more, but think better of it and look in his direction. Unsurprisingly, he’s pouting, his perfectly moisturized lips puckering out, and you’re glad that his blindfold detracts from what is otherwise a disgustingly handsome face. “Why the long face?”
He’s mocking you. He’s totally mocking you. Not that you’d expect anything different from him. Rather than grace him with an actual answer, you shoot him a pointed look. There’s no goddamn way that he doesn’t know. But still, Gojo plays his favorite role and tilts his head innocently. When you don’t say anything more he exclaims, “Oh! I know! You must be hungry.”
Again, he’s not wrong, but this time he’s not exactly right either.
He grabs another cherry, this time holding it up in your direction. He grins as he propels it toward your mouth. “Here. Say ‘ah~’”
“Gojo, you are not feeding me.”
He ignores you, insistently pressing the cherry to your lips as he speaks, his voice an octave lower, "They taste really good, you know."
The sexy drop of his voice is nothing short of deliberate— a tried and true tactic of his meant to get under your skin. You glare at him, your agitation clear as day. He is, as expected, completely unfettered, the cherry still flush against your lips.
Your options at this point are to: wait until he gets bored and drops the cherry, possibly onto the floor— wasting it or shamefully accept it and endure him gloating about it for the rest of the day. As much as you’d love to waste Gojo’s time and sit at the table in a silent stalemate, you have other things to do. Important things.
So you open your mouth wide, wider than necessary, and use your teeth to rip the cherry from Gojo’s grasp in the most unattractive way possible.
“Yay!” he cheers, choosing to focus on seeing just what he wants to see instead acknowledging that you obviously don’t want his offering. You consider, for one wild second, spitting it back in his face. However, you don’t and just drop the cherry into your open palm. Now what? Do you eat the cherry or just toss it? Frankly, it feels like a lose-lose situation either way, so you might as well go with the option that gives Gojo less satisfaction: you toss it into the trash can.
“Aw…” His lips jut out to form an excessive pout.
“I already told you: you are not feeding me.”
“You’re no fun."
“I’m plenty of fun,” you dead pan at him, scowling. “I’m just not your plaything.”
“Meaning you won’t feed me either?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Not even if I say please?”
“Nope.”
“Hmph.” He’s being overly dramatic and you both know it. “Guess I will enjoy the cherries all on my own, then.”
His voice drops again. The second time makes your body feel a little bit weird, but you remain largely immune to his antics, electing to grab another cherry to eat over paying him any mind.
But Gojo reaches for the cherries right when you do, obviously and intentionally going for the same one you are, and your fingers brush against one another. You scowl and rather than play some weird version of finger footsie, you go for a different cherry.
Annoyed, you shoot him another glare, or at least, you intend to, but he’s pulled his dumb blindfold down and that’s a tell-tale sign that he’s up to no good. You can already feel your blood pressure rising. Dealing with him like this is even more of a pain than usual.
He holds your gaze, his eyes clear as the summer sky, glimmering, as he presses the cherry to his mouth every so gently, as if he’s kissing it. You watch, almost entranced, your mouth suddenly dry. Gojo rolls it over his lips, parting them ever so slightly to press the damn fruit further in, his tongue darting out and—
You force yourself to look away, rolling your eyes as you do. “What the hell are you doing? You look stupid.”
Gojo merely hums, chewing on the cherry. You hope he bites into the pit and dies of cyanide poisoning.
He tosses a few more cherries into his mouth before he speaks, another seductive drawl, and though you would never admit it, you think your immunity grows weaker every time he uses that damn tone of voice. “Hey.”
“What,” you deadpan, glancing at him.
Gojo grins at you and his lips part just slightly, calling your attention to them again. He reaches up and slowly pulls a cherry stem from his mouth. It’s looped into a little knot and the sight of it throws you back to your middle school days— your classmates giggling quietly to themselves over the implications of things like tongue tied cherry stems and candies unwrapped using one’s tongue alone.
“So,” he starts, his stupid blue eyes shining with shameless amusement, “have you heard what they say about people who can do this?”
He grins at you, far too pleased with himself for his own damn good. You know the answer he’s looking for. And he should know that hell will freeze over before you give it to him.
“Yeah. They call them idiots for putting the damn cherry stem in their mouths.”
