Love for Love's Sake | Things You Didn't Notice #6

Translations and comments for Episode 6 (I have ADHD don't come after me, I was too invested that I bingewatched episodes yesterday and now I need to rewatch the 3 and 4 to make thorough comments on the dialogues). I was prompted by @lurkingshan to pay more attention to the movie posters :D Please let me know your thoughts after!

At first, I wanted to say that the movie titles were translated (at least, in my version of subs) and there was nothing behind them beside obvious but I decided to research more and indeed found somewhat interesting things! (the post will be long so I'll pile screenshots together)

First thing we see – Myungha has agonizing thoughts about "I can't believe I am on a date with a guy (when I'm supposed to be just an NPC/Player in this game)" next to the movie poster with an interesting title "The Guy Who Will Give a Kiss for 10 000 won"

This movie doesn't exist :D However! The title and poster style is clearly based on the old manhwa from ~2006 that's called "The Guy Who Will Give a Kiss for 5 000 won" (lmao they doubled MC's price that's inflation for you).

The note at the bottom says "Top Secret Disclosure: Kissing Method" aka MC is the guy who promises to teach you how to kiss if you give him some money, and the same note is shown in the LFLS poster. I thought the guy on the poster looked similar to Myungha but I think they actually got Taevin (the actor) to pose for this fake poster xD

Which leads me to the first thought that these posters were born out of Myungha's imagination – come on, we just got the scene between him and Yeowoon where they kissed for the first time and Yeowoon asked Myungha to give him time to practice and improve kissing (Myungha with his slightly better experience probably feels like a mentor with some "shady" intentions who eventually falls in love xD) Coincidence? I don't think so.

The second poster on the wall is also about a non-existent movie but before diving into that, here's how Yeowoon comes into the picture.

Two things: "Wonderful Ghost" huge poster on the wall behind him and the caption on the wall next to him.

In case you haven't paid attention, it says "If you come at four in the afternoon, I'll begin to be happy by three," which is a popular romantic phrase that definitely reflects Yeowoon's feelings atm, aww.

Meanwhile, Wonderful Ghost movie (also called as "The SOUL-mate") actually exists! But it's not new, it was released in 2018 and the story is about a guy done with his life after tragic events who becomes haunted by an energetic ghost that changes his life and mindset. (I did phrase this summary deliberately non-specific to make you feel another connection to the current story of LFLS.)

The caption on the poster also says, literally translated, "Let's do it together until the end of the world". This movie has other poster versions with other captions as Google shows but this is the version shown in Love for Love's Sake. Actually, while we're on the topic – I have no idea where "Love for Love's Sake" title came from, does anyone know? Someone in my previous posts speculated about the story based on this title but the Korean title of this series is "연애 지상주의 구역" ("Dating Supremacy Zone", or just "Dating Zone") which is the term that comes up in alert whenever Myungha is close to Yeowoon.

Anyway, back to our zombies, gorillas and demons. The movie Myungha and Yeowoon actually went to watch on their date was "Zombie Gorilla VS Demon Crocodile". The caption on thte poster says "Who will protect the world?"

Again, this movie doesn't exist. Why would they make such a point of showing Myungha crying and experiencing genuine emotions (when he only shed tears after he got scared by the full-scale system error and when his grandma got into hospital)? Well, Myungha explains it to Yewoon by himself.

"Well, it was the first time I see someone crying for a zombie gorilla." "Do you know how epic this movie is? The crocodile was actually an extraterrestrial. He met the gorilla here and joined him to save the world." "The plot is really strange." "It was very emotional."

Does it ring a bell? I don't think I need to add any words. Myungha = someone who came from another world and joined Yeowoon to save him and complete the game with happy ending. Myungha relates a lot and cries. I just find it funny thinking about how "The plot is really strange" and "You have a very strange taste" can be also said to all the viewers of LFLS (well, we all are very invested in this a bit confusing mysterious story as well, aren't we?xD)

I also love how we keep being reminded about the "unreality" of the story, how system can experience bugs and things in the world can glitch and Myungha is never immersed in this new life or his new love story to the 100% (cue all the 'choose anyone but me, go date a better man' and patronizing way he treats all characters around him, instead focusing on preventing them and the world from bad events following author's instructions)

I don't think I have much to add to the rest of the episode, I mirrored the haters articles and messages which were written for the show but the comments are quite generic (I couldn't read all of them but I didn't notice anything unusual). One thing, the DM to Myungha technically says "Die, Tae Myungha".

All I can say is that the online anonymous bullying is really prominent and a huge problem in Korea that leads to celebrities' depression and sometimes suicide. All influencers (and there are a lot of them in SK) are held to unimaginable 'perfect' standard and forums often have anonymous commenting which makes messages even more cruel (but later they addressed the issue and I think at least under news articles in Entertainment/Celebrity section the anonymous function was turned off, still, there are a lot of ways to ruin someone's life online). It happens in every country, of course, but stalking/online bullying is something that can be understood very easily by Koreans because it's often on the news and in the community.

Another little detail – even though Myungha does talk to students who are technically "younger" than him by one school year like he's old and wise, he doesn't use the word 'kid' nearly as much as you'd think xD (but the subs are doing the right thing anyway because how else are you supposed to show that subtle cultural difference between saying Cha Yeowoon and Yeowoon-ah, or Myungha calling Sangwoon by his name when he's frustrated with him instead of cursewords or titles?)

In the phrase "Get it together, kid!" Myungha actually uses the word 새끼 (saekki) which can be a curseword (like 'asshole, bastard', used by school gangster in previous eps) but it also literally means 'a child' that can be used by grandparents for their grandson or by parents, for example. So basically, think of 'son of a bitch' which can be used both as cursing and have literal meaning. Koreans have the same (개새끼 - son of a dog) phrase.

But it doesn't have an affectionate connotation when said by teenagers or adults (unless it's said to close friends without heat), and I am sure Myungha says it with more of "Get it together, you brat!" meaning. I just used this screenshot to tell you about Korean cursewords, he-he.

+ bonus: there is no translation or anything, but since we were talking about posters, I just found it funny and adorable how Yeowoon visually replaced here the poster behind him xD

Honestly? All their kisses are good so I can't remember if this was their first but, it great. Frankly, off all their kisses it's not my absolute favorite, but they deserve a mention because... wow boys. Just... wow.

Because of their dynamic I am pretty sure there was something before this one, but this one lives in my head.

Be Loved In House I Do

I'm not sure this counts as their first because I can't remember the sequence in BLIHID (he through line is a bit wonky in my brain) but it is a killer kiss.

There should be more Taiwan but...

The thing is, once a Taiwanese BL starts delivering great kisses they just keep it up. So unless the narrative puts particularly strong plot intent on the "firstness" of that first kiss, they just get all sexy domestic muddled in my head.

Three identical posts of a script preview with one changed word

Crowley's Present-Day Filter

No nightingale

I'm still combing through Neil's Tumblr and I'll add to this if I find any more.

Case 1: Neil posting this message about the script three times; twice with the word "Dailies" and the most recent one with "Sides". Neil claims it was a Tumblr error but it's too fishy to not be intentional.

Case 2: Anytime the screen is slightly darker, it's considered "Crowley's present-day storyline".

For example, Tiffen Bronze Glimmerglass were paired with bookshop scenes; Black Pro-Mist was used for Hell; and Black Diffusion FX for Crowley’s present-day storyline.

Neil mentions there are a lot of secrets in that article and this stood out the most. I'm going to rewatch the series and see which scenes are dark.

The Gabriel memory scene seems to also be a clue which I'll expand on at a later time.

Case 3: There was indeed "No nightingale" but there was a lark

There's a huge emphasis on Crowley saying "It's too late" throughout the series (plus Anges Nutter and her time of execution) and the "No nightingale" line comes from Romeo's speech to Juliet. which is another metaphor for lateness.

It was the lark, the herald of the morn, No nightingale: look, love, what envious streaks Do lace the severing clouds in yonder east: Night's candles are burnt out, and jocund day Stands tiptoe on the misty mountain tops. I must be gone and live, or stay and die.

Which seems to mean:

"No nightingale; the lark was there instead. It is morning and it is too late. I must leave."

If the lark was there instead of a nightingale, does this point to a wrong timeline? Or maybe that their story doesn't end here and they must continue on?

The lark can be heard when Crowley leaves the bookshop.

Morever I feel like "Night's candles are burnt out" can go hand-in-hand with Job's passage on the matchbox which is "Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out."

Side Thoughts:

Is Crowley the key to all of this? His memories being different from everyone else's, the oddly specific filter for "his present-day" scenes, the fire needed to light the lamps/keep the lamps going, him noticing there is no nightingale singing... (Btw, he is now one step closer to be eligible to ask God questions after fulfilling the ostrich question; not too sure about the peacock part though.)

What if there are actually three timelines if you consider the rule of three in a lot of scenes? Including the three concept art illustrations of the bookshop, the three telephone booths on the promo posters, etc.

My First Kiss

OKAY so this is indeed a multi fandom page and I have recently been rewatching Attack on Titan so I hope you guys are ready to endure this brainrot with me :D I'll probably make a pt. 2 with the higher ups and shit-

Your first kiss was completely by accident. Didn't make it any less rendering or embarrassing. The conversation between you and the main three was getting heated, Armin making a valid point that Eren simply wasn't listening to (he was listening he's just hardheaded) and Mikasa gave her occasional input only fueling the fire.

Somehow the debate took a turn and before you knew it everyone was becoming more and more animated in their movements. You had simply turned your head a bit too quickly in the direction Eren was sitting nd coincidentally he had moved forward just enough for your lips to meet in a quick pec.

"O-Oh! I'm sorry!" You yip, immediately pressing your fingertips to the spot on your lips.

You'd never seen Eren turn so red so fast. He tried to play it off, averting his eyes as the conversation died down a bit at the awkward occurrence. He'd never admit that he was hoping for something like that to happen.

Armin

You were a bit taller than Armin, well at least when you were younger. The blond just HAD to have a growth spurt. Anyway, you had a bit of making your height different more painfully obvious. When he reached for books you often got them off the higher shelf and teased him a little before giving and handing him the hardcover he desired.

As previously stated, he just HAD to have a growth spurt. Now if was your turn to be teased. You had been reaching as best you could, the presence behind you making you stop.

The blond had grabbed the item so easily, hell you'd forgotten what you needed at this point. he looked...good from this angle, his eyes somehow darker as he looked down at you with a smile.

"I won't tease." He hums, pressing his lips to your wrist, your hand still stretched upwards before he places the item in it.

If your major crush on the blond wasn't solidified before it sure as hell was now

Connie

You and Connie were already in a relationship, more secret so as to not draw attention but god damn it was easy to see you two were a lot closer than before...and neither of you was really good at keeping a secret like this especially when the two of you always had your hands off one another.

At this point, everyone had seen you two hold hands, sneak off during training to just be in each other's presence, little stuff. The one thing that had yet to be seen was more intimate contact. And it was only because it hadn't even happened yet. You and Constance hadn't kissed yet...so when you had snuck into the boy's dorm to lay with your glorified cuddle buddy, you weren't expecting anything but that. Until he started talking to you. In whispers of course.

"Hey y/n," He began, your fingers intertwined as you faced each other, your limbs tangled with one another.

"Yeah, Connie?" You answer, throat suddenly dry when his hand rests against your hip. It wasn't like you didn't think about being more romantic with Connie, you were really just nervous, you'd never kissed anyone before and neither had he.

"Do you think we should...kiss more. I mean, you are my girlfriend, I should kiss you, right?" He asks, his eyes looking down at yours, easy to see even in the darkened room.

"Do you want to kiss me Constance?" You ask, placing you hand behind his neck, your thumb rubbing over the fuzz at the base of his neck from hs buzzcut.

There was a little hesitation but your question was answered when his lips are pressed firm against your own.

Jean

This smug bastard, he knows you like to pick fights just as much as he does. and when you pick fights with him, it's honestly his favorite thing. He loves how your eyebrows angle so far down that you have a little crease between them. He loves how you get in his face and point that well-manicured finger into his chest. He loves it when you get loud. Not that he would ever admit it to anyone, but sometimes he pisses you off on purpose for just a crumb of your attention.

This particular argument was over who was supposed to clean the stables. You insist he help you but of course, he wants to fight, so he declines.

"I wasn't asking I was telling dumbasss now get up and help me." You huff, walking to him, your head angled upwards and the height difference. He only smirks and takes the opportunity to claim your lisp. The action surprised him a little bit. Since when did he get the balls to do something as bold as that. What surprised him more was when you tugged at his collard to push him away...but only doubled down and snatched him back to meet your lips again.

Yeah, if this was when he was gonna get when he pissed you off, he was gonna make it a point to do it more often.

Reiner

Honestly, you couldn't remember when you and Reiner first kissed, you two just sort of...did it and didn't stop doing it. Reiner always had some sort of scary guard dog position when he was with you and made it a point to let everyone know who was treating you like the goddess you were. So, any chance he got to show you off and show that he was totally hitting that, he did. According to him, your first kiss was right after you teo had been training all day.

You coudlt get the move down and you had been expressing your frustrationt o him. So, he offered to help you practice.

"I'll be great practive, you never know the size of your opponent so use this as a reference. Dont hold back." He insited, taking a stance as you breathe deeply.

You sprinted towards him, sliding between the bap he left between his legs. You were quick to put him in a chokehold, leaning back so that he would lose balance, and sure enough he did. You had managed to crawl from under him, positioning yourself atop him, your legs at either side of his waist as pride fills your face.

"I did it!" You celebrate, huffing in satisfaction before commigntot he realization of your current position.

"I-Wow okay sorry Reiner-" You apologize, hearing him chuckle a bit before sitting up on his forearms.

"Nah it's fine, i think i like this position though, nice work."

And before you could process the fact that your training crush had made a bit of a suggestive comment, his lips were already pressed quickly to your own.

I like to think that lilith's Angel DNA was still active or strong enough to last generations after generations. So if her Angel DNA got more thinner and thinner after generations, it would make sense for Mc to gain power AFTER forming some sort of pacts with the brothers.

This makes me wonder if Mc is the "special one" in her lineage to awaken this sort of power within themselves. If Mc had siblings, wouldn't that mean that Mc's siblings could also gain/awaken their power, too? Since they all share lilith's bloodline. Which could make some things very interesting.

I completely agree with you that Michael (or god) have their eyes on Mc considering how powerful they are (regardless of whether they're human or Nephilim). Maybe that's why Raphael was sent to the Devildom to keep one eye on Mc. Both realms are currently not at war, but i'm sure neither of them want that powerful being, aka Mc to become the others side weapon if something were to escalate. Maybe this is why Solomon once asked Mc to side with humanity instead. (I can't remember what lessons it was in NB).

Either that or they would try to get "ride of" Mc if they become too powerful and dangerous. and once more, according to biblical lore states that ridding the Earth of these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding the Earth in Noah's time. So they have done it before.

Also, off topic but; You used to watch Supernatural?! Omfg, this brings back memories 😭

Oh dearest angsty anon. I did indeed watch Supernatural. I started watching while season 5 was airing. For many years, I was obsessed. Though it got to the point that I just watched out of habit because by the time I had invested in twelve or so seasons, I was like I'm gonna see this thing to the end.

Which is funny because I still haven't watched the end. One day, I will watch the last half of season 15. Who knows when it will be, but one day I'll do it. I also rewatched the first 8 seasons, but it's been a while.

Anyway, I think you can go with any of the options regarding the angel DNA. The game's canon on this topic is sparse so I really think you can just come up with whatever you want.

I hadn't previously considered the implications of MC's siblings. I suppose that's why I considered most of MC's power to come from their pacts and so on. My own MC has an older sister and I can't believe I never realized that she would also have some of Lilith's DNA. My MC's mom might, too!! Oh man I kinda feel like that has to be the case because it'd be really funny.

Sorry got a little off topic there. Raphael's cover story is that he's there to be the new exchange student, but I think his ulterior motives are to watch both Simeon and MC. And you know likely to report back to Michael about the goings on in the Devildom in a more general sense, too.

Does the Celestial Realm know about MC's heritage? I can't remember. Lucifer was keeping Lilith's resurrection a secret from his brothers, but I'm assuming nobody else knows? Does Simeon?? These details are eluding me.

I'm just wondering if that would matter to the CR, you know? Just another reason to keep track of MC is their angel DNA, right?

I wonder if they'd even be able to "get rid of" MC, even if they tried. It's hard to say since we don't know how powerful Michael or God/Father is. On the one hand, I would think MC's power would be off the charts at this point, but on the other hand well... that's God we're talking about, right? LOL.

Anyway, here's hoping no floods happen just to take out MC. We get enough of that from Lotan being summoned.

Reflections on Ep. 6 of LBFAD on rewatch

Arbiter Hall, Day 6: DongFang QingCang (DFQC) has discovered that the greenhouse flowers are connected to Xiao Lanhua’s (XLH) mood, thus, tending to her heart as well as her body are vital to her full recovery. As she waters her greenhouse that morning wearing the lavender gown he had created for her, he asks her what she likes and wants, that he would bring her anything within the three realms that she asked for. The only thing XLH can think of is that she wants her Da Qiang to be safe. Since their first night together, she had been in constant terror of him being discovered and executed, which had manifested as a terrifying nightmare. She offers to make his favourite food and fix the destiny leaf if he will turn himself in, thus sparing himself from execution for deserting. But as usual he just rolls his eyes.

DFQC needs the destiny leaf to be repaired, but XLH has not yet made a full recovery. To his surprise, he does not mind waiting another few days. Since XLH had discovered his sweet tooth on their second day together, she made pretty flower-shaped cakes for him every day in assorted flavours. He was, of course, used to the finest cuisine and pastries made by the best chefs across Cangyan Sea. But when he ate XLH’s flower cakes, she smiled and gazed at him fondly in a way nobody else ever had.

XLH was indeed very fond of Da Qiang, but never forgot that he was an escaped criminal who would one day be gone. She needed to pursue her dream to pass the fairies’ examination and work at Fountain Palace, so she told him that was the only other thing that she wanted. Sitting close to him, she felt comfortable enough to admit to him her secret crush on Changheng (CH). He looked away in annoyance as she praised CH but was gentle in his rebuke that CH did not deserve to be compared to the Moon Supreme. “There are a lot of beauties in the three realms” XLH told him earnestly. She still thought her heart belonged to CH, but wanted Da Qiang to be happy. With his looks, intellect and irresistible kindness, any woman would certainly be very lucky to have him.

“To benzuo, nobody in the three realms is as unique as Xiao Hua Yao” DFQC replied sourly. This little demon had cursed him and was the only one capable of repairing Lady Chidi’s destiny leaf. He had tried to lift the curse and fix the damned leaf himself without success. Yet, she was unique in other ways too. Unlike most celestials, she did not unthinkingly abide by the heavenly laws. She had not reported an escaped prisoner, and instead, had treated him with kindness.

XLH, caught off-guard by this seemingly adoring proclamation, tried not to lead him on. “The one I like is CH, not you,” she said as he looked hurt, “and I want CH to be by my side, not you!” As she leaves, DFQC considers what she says. XLH’s happiness and recovery are crucial to his goals, so perhaps he should give her what she wants…and pretend to be CH? CH is her dream lover, and he is now forced to consider what being a lover actually means. There are more than a few romance novels lying around Arbiter Hall, some raunchier than others…so this is why XLH hadn’t wanted to share his bed that first night. He wonders what it would be like to kiss her soft lips again…

Haishi: Dieyi has discovered the identity of the thief who stole Lady Chidi’s destiny leaf to be XLH! To avoid suspicion, Ronghao decides to kill her during the upcoming fairies’ examination and make it look like an accident.

Arbiter Hall, Day 7: XLH wakes naturally, still wearing her beloved lavender gown from Da Qiang, to find a grumpy CH seated close by her bedside peering at her intently. How long had he been there observing her and waiting for her to wake?! She can’t quite believe he came here “to be with her”, but when he states that “benzuo will stay by your side in this form from now on”, it all makes sense. A little relieved, she forces him to shed his disguise! The handsome CH in bland white robes morphs back into an infinitely more striking DFQC in bejewelled turquoise robes. He offers to tie up the real CH and bring him here if it will make XLH happy! :D Of course not! cries XLH, half afraid that he will actually do it. That would only put DFQC in danger (she believes) and protecting him is the most important thing to her.

Shuyu Forest: Supreme Liyuan finds his daughter Danyin overdoing her magic practice for the fairies’ examination, much to his displeasure. He has indulged her too much since the loss of his wife and other daughter. The foolish girl won’t give up her naïve fantasy that she can be with CH! He is terrified that she will follow in his footsteps and pursue a doomed relationship. If he himself hadn’t pursued his wife, who had been from the Moon Tribe and thus forbidden to him, she wouldn’t have ended up trying to flee from celestial soldiers while in the excruciating throes of childbirth. His heart ached when he thought of the suffering she had gone through due his selfish pursuit of her. He had no idea whether she was even alive, or what had become of their other daughter.

Arbiter Hall, Day 9: Over the past few days, DFQC had spent hours every day training XLH to improve her powers for the fairies' examination. But her progress has been slow. As she leaves after a training session, he complains to Shangque (SQ) that it is difficult to improve her cultivation. He never expected taking care of a plant would be more difficult than conquering the whole world! But surely there is no challenge that he cannot surmount? He will do whatever it takes to make XLH the happiest woman in the world! To aid her recovery (and since he shares her emotions, to make himself the happiest man in the world!) :D He has decided to be present at the exam to help her win first place.

Danyin arrives. XLH, concerned for DFQC’s safety, makes him conceal himself during her visit. Danyin is widely regarded as the most beautiful fairy in all of Shuiyuntian, and is intelligent and powerful, but DFQC only views her as a threat to his Xiao Hua Yao. He is immune to the charms of any woman apart from XLH, including the beautiful Xie Wanqing and Danyin. He loves XLH only because she loves him so much.

Danyin demands her destiny leaf to see if she can enter Fountain Palace (and have a future with CH). Be careful what you wish for Danyin! Danyin’s actions of damaging the Destiny tree open the Tianji mirror for her. To her shock, she sees XLH marrying her prince, CH, not once, but twice! She is unable to reconcile these visions with the timid and powerless cry-baby before her, and shoves XLH down violently. Once she has stormed off, DFQC gently helps XLH to her feet and smirks at the thought of being able to kill Danyin for her. But she quickly makes clear her preference for non-violence.

DFQC is confused – surely eliminating any potential threat would be the easiest option? He is angered by Danyin’s treatment of Xiao Hua Yao and doesn’t want to see a repeat of it at the exam tomorrow. Choosing non-violence is far more difficult and unnatural for him, but if it is what makes her happy, it is what he must do. From here on, he chooses to adhere to her wishes for non-violence even in situations where it would definitely be in the interests of the Moon Tribe to choose violence. As early as eps. 8 and 9, he places his love for XLH far higher among his values and priorities than his responsibilities towards the Moon Tribe, when he chooses not to kill CH and not to kill the High Council of Shuiyuntian in these respective episodes.

Yujing, Day 10: XLH arrives for the fairies’ examination wearing the lavender gown DFQC created for good luck (minus a frilly neckline overlay). She hears rumours that CH has been in seclusion making an Immortal Pill to help a certain fairy with her examination. Some details are wrong, such as how long he was in seclusion and which fairy it was (they all think it was Danyin – did she spread these rumours herself?). Danyin arrives and regards XLH appraisingly. She has been thinking about it and wonders whether, somehow, XLH is the Goddess of Xishan who went missing and is actually CH’s fiancée? (she asks her father about this possibility in ep. 12).

Ronghao arrives late after setting up his assassination attempt on XLH and correctly guesses that CH’s secret crush is among the assembled fairies. Yunzhong carefully eavesdrops on their every exchange. He is not unsympathetic to CH’s plight. As a member of the ruling family, Yunzhong himself had to sacrifice the love of his life to fulfil his responsibilities. That is why he allowed CH to keep the handkerchief of his love as a memento, on the strict understanding that CH’s duties must always come first. CH’s engagement to the Goddess is vital to protecting the three realms from the ultimate evil Taisui, who if released, would consume everything in its terrifying wake.

As CH hands out Demon Pills, he is careful to avoid Danyin’s gaze, to her disappointment. For XLH, however, he tries to seek out her gaze, softly whispering “be careful”. As the judges watch the examination in Shuyu Forest through the Kuitian mirror, he is constantly worried for her safety and wishes to rush to her aid when a private fight breaks out, and when they see a giant Yingzhao possessed by the evil qi. As per usual, CH is unable to do these things, but XLH’s dark knight, DFQC, always appears by her side to protect her.

XLH has spent the last few days reading about the characteristics of various demons, and their strengths and weaknesses. She recognises that the Yingzhao which SQ placed in her path likes to eat the plant Hounds tongue, which she has carefully brought along. Yingzhao, appreciating her kindness and recognising the rare purity of her spirit, indicates that she should use her Demon Pill on him. He growls at the other fairies, however, when they show up to bully XLH. An invisible DFQC, showing amazing restraint, blasts the fairies away without singeing a single hair on their heads with his hellfire (he is not so gentle with Dieyi in ep. 7). XLH believes this feeble blast came from her and can’t believe how strong she has become! :D

DFQC leaves to investigate the evil qi he has sensed, asking SQ to guard XLH with his life. While he is away, the gentle Yingzhao becomes possessed by the evil qi, turning into a gigantic raging overpowered monster! SQ knocks Yingzhao away from XLH, but he then terrorises the other fairies. The kind and caring XLH cannot leave them in the interests of her own safety! She saves Danyin, and the fairies team up to bind Yingzhao with their powers. They can’t contain him for long, and XLH takes charge. Demonstrating natural leadership skills, she directs the fairies into a hollow tree, persuades them to give her their Demon Pills, and uses herself as a decoy to lure Yingzhao away! She cuts her wrist to attract Yingzhao’s attention, alerting DFQC, who suffers the same injury through the one-heart curse.

What do you think Charlie is going to say to Vaggie in the next ep? I mean, I have to catch up or rewatch but I don't think Charlie has some hatred for angels more like hurt and confusion over what they do to her people. And she it off with Emily; and I think if Lute and Adam weren't such assholes, maybe she could've developed some positive bond with them. But Charlie's reaction is so telling - One tumblr posted that her reaction was the most seriously scared she's been in both pilot and show. Thoughts?

Based on the gifs we've seen, they'll make up but Vaggie herself will likely have to tell her story up to having her wings removed as well as say that she's was scared of Charlie's reaction the longer their relationship went on. For Charlie, her wide-eyes do come off as fear, but I think she was more hurt and surprised that Vaggie had kept this kind of secret from her, so while she'll voice her hurt feelings, ask why she kept this a secret from her, how could she go along with killing Sinners, and maybe even say she needs some time (for the duration of the episode at least), they'll come back together as Charlie is so empathetic and forgiving that she'll understand Vaggie's reasons and that she's still the same person who believes in her and her dream. :) <3<3<3

Yeah, Charlie and Emily definitely seemed to hit it off and has some support in Heaven, but hopefully she won't become fallen too and can try to reason with Sera/the other angels into finding a better way than the Exterminations. I could see her trying to relay info to Charlie even if she can. As for Sera, she at least seems to hate the idea of the Exterminations (so it's nice that she doesn't seem as bloodthirsty as Adam and Lute are, who are indeed assholes), but she still allowed it to happen because she believes she's putting Heaven and its souls over anything else, so definitely not good even if she's trying to rationalize it as a last resort/doing the wrong thing for the right reason deal. She seems though to answer to something/some force above her based on what she was hinting/not fully telling, but sadly, even with her not liking the situation and may just be doing the best she can with what she's got, she still has flaws and a loyalty to Heaven that makes any change from her path really really hard. :/

Season 3 Rewatch Drabbles: 3x7 Dark Hollow

Summary: A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time. There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season. Killian stalked away, anger bubbling up inside him.

You want me to choose? I choose Henry. He’s the only love I have room for in my heart.

It had been like a slap in the face–a slap he clearly desperately needed.

Stupid, bloody love-sick simpleton!

His anger flared even hotter. He wished for something, anything to skewer with his hook. Oh his anger wasn’t directed at her. It wasn’t even directed at Baelfire. No, he was bloody furious with himself alone.

Swan had been entirely correct to call the both of them out for their childish tactics. Fighting over a lighter like a pair of churlish school boys! Doing so as a proxy for the woman they both truly wanted to fight over! It was utterly disgraceful.

She’d reacted as he would have expected her to if he’d had his wits about him, but clearly he’d lost them entirely sometime over the course of the last day.

He hadn’t felt so awkward and off-balance around a woman he fancied since he was a green youth in the navy. At the risk of sounding unbearably vain, he’d never had to. He’d had to do little more than smile devilishly at a lady, and she’d be ready to swoon right into his arms.

Not Swan, though, never Swan. She was made of stronger stuff than that, and it was one of many reasons he loved her.

He snorted. He had quite a way of showing it, didn’t he? Acting like a jealous nitwit, and in the process jeopardizing their entire reason for being on this terrible island. Jeopardizing the safety of Swan’s lad. Forget requiting his love; he’d be lucky if she didn’t skewer him with Baelfire’s cutlass. It would be no more than he deserved!

Killian let out a long breath. He’d have to rejoin them in a moment. With the shadow in tow, it was time to execute their plan to rescue Henry, and there wasn’t a second to lose. He had to get a hold of himself and fast.

What meant something was you telling us about Neal. Thank you.

It had hurt to see the surprise in her eyes at that, to hear her half-teasing “well you are a pirate”. Aye he was, and he’d been so for centuries, but he’d hoped, especially after that kiss, that she’d begun to see him differently, begun to see him as a man of honor. That she’d ever, for a moment, think he’d allow Baelfire to rot in Pan’s custody, simply because he was a rival, cut him to the quick.

And yet…and yet, she’d likely never know just how hard it had been to take that information immediately to her parents.

He thought back to Echo Cave, to his secret and the look on her face when he’d laid his heart out before her. She had been surprised, aye, but she hadn’t been disgusted. Indeed, she’d taken a small step toward him, her hand slightly outstretched, her mouth opening as if to speak…before she was interrupted by her father’s confession.

He wondered what she would have said. Not confessed her love in return, to be sure. He wasn’t so self-deluded as to expect that, but perhaps give him a glimmer of hope?

There’d not been time to delve deeper into the mystery, as her parents in turn shared their secrets and then Swan had crossed the bridge to her erstwhile lover.

Killian had been too far away to hear the secret she’d shared to dissolve Bae’s cage, but the quick, fervent hug they’d shared afterwards had spoken volumes.

As had Bae’s own confession to her outside of the cave. I’ll never stop fighting for you.

Killian little knew what had transpired between the two of them in the past, aside from the obvious which had led to Henry’s creation–an act he very definitely did not wish to dwell upon–but when she’d spoken of Neal in the past, there had always been a shadow behind her eyes, a pain so deep it could never be fully concealed behind the walls she set up around her heart.

Killian wanted Emma, wanted her more than he’d ever wanted another woman, at least since Milah, but even more than that, he wanted that pain erased from her eyes. He wanted her happy and at peace. If that meant a reconciliation with Bae, he’d accept it; he’d have to.

Oh he wouldn’t give up on her without a fight; he still intended to win her heart should she be amenable, but as he’d told her, he wouldn’t do so through trickery. After the debacle that had been this afternoon, he was determined he also wouldn’t attempt to do so through the childish, neanderthal tactics of fighting with his rival as though she was some sort of spoil of war.

At any rate, now was not the time to focus on his love life. Now was the time to get her son back, and until that objective was achieved, he’d remain laser focused.

It was the very least he owed her.

With one more deep breath he headed back to the camp.

This is not exactly canon because I made him half elf too, to explain his differences from other Frost Giants.

Saturdays were my favorite because on Saturdays, the entire team was gone. Tony said they went on some training. I honestly didn't care where they went. All I knew was that it was quiet, and I could do whatever I wanted.

I woke that morning with a smile already bubbling on my face. I had so many plans; I was going to try to bake cookies from scratch, rewatch all the Harry Potter movies, and finally finish a puzzle I'd been working on for weeks. But my heart stopped when I walked into the kitchen and saw a note lying on the counter.

Y/N, as you know Thor's brother is still under eval to be an Avenger, so we couldn't bring him on this training exercise, so if you could, keep an eye on him.

Great. Just great. Now I couldn't have the whole day alone because I had to babysit. With a groan, I made myself a cup of coffee and went to look for Loki.

If I remembered Thor's teasing right, he got up fairly early so he should have been around here somewhere. I wasn't going to hover but try my best to still get my stuff done, though I figured I should peek in on him occasionally.

When he wasn't in his room, or the library, I wandered down to the gym. Even gods had to work to keep up that kind of body, right? Apparently I was right because when I entered the gym I saw Loki. Or at least, what I think was Loki?

He had Loki’s face and hair but his skin was all a beautiful blue, neither light nor dark, and there were lighter blue lines all over his body, almost like tattoos. He wore workout shorts and did appear to be training; he was throwing daggers at a target and hitting a bullseye everytime before using magic to bring the dagger back.

I couldn’t help the gasp the left my mouth, making him spin around. It was indeed Loki in some form, but the biggest shoker was his eyes. Even the parts that were supposed to be white were a bright red, and his irises were an even darker red.

Horror shot across his face and he slowly started changing, shifting back to the Loki I recognized with pale white skin and green eyes. I realized as he shifted that in the blue form he was maybe half a foot taller as well—as if Loki needed to be any taller.

“Loki?” I knew it was stupid but it was the only thing that came to mind.

He approached me slowly, gulping and playing with his fingers. "I am… sorry." He murmured.

"What was that?"

"Something I did not intend for you to see. I figured everyone was on the training trip, I did not realize…"

"Can we talk about it?"

"No!" He said very quickly. "Let us pretend it never happened."

"Loki, I can't do that."

He huffed and bit the inside of his lip. "Well no one would believe you anyway."

"Who said I was going to tell?"

He seemed taken back by that, and tilted his head. Stepping closer so that we were barely a foot apart, Loki hesitated.

"I am adopted. Thor knows not, and I would prefer it if it stayed that way, hmm?" He arched his brow and instinctively, I nodded.

He left the gym and I realized I was still frozen. What the hell just happened. Loki wasn't Asgardian? Is that what he was saying? And how could Thor not know?

So, I did the only thing I knew to do when in a situation with Loki. I called Thor.

"Hey, so I had a question." I said when he answered. "Do you know of any humanoid species that's blue with red eyes?"

"With weird skin?"

"Yes. I found a picture in an old Norse book but I can't read any of it."

"Well that sounds like a Frost Giant. They are from Jotunheim. Loki killed Laufey, the King, years ago. To the best of my knowledge the nation has been in shambles since."

Why would Loki kill his own king? It was all becoming more confusing but at least now I had a name for it, so I could study more.

"Okay, thanks Thor."

"Anytime Little One. How is Loki, have you seen him?"

"Uhh… He was in the gym earlier but I haven't seen him since." I wasn't sure if that counted as a lie but my face heated up just as quickly as it usually did when I was lying.

"Well, just keep an eye on him. We will be back in the morning."

"See you then," I hung up and took a deep breath.

There was a Frost Giant, from a different realm, who I believed was an enemy of Asgard, just upstairs. How the hell was I supposed to process that information?

I raced to my bedroom and pulled out my computer to search up more about them. Were they dangerous? Did they have powers? Should I be scared of Loki?

Most would say yes by default since he was technically an alien like Thor but I'd never been all that scared of Loki. Maybe it was because he'd never been violent towards me, but he was never frightening in my eyes.

But the more I Googled, the more confused I got. I understand that often mythology got things wrong but there was so many different theories and mythologies on Frost Giants.

After an hour and forty-two groans, I gave up and went to Loki's room down the hall. Knocking vigorously, I only half expected him to answer. Low and behold, he did, and as soon as be saw me, he farted his eyes away.

"We need to talk."

"No, we don't." He replied.

"Yes, we do. Now let me in." I shoved past him and into his room.

Honestly, it looked a little like you'd expect. Lots of green and black, lots of books scattered about, but most of the room was very tidy. I nearly snorted; the bed was made even.

I sat on the bed gently and looked at him expectedly. He sighed heavily and sat a few feet from me.

"You have questions,"

"Obviously."

"Okay, then let's start from the beginning since I don't ever remember even having one conversation with you." He held out his hand. "Hello, my name is Loki Laufeyson, Prince of Jotunheim. I go by Loki Odinson, Prince of Asgard."

I shook his hand.

"Prince of Jotunheim? Laufey was your father?"

He nodded.

"You killed your father?"

He shrugged and nodded again.

"Thor doesn't know?"

"Only Odin and Frigga know. It is Asgard's best kept secret, one of their own is their greatest enemy."

"So, you normally look like this…" I waved a hand towards him and he offered a small grin.

"This is my Asgardian form, thanks to my magic. And what you saw earlier was my birth form."

"And why can't Thor know?"

"Thor hates Frost Giants."

I frowned. Surely he wouldn't hate his own brother. But then again, Thor and Loki didn't do a whole lot of getting along, maybe the news of Loki's true heritage would push them over the edge.

"Y/N, this must stay between us. Nobody can know."

I bit my lip.

"Okay," I agreed. "Under one condition,"

His eyes immediately narrowed and he leaned away from me.

"Can I see it again?"

He seemed to be thinking for a minute. "Fine, but you should also know that there are other spells I have to go under while I'm in that form."

"Why?"

"Well, one touch and I could kill you from frostbite. So I go under a spell to prevent accidental death. And in that form, anything I walk near or touch freezes in an instant. And well, I like my bed soft and not frozen."

"Okay."

He hesitated before I saw the transition slowly. First his skin bled blue and then the lines spread on his skin like vines. They looked beautiful, like tattoos almost. He opened his eyes, showing the nearly glowing red that beamed from them.

I looked at his face as I reached my hand towards him, making sure it was okay. He never stopped me. I touched his arm slowly, tracing the lines where they disappeared beneath his shirt.

I saw his hand twitch before he reached behind him and pulled the t-shirt off, throwing it in his pillow.

He was beautiful. Of course he'd always been handsome, I wasn't blind. But this blue, the designs, the abs…

There were two prominent lines that went down his chest and under his pants, and I traced one of those. He felt cool to the touch, but not frostbite cold.

There were more lines on his face that curved and dipped in certain places, but I wasn't sure how he would feel about me actually touching his face.

"I'm actually not a full Frost Giant, at least not according to my blood. I don't exactly look like other Frost Giants, but if you look at my ears…" He turned his head and I smiled, his ears were very pointed, which I knew wasn't natural to his Asgardian form, I would have noticed.

"So you're half Frost Giant and half…?"

"Light Elf, according to my DNA. My father is from Jotunheim and my mother is from Alfheim. It's why I have these ears and why I'm smaller than the other Frost Giants. I'm the result of an affair, which is why Laufey abandoned me, leading Odin to find and adopt me."

I traced the point of his ear lightly, smiling. I went to reach and trace his face too but stopped. Loki didn't seem like the kind who liked to be touched, so maybe I should've stopped.

But then he shocked me; he grabbed my hand and touched his face with it, giving me permission. I bit my lip and ran my thumb along the lines adorning his cheekbones.

"Beautiful," I whispered, blushing.

"Right," He laughed and I tilted my head. "I'm a monster, Y/N."

"No you're not. Look at you, you're beautiful."

I got up on my knees on the bed and crawled closer, putting both my hands on his face to feel more. His red eyes met mine.

"You are not scared?"

"No," I whispered.

He took a deep breath and I let my hands follow the lines down from his face to his neck and onto his chest. When he shifted, I looked up at his face. He looked uncomfortable.

"Too much?"

"No, it's alright." I kept going but he never really quit squirming.

"What's the matter?" I finally asked, sitting back and letting my hands fall.

He sighed, looking away. "I've never shown anyone this form, let alone let them touch it. And at the very least, I expected you to be disgusted and you're not."

"Sorry to disappoint."

He only rolled his eyes.

"Are there lines on your back too?"

"I don't know." He turned away from me and I got on my knees. "I only ever use this form for certain magic practices. It's useful in some situations."

"You do have lines on your back," I murmured, tracing them. "They're beautiful."

An overwhelming urge came over me to kiss one on his shoulder blade and I had to take deep, thought repressing breaths for a few minutes before I could touch him again.

"The really awful part about this? I'm the God of Lies and I always know when someone is lying. There's not even a hint of a lie in you when you say that."

"Well of course not," I replied, tracing one line that went from his shoulder blade and over to his chest. "I like this form of yours."

He shuttered suddenly and my brows shoved together. Frost Giants couldn't get cold, could they?

"Are you alright?"

"Yes." Oh something was definitely wrong; I'd never heard Loki's voice crack before like that.

I went back to the front and looked at his face. His red eyes were swelling with tears.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

He just shook his head, looking away and taking deep breaths.

I put my hand on his chest. "Loki you can trust me."

"I know."

"Then what's the matter?"

He looked back over at me and wavered on some decision I didn't know. But I didn't have time to ask anymore questions before he leaned over and pushed his lips into mine.

I gasped, letting him kiss me, even kissing him back. But I was confused, shouldn't he have been angry with me for not reacting as he'd planned? I wasn't going to stop him though, not when kissing him felt this good.

He pulled back, and I let out an embarrassing whine, chasing his cold lips for more.

"I'm sorry," He gasped out.

"I'm not," I grabbed his hair and tried to kiss him again but he kept backing away from me. I nearly wanted to stomp and pout.

"I-we… shouldn't." He was almost panting and I felt his eyes searching for mine but I couldn't look away from his blue lips. They, like his lines, were a light blue.

"Why not? I want to. I think you want to."

He hesitated, biting his lip, and sighed again. "It can be dangerous… Frost Giants and humans…"

"In what way?"

"Sometimes if a Frost Giant is with someone they actually know or actually care about, a sort of heat kicks in. They can't control themselves and they can't stop until they are satisfied. Humans aren't exactly indestructible."

I realized the hidden meaning in his words. It only happened with someone they cared about; he cared about me.

"I can take it." I insisted.

"Y/N…"

"Please," I realized I must have sounded pathetic but I couldn't help it. He was too irresistible and his natural form was just… I couldn't resist if I tried.

He hesitated and I climbed into his lap, cupping his cheeks and letting my fingers trace.

"If I can go back to my Asgardian—"

"No! I want you like this, please."

I kissed him and he groaned, grabbing my hips and kissing me harshly. I pressed against his cold body to try and ease some of the heat spreading throughout me, but it only made it worse.

"What did Thor say?"

"Nothing he meant." He whispered, making my heart break. "Thor will come around, it just might take him a while."

"Then why do you still seem upset?"

He sighed, turning towards me and cupping my cheeks.

"Did you mean what you said? That you're mine?"

I thought about it for a minute.

"If that's what you want, I'm not opposed."

He grinned a bit. "Neither am I."

I leaned up and kissed him with an edge of desperation. He pulled me closer and grabbed my hips.

Here’s a handful of cautious optimism as a treat, my brothers in byler

I think there’s a huge misconception about the state of this ship atp. You guys do realize we’ve always been 10 steps ahead of the general audience, right? We knew Will was gay as early as in 2017, some were aware of this back when the first season released too. If I’m not mistaken, the idea that Will might be in love with Mike was around and going strong especially post-season 2, and especially after that one line in the script “Will isn’t looking at the cute girl, he’s looking at… Mike”

Most of us expected explicit byler in season 3, needless to say we were morbidly disappointed. What we did get, however, was yet another hint at Will being gay, and the number of articles with speculation about Will’s sexuality started increasing exponentially. Any way you break it down, we really only got evidence of Will being gay, and there was little indication of him having feelings for Mike.

Season 4 brought the plot line of Will being in love with Mike to the table in canon. We got to see how strong his feelings for Mike are, how they are absolutely eating him up and yet he’s still putting the happiness of his sister and the person he’s in love with above his own, even if that means he suffers. We saw both him being in love with Mike, being absolutely selfless about it AND beating the homewrecker allegations. Personally, I’d call this a W.

Now I understand why we had our expectations regarding byler so high up, Noah’s comments were only stirring the pot. I don’t know if he was truly trolling, and all this buildup amounts to nothing, but he did say “they can’t end it there”, and on some level, he’s aware of the outline for season 5.

If this is indeed gaybaiting, I by no means want to defend that but we have to acknowledge that his idea of “building up byler” pretty much matches that of the general audience’s. We’re only getting groundwork as of right now. As much as we like to joke about him having a secret account on here, a couple of years ago he was, on some level even hostile about the prospect of Mike and Will being gay.

The fallout of what vol.2 turned out to be hit hard, there’s no denying that. Most of us were shocked they actually ended up fueling midleven even more, despite the fact that we were so convinced that going that route would essentially be anticlimactic and bad writing. There was a lot of dissatisfaction with using Will’s feelings as a prop for the straight ship (understandably so.)

But the thing is, the general audience is now for the first time properly aware of the possibility of byler being canon, and a lot of people are picking up on just how bad the lead-up with the monologue was. A lot of people agree that midleven is getting repetitive, and that the monologue was mediocre at best. Is it really indicative of delusion to assume that this ship is being set up for doom? Meanwhile byler’s popularity is skyrocketing and the tag has gained yet another thousand followers after the release of Vol.2 alone.

We don’t know what’s going through the Duffers’ heads. Oh I wish we did. But we really don’t. We do know for a fact though that they don’t really rewatch their show (albeit I hope they’ve learned their lesson after this) which drastically diminishes their credibility as skilled writers. In terms of cinematography and soundtrack, Vol.2 was absolute peak, but the narrative, however, was a mess. They left a lot of loose ends untied, and they’re going to have a shit ton of exposition to do next season.

So either they’re really shit writers, or midleven was anticlimactic and mediocre on purpose.

Despite everything, there’s still the fact that one of those loose ends is Will’s lying about El commissioning the painting. It’s evident in the letter in episode 1 and as far as we know, she’s never really played D&D. If they’re really as good at constructing stories as they’re hailed, we should expect this to go somewhere. Because the Steve and Nancy stuff was left unresolved as well. Same with Max’s letters. If they really decide to leave all of that unaddressed, it simply won’t be a look good for the show.

Bottom line is, they did say they wanted to write an authentic story, and I really hope they realize that having the main guy and main girl end up together is the most overused trope ever. We should all sit on the fact that we did get a fairly good amount of content to advance byler, and that they could’ve just left this storyline about Will’s feelings for Mike out altogether. They made a conscious choice not to. Now I don’t think that half of the shit presented in the byler slides was intentional, but I do think that there still is a chance that they’re heading towards a midleven breakup and byler endgame. I could be wrong, but this is just how I see it now that I’ve let it simmer for a while. We’re still in for an entire season, jopper’s development spanned over 4 seasons and jancy got together in the span of one, so realistically, anything is possible.

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 11 OF CHAPTER 2 IN DRDT

Alright, so I may be overthinking this...Like, a lot...but I've got a theory (Also this is copy and pasted from my comment on YouTube).

So something interesting I only caught on a rewatch is that David does not actually confirm all of Ace's testimony. Here's the quote:

"But I will admit, I did indeed meet Arei last night in the relaxation room. As for what I actually talked to her about...Well, I've already forgotten! She's dead now, so who cares?"

Now what I gathered from this was that while he is confirming that he met with Arei in the relaxation room, he is not confirming that their conversation contained the information Ace said that it did.

Which struck me as odd, since you'd think after giving that whole speech about just admitting the truth, David would just admit that Arei accused him of having that secret. But he doesn't. Instead, he keeps repeating that Ace is lying about something, (Since he says he wants to call Ace a "worthless lying piece of shit") but doesn't bother actually calling him out on it. Not because of his pride or anything, like he said was his reason for revealing his secret, but because he thought that the rest of the cast wouldn't listen, implying this was the truth but that none of them were willing to hear it anymore. And so he drops the topic and Ace's entire testimony is just kinda confirmed in the rest of the cast's eyes, even the stuff that wasn't confirmed by David.

So in my opinion, with all that evidence...Ace is definitely lying about the stuff that happened when David and Arei met up. I'm not sure what they actually talked about, but it probably wasn't related to David's secret, since David seemed so surprised Ace knew about his secret even though his conversation with Arei could've easily been overheard.

But the next question we have to address is...Why would Ace even lie in the first place?

The obvious answer is that he was being suspected of murder and wanted to throw the blame onto David, and that might be true. But if Ace was lying about this entire interaction like I suspect, that would require him to have already picked up on the fact that David was a lying manipulator, something no one besides Teruko had noticed.

And if Ace already knew that, without overhearing anything, you'd think he'd just tell everyone, 'Hey, David is a manipulating scumbag', not make up an elaborate story about how he'd overheard Arei say it.

But here's the thing: Ace has stated over and over that he doesn't want to die, and that it's one of his greatest fears. Veronika told him that being so mean to everyone would make them want to kill him, and that's true for murders like the one Nico pulled, that was done purely on emotion and no regards for what could happen in result of their actions. But if you really thought about it for more than a few seconds, you'd realize that if you really wanted to get away with murder, you'd aim to kill the people who you'd think could solve the murder. You wouldn't go for the idiot jockey who wouldn't be able to solve the case no matter how hard he tried.

But if Ace were to say that he has more observational skills than literally everyone else in the room, since he managed to catch onto the fact that David was a manipulator when no one else did, (Besides Teruko, who only knew because of her first interaction with David when he broke character), then that would be all the reason a killer would need to justify killing Ace. He was a complete jerk and could potentially notice things the others didn't.

So instead of telling the rest of the class that he was the one who caught onto David's false persona, he claimed Arei figured it out, simply by reading the secret over Whit's shoulder, something he oh-so-conveniently didn't notice at all.

...So yeah. That's why I think David was calling Ace a liar even after he said he'd stop denying things that weren't true. I'm probably waaaay overthinking this, but that's my theory.

Not Me Episode 3 Music

the (not very well kept) secret come out. i am indeed the not me rewatch event organizer. i hope you all are having fun!! anyway, i got like 1/3 through this episode without recognizing any music (other than generic background music gmmtv has used before) and thought this was going to be a small post but they really jammed a lot in the last 2/3

The episode starts back up on Stronger which we already talked about yesterday so we're gonna skip that.

Keep Asking Me - Francis Wells

We first hear this song when Yok is talking to his mother about her most recent job and subsequent loss of that job. I don't really think there's any deeper meaning to be found here, other than maybe the fact that it's implied that Yok keeps insisting he can provide for them; making some kind of connection to the title but I think it's a tad bit of a stretch.

Worlds Apart - Rannar Sillard

Finally some good fucking food! This song begins when the unnamed diplomat hopeful discovers White is a nepotism baby. The name could not be more fitting as we now know from his backstory that he and White truly are worlds apart in their social standings.

(I couldn't find the music for the scene but the scene where Yok punches Gumpa is foreplay, don't @ me.)

We see another appearance from Trade a Moment in the fight with Sean and White - where they are indeed sharing another moment (and blows.)

Waste of Time (Instrumental) - CLNGR

This is the song playing right after Yok takes pictures of a knocked out White. This is another one that I don't really think has any deeper meaning unless you want to read into the fight being a waste of time, or maybe Sean thinking tending to 'Black' is a waste of time - but again, it's a bit of a stretch.

In the Haze - At The End Of Times, Nothing

We hear this during my favorite scene in the entire show. This is just before Gumpa LITERALLY INTRODUCES HIMSELF TO WHITE. He says "My name is Gumpa. I'm the owner of this garage." because he KNOWS this isn't Black, his suspicions are finally confirmed, and he wants to set whomever this is at peace. (Still accepting @porschesbabydaddy my beloved's headcanon that Gumpa did a background check on Black and knew he had a twin. This entire scene is just a love letter to my raging competency kink.)

ANYWAY. I think this song is more for White than Gumpa - White is quite literally in a haze, he's still figuring things out, piecing together who is who, figuring out he doesn't quite have the skillset to keep up (and maybe he's still a little bit dizzy from that punch.)

(iirc this is also a song used quite a lot in other gmmtv shows)

Mountain Top - Marc Torch

This plays immediately when Yok and Dan lock eyes through the chain link fence. If we want to get really flowery (which I always do) we could interpret this as there being a mountain of space between them still, or perhaps Dan is Yok's mountain he's determined to reach the peak of (lmao). Yok has only just begun to understand the scale of Dan and his work, he's just at the very base of the mountain, but someday he hopes to reach the summit. (Also yay more Marc Torch, though interestingly enough this one is NOT royalty free.)

Kids in Love - Tellow, Lill Persson

UGH THE SONG CHOICE. This comes in midway through White cleaning off Sean's bed so he has a place to sleep. The fores sure are shadowing with this song title and it makes my dumb little heart giddy.

Go Season - MILANO

Ahh, the towel tug of war scene. I don't really have any deep comments about this one other than it's another upbeat, jaunty song that pops in during another playful moment between Sean and White.

As Sean says "I don't have a judge for a mother like you." World's Apart surfaces again to punch us straight in the gut.

Feel - Ian Post

I sure am feeling a lot of things. Feel begins just as Sean grabs White's wrist and says they'll sleep like that so White can't slip away. Sean is physically touching White, feeling the skin to skin contact, and perhaps if we want to stretch again (we're going to be so limber today) White is feeling some complex emotions towards someone who was supposed to be perceived as an enemy.

WHEW. that's it for today's episode! that was a lot and i sincerely hope you guys are still enjoying these (they do take me a few hours to make lajkgla i never realized bc i get so hyperfocused and do genuinely enjoy making them)

Characters I have chosen (it's 3, I couldn't decide on the first criteria, so this is gonna be quite a long post):

For the first criteria we have Strip 'The King' Weathers and Finn McMissile

And for the second criteria we have Francesco Bernoulli.

-> When I first watched the second movie of the Cars-Trilogy I mainly focused on the whole espionage thing that was going on, and less on the World Grand Prix racing. Therefore I didn't pay much attention to the other racers individually. And at first I did not like Francesco at all. He reminded me too much of Lightning, when Lightning was a rookie and I didn't like that. Bernoulli gave me, as mentioned, similar vibes as rookie Lightning, the vibes of the whole 'being a one-man-kind of show' thing. Francesco came across as a cocky, flirtatious, over confident character with a high ego. (At least for me ಥ⁠‿⁠ಥ)

But after I rewatched the movie several times, I started to like him more. (Well and maybe some fanfictions had their influence as well-) I began to think more about him, about his way on and off the track, his relations and so on. I saw that, despite his seemingly high ego, he is indeed a kind soul. For example how he seems to like the fact that his mother is his 'biggest/greatest' fan, and he is open about that too. I have a feeling some other racers would be embarrassed to see their family members, especially their mother, cheering for them. But he doesn't mind it. (Alright- this turned out longer than expected-) ⊂⁠(⁠(⁠・⁠▽⁠・⁠)⁠)⁠⊃

NOW- let's get going with the rest of your 'Character Asks' request (⁠つ⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)⁠つ

I am gonna go in the following order for each number: Strip Weathers, Finn McMissile, Francesco Bernoulli

1) My first impression of them

-> A racer with great potential, that is also blue and works for an agency with a Dino as a logo. (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)

-> Uiii cool looking, normal, spy guy. Actually, scratch that- a wild traumatized appeared (Pokemon reference intended)

-> Rookie Lightning McQueen but make him Italian and take away his fenders

2) When I think I truly started to like them

-> When he told off Lightning at the beginning of Cars 1. No elaboration.

-> Right at the start of Cars 2, due to the whole entire chasing scene.

-> After rerunning the movie several times, and fanfiction-

3) A Song that reminds me of them

-> 'Gossip' by Måneskin

-> 'Set it off' by Skillet

-> 'Iconic' by Simple Plan

10) Describe the character in one sentence

-> Silly country boi that loves racing and his wife (and sponsor.) ⊂⁠(⁠・⁠▽⁠・⁠⊂⁠)

-> Bisexual- I am sorry- British secret spy agent with trauma.

-> Italian racer that is shamelessly flirting (and in love) with McQueen

13) Your favorite friendship they have

-> Him and Tex/Him and Junior

-> Him and Tomber

-> Him and McQueen

16) A childhood headcanon

-> Never liked playing/interacting with other kids

-> Grew up somewhere in Germany

-> Used to steal- eh I mean borrow, Mama Bernoulli's cosmetics

18) How do you think they were as a kid?

-> Shy and reserved, didn't know how to connect with others around him

-> Bubbly and happy, always in action, until some trauma happens (Explanation in 22)

-> Outgoing and enthusiastic, loved to brag about Mama Bernoulli's delicious food (he still does that)

20) A weird headcanon

-> Had a goth/punk phase as a teen. (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠)

-> Once needed to plan a wedding for a Spy-Mission, as part of a cover

-> He knows how to knit and sew. (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠) Mama taught him (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)

21) When do you think they were at their happiest?

-> Whenever he is/was on the track or with Lynda/Tex, and later on whenever Cal or Junior are around, oh and when he met Doc Hudson (⁠つ⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠)⁠つ

-> Training Academy with Leland and when he was/is with Mater/Holley and or Tomber

-> Also while racing, around his fellow racers (The other WGP racers), and of course when he is with his Mama

22) When do you think they were at their lowest?

-> When he crashed at the Tiebreaker race, and during middle school

-> After his mother's death, and later when Leland passed

-> After a harsh break up, and unlucky for him, his Mama was very ill at the same time too (she got better of course)

24) What do you think is a secret they have that they never told anyone

-> He once wanted to commit. (I'm sorry, I'm dumping so much trauma on the poor guy) Never told anyone. Not even his parents found out. Not even Lynda or Tex know, he keeps that secret to himself and he will take it with him into his grave.

-> He will never tell anyone, how exactly his mother passed, only he knows the real reason and he is gonna keep it that way

-> He used to eat flowers when he was bored, and occasionally he still does that. Of course he isn't gonna tell anyone, his Mama doesn't know either

25) When do you think they acted the most ooc?

-> When he met Doc for the first time and was alone with him. I don't know what kind of hyperfixation suddenly hit him, but he suddenly became all excited and bubbly. I mean his Idol was in front of him. (I am sorry I couldn't think of any movie scene that seemed ooc for him)

-> That one scene in Cars 2 in Japan, where he fought with some of the lemons. There is this one scene, one split second, where he was shocked to suddenly be rammed

-> Also in Japan, during the race on the dirt part of the track. We all know he lost his momentum there due to not knowing how to properly drive in dirt. That was the one moment his self-confidence/his ego took damage.

26) When do you think they were being 'themselves' the most?

-> Honestly, on the track, with Lynda and Tex, with other friends, with his nephew and so on

-> Around Leland/Tomber, and with Mater/(Holley)

-> With his fellow WGP racers, especially with Lightning
