what are the plots of your mbav fanfic ideas?

There's actually quite a lot of them, but I'll tell you a few of them, though. But just of the ones I haven't decided if I wanna do or not because I don't know how to turn them into a story with a full plot just yet. Currently, they're all just story ideas with a partial plot to them.

Anyway, enough jabbering! Here's some of my fic ideas that are still up for debate on whether or not I'll do them:

This idea would probably be a series. The first book/fic of it would cover Jesse's past a bit and exactly how he knew Ethan's ancestor, too. Basically, Jesse and Ethan's ancestor were in love with each other but being gay back then was a big no-no and Ethan's ancestor's father didn't approve of their relationship together. In fact, Ethan's ancestor's father didn't even like Jesse to begin with would forbid his son from seeing him, too. Pretty much a whole forbidden romance type thing between the two. I won't go into details about the whole plot mainly because there's a lot. But the gist of it is that Ethan's ancestor's father was the one who told the rest of the town about Jesse and his flock being vampires and was responsible for assembling the angry mob who killed them (except for Jesse, of course). And after the fire, Jesse left town to not only recover from his injuries from the fire, but to also lay low for a while, as well. Unfortunately, it took him a few years to be able to return (for Ethan's ancestor), but when he did it was too late as Ethan's ancestor had a family of his own (with a woman. not a man.). And not only was he now married with kids, but he was now dead after dying from some sort of deadly illness.

Book two would be a remake of the MBAV movie and it would be a Bethan fic as Ethan and Benny would be also dating in it, as well. And after seeing Ethan for the first time, Jesse no longer cares about trying to get Sarah to join him, as his new love interest is now Ethan after finding out that Ethan is a descendant of that Morgan ancestor he fell in love with back then and how much Ethan looks just like him, as well. Of course, everything else in the movie does still happen, but just with a few changes, though. Like for example, Jesse doesn't wind up being killed or sealed away by the Dusker souls he gathered in the Cubile Animus. Instead, he sticks around (much to Sarah and Benny's dismay. mainly Benny's) and sometimes helps them out with their wacky supernatural adventures. Oh, yeah! I forgot to mention! Also, even though Ethan is with Benny and loves him very much, he still can't help but to slightly feel something for Jesse, as well, due to him being like his ancestor's reincarnation which means those feelings for the vampire were also inherited from his ancestor. But don't worry. His feelings for Benny are much greater those for Jesse's, though. But it's like he's kinda torn between the two at times when it comes to these feelings, but like I said before. He mainly chooses to stick with his current feelings and boyfriend (Benny), instead. But Jesse knows that Ethan also inherited his ancestor's feelings towards him, as well, and sometimes tries to convince Ethan to dump Benny and be with him, instead. Like it was supposed to be all those years ago because they were soulmates. Basically, the whole thing is like a struggle between a past love from a former life with Jesse and present day love that Ethan's with Benny now. A love triangle, if you will. *giggles* :P

Then of course, there would be a book 3, as well, which would cover their adventures in season 1 of the show. And maybe even a book 4, that would cover season 2's adventures.

And that's the gist of this mbav fanfic idea that's been rattling around in this old noggin' of mine. Gosh! That was a lot longer than I thought. Lol! Well, I don't want to make this reply any longer than it is already. So just one possible mbav fic idea will have to do for now, I suppose. Lol! Sorry.

As it stands now, this one is my favorite, so far. And I would really like to do it, but I just have way too many mbav fics to do already. But you never know. Maybe someday I might just say "forget it!" and just do it, regardless of how many other future fic ideas I have waiting to be done on my Fanfiction.net account! Lol! After all, it's my account and my stories, so I get to decide what comes next! :)

Steve/ Agree to Sarah

You smile and lift his hand, kissing his palm. “Of course we can name her, Sarah,” you say. “It would be a lovely way to honor her.”

“I wish she could have gotten to meet her,” Steve says.

“Yeah, I do too,” you agree. “But we’ll make sure this Sarah knows all about her.”

Your pregnancy progresses well, as do things with Steve. The confession of love feels a little like a weight has been lifted - not only off your shoulders but the shoulders of your relationship. Instead of being two people who just happen to get along expecting a baby that they haven’t planned for, now you’re two people in love, excited about the arrival of your daughter.

You’re careful not to rush things though. There’s still a lot of pressure for the relationship to work, and you don’t want to take steps you aren’t ready for. However, things do move forward. The dates are less formal and more domestic. Rather than being two people getting to know each other, you’re two people testing out how you work together as a couple. Steve is spending more time at your place, and you end up giving him a key to the place and a drawer to keep his things, so he could come and go as he pleases.

You aren’t spending quite as much time at the tower, so when you show up at his place, it’s a surprise when he shows you how much work he is putting into his daughter’s bedroom.

You have both been working on nurseries in your respective places, and have been shopping together more than once to buy things such as cribs, change tables, and diaper genies. So while you know that he’s been setting up to prepare for her arrival, you’re shocked to see how much work he’s put in.

The nursery in your small apartment is just a corner of your bedroom you have put a partition around. There’s a crib and the change table and that’s the extent of it. Steve, on the other hand, has a full room. There’s the crib and change table both painted white. The crib has a mobile above it depicting stars and the moon. A shelf sits to one side with cushions and small chairs. It’s a partial bookshelf toybox and there are already both books and toys taking up their rightful places. Two of the walls are painted pale pink and have a wallpaper border featuring ducks in light blue and yellow. The other two walls have an elaborate mural depicting Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion walking down the yellow brick road with the emerald city glimmering in the distance. Toto is running ahead and the field of poppies can be seen leading up to the city. It is so detailed and beautiful and it makes your heart ache to think of how much effort and love he is putting in to get ready for his daughter.

“Wow,” you say, looking around. “You’ve gone to so much effort.”

“I just… I never want her to feel like she was an accident,” Steve says. “Or that she’s an inconvenience.”

You wrap your arms around his waist and nuzzle into his neck. “She’s going to love it. Did you hire someone to paint this?”

Steve shakes his head. “No, I did it,” he says. “I had to restart a few times, I’m out of practice and paint wasn’t my medium.”

“What?” You squawk, pulling back and looking at him. “When were you going to tell me you could do this?”

“Not just a pretty face, huh?” He teases.

“And here I thought you were my big blond himbo,” you tease back.

Steve laughs and kisses the top of your head. “Would it be too soon to ask you to move in with me?”

The question shocks you and you pull back and blink at him. “What?” You ask.

“I know,” he says. “Sorry, that came out of nowhere. If you think it’s too soon, I completely understand. But I’ve been thinking lately, I spend so much time with you anyway, and with her due date being so close… I love you, and… wouldn’t it be better to start this off together in the same place?”

You chew your bottom lip as you consider the offer. It does make sense, you will need his help when she’s little and you do love him, but it will also put an extra level of pressure on the relationship.

I was reading HS2 for a while, but honestly? I couldn’t in good faith recommend it to you, especially if you deeply value the characters and themes from Homestuck proper. Everybody has their own individual taste and connection to these characters, but with the way that the narrative of HS2 has been gradually declining in quality... it’s kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. idk, if you want to continue to find enjoyment in HS and its fanbase, I would strongly suggest not engaging with HS2.

That being said, there are a plethora of fanworks and artists that i can recommend to you! I don’t know if many of them are very active on their Tumblr blogs, so I’ll also list their Twitter profiles since this is where most of these artists are most active:

I’ve had my current OTP for like almost 8 years and it’s, obviously, Thoschei (Doctor/Master). My other current obsession is the Gallifrey OT4 hehehe

B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind

It’s funny because I didn’t ship Hannigram at first... I’d thought the idea of a cannibal having a relationship was terrifying because what if they had sex and Hannibal got hungry in the middle of the act? Lmaoooo

But yeah they’re my endgame now. I watched the show when it first aired and I was about 14/15 years old so now you see why I thought that. Although I’m still afraid I’m gonna be reading a fic and Hannibal will suddendly bite Will’s dick off or smth AKJHSAKJSAHSASKAJ

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)

Uhhh Doctor/Clara. Mainly because I don’t like to ship the Doctor with companions (there may be one or two exceptions but I don’t ship them enough to actually say I ship them lol) and I don’t know I just never vibed with it

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t (again: be nice)

Doctor/River. I mean, I did like it for a while years ago but now it’s just... eh. I think she has a waaay better chemistry with the 12th Doctor, but still don’t ship it. I might give it a try once I listen to the River audios but so far meh. I’m not much of a multishipper anyway.

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what

God. I’ve written a couple of Academy Era (focused on the Deca) crack fanfics and I still have to translate them to English. They’re pure garbage but I love them. I have a lot of fun writing crack fics because they’re easier and I can ignore whatever piece of canon I want just for the laughs

F - What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom

Guess it’s Doctor Who, been here (in and out of the fandom) for over 8/9 years

G - Do you remember your first OTP, if so who was in it

Uhhhh I think it was Han Solo and Leia, since I was a kid really. I wanted to marry both of them lol

H - What is your favorite source text for fandom stuff (e.g., tv shows, movies, books, anime, Western animation, etc.)

I had to google what a source text is and still don’t know

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why

I don’t think so, but Twitter definitively has. I remember a couple years ago I was curious to see what voltron was about and watched a few episodes, it was ok, fun and cute but the fandom was so annoying I stopped watching it for good and don’t care about it enough to pick it up again

J - Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over tumblr

I had definitively forgotten about supernatural until I saw it all over my dashboard in the year of our lord 2020 lmao like in my wholock days I tried to watch the show because everyone on my dash (is it still called dashboard?) was talking about it and I watched about 8 episodes before dropping it. But seeing it again on the dash was actually a happy surprise because the memes are too funny hahaha

K -Say something nice about someone in any of your fandoms

I’m extremely shy irl and on the internet as well but I wanna say that @janeturenne is one of the best authors ever and her fanfics are a blessing in my life; also @thebraxiatelcollection who brings awesome content to my dash and is also one of the best authors. And of course, you, Jack, also one of the best authors god I’m so BLESSED

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)

Uhhh I guess I’m neutral about the current companions. They’re not my favorites but I don’t really dislike them - they had a lot of potential and chibs came up with some good storylines but did not develop them well in my opinion. I think Graham is a fun grandpa whom I’m going to miss when he leaves; Ryan is cool and could’ve done a lot more if the writers had kept a few things, it’d be awesome if he vlogged all of their adventures. He’s like the one I was curious to see more but sadly didn’t feel a connection; and Yaz, I hope she’ll keep growing and that her friendship with the Doctor will finally be developed to a level we can connect to her.

It sounds weird because with the fam it’s always ‘what I wish could have been’ because I never felt really connected to them :(

M - Say something genuinely nice about a ship that you don’t ship (or its shippers, or anything related to you)

Ok... I don’t really ship Rey/Finn but I think it’s one of the sweetest ships ever, and if they ended up together I’d be happy. They love each other and are there for each other always so, yeah :D

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)

I don’t know if I got the question right but it’s three things I wish I saw more in my main fandom? Well, if it’s that, then, 3 things about the Doctor Who fandom: 1) people having more civilized or light-hearted discussions about things. Like, I genuinely disliked an 8th doctor audio I listened once that my friends loved, and they made fun of me and we joked about it. Also once we were in a live twitch video playing among us and discussing doctor who, and then we got into a ship “discourse” as a joke and nobody really cared and just laughed because everyone knew it’s fictional shit so why get mad over it? 2) Doctor Who has a titanic amount of content, it’s all canon but at the same time it’s not, so who cares? If you want to listen to Big Finish audios and if you can afford it, then lisiten; if you can’t, it’s okay, no one has the right to tell you you’re less of a fan. Just tell them to fuck off; 3) The best way to keep fandom alive is by creating content. Here in my local fandom we have several podcasts dedicated to all areas of the whoniverse (the show, the expanded universe, the audios, etc), those old fandom websites who do serious work to bring news to the fans, people who make subtitles for the classic series (we don’t have it available here so they do their best to make it accessible to other fans), accounts dedicated to promoting dr who fans who create content, and we even have people making their own audiodramas with dw characters and writing book-lenght fanfiction to help explain the show to people who’ve never watched it, and a great variety of things. I’ve seen a few of these things in the international fandom, mostly by older fans, so I wish younger fans about my age who have the means to make this kind of stuff would make it too. Maybe there’d be less twitter drama out there lol

O - Choose a song at random, which ship or character does it remind you of

“the killing moon” by echo & the bunnymen reminds me of thoschei. yep it was totally random

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)

The fact that we don’t have a pride and prejudice AU for brax/romana yet is driving me insane

Q - A ship you’ve abandoned and why

I’ve mentioned it before but doctor/river, don’t really remember why idk I just don’t vibe with it anymore. But also because thoschei has so many different pairings in 1 ship that I don’t really feel the need to ship them with anyone else lol

R - A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships

GOD I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT’S SO SPECIFIC ok fellow academy era stans gather around if you have read Divided Loyalties there’s a scene where it SHOWS that Magnus had a crush on Ushas. And NO ONE HAS EVER TALKED ABOUT THEM and the power couple they would’ve made. I write them into all my fanfics in hopes of making other people ship them but I’ve had no success so far

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged)

The Master is a big fan of musicals and in the 77 years he spent on earth he watched every single one ever. I’m gonna be bold and say that when he was young, still Koschei, he was an artist, and thought about dropping everything to become an actor on Gallifrey. Time Lords do appreciate art, and have their own plays, but it’s just the same old and boring ones the young people don’t care about. The Master then created a shocking performance that was way ahead of its time and the older Time Lords were so appalled they banned him from writing and presenting plays and that’s his villain origin story

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)

1) The Doctor and the Master married on Gallifrey and the entire show is just them having the most litigious divorce in the universe (still isn’t final because the Master has killed all the judges); 2) Ushas/The Rani is ace; 3) The Deca was a 10 people polyamorous relationship; 4) Romana and Livia were girlfriends at the Academy and they hate each other now because the break up was baad; 5) Romana writes fanfiction; 6) Romana/Leela had a thing in Davidia I KNOW it; 7) Leela pegs Narvin; 8) Brax has a life-size painting of Romana at his collection or a statue or smth; 9) Brax’s dream in Reborn is actually REAL and he’s married to Romana, Leela and Narvin all at the same time

U - 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms

I don’t even think I’m in 5 fandoms but

Doctor Who: The Master, The Doctor, Romana, Leela, Sarah Jane, Bill (this was the hardest thing ever)

The X-Files: Mulder, Scully, Monica, and can I add The Lone Gunmen too?

Star Wars: Leia, Obi-Wan, Finn, Poe Dameron and honorable mention to Din Djarin and Grogu

Hannibal: Hannibal, Will, Bev, Alana, Chiyoh

V - 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms

That’s hard

Doctor Who: thoschei ofc, gallifrey ot4.......... uuhh as you can see i don’t ship many pairings in the show

The X-Files: Mulder and Scully. And whatever Scully and Monica had going on because they definitively flirted

Star Wars: Poe/Finn, Han/Leia, whatever Han/Lando had going on too

W - 5 favorite ships and 5 kinks you like best for said ships

WHATVASHAJSKAJSA ok this is a little embarassing but I don’t have a lot of kinks for many ships... I guess I have some for thoschei like, choking, whipping, blindfolds/gagging, bondage, begging, biting, sem-public, phone sex, dirty talk, body worship, praise kink, etc. Alright alright I know it’s a lot but in my defense they've shown half of these on the show

X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE DEFENDING THEM

Doctor Who

Favorite character: ...I mean, it has to be the Doctor. He’s the embodiment of Chaotic Good, and he’s so entertaining and absurd and so deeply good at the same time. Even if there are regenerations I like less than others, I always love the Doctor.

Least Favorite character: ...Rose Freaking Tyler. I don’t talk about her much, because I don’t want to inadvertently start something with anyone who feels differently, but this is not a Rose-friendly space.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Canon-ish: Ben/Polly, Amy/Rory, Martha/Mickey. Non-canon: Harry/Victoria, Jenny/the son of Kate Stewart (he only barely exists in EU, but the idea of the Doctor’s daughter marrying the Brigadier’s grandson is just really cute to me)

Character I find most attractive: ...Hm. The Eighth Doctor, maybe?

Character I would marry: Harry Sullivan. He’s a sweet, gentlemanly dork of a Naval surgeon with traditional values--what’s not to love?

Character I would be best friends with: The Doctor. Not so much because he’s the character most like me, but because he’s very good at Being Friends With People.

a random thought: One thing I really love about the New Series is the increasingly consistent trend--especially in Moffat’s era, I think?--of explicitly treating the TARDIS as another character. It’s been there implicitly for a long time, but they made it much more canon and I appreciate that.

An unpopular opinion: Missy is not the Master, and I’ll never believe she is. This isn’t even about her gender, but about her whole personality.

My Canon OTP: Ian/Barbara, from the First Doctor’s era. This isn’t exactly controversial--I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything, in fandom or EU, where they weren’t happily together--but I love them.

My Non-canon OTP: Master/Clara... Which is entirely the fault of my sister’s fics. I wasn’t expecting to ship them!!

Most Badass Character: ...There’s so many to choose from. Aside from the Doctor, maybe Sarah Jane? Aside from being one of the greatest companions, she got her own spinoff show in which it was established that she’s been regularly saving the world on her own, she adopted two children and began mentoring three more in her fifties, and she was generally amazing for five seasons.

Most Epic Villain: ...The Master gets highest points for Presentation (as Megamind would say), and the Daleks are the most consistently menacing... But I think Rassilon scares me the most. He’s the founder of Time Lord society, and he’s evil.

Pairing I am not a fan of: The Doctor/anyone other than River, honestly. (Well, or his Gallifreyan wife from pre-canon days--I assume they were a good match, from what canon evidence we have)

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): ...A lot. Today, though, I’m going to say Sarah again. As said above, she’s a hero in her own right, and there’s no force in the universe that could stop her from having adventures. Reducing her to “female character pining after the Doctor and unable to get over losing him,” as they did in “School Reunion”, was a massive injustice to her character. (ESPECIALLY since their Classic relationship was not romantic. I mean, they’ve been shipped, of course, but their was nothing romantic in the writing or--IMHO--even the acting.)

Favourite Friendship: I think I’ve said this before, but the Doctor and the Brigadier. I love constant their friendship is, how much they’ve done for each other and respect each other, and how easily they fit back together every time they reunite.

Character I most identify with: ...I honestly don’t know. I love almost all of them, but I don’t think any of them click in quite that way, you know?

Character I wish I could be: Romana, maybe? She’s a Time Lady who traveled with the Doctor--that’s a pretty good deal!

Wodehouse Ship: I’m going to go with Mike/Eve here, for fun

When I started shipping them: As soon as the name “Jackson” appeared in Leave it to Psmith, I think. I trust and support Mike’s judgement. :P

My thoughts: I wish we’d, you know, seen them together. But I like that Mike has a wife he can take care of! I think that suits them both. (I also have a headcanon that Psmith went off--to the Drones, maybe?--and dug up dirt on Rollo, and that these discoveries were what pushed Mike to propose. Because he’s an honorable boy, and I think getting him to propose to an engaged woman would take some intervention from Psmith... Also I don’t like what we’ve heard of Rollo.)

What makes me happy about them: That they exist. That they got their farm, and that their best friends married each other, so the two couples can look after each other when they need to!

What makes me sad about them: No content. :(

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: ...I’ve never read any fic of them that wasn’t written by myself or one of this Tumblr microfandom, so... Nothing, really!

Things I look for in fanfic: Anything of them interacting with Psmith/Eve is especially fun. (Someday I’d like to try the scene where they find out Psmith and Eve are engaged. Because A) if they’re told soon enough, it would be the same meeting where they share the news that they got the farm, which sounds delightfully chaotic B) last they knew, Psmith and Eve hadn’t even met, and C) the second Mike heard they’d met at Blandings, he’d know Psmith was behind getting them the money. Somehow.)

My wishlist:

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: ...I’m sure there are other Wodehouse Protagonists who would suit them, but none come to mind. They’re good with each other.

My happily ever after for them: Hmm... For them to have lots of kids, and the Psmiths as neighbors, and play cricket with their combined families every summer. Margery can visit and be the fun aunt, and since they’re doing well financially maybe the Jackson parents will come live with them at some point? (I’d also like them to have a chance to help Psimth and Eve out of some significant trouble, since it’s usually the other way around... I don’t know what, though.)

Psych character: ...I’ll pick Henry, since I’ve been talking about him a lot lately

How I feel about this character: Good! He’s a good, though flawed, dad, and a good cop. (One of the few Lawful Goods in this cast, in my opinion.) He’s solid, and principled, and one of the few people who can really, truly keep up with/keep a hold of Shawn.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: His wife, I suppose? I don’t remember being a big fan of her, but he clearly still loves her, and I’m a sucker for “divorced couple reconciles” anyway... So yeah, Maddie.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Shawn, of course. Henry just... he built his whole life around raising his son, and it shows with him and with Shawn. They’ve both affected each other so much, and I love that the show just shows them being more openly important to each other as it goes on.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I’m not sure what’s “unpopular” here... But I think his training of Shawn was less about wanting him to be a cop, and more about giving Shawn A) something halfway constructive to do with his racing brain, and B) the tools to survive whatever trouble he'd get into in the future. Because, even then, Henry knew Shawn was never going to stay out of trouble.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish Shawn had told him he loved him out loud, to his face, which I don’t think quite happened. I’m pretty content with Henry’s content overall, though, I think.

Favorite friendship for this character: I’m going to cheat slightly and say Gus. It’s not exactly a friendship, but I love the implicit history there, and the way that Gus is practically his second kid and they both relate to each other as such. (I am also highly indignant that the “Henry & Gus” tag apparently doesn’t even exist on AO3... Distressing.)

My crossover ship: ...I got nothin. However, I have decided that in a Star Trek fusion AU (sort of a crossover!) Shawn’s mom would be a Vulcan. That’s the closest I’ve got.

1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

11. Who is your current OTP?

If I’m being perfectly honest, all my favorite ships are OC/Canon ships in various fics I’m reading. It’s not my fault if fanfic writers have more time to get me invested in ships than actual movies.

But my favorite canon MCU couple is definitely Pepperoni. Getting me to read a fic where one of them ends up with someone else would be a hard sell. There are a handful of authors I already follow that I’d give it a shot if they wrote it. But that’s a couple I don’t want to break up.

21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote?

Oh boy. So here we go. Back to Quizilla. Let’s see how much I can remember.

It was a Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic called “Shara’s Choice”. Shara was the OC main character. And I happen to remember that I originally planned to name her Sarah, only I mistyped the name, and then decided I liked the way “Shara” looked. She had existed in Ancient Egypt like all the other characters, but she somehow died tragically (I don’t remember how, but I’m pretty sure magic was involved?). She was reborn modern day, like all the other characters.

And I think…I think she was a retired secret agent? Which, you know, pretty impressive for a teenage girl.

Because of Quizilla’s format, I was trying to make it a “Choose Your Own Adventure” type story, and the choices that the reader made would decide who her ultimate love interest was, and what kind of ending she got. I think the options for her love interest was Yugi Moto, Seto Kaiba, and Bakura. So, yeah, three potential love interests.

And I think there was a subplot in there about Seto and Mokuba having had a sister that was adopted by Shara’s family? Possibly?

WAIT. I GOT SOMEONE TO MAKE A BANNER FOR THIS FIC. I THINK I STILL HAVE IT SAVED.

…okay, so it turns out I had several banners made, and uh. The quality of the banner is good, I’m not knocking the people that made them for me. But they include actual lines from the fic and it slapped me in the face with memories and now I’m crying, but here they are.

Full Chapter List Part 1 - Objects in Motion << Epilogue: God Only Knows

I realize there may only be a couple dozen people out there who have made it this far, and two of them are my parents, but if you are reading this, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking this journey with me and letting me show you my captain. I know he did things that are entirely unforgivable, that the circumstances cannot completely justify those actions, that he was as massively imperfect as a human can be, but I still love him.

I never set out to save him. I just wanted to tell his story and make sure he didn't die alone. I only saved him because there was no wiggle room in the way they showed his death. I thought they would blow up a ship with him upon it, a poetic mirror to the Buran, and I would happily place someone standing there beside him in that explosion in a spot the camera did not see, but there was no room in the picture they gave us.

So I found a workaround. Perhaps I have committed a cardinal sin of fandom, but I did it without compromising my integrity as a writer: every detail that went into creating the ultimate solution was already established either in this fanfic or in the show prior to the airing of Lorca's death in episode 13. (The most critical piece, null time, was miraculously posted the day before.)

There are still unanswered questions. Why was Mischkelovitz so certain she knew the solution? Was she right? What was the particle ray she used on the spores that turned them green? Did she succeed in what she was doing or die for nothing? If she transported Lorca as she intended, does he have all his appendages, or did she miss a few fingers and toes?

What was the friendship between Lalana and Saru like? Null time is easy enough to understand, but why, why, why the Triton? And why, John Allan, why did you do any of it, really?

What happened to everyone in the main timeline?

I intend to answer these questions. Not with another 400k word behemoth, with something much (much, much, MUCH) smaller and more focused. I don't need to rehash the events of this story, but I would like to show you the ultimate fate of the timeline and everyone in it. The version of the story Allan lived, the one that more perfectly aligns with the screen, the version that explains how this story came to be and how both stories end.

I also intend to record this story as an audiobook because most of what's written here, I spoke aloud as it was being written with voices for every character and I'd like to preserve that and allow anyone who wants to hear the story the same way I did as I wrote it.

I would like to thank a few of my favorite people: Allan (as John Allan), Gunvald (as Einar Larsson), Iam (as Milosz Mieszała), Sally (as Sollis), Zia (as Caxus), Mary (as Aeree), Greg (as Sarah Billingsley), Rana (as Da Hee Yoon), Will (as John Groves), and especially my brother, occasional cowriter, and better-or-worse half Simon (as Macarius O'Malley). I must also apologize to crew of the Buran. Da Hee, Reiko, Arzo, Ak'vek'mov, Levy, Carver, and more. I fell in love with you guys. I'm so sorry your fates were preordained. In some alternate universe, you're all alive and well. Da Hee and Reiko are raising their son, Arzo and Levy have their own commands, Ak'vek'mov is conducting a lului medical survey with the full consent of the lului, and Carver is flying starships with a pot of coffee brewing nearby. You were all amazing and I miss you. Every time I relive your adventures, it's like you're alive again. In that sense, you'll never die. Maybe you'll even turn up again in some other stories.

The characters, you see, are still alive in our imaginations and I have no intention of letting them fade away from mine any time soon.

Same as now I can say, in some sense, captain, you'll live on. In some universe out there you're still alive.

That's the universe I choose to live in.

Four Things that Would Make Labyrinth Fanfic A+ Just by Existing

(four items again just because of reasons!)

1. Worldbuilding By and large, Labyrinth fanfic writers are really good at letting Sarah’s Aboveground world grow as she matures. Often she has gone away to college, or traveled, or has settled in to a career of some kind that isn’t in upstate New York. However, the Underground suffers a lot. In some favorites such as Limbo, Fairest, and of course Tanglewood, we see the boundaries blurred and pushed in the Underground. In a land where anything can happen and nothing is as it seems, it’s a shame writers don’t explore it more. Where does Jareth go if he’s not in his own land? Who are his allies? His enemies? Who, or what, else exists around him...anything? Tell your own origin story, since it’s apparently changing anyway between the sequel manga and the prequel. 2. Jareth is an equal-opportunity lover A magic creature who lords over goblins falls in love with a human girl? He’s already crossing planes of existence and species. I’ve personally always had the feeling that sexuality in the Underground is a lot like the Sims: you can choose and do whatever you like but in the end it’s all just pansexual people yelling at each other and setting houses on fire. That to mean that there’s no question of orientation or preference, everyone is just as they are. 3. Sarah is also an equal-opportunity lover Give me your bi, pan, questioning, whatever Sarahs! Let her explore! There’s no way after having been so enraptured by a creature like Jareth with all the glitter, long hair, and bulge that she didn’t at least have a few wandering thoughts. Did she have a Katy Perry moment? Maybe she’s straight but gets all flustered if she meets anyone with crazy platinum hair. Also...stop it with Sarah always being a virgin but...that’s another topic for another day. 4. Non-Jareth/Sarah adventures with other creatures and friends I am still -- STILL -- waiting for the 100k epic Sir Didymus origin story. I know someone has it in them somewhere. There’s a smattering of Hoggle-centric or at least POV fic out there and it’s all pretty well entertaining, honestly. But I’d really love to see someone remix a fic “as told by...” Ludo? A goblin sentry? How did the False Alarms earn their place? Who knows! Without the creatures and general setting, Labyrinth would be a much more boring story...and honestly it would be pretty creepy and unnerving. But the charm that wins Sarah over isn’t Jareth, it’s all the people she encounters along the way. The Worm, even the Fireys got an invite to her victory party. Imagine life as the guards in charge of the riddle. Those characters are ultimately what really makes the story so relateable and believable--the unbelievable, fantasy characters. Explore them!

Pynch Fics (and I)

I just want to say that I realize that sometimes I'm kind of hard on fanfic, and on fandom in general. It's always been my calling card: prioritizing canon over fanon, rejecting everything I ever loved in fandom in a heartbeat if my enjoyment of canon becomes compromised by continued participation, etc. I've been especially hard on Raven Cycle fandom-- and fanon. I guess I feel a bit bad, because there's genuinely so much to appreciate. There's a lot of wonderful fanart, a lot more great fic than you'd expect in a fandom this size, and I've even been inspired to finish writing my own for the first time in ages, 'Ice Supernova'. There's a lot to be thankful for.

I've just been thinking about what a relief and release fanfic is. It's interesting 'cause I've never felt like The Raven Cycle 'needed' fic the way something like Sherlock does. To make it even more meta, BBC Sherlock is itself fic, which goes to show you that no fic can be enough by itself. No fic can 'fix' or replace canon. There's always something. Always something missing. Every fic gives you the limited canon/characterization vision of the author: no more, no less. Often enough, you can't even guarantee that. I certainly wouldn't want people to judge my understanding and vision of the books by that little Pynch skating AU fic. Even if you *are* writing a magnum opus, a lot of times it just doesn't get finished, or gets Jossed, or you're just a different person by the end, so it doesn't feel as satisfying years later. So what I'm saying is, the redemption of fanfic is in its *multiplicity*. No fic, no adaptation, no AU has to really bear the absolute responsibility. It's the gestalt of fic, the fanon that fandom creates-- and I endlessly harp on-- that is the masterpiece.

I love fanfic. I always have, ever since I was introduced to Star Trek at age 13 through the tie-in novels. They were so good, and I loved coming back to the characters over and over, way before I ever watched the show and actually saw them on-screen. I've loved many characters almost entirely or initially because of the fics I've read about them. It's good to remember that. I'm so grateful to the wonderful authors and fellow fans that have let me inhabit a world I love for just a little bit longer. And yes, sometimes it's helped me deal with things that didn't feel like enough, that have felt disappointing. Fic is always there, trying to make things right, all the AUs and all the fix-its and missing scenes and future fics bearing that burden together. And sometimes I get frustrated 'cause I'm so sure canon got it right in the first place, but that's the price one has to pay to see the wrongs righted and the holes filled in my heart.

In The Raven Cycle, I've mostly loved canon AUs and missing scenes. It feels a little wrong to have Adam and Ronan get together earlier than in canon, but many writers made it work. I love fics that take place post-TRK (usually during the first year of college) or pre-epilogue. There's plenty of room for more details and further adventures because canon left the door so open. A lot of writers have been careful and did justice to the characters. I'm happy to share some fics that have been memorable for me, and I hope I'll add to this at some point, too.

So, in no particular order:

We'll Never Be Those Kids Again, by okaynowkiss: and the Missing Scene Award for the TRK climax goes to... This One.

Takes place in the 24 hours after Gansey dies on the side of the road at the end of The Raven King. Ronan's going through a lot and Adam wants to be there for him. Also, everything made in a dream might be in trouble.

Tears and Vines, by adamganseys: and the Missing Scene Award for TDT goes to... This One.

The turn for Monmouth is about to come up when Adam speaks again. “Do you want me to drop you at Monmouth?” There’s a note of reluctance in Adam’s voice, and that’s when he realizes how very much he wants Ronan to come to his apartment with him, how much he needs his comforting presence after what just happened.

Ronan studies him in that intense way of his before replying, “I’d rather just chill at St. Agnes a bit, if that’s cool with you.”

(Or, my response to the prompt things you said when you were crying, where Ronan comes to Adam's apartment with him after Robert Parrish's trial)

Knights of Caledfwlch, by Incandescentflower: the One with the Fluff, and my Favorite Canon-based Plot

Adam and Ronan adjust to their new relationship and prepare for Adam to go off to college with a lot of adoring thoughts and making out. Also, some magic stuff happens. Steve/ Anything but Sarah

“I really don’t want to name her Sarah,” you say. The words are harsh, but it’s how you feel, and yet Steve looks like you slapped him in the face.

“Right,” he says, his whole body shifting like he’s closing up. “Any particular reason?”

You shrug. “I just don’t. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings,” you say. “But we both need to agree to her name right?”

He lets out a slow breath and shakes his head. “Oh so now you care about what we both agree to.”

Now it’s your turn to look like you were slapped. “I - I gave you a choice… I said you didn’t need to be involved.”

“Of course I have to be involved!” Steve shouts, making you jump back in fear.

“Steve…”

“You said we didn’t need protection! You even pushed to have sex in the first place when I wanted to go for a walk!”

“I don’t remember you telling me no,” you argue. “You said…”

Steve lets out a breath and shakes his head. “I want to be involved, but I don’t feel like I am. I don’t feel like you want this - at least not with me.”

“Do you wish I had an abortion?” You ask, your voice cracking a little.

“No. I mean… that’s not what I’m saying,” Steve says, clearly frustrated. “I wish … I wish we’d never had sex in the first place.”

You stare at him open-mouthed, not even sure what to say or how to interpret what he’s saying. Your hands protectively go to your stomach like you’re protecting the little bundle inside you.

Steve shakes his head and his face softens. “I’m sorry. I - that wasn’t… I didn’t mean that.”

“Why are you trying to hurt me?” You ask. “Is her name that important to you?”

Steve shrugs. “I’m just trying to feel like I’m involved here. Every step just feels like I’m on a ride I didn’t buy tickets for.” He sighs and shakes his head. “I feel like we’re on two different wavelengths. I’m trying to do the right thing by you, but I don’t know… maybe we need to stop kidding ourselves.”

“What are you saying?” You ask, your heart drumming heavily in your chest.

“I’m saying…” Steve sighs. “I’m saying that; I want to be a good father. I want to take care of her and make sure she’s safe and loved and protected. And I think the best way to do that is if we’re not together.”

It feels like the oxygen has been sucked from the room. A moment ago you were considering telling him you love him and now he wants to break up. He’s right - you are in two completely different places. “You want to break up because I don’t like the name you do?”

“No,” he says. “I want to break up because we’re not working on this as a couple and I worry that if we don’t do break up now, we’ll end up hating each other. We need to work together to make sure she knows we love her and that we’re here for her. I don’t think we can do that if we’re wondering how we feel about each other.”

You sigh and nod your head too exhausted to even bother fighting with him about it. “Fine. If that’s what you want - fine.”

“I’ll still do all the things you need from me. Doctors appointments, money. I’ll come and rub your back and feet if you need it. I just think… we need to try and build a friendship. Things happened too fast.”

“I know,” you say. “I’m sorry I ruined your life.”

“Sweetheart…” he says, reaching over the table to take your hand.

That is the gesture that sends you over. You pull your hand away, and get up, rushing out the door before he can see you crying. You’re not sure if it’s a good thing or not when he doesn’t follow you.

Everything is hard after the breakup. The two of you are awkward around each other and arguments start up at the drop of a hat. Neither of you can agree on a name and there are times you wish you had just said yes to Sarah to avoid all this drama. At other times you feel so spiteful and vindictive you consider not even letting him have a say about what the name will be.

The problem is - Steve Rogers is a good man when it comes down to it. If he wasn’t you wouldn’t have started all this to begin with. So as your pregnancy progresses and you see things like how he is still always there for you despite the pain and hurt feelings, and how he’s set up a beautiful nursery - it’s hard to stay angry with him. You both decide to let the pain and hurt go so you can both be the best parents you can be given the less than ideal circumstances.

You’re at home alone when your first contraction hits. To begin with, you aren’t even sure that’s what it is. You’ve had Braxton Hicks contractions and the first is mild and short. Even when your water breaks you question yourself. It’s not the big flood like on tv, but rather a slow trickle, and when it starts you wonder if you’ve wet your pants.

When your uncertainty moves closer to certainty you call Steve. He has stopped going on missions as it gets closer to your due date. He answers quickly. He always does when he’s not away on a mission, but as it got closer to the due date it would barely get a ring before he’d pick up.

“Hey,” Steve says as the call connects. “Is everything okay?”

It was his standard greeting since you broke up and to be fair, you didn’t call him unless you need something. “No… I mean… yes. I’m in labor. I think.”

“I’ll be right over,” Steve says. “Have you called the hospital?”

“No. I’m not sure if it’s it or not,” you say.

Steve chuckles. “It’s up to you, but maybe just call and see what they say,” he says. “I’ll be there soon.”

You hang up and call the hospital. They tell you to time the contractions and when they’re five minutes apart and lasting one minute or longer, to come in.

Steve shows up while you're having a contraction and immediately starts rubbing your back. You are grateful for it.

It turns out that Steve is the perfect birthing partner. He’s calm and attentive and can handle insults being hurled at him, even when they aren’t always accurate.

You stay at home for around seven hours, mostly just pacing through your contractions. When Steve says it's time, he drives you to the hospital where you’re in labor for another three. You spend a lot of time on the exercise ball or pacing. As it progresses you lose more and more clothes until you’re naked and not even caring who sees.

When she comes into the world, it’s screaming, and yet it’s the best noise you’ve ever heard. They put her on your chest and Steve cuts the cord. “Hey, little one,” you whisper, looking down at your daughter. “You made it.”

Steve comes closer and gazes down at his daughter. He smiles at you and runs his palm over her back. “You did it, mommy,” he says.

“I’m glad you were here,” you reply.

“Me too,” he says. You look from him back to your daughter. Things didn't work out how you had intended, but you were starting a whole new chapter now, and you hoped that you wouldn’t mess it up.
