an ask game for writers to procrastinate working on your WIP(s)

thanks for tagging me @bookish-bogwitch, @thewholelemon, @cutestkilla, and @noblecorgi!

1. 🦈Tell us the name of your/ one of your WIP(s): Currently, living, breathing, and eating my one and only WIP: The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch. Also, I am probably retiring after this fic because I do not think I can top it!

2. 🍄Describe your WIP/one of your WIP(s) in the format of “___ + ___ =___” Addie LaRue + SnowBaz = so much pain and angst

3. 🌍What tags or warnings will one of your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it? Period-typical homophobia, Implied/referenced DV, Blood and Injury, Death... I mean truly the works. This is SnowBaz in the darkest possible timeline.

4. 🧭An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)? At one point, I joked with @thewholelemon about naming it "Baz Pitch's 300 Year Long Grope-Fest" but for obvious reasons that title would really do a disservice to this fic (although it is sort of true).

5. ⚠️Which WIP you're most likely to finish or update next? Now that I've created a posting schedule for The Eternal Life of Baz Pitch, I want to stick to it. While I'm "done" drafting, I am still making a few big revisions to the last six chapters. I've also been re-reading the first chapters for continuity issues that may have cropped up now that I know how this ends. Either way, I can see the finish line.

6. 💾What is your document of your WIP/ a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as) It started out as "Addie LaRue Working Draft." Once the one doc got unwieldy and long, it spun out into multiple docs titled all sorts of things - mostly chapter numbers, but I do have one not as fun as it sounds doc called "Sex Playground." (ha!)

7. 🖍Post Any sentence(s) from your WIP. “Are you so naive as to think I cannot watch you whenever it pleases me, even if you cannot see me?”

8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP. I actually have SEVERAL scenes I scrapped...like pages and pages! Largely this is because I have a whole document titled "Voice," which served as a sandbox of sorts where I could play with every possible combination of POV, tone, and style before committing to the final version you see in the story now. There's even a scene in there told first-person Niall! (Bonkers.)

I also have a whole ACTUAL scene I'd love to include as an answer to this question because it was well-written, but I cut it because it made the plot unnecessarily complicated, was frankly too close to the original plot of Addie, and would have made my ending impossible. It is also--sadly--too big a spoiler to include here, so let me give you a few sentences from "Sex Playground" that will not be making the cut:

“Stay.” Baz pushes his hand into the center of Simon’s chest, pressing him back into the mattress. “I want to look at you.” Simon gives Baz a filthy smile. He can look all he wants.

9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet? I really want to write a canon divergence where Simon successfully but somewhat accidentally reveals Baz is a vampire fifth year, so Baz and the whole Pitch family have to flee from the Mage. I already have the "everybody finds out" scene written and the scene where the Mage realizes the Pitch family is gone, so I guess I have started it. But, I also have no idea where it's going or what it's about, so I haven't really accomplished anything. If anyone has ideas or wants to be a partner-in-crime on this, give me a little shout!

10. 🤡How many WIPS are you actively working on? Literally just this one. Again, I am retiring after this fic! (Or at least taking a very well-deserved break.)

11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now? Absolutely 100% it is writing the smut. Having never written any on-page sex means I'm figuring it out as I go. Lots of frustrated growls from me (not nearly as frustrated from Simon).

Boys Will Be Bugs by Cavetown - civil war Peter. just a crazy little guy, absolutely bonkers baby boy kicking super soldier ass.

all-american bitch by Olivia Rodrigo - homecoming Peter expected to be this tidy neighborhood hero for Tony but he's young and stupid and eager for action.

tolerate it by Taylor Swift - Homecoming Tony and Peter. Peter idolizing Tony and doing everything he can to prove himself and catch his mentor's attention, while Tony barely pays attention to him. "You're so much older and wiser and I, wait by the door like I'm just a kid" "I made you my temple, my mural my sky, now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life".

Reflections by The Neighborhood - same theme as tolerate it. "tried to put it out for you to get, could've should've but you never did" - Peter trying to warn Tony about what's going on but Tony not listening. Bonus "I see my reflection in your eyes" (I just wanted to be like you!).

Rose-Colored Boy by Paramore - Peter being this young optimistic hero, slowly losing that spark.

clementine by Halsey - general childish, stubborn Peter attitude. "I don't need anyone! I don't need anyone! I just need everyone and then some."

brutal by Olivia Rodrigo - Peter trying his best and losing so much of his normal teenage life to be the hero everyone demands, but he's never good enough.

All These Things That I've Done by The Killers - Peter coming to terms with the chaos and danger he causes others, begging for a mentor or a helping hand because he's in way over his head. "yeah you know you gotta help me out, oh don't you put me on the back burner" is so Tony coded in Homecoming. "I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" Peter has heart but he's only a hero by chance, he didn't ask for the fight.

this is me trying by Taylor Swift - Far From Home Peter reliving all his mistakes and thinking of the people he's nearly gotten killed, Fury berating him, telling Happy how he messed up. Him thinking about Tony a lot, and how he's failing to be the next Iron Man.

Gold Rush by Taylor Swift - this just makes me think about how enamouring and beautiful Peter is.

Social Cues by Cage The Elephant - Far From Home Peter. Literally that scene where Peter gets overwhelmed by the reporters, pressured and frazzled by the expectations of being the new biggest hero. Shy little guy in his Iron Spider suit.

Idle Worship by Paramore - Fury and so many others expecting the world of Peter when he's still just a kid who's expertise is stopping bike thiefs and helping elders cross the street. They set him so high on this pedestal that when he falls the impact will be so much harder.

The Kids Are All Dying by FINNEAS - Everyone turning against Peter because of Mysterio's lies. Peter frustrated they're so focused on him, just a kid who's trying to do good, that they're blind to the real problems. Everyone is so gullible and maybe Peter is second guessing being a hero considering how angry everyone is at him for it.

Figure 8 by Paramore - "all for your sake, became the very thing that I hate, I lost my way" this song is Peter's frustration at Mysterio and shield in general, how they took him and forced him to be someone he wasn't and how it backfired "I was only being kind but you mistook me for weak" Peter is far more trusting and forgiving than most, but once he's mad... his true strength shows.

Would've, Could've, Should've by Taylor Swift - Peter regretting trusting Beck. "If I was a child did it matter, if you got to wash your hands" Beck doesn't care that Peter is an innocent kid in this, only cares about his goal and hatred for Tony. "but lord you made me feel important, and then you tried to erase us" Beck made him feel seen and special in a time where no one else was (Peter had low self esteem and was easy to manipulate).

Why by Derivakat - another Beck and Peter angst theme (Mysterio is my fave villain sorry lol) "look at what you've done, is this what you call glory? do you still believe you're the hero of your story?" Beck has caused so much suffering just because of his grudge against a dead man. "you act like a judge enforcing your personal grudge. am I to pay for this war you've raised?" Beck admits that Peter is an innocent chest pawn in all this, and still Peter ends up losing the most.

Daylight by Taylor Swift - Peter and MJ anthem 🥺 finally seeing the great thing that has been right in front of him all along. Also- "I wounded the good and I trusted the wicked" hurting his friends because he trusted Mysterio. "Clearing the air I breathed in the smoke" Peter clearing his name from what Beck did to protect his friends, but he ended up poisoning himself (No Way Home ending).

because i liked a boy by Sabrina Carpenter - all because Peter trusted Beck he nearly destroyed the planet and then he lost everyone he loves. "now I'm a homewrecker I'm a slut, I got death threats filling up semi trucks. tell who I am, guess I don't have a choice. All because I liked a boy" change homewrecker and slut into menace and murderer and it's just like what the media is saying, sending Spider-Man constant hate and telling him who he is, and all is happening because Peter trusted Beck and gave him the power of EDITH.

What I'm Becoming by Cage The Elephant - Peter and May :(. "I'm so sorry honey, for what I'm becoming. Everything you wanted, seems so far from me. never meant to hurt you no, never meant to make you cry" May wanted Peter to be selfless and kind, to vouch for second chances even for criminals and villains. Now Peter is the one trying to take Green Goblin's life because he got May killed, and deep down he knows May would be disappointed.

my tears ricochet by Taylor Swift - No Way Home final battle and saying goodbyes. "you wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me... cause when I'd fight you used to tell me I was brave, and if I'm dead to you why are you at the wake. cursing my name, wishing I stayed, look at how my tears ricochet" MJ still wearing the necklace after forgetting. Desperate and making Peter promise he'll get her to remember, sharing tears. They're all haunted by someone they used to know. "I can go anywhere I want, anywhere I want just not home" is of course Peter being a free man but at the cost of losing everything he called home.

R.I.P. 2 My Youth by The Neighborhood - basically Peter losing all of his mentor's and support system, leaving school and getting a place of his own - the end to his youth. He steps fully into his role as Spider-Man and with it Peter Parker, the sweet naive kid he was, has died.

Making the Bed by Olivia Rodrigo - "push away all the people who know me the best, but it's me who's been making the bed". Even though it was Peter's decision to erase his name and protect the people he cared about, he hates going back to that dingey apartment all alone each day. "another thing I ruined, I used to do for fun" is about how bittersweet being Spidey is now.

Cigarette Daydreams by Cage The Elephant - "cigarette daydream, you were only seventeen. So sweet with a mean streak" this song's vibes are sweet boy beaten down, still trying to remain gentle in the face of violence :( Peter looking for reasons to remain good while everything crumbles around him.

Your Best American Girl by Mitski - "you have so much to do, but I have nothing head of me" Peter to his friends. He knew being Spider-Man he'd never have a normal life, so he decided to let them go instead of dragging them down with him. "you're the one, you're all I ever wanted I think I'll regret this" is Peter in that coffee shop making the final decision to leave them.

Happy Now? by FINNEAS - Peter's journey as Spider-Man, a post No Way Home Peter reminiscing about his career. I love the line "always such an anxious child, never wild, always worrying". Makes me think about homecoming Peter and how he was giving up all his clubs and time with his friends to be a superhero just because he felt a responsibility (civil war Peter telling Tony why he does this speech).

The Plan (Fuck Jobs) by The Front Bottoms - sardonic Peter, bitter and sarcastic post No Way Home. Him vs. the daily bugle, a broke and mentally unstable young adult. Comic Peter vibes.

Ya'burnee by Halsey - Peter thinking about MJ and how badly he wants to confess to her again who he is and why he loves her. They had so little time to be a couple together, immediately sweeped into a media circus and having their lives endangered time and time again. This song is just a Peter Parker open heart surgery.

I miss you, I'm sorry by Gracie Abrams - bittersweet anthem to Peter MJ and Ned ending their friendship. "nothing happened in the way I wanted... I don't want go think I'll make it worse, everything I know brings me back to us" :(

Matilda by Harry Styles - "you talk of the pain like it's all alright, but I know that you feel like a piece of you's dead inside" Peter is such an optimist. He left that coffee shop with a smile for his friends getting into MIT, but he doesn't allow himself to feel grief for that life he was supposed to have too. I think he deserves to feel his sadness and understand it wasn't his fault, that nothing is wrong with him. "you don't have to be sorry for leaving and growing up/for doing it on your own" I hope he doesn't regret his choices, and that things will get better for him.

From Strangers to Soulmates

Robaire Dumont went inside the bar to clear his head with shades and a hat on to keep anyone from noticing him. He sat down at the bar and waited on a bartender.

Robaire sighed deeply. “Damn it.”

A pretty girl walked over to Robaire and greeted him from behind the bar. “Hi, welcome in. What can I get for you?”

Robaire looked up with sad eyes. “I’m…not sure.”

The pretty girl looked at him concerningly and then analyzed him. “Hmm. How about I surprise you?”

Robaire couldn’t look at the girl and nodded, not really in the state of mind to think about anything. The girl grabbed a glass and made Robaire a Martini.

She sat the glass down in front of him with a smile. “Here. You look like a Martini kind of guy, though I can’t really see you with that hat and shades.”

Robaire grabbed the drink “Thanks..”

“Anytime,” The girl replied.

Robaire drank his drink and the girl looked at him with worry.

“You know, I can tell when someone’s sad without knowing them,” The girl mentioned. “What happened?”

Robaire sighed. “A girl.”

“Ah, so a heartbreak?” The girl looked Robaire up and down. “I’ve met a lot of guys and not a lot of good ones. Most guys I knew would have gotten dumped by a girl and moved on to the next one like it was nothing.”

Robaire slowly looked up at the girl with wide eyes.

“The fact that you’re here tonight, dwelling on the fact that you lost the girl you cared about means that you really valued her,” The girl said. “You must be a really great guy.”

Robaire looked at the girl with sparkles in his eyes. “I, uh…thank you. That means a lot.”

“No problem. It looks like you needed it-”

“Gogo! You can head home now!” A guy yelled from the back.

“Okay!” Gogo yelled back.

“Are you leaving?” Robaire asked.

“Yes. I have some things to take care of.” Gogo grabbed her things and prepared to leave.

“Oh! Before you go, let me pay for my drink,” Robaire said as he got out his wallet.

“No need. It’s on the house,” Gogo assured.

“Are you sure?” Robaire asked.

“I’m sure. See you later.” Gogo waved at Robaire as she left.

After Robaire watched Gogo leave, he then looked down at his drink and formed a small smile on his face.

…

“C’mon, man, you should just forget about her,” T said over the phone. “You’ve been bonkers all day.”

“I know, but…she broke up with me. It’s not easy,” Robaire replied.

“Yeah but she’s not worth it.” T crossed his arms. “I never really liked her, anyway. She ignored my compliments.”

Robaire chuckled while he opened his fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. “Thanks, T. Also, why aren’t you asleep yet? We have to get up early tomorrow for rehearsals and to work on our song.”

“I tried to! But I had to go to the bathroom, then my feet walked to the kitchen, then my hands grabbed some snacks. Now, I’m on the phone with you. Blame anything but me,” T reasoned.

“Right.” Robaire sighed. “Anyway, I’m gonna go. Thanks for cheering me up. See you tomorrow."

“Bye, Robaire!” T hung up the phone.

After talking to T, Robaire sat down on the couch and started writing down ideas for their next song. After almost an hour, Robaire realized something.

“Shoot, I forgot that I needed paper towels and milk.” Robaire got up from the couch, grabbed his things and put on a disguise.

He left his apartment and headed to the convenience store down the street. On his way there, he ran into someone.

“Crap, I hope I didn’t leave my wallet.” Gogo came speed walking up behind Robaire while she rummaged through her purse. “I really don’t want to go back home and-”

Gogo bumped into Robaire’s back, almost making him fall but Robaire caught himself quickly. He then turned around to see that it was the pretty girl from the bar earlier.

“Oh, I’m so sorry! Are you okay-” Gogo stopped herself once she realized who it was. “Oh, you’re the guy from the bar earlier, right? The one who I made the Martini for?”

“Y-yeah. Your name’s Gogo, right?” Robaire asked.

Gogo nodded. “How did you know?”

“I heard someone call your name from the back of the bar earlier.” Robaire scratched the back of his head. “Thanks for earlier, by the way. I was feeling kinda down.”

“It’s no problem, really. Are you feeling better?” Gogo asked.

“Not..really. I’m trying to, though. What you said earlier really helped,” Robaire replied.

“I’m glad. By the way, I never asked you but what’s your name?” Gogo wondered.

“It’s Robaire.” Robaire put out his hand for Gogo to shake. “Nice to meet you.”

“Likewise,” Gogo said while she shook his hand. “I see that you’re wearing a hat and shades again. Any reason why?”

Robaire’s eyes widened, thinking of what to say. “Um..”

“You don’t have to tell me. I was just wondering but I don’t need an answer.” Gogo looked down at her wrist. “It’s getting late. I should hurry back home to get my wallet if I want to make it in time.”

“Oh, okay.” Robaire looked Gogo up and down. “I guess I’ll…see you again sometime. Maybe we’ll bump into each other again.”

Gogo chuckled. “Maybe. I do hope so. Anyway, it was nice to see you again. Bye now.”

“Same here. Bye...” Robaire once again watched as Gogo left.

Robaire smiled to himself as he continued to walk to the convenience store.

It's finally here! Happy (late) Valentine's Day! I hope you all will stay for the whole story. It's two Sectors long (Sectors = Seasons, acts, etc.) with an epilogue at the very end. It's a drama/romance, so it will be pretty interesting. I will update every 2-4 days, so stay tuned 📲

summary: after a particularly rough day on set, elvis takes it upon himself to rent an entire movie theater out to watch disney movies with you. fandom: elvis presley | elvis ( 2022 ) | austin butler rating: t for a might bit of swearing i suppose pairing: elvis presley x female reader word count: 988 warnings: mention of stress. mention of sadness. elvis being extra. mention of walt disney. author’s note: happy 88th birthday to our favorite man, y'all! first off thank you for the request anon and thank you for making it before his birthday so i could have a little fluff piece to post vs any smut or grand epics i've got up my sleeves. y'all might have to suspend your disbelief a little since film and movie houses did things a certain way but i needed something that wasn't me attempting- and likely fumbling- a modern elvis take. ( seriously @headfullofpresley did some flawless work on that front so go check that out ) but while all the tech was available for him to perhaps have the movies on tape, he would have had to have something to tape it from and if i do remember right when it comes to disney and their vaults and every other thing that is a harder ask than you think. also put this as 60s elvis though trust me y'all it was hard to resist doing big daddy or even widdle 50s baby elvis. choose austin or real elvis for this i am not picky, i truly just wanted to use the robe gif while i am also in a robe writing this.

You are used to Elvis and how sometimes he can get in a mood, after all, you've been with him through a surprising amount of issues that instead of making the two of you pull apart had kept you together. Pulled you closer together, even, and yet sometimes he had a way of surprising you, a way of doing something so off the wall and minorly bonkers that you wonder just what in the hell had gotten into him. This was one of those times. It's not that he hasn't done it before, hasn't rented out a whole theater so the two of you and the Memphis Mafia could just enjoy some pictures all without having to be interrupted by fans that Elvis adores but can also be a bit- a lot- much.

It's more the timing that gets to you, since there was about as much of a lead up or a warning as a sudden thunderstorm in the South. Hell, even the time he chose to do it was a new one since normally it would be a situation that only happens in the daytime. Still, you're not complaining, it's sometimes incredibly tricky to actually find the time to enjoy the company of your boyfriend especially when he's busy filming. If he wants to pick you up in one of his cars and take you to a movie theater well you'll allow it, you'll take it.

Entering the actual theater, you're struck by the fact that there is the barest of staff and only Sonny for a bodyguard there. This was yet again a shift from the normal way he would go about this sort of thing but it was fine, in fact it was a little better than fine you thought as you allowed Elvis to pull you closer to him as he grabbed popcorn for the two of you and some Pepsis among other things.

The auditorium where you and Elvis would be watching whatever planned movie or movies he wanted to is already a little dark but you see what looks like a small little picnic set out on the ground complete with enough pillows to rival even the comfiest couch or bed in Graceland or in California. You can't help but turn to him before even starting to sit down. "Alright, E, what's this about?"

Elvis for his part instantly deflates at the question, it was easy to tell you everything was fine and act his normal way when he doesn't want to worry you. When he didn't want to worry you until you had both settled down and were relaxing. He should have remembered you know him as well as anyone ever has or probably will. His answer comes after a long sigh.

"Had- It was a rough day on set, baby. Stunts were awful, kept messin' up my damn lines, and I jus'- wanna jus' curl up wit' my baby, my darlin' and forget all of it happened. Wanna relax here wit' ya and watch some silly fun movies. Got 'em to find some real old ones, asked Mr. Disney himself for 'em."

Your eyes widen at the last statement, momentarily forgetting that yes, your boyfriend is just that famous that he can casually ask Walt Disney for film reels of his films. A beat passes before you allow yourself to smile gently at Elvis, taking the drinks and popcorn before motioning for him to sit down. "You first then. My head in your lap for the first picture, and then your head in mine until we fall asleep, hm?"

At your response you see Elvis's face light up like a young boy on Christmas or on his birthday. It's as if just the mere idea of what you propose has him giddy and releasing all the tension that was inside of him from the day's events. This is what you loved about Elvis- how he'll help everyone he can and try and make them feel alright and happy to the point of sometimes hurting himself mentally and physically. But when you do it for him? Oh, it's like you've done him the greatest honor on the planet. He doesn't waste a minute settling down on the ground, his back leaning up against the pillows as he lets out a long groan at finally being able to just sit and relax. A smile soft and gentle graces your features as you hand him back the drinks and popcorn and settle down next to him, laying down so that your head rests comfortably in his lap.

"Tell me you've got Mary Poppins first, I've wanted to see that again so badly." You ask as his hand moved to try and fiddle with your hair, almost as if to calm him more than just your presence did.

His blue eyes twinkle when you ask the question full of mirth and sneakiness that have you mildly concerned for just a brief moment before he answers. "Ya jus' gonna have to watch and find out, aren't ya?"

Your eyes narrow before you pull him down to your face for a soft kiss. "I guess I am, Mr. Presley. Hopefully you picked good ones or I'm gonna be the one leaving sad and stressed out."

His laugh- the laugh he's needed to have all day rings out as the movie starts to play. "Trust me baby, you'll be fine. Picked our favorites, not just mine."

Mary Poppins was the third picture and while you both did try and stay awake, truly you did, you both found yourself drifting off to the song Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as you stroked Elvis's hair in between bites of the little picnic he had made. The theater let you both stay, sending home their workers after they had cleaned up the front. After all, who was going to wake up the Elvis Presley and his girlfriend when they looked that peaceful together?

I’ve been rewatching Family Ties (thanks again for showing me where!) and noticed something about Alex’s character that i don’t care for/think you have touched upon.

What are your thoughts on his views of women?The advice he gave Jeff on his date with Mallory appalled me. Do you think it’s just a product of the time- how right leaning people were expected/did to treat women? Or is it something deeper? Yeah, so, a lot of the words that come out of Alex's mouth regarding women are 😬😬😬

I can't recall the exact advice you're referring to, but I do know it's bonkers. Something about how women want a man to make all her decisions or something? Boss her around and take charge? It's honestly not only some of his worst advice, but I also think it's one of the more outrageous things he says in regards to women out of the whole series.

It's especially weird considering he's giving advice on how his sister should be treated by Jeff! And we know that, while Alex isn't always the nicest to Mallory, he loves her very much and wants to protect her. I mean, there's an entire first season episode centered around Alex losing his mind over Mallory going out with a guy who Alex doesn't like or trust. He's so worried about this guy taking advantage of Mallory and not treating her right, then he goes and gives bananas advice to Jeff. So...what's the deal?

Honestly, I don't know, lol. If I had to guess, there are probably several different factors at play that contribute to those moments Alex says Horrible Things.

1. He operates with a set of standards and values from way before his time. The thing is that Alex isn't even a product of his time—a lot of the opinions he holds would be considered outdated in the 80s by the majority of people, regardless of political leaning.

I can't for the life of me remember the episode or the exact quote, so I'm going to butcher it I'm sure, but there's a scene where Alex is lamenting how no one holds the same values he does, and he and Steven have an exchange like this:

Alex: "I should have been born in the 40s."

Steven: "Even then, you'd be a little conservative."

Alex: "The 1740s."

Steven: "....Even then, you'd be a little conservative."

It's something like that. If anyone knows what episode this is from or what the exact line is, lmk because it's one of my favorites.

2. Alex is an extreme black and white thinker. I think this is the number one trait of his that impacts him the most across the board. So many of his problems boil down to him just not seeing nuance. It's not that he's unwilling to. The guy just can't.

It makes Alex very rigid in his thoughts on things, and that absolutely spills over into situations like when he gives advice to Jeff or voices any other wild opinion. He's going to automatically go to the extremes because that's all he can wrap his head around. In a relationship, men should have all the control. They should make the decisions and say specific things and so on. It then leads him to make generalizations about women and their roles.

I think he also finds some security in these thoughts, honestly. Alex clings to facts and things that he feels are concrete and reliable. We also know that he has a very hard time processing and acknowledging his emotions. Putting people into two neat piles is comfortable for him, and anything that doesn't fit into either of those piles is too overwhelming. Alex's world needs rules for it to feel stable to him. Unfortunately, a lot of those rules are...not so great.

3. Shock-value: This is more about Alex the TV show character rather than the "real life" in-universe Alex Keaton, but still. A good deal of his character, especially in the earlier seasons, hinged on him saying or doing things that got a reaction from the audience. You can't have a show about ex-hippy, progressive parents without someone for them to knock heads against. The early episodes in particular seemed to really lean into this, and I feel like he gets toned down slightly as the series goes on? Don't get me wrong, it doesn't go away, but he does grow.

• The "Ladies Man" episode has him realizing that, while he may not support a particular movement, he absolutely respects the rights of the women in the movement. Him jumping up to defend the woman being heckled by a guy, and then his little speech to the women at the end are two of my favorite Alex moments.

• After a very difficult adjustment period when he gets a new job and learns his boss is a woman, Alex ends up really respecting her and becoming friends with her. (Wow, this ep is uncomfortable for the first half, though!)

• Ellen in particular has an impact on helping Alex to see those "in-between" areas, in my opinion. Some heart to hearts with Elyse help as well, and it's clear through the series that Alex loves and respects his mother a great deal.

Idk if this response was coherent, but there you go, haha. Alex is such a complicated character, and whenever I write about him, I feel like I'm trying to untangle a gigantic mess of yarn. But I do love him! Sometimes he is a menace, though!! He should, perhaps, simply keep his mouth shut a lot of the time.

(Also, Steven and Elyse don't discipline him ever, so it's partly their fault if we're being real here)

ok this has me curious! id love to know when wukong abandons macaque first, cause i personally can't think of the time he does that. (i know tone is hard to come across via text so i want to make it clear im being 100% genuine here).

based on all the time we know wukong left macaque, he always came back to him and his intentions for leaving were to protect macaque and the monkeys on flower fruit mountain. when he left to train with subodhi, he came back after his training. we also never see macaque show any disdain for this or claim that was wukong abandoning him with the action.

then, wukong goes to the celestial realm and works as the stable boy before he gets super drunk and petty and then goes back to flower fruit mountain. macaque never shows any anger over this either, so i don't think that's abandonment.

after, wukong and the brotherhood attack the celestial realm and wukong is captured and put into the furnace and then forced under the mountain. i don't think wukong's capture counts as abandonment, especially since wukong makes it super clear that he does not want to be under that rock.

originally i thought macaque didn't know about wukong's capture like azure and the others, which could be a reasonable conclusion for him to come to; that wukong abandoned him for the celestials, but we know that macaque knows wukong was captured. macaque even visits him under the mountain. that's when macaque severs their ties and leaves wukong trapped.

also yes........ yes..!!! mk & mei are the wukong & macaque narrative parallels.... i love storytelling

its less about "macaque having to bail wukong out and indanger himself over wukong's problems" but more of like, wukong and macaque did the exact same thing, which was attacking the celestial realm. that's why wukong got caught. it's not just macaque, azure, peng, bull king and yellowtusk have some sort of moral responsibility in a way to at least try to help wukong, because all of their combined actions led to wukong taking the punishment for all of them.

i mean, sure, macaque has no reason or responsibility to bail wukong out if you look at it from that scene alone, with the "you dont owe anyone anything" mindset. but considering the other things we know, like how macaque was apart of the attack and supported wukong and fought along side him, there's a bit of a moral obligation to help wukong out since macaque's apart of the reason why wukong was captured.

#This post almost has the opposite problem of ''Wukong is villainzied while Macaque is a baby boy'' like#Wukong wasn't a good person either (they both suck(ed))#But he changed

HAHA lol sorry, that wasnt my intent. i want to make it clear that yeah, wukong wasnt a good person either! but i think the major distinction is that he wasnt a good person, past tense. in the show currently, wukong's a pretty alright guy, and the journey to the west helped him grow into a better person. i jsut feel it isn't necessary to mention wukong's terrible traits from the past because they arent... relevant to him in the current tense. that, along with the fact that the fandom keeps bringing it up, im focused more on mentioning macaque's terrible actions instead of wukong's because macaque is still acting that way while wukong grew as a person hundreds of years before canon. no reason to mention the terrible past of someone who's already made up for it, that kind of thing.

i feel like thats a misinterpretation of season 2 and wukong's actions, because the reason wukong "abandons" mk is to keep mk out of danger. wukong's objective is to find a way to defeat the lady bone demon without having to drag mk into it, because he feels mk isn't ready for that kind of large battle yet. he isn't leaving mk behind to go look for more power for himself, he's leaving mk in a safe place while he goes to deal with the main threat to keep mk from getting involved. he isn't quick enough, but the point still stands.

macaque steps in and even admits in the shadow play episode that he only came by to torture mk for fun ("i was gonna do the whole watch the hero be tormented by their own mistakes thing..." is what he says, which is funny because that's really relevant to wukong's character too haha).

#SWK is making the same mistake he always has. And then MK in s2 is ALSO making that same mistake#And Macaque had to be a loser about it but it is very interesting to see it from his pov.#He steps in when MK is acting that little bit too much like Wukong in all the wrong ways. (2x07 4x09)

and you've got a point! wukong has a habit of shouldering everything himself and believing he has to be the one to fix everything, since he has the most abilities and powers out of everyone... *gestures vaguely* alive, lol. that's why he keeps secrets throughout s2-3, because the way he deals with large scale threats is by keeping his cards close to his chest. given his past, i don't blame him

so true, too, cause mk's going down that path of self isolation like wukong has already done. mk's trying to spare his friends from his "burdens" (his trauma with lbd in s2 and his trauma from azure lion and the scroll in s4) and by doing so he shuts down and keeps to himself. macaque interprets this as him "abandoning his friends", but that's because macaque's a projector LOL. we already know he does that constantly. i find it interesting too, cause macaque is somehow the most empathetic person in the cast but uses that as a way to drag people down to his level, its rlly fun. i like macaque a lot

i'll be real, i don't think macaque steps in because he genuinely wants to help mk, it's more like he sees mk (season 2 specifically here) as a smaller, weaker wukong that he can actually punch around. he knows if he tried to mess with the real wukong he'd get his ass handed to him, so he goes for the easier target. in season 4, his perspective is different but it still isn't 100% in mk's favor. and also imma be real his advice was butt booty dog water bHKBHADBHKAHAH

side note that im not able to articulate that well because its late but it moderately fits this topic: macaque uses shadow play as partially a way to continue placing doubt in mk's mind about wukong. macaque has a vendetta, and so he thinks everyone else should hate wukong too, no matter how wukong acts now. macaque practically refuses to accept wukong's changed because that would mean macaque would have to self reflect and realize that he isnt all that like he acts like he is. he's very self righteous and tries to put down mk while also placing doubt and manipulating mk into disliking and not trusting wukong. he does this like every chance he gets in season 3, also

also i think that's a pretty cool way to look at it, and i def see what you mean. mk's good nature and desire to help rubbing off on macaque when wukong's couldn't is a very cool way to look at things, and also it slots into canon very nicely. macaque won't listen to wukong, mainly because they're so connected and all those centuries of baggage (six eared "i want the old wukong back and i also blame him for everything that goes wrong" macaque), but having someone new who also has some stake in their lives (wukongs successor) be the one to tell him Stop Being Weird and having it work, its very interesting.

so true! lego monkie kid's s1-3 message of the world being fine just the way it is because there's good people in it is what made me fall in love with the series at first. and also how it shows how people live their lives and keep moving despite the hardships of the world is very nice. me like. and yeah! macaque's "look out for number one" mentality is very nice and i like how that fits into his and wukongs characters. its very night and day (HA get it). wukong tries to look out for everyone else while macaque is only interested in looking out for himself. its cool , i like that. especially because it relates back to their original versions in the original story, where macaque represents the dark desires of the mind like his selfishness and spitefulness and wukong kills him as a sign of overcoming those desires and instead choosing the path towards enlightenment and doing good for others and the world.

macaque has a habit of forming full opinions and thoughts on people without properly knowing them and then sticking to those thoughts for the rest of time, not considering their ability to grow and change. mk constantly makes him have to come to terms with the fact that he is wrong and its so awesome. especially because we all know daaamn well that he saw himself in the "mei is my best friend, im not going to leave her when she needs me!" moment. its really good

yeah its super wild. a lot of ppl (esp in this fandom, i havent seen it this bad since like voltron i think and i wasnt even apart of that fandom) believe that to like a villain there has to be some reason why the character is secretly "the good guy" or something, because if they like a straight up bad guy then it means theyre a bad person, when in reality its just relating to the conflicts that those "bad guys" represent and stuff. idk its wild out here i have never seen people jump through so many hoops to justify why they like a villain. they dont have to be secret good people, they can be bad and you can like them because of that. like, one of my fav characters from modern cartoons is emperor belos from the owl house and that guy is like basically pure evil LOL

just going to. pretend i'm not at all concerned that our flag means death isn't going to acknowledge that stede leaving in act of grace was definitely a trauma response and that the amount of blame placed on him is like at least a Little unfair

the guy has severe self-image issues and a guilt complex the size of the seven seas. and his childhood bully, who makes him feel inadequate just by Being There, kidnapped him at literal gunpoint and managed to find all the things stede feels guilty about and, in stede's mind, affirmed them. this is all right after having his whole life thrown upside down via getting captured by the english, finding out his family thinks he's dead, and figuring out that he's got big feelings for a man, and those feelings are returned.

that is. So Much for Anyone to deal with, and considering how autistic-coded stede is? yeah it makes sense he shut down. even if some of the emotions are positive, they're still Very Big and Compounded By The Bad Ones. and his safe space on the revenge is not an available option, so he goes home to a) deal with a large part of the guilt consuming him and b) be in a place that is familiar, that he knows how to exist in, even if it's not an especially happy existence. everything is changing, he is being faced with even more change, and he is being overwhelmed by like 237 different humongous emotions. he is not thinking it through when he leaves. he walks home barefoot. stede "ooh, do you have any blankets that are less scratchy?" bonnet walks home barefoot. it's so bonkers out of character that the only explanation i can conceive for it is essentially Fugue State

obviously him leaving hurt ed. and ed is allowed to be upset about that. someone's actions being the result of trauma and mental health issues does not negate the affect their actions have on the people around them. but like.... i feel like there is a level of understanding that stede should get here.

there's always the possibility that the show intends to actually deal with all this, and the reason they haven't is they're trying to properly portray stede's headspace and aforementioned mental health issues! it is very fair to say that stede would bottle all that up because he is also placing much of the blame on himself for what happened and isn't going to just, allow himself the leniency of fully explaining the Why it happened.

anyway. this isn't like, a new take, but i needed to get it out there. as someone with my very own autism and guilt complex, stede is a very special character to me and the uncertainty of how this is being handled is Capital B Bothering me!

I might not understand it personally, but I’ve read that, for some writers, it can be tough, work stolen or perhaps feeling unappreciated, or in other different way, and I wanted to let you know that you, as an individual, and as a writer, are very much appreciated by your audience. Side note in something more happy, lol—in ‘AYW’, when Reader is married to Eddie and they already have Eliza, what do you imagine Reader’s profession? Stay-at-home mom and/or work-at-home mom or Reader works outside their family home? And will you, might possibly, write about Reader’s profession or anything outside her family life? Only as a suggestion, I don’t want you to feel rushed or pressured. 🩷

Sometimes being a writer isn’t the easiest and I feel like every writer goes through their periods of self-doubt and wondering if anyone actually cares what they post—and I’m no exception. So this message brought me so much peace and joy today, it’s as if you knew what I needed to hear.

I try and stay out of the toxicity as much as I can. I’ve never been one who likes to see conflict happen, let alone be a part of it. My experience on this app has definitely been positive for the most part! True story: I never had a best friend in my entire life until I joined the Eddie Munson writing fandom. Now for the first time, I do, and it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.

Now onto your AYW question! I have intentionally never given reader a profession, or even a major in college, because I wanted people to be able to project their own interests and passions onto her. Personally, I see her taking time off after Eliza is born, maybe going down to part time. Later down the line, maybe she makes the choice to go back to work full time or to become a full time stay-at-home mom. Neither option is the wrong one and Eddie will be behind her no matter what she chooses.

I would definitely be open to writing about things outside of reader’s family life! I don’t have anything particular in mind right now, but I am always, always, always looking for requests in the AYW-verse. I also truly love answering questions like this as well because, one, the fact that anyone cares about this story and these children who have sprung forth from my mind feels bonkers to me, and two, because it gets me thinking more about the characters and story as well! Any questions, any requests, I’m more than happy to have them in my inbox at any time 🥰

TV (Alex G) - adrien’s relationship with his parents! especially with emelie just sort of being gone? and he never gets to have that closure? ESPECIALLY WITH HER BEING AN ACTRESS?? The Wolf (Fever Ray) - i love this song for chat blanc so much! (here is a drawing i did with lyrics from it!) I just am so obsessed with the vibe and tone, how deep and echoey it is, but with the intermittent hollers! it gives a very specific feeling, I love it. “And it’s poison in his blood. Big fire, big burn, into the ashes and no return” just like a perfect reference to everyone being turned into literal ash! it works so well with the chaotic, destructive nature of blanc.

Shadybug

DICTATOR (REI AMI) - i think the general vibe of the song is so fitting for her! especially the really direct transition to a much softer and emotional tune/lyrics! RAAAA it’s just so telling of how she makes shadybug into this terrifying powerful figure that can and will hurt anyone in her way when she’s just marinette, this lonely teenager with one too many problems and a shitty/dangerous coping mechanism! “I am not your queen, i’m your dictator. bend the fucking knee, yeah bitch, that was an order! what you say to me, huh? bitch speak louder! you know i reign supreme” it’s just screams shadybug to me. also hehehehe reign supreme get it

I Love You Too (Peter McPoland) - i’m a sucker for this man’s music he makes some bangers but yeah this song it just screams adrinette to me. especially post season five, seeing them get to explore starting a relationship together and navigate their own love!! also just really shows how devoted adrien is to loving marinette, how he holds her to no expectations, values her comfort and happiness above all else during their interactions LIKE GOD HE LOVES HER SO MUCH HES WILLING TO SIT AND WAIT AND LOVE HER IN SILENCE UNTIL SHES READY FOR IT TO BE AS LOUD AS IT FEELS!! Finding each other, making this connection and this safe space with so much warmth and care between them that it grows from just mutual support to adoration. Vampire Empire (Big Thief) - tbh i’m not like 100% sure what about this song is so entirely marichat to me but. it is. More angsty, it makes me think of marinette and chat trying to foster a romance between them but it just tasting… stale? like a dead plant drowning from being overwatered. “the milk has just expired, all the leaves are dead. I’m not quiet, you’ve been quiet, just receiving what you said.” They do want each other, and there’s such intense love between them, but it just always feels like they’re going about it the wrong way. “Where you can’t seem to hold me, can’t seem to let me go, so I can’t find surrender, and I can’t keep control”

Sports (Beach Bunny) - Ladybug getting to explore Adrien’s hobbies with him as they get close! spending her time with him, learning any new skill he’s willing to teach just to make him happy “if you feel lonely, I could be lonely with you! Ooh! Oh! Hiii, and sure- but I have a lot of things about them so I'll probably just get the basics. And no, I did not know about that!? That's interesting, thank you! I'm also biting you for asking this (affectionately) going insane

Sorry this is so long, and it doesn't really scratch most of the lore for them 😬

Also, let me know if anyone wants the picrew I used ^^ I may of went overboard here hahahah~!

Most of my idol unit were from when I first got into enstars, so some lore got lost- which sadly means that Daiki, my youngest and mint idol, is put on the backburner until I can figure out what to do with him. (I sadly also forgot his last name as well, and I'm not even sure if Daiki is his real name either)

Also the oc foreign idol unit I have is called "Buskin and Socks", very heavy motifs with theater and deals with comedy/tragedy (hence the name). Each song was supposed to tell a story with character roles that each member would play.

Also some old art of Daiki as well!

Daiki: tooth obsessed big little guy. was supposed to be the youngest of the unit. He was supposed to be the pure knight, and was a semi-foil to Sierra (The double faced queen) I ended up dropping him, but his concept will probably be used for later.

Sierra Rivera: transfem. (18) shes 5'11. She/her user. I'm still working on her bc I'm not really used to having a meanish character. She comes off across as flirty and cute, but is kinda just manipulative and just likes to leave an impression. Attention seeking in a way as to never be forgotten. Slightly murderous, hasn't murdered anyone yet- but she's willing ;). She's a huge wip but I love her a lot. She's the only one that sees Frecil as just a weird guy (the others see them as differently). She's has a hearing aid and does do the choreography of performances. Also step-sibling to Frecil.

José Diaz plus picrew: he's like 5'10. With Daiki out of the unit and put on a back burner, he's actually the youngest(17)of the ground and leader bc enstars love putting their youngest members as leaders. Also trans. But, yeah, he's selective mute and is just very shy.

Like, not in a blushing mess kinda of way- just more aloof? I wanted to explore shyness in a way that's not a stumbling mess, if that makes sense? He's very anxious and probably the most "normal" of the unit. He's very kind and sweet-hearted, having a love for hello kitty. I'm still exploring him as well, but he's definitely fun to explore and I love him dearly. Funny enough, he's also plays the dubious confirmed or not enstar-like game, he's a rabbit!p. He looks up to Frecil and had this weird devotion with him, both as someone he looks up to (putting Frecil on a podium) and as his mentor. It's interesting to say the least.

Frecil (Frederico Rivera) they/them user,: 5'2

The shortest of the unit, but they are the oldest (20). This little guy was made to be my absolutely bonkers character when I first made them, and now I'm reworking with the original concepts and giving them more depth. Probably the one with the most thoughts. They are blind. The ears are also fake/not canon to their actually design. Does most of the vocal training/writes the songs.

They are probably the most experienced of the unit, having gone through the ringer a couple of times. I mean, to be the one at the top and fall type of story. I often think of them as a fallen angel at times. They're just someone who's kinda done with the limelight and just kinda sits back when it comes to idol life.

They somehow?? Smell like?? Wet earth??

They act very child-like to throw off people, speaking rather child-like as well. Has been known to bite people, give people rocks, and has territorial battles with Mayoi in the vents. Just a very out there, eccentric, character. They and José were the ones that created Buskin and Socks. Ahh, I should stop before making this too long hahah~

Cherry/Aela Barbasdotter: 19, 6'0, she/her user as well. Oh! And one of my producers, mostly producing with Socks and Buskin.

Her design mostly stayed the same, but her personality is a lot different than before. Before she was bubbly and cheerful, often time picking up others with ease. Now she's more stoic and guarded. She's always so strong, but in a chubby sort of way. Like she could very easily pick up all cast in Enstars bc I think its funny to pick up the more taller idols like they were kittens. Despite her cold mask, she's actually very very very nice and kind- often motherly towards others. But also very protective. So protective that it kinda causes issues with the growth of Buskin and Socks. There's some issues between Frecil and her. She kinda treats Frecil likes they are some sort of fragile doll, afraid to watch them fall apart again. It's kinda dehumanizing at times, but she's also very loyal towards Frecil and what they are trying to do. She's well-research and very professional when she works with idols. Some final girl stuff going on with her.

She's been with the idol unit since the beginning.

Diwa García; 17, she/they. 2nd year.

She can see ghooostt~. The ability is "genetic" in their family. Their mother is from Philippines, so that's where most of the ghost-seeing relatives are from. Her little immediate family (her mothers and them) are kinda the black sheeps of the family, which is due to her mothers being ghost hunters for a TV show. Kinda like selling out in a sense?

Nonetheless, Diwa's kinda been isolated as a kid- so talking to living people is a bit difficult for them at times. It doesn't help that sometimes they can't tell who's alive or not. She honestly thought that some of the idols are, well, ghost. She actually doesn't want her mother's fame nor her ghost seeing abilities to be known. She just wants to be normal, and is just obsessed with anything she considers normal. Oh to be someone who desires to be normal and never being able to reach it. Also, she's missing a pinkie! Hahahah!

She's probably the character with the most interactions with the main cast compared to the other ocs(due to Cherry kinda "cock"blocking Buskins and Socks from interacting with other idol units etc).

She's terrified of bodies of water/water ghosts, so she is absolutely terrified of Kanata. It doesn't help that she's friends with Tetora, and kinda gets dragged out by him. Also has a "lowkey" crush of Narukami~!

So, April is the first one to meet Casey and brings him to the turtles for help. I am working on a comic book script for this event to try to learn how to write comics, so hopefully I'll be able to show it on here soon!

April is 15 years old. She's super into horror media and video games, and has known the turtles for about a year. Raph met her first and she considers him her BEST friend, but the other turtles are all a very close second. The two of them play video games online a lot even if they don't see one another in person that day, and they're working on a horror game together. She is kind of the opposite of Raph and Mikey - they both dream of being normal kids and being able to be normal and live around other people, but she hopes and wishes her mom would somehow fall in love with their dad, pull a brady bunch to fuse their families together, and give her unlimited Turtle Little Brother Time in their world instead of having to return to the human world. Donnie is teaching her some Turtle First Aid (as well as what Human First Aid he knows) and the two of them watch How It's Made and do cute things together. Leo and Mikey are both teaching her martial arts - Leo because he thinks it would make their dad proud if he did a good job teaching her (despite Splinter currently not knowing she exists,) Mikey because he's wracked with anxiety and has terror-visions of her being defenseless against Bad Guys. (Raph does not feel like he has to teach her anything, they're just friends who have fun together and are making fun stuff together and he really feels like he needs a friend who doesn't... depend on him for anything, poor boy.)

Casey is 16 and he's had a very rough life so far. Meeting Casey (and by extension meeting April, who introduces herself to him this way) is like a thirty-second process from Splinter going "Oh no a human" to "Oh no, a human THAT I MUST ADOPT, POOR BOY." (He does ask if April needs to be adopted, which adds fuel to the "April wants to Parent Trap Splinter and her Mom" fire, but she politely declines FOR NOW) Casey is VERY into the Fallout games and pretty explicitly models his way of dressing/weapons of choice/general aesthetic after Fallout New Vegas, which the turtle boys are too young to have played but April knows what's up. All four of the turtles feel incredibly obligated to teach Casey how to fight and take care of himself, especially when they find out that he's on the run from the same apocalyptic death cult that mutated them* mutated their dad into a rat** and chased them from Florida to the sewers of New York***. Casey likes all of the turtles equally, but has a special attachment to April, Donnie, and Mikey for nebulous Genders Reasons that he is not equipped to deal with at this time.

(Splinter has fallen into the trap of Making Shit Up when he's not sure of the answer or is ashamed of the truth and despite having good intentions he has caused bonkers problems for his boys, mentally)

(also: Leo's decision to train April started with Leo going "Hey, Dad, GIRLS can be ninjas too, right?" and Splinter, Trans But Awkward, Firmly Stating, "ANYONE can be a girl." which did not really answer the question but Leo decided it would work as permission until he did a grand reveal of Girl Ninja April)

(Splinter then spent a couple of months trying to State To The Room that any of his sons can be a girl if they want and they can just tell him if they're a girl, that's normal and fine, just let him know, he has girl names lined up if anybody's interested)

(Donnie is Not A Boy either but he's too caught up in "Thinks He Might Not Be Alive" to put too much thought into it right now. give him a few years)

Whenever you warn your followers about the rest of the contents of a post, it's usually followed by the kind of things I want to see most.

I was feeling ashamed of myself and my place in fandom, because of my "weird interests" that "no one wants to see" and was fighting back against it and had a bunch of normal arguments like they tell you to make in therapy and then had the thought about the fact that my favorite tag of yours is the one for the stuff you consider most taboo. My own most taboo writing has the most hits of any of my stuff on AO3.

This shit is the backbone of fandom. If I want to read your words, even when you say they are ultra bonkers, someone wants to read mine. Shame has no place here. Thank you for being a good example of that.

I get it, its hard to go balls to the walls about certain content because in the year 2k23 people —overgeneralisation here and i am not singling out/targeting any age group except maybe minors who should be very careful about the content and things they consume online that may or may not be tagged (hopefully they are, sincerely tumblr remains the best social media platform for this that ive been on that has such an extensive personalised tagging system) — uh back to year 2023 and people find faults in ALOT of things and disregard the tags

I find it unfortunate that authors on AO3 get the brunt of this a ton like ayo the tags? Exist? I know we dont like thesis length tagging but they are there for a reason I think its silly authors have to put additional disclaimers in the summary/chapter notes for extra coverage just in case someone doesn’t properly process their tags, a silly necessity

At first before i started the “xam screams about (ultra) bonkers stuff” tags i was also a little ashamed and definitely nervous like will people like this? Im not entirely sure so I will do my damn best to prevent upsetting anyone, but I cant cater to everyone who decides to follow me (thank you btw why but im grateful) and the exploration of taboo topics makes me happy if that makes sense

Does liking and wanting to discuss/explore/create content around subjects like this make me or you a bad person, no because content creation esp fan content is self indulgence, fanfiction and fanart of a prexisting piece of media is self indulgence and hedonism at its finest

Jak! Hi, beloved, and thanks for dropping by!

14. If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

So obviously I would go bonkers over any kind of illustration for my works (pointing once again to Dav's art for A Close Shave, which I am continually reeling over), but this is kinda tough because not much...happens in my fics, per se. 😅 I go for quiet moments with high internal stakes--"Pete lies wrapped in a sheet for several hours and thinks about death" is not visually compelling!

That said, I think one of the things Lapping at the Edges does well is pairing movement and intent in a more visual way than most of my work? There's that image of a sleep-ruffled Pete smoothing his hand down the front of Vegas's stained jacket to make sure he's not injured while Vegas is miserably wine-flushed and raring to get punched in the face--that one has stuck with me.

I've also been working on that fic where Pete's a spaceship (working title Breathing Space) and it's set to be much more dynamic/visually oriented, which has been fun to experiment with!

27. Is there a fic you were nervous to post/share? Why?

Bold of you to assume I don't live in a constant state of nervousness about every single fic I write. 😎

So won't give up these ghosts feels very personal for me. Most of my writing is about learning to live and love in the aftermath, which is itself a vulnerable place to write from, but I think ghosts taps into a lot of my own deeper fears and consolations around...hiding, grief, suicide, healthy death acceptance vs having a passive death wish, nonexistence as comfort, and then the journey past that place and the terrible, wonderful desire to live.

Baring all that is nerve-wracking. Also, the story concept is pretty fucking weird. Pete's a weird guy, but. Holy shit???

I worried a lot about how it would be received. I figured the concept would be off-putting to a lot of folks--I didn't know if anyone would get something worthwhile from it. I definitely braced for it to flop.

Ultimately, I'm happy I put it out there. Folks did get something worthwhile from it, be that catharsis or enjoyment or just a non-frightening interaction with death. I feel lucky to have connected with people that way. :)

In addition, and on a lighter note: it is my firm belief that the details of Vegas and Pete's intimacy should be off-putting to everybody except them. Not in a kink-negative or horror-show way, more just, "oh so this is what you guys do instead of therapy huh. the psychological tangle is truly impenetrable." I am thrilled to have contributed to that agenda!

For the character bingo thing, King, Queen and Lancer

All right, I'll just do these one at a time:

So first off...King. I'm going to keep this short because I could honestly go on a full rant about this...King is critically underrated and misunderstood by the MAJORITY of the Deltarune community, NOT all. I see a fair amount of folks actively dislike King or even outright despise him, which I don't really understand. King's not the best character morally, but he's not the worst character Toby Fox has created either. There's likely a lot more to him than we currently know. There's also a few people who misdraw King, such as presenting the blue part of his face as being a hood, suggesting the spade part of his face is mask of sorts, drawing King as if he has fur, etc. From what I can tell, this sort of thing isn't as extreme or common with King as it is with another certain character, but I'll get to him later. That explains most of the Bingo squares I put x's in. And the ships involving King don't...make sense. I'm not trying to condemn anyone who ships King with other characters, as it's a major part of the UT/DR community and there's no rule stopping anyone from doing so. But from a logical, game-presenting perspective, I see no ship that makes any sense at all. That, and I don't ship characters together, so I'm more inclined to reject shipping as a whole. This explains the last couple squares I filled in.

Boy, this is likely going to ignite some flames...I'm not a major fan of Queen. It's not that she's a bad character. I do find some aspects of Queen fairly unique and interesting, such as her dialogue and her protectiveness of Noelle. But I never felt interested in her. I never wanted to sit down and go into brainstorming mode regarding her. In my opinion, she's overrated and is in Chapter 2 too much. She also seemed a lot less...threatening as a villain. She never intimidated me at all, whereas King did. There's just wasted potential with her. Yeah, my opinions about Queen are likely very controversial compared to what others think. I don't have anything else to say about her, so...next!

WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT WE HAVE A BINGO! Where to begin...Lancer is my all-time favorite Deltarune character, hands-down. I love every single thing about him. There is nothing wrong with him whatsoever. He has never done a single bad thing, ever. The one issue I have with him lies within the Deltarune community...again, not every single person does this, but like King, people often depict Lancer as...not being the character he actually is. Some misrepresent his appearance. Some examples would be the same examples I used for King. This...drives me bonkers. I can't stand it. And there are apparently some people who even ship Lancer with other characters...I LITERALLY did not know about this until a friend of mine told me. Just...why? Lancer's a CHILD...probably ten years old maximum. Shipping him with other characters is not right at all...and THEN there are some people who depict Lancer as being younger than he seems to be, like toddler age. I'm pretty sure Lancer's not a toddler...he displays awareness, intelligence, and emotions a toddler does not possess. Anyway, Lancer rules, best Deltarune character ever, the end. I'm highly considering writing a similar essay with Lancer like the one I did for King, because I could go on about this bouncy little pumpkin for ages. But I'll leave it here for now.

Keep in mind that this is all my opinion...you have every right to have a different opinion. That's part of why so many different types of characters exist in the Deltarune universe...there are characters who suit everyone.
