﹙🍃 𓂃 satan's right-hand man — lee haechan ! ﹚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ . . . synopsis ; you've known lee donghyuck your whole life, admired him from afar for half as long and yet, why does it take a cross-major project to get you to properly interact?
♡ . . . pairing ; computer science major! haechan × multimedia major! reader
♡ . . . genre ; non-idol au, college au (? very inaccurate portrayal of the education system haha). a few curses flying here and there.
Tumblr media
“I don't think I can do it. There's way too many people around.”
You follow the tan-skinned target dressed in baggy jeans and a varsity jacket as he walks past your table, out of the cafeteria billowing murmurs of conversation. His brown hair flops down on his eyes, wired earphones making him oblivious to the world.
Or, in this case, you and your friend's schemes.
“Y/n, just breathe,” Gyuri chuckles, typing away on her laptop. “Most people here are too occupied with their own shit to care about yours.”
“Astounding analogy, truly,” you deadpan at the Literature major who shrugs, leaning back on the chair. The crop top you'd worn was sticking to your sweating back, uncomfortably so. “And sure, nobody would be curious as to why I'm walking up to the newly appointed captain of the soccer team. The last time someone asked him out, they went viral!”
“Hey, you're asking him out for an entirely different reason. Unless, you have a thing for bratty jocks with pretty faces?”
You couldn't stop the roll of your eyes. She was right, until you account for his soft brown eyes, tech nerd tendencies that came off as way too appealing than they had any business being and a presence that everyone heard yet missed when he wasn't around.
Oh god, you really were hopeless.
Gyuri pipes up next, looking away from the screen before her, “Also, it takes about five minutes to make it to the front gate. So, unless you have any other place in mind to ask him before the first game tomorrow, you should be running.”
The world screeches to a halt. Your eyes flicker to the wall clock, as you stand up immediately. “Shit, there's no way I'll make it to him before his usual bus leaves in these shoes!”
“Should I be concerned that you know his bus route?” Gyuri raises an inquisitive brow.
You muster your deadliest glare, grabbing for things and shoving them in your bag. “Don't make it sound creepy, weirdo. I used to take the same bus before we moved.”
“Eh, tomato to-mah-to,” Gyuri cocks her head. “Now, chop chop. You have precisely two minutes on the clock.”
Taking a deep breath, you try (and fail, evidently) to settle your stomach which had been dancing the tango on a loop for the whole day. “I'll see you later. And thanks for the coffee!”
Gyuri throws you double thumbs up. Whether in acceptance or encouragement, you don't have the time to figure out.
When you manage to stumble through the crowd going the opposite way, past the gates of your college campus and to the nearest bus stop, it's been nearly ten minutes. With your heart pounding against your throat, you scan the listing on your phone, “Let's see... Cheongpa 2GA, Cheongpa...”
“It got cancelled today. There was a big crash by the Hangang road.”
Your head shoots up at the distantly familiar voice, so fast that you're surprised you dodge a whiplash. He stands leaning against the pole upholding the overhead shade, a small smile on his face.
Inhaling sharply, you nod and speak after having reinstalled basic social skills. “Right. Uh, are there any other buses going the same way?”
“Not if you want to reach home past ten,” he muses. “I'll catch the next ride to the subway and take the train.”
The need to know why he was telling you this registered a little too late.
"Shouldn't you be looking for the Bogwang side buses, though?” he asks.
You nearly trip on the transition curb, going to stand beside him. “I'm visiting family in Cheongpa. Anyway, it's kind of weird that you know where I live, isn't it?”
He's still staring you down as he says, “Not as weird as you and your friend memorizing my schedules or tracking my hourly whereabouts.”
For the second time in the span of five minutes, you look up at him, finding the corners of his warm gaze crinkling with mirth. You feel your mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. “I—”
One syllable doesn't make it out your mouth before he's humming in approval. About what, you're none the wiser. “Yeah, you guys are not as quiet as you may think.”
Humiliation burns red across the apples of your cheeks and creeps up your neck. If Lee Donghyuck had managed to overhear, how many other within earshot knew all about your business?
You settled for an indignant response. “Hey, it's rude to eavesdrop.”
Donghyuck chuckles, an airy sound but still low; lower than the pitches you know his laughter reached. “Or I just have really great hearing. So, what is it you wanted to ask me so badly?”
You catch up on the teasing lilt. “What if I say it's a love confession?”
Your flippant reply has him lose his cool for half a second yet you still consider it a win. He shoves his phone back in his pocket, “Doubt it. Setting aside the massive stroking my ego will receive, you don't seem like the type to lose your mind over asking someone out.”
“Touché,” You mumble, your next words put on hold due to the people near your surging forward as the next bus arrived.
Donghyuck walks forward, so at ease you think he had taken and discarded your conversation in the matter of seconds. Before your heart could drop to the depths of hell, he looks over in confusion. “You’re not coming?”
You follow him wordlessly, hanging around the back of the bus. Donghyuck stands near you, chuckling when he sees you're unable to hold onto the handlebars above.
“Too high for you?”
“Shut up before I stomp on your feet. I can assure you it hurts like a bitch,” you threaten and he thinks you look about as menacing as a kitten.
“Enlighten me then, Y/n. What made you stalk me on a Tuesday?” he asks instead, moving a little closer as the bus lurches forward.
Ignoring the zoo of butterflies in your gut, you sigh. “Remember the project that's supposed to be thirty percent of the semester's final grade? Well, my assignment goes way off my area of expertise."
He hums in acknowledgement, full lips parting in an 'o' of realization as he catches on. "And what do you expect me to do?"
Ever the overthinker, you translate that to him wanting nothing to do with this. You drop your head, eyes trained on the yellow wedges you'd put on for the day. It had given you nothing but blisters. That's what trying new things, going out of comfort zones get you—a reality check.
You voice is too small for your liking, "I was thinking of making a videogame. Nothing fancy, just the barebones of an interactive interface. I thought if I get a computer major on board, we could both submit the project and present different aspects of the process."
The split second of silence before he speaks is gut-wrenching. “Killing two birds with one stone. It's a smart idea.”
You glance up to see a leisurely grin on his face. Is it weird that the loosest definition of a compliment from him is throwing you into a spiral? Probably.
“So? Will you work on it with me?” you ask, all too eager.
He pretends to think it over, hand on his chin and everything. Then, “Say 'please' first.”
For a second, you're rendered speechless. “What?"
“What?” He blinks owlishly, parroting you. “If a cute girl asks nicely, maybe I'll agree.”
Your jaw slackens. “Lee Donghyuck, you are a menace to society.”
“Because I ask for my fair share? I see how it is.” He pouts mockingly, running a hand through his fluffy hair.
“You get to present the project, too! That's a fifty-fifty bargain unless you have a better idea for partner-work that assures you an easy A,” you cross your arms over your chest. You may be a hopeless case of anxiety and lackluster connections but you're not that desperate. And who does he think he is, anyway?
Donghyuck chuckles, head bobbing. “Not nearly enough. If I'm doing this, I want you to do two things for me.”
You nearly rethink your decision for even asking him in the first place. But acting like his personal errand girl is not worse than showing up to class with a half-assed project. “Nothing that entails me publicly making a fool out of myself more than I already do.”
He holds his hands up in surrender. “I won't ask for anything like that. Who do you take me for?”
You eye him up and down. “Right now? Satan's right-hand man.”
Donghyuck smirks, poking his tongue onto the inside of his cheek. “Alright, then. Satan's right-hand man says you must first ask him politely and second... go out on a date with him.”

hot n cold / rúben dias
Tumblr media
summary: being in the will-they-won't-they stage with rúben was confusing, to say the least. maybe a bit of rain during the treble parade can make things clearer for you.
wc: 1.1 words.
author's note: just a lottttt of pinning and tension that doesn't really get addressed, i'm sorry 😮‍💨 but they KNOW!!! 🙏🏻 also, lots of soft rúben for my soul 🙏🏻
rain in manchester. it shouldn't surprise none of you, part of the whole team that organized the parade, but still, it does.
first, the answer is to delay it. but, you all know the achievement is too big to overlook, so cancelling it isn't an option, with the fans and team all ready to celebrate the huge achievement only done once by a previous team. a direct rival, nonetheless. and considering there are already a sea of blue waiting for their home heroes, the answer comes rather easy: do it anyways. under pure, manchester weather.
the rain comes pouring down on all of you, and it almost feels predestined: like there was no other way of doing it. but also, you're freezing cold, rain soaking all your clothes and glueing them to your body. you couldn't care less at the moment, too focused on not missing a thing, which was difficult to do when jack was putting on a show for everyone to see.
your back clashes against somebody's front, and you want to turn desperately to offer your apologies, except, two big arms wrap around your figure, effectively immobilising you. "fuck, you're freezing" is the first thing the person says, and by his mere voice you know who it is.
you're not only dripping water with the sassines that can be perceived coming out of your lips. "i think that's the expected result when you're standing in the rain for one hour, rúben," you deadpan, and try to get out of his hold. you don't really care about prying eyes from fans right now, because the bus just got to its destination, so the coast is clear, one could say. but still, feeling you flush against him feels wrong, just because you know you're enjoying it far more than you should. he's a colleague, after all.
"come on, come here," he insists, and you can't really get out of his grip with the force he's caging you in now. you two are so close together that you can feel the medals hanging from his neck, and resting comfortably on his chest. his voice brings you back, and you feel like you've been caught staring, when in reality, you've not. "i'm hot. i can warm you up" he resonates, and although he doesn't refer to him being hot, but rather, his body temperature, which is notoriously higher than yours currently, you can't hel but laugh at the connotation. "wasn't really a secret that you're hot when you're shirtless, dias".
he tries to stifle a laugh, but still, the smirk painted on his lips, which enhances the little dimple he has in his cheek, betrays him. "anyways, you'll freeze to death," you say, turning a bit to get to see his face when you're speaking to him. you notice now the way that he's looking at you, so lovingly, that you're almost forced to turn around again to avoid getting flustered in his gaze. especially, when he shrugs your statement off. "wouldn't be such a horrible way to die, right?". thankfully, john comes before you can answer anything to the portuguese.
"come on, lovebirds, we have a treble to celebrate!".
you freeze at his words, and rúben is the one to move you forward when he starts walking, still holding you onto him, as if you'd leave his side at the first chance you had. that's what you would be supposed to do; but everybody's too drunk to remember any of the ruled you must follow, so you decide to follow that path too. except, you know that rúben doesn't have a drop of alcohol on his system, and you're not really in for drinking while at work: so you two are completely sober. "don't listen to him," he whispers when john's out of sight, and you realize you two are the only ones still in the bus. "but he's right. we have to get you warmed up. can't have my favorite staff getting sick, can we?".
ruben doesn't leave your side at all. not when you get down the bus, not when you enter the building. you don't see any of your colleagues, and your first instinct is to go out there, and search for them. for sure, they're all in place, doing their job, and you feel guilty not being there.
rúben gets to catch your wrist, just barely. "where are you going?" he asks, his eyes big and questioning. you only get to point with your thumb, signaling back towards where the exit to get to the stage is, but he's clearly not pleased with your answer. "you're not getting back there without a dry shirt" he says, giving you the blue shirt he had in his hold, and the towel a staff member had somehow dumped on him in a hurry. your eyes clearly spoke before you needed to, because ruben answered before you even muttered a word. "don't worry about me. see you out there, yeah?".
you're too focused filming and taking pictures to even see when rúben gets out, but the way the crowd cheers his name alerts you of his presence on the stage. the first thing you notice is the clear contrast between his shirt and the one the rest of his teammates are wearing. he has a nice, white shirt that hugs him just right, at the same time that marks him as a champions league champion. instead, the rest of the guys are wearing a light blue one, with light blue and neon yellow letters accentuating the fact that they're treble winners.
no one seems to notice the slip up, or at least, think it's accidental, but john sees you, and he knows. after all, it's not too complicated to put two and two together. he nods approvingly, like a proud father, only to shift his focus to clap rúben in the back. it seems to be a bit too strong to his liking given how fast he turns around, browns knitted together in confusion.
your focus gets taken out of their little interaction when jack does the next thing that has the crown roaring, and get reminded, again, of what your job here is. not to fool around with rúben, you chastise yourself, but still, can't help but look for him a few minutes after. this time, he's looking at you, and it makes your cheeks grow warm. he tugs his shirt and points at you, making a little thumbs up. rúben seems to mouth "looks good on you", and you playfully roll your eyes at him. "it's because it's yours".

Rewatched CATWS on my unexpected day off. I guess I've watched it enough that I am noticing things more in the background XD
I'm noticing more details about CEvans' acting this time around. Steve seems to have this sense of...brittleness, and maybe a little anger, during the first half of the film. The smiles seem just a little forced and his interactions a little distant, until he figures out Hydra was there the whole time and suddenly he's got direction.
The circumstances around Fury's "death" caught my eye. After Fury was shot, Sharon busts in the door and introduces herself as Agent 13 sent to "protect" Steve on Fury's orders. This is...an interesting assertion, given that Steve is shown to be incredibly capable, not just physically but also intellectually, to protect himself, and Sharon isn't shown to give Steve the emotional safety that he was craving in the beginning of the movie, nor was she ever demonstrated to be physically competent enough to protect Steve (unlike, say, Nat). It would seem - and that does seem to be Steve's belief too based on his response - that she was sent to watch him, not to protect him. I still think there’s enough in canon to make Sharon either good or bad right from the start.
Anyway, then this exchange happens:
Sharon (on radio): Foxtrot is down, I need EMTs. Person on other end: Do we have a 20 on the shooter? Steve: Tell him I'm in pursuit.
How did the other person know there was a shooter? Was it someone who was listening in to the bugged apartment, or did Sharon have time to tell them before going into Steve's apartment, or did they know because they were part of the team that sent the sniper?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like I've mentioned this before (I can't remember half the things I write so anyway, here it is again) but I feel like Steve's response here suggests that he's already starting to clue in on who the Soldier might be. When he's chasing the shadow across the roof, his expression was furious, urgent and determined -- but that all changed when the Soldier caught the shield (picture 1) and made meaningful eye contact tossed it back (picture 2). Steve just looks...surprised and uncertain and, shall we say, a little vulnerable?
Also I didn’t notice this before, but the Strike team were there to watch Fury’s operation as well, so no wonder Fury had to go the whole way including fooling Nat and Steve.
Right before the infamous elevator fight starts, Rumlow gets in the elevator and they have this exchange:
Rumlow: Evidence team found some fibres on the roof they want us to see, you want me to get the tac team ready? Steve: No, let's wait and see what it is first.
Obviously during this time Steve is also very distracted by what Fury has told him and what Pierce has tried to entice him with, so it could just be Steve trying to shelve that thought for later -- but he was also very interested in what Nat could tell him about the Winter Soldier (she used that information to stop him being angry at her), so I wonder if it's a little bit of a cover tactic as well, i.e. he didn't trust the Strike team and didn't want them to get close to this mystery assassin's identity.
I remember there was a meta about how well CATWS established competency, and I just love watching that all over again. Not just for Steve and Nat obviously, but even for the Strike team — they are shown to be incredibly capable and in sync during the Lumerian Star sequence, which is why the stakes of the movie felt so real.
Steve donning the last uniform Bucky saw before he fell off the train is an underrated romantic trope 😂

So happy to see more DipplinShipping!!
Do you have Headcanons for the two?
So you asked this awhile ago, but I wanna personally thank you because I vaguely referenced how I was putting off your ask to give it some thought. And then, I asked the community about their headcanons. And y'all showed up with that and it's become such a fun way to interact with you all and talk more about this ship as a community. So, in essence, you started this Jazzy!!! Thank you!! There's been a lot that others have submitted that I love, and ones that I'll sprinkle into my fic(s). Right now, I just have Sweet & Sour Dipplins up on AO3. So while there's a lot I could potentially say here, I'll keep my answer very general with all things considered:
Kieran falls first and harder. He had a crush on Juliana during Teal Mask. Juliana didn't really know what to fully think of with her feelings, but she later realized she developed feelings for Kieran here, too. She is also oblivious to Kieran's feelings. They had a lot of unofficial dates during Teal Mask.
Kieran assumes Juliana has had feelings for other people/has a dating history - she does not. She may have thought others were cute before, but Kieran's her first true real crush.
Kieran gets taller than Juliana during the time skip between Teal Mask and Indigo Disk. Before he was the same height. He is also stronger and can carry her.
Kieran and Juliana don't get together officially until post Indigo Disk because Kieran needs to have an edgy phase for personal development reasons. Juliana also needs time to grow as a person, too (in general, she's very sweet and dotes for a lot of people, but she leans more into her strength and resolve when her social relationship with Kieran is strained. Her adventures in Paldea also give her a sense of confidence, too.
Kieran actively denies his feelings for Juliana in angsty sleepless phase. He instead sees her as an obstacle to defeat because of his own insecurities, and tries to convince himself that everything she does (whether to him, or in general) is manipulative. Juliana is uncertain on how to approach him because she feels his anger even if he's not fully speaking on it, but gradually recognizes that showing up for him anyway is meaningful. Meanwhile, any time she is sweet to him, Kieran is having an internal crisis with his feelings.
Juliana likes both sides of Kieran but doesn't know what to make of it. She's also somewhat disgusted in herself for realizing she likes Kieran while he's clearly not too well mentally, let alone not getting along with her (or anyone) too well.
Biggest shippers of this ship include Carmine and Drayton. First shippers were Kieran's grandparents. Carmine helps Juliana figure out her feelings for Kieran, Drayton observes and suspects Juliana's feelings for Kieran and Kieran's feelings for Juliana. He has fun with this while also being on team "calm Kieran down and save him."
Everyone realizes Kieran and Juliana are dating before they do. By the time they announce it, everyone's like "well, duh". This especially embarrasses Kieran, who gets red in the face very easily. On the other hand, Juliana isn't really a blusher.
I'm trying to avoid listing headcanons that others have submitted, but I just have to list the whole "Kieran says wowzers after the first kiss" one because it's so funny and perfect. Juliana also likes hearing Kieran say "wowzers" even though he's trying to outgrow it because it's part of who he is at his core (he also still goes "aww man" sometimes).
Drayton can still mess with Kieran even while he's dating Juliana publicly. #Brotherly love (Note: Crispin also tries to tease, but it does not go as well for him LOL)
Post-angst Kieran is very attentive to Juliana and views her as an unconditional love because she never gave up on him. Nothing can ever distort his view of her again. In some ways, he pedestals her a bit for this and might take her side blindly.
Kieran retains his champion title (i.e. Juliana does not retain it because she's not a full time student), but he does so by working his way back up the ranks because he wants to earn it with his true ideals (i.e. channeling love and connection rather than revenge and winning). Juliana offers to help support him in his redemption arc at Blueberry, but he for the most part prefers to handle it alone since he himself was responsible for his action towards others. Drayton is proud of him when he gets beaten and teases him about Juliana's influence on him, which riles up Kieran.
In Teal Mask and angsty Kieran arc, Juliana leads the dynamic more. Post that, Kieran leads. Juliana thought she was more of a physically affectionate person, but then Kieran waltz in and becomes very lovey-dovey in this area once they're dating. Sleepy Kieran is especially clingy no matter what Kieran version we have. They also both love seeing each other's hair down and enjoy playing with it.
Juliana isn't a good cook and really only knows how to make sandwiches because they were useful. She does, however, learn a bunch of apple-based recipes because it's Kieran's favorite food flavor.
Kieran is technology deficient because of the way he grew up and often needs Juliana's assistance. Carmine, on the other hand, quickly adapted and uses technology better than the average person.
Kieran and Juliana trade each other aaplins as a surprise/way to confess love. They're both flustered when they realize they both traded aaplins.
Juliana flirted first, but Kieran made the first real move. He just needed the push/reassurance in knowing she liked him too.
Juliana can fluster Kieran very easily. By indigo disk, Kieran tries to get under Juliana's skin by turning the tables. It works. But he wasn't ready for that. So he flusters himself as a consequence.
I probably have more, but figured this was good enough for now. :) <3

ch. lvii - scam
fashion mogul!mingi × reader
buy me coffee ?
things aren't always what it seems but when even the truth is left unheard, what can people do? one musn't lie but what if the lie is more accepted than the truth? the scariest thing in this world isn't monsters or demons. it's people with no agenda and time to waste.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You should start to get used to this. You should have started.
Meeting with PR and legal people, you mean. You were glad that you didn't have to meet any legal people that day because legal people are... crazy serious. The way Mingi looked so calm and sure as the PR team told him that after this, you and he should just steer into the "relationship" without confirming the relationship and announce your pregnancy together. He was nodding along, agreeing to the three people in front of you while you sat there with a permanent crease between your eyebrows. The more the PR team talked, the more you rubbed your growing bump, thinking about bean the whole time.
"Sorry, it seems like (y/n) here is distracted," one of the men cut his colleague off when he noticed you just sitting there, unresponsive, "Do you have any questions?" He asked. With a sigh, you stood up straighter and gather yourself before you speak, "Do you enjoy putting up a show to fool the public? Because I don't. The thing Mingi and I pulled before about our relationship, while it was technically a lie, it wasn't as elaborate as this. I'm just thinking that if this crash and burn, Mingi and I are going to be the ones struggling to pick the pieces up," you huffed, clearly frustrated. Mingi stared at you with a calm expression on his face though inside, he was worried about you and also the situation because you do have a point. There was always a chance of the plan backfiring and falling apart completely and he knew that the key in this shenanigan was having trust in each other. And here you were, doubting.
The woman from the PR team was about to talk when Mingi raised a hand to stop her from talking. "Can you gives us a minute?" Mingi asked, eyes not leaving your figure even as your eyes nervously trailed over the people who left the room. When the door shut, Mingi finally reached out to turn your chair around so you'd be facing him and he pulled you closer. "Okay, what's wrong?" He asked gently, ducking down to search for your eyes but you were still avoiding eye contact. "Do you think we might not pull this off?" He asked, still trying to get you to talk without pressuring you. Mingi patiently waited, knowing that he already made the first move to reach out and it was all up to you to decide the course of the conversation.
Pursing his lips, Mingi was still holding himself back from saying or asking anything that could potentially cause you discomfort. So he settled on placing his warm hands on your knees in an attempt to let his availability of presence and comfort be known to you. But you both were in a place of business with people waiting just outside to talk about, well, business and as much as Mingi wanted to give you time, he couldn't act on his personal agenda. "You know what, we don't have to do this today. We can just reschedule and go out for noodles or cake or... I don't know, shitty ramen at a convenience store?" He chuckled, slowly pulling away only for you to grab his hands, surprising him slightly. Your eyes finally met him, "I... I don't know if I want to bring bean into this world with lies as the foundation of bean's existence." Mingi furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, "What do you mean bean's existence will be founded on lies?" Hearing him ask that question made you feel stupid and you were about to pull away and tell him to forget it but Mingi stopped you, this time clasping your hands together in his and pulling it to his lap, "(y/n)... Honesty and no judgement," he pointed out, reminding you of the deal you both shook on.
Groaning, you threw your head back slightly and mumbled to yourself, "I knew that's going to bite me in the ass," which made Mingi chuckle. Taking a second to compose yourself, you straighten up and spoke up, "I... Don't really know either but this... This whole lying to the whole world thing is something I fear. It's not that I don't trust you, but I don't even trust myself to do this. Let's put getting caught aside, if we go on with this, we're gonna have to keep this farce forever because we're going to always be involved, our lives are going to always be entangled because bean is going to connect us."
Mingi seemed stunned. He hadn't considered that this whole thing will affect his life permanently and while he doesn't mind the fact that he's going to be a dad, he never considered the fact that you and he, as individuals, would be affected. Usually, he'd panic over this and overthink and just broke down by himself. But now he has a partner and as bad as it sounds, at least his partner is panicking with him.
"Well... What if we don't lie?" He suggested.
With a roll of your eyes, you smacked him on his hand, "I am not dating you because we're in this together," you frowned. Mingi rolled his eyes back at you mockingly, "No, what I meant is we technically lie to the public by telling them we have a relationship, we just won't tell them what it is. Behind closed doors, you and I can forge our own relationship without having to label it." "Wouldn't that still be lying?" You asked, trying to wrap your head around his words, "In a sense, depends on how you wanna see it. We have to move fast for your own safety and bean's safety too and so far this is the best plan we have that doesn't involve either one of us or both to receive public backlash. We can blindly follow the PR's suggestion while being half-hearted and actually risk getting caught, or we can work their plan into our lives and try to make the best out of it because honestly, after you bought me a bagel this morning, I kinda don't want to let you go as q roommate," he joked making you chuckle and bite back a grin.
With the tension slowly dissolving, you were able to think more clearly and realized that logically, Mingi was right. You've been dealt the cards and it's all up to you whether you want to throw them in the air, give up, and throw a tantrum, or you can let people know you were handled shitty cards, or you can put on your best poker face and be confident about your decision. It was at that moment that you realized being in a team with Mingi was not so bad. It was not so bad at all because he managed to calm you down and talk some sense into you.
"I think pregnancy has made me soft. I don't usually care about strangers let alone people who wanted to use my name and ruin me," you pouted, looking down to pat your bump, "I blame you for making me soft, bean," you joked. That got Mingi gasping and pushing your hand off of your bump, using his own hand to gently pat your bulging belly, "Now you don't listen to your mom, she's cranky because she has to deal with her consequences of her action," he teased, sticking his tongue out at you. You scoffed and pushed him by the shoulder slightly, "It takes two to tango and may I remind you that there was a time you panicked over bean?" You smirked. Mingi's eyes widened and his hands flew to the sides of your belly as if trying to cover bean's ears, "Can you not mention that in front of bean? I'm trying to assert a certain fatherly image and me panicking doesn't bode well for said image," he hissed which made you laugh.
Before you two continued with your teasing, the door of the room was knocked and one of the PR team members peeked in. "I'm sorry to cut your private time, but we do have to talk about some things and it can take a while," he stated.
Looking at each other, you and Mingi nodded, assuring each other that you were ready before Mingi told the team to return. The talk was proven beneficial as you seemed to be more responsive and you didn't look worried. Maybe it was the talk, but it could also be Mingi's hand that never left yours, not even after the meeting was concluded and you both head to Mingi's car.

𖦹•°. miguel o'hara being jealous ?!
( a/n : hii!! i haven't written in a while so i apologise in advance if it sucks ass 💀 oh! and english isn't my native language so bare with me!! )
Tumblr media
"new recruit?" you asked, looking up from your food tray. you sat at the table for lunch at hq with the rest of the band of idiots you work with.
"yeah," peter b. parker coughed out, still forcing a whole burger into his hatch. "heard it from lyla, said jess found him on her last mission."
bits of food flew out of his mouth as he spoke, leaving the rest to contort their faces a bit from disgust. pav didn't seem to mind it, though.
"oh yeah, hobie and i saw him walk into the big man's office earlier!" pavitr prabhakar nudged an elbow into spiderpunk's side, causing him to choke on the drink he was chugging down.
"oi! watch it!"
"oh my god, are you seriously still drinking that shit?" gwen scoffed.
"come on, guys. his d.i.y coca-cola isn't all that bad! we gotta support him and his political views! is that what you call it? either way, i'm with you all the way, hobie." miles morales spoke up, defending one of his closest friend.
hobie brown claimed that he didn't believe in any large cooperate companies, the coca-cola company included. so he took it upon himself to make his own version. like that time he attempted to craft an xbox from scrap metal he found lying around (he stole them from miguel's office while he was out on a mission).
"yeah? why don't you take a sip then, miles?" you pushed the tin can hobie placed down on the table towards miles. he squirmed in his seat, forcing out a nervous laughter as hobie raised an eyebrow.
"nah, nah, i can't. i'm... on a diet! yeah, ma-maybe next time!"
as the whole table laughed, suddenly lyla appeared out of thin air.
"hey guys! so, i think you all know we got a new spidey on the team. miguel wants you all in his office to meet him asap." she glitched into various different poses as she spoke.
you all waited for the elevator to take you directly to the office's floor.
"make sure to make him feel welcomed. don't say anything intimidating. i'm looking at you, hobie." peter said before hobie let out a scoff towards his comment.
at last, the elevator doors finally open and you all stepped out. you began to notice a familiar figure standing in front of a larger figure, which you already identified as miguel o'hara.
miguel let out a dreadful sigh as he noticed peter b. exiting the elevator first, eager to meet the newest member of the spider society.
"heyyyyy! new guy! welcome on board!" peter b. said, placing a hand onto the new recruit's shoulder. "you're gonna fit right in- oh, meet the rest of the gang,"
you were the last to exit the elevator, still trying to make out who it actually was. all while miguel was staring at you, as he usually does.
the rest of the team joined in on peter b's warm welcome and you finally realise who it was, resulting in a loud gasp echoing the office.
all heads turned to face you as you exclaimed "is that really you?!"
you and the new recruit, also known as the amazing spider-man from earth-120703, are finally face to face with each other. his face immediately lit up upon recognising you.
he shouted out your name before immediately pulling you into an embrace. "peter! i didn't expect to see you here." you said between chuckles.
"what? you're saying i'm not good enough to be apart of you guys?" you both went back and forth joking with each other. the others were left dumbfounded by the situation unfolding before them.
what they didn't notice is how miguel was practically burning holes into peter's body. there was a rage rising inside of him, almost uncontrollable anger. he hated how you were embracing that random spider-man over him. he's the only person you're allowed to touch in any way. in fact, you're also only allowed to talk to him and no one else! is that toxic? maybe. but he just wants you all to himself! he would rather die than admit all of that, though. his hands were clenched into fist, holding the strong urge to punt this person across the room right then and there.
you began to explain to everyone how you met peter on one of your solo missions and even after the anomaly was caught, you still slipped back to his universe to hang out with him time to time.
"say that again?" miguel snapped his head towards you.
"i go to his universe to hang out someti-"
"and who allowed you to do that?"
the others began to tense up, immediately picking up on the anger in his tone.
"everyone else, get out. you, stay." miguel commanded, pointing his index at you.
the rest looked at you, worried. but you gave them a reassuring look back so they began to shuffle back into the elevator. "let's give you a tour, shall we? the frozen yogurt at the cafeteria is to die for." peter b. guided the recruit by the shoulders before closing the elevator door behind them.
you took a deep breath before turning around to face miguel.
"okay, about the sneaking off to another universe without letting anyone know thing, look, it's completely my fault and-"
"you should've known better! what if something happened to you? what if you died and no one knew?"
"relax, you know i can handle myself! you don't have to worry about me."
"that's the problem! i do worry about you. all the fucking time. i get anxious when you show up to work 10 minutes late, frantically asking lyla to check on your location which she refuses to do because she thinks it's creepy,"
"when you come back from a mission with your suit torn up and blood seeping out, it makes me just want to keep you here where you're safe with me,"
"and when i see you hugging some lousy peter variant, i-" he stopped himself. he pinched the bridge of his nose before making his way back to his platform.
"just forget it." he dismissed, sighing as he sat in his chair.
"miguel, i-" you were cut off by lyla, who alarmed miguel of a new anomaly on earth-652.

(Ask for SV asks and I who also vibrated alone for months will answer-)
Do you think Nemona or Arven attended school when the bullying was really bad? Do you think either of them were targeted?
I’m personally impartial to Nemona having been picked on but in enough of a backhanded compliment way that she didn’t quite realize they were deliberately trying to be mean to her kind of way
SOLIDARITY
So i'll be honest I am not entirely positive what the timeline is for SV (which I promise is relevant). It's smth I really should try and figure out but I keep getting distracted so forgive me while I guess here. We know Arven barely comes to school after Mabosstiff is hurt, and iirc that happens a year before the protagonist moves to Paldea (someone says smth about Arven having a rough year so I'm taking that literally). Team Star forms + Penny is sent to Galar a year and a half before the protagonist moves in, so I can only assume that both Nemona and Arven were at least somewhat regularly attending classes while the bullies were there. We know Nemona is a straight A student and shows up to class regularly, with nothing to indicate this is new / she didn't attend class before, and Arven not attending class bc of Mabosstiff is mentioned to be a recent change in his behavior. TLDR I think they both attended the school when the bullying was happening and went to class regularly
THAT BEING SAID i think both of them had some school issues. I don't explicitly think Arven got made fun of per say, but I do think the expectations put on him by teachers or peers and the general reality of Being The Professor's Kid gave him a whole bevy of issues. Also I don't think he's very booksmart. Bad combo overall. Generally his prickly personality and complicated relationship with his parents and legacy lead me to believe he's a bit of a loner and mostly kept to himself. Couple that with bad grades and you have a recipe for the kid never picked for the group projects who isn't in any clubs and who eats lunch outside by himself. I think people might whisper things behind his back, but I also don't think he was really targeted because people were afraid of his parents and also he's just a naturally intimidating kinda person (mix of his stature, status, and RBF). Because of this, I also think Arven didn't really know much about the bullying. Imo he was pretty isolated from school culture as a whole, so he never really caught wind of any of the bullying that happened or anything with Team Star. In his lane, (not) thriving and (not) flourishing
Nemona, on the other hand. Hooooo boy. Penny, who was bullied enough to start a gang, calls the current school "sunshine and rainbows" but we see in the postgame that people are still uncomfortable with and isolating Nemona. She's being avoided and talks about being dismissed but we can see people are at least trying to be nice currently-- I don't think the previous school environment would be quite that considerate. Much like what happens in the postgame, I think people's true feelings don't register with her. With someone as enthusiastic, friendly, and socially oblivious as she is I find it hard to believe she wasn't bullied by the same people who harassed Team Star. I hate to say it but she's someone that strikes me as ridiculously easy to mess with and far too nice to ever retaliate, which is basically like bully catnip. People definitely sent her "invitations to battle" they would never show up to just to see how long she would wait there or assuage her with backhanded compliments just to laugh at her not understanding she was being made fun of. And if I'm being completely honest? I still don't think Nemona ever realized what it all was. I genuinely do not think Nemona realizes the extent to which people avoid her currently and I don't think she recognizes she had been bullied. It's not that she's stupid I just think the combination of her being so genuinely friendly and socially oblivious means it all goes over her head. On the bright side it means she's way better adjusted than the rest of them

Crowley S2 Hair Post #17 Redone
(For reference: The Sideburns Scheme)
Crowley, Good Omens 2, Episode 2, The Clue, Permit
...
Introduction
Well, I said I would decide when the time came, and the time has come. So fine, here we are. As I said way back on my post about Before the Beginning, I have a high preference for present day Crowley as it is.
The whole story and its set of games include various challenges, and the minisodes are no exception, especially when it comes to analyzing Crowley's hair.
Surprisingly, the present day sideburns are still broadly solvable without the minisodes. If anything, they are a guide for trying to figure out the minisodes themselves by telling an audience player to seriously consider the spaces as the hair changes.
I've already admitted these things are a bit over my head when it comes to these memories, but I'll go over the how and why of it a bit more.
A good place to start is The Magic Trick You Didn't See theory I've referenced before, most notably in Post #8.
Reminder, the core theory there is that the Metatron has access to the Book of Life and has been editing it the whole time. More to the point, he's been editing mostly Aziraphale's memories and maybe Crowley's as well.
Now, something I have not said explicitly in my posts from that theory is that the author themself says Good Omens 2 has bad writing in it, presumably on purpose.
Sorry, but it does.
You know what? I'm not a professional author or even much of a reader, but that resonates.
Their idea is that the bad writing is a clue that the Metatron is editing the Book of Life, and he is a bad writer.
Well, I still think the Book of Life is actually in that matchbox, but otherwise, the idea strikes me as quite plausible. Well, sort of. You really shouldn't be able to edit someone's memories. I personally don't think that's a good story-telling device. What's the limit? What are the rules? Why not just write the story exactly as you want it to play out or the person exactly as you want them to be? Unless it's a game?
But I'm not a professional writer, especially Neil Gaiman, and I do believe the "Crowley storming out" sequence is meant to be an obvious story edit.
But not by the Metatron. That was a team effort. This effort suggests the "rules" of such a game would then entail that the Metatron isn't allowed to be the only being that can edit the story (or memories).
The Earthly Objects game is being played, and this game is powerful stuff.
As I've said, Earthly Objects itself might be a book that is a game. So, combining these ideas, Earthly Objects might still then be a book that the Metatron himself can edit, instead of the Book of Life. He still has to play the game at the end.
And certain players of a high enough caliber can make their own edits.
Then we approach what I think is a tricky question for this story.
What is the character point of view?
This question feels like a trap because of the spaces acting like a point of view within the game. People are going to ask the question anyway, especially with this episode giving at least three hints as to who was remembering a scene and who is about to remember a scene.
But since the Earthly Objects game exists, the Metatron could be editing parts, and Crowley and Aziraphale themselves can also be editing parts, an audience player is going to have a very hard time finding the answer.
My understanding is that the memories we see aren't just a person's memories.
These memories are stories, and the spaces in these memories still have readings of Crowley based on various factors though those factors aren't so easily and plainly paralleled to the present day ones.
The stories themselves, I believe, are embellished and contain hidden messages between Crowley and Aziraphale, even if they have to deal with the Metatron intruding on those memories and trying to separate them in the end.
For whatever it's worth to anyone on the character point of view question, I do think Crowley is the closest thing we can have to that.
Aziraphale is the surface-level point of view and messenger.
Crowley is the layered-level point of view and messenger.
On my first viewing, the Good Omens 2 story felt more like Aziraphale's story. It was disappointing and felt quite lacking on Crowley's end of things.
But when I dug deeper and found the games, things changed. I can't see the extent of Crowley's point of view on the story without playing the games. I can't speak for other people, but that's how I feel. The story is amazingly and beautifully different with the games. Since I have played them, I do think finding 6 Threshold Tricks is a big deal, especially with my limited understanding of how much The Pocket Trick affects so much else.
The Threshold Tricks help make the bookend nature between Crowley and Muriel scenes stand out. In turn, Crowley himself having bookend solo cuts for the season stands out more too. He's who we saw first in Before the Beginning. He's who we will see last before the credits slide his cut over to the side and start rolling. He "pockets" the story before those credits start.
So, that's why I have a hard time with the hair in the minisodes and understanding the character point of view. I'll still pass along my limited understanding throughout these posts.
...
Episode Title
This episode has got some nerve being titled The Clue!
It has the first "touch" of The Bigger Thresholds Trick, two more touches for The Sunglasses Trick, and the first two touches of The Pocket Trick. The Pocket Trick starts this episode—The Pocket Trick!!!
The Pocket Trick is loaded with so many clues, such as the most likely place to discover the existence of the Tied Hands.
This episode also has a reflection of Aziraphale in Crowley's sunglasses as a clue for The Window Trick.
There's like 10 million clues in this episode!
If the challenge is to guess The Clue that is not the record but to pick the most special clue of the clues or something, my answer is the Pocket Frame touch point in The Pocket Trick, Triple Part 2. That Pocket Frame is for capturing the Green with the rainbow. It happens before Aziraphale even "proposes".
Here is the video frame in question:
Tumblr media
I will go over it more when I get to that part of the episode.
But anyway...
I'm using Crowley's name as a general preference and figuring I can get away with it because the official subtitles do.
Images are brightened as I see fit.
...
Hairstyle Notes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crowley's hair is shorter than what's going to appear later, but in this minisode, short does not necessarily trend human as it does compared to the present day storyline. It doesn't necessarily mean Crowley's point of view or Aziraphale's point of view either.
This length goes down mostly to his shoulders. When he bows his head with the scroll, some skin can be seen at the neckline of his cloak.
The hair is not just short though. The sides of Crowley's hair are more fluffy and curly than what's going to be shown when he has shorter hair around Job and Sitis.
What's worth considering about the space?
Earth is a lot younger.
This reading looks more like "open" because of at least two factors that aren't Aziraphale or the goats or Crowley himself.
There are no humans in this scene.
Not only are there no humans, there are no human-built or human-inhabited structures with thresholds visible. I keep looking in case I missed it somewhere, and I'm not finding them.
The space is wide, open, and vast. There is a ravine in the background.
I still can't find any humans or human-built structures.
I can find goats, water, plant life, and rocks. There is also a supernatural ball of fire active during most of the scene though it is not formed until after the scene starts and dissipates before the scene's end.
In this particular story within the story, a stronger curl or fluff in the hair is associated with what most closely matches a "supernatural" reading later when human-built structures are involved.
...
Earthly Objects
(For reference: Earthly Objects)
Crowley touches one of the goats. Aziraphale touches a rock by eventually going to stand up on a specific one. Crowley touches the scroll.
Neither addresses the other by direct name though Crowley is addressed as "Demon" by title initially. The names said are Almighty God, Almighty, God, Satan, and Job.
Questions include "Ah, shall we begin?" and "Where was I?"
Time to pay attention to the pockets.
With the changed costume, there are no present day Tied Hands. However, quickly in their place are threads on Crowley's chest that form pockets over him already.
Crowley creates a pocket between himself and the goat just by grabbing it.
He is pocketed between goats just before he creates the large supernatural ball of fire. Not only that, he briefly crosses his left arm horizontally above his right arm when "Land of Uz" appears on screen.
With his right-side snake tattoo being more evidently visible on his face than in preceding cuts, Crowley crosses his arms upward, then uncrosses them as his means to create the giant fireball.
When Aziraphale shows up, Crowley creates pockets between his arms and his head before fully lowering his arms. As a general guess, that helps keep the ball of fire where it is above him.
The scroll itself creates a massive pocket over the landscape with a small opening between Crowley and Aziraphale themselves::
Tumblr media
Crowley is maintaining position under his fireball until he unleashes it. It's like his own temporary supernatural roof.
Aziraphale is notably touching his own robe at times during the scene.
When the crows appear, they are visually pocketed between Aziraphale's and Crowley's heads.
My tangential reading to improve my play has me at finishing Pyramids by Terry Pratchett and starting on Guards! Guards!, which is the book I've found most commonly recommended for reading first instead of going by published order. Yes, I still chose publishing order anyway. Pyramids has a funny-but-cruel "short-handed" joke, which is not a pun I've thought of yet, so I'll be keeping it in mind.
I'm also on The Sandman Volume 2 by Neil Gaiman. I'm in the early part of it but The Threshold was heavily emphasized with the introduction of Desire, and I've been emphasizing thresholds as quite important for this Good Omens 2 story in my own theories.
...
Story Commentary
Tumblr media
The opening immediately gives us a year, 2500 BC, with some film grain on the cut as a visual alert that we have entered a story within the story we are watching. This part also helps alert us to something like a movie and different than the sign boards used in season 1. Between Crowley and Aziraphale, Crowley is the one the story tells us who likes movies. He'll mention a "Richard Curtis film" later this episode and was at a movie theater while waiting out whenever Hell would come for him in season 1.
In other words, when looking for a point of view, that's a likely clue, especially since much like Before the Beginning, Crowley is shown first, and he is alone.
Once Aziraphale arrives, does the scene shift to his point of view?
If so, I think it's shared because the stories themselves are like coded messages written between the players, mainly Crowley and Aziraphale, with some potential Metatron invasive edits.
Due to the scenes with the kids later, it's possible the camera angles hint to the point of view, at least sometimes. So, if that's the case, I think that Aziraphale's POV on Crowley is at least the 3/4ths Crowley's left view of Crowley's upper body and face.
That's this general angle:
Tumblr media
This particular scene is exaggerated in ways that remind me of a cartoon, such as the scroll rolling its way all over the vast space. That's a clue for someone figuring out the hair about the nature of the space too. That's the type of clue I would expect from Crowley instead of Aziraphale because again, between the two of them, he's the one who is known to watch cartoons.
The scroll appears from nowhere, and once dropped, it doesn't actually go anywhere in the scene itself either. It's not on the ground. It went into that same "pocket" dimension other cartoon items do when items are grabbed for the convenience of a scene.
This scene is a parallel to the closing scene of the minisode, which is far more serious in tone. That makes it the front bookend, or part of an outer pocket, to the minisode itself.
Aziraphale alerts us to how "unreal" the scene is by saying, "This can't be real". The line itself then has two opposing meanings. The memory story can't be real, or isn't quite real, but the contents of the scroll allowing Crowley to destroy everything Job owns is "real".
Hence, maybe things didn't happen this exact way back then, but the messages inside the story are still going to be real enough to hold value to the characters.
In the dialogue, Crowley at one point says, "I am a demon. Maybe I'm lying." I can't find the post I have in mind, but I know there was one where the author remarked that was a signal for Aziraphale's POV since he talks like that in season 1. When Crowley says, "Would I lie to you?" Aziraphale says, "Well, obviously. You're a demon. That's what you do." That tracks...except of course if this memory is how Aziraphale got such notions into his head to begin with. No one ever said the game was fair.
But POV aside, I feel it worth pointing out that this logic works under the premise of "correlation equals causation." As in, the statement implies because Crowley is a demon, he is a liar. With the Rule of Three in Earthly Objects, this logic will repeat two more times during the episode. It will also show that extremely similar literal statements can have strongly different contextual meanings. Here, it means Crowley himself is suspect. Later, it means Crowley was manipulative to use Aziraphale to get him into the mansion and reach the kids. With the concluding scene of the minisode, it will mean a lie to oneself as a shield for admitting loneliness.
As I prefer to interpret the story, Crowley is not a liar because he is a demon. Crowley is a liar because he uses deception as a strategy, for his own side. That can be part of his job as a demon or part of coping with his own existence.
I have to do a lot of questioning for correlation and causation to play the games in the story itself.
In trying to examine how the spaces read Crowley, a few things came up in my notes that are worth mentioning here.
Fire is a relevant element to Crowley himself and occasionally the only visible light source within a scene. That's almost true of this one. Presumably, there is a sun out there somewhere to light the day, but it's never actually shown on screen. Aziraphale's halo—or whatever that thing is surrounding him—also acts as a temporary light source.
However, while the supernatural ball of fire is actively in place, it is shown to affect the lighting on Crowley himself, making his red hair look all the more red, for example.
General reminder, that the quote on the matchbox shown in episode 1 refers to "sparks of fire". I've mentioned I think a lot of things already suggest that link between that quote and Crowley. Fire is going to show up repeatedly.
Another thing that comes up is...hats. Or, in this case, a headband. This headband itself actually changes within the spaces too. Why hats? Why head gear that's not just his sunglasses? Do I have to start paying attention to other head accessories like earrings and regular eye glasses? I don't know. I haven't figured it out. What I have figured out is that at the end of The Door Trick, a symbol of fire can be found to Crowley's right, and a hat worn by a relevant passing human can be found to his left. He is "pocketed" between these two things that keep appearing in the spaces of the minisodes as if they have some meaning. A hat-wearing human was behind him for another crucial part in the preceding cut of Crowley facing the camera.
These are things I can also find in a number of places in season 1 once I know to look for them.
I have mentioned that I suspect Muriel's helmet helps them somehow in their part with The Bigger Thresholds Trick and being unable to fathom how I could ever figure that one out. It's still true.
If I progress further, I will update accordingly as time allows.
Yet another thing that comes up is...roofs. Roofs?!
Yeah, roofs. I was very perplexed at that.
This game is a mind trip, let me tell you. I wrote it out in my notes about my confusion for why the story wanted me to figure out something with the roofs. I know I've seen the roof of the elevator when Crowley and Muriel enter. I know Crowley touches the edge of the roof to his car in The Window Trick.
After reviewing The Door Trick and The Door Catch yet again, but not finding whatever mysterious roof thing I thought I should, I decided to look at the ending credits.
I am not joking that I wrote this in my notes:
"Why am I saving and watching the credits when the elevator roof is still lacking? What does my subconscious sense as relevant that I don't? Is that what's happening? So confused."
And do you know what happened?
Here is what I wrote:
"This game is such a mind trip.
Unbelievable.
My subconscious knew to check that Crowley raised his head enough to make a fucking self-pocket of hair that can be seen in line with the roof of his car when Aziraphale smiles before they are both blurred and disappear from the credits. WTF.
Crowley narrows his eyes when Aziraphale smiles.
That's what my subconscious wanted me to find because of the roof thing!!!"
I can't believe this game!!!
Here's my post about it before publishing this one: If no one ever told you...
Alas, while I have found the fire-and-hat pocket for the end of The Door Trick, I really don't understand why this story thinks those things are worth considering or what they mean. I just know I found a pattern that I suspect is intentional.
Anyway, time to move on...
Muriel
(For reference: Bookend Buddies - Crowley and Muriel (Part 2))
The scroll minisode scene acts as a front bookend to Muriel's one and only minisode scene in the season. Muriel is wearing a headband with some gold. It is not the exact same headband that Crowley wears, but the similarity is nonetheless noted.
I went ahead and made a composite picture to look at both of them their headbands:
Tumblr media
The scroll looks very similar to the one Crowley held that disappeared in the preceding scene. Meaning, it's a same-or-similar earthly object they each touch even though they have no other form of interaction during the minisode.
Both Muriel and Aziraphale stand the entire time. Muriel has a desk much like what can be found in the present day scenes, but they have no chair as Michael does. The desk has folders on it too. These things remind of me of the present day form of Heaven since Muriel had a desk and folders there too.
For pockets, Muriel makes one with their hand and the scroll, some pockets between themself and the desk, and some pockets with their own hands.
Satan is brought up in the conversation but not the actual demons working for him. That is to say, Crowley is not named specifically in this conversation.
Muriel has no interaction with Gabriel. The two are not on screen together during the entirety of episode 2. Aziraphale talks to Gabriel and Michael when not with Muriel. When a number of angels show up at the end, Muriel and Uriel are not among them. Whereas both Crowley and Muriel touch the scroll, it is laid out on the floor when Gabriel is on screen, so he never physically touches it.
Crowley's scene is the front bookend to Muriel's scene. Gabriel's scene is the back bookend to Muriel's scene. Meanwhile, Aziraphale is a common thread between all three.
...
That's it for this post. Sometimes I edit my posts, FYI.

Ninjago Fic Rec Week: Day 5
Prompts: Multichaps / Nya Recs! *shorter one today, I'm not feeling too well rn -w-)
Multichap Recs-
Saturniidae: *takes long hard swig* This one's a doozy, fellas. Beautifully melancholic Cole-centric fic detailing the descent of their team reflected in their beloved Ultra Dragon amongst other things, and the stinging realization that what we need isn't always going to be what we want...or in the ways we think. I still think about this fic from time to time and have to take a moment of silence for my heart snksnksnk
Father Always Liked You Best: Another Shiny special, this time with some Garmadon angst and what the view of his gradually splintering off from his brother (And very quickly reminding me what my favorite take on Garmadon is. Spoilers: IT'S THIS. The very last line reminded me of how hard it hit when I first read this aaaaaaa)
Five Times Morro Trusted Wu: AND THE ONE TIME HE DIDN'T. Or, the fic that sits at the very core of my tempered adoration for the ghost kid.
Habits of Home(lessness): Putting this here cuz I'm once again mad I dropped the ball on Jay's day lmao!! In which Jay's "normal" childhood growing up is very abnormal in the face of the rest of his team (and he is THROWN when it comes to trying to figure out why)
Nya Recs-
Ninjago: The Nya Perspective: THE NYA FIC I'VE SEARCHED MY WHOLE LIFE FOR (aka maybe twoish weeks? Three? This has been a long drag of a month, man) ANYWAY it's the series retold from Nya's point of view and it is MMMMMM peak Nya. Peak Nya. Very highly reccomended.
selkie: short, sweet, and a little bit haunting, a reflective Nya Post-Seabound (......with a solution to the 'being the sea' problem I also thought really should've happened, or at least considered, but give the flow of this fic...perhaps, maybe not)
Please Just Don't Break an Ankle: Nya, Skylor, and Pixal getting the chance to girl-out and just be friends if not sisters!!!!! But, there is a lot of fun dynamics with everyone, though big sister Skylor has me by the throat!!! And Nya getting the chance to be just a little bit vulnerable :3
this grueling cycle: mmmmmmBACK at it again with the pre-pilots fics!! Nya and Kai in the ~before~ times, following the siblings' clashing opinions on the disappearance of their parents. Very descriptive and ripe with characterization!
Blue-Black: Nya and, ironically, the impressions that the color green has on her overtime. She also has synesthesia <3
déjà-vu: Y'all know I'm always a sucker for stories where Nya and Lloyd has out their feelings with each other, and this is definitely towards the top of the list! The angst burns so good <3
Skating on Thin Ice (Can Get You Into Hotwater): A multichapter braincellshipping fic in a hockey/ice skating au that I haven't actually finished, but a) I loved what I read of it so far, b) the character dynamics are sooooo much fun, even beyond the ship, c) the concept is AMAZING, and d) it's by an author who's made this list already, THEREFORE I trust this story with my life. It needs a little extra love <3
Nya and the Song of Sirens: Poetic Nya stream of consciousness thingy during some Crystalized events, I don't talk about this one a lot because writing it stressed me out and I didn't think it was anywhere close to my best snksnksnk, but upon rereading again for myself, I'm like "whoa, maybe I really had something here". I should be nicer to myself, and it is very potently Nya, thus *plunks down rec*

The Velvet Dark: The Short Trip Where the Master Does Some Stuff
Okay, there are probably enough Short Trips featuring the Master for the title to not make sense. This is just another Weird Doctor Who Thing I want to do a breakdown of. Honestly, as far as Weird Doctor Who Things go, this one's only slightly weirder than what you'd see on television. But Turlough's in it and he suffers, so let's take a look:
Tumblr media
So we start of with Vislor being spelled wrong. I'm pretty sure this isn't the only short trip that does this.
So, we're on Earth, probably in England, and probably in the late 20th or early 21st century, but the details don't really matter. The Doctor is there to attend the Master's funeral, since he apparently died of natural causes in an ordinary Earth old folks' home. The Doctor is genuinely mourning his old friend while Tegan and Turlough try really hard to be nice about it. We start in Tegan's PoV and she misses Nyssa. Also Turlough has a big fur coat for cool rainy funerals now.
Tumblr media
After the funeral, the Team goes to where the Master apparently spent his final days to collect his stuff and see if he left any interesting traps for them before he died. Tegan still doesn't trust Turlough, nor does she like that the Doctor seems to listen to him more than he listens to her.
Tumblr media
They find nothing interesting, the Doctor sulks for a bit, and Tegan loses patience with the whole thing and decides to go get a cup of tea. She offers to get some for the others.
Tumblr media
Tegan stumbles upon the plot when a nurse looking for a missing old lady has found a tiny doll of the lady in her bed that looks a bit too realistic. Tegan knows what's up here and begins her investigation.
Meanwhile, the Doctor and Turlough have lunch. Turlough has no idea why the Doctor wants to eat cafeteria food.
Tumblr media
This is kind of a reverse of a bit in Kinda where the Doctor and Adric get some food, but Adric is still hungry after he finishes his and the Doctor gives him the rest of his own food. He's a growing boy. Turlough is just miserable.
The Doctor, who isn't actually an idiot, is still trying to figure out what happened to the Master and he decides to ask the elderly.
Tumblr media
Did Turlough not know his grandparents or are old people built different on Trion?
An old man talks to them for a little bit about how the recently dead guy mostly kept to himself but he doesn't want to miss the next show on TV. The Doctor and Turlough banter over this for a bit.
Tumblr media
Yeah, this place is supposed run by a Mr. Tase, which might just be the laziest silly anagram the Master's ever used.
Meanwhile, Tegan and her nurse friend have gone to the boiler room to find that a lot of dolls that look a bit too similar to the patients here are people burned. The Master confronts them. He's burned too. He's still the Ainley Master in theory but he looks like he did before he stole Nyssa's dad's body for reasons that will be explained later.
While going to confront "Mr Tase", the Doctor and Turlough suddenly remember that Tegan exists and find out that she might be in trouble.
Tumblr media
So Turlough goes down to the boiler room, finds Tegan, and they're both captured.
The Doctor meets with Mr. Tase and immediately calls him out on being the Master. The Master doesn't want to kill him this time (as if he ever genuinely does). He just needs the Doctor's help with a thing and he knows that the Doctor will refuse to do the thing, so he got the companions captured to ensure his cooperation.
However cooperative the Doctor might be in this situation, Tegan is not. This causes a bit of a kerfuffle.
Tumblr media
The nursing home was the Master's TARDIS btw. He materialized his TARDIS around the nursing home and absorbed it. Or something. None of the things the Master does make sense.
Anyway, the TCE (shrinky death ray thing) was fired. What was that about? They wait a bit before telling you.
Tumblr media
So, the TCE has a shrink ray version of a stun setting where it shrinks you but doesn't kill you. The Master just never uses it. Except now, mostly just to fuck with the Doctor. Also, instead of shrinking Tegan, who was actively causing trouble for him, the Master shrunk Turlough. The whole "surrendering and standing still" thing made him an easier target and the Master is a dick.
Tegan feels pretty bad about the whole thing and the Adric flashbacks it gave the Doctor.
Tumblr media
Then, things get complicated, because it's the Master. Apparently, the Time Lords sort of half-exiled/half-executed him, taking away his stolen body, but his life force hung around by sheer force of will and he's actually been an invisible being in a castle this entire time. The burnt Master is his Watcher, who he's been acting through. He wants to do a thing with some mirrors to steal one of the Doctor's regenerations. I really can't explain it any better than that.
The Master continues to fuck with the Doctor by hypnotizing Tegan and we get...this:
Tumblr media
Yeah. That.
Anyway, hypnotized Tegan is commanded to kill the Doctor and the Doctor is unable to fight back in any way without causing permanent damage to Turlough via the Master shaking him around inside a snuffbox, beating him up.
So, the Doctor screams and breaks all the magic mirrors because he can just do that now. I think the Fourth Doctor might've done something like this once, but it's still a bit anti-climactic here.
We just sort of cut to the Team all restored to normal trying to decide what to do with the Master.
Tumblr media
This wrap-up conversation gives off this vibe that the Doctor just can't understand why Tegan and Turlough are so upset here. But it might just be a side-effect of this story about the Doctor still having some emotional attachment to the Master despite everything being in a hurry to end.
Or maybe the narrator doesn't get it:
Tumblr media
I'm pretty sure anyone would be upset after being shrunk and kept in a snuffbox and might not have a whole lot of patience for someone protecting the person responsible.
Still, in the end, the Doctor sort of tries to humor him a bit...
Tumblr media
How their complete trust was restored is unclear. They just decide to stop disagreeing with him for Reasons.
So, an interesting story, the a bit of a dumb one. I'm not gonna complain about not being able to follow the Master's plan because all of his plans are like that.
Ultimately, I think the biggest problem with this one is that the 5 isn't the Doctor you want for this story. We're exploring the Doctor's relationship with the Master. No matter how many times he tries to, and no matter what he says, the Master can't kill the Doctor because he likes him too much. At the same time, no matter how many terrible things he does, no matter how personal, no matter the scale, the Doctor can never defeat the Master completely, because he likes him too much.
The problem is that 5, though it was still a bit of a thing with him, isn't as friendly with the Master as most other incarnations. 3 treated the Master's antics like a game, but when 5 comes along, the Master destroys a quarter of the universe and traumatizes all of his companions in rapid succession. It's not fun anymore. The Master still thinks of it as a game, but the Doctor's no longer amused. This all resets later on, especially after the Time War, but for 5, that's our trajectory.
Think about how things between 5 and the Master end in Planet of Fire. The Master has pushed the Doctor so far that he can stand there and watch him burn alive. One of the things that sets 5 off is Kamelion's death. The Doctor had to kill Kamelion because the Master kept fucking with him. If Kamelion were an actual character, this moment might have the emotional weight it needed. The Master spends 5's run harming his companions. This is what really changed things. During 3's era, the Master developed a respect for Jo, the only TARDIS-traveling companion he had a chance to interact with. She almost became an extension of the Doctor. The Delgado Master, outside of a bit of hypnosis, doesn't harm the Doctor's companions. The Ainley Master does. 5's first story has the Master spend most of it torturing Adric. So, the entire dynamic of 5 and the Master is 5 losing his compassion for the Master because he hurt his companions.
This is a story for a later Doctor with some distance from these events. That's the serious problem. But the story is very silly, so serious problems aren't that big a deal, really.

sorry for this random question... but did you get the whole shika's plan at the end of the new chapter? because firstly when i was reading some fan's translation of the chapter he planned to separate the team into two groups or sm... like he wanted to accompany hima. but in the official translation he said that hima needs to be with them all. so then i don't understant the whole point.
Okay, Anon... I'm actually quite intrigued by your ask.
But I'm afraid that I can't help you here, because there are certain subtleties of translation. And I only speak Japanese in my dreams.
But I tried to figure this issue out! And this is what I have...
There're 3 different translations (only what I was able to find)
The first one that can count as an official, I suppose (or just of good quality)
Translation #1
Tumblr media
(by Mari Morimoto)
And also I found a very similar translation that was made before
Translation #2
Tumblr media
(by SALADSANDBOLTS)
And I suppose I understand what is bothering you... Like Shikadai told: "As long as Himawari with us... They probably won't unleash this attack again"
So, it actually doesn't make any sense... Because Jūra already attacked them. And he clearly reported them that InoShikaCho won't be an obstacle. Unfortinatelly, by this time, the team 10 isn't able to protect Hima and themselves (that's why Himawari will rescue them). What about another translation... My guess is that the person who did this may have used Google translate (or something like that because their translation is more literal). And when I used it I got a similar result.
Translation #3
Tumblr media
(that was on https://ww9.readnaruto.com/, but right now I can't find the author, I'm sorry)
Despite that, I agree that the whole idea with a division souds more logical. Because if they'll become two different groups, there will be more opportunity to throw Jūra off the scent. Thus he will think that Hima flew away on a bird, for example, while she will go in opposite direction with Shikadai.
After all this question is not so trivial...
That's why I decided to check the original text and ascertained if I can understand something (a spoiler: I can't)
Tumblr media
I used G-translate and I think I found a part you noticed when you read the translation #3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I was trying to find a context in which the speakers can use this (and there's only one thing that almost what he said, but with る instead of り at the end. And we can translate it as 'I'm next to you' or 'I'm beside you')
I translated remaining text. I tried to analyze every Hiragana character and their compatibility. But it didn't help me to understand exactly if Shikadai was talking about a group of him and Himawari or about the whole team. Maybe, if enyone who speaks Japanese read this, they can give us their comments and interpretation. However, it's still possible the kids will follow Shikadai's strategy and we will see what he really meant.
Also I believe skilled translators see all necessary details and there's a reason why they transmitted it as Shikadai's talking about the whole team 10. Yet it still can be misunderstanding.
Anyway, if is it important for the story? I'm not sure. I'm just a weird language nerd who would like to analyze as many details related to Hima as possible.
Thanks for this random question!

Hidden Away - Chapter 18
Tumblr media
pairing/AU: Javier Peña x female!reader
summary: When the DEU fails to catch Escobar you are sent to Bogotá to help the team.
warnings: I don't understand this so just gonna say mature content, 18+
word count: 2200+
Hello guys. My life has changed in the last few days and I'm always tired and, because the interactions are getting less and less with every chapter I'm thinking about ending this fic with one more episodes after this one, I have ready for a while now. So, you guys enjoy these last 2 chapters. It won't have a definite ending but well. Thanks for all who read it.
Chapter 18
During the night you had to take him to the bathroom again, when he called you softly and shyly.
“Sorry, but my bladder has a mind of its own.”, he said with his face flushed for being in such a vulnerable situation. He felt more ashamed for needing help to go to the bathroom than for getting stiff in front of the person helping him.
"Don’t worry. I was already awake.”
Once again he leaned on your shoulders and you carried him to the toilet.
“And don't you dare drop your boxers. You can pee with them strapped above your knees. If I see it out again, I swear I'll close the door and leave you there.”
“I promise I'll hold them up. I've already learned my lesson.”
"I hope so. Then call me.” And less than a minute later he was calling you again. You took him to bed and asked if he needed anything else. He said no but you weren't satisfied.
“I'll get you a glass of water. With so much liquid coming out, there must also be liquid going in.”
“By the way, can you get me a cigarette?”
“You are kidding me right? At least until the stitches come off, you don't smoke. And even after that. We are still trying to figure out if the transfusion will have any consequences. That's why they say that men mature much later than women. I don't think they ever mature.”, you said shaking your head in disapproval. “I'll get you the water.” You turned your back and went into the kitchen to fill the glass you placed on the nightstand next to his bed. He insisted again.
“Seriously Y/N. Isn't it bad enough for me to be stuck here in bed, I can’t even smoke?”
“Nor drink.”
“Maybe it's really better if you go away.”, he ended up saying with his arms crossed over his chest.
“And I will, out of here to the living room. And don't worry, tomorrow I'll buy you some nicotine pills.”
“Thank you.”, he said in a louder tone so that you, that were already closing the door, could hear him.
The sun had barely begun to rise when you left Peña's apartment and went to yours to get ready for the day of work ahead of you. You made a double dose of breakfast and went back to the house next door, already with all your things in hand, ready to leave when the nurse arrived.
You got to his room and knocked on the door. From the other side you only heard a very soft moan. You opened it slowly and went in to find Javi still sleeping, your words making him complain without him noticing.
“Peña, wake up.”, you said while grabbing his arm to shake him lightly.
“Hummm, solo un poco mas, mi sueño.” You quickly gave him a small slap in the whole of his head.
“Hey, lover boy. You’re watching too many movies.” He woke up suddenly with a jump.
“You crazy? Why did you wake me up like that?”
“Because you wanted solo un poco mas, mi sueño. Since the arm shake didn't work, I thought you wanted a little more power. Solo un poco mas.” Javi didn't understand why you kept repeating those words.
“What are you talking about? Don’t you know I'm sick?"
“I'm the one who's going to get sick of putting up with you. Look, here's something to eat.”
"Seriously? And you won't eat with me?"
“I already ate at my house. I'm just waiting for the nurse to come to go to work.”
“You are really going to leave me alone with a stranger.”
“As if you bothered to get to know them all. You are used to having strangers in your house.” And saying that you heard someone knocking on the door. “It must be her.” You went to greet her and took her to Peña's room so that she could get to know him.
“This is... Sorry, I don't know your name.”, you said looking at her.
“Maria.”, she replied stretching out her hand for Javi to shake without even turning her face towards you.
“Javier Peña.”, he said in return for the handshake.
"I know who you are. I've wanted to meet you for a long time.”
"And that’s it. I will go to work so you guys can get to know each other better. Maria, he pees a lot. You'll love it. And you, Peña. I know she's your style, but don't you dare leave her unable to walk. I won't get you another one. And watch out for the stitches.”, You repeated your warning in the form of a joke. "See you later."
“Y/N…”, he started saying but you were already leaving. “See you later.”
And you left the room towards the apartment door, not before hearing Maria telling Peña to get up because she was going to give him a bath.
You didn't want to admit it, but the heat you felt on your way to work had little to do with the atmospheric temperature and more with the jealousy you felt because of 'Maria'. She must be a saint with that name, you thought to yourself. Don't be stupid. He's single, he can do whatever he wants. At least I'm not there to listen to them fuck.
You arrived at your destination and went to work.
“So Y/N, how are you?”, Steve asked, as soon as he saw you arriving at your desk.
“Everything is great, can't you see?”, you replied too aggressively, as you sat down in your chair.
“Is something wrong? Is everything okay with Javi?”
"With him? Couldn’t be better. Why?"
“Calm down, did I say something wrong?”, Murphy ended up asking worriedly. You took your hands to your face to rub it.
"Sorry. I barely slept. Peña's sofa is very uncomfortable.”
"I believe you. Do you want me to stay there tonight?”
"That would be amazing. At least it would be easier for you to carry him to the bathroom.”
"Excuse me?"
“Of course, do you think the bullet took away his urge to piss? It even looks like it increased it.”
“Ok, maybe you can last a few more nights sleeping on his couch.”
“Yeah, I thought so. But don't worry. I'm already used to little sleep. And you, have you arrived long ago?”
“No, I just got here. Apparently they still haven't managed to get La Quica to talk.”
“They’ve only had him for less than 3 days. He will break. Sooner or later."
"I hope so. He is our last chance in finding Escobar.”
And the day was spent reading documents, listening to wiretaps, always hoping to hear Pablo Escobar's name on one of them, and waiting for news from the Search Bloc that continued to interrogate La Quica.
At the end of the day you left and immediately went to Peña's house to see if he was okay. You opened the door slowly and entered. As you looked into his room, you saw him lying down, smiling at Maria as she ran her hand over his arm. He looked out and saw you with your eyes fixed on the two of them. You suddenly woke up from the trance you had entered.
"Hello. I asked maintenance for the key to your apartment so I wouldn't have to knock on the door. You could be sleeping and resting and I didn't want to wake you up with the noise. But I see you're wide awake so I better go home and take my shower. I'll be back in a little while so Maria can leave. See you then.” Javi couldn't even say anything, looking at you and your clumsy attitude, almost running away from him. You entered your house and immediately opened the living room window, the heat coursing through your body again, almost suffocating. You took a longer shower, not wanting to go back to the neighboring apartment, even though you knew you would have to. You got dressed and went to the next door, knocking this time. Maria went to open the door and took the opportunity to leave, saying goodbye to you.
“See you tomorrow,” she said.
“See you tomorrow.”, you replied slamming the door behind her. You went to Peña's room and threw a small box at him.
“Here are your pills.”
"Thank you.", he replied while catching them still in the air with both hands.
“So, have you had dinner yet?”
“No, I was waiting for you.”
"What? Did she cook at least?”
"I don't think so."
“Of course not, she was too busy.”
“As a matter of fact, she was busy. When you arrived, for example, she was checking my blood pressure.”, he continued, feeling that he needed to justify what you had seen. Suddenly the heat you felt in your body seemed to go all over your face, leaving you completely flushed.
“Ah, the blood pressure. Was it okay?”
“Perfect.”, he replied, with a mischievous smile on his lips when he saw your reaction to his words.
"Then I'm going to my house to get something to cook."
“Don't worry about it. Did you not make too much soup yesterday?”
“Yes, it´s still there but don't you want something better than soup?”
"Better? It was great. And that way you don't have to get more tired, after a day of work”
“Okay, I’ll get the soup then.” And a little while later you came back with two trays, with a plate of soup and a glass of water on each.
“So how was the day at the embassy?”
"A drought. We're looking for a needle in a haystack and I've had enough. One day I'll get tired of it, and will be on the street, knocking from door to door until I find that beast.”
“I hope I recover and we're both going. I want to be there when you find him.”
“Then you have to behave well to recover quickly. I don't have the patience to wait.”
“Not even for me?”
“Hum...?”, you asked, raising your head in his direction.
“For your partner.”
“Oh?”
“What did you think I meant?”
“Me? Nothing. I just hadn't heard what you said. Hence the hum? Because I didn't listen.”, you ended up saying, lowering your head towards the soup again.
When you finished eating, you cleaned everything up and went back to Peña.
“Do you want to go to the bathroom again before I go to the living room?”
“Are you leaving already? Why don't you stay and talk a little longer?"
“Didn't you talk with Maria today?”, you asked as you went back to your chair placed next to him.
"Not really."
"Yeah, I really believe that. After the bath first thing in the morning you must have occupied you mouths with other things.”
“After the shower in the morning I came back to bed and she went to watch TV.” He saw your startled expression. “What did you think was going to happen?”
“With the way she hit on you first thing in the morning?”
“Yes, and she even tried to get something while she was giving me a bath. But I reminded her that that wasn't what she was here for."
"Seriously?"
“I already told you that this is not what I want anymore. That I changed.”
“You changed? Don’t say. You are gay now.”
“No, I'm not gay. I just met someone.” Your stomach began to turn at hearing such a confession.
“Someone uh? The ‘mi sueño’?”
"Who?"
“This morning, when I tried to wake you up, you were dreaming about someone you called 'mi sueño'. You said it out loud.”
"Really?"
"Yes. It's the person you met, right?"
“Yes, it’s her.”
"That’s great. I hope she makes you happy.”, you said with a small smile on your lips. “And why ‘mi sueño’? You like ‘mi cariño’ so much.”
"Because for now she's only mine when I'm sleeping, in my dreams." His gaze turned to his bedroom window, seeing the street lights. "That's good enough for now."
“Well, I have to meet that woman.”
"One day."
The two didn't speak for a few minutes, until you broke the silence.
“Well, go take a piss so I can go to the living room.”
“Okay boss.”
When he went back to bed you said goodbye to him.
“I'm going to see if I can rest because last night I didn't sleep at all. You know, call when you need it. Today I brought a book to entertain myself, so maybe just scream because I might be to focused on reading.”
“And why don’t you stay here with me?”
"What?"
“Hey, don't worry. It's just because you just said you can't sleep. You’ll have to be here all night, right? Maybe you can sleep next to me, like the other times.”
“Hmmm… Better not.”
"Why? If it helps you.”
“Because I can hurt you at night by moving. I'm sure you're sore all over, both from the wound and from spending so many hours in bed.”
"But..."
"But nothing. Don't you want to go knocking on doors with me looking for Escobar? So, we can't take any chances. See you tomorrow."
"Ok, see you tomorrow."

Better Odds
(a thirty-eight minutes episode tag. also on AO3)
"Major."
McKay's found John in the room he's been told is his office, his bright blue eyes flicking nervously between John's neck and his face. John resists the urge to rub his fingers across the still-tender tissue: he knows it's going to scar, but he's also pretty sure McKay's not seeing John's skin—he's seeing the bug, seeing thick black legs wrapped around John's throat.
He's probably hearing the way John'd screamed, every time they tried something new to take it off. Every time he tried something to take it off, because despite the obvious, unvarnished terror, he'd been right by John's side with Teyla and Ford the whole time, trying to free him. John knows what it's like to hear screams in your head, screams you'd caused, and it doesn’t matter much whether you’d been trying to help or harm. This isn't what he'd hoped for, when he asked McKay to join his team, but it's what they've got, and John likes to think he’s a realist.
"What can I do for you?" John asks, slouching back in his chair.
McKay's mouth twitches into something that seems like it's trying to be a smile, and he steps into the room, looking around in a way that's sort of distractedly nonchalant. There's not much to see, though, and after a moment he seems to deflate, throwing himself down onto the chair opposite John's desk—John had actually tried to avoid getting a second chair in here, on the hope that it would prevent anyone from staying long, but Elizabeth had very pointedly brought and then left her own, the second time she'd come to see him.
"I, um, I just wanted to say, well," McKay starts, winding up to his point with meaningless filler words in a way that John, for some reason, seems to find charming rather than grating, "it was, uh, a very…elucidating experience, spending time on a gate team, but, I, I, I don't feel I'm particularly cut out for the," and there's a pause, accompanied by an expansive hand gesture, "the mortal peril under crushing time constraints, and all that."
"You're saying you want off the team?" John asks. He'd wondered if this would happen, once the adrenaline of the danger and the satisfaction of the rescue wore off. Doesn't mean he's gonna take it lying down, though.
"Yes," McKay says, nodding. "Glad you understand."
"Thing is," John says, letting his voice flatten into its slowest drawl, "I don't think we'd've made it if you weren't there."
McKay's eyes widen, briefly, confirming John's suspicions that this is a man who's unaccustomed to appreciation freely given. His chin comes up, then, posture straightening into his already-familiar blustering stance. "Well, of course. That much is obvious."
"Well," John replies, tilting his head, "see, I kind of wanna keep staying alive.”
"So do I," McKay says, quickly. "That's why I'd rather, you know…stay here." His hands flex around nothing, his eyes drifting again and again to the side of John's neck.
John wets his lips, tries to figure out how to play this. "I obviously can't, and won't, force you to stay on the team."
McKay blinks, narrowing his eyes. "But?"
"Our odds're better with you there." John shrugs. "I like better odds."
McKay's breathing picks up, his eyes wide, a little bit unfocused. John knows he's back in that jumper with a ticking clock on his back. Knows there's nothing to do but wait and see which way this goes.
"What if…" McKay's voice is quiet, thin, and he's looking determinedly at the floor. "What if I—I mean, I'm good, I'm—I'm very good, I'm the best, actually, I know that, but—" his tone has gone manic, now, and he raises his face, his eyes pinning John like wide-open sky, above the cloud line. "What if I can't?"
McKay snaps his mouth shut, takes several panicked-sounding breaths through his nose, and then looks away, voice settling into that near-whisper once more when he continues: "Save everyone, I mean. Next time."
John’s stomach churns. He thinks, not for the first time, not even for the first time today, that they’ve brought a bunch of scientists into a goddamn war zone. It’s not fair. None of this is fair. He touches the side of his neck, tries to tamp down the shudder.
“You can’t always save everyone,” John says, because McKay deserves the truth, and because John needs to know if he really is the type of man John thinks he is. “You just…do the best you can, because the only other option is to do nothing.”
“God,” McKay blows out a breath, shaking his head. “I thought you’d lie to me, give me some platitude I could shout down with statistics, but…”
“I’m not much for platitudes,” John says, honestly. “And you’re not stupid.”
McKay’s mouth quirks just a bit at that, and he gives John a careful, curious look. “No, I’m not, and I’m beginning to suspect that you’re not, either.”
John smiles, puts in the effort of biting back a smart-ass retort.
McKay stands, palms on his thighs. “Alright, fine. I’ll stay on your team.” He blinks several times, looking at John’s face, then his neck. His crooked mouth tilts down at one corner. “Better I’m out there than back here, if…if something happens.”
“Good,” John says, meaning it. “You, me, Ford, Teyla—I like our odds.”
“I was never much of a gambler,” McKay mumbles, as though he’s talking to himself. Then he looks up, eyes bright, sarcastic smile twisting his lips. “Guess it’s new galaxy, new me.”
“That’s my plan,” John says, because he’s trying, really, not to be such a fuckup this go around. McKay gives him a little half-wave, then spins on his heel and beats it out of John’s office. John waits a count of ten, then lets himself grin, relieved, and deletes the still-blank list he’d been making of possible scientists to join his team.

s2 time! i'm not gonna be as thorough with it as i was w s1 bc i'm not a huge fan of season 2 ff but here goes
(this post's gonna be tosh/owen + some fragments talk, then i'm gonna reblog with a day in the death stuff, and then ill make a separate post for adam bc. woo nelly. that one warrants it.)
so lets start with the tosh/owen differences. a lot of their little scenes in s2 are markedly different - mostly as far as body language. there's a surprising amount of physical affection between them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
four separate occasions (eps 3, 4, 8, and 9) where there's physical affection between them in the script that didn't make it into the episode. i find this intriguing. tosh and owen are both very... non-affectionate people. both of them could be, with someone they loved romantically, but they don't strike me as the type of people who like to cuddle with their friends. they're both naturally very aloof and non-touchy, which makes that casual physical touch very ooc. i imagine that's why it didn't end up on screen. i figure the writers here knew the show was meant to push the tosh/owen angle in s2, but it's interesting to me that it ended up being a lot more subtle and... awkward in the show itself. i've already said i'm not a towen fan, for many reasons, but one is that there's just... zero chemistry between them (in s2, anyway). every interaction is forced and uncomfortable. it's weird enough that i was thrown off by it for a long time and couldn't figure out what the show was trying to do with them, lmao. i know that their awkwardness probably appeals to some people, and is cute or smth, but i dislike it personally. mostly i'm just petty the show reduced tosh down to that relationship tbh but whatever.
i can't help but wonder if they had this casual physical affection with each other, and if it fit in and didn't feel ooc for them, if i would like them as a couple more. but honestly i have thought about what the show could've done to make tosh/owen endear me, and i don't think uncharacteristic physical affection would be it. i do like that first scene, the way their communication styles clash a bit and they don't know quite how to talk to each other. i like owen awkwardly trying to comfort her, i love when he does that, how it's like a baby deer walking for the first time fhsdjfkds. im very endeared by the way owen's empathy is either out of nowhere and all-consuming, or something he has to force and is awkward about wielding. whenever he tries to be kind it's very tentative, because it doesn't come natural to him (anymore, at least), but he does care enough to try. i'm so fond of it. also hes sooo nd ehehe. tosh too.
will say this: i do appreciate owen getting hugs. he does need it. tosh needs it too. if the team WAS physically affectionate with each other they'd be better off, i think.
two more tosh/owen things...
Tumblr media
see, this is what i mean when i say i couldn't tell what the show was doing with them. the SHOW can't even tell. this whole scene is written very vaguely, with little insight into owen's head, like the damn writer doesn't even know why he finally agreed. this is probably my, like, fourth favorite tosh/owen scene, which isn't saying much, 'cause i still don't really like it. it's cute in like, three spots, but mostly it just feels... weird. i don't understand what burn was intending with his acting choices, because owen comes across as insincere and slightly snide. it's weird and gross, and it rubs me wrong. i don't know if he's trying to be casual and play it cool or something, but the way he laughs at her makes me wanna punch him. the way owen treats tosh is just about the only place i legitimately can't stand him.
Tumblr media
one last bit about it. see, 'fondly'. in the actual scene, i would describe the way owen looks at her in this moment as.... amused (at her expense) and slightly condescending. like he thinks she's laughable. it fucking bothers me. which sucks because i wanna like them, i do. i think they could be compatible. but the way he treats her in canon is nauseating and i can't get behind it.
right, and then two fragments moments i wanna discuss
Tumblr media Tumblr media
all i really wanna say here is again (as mentioned in my end of days talk), chibnall didn't specify owen crying or anything, but he spends his whole segment of this ep in tears. point is i wanna thank burn gorman for the way owen constantly is teary eyed and miserable, with those big pretty brown doe eyes of his. it means the world to me. thats all
actually it's not all cuz i also wanna point out jack grabbing owen to stop him instead of owen collapsing into tears and sobbing into jacks chest while jack holds him. the dead man walking script similarly didn't specify the physical touch between jack and owen in the three places it appears, so i imagine that was largely something decided by the actors... i'm very compelled by the three separate instances where we see owen attack jack one minute / at one point in the ep and then sob in his arms the next. their relationship is sooo unhealthy fff

Ok i've gotta succumb to my SaSi SvS brainrot real quick
I really just need to ramble on indefinitely about deceit's introduction in selflessness versus selfishness here just so badly
I'm going to be talking about 02:25-05:57 in SvS by the way. There's...so much to unpack in this episode. But I just really love this introduction here. First off, I know everyone has pointed out Deceit's awkward rise-up here:
Tumblr media
But no one has mentioned yet about the Not-Logan's very Deceit-looking expression here, with the purse lips/darting eyes/still head (which is really just wonderful instinctive acting on Thomas's part):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(maybe not the best comparison but I think any deceit fan will get my point)
Also, it's interesting to see when and where Virgil appeared in the video – right after Deceit revealed himself. Now, it's been clear throughout the series that Sides can't really hear what's going on in Thomas's apartment when they're in the Mind Palace (e.g., Logan had no idea Deceit was impersonating him). If he couldn't hear or sense Deceit, how did Virgil know to appear then? Well, probably because with Deceit's appearance, Thomas started getting nervous – his anxiety spiked. This probably caught Virgil's attention. Hence, the guy popped in looking about ready to slap a bitch.
Tumblr media
Also, I think it's just lovely how consistent Deceit's intentions are here. When he first rose up as Logan, he'd said, "If Thomas would rather go to the wedding...we should hear it straight from the house's mouth. Thomas, the floor is yours. Wedding or callback?" Then, again revealed as Deceit, he asks, "Do you want the part or not?" Essentially, I think Deceit knows that Thomas wants to go the callback instead of the wedding. For the evidence to be sound, though, he'd need Thomas to admit that himself. However, Thomas isn't the one who answers Deceit's here.
Tumblr media
Roman answers for him. Actually, there are several times throughout this whole introduction where Thomas could speak for himself, but doesn't because a Side gets to it first.
[Deceit]: Do you want the part or not? [Roman]: Of course [Thomas] does!
Originally, I hadn't caught on to the purpose of Roman's usurpation here; I had assumed Deceit was trying to get Thomas to go to the callback, so Roman stepping in helped prove Deceit's point, right? But, no, that's not the case at all – Deceit, frankly, doesn't care about what Roman wants right now. He's trying to figure out what Thomas wants. If Thomas had declared at the end he really wanted to go to the wedding, and Deceit hadn't sensed any lies, he likely would have let Thomas do so. But Thomas doesn't want to go to the wedding. A fun solution to this is the one Deceit picked: by putting them all in a courtroom meeting, he can single them out one by one, to hear what everyone wants independent from each other (including Thomas).
This all is a little interesting, since what Thomas wants to going to be literally deeply influenced by what the others Sides want since they are physically a part of him. However, it also seems to be that Thomas has some individuality from the other Sides, so maybe Deceit is actually on to something here.
I also want to mention this perhaps interesting part later:
[Virgil]: Okay, Thomas, even if he can tell the truth, that doesn't mean he can be trusted. [Thomas]: Mm, you're right. [Deceit]: Virgil's very right. You can't trust me! It's not like I'm trying to look out for you or anything. [Virgil]: Yeah, when I think of trustworthiness, I immediately think of someone who consistently disguises themselves like a member of Team Rocket.
Deceit is really leaning into Thomas's propensity to overthink things with "You can't trust me!" It's the same kind of prompt to cause constant double-guess and back-and-forth assumptions as "This sentence is a lie." This is called a Liar's Paradox. As an author, my inclination would be to have the other characters fall for it, argue amongst themselves for a bit, then figure out what happened and rise above it (therefore learning about how to avoid being manipulated like that). This could help enforce or denounce Deceit's trustworthiness, and also cause arguments amongst fans.
Tumblr media
So that's what happens? Nope! Deceit's paradox falls flat and gets him nowhere. It goes straight over Virgil's head too (he immediately speaks up to Deceit's falsehood after the paradox line: "Yeah, when I think of trustworthiness..."). Either that, or Virgil could be familiar with Deceit's liar paradoxes, ignores them entirely, and continues to believe Deceit always lies. Or something else. But I think this is a really interesting moment, because Virgil seems like the kind of character who could definitely overthink the Liar's Paradox – or any paradox, for that matter (Logan and Patton might as well, too). But he doesn't. Former dark side moment, used to Deceit's shenanigans, perhaps?
I think it's also interesting that the Sides each have very different opinions about Deceit's appearance here.
Patton states that he believes "Lying to [Thomas's] friends is out of the question" – I think he also believes Deceit's a liar, and therefore, his intents and opinions are likely wrong. Additionally, Patton says that he feels Thomas needs to uphold his "commitment to Lee and Mary Lee's commitment." It could be possible he thinks Deceit is trying to get Thomas to go to the callback (instead of trying to hear what Thomas has to say), and is adverse to Deceit because of that as well. Patton is against Deceit because Deceit appears to be against going to the wedding.
Virgil just straight up hates the guy. Deceit's a liar, trying to get Thomas to lie, and is (he thinks) inherently untrustworthy because of that. I think that whatever Deceit's opinion is or is coming off as doesn't matter to Virgil much at all – the emo's just upset Deceit's popped up in the first place. He seems neutral about the wedding versus callback argument.
I think Roman finds Deceit untrustworthy too, but kind of looks past that because he thinks Deceit is on his side of the argument (which he seems to be). So, Roman is a lot calmer about Deceit's appearance here, despite still not explicitly appreciating Deceit's support.
Tumblr media
Anyway that's me rambling on about Selfishness vs. Selflessness for not really any discernibly good reason. Feel free to reblog with more observations of this part before the courtroom. Ciao!

For the fic Prompts, how about Team Rancher bonding/spending time with their warden son like a happy family while also scaring anyone who tries to do anything at the ranch
Yes absolutely. Shenanigans under the cut! (Which I just figured out how to do)
"Ok let's try this again. I throw this, you chase it, pick it up, and bring it back. Ok?" Tango spoke carefully, as if he was explaining something to a toddler.
In reality it was a nine foot murder beast from the deepest depths of the server, the whole world even. It sniffed the stick in Tango's hand, held high above his head. The creature was blind, but able to smell even the faintest scent and hear the softest sounds. It was also incredibly fast. It wobbled and jerked unsettlingly as it dashed but it was fast.
"Ready?" Tango asked, watching the antlers of the warden glow in a way that made them appear to shake. "Fetch!" Tango threw the stick. It landed a couple blocks away with a very soft noise.
The Warden turned and sniffed, charging for the stick and picking it up. Tango felt hope rise in his chest as their son picked the stick up and turned around, only to shove it in its mouth and eat it.
Tango groaned. "No! You're not supposed to eat it!" Tango yelled exasperated. The Warden sniffed around, wandering mindlessly around the ranch. Tango huffed and sat in the grass. Jimmy chuckled from the roof of the ranch where he was working.
"How's training going?" Jimmy asked, walking over to his first pillar and digging down to the ground.
"It keeps eating the sticks." Tango mumbled, watching their son stand in the wheat field, giant paws running through the golden waves as gently as possible.
"Have you tried something other than sticks?" Jimmy asks, sitting next to and cuddling up to Tango.
"Like what? I mean, I could probably make a ball out of the spare leather we have. It'd only take what, three maybe four?" Tango thinks.
"That could work. Maybe also rocks?" Jimmy suggests. Tango shrugs.
"We'll try both." Tango looks for the sun, finding it nearly touching the horizon. The sky is painted sombre shades of blue and pink, it has yet to be set aflame with oranges and yellows.
"Where do we put it?" Tango asks. "Does it sleep?" He can feel Jimmy shrug against him.
"We could build a quick pen." Jimmy says. Tango hums in thought then nods.
"Yeah, let's do that. I'm scared of leaving it out here by itself." Tango stands up and offers a hand down to help Jimmy.
Jimmy takes the hand and stands up. "What like someone's going to steal our son? Yeah right, everyone's terrified of it." Jimmy laughs. He walks inside the house with Tango to gather supplies.
"They're insane." Grian states as he puts his spyglass away. Scar hums next to him, sleepily petting the Jellie in his lap.
Grian's wings fluff up anxiously. He can feel judgemental eyes on him, silently telling him to do something about the beast.
"Something has to be done about it. They can't keep that thing all season, it isn't fair." Grian reasons aloud. Scar is asleep in his chair by now, unable to talk sense into his soulmate.
Grian slips out of the keep and makes the journey to the ranch while it's still daylight. He can hear Timmy and Tango talking when he sneaks past the ranch house.
Lucky for Grian The Warden is near the ranch walls. He breaks the cobblestone, watching terrified as the antlers glow with the sound. It sniffs the air, growling at the unfamiliar scent.
Grian swallows and draws his bow back. It was a lousy shot, barely any power behind it, but it lands right in the monster's leg.
The Warden roars with pain, unsteadily charging for Grian. The avian turns to run, his vision darkening and he can hear his heartbeat in his ears. There's two heartbeats actually.
Grian comes to the edge of the cliff, looking behind him to see the beast rapidly approaching. He has a vague plan of what to do now but unsure if it'll actually work.
He braces himself.
"Grian!" Someone shouts his name. He looks over, Jimmy is running full speed after the monster, Tango just behind him.
The Warden's antlers glow, then its chest. Faces of the damned appear to be wailing in agony inside its exposed ribcage. Grian can hear their shrieks.
Grian is stuck in place, watching the monster in horror, unable to move.
It happens so fast Grian doesn't get to finish blinking.
A sound wave fires from The Warden's chest, carrying the full force of the roar from the beast and the shrieks of however many souls are contained within it. It shoves Grian back, sending him a few blocks down the cliff face.
He screams in pure agony as he slides down the cliff. He covers his ears and wails and sobs once he's perched on a ledge. His ears are ringing, he can't hear anything besides the ringing. A thick warmth drips past his fingers as they hold his ears. He cries harder.
Tango jumps on the back of his son, random flurries of words flying from his mouth. His hands gripped the pitch black fur for stability. He climbed to the monster's shoulder, petting the areas he'd pulled apologetically.
Jimmy peered over the cliff, finding Grian sobbing hysterically with his hands over his ears. Blood was starting to dry between each finger and at his wrists where it dripped down.
"Grian!" Jimmy called, reaching down to help Grian up. The other avian looked up and shakily raised a hand up. Fear was in his coal black eyes as Jimmy pulled him up the cliff ledge.
"What were you thinking!" Jimmy scolded. Tango shushed The Warden, who calmed down now that there were familiar voices and scents.
Jimmy sighed, pulling steak from his inventory and handing it to Grian. "Here, eat. Are you ok?" Jimmy asked. Grian sniffled as he ate the steak slowly, ashamed.
"Is it ok, Tangs?" Jimmy asked up at his soulmate, earning a nod from the Netherborne. Jimmy sighed in relief.
"Go home, Grian." Tango said, petting behind his son's antlers. Grian swallowed the steak and trudged off, probably to get an earful from Scar.
Tango hopped down, still keeping a hand on his son.
"That was crazy."
"Yeah and we saw everything."
Jimmy and Tango turned around, finding Etho and Joel standing by the bridge that connected the two mountains.
"Imagine dying to this thing." Joel barked a laugh and clapped The Warden on the back. It growled loudly and Joel jumped back, hiding behind Etho.
"Ok! Everyone go home! It's getting dark and we need a pen for our son. Goodnight." Jimmy announced and stomped away. Tango followed behind, pulling The Warden along by a very large claw. Joel and Etho scittered back across the bridge to the safety of their boat.
Jimmy and Tango made quick (and sloppy) work of making a small pen with a roof for the beast, who seemed content to watch the Red Velvet Keep.
Tango pulled Jimmy in the house and under the covers of their shared bed. He went through his nightly routine of preening Jimmy's small canary wings. After today they could really use them.
"It'll be fine, honey." Tango mumbled, pressing a kiss between Jimmy's wings as he carded through feathers.
"I know." Jimmy yawned. He flipped around and kissed Tango's forehead. "Goodnight." He whispered and cuddled up to Tango.
Tango chuckled. "Goodnight."
