Quick break from the bad batch brainrot, but:

One of the hilarious side effects of the various attempts to give Scrooge McDuck a backstory in various comics is that the name gets even more ridiculous. He’s called “Scrooge McDuck” because Carl Barks needed an Ebenezer Scrooge stand-in for a Christmas issue of the Donald Duck comics. He needed a ducky antagonist, so he slapped that name on him and made him Donald Duck’s jerk-ass uncle who hates everyone.

Eeexcccceeeept that the comic readers liked the character, and Barks did too, so he kept coming back, got a more solid characterization after a few different iterations, and then eventually got his own comic series. Which ran for decades. They’re all almost one off episode stories, but Barks, Scarpa, and others kept inventing other characters (parents, siblings, various Duck relatives) connected to Scrooge and Donald as needed, later comic writers/artists on both sides of the Atlantic made attempts to tie it all together into different backstories, and so.

What you end up with.

Is this whole extended Duck-McDuck-Coot family full of people who either have perfectly normal-if-old-fashioned people names (Fergus, Matilda, Hortense, Molly, Elvira, Donald, Gladstone, Casey, etc) or bird pun names (Fethry, Downy, Eider, Roast, etc) aaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnd Scrooge.

Which isn’t a real name. It’s something Charles Dickens just made up and that Barks ran with. Because he named Scrooge according to his one-off antagonist naming conventions and then unexpectedly went and made him a main character. And, yes, the most sensible option here is to just ignore how silly it is in context, because it’s a collection of Disney comics about ducks.

The funnier option, though? The funnier option is to actually think about Fergus and Downy McDuck living in mid-century Scotland a couple decades after the publication of the only book in which the name “Scrooge” appears, having their first kid, and then deciding to name their kid that. Like it wasn’t tempting fate or asking for trouble. I’m too amused by this.

More media leaks and believe it or not the original plans for Ducktales 2017. Yes, the original plan was for Ducktales to be based more on the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics, with Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck as the main characters. Especially the last poster by Joe Pitt, who was also one of the animators for Gravity Falls, Wander Over Yonder and Mickey Mouse Cartoons. These are designs from other animators, but there are more links to the OG Ducktales and the comics than to Ducktales 2017. Yes, Disney later rejected the ideas from Joe Pitt and then gave them to other people.

What do you think about all this? These are the original designs for Donald, Scrooge, Huey, Dewey and Louie, Webby, Miss Quackfaster, Gyro and Gizmoduck.

Still as a fan of the Donald Duck comics, I regret that they didn't adopt the original ideas for the Ducktales reboot to be more close to the comic book material, but again this is just my opinion.

Darkwing Duck (Drake Mallard) and his daughter (Gosalyn Mallard)

Although it's not Father's Day at the moment, it certainly drew on one of the best parents, ie the fathers in Duckverse, and it's Darkwing Duck, the best Duck superhero after Donald and Daffy Duck. I forgot which episode it was that inspired me to draw a redraw of that scene, but what I liked about the Darkwing Duck series is the relationship between Drake Mallard and his adopted daughter named Gosalyn. While I wish Drake had adopted Gosalyn since her birth, I am certainly glad that Gosalyn, after the tragic events with her family, still found another refuge and her new family. The dynamic between father Drake and daughter Gosalyn is really comical and fun, but also emotional. There were certainly rescues that Drake Mallard had saved Gosalyn several times, and there were moments when Gosalyn rescued her father. What Donald Duck is the best parent for his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, so Darkwing Duck (actually Drake Mallard) is the best parent for Gosalyn Mallard. I wish it was the same in the Darkwing Duck reboot. Yes, the first time I drew preteen Gosalyn, when she was an 8-year-old girl. Yes, Drake hugs his daughter, just as his daughter hugs him. Yes, I drew this in my own style. I hope you like this drawing and that you like this dynamic relationship between father and daughter.

Miraculous: mischaracterisation of Kagami as a bad person who just want to ruin the love square. But at the same time they love luka because he's just a sweet little baby boy 🥺👉👈

The owl house: Hunter and Ed interacted once and people started shipping them while they complain about Hunter and Willow for having a 1 year age gap. Also people acting like everyone is siblings

Amphibia: they care about the main trio too much to care about any other character at all

Gravity falls: where do i even start

Steven universe: The Su!c!de incident (dont worry she survived)

The ghost and molly mcgee: they hate Ollie for no reason even after his redemption arc for getting in the way of Molly x Libby or Andrea. They say he and molly look like siblings but their eye colors, skin colors and hair colors are different. (Tbh they cant take it when both characters in a pairing are Asian).

Dwampyverse: Too many NSFW art of children

Ducktales: I like them. Nothing bad about them other than they just ignore canon sometimes but hey, so do I.

Hilda: same as the Dwampyverse

Tangled: pretty chill but please dont ship Varian who's 16 with Cass who's 25.

Infinity train: Saying Lake, Ryan and Min aren't queer coded. Like are you blind? Its fine if you don't ship Rymin or use She/her for Lake but remember cartoon network Stopped the creator from putting those in.

Lego monkie kid: pretty ok fandom. Nothing bad to say about them.

She ra: im pretty late to this fandom so I haven't seen anything bad but as a DT megafan the fandom doesn't give them enough attention to them lol

Dead end: too small

Kipo: WAY too small

Live action movies:

Heathers: (see Musicals)

Dead poets society: ITS DYING WE NEED MORE FANWORKS

Games:

Undertale: the needle cookie incident (they're ok now don't worry. Dont take food from strangers kids)

Stardew Valley: Toxic arguing over the Bachelors and Bachelorettes. Acting like Haley and Alex are some irredeemable monsters. like, have you tried befriending them?

Musicals:

Heathers: Acting like Heather McNamara is some sweet little angel. Like no. She is sad and deserves better but that doesn't mean shes nice. (In other words: she is damaged, far to damaged, but that does not make her wise)

Hamilton: the HIV incident (just search Hamilton HIV to know the context). Also harassing anyone who isn't the OG cast.

Ride the cyclone: Acting like the characters are so pure and innocent. Like, im against NSFW of the kids too, but the whole point of Ricky is that hes not so sweet and innocent as a disabled person. Or the whole point of Noel is that he wants to be "fucked up". The tiktok fandom is also super biased to the original cast (meanwhile tumblr loves it)

Six: Saying Jane isn't a powerful woman because she wants to get married and have kids

What are the origins behind Witch Hazel from 1952's Trick or Treat, and is she canon to the larger Disneyverse?

According to some of the Italian Disney Comics, hwr backstory is that she was born a witch in a place called "the Witch Country", and was sent out into the world to get people to believe in magic again.

Since she is a human in a world largly populated by anthropomorphic animals, I'll sat that the Witch Country is probably located in the Everrealm, and she's crossed over into the Ducktales reality.

Here's what she looks like for anyone who hasn't seen her before!

She's in a pretty cute Donald Duck cartoon where she helps the triplets get candy from a stingy Donald on Halloween :)

TIL that there is an episode of the DuckTales reboot in which they rebooted Darkwing Duck, that's a parody of the Nolan Batman films. The original actor got recast and he became a villain. It's produced by a studio owned by Scrooge (you can probably guess the budget 😂) He put Dewey in charge of quality control 😂 And on top of that, the director was voiced by Edgar Wright. God I love this cartoon 😂

Propaganda for Huey Duck/Wakko Warner:

Huey and Wakko are classic opposite attrack characters, while also touches of "you're drawn to people who remind you of your family" thrown in. They're both very autistic coded characters (because their shows are cowards and refuse to say the word) but in opposite ways. Wakko is very outside of the norm where as Huey holds himself to a strict set of rules. While Huey adds a bit of routine to Wakko's life, Wakko encourages Huey to cut back, go outside of his comfort zone at his own pace and also relax a little. Wakko reminds Huey of both his siblings, excitable and dramatic like Dewey, and laid back (compared to his siblings) and mischevious like Louie, where as Huey reminds Wakko of his own siblings. A bit more uptight and bratty like Dot, and intelligent and encouraging like Yakko. They also bring out different sides of each other, Wakko can be gross and messy and Huey somehow finds it charming, and Huey can help Wakko see that he's intelligent and creative in his own ways rather than being outshined by his own siblings. They both also have anger issues, and Wakko would be great at helping Huey to feel his anger rather than always keeping it hidden away. He makes Huey feel seen and heard and taken care of because Huey doesn't have to be the Older BrotherTM around Wakko. Basically just opposites attract autistic kids who help each other come into one another.
