Aaliyah's "Try Again" single hits the airways becoming #1 on the Billboard Top 100 charts!

I normally always double check my dates before I post them and I noticed Wikipedia now says this was released March 21, 2000? Not sure who keeps changing dates. Glad I print screened my sources. Even Apple Music and YouKNowIGotSoul still say it was released February 22. *shrugs*

Also, let's entertain the fact the song came out March 21 instead.... Why would the soundtrack come out on the 14th? Before any single is released? Who does that? Usually, there is a single to ramp up the excitement of the album/soundtrack.

Anyhoo... What's your favorite thing about this music video?

I always thought it was cool that she had JET LI in it. This was like.. his first ever music video debut.. right? She could have done that video ANY way and told a different story in the video of a guy liking a girl and being nervous to ask her out ... but she went this route. They looked like they had so much fun in that video. I loved it!

Maroon 5 desembarca en el Campo Argentino de Polo: just like animals

El jueves 12 de marzo del 2020, Maroon 5 regresará a la Argentina para dar un show en el Campo Argentino de Polo. Impulsados por el éxito de su nuevo sencillo “Memories”, los californianos volverán a poner a prueba su identidad camaleónica y su capacidad para reinterpretar el pop de forma constante. Nadie en su sano juicio le puede pedir a Maroon 5 que entregue un show, un disco o un single plagado de distorsión y agresividad. Pero, más allá de esto, lo cierto es que Adam Levine y sus secuaces saben como mutar de piel constantemente para nunca quedarse estancados en el clásico sonido pop/rock radial con el que muchos los han catalogado -en pos de atacarlos y quitarles mérito artístico- a lo largo de sus casi 20 años de extensa carrera.

Con una historia de origen bastante más underground de lo que muchos imaginan -los tres discos editados bajo el nombre Kara’s Flower hablan por sí solos-, el conjunto oriundo de Los Ángeles, California, ha construido una carrera a base de hits imposibles de sacar de la cabeza y de presentaciones en vivo cargadas de un componente escénico muy poderoso y por demás interesante. Partiendo de la combinación entre pop/rock, soul clásico y funk rock presente en ‘Songs About Jane’ (2002), la banda supo evolucionar hacia la música disco, el pop más tradicional (y todas sus variables electrónicas), el famoso electro y el rock de guitarras tanto en su faceta más suave y melódica como en la más desfachatada y rítmica.

Tardó muy poco Maroon 5 en convertirse en una sensación global, hablando de ello por sí solas las colaboraciones de Lady Antebellum, Wiz Khalifa, SZA, A$ap Rocky, Julia Michaels, LunchMoney Lewis y muchos más en sus seis discos de estudio. Luego de conseguir el número uno global hace poco menos de un año de la mano de “Girls Like You” -además del récord histórico en cuanto a escalada en el Billboard Hot 100-, la salida de “Memories” mantiene la vara por completo elevada de cara a su gira mundial del próximo año.

A pura nostalgia, Levine le canta a aquellos que hemos perdido en el camino y hace gala de una estética minimalista pocas veces vista en los videos de Maroon 5. Alcanza y sobra con un primer plano, su voz cuasi a capella y una base guitarrera muy cálida y melancólica al mismo tiempo. Resta esperar a todo lo que vendrá en los próximos meses, pero la fecha para el show de Maroon 5 en nuestro país ya puede ser considerada como una de las más importantes del año entrante.
