Author: Maxine Pairings: BakuDeku Rating: R Chapters: 14/? Notes: Accidental quirk shenanigans result in an unplanned pregnancy. Post-canon, no a/b/o dynamics. Summary: It's not that Katsuki didn't want kids. He figured he'd have them one day, probably. That he and Izuku would adopt or maybe figure something else out. This is NOT how it was supposed to go. ~~~~~ CHAPTER 14 “OI!” Katsuki barks at the rest of the room, even though most of its occupants are already staring at him with arched eyebrows. He swallows as everyone else turns their attention toward him, trying not to fidget in place or do anything that would make him fall. He’s not exactly at his usual level of coordination these days. “Real quick. Uh. I know I was kind of a last-minute addition to the staff roster and maybe some of you are wondering what the hell I’m doing here.” “Recovering from a thing!” Present Mic shouts, and then gives him a double thumbs up when Katsuki scowls. At his side, Vlad King starts snickering. “No – goddammit.” Katsuki huffs. “Look, I’ve been off field work for a few weeks and was getting sick of hanging around my agency not doing shit.” He tips his head in Tsuyu’s direction. “Froppy here was nice enough to suggest letting me double up with her and somehow we got Principal Nezu onboard. Probably just taking pity on me, but whatever. I’m gonna be even more of a pain for you people to deal with than I was in school because…” Katsuki cuts both hands in toward his stomach, more or less framing the bulging curve there. “I’m pregnant. Got hit with a Quirk. Shit happened. It’s Deku’s.” He puffs out a breath and jerks forward into a slight bow. “Thanks in advance for putting up with me, I guess.” “Young Bakugou, please get down,” All Might hisses out in an overly frantic tone, and this time Katsuki does as told. He even accepts the hand the older man holds out to assist him. “See, now that explains it,” a gruff voice says. Katsuki looks up to find Hound Dog stroking the bottom of his muzzle in a thoughtful sort of way. Most of the rest of the room seems completely unphased – likely a byproduct of having years under their belts as both pro heroes and teachers who’ve mentored hundreds of students with all manner of Quirks. They’ve all seen some shit, Katsuki realizes, and the bit of tension that had locked up his shoulders abruptly drains away. This probably isn’t even close to the weirdest thing any of them have dealt with. “Explains what?” Katsuki asks, somewhat warily. Hound Dog shrugs. “Your smell.” “…What?” “You smell pregnant. It was throwing me off.” “WHAT?!” “Maaaan, you’ve gotta share things like that!” Present Mic yells over at Houng Dog. “Spill the tea, share the juice, give me the gossip! How many times do I gotta tell you?!” “Way too early,” Aizawa grumbles again. He pulls open a drawer of a nearby desk and whips out a yellow sleeping bag that’s seen far better days. “Somebody wake me up when the opening ceremony starts.” “Shouta, did you know?” Present Mic demands, spinning toward him before Aizawa can fully disappear beneath the desk. “Shouta! HEY. Did you know??” “Oh man, I’m so glad I signed on this year,” Tokage utters in awe. She looks a little too gleeful, honestly. “This is great.” Tsuyu nods in agreement. “I wonder if it’s always this eventful.” “What the fuck does he mean, I smell pregnant,” Katsuki asks, scandalized. “Is that a fucking thing? Do I stink??” “It’s just his Quirk, Bakugou.” Tsuyu gives him a reassuring pat on the arm. “He probably picked up on the hormonal changes. Don’t worry about it. Want to go over the plans for our first classes?” Alright, well that’s gross and terrible to know. Continue reading at AO3. Through chapter 14 now posted!

A good night’s sleep
Izuku had  had enough. He was 35 weeks pregnant and his entire body hurt, and his husband's snoring was the last straw. He had tried to be nice, he had gently nudged Katsuki and asked him to roll over. He had vigorously shaken him and demanded he roll over, nothing seemed to work. Izuku understood he was a pro hero and a very tired man after work, but his patience had run out. Pregnancy had his body in a state of disarray; his legs were swollen, his hips ached, he had a baby's head resting firmly in his pelvis and his bladder was none too happy. What he needed right now was sleep and there was only one way he could see himself getting any. Izuku rolled himself off the bed, took the corners of the sheet in his hands and announced "Last chance, Kacchan, roll over." Izuku needed to get sleep and he knew it. He was 35 weeks pregnant and had just gotten up to pee for the millionth time and his husband was still snoring away happily in bed.  Don't get him wrong, Izuku wasn't upset that his husband was sleeping, not at all. He was however unhappy that Katsuki was snoring. That god awful sound had been grating on his nerves for weeks and tonight was the final straw. You see, Izuku had been kind, he had gently shaken his husband and asked him to roll over. Unfortunately Katsuki had just made a god awful noise like a leaf blower choking and slept on without a care in the world. From there Izuku may have escalated things and vigorously manhandled his husband and yelled that he needed to roll his sorry ass over or sleep on the couch. To this Katsuki had very little reaction, he did what Izuku called "gobbling air" and then farted in his sleep and left Izuku very angry. It was when Izuku was hovering over his dear husband's face with a pillow that he began to wonder how they had gotten to this point. Was smothering him really the answer to his problems? NO, of course not. He would surely regret that in the morning....or when the body started to smell. It was then that Izuku had a stroke of genius, an idea that would surely bear fruit. He gently rolled his hugely pregnant self off the edge of the bed and grabbed the corners of the sheet firmly.  Once more he tried to encourage his husband to do the right thing, "Kacchan, please roll over, your snoring is keeping me awake."  To which Katsuki grumbled, groaned, and choked on a snore before starting back up again at max volume. Izuku gripped the sheet tighter in his hands before mumbling to himself, "you've left me no choice." Then he used 1% to pull the sheet taught and roll his husband onto the floor with an unceremonious thump. Izuku wasted no time climbing back into bed and laying back down, he had sleep to catch up on after all. Katsuki growled, groaned and sat up on the floor, "what the hell happened?" he moaned, holding his head. "You were snoring and I asked you to roll over, you must have overdone it," Izuku sighed, nuzzling into his pillow, "goodnight Kacchan."

"How the actual fuck did I raise such a stupid brat?"
Even as the side of Katsuki's lip curled, he couldn't necessarily argue with his mother. He wanted to, he really, really did, but in this one case he had to concede that she was maybe, just slightly, kind of right. Partly because she hadn't been the first to say it - their friends, their former teachers, the others at their agency; hell, even Recovery Girl had broken her retirement and self imposed month long temporary isolation in Florida to give him a call and chew him out when she had heard the news. The doctors so far had been nicer about the whole thing, if with an air of judgment about them, reassuring him that, while rare, it could, in fact, happen. There'd been studies, tv shows, social experiments - they weren't the only ones this had happened to, though perhaps they were one of the most famous. That had only made him feel slightly better, because really, the other reason he didn't snap back at his mother was that, thinking about it, all of the signs had, if fact, been there.
It should have been obvious.
But, really, Izuku being sick at 3 am almost every single day for two months had been easy to write off. The damn nerd was constantly getting cheap crap from convenience stores for snacks on his way home from patrols, no matter how much Katsuki tried to protest. So they had both just laughed (or, rather, Katsuki had laughed, Izuku had bemoaned) it off as his stomach finally taking its revenge now that he was in his mid-20s.
The back and chest pain? Well, they were both heroes - things were constantly getting tweaked and twisted and hit, and even when they had desk duty, Izuku never sat properly. He was always hunched over his laptop, muttering under his breath instead of keeping track of his HDMI cables so he could use the nice, comfortable chairs and large monitors the agency had gotten them.
Being tired? The nerd never slept. End of story, he was always tired, and so was Katsuki, depending on whether or not Izuku had kept him awake as well. Sometimes a happy tired, if he'd gotten his dick wet at least, but more often then not a frustrated tired, his lovely, wonderful husband and mate keeping him awake half the night because they just had to talk about the new quirk theory he'd come up with. A talk that couldn't wait until their, you know, shared patrol the next day, or shared lunch hour, or dinner, where they lived together.
Crying easily? Izuku had already been flooding the city on a daily basis because a child knew his name, and if someone insulted one of their friends (especially him), they had exactly three seconds to find somewhere to hide and pray before he tried to rip them a new asshole for shits and giggles. Moodswings had always been part of Izuku, and nothing new to their lives.
Neither of them had thought much about Izuku's missed heat; he'd always been irregular, ever since he'd gotten One for All, going from the standard one every three months to sometimes six months in between a heat, or sometimes only two. Their mating and medications had helped, for the most part, but a missed one was nothing to worry about. For sure nothing to call home or run to a doctor about, but instead just a scheduled off long weekend to take advantage of.
Though, perhaps his reluctance to take apart the elaborate nest he'd established in the living room should have sent up some flags. Katsuki was glad for the small bite scar on his hand now, and the fact that the nest was still there, left alone after Izuku had made it very clear it was staying. They'd need it, even if it was ugly as fuck and in the worst place possible. It smelled like them, sure, but he still hated the fact that they owned an Icy Hot blanket, and for some reason Izuku had put that bastard's merch right where it was most visible wherever you went in the apartment.
Sure, the weird food had been weird, but none of it had been too too strange. Katsuki had gagged the first time he'd seen Izuku eat pork rinds and m&ms ("It's just like chocolate covered bacon, Kacchan!"), and more than once Katsuki had wondered why and how he'd let himself get bullied out of his own house to try and find melon pudding in the middle of the night, but again, not too weird. Or, rather, neither of them had really just thought about it.
Damn it, Denki was rubbing off on him too much. He really was a dumbass.
To be fair, in their defense, there had been some pretty obvious things that hadn't been there as well. Izuku's scent had barely changed, the slightest extra sweetness of milk barely there under the lighting and mint. He'd barely put on any extra weight, his increased appetite quickly burned off by the amount of exercise they did each day. They were both already horny fucks, so any increase in that area hadn’t been that noticeable.
It hadn't been until earlier that day that they'd begun to suspect something was maybe, just maybe, wrong. Izuku had woken up complaining of a weird pressure in his lower stomach, strange cramps that he couldn't just walk off. Katsuki had suggested he take the day off, go to the doctor, but Izuku had been insistent on doing his shift first. They had a short, early day, so they could always swing by whichever hospital was closest to them when they clocked out.
"I'm fine, Kacchan," Izuku had said, his smile tight even as he rubbed at his lower back, hissing as another cramp hit him. "It's probably just some stomach thing from all the weird things I've been eating."
He'd wanted to push, but deciding it was better to not argue and just keep a close eye on him, Katsuki had just nodded and gotten ready for the day.
He should have pushed. Throughout the day it was clear how much the cramps had been bothering Izuku, citizens giving him strange, almost panicked looks each time he stopped and pressed his hand to his stomach or his back, biting back whatever noise of pain threatened to break free. Some had even given Katsuki angry, disapproving looks, though when he had just shrugged and rubbed Izuku's back until he insisted he was fine enough for them to continue, that seemed enough for people to drop it. At least until the alerts went off for the robbery.
He wasn't even sure now what the name of the place was, whether it was a bank or some kind of store, just that one of the villains had some kind of x-ray quirk to let them figure out where the best goods to take were, while the other could pull apart the metal and bricks to fill their bags. He and Deku had been the first on the scene, making enough of an entrance that, without turning off the weird eye thing the woman had been doing, both villains had turned towards them, more than ready to fight.
Only for Creepy Eyes to take one look at Izuku and throw her hands up, hitting her partner on the way so she would do the same.
“What the actual fuck is wrong with you? You need to be in a hospital, not running around being a hero for one fucking day. We’re thieves, we’re not getting involved in this shit and possibly hurting one of you.” Her voice had been panicked, each blink causing her eyes to flicker between black and green as she lowered herself to the ground. “And you,” the snarl had taken Katsuki off guard, he’d admit - plenty of villains had growled at him before, but never with this kind of tone - “what kind of alpha are you? I know he’s the number one hero and all the shit, but really? You really care that little about him that you didn’t take him to the hospital already? Fucking shitty mate is what you are.”
Katsuki had bristled at the accusation, words he technically understood but that all together meant shit. Not that he had had time to do anything: his face dark, Izuku had taken a few steps forward, power crackling through his limbs, mouth open to speak-
Only to freeze as another one of those cramps rippled through him, this time accompanied by wetness that had stained the back of his pants, soaking through and dripping down his legs onto the dusty floor.
The next few hours had been blurry, Katsuki had to admit. Bird Brain flying in on his wave of darkness to take over for them while they waited for the ambulance; the ride as the EMTs helped Izuku out of his hero costume, asking him questions Katsuki fired off the answers to, because he knew Izuku more than well enough to respond even as his husband gritted his teeth against the strange pain, scent sharp and stressed and scared; the hospital trying to pull him to the side so he could fill out forms (he might or might not have tried to bite someone) until someone with brains had told them to do it later, this was happening now.
The room, the doctors, too many voices and not enough answers as he tried to keep Izuku calm. Calm and breathing and following the few instructions one of the smiling nurses had come by his head to give him (smiling, so that had to mean he wasn’t dying, something Katsuki had latched onto), ignoring his own pained hand as Izuku squeezed it between the waves. Waves that part of Katsuki had realized were more than some stomach bug, but he’d been proven an idiot, a complete dumbass, because it hadn’t been until the end, when Izuku had been screaming and crying and accidentally kicked someone in the face that it had gone quiet, that it had ended and whatever had been going on was over, that a small, whimpering newborn had been placed on Izuku’s chest that he’d actually realized what it all meant.
“Fucking hell,” he’d breathed, eyes wide and slightly faint as he’d watched Izuku carefully push back the dark hair on their head. Watched as, exhausted and out of it, Izuku had nuzzled the infant before trying to find a nurse, frowning as his tired gaze had fallen on Katsuki himself.
“They gave me a baby, Kacchan,” Izuku had slurred, eyes drooping, barely awake. “We’re heroes - we need to find her parents.”
“Give her here, nerd,” Katsuki had said, though it had taken a long few moments and some gentle swipes of his wrists over Izuku’s to get him to actually let go of her. “Go to sleep; I got her.”
And that was still how he was now, two hours after his daughter’s birth. He’d called his mom, given her the bare jist of it - she’d grabbed Inko on her way over, his dad out of the country for some business meeting, his green-haired mother-in-law quietly fawning over her still sleeping son. The doctor had given him something, after hearing the whole story, to help with healing and keep him calm when he woke up, though he’d sleep for a bit longer. Mitsuki sat next to him, looking between her phone and granddaughter, eyes bright even as she berated him and fielded calls. Stupid villain had leaked everything to the media the first chance she’d gotten, and Katsuki was glad he had someone to deal with the fallout of their stupidity for them.
He sure as fuck couldn’t. Besides calling the old hag, he’d barely been able to take his eyes off of her. She was so small, could fit in his arms so easily, his daughter. Perfectly healthy, if a bit small and a little bit early, nothing to be concerned about, according to the doctor that had almost had to pry her from his hands to give her her first checkover. A miracle, in Katsuki’s mind, considering there’d been nothing that he knew they should have been doing; none of the vitamins, none of the classes, none of the special exercises or appointments or anything that those shitty lifetime movies always made such a big deal out of.
They were dumbasses, as his mother so loved to remind him every few minutes as she replied to calls and texts and coordinated with PR, but even so they’d made the best kid.
“Kacchan?”
Immediately he was at Izuku’s side; he knew he was purring, brushing his cheek over and over against Izuku’s as he held their baby in his arms, scenting him excessively as Izuku just looked at him in tired confusion, but Katsuki couldn’t bring himself to stop. He’d had two whole extra hours to process this shit, and fuck, sure, brats had always been a “When we get to them” kind of thing, but she was here and perfect and he was happy.
“So it wasn’t a dream.” His voice tired and awed, Izuku just reached out for the baby, their baby, and brushed his wrist over her, scenting her, smiling as she squirmed at the sensation. “Kacchan, we have a baby. We didn’t even know I was pregnant and now we have a daughter.” He was tearing up, taking the offered tissues from Inko as Katsuki just sat there and let him process, nuzzling him while holding their child tight between them. “What are we going to tell everyone?”
“Don’t worry about that, ‘Zuku,” Katsuki quickly said, shooting Mitsuki a look they both understood. He didn’t need to know about the media circus show, about how Momo had created a key to their apartment and their friends were already swarming their home with baby shit, that the world was talking and speculating and wondering about how they’d gotten into this predicament in the first place (since a hero almost giving birth on the field was a new one). “Right now you need to rest, and we need to figure out what we’re calling this cute little brat.”
“Don’t call your kid a brat, you stupid brat. How I raised such a dumbass, I’ll never know.”
Katsuki wanted to argue, but really, she was right. He was a dumbass - a lucky as fuck, happy dumbass, and at least now he knew what to look for next time.

Author: Maxine Pairings: BakuDeku Rating: R Chapters: 13/? Notes: Accidental quirk shenanigans result in an unplanned pregnancy. Post-canon, no a/b/o dynamics. Summary: It's not that Katsuki didn't want kids. He figured he'd have them one day, probably. That he and Izuku would adopt or maybe figure something else out. This is NOT how it was supposed to go. ~~~~~ CHAPTER 13 Katsuki harrumphs at him, but his hand stays firmly planted in Izuku’s hair. Combing through wild curls, occasionally giving a not-very-gentle tug. After a moment, Izuku asks, “What, uh. What are you worried about, then?” “The opposite,” Katsuki says, voice flat. “You’re scared it’s gonna disappear, I’m more fuckin’ concerned it’s gonna last forever.” Izuku’s brow furrows as he watches Katsuki, but the other man’s gaze skittered away with his words. Refusing to look at him again, apparently. “That’s not how pregnancy works.” “I mean after.” A flush darkens Katsuki’s cheeks and the tips of his ears, prompting him to mash his face into the pillow. “What if this shit permanently fucks with my body?” he grits out, muffled. “Is this just ALWAYS gonna be a goddamn possibility now?” Oh. Okay, yeah, that might be a legitimate concern. “Quirks usually don’t last like that,” Izuku says slowly. Except…for when they do. His mind flashes back to first year again – to Overhaul. He had the ability to disassemble anything he touched, and then could reassemble it again however he wanted. And he could use it on anything, including humans. Permanent changes. Izuku grimaces. As if reading his thoughts, Katsuki says, “They can, though.” He peeks up at Izuku, eyes scrunched in a glare. “What if this – fucking – uterus bullshit hangs around, huh? Am I gonna have to deal with that period crap? Become a raging psychopath like my mother every month because I’m bleeding out my asshole or something??” “I – what?” Izuku gapes at him. “Kacchan, what on earth, why would you–?” “Because I don’t have a VAGINA, DEKU,” Katsuki says loudly, and Izuku thinks his brain maybe breaks a little. bkdk mafia(?) a/b/o au
"Mr. Bakugou Katsuki," the old bat huffs in front of him, crossing her hands and setting her ugly mug atop them. "Were you or were you not told you were not to pursue Midoriya Izuku?" She sneers at him, but Katsuki stays stone-faced and bleak, knowing his parents and Izuku were watching him. "I was told not to," Katsuki speaks, shifting back in his seat, showing how little he cared for this 'meeting'.
"And what did you do?" She hisses, curling her fingers in blatant and unhidden ire at him, narrowing wrinkly eyes. "I perused and mated him, got him pregnant as well," Katsuki snorts, finding amusement at how much distress that statement brought her.
It was fucking amazing.
"And all without permission...!" Her voice picks up in a scream that startles Izuku, causing him to flinch back out of the corner of Katsuki's eye when the head of the Bakugou clan slams her hands down on the desk. "You insolent brat! I cannot believe we allowed you to be this fucking reckless!" She screeches, nails digging into the wood. "Tarnishing the Bakugou name! How could you?!" She snarls, and Katsuki raises an eyebrow, standing up slowly and sizing up the short hag.
Katsuki looms over the entirety of the room like a shadow crawling up the wall, suit tucked and crisp as he pulls the edges to flatten it out. "And what would you have done to try and stop me?" He rumbles, steady and smooth as he watches the woman shrink back slightly. "Would you have locked me away? Done something to Izuku? To what, keep this muddled blood precious and pure?" Katsuki snarls, hands smoothing over the cold mahogany wood of the desk, staring into the ugly hag's narrowed brown eyes. "I know what you did all those years, Grandma. I know your deepest secrets, I know everything," Katsuki grins, watching fear spark momentarily in her eyes before she clears her throat.
"You are to never step foot on this or any other Bakugou property as long as that muddled baby still lives and the green-haired freak Omega breathes, Katsuki. I cannot tell where we went wrong with you, and it saddens me," She puffs out, wiping down her dress. "Nothing went wrong, bitch, I simply broke from the disgusting mold that I had been put in and found some sense of humanity," Katsuki grumbles and turns, raising himself to his full height once more to walk to Izuku, who sits huddled in a corner, looking sheepish and scared.
"Come on," Katsuki soothes, pulling Deku out of the chair and close to his body, rubbing a soothing hand up and down the small of his Omega's back. "Let's go get lunch, hm?" Katsuki whispers, ignoring the family he used to have staring at him as he comforts his shaking mate.
"O-Okay," Deku whispers, clinging close to him as he walks them out of the office, ignoring the hushed snarls coming from his grandmother.
Well, ex-grandmother.
Fuck that wrinkly hag.
-
"Katsuki," His mother hisses through the phone, hushed and voice wavering. Katsuki raises an eyebrow at the tone as he momentarily stops his slow weave through Deku's hair but restarts with Deku's little whine and poke to his side. "What?" He gripes, staring down at his husband who lies between his legs, covered in a warm blanket. "Your grandmother is in jail," Katsuki processes the statement for a moment before barking a laugh. "And? Why should I care about this?" Katsuki sneers, tugging on Deku's cheek gently to feel the soft squish between his hands before cupping his mate's face for comfort.
"Because she's your grandmother, that's why!" His mom snarls, clearly irritated by Katsuki's lack of worry. "Wasn't she the one who denounced me in front of our entire clan as a Bakugou? I care more about the shit on the heel of my shoe than her," Katsuki huffs, rolling his eyes at the cut-off growl coming through the phone. "Whaddya want me to do? Bail the bitch out of jail? The money I'd use for her is going to mine and Izuku's future child's room, thank you. Let her rot in the place she deserves to be," Katsuki quips and quickly ends the call, pulling the phone away from his ear when his mother's irate scream comes through before it cuts.
"I thought they'd take longer," Izuku purrs gently, lounging on the bottom of his stomach, head resting in his arms. His eyes lay shut and paint a pretty portrait of calmness. Katsuki hums, resting his head on the headboard idly, watching the TV without truly watching it. "Mm... I guess all the shit you dug up on her was enough to put the cops into action," Katsuki chuckles mindlessly, pulling his mate up and curling to the side to hold him close.
"I wonder how she feels that her assets will skip your parents and fall right into your hands due to them helping in some of the crimes... Not enough to be thrown in jail, but juuust enough to make sure the assets are all yours," Izuku giggles, purring into his cheek as Katsuki grins. "I think she'd be abso-fucking-lutely livid. Maybe we should use some of the money she'll give us to get top-tier things for our little star," Katsuki purrs, reaching down to gently cup Deku's soft, still-small baby bump. "The best of the best," Katsuki peppers kisses all over Deku's face, holding his mate close.
Truly the best of the best.

A Week of My Enigma - Puppies and Kits
Fandom: My Hero Academia, Boku no Hero Academia
Rating: T
Genre: Gen/Fluff
AN: A week of Enigma Bakugou prompt fills. A direct follow up to 'Bitching.'
Words: 1922
Shoto would freely admit that, when Hanta had walked out leading the giant wolf hybrid that had claimed his precious Izuku, he had been skeptical.
Skeptical that they would actually get along well, despite the bond, if their way of greeting each other was to immediately start fighting, the beast growling and snarling and Izuku making noises Shoto, in all the years he’d had him, had never heard before. It’d been a week since he’d come to take Izuku home, the bitching process complete, and perhaps the connection the two had felt from the hormones and the heat had been just that, a temporary link brought on to breed, nothing more. Nothing like the life-long bonds he had done so much research into, that Hanta had told him so much about, partners in life for as long as at least one remained alive. It seemed more like they were about to tear each other apart, biting and scratching and trying to maul each other, nothing like he’d imagined.
He’d almost interfered, had pulled out the bottle of hybrid mace he’d brought just in case, only for Hanta to grab him, pulling him into a hug, stealing the mace and using his unfairly long limbs to hold it above him. “Chill, babe,” he’d chuckled, ignoring the dual-tone glare sent his way. “They’re just playing. Look closer: none of Bakugou’s bites are breaking skin, and Izuku’s got his claws sheathed. Give it a minute, they won’t hurt each other.”
It’d been almost annoying that Hanta turned out to be right, the two of them slowly calming down, growls and snarls turning into croons and stuttering purrs as the wolf finally pinned Izuku, the teeth he’d had half closed over his throat turning into a tongue bath over his neck, his chest, up to cover Izuku’s scrunched face. Even disgusted, now struggling against the wolf in an attempt to escape the forced grooming, it was clear Izuku was happier than he had been the week since Shoto had taken him home. Taken him home, cleaned off the last of the mess Hanta hadn’t been able to, a nice bath that had scrubbed off the last of the weird musk clinging to him, only to be met with a mess of a pet. While the previous alpha Izuku had been destructive, a bouncing mess that left paw prints the size of a fist in his walls, at least he’d smiled. Been happy and affectionate, cuddling in his lap and sneaking into bed between him and Hanta. But the new omega Izuku, after that bath, had been despondent, barely eating, only perking up earlier today when he’d mentioned going to the research facility.
Now, though, that previous smile was back, the same one that had gotten Shoto through the end of high school, through college and taking over his father’s business, only this time focused on someone else.
He wasn’t jealous. Just, Izuku was his baby; he’d raised him since he was a kit after his mother had left with her own rabbit Inko, forcing her to leave him behind, and there was a part of him that saw Izuku as the closest thing he’d actually get to having a child. He wasn’t jealous; he was protective. But if that wolf could bring out Izuku’s smile, he’d at least give him a chance.
He’d still been skeptical, though, over whether or not the wolf could get used to life outside of the research facility. He’d been born there, the only enigma born in captivity, and part of the reason why Shoto was allowed to take him was because of the bond and because of Hanta - if it wasn’t for them wanting to research what the enigma would do with a mate in the “wild,” and Hanta’s ability as a researcher to properly document everything, there would have been no way this would have worked. Otherwise, Shoto was sure he would have been stuck in a very long legal battle to keep them from taking Izuku, something he would have refused to let happen.
Thankfully, his property had been deemed good enough, and without any issues, once Izuku had been thoroughly groomed and once again stunk of that weird musk, the four of them had loaded up into his car to go home. He’d been surprised the wolf actually knew what a car was, that they arrived without the interior torn apart in a frenzy, but thankful, at least, that they all got there in one piece.
The house, on the other hand, took a while to get to that same point.
Whether it was the lack of things that smelled like him or the smell of the number of people coming in and out to fix what Izuku had initially broken, Shoto couldn’t be sure. Either way, the first few weeks were rough, dodging piss markings on the wall he made Hanta clean up and bite marks very much aimed to land, unlike the ones he directed towards Izuku when they play-fought. Outside the yard had been dug up, his perfectly maintained grass and flowers torn apart and turned into a field of destruction, some of Izuku’s obstacle courses caught in the crossfire. Another thing he made Hanta fix, considering the entire reason he had Izuki bitched in the first place was to reduce the amount of property damage, not just give it another form.
“Bakubro just needs some time to settle in,” Hanta had promised, wiping away the sweat from his forehead and leaving behind a smear of dirt instead. “Once he does, it’ll be great, I promise. And yes, I’ll replace your peonies.”
Again, Hanta had been right. It took a few weeks, a few long conversations that Katsuki looked like he was ignoring, refusing to look at them or write on the pad of paper they’d provided him with, but soon enough it all seemed to pass. The scent markings were minimal, he and Izuku kept their weird, destructive play-fights that more often than not ended in something that led to Shoto being glad there were so many large bushes he couldn’t see the other side of outside, and he even cooled down towards the humans. Still growled whenever someone got too close to him, baring his teeth whenever someone refused to back down, but he tolerated them. Shoto could get his bunny cuddles once again without fearing the wolf would kill him in his sleep, even if his glare wanted to promise some kind of bodily harm. More bark than bite, Shoto was learning; still dangerous, but approachable, if you knew how.
Still, though, Shoto had been skeptical that the enigma wolf hybrid would be able to be a good mate and sire. When Izuku’s stomach had started to swell, his diet leaning more towards the human foods Shoto only gave as treats, demanding nothing else but the carrot cakes and pancakes and crepes, Hanta had been able to confirm that the first heat a month ago had taken. Couldn’t tell if they were pups or kits or something else yet, just that Izuku was pregnant, and Shoto was going to be a granddad. But would Katsuki be a good sire?
Hanta didn’t need to say anything for Katsuki to prove Shoto wrong. It was strange, seeing the wolf visibly soften when they told him the news, tail wagging fast enough to knock a cup from the end table he’d been standing near. He’d never seen even an alpha on their knees before, but the enigma had been happy to fall to them before Izuku, his face pressing hard against the slight swell of his belly, clawed hands bunching the shirt they’d dressed Izuku in before leaving the house to use it to draw him closer.
It was a profoundly private moment, yet still part of Shoto wished he could understand whatever language the hybrids spoke, could know what the little chirps and croons and purrs that passed between the two meant. Perhaps for the best he couldn’t, though, if the blush that soon enough spread across both hybrid’s faces, accompanied by Bakugou’s smirk, gave him an idea.
He continued to prove himself as Izuku’s stomach continued to grow, Hanta’s best guess that they had another two months to set everything up getting them all in gear. Buying supplies, organizing it all, setting up the nursery and nest over and over and over until Izuku was finally happy with the result. Not once did the enigma falter, following every demand and order given, even going out of his way and following some level of instincts they didn’t know to comfort Izuku, readying their home for the first addition to their family.
An addition that came sooner than they expected, Katsuki guarding the closet door where Izuku had made his makeshift nest, Hanta trying to talk some sense into the wolf hybrid that they were there to help, there was no danger, all they had to do was make sure he and their children were ok. Whether or not they were understood, or if the distressed sounds and smells coming from behind him overran any and everything Hanta was trying to do, Shoto wasn’t sure. All he knew was that Katsuki was scared, was defending his mate, and needed help. Help the enigma never asked for, had never asked for in the short amount of time they’d known each other, but help he had to accept.
“Bakugou,” he said softly, hands out, showing there was nothing he could do to harm them. “I love him too. Let us help him.”
A long moment, Katsuki leaning forward, his teeth closing over Shoto’s wrist, sharp and dangerous and promising an injury he wouldn’t be able to recover from. Only for Katsuki to release him a moment later, moving to the side with a whine, letting them pass.
Shoto almost cried when, a few hours later, Hanta handed him the first kit, small and blond and blind, little rabbit legs kicking out while its human-like hands tried to rub at its face. The little thing squalled in his arms as he carefully wiped away from the mess, freeing its floppy ears from the gunk that had kept them plastered to its skin, the worst of it gone before he handed it over to the impatiently waiting Katsuki to finish grooming. A process repeated not too long later, the tiny little green wolf quieter than their sibling, though their eyes open and red and blinking sleeping up at him, a sight that did make him sob when he had to turn them over.
Any skepticism Shoto might have had left against Bakugou was gone by the time the wolf grabbed him, chuffed him on the forehead with his chin (scenting you, a little voice that reminded him of Hanta supplied, marking you as pack) and settled him on the other side of Izuku, letting him stare down at his grandchildren. Not in blood or species, but the closest thing to a family he had, now a little bit bigger.
So if asked, Shoto would say he had been suspicious, yes, but thankfully his now husband had reassured him many times that the enigma could be trusted, and the wolf had proved himself over and over again. Two things Shoto was glad for, his house full of furry little grandchildren, something he was more than happy with.
Something Izuku and Katsuki were grateful for too, curled up in their nest, fulfilling their promises of keeping each other forever.
