Book 1: Intertwined Destinies
Chapter 1
Fandom: Avatar the Last Air Bender
Summary: Music night washes over Iroh. The crew’s attention  on each other means no one notices  their allegedly ill prince slipping over the side of the Wani and onto the dock.
Zuko, as The Blue Spirit, is leaving to meet another White Lotus Bud agent to exchange information on the Earth Armies for similar details on Fire Nation troops.
The White Lotus Buds are more successful than Iroh expected. Sometimes he thinks the war would end in days if they left the operatives in charge.
The White Lotus Buds were inspired by Zuko himself. It wasn't difficult to connect The Blue Spirit’s earlier escapades with Zuko. Not once one realized there were connections to make.
Iroh does not know when the sneaking began, though he has his suspicions. Ten year old princes don’t go missing for days on end easily. And there's the  ambiguity surrounding  Azulon’s death and Ursa’s sudden flight. When it started doesn’t truly matter when Zuko will not speak of it.
Shaking off his wandering curiosity, Iroh lets himself be drawn into the singing of an old sea shanty. It helps keep an old man awake, which he will need if he wants to be alert for his nephew’s return later that night.

Sokka stomps his feet against the  iron deck of the abandoned Fire Nation ship beneath him and pulls the arctic fox-bear skin lower over his face. Until recently he’d thought the mask-hood combo Gran Gran had insisted he keep was ridiculous. He might technically be a White Lotus Bud, but much like being a man of the tribe, it was in name only. Despite his eighteen years he’d never even been ice dodging.
Then he’d received word from Gran Gran that he’d be meeting with another operative, The Blue Spirit himself. To say that Sokka was excited was to put it mildly. The Blue Spirit was a legend in their organization. The top operative the White Lotus had to offer. And Sokka was going to meet him tonight! Though his excitement had waned in the last  three hours and several degrees.

Cody and Trevor (Ch 1)
Chapter 1: Unseen Desires
In the heart of the bustling city, where skyscrapers reached for the heavens and the neon lights painted the night, there existed an unassuming apartment building. Within its brick walls, on the third floor, lived two roommates named Cody and Trevor.
Cody, with his sandy blond hair and piercing blue eyes, had an athleticism about him that drew attention wherever he went. He stood at 5'9", the very picture of rugged handsomeness, always clad in jeans that hugged his muscular thighs and t-shirts that showed off his defined chest. His easygoing smile could disarm anyone, but he reserved a special one for Trevor.
Trevor, also 5'9", had a different kind of charm. His dark hair was always styled just right, and his green eyes held a hint of mystery. His athletic build was undeniable, and he often wore tight-fitting shirts that accentuated his toned physique. He had a friendly, charismatic demeanor, though a certain tension lingered when he was around Cody.
Their apartment was filled with an unspoken tension, a magnetic pull between them that neither dared to acknowledge. As Cody tossed a basketball between his hands, his gaze lingered a fraction too long on Trevor's sculpted arms as he fixed a snack in the kitchen. Trevor's eyes, hidden behind a book he was pretending to read, followed Cody's every move with equal fascination.
Little did they know that the world they inhabited held secrets beyond their wildest dreams. A world where supernatural forces thrived, and destinies intertwined in the most unexpected ways. The clock ticked away, counting down the moments until their hidden desires would come to light, changing their lives forever.
Chapter 2: Unseen Changes
As the days passed, Cody and Trevor's morning routine remained a constant. They would wake up early, groggily shuffling into the bathroom to prepare for the day ahead. The mirror above the sink reflected their athletic forms, side by side.
One crisp morning, Trevor glanced at his reflection, the steam from the hot shower swirling around him. He frowned, his fingers trailing over the fabric of his shirt. It clung tighter to his chest, showcasing muscles that seemed to have appeared overnight. Bewildered, he tugged at the shirt's collar, feeling the resistance.
Cody, toweling his hair dry nearby, noticed Trevor's puzzled expression in the mirror. He arched an eyebrow, mirroring Trevor's actions and tugging at his own shirt. His eyes widened as he observed the same phenomenon. The shirts that had fit them perfectly yesterday now hugged their expanding chests and broader shoulders.
"Hey, Trev, you notice this?" Cody muttered, his voice tinged with confusion.
Trevor nodded slowly, a mix of surprise and concern washing over him. "Yeah, something's... different."
Unbeknownst to them, the apartment they shared held secrets of its own. Mysterious energies pulsed through its walls, granting them newfound strength and height, altering their very beings.
Days turned into weeks, and the changes in Trevor became more pronounced. His height surpassed Cody's, and his once-athletic build had transformed into a statuesque physique. It was as if an unseen force was sculpting him into something more than human, something irresistible.
Cody couldn't help but watch in awe as Trevor grew more handsome with each passing day, his own attraction to his roommate deepening. Yet, neither of them could explain these otherworldly changes, nor could they foresee the tumultuous journey their lives were about to take.
Chapter 3: Unspoken Desires
The morning sun streamed through the bedroom window, casting a warm glow that seemed to amplify the tension between Cody and Trevor. They stood face to face, their eyes locked, each acutely aware of the subtle but undeniable shift in dynamics.
Cody couldn't help but feel a pang of insecurity as he looked up at Trevor, who now towered over him. "Are you taller than me now?" he asked, a hint of playful competitiveness in his voice.
Trevor flashed a sly grin, his newfound height giving him an air of confidence. "Looks like it," he replied, his voice low and husky. It was a small victory that he couldn't help but enjoy.
As the room seemed to shrink around them, Cody's fascination with Trevor's transformation grew stronger. His eyes remained fixed on Trevor as he began to undress, the play of muscles beneath his skin captivating Cody's attention. Trevor's physique had evolved into a work of art, and Cody couldn't tear his gaze away.
The room was charged with unspoken desires, desires that had been buried deep within them for so long. The supernatural forces that had been at work in their lives had brought them to this moment, where their attraction for each other could no longer be denied.
Little did they know that these changes were only the beginning, and their journey into the paranormal world had just begun. The bond between them was growing stronger, and it was only a matter of time before they would be forced to confront the truth about their feelings and the mysterious forces that had brought them together.
Chapter 4: Unveiled Desires
The charged atmosphere between Cody and Trevor continued to simmer as the morning unfolded. Trevor, feeling the weight of his newfound height and muscularity, couldn't resist a sly request. "Hey, Cody," he said with a mischievous grin, "think you could give me a massage? I've been feeling a bit tense lately."
Cody, ever eager to please, readily agreed. "Sure thing, buddy," he replied, his heart racing at the thought of his hands on Trevor's sculpted body.
As Trevor lay face down on the bed, Cody straddled his friend, his strong hands kneading the tension from Trevor's broad shoulders. The physical contact sent shivers down Trevor's spine, and he couldn't help but feel a rush of desire. His body responded, and he was painfully aware of his growing arousal.
Embarrassment flushed Trevor's cheeks as he tried to conceal his reaction. Cody, however, was keenly observant, and he couldn't ignore the undeniable evidence of Trevor's arousal pressing against the mattress.
Cody's touch faltered for a moment as he noticed Trevor's growing desire. He cleared his throat, his own heart pounding. "Trev, are you...?" he began, but the words caught in his throat.
Trevor, mortified, tried to laugh it off. "Yeah, sorry about that. Must be the tension."
But Cody knew better. Something more than tension was at play here. The supernatural forces that had altered their bodies seemed to be affecting every aspect of their lives, including their deepest desires. And as their secrets unraveled, they would soon discover that their connection ran deeper than they could have ever imagined.
Chapter 5: Mysterious Transformations
The morning light filtered through the bedroom window, casting a warm, golden glow on Cody and Trevor as they stood side by side. The strange sensations they had experienced during their intimate moment the previous day still lingered in the air like a tantalizing secret.
As Cody's fingers grazed Trevor's skin during the massage, a tingling sensation had coursed through him, leaving him both curious and bewildered. Trevor, on the other hand, had felt an unexpected surge of power and masculinity flow into him, making him feel stronger and more virile than ever before.
Neither of them spoke of these sensations, choosing instead to keep their newfound awareness to themselves. However, the mysterious changes continued to unfold.
The next morning, Trevor was the first to notice something unusual as he stood before the bathroom mirror. He examined his reflection closely, running his hands over his chest, which was now adorned with a dusting of extra body hair. His muscles seemed to bulge more prominently, and he couldn't help but flex, admiring the newfound strength and definition. He had transformed into a living embodiment of masculinity, and it filled him with a strange sense of power.
"Want breakfast?" Trevor asked Cody, snapping out of his self-inspection. His heightened masculinity had also stirred an intense hunger within him.
Cody, still in the process of getting dressed, turned to face Trevor. His eyes widened as he took in the sight before him. Trevor's once-athletic build had expanded into a formidable physique. "Damn boy, you're getting big!" Cody exclaimed, patting Trevor on the shoulder, which now felt more solid and substantial than ever.
Trevor smiled, appreciating Cody's compliment but feeling an odd sense of unease deep down. He had noticed that Cody seemed to be getting smaller, but he wasn't ready to voice his suspicions.
Cody, on the other hand, couldn't help but ignore the slight looseness in his clothes and the fact that he was now eye level with Trevor's shoulder. He chalked it up to an illusion, attributing it to the change in Trevor's physique.
Unbeknownst to both of them, the mysterious forces at play were gradually transferring Cody's size and strength to Trevor. The bond between them had taken on a supernatural dimension, and their lives were becoming entwined in ways they could never have imagined. As their transformations continued, they would soon be forced to confront the truth about their connection and the profound changes that were reshaping their bodies and desires.
Chapter 6: Appetite for More
As days turned into weeks, the peculiar transformations that had taken hold of Cody and Trevor only became more pronounced. Trevor's physical changes were undeniable, his body growing larger and more muscular with each passing day. He had become a paragon of masculine strength, and his newfound appetite seemed insatiable.
Cody, on the other hand, had become increasingly aware of his diminishing stature and strength. His clothes hung loosely on his frame, and he found himself feeling less hungry, less energetic, and less like the athletic powerhouse he had once been.
One morning, as they sat down to breakfast, the contrast between them was striking. Trevor piled his plate high with eggs, bacon, and toast, his powerful frame demanding a constant influx of fuel. He devoured his food with gusto, his appetite seemingly boundless.
Cody, however, picked at his food, his appetite waning as his body continued to shrink. He watched in amazement as Trevor ate, his mind swirling with questions about the strange changes they were experiencing.
"Trev," Cody finally ventured, unable to contain his curiosity any longer, "have you noticed how much you're eating lately? It's like you can't get enough."
Trevor paused mid-bite, his brow furrowing as he considered Cody's observation. "Yeah, it's weird," he admitted, his voice taking on a contemplative tone. "I can't stop myself. I'm always hungry, and the more I eat, the stronger I feel."
Cody's eyes narrowed as he made the connection. "And I've been feeling less hungry... and smaller," he confessed, finally acknowledging the unsettling truth.
Trevor's gaze met Cody's, and a sense of unease settled between them. The supernatural forces that had brought them together were not just reshaping their bodies; they were altering their very appetites and desires, creating a profound imbalance that neither of them fully understood.
As their journey into the paranormal world continued, Cody and Trevor would soon come to realize that their connection ran deeper than physical attraction. They were bound by forces beyond their control, and the mysteries surrounding their transformations were far from being unraveled.

Archiving Love
Happy New Year! Let's start the year off with an OC that I'm so excited to be working with by @onthesquammer! Their name is Evelien, and I think my readers will be able to relate to them pretty well.
This is chapter 1 of a two chapter slow-burn romance with Aether, and chapter 2 will be posted in two weeks.
Tumblr media
As you approach the ancient, ivy-covered facade of the Monastery, a flutter of excitement and a twinge of apprehension mingle in your chest. Today is no ordinary day for you, Evelien Waters— Eve as you're more fondly known. At the age of 30, this day marks a significant turn in your life’s journey - it's the day you'll meet Cardinal Copia's, no… Papa’s, new Ghouls for the first time. He had been promoted to Papa recently while on tour and just came home to the Abbey for the first time since departing almost two years ago. The prospect of meeting his new Ghouls, freshly summoned and feral, has a knot growing in the pit of your stomach.
Your path here hasn't been a straight line, nor has it been easy or particularly given to you, as it was given to some of your peers in the Abbey. Marred by physical struggles and emotional scars from your past traumas, your journey to the Emeritus Satanic Church of The Morning Star has been a testament to your resilience— but it's this very resilience that has brought you to this moment, standing at the cusp of something new and thrilling. Not only is it your first time meeting the newly summoned Papal Ghouls, but it’s your first day formally working in the library as an archivist.
Despite your usual confidence in your work and dedication, today feels different. The idea of meeting the new Ghouls sends a ripple of nervous energy through you. You've heard stories about them, their mystique, their unparalleled skills, and their devotion to Copia. When you first came to visit the Abbey, the Cardinal’s Ghouls had already been firmly in place— personalities developed and roles given, they were content and more human-like than you had expected. These newly summoned Ghouls, fresh from the circles, had the potential to be more dangerous and unruly. The Monastery, with its walls steeped in history and secrets, suddenly seems more alive, more daunting.
Taking in a deep breath, you try to calm your racing thoughts. The apprehension slowly morphs into a sense of curiosity and a readiness. You came all this way to serve your friend, Copia. The small cottage you used to inhabit now lay empty at the bottom of the mountain that the Abbey rests on, and there’s a small tug in your gut that says “go home”. But the stronger tug in your heart says “no, go forward”. After all, isn't this what you've always wanted? A chance to be part of something larger, something magical and steeped in history? The reign of Papa Emeritus the Fourth promises to be something of that value to you, and you know that it begins by getting your foot inside that door.
You drift off as you stare at the filigree above the door of the Abbey, remembering the day that set you on this path: a career fair during your Master’s program in archival and museum studies. That day, shrouded in anxiety like a dense fog laying thick on your shoulders, you were on the verge of turning back… but fate intervened in the form of Cardinal Copia. A figure both enigmatic and charismatic, he stood out amidst the sea of faces, the raccoon black paint around his eyes instantly striking you as an interesting person to engage in conversation. There was an air of mystery about him that intrigued you, and as you would soon find out, he was there with a purpose – a purpose that intertwined with your own destiny. It wasn’t long before you were taken under his wing as the official archivist for the Church, taking care of the vast amounts of books.
Under the tutelage of Copia in Rome, you were slowly initiated into the world of ancient texts and artifacts. Each day brought new insights and deepened your expertise, allowing you to understand more and more esoteric texts that became more and more important to the Church. However, Rome also represented a realm of restraint that you quickly became uncomfortable with. The Ghouls – mysterious, alluring, and intriguing – were strictly off-limits, a boundary firmly set by the authoritative bishop in a clear overreach of power. As a pagan in a dominion of unwavering faith, this exclusion stung, yet you found solace in the rich history and captivating stories hidden in the archives. Eventually, after enough work in Rome, you were transferred to the main Abbey campus and away from the overly strict heads of the Church.
You stayed off campus for the most part, preferring to live on your own where you could practice your own religion in peace, without worrying about possibly offending those who practiced at the Abbey. Books would be delivered to you on a weekly basis and the pay was good— although the visits from Copia were the best pay of all. Lunches and casual tea breaks heralded by the purr of the Cardinal’s car engine as it approached your secluded grove, and the occasional chess night that sometimes involved a bit too much brandy.
The move from Rome, however, marked a significant shift, not just in location, but in atmosphere. The Ghouls, previously beyond reach under the Church’s command, now sparked a new curiosity within you. Among them, Aether stood out, becoming an unexpected ally in helping you navigate and overcome the anxiety surrounding these once-forbidden interactions. Through his conversational skill and general sense of comfort and ease that he seemed to carry with him, you managed to relax more into your role both as a job and around the people you worked with.
In this new environment though, your relationship with Copia took on a more complex hue than it had had when in Rome. You’re close – friends, even – but there’s an unspoken line drawn in the sand. He is your superior, and the underlying tension of overstepping professional boundaries looms large. Yet, in his presence, you find a semblance of peace, a respite from the internal storms of your mind. Anxiety was soothed in his presence, as were the whirling thoughts of self-sabotage and nervousness.
Your days working in your small home for the Abbey are draped in a comforting silence, a contrast to the cacophony of the outside world that you had become so used to only two years before. The only sounds are the gentle turning of pages and the occasional, whispered conversations of the Siblings who act as book deliverers. Your hobbies – reading, writing, crocheting, knitting – become more than just pastimes; they are gateways to worlds of your creation, realms where you can weave your thoughts and dreams into tangible forms. Nature walks through the dense woods that envelope the Abbey offer another kind of solace, a chance to connect with the natural world and find a measure of peace and introspection.
You shake your head, dispelling the cobwebs of your thoughts that linger in the corners of your mind. The stone below you is firm, the sky above you is calm. All is fine. The large carved oak doors of the Abbey swing open and a gust of warm incense tinted air envelops you. You’ve only been inside the actual building once, to sign hiring papers with Papa Nihil, the acting figurehead of the Abbey. It’s been long enough that you’ve mostly forgotten the magical feeling when you cross the threshold for the first time. There’s a tingle along your skin as you step over the threshold and you’re instantly warmer, compared to the chilly air of Winter just outside.
The statue of the Baphomet sits hunched in the center of the entry hall of the Abbey, its ruby eyes seeming to glow in the morning sun as it rises behind you, peering through the door over your shoulder. A Ghoul in a full face mask sweeps past you and nods in silent acknowledgement, shutting the Abbey doors behind himself as he darts through. The entry hall falls into a comfortable darkness, lit only by the candles by the feet of the Baphomet and the small stained glass windows at the front. You remember Copia’s written instructions in the letter summoning you for official duty, and take the hallway on the right.
The doors to the library are large and heavy, and you grunt slightly as you tug one of them open, stepping through quickly as it shuts behind you. This is a moment you've anticipated with a mix of eagerness and reverence— the library in the Abbey is renowned for the collection of tomes, and to be the head archivist here is something of an achievement. As the heavy doors swing open, you're greeted by a world that seems to exist out of time. The library is a magnificent testament to the pursuit of knowledge, its high, arched ceilings adorned with frescoes that tell stories of scholarly quests and mystical secrets. Your eyes scan the paintings from one end of the room to the other, noting the small and somewhat pointed references to the Church scattered throughout seemingly innocuous scenes— evil in plain sight. The sunlight streams through the stained glass windows, bathing the room in a soft, multi-hued glow.
The shelves, crafted from dark mahogany, rise up like silent sentinels, guarding the treasures they hold. Volumes bound in leather and vellum line the shelves, their spines adorned with intricate gold lettering. Each book is a portal to another time and place, a repository of knowledge waiting to be unlocked. You recognize some of the tome’s bindings as having been your own repair work, and you smile softly— seeing a book that you’ve tended to be back in the general population is a silent approval of your work from Papa.
At the heart of the library stands a grand oak table, its surface polished to a mirror-like sheen. Surrounding it are high-backed chairs, each one a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Above, a majestic chandelier hangs, its crystals catching the light and scattering it across the room. The crystals are blood red and the sconces a shimmering silver, leaving the light that it casts tinted faintly pink. It has an oddly comforting effect and you find yourself admiring it. The floor beneath your feet is made up of long and thick planks of wood, bolted together and sanded down after years of wear and tear. To the left, a spiral staircase winds its way to an upper gallery, offering a panoramic view of the library below. This elevated sanctuary is home to the rarest of the Abbey's collection, books so ancient and fragile that they are protected behind glass, shielded from the ravages of time. You know with a single glance that this will be your bread and butter— tomes to be studied with gloves and glass.
As you venture deeper into the library, the sense of awe grows. The silence here is alive, filled with the whispers of centuries-old pages turning and the soft creak of wood. Each book is a custodian of stories, of history, of secrets waiting to be unraveled. You feel a profound sense of reverence, aware that you are standing in the midst of something much greater than yourself. This is what you’ve come here to tend to— the silent keepers of knowledge that hold more secrets than the Abbey itself could ever hope to achieve.
This library has the potential to become your sanctuary, a place where your passion for history, stories, and knowledge finds fertile ground. The books and manuscripts around you are not just historical artifacts; they are living entities, each carrying the essence of the authors and the epochs they represent. Papa Nihil had done a good job at maintaining the flow of information in and out of the Abbey, collecting tomes for research purposes and extending written copies of the translations to other Abbey’s across the globe.
As you familiarize yourself with the library's layout throughout the length of your first day, you discover hidden corners and secluded nooks, each with its own unique charm. There's a small alcove with a comfortable armchair, perfect for losing yourself in a book, and nowhere near the main gathering area of the library. Near one of the large windows, a vintage writing desk sits, its surface adorned with an antique quill and inkwell, inviting you to pen your thoughts. A small secret door seems to be nestled in the wall beside the fireplace, but you never quite manage to find the switch that operates the hinge.
The Abbey's library also houses a collection of rare maps and scrolls, their delicate lines and scripts revealing the geographical and philosophical understandings of bygone eras. As soon as you find them, you allow yourself to close your eyes and imagine spending hours poring over these documents, tracing the contours of ancient lands and deciphering the symbols and languages of the past. The ink is raised just slightly on the paper, and you feel it slide across the pad of your thumb as you rustle through the papers.
An hour or so after you arrive, the doors swing open with an accompanied grunt that you recognize all too well.
“Ahh, Evelien, you are already here?” Papa enters the library with the same small and hunched over bow of self introduction that you recognized from his time as Cardinal— after all, he’s still the same man underneath the promotion and the face paint. “How are you liking our little slice of Alexandria? Beautiful, isn’t she?” Papa’s eyes leave yours to scan over the stacks of books as well, a faint smile of admiration across his painted lips. He truly loves these stone walls; the stories held inside resonate with him, and you can tell he has a sense of pride when he’s here.
“Quite honestly, Papa, it’s a little overwhelming.” You gesture to the rows of books that seem to go on forever before turning your attention back to him, now standing in front of you. “I imagine there’s a lot to be done.” Papa nods, his face sympathetic for a moment before he reaches out, his leather gloved hands holding yours gently.
“First, we say hello, hm?” His smile reaches his eyes as he looks down at you, eventually tugging you into a soft hug. “I’m glad to see that you’re well, rather than being told so through the phone and letters.” Papa’s chin rests on the top of your head comfortably and you allow yourself, just for a moment, to feel vulnerable and quite, quite loved. He’s practically your best friend, after all, and the one who knows you down to the layers of your soul.
“It’s good to see you as well, Papa.” The new title feels foreign on your tongue, but you know you’ll adapt in time. After all, you’ll be here for years, most likely.
Papa steps back, still cradling that gentle warmth in his eyes, a comfort that has always been a solace for you. "Let's begin your first day properly," he suggests, his voice tinged with a soft excitement. “Do you remember when I showed you around the archives of Roma? I’d like to do that again.” His smile is genuine and you can’t help but smile back at him, allowing him to take your arm in his, guiding you through the library on a make-shift tour that’s much more interesting than it was when you were alone.
As you wander through the library with him, each book and artifact becomes a story, narrated with Papa's deep, personal insights— he seems to have some form of trivia for every book. It feels like a journey through a living history, with Papa as your charismatic guide. More than once, a Sibling or two pass Papa with a nod or a bow, and you remember just how different the status quo is now, after his promotion in Mexico. A chill runs up your spine when you remember the rumors of the new Ghouls, certainly more feral and untrained than the ones who had delivered books to you at your cottage. You manage to shake off the anxiety and tune back in to Papa as he speaks, just in time to catch the end of his sentence.
"...and your new room is just in the back of the library," Papa continues with a knowing smile, "for convenience, you know." His eyes twinkle with a hint of playfulness, understanding the allure of being surrounded by so much knowledge. "You'll find it quite cozy and well-appointed. I’m sure the Sister Imperator had some clothes delivered for you. Of course, non-standard Abbey attire, as you are not a Sibling." Copia inclines his head towards you in a quiet display of respect for your chosen path.
"Um, Papa," you begin hesitantly, your curiosity piqued about the peculiar location of your new bedroom, "why is my room situated in the back of the library?" It’s not that you mind, exactly, but there is a certain type of exclusion that stains the uncurrent of his words. At least, that’s what your inner anxiety is telling you. Best to ask and find out for sure, though.
Papa nods, understanding the unspoken question behind your query. "Ah, Eve, it's quite practical, you see," he starts, his voice carrying a note of enthusiasm. "The library is not just a place of work for you; it's a realm of learning. Having your room here allows you easy access to the trove of knowledge, even outside regular hours. You are the only one, aside from my Ghoul Rain, that is allowed inside the library after dark. Imagine the convenience of waking up and being just a few steps away from all of these books!"
His explanation makes sense, and you can't help but feel a sense of excitement at the prospect. "That does sound amazing," you admit, already envisioning late-night explorations among the ancient tomes as your eyes scan once more across the paintings along the ceiling. Making a home in the back of the library… Quiet. Peaceful. Alone, if you want to be.
You can already see it, and a smile starts to spread slowly across your face.
During your tour, Papa leads you to a section brimming with archival equipment. "Here's where we keep the tools you'll be familiar with," he says with a gesture that encompasses the neatly organized space. He briefly points out each item – the delicate brushes, the magnifying glasses, and the soft cloths used for handling ancient texts. "Feel free to use anything you need," he adds with a smile. You nod, appreciating the convenience of having all these familiar tools readily available in your new workspace. The magnifying glass feels good in your hand, weighty and clearly costly, but not a hindrance to your work or range of motion.
“This feels absolutely perfect, Co-... Papa,” you say, catching yourself about to refer to him by name rather than title. If he notices, he makes no indication of it, only beaming a smile at you as you look over the tools.
As you continue the tour, Papa's tone shifts to a more serious note. "During the night, the Ghouls have the liberty to roam the Abbey as they please," he explains. "However, they are strictly prohibited from entering private bedroom areas. It's a rule we've firmly established for everyone's comfort and privacy." His reassurance is comforting, addressing the unspoken anxiety you felt about the rumors of the new, more untamed Ghouls. With this, a sense of security settles over you, easing the tension that had begun to build in your shoulders and stomach.
As the day's tour with Papa comes to an end, you find yourself standing alone in the center of the library. The bustling activity of the day has faded away, leaving a serene stillness in its wake. You take a moment to breathe in the quiet, feeling a deep sense of contentment and anticipation. The air is heavy like a blanket across your shoulders, but it’s a comforting weight. As the evening slowly sets in, the library begins its transformation. The fading daylight gives way to the soft, warm glow of lamps, casting long, dancing shadows between the shelves.
The library at night transforms into a different world. As the daylight fades and the lamps cast a soft glow, the atmosphere becomes more intimate, more mystical. The fading daylight gives way to the soft, ambient glow of lamps, casting a warm, inviting light over the ancient tomes and manuscripts. The once familiar aisles and shelves now take on an ethereal quality, shrouded in a gentle luminescence that seems to breathe life into the stillness.
The shadows, cast by the books and furniture, begin to play on the walls and floor, moving like silent dancers in a serene nocturnal ballet, purely for those who are here at the perfect time to witness them. It’s as if the spirits of the past authors, scholars, and adventurers, whose lives are entwined with the pages of these books, have awakened to roam the aisles once more. Each whisper of turning pages sounds like hushed conversations between long-gone literary giants.
In this dim light, the intricate designs on the spines of the books become more pronounced, each one telling its own tale through the artistry of its binding. The dust motes dance in the beams of light, adding to the magical atmosphere, making the library feel like a portal to another world, a place out of time. The gold embroidered onto some of the leather spines of the books glint and gleam in the moments that the light hits them perfectly.
The air itself seems to thicken with a sense of anticipation, as if the library is holding its breath. It’s so tempting that you almost give in, the yearn for knowledge and the desire to know more about your surroundings pulling at your midsection like a rope.
You don’t, however, and the prickling feeling on the back of your neck suggests that you made the right choice. Papa explained that the Ghouls weren’t able to enter the living quarters of the Siblings in the Abbey, and your room DOES count as living quarters… but the library doesn’t. Another chills runs up your spine at the realization and your eyes begin to track every shadow along the walls with the silent fear that it may be a Ghoul— a recently summoned one.
Decision made, you retreat to your new bedroom nestled in the back of the grand space. It's a small, cozy room, with just enough space for a comfortable bed and a bookshelf— a quaint and intimate sanctuary. The seclusion of the room feels both comforting and a bit isolating, you’re being honest with yourself. The walls are painted a soft, calming hue, complementing the dark wooden flooring. A plush bed sits against one wall, adorned with comfortable, crisp linens and a heavy, warm quilt, perfect for the chilly nights in the Abbey. Beside it, a small nightstand holds a lamp and a few cherished personal items that had been sent ahead prior to your arrival, nearly arranged.
The room also features a modest bookshelf, already housing a selection of your favorite books and leaving space for new finds from the library. Across from the bed, a window with thick curtains offers a view of the moonlit grounds, adding a touch of natural beauty to the room. A small altar space is thoughtfully arranged in one corner, allowing you to practice and meditate in privacy. This personal spiritual nook, combined with the comforting ambiance of the room, almost has you feeling as though you’re back in the small cottage at the foot of the mountain— home.
As the night deepens, you're surrounded by an unusual stillness, broken only by the occasional creak of the library settling. Lying in bed, you can't shake the feeling of being watched, a sensation that's both unnerving and intriguing. The room, with its dim light through the foggy glass window, feels like a safe cocoon, yet the vast and shadow-filled library beyond your door seems to hold a mysterious presence.
You recall Papa's words about the Ghouls being allowed to roam at night, and wonder if one of them is nearby, observing you from the darkness. Newly summoned and still somewhat feral, you briefly consider the possibility that the new Ghoul will ignore the Abbey rule of not entering living quarters. The thought sends a chill down your spine, yet there's a part of you that's curious about them— never able to interact with them before in Rome, you try to assuage yourself that there’s nothing to be worried about.
That doesn’t stop you from swinging your legs out of bed and crossing to the wooden door of your bedroom, double checking that the heavy bolt is slid properly into place. Your heart thumps steadily as you reach the wooden door of your bedroom, the cool night air of the room brushing against your skin. Gently, your fingers graze the heavy bolt, ensuring it's securely slid into place. A sense of safety washes over you, even as the shadows of the library seem to press close against the door's other side. You stand there for a moment, the silence of your room a stark contrast to the eerie whispers of the library at night.
Despite the rational voice in your head cautioning against it, your hands reach for the heavy bolt again, this time sliding it open with a faint but resounding click. Heart pounding with a mixture of fear and excitement, you slowly open the door, peering into the dimly lit library. The sight that greets you is like something from a gothic tale and a chill makes your flesh rise. The library is bathed in shadows, the moonlight casting an eerie luminescence through the windows. As your eyes adjust to the inky blackness, you notice a shadowy figure moving stealthily among the shelves. The figure is cloaked in darkness, its movements graceful yet haunting.
You watch, transfixed, as the shadowy figure pauses, tilting its head as if sensing something in the air. The air is thick with tension, and for a moment, you wonder if you should retreat back to the safety of your room. But curiosity roots you to the spot, your gaze locked on the mysterious Ghoul. As the figure moves closer, you can see its outline more clearly – a large black helmet sits where the head should be, and the tail flicks freely behind it. You watch the fabric of its suit pants crease and fold with its movements and the detail signals an important memory in your brain— Papa’s newly summoned Ghouls wear suit pants and a helmet. The realization sends a rush of cold water down your spine to pool in your gut, solidifying into fear. The Ghoul seems to be searching for something, or perhaps someone. Your breath catches in your throat as it suddenly turns, its eyes meeting yours in the dim light. Even through the thick glass of the goggles it’s wearing, there’s no mistaking the slightly glowing amber orbs behind them.
For a moment, time seems to stand still. Then, with a swift and silent motion, the Ghoul lunges towards you. Your heart leaps into your mouth, fear seizing you. But just as quickly as it moved, the Ghoul stops, mere inches away from you. There's a moment of charged silence as the Ghoul studies you, its gaze intense and head tilted to the side in curiosity. You stand frozen, locked in a silent standoff with the Ghoul. The tension in the air is palpable, a mix of fear and intrigue forming a bridge between you two. Neither of you moves, each assessing the other in the dim light of the library. The moment stretches, time seemingly suspended in the quiet night.
Then, slowly, the Ghoul reaches up and removes its helmet, revealing a familiar face beneath. The small pointed teeth that indent his lips just slightly, and the dimples of his smile, already wide and welcoming. When the Ghoul gives you a bow and an all too familiar and beloved laugh, relief spreads through your gut. It's Aether. Recognition flashes through you, a mix of relief and surprise washing over you. The fear that had gripped you fades away, replaced by a dawning realization of the connection you two have, built up from book deliveries and small conversations when he accompanied Papa.
Aether's eyes meet yours, a silent understanding passing between you. His presence, once a source of unease, now brings a burgeoning sense of connection. His grin only widens when he notices the recognition in your eyes and makes a point of holding up his hands harmlessly and taking a step back, eyes still glinting with a predatory light. Now that he isn’t skulking around in the outer field of your vision, you’re able to take in the outfit he’s wearing in detail.
“You’re the new Ghoul everyone has been warning me about?” Aether grins broader as your shoulders untense and you visibly relax. He kicks out one foot and makes a show of dusting off his shoulders and displaying the brand new velvet trimmed vest that he’s wearing. The clasps shine bright gold in the faint light and you realize it was most likely those and the matching filigree on his boots that you saw against the ceiling.
“Did they say we’re feral?” Aether flexes his lip slightly, poking a fang further out before laughing, one arm over his stomach. He’s already shaking his head and you feel the rest of the tension bleed out of your body— Aether would never lie to you, and if Papa’s old Ghouls were merely promoted instead of being resummoned…
“So there’s no… newly summoned ones?” you ask, rubbing the back of your neck in blatant worry. Aether is already shaking his head no, smiling down at you in a way that starts to pool warmth in your gut.
“No, little cub. Just some fancy new clothes, ay?” He goes to take another step towards you and seems to think better of it, tucking one hand in his pocket. “You're not in any danger, Evvy. S’alright.” He smiles again and you feel your stomach do a somersault. It had never been like this before, why was his presence affecting you like this now?
“That's good to hear, then.” You turn to look behind you briefly, gesturing at your door. “My door does come with a pretty hefty padlock, though.”
“Abbey standards!” Aether smiles and raps his knuckles on the harder portion of his helmet, making a dull thunking sound. “Papa cares about the safety and vulnerability of all of his Siblings, especially when it comes to keeping them safe from Ghouls in heat.”
“Heat?” You feel your face drain. In the same instant, from the other side of the library, you start to hear Ghouls chittering and talking to each other in their own Hell-sent language. The sound of it sends goosebumps up and down your arms. Aether turns to the direction that the voices are coming from and starts to bring his helmet back to his head, tossing you a wink before his face disappears from sight, replaced by the inky black leather and glass.
“Later, ay, pet? It's hunt night and I can't leave them hangin’ forever. Sorry for scaring you though, love.” Aether goes to reach for you, thinks better of it, and sketches out a small bow instead. Just like that, he's off, bounding off into the darkness of the library and calling out for his pack.
With Aether's departure into the shadowy depths of the library, you're left standing in the dim light, a whirlwind of emotions struggling for dominance in your mind. The door to your room, with its sturdy padlock and thick oaken slabs of wood, now seems like a shield between the known and the unknown, between safety and the thrilling, yet unsettling world that Aether disappeared into— a world that you know less about than you thought.
You retreat to your room after another moment, the sound of the Ghouls' distant chatter echoing in your ears, their language foreign yet oddly familiar. The heavy door closes behind you with a reassuring thud, sealing you in for the night with the creature comforts that were provided for you. The room, with its comfortable bed and personal altar, feels more like a refuge now than ever.
Lying in bed once more, you replay the night's events in your mind. Aether's presence, his laughter, the way he looked at you – it all stirs something deep within you. The warmth in your gut, the flutter in your heart – these feelings are new, unexpected. Why now? Why him? You’re here to do a job, aren’t you? Does part of your archival duties include studying and notarizing the Ghouls? Maybe, if you ask Papa, it could…

on the entymology of the Liyue Qixing 璃月七星 & its links to astrology
The naming of Liyue's ruling body, the 璃月七星 / "Seven Stars of Liyue", has links to Chinese astrology and the types of characters in the Qixing.
Theoretically, with these links, we can speculate on the characteristics & possible roles of the unrevealed members of the Qixing. This is based on the 紫微斗數 (Zǐwēi dòushù), a form of fortune-telling in China.
The Ziwei Doushu is part of the study of destiny in China (命学Mìng xué), which is closely intertwined with the stars. In this form of fortune-telling, your whole life and future can be read in the stars. It's drawn in a circle like Mona's astrology readings:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it's probably one of the inspirations for the concept of how “your fate is written in the stars of Teyvat” in Genshin.
Historically astrologers have always played a big role in imperial courts, reading the fate of the emperor in the stars and predicting his successor.
Each of the Qixing titles are named after individual stars in the Big Dipper/北斗(Běidǒu), and bear a different name in ancient Chinese astrology, referred to as a "patron star". Of note, the Qixing's patron stars are all within the 14 major stars which are used to perform readings (except Tianquan & Tianji). Many of these stars symbolise wealth, so I won’t touch on money too much. We alrea dy know the Qixing are the cream of the crop, after all.
In the Ziwei Doushu, the stars of the Big Dipper and the Sagittarius constellation are used to form 144 permutations of natal charts, or birth charts. It's since increased as stars from the BaZi and other astrology practices were implemented into the Ziwei Doushu as well.
The North Star is known as the Emperor Star, and all the stars are "subjects" led by the "emperor". The constellations are viewed as a kingdom, with each constellation performing a role in the empire in service to the emperor.
Different texts represent the Beidou differently, but it has been called the "chariot on which the emperor rides", and that it sits above the Kunlun Mountains (where gods are said to live).
An excerpt from the book The Astromonical Chronicles compiled by Ma Xu describes what concept each star represents in the constellation:
《晋书·天文志》记载,枢为天,璇为地,玑为人,权为时,衡为音,开阳为律,摇光为星。
Tianshu: sky
Tianxuan: land
Tianji: human
Tianquan: time
Yuheng: sound
Kaiyang: rhythm
Yaoguang: star
The arched polar area where the individual stars of the Qixing is located is the political center of the heavenly society.
It is located close to the 天理 [tiānlǐ]: divine justice, or it can also be loosely translated as (天)heavenly (理)principles.
Tumblr media
Let's zoom in a little on Beidou:
Tumblr media
Notice that the stars located in a arch-formation around the heavenly principles are the dimmest stars: Tianquan, Tianji, Tianxuan and Tianxuan. They are also the stars with the word 天(sky, heavenly) in them.
As we'll see later, these four stars handle more covert/strategic affairs in the speculated structure of the Qixing, while the Yaoguang, Yuheng and Kaiyang appear to fill more executive/operational roles.
Let's start with the stars we already know - Tianquan and Yuheng.
天权 [tiān quán]
Patron star: 文曲星 [wén qǔ xīng], lit.”cultural song”
The wenqu star is associated with 天理 [tiānlǐ]: divine justice, or it can also be loosely translated as (天)heavenly (理)principles.
The star is associated with wisdom, intelligence, elegance and knowledge. Culture, being a long-lasting part of society, could be loosely read to reflect Ningguang’s desire to leave a legacy.
The Tianquan is 1 of 2 stars which is not in the 14 major stars of the Ziwei Doushu. Instead, the Wenqu star is one of the six lucky stars that represent luck in your life, which could be a nod to how Ningguang is not your typical Qixing candidate, since she rose to the position through hard work. Or, it could signify that the position of Tianquan can be fulfilled by any qualified person.
玉衡 [yù héng]
Patron star: 廉贞星 [lián zhēn xīng], which can be loosely translated as "integrity, faithfulness"
The lianzhen star is associated with 公关 gōngguān = public relations. This star is stubborn and persistent, representing change and variation, making it difficult to pin down. It's also associated with due diligence, novel thinking and career performance.
Keqing's role of land management seems to differ slightly from the patron star's reputation, although you could take a leap and posit that estate and livelihood management would require a lot of PR to balance people’s needs.
However, the overall personality type the patron star represents seems to fit Keqing's core traits well.
天枢 [tiān shū]
Patron star: 贪狼星 [Tān láng xīng] lit. “Wolf Star”
The tanlang star is associated with multiple masks, guises, and being clever, shrewd. With this star, disasters and happiness rise and fall, intertwined with each other. Often, the individual born under this star is affable and able to build friendships very quickly.
We don't know too much about Uncle Tian's work as the Tianshu beyond security and intelligence, but we do know he did consider Yelan as a potential successor, and she is known for her many guises and shrewdness.
Based on these 3, which seem to be generally accurate to the characters in their roles, we can guess that the other Qixing members would have these characteristics:
天璇 [Tiān xuán]
Patron star: 巨门星 [Jù mén xīng] lit. “giant gate”
The jumen star represents 暗 [àn] = secrets, and 明爭暗鬥 [míngzhēng'àndòu] = both open and covert strife. It was once known as the Dark Star. People of this star are unsociable.
The Tianshu handles intelligence & security i.e. what is most likely external affairs. The Tianxuan could therefore be his internal affairs counterpart, who handles the Qixing’s private issues. After all, the Tianxuan is a bit like an opposite to the Tianshu, and we might probably never know who the Tianxuan is since the intelligence they work with would be highly confidential based on the patron star.
天玑 [Tiān jī]
Patron star: 禄存星 [Lù cún ] closest lit. “keep good fortune”
This star signifies honour, rank, and life. It has the ability to remove adversity and distress, and interestingly, is able to mediate the negative energies the Yuheng star might bring.
Perhaps the Tianji is like the treasurer of the Qixing. Someone needs to manage the government budget, and this star is very strongly associated with wealth and financial management.
The Tianji is the other star not in the 14 major stars of the Ziwei Doushu. It’s found within one of the palaces in the Ziwei Doushu’s interpretation of the constellations, but I haven’t found any particular significance on that.
开阳 [kāi yáng]
Patron star: 武曲星 [wǔ qū xīng] closest lit. “martial/fierce song”
Not to be confused with the Tianquan's patron star (wenqu). Wuqu star is a little bit similar to the Wenqu star, both are about decision making and policies, though Wuqu is less cultured and more unsociable.
The Wuqu star also represents analysis of a situation and making clear-headed decisions and also… the 廟堂 [miàotáng] = imperial court.
The Kaiyang would appear to fit a judge role, if there is a court. Given that Yanfei is a lawyer, there is probably some kind of court in the Ministry of Civil Affairs which the Kaiyang would preside over and uphold the law set by the Tianquan.
Due to the similarities between wenqu and wuqu, I'd also speculate that the Kaiyang may be groomed to be the potential successor to the Tianquan, since they both work in law enforcement and I highly doubt they'd allow any rich Tom, Dick or Harry to suddenly manage the laws of Liyue.
摇光 [yáo guāng]
Patron star: 破军星 [pò jūn xīng] lit. “Break the enemy”
Akin to 戰將 zhànjiàng = a war/battle general/commander/leader
Very interesting that this star is all about war and is typically seen as a misfortune. Although Keqing seems to lead the Millelith in crisis from what we see, it could be just because she is a Vision holder.
The Yaoguang is likely in charge of the Millelith and Liyue's military forces overall, from recruitment to training.

message from the scriptwriter of Till the end of the Moon 长月烬明 - 边距何妨
If Changyue Jinming is disassembled, what kind of script is it? It consists of three main lines: the mission of the heroine, the growth of the hero, and the game between gods and demons. The former two are intertwined with each other, and the latter emerges gradually, and finally climbs up the stairs with the audience, overlooking the Three Realms and looking back at the floating life.
(Google Translate with some corrections - very long post but really really interesting and worth a read. apologies for inaccuracies. link to original above.)
Changyue Jinming has come to an end, and it's the screenwriter's turn to be on duty for the main creation and sharing activities. Just for my job, I will chat with you about the adaptation of Changyue Jinming's script, which can be regarded as a belated work report from 2021.
1. All nutrition comes from the soil: classical culture and oriental mythology
Long before the birth of the Changyue Jinming project, the audience's complaints about xianxia characters were enough to (fill a channel?). Year after year, colleagues are working on the Xianxia project day and night, and the goal everyone is striving for is "different". This is also the most difficult problem that Changyue faced at the beginning. One foot of fertile soil supports one inch of seedlings. So the script went back, looking for the place of growth in the classics.
Our country has an extremely rich tradition of myths and ghosts, and it has its own style from time to time. Based on the original work (novel), the adaptation finally chose classical mythology as the nourishing soil. They are rich and intense, tragic and magnificent, full of primitive vitality, and an irresistible sense of destiny. This is the world that the script adaptation wants to build.
With soil, all details can grow naturally, such as:
In the first act of the story, the Demon God appears. How should the demons in the fairy world appear? Maybe he can fly, he can blink, or he can punch a mountain first. On a night when pulling my hair out, the document was typed and deleted, and finally, "In the purple sky, six black dragons drove a chariot, breaking through the clouds and passing by the sun. Jeweled bells at the four corners of the chariot swayed, The sound spreads ten miles", covered by the curtain, blown away by the wind, revealing the true face of the devil.
In this way, the demon god appeared on the stage with the dragon driving the chariot and riding the wind and breaking the clouds. The script wants to use the image of "Dragon Driving" to give the demon god the mystery of ancient times and the flavor of Chu Ci (Songs of Chu, a book of ancient poetry).
Tumblr media
As for the image of Sangjiu, although it is a clam in terms of species setting, in the script adaptation, her image and aesthetic characteristics actually come from the dragon girl and the jiaoren (mermaid like creature). In classical culture, the images of Dragon Girls are constantly changing. They are heterogeneous, lower than the gods of the water tribe. They once offered pearls to the gods and were enlightened by the gods. They initially had the wildness of animals, and gradually evolved with the creation of classical literature to become beautiful, smart, and passionate.
Sang Jiu is exactly such an image. She is innocent and sentimental, but also has the vigilance of a small animal. She is not only a soft princess who holds her face up to the God of War, but also a vigorous girl with a longbow on her back and kills magic soldiers. During the days and nights when she married, like a jiaoren weeping pearl tears, she gathers them every night, tasting the bitterness of love.
The prop "mirror of the past" in the novel is adapted into the eyes of the god Jize in the script. The transformation of gods into things after death is one of the traditions of Chinese mythology. Just like those myths we have been familiar with since childhood, after Pangu died, his left eye was the sun and his right eye was the moon. Kuafu chased the sun and died, and his walking stick fell to the ground and turned into a peach forest. The ancients believed that when a tiger died, its eyes fell to the ground and turned into amber (tiger soul). When the divine body fell, Jize's gentle gaze turned into a divine mirror, illuminating the last hope with his spirit.
After all the creatures in the Mo River were slaughtered, Sang Jiu pulled out the water suppressing stone in the center of the river in extreme grief and indignation. "The water town stone, which is extremely heavy, rises from the bottom of the river. For a moment, the mud and sand in the river rolled, and the sand flew away." Sang Jiu turned the water suppressing stone into a sharp sword, killing Shangqing God Realm. It is remade into the (ocean god's needle, another name for Sun Wukong's golden cudgel).
Another example is the Tianzhu (Celestial Pillar) supporting the heaven and the earth, which is actually a complex of images such as Buzhou Mountain and wood. The script does not directly copy their names, but everyone will naturally think that this is the power of convention. The Spring Water Throwing Festival draws on traditional elements such as Nuo Opera and Tournament of the Gods.
2. Composition of the World: Human World, God Realm and Immortal Gate
The story of Changyue Jinming spans three distinct sections: the human world, the divine world, and the immortal's realm. Simply running the map will obviously split the story, so geography and time are used to weave them together in the adaptation of the script.
Geographically, the gods once lived around the Tianzhu, but now it is in ruins. The fairy gate is located in the human world, and practitioners have close contacts with ordinary people.
(1) The world of mortals
What is the human world like?
First of all, in terms of setting, it has a "king" and no "emperor". It must be set before the Qin Dynasty. The kingdom is divided, but the hearts of the people still yearn for unity. But it didn't land in any real dynasty or country, which is the inevitable result of fictional dramas. Secondly, its atmosphere and details must be separated from real life. It must have an ancient style and a floating mythological flavor. Therefore, the world view of the world is taken from a fictional classical myth:
In this world, there are demons, warlocks, magic weapons, and tyrants. There are princes and grandsons who practiced down the mountain, there are blood boiled in a cauldron, and there are prophecies about the return of destiny. There are immortals who fall into the mortal world and wander around the world, and there are magic weapons who leave the faction to help in the battle. The generals use immortal methods to fight against each other. In this world, the reference is the world view of "Investiture of the Gods" that everyone is familiar with.
The role of Pang Yizhi borrows some of Jiang Ziya's symbolic characteristics. They are all uncles who were driven down the mountain to do tasks. Jiang Ziya is confused about life in the world, and Pang Yizhi is also unreliable and cute. They are proficient in divination and bear a destiny that they don't know. Jiang Ziya was not destined for immortality, and in the end, Pang Yizhi also went to a similar fate.
Among the many characters who abandoned business and invested Zhou in the Romance of the Gods, Huang Feihu is the one who is most similar to Ye Qingyu. They are all relatives of the king, the town country and the Zhu country. Both have a father who is a veteran of the town. In the end, he was forced to have no choice but to defect to his former enemy with his family.
The contrast in the Romance of the Gods is the two princes Yin Jiao and Yin Hong. They once entered the mountain gate to practice, received advice, and obtained magic weapons, but they chose to be loyal to their father, King Zhou, and eventually died. Although Fengshen Yanyi has a critical attitude towards the second son, the script wants to use a more neutral attitude to praise and regret Xiao Lin's life choices. Camellia fell to the ground and fell into the mud, how can one not regret it?
In this world, the atmosphere of myth is like a shadow, just like the song sung by the crow and the news from afar that it relays. The smoke from the witch doctor's burning enveloped the palace, and the shadow of the demon lingered in the market.
In the capitals of Jing and Sheng, huge wreckage can be seen faintly in the distance. In the garden of King Jing’s Palace, there is a closer piece that was tied to a swing. The fragments that fell into the world, the traces of gods are everywhere. I saw some netizens asking what it is, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t see what it is. This weird spectacle itself has formed the atmosphere of this world and isolated it from the real history.
(2) The place of the gods
The fragments of Tianzhu are the hardware connection between the human world and the god world, and the dream of Prajna (aka Bo're) Floating Life is the software connection between the current human world and the god world ten thousand years ago.
The Prajna Floating Life narrated in the novel has only five episodes in the script, and it has to be divided into two parts with clear boundaries: the part of the battle between gods and demons, which bears a large amount of information and logic chains serving the whole play, Ming Ye's love story with Sangjiu has to be compressed into another part and cannot be unfolded, so the script is treated as a three-act drama structure, making it present the style of a short fable, and acting for the four audiences who enter the play.
The flavor of this ephemeral world, on the one hand, is composed of countless light and small fragments, such as the Qingluan (Blue Luan bird) car, the flying dance, and the fairy fruit tree. On the other hand, it is supported by the god system.
In classical mythology, gods present different styles, for example, the familiar job-type gods that constitute the management system of heaven, such as the Jade Emperor, the Queen Mother, the Three Officials, the God of Wealth, and the Elder Moon. There are also natural gods, such as Jumang, the god of wood, Gonggong, the god of water, Zhurong, the god of fire, Wangshu, the god of the moon, and Xihe, the god of the sun. The adaptation of the script chose the latter system, utilized their cultural elements, and at the same time avoided the names of real myths, and constructed twelve gods for the ShengQing realm.
The reason for choosing the latter is that the style requires a more distinct sense of antiquity from the gods and a more primitive source of power. They have the existence form of matter, natural phenomenon, and matter movement. Except God of War. Compared with other gods, this special position changes faster. If you are a god by battle, you will often die in battle. In terms of seniority, Ming Ye, who came to Shangqing alone from the East China Sea and was ordered in danger, is still a young junior in the eyes of his colleagues, but the duty is that the God of War must charge forward and die. The twelve gods finally died. They came from nature, and returned to nature. Gods are supposed to be ruthless, but when they sacrifice, they are compassionate. It is indescribable that a ruthless god, who was supposed to live the same life as the heaven and earth, died for the short-lived sentient beings.
As for the setting of the demon god, the adaptation of the script liberates it from the framework of "a villain". It has no ambition, no desire, no likes and dislikes, no sorrow and joy, and it is not even a living body, but some kind of energy, or universal law. If all living beings in the three realms are immortal, there will be endless sorrow, resentment and anger. The accumulation of misery for hundreds of millions of living beings will take the form of demons and gods, which is irreversible. It's like a sick body with malignant sores, bright and festering. Even if the bones are scraped and dug away, it will only remove the incarnation of the appearance. The Demon God is like an invisible cloud, always floating over the world, and no one knows whether it will appear next time ten thousand years later or tomorrow.
In the battle of gods and demons, in order to avoid fighting all over the world without any support, the script delimits the battlefield in front of the Tianzhu. At this moment, the whole world is embodied as this huge divine pillar behind him. If the pillar exists, the world will be safe, and if the pillar falls, the world will be destroyed. The furious demon god showed his wrathful appearance, like (the myth of) Gonggong crashing into Buzhou Mountain and smashing the Tianzhu. The god perishes, turns into a war halberd, and supports the world again.
After the fall of the gods, in fact, an era has come to an irretrievable end, and even if Ming Ye is alive, he is powerless to change it. The essence of the contradiction between Teng Snake-Tianhuan and Ming Ye-Sangjiu is the reshuffle of power after the Great War. When the era of gods came to an end, the aristocratic forces Teng Snake immediately launched a counterattack. (?)

(3) Between man and God
After the Great War between the gods and demons, the collapsed pillars of heaven scattered across the world, becoming spiritual veins everywhere, and mortals gathered to practice, and fairy gates gradually emerged. The gate of immortality is outside the world of mortals, and the cultivators themselves come from the world. They are both troubled by the seven emotions and six desires, birth, old age, sickness and death, and they also have the method of detachment. Trekking from the mortal world to the immortal road is for practice.
Hengyang Sect and Xiaoyao Sect are the two sects where the protagonist belongs. In the adaptation of the script, Hengyangzong was endowed with some Mohist spirit. They have strict discipline, and they practice hard in the sect; they pay attention to the hardships of the world, and their disciples take turns going down the mountain to exorcise evil spirits;
At the beginning of the story, the Xiaoyao Sect was in a hurry, and the Hengyang Sect went up to the head and down to Li Susu, the younger junior sister, to rush to the rescue. But when the demon god came to Hengyang Sect, knowing that the strength of the two sides was extremely different, the disciples of Hengyang Sect still lined up neatly, "The disciples of Hengyang Sect are guarding the Mingwu Hall today, the sect will not stop, and the barrier will not be broken!" Disciple's spiritual inheritance of "go through the water and die, never die".
The spirit of Zongmen and the teachings of Qu Xuanzi's love deeply influenced Li Susu, not only made her " virtuous", upright and bright, and always insisted on kindness, but also made her persevere like iron and never give up an inch, even if her heart was broken and her body was crushed. Broken Soul also has to complete the task. Even in the deepest darkness, in the most painful despair, when all previous efforts have been abandoned and the heart is ashamed, I still choose responsibility.
The Xiaoyao School, on the other hand, infused more of Zhuangzi's spirit, and the whole school set the goal of being free and contented in life. When Hengyang Sect disciples study by themselves from five to nine, they are doing BBQ; when Hengyang Sect disciples are doing tasks, they are fighting Demon God Killer; They are all waiting for the occasional sun to come out and quickly dry the quilt and pants.
Cang Jiumin, who was blinded by happy education, finally got rid of the heavy shackles that could not be worn away by five hundred years of nether water, "Forget about things outside, and forget about yourself inside". He walked forward under the trust and protection of Master, and the clock stopped in his heart and finally started to turn again. Saving people with the God-killing Crossbow was a rehearsal of self-reflection, and after refining the Huxin Lin, Tantai Jin completely reconciled with himself, "Today I know that I am me", from a single thought of a god and a devil to a body of a god and a devil. Since then, all the coercion and temptation of monsters and the lobbying of ancient demon gods have lost their magical power. The fate of the world has thus changed.
Xiaoyaozong is shrouded in clouds and mists all year round, and the sun is not visible, but the junior brother Cang Jiumin is here to push through the clouds and mists, and suddenly see the light. Zhuangzi's " Heaven, earth and I were born side by side, and all things are one with me" is the state of the gods in the play.
3. Fate and Breaking Fate
The three magic weapons that appeared in the original work: Mirror of the Past, Qingshihua倾世花 (World overturning flower/jade), and Huxinlin护心麟 (dragonheart shield), their names are kept in the script, but their origin and function have been adapted. They constitute three intertwined long and short lines, connecting the past, present and future destiny.
In the catastrophe of annihilation, Li Susu was brought back five hundred years ago by the mirror of the past. She struggled to find Jize and witnessed the moment when Jize fell and transformed into the mirror of the past. Fate drew a circle at this moment, she found him, witnessed his death, and his death sent her to him.
Sang Jiu is enchanted, and the Tu Jin Teng Snake Clan refines the world-famous jade. Tantai Jin chose it because of the despair of quenching thirst by drinking poison, while Li Susu replaced it because of her unrelenting protection, and the inevitable fate of death will connect the two closely, just like Ming Ye and Sang who engraved each other with regret in Prajna Floating Life liquor. In the end, Li Susu turned the world-overturning jade, which was originally an evil thing, into divine marrow, and replaced Tantai Jin's evil bone with it.
And Hu Xinlin, originally from Ming Ye's heart to save the world, shaped the Buzhao Mountain full of fairy spirit, gave birth to the Xiaoyao Sect, and was brought to the world by Pang Yizhi, a disciple of the Xiaoyao Sect. After changing hands several times, he was finally rescued on the wedding night. They killed Tantai Jin, let him come to Xiaoyaozong alive, and reshaped Hu Xinlin.
Behind the three artifacts are the eyes of Ming Ye, Sang Jiu, and Jize who have been watching silently through thousands of years.
In addition to magic weapons and artifacts, the script runs through a large number of prophetic plots, either solemnly revealed, or unintentionally joked, and finally confirmed one by one in fate. The sense of fate is creepy, but the adaptation of the play spends effort to create this sense of fate, not to promote fatalism, but just the opposite. The Three Realms are boundless, all living beings are insignificant, and a tragic fate looms before your eyes, even the gods who know everything cannot be shaken. The more indestructible and unpredictable fate is, the more shocking it will be to violate it and break it.
The old Clam King told little Sangjiu a short story about saving pigeons by cutting their flesh. It is intense, bloody and pure, just like the fate of the characters in the play. No one knows how much it will cost to get back a little pigeon. When the dove flies lightly with destiny, the scale of life and death rises, hypocrisy does not exist, only piety remains, cowardice dissipates, only bravery, hypocrisy is annihilated, holiness appears, and everything in the world is mirrored before.
Sang Jiu exhausted all her flesh and blood, and finally lost her soul, regretting for thousands of years. Mingye exhausted his cultivation base and lifespan, and his spirit disappeared into pieces and turned into dust and smoke. Then, the pigeon fluttered out of Prajna Floating Life and flew towards Li Susu and Tantai Jin.
In the first half of his life, Tantai Jin desperately wanted to live. His "living" was a life that even the bottom of Maslow's pyramid could not have. He had nothing but pain. For such a miserable life, death was a complete relief, and he almost relied on animal instinct to struggle and refuse. However, from the perspective of the audience, it can be clearly seen that his body and mind have reached their limits, like a person who has already stood on the edge of the roof, and a gust of wind can blow him down the abyss.
Then Li Susu came and pulled him back from the brink, again and again. If she was cowardly, she would not have come here at all; if she was partial, Tantai Jin would have been abandoned from the very beginning. If she has justice but no kindness, if she has kindness but no justice, the mission will fail.
It's like a small game where there are many options to break through. Even the gods don't know how many questions are left, where is the correct answer, can't be skipped, there is no shortcut, and the game over is a wrong step. Li Susu has no strategies or spoilers. Her conscience prevents her from attacking the innocent Tantai Jin, and her responsibility forces her to carry out the plan to the end. She can only stumble and fear in the dilemma of justice and righteousness. Dragging the little devil forward. Keep going forward, even if you are desperate, even if you are happy, even if you are completely desperate.
Until the end of the chapter on the human world, she was just the little girl who ventured into the world alone, the youngest junior sister of the Hengyang Sect. The Goddess bloodline did not give her supernatural strength, racial advantages, or even the golden fingers that all the protagonists have, but only gave her an extremely difficult road and a painful fate. And all of this, no matter it was five hundred years ago or five hundred years later, she must keep her mouth shut. Five hundred years ago, she had no one to talk to. When she returned to the fairy gate, it seemed as if she woke up from a dream. Li Susu, a disciple of the fairy gate, was no longer an innocent girl. Secretly, to bear the pain of heartburn alone.
In Susu's chest, there is a heart of iron stone that is always optimistic. This iron stone is both an epee and a strong shield, protecting the sweetheart but must kill him. Until the final chapter, when the God-slaying Crossbow was aimed at the fairy gate again, she couldn't forget her love for Tantai Jin, struggling and hesitantly unable to ascend. And after becoming a god in Nirvana, knowing everything, and communicating with his lover, there is only one way to go before him, which is to become an accomplice of his lover's suicide.
If everything is given, will the gods turn back?
Tantai Jin in the human world chapter may be the person who is farthest from the gods in this world. At least Susu knew where the direction was, while Tantai Jin didn't know anything.
He didn't know why he killed his mother, why he made others fear him, why he couldn't catch it all, and dissipated in his hands when he caught it. He didn't know that his tears would turn into bullets that shot him, and he didn't even understand what it was when the nail hit. The greater pain was that he knew all about it later. Li Susu's love is a thread that pulls him up from the mud and makes him fall back, carries him through the sea of suffering and traps both of them. When he first came to this world, Tantai Jin was like a chess piece. Above the clouds that he could not know and touch, there was a giant hand of the game of gods and demons hidden, but when this chess piece miraculously broke free from the chessboard and fell to pieces... Afterwards, Tantai Jin became the chess player. He possessed the power enough to manipulate the fate of the world, and calmly chose the ending for himself and for the four continents and three realms.
For Tantai Jin, the world is a dark swamp with no roads, it is easy to turn into a demon, but he didn't. He tried his best to fight against his DNA, trying to climb out of bad luck, and finally found that he was bad luck itself, and he had to give up his flesh and blood.
When Tantai Jin and Li Susu realized this, the pigeons flew over. Giving up flesh and blood is not madness, but supreme mercy. This game of the brave cannot be passed without being pure and sincere. Tantai Jin and Li Susu are each other's white doves, and countless living beings in the three worlds and four continents are all carried on the feathers of the doves.
So the little pigeon decided to smash the indestructible destiny.
Four, and the last few sentences
If Changyue Jinming is disassembled, what kind of script is it?
It consists of three main lines: the mission of the heroine, the growth of the hero, and the game between gods and demons. The former two are intertwined with each other, and the latter emerges gradually, and finally climbs up the stairs with the audience, overlooking the Three Realms and looking back at the floating life.
It is composed of many imperfect characters: in the rules of idol drama creation, soft and flawless characters are safer and more popular, but multi-faceted characters belong to this story and live up to the due drama space. These facets are bright and dark, each mirroring other aspects of the character himself as well as other characters.
Each of its episodes consists of 15-20 small plot points and 2-4 events. Every 2 episodes there is a fluctuation in plot, emotion or character relationship, and every 5 episodes will cross a stage, which is oversaturated The plot may break due to information loss in subsequent productions, but it is enough to guarantee roller coaster ups and downs.
It does not say that love can save everything. In the whole story, love is the most fragile thing that is always abandoned, but it is precious because of its fragility and immortal because of its ephemerality.
It is not about the victory of gods defeating demons, nor the victory of a certain protagonist. It is about many people who sacrificed their lives, devoted their wisdom, and devoted themselves to it regardless of the outcome. In the end, the river was diverted and the fate of the world changed.
It is a work with many shortcomings and many regrets. From scratch, all participants have tried their best, worked hard, and taken risks, and perhaps left a little "different".
Writing scripts is a very lonely job. Most of the time, hard work does not mean rewarding, but film and television creation as a whole is like a relay race. The author of the original author hands the first baton to the screenwriter. The baton was handed over to the director, actors, art, costumes... After finishing, the baton was handed over to editing, special effects, and post-production. Every great creation is equally important. Everyone handed over the club with all their energy, and ran forward exhausted, competing for the final tacit understanding and unpredictable luck. And this last stick is given to the audience. I have always felt that audience discussions, judgments, and secondary creations are not feedback from film and television works, but a part of creation, the one that lasts the longest. In the script, there are also some deliberately vague plots left for the audience to characterize, such as the farewell between Sang Jiu and Tantai Jin.
Since Changyue started broadcasting, I have followed up the discussions and criticisms of each episode. It is a very precious opportunity to go back from the last stick to the beginning. I have learned a lot by reflecting on the script and looking for the crux.
It is a great honor to be able to participate in this creation with all of you.

I have a non-binary friend, who is not Jewish, tell me that I have no place to criticize them for playing the game because I’m cis. They said that as a trans person HP has always been there safe and happy place and they practice “death of the artist”. Where do I even start with them?
well for one, jkr is not dead. she is very much alive and using the money from her franchise to lobby for anti trans legislation in the uk
I think you should explain to your friend what "death of the artist" actually means. for example, being into lovecraftian horror and cthulu stuff is okay, because even though hp lovecraft was a huge racist, he's dead and not making any money off of his work anymore. plus, the core themes of his work such as cosmic horror and the feelings of total helplessness and incomprehensiblity of giant monsters doesn't explicitly contain racist views.
hairy potty, on the other hand, is all about how the wizard nazis are controlling the government, and it's up to the white savior chosen one magical destiny baby to save the day. and also how anyone, even the incel wizard nazi, can be redeemed. and also how the only thing that matters is your family, and if you were born in the "wrong" family, you deserve to suffer.
even if jkr was dead, the bigotry in the books is so intertwined with the narrative that it's impossible to separate the two.
so no. you can't claim "death of the artist" for two reasons. 1) she's still alive, and 2) the bigotry is intrinsic to the narrative
and that's just the books. the new movies and the games have far worse bigotry, from what I hear.

NAKED - 5: The Occurrence and Development of Events by Chance in a Happy or Beneficial Way [PART 1].
Oh No! by Mindy Gledhill [Pocketful of Poetry]
[Music is a very big part of my life and I’m MOSTLY INCAPABLE of writing without music, so I just thought I'd share what I am listening to while writing this]
–🐺–🐺–🐺–
On November 21, 2022, when JK safely returned to South Korea from Qatar, I first, and foremost, thanked whatever Superior Being is out there like I always do whenever someone I care about gets on a plane, including myself. Then, I awkwardly smiled at myself accepting the fact that:
Tumblr media
Yup. We wait. We wait because Jikook have this interesting pattern, from circa 2019, where they go dead silent whenever they are at a close radius from each other, but start becoming very social and SM savvy when apart. And yes, the company, and even the members, will upload videos, pictures, etc, with them in it, together or individually, almost as if to say “they are alive and well!”; but not them.
Jikook will not upload anything, when they are at a close radius. Even JK, who likes to interact with his members on IG, will do so, but will not interact with ARMY or any non-band related activity. At least not that I’ve noticed. But that’s just my own observation, don’t mind me. Anyways, because I’ve had a shitty week and I seemed to be painfully missing them, I decided to sit my ass down, and between Netflix shows, life and unhealthy snacking, I began to write a “Story”.
A peculiar story of two ordinary, but not so ordinary, young men. An ongoing story collecting unbelievably cute, and sometimes rather extraordinary, facts. A based-on-real-facts story, very much built on the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way, otherwise also known as; Serendipity.
Hence, as every respectable book, I'll begin with providing you with the following table of contents:
[PROLOGUE] - 35.1796°N, 129.0756°E
[CHAPTER 1] - Lucky Number 13
[CHAPTER 2] - The Dancer who could Sing & The Singer who could Dance
[CHAPTER 3] - Just Let Me Love You … Please Love Me
[END OF MY STORY] - Thinking. Loving. Clicking.
Great! So Let's start now, shall we?
Tumblr media
・35.1796°N, 129.0756°E
The planet is Earth, the coordinates are 35ish degrees North, 129ish degrees East, and the dates are two: October 13, 1995 and September 1, 1997. During these two particular sets of dates, two boys, who’s destinies would be almost magically intertwined, were born. Because of them and five others, life would never be the same for many citizens on planet Earth, but even more specifically, for the boys themselves.
Now, even though both families had quite different backgrounds and life scenarios, coincidentally, they raised the boys within environments that were very loving and which fostered and encouraged freedom of expression and self though “one’s self” is very hard to grasp at the very beginning stages of your life. Nevertheless, at first glance, the boys grew up to be almost quite the opposite of each other. For example the older boy, Park Jimin (JM), shaped himself into becoming quite versed in plenty of disciplines, on top of becoming a model student. He would also turn out to be an extrovert who didn’t believe in fate.
Tumblr media
On the other hand the younger one, Jeon Jungkook (JK), who also was unbelievably talented and had interest in a plethora of activities, would not find much interest in academics. He’d then be known to be quite the introvert with a deep believe in fate.
Tumblr media
I know what you are thinking 😌… It sounds exactly like the plot of that one guilty pleasure coming-of-age romance we all REALLY love to read/watch maybe secretly, doesn't it? The one where the geeky girl/boy/enby end up with the badass girl/boy/enby after meeting at their worst but deciding to stay together for an unforeseen best. But this is most definitely how this story begins. Coincidence? Fate? Who knows right? Now, if we were to take a step further and imagine them as “complete polar opposites”, Angel & Demons if you may, and mind you, do not be fooled by the intrinsic nature of said beings there’s plenty of devilish angels and goodwilled demons, at this point, you might be wondering:
Tumblr media
How did this ethereal genius 👆🏾manage to cross paths with this underworld prodigy 👇🏾?
Tumblr media
And now back to reality. Basically, how did an extrovert nonbeliever manage to connect with an introvert believer? Well, being that they were born and did live at the same set of coordinates, 35.1796°N, 129.0756°E, also known as Busan, they must have bumped into each other at some point. Right? I mean this would be the obvious “encounter scenario” in this movie genre. Right?
Tumblr media
Wrong..
Eventually, in the Spring of 2011, JK would travel all the way to the capital, Seoul, in order to begin the pursuit of his own dreams, and so would JM, in Spring of 2012, a whole year later. As fate, or chance, would want it, their dream-chasing destination would lead them to the exact same destination: Big Hit Entertainment. There, they would join 5 other talented boys and, unbeknownst to them, would ultimately become one of the biggest group of all time.
Tumblr media
Anyways, let me go ahead and post this, because 1899 is regrettably for all of you HELLA INTERESTING and I really wanna watch a couple of episodes more 😬😬. As for the rest of the chapters, I do believe I want to write it all in the next post (or maybe 2 posts max) and if luck wants it to be so, it might be later on today! But I won’t let you wait for too long at least I’ll try not to.
So for now, I just saw that Taekook's RUN BTS challenge has just been uploaded, so let's go and enjoy that! (... even in the darkness of it all, Tae looks like a snacc NGL).
Always respectfully yours 🫰🏾,
Marengo.

Intertwined Destinies
Chapter 7
It wasn’t difficult to connect The Blue Spirit’s earlier escapades with Zuko. Not once one realized there were connections to make.
Iroh does not know when the sneaking began, though he has his suspicions. Ten year old princes don’t go missing for days on end easily. And there’s the  ambiguity surrounding  Azulon’s death and Ursa’s sudden flight. When it started doesn’t truly matter when Zuko will not speak of it.
Shaking off his wandering curiosity, Iroh lets himself be drawn into the singing of an old sea shanty. It helps keep an old man awake, which he will need if he wants to be alert for his nephew’s return later that night.
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Referenced child abuse,   Graphic Depictions of Violence, Strong Language
Characters:   Zuko, Katara, Blue Spirit, Painted Lady, Sokka, Aang, Toph, Suki, Iroh, Kanna, Bumi, Ty Lee, Azula, Jet, Paku, Haru, Tyro, The Boulder, Smeller Bee, Jeong Jeong, Teo, Yue, Yugoda, The Wani Crew, Hei Bai, Arnook, Lieutenant Jee, Other Cast, Original Characters, Zhao

Chapter Preview
Aang and Sokka were off doing whatever it was they wanted to do. Leaving Katara with all the work. She made sure the room they were given was clean as well as everyone’s clothes. The boys were so rough on their clothes! She made sure there was always something to eat when they stopped in briefly before whatever the next thing was. And she tried to prepare them to leave.
Katara wanted to leave Kyoshi Island. Felt in her bones the longer they stayed the more likely they were to be found by that awful Fire Nation prince. She could feel his fire on her heels. The memory of his scowl as he so rudely yanked Gran Gran around sent chills down her spine.

Note
I feel like with the theme of rayla and Callum reconnecting with who they used to be/ reclaiming identity (see rayla and Soren scene where she says not everyone can be saved and callum as the destiny is a book you write yourself), in later seasons do you think they will revisit a choice with a similar situation? Like callum sacrificing the primal stone/magic in context of the cube key for example or rayla risking herself for the red dragon or zym vs viren
It's hard to tell with TDP when they choose to lay down new plot structures or when they tend to do their repeats, but given the Dragon quartet (1x03, 2x07, 3x08, 3x09), repressed feelings duology (1x06, 3x04), and how many allusions, callbacks, and consistencies S4 has with prior seasons, I do think something Big harkening back is likely.
S4 already draws a lot of parallels to Callum's prior mage arc (staring at the moon in 4x01 the way he stared at the sky in 2x04, the framing with holding onto the lightning rod vs not being able to let go of the cube, etc.) and plenty of other character beats and relationships. Even down to Callum's fear/helplessness arc happening after something is willfully shattered by someone else. In post-S2, it was him shattering/sacrificing the primal stone (something he inherited/stole from Claudia and technically from Viren) and in S4, it is Aaravos shattering his own mirror as well - so I am pleased because I thought those two 'shatterings' so to speak would be mirrored, even if I thought it'd be connected to Aaravos actually getting out rather than just being a power move, if you will
I do think there's good grounds for Callum sacrificing the cube (more on that here) and I think we'll definitely see, whether in S5 or later on, Callum and Rayla restore both 1) ultimately agency to each other and 2) and thereby help each other reaffirm and simultaneously create a new identity. Which is what they were doing all throughout s1-s3, accepting each other as is while also transforming in each other into significantly happier, better people. And TDP loves its restoration arcs thematically for other characters too, so I think we'll see that here as well
I think that Rayla's "We can't save everyone" will be tested by Callum being possessed ("my heart for Xadia" call back) because of course, it doesn't matter what he does or what's happening to him, she's always going to fight for him and fight to save him. That's not a massive change from where she is right now, so perhaps saving her parents will also be something that helps heal that part of her, since the way she lost them / how they left her was such a big reason behind her leaving, as well
TLDR; absolutely, yes, I think we'll see the ways Callum and Rayla have changed - for the worse and for the better - tested and reaffirmed next season, be possibly transformed, and as always, incredibly intertwined in their bond with another.

Book 1: The Spectre of Silf
Page 1
In a parallel universe not so far from our own, the world was still reeling from a catastrophe that had shaken it to its core. The chaotic aftermath of the alien squid's destruction of New York was beginning to subside, but the wounds were still fresh. The world had changed irrevocably, and humanity was struggling to adjust to the new normal.
Kalki, a figure of power and mystery, watched the world from her lofty perch in the shadows. Her gaze was distant, her mind lost in a labyrinth of thoughts. Her eyes were a deep black, like two dark pools reflecting the universe's vast expanse. She was both a part of this world and separate from it, a paradox that had been the source of her strength and her torment.
On the streets below, people scurried about their daily lives, oblivious to the watchful eyes that followed their every move. Kalki was not a benevolent guardian, nor was she a vengeful deity. She was a product of her circumstances, a pawn in a cosmic game that was far beyond her understanding.
Suddenly, her gaze shifted, focusing on a solitary figure making its way through the crowd. The figure moved with purpose, its every step echoing with an unseen authority. It was Adrian Veidt, the man known to the world as Ozymandias.
Veidt was a brilliant mind, a visionary who had seen the world's potential and its pitfalls. But he was also a man haunted by his actions. His plan had saved the world from a nuclear war, but at a cost too great to bear. The guilt weighed heavily on him, a constant reminder of the blood on his hands.
As Kalki watched Veidt disappear into the crowd, a chill ran down her spine. She could sense a change in the air, a shift in the cosmic balance. She knew in her heart that a storm was coming, one that would test the mettle of every soul on earth.
But as the first woman, Kalki knew she had a role to play. She was bound by duty and destiny to stand against the coming darkness. And as the world spun on its axis, oblivious to the threats that lurked in the shadows, Kalki prepared for the battle that was to come.
Her journey had just begun. The world may have been in chaos, but in chaos, there was opportunity. And Kalki was determined to seize it. For better or for worse, the fate of the world was now intertwined with hers.
And so, the stage was set for a grand cosmic drama, one that would unravel the very fabric of reality and redefine the course of history. The world was on the brink of a new era, an era that would be shaped by the actions of a single woman.
This was the beginning of Kalki's saga, a tale of power, betrayal, and redemption. It was a story that would echo through the annals of time, a testament to the indomitable spirit of humanity.
The world was watching, and Kalki was ready to play her part.

Book review: Tiger's Curse saga by Colleen Houck
Rating:
#1 Tiger’s Curse - 4⭐
#2 Tiger’s Quest - 4⭐
#3 Tiger’s Voyage - 4⭐
#4 Tiger’s Destiny - 5⭐
#0.5 Tiger’s Promise - 3⭐
#5 Tiger’s Dream - 5⭐
Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck was a series I read in high school and I completely fell in love with the cover. Tigers 😍then i read the premise and discovered that the story involved Indian mythology?! Oh my, I’m in! I fell in love with the story easily!!! I quickly bought the next books (in Portuguese) and finished the series while attending college (in English). Last year, I discovered I hadn’t read the fifth book, Tiger’s Dream. So I quickly reread the series (again) in 2021 and finally read the last book.
A little context is perhaps necessary: two princes, Dhiren and Kishan, are cursed by a villainous man, they are turned to tigers for the rest of their lives and they can only be in human form for 24 minutes. The two brothers go their separate ways, one stays in the jungle and assumes his animal traits, and the other is caught by hunters and brought to the circus. 350 years passed since they were cursed, and in Oregon, Kelsey goes to work in a circus and meets one of the tigers. Her life takes a BIG turn and she finds herself in India helping the tigers to lift the curse with different quests, and also, ends up falling in love.
Although this review is about Tiger’s Dream, I’ll say what I think about the previous books.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though it was the first series from this author and you can see that the writing was a bit flawed, you can also see the evolution throughout the series, it only got better in my opinion. We obviously have romance, and a love triangle (rolling my eyes) that I actually enjoyed. Basically this was twilight for me (and no I didn’t read the twilight (oh no, anyway))! I was happy and sad with the ending. The author dives into unusual settings and throws herself into myths or ancient beliefs to create this amazing and original story. The ancient era and the new are always intertwining which was beautiful to read. The different realms and temples they visited, and the adventures they went through, gosh I wish it had happened to me. It was really amazing!!! Now, as I am more mature (hopefully) and, looking back to the characters, I feel like some of the traits they present make me itch. The males are a bit too possessive or authoritarian sometimes, and Kelsey in the end, her choices didn’t make sense and she was hurting the person who loved her (what a bitch move). But it was one of the greatest journeys.
Tumblr media
The Tiger’s Dream is the resolve we needed for Sohan. His relationship with Anamika was so wholesome to read. They were both hurt by different reasons and together they healed each other. Also, this book answers some questions and explains a lot about what happened throughout the series. The end of the book completely broke me, in a way it was the perfect goodbye to this series (I cried a lot). So, what is left to say is: thank you Colleen.

ATLA rewatch thoughts, Book 1 (eps 19, 20)
Ahh the Book 1 season finale! The season finales are some of my favorite episodes in the series and they never disappoint.
19) Siege of the North, Part 1:
Seeing the soot-stained snow and hearing Sokka explain that black snow always came before the raids on the SWT...brrrrr. It’s so foreboding.
Also, wow Hahn is such a jerk???
The way that Aang covers his head and says “But I’m just one kid” is so heartbreaking 😭 He wasn’t there to help his people fight off the FN, and he’s determined to make a difference this time in the NWT. But he’s faced with the hard reality that he is just one person against hundreds, and his sense of inadequacy and futility is CRUSHING him 😔
The scene where Iroh tells Zuko is like a son to him never fails to make me all emotional 🥺
Also Zuko swimming through the freezing arctic water holes is just plain crazy ok. But Sokka is right - he never gives up 💀
Loving the lore of the moon and the ocean and what they mean for waterbenders and the Water Tribes
20) Siege of the North, Part 2:
The way Katara has tears in her eyes as she worries about Aang and blames herself for losing him to Zuko 🥺
Everything about the spirit world in this ep is so cool!!! Roku, Hei Bai, and of course, Koh
Zuko: “I've always had to struggle and fight and that's made me strong. It's made me who I am.” Iroh echoes this line in the Book 3 finale, but at that point he’s talking about Zuko needing struggle and suffer in the process of understanding and regaining his honor. Here, Zuko only has a very basic understanding of what his struggles mean - and it’s not to make him strong. His struggles do make him who he is, but not in the way he thinks (right now anyway).
I wonder if this episode is the turning point for Iroh, in terms of his role as the Gaang’s antagonist. Iroh is firmly against harming the moon spirit in any way, but Zhao still goes ahead and slaughters the spirit after pretending to let it go. Is this the last straw for Iroh, who can no longer turn a blind eye to the lengths that the FN will go to in order to conquer the world? I’ll see if Book 2 will confirm my hypothesis, but I seem to remember him acting as less of an antagonist in Book 2.
Wow Zhao is totally the reason why Wan Shi Tong doesn’t want humans to use the library’s knowledge for selfish gain. ZHAO ITS ALL YOUR FAULT YOU BASTARD
Aang unwilling to leave Zuko to die in the blizzard - yes, Aang sees value in all life, but he would have been much less willing to save Zuko if it wasn’t for Zuko saving him first in The Blue Spirit
Yue saying that marrying Hahn is her duty, and later sacrificing her life to save the moon spirit is also her duty. How does this fit into the overarching theme of ATLA about shaping your own destiny? Does she use her duty to the moon and the world to escape her duty to marry Hahn? Or is she an example of someone who has a fixed destiny and the option to take another path simply doesn’t exist? Is she a foil to Katara, whose destiny is intertwined with Aang’s, yet she still retains the agency to shape what that destiny looks like?
Aang merging with the ocean spirit and becoming Koizilla gives me the chills every time. EVERY TIME. He’s just one kid, but he’s a very, very powerful kid. I also love this scene because he goes into the Avatar State because of strong emotions - not an uncontrolled, furious rage, but an ancient and profound rage at the unforgivable harm that killing the moon spirit has caused to the world.
Iroh (to Zuko, tongue-in-cheek): “I'm surprised Prince Zuko, surprised that you are not at this moment trying to capture the Avatar.” Zuko: “I’m tired.” Zuko seems dysphoric in this scene, as if his actions to capture the Avatar at all costs is taking something out of him. And he doesn’t know what, and he doesn’t know why he feels so bad, and he wants it to stop. Cognitive dissonance, perhaps? Maybe he’s even questioning himself: Is this all worth it? But what other choice does he have?
The scene with Aang looking out over the water, and then he realizes Katara is standing behind him, and they exchange a look and hug each other because they both need comfort - THIS IS WHEN I STARTED SHIPPING KATAANG!!! They’ve been through so much, they’re picking up the pieces after the battle, and they just need each other. They’re still just friends, but their bond has become so much deeper here and UGH I LOVE IT
