Based on this ask from @justlulu : Hey, I LOVE your dark content 🩷 I was wondering if you write for Javi Pena too, and also if you take requests?
I do take requests!! Thank you for your kind words. This is my first Javier post. Please comment and let me know what ya’ll think! 🤍
You wanted his huge hands to pull you up to his mouth, light you on fire and suck whatever he needed from you. You’d burn for him, one look in your direction and you were sure.
°:. *₊ ° . ° .• ♡ °:. *₊ ° *₊.• ♡ °:. *₊ ° . ° .• ♡ °:. *₊ ° *
The store’s bell rings as the door opens, letting in more of the unforgiving summer air. Along with it comes a broad figure, cast in the shadow from the awning. A quaint “buenas,” was directed towards the register as the fluorescent lights flickered, taking him in too. The artificial glow on his sweat-covered skin dropped down the collar of his shirt. It was a darker pink, unbuttoned and covered in his swelter. Leather jacket atop.
You knew what he was right away. In the way he walked, scanned the room before even stepping two feet inside of it. This town was full of them. You knew who he was a few moments after. He turns towards you, eyes hidden behind yellow aviators. They were one of three prominent features gracing his face, the others being his nose and neatly trimmed mustache. Each guided his presence with a dignified assurance, leaving an indelible mark on anyone fortunate enough to gaze upon his countenance.
In other words, he was fucking beautiful. And he was fucking delusional if he thought the Ray Bans weren’t going to set him apart from the general public. They were his staple and they screamed, “I’m probably a fucking DEA agent.”
You’d heard of him too, Javier. Or Peña, in the stories your dad told you. “You could never tell anyone these things mi vida, I tell them to you because I want you to be safe while we’re here.” You’d spent too many times looking at the pictures on his desk, the ones he had put in front of you stating, “puedes confiar en estos hombres si lo necesitas.”
“You can trust these men if you need to.” Is that so? Since when have you been able to trust any man? Especially ones who look like that in a pair of fitted blue jeans. Especially ones who take you from everything you know and move you to a different country in order to ‘make sure you’re protected’.
The store was mostly empty besides you- and now him. His presence was heavy, not easy to ignore. He looked too pretty- and he looked like your next game piece.
His cologne immediately filled the air and was followed by what an entire pack of cigarettes must smell like. You wanted his huge hands to pull you up to his mouth, light you on fire and suck whatever he needed from you. You’d burn for him, one look in your direction and you were sure.
Javier must have felt you eating him up and you blush, feigning casual interest in the snacks in front of you. But he smirks as his lips part, catching you starring. “No he visto a nadie tan hermosa como tú en mucho tiempo.” Fuck.
He was in front of you, having already looked you up and down as he walked towards you. What a dog.
“I’m sorry?”
“Ah,” he chuckled, looking around. “You speak English.”
“I do.” At least you used to, before he spoke to you and you had to crane your neck upwards to meet his eyes. He had taken his sunglasses off at some point, you were too enamored by his waist to see much else.
“I said, ‘I haven’t seen anyone so beautiful in so long.’”
He swiped his thick thumb across his pouting lips while he waited for your response. That usually works, huh?
It did.
He was flirting with his bosses daughter. He had absolutely no idea who you were, where you were going after this. The power that you yielded, simply from the last name you held. You quietly laughed. He must think you’re full of information, by how hard he’s trying. Why wouldn’t you want to be full of him? He was trying to get something from you.
His demeanor shifted as he waited for a response. Not towards embarrassment, he doesn’t seem the type. More so towards, ‘Fuck. Maybe I came on a little too strong.”
You open your mouth, contemplating what to say next as your eyes return to his. A spark of something…lust? Recognition? No.
His gaze flickers before he turns his attention back to the snacks. He knows that this is the most important part of the conversation.
“I was thinking the same when I saw you walk through that door.” You surprised him. He sat down the crumpled bag and looked back at you.
“Is that so?” He started, but you interrupted, not wanting him to keep the conversation going and figure who you were, how young you were, that you weren’t worth a shit when it came to flirting. That you weren’t someone who couldn’t be an informant.
“Can I have one of those?” You pointed towards his crotch, meaning his back pocket where his tattered box of cigarettes sat against his ass. You watched as his smile spread, laughing beneath the deep breath he takes as he pulls them out and smacks them flat against his wide palm. He picks one and hands it to you.
He lowers his voice as he steps even closer. “You can have whatever you want, conejita. Let’s take this outside.”
You looked down at his fingers and imagined what they were capable of, how long they were. All of the spots inside of you that they could caress. You took the cigarette and looked into him.
“Let’s.”
You imagined Javier liked to keep his outside of work activities on the low. His dirty little secrets were easier to keep when he hid them behind the facade of work. Of doing good for the world. They also happened to do well with his cock. You wondered if he paid them, too.
Of course he does. He’s a gentleman. ‘Someone to rely on’.
You put it between your lips as he dug in his other pocket for his lighter. “How can you fit anything in those? Let alone find anything.”
“Hey, these jeans don’t look good on just anybody, baby.”
Baby.
You huff and he falls back, scrunching his eyebrows towards the setting sun as he lights his own cigarette, first. What a gentleman. The fine lines of his face soften after he takes a long hit.
His hands ghost your face as the click of the lighter ignites and the fire burns closely to your face.
“What’s your name, anyways?” You ask, pulling in the burn.
“Peña.”
“Do you have a first name? Or is the last one just cooler?” He smirks.
Both of you sat in silence for a moment, looking around the street at the children playing.
“S’not too safe for you out here right now.”
“Why’s that?”
“Mierda, eres difícil, ¿no? Just trust me.” He huffed out a laugh.
So you did. There were eyes everywhere, if need be. You said what he had been pining for the entire time.
“So take me home then, Peña.”
He wasted no time walking you to where he was staying, the warmth of his palm not leaving your lower back until you made it to his front door. He had been trying to get small things out of you during the stroll. Where were you from? Why were you visiting? You didn’t give him much and you could tell it was bothering him. Every once in a while he would look down at you, his breath falling right into the ticklish spot on your ear. You wanted him.
It didn’t come as a surprise to either of you when he guided you in the door, shut it quickly and then grabbed the back of your head, moving his lips against yours.
He was soft and gentle, but his grip in your hair was stern- he’d seen the world, felt it. Watched it bleed, be unmerciful. He kissed you on your lips, then once on your cheek as an apology for not being able to contain himself. He kissed between your collar bones, lovingly, moving down to your breasts.
“How old are you again?”
“20’s. Old enough.” You were breathless. His lips were kissing at your sweat.
“Mhmm,” he moans against your skin.
“Gonna have to fuck it out of you, aren’t I?”
“I don’t give away information for free, Peña.”
“Get on the bed mi conejita.” He growled. For his line of work, he wasn’t very patient.
It was dark in his room, and the entirety of it smelled of him. You wanted to sink into his sheets and cover yourself in him. You made your way to the bed in the right corner of the room, the only light from the orange streetlights, barely on from the newly descending darkness.
He had been a flirt since the moment he opened his mouth, but he saved himself for the darkness. You prop yourself up, sitting at the middle edge of his bed with your feet on the ground, waiting for instruction. He seems like he’s the type who wants to be in charge.
His shirt is off quickly, and the amber light hugs the curves of his chest, his hips. His lips touch exactly what he wants them to, nothing more. You wanted them to wrap around you like they had his cigarette, before.
His nose kisses you, too. He kisses like he never will again. And he doesn’t, not really. Not many people have touched his lips, as compared to the rest of him.
He’s an angry man, it runs through his veins, and you can feel it in his force. But he wants so badly to be calm, still, soft, in the way he caresses you. How can you not be angry at the world when you’ve seen what he has?
The thing is, you have. Not to his extent, surely. But you’d seen a lot pass your dads desk.
“Now tell me, cariño, what do you need to give me what I want?” You scoffed as he pulled away, removing his arms from either side of you on his bed.
“Tell me your first name and then let me suck your cock.”
Who was winning at this game?
You pushed him forwards and made enough space in front of him for your body, as you slid down to your knees, hitting the hollow wood harder than anticipating as you unbuckle his belt. You go ahead and take it all the way off, kissing his stomach as you fidget with his zipper. His hair peaks out over the top of the layers as you impatiently pull his jeans lower.
He’s so hard that it’s making it difficult to take them off, cock pressing against the tight denim. He gasps softly as your hand reaches him. You pull his already showing head out of his boxers, licking your lips before wetting his tip and licking up anything he was already willing to give you.
“Javier,” He gasps his own name.
“Mmm,” you moan as you hold it in your hands. It’s heavy, long. His balls are heavier as you grasp them, only imagining the sound they’ll make slapping against your cunt.
You’d teased him enough.
“Javier,” you were whining now. He groaned at his name on your tongue, mixing with his precum.
“Hush and open your throat.”
You pushed your wet tongue into the bottom of your mouth, opening your lips wider in attempt to take him easily. But this wasn’t going to be easy, considering the size of him.
You let the saliva pool in your mouth and he lifts an eyebrow, asking for permission. You look up at him and nod.
Immediately his hand are in your hair, moving them around as he finds the right grip to fuck himself into your mouth.
“Too big baby? I thought you were a big girl? Old enough? That’s so cute, it’s not even all the way in. Let’s see if you can do it, hmm?” He lifts his head and it falls backwards as he takes your throat completely, your neck and body jumping at the intrusion. You find yourself lifting your hands to his hips, trying to find anything to hold onto as he fucks himself down your tongue and into the back of your mouth.
“So pretty, little bunny.” Finally revealing the nickname he gave you. “But I’m not finished yet.” You sputter around him, opening your throat even wider.
Your knees are carrying a dull ache, and you almost wish you hadn’t asked to suck him off. You remove yourself from him and attempt to catch your breath.
He continues carving out the shape of his cock in your throat and you relax, letting his angry head hit the back of your neck.
His voice is so deep, vibrating even, but his whimpers aren’t as they slip past his lips. He’s ruthless in his attempt.
“All done, sweet thing?” He pulls himself from your throat and looks at the connecting spit.
“I’m not. If this mouth isn’t gonna tell me what I want to hear than I might as well fill it as I see fit, yes?”

Can I do a soft prompt not on the list ? I love your writing 😊 Buck and Eddie driving back from a zoo trip or something with Chris and Chris falling asleep in the back seat.
Going to count this under “road trip” for list checking purposes. Send me soft prompts! Find the finished ones on ao3!
Sometime in May when the end of school was weeks away but felt like eternity even to a kid who liked the place, Eddie had come home from running errands to find Buck and Chris laying out flat on the living room floor marking up a giant piece of paper. Eddie doesn’t know where they got it - it must be 18x24 at least - or why the floor was the best option for putting it to use - a mystery shortly solved by finding the remains of lunch still scattered over the kitchen table - but Eddie is careful not to step on it or any stray limb or crayon as he makes his way through to put groceries away. When anything perishable is safe someplace cold he comes back to sit between them, at the long edge of the sheet.
“What are you up to?”
“Read the paper, dad,” Chris says, exasperated. Eddie makes a face at him, and Buck tries not to laugh from his spot on the floor. The two of them share a look before Eddie puts his attention on Buck and Christopher’s work. Written at the top of the paper in chunky block letters is BIG SUMMER IDEAS, decorated by a smiling sun with cool guy shades and what Eddie assumes is a flamingo judging by the shades of pink. There’s more writing all over the page, half of it upside down because Chris is laying along the top edge. Eddie picks out BEACH DAY and GARDEN WITH PEPPA and NEW PIZZA (RESTAURANT? INVENT?) and, mirrored in both hand writings and circled twice, ZOO.
“You two aren’t sick of the zoo by now?” Eddie asks, and then raises his hands when they both look scandalized.
“Never!” Buck proclaims. “Besides, San Diego and Santa Barbara are both not that far away, we thought we’d maybe try and branch out.”
Chris nods seriously. “We need to expand our zoo repertoire,” he says, confident around the big new vocabulary word.
“Alright,” Eddie gives in, easily. “This is a big list, we gotta do all of these? I don’t know if we’ll have the time…”
Buck pushes himself up to sitting, and shrugs. “Just ideas. We were getting antsy waiting for Summer, huh?” Chris nods emphatically and Buck grins at him, before looking back at Eddie a little less sure. “Thought we’d write out some things to look forward to. We- you don’t have to do all, or any-“
“We’re definitely going to the zoo,” Chris frowns.
“Except for the zoo, of course.” He still has that look on his face, like he’s overstepped somehow, and Eddie wants to say please don’t apologize for finding a way to make Chris happy when he’s feeling down, and of course “we,” of course you’re coming with us, I haven’t the first idea how to invent new pizza.
“It’s a good list,” is what he says. “We’ll see what we can pack in there.”
That was May, and it’s the end of July now, and history books worth of things have happened in between, and Buck and Eddie’s Relationship (capital R, for Romance) is so new it’s stumbling around on doe legs. Eddie thinks they’ve spent years planting a pretty nice meadow for it to stumble around in, though, and taking his hand in public for the first time ever as they trail Chris around the Santa Barbara Zoo is easy as anything. It helps that they both start laughing - giggling, really, he’s a grown man giggling at the zoo - whenever they make eye contact. They hold hands in front of an island full of tiny little monkeys, and in a cave where you can watch penguins swim around, and by the statue of the giraffe with the crooked neck, and on the train that loops around the whole thing and gets so close to the lion enclosure that it’s almost a little frightening. They spend a fair amount of time not holding hands, too, as Buck and Chris pour over every informational plaque in the place. Eddie is perfectly content to watch them have at it and provide sunscreen reapplications and snacks, probably smiling just as sappily at his two favorite people in the world having a good time as he did at holding hands (holding hands!) with his boyfriend (boyfriend!).
They only stay at the zoo until about four, but they’d had to get up at the crack of dawn to make it up the coast in a reasonable amount of time, especially with the mess of construction Buck had to white knuckle through on the northbound 101 past Ventura. Chris is starting to wilt a little, and Eddie’s running on several cups of coffee, and even Buck has yawned once or twice by the time they’re eating an early dinner at a sandy little outdoor restaurant close to the beach outside of town. A train goes right past during the meal and all three of them stand up for a good look, Buck hefting Chris up on his back for a better vantage point. If Eddie gets distracted by watching the joy on their faces instead of the train, well, his sappiness was never going to be contained just within the walls of the zoo. He finds it a little hard to believe, sometimes, the amount of happiness he gets to experience. It jostles around inside of him like loose parts, or a bag of treasure. He’s been happy before, he’s been happy for years here in LA with the family of the 118 taking root around him, but it’s felt… more, these days, almost dizzying since he and Buck had either suddenly or finally closed the distance. It bubbles away inside of him, somewhere near Camarillo with Chris falling asleep in the back seat and pink California summer sunset light washing over them all. Buck’s got the windows rolled down just a little, to feel the air, and the radio is on low, and Eddie has been trying to leave less things unspoken, so.
“Thank you.”
Buck glances at him with a little smile, then looks back at the road. “For what?”
Eddie shrugs, because how is he supposed to encompass all of it with words? “For driving. For coming with us. For holding my hand.”
Buck’s laugh is just a soft exhale. “I should be thanking you for all that.”
“Even the driving?”
“Okay, well, the construction was bad, but yeah even the driving. You know I don’t mind it.” Buck’s smile is still small, and it feels important, suddenly, to try and get across the enormity of all this.
“Thank you for- everything, Buck. For inventing new pizza.”
Buck laughs loud, and then sheepishly checks Chris in the rear view mirror. Still sleeping. “I don’t think we’ve quite perfected it yet,” he says, quietly. “Give me a few more tries.”
Eddie shakes his head. “I don’t know how to- the time you give us, the- everything- Do you know? How happy you make us? Make me?”
Buck glances at him, twice, three times, keeps his eyes back on the road. “It feels like…” Buck is almost whispering, and gestures at his chest. “Like that little bag of rocks Chris got at the gift shop.”
Eddie laughs, folding a little closer to Buck, because a bag of treasure, they’re sharing metaphors. “Yeah. Like that.”
“I know,” Buck says, like he can’t believe it sometimes either. “You know? Me- me too?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I know." There's hardly been any complete sentences in this conversation but Eddie thinks they've never really needed words to communicate anyway. He knows. Buck knows. "We've still got 23 items on the list."
Buck laughs, and lets go of the steering wheel to grab Eddie's hand again. "Well, tomorrow's a new day. Summer's not over yet."
Eddie thinks, holding Buck's hand with Chris sleeping in the back, on the road headed home, that with each other summer is never going to end.

( HANNAH MARKS, CIS WOMAN, SHE/HER ) — Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, you’ll find that ROMY RUBENSTEIN is a TWENTY SIX year old GRIFTER that has been in Chicago for EIGHT YEARS. According to government files, they’re a MUTANT on LEVEL THREE with the powers of RUSALKA PHYSIOLOGY. That must be why they’re DEVOTED and VENGEFUL. If you ask me, they remind me of THE CREAK OF DAMP WOOD EXPANDING, THE CLAMMY TOUCH OF SEAWEED ENTWINING YOUR WRIST, AND THE ELEGIAC FALL OF MARINE SNOW IN THE MUFFLED DISTANCE. They are affiliated with THE CULT OF THE BLESSED.
QUICK FACTS
full name: romy bina rubenstein
age: twenty six
gender: cis woman
personality: obsessive, selfish, judgemental, loyal
height: 5′3
star sign: tbd
fc: hannah marks
mutation info: READ HERE
FULL BIO
Born to wealthy parents. Had everything except their attention as they spent most of the time travelling, leaving Romy at home with an au pair and her siblings. Consquently, she acted out a lot to try and get mom and dad’s notice.
After going to study at University of Chicago (which she is pretty sure she could have gotten into unaided, but her parents hefty donation probably didn’t hurt), she spun further out of control with no supervision. This culminated in her stealing a yacht, and crashing it.
Romy drowned, as did her friends on the yacht with her. This was the moment that catalysed her mutation: she regained consciousness, able to breathe underwater. Managed to drag one of her friends from the wreck, narrowly saving their life.
Never dried off! She is now perpetually dripping water (which can fortify plantlife and control people a la a siren song), has long gills on her neck that open up when underwater, sharp teeth, and webbed fingers and toes.
Her surviving friend was disturbed by the changes, and also unable to forgive her. Though she’d saved their life, that wouldn’t have been necessary if Romy hadn’t crashed the yacht in the first place. So, they left her. And her parents didn’t want much to do with her either: Romy was perpetually dripping all over their nice house and it was a threat to the decor.
They bought her a houseboat to which she has been  banished, and now Romy spends her time on the Chicago River. The houseboat is overflowing with plants, which Romy likes more than she likes most people.
The mutation came with an unfortunate proclivity for drowning people. One night, she tried to drown a certain Santiago Quijada. The attempt was unsuccessful, but he liked her attitude and her abilities.
This is how Romy got the job as his right hand man (this is how SHE thinks of it, regardless of how he might describe their relationship), using her persuasive powers to lure people into the cult.
Kind of obsessed with Santi. Not sexually because she’s a lesbian, but just in general, and gets weird and jealous about him. The vibe: cat rolling about in the sun displaying belly; she needs him to acknowledge how cute the belly is but if he touches, she will spring shut claws OUT
‘i’m his silly little rabbit...’ ‘his what?’ ‘his silly little rabbit’ ‘does he call you that?’ ‘no :)’
QUICK FACTS
Never finished her degree (causing a yacht wreck ending the lives of several students will do that to you). But she was studying biology before, because she always liked plants even before she got power over them. And we love women in STEM!
When drowning people, she does crocodile-esque death rolls. She doesn’t have to! She just thinks that’s more fun (and she’s right)
Misandrist :/ sorry. Kind of hates men on sight, but will play nice and be friendly or flirty if she thinks it will help her lure them into the water.
Strained relationship with her parents. They never had much time for her, and even less so now she’s a soggy bog bitch. Has an older sister and a younger brother who she gets on a bit better with, but Romy is definitely the black sheep of the family. She’ll take their money though <3
Jewish, and mostly keeps kosher. She is the reason you see rabbis on tiktok answering questions like ‘is it possible for human meat to be kosher?’ (it’s not possible. disappointed rusalka noises).

Jensen Ackles Talks Directing Jared Padalecki on Walker and the Episode's Many Supernatural Nods (Kansas!)
By Vlada Gelman / April 13 2022, 1:55 PM PDT
Having spent 15 seasons together on Supernatural, the men who used to go by Dean and Sam Winchester almost didn’t even need full sentences when Jensen Ackles stepped behind the camera of Jared Padalecki’s current CW series Walker.
“It was very nice to be back with someone who I’ve got such an incredible shorthand with, which we’ll always have,” Ackles tells TVLine. “You don’t lose something like that. Spending 15 years building that up, that’s never going to go away. So that was fun. And being able to direct him in such a quick way… I think some of the other cast were kind of like, ‘Wait, what was that note? Did you just reference a movie and you’re now changing your tone?’ So those kind of things were a lot of fun for he and I to play with.”
In addition to marking an off-screen reunion between the former castmates, the episode (airing this Thursday at 8/7c) also features a Kansas performance of “Carry On Wayward Son” (aka the unofficial Supernatural theme song), as well as plenty of other references to the pair’s long-running drama.
Below, Ackles discusses the nods to the Winchesters that he snuck into the hour, the prank he pulled on Padalecki and whether he’ll make an on-screen appearance on Walker.
TVLINE | What was it like working with Jared again, but for the first time on something where you aren’t in the world of Supernatural and he’s not playing Sam Winchester?
I feel like if I ever get on screen with Jared, we will instantly fall into those shoes. So it was a good thing that I wasn’t actually sharing the screen with him, allowing him his space to be this new character, which was a lot of fun to watch. Because not only do I know him as Sam, but I also know Jared very, very well, and I’ve probably had to stare at his face more than most people on this planet, and I’ve seen all the idiosyncrasies, the facial expressions and the reactions and everything that he does. So none of that was very new for me. It was just kind of a variation on a theme…
And we had some fun on set, probably more than I think the rest of the cast was used to having. And this is one thing that Jared and I kind of laughed about. I was like, “Man, it’s amazing that all the jokes that we repeated for 15 years are now landing on fresh ears. We have a whole new audience! This is amazing!” [Laughs]
TVLINE | When the show first premiered, it took me a minute to wrap my head around the fact that Jared was now playing a dad to two high schoolers. So I was curious if there was anything that surprised you or something new that you learned about Jared, seeing him as this new character, seeing him in this new capacity in a new show?
I mean, that’s the thing, I spent a lot of time with Sam Winchester, but I spent more time with Jared Padalecki. I know him as a father, I know him as a brother and as a son and a dear friend. So I’ve seen him play these roles in real life. So to see him just kind of translate that to on-screen stuff, it was no stretch for me. It was just another facet of the person that he is, and he’s really good at it. So seeing him bring that to the on-screen character just seemed very natural in my eyes.
TVLINE | I feel like there must be a story about filming the blindfolded obstacle course scene with Jared.
I mean, look, I could have really like brought out the big guns for that, but I do know the guy and I do love the guy, and I was like, “I don’t know that this is the kind of torture I want to put him through.” [Laughs] Honestly, I’d do a whole episode about just him trying to make it through an obstacle course. I’d watch that. But it was a hot day, Jared sweats like crazy, and it would have made for a miserable shoot. So I actually tried to make it as doable as possible and took it easy on him. I got him in other ways. I had a life-size bear come to life and attack him in one of the scenes.
TVLINE | How did the Kansas performance come to be a part of the episode? Was that a make-good from them not being able to be in the Supernatural series finale?
Yeah, the planets kind of aligned as they kind of fell apart at the end of Supernatural. But they kind of aligned for it to happen, and everybody kind of looked at each other like, “Wait, can we actually do this? Can we make this happen?” They asked if it was something that I’d be cool with, and I was like, “Absolutely! Let’s 100 percent do that! What we tried to do two years ago, let’s absolutely try and do that now.” Kansas was totally game and just totally great and awesome about it. The crew was super excited to be all of a sudden shooting a rock concert. I think I’ve got some behind the scenes footage of me literally dancing and singing at the top of my lungs behind the director’s monitors during one of the takes, so I’ll have to post that whenever the episode comes out.
TVLINE | Were there any other nods to the show that you included in the episode that maybe I missed or that were more subtle?
Some very subtle ones. I don’t know if you noticed, but I kind of opened up on a plate of bacon being slapped down. Very Dean Winchester. There’s also a very familiar green cooler that gets brought into a scene, and that was the actual cooler that Sam and Dean sat on and drank out of and sat in the back of the Impala for 15 years. I had to massage the dialogue a little bit. I think Mitch [Pileggi] looked at it and he was like, “What kind of heathens would…?” I don’t think that was in the script.
There was a few others. I have to go back and remind myself, but there was definitely some verbiage, too, that was thrown in. [For one scene], we needed a shadowy figure of some sort, and I said, “Hey, this is the perfect opportunity to slide myself into the episode.” [Laughs]
TVLINE | I know you’ve been very busy with The Boys and The Winchesters, but has there been any discussion about doing an on-screen role on Walker? And if so, what type of character would you like to play?
There has been some talk about it, but the possibility has been earmarked, we’ll say, until things kind of slow down with my schedule — if they do. I’m kind of over committed as it is right now. So we kind of just said, “Well, down the road, we’ll keep an eye out.” And if I was to ever do it, I don’t know if it makes sense to do something completely opposite of what he and I did for 15 years together, or if it makes sense to lean into that a little bit, have some familiarity there. I don’t know. We’ll see if we get to cross that path. I wouldn’t be surprised, also, if somebody comes knocking and says, “Hey, they want to do a Supernatural short-order reboot or movie or something,” and then that’s the next time you see Jared and I together.
TVLINE | I don’t think anyone will be complaining about that.
[Laughs] We’ll see.

Hi! If I may, I would like to make a request.Can you write about MC with a older twin brother who look very much like her and both of them were actually from a powerful noble family but were detested for being illegitimate children.So, mc thought that he is dead after he almost kill their father who attempted to rape her when they were young and I wonder what would their reunion be like.I also wonders about the reaction of either Chevalier or Licht.
So this was a hard one to fit into a single story. There are a lot of layers! I hope it satisifes. Approx. 2000 words of drama, lost brothers, and bad dads!
Belle was adjusting to palace life. Working in the library was almost like the bookstore, only with fewer customers and, well, she didn’t need to sell anything. It was hard to imagine the frightened girl she’d been months ago, when Sariel forced the job on her to choose the next king.
Now Chevalier ruled and she was his consort. A commoner couldn’t marry a prince, much less a king, but she was someone important to him. The person he loved. And because of that, she made a home here for herself. Sometimes that meant attending formal events with him or spending weeks alone while he was out riding the borders or leading sorties.
Not an easy life, but her early years taught her to weather the bad times and enjoy the good.
“Belle?” Rio called her from the doorway. “King Highness wanted you to meet him at the stables. Immediately.”
She sighed. “I suppose the library isn’t going anywhere. I can get back to cataloging later.” Her eyes took in the crate of new arrivals from Jade. “Anyway, did he say what for?”
Rio laughed. “He never does. And I’m not going to ask.”
The two of them made their way across the palace grounds and out to the stables. A battalion of border guards were milling around, freshly arrived. Belle scanned the crowd of dusty, uniformed men, looking for the shock of silvered hair, the white cloak and armor, that would mark him out among his men. But instead, her eyes found someone else. Someone she never expected to see again.
His hair was shorter now than hers had ever been, and he had a scar that cut across his cheek. A thin, pallid line that stood out against skin tanned from long hours in the sun. But his eyes, his nose, his lips . . . so much like hers that they’d been able to swap places until they were teens.
Rio caught her arm as she stumbled, her legs numb. “Belle? What is it?”
“My brother. My brother!”
Her shout drew eyes and murmurs. Not that she noticed anyone but him. Her brother, lost since that night . . . her vision blurred with tears.
“Sis!”
She heard him close the distance between them, heavy boots thudding on the hard packed dirt.
Rio studied them both, eyes wide. “You have a brother?”
Neither answered him. They held each other at arm’s length, studying faces that were not so different, despite all the years they spent apart. Then the soldier’s face broke into a wide smile. He pulled Belle close and hugged her tight.
“Could . . . someone tell me what’s going on?”
Belle pulled back from her brother but kept ahold of his hand. “Rio. This is my big brother. Auri.”
“You never said you had a brother.” Rio’s gaze was suspicious and a little hurt.
“I-”
“She thought I was dead. And I thought she was. I never expected . . . I never thought I’d find you at the palace! I thought one day I might find your grave.” His eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Belle nodded. “I wrote to our mother but she said our father killed you. And threatened to kill her if she ever mentioned our names again.”
Something hard and vicious shone in Rio’s eyes but it was gone in an instant. “Do you think that’s why King Highness had you come to the stables? To meet your brother?”
“It must be. But where is he?” Belle and her brother looked around, but Chevalier was nowhere to be seen.
Auri’s eyes went wide. “You know the King?”
Belle ducked her head, feeling shy about her relationship with Chevalier. She wasn’t sure what to tell her brother. “I’m the - the librarian.”
Rio’s brows quirked but he didn’t disagree with her statement.
“That’s great! You always loved books. I bet you’re the best librarian.” Auri squeezed her hand gently.
“And you’re a soldier?”
Auri nodded. “I am. A border guard. I’ve never been to the capital before, but during the King’s last visit, he ordered us here.” He glanced back at his compatriots. “Which reminds me . . . I have to finish stowing my gear and caring for my mount. Can I meet up with you later? I don’t want you to disappear on me again.”
Belle hugged him tightly. “Yes! I’ll meet you at the library tonight. We’ll go have dinner and you can tell me what happened.” She closed her eyes against more tears. “I am just so glad you’re alive.”
“We have a lot to talk about.” Auri pried himself loose and went back to his squad.
Rio walked an unsteady Belle back to the palace. She headed straight for Chevalier’s office. “You knew! You knew who he was!”
A startled Sariel looked up from a stack of trade reports, eyes narrowing at the interruption.
“Of course I knew. Only a simpleton could miss the resemblance.” Chevalier’s lips turned up in a slight smirk.
Belle threw her arms around his neck and buried her face against his chest. “Thank you”
Chevalier settled an arm around her, the motion tender but awkward and unpracticed. “You are so easily moved. I did nothing but rotate out our border guard. It had nothing to do with you.”
“I know that’s not true,” she murmured. “Why else did you call me to the stables?”
Chevalier stroked her hair and did not reply.
Sariel quirked an eyebrow. “Such an emotional display. Shall I see myself out then, Highness?”
“No, finish your report.” Chevalier settled Belle on his lap.
Rio stood in the doorway, pretending not to pay attention to the conversation in the office, though he marked every word.
“As you wish, my King. You tasked us with looking into the Thielen family. To date, Lord Thielen has no heirs by his lady wife. There are rumors he has natural children by a village woman. She was questioned but claims the son and daughter of rumor are dead, and of no relation to the Thielen family.” Sariel paused, glancing up from the documents. “Of course, Lord Thielen denies the rumors as well.”
Chevalier did not miss the way Belle stiffened in his arms nor the tight, white knuckled grasp on his coat. “Summon Lord Thielen and this village woman.”
“Please. Don’t.” Belle’s voice was barely more than a breath. Her skin prickled and her bile rose up in her throat.
Sariel’s eyes glinted. “Interestingly, in Rhodolite a noble can recognize natural children in the absence of any true-born heirs. They would inherit his titles and income. Elevated to the peerage.”
“No . . .” Belle looked up.
Chevalier studied her expression.
“Please. Let him believe we are dead. Auri and I. He has nothing we want.” The words were low but sharp and certain. Her lips formed a thin, pale line. Her jaw was firm.
“But you’d be noble,” Rio said from the doorway. His usual goofy grin was gone and in it’s place, a thoughtful expression.
Sariel smiled widely. “For once, the dog has the right of it.”
Belle shook her head, tears filling her eyes. “No!”
Chevalier motioned for the other two to leave. When the door closed behind them, he ran his thumb across her cheek, wiping away the tears. “Stop crying. Explain yourself.”
She took a moment to breathe, letting herself feel safe and loved. Two things she never felt as a child.
Though Chev had little patience, his love for her made him wait until she was ready to speak.
With halting words, Belle began to tell him about her childhood. Not all of it, but the outlines. Her mother had been a village beauty and caught the eye of an unscrupulous lord. Thielen. After a few years, her mother gave birth first to Auri, and barely a year later, to Belle.
The lord did not want bastard children, but he wasn’t ready to give up his mistress either. So their mother told people the children’s father was a soldier, dead now, and that Thielen was taking care of them as charity. Things might have been fine, even good, but the lord resented his children. He hated the time they took and the cost of their support.
Thielen began to demand they work for their upkeep and took Belle to work as a maid in his mansion, and Auri to tend the gardens.
“I didn’t mind the work,” she sniffled. “But the way he looked at me . . . he would stare and say how much I reminded him of my mother. Then . . . one night, there was a storm. Auri and I couldn’t go home so we made up beds in the kitchen.” She closed her eyes, wishing she could skip this part.
Chevalier knew what was coming. He’d read enough books to see the villain in the pages to come.
“I went to fetch an extra blanket. That is when my father - when he - he pinned me to the wall. Pushed up my dress. I was screaming. He kept telling me to be quiet. And then he put his hands on my throat.”
“That is how I found them.” Auri’s voice came from the doorway. He’d quietly opened it and stood on the threshold. “Highness.” He bowed.
“As impetuous a fool as your sister. You may enter.” Chevalier motioned for Auri to sit.
“Thank you Highness.” He cleared his throat. “Thielen dropped my sister when I hit him with a vase. She fell and didn’t get up again. I wanted to go to her but the lord pulled his dagger and came after me.” Auri’s fingers brushed the scar on his face.
Chevalier’s eyes were cold as the deep winter. “Your father is a bigger fool than either of you. A lord that cannot contain his passions is no noble.”
Auri nodded. “Agreed. Neither of us want anything to do with him. He is no father and no lord, Highness.”
Belle nodded mutely.
“Then you will not.” Chevalier stood, still cradling his consort.
“Highness? Why did you take an interest in your librarian’s family? And why are you carrying her?” Auri’s expression turned from distantly remembered tragedy to confusion as he became aware of the way his sister and the king held each other.
“My librarian?” Chevalier smirked. “Is that what she told you?” He poked her forehead with his free hand. “Be honest with your brother. Clavis has exhausted all my patience for lies and half-truths.”
Belle gave Chevalier and Auri a sheepish smile. “We only just reunited. I didn’t want him to think I was making things up.” She rubbed a hand across her face. “Auri, I’m the king’s consort. And his librarian.”
“One day, my queen.” Chevalier said this as if it were inevitable.
Auri blinked. “Oh. Oh wow. Sis. How . . . why . . .”
“You can ask inane questions later. Now get out of my way.” Chevalier pushed past Auri and strode down the hall without a look back.
Belle wanted to talk with her brother, but she felt exhausted from recounting that awful night when she’d woken to distant screams on blood soaked carpet. The night she fled her home, afraid of her father and what he wanted from her. She made no complaint as Chevalier took her to his room, undressed her, and tucked her into his bed.
She wanted to ask what he thought. What he would do. But more than that, she wanted to find peace in his arms.
When she woke, Chevalier was gone, but Rio brought her breakfast and a visitor. Auri, who’d spent the night in the guest wing of the palace. They were able to spend the day recounting the years they lost, laughing, and sharing stories with one another.
Thielen wasn’t mentioned again by name, but weeks after their reunion, there were rumors of a nobleman sent to the frontlines of the fight against Obsidian. A man with no heirs. He was killed in his first sortie, an outcome any could have predicted for a soft noble well past his prime.
Some said the crown wanted his lands to grant to a supporter. Others, that the noble in question offended the quick-tempered king. But only Auri and Belle knew the truth.

Embry Call x Reader
5058 words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most of my life has been spent in the Forks area so getting to travel to Europe for six months to see the art and culture was a dream come true. The past four months I’ve been travelling through Europe, starting in Greece and ending my trip in the Irish countryside.
The old art and architecture filled me with a joy that I could not get anywhere else in the world. The smells, sounds and sights all played their own part into the experience. I got to see the moon rise over Mount Olympus, the David by Michelangelo in the Vatican, tour through the Louvre, drink wine on the beaches of France and so much more. I’ve been living my best life.
It's been a dream to see the world, I've met so many new people and tried so much food. I’ve enjoyed every minute of my trip, but there was a part of me that longed for the beaches of La Push.
That part is Embry. Embry Call. My boyfriend, my pal, my love and my light. To me Embry is my everything and to him I’m his everything. That is one thing that has been made perfectly clear the past four months I’ve been away. Every day he’s told me he misses me and I know he means it, I’ve been told not just by him but also the rest of the pack.
Everyday I’ve woken up to ‘Good morning I miss you.” Sometimes he phones to tell me that he feels like he might die if I’m away for any longer. I always chuckle and tell him he will survive, it’s not like I’m going away forever; but that's what he feels like it is. This usually earns me a long winded whine from the other end of the line.
My phone buzzed against the smooth surface of the bedside table while Embry’s face flashed across my screen signalling that he’s calling. A smile graces my lips as I pick up the phone to be greeted with his loving voice.
“Hi (y/n)!! I miss you so much.” sadness was laced in his usual cheery greeting, it hurt my heart to be away from him but I would never trade this experience for anything. I’ve been planning this for years and I wasn’t going to pass up cheap plane tickets.
He filled me in on the pack's shenanigans, complaining about how they keep teasing him for being glued to his phone awaiting any updates I would send him. The later it got the heavier my eyelids seemed to feel, my speech started to slur with exhaustion of time zones while Embry continued to become more energetic with each passing minute.
“Em. . .” A yawn interrupted me mid sentence, a low whine emanated from the phone as he knew I would want to get to bed to have the energy for the long trip I’ll embark on tomorrow for Ireland, which is my last stop. I’d be spending the remaining two months of my trip in the lush countryside.
“I think I should get to sleep, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.” I mumbled into the phone.
“But (y/n)!” he dragged out. I knew he wanted to talk longer but I physically cannot do it. Even though Embry and I don’t live together officially yet, we’d talk into the early morning till one of us fell asleep.
“But (y/n) what?” I dragged out the ‘a’ matching his whine.
“I miss you and want you to come home.” I could hear him pause over line before he continued.
“Besides, sleeping isn’t the same without you.”
I ran my hand through my hair gently tugging on the roots easing the tension that’s built up over my trip. As much fun as I’ve had, he does have a point. Sleeping just isn’t the same without Em. My nights have been spent restless in beds that aren’t mine without the comforting touch of my boyfriend; but that doesn’t mean I can just drop everything and go back home.
“Em you know I can’t just pack everything and go home. . .” I looked at the painting that hung over the tv that sat opposite of my bed. A puppy-like whimper fell from his lips when he spoke again, his voice cracked like he was going to cry. It broke my heart hearing him upset.
“I-I know I just really miss you.”
“I know Embry I miss you too, but it’s only two more months then I’ll be home.”
We chatted for ten more minutes before I fell asleep on the phone. As much as I missed falling asleep in his warm embrace I can’t just fly back home, not yet at least.
The blaring of my alarm woke me from my slumber. The clock face read 6:02 a.m. taking everything within myself to peel back the blankets that encased me in their warm grip. I patted through the bed sheets to find my phone only to knock it onto the floor in the process.
My lock screen adorned a photo of Embry with icing smudged across his face from his birthday party but a swamp of text messages from the pack covered my favourite photo of him. Five texts from Leah, seven from Jake, nine texts from Paul, 12 texts and two missed calls from Sam and a whole group chat titled ‘(y/n) come home.’
The group chat kept pinging with the members of the pack who were still awake discussing the logistics of flying out to Ireland to take me back home. Was Embry really causing that much strife in the pack for them to create a group chat? Knowing him, it couldn’t be too far from the truth.
Leah and I call once a week to check in and make sure the other is doing okay since I left. It’s one of my favourite parts of the week being able to have a one on one with someone sensible. Every week she fills me in on Embry begrudgingly, she does it because she knows it makes me happy which I appreciate.
Reading through her texts she didn’t say much in regards to Em’s behaviour the only message relating to him was “come get your man child please, he’s getting snot on the floor.”
I listened through Sam’s voice mails which were begging me to come home, he informed me that once Em knew I was asleep he started moping around Emily’s house again for the fourth consecutive night in a row. This was news to me.
The texts entailed that Embry was becoming a pain on patrol and that Paul ‘couldn’t take another minute of the incessant whining.’ I told them the same thing I told Embry; I’m not dropping everything and rushing back home to sooth the wails of a love sick boy. There isn’t much I can do from across the ocean anyway.
I stretched my body and headed towards the bathroom to brush my teeth and shower before I had to leave for the airport.
I packed the few remaining things I left out to prepare for the flight and headed my way to the lobby to check out. I enjoyed travelling but I wasn’t going to miss sleeping in hotels and hostels.
Two weeks have passed since I touched down in Ireland and to say I’ve been having the time of my life is an understatement; I’ve been having a ball living my best life.
The land was capped in a luscious emerald green sea of grass that waved in the wind, the roads were lined with hand built stone walls that marked the division of farmers fields.
Sheep and cattle grazed in pastures, and old castles dotted the countryside. It was gorgeous. It was a view that I wanted to see again, a view I want to see with Embry.
It felt like time was flying by between sight seeing, trail hiking, museum tours and calls with Embry and Leah. It has already been a month. I had one more month before I was to jet set back to the U.S. and see my Embry.
One more month before I was back in La Push surrounded by the scent of sea water and trees with the looming threat of rain constantly overhead except in the summer. For two months of the year La Push was bright and sunny with the expected summer storms that happened.
I had fallen asleep on the phone with Embry again when I realized my phone was lost in the sea of sheets as it buzzed with an incoming phone call.
I couldn’t find it until the call had gone to voicemail and my phone landed on the ground when I gave up and ripped the blankets off of the bed but whoever called must have felt it was really important. Picking up my phone the most unflattering photo of Jacob was plastered on the screen, his name in white.
“Hello?” I asked groggily into the phone, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I looked over at the clock which said in bold red numbers 1 am.
“Hey (y/n)! You sound like you just woke up.” I heard him chortle from the other end.
“That’s because I just woke up Jake, it’s one in the morning.” a yawn escaped my lips, I know I’ll have a rough time getting over jet lag when I go home.
He occupied twenty minutes with idle chatter and borderline interrogation about all the sights I’ve seen before I asked him why he was calling me so early in the morning
“Embry has spent the week at my house, you need to come home there’s nothing we can do anymore to occupy him till you return.” He sighed, Jake knows I want to finish my trip but we made a deal that I would come home early if there were absolutely no options left to keep Embry from sending the pack into hysterics.
I knew he was buttering me up for something.
“Are you sure you can’t figure something out? It’s just another month!”
“Another month of him eating my cereal and getting dirt on me from my dad!”
I snorted with laughter at the fact that Billy was telling Embry every embarrassing detail from his childhood.
“Jake please just let me think about it okay?” I sighed, flopping back into my hollowed cave of blankets and sheets.
“Okay, I’ll let you think about it but don’t think I won’t be telling Sam.” he warned.
We laughed together and he wished me a good night before hanging up the phone, before I slipped back into slumber I sent Jake one more text.
‘You wake me up at one in the morning again and it’s over for you.’ in which he responded with ‘Oh no I’m so scared lol.’
I reached over to the bedside table and plugged my phone in before the sweet embrace of warmth and slumber took over my senses.
The next three days I was bombarded with texts from Paul whining about the wolf mind link and how every patrol shift he had with Embry was spent tuning out his constant thoughts of me.
Standing in the shower with hot water running over my skin soothing my tense muscles I heard my phone buzz against the granite countertop. I rolled my eyes and continued to bask in the endless hotel hot water.
As bad as staying in hotels could be, the hot water made up for the early breakfast and sheets that were tucked in a little too tightly.
I had shampoo in my hair when my phone started buzzing again, this time with a call. I grumbled under the stream of water washing away the soap before it could get in my eyes; whoever's calling can wait.
I moved on to conditioning my hair, letting it sit while I wash the rest of my body with a lightly scented lavender soap.
I refused to use the complimentary soap because it dried out my skin and the lotion just left me feeling sticky instead of moisturized.
Watching the soap run down the drain my phone rang again, I clenched my fists, who could possibly be calling me now? I still refused to get out of my steamy heaven to answer my phone.
My gut told me that whoever was calling wouldn’t let up until I answered. I washed out the conditioner from my hair and wrapped it in a towel.
The mirror was coated in a layer of steam, the tiles were cool against my feet. I wrapped the plush towel around my body, mopping up the droplets of water that remained.
My phone started vibrating with rapid fire text messages from the pack’s group chat they made a month ago. I sighed, picking it up to sift through the messages. I read a message from Jared telling me he’d pay me to return.
The pack always made me laugh, together they’re a walking sitcom. There is never a dull moment with them, someone always had something witty or sarcastic to say.
I checked to see who had called me and it turned out it was Sam, I listened to his voice mails and immediately phoned him back.
As soon as I hit the call button it only rang for half a second before he picked up.
“Thank you for calling back, I thought I’d have to call two more times.” he chuckled.
“Well I was in the middle of a shower, can’t really take a call there.” I moved through the room with my phone pressed between my shoulder and cheek. Stopping at my suitcase to pick out what I was going to wear for the day.
“I’m going to be frank with you, I need you to come home. . .” I let out a huff before he continued.
“Embry needs you badly, he’s just a pile of mush on the floor now. It’s a chore to get him up to go on patrol. Please?”
“Fine, I’ll see what I can do Sam, I’ll try to book a flight for the earliest date I can find.” I knew I was giving in but from what they were telling me and the constant texts were getting to be difficult to manage.
“Thank you, when you get back I’ll buy you take out for a month okay?”
“I hate that you know what my weakness is.” I laughed through the phone, a month of free take out? Hell yeah. It made the prospect of going back a little brighter since I wasn’t going to complete the rest of my trip.
I wasn’t losing out on too much though, I had seen and done everything that I wanted. It wouldn’t be too bad to go home early.
We talked for a couple more minutes before parting ways, I threw my phone on the bed and watched it bounce a couple times before turning my attention back to getting dressed. Since I had a flight to book it was okay to spend the rest of the day lounging in pj’s.
The soft fabric of my pj’s brushed against my skin as I jumped into bed with my computer in hand, and now it was time to book a flight back home. Maybe text Paul and tell him he can quit complaining as well.
I woke up the next morning with my flight booked for take off in the afternoon and my daily good morning text from Embry. I felt a little sad to be leaving such a beautiful country but the trees, ocean and Embry all called my name.
Pacing through the room I grabbed the comfiest set of clothes I packed for my return flight back to Seattle, I had enough time to sleep on the plane to be conscious enough for the three and a half hour drive back to La Push.
I was set for a long day ahead of me but it was going to be worth it in the end, seeing the bright and happy face of my boyfriend, getting to hug him and kiss him again.
I made one last check of the room before I gathered my clothes and toiletry kit and made my way into the bathroom to shower before my long flight. As I was stepping into the shower my phone pinged from the counter with a text from Sam.
“Have you booked that flight yet?” it read.
“Yeah I’m due for take off at 1. I should be back in La Push some time tomorrow!”
My fingers brushed the cool surface of the counter top as I put my phone back and got into the shower, hot water immediately running down my back; this time my phone wasn’t being blown up by a desperate wolf pack trying to get my attention.
I can’t sit in the shower for hours on end this time, I have a flight to catch and a boy to surprise. Embry was currently still under the impression that I would be coming home in two weeks. Boy would he be in for a surprise.
The residual steam wafted out of the bathroom while I brushed my teeth revealing my towel wrapped body and hair in the mirror behind the skin. I checked the time and noted that I had two hours to check out, make my way to the airport, and check into my flight back home. Two more hours before I could smell the trees and ocean, two more hours before I could see my friends and hug Embry.
The time managed to move by in a blur by the time I was shutting the trunk of the yellow cab that was going to drop me off at the airport. I got into the back seat and the driver peeled away from the hotel front onto the winding roads.
“Aye where are you headin’?” The driver inquired in a thick Irish accent.
One thing I noticed in my stay here was that the accent changed in every town or village I passed through. It added to the charm
“Well, I’m on my way home after spending six months in Europe.” My eyes scanned over the green hills that rushed past in a blur.
“My favourite places I’ve been have definitely been Ireland and Greece.” I smiled towards him.
The lines around his eyes crinkled with the smile that graced his face at the mention of Ireland.
“Well that’s good to hear innit? Glad you’ve enjoyed your stay. We welcome ya with open arms if you return.”
We held a light conversation until we arrived in front of the drop off area for passengers, thanked him and grabbed my bags before heading into the crowded lobby.
The front of the terminal was metal and glass that reached towards the heavens with automatic doors gaping open like a mouth. Inside was a dull white with light grey floor which my shoes clicked against with each step.
It was packed with people like a can of sardines, I weaved my way through the masses towards the check in desk which thankfully only had a short line to get through.
Under the mix of fluorescents and natural light the desk lady’s bags that donned under her eyes glared with visible exhaustion from the mass amounts of people that swarmed the terminal.
Despite her clear drowsiness she still greeted me with a warm smile and a soft hello.
I grabbed my ticket and thanked her then turned and pushed myself through to the security check, dropped my luggage off and took a seat to wait for the boarding call for my flight.
As I waited grey clouds started to fill the sky blocking out the little sun that was once shining in its place.
My eyes grew heavier by each minute that passed, waiting could be hard, but waiting in an airport where there’s no sense of time is worse. So I distracted myself by people watching.
A lady was bouncing her baby, the old man across from me was snoring. A businessman paced back and forth speaking urgently into his phone, a family chatted excitedly for their family trip to the Canary Islands.
I pulled my eyes away from them as the call for my flight rang out over the crowded terminal, grabbing my suitcase and making my way towards the gate.
Excitement filled my every step as the anticipation grew and bubbled inside me. I gave the greeting flight attendant a small smile and made my way to my seat, for being last minute I managed to get a window seat.
We sat on the tarmac for twenty minutes before taking off and before I knew it the seat belt light pinged off and I was fast asleep jet setting my way back to America, back to my home.
I couldn’t tell what time it was when I woke up but the clock on the tv screen said 2 a.m. and that we’re due to arrive in an hour. I sat up in my seat and gazed out the window into the starry night sky.
Energy started to course through me as I watched the arrival time tick closer and closer. A light rain misted down over Seattle as I left the Seatac terminal and made my way through the maze of cars in the night that was made darker by the rain.
I spotted my blue Subaru and popped the trunk so my interior and seats wouldn’t get wet. It had been a long six months since I last sat in my driver's seat, the wheel almost felt foreign in my hands as I turned the key and listened to the engine roar to life.
I drove through the winding roads of the city to the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry to take the 45 minute ride into Bainbridge and headed North to get on the 101 then turn onto 110 which would take me back into the heart of La Push.
The closer I got to Forks the brighter the sky became; well as bright as it could be on a gloomy day. The clouds became painted in the glow of purple and pink as the sun rose over the horizon, the rain had let up and left me with an overcast sky for the remainder of the drive back.
Since I slept virtually the entire flight back I didn’t feel the weight of exhaustion at all, but surely when I arrived back in the arms of Embry I knew I’d hit the wall with sleep deprivation.
As I barreled through the corridor of trees I passed the signature ‘welcome to Forks’ sign and turned right onto the 110, twenty minutes to home. I was so close but my soul felt like it was light years away.
The clock on my radio told me that it was currently 6:45, the pinks and purples that coated the sky faded away to the typical grey that fills my senses with delight. Sea salt and washed up kelp started to seep into the air that circulated into my car making the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
Closer to Beach Drive I got the stronger the smell of the ocean became. The turn signal clicked as I turned onto the road that gave way to Sam and Emily’s house so they could take me over to Embry’s in the off chance that he happened to be awake at this hour.
It’s highly unlikely that he would be up at this hour but it’s not something I could be one hundred percent positive about. I stepped out of my car and turned around to see Emily running as fast as she possibly could towards me with open arms and a huge smile plastered across her face.
Dropping my bags I dashed across their lawn into her embrace.
“Oh (y/n)! I missed you so much, you must be so tired.” She released me from her hug and settled her hands on my shoulders giving them a gentle squeeze.
“I missed you too Emily, I knew I’d be tired but not this tired.” I chuckled while wiping at my under eyes in a feeble attempt to wipe away the exhaustion.
She put her hand on my lower back and led me inside for the awaiting cup of tea while Sam moved my bags into his truck.
The warmth of their home embraced me, the comfort of their kitchen was familiar. The only thing missing was the rowdy group of boys that made up the pack who usually occupied every available seat in the home.
I took a seat at the kitchen table where three cups of tea sat waiting, I should have expected a q and a when I returned. Wrapping my hands around the mug the warmth that radiated from it filled my hands.
Emily took a seat beside me and Sam entered through the door and sat adjacent to both of us.
“So how was the trip?” We sat around their table chatting until our cups were empty and filed out of the house into the early morning air.
“Emily and I will drive your car back to your place after I drop you off at Embry’s, the kid’s been sleeping in my living room more often than I’d appreciate.” Sam’s eyes crinkled with a smile, I knew he was joking but at the same time there was truth to his words; and honestly I couldn’t blame him.
“Thank you for putting up with him while I was gone, I owe you guys one and you owe me take out for a month.” He rolled his eyes and ruffled my hair turning into the Call's driveway. Embry’s mom had already left for work leaving him to his own devices; which meant he would sleep in as late as his heart desired.
We got out of Sam’s truck and he dropped my bags on the doorstep. I turned and gave him a quick hug and a thank you before sticking my key into the lock.
The door creaked open and I dragged my suitcases to a stop in their front entry way and shut it behind me.
My shoes landed on the floor with a soft thud and I gingerly walked up the stairs to ensure I wasn’t too noisy while making sure to avoid the one squeaky stair.
I got to the top of the stairs and hung a left down their light beige hallway that gave way to the oak door that guarded Embry’s room. His soft snores filtered through the door, it’s door knob was cool in my hand. Making an audible click with the turn of my wrist.
Dark mahogany brown hair peaked up from beneath the sheet that tucked Embry’s body out of view. One pillow was on the floor while the other was tucked firmly between his cheek and arm, I smiled at the sight of my sleeping boyfriend which filled my every inch with the utmost joy.
My sock covered feet pressed into the carpeted flooring with each step I took towards his bed making sure to step over the piles of dirty clothes that were scattered around the room.
The sun filtered through the gaps in the window blinds casting pools of golden light on the floor and along his walls causing the crystal prism that hung above his closet to sweep dashes of colour across his walls.
I pulled back the grey top sheet to reveal his peaceful face and I swear my heart was going to burst with the amount of love that I feel for him. His hair was tousled in every direction and a cow lick stuck straight up on the left side of his head.
My hands ran over his hair, smoothing it out while I whispered his name. Embry groaned a bit and rolled over, I whispered his name a little bit louder and moved my hands from his hair to his shoulders running them along his arms finally waking him from his slumber.
“Hi Em!” I gushed out as his brown eyes opened and focused on me. His face split with his toothy smile and his arms shot around me, pulling me down into his chest.
“Do you know how much I missed you?” Embry mumbled into my hair.
“I figured a lot with the amount of texts I got from the pack.” I reached up brushing the hair from his face.
“You can never leave me for that long again. . .I didn’t know what to do without you here.” He ran his hands through my hair placing a gentle kiss upon the top of my head.
“I was so worried about you. I couldn’t protect you and make sure you were safe.”
“Well next time I’ll make sure you can come, then you don’t have to worry.” Craning my neck up I placed a kiss upon his lips which were still a bit swollen from slumber.
“The important thing is that I returned safe and in one piece. The other important thing is I get to spoil you with the gifts I brought back!”
His laugh filled the room sending vibrations through my body.
“Hey! That’s my job to spoil you, not the other way around.” He ruffled my hair causing us both to laugh. I peeled off my socks and wiggled my way under his blanket.
“I think it’s time we catch up on six months worth of cuddling.” I poked a finger into his side.
“Yeah I think that’s a good idea, you owe me for being gone so long.”
“What? I came back early!” His hands made their way under my shirt to rest on the bare skin of my back sending waves of heat through my body from being pressed into him. Oh how I missed my heater.
“Yeah, by like what? Two weeks?” his silky voice chuckled out.
“I missed you Embry.” I told him, placing a kiss on his exposed shoulder.
“I missed you too. Now let's go back to sleep, you look tired.” He said to me as he rested his chin atop my head and pulling me closer.
hello hello requesting deancas rollerskating date :3
deancas rollerskating date! don't remember where the vibes came from for this one, but i'm going to write it, for you my beloved cherry-vamp <3
----
When Dean was 4, his mom took him to the Kansas State Fair.
Sammy stayed home with Dad.
Dean remembers feeling a vicious sense of satisfaction over that, over that one. When the baby cried, when Dad yelled, when Mom wouldn’t hold his hand because she was too busy balling her fists up, until her knuckles were white. It was better when it was just the two of them.
“Dean. Are we supposed to share this? I think it’s almost finished.”
Dean blinks, looks down at the bright blue slushie Cas asked if they could share. “Huh?” He looks up at Dean. And it feels like he’s looking up because there’s blue light behind him in a halo that seems to poke holes through his hair. His eyes are the same color, staring out at Dean.
“I was about to finish our drink.” Our. That feels meaningful, doesn’t it?
His voice comes out even more gravelly than Cas’. “Yeah. Yeah, sure, it’s all yours. That much food coloring is going to make you sick, though, you know. Turn you into Violet Beauregarde.” He smiles.
“I don’t think it will. There’s a reason this vessel held me for so long. It’s very strong.” Cas nods, slightly, too serious.
Dean’s eyes lock onto his lips. They’re pink and full, tilted slightly up with his chin. Pretty lips. Prettier than he probably even knows, Cas doesn’t pick up aesthetic attraction. He looks on the inside.
Dean picks up attraction. He picks it up very well. “You wanna hit the rink?”
“I’d be glad to.” Cas reaches over and folds Dean’s hand in his own. His brow furrows. “My first skating experience.”
God. He can’t breathe like this. “You’re going to like the couples skate,” he manages to say, pushing away from the table they’d been sitting at. Carelessly, Cas throws the cup away.
“We’ll fit in, then,” Cas says, stumbling over one of his feet as he tries to push away from the wall.
Dean’s pretending he’s not anxious, wondering where Sam is. Cas grabs onto him twice just skating over to the entrance. It sure is a distraction. His hands are always a goddamned distraction. Whether they’re pressing half moon nail marks in his back or closing on someone’s neck-
Dean’s skating gets too stiff and he pushes himself to let loose a little. “Oh, come on, Cas. Do better.”
“Dean, this is- this is that music you like.” Cas white knuckles the side of the rink.
It’s Taylor Swift. Debut album. Like a little bit of light emerging from the cracks in a doorway, Dean starts smiling. So much in him, only a little bit put out to be seen.
Cas sees it. The particular way he has, perceptive and good enough to strip Dean naked. Metaphorically. “Do you want me to ask them to put on your Britney Spears? I doubt you could skate over to the song booth without falling over.”
Cas scowls, pushing his hair behind his ears. Christ. And he’s taken off the trenchcoat, too. Dean’s in hot water. “I can do this.” Stubbornly, he lets go of Dean’s hand and pushes away from the wall.
It’s not smooth, by any means, but it’ll do. Dean does some glide thing- he doesn’t know, the only reason he’s any good is because roller skating was the thing of the month, dating in high school in the winter seasons.
“Nice focus. Make sure to look up sometimes,” Dean teases.
“If I look up,” Cas says through gritted teeth, “My feet won’t go where I want them to.”
Just for fun, Dean closes his eyes. Skates blind.
Sightless, he can feel everything. The hair tickling the back of his neck. A bit of damp sweat on his arms, all the way through his body. He’s missed shit like this, where it pulls him back down to Earth.
Cas is still trying the funny little push-glide thing, making his way over to Dean. “Did I ever tell you about the time I went to a place like this and forgot my shoes?” Dean asks.
“No. Dean, would you-”
Without blinking, he laces their fingers together and keeps telling his story. “It was my birthday. I was turning- I don’t know, 11? 12? Not old at all, in the grand scheme. Had this girlfriend, Fiona, and she asked her mom if they could take me to the bowling alley for the day.”
He toes the ground to slow down, conscious of how careful Cas is trying to be. “I had never been bowling before. I didn’t have any money. I don’t think I had even gone out for my birthday since I was 6 or something.”
Cas’ face falls still and he slows down even more, pulling Dean over to the wall. “She’s just taught me how to bowl. I’ve gotten my first strike, eaten half of a large pizza, and I’m asking for ice cream,” he says, all quiet now that he’s close to Cas’ ear.
“I walk out of there with bowling shoes on.”
They must make a funny pair. Cas has taken the trenchcoat off but he still looks so- fuck, Dean thinks he’s beautiful. Christ. “The pretty girl working the bowling alley yelled at her boyfriend to get me back there before I ran off with them for good.” Dean chuckles. The lights around the room feel like 4 AM lights, but it’s only late afternoon. Plenty of time for the pleased feeling in his chest to wear off in time for his nightly sleeplessness.
“Fiona started crying. Her mom pretended they didn’t know me. And that is the story of how I got dumped the first time.”
Cas leans to put his cheek on Dean’s shoulder. There’s a buzz in the air. He feels uncontrollable. He would be reckless, but Cas has spent all this time out on the rink and he’s latched on to Dean. It wouldn’t be- he wouldn’t like himself if he just let him go.
“My first date was with you,” Cas tells him.
Dean plays with his fingers. “Jesus Christ. Heaven should have unlimited hot chicks for their angels to date.” Cas’ eyebrows rise.
Dean shrugs. “Guess it’s my job to be your hot chick, then.”
“Thank you for taking me here.”
“I shoulda got you flowers. A nice bouquet. I shoulda introduced you to a steakhouse somewhere.” He steals a glance at Cas.
“It’s enough that it’s just the two of us, I believe.”
A dangerous creakiness enters Dean’s chest. Yeah, it’s the two of them. He’s finally fuckin’ got someone who wants just the two of them.
Oh! Can you write a Spencer x reader fix based on Dress by Taylor Swift? I feel like it fits it so well, like hiding the relationship from the team/friends to lovers? Love your work!
Thank you darling! ❤️ italics are flashback
Our secret moments in your crowded room
They've got no idea about me and you
There is an indentation in the shape of you
Made your mark on me, a golden tattoo
“She’s going to be ok you know?” you spoke, snapping Spencer out of his thoughts.
He looked up at you, wide eyed and scared. It broke your heart to see him like this.
“She hates me,” he sniffed back tears.
“No she doesn’t.” you took hold of his hand. “She’ll understand, it’s the best place for her.”
You couldn’t comprehend what he must be going through. No eighteen year old should have to make the decision about whether or not his mother should be committed.
“I hope so.” his bottom lip quivered as though he might cry but he managed to keep his tears at bay.
“We’ll go visit her this weekend ok?” you squeezed his hand, shuffling closer to him on his bed.
“I’d like that.” he nodded.
All of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation
My hands are shaking from holding back from you (ah, ah, ah)
All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting
My hands are shaking from holding back from all this (ha, ha, ha, ha)
You wanted to kiss him so badly. It really wouldn’t have been hard to, he was right there and his lips looked so inviting.
But he was your best friend and he had never given you an inclination he liked you in that way. He’d never given any inclination of liking anyone in that way.
You pushed your own desires aside, not wanting to ruin the friendship you had built up over the years on a whim.
But god his lips felt as though they were calling to you, just begging to be kissed.
But how long were you supposed to ignore your own needs? Honestly, you didn’t know how much longer you could just push them aside.
Spencer Reid had lips that needed to be kissed. And by you.
Say my name and everything just stops
I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off (ha, ha, ha)
Carve your name into my bedpost
'Cause I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Two weeks later and his mood had lifted a little. You’d been to visit his mom a couple of times and each time she was getting more used to the sanitarium which allowed Spencer to sleep better and the weight of his decision weighed on him a little less.
Tomorrow you were leaving Vegas for college in New York. Honestly you had thought about not going. Because the thought of leaving Spencer almost broke your heart in two.
“You look nice Y/N.” he smiled a little at you as he spoke.
You felt your cheeks burning as you played with the hem of your new dress.
“Thank you Spencer.” you swallowed.
You wanted to make your move before it was too late. What if you went off to college and he forgot all about you? You wanted him to have a lasting memory of you.
You’d bought a new dress and spent ages on your hair and makeup. Just to hear Spencer say you looked nice was worth it.
But you needed more. You needed him to know how you pined for him for so long.
But the words got lost in your throat somewhere and they never came out.
When he hugged you before you left you felt a piece of your heart break off and entwine with his.
And you’d never fully get it back.
Inescapable, I'm not even gonna try
And if I get burned, at least we were electrified
I'm spilling wine in the bathtub, you kiss my face and we're both drunk
Everyone thinks that they know us, but they know nothing about
The music was loud and the room was crowded. You threw back glasses of wine like they were going out of style.
Your girlfriends laughed at another joke one of them told that you’d missed due to the volume of noise but you laughed anyway.
“It’s your turn Y/N,” one of the girls yelled to be heard over the music.
“I think I’m going to sit this one out.” you shook your head.
“No way!” another said. “It’s my bachelorette party! And you’re the only single one of the lot of us so we’re all going to live vicariously through you.”
You sighed, knowing resistance was futile.
“Fine.” you rolled your eyes. “Who?”
The girls looked around, conferred for a moment and the pointed across the bar.
The man they’d chosen had his back to you. He was tall, skinny and had a mess of brown curls.
“Sweater vest.” one of the girls said. “He’s your target.”
The game was simple. You went up to a stranger of their choosing and without saying a word to them, you had to plant one on them.
You downed the remains of your glass of wine and put the glass down on the bar.
You smoothed down your dress, inhaled a long breath and then headed over.
You heard the girls behind you cheering you even over the music.
This man was about to get the surprise of his life. So were you, you just didn’t know it yet.
His friends noticed you coming just as you reached him but he didn’t have time to turn to see you before you grabbed him by the shoulders and pressed your lips hard against his.
All of this silence and patience, pining in anticipation
My hands are shaking from holding back from you (ah, ah, ah)
All of this silence and patience, pining and desperately waiting
My hands are shaking from holding back from all this (ha, ha, ha, ha)
He froze up completely at your kiss which was completely understandable.
His friends stared on in confusion.
When you pulled back you went to speak. You went to explain to him that you were sorry but it was a dumb bachelorette party dare.
But your words got lost when you looked into those eyes.
“Spencer?”
“Y/N?”
“Oh my god.” You didn’t know what to do.
So you ran.
Say my name and everything just stops
I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Take it off (ha, ha, ha)
Carve your name into my bedpost
'Cause I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
“Hey you.” you smiled a little awkwardly as you approached him. “Two years is a long time not to visit.”
“Yeah I know, I’m sorry. It does work both ways though. You’ve not been back to Vegas since you left.”
“Ah but I have the excuse of being busy with college.”
“I am working on my third PhD Y/N.” He laughed.
“Fair enough.” You toyed with the hem of your dress. Another new one, just for Spencer’s visit. “I missed you Spence.”
“I missed you too.” He smiled shyly. “You look as beautiful as ever.”
Beautiful. He called you beautiful.
Was this your chance?
“Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself Mister. Or sorry, is It Doctor now?”
“You can call me whatever you want.” He swallowed and if you weren’t mistaken, he’d moved closer to you.
You moved closer to him too, now so close you could feel his breath on your face.
Year’s worth of longing rushed to the surface. You couldn’t hold back any longer. You needed to kiss him.
Clearly he felt the same as he was edging even closer. His eyes closed. This was it. He was going to kiss you. Finally you were going to know what it was like to kiss Spencer Reid.
And then, he pulled back.
“Uhm…” he scratched the back of his head. “So, are you going to show me around New York?”
Flashback when you met me
Your buzzcut and my hair bleached
Even in my worst times, you could see the best of me
Flashback to my mistakes
My rebounds, my earthquakes
Even in my worst lies, you saw the truth of me
And I woke up just in time
Now I wake up by your side
My one and only, my lifeline
I woke up just in time
Now I wake up by your side
My hands shake, I can't explain this (ha, ha, ha, ha)
You shyly clung to your dad’s side on the lawn of your new house, chewing your lip frantically.
“New neighbors, say hello Spencer.” Mrs Reid motioned her son forward. He had large, thick rimmed glasses that seemed to take up his whole face.
“Hello.” he gave you an awkward wave.
“Hi,” you returned the gesture.
“This is my daughter Y/N.” your dad introduced you.
“I like your dress.” Spencer smiled shyly at you.
You felt yourself blushing and found yourself playing with the hem of your dress.
“Thank you Spencer.”
Say my name and everything just stops
I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Carve your name into my bedpost
'Cause I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Spencer found you hiding out the back of the bar, completely mortified. Of all the men in all the bars in the all the world you could have kissed, it happened to be your childhood best friend.
Why was the world so cruel?
“Y/N?”
Hearing your name from his lips made you shudder. It had been a long time since your name had sounded that good.
“Hi,” you chewed your lip. “Look I am so sorry about that. I had no idea that was you and it was a dumb bacherlorette party dare-”
“It’s ok.” he smiled sweetly at you, coming closer to you. “It only took us nearly twenty years but we finally had our first kiss.”
You couldn’t help but laugh.
“It’s really good to see you. What has it been, ten years?”
“Nine years, seven months and two weeks.”
“Wow.” you chuckled. “I forgot about that eidetic memory of yours.”
He was really close now, you had backed yourself up against the wall outside the bar.
“You look as beautiful as ever.” he whispered.
Before you could respond, Spencer pressed his lips to yours.
It was completely different to the kiss you’d just shared in the bar. He took hold of your face and pressed his whole body against yours. His tongue worked its way into your mouth.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and melted into the kiss.
It was all you’d ever wanted. Spencer Reid’s lips on yours.
And it felt better than you ever dreamed it would.
You were both panting when the kiss broke, smiling at each other.
He ran his hands down your sides, taking you all in.
“I really like your dress.” his eyes turned dark. “But I think it would look better when I’m taking it off.”
There is an indentation
In the shape of you
Only bought this dress so you could take it off
Meet the Parents Pt. 2
Breaking Point - Atsumu & Osamu
TW implied non con, nsfw
Your parents are already pissed.
Apparently the school called when you didn’t show up to your classes after lunch.
In all fairness, you’d tried. Twenty minutes in the girls bathroom, gripping the edge of the sink with shaking hands, staring at your reflection. There’s hickeys on your neck, a bite mark that the collar of your jacket isn’t quite high enough to hide. Your hair’s mussed, lips swollen and red - but even if you fix all that and wipe away your tears, you don’t think you have the strength to walk back into the classroom knowing that they’ll be there waiting for you.
So you don’t go back.
Both of your parents are still at work by the time you make it home, unlocking the house with the spare key hidden under the base of the potted geraniums on the porch. It’s a good thing, because you don’t think you have it in you to try and lie to them right now, but admitting the truth out loud-
‘F-fuck, darlin’, you keep suckin’ me in like that and I’m not sure I’m gonna last.’
‘You gonna cum for us, baby? Yeah, gonna cum all nice ‘n pretty for us, aren’tcha?”
- is somehow even worse. Instead you choose to shower, the water turned so hot that it’s almost scalding, but you barely notice, sitting with your arms wrapped around your knees on the tile floor as the steaming water gushes over you. You don’t know how long you stay there, motionless, shaking, but at some point the water runs cold and you have to force your aching muscles to move.
Both of your parents are waiting fo you when you get out, your mother practically fuming, ams folded across her chest, glaring daggers at you.
“I’m sorry,” you mumble by way of greeting. There’s no point in trying to deny it, they already know that you ditched - there’s no wriggling out of this one. “I wasn’t feeling good.”
Your mother huffs, raising an unimpressed eyebrow, “Well then why didn’t you go to the school nurse, sweetheart? Or tell somebody - anybody - that you were leaving?! You had us worried sick, you know. This behaviour really isn’t like you.”
She continues to rant for almost ten whole minutes while you stand there and take it without a word. What can you say?
“I’m sorry, it won’t happen again.” The words are robotic, but they seem to do the trick.
She relents with a sigh, softening as she takes in the sorry state of you. A hand is pressed to your forehead, eyes studying you closely, “Are you feeling better at least, or do I need to call the doctor?”
You force as much of a smile as you can muster onto our face, “A little.”
But it’s your father, watching from the kitchen, who frowns. “You sure about that, little one? You’re not looking so good...”
“I’m okay, promise... I just think I need to rest for a bit.”
He doesn’t believe you - you can tell from the furrowing of his brow, but he just nods. “Alright, well if you say so. Why don’t you go have a lie down for a bit, we’ll call you when dinner’s ready.”
-
Sleep is beyond you, but you lie down anyway, throwing on your headphones and trying to drown out everything else - the intrusive thoughts that wont leave you alone, the phantom hands hands you can still feel touching you, groping you, when an awful thought occurs to you.
They both came inside of you... what if... what if you get pregnant?
Nausea turns your stomach and you’re rolling out of bed and sprinting for the door, just as somebody knocks on your door. “Sweetheart?” Your dad. Like a deer caught in headlights you freeze, hand outstretched for the door knob. “Are you feeling any better?”
Swallowing down the bile you can feel creeping up your throat, you open the door. “Mhm. Is dinner ready?”
There’s an odd look in his eyes as he appraises you, and you can only pray to god that the hoodie you’ve thrown on is enough to cover the marks your loving soulmates so generously left behind. “Not exactly. You have some visitors, your mother asked me to come and get you.”
Your dad knows your friends. Your dad likes your friends, which makes the agitated expression on his face a little perplexing. Nevertheless, you find yourself nodding, following him when he turns on his heel to make his way back into the living room.
The sound of laughter reaches you before you see them. Your mother, head thrown back, a hand over her chest - giggling - and standing beside her in your living room, fresh from their practice, is the twins.
You blanch as two sets of identical brown eyes fall to you. You ignore the phantom tugging around your pinkies, ignore the blood draining from your face and simply focus on trying not to collapse into a fit of tears as one after the other, they smirk.
“Honey! Isn’t this so sweet, your boys decided to come check in on you!”
You can’t blame her for the wide, almost devious grin she’s sporting. To her this is a sign that after years of bullying and bad attitudes, your soulmates have finally decided that they actually want to make amends and try for a fresh start. This is all she’s wanted for you for years.
“Yeah, we were real worried when ya just ran off on us after lunch,” Osamu says.
“Ya left in such’a hurry you forgot yer bag. Thought we’d bring it over for ya,” Atsumu adds, hooded eyes glittering sharply.
All three of them are looking towards you expectantly as Atsumu holds it out and it takes every ounce of strength you possess to force your legs to move forward and take it from him.
“T-thank you,” you mutter, and Atsumu’s shark like grin widens.
“Anythin’ for you, sweetheart.”
A hand comes down on your shoulder and you visibly flinch, but it’s just your dad, standing behind you glaring daggers at the twins.
Your mother is all but oblivious to the tension in the room, beaming as she stares between you and your soulmates as if she can already hear wedding bells.
“You boys are so thoughtful, aren’t they sweetheart?” She turns to you with expectant eyes, and you nod stiffly. “Why don’t the two of you stay for dinner, hm? You must be starving after training so hard!”
Your stomach lurches, but before you can even utter a word your dad speaks for you.
“Absolutely not.”
The temperature in the room drops. Your mother looks like she’s about three seconds away from throttling him. Even the twins, usually the first to try and stir the pot, are unusually silent as your parents stare each other down.
“What do you mean, honey? Don’t you think-”
“I think,” he says, cutting her off smoothly, “that you’re being a little too quick to forget that it’s not your decision whether those little shits are welcome here.”
Gently, he turns you around to face him. When you were seven, he was quick to laugh off the twins antics as ‘boys being boys’. He got a little less tolerant when you started coming home crying more often than not, when scraped knees and pulled pigtails meant that you’d withdraw in on yourself. Maybe he’d spent one too many nights comforting his little girl when you tearfully asked him why your soulmates hated you. Your mother might be willing to let bygones be bygones if she thought it would bring you happiness in the long run, but your dad was less forgiving.
He eyes you for a long moment, brows knitted together. “Do you want them to stay, little one?”
He’d back down if you asked, you know he would. He might never particularly like the twins, might always hold a grudge for what they’d done to you, even if you ever found it within yourself to forgive them. He doesn’t even know the worst of it and there isn’t a doubt in your mind that if he ever found out, he’d actually kill them.
But if you smiled right now and told him that you wanted them to stay, he’d hold his tongue - because he loves you. You swallow, eyes darting back to where the twins stand watching.
You know you’ll pay for it later, tomorrow when you’re stuck with them once more, but this is your house. For now at least, they can’t touch you here.
“No.”
All That Remains
Summary: Dean has more than one secret that he’s keeping from the reader, but he’s ready to tell the truth.
Characters: Dean x Reader
Word Count: 2296
Warnings: non con (discussed not depicted)
A/N: This is a one of my earliest fics that I first posted on another blog.
Tumblr media
Dean has nightmares. He's had them his whole life. You know it, and Sam knows it. Tonight's nightmare was particularly bad. You were ripped from your sleep by the sound of Dean yelling down the hall.
Instinct took over; you jumped out of bed and started running toward Dean's room. You had to get to him. Dean was your best friend; he needed you.
You met Sam, who was running from the other direction, outside Dean's door. You looked at each other briefly. Dean's voice was coming clearly through the door. "No. I won't do it! Get away!" You looked at the door, swallowed, and looked back at Sam. "Let me." He barely hesitated before he nodded, backed away a couple of steps, then turned and went back to his room.
You opened the door slowly. It was dark in the room, too dark for you to see Dean until your eyes adjusted to the darkness. As you got closer to the bed you saw the death grip his hand had on the covers and the pained expression on his face. He kept saying "no,” and you made a decision. You pulled back the covers on the other side of the bed and climbed in next to him.
"Dean, Dean." You called his name softly and then more loudly. Your hand reached out to touch his shoulder as you continued to call his name. He awoke with a start and sat up in bed breathing fast and hard. You moved behind him and put a hand on his back to settle him. "Dean?"
He turned and looked at you with wide eyes. Recognition dawned on his face. He knew it was you, and he reached for you. "Y/N." You took his large muscular frame in your arms and held him tightly to you. Dean could handle himself in any situation. He had faced every kind of monster there was and won, but now alone in the dark with you he was vulnerable.
You eased him back against the pillows with you. "Come on, Dean. It's okay." You tucked him up against you, laying his head on your shoulder and continued to whisper to him as you ran your fingers soothingly through his short, soft hair. He had a handful of your nightshirt in his hand. "Stay, Y/N. Don't leave me. Please."
"I will. I'm here. After a while, his breathing evened out slow and steady; he was sleeping. You kissed the top of his head. It wouldn't be easy for you, holding him like this, considering you had been in love with him since you were sixteen.
The next night at bedtime, you showed up in Dean's room. "Y/N, what are you....”
"I'm making sure you sleep at night; I'm being here for you. That's what best friends do. So, make room for me, Dean, I'm staying." That’s how you started sleeping in the same bed with Dean every night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For three months you had been sharing a bed with Dean, and it was very comfortable, except for the times it wasn't. Those were the times you caught yourself staring at his lips while he was sleeping, or the mornings you could feel his erection poking into your leg or your back. You dealt with your feelings because your presence helped him sleep, made him feel safe somehow.
It was bound to happen eventually; the next bad nightmare came. The two of you had fallen asleep facing each other with your legs entwined, and Dean was holding your hands. You woke up with him squeezing your hands tightly and screaming "No!" again. You squeezed his hands back and started calling his name.
His eyes popped open, and when he saw you; they filled with tears. He pulled one of his hands from yours and quickly tried to brush the tears away. You gently pulled his hand away from his eyes as you spoke softly to him. "Cry, Dean. Just cry. Let it all out." You held him while the tears flowed. Finally, when he was all cried out, he said in the quietest voice you’d ever heard him use. "I'd never hurt you."
You kissed his still wet cheek."I know, Dean. I know you wouldn't."
He looked at you with haunted eyes. "You're the last person I'd hurt, Y/N.".
You held his cheek in your hand. "Dean, are you ready to tell me what you've been dreaming about? Is it Purgatory? Are you reliving having the mark again?"
He shook his head, looked into your eyes, and then all the way down your face before running one of his hands through your hair. His voice caught as he said, “I've been dreaming about hell. Being in that secret prison made me think about it again. A lot."
Your heart tightened in your chest. The weeks Dean had been locked up had been horrible. You hadn’t been able to eat, sleep, or concentrate on anything. Worry had consumed you, but he was here now. Now, you could comfort him. "Dean, I'm sorry. It must have been so awful being trapped in that place."
He sat up and ran his hand down his face."Don't be sorry for me; you don't know what I did." He was crying again.
You were by his side in an instant, close to him so he could feel your presence. "Dean, you can tell me. You can tell me anything. You know you can.”
“You told me about the first time you got drunk, and it made you sick. You told me about taking the Impala without asking your dad as soon as you got your driver’s license and getting arrested because he’d reported it stolen.”
It hurt to say this next one, but it proved your point. “You told me when you lost your virginity."
Dean laughed a humorless laugh and said almost to himself, "Yeah, that should have been you."
It was quiet, but you heard it. In a whisper you asked, "Dean, what did you say?"
"I said you should have been my first; then maybe I wouldn't have spent my life chasing women, comparing every single one of them to you. Maybe I wouldn't have spent my life drinking and being reckless because I didn't have the one thing I wanted.  If I had done things different, things might have turned out different. Maybe I wouldn't have gone to hell at all.”
"Oh, Dean." You put your hand on the side of his face. He put one of his over it and pulled it down to his lap holding it there just looking at your palm. "I did horrible things in hell,Y/N." His jaw clenched. "I did horrible things to you." He looked at you with tears in his eyes threatening to spill again.
"Alistair knew how to break me, Y/N. When nothing else worked, he used you. He threatened to do everything he had done to me to you while I watched. He told me the only way to stop him was for me to r...rape you. And...I did. I did, Y/N. I did it." He was crying freely now and could hardly get his words out.
"You begged me to stop. You begged, and you cried. I hurt you, Y/N. I hurt you while that sadistic son of a bitch watched. He knew it would break me because I loved you. I couldn't do it anymore, and I damn sure wasn't going to let him touch you."
You closed your hand over his and held it tightly. "That wasn't me, Dean. You didn't hurt me. Alistair just made it seem like it was me to torture you."
He was shaking now. “It was your voice, your body, your tears, your blood. Your blood was on me. How could I do that? I love you."
That was the second time he'd said it. Your emotions were whirling, your heart was fluttering, while at the same time Dean was in so much pain you had to do something.  You took his face in your hands.
 "Look at me, Dean. You were in hell. You were trying to protect me from something worse. You have never hurt me; you won’t ever hurt me. I know that. I trust you." You leaned in and kissed him, slowly, gently, and deliberately.
You were moving your tongue slowly around his and sending a message. "It's time to make a different memory, Dean." You lifted his t-shirt over his head.
Dean brushed his thumb over your cheek; sadness still filled his eyes. "I can't let you do this, Y/N, not like this. I won't let you have sex with me to make me feel better.”
"That's not why I'm doing it, Dean. I'm doing it because I love you too.” His hand stilled on your face, and his eyes connected to yours.
You held his gaze. “It's time to replace all that pain with the truth. Kiss me, Dean."
His kiss was gentle and passionate; his lips met yours with wonder and certainty. Then Dean kissed along your chin, moving toward your neck. You turned your head to give him better access. He reached down to the hem of your nightshirt, pulling it up over your head and leaving you only in your panties.
Dean kissed your shoulders and your breasts. He swirled his tongue around each nipple, sucking them until they were tight, and you were aching between your legs. He kissed his way down your stomach until he reached the waistband of your panties, then he raised up to look at you.
You looked into his eyes. There was hardly any green left in them at all; they were blown with desire. You nodded and said "yes,”  but only the slightest ghost of a whisper came out. He took his sleep pants off first, then your panties.
You had imagined his body a million times and never done it justice.  His shoulders were broad; his abs were just right. They were visible without being too much. His cock was already hardening, and it was big. You wanted it inside you; you wanted to feel that stretch.
Dean lowered himself back down over you so he could kiss you as he tested your opening with one of his fingers. He gingerly pushed in his index finger to the first knuckle. You were already squirming beneath him. He felt your wetness and pushed his finger the rest of the way in. "Yes, yes, yes." You kept saying it; you wouldn't let him doubt how much you wanted him and just how okay this was.
He added another finger slowly pumping them in and out. You were arching your hips up to meet his fingers at this point. "More, Dean. I need to feel you. I've waited so long for you. Please." He pulled his fingers out and lined his cock up with your entrance.  Slowly, he pushed just the tip inside you, and you gasped.
Dean froze. "Y/N, are you okay?"
"I'm good. It’s okay. More than that. Show me you love me, Dean. Show me." He pushed halfway into you, then stopped so you could get used to the feel of him. He wasn't moving, but just feeling him inside you was all it took. Your walls were clenching around him, and your legs were shaking.
Your mind had one thought running through it. "Dean. This is Dean. It's Dean." And you came with him part way inside you and not thrusting at all. He kissed you through your orgasm, still hard inside you.
"I do love you, Y/N." He pushed into you a little more. Inch by slow, controlled inch he buried himself all the way inside you. It occurred to you then what he was doing. He was treating you like you were a virgin, and you were tonight. You were his virgin. He wanted to make you forget too, forget there had ever been anyone but him.
Finally, he started to move inside you, and you rolled your hips against him. His thrusts became deeper and eventually more erratic. He was close. "Let go, Dean. Come for me. Give all of you to me." You felt the hot spurt of his release inside you, and you were tightening around him, coming again yourself which prolonged his orgasm.
Dean collapsed on top of you and rolled off to the side. You turned toward him and put your head on his chest. He wrapped both of his arms around you. Your lips trailed a line of kisses across his chest. His first words surprised you. "Was that okay?" You traced figure eights on his stomach.
You lay your hand in the center of his chest over his heart. "Dean, it was incredible. There's nothing hidden between us now. I gave myself to you. Willingly. Wanting you, needing you, loving you. Couldn't you feel that?"
He was playing with your hair. "Yeah, I felt it. I just can't believe it. I can't believe you'd want me, that you'd... love me. You make me feel like there's good in me even after... everything."
You lifted your head to look at him. "Because there is, Dean. So many people, and non-people, have tried to make you believe that isn't true, and you believed it. I'm here to remind you all that is a lie. Right now, what we're feeling between us is the truth. Love is the truth. All those horrible memories will fade away. When they do, you'll still have my love; I'll have yours.”
 He kissed you, accepting your words. After that you never left Dean's bed, and he never dreamed about hurting you in hell again.

BALLOON ANIMAL ARTIST JK I JUST FEEL LIKE HE WOULD BE REALLY GOOD AT IT AND MAKE YOU A FLOWER THEN ASK YOU ON A DATE
baby i love u and your big sexy brain <3 welcome to waikiki meets hospital playlist dynamic ft. balloon artist!jk
“who’s a good baby? is it you? iS IT YOU????”
you’d be the first one to admit that you had an exhausting horrible night
being a nurse sUCKS the life out of you and as much as it’s fulfilling, you almost always feel the urge to admit yourself to the ER for being extremely fatigued
it’s all worth it!! it should be
after all, paying for a mansion in an exclusive village and sharing it with your friends doeS warrant some elbow grease
seokjin works in wall street and sometimes he comes home crying but it’s okay because you do have an expensive fridge that everyone worked overtime for <3
hoseok’s a veterinary assistant and is your trusty friend who always sends in pictures of the animals that come in to cheer you up while at work
namjoon’s a painter by passion and accountant by profession!! he does only come out with a few pieces at a time but mAN does it rake in the money
jimin’s a flight attendant and does everyone the pleasure of securing either free or discounted tickets, and bringing home unused airline towels to dry off the dishes!!
lastly, taehyung’s someone you can call a former trustfund baby or somewhat :O the last big chunk of money he spent from his fund was the downpayment and security deposit for this mansion!!!
it’s a long story and he’s currently all over the place but he’s finding regular jobs!! his latest gig was working at a high-end ice cream place but he immediately quit once he learned that he needed to put his back into it and not just scoop up ice cream like he did in his dreams :((
most importantly, taehyung has a baby :-)
he’s a dad!! a single one at that
it’s truly a LONG story but the bottomline is that he has nabi, his cutest little dumpling!! and he has all of you, his friends who didn’t hesitate to step up as nabi’s parents in a way too even if he didn’t ask any of you
you all love the chunky monkey so much that you’ve all taken the liberty to call him your baby at times and tae doesn’t even mind!! nabi’s so lucky (he hopes) to have him as a dad and his friends as his cool uncles and aunt
nevertheless, you indeed had a bad night working the night shift and came home to nabi’s birthday party just in time!! :D
he turned two years old at midnight and even if you weren’t physically present at the mansion like the guys were (they requested their leaves two months earlier) because of being understaffed, you were able to see him and tae blow out multiple cakes that each one bought him
seeing him giggle at your arms just by doing the bare minimum makes you full already <3
all your exhaustion is melted away because it’s your favorite toddler’s birthday party!! the party that you all insisted on shelling out for that made tae almost cry bc of how much you all love his son
“jimin i am not sewing your forehead up when you end up falling in the wrong angle,” you roll your eyes at him who’s currently doing backflips in the bouncy house that managed to fit in the mansion
“hoseok can!!” he yells back and backflips twice in a row, much to the actual children’s amusement and your worry
“i will NOT stitch you up! the thread i have is for the pregnant dogs only!!!”
everyone’s entertaining guests left and right, including taehyung who’s the dad of the little man of the hour :D
he keeps pointing at nabi who’s currently in your arms every ten seconds and it’s now your job to make him giggle every single time to wave at the people
“what do you want, monkey? do you want some ice cream? i won’t tell your dad,” you eagerly ask the wide-eyed baby in your arms, pointing at the ice cream cart that namjoon probably ordered
“no thank you!” nabi cutely aND politely declines, his head shaking no and his speech and pronunciation getting clearer day by day
most of the time though he says it like tHANK YEWWWW and you would immediately grin every time because it’s the cutest thing ever
“hmm, look at that!! face painting!! do you want some butterflies?”
you point at yet another station that you guess seokjin arranged, knowing that at some point into this party, he’d all drag you in here to get matching marks or something lol
nabi once again declines, his eyes searching around that makes you do the same on what you could do to entertain him
he has the same habit down like taehyung and loudly gASPS, pointing his finger and almost shrieking in excitement
“bawoo — balloon!!! balloon!!!”
:O
it is now your life purpose to walk as fast as you could to this balloon station with nabi bouncing up and down your arm in excitement
jungkook’s having the time of his life here :D
normally he’s mostly called in the holiday season and occasionally at big birthday parties (the one where like two sides of the family share every baby’s first birthday party lmao) throughout the year!!
but he’s never had a client who requested him for a singular birthday party!! let alone at a hOUSE
ok maybe that was an understatement
he means a mansion
if he’s being quite honest, the mr. park jimin he spoke to on the phone sounded too kind that he just mistakened him for a party planner or something
he immediately said yes because he had no on-site bookings for that day, or even the week perhaps, and expected to stroll into a carnival in the middle of an executive village
aha :D jungkook is wrong :D
jimin met him by the front door wherein a lot of people are already crossing paths such as catering and not to mention the bouncy house you cAN’T miss, and just briefly touched in on the situation
“oh no, i’m not the dad, man — but thanks!! i’m his uncle. nabi’s dad is my friend, taehyung. and me and my friends, including taehyung, all live here. we’re all like family, basically.”
jungkook saw the other stations invited and he expected that his would have less children y’know?? bouncy house, ice cream station, facepainting, hotdog cart aND magic show???? yeah <3
but god is he wrong
the children are in a single-file line for hIM and his balloon artistry!!! the requests range from pretzels to pirate hats to chandeliers with the bulbs as smiley faces!!!
he’s managed to do all of them so far and he’s now made a decent dent on the line of children waiting for him
jungkook is a happy and content balloon artist :D
“EXCUSE ME! BIRTHDAY BOY COMING THROUGH!!”
oh my god what was that
you’re walking at full-speed and holler out, making sure to emphasize birthday boy because nuh-uh you and nabi will nOT line up for his own party <3 thank you very much
the children coo and the older kids coax the other ones to make way for the both of you to the front of the line, immediately plopping to a mini chair in front of the guy
“hiiii!!”
nabi drawls politely and waves his hand, making you do the same
“what a cute little thing,” the guy in front of you coos and it’s his voice that perhaps makes you melt a little, just seeing the top of his hair for now because he’s crouching down to be eye-level with nabi, “what can i do for you, little buddy?”
he toothily grins and straightens his posture, raising his eyes to look at who’s holding nabi in place and-
???????????????????
jungkook literally stops breathing for a second
“h-hi!! what can i do for you today?” jungkook squeaks, his eyes even more wide and curious to look at the prettiest girl he’s ever seen in his life
you’re sure that you were gonna stammer once you open your mouth so you don’t at all, instead focusing on nabi who’s on your lap
“what do you want, monkey?”
“nabi please! i want nABI!!! nabi nabi nabiiiiiiiiii-“
“yes. he wants nabi, please.”
jungkook nods fervently, his hands about to pluck ballons from his kit before he realizes to ask
“does he want his face? or like, his name? what colors do you want, bud?”
he’s not the least bit bothered at the choices in his head because you’re widening your eyes on what could this guy dO with just balloons, knowing to yourself that even pumping one is difficult work already
“oh! he wants nabi,” you clarify and jungkook tilts his head, mouth slightly agape at to what you’re trying to get at, “butterfly, i mean. nabi knows that his name means butterfly and he likes them a lot! don’t you, monkey?”
nabi nods so hard that it almost gives him a headache and jungkook wants to facepalm himself to the grave
“r-right! why didn’t i think of that?? because nabi means.... nabi....... right!! sorry, oh my god. o-oh! i meant oh my gosh. i uhm-...”
he’s a mess and he knows it, letting his hands take over and grab the same theme colors of blue and lavender from his bag to start on his work
kook tries not to lift his head up ever so often because you’d find him out instantly that he’s looking at you
so what he does instead is peer and coo at nabi every few seconds and tHEN look up at you because you also giggle whenever he giggles
he’s probably feeling pressure with the way your eyes are set on him too and what he’s doing that he pOPS a balloon right with his hands
“sorry, sorry! did i spook you?”
jungkook’s worried because he heard a collective gasp from the kids around him but his main priority is the birthday boy AND you
nabi’s shoulders rose and that’s about it
he shakes his head to himself, looking at you who’s carrying a curious gaze on your face that looks amused
“sorry. i-it’s just you’re so pretty and-“
he’s embarrassed himself in front of a pretty girl and her son and-
wait a second
the color just dRAINS from his face and he’s about to quit at the second
“oh my god i am so sorry. y-you must be nabi’s mother. you’re mr. taehyung’s-“
“friend!! i’m y/n, i’m just taehyung’s friend,” you interject quickly because you cannot believe that pretty boy called you pretty, and at the next breath thought you were taehyung’s wife, “and nabi’s my nephew. we’re all just friends who live together!! i have no boyfriend, if that’s what you’re thinking.”
...
....
yeah maybe you embarrassed yourself this time
you may have said too much information to the balloon artist but jungkook’s just staring at you fondly
and nabi’s switching his gaze between the two of you and claps his hands to snap the two of you out of it lmao
kook chuckles to himself and he cannot stop smiling, even when he’s tying the last balloon to nabi’s butterfly
“there you go, cutie. happy birthday!!” he hands nabi the hUGE butterfly he just made but the sheer difference of how big it is makes the toddler even more happy, hugging it to his chest
jungkook watches you pepper kisses on nabi’s cheeks and that launches him into quickly pulling out balloons while your eyes are deviated from him, hands twisting and turning like his wHOLE LIFE depended on it
“my name’s jungkook, by the way,” he calls you when you’re just about to stand up, smiling giddily at you, “thought you should know.”
cute :-)
before you could thank him, he extends his arm and your mind recognizes the familiar shape which makes you smile instantly
jungkook made you a flower balloon <3
“i think i’ll remember you, jungkook.”
you laugh as the only thing you can smell from it is latex, the huge flower staring at you right in the face
jungkook sheepishly blushes, pursing his lips in happiness
“i’m free whenever you’re free — f-for a date, y’know? just so you could remember me more.”

Pick and Mix Collection
A selection of Little Tracy fics for @gordonthegreatesttracy and @psychoseal
All can be found with other short stories in my Pick & Mix Collection on AO3 & FFNet: CreativeGirl29
School Reports. Aged 8.
Scott Tracy:
Scott is a bright young boy, who is extremely popular with all his classmates. He is always first to put himself forward for team challenges and is a natural team leader. However, Scott tends to be impulsive and rush into an activity or challenge, which on occasions as cost him a higher mark. Scott excels in English, Geography and Physical Education but tends to struggle in maths.
John Tracy:
John is a quiet, introspective and intelligent young man, who excels in Science, Maths, English and Information Technology. John as the potential to go far in life and could be moved up a grade if he was to apply himself to what he once referred to as the ‘boring subjects’ and stop correcting myself and my other colleagues when we are trying to teach.
Virgil Tracy:
Virgil is a lovely, thoughtful boy, who always listens in class, speaks when he is spoken to, and on occasions has gone out of his way to support other classmates when they are struggling. Virgil has a gift for art, music and history. He also recently earned top marks when we taught first-aid in his class. However, I would like to bring to your attention Virgil’s tendency to day dream when he is not taking part in one of his favourite subjects.
Gordon Tracy:
Gordon is a conundrum and seems to have two sides to him. On the one side, you have the sweet boy who will always be there for his friends, excels in physical education, especially swimming and did surprisingly well when we did our big baking day. However, the other side of Gordon has a habit of constantly chatting in class, despite being asked to be quiet and as unfortunately become known as the school clown. If Gordon were to apply himself in all his work instead of drawing pictures of himself as a fish, he could gain good marks in all his classes.
Alan Tracy:
Alan is a smart boy who as always got a smile on his face. When he is interested in a subject, or as been caught by an idea he is an absolute pleasure to teach. However, like his brother before him, he tends to chat in class, and on many occasions, has had his portable computer console confiscated when he has been found playing on it, instead of learning. Alan struggles in History but excels in science and maths. I would also like to bring to your attention Alan’s report on ‘Our Heroes.’ All the children in his class decided to write about a celebrity, sports personality or historical figure. Instead, Alan wrote a fantastic and touching report where he named his older brother John as his hero and who he would most like to be like when he grows up.

STAR BOY:
"John you've been told not to run in the house." His father complained, catching his 4-year-old son in his arms.
"I'm not John." John answered with a serious face.
"Oh, you're not?" Jeff remarked, observing the cape John had attempted to make out of his comfort blanket. "Well, I must say, you certainly look like my John!"
"Shush! Daddy." John whispered. No one can know my secret ident…" John paused, thinking about the word he was struggling to say. "Ident…"
Jeff smiled. "Identity."
John grinned. "Yeah, my secret identity."
"So, who are you then?" Jeff inquired curiously.
"I'm Star Boy." John shouted, as he managed to struggle free and started running around in circles.
Jeff let out a chuckle at his son's exuberance. "So, Star Boy. What powers do you have?"
"Fly in space." John cried with joy.
"And what's your current mission Jo… I mean Star Boy?"
John ground himself to a sudden halt. "Find baby Virgie!" He stated with a thoughtful look.
"Virgil." Jeff corrected. "And he's not missing, he's nice and safe in your mummy's tummy."
John stared at his dad in confusion. "But I heard you and mummy say that he was late, and then mummy said if he didn't turn up soon she would…"
"Okay, John." Jeff said cutting John off. He would have to have a word to Lucille about what John had overheard. He knew she would be mortified but John seemed to have exceptional hearing and they both knew that their boy was very bright for his age. Jeff held his arms out for his current youngest son. John happily ran into them, and let himself be pulled up onto his father's lap. "Now, Virgil is still safe in your mummy's tummy, the reason he's late is because your mum has made it so comfortable in there that he doesn't want to leave yet."
"But I want to find him, cause then I'll get to be big brother like Scotty." John frowned.
Jeff pulled John into a warm hug. "And you will be a brilliant big brother just like Scott." He assured him.
As Jeff held John tightly in his arms, a shout from his mother came from in the kitchen, followed by his oldest son running into the room.
"Daddy, Grandma said to tell you mummy's waters broken!" Scott panted.
Jeff pulled himself to his feet, keeping John firmly in one arm, and taking Scott's hand with the other. "Well, my Star Boy." Jeff said, looking at John with pride. "It looks like your mission was successful!"
"It was?" John asked with a puzzled expression.
Jeff beamed as he stood John next to Scott, who automatically took his little brother's hand in his. "Yes, you did!" He added, with a concerned look towards the kitchen as he heard his mother and Lucille call for him once more. "Looks like baby Virgil is on his way!"
Several hours later:
John grinned with joy, as with his mother's help, he held his new baby brother in his arms. "Hey, Virgie." He said softly. "I'm John, your big brother… And my secret is I'm also Star Boy." He whispered. "I helped find you today!" John looked at Virgil who gazed at him with his big eyes. "And my next mission is to be your big brother." He said with a contented sigh.
**
4 little brothers.
12 year old Scott Tracy stretched out in his bed, enjoying the warmth from is duvet on a cold winters night. Yes, this was his time. His time to relax after a full on day spent with 4 hyper younger brothers. His time to bask in the peace and quiet his room provided…
… THUNDERCLAP … the pouring rain began hammering at his window …
Scott sighed, threw back his blanket and began counting "5, 4, 3, 2, 1…"
… THUNDERCLAP … 4 scared little brothers rushed into his room …
"Come on then, jump in."
… THUNDERCLAP… 4 scared little brothers scurried noisily into the bed.
Pulling the blanket over them all Scott smiled when he felt each of them snuggle up to him. 'Forget the peace and quiet,' he thought to himself. He would prefer to have his 4 brothers any day!
**
First Day.
“Don’t want too…” Alan whined, clinging desperately onto his father’s trousers.
“But you have to,” Jeff returned, trying to loosen his son’s grip.
“Why?”
“Because…” Jeff paused, then exhaled, he had no answer for his baby. Honestly, he was out of his depth, normally this was Lucille’s job, but she wasn’t here like she had been for his other boys… He glanced at his four sons standing close by, none of them had wanted to miss this moment, none of them wanted Alan to feel like he was missing out on something, even though they knew that he was. After all, it shouldn’t be them doing this, it should be their mother. They’d all had her here for their first day, but Alan wouldn’t… And even though he hadn’t said anything they could see it in his eyes that he knew he was different from all of the other kids who were being dropped off by their moms.
“Because,” Scott said, stepping forwards, “you will get to make some cool new friends.”
“I will?”
“Yes,” John replied, “and you can play with some neat toys.”
“And when I was here,” Gordon added, “they had some awesome toy dolphins, and a submarine…”
Alan scrunched up his tiny nose.
Gordon grinned. “They also had some cars and toy rockets!”
“Wow!” Alan exclaimed.
“You can also draw and paint,” Virgil informed him.
“Without getting told off for using your paints?”
“As long as you share with your classmates,” Virgil said with a big smile, “then you can use whatever you want… And maybe you could bring me a picture back of your favourite toy?”
Alan nodded enthusiastically, then looked up to his dad. “I’m ready to go now daddy!”
Jeff knelt down so his eyes were level with Alan’s. “Have a brilliant day son.”
Alan beamed, loosened his grip, then immediately ran towards his teacher.
Standing, Jeff reached out and brought his four other boys into a warm hold. Knowing that whenever he was out of his depth then his amazing sons would always have his back.

The Beast
It was dark. Only a few rays of sunlight managing to penetrate the lair he had entered. He had been warned on numerous occasions about the beast that inhabited this area and was known to attack when woken, but he had not believed. Yes, he had seen it on many occasions, but all of those times it had been funny, friendly and caring. Surely, just because it was woken early it wouldn't attack. Especially since it was him.
He creeped closer. Currently it was lying on its stomach, eyes were tightly shut, and bizarre noises were emitting from it. Finally, reaching his destination he leant towards it, his hand reaching out, but then a sudden snort from the thing in front of him was released causing him to jump back. Maybe it wasn't best to disturb it? Maybe Gordon was right, and the beast did attack if provoked this early? Although his brother was known to make things up. This probably was just one of his jokes and the usual encounter would be received. He had to be brave and find out the truth. Straightening himself up, he stepped forwards, and placed his hand confidently on the shoulder in front of him…
"Virg…"
No movement, no signs of him waking, so he tried again…
"Virgie?"
This time a groan emitted from his brother, then once again he grew quiet…
"Virgie," he pushed harder on his shoulder, "please wake up."
A yawn, and a pair of bleary eyes opened, grumpy and nothing like the kind-hearted peaceful ones he was used to… He moved backwards… Maybe this was a mistake… But then there eyes met, and a soft gentle smile illuminated the features of his brother.
"Hey Alligator, what's up?"
"Nothing," Alan replied with a little snigger at the nickname.
Virgil regarded the three-year-old in front of him. "Nothing, really?"
"Well, Gordy said you were a beast in the morning, but I didn't believe him, so he said I should come and see for myself."
"Did he indeed?"
Alan nodded his head.
"Well, I'm not a beast."
"Knew it!" Alan cheered happily.
"But," Virgil looked at his clock, "when I am woken this early, I am known to turn into a bear."
Alan gasped in shock.
"And you know what bears do, right?"
Alan scrunched up his little nose and shuck his head…
"Well, they are known to attack."
"Really?"
"Yes, with…" Virgil paused for dramatic effect… "tickles!"
A fit of giggles erupted from Alan when Virgil pounced, flung him over his shoulder, then onto the bed where he began tickling him madly.

Baby Talk
"Hi, I'm Scott, I'm four years old, I love aeroplanes and jumping off the couch. Although mummy and daddy tell me off for that one. My best friend became a big brother to a little sister last year, he's really good at it, and I want to be the same. So, I will always cuddle you, care for you, and when you get bigger I will help you to learn all of the things I found hard. I promise that I will be the best big brother you could ask for…" He leaned in and kissed his mother's tummy, feeling a kick back in response… "Love you too!"

No better way to start a writing blog than by writing something completely self indulgent lmao college students this might hit too close to home but in my defense the new sem started and I'm. Mess
Gen: angst ig???some fluff? hurt/comfort? Quite literally just me writing what I want to hear
CW: insecurities, negative thoughts

Wakatoshi loves volleyball
Everyone knows this
Ever since he was little, he's lived and breathed for the sport
There's nothing better to him than the feeling of the ball hitting his hand, the adrenaline rush of a scored point, the satisfaction of a game well won
He didn't get this far on enjoyment alone though
As his s/o, you know this better than anyone, save for his coaches and teammates of course
You know the effort he's put in, you know that for every second he shines on the court in front he's spent hours practicing alone or with his teammates
And he shines on the court
Watching him play will never fail to make your heart stutter and your lungs feel like they're not getting enough air
After being with him as long as you have, you know enough about volleyball to know that Wakatoshi is something special
His speed, his strength, his reliability
No matter how many times you see that spike, the sound of the ball hitting the floor stays deafening
Wakatoshi was made to play Volleyball. It's an objective fact. Sometimes you think that the sport loves him just as much as he loves it
Sometimes, you get so jealous you could scream
one of the perks of being the volleyball captain's s/o is that you always get the best seats
You watch front row as your boyfriend leads his team to victory, and he always leads them to victory.
You watch, time and time again, as he scores the match point, that sharp wham of the ball hitting the court that sings triumph
Wakatoshi isn't the most expressive person. When his team wins a game, most people would write off his impassive face as nonchalance or as vanity, thinking maybe he's won so many times it doesn't feel like anything for him anymore
But you know him. You know that if you look hard enough at the end of a game, you can see a gleam in his eyes. A gleam that somehow means both satisfaction and hunger
Because while at the end of every game means victory, the end of every game also means the start of a new one, a new challenge, a new opportunity to be on the court. He loves every second of it
You know you're probably the worst person on the world for feeling this way about someone you love, but every time you see that gleam in his eyes, any pride and happiness you feel on his behalf is stained with resentment and an envy so bitter it stays on your tongue for days
You've never had that gleam in your eyes. You've never loved something so entirely, so completely as Wakatoshi loves volleyball
You honestly doubt you ever will
It's not like you're talentless or you don't have hobbies, you have the things you're good at and you have the things you like to do but it's not the same
You want so desperately to know what he feels like, to be doing something and to think, I could do this for the rest of my life and die happy
on your worst days, you wonder why he stays by your side at all
You watch him play, surrounded by his court and his team (no the court or the team, his.) And you wonder what he could get from you that he couldn't get from the sting of the ball on his palm, or the squeak of his shoes on hardwood
He's brilliant, wherever he goes be burns so brightly you swear he leaves scorch marks. What could a forest fire possibly want from a candle?
You watch them play a game against some college team, they win straight sets and Wakatoshi dominated the court, scoring a majority of the points. you're quiet on your way home, and he asks if you were bored by the game
You immediately tell him no, because on most days you love seeing him play, and you try and explain how you feel
He doesn't understand what you're talking about, obviously
Contrary to what most people think, your boyfriend isn't stupid or dense. He has trouble understanding different social cues and conceptualizing some of the more complicated emotions other people feel, but he's not an idiot
But these specific insecurities are something he's never had to face. For him, it's been volleyball since the start. His earliest memories are of his father in the yard, tossing a blue and yellow ball into the air while he sits on the engawa, chubby hands holding tight to a pink vabo-chan plush
It doesn't make sense to him, if you don't have anything like that, then all you need to do is find something you're good at, correct? Then you'll be happy
He tells you this, in his usual matter-of-fact way. (you can imagine how that went)
He doesn't understand why your eyes go glassy, or why you tell him you'll be fine walking by yourself for the rest of the way
But he does understand that he's made you upset, and he knows that he never wants to look into your eyes and see tears that he's put there
As he walks back to his dorm, he's wracking his brain trying to make sense of how you told him you felt, and what he said in response
He's still thinking as he enters the doorway, ignoring Tendou's greeting as he neatly removes his runners and puts them away
This, of course, alerts his redheaded friend, knowing Wakatoshi was taught to mind his manners
He leaves whatever he was doing to see him at the entrance, taking in his pinched expression. He knows that Wakatoshi walks you home after every game, and it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots
He quickly presses the pad of his thumb between Wakatoshi's furrowed eyebrows, smoothing the lines there
"trouble in paradise, Wakatoshi-kun? You can't keep frowning like that you know, you'll get wrinkles! Everyone already thinks you're an old man"
Wakatoshi trusts his best friend, even if he teases him constantly. Besides you, Tendou is his main confidant
He explains what happened much like someone would explain a mission report, in perfect unbiased detail. He tell him what you said, how he thought and responded and your reaction. Tendou is always patient with him, giving him his full attention.
After he finishes his story, his friend sits on his haunches in the middle of the hallway for a few minutes, pointer finger to his chin, head cocked and eyes to the ceiling, hmmmmmming thoughtfully
Wakatoshi waits at the entrance of their dorm room until Tendou snaps his eyes away from the ceiling and onto him
"Wakatoshi kun, I'm going to need you to imagine something for me"
His eyebrows pinch together again, but he nods
"Imagine you never played volleyball, you're exactly the same in every way, except your dad never showed you so you never learned how to play. Try and imagine who you'd be"
Wakatoshi tries his best to imagine, he replaces the blue and yellow ball in his memory with a red one, the bouncy kind they sell in bins at the grocery store. He replaces vabo-chan with some kind of stuffed animal wearing a bow
He thinks about school, about going straight home after class is over, and going to the gym only on weekends
He finds he's skipping parts of his life in large gaps, empty spaces he doesn't know what to do with, his future completely blank. It's terrifying.
Tendou must see the dawning horror on his face because he jumps up quickly with a flourish, clapping his hands together once to draw Wakatoshi out of his daydream
Tendou looks at him, smiling and says "y/n-chan doesn't have their volleyball. Most people aren't as lucky as you, finding your volleyball so early Wakatoshi-kun. Some people never find their's at all"
He stands at the entrance quietly for awhile after Tendou returns to his room, thinking about how scary it felt to imagine, even for a few minutes, his life full of the blanks that his sport filled
He wonders how it would be like to have those blanks empty all the time, with not even a clue how to complete them
Swallowing his pride, Wakatoshi realizes he wouldn't be able to live like that. Wouldn't be able to go forward into such unknowable territory, under such impossible odds
He thinks about you waking up every day, seeing your life full of blanks, and still pushing forwards despite it
He doesn't get much sleep that night.
You wake up in the morning to Wakatoshi's text ringtone
7:10am Toshi <3: Call in sick for first period.
7:10am Toshi <3: I am going to pick you up at 8.
7:13am Toshi <3: I will bring you breakfast.
7:27am Toshi <3: Wear a light jacket, it's chilly.
The half of you that's still hurt over yesterday wants to tell him to shove breakfast up his ass, but then you realise something
You stare at your phone, deeply confused
Doesn't he have volleyball practice before school?
You get ready quickly, and sure enough, when you walk out of your door at exactly 8:00, Wakatoshi is there.
He's wearing his tracksuit and runners, and he hands you a paper bag from the conbini. There's an apple, a bag of grapes and onigiri. In his other hand he's holding a warm drink, written on the lid is your favourite, exactly how you like it
"I am taking you to the park."
You tilt your head up at him, confused
"don't you have volleyball practice?"
"I'm skipping. We are going to feed the ducks."
The idea of Ushijima Wakatoshi skipping volleyball practice stuns you into silence, and you simply follow his lead to the direction of the park, you walking and him doing some sort of ridiculous exercise thing that looks like it'd make you puke
When you get there, you're happy to find that your usual bench is empty.
Wakatoshi pulls a water bottle out of his ridiculously-deep men's tracksuit pockets while you take the bunch of grapes out of the bag, neatly dividing it in half. You decide to take the big half of the grape bunch for once, because he was being a jerk yesterday and you deserve to feed the ducks more than he does. You give him his half and you both start feeding the ducks in silence
After awhile, he decides to speak
"Tendou made me imagine something yesterday"
You turn to face him, but he's still looking at the ducks
"he told me to imagine my life if I'd never played volleyball"
He frowns
"he said to imagine everything about me was the same, except I never started playing. I found that it was difficult"
"there were many things I found I couldn't fill in, both in my life and in myself"
"but the worst part was imagining the future. I couldn't imagine a single thing to put in it"
"I wouldn't be able to live like that. To live every day and see blank spaces and uncertainties. It sounds terrible"
He pauses for a moment and you're like :/ wow king thanks for the pep talk
But he takes a deep breath and he continues
"I think, for a person to face that uncertainty and keep pushing forward, they would have to be exceptional"
Your head snaps to look at him so fast you almost get whiplash
Exceptional
There's a word that you've never used to describe yourself
"I think, that if I knew someone like that, I would tell them that they are strong in a way that I doubt I will ever be"
He finally turns to look at you, and you try your best to see him through the tears distorting your vision
"after awhile of thinking, I finally thought of something that I could put in that blank future. Would you like to know what it was?"
You just nod, not trusting your words. His big hands gently engulf your own and for a moment you're absolutely certain Ushijima Wakatoshi will be the death of you
"if I didn't have Volleyball, if I didn't have a single clue of what I could do with my future, if I still had you by my side, I think I would be alright"
One hit K.O.
He keeps going though, as if he didn't just kill you
"if you would have me, I'd like to be in your blank future. For as long as it takes for you to find your volleyball, I'll be there. If it's months or years or decades,"
"if decades pass and you never find your volleyball, I would still like to stay by your side. Maybe your volleyball is looking for volleyball?"
His face contorts in consideration of the idea, and you can't help but laugh wetly, your tears soaking into his jacket as you bury your face into his arm
He presses a soft kiss to your head
"I apologize for what I said last night. I didn't understand"
You only shake your head
You two sit in companionable silence for a little longer so you can eat your breakfast, then you both walk to second period hand in hand
It's only in the boredom of your math class that you realize the gravity of what your boyfriend had said to you in the park
11:08 you: Tendou
11:08 you: was I tripping
11:08 you: or did Wakatoshi /propose/ to me in the park today
Tendou is typing......

A/N: I've never posted this kind of stuff before so comments would really be appreciated! Like if there's something I could do to make my stuff easier to read or whatever I wanna hear it! Even if it's mean I promise I'll only cry a little

Paper Dreams
John receives a prestigious invite and he’s not sure how to respond.
Many thanks to @gumnut-logic for the encouragement because I am nerves!!
*                      *                      *
The crisp white envelope was heavy in his hands as he hurried from the room. Paper was a formality, a mark of distinction that would surely draw his brothers’ unwanted attention. Letters didn’t just arrive unannounced in this era of high-speed data connections and quantum supercomputers. In fact, they didn’t arrive at all.
So, John was more than a little apprehensive when Grandma Tracy silently handed him the sealed envelope and walked away.
It took only a few short minutes to read through the contents and he sat back against the window in his room, the words whirling in his mind.
Mars Colonisation Project. Distinguished candidate. Invited to apply.
An opportunity of a lifetime.
A way to prove for once and for all that he was more than his father’s famous name.
John clutched at the letter, the paper crinkling in his grasp. He mouthed the words as he read them, over and over.
He looked up at the sound of a loud yell calling his name, hurriedly shoving the letter into the envelope and dropping it at his side. Snatching up a nearby tablet, his flushed ears were the only hint of the letter that remained when Gordon shoved open the door.
“John, dinner, hurry up.”
His brother tore out of the room before he could respond.
*                      *                      *
John slipped into his seat, mouthing an apology to Grandma Tracy as he did.
“Finally!” cried Alan. He wriggled back in his seat, staring hopefully at the food. “Grandma said we had to wait for you, you took forever!”
“Is Dad not eating?” asked Virgil. “I heard him come in.”
“He’s taking it in the study tonight,” said Grandma Tracy, shaking her head slightly. “Brains dropped by and they’re holing up together on that project of theirs.”
John glanced over at the conspicuously empty seat at the head of table. They all knew what ‘that project’ meant.
In the heady rush of excitement, he’d all but forgotten the silent expectation that accompanied his studies and extra-curriculars for the past five years. A pet project alone wouldn’t have been enough to deter him from his own ambitions, but the Thunderbirds, they offered something different, something more than the office politics of academia, squabbling over research grants.
He’d never known anything that could compete.
Until now.
“Hey,” said Virgil in a low tone, nudging him from his thoughts. “You okay?”
John pulled himself back into the present with a slight grimace.
“Fine. Just thinking about an assignment.”
Virgil nodded slowly, looking him up and down with a critical eye.
“Are you going to eat anything, or just push it around?”
John automatically lifted his fork, blinking as the peas fell back to the plate and landed in a pile of mushy, grey potatoes.
“Actually, I’m not that hungry.”
“Can I have yours?” asked Alan, already reaching over to grab at his plate.
“Not hungry, John?” asked Grandma Tracy. “You’re not coming down with something, are you?”
She examined the pinched look in his face and the nervous twist of one hand inside the other.
“No,” said John, wishing he hadn’t said anything. The last thing he wanted was any level of scrutiny. “I’m fine, Grandma, honest.”
He let Alan scrape his leftovers from his plate, realising with a pang than he’d had another growth spurt over the previous semester at his boarding school.
If he left for Mars, he’d return to a brother he’d hardly recognise.
Colonisation was a long-term project, the result of years in planning and decades of dreams. Countless people would put their life’s work into its development and they had every right to expect the same of their astronauts. The application process alone was heavily involved and would severely limit time with his family, to say nothing of the many years ahead for him on Mars if he made it all the way into space. He’d be travelling millions of miles from home, only to find himself living with a group of strangers that he couldn’t escape without logging an external environment report.
He didn’t even like sharing a bathroom at the university housing that much.
Still the piece of paper called to him.
“Can I be excused?”
Grandma Tracy nodded and he hurried from the room, not noticing her troubled look.
The warmth of the room followed him into the hallway and he shut the door firmly behind him. He thrust his hand into his pocket, searching for the reassuring touch of cool paper.
It was real.
It was real and if he let the opportunity pass by, he might regret it for the rest of his life.
Or he might be wasting his time, pinning his hopes on something that would only serve to distract him in the long run. He could only imagine what Scott would say, who’d never once taken his eye off a prize once he’d decided to aim for it.
He didn’t know what to do, didn’t know what he wanted, and found himself climbing into the cramped space under the roof that had generously called a playroom, then a study, then an attic.
He blinked as the bare bulb overhead lit the small room, filling it with old memories and dust.
His first telescope was still standing in the corner, pointing high in the sky and he lifted the edge of his T-shirt to wipe the dust away. Surrounding it, lay stacks of books that his mom had picked up from the local thrift store, that Mrs Delaney, the owner, put them aside just for him.
John walked carefully among them, tugging the small window open and staring out into the night. The stars shone bright in the clear, crisp air.
Crouching down, he peered through the eye piece, adjusting the focus with a practiced hand. The little reflector was nothing like the giant telescopes available at the college department, and he had to hold his breath to stop the stand from wobbling. But the universe was still out there, the same as it was when he was a kid, still holding an infinite number of mysteries despite the years he had spent uncovering the rules that held it together.
He looked up, eyes darting through the familiar patterns, searching for the anomaly he knew was wandering between Gemini and Taurus.
And there it was.
Mars.
A planet with so much to offer the world they lived on. Where he could work with a team of people who loved space just like him, where he could devote his life to researching astronomy from a new perspective and developing technology for interplanetary life for generations to come.
Where he could leave his mark alongside all the heroes of his childhood. Alongside his dad.
“After all, why shouldn’t I go?” he said, scowling up at Mars.
“Go where?”
John spun around with a start.
“Kayo! When did you get in?”
She shrugged, propping up her head with her hand.
“Long enough to see you come up here,” she said. “I waited for you, but then Mrs Tracy said you hadn’t eaten. Figured something was wrong.”
She looked him up and down with a piercing eye. John tried not to squirm. He’d always felt Kayo had something of a sixth sense when it came to knowing things that should have been a secret.
“Seems like I was right,” she said, raising an eyebrow.
“Everything’s fine.”
“Then where are you planning on going?”
“Nowhere. I don’t think, that is…”
He flopped down and tilted his head back with a huff.
“Not right now, at any rate.”
Kayo pulled herself up onto the floor and drew the ladder upwards.
Neither spoke as the trapdoor shut with a small ‘click’.
The dust swirled in the air, dancing in the shafts of light above them.
“Is it a graduate program?”
“No.”
“An international program?”
“No.”
“A long-term space colonisation program for specially selected candidates who have already proven themselves in the fields of communications, astrophysics and astrotechnology?”
John stared at her.
She shrugged.
“It’s my job to know.”
“So, why even ask?”
“I’m trying to get you to lower your guard.”
She smiled at the dumbfounded look on his face.
“You’ve met Brains, right? He’s got some server tracker that flags your name. They asked your advisor for academic and personal references months ago.”
“Oh God,” said John, dropping his head in his ands and staring wildly at the floor. “Does Dad already know?”
Kayo shook her head.
“Dad and I do. Security details and all. But we don’t tell him that kind of stuff, you know, he’s not spying on you.”
“You’re right, that’s a real comfort,” said John, drily.
Kayo tossed her head.
“I’m just saying.”
Her eyes softened as she watched him draw his knees close to his chest.
“He doesn’t know.” She hesitated, still watching him. “Would it be all that bad if he did though?”
John huffed a little, still staring at his knees.
“International Rescue’s all we’ve ever talked about,” he said. “I didn’t think there’d be anything else I wanted. What if I let him down?”
“He’s already proud of you, John.”
“But we’ve been working towards it for so long now. This would change everything. Delay the full scope of the project for months, or years even.”
Kayo snorted.
“You really think Jeff Tracy, resident billionaire and with access to the best tech in the world, wouldn’t be able to find another genius astrotechnician and communication expert?”
John shot her a withering look.
“Okay, so maybe he’d have to find two super geniuses.”
She easily dodged the picture book he threw in her direction.
“Leave off,” he said, rolling his eyes.
Kayo spotted the slight smile though, and grinned broadly in return.
“Can I?” she asked, nodding at the space between him and the wall.
John nodded and shuffled over as best he could, trying not to topple the book stacks around them.
Kayo wriggled into the gap, and John paid her no mind.
He hadn’t thought of who would take his place because, of course, someone must. He’d been preparing for an International Rescue without him, one where his family diverted communications for a few years and focused their efforts on establishing themselves on land and sea until Alan stepped into his role on Thunderbird Five.
He hadn’t imagined an International Rescue where he wasn’t even needed.
Kayo seemed to sense the turn in his thoughts, nudging him gently to pull him from them.
“He wouldn’t trust them half as much as you, you know.”
John shrugged.
“I don’t want to disappoint him,” he said slowly, choosing his words carefully. “But I don’t want that to be the only reason I don’t go.”
He took a deep breath, and glanced back up at the slowly setting planet.
“And I want to go,” he admitted. “I do. I need to tell him.”
Kayo nodded, a sad look in her eyes. They sat in silence together, lost in their own thoughts. The bustle of the house downstairs filtered upwards. Muffled bangs and indistinct shouts of Gordon and Alan playing some ridiculous game, loud music from Virgil’s room – the kind he put on to drown out any interruption to his painting. Grandma Tracy seemed to be having some kind of one-sided conversation with herself, until John remembered, with a pang, that it was Saturday morning out in Guam and she was likely speaking to Scott at that very moment.
Kayo sighed and dropped her head on John’s shoulder.
“I’d miss you though.”
John swallowed carefully past the sudden lump in his throat.
“I’d miss you too.”
*                      *                      *
John was too old to be summoned to his father’s study, but somehow deliberately interrupting him felt worse. Nausea sat like a rock in his stomach, his voice box left in tatters as he knocked on the solid oak door.
“Who is it?”
He couldn’t reply.
His eyes flitted across the family photos that littered the hallway, landing finally on the image of his father and crewmates waving to the masses as they entered the Herschel-VI.
The photograph didn’t show the way his father was blind to the crowd, his farewell only for the woman who stood half a mile from the launchpad, proud, so proud, and sick with worry too. She held tight to her eldest son with one hand, and rested her other on the stroller she was rocking back and forth. She didn’t see the way he had wriggled out of his restraints nor how he was preparing to drop to the ground and run away, already intent on chasing after his father at three years old.
Jeff Tracy, first man on Mars, opened the door with a frown and a touch of impatience, and John knew there would be no escape this time.
“John.”
“Dad.”
His throat closed around his words and his hand closed around the letter in a fist.
Jeff looked down at the sound, and looked back at John, an assessing look in his eye. He stepped back wordlessly and John entered the severe room.
“What’s happened, son?” he asked, holding his hand out for the letter.
He smoothed down the crumpled edges as he read, his eyes leaping from phrase to phrase on the page.
“Well, it seems congratulations are in order. I assume you intend to accept?”
The knot in John’s chest loosened and he collapsed into the chair opposite Jeff.
“I intend to apply,” he corrected, staring down at the desk between them.
“John, they don’t reach out like this unless they want you onboard. They intend you to be on that shuttle, regardless of the formalities the bureaucrats put in place.”
“Yeah.”
Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the blueprints, Brains’ small, neat handwriting annotating each design and his father’s looping comments scrawled liberally across them.
Jeff followed his line of sight and smiled.
“Five won’t be operational for a few more years, you know that. Don’t let her be what holds you back.”
“But this was always it, this is why I’m getting space rated. And the satellite network still needs to be launched, and the orbital mechanics calculated.”
“An opportunity like this doesn’t come your way twice, son.”
John stopped.
“You think I should accept. If they say yes.”
“Don’t you?”
There it was. His father’s blessing laid out in front of him, just waiting to be taken up like a pennant.
Everything they’d worked for, everything they’d sacrificed, gone. In its place, a single shining achievement, a global community on their sister planet. The first of its kind.
It had been a long time since John had allowed himself to dream his own dreams.
“Alright,” he said, a giddy rush spinning his head so that he hardly knew what he was saying. “I’m gonna do it.”

___
Luke Patterson had always loved the idea of soulmates. When he was a little boy his parents would regale him with the story of how they met. They ran into each other on the quad at their university, his mom knocked to the ground and his dad dropping his books. In her flustered state Emily had combined “Hey, watch where you’re going!” with “Are you okay?” and ended up crying out “Hey, watch where you’re okay!” while his dad had cursed “Shitfuck, are you okay?” When Mitch offered his hand to help her up they noticed each others’ tattoos and the rest was history.
It was Luke’s favorite story in the whole world and he grew up daydreaming about the day he’d meet his soulmate. He couldn’t wait to see what words would appear on his skin when he or she said their first words to him. He wondered if he’d feel the tingle that some reported feeling when the mark formed on their skin, or what the handwriting of his soulmate would look like permanently inked onto this skin. No matter what he knew he’d cherish the mark, it would be from his soulmate, after all, his other half, the person he was destined to spend the rest of his life with.
Dying before he could hear the words that would change his life forever kinda threw a wrench in his plans.
The thought of his soulmate out there, having grown up without him, never to meet each other because of his untimely death had plagued him for days after Julie “resurrected” them. Then Alex had met Willie. The skater ghost had died more nearly a decade before they had and yet he and Alex were soulmates, “You dinged my board.” proudly displayed on the blond’s wrist.
The knowledge that soulmates existed even in death had brought hope back into his life and he started spending his free time daydreaming about them again.
He’d been channeling his daydreams into songwriting one afternoon when Julie had walked into the garage with Flynn and another friend. He assumed you hadn’t been informed about the ghosts as neither Flynn nor Julie made any remarks towards the guitarist despite typically doing so. He wished that wasn’t the case as you were quite cute. You were absolutely the type of girl Luke would’ve crushed on hard back when he was alive, soulmates or not.
“Oh, and who is this?” Luke asked, employing his teasing tone as he spoke to the newcomer as you set down your backpack though he knew only Julie could hear him.
He had expected a quiet laugh or at the very least a dramatic eye roll from the girl but when he turned to look at her she was staring at her friend’s wrist. Luke turned to look as well and his stomach immediately sank.
There inked on your wrist in his chicken-scratch handwriting were the words he had just spoken to you.
“Oh my gosh,” Julie gasped aloud, drawing everyone’s attention as she opened her mouth to announce what she had just observed.
Before he even had time to think about it, he was stopping her. “No! Julie don’t!”
She stared at him puzzled for a moment but closed her mouth anyway.
“What?” Her friend asked, looking at her perplexed.
“I just… forgot to tell my dad you guys were coming over,” Julie saved. “I’ll just text him real quick.”
You and Flynn nodded, unfazed by the excuse, and plopped down onto the available seating. Luke sighed, pulling his eyes away from you and poofing out of the garage.
He reappeared at his parent’s house. He had hoped to vent to his mom but she wasn’t home so he plopped down on his old bed. His parents hadn’t done much to the room since his death and as he laid there in silence it almost felt like it was still ’95. That pit that had started to form in his stomach continued to grow as he laid there, his thoughts swirling as his hopes thrashed around him once more.
He’d finally found his soulmate but she was- what had Alex called them?- a lifer. She couldn’t even see him. How were they supposed to meet and fall in love and build a life together when she couldn’t even see him and he couldn’t even touch her? How were they supposed to pass their story on to their future kids when she hadn’t even been able to hear the words that were now permanently etched into her skin? As he thought more about it he realized that he hadn’t received a mark of his own. His heart sank as he ran his thumb over the bare skin of his wrist. He’d stopped Julie before she could tell her he was even there so she’d never had a chance to say her first words to him.
It was worth it, he decided after a while. It was worth never hearing the words, never having the tattoo and knowing for certain that his perfect match was out there. It was worth it if he could spare you from the pain of knowing that your soulmate was there but he was dead and invisible.

Luke was almost grateful for the distraction of the Hollywood Ghost Club. The last few weeks had been torture, him constantly trying to avoid being in the same room with you and Julie. She had told you about them being ghosts not long after the appearance of your soulmark and had even invited you to meet the band which you had readily accepted. Luke, however, had run away before you could come that day. It killed him that you had met Alex and Reggie and not him, but he figured it would kill him more to have your first words to him appear on his wrist.
They talked about you sometimes, about how funny and adorable you were. It made his blood boil but he had to restrain himself, what right did he have to be jealous when he refused to even meet you.
Still, the rush to book the Orpheum was a welcome distraction from his internal turmoil. It was even enough to distract him from the fact that no matter what happened at the end of the night, he’d never see you again.
He’d miss you. That much was obvious. He’d miss hiding in the loft when you came over to work on homework with Julie, just out of sight so Julie wouldn’t see him but he could still watch you. He’d learned a lot about you that way, how your smile could light up a room, how gorgeous your laugh was but he could tell you hated it by the way you covered your mouth when you did it, how you fidgeted with the hair ties on your wrist whenever you were thinking (he noticed you always had at least two), and that you were almost always cold. He wished he could give you his flannels, you’d look so cute wrapped up in them and they’d certainly keep you warm.
He was thinking of you as he and the guys gathered around the piano in the studio. Julie had just left to head to the Orpheum with her dad and the mood in the garage had immediately grown somber. Their heads filled with worries of what would come next, what was on the other side? Luke’s only comfort was the thought that maybe if he crossed over you’d get a second chance at a soulmate, one who was alive. You’d never even spoken to him and yet he’d do anything for you.
It was that dedication to you that had pulled him out of the Hollywood Ghost Club and onto the Orpheum stage.
It was that dedication that kept him from running straight to Caleb to save his soul when they didn’t cross over. He’d let his soul be destroyed if it meant your happiness.
He never could’ve anticipated what had happened that night nor the repercussions.
He’d spent the next day journaling, writing down all his thoughts- and there were a lot seeing as he had expected to die yesterday, again. He was alone in the studio, Alex out celebrating with Willie and Reggie was who knows where (probably showing Ray like usual), then you walked in.
He sighed, getting ready to poof up to his hiding spot in the loft before Julie showed up when he was stopped.
“Am I dead?” You asked, staring at him in alarm.
“What do you mean?” Luke asked warily, not understanding the premise of your question.
“Well, you’re dead, and with the exception of Julie, you’re only visible to other dead people and I can see you,” you explained carefully, eyes wide.
Luke nodded at your train of thought before it hit him.
“Wait, you can see me?” He gasped, and you nodded. “You can see me! You talked to me!”
His head snapped down to stare at his wrist, sure enough, “Am I Dead?” was scrawled across his skin in the most beautiful handwriting he’d ever seen. Sure, some might say it was a little messy but to him it was perfect.
Before he could even think about his actions, he was rushing towards you and pulling you into his chest. You stiffened, shocked by the sudden action.
“What’re you-“ started to ask but you were cut off by him violently throwing himself away from you.
“I just touched you,” he gasped, once again stating the obvious. “Why can I touch you? Are you dead?”
“No! At least… I didn’t think I was but now I’m really not sure.” You shook your hands anxiously before reaching for one of your hair ties as you started pacing.
“Sorry for taking so long Y/N, I got caught up with Reggie in the house- what on earth is going on in here?” Julie paused in the doorway as she observed your pacing and Luke’s panicked look.
“Oh thank god, you can see me,” You breathe out before turning to Luke, “Julie can see me, so I must not be dead.”
“What?”
“Y/N and I thought maybe she was dead since she can see me and I could touch her,” Luke explained and you nodded.
“What?!” Julie repeated, more shocked than the last time. “You can see him? And you, you can touch her?”
“Yeah, look!” Luke exclaimed, reaching his arm out to tap your arm but it just went right through you. “Huh, why…?”
“Maybe the first time was a fluke?” You supplied before something caught your eye.
You reached out to grab his arm as it fell back to his side. This time it worked, and you pulled his limb closer to you, turning it over to examine what you had seen.
“Woah, see?” Luke said pointedly to Julie, though you weren’t listening.
“That’s- how? You’re-“ you sputtered as you stared at the mark on his wrist. “Soulmates.” You whispered finally.
“Um, I’m gonna give you guys some time,” Julie said, eyes wide as she walked backward out of the garage.
You didn’t let go of his wrist, your eyes flitting between your words and his eyes.
“That’s why I didn’t hear them,” you muttered, bringing your own wrist next to his.
It had been puzzling you for weeks, how you couldn’t remember hearing the words the day they had appeared on your wrist. It made sense now, you couldn’t hear them because Luke had said them.
“I’m sorry,” Luke said, dropping his wrist from your grasp. “I thought maybe if you didn’t know you could find happiness somewhere else. With someone who wasn’t invisible and intangible.”
Your gaze softened as you looked up at him, his face was tilted down, unable to look you in the eye. You sighed, taking a deep breath before reaching your hand up to cup the side of his face. It took a couple of tries but you were finally able to place your hand on his cheek, tilting his face to look up at you.
“Luke,” you said softly, “How could I want anyone else?”
He shook his head at your words, though his hand came up to rest over your own. “How could you know that? This is the first time we’ve ever spoken.”
“Because the universe put us together,” you answered surely, bringing your wrists together again in the space between you. “I have no idea how this is going to work but I know it’ll be worth it because these mean we’re meant for each other.”
“You are better than I could ever imagine,” Luke confessed softly, and you smiled shyly. “I don’t deserve you.”
“Well you’re stuck with me now,” you joked lightly, before pulling him to the couch. “Now c’mon soulmate, we’ve got some catching up to do.”
