Roman shrieked, running through the hallway and crashing through the door to his best friend’s dorm room, slamming the door shut behind him. Remus looked up with a raised eyebrow, giving the other guy a once over before hitting pause on his ps4 and pulling his headphones down around his neck.

“Okay what the f-”

“He’s a monster!” Roman yelled, beginning to pace. “An actual monster! I think he wants me to suffer!”

“Is this about-”

“Virgil! My evil roommate!”

“... Right.” Remus mentally prepared himself not to go back to gaming anytime soon and got comfortable as Roman’s vent began.

Five weeks ago they’d moved into their new dorms with bright smiles and heaps of enthusiasm, pleased to be in the same building, on the same floor, even if they weren’t rooming together. Remus had lucked out with Patton, the nicest guy to ever nice, who didn’t mind his odd hours and strange taste in decor. In fact Patton had seemed delighted to have someone to parent, by virtue of being the oldest in a family of six, and only a little morbidly fascinated by the chaos gremlin that was Remus on a daily basis. The going theory was that Patton was probably from a pretty conservative upbringing, and Remus was either his gay awakening or just his introduction into the reality of college boyhood. The bet was still ongoing but Roman remained hopeful.

So yeah, Remus had got very lucky. Roman on the other hand, had been stuck with Virgil. Virgil who was beyond weird. Roman could have handled weird, but Virgil seemed more determined to mess with Roman’s head, and boy was it working. 

“He said, get this- he thinks his eyeshadow is starting to tattoo into his face, but he needs to sleep on his face more. But he’ll use a straw so he doesn’t suffocate overnight. He can’t be real, Remus! And then when I went to close the window because it was getting cold he just, he just said, oh what was it? Yeah! ‘I’m hot, from the bones to the flesh’. What does that even mean?!” Roman wailed, arms wildly flailing to express just how passionately outraged he was. Remus just stifled a snort and the thought that Virgil sounded pretty great fun, offering Roman a vague humming sound of sympathy and a pat on the shoulder. Roman never really needed much of a conversation in these moments anyway, he’d be fine just monologuing. 

Several dorm rooms down the corridor a similar dialogue was taking place over the phone. Virgil groaned as he confessed the random impulsive thought he’d voiced that day as his own best friend Janus cackled on the other side of the call. “You said what?!”

“I know! I know. And his face! Oh god, Jan, he’s so hot and it’s so sad. Do I really have to keep this up the whole year?! I just want to date the pretty boy, Jan!”

His friend’s heavy sigh was music to his ears, signalling a possible end to this terrible torture. There was only so long you could stand being made to convince your hot (and also incredibly gay and available) roommate you were from another planet after all. 

“Fine, Vee, fine. But you gotta keep it up until, maybe Thanksgiving? So you can go away and then pretend you came back normal and he was imagining the whole thing!”

“Janus!” Virgil whined. 

“Okay! Alright. You can tell him. But don’t you dare try and talk about sappy love stuff with me if you actually get together. Swear it.”

“I swear, I swear. Thanks Jan. I gotta go now though, he could be back soon. I want to get this makeup back to normal now I don’t have to play the part of asylum zombie number three.”

“You’re gross and romance is gross but knock ‘em dead I guess.” 

Janus rang off with a click and Virgil made sure to send a spree of emojis to properly finish their chat before setting to work. 

The Virgil that Roman returned to was almost certainly not the one that he’d left. For one thing the crazed eyeshadow had become a tasteful and highly attractive makeup look, deepening and warming his brown eyes. Huh. Now Roman hadn’t not noticed that Virgil was pretty cute, willowy and well-groomed with dimples to boot, but that had been the first impression before all the other stuff started, so he’d kinda forgotten. It all came back as Virgil stood from his bed, wiping his palms on his jeans quickly and offering the most awkward of half-waves and shy smiles. 

“Are you a pod person?” shouldn’t have been the first thing out of Roman’s mouth but, well, it was, and there was no going back from that. Virgil’s hand faltered in the air and then rose swiftly to the back of his head with a sheepish chuckle. 

“Um, no. But I do have a confession to make?” He replied. “About uh, my behaviour. It’s been kinda weird. But that was deliberate. Not that I like, actually wanted to weird you out, that was just an uh, unfortunate side effect. It’s just that, well, okay I made a bet. I lost. It’s simple as that. And the guy who won, my friend Janus, he’s cool but god can he be a bitch. Never ever play any game against him, I swear. But! Back to the ah, the point! So the forfeit was, he told me all these weird things to do and say to my roommate and I had to do it! I mean I guess, I could have just not done them? But it was kinda funny, like a prank. Um, a harmless one. Right? Well anyway that’s done now! No more weird Virgil! Totally normal me! That’s, that’s good. I hope.” He trailed off as Roman continued to just stare at him. 

In all honesty his thoughts were mostly full of ‘wow he’s really cute’ and ‘he’s talking a lot does that mean he’s nervous does that mean he likes me does that mean we can date now’. Only Virgil waving a hand in front of his face brought him back to reality enough to reply, clearing his throat and blinking quickly. “Oh! Um, very good. Yeah, that’s cool. It’s cool you’re not actually a pod person, or an alien sent to study human life through experiencing college. Which was definitely not a theory I had okay let’s just move on from that right now.”

Virgil snickered, shrugging a shoulder. “Okay. I mean, I can see that, it’s a good theory.”

“Right?!” Roman gasped, stepping forwards. “There was the whole utensils thing, and then the-”

“The jelly?”

“The jelly!” They shared a laugh, watching each other closely. “So you’re not actually like that. What are you like, Virgil?” 

“Wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy,” Virgil shot back, sitting on his bed comfortably. He cast his eyes over at Roman when he sat on his own bed, smiling back shyly. 

“Yeah, I would.”

Virgil just returned the smile, ducking his head down when a blush threatened his cheeks. 

The conversations with their respective bff’s the next day would end with Remus laughing for so long he turned purple, and Janus hanging up no less than six times in ten minutes as he tried to avoid the lovesick speeches Virgil was determined to throw at him. 

It was a much better way to continue the year.

anyway i tried to make an actual canon lavellan, her name is gal’hilana but ppl call her gal or ana because whats the point in having an oc if their friends can’t give them an affectionate nickname !!! she’s kind of a recon Person for her clan, she’s a hunter but also like. a scout? so she goes ahead of the clan to make sure there’s no danger when they move, takes out a group to survey the land when weird things are happening, stuff like that. she really likes being on her own though mainly, she likes hanging out with animals!!! she likes deer and halla most but she likes basically every other animal and she can also tame a bunch of scary wild animals really quickly because she’s Like That 

she’s never really gotten along too well socially with her clanmates - she has a younger sibling who is a BIG CHARMER, everyone loves them and they’re bffs with everyone in the clan, but they don’t really Do Much to contribute and because their parents are dead she feels like she’s gotta pull the individual weight in the family, so she doesn’t really let herself have like... idk... just little Things? she is always on guard during social gatherings and stuff so she’s never really participated in anything like that

she’s very fulfilled with her life though, and definitely like. is nice! she just doesn’t socialize with people because she thinks everyone would rather hang out with her siblings which like. isn’t UNtrue. but she really does like her clan and care about them and she does enjoy some little things in life, she presses flowers and hangs ‘em up as Decoration and LOVEEESSS embroidery, but she’s never like.... danced or sang in her entire life or just Let Loose like that

F/34/S I lost touch with my life long bff after she started doing heroin. Shes been sober for over a year. We are rebuilding our friendship by doing sober activities. My husband and i are having a housewarming/b-day party soon. Id love to have her at my new home but Im worried about jeopardizing her sobriety. I know how hard it is for her and i care about her so much. People will be drinking. I dont want her feel left out or obligated to go. How should I handle this? I just want her to be okay🖤

I think it’s best to ask her in advance what she is comfortable around and also invite 1-2 other sober friends (you know you got em just think) to the mix :)

Also activities beyond drinking are great, can a game be played or a movie watched? Most sober people don’t go to bars because it’s just a bunch of drunk people standing around telling the same story over and over again at louder levels- unless there’s a pool table or a birthday, you know, a reason.

If there’s no reason other than a house party? Maybe she doesn’t NEED to be at this one. But regardless invite her, just tell her what she’s getting into before hand.

A little F•R•I•E•N•D•S survey just because.

Characters Favourite character? I relate to Monica the most but my favorite has got to be Chandler. Favourite male character? Chandler by a long shot. Favourite female character? Monica. Man, three questions in and I’ve already got my biases established ha. Favourite non-main character? Probably Jack Geller. Least favourite character (main)? Joey. I was always too impatient for his dumb ass. He’s adorable though.

Least favourite character (not main)? EMILY for days. They wasted so many episodes and storylines dragging her ass through them. I also kinda hated Amy. Funniest? Chandler, and this is going to be unpopular: Ross. He’s funny when he’s not being a jackass. Sweetest? ...Chandler. That episode where Monica ‘freaked’ him out by pretending to book a wedding venue when it turned out Chandler loved the place and ended up proposing to her was the sweetest. Best looking? Rachel. Girl’s style was always on point. Most mature? Phoebe trumps them all so hard. She lived through the Civil War, World War I, lost her mom, lived on the streets, and did so many shady things before landing in that apartment of theirs – she’s a kook but she’s a hella smart kook. Most immature? Has to be a mix of Joey and Rachel. And Ross.

Most annoying? Joey had his annoying moments especially the episode where he tries to speak French!!!!!!!!! but I love all of them just the same. Relationships Favourite couple? CHANDLER AND MONICA Least favourite couple? Joey and Rachel when they got together. I liked the slow burn that preceded the whole thing, but when the writers mashed them together, the execution was just ughhhh. I hated Ross/Julie, Monica/Pete, and Ross/Emily too. Favourite couple that wasn’t a main couple? Oh oof, I guess I’ve listed them all there. ^ Couple you wish would’ve happened? Chandler and Rachel. Their cheesecake episode was awesome.

Best friendship? Monica/Chandler and Joey/Chandler. The two that had the worst friendship? Phoebe and Ross were the two that just clicked the least lmao. Ross was too serious and too nerdy and Phoebe was more liberal and very eccentric. They had that debate on evolution once which I found hard to watch lmao, and not to mention that Ross is the biggest baby in the group whereas Phoebe had to grow up earlier than all of them because of her awful childhood. Couple you’re surprised happened? Rachel and Joey, obviously. Overrated couple? Ross and Rachel. They’re so hyped up when in reality, they were on and off for ten deadass seasons??? It was stretched for so long that it’s very easy to lose interest in it. Most underrated friendship? Phoebe and Ross, I guess. They weren’t very close, but I remember how Ross got Phoebe a bike when he found out she never had her own. That gets overshadowed a lot but I found that episode very sweet. Phoebe/Joey is also pretty underrated. You and them Which character would you be? I’m already Monica. Which character would you wanna be bffs with? Rachel hahaha. Saddest moment or episode? Monica finding out they can’t have kids, Phoebe having to part with the triplets, Erica almost giving up on Chandler and Monica because they lied, and the final goshdarn episode. Moment or episode that melted your heart? When Monica made Thanksgiving dinner, only for Joey to ruin it because Monica had to answer the phone, then when Chandler told on Joey, she was like “I don’t care, the adoption agency called and we’re having a baby” :’( Best episode/moment? I can think of so many depending on what kind of episode you’re asking for, but the first ones I can think of off the top of my head are the quiz, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s resolutions episodes, and the one where Chandler and Phoebe pretend to be into each other to see who breaks first. Cringiest moment? A lot of Season 10 stuff was cringey just cos everything felt forced by that point. I also didn’t like the scene where Chandler was checking out their home-sitter’s bra because Monica was convinced she was stealing from her wardrobe lmao. Oh and the one with Ross’ list about Rachel. OH and Joey failing so bad at French. They def had their cringey moments lmao. Worst moment/episode? The one where Pete decides to be a UFC star(????) was so fucking random. There’s also an episode that shows their alternative lives - Monica was still chubby, Phoebe was a bitchy executive...I forget the rest because I’ve only seen it once cos the whole thing was pretty pointless. Best season? The ones in the middle. Best quote? “It’s an electric drill. You get me, YOU KILL ME” or “Gum would be perfection.” Joey Best trait? He’s adorably clumsy and he’s also pretty confident. Worst trait? He has his creepy tendencies, he doesn’t share food, and he’s too stupid for my humor to appreciate him. Who should he have ended up with? Definitely Phoebe. Was he just a player or a sweetheart? Meh. He was a player. If Matt LeBlanc couldn’t play him, who should’ve? Chandler His best season? I’m not familiar which season it is but it has to be the one where he decided he was going to marry Monica. Chandler was always the most insecure out of the six who had a lot of childhood issues and as a result, was perpetually afraid of committing and being serious and actually being an adult. Deciding that he knew he wanted to marry Monica is such an underrated pivotal moment for him. Funny or annoying? FUNNY.  Why did he have trouble with girls? Because he’s so awkward.  If Matthew Perry couldn’t play him who should’ve? Best trait? He really cares.

Worst trait? He hates himself and uses humor to mask everything lol. Ross Best trait? He’s a sweetheart and looks after the girls the most.  Worst trait? Short or long hair? Long. Do you think the fat jokes are funny or mean? Mean, but then again they were jokes of their time so idk why people today are being SO LOUD crying foul over it. They were on a break after that very bad phone call and Rachel immediately invited his dude-friend over without thinking of Ross. Ross had every reason to be with a girl. Was Gunther weird or kinda cool? He was cool. I loved that they kept him as a recurring character.

Should it have ended sooner, later or when it did? They ended it perfectly. Some elements of season 10 already felt inorganic and unnecessary, but if we didn’t get the last season then we never would’ve seen Chandler and Monica’s twins and Rachel getting off the plane. I’m fine with the way they ultimately paced the show. Based off looks, who of the six would’ve looked best together? Chandler and Monica.

   So! Today’s the positivity day and... Well, I was almost content with kinda keeping up my hide-y nature right now and sticking to my RP blogs, but then I saw that some people were already tagging me, so-!! I can’t just not pay back!!! That ain’t me!! So... Let’s do some positivity today.

   I would first like to start with a general, big thank you to the entire community. As soon as I could figure out what a crush was and romantic feelings, I’ve been self-shipping and doing self-insert. It’s a natural sort of thing for me, someone who’s felt very outcasted from other people and needed another place to mentally go to feel better. Fandom and self-insert was my perfect spot.

   And it’s fun! But what’s made it even better is the community at large. I started this blog for myself and my love of fictional guys, gals, nb pals, and monsters/aliens/robots of all kinds. It was never meant to be anything more than that, but now I’ve been making friends. I’ve had people who’ve supported me and who I’ve supported back the best I can.

   My F/Os can only do so much, but with the little positive imagines people post and the assurances from my fellow self-shippers, it’s really put me into an unrivaled, comforting spot that feels a bit like home. You guys have made an online community a home and there’s no way to thank you guys enough for that.

matilda was born to parents who were both medical professionals, who made no secret of how much they wanted one of their kids to follow in their footsteps at least. at times, matilda felt as though she was being pushed into the medical field, and although she knew that she could say no at any point, she couldn’t quite bring herself to.

she excelled in school, again as was expected of her. she tried to be the picture perfect daughter, and fit into the picture perfect family that she had been so destined to be born into. a picture perfect family filled with cracks that she had been too young, or too naive, to see.

matilda had never been one to suspect that anything untoward might have been happening in the walls of her family home. she’d been so focussed on what she needed to do to fit in, to be just right. 

learning that her father had been cheating on her mother tore the family apart. she didn’t understand how he could have done that not just to her mother, but to the whole family. she didn’t understand why her mother couldn’t see it happening either, even though she had been just as oblivious. the picture perfect family was torn apart while matilda was in high school, and she couldn’t have been more thankful to escape for college when she did.

matilda attended the university of washington for pre-med, where she fell in love with seattle. it was a stark contrast to san diego, and that was the majority of the appeal for her. it was far from the life she’d lived before.

matilda had to move for med school - attending baylor college of medicine. texas hadn’t been her first choice, but for her it was just a stop-gap onto the road she had been paving for herself. and besides, anywhere was better than risking going back to california and facing what was inevitably a messy divorce that was occurring between her parents.

as soon as she was able (and matched), matilda hopped on the first flight back to seattle. she couldn’t explain what the pull to it was, but it was there and it just felt right for her. the feeling stayed as she continued to learn at seattle presbyterian.

while working at seattle presbyterian, matilda met the person that she would then go on to marry. if you’d asked matilda, it was everything that she’d thought her parents marriage had been - two people in love, with nothing that could come between them.

ever the optimist, matilda thought that was it - that she’d met the person she would spend her life with, and that was that. apparently the picture perfect life she’d always wanted was a reality.

or so she’d thought. they’d only been married for a couple of years when the rumours started - that they weren’t as committed to matilda as she was to them, and that there was a side to their relationship that matilda didn’t want to admit existed.

for the most part, that mentality had worked, but ignoring the signs became increasingly harder the more when they were pointed out to you, clear as day. matilda told herself that it couldn’t be so - that they were happy. 

finding a blonde in their bed hadn’t been part of the plan - and was impossible to ignore. then med student laurel davis wrapped up in the sheets that she had picked out, in the house that she had made a home? for the first time, the resentment matilda had felt for her mother for not being able to see what was going on dissipated, and left matilda feeling even more like a fool. 

matilda went straight back into her mode of denial. it was just one person - one slip, that she had caught in the act, and they would be fine. but one slip was never the case, and matilda couldn’t let it go as much as she wanted to. she became more paranoid, questioning of every person in their lives wondering if maybe they had been in her bed too.

matilda was at first determined not to let this break their marriage. she was better than that, or so she told herself, better than her mother. and ultimately, that was where this all stemmed from - making sure she didn’t turn into the same person she had so resented. 

matilda had them doing marriage counselling, retreats when they could get away, anything they could possibly to do to make things better. she couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t working, and that she was only driving her spouse to be all the more sneaking about their extra-curriculars.

a year ago, matilda moved to work at seattle grace with best friend maya rodriguez, on the advice that maybe the pair working in the same hospital and living under the same roof might be more pressure than needed, and could give them more of a chance. matilda didn’t buy it, seeing it as giving them more opportunities to cheat, but she kept it to herself. she was willing to do anything. 

as she suspected, it hadn’t worked in the way that they had hoped. matilda was still worried, and with a frank conversation with the therapist, she and her spouse came to the decision that they would take a break. they were, for all intents and purposes, strangers to one another. and that was how they had to act. matilda would stay in the house while the spouse moved out, so see if time apart could heal what had gone on.

it’s been a month since their break began, and matilda would be lying to herself if she said that she could see them coming back from this - and she’d be lying even more if she wasn’t still wondering just how many people around her knew the truth, especially seeing laurel in the halls of seattle grace.
