Hot take but I think that if Arcane CaitVi were parents, Vi would take on much more of a "mom" role than Caitlyn. "i know, it's good right?" you sigh happily. proud, you put your hands on your waist. "i say it's one of my best works and i preformatted it for the journal so the editor doesn't even have to worry about it." impressed, caitlyn stands from her desk. she takes off her top hat as she walks to you. "i have to admit, recruit, this is your best work. i thought your portfolio had all your best work, but i was clearly mistaken. good job." she leans back on her desk and crosses her feet at the ankle. as she stares into your eyes, you cheeks warm up. you can only pray there was no change in your appearance. you clear your throat, nodding at her. "yes, uh- thank you. i appreciate it." in a swift move, you leave her office. caitlyn's perplexed at your sudden change in attitude, but she brushed it off. she continued to read your file.

– since you two weren't together during that, caitlyn didn't think anything of it. maybe you were overwhelmed by your boss complimenting you. unluckily for you, it didn't go that smoothly with Vi.

jumping off from a mild ledge, you dust your hands off with a proud smile. "i told you that you needed my help. without me, you would've never seen that guy sneak that eggbeater into his pockets." a soft chuckle escaped from vi's lips. "yeah, I'll admit it. i didn't see that guy but i don't understand the threat behind an eggbeater. that's the kind of shit stuffy bakers use." you shrug. you hold up the eggbeater. the beater is well-kept and freshly polished and the golden material shines in the dim light. "this gold is worth a pretty penny. i should know. i handle golden material all the time." you grin up at vi. she chuckles again. "oh, what would i do without that beautiful, knowledgeable, brain of yours, huh?" she nudges your shoulder with a confident smirk. again, you stammer over your words. you fidget with the eggbeater before you look away. vi tilts her head, her smirk growing from confident to cocky; a known slippery slope. with her hands crossed over her chest, vi matches her eye line with yours. "I'm sorry, what was that? did you say something?" her words are like oxygen to a flame. the squirms and shudders travel up and through your spine. flutters erupt in your stomach and your heartbeat fastens. you say nothing in return. your silence is music to vi's ears. she grabs your chin and turns your face to her. her grin is shit-eating, her touch is warm, and her feelings are calloused. "you know," her voice is low, her words smooth. "you shouldn't talk a big talk when you can't handle someone agreeing with you. someone might take advantage of it." she winks.

– after the three of you got together, vi wouldn't call flustering you taking advantage of you. she would call it, "giving her partner affection"

– picture this, it's an early morning and vi is absolutely dreading getting ready. caitlyn has already scolded her about the consequences of being late for work, but vi gets scolded often so she tuned caitlyn out.

– you're already up, morning person or not, and getting ready for the day. you claim it's easy for you to get ready because you're absolutely perfect and the world can't revolve without you.

– from the sheets, vi turns her head. her face is half-smushed into the pillow. she tells you that you're right. you are perfect but you're wrong about one thing. there's no world to revolve around you because you are the world. her world.

– from the bathroom connected to the room, caitlyn groans. unfortunately for you, the corny line works, and your cheeks warm up. vi teases you again, taking your silence as another answer.

– sometimes, when your cockiness reaches an all-time high, caitlyn and vi share glances, nod, and then boom, you get a compliment attack.

– if you identify as a girl, they'll agree with you using gendered nicknames such as: "you're so right, pretty girl." "i agree. you're the most amazing girl in the world." "that's my girl."

– if you don't identify as a girl, they compliment you in other ways. "i knew you could do it. you're perfect." "that's right, baby. you are the best." "oh, really? you knew that? you're so smart."

– and lastly, if compliments aren't your thing, they'll fluster you in different ways.

– caitlyn likes to drag her nails up and down your back while placing kisses right underneath your earlobe. why are you squirming? you said you were the best of the best, right? she's giving the best of the best celebratory kisses. what's wrong with that?

– meanwhile, vi is more "subtle" when she's trying to fluster you. okay, maybe not exactly subtle, but it's vi-subtle. she knows she can be direct and flirtatious to get you flustered too, but she loves watching you muster up the courage to reply back to her.

– when you say something cocky, she'll lean on any surface she can and raise a brow. she'll always reply with a simple, "oh, yeah?" then, she'll lean down or reach up to your height. if you're taller, hands are on your waist. if you're shorter, she puts her hands on the side of your neck. either way, she scans your eyes with a smirk.

– that move alone sends you spiraling and you want to melt out of her grip. as most of her flirts do, she ends it with a wink and then walks away.

– don't get me started on the nsfw parts of this... but I'll leave that to y'alls imagination. bye~

Fluffly Vi and Caitlyn HC's

Vi is actually quite a bookworm! Growing up in the Lanes makes it hard to learn how to read and it wasn't until Vander found her trying to make sense of a novel left behind by a patron at the Last Drop that she started learning. Vander taught her himself, after the rest of her adoptive siblings went to bed, Vi would stay up and have Vander teach her how to read next to the soft glow of candle light. Those are some of her favorite memories with him.

She is a dog person through and through. Will beg for the two of you to adopt a dog once you've been living together for a while and you always seemed unsure. Little did she know, you were actually planning to surprise her with a puppy for her birthday! And when you finally do, oh, she cries so much! There are tears of happiness sliding down her freckled cheeks as she holds the tiny golden retriever puppy in her hands. Your apartment is alive with the sounds of her sobs and the puppy's attempts at barking, your heart clenches with joy at the scene. Vi will forever be grateful to you for such a thoughtful and amazing gift. She knows she can never repay you but she's willing to try through kisses and hugs.

Hates going clothes shopping unless you're the one doing it. If so, she's at your service. She'll carry your bags, point out clothes that she thinks you'll look nice in and compliment you when you try them on. When she's the one buying clothes, she likes for it to be done as quickly as possible. Though she can't say she minds the appreciative looks you give her when she tries on some particularly tight clothes or ones that show off her muscles.

Loves silly pet names. Cutie, honey bee, hot stuff, etc. But most of the time she likes to stick with good ol' 'babe'. Her heart almost jumps out of her chest the first time you call her 'darling'. There's just something about the way that word rolls off of your tongue that makes her stomach erupt with butterflies. First names are only uttered in serious situations.

Her giving love language is physical touch, receiving is words of affirmation. Vi loves being close to you, hugging, kissing and touching you whenever she can. She craves reassurance and affirmation due to her past. Needs to know she's good to you and that you feel loved and protected by her side.

Her favorite season is autumn! It's chilly but not too cold, but at the same time cold enough for her to cozy up inside and enjoy the rainy scenery unfolding outside your shared place. Even better if the two of you cuddle under a blanket and doze off in each other's arms. Violet swears she never slept better.

As much as she adores being the big spoon, she has a secret fondness for being the small spoon too. Especially after a nightmare, Vi needs to be held and feel protected. Her life has been one of hardship and being in your embrace reminds her that that period of her life is over. Now there is only your warmth and smile which protect her from all harm and sadness life brings.

CAITLYN

Has no bias when it comes to dogs or cats, but since she grew up with dogs, she isn't opposed to adopting a cat with you this time around. She had planned to find a more exotic and fancy cat breed but that went out the window one night as she was coming back from work. Coming back to you. It was a rainy night and it was already quite late as she stayed longer in her office than she should've so she was hurrying along. Despite the heavy sounds of rain and her footsteps echoing off the pavement, her ears managed to pick up a tiny, desperate sound. Cautiously following it to a dark alley, she was surprised when she stumbled upon a dirty kitten that was meowing its little heart out. Caitlyn couldn't bear to just leave it so she took it home to you. Your kind soul immediately saw the kitten as a new addition to your little family and it made Caitlyn so happy. The sweet but feisty calico kitten would quickly become an integral part of your everyday lives and the two of you wouldn't have it any other way!

Opposite of Vi when it comes to shopping, Caitlyn loves indulging herself with new fits and it's even better if she gets to do the same for you! Be prepared to never have to use your wallet ever again because your girlfriend has you covered. Loves to spoil you with whatever you desire and buys you stuff weekly, even if you don't ask for it. Whenever she buys you new clothes, Caitlyn likes to make a little show out of it! She'll twirl you around and give advice on how to pair different articles of clothing. However, she understands if it may be a bit too much at first so she'll start off with small and inexpensive but sentimental gifts. Anything to make you happy.

Caitlyn secretly collects antique porcelain figurines. She remembers her mother always having some on display when she was a child but never let her go near them in fear that she'd break them on accident. But she was always so amazed by their graceful yet still forms and the details which adorned their smooth surface. So, when she got older, she started buying them out of pure self-indulgence. When the two of you start dating, she's actually a bit scared that you'll find her obsession silly but, as always, you pleasantly surprise her with a look of awe and compliments on how pretty they are. When a couple of days later you show up with a gift for her, she is so happy! That happiness grows too big for her heart to contain when the gift turns out to be two custom-made porcelain figures with a striking resemblance to the two of you. You may not know it, but this definitely helped heal her inner child.

Besides practicing shooting, Caitlyn also loves fencing! It lets her release tension and stress which piles up from work and it keeps her agile. Puffs out her chest with pride if she ever spots you watching her during practice. Tries extra hard to impress you but at the same time gets really clumsy because she's constantly checking if your eyes are on her and only her. You catch on quickly and find it very endearing.

Soft and sweet pastries are her weakness. Goes to her favorite bakery to pick up her breakfast every morning before work. Once she's with you, she drops by in the afternoon too, during her break, so she can get you your favorite and give it to you when she gets home. At the end of a long day, there is nothing Caitlyn yearns for more than the sweet taste of a flaky pastry and your soft lips.

Vi and Caitlyn are best friends and partners who care about one another.

But whether she liked to admit it or not, there were some things that Caitlyn excelled in that Vi was sure she could never live up to.

She was rich. She had class. She was gorgeous, possessing perfect skin.

She was almost everything Vi could never be even if she wanted to.

So of course she would find herself growing jealous of the bond you and Caitlyn had.

She knows you’d never cheat on her and that you loved her, but the way you are around Caitlyn makes Vi ponder what if.

What if Caitlyn is the perfect girlfriend you deserve?

What if you two were meant to be?

Caitlyn makes you happy, right? And you two don’t argue or come to disagreements.

AITAH FOR GHOSTING MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS FOR THREE YEARS, FOR MY OWN MENTAL HEALTH?

Please bear with me. This post will be long.

I (21f) have been estranged from my family for the past three years.

I want to start off by saying that my family aren't bad people. They were never abusive, and they did care for me, but they could never understand me or the full extent of my issues.

Some background. When I was around five, my sister (26f), we'll call her V, and I witnessed our parents' death at the hands of some trigger-happy Enforcers. We don't know why they decided our parents deserved to die, but they did, and we were left orphaned when the authorities couldn't find any other family to take us in.

We bounced around in the system for a while, fearing being torn from each other at any moment, before a family friend was able to foster and then officially adopt us. Our AD (adoptive dad) was a godsend, he was and still (to my knowledge) is the most patient and gentle man I know. Despite looking like a wolf LOL.

Along with gaining a new father we also gained two brothers (twin 23m) the older twin (C) takes after our dad, Kind and patient. The younger twin (M) however is a little nasty bitch, who took upon himself to make my life in particular an ongoing hell. He was never physically abusive, but he was verbally abusive. It felt like not a day would go by when he wasn't putting me down and treating my existence like it was something insignificant. He never had a problem with V, just me.

For the first six years everyone else would defend me, put him in his place, and overall hold him accountable but at some point, they stopped holding him accountable and just expected me to grow a thicker skin. I still remember the day when I went crying to my sister and rather than comfort me, just rolled her eyes and asked if I could maybe not take him seriously because she needed to finish her group project. To her credit, she apologised for that but it was hard to rely on her after that.

Long story short, M made my home life unbearable, and I had bullies at school that made it unbearable. Especially once I was in high school and my best (and only) friend started making friends of his own. I want to say that I was cool with this, but in reality, I turned into an absolute brat and refused to get along with any of them. I wish I didn't, but I just couldn't help but feel betrayed and genuinely acted on those emotions.

And this is how I was with everyone. Constantly betrayed and acting out. It was no wonder everyone I knew got sick of me.

My Dad was constantly worrying about me.

My older brother avoided me as much as possible, to avoid my outbursts.

My sister was just constantly swinging between feeling guilty, angry, and just done with my constant outbursts. Especially when these outbursts were directed at her girlfriend, who constantly talked about how she wanted to be an Enforcer to protect others (take a wild guess why I couldn't like her). V even slapped me for something I said (I can't remember what) to her GF that made her cry.

And my best friend... hates me.

It's my own fault, obviously.

What led to the title of my post is this.

I told my (former) best friend that I loved him and wanted to be with him, and he just raged at me. Apparently, he was seeing someone and thought that I was pulling something in order to break them up. He didn't believe me when I said that I didn't know he was in a relationship (I genuinely didn't know) but he wouldn't hear it and called me an AH and said he was done with me.

I felt humiliated and heartbroken, when I got home that day I was crying and M was the first person, unfortunately, who I came across. And the first thing he does is scoff and roll his eyes, and said "fucking crybaby".

I don't fully remember what happened, I blacked out, but I remember my dad pulling me off of M and his face was a bloody mess. I'm pretty sure that I broke his nose and then some, my dad was so angry. The angriest I've ever seen him; he actually shook me by the shoulders and demanded what was wrong with me. And when I couldn't answer, they told me to get out. Which I did.

I just bolted from the house, the sound of shouting behind me, and just kept running until I got to the Bridge of Progress.

I was just so empty and lost, and the water below looked so tempting. I was about to end it all when my guardian angel showed up.

Ez (21m) was walking by when he saw me about to jump and, without hesitation, climbed up next to me and asked what we were doing.

He saved me that day, without even trying. He listened to my whining and rather than offer me empty promises of "it'll be okay" instead said "girl you messed up. Wanna go on an adventure with me?"

We've been friends ever since.

I took him on his offer and went home to collect some things, when I got there the lights were off so I climbed up to my bedroom window and let myself in. I grabbed my clothes, some saved up cash, my laptop, and my documents (in case I needed them) and left a note for my family saying "bye".

And that was three years ago. I haven't been in contact with them, I don't follow them on social media, and I left my mobile behind so they were never able to get hold of me.

I completely and utterly. Ghosted them. And I don't entirely regret it.

In the last three years I have gained close friends, experienced new things, seen interesting things, and have felt well enough to actually want to seek therapy. My mental health improved greatly, although I still have issues but still am lot better than I was before.

However, I can't help but feel like an AH. My family weren't bad, just fed up. They are genuinely good people (even M) it's just that I bring the worst out in people. But recently I've been wondering if I should reach out or not.

What if doing so disrupts their lives? What if my leaving improved their lives?

I don't know.
