Puck.
Do not drink that coffee. Not even a sip. Under no circumstances should you even try it.

Oh my; so authoritative.
*bats his eyes teasingly in Aziraphale's form before adopting a more serious expression*
I appreciate the warning, Crowley, but I think your protectiveness over your angel is getting to you and bleeding into what could be confused as concern for me. I'm not him, remember? You ought to be more careful or someone might think you're being nice again.
Really, though, I think everyone may be blowing this whole coffee thing out of proportion. What are you so afraid that it might do? There's only one thing I'd worry about him putting in it and I am almost positive that thing wouldn't even occur to him to add.

Something I think we don’t talk about enough is that in every single instance where someone has defied the Great Plan, it’s because of love. Crowley fell because he loved the universe too much to just stay quiet and watch it be destroyed. Aziraphale blatantly lied to God/Heaven to protect Adam and Eve and to save Job’s children. Aziraphale and Crowley stop Armageddon because of their love for humanity and each other. The Archangel Gabriel and Lord Beelzebub leave their positions as some of the most powerful beings in creation and get Heaven and Hell to abandon The Great War because they fell in love with each other. Even when the demons fell from Heaven for apparently defying the will of God, they still work to carry out The Great Plan and end humanity and win The Great War. The only time anyone truly steps out of the narrative of Good vs Evil is for love.
Makes you wonder why love and God’s Great Plan seem to be mutually exclusive. God creates the humans?? Don’t fall in love with them because She’ll drown them in floods, kill them just to win a bet, and destroy their entire world after 6,000 years just to see what happens. Being an angel/demon teaches you to be detached from everything and that nothing matters except blindly following the Divine Plan. Does God want to prevent the angels She created (and by proxy, the demons) from experiencing love because that makes them easier to control ?? [Remember: when Aziraphale and Crowley performed even the most minor miracle together, the power of their love was enough to bring 25 people back from the dead WHILE actively trying NOT to conjure a powerful miracle] They’re so used to working alone and fighting on “opposite sides” ,,, what else could angels and demons accomplish if they embraced their love and embraced each other ??? Were the two “sides” just created to keep angels and demons fighting and prevent them from ever discovering their true power ??? Does She just not have any concept or understanding of love at all and therefore it’s never even present in Her ineffable plans ???
Love is the one thing that always seems to go against the will of God and I think love is going to bring about a reckoning that not even God Herself knows how to handle

To Cry Uncle
🐦‍⬛ Alright, alright, let's get this show on the road 🐦‍⬛
Does Two of us make a Murder of Crows? … Or an Unkindness of Ravens?
Tumblr media
BAM!!
The door slammed open, rattling the attic from its impact. Scattered papers shook, and even the inky letters spilled onto them seemed to tremble too.
A man in a top hat and feathered cape barreled in. From her writing desk, a girl cloaked in the same sleek, dark feathers bristled and set down her quill.
"U-Uncle?! Don't scare me like that," Raven gently chided him. "You could have at the very least considered knocking before barging in unannounced."
It was something which the headmaster of Night Raven College made a habit to do. Lectures, labs—he arrived whenever he pleased, then disappeared just as quickly. Some called him a whimsical genius (well, usually it came from his own mouth), but most called him mad and unpredictable.
But today he wore a frown instead of a smile, was less bird-like and more pitiable kitten drenched in the rain. Dragging out a sigh and a sob, Crowley threw his arms around Raven. His talons dug into his mark, the other hand woefully stroking her hair—hair which would have dampened if he had released any real tears.
"Raven-kun!!" he cried out, “Oh, it’s awful! Dreadful! The most preposterous thing happened to me on my morning stroll. You’ll hear me out, won’t you, my dear niece?”
Awful? Dreadful? Preposterous? More awful, dreadful, and preposterous than the slew of Overblots that had plagued their once-peaceful academy? She had her doubts, but entertained him nevertheless.
"… Alright, what has got you so out of sorts?" Raven asked wearily. (Her question came out muffled, on account of being pressed against her guardian’s chest.) She had learned to be patient with him, but prepared for the catastrophizing.
Perhaps the cafeteria ran out of his favorite meat pies. He’s been looking forward to that all week.
“I found a gaggle of students skipping class!” Crowley burst out, breaking their hug. Exaggerated distress turned his voice into a trill. “On Main Street, of all places! Before the very eyes of the most venerable Great Seven! They would surely be heartbroken to know that the children of today sullied the good name of Night Raven College!”
Raven tried to nod understandingly and pat his back. Quiet methods of coaxing him to let it all out
“Of course, I did my due diligence as headmaster of this esteemed institution and confronted the boys at once,” Crowley continued—puffing with a pinch of pride at the mention of his status before soon deflating. “Ooh, but I was so rudely rebuked!! The students ignored my very reasonable plea to return to class, then proceeded to ignore or insult me—ME!! Their beloved headmaster!
"Belittled and bullied by my very own pupils…" He sniffed loudly. "It’s a cruel fate, but someone has to discipline ignorant, misbehaving children--and so it fell upon my shoulders! I unleashed my Lash of Love upon them and deposited the hooligans back in Professor Trein's lecture!"
"You did what you could to resolve the situation, Uncle," Raven replied, her words carefully stroking his ego. "You are ever so magnanimous."
"I am, aren't I!" Crowley agreed. "Alas, a teacher's work is thankless! What has come of the younger generation?! And what have I done to deserve this kind of treatment? All I've ever done is work tirelessly to ensure that our Night Raven College provides high-quality education!"
"Well... You don't exactly command authority with your attitude or how you carry yourself. Truly, when most picture the archetype of a 'headmaster of an arcane academy', they tend to imagine someone... different. If you want to be perceived differently, it may help to present new parts of yourself to the students."
Like maybe actually doing your job instead of delegating tasks to teenagers and having them solve all your problems..
"Show them your strengths and good points," Raven suggested, "traits worthy of respect."
Crowley's beady, golden eyes suddenly lit up. They bore into Raven from the pitch-black holes in his mask.
"That’s it!" he declared, perking up. “If I’m to garner respect, I ought to try and demonstrate the true breadth of my kindness. Perhaps then they will take note of the power hierarchy and bend an ear to my commands!”
“Er, that’s not exactly what I meant…”
Crowley swept away from her, beginning to pace back and forth. A finger curled at his chin, his mind set in deep contemplation.
“The issue now is, how will I appear approachable to begin with? My visage is far too grand to tamp down, and I’m afraid my decades of wisdom are useless against accusations of being ‘old’ and ‘out of touch’!!“
Those comments really hit him hard, huh…
“Have you considered taking up a hobby instead of fixating on public opinion? It just may help you clear your thoughts.” Raven gestured at her desk. “I myself partake in writing as an outlet.”
In an instant, the headmaster was at her side. He nosily peered over his niece, practically leering down at the contents of her papers.
Stories that started with Once upon a times and then diverged, walking along a multitude of paths to endings yet to be determined. Heroes and villains and the people that supported them, coming together in grand casts. New places, new experiences, new feelings.
Connections, ways of bridging the gap between hearts.
“H-Hey…! I never said you could look. These are private projects,” Raven protested, hurrying to cover up her scripts.
Too late. A giddy shine had already risen to the headmaster’s eyes.
Oh no. I know that look!
“Dearest Raven,” Crowley cooed, a clawed hand finding its way onto her shoulder, “how generous of you to lend your assistance to your sad old uncle! Fufufu, it appears as though the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!"
"What are you on about now?" It slowly dawned on her, and she paled. “Don’t tell me…”
"This is the solution for my... I mean, our predicament!" Crowley lifted a paper and a waved it around like a triumphant flag. “Written word has the power to influence. With your help, we can conduct an interview, spread stories of my great kindness and power, sway the consensus!”
Ah, a coordinated PR strategy. Raven frowned. His usual fallback.
The trick would work on most people beyond the campus grounds, but not on the students within. Not when there was already a narrative in place: the tale of the carefree, bumbling, useless man at the helm of the school. Pitiable, easily kicked around. And there was some truth to it--truth that could only be twisted so far before it fell into the realm of outright fantasy.
Most did not realize how truly frightening a man cloaked by the shadows could be.
“I understand wanting to spruce up your image, but there is only so much that can do for you. People will believe what they want to believe, regardless of what new information is presented to them."
Raven sighed, picking her quill back up and dipping it in an inkwell. Rich black fluid, darker than the darkest night, rose up into the nib. She offered the writing implement to her guardian, who stared at it in confusion.
"If you want their views on you to change, that is something you will have to earn for yourself. The words must come straight from its source and be genuine."
“Raven-kun…”
She pressed the quill into Crowley’s palm.
From here on out, the story is up to you.

What are your top picks for your favorite Good Omens fanfics? 👀
-AnnTickwittee
Oh my dear AnnTickwittee, THANK YOU for this ask. There are a bunch of great ones out there but here are some I've loved recently! Also, everyone PLEASE feel free to leave more recs in comments or reblogs or tags! I LOVE a good fic!
Weirdly, most of my faves were written before S2 premiered - PLEASE recommend me some good S2 stuff, and ones you'd consider staples in the GO fandom - I've missed out on a LOT of great content - help me find it/catch up! (Note: All fics listed below are COMPLETE and feature happy endings.)
---
1. The Rose and the Serpent by @brightwanderer | Rating: M | Status: Complete | Chapters: 12 | Word Count: 55,795 | Published: 2020-05-31 | Completed: 2020-08-15
Summary: AU, retelling of “Beauty and the Beast”. Quite honestly, sending Aziraphale off into the forest to be held hostage by a giant snake in a cursed castle isn’t even the worst thing Gabriel’s ever done to him, and at least it means a change of scene. But then neither the snake nor the castle turn out to be quite what he’s expecting…
My Review: Fave fave FAVE at the moment! I discovered this one from this tiktok, fully thinking it was going to be a silly little romp and was instead met with beautiful prose, adorable banter, and moments that literally made me go "AWW" out loud (which I NEVER do). I meant to read a few chapters per night before bed and then accidentally read the whole thing in one go. I stayed up until 4am reading and then woke up 4 hours later STILL thinking about it. Aziraphale is the perfect lead in this one, with Crowley as the wily yet lovable snake that lives in a cursed/enchanted castle with some familiar faces. CLASSIC pining ensues. The author does a great job of world building and character development and I find myself wishing I could read it again with fresh eyes. It's beautiful and adorable and I can't recommend it enough. Favorite quote: "'I love him,' he said. 'Let me in.' And the gates swung open before him."
---
2. a lighthouse (burning) by @books-and-omens | Rating: M | Status: Complete | Chapters: 12 | Word Count: 108,477 | Published: 2022-03-26 | Completed: 2023-06-13
Summary: In good weather, one can see the lighthouse at the Rock from the shore: a dot on the horizon, a distant star flashing red and white and red again. It’s been dark for a fortnight, of course—ever since the incident that every newspaper had breathlessly written about, that the paper-boys on the corners had shouted themselves hoarse over. This is where Aziraphale is headed: it is his duty, after all, to find out what happened, to make sure that the beacon can be safely lit once again. He does not expect Crowley to follow him to the windswept isle, to the lonely lighthouse at what could just as well be the edge of the world. Crowley follows him anyway.
My Review: THIS ONE! This one is a good old fashioned mystery! The humans believe this lighthouse is haunted, especially since its last three keepers vanished without a trace, but Aziraphale and Crowley know that can't possibly be the case. As such, they decide to investigate for themselves. It's an adorable slow burn period piece that had me weeping at certain points with twists and turns abound, and I really liked how the author handled the mystery and lore! Deep lore is tough to do convincingly and I found myself believing everything the author said. I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I KIND OF clocked what the author was going for with their mystery. Their explanation for everything was far better than anything my monkey brain could have come up with. Also that S2 ep of OFMD that featured a lighthouse in the beginning came out after I read this fic and I got all giddy thinking about Aziracrow here. I literally don't think I'll ever see a lighthouse again and not think of this gorgeous fic. EDIT: Also, here's a YouTube video that appeared in my recommended shortly after I read this. It's super interesting that disappearances like this have happened in real life 😱
---
3. If We've Got Nothing (We've Got Us) by @kedreeva | Rating: G | Status: Complete | Chapters: 4 | Word Count: 19,897 | Published: 2019-06-17 | Completed: 2020-03-02
Summary: Two months after the failed apocalypse Aziraphale finds the first dark feather growing in his wings. A story about middle grounds, ineffable plans, and what happens when the world doesn't end.
My Review: Another fic I found on Tiktok. The edit itself was so gorgeous I decided to give it a go and was not disappointed. It was written before S2 was even announced so it takes some liberties with fanon (Crowley was Raphael in the canon of this world, etc), but it's a lovely, relatively quick read. Crowley and Aziraphale are on their own side, finally, and soon, others join their ranks. All while God watches from afar. The prose is beautiful and I come back to the tiktok all the time (I saved it onto my phone lol). It was also fun to go back and rewatch the tiktok after reading and realize that the editor stitched together parts from each chapter into something new and amazing. It's not a romantic fic, not in the way the others are; it cares more about the aftermath of an apocalypse and shades of gray and how the universe came to be in the first place. I love the POV of God reminiscing on creation and thought it was very well written. Absolutely loved this one! (@anntickwittee, this was the fic I was referring to in the tags of this post, which is probably what prompted you to leave this ask in the first place! 😊)
---
4. All That's Best of Dark and Bright by @hope-inthedark | Rating: T | Status: Complete | Chapters: 1 | Word Count: 5,648 | Published: 2020-06-22
Summary: When Crowley drops a bomb on a church, Aziraphale falls in love with him. This should be a secret, but unfortunately, Aziraphale's never been much good at keeping them.
My Review: A one-shot expanding on the 1941 minisode (2019) BEFORE the S2 minisode canonically expanded on it. Recap: Aziraphale's just realized he's in love with Crowley (thank you Michael Sheen for that AMAZING acting choice) and this fic is the author's interpretation of what might have happened after the show cut away from the burning church. I was floored by how many parallels made it from this fic into the actual show both directly and indirectly (Aziraphale says "Not as such" at one point and I'm pretty sure I burst into tears and/or yelped loudly). It's got a good bit of angst to it, the same kind from S2 that makes you scream "WHAT ARE YOU DOING! HE'S RIGHT THERE!" with a happy ending that helped heal my shattered heart. I definitely cried reading this one (affectionate). It's extremely fluffy at the end which EYE LOVE, so if that's your thing, I highly recommend! Favorite Quote: "'I’m afraid I’m quite terribly in love with you,' Aziraphale said unceremoniously. Crowley, who had been in the process of sitting up, promptly fell off the sofa."
---
5. the two shepherds of uruk by lupinely | Rating: E | Status: Complete | Chapters: 1 | Word Count: 24,963 | Published: 2023-10-09
Summary: After Aziraphale goes back to Heaven with the Metatron, Crowley reflects. And 4,400 years ago in 2407 BC, in the city of Uruk in ancient Sumer, he and Aziraphale fall in love with humanity, and each other. - “What are you doing here?” asked Aziraphale. Crowley lifted an eyebrow and felt himself start to smile. “I should ask you the same. What are you thinking, coming here with your wings out and the blessed light of Heaven raining down upon you? You’re scaring the mortals.” Aziraphale blushed. Crowley dutifully looked away. It felt disrespectful not to.
My Review: This one-shot is a love letter to history and humanity. I think I found it on twitter? Unfortunately I don't have a link to the tweet or the author's tumblr. What I really love about this one is that the author adds footnotes like the original Good Omens book does. You can absolutely feel the love and care that went into writing and researching for this particular fic, which I can really appreciate as a fellow writer. (For all my Bildad the Shuhite stans out there, this story takes place after, but the vibes are VERY SIMILAR. If you even care.) Crowley and Aziraphale are in Uruk to keep an eye on the humans as they try to build a structure tall enough to reach God (the Tower of Babel). Theoretically, they can both return to their respective sides, but opt to stay on earth (with each other) for 10 years to watch the construction unfold. Pining ensues, NSFW ensues, and as the author puts it, "now featuring Aziraphale as a little country girl tending her sheep ♥" I highly recommend if you want to be sucked into another time period/biblical story and feel MANY different feelings (with a happy ending!)
---
I have more bookmarked that I could absolutely recommend if anyone is interested, but these 5 are just the ones that have stuck out to me the most recently!! Believe me, I could go ON, but this post is long enough for now.
If you DO read any of these, please chat with me about them, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Happy reading!

They seem nice. A companion to the plants would be a good idea.

ur so right abt gomens and gender. like all the time but especially when talking abt transphobia. nearly got doxxed for using she/her pronouns for crowley once because “crowley is male-presenting!!!!!!1!!!1! you can’t do that!!!!” insane response. if people like that saw the kind of divine visions you see abt crowley theyd disintegrate i think
TYSMMM I feel annoying whenever I talk abt it but like it really is so important. And can I be honest for a second. I think a lot of this "Crowley is 'male-presenting' (whatever that means) so you can Only use he/him for him ever" comes from like. younger transmascs? I say as a 19-year-old transmasc myself so don't get me twisted lmao. but who do a lot of Projection onto Crowley and thus are uncomfortable with the notion of Crowley being perceived as a woman and/or as feminine. Which I think uh sucks! Especially as a nonbinary, she/him type myself. Idk I feel like for as much as I see people praise gomens for its "nonbinary queer rep" or whatever and throwaway shit like Crowley being "neither nice nor a lad," people really shut down around like. expressions of nonbinary-ness that aren't "basically just cis people" or "perfectly androgynous" (which doesn't leave a lot of room for the multigender/genderfluid Thing Crowley seems to have going on). And Crowley is skinny and white-looking so she already has a leg up in that regard on characters like Beelzebub, Muriel, or even Aziraphale when it comes to people who need to do some serious unpacking recognizing her as nonbinary/"androgynous". But there's still a default to like, sticking top surgery scars on most-of-the-show Crowley and calling that Groundbreaking Gender Fuckery He/Him Only that I think is unfair to Crowley, more importantly to me, and most importantly to women. You know?
