hello ! my name is third king january but feel free to call me third or january ( or any other nickname you'd like ) ! i'm a twenty two year old black lesbian pursuing a graphic design major with a minor in art history and creative writing—considering media studies—who uses they/them pronouns !

ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧ :⠀ 🍓. i think this may be my third or fourth time trying out a writeblr, but the other attempts didn't go well since i was busy and didn't put a lot of effort into interacting with my mutuals </3. this time around, i really want to be a part of the community and be more supportive of everyone's writing! my goal for this account is to share my wips, any writing, and keep motivated to do more than just stare at a blank document for hours </3.

i'm a big reader and i plan to share some of my recently reads on this blog. please feel free to send me book recs if you think it's something i might like or if you just wanna ramble about something you read that you really liked! my favorite genres are horror, magical realism, fairy tales and fantasy. i love beautiful prose that's almost poetic and ambiguous writing that has you questioning everything until the grand reveal.

my favorite books are: bunny by mona awad, deathless by catherine m. valente, and how to win the time war by amal el-mohtar and max gladstone. the last two books helped me understand the kind of writing style i want to strive for as did poetry !! i don't have a whole lot of fav poems, but worm king's lullaby by richard siken is one that's always spinning in my head.

alongside reading i like manga, webtoons, videogames, and anime. my all time favorite anime is hyouka followed by angel beats and clannad. my favorite webtoon is omniscient reader's viewpoint and i can't recommend it enough. it's soosososo good! ( i started with the webtoon before switching to the novel bc i was too impatient to wait for the updates ) my favorite games are the halo series and oxenfree.

other interests of mine include music, drawing, art, watching youtube videos, journaling, horror movies, and sleeping 😴. i have a few graphic novels / webcomics in my wips so i'm learning how to draw to make them a reality! i also have a video game that's tied to another wip so i'm getting into coding as well !

the story follows two ex band mates reconnecting in their adult years after they parted ways when their front man signed a major record deal.

sisyphus stars three siblings at the center of a conspiracy 1!1!1 the oldest sibling, an astronaut, goes missing during a privately funded space mission embarking to a new planet found in the solar system. i wouldn't call this a greek retelling, but it does a feature a lot of nods to classic greek myths!

atwe follows the mother of a teen superhero getting revenge after her kid is killed by an unknown villain. though it's my own special take on superheroes featuring my personal criticisms on teen heroes, it's also a study on family—in particular—distant family relations and saying i love you a little too late.

📝 𖹭 ⠀ֵ⠀ wip four ; march marchen ( title will definitely change )

march marchen is my sort of alice in wonderland / fairy tale retelling that follows an unnamed girl in what might be wonderland trying to figure out who she is and who she isn't. ft parallel worlds, escapism, the fear of childhood, and the fear of adulthood.

📝 𖹭 ⠀ֵ⠀ wip five ; neapolitan ( title will definitely change )

neapolitan is a magical girl webcomic / graphic novel. the story follows a trio of girls becoming the successors of a long line of ice cream inspired magical girls. ft a bright fun palette, gore, and cannibalism! though it's a webcomic, i intend to give it a novelization from the perspective of a different set of magical girls.

My To Read List Keeps Growing

But I keep getting distracted by fan fic:

Deathless Gods by P.C. Hodgell: I have been reading this in fits and starts. This one involves some political machinations by Caldane Caineron, and Jame going off with the army to fulfill a mercenary contract. It is of course, way more complicated than that.

Beyond, by Mercedes Lackey: I am haven’t been able to read this very far. I think I would have loved it back in my teens, because it’s about the Founding of Valdemar.

Scorpica, by G.R. Macallister: I haven’t been able to start this at all and might have to go back to it.

The Last Graduate and The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik: I am working my way through the Last Graduate and making better headway.

Delicious in Dungeon: Cute though at times vaguely disturbing manga involving murder hoboes learning to forage/hunt monsters for their dinner. I’m on the eight volume.

Books I’m waiting for:

Witch King, by Martha Wells: I am VERY excited. It looks like an interesting read, with an interesting protagonist.

Translation State by Anne Leckie: I have previously mentioned why I’m excited but I’ll say again: Translators.

Seto : A little further! The room is close by!

Solva : You sure? It's only a mile away from here! Darn! If it not's that big of a much threat, we would definitely save this Maka girl if we stick together!

Seto : I always needed a plan!

Solva : Like what?

Seto : Like we needed to take him down!

Solva : But how?

*SA1 SFX : Stop*

Seto : Darn! We're too late! Maka's not here in her room! Nightmare must've taken her to the Moon!

Solva : The Moon! Whatever that is! We gotta get there, before the Wizard Nightmare will plunge a curse into one's story, a story that Soul Eater takes place inside of Maka's head!

Seto : You mean the Story of that manga will be taking place inside of her dreams!?

Solva : Something like that!

Seto : Don't worry, Solva! I'll be right back! I'm going to the moon! *DBZ SFX : Instant Transmission*

Nightmare : Well, in that case. See this girl, she will become a fine specimen of being a hero in the world of Soul Eater, a place where others exist in Real World and her world that takes place all in a dream.

Seto : You plan on doing that to yourself? So It's come into sudden fruition that Soul Eater's story predicted her fighting an evil god on the moon that will be the final battlefield. Why does the moon of Soul Eater existed.

Nightmare : In the 2010s, the SE Moon that Atsushi Ohkubo designed would turn itself into a black hole, causing her entire world to be vanished on the verge of destruction and extinction, which she became a target that will kill her in sleep. She would be amazing as she was like a sleeping beauty who would wake up in a hundred years.

Seto : You! So that's your plan of tricking Maka into being the hero who would wake up to reality! You're making her as the Ohkuboverse's 2nd destroyer! I wouldn't expected if you would put all of us in a sleeping spell as much of the galaxy and the universe.

Nightmare : Well, that's the reason that people wanted become heroes of their own story in each of their dreams. You will be a righteous somebody who wanted to foil my plans, a plan to eradicate those who live on this planet. Very well, I shall make you mincemeat for to those who always wanted to kill a godly being that has no heart, neither a single soul would dare go against me!

Kirby : Hi-Yah!

Nightmare : You again!

I hope you and pink marshallow will be happy to know that this girl can any god that tried to corrupts any planets, but the heartless will even squander the opportunity of making Earth their's, but I realize that the true enemy of Soul World is a heartless himself, Darkside Death.

Seto : Darkside Death? Wasn't that the name of a Heartless who went into hiding a 1000 years ago?

Nightmare : It was Shinra's master plan to stop the spreading conflicts from the Ohkuboverse that was destroyed 1000 years ago when the Time Eater arrived to scold Shinra and his people to be annihilated same goes to the true mother of witchkind that was executed by the same entity! When my research is completed, I despise those despicable Gorgon Witch Sisters who were the enemies to Truth itself when it comes to the spreading lies from the devil himself, Mr. Shinra Kusakabe!

Seto : Amazingly, You hardly knew everything about the situation going on! I demand that respect and all we wanted is some peace for both humans and witches together, I will never make a sudden movement of why did Maka's hatred fueling heart like her's and others that requires pain!?

Nightmare : In the addition to the research, I believe that Darkside Death the heartless was using these youths in order to gain supreme to take over the world and bring power to humanity in order to make Maka strong from Shinra's influence, an influence of the Devil that spreaded across the world 1000 years ago! This made humans and witches becoming an arrogant species that will never understand pain and suffering that it True or lie!

Seto : Amusing, isn't it? Well, that happens to me when I come to sudden fruition that Maka Albarn will definitely wake from that world to reality when she erases Soul World by waking herself up! I didn't recall on you for being such a drag! Now hand over that girl!

Nightmare : Finders keepers! You want her back, then come and get me! Fight me, if you dare!

Seto : Hey! That's Goku's line!

Nightmare : He's that entity who was trying to conquer this galaxy after his dream would not fail him when his creation, the Evangelist, was completely annihilated by Shinra before he was banished to the same dimension were it became his prison. But in the meantime, when someone tries to collect all seven world rings, the hero will reach the end of his or her tale.

Seto : So, what you're saying is that the Ohkuboverse is in chronological order?

Nightmare : Gladly you might ask, but in fruition, the real Ohkuboverse was erased entirely by the Time Eater and everyone who tried to get the Seven Rings in hand totalt! So, what'll be? Deal or no deal?

Seto : Then I suggested that it's a deal, when it comes to deal or no deal, you'll be happy to be full of surprises on whether what happens to this planet, it will be one heck of a party. I don't how things are gonna work by the year 2013, they say that Shinra might comeback as human two years after this girl named Homura Akemi created a new era that is 2013! That is something that we truly predict that 2013 will be the end of this here planet, Darkside Death might return and will conquer the planet in total darkness! That Lord Death was nothing more than a heartless jerk.

Nightmare : Rhetorical theory, Deathless. But it shall be those who knows about Darkside Death that is the one responsible for leading the four emperors of Evil. Every Villain Is Lemons. Otherwise known as Evil itself!

Seto : Sounds predictable. Every Villain Is Lemons indeed. Also, I don't like references. They totally bug me! But I made everyone a promise that I will become the world's greatest Shinigami as I make my way through that Lord Death crap of theirs! And to give you a simple, I suggest that I am giving Soul World the magic wand that they'll ever have! (flips Nightmare off) Simple as that I might add!

Nightmare : You have quite the opposite for a deathless who wanted to bring no intention on telling others what to do for their selves. But if you wanted Witches to be never harmed by Darkside Death, then I suggest you should banish Darkside Death back into the Realm of Darkness where he belongs. But I'll be back in the 2010s...Begone with you! *magically snaps fingers!*

Now I understand why Soul Eater began to exist in the real world.

Seto : Damn! That Lord Nightmare got us good. He put the Sleeping Beauty curse onto this girl, it's like she'll be waking up with True Love's Kiss. That could work, So is Maka dead or what? No, still in a Sleeping Beauty's curse. The curse must be lifted by the kiss of her true love. I'm beginning to find out where I can a true love's kiss.

*DING!*

Solva : Hey, Seto! I got an idea! I know how to make true love's kiss work on this Sleeping Beauty curse, If only Disney knows that a true's love's kiss would might work in fairy tales. Fairy tales, I know of a guy that'll that Maka Albarn first met in the past after the boy who saved her life after the creating The Shattering Event in Japan. (searches something in the book and puts her finger on the page) Aha! I know just a guy, he's an elite member of the Phantoms of Societ and they that he fights bad guys that are criminals as the Phantom of Justice.

wait i don't use goodreads/storygraph that much anymore so i have no idea what anyone is reading;/// i do tend to stick to manga & light novels because my brain shuts down when i try to read anything else *sigh,,, i'm v glad you liked deathless!!! i still remember feeling it as i read it, it's a very kinesthetic and tactile book and i would bob my head along to how rhythmic the lines fell!!!! i would love to try out buddy reads!!! i haven't been reading new releases at all lately, the last book i read being 'body keeps the score' for therapy & 'a burial at thebes' + 'antigonick';;; there are a couple of books i really want to try reading like 'the memory police', 'the tale of the time being', & 'earthlings' but haven't gotten around to due to brain stuff gfxbgfc ALSO THE LYRICS OF THE GREAT WAR ARE NOT LEAVING MY HEAD MS. SWIFT I NEED YOU TO GTFO FBGDXBG i hope the weekend/week is kind to you my dude!!!!!

ohh well there's absolutely nothing wrong with any of that! reading whatever you can manage to focus on is probably the only right way to approach books. ((and i also had some periods i read basically nothing at all for up to 2 years. i think that's a normal thing that happens sometimes.)) you're so right about deathless!!! the language is so strong and expressive and rhythmic it carries you through the story easily because it just flows so effortlessly. ohhh i read the body keeps the score in march (someone mentioned it in class on transdiagnostic therapy approaches once which sparked my interest.) if you're interested in a buddy read, earthlings has been on my tbr for ages, and it being around 200 pages makes it a manageable pick to restart one's reading. so just hit me up if you ever feel like starting it! also PLS there hasn't been a day since october i haven't thought about the great war—it's in my top 10 most played songs of the year so far. such a good song!!! we both simply have fantastic taste, it seems.

Eponine (Ayami Nakajo) suffered love or hate with her parents -- he doesn’t know how deep the pain is. Maybe reference relation with Iz and our parents here. uh example? dad hitting eponine’s porcelain doll; doll must have name because they’re a person too : doll name is Ceridwen because Eponine is friends with Ceri in real life. (REF: that blonde BJD doll -- separate aesthetic ; cassian ic. ) functions: REF - blender documentation. doll then seeks revenge on dad. just eponine talking about it and trying to explain to iz and iz thought it was terrible. another thing would be iz trying to be the faraway bridge of healing between us & parents but hard because communication confusion ; the quote, that deathless quote. and then iz forgot about it.

He has been scared of becoming someone like billy russo, entirely, like with his dry bleeding skinned hands from strenuous soldier training at the battle of waterloo (pg. 180 les miserables manga : marius mention thenardiers.) he has perhaps also being called in to help in actual battles, as a young recruit.

he had to have part of his hand aligned with metal fillings. like i had light transparent holes on the tooths near my removed wisdom teeth & they said to use dental floss so hole doesn’t get bigger : overall toothbrush/paste clean & floss of mouth. the metal aligns with pattern of his palm lines, of above and below -- light transparency glinting in surface -- for cleaning between braces or bridges. so the way he has to take care of it, so it doesn’t get infected would be to use floss of either string or an interdental brush covered with toothpaste because he doesn’t know where the dentist got the special floss paste aligned string from. he wears strawberry lip balm, as he likes the taste, but also to moisture his dry lips. and thety said&& worries from his plethora of which skin cream will be good for my skin — that if the issue is not solved — he would need to have his hand of reddening deformity creeping up to his arm amputated — to have a metal hand like violet evergarden — supported by Eponine saying — “omg, Cass your hands/arms!” — i think maybe just partially metal to be more realistically fiction suspension of disbelief/belief (sp?)

that remind me, I need to start putting Sorbelene, white cream to soothe the tortured flesh on my hands during the day more regularly. And not stay too long in the hot water steam / shower in general and uses timer but it’s still hard to find time limit bc Mum/Eponine say you spend too long in shower still (fiction edit para later).

He is a soldier to some cause (RE: Purple Hearts soldier) so he cannot always hang out with thenardiers relatives. and the contrasts of before and after. He is quiet brave, in the usual meanderings of life, not when he thinks he’s under constant threat of war (RE: Wilfred Owen’s poems and others).

And is incorporating his usual quiet wallflower to calmly include others in his circle like in that bee picture. can i climb trees? no, i am not spider monkey.

And he is curious to know what the rune engravings are, as he was probably taught witches were bad. a black cloth (a pattern with a bee on it), the rune white and black stone bags, a light pink casting bowl, brown book with purple flowers/green stems, star symbol in circle -- spooky thread ic stuff. Cass vibes with this arrangement somehow for some reason, and wears the nirvana shirt. He has slender fingers of pianist, with black painted long nails, his ‘claws,’ yet a lightly applied shine of deep pink (the same colour as this profile decoration).

Well he typically plays piano — yet frisbee playing is less restrictive : as it allows him to have more freedom. yet! frisbee playing is like a bee flying into his face : good or bad? uh has the bee ever stung him? well, a wasp has stung me many times before but when i was unaware. yet! there was one time i tried to wave the wasp away and i felt it sting me. yet he is training to shield and return the frisbee throw. oh wait! i think that was actually a mosquito same thing. oh also when a bee is near, do not make too sudden movements, because it could perceive you as a threat and sting. like bee near me during outside wedding for isabella and tamlin at that ranch place/ and me scared but tried not to move -- act natural as nature.

He has maybe metal bee earrings like in aesthetic linked tag. jem wanting to consume yin fen to keep him as burning bright as star. ++ the educating Rita essay about her thinking she bipolar.

he relates to the song, monsoon tokio hotel, like when he hurried outside in the hailstorm trudging through the muddy grass, to hastily rescue clothes from clothesline, slinging clothes over his shoulder, including Eponine’s clothes, some random clothes fall to ground, as he tries to tears them all off the line onto his shoulders all at once, and they go muddy -- she annoyed at how drenched/wrinkled clothes became as she feels like they resemble rags, so together in the dilapidated walls of their house, they iron the clothes, and get a clothes basket with more depth. This hurry demeanour ties into his phantom automated stance of previous life of soldier training.
