He Chose You (Pt. 8)

Lucifer/Reader: Lucifer chooses you to be the mother of his child. Rated E.

The illness persists in the weight of your skin over your bones yet the loss of actual muscle and fat that turn you skeletal. Your legs become bow-like and pain radiates just above your hairline. Your vision crackles with scattered flashes of black dots, and you drink like a man lost in the desert.

Only foods that are red stay down, and even then you only nibble at peppers and plug your nose at the raw meat you stuff in your mouth. You feel the sunlight outside your window when you open it up and stick your hand through, as walking out of your apartment is a chore you can only handle once a week at most.

Once a homebody, reclusive out of necessity and exhaustion from simple interactions, you now live for Lucifer’s chatter. His presence abates your fever, physically and emotionally. The dependence on him, as sweet as he appears, makes you itch inside.

Everything is terrible, you tell yourself at least once per day, as the illness persists.

But if Lucifer is good at anything, it’s providing you with distractions from the ever-present suffering.

The sounds you made put the Angelic Choir to shame.

“Lucifer, don’t say that!”

The King of Hell’s laugh was muffled as he stayed buried in your cunt. The memory of you being so flustered was almost just as sweet.

He eyed your tightly screwed expression just over your growing belly, and felt gratified at his idea to have you propped up by pillows from head to hips. With the boost, Lucifer could watch you enjoy yourself and remain comfortable.

Let him feel the springs of your mattress dig into his knees and stomach. They were secondary to the pain of his own hardness straining in his slacks.

A keen from you, and the feeling of your nails as they raked through his hair and over his scalp, had Lucifer moaning. His eyes rolled back, momentarily blinded by euphoria.

“Ooh!”

Eyes snapping open, Lucifer lifted himself from the bed quickly. His tongue slipped out of you, dripping onto the sheets when he was mindless to reeling it back in.

“Why’d you stop?” Your whine between quick pants made him blink.

One eye at a time.

“I thought I hurt you.” He smiled, sheepishly, once his tongue was back in his mouth.

His mauve-lids and golden lashes fluttered when you wiped the slick from his chin. There was no missing the color that had returned to your cheeks with all the exertion he was putting you through, and he felt a swell of pride at being able to breathe life back into you. So to speak.

“Heaven help me.” You said, sarcastically.

Breathlessly.

The Devil’s hips jerked when your hand rose to grip a fistful of his blond hair. You manually lowered him back between your legs, heedless to the way his entire frame shivered.

‘I think I… I think I’m in love with her.’ Lucifer looked so earnest, meeting the glow of Ozzie’s stare.

The Sin clucked a tongue in his King’s direction, shaking his head. ‘Well, don’t tell her that. You’re gonna scare her away, man.’

Lucifer watched you fall apart from just his tongue (its length and width being inhuman notwithstanding).

You were so beautiful like this. Legs shaking, body spasming, letting go.

‘I love you.’

Man’s (alleged) Greatest Enemy could just barely contain himself.

‘I love you I love you I love you’

Lucifer brings you another scroll one sunny day, and you find it riddled with names.

“I’ve been thinking about what to call him or her, so I made a list! …Kinda, sorta during a meeting… whatever, it wasn’t that important!”

Oh, you could see that.

“Do you like any of them? Which are your favorites? No! Gimme your top 5!” His jubilation is so innocent, but something inside you hitches.

“Does it actually matter what I think?” You chuckled.

“Of course it does!” He cried. “You’re the mo— uh… you’re putting in most of the work!”

The weak save went unchallenged. You were already circling names, likening the process to navigating a minefield as you looked through a long line of names you couldn’t even pronounce or read.

Azor

Carlton’

“What about a girl?” Lucifer asked out of the blue.

Your head cocked to the side as you realized your picks had been relegated to just one side of the endless list. That he’d written down names for boys and for girls struck you as odd.

“You think it’ll be a girl?”

Lucifer looked at you with a curious gaze. “Could be, couldn’t it?”

After a moment, you shrugged. “I guess so…”

The King’s confusion crinkled around his eyes and caused an uncanny few lines in his otherwise perfect forehead. You flick the pen at him teasingly to wipe the look from his face.

You write a few names down, and watch with a smirk as his frown turns upside down.

‘Adrienne

Charlotte

Maleficent’

You ignored the painful thought that this was a pointless endeavor. Naming a dead thing.

With eyebrows raised, you sat waiting dutifully, hands clasped over your stomach while he rummaged through the box.

“Aha!” He pulled out two red objects, one in each hand, and knee’d the chest out of the way to present them to you.

“Surprise!”

Two remarkably crafted stuffed animals were set before you on the couch cushion.

Goats.

It took you a second to place them, staring at their intricate appearances — covered in fluffy red fur from head to cloven hoof, with large yellow eyes and tiny red smiles stitched on their stark white muzzles.

Shiny, metallic-looking horns curled over the curvature of their little heads, tips almost touching the tiny approximations of wings protruding from their backs. You noticed that the little wings were also sticking out of the backs of their tiny tuxedo suits; solid black to further contrast their Luciferean color schemes.

An uncharacteristically high-pitched squeal escaped you.

Damn these hormones. You internally chastised yourself while reaching out to finger at the detailed plushies.

“They’re so cute!” You admired the unbelievable softness of one’s fur, hand overlapping with Lucifer’s as you turned it this way and that. His grin was so wide in your peripheral vision as he soaked up your fawning.

“Aren’t they?!” Lucifer squealed along with you. “They’re twins! But see this one has lighter fur and this one has sharper eyes. I tried to give them little differences so they had some individuality.”

“Michael and I looked so similar in the Beginning, a ton of people always got us mixed up. Sometimes it was fun, but I got tired of hearing him bitch about it after the first couple centuries.”

A more serene countenance overtook your counterpart, with his line of sight drifting off to the floor beside you. Lost in thought. Or perhaps reminiscing.

“Michael?” You asked gently.

“My brother.” Lucifer replied.

“Ohh, I think I remember… is he a Prince of Hell too?”

The formerly Divine man frowned. “… No. Not him.”

A shadow fell over you both, distant sadness suffusing the air. You reached for him instantly, only for Lucifer to switch on like a lightbulb and grin manically.

“Oh well! Who knows, maybe he took Dad’s side just to make sure no one ever confused us for each other ever again!”

You pulled away. “… right.”

Lucifer shook his head after a glance in your direction.

“Um, so, I was thinking…” He began. “Maybe we give one to the baby an-nd… one could stay here… with you…”

There was no hiding the confusion that crossed your face.

You ‘tsk’ed. “You wanna deny the baby half this cuteness?”

In response, Lucifer tittered, still adamant on looking around the room instead of meeting your gaze head on. “Hah, no. I was thinking that, maybe, we could keep one of them here and… and then they could reunite every time the baby and I… or just the baby… visit…”

Slow realization made your already weak constitution roil.

Perhaps, if you’d been yourself and not the hollow shell of a person you’d become while pregnant, you would’ve been angry. Or upset enough to shout. Maybe you would’ve gotten up and left him there on his lonesome, wordlessly demanding he not entertain that idea ever again.

Certainly, the You from before this insane, impossible scenario wouldn’t hesitate to react melodramatically.

You sighed, fiddling with one of the goat’s tails. “Oh Lou…”

He cringed beneath the weight of your words, laden with a heaviness that harshened his already guilty conscience.

“Wait, before you say no —” Lucifer felt his mouth running away from him. “Maybe you could think about it and then decide? Maybe after they’re born?”

“It doesn’t have to mean anything. I don’t expect anything from you.”

“You’re expecting me to be its mother.” Your tone broke no room for argument.

Mauve eyelids drooped as Lucifer looked down in shame. “I — ”

“I wouldn’t make a good mom.” Your statement stopped him in his tracks.

Frustration simmered in Lucifer, slowly creeping into his expression as you continued, unrelenting. His posture went rigid, hands beginning to clench at his sides.

“It’s not that I don’t care. I probably care too much, actually.” You admitted.

It was true. Regardless of your paranoia and how justified it was or not, the sole basis for why you felt the need to argue in the first place —

(And wasn’t that just pathetic? You had feelings for the Epitome of Evil and had entertained being safe and happy with him)

— the reality was that you’d been a broken human being before this cosmic impossibility entered your life.

“I just don’t…” You sighed. “I wouldn’t be a good part of their life if I was in it.”

Your head whipped up, vision spotting when Lucifer blurted:

“You are the best part of my life.”

He looked angry. Furious. So much so that the sclera around his irises began to radiate a blood-red.

“Do you know how hard it is? To leave you? I have to convince myself every single time that you’ll still be here when I return!” Lucifer claimed. “And soon I won’t even be able to do that!”

“I don’t want to say goodbye forever! I… I l…”

You shuddered, stiffening in your seat. As soon as he realized, Lucifer’s display was cowed.

“Fuck, are you alright? I’m not — I don’t know what came over me!”

You shook your head. “No.”

“It stopped.” You whispered.

Lucifer’s grip trembled around your wrists. “Stopped?”

His breathless echo of your words drew your eyes up. You saw the storm brewing in his ruby eyes, as even though he waited for you to elaborate, a million thoughts pelting at his brain like hail.

“The pain stopped.” You said.

Your hands felt over the bump beneath your breasts, as if you might find the imaginary ‘off’ button and turn it back on.

It was ludicrous to think about, but you immediately wished for the agony that had been crippling you to return if it meant that this baby wasn’t… wasn’t…

Tears glistened in your eyes. Lucifer drew you to his chest in spite of the fear that was pulling his shoulders taut.

“Wh-what did you do today? Anything different?” The ex-Angel asked shakily.

His eyes scanned you up and down, lingering on the little dolls he’d just gifted you.

“No… n-no, nothing different.” You said. “I was in bed all morning, and th… then Cass was here and we had tea… we went out and walked a little bit outside.”

“Did you fall?” The King hedged.

You gasped, eyes widening. Instinctively your arms wrapped around your middle at the foreign feeling emanating from within.

“Did…! You fell??” He panicked, grabbing onto you like a life raft. “Where? On what?!”

His words drifted away as you were enveloped in the strangest surge of feeling you’d ever experienced.

You could only just muster up the energy to shake your head.

Sudden warmth.

And pressure.

A tiny flutter, one you’d never felt before.

You inhaled quickly yet deeply at the feeling of something pressing against your belly-button from the inside.

It made you grin, hands coming back to grab for Lucifer’s own and to pull them to your stomach. “They’re alive!”

The man’s jaw went slack, staring sightlessly for just as long as it took to soak up the sudden heat there. The baby took pity on its poor, trembling father and kicked again.

It was Lucifer’s turn to gasp, looking back and forth between you and the bump with dawning awe.

“It is!” He laughed, a tad bit hysterically. “It — they are alive!”

“… And… glowing…”

“You’re glowing!”

Part two of The Strange Encounter, I hope you enjoy. Sorry that this isn't the best writing lol. I am struggling to figure out dialogue but I will continue to work on it :) Thank you <3

Summary: You recently moved back to Forks after not being in the town since you were eight. When your old friend Jacob Black asks you to come to a party down at La Push you accept. What's the worst that could happen?

"Y/N, I have to tell you something," Emrby said looking at you nervously. You look up at him seeing the determined but shaky look in his eyes, you sit down on the rock motioning him to join you. He sits down and stares at the ocean for a minute and you follow suit, after a long gaze he begins to speak "I don't think you were around long enough to hear the stories of our tribe" he says glancing at you and you give him a nod to signify that he's correct. He continues " We grew up with stories of our tribe, the warriors, the heroes, the loves, and for most of our life we believed them to be just that....stories" he sighs deeply before speaking again " But there is one story that we heard the most growing up, the story of the pale skins and the Quileute wolves" he keeps looking at your face nervously while talking, analyzing, seeing if he's said too much "The story goes that the Quileutes were descendent from wolves, yes real wolves, and that there was another "tribe" that was like an enemy clan" you look up at him understanding that he was telling you this for a reason but feeling very confused as to why "why are you telling me all this Embry?" you stare at him showing him that you are interested "Because it's all true Y/N, I am a werewolf and so is Jacob," he says finally. Your face goes from concern to shock in a matter of seconds "W..what?" he takes your hand and puts it to his chest "Do you feel how hot I am? I don't have a fever, I will always have this temperature. It never goes down" he lets go of your hand but it lingers for another second "You're being serious?" you say a little exasperated "I still down understand why you're telling me" you emphasize. He looks at you and then at the stars "There is another part of the story, werewolves have a mate called an imprint, that person is what ties them to the earth, they give the wolf meaning, they can be a lover, a friend, or just a protector. No matter the relationship the connection will always stay.." he looks back down at you with pure affection and attention "You are my imprint Y/N" You sit there completely frozen, and your mind starts racing, Embry and Jacob are werewolves, does that mean they all are? is that why he ran away? did he not want it to be me? what am I even supposed to say or do? holy shit this is confusing, he takes your hand again "The decision is completely up to you and what you decide, I understand this is a lot and we barely know each other but if you give me a chance I'd love to get to know you" Embry says gently. You stand up causing Embry to drop your hand he looks at you concerned like you are about to run away "I think I need time, this is all just too much" you say with a worried expression scared of how he will take it "I understand take as much time as you need" he says with a small smile but you can tell he's hurt. He stays seated and you start to walk away before you turn your head back to look at him one more time.

It's been two weeks since that night. You've spent these two weeks going through everything in your head over and over again. You have accepted that you are an imprint and that this is all real. Jacob has called you nonstop this past week, trying to get you to talk to him. You don't understand why he wants you to talk to him considering he's not the one who imprinted on you. His texts seem urgent but you've ignored every single one, needing to clear your mind and get away from everything for a while. You haven't even gone to work with your mom. Your parents are starting to get concerned, you haven't been eating much and rarely come out of your room. You're lucky school hasn't started for you yet. Embry hasn't called or texted once, you didn't give him your number but you figured Jacob would have. You have this ache in your chest and you don't know what it is, it's like a part of you is missing. You've never felt this way, all you want to do is lay in bed. You've wanted to text Jacob to ask for Embry's number too many times to count. You even thought about going to find Embry, you feel like you're going crazy missing him and you only had one conversation with him. Maybe this is a part of the connection you think to yourself.

As you sit on your bed reading you get a text message.

Jacob: Y/N it's about embry. Please answer the phone.

Y/N: What about Embry?

Jacob: I think it's best you see it in person. We're at Emily's.

When you get to Emily's you see Jacob waiting outside. You walk up to the porch and Jacob ushers you inside without a word. "What's going on Jake? is Embry okay?" you ask with a worried tone. Jacob still doesn't say anything and continues to walk through the house, you pass the pack, they're all staring at you with slightly concerned looks on their faces. You get to Embry's room and Jacob opens the door, when you see Embry your stomach drops at his appearance, he looks pale; unusual for his dark features, and he has dark circles around his eyes as if he hadn't slept for days. His head shoots up when he realizes you are at the door he says your name but it comes out raspy and weak "What happened Embry, are you sick?" you walk closer to him and take his hand resting next to him on the bed. "I forgot to mention a key part of the imprint bond," he says voice still sounding weak "We can't be apart from our imprints for too long, or else we get very sick and weak" You look at him and grip his hand tighter "Why didn't you tell me, you should've asked Jacob for my number," you say in a slightly scolding tone you hear a laugh from behind you "Oh please, you wouldn't answer your phone for two weeks," Jacob said in an annoyed tone. He wasn't wrong but you still turned around and rolled your eyes at him "If you would've started with, Hey Y/N come quick Embry is sick and it's your fault, I would have been here sooner" you said snarkly. You looked at Embry seeing he was already starting to get back to his normal self. "Yeah, yeah whatever," Jacob said sarcastically as he left the room. "I'm so sorry I didn't know this would happen, I promise you'll never have to go through this again," you say genuinely. Embry just looked at you smiling, it didn't matter to him how sick and weak he was feeling, all that mattered to him was that you were here now. "I've thought about this a lot, I want to get to know you Embry, I'm really glad to be your imprint," you said smiling. Embry looked between your eyes with a huge grin on his face "Y/N" he said taking your face between his hands and bringing his face closer to yours "Can I kiss you?" you nodded your head, and his lips touched yours, at first softly and then both of you sunk into it. The kiss felt like fireworks, like the two of you were starving and the other was a michellen meal. You kissed until you couldn't breathe and when you finally separated you both just looked at each other and you knew everything had fallen perfectly into place.

She is exhausted, and her cheeks feel swollen with unshed tears–and Feyre’s eyelids grow so very heavy with each moonlit second that passes. The air becomes so thick with steam and the oily scent of her soap.

Carried on the swells and dips of illusory waves, Feyre settles into sleep. She is a stone sinking into a vast, incomprehensible sea.

Seconds before she reaches the bottom, it occurs to her that the tart flavor in her mouth is all wrong.

And she dreams.

One of her hands is behind her head, strands of hair caught in the vice made by her crooked fingers. The water is wrung out from it, and lands in fat drops on the floor behind her like rain.

Her other hand is beneath the surface of the bath, nails scraping down the skin of her belly and trying to carve coherency out of this fever that has her eyes screwed shut and her cheeks burning so hot that she hardly realizes the water has gone cold. Her lips are parted, and she keeps trying to catch them with the edges of her teeth.

Feyre cannot remember what she dreamed about, but her legs are restless. She bends one at the knee and turns it over the other, her thighs pressing together, and the relief she finds in that one movement alien enrages her so that she completely undoes the motion–only to repeat it again with the other leg, when she can take it no longer. Over and over, and the water begins to swish from side to side, splashing out and onto the floor.

Groaning, Feyre releases her hair, only to slap her hand down on the side of the tub as soon as it is free. She grips the edge so tightly it feels like her knuckles are about to tear through her skin, and with her other hand, she is raking long, red welts up the wide of her hip.

Between stilted, gasping breaths, Feyre inhales the scent of her soap. Something so unremarkable and so plain, that she would not have noticed it, if not for the way something else lingers at the edges. And her skin is burning and her nerves wound so tightly, and it might smell like flowers. Or frost.

Jasmine, she thinks. And citrus.

Hooray for plot rewriting

So, remember when I mentioned BF’sH came to be subdivided in 2 -then 3 arcs? Well, allow me to resume them like this:

I. Past present

-BF’s backstory in NG city + how he and GF knew each other, going from ‘neighbours’ to friend, and from friends to downstraight lovers (the Pico related events are also there, but I wrote them down a little differently than canonically stated by either Tom Fulp or Ninjamuffin)

II. Future present

-All the things that happened after FNF’s main events (mods). Some events remain the same; others are put in a different light, and so on. This was also meant to be BF’sH original story plot (y’know, when he comes back to the hood and shit) the one that’d take this arc, but after rewriting the stuff, I moved most of it to the third one instead

III. Hollow present

-Basically the same storyline of BF’sH, but now the Past Present and Future Present mash up protagonist-wise. Plus, BF’s family got kidnapped by the same people that fucked the hood up (Stephano and his gang), and some characters gather self-awareness and paradox deja vú (can’t describe exactly the feeling my brain hurts) referring to the events from OG BF’sH, which some of them were actually ‘corrupted’ or just not happening as they were thought in the start

And BF also finds out he’s not actually…well, the real BF, but an alternative instead (existencial crisis when)

…It’s a lot on this one, and I don’t know if I’ll make it as clear as possible through the sketchdump format, but yeah, shit’s flippin on this side of the fence

Let’s just get this one done with (for now)

The moment you realize the world is falling apart, your closest friend is basically dying and there isn’t much you can do about it

I have a pt who has pyelonephritis and I thought she was septic because she meets SIRS criteria and she has a source of infection (UTI). But she has no evidence of end organ damage, so I guess it's not sepsis. Also, since she apparently doesn't have risk factors for multi-drug resistant bugs, ceftriaxone is empiric broad-spectrum antibiotics. This is from UpToDate:

We use the term acute complicated urinary tract infection (UTI) to refer to an acute UTI with any features that suggest that the infection extends beyond the bladder (table 1). These include fever (eg, >99.9°F/37.7°C), other signs or symptoms of systemic illness (including chills, rigors, or altered mental status), flank pain, and costovertebral angle tenderness. By this definition, pyelonephritis is a complicated UTI, regardless of patient characteristics. This definition is distinct from traditional categorizations of UTI and is more focused on the clinical presentation and severity of illness.

●Relevant uropathogens include primarily Escherichia coli, but also other Enterobacteriaceae, other gram-negative bacilli (including Pseudomonas aeruginosa), staphylococci, enterococci, and Candida species. Risk factors for resistant organisms include recent broad-spectrum antimicrobial use, health care exposures, and travel to parts of the world where multidrug-resistant organisms are prevalent.

●Acute complicated UTI should be suspected in patients with dysuria, urinary frequency or urgency, or suprapubic pain who also have fever, chills, flank pain, or otherwise appear clinically ill. Acute pyelonephritis, specifically, should be suspected in patients presenting with fever and flank pain, even in the absence of typical symptoms of cystitis. In men, pelvic or perineal pain accompanying urinary symptoms suggests prostatitis. UTI is also often suspected in patients with pyuria and bacteriuria who have nonspecific signs of systemic illness, such as lethargy or delirium, or in patients with nonlocalizing fever or sepsis.

●For patients with suspected acute complicated UTI, we send urine for both urinalysis (either by microscopy or by dipstick) and culture with susceptibility testing. Imaging is generally reserved for those who are severely ill, have suspected urinary tract obstruction, have persistent symptoms despite 48 to 72 hours of appropriate antimicrobial therapy, or have recurrent symptoms.

●The diagnosis of acute complicated UTI is made in patients who have consistent clinical findings as well as pyuria and bacteriuria. UTI is unlikely if pyuria is absent.

●Outpatient management is acceptable for patients with acute complicated UTI of mild to moderate severity who can be stabilized, if necessary, with rehydration and antimicrobials in an outpatient facility or the emergency department and discharged on oral antimicrobials with close follow-up.

●The approach to empiric therapy of acute complicated UTI depends on the severity of illness, the risk factors for resistant pathogens, and specific host factors (table 3 and algorithm 1 and algorithm 2).

•For patients who are critically ill or have urinary tract obstruction, we suggest an antipseudomonal carbapenem plus vancomycin (Grade 2C).

•For other hospitalized patients, we suggest ceftriaxone or piperacillin-tazobactam if there are no risk factors for a multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative infection*(Grade 2C). Oral or parenteral fluoroquinolones are also reasonable options. For patients who have risk factors for an MDR gram-negative infection, we suggest piperacillin-tazobactam or an antipseudomonal carbapenem (Grade 2C).

•For outpatients without risk factors for an MDR gram-negative infection (table 2), we suggest an oral fluoroquinolone, such as levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin (Grade 2B). If the community prevalence of E. coli fluoroquinolone resistance is known to be higher than 10 percent, we also suggest a single dose of a long-acting parenteral agent prior to administering the fluoroquinolone (Grade 2C).

•For outpatients with risk factors for an MDR gram-negative infection (table 2), we suggest an initial dose of ertapenem (Grade 2C). Subsequently, an oral fluoroquinolone or daily ertapenem can be used.

●Results of urine culture and susceptibility testing should be used to confirm that the chosen empiric regimen is active and to tailor the regimen, including switching a parenteral regimen to an oral agent once symptoms have improved. Appropriate oral agents to treat acute complicated UTI include fluoroquinolones (eg, levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin, given for 5 to 7 days) or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (given for 7 to 10 days). Oral beta-lactams (given for 10 to 14 days) are less effective for acute complicated UTI but are appropriate alternatives if susceptibility is documented and the other agents are not feasible.

●Patients who have underlying anatomical or functional urinary tract abnormalities (including neurogenic bladder, indwelling bladder catheters, nephrostomy tubes, urethral stents) may warrant additional management, such as more frequent catheterization to improve urinary flow, exchange or removal of a catheter, and/or urologic or gynecologic consultation.

*Suspect multidrug-resistant gram-negative urinary tract infection in patients with a history of any of the following in the prior three months: a multidrug-resistant gram-negative urinary isolate, inpatient stay at a health care facility (eg, hospital, nursing home, long-term acute care facility), use of a fluoroquinolone, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, or broad-spectrum beta-lactam (eg, third or later generation cephalosporin), travel to parts of the world with high rates of multidrug-resistant organisms.

Sepsis

Epidemiology – Sepsis is the consequence of a dysregulated inflammatory response to an infectious insult. Global rates of sepsis are as high as 437 per 100,000 person-years and sepsis appears to be responsible for 6 percent of US hospital admissions. Gram positive bacteria are the pathogens that are most commonly isolated from patients with sepsis. (See 'Introduction' above and 'Epidemiology' above.)

●Definitions – Sepsis exists on a continuum of severity ranging from infection (invasion of sterile tissue by organisms) and bacteremia (bacteria in the blood) to sepsis and septic shock, which can lead to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and death. A 2016 task force from the Society of Critical Care Medicine and European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (SCCM/ESICM) define sepsis and septic shock as the following:

•Sepsis – Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection; organ dysfunction is defined as an increase of two or more points in the sequential (sepsis-related) organ failure assessment (SOFA) score (calculator 3).

•Septic shock – Septic shock is defined as sepsis that has circulatory, cellular, and metabolic abnormalities that are associated with a greater risk of mortality than sepsis alone; these abnormalities can be clinically identified as all of the following:

-Patients who fulfill the criteria for sepsis (above)

-Patients who, despite adequate fluid resuscitation, require vasopressors to maintain a mean arterial pressure (MAP) ≥65 mmHg

-Patients who have a lactate >2 mmol/L (>18 mg/dL).

However, clinicians should be aware that SCCM/ESICM definitions are not unanimously accepted. For example, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) still continues to support the previous definition of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS (table 1)), sepsis, and severe sepsis. ●Risk factors – Risk factors for sepsis include intensive care unit (ICU) admission, a nosocomial infection, bacteremia, advanced age, immunosuppression, previous hospitalization (in particular hospitalization associated with infection), and community-acquired pneumonia. Genetic defects have also been identified that may increase susceptibility to specific classes of microorganisms.

●Clinical presentation and diagnosis

•Patients with suspected or documented sepsis typically present with hypotension, tachycardia, fever, and leukocytosis. As severity worsens, signs of shock (eg, cool skin and cyanosis) and organ dysfunction develop (eg, oliguria, acute kidney injury, altered mental status) [28,47]. Importantly, the presentation is nonspecific such that many other conditions (eg, pancreatitis, acute respiratory distress syndrome) may present similarly. Presentations of common conditions associated with sepsis are in the table (table 2).

•A constellation of clinical, laboratory, radiologic, physiologic, and microbiologic data is typically required for the diagnosis of sepsis and septic shock. The diagnosis is often made empirically at the bedside upon presentation, or retrospectively when follow-up data return or a response to antibiotics is evident. Importantly, the identification of a culprit organism, although preferred, is not always feasible since many patients have been partially treated with antibiotics before cultures are obtained.

●Prognosis – Sepsis has a high mortality rate that appears to be decreasing. Estimates range from 10 to 52 percent with rates increasing linearly according to the disease severity of sepsis. Following discharge from the hospital, sepsis carries an increased risk of death as well as an increased risk of further sepsis and recurrent hospital admissions. Poor prognostic factors include the inability to mount a fever, leukopenia, age >40 years, certain comorbidities (eg, AIDS, hepatic failure, cirrhosis, cancer, alcohol dependence, immunosuppression), a non-urinary source of infection, a nosocomial source of infection, and inappropriate or late antibiotic coverage.

17 stycznia: Koło LOK zorganizowało spotkanie ze słuchaczami Wojskowej Akademii Medycznej im. 10 stycznia: Szkolne koło LOK zorganizowało spotkanie ze słuchaczami Wyższej Szkoły Oficerskiej Wojsk Inżynieryjnych im. 20 grudnia: Szkolne koło LOK zorganizowało konkurs na najładniejszą Chinkę. 18 marca: Szkolne koło PTTK zorganizowało apel poświęcony 38. rocznicy Wyzwolenia Ziemi Kozielskiej. 27 stycznia: Na dużej przerwie zrobił się apel podsumowujący pierwszy okres. 28 stycznia: Po rocznej przerwie odbył się tradycyjny bal studniówkowy. Wystawa choinek odbyła się na ogromnej przerwie. 28 kwietnia: Zrobiła się konferencja klasyfikacyjna klas IV. 11 lutego: Młodzież z całej szkoły mogła być się na imprezie karnawałowej, która dokonała się w sali. 1 maja: Młodzież i nauczyciele wzięli wkład w normalnym pochodzie pierwszomajowym. 19 lutego: Uczennice naszej szkoły wzięły udział w Wojewódzkiej Olimpiadzie Języka Rosyjskiego. 15 lutego: W sal odbył się koncert z cyklu „Musica viva” pt. 26 lutego: E. Kołodziejczyk z grupy IIId została przyznana na wojewódzkim festiwalu Piosenki Radzieckiej. Koordynator Dolnośląskiego Festiwalu Nauki, działań edukacyjnych i reklam Wydziału Nauk Biologicznych UWr.

Najgłośniejsze nazwy, który nastąpią na festiwalu to Fever Ray, Baasch, Arca, Sampha, Nosowska oraz Son Lux. tutaj z nauczycielami, w szczególności z wychowawcami - kwalifikowanie się materiałami oraz doświadczeniem zawodowym. Marczak i pożegnała koleżanki i partnerów. 19 listopada: Sekcja imprezowa Samorządu szkolnego zorganizowała wieczór z muzyka zespołu „Budka Suflera” w imprezie wzięło udział 15 osób. Przewodniczącą Samorządu Szkolnego została Beata Marczak z grupy IIId, zastępca przewodniczącej Krzysztof Stoszek z grupy IIc. W porządek nowego pocztu sztandarowego wchodzą: Irena Borowiec IV c, Jadwiga Przyszlak i Krzysztof Tarka III b. Najlepszą pokazała się uczennica klasy IIId Jadwiga Przyszlak. 20- 21 listopada: Uczennica klasy IVd brała udział w własnym konkursie krasomówczym w Gołubiu Dobrzyniu zajęła V miejsce. Dyplom za dużo atrakcyjne zyski w myśli, aktywną prace publiczną i rozsławienie dobrego imienia szkoły otrzymała A. Wołoszczuk IVd.

Dyplom za bardzo dobre wyniki w mądrości oraz sztuce społecznej otrzymały B. Markowska IVc, R. Suchan IVa. Dyplom za bardzo efektywne rezultaty w mądrości i rozsławienie dobrego imienia szkoły otrzymał J. Turek IVa. Wręczył także dyplom przodownika szkoły i produkcji społecznej. Przyznano także dyplomy przewodnika myśli i instytucji społecznej. Rada Pedagogiczna ustaliła, że na tablicę przodowników pracy społecznej w Klas tradycji zostanie wpisana Aleksandra Wołoszczuk z klasy IVd. G. Holstein z grupy IIIc zajęła I miejsce, a A. Wołoszczuk z grupy IVd II miejsce. Uczniowie klasy IIIa w ramach tygodnia patrona szkoły wygłosili na godzinach wychowawczych w e wszystkich klasach referaty o życiu Henryka Sienkiewicza. 26- 27 marca: Odbyły się zawody centralne 9. olimpiady Wiedzy Technicznej, w jakich otrzymali udział R. Wiśniewski z IIa i R. Komorek, A. Jędrzejczyk, K. Madloch z klasy IIIa. 21 marca: Zrobiło się uroczyste powitanie wiosny. 11 listopada: Zrobiło się zebranie rodziców wszystkich klas, na którym zostali poinformowani o wynikach nauki swoich dzieci. 26 stycznia: Odbyły się zebrania wywiadowcze rodziców, na których zostali poinformowani o zachowaniu dzieci oraz ich reputacjach w pierwszym okresie.
