MARK ( 이마크. )

“what in the world are you talking about (—)!” mark huffs out annoyed, meanwhile you can’t help but giggle at the fit he was throwing. “what?” you asked through your laughs, trying to take the angry look on his face serious. “what do you mean ‘what?’, you came up to me just to tell me my eyebrows look like seagulls, unprovoked!” mark said, walking away as your laughed hadn’t died down but only increased as he repeated your words. you tried placing your hand on his shoulder only for him to shrug it off. “hey hey! i’m sorry alright, it was just an impulsive thought. i promise they don’t look bad…” silence took over the room before you bursted into laughter. “i truly can’t stand you.”

RENJUN ( 황런쥔. )

“can you stop moving.” renjun had requested as you were running around your room. “not now renjun, i lost my friend’s glasses, this is important.” you responded back as you threw your pillow his way on accident. renjun sighed, turning his phone to video mode. “welcome to episode 8 of “why is renjun sad?” and this episode i present to you (—), a regular guest who once again made renjun sad by not letting him take a picture of them while the sun was shining nicely on them. what should he do this time?” renjun narrated as his camera followed your movements. you chuckled as you stopped moving and turned to face him and his phone. “personally, i think renjun should run before (—) starts throwing objects in… exactly 5 seconds.” you smiled back as you took ahold of the nearby pillow.

JENO ( 이제노. )

“JENO? MY GOSH WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” you froze in your spot as your eyes took in the whole kitchen that was fully covered in flour, including jeno. he awkwardly scratched the back of his head. “okay, listen alright, don’t get mad at me (—), hear me out please. i can perfectly explain all… this.” he said motioning to the kitchen. “WHAT HAVE YOU FUCKING DONE TO MY MUMS KITCHEN!” you yelled out, taking slow steps forward that intimidated jeno as he took steps back himself. “well, i was watching this show and they were making these cookies, and i told jaemin that it was easy, which lead to him telling me to… well the result is here.” jeno said, moving aside to show the half soggy cookies that were also covered in flour. “i am seriously about to kill you, lee jeno.”

HAECHAN ( 이해찬. )

“literally give me one good reason as to why i shouldn’t down this whole chapstick.” haechan held the chapstick dangerously close to his open mouth, ready to take a bite out of it. “are you crazy?? chapstick is not edible my friend. it contains lots of toxic chemicals that could make you sick. plus that’s my most recent one, please haechan, don’t do this to me.” you said, getting on your knees in-front of the said boy who held a victorious smirk on his face. he tapped his chin, seemingly pondering. “hmmm, beg for it.” he said with a teasing grin. “you’re fucking insane, did you know that?” “you know what else would be fucking insane? me eating this chapstick under a minute, a guinness world record!” haechan said, teasing the tip of the chapstick near his parted lips. “and don’t think i’m joking, i will eat this.” he smiled and you sighed, letting the plea’s he wanted to hear so badly out.

JAEMIN ( 나재민. )

“hypothetically speaking, if i were to break up with you right now, tell you our relationship never meant anything and that i just used you, how would you react?” jaemin suddenly let out. the room turned silent as your eyes landed on his that were anticipating an answer. “you wanna break up with me…?” you asked, slightly taken aback. “what?? no! i said hypothetically, like this is just a random scenario i made up. i just wanna know how you’d react in that situation.” jaemin defended quickly, holding his hands besides his head. “alright, if this is all hypothetical… well first i’d smash your car window for using me. then i’d rip all your clothes for playing with my feelings all this time, then i’d slap you for making me go through that and then i’d apply you to the military as revenge. does that sound okay to you?” you smiled back at him, giving him a peck on the cheek. “that.. that’s crazy. good thing i do love you.” jaemin laughed out, a bit scared. you laughed along with him, wrapping your arm around his shoulder and pulling him closer. “yeah, a very good thing.”

CHENLE ( 종천러. )

“please stop glaring at me, you’re gonna make me feel bad.” chenle pouted, avoiding your eyes that were burning hole in the side of his head. “so you’re saying you don’t even feel bad in the first place.” you deadpanned, mouth slightly agape as you took in the information you just heard. “what? bro, no!” he quickly retorted back. “i’m not your bro, chenle. watch your mouth. because soon you’ll be the one with an icepack on your eye, i’m not playing.” you glared back with the only open eye as the other was still throbbing in pain. if chenle only had been less competitive when the two of you were playing with the frisbee, maybe then you wouldn’t be here on the couch, groaning in pain as he stayed far away from you. “oh i know you mean that, there’s a reason why i’m staying all the way here.” he chuckled and took ahold of the frisbee that was placed next to him. “you seriously suck, go and get me some tea.” you sighed. “how is that going to help with your eye.” chenle asked, standing up non the less. “it won’t, but it will help me meditate to a different dimension where you don’t exist so get to making that tea already.”

JISUNG ( 박지성. )

“hurry up and drive already.” jisung panicked, guiding your hands to the steering wheel. “where are my pads?” you asked, trying to hold in your laugh as you watched the distressed boy who hid his face in his hands. “you’re actually so evil, did you know that. who decided this was part of this boyfriend contract we have going on? god i need the ground to swallow me.” jisung muttered and this time you did laugh, finding his rambles rather cute. “jisung, what happened.” he looked up from his slouched position to send you an annoyed glare. “you, you sent me in there and told me i “just had to grab some pads.” i went in there and when i went to the cashier, she said it was rare for guys to pick up the DIAPERS for their kids. you LIED to me, those yellow packets are not pads.” jisung cried out, hiding back into his hands. you bursted out laughing. “i told you yellow with flowers on it, did you not listen?” you patted his shoulder to comfort him, but he pushed it off with a scoff. “i do not want to talk to you, just take me away from this place i beg you.” you held back your snicker as you put the car in reverse and gave jisung a few more apologies before he finally forgave you.

there was this tiny little (cute) cocky always late always annoying always staring at you guy named??? renjun was it??? brown hair and brown eyes, wearing specs, beige cargo pants, different graphic tee everytime with a long sleeve buttoned shirt on top, and a hat aaaaalways. you met him in art class. well it was more like an art therapy class??? and omg you haaaaated him so much 😭😭😭 and you thought that maybe he didn’t like you so much either because, why would he be so annoying for???

for starters, the teacher sat him next to you (of course she did); and in the start that didn’t bother you, you were actually happy to meet new people!!! but it was when he started showing up 30 minutes late to class that you started to get annoyed. he was so noisy when sitting down and arranging his stuff on the table 🙄 just hurry up and sit down!!!!

anyways it’s your first day and you and your friend are nervous because yikes this workforce lowkey kinda dangerous but :DD WORTH IT

then you get all your docs from the secretary and you’re like so who’s my supervisor¿?

so then you and your friend part ways and you knock on jenos office, very scared

“come in” phew so far so good

and the hand you’re holding your documents is shaking and you grip it harder to stop the shaking but it makes it worse

and you get closer to him, “hi um,,, my name is y/n and uhhh you’re my supervisor for the time being haha”

and his face lights up and he smiles at you and you’re like damn an angel but then you’re like snap outta it

“oh nice to meet you! i’m lee jeno i hope we can get along well” and internally you’re like damn haechan was wrong huh he’s an angel

so a few days into your internship it’s not that bad?? just some paperwork so you’re like oh this isn’t that bad

plus since you’re stuck in jenos office it’s pretty good since you glance at him every 10 seconds and you’re like damn he was sculpted by gods huh

and you find it cute when he doesn’t understand some documents he has a little pout and you’re like AHHHHHHH SO !! CUTE !! and when he figures it out he HAS THAT ICONIC EYE SMILE AND HIS EYES ARE SPARKLY

and you try not to stare at him when that happens but you can’t you really can’t he’s so wow your heart skips a beat when he smiles ?? and you’re like ?? haha what’s going on with me

and you and jeno are usually the ones who also have to stay late to finish all the paperwork and he’s like “sorry for having you to stay really late ://“

and you’re like “no! no! no! it’s fine!!! i’m used to it anyways” and it’s already the end of week 1 and you don’t think it can get worse than this

n e ways work seems simpler and like that’s not how detectives are sO jeno now takes you to crime scenes since he has another helping hand and this week jeno is so serious?? and cold?? like um where did his smile go

but you help him with a lot of stuff and the crime scene honestly is a bit scary since the murderer is still out there buut it’s ok you’re ok

and you help jeno around the crime scene trying to gather more evidence and you’re like jesus the atmosphere is really dark you can’t breathe like it’s kinda scaring u a lil so you crack a slight joke to lighten the mood up

and jeno just glares at you and you go !!! big mistake and he’s scolding u “please take this seriously there’s no time to joke around” and his voice is a slightly deeper than usual like harsh and now the atmosphere feels darker and you’re like welp great

but besides that you feel your kinda shatter like oh :((( that was a bad idea why’d i do that omg am I DUMB or am I DUMB HE PROBABLY HATES ME NOW

anyways you’re like “sorry” with a sad tone almost to the point your voice cracks but you gulp and go back to trying to find evidence and writing stuff down

and not long after you’re like ?? hm think i found something and you call jeno over and you’re about to touch the evidence and he quickly grabs your hand and is like “don’t touch it !!” and your eyes widen because YOU DIDNT EXPECT THAT??

but thank god the lights were slightly dim because his hand was warm and soft and you feel butterflies in your stomachs LIKE AHHH?!!!! and your face heating up and you look back at him

and jeno looks back at your hand and quickly pulls away and is like oops sorry

and you’re like i-it’s fine obviously trying not o stutter but failing miserably

but jeno is blushing too like omg what did i do

but then you guys gather the piece of evidence + scan the whole scene again one more time

and then you guys head back to jenos office to try and pull things together

but as you’re walking you recall how warm his hand felt and you shake the feeling off and grab both your hands to keep them warm since it’s still early spring and you’re slightly shivering

and jeno notices and is like “oh um are you cold ??” and you nod and he clears his throat and grabs one of your hands and puts them on his jackets pocket and saying “i hope this kinda helps you” and you feel your blush coming back again because!!!!! THIS IS WHAT COUPLES SHOULD DO EXCUSE ME

and you’re dYING but luckily it’s kinda dark out so he can’t see your face turning into a tomato and you just give him a smile

and then once you guys are inside the building he lets go and you’re like :(( my hand feels lonely again pls hold it

but then you’re like WHAT AM I THINKING I DONT EVEN LIKE HIM you do

and like you guys finish early and head home and you can’t sleep because you remember the FEELING OF JENOS HAND ON YOURS and it makes your heart burst

on the other hand you’d think for a detective jeno would KNOW IF HE LIKES YOU OR NOT but he’s also overly confused cue jaemin and renjun face palming

anywaYs a few weeks pass and you guys are assigned a new place to investigate so you get over there early in the morning and then you stop right in front of jenos office because you hear someone else

and then that voice is like “i like you jeno for a really long time and i hope you’re able to give me a chance” and your heart drops and you’re like oh because the rumors about the secretary planning on confessing to jeno were true and you couldn’t deny they had good chemistry and they’d make a really good looking couple

so then you like wait outside the building sighing not knowing why and wondering if jeno accepted her confession or not and you shake it off and wait for jeno so you guys can leave

inside the crime scene you’re just quiet and trying to focus on looking for evidence and the atmosphere feels so off but jeno doesn’t even notice it

and afterwards you guys go back to his office you’re also silent and he’s kinda like ??? but maybe because you had to wake up early

and then you decide to leave early and jenos like oh okay and you’re moping as you leave and you call donghyuck to hang out and he’s like damn who broke your heart

and you’re like NO ONE it’s just,,, idk why i’m sad it was after i accidentally heard the secretary confess to jeno

and it clicks to haechan and he’s smirking and you’re like what spill it

“so you fell for detective jeno huh”

and you’re like no !!! and start blushing

and he’s like omg are you dense you’re an intern for a DETECTIVE COME ON

and you’re like you’re right,, but it’s too late since he’s probably with her now :(((

on the other hand detective! jaemin and renjun keep eyeing eachother because jeno keeps talking about you and how you looked sad today

but at the same time they’re like wait . lee jeno?? falling for someone???

and then renjun is like “you’d think for a detective you’d know if you’re into someone or not”

“does she like you back though??” jaemin curiositly asks

“i,,,, i don’t know?!?!??” AND THEY BOTH GASP BECAUSE?? HELLO THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF CLUES AND HES A DETECTIVE

and now it’s jenos goal to figure out if you like him or not with the help of detective! renjun and jaemin

step 1: try to see if they avoid you or making eye contact

so he sees you next to the printer resting on the wall and walks over and places his arm against the wall and basically pinning you there and your eyes widen and you look anywhere but at jeno aND YOURE LIKE UM UHH GOTTA GO

step 2: try to see if they blush if you make a sudden move

and during one of the investigations he hears you calling him over and he pokes your elbow causing you to turn around and your faces are inches away and suddenly you’re a tomato again and jeno teases and is like omg are you gonna have a fever?? and he touches your forehead and you’re so warm he tries not to giggle at how cute you look

and during all of this donghyuck is sipping his tea while you freak out about all the things jeno has done to you and you’re like jeno is gonna give me a stroke and he’s gonna be the one trying to SOLVE WHO CAUSED IT EVEN THO IT WAS HIM

but this plan ultimately helped jeno figure it out and now he’s gonna ask you out because wow his detective skills really helped him out

so one cold late day after going to another crime scene he thinks it’s the perfect timing since the sun is about to set too and you’re shivering but looking at the sky and jeno gives you his coat

and you pause and you’re like “aren’t you gonna be cold??” and he’s like “my hands are kinda cold” and you’re like damn kinda wanna hold your hands but that will lead me to cardiac arrest but your hands brush against eachother and you’re like goddamnit and you wrap his hand against yours and you’re like blushing madly and he smiles at you

and you’re like “better??” and he shakes his head and both of you stop walking and says “now my lips feel cold” and like you guys are really close anywhos so you gotta close the gap

and you’re like hsjdjsiis i’m not that bold bUT STILL and he’s giving that cute small pout and you’re fighting the urge so you bite your lips slightly

but then jeno just pecks your lips

and your heart?? goes 127mph

and he’s like i know it’s sudden but i like you

and you’re speechless?? because lee jeno??? liking someone??? actually?? and your mind is in chaos but you go ahead and peck his lips for 5 seconds and then you’re like “i- i- i like you too” and he pulls you into a hug and says “thank god because i really put my detective skills to work on this case”

You couldn’t help but think that he was sexy. I mean, he was. He had black hair that tumbled across his forehead, eyes that crinkled when he laughed, and a nose that scrunched when he was feeling embarrassed. Lee Jeno was the whole package.

Unfortnately he was taken.

By the most ironic candidate possible. Your brother.

Normally, it was a good thing that Jaemin was your brother. He was reliable and funny, and extremely caring and loving. He was the peanut butter to your jelly. And he was also the bad to your luck.

He had gotten to Jeno before you could. He had sat next to him in class and ‘coincidentally’ debuted under the same group as him. He had all the luck with the boy of your dreams.

And now they were officially dating and holding hands between dance practices and sharing kisses behind closet doors.

You couldn’t help but feel envious. And the slightest bit lonely. You had always considered Jeno the love of your life as a sort of coping mechanism when you hurt, but recently you realized that he wasn’t, and it made your only upbeat thought disappear. So you had no way of coping.

All of these thoughts would only cloud your mind stronger during times like this, when you were forced to watched interactions between Jaemin and Jeno from afar and only hope that something good would come up in your life to make you just as happy. Like now, as you sat backstage at one of Dreams We Go Up stages, stuffing your face with chocolate filled marshmallows and frowning deeply.

You just wanted to beat your meat a little. They were just too cute to handle.

You threw a wrapper behind your head and sighed loudly as Jeno and Jaemin shared another visible loveable grin at one another as they danced.

“Ugh.” You groaned to yourself.

You continued watching for a second, still wallowing, when something smashed harshly into the back of your head. You fell forward and cursed as you landed forehead-first.

“Hey!” You yelled as you tried to push yourself up. You looked to see the cleaning lady, glaring at you with her broom poised in the air like she was ready to strike again at any moment. “What the hell?”

She sniffed. “Don’t throw wrappers like that then, idiot boy. There’s a trash can for a reason, didn’t your mother ever treat you manners!”

You glared as she walked away and rubbed the back of your head. “Bitch.” You whispered under your breath.

You settled back into the couch you were previously on and returned your eyes back to the TV broadcasting the performance live. You were confused to see that there was another group on the stage now.

“What the-”

“Hyung !”

You jumped and turned to see that Dream was coming from the other end of the room, having just changed from their sweaty performance uniforms.

He was the first thing you saw. He looked heavenly. His hair was still slightly damp and his face was tinted pink from adrenaline. You looked away from Jeno and to the person who called you.

“Hi Jisung-ah,” You smiled softly. “You guys did great!”

“It didn’t look like you were paying attention.” Mark snorted. “It looks like the cleaning lady-”

You glared at Mark. “When are you gonna graduate Mark? And stop making me miserable?”

Mark shut his mouth in surprise before narrowing his eyes. “Listen, just because you’re debuting under WayV doesn’t mean you’ll get rid of me that easily.”

“Yeah. Unfortunately. But it beats not getting rid of you at all.” You snapped, resisting the urge to roll your eyes.

Jaemin let out a loud, not very subtle sigh. “Guys.”

Jaemin hated when you fought with his fellow members. Well, you only ever fought with Mark, but you occasionally got into it as well with Renjun. But it wasn’t your fault Mark was the most annoying person on earth. He had made it his mission to make you miserable since the day you and Jaemin came into the company. Even more when you both got put into the same group.

You were ecstatic when SM decided to put you into NCT’s Chinese unit. Contrary to your happiness, though, being away from Mark gave you more reason to focus on your unrequited love for Jeno, which wasn’t so good.

“Ooooh, who was eating marshmallow chocolates?” Jeno asked suddenly, moving from Jaemin’s side quickly to the spot beside you. He grabbed your pack of candy and took a marshmallow. He turned his attention to you. “These are my favorite.”

You knew that already, of course. Jeno knew that you knew too. You had introduced him to them.

“Yeah.” You replied weakly. You suddenly felt sick to your stomach. So not only was Jaemin stealing Jeno romantically, but he was also making him forget about the small moments you cherished with him of friendship. “I got to use the bathroom.”

You stood from the couch and stumbled your way to the bathroom, your face going red and your eyes burning. You looked back halfway and saw that Jaemin had sat in your spot and was happily munching on a shared candy with Jeno.

You looked away and entered the nearest room you saw. You shot through the door slammed it shut behind you, darkness swallowing your eyesight. You fumbled for a light switch and squinted when you succeeded.

You found yourself in an empty dressing room with only an empty vanity and a dusty blue velvet couch. You let yourself fall on the cushions and began to cry. You hated yourself for feeling this way about your brother, like his whole existence was toxic and you didn’t want him around you anymore. It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know you liked Jeno first. It wasn’t his fault Jeno fell in love with him.

You hiccuped and rubbed the cuff of your jacket against your makeup less face. You probably looked like hell. But then again, what did it matter? No one bothered to look your way anyway.

There was absolute silence as you let the rest of the tears run down your cheeks. You looked at the ceiling and tried to stabalize your breathing. If your best friend Hendery saw you like this he would beat your ass.

He’d say, “All for what? A boy! You psycho bitch we live in a place where attractive boys with cute smiles are everywhere! Take advantage and stop being so fucking emo.”

You did need to stop being emo. It wasn’t good for your health. Your manager made you leave the dorm once because he thought you looked like a starved vampire.

The silence was suddenly cut off by a metallic rattle before the door to the dressing room burst open and none other than Mark Lee spilled in. Spilled as in he literally almost fell face first into the ground because he lost his footing.

“Aw shit!” He grunted, landing against the side of the couch.

You sat up and instantly wiped your face, hoping not to give too much away. You creased your brows at him. “What are you doing, idiot?”

Mark straightened himself out and huffed when he saw you. “Isn’t it obvious, stupid? I’m following you.”

You shut your mouth and narrowed your eyes at him. He rolled his eyes and moved to close and lock the door behind him.

“Is this the part where you murder me? Cuz at this point i wouldn’t mind.”

Mark leaned against the door and raised his eyebrows at you. His eyes were full of an emotion you couldn’t quite pin and he licked his lips before chuckling.

“You don’t want to die, Y/N.” Mark stated. “Plus, do you know who you’re talking to? I wouldn’t be able to murder you even if I wanted to.”

“But I’m pretty sure you do, and determined people are the scariest.” You said, looking away from his intense stare.

You had never been alone with Mark like this. The moment that door had closed the whole air in the room had changed and you felt like the soles of your shoes were sending electric currents throughout your body.

“That’s not true. You’re just annoying sometimes.” Mark said bluntly. He stayed against the door and looked at the musty ceiling. “Cute people tend to be the most annoying.”

You felt your stomach twist and your eyes shot to his. He didn’t look at you, he just kept his eyes trained on the ceiling. It took everything in you not to laugh out loud. “Cute? Yeah right.”

You suddenly felt the strings in your heart strumming their sad tune again. Jeno once called you cute because you always peeled the crust off of your bread. He had even once done it for you. But you didn’t feel cute at all.

Mark looked down at you when you sighed and let yourself fall back into the cushions of the couch. It seemed he knew what was going on in your mind. He took a breath between gritted teeth. “You know you’re going to have to get over him eventually.”

You weren’t even phased at this point. You were pretty sure that everyone except Jaemin and Jeno saw how distraught you were that they were dating. You looked over at him, strands of hair falling into your eyes. “I hope that day comes soon.”

Mark’s eyes stayed trained on you, never leaving your recently died hair and your clean, makeup less skin. Then he scoffed. “You’re absolutely pathetic, you know that? And really fucking oblivious too, you know.”

You shot your in your chair, your eyebrows raising into your hairline. “What the hell did you just say?”

Mark rolled his eyes. “You heard me.”

You slapped the edge of the couch and walked over to Mark, slammed your fist into the space beside his head. Your eyes were full of years of fury. Over everything. God, Mark really did know how to trigger you.

“Listen, Mark. You can call me all the fucking names you want, but don’t ever call me pathetic. You have no idea how this feels. To love someone since day one only to find out that your only brother loves him too. So you stay quiet and let them love each other because their happiness matters more than yours. It’s painful. You don’t know the pain.”

Mark looked up into your eyes and let his jaw jut out. “You don’t know what I’ve been through, asshole. I do fucking know what you feel, because I had to watch my crush fall in love with one of my best friends. You know what’s more painful than having the person you love be happy with someone else? Watching them hurt because that person doesn’t realize their potential or see how much they deserve to be loved. Fuck you, because I love you and I don’t know how to fucking help you get over Jeno.”

Your arm fell back to your side as you soaked the words in. You looked down at him for a second. You would have never guessed. Maybe you that’s why he had always called you an idiot. Or maybe he was just lying to make you feel wanted. You felt doubt crash in your veins like a giant deadly wave.

You scoffed and picked up your hand to run it through your hair. “You’re lying.” You said.

You regretted it the moment it came out of your mouth. Mark looked angry. So fucking angry. It scared you, even though you were a whole three inches taller than him. You waited for him to throw a punch or slap you across the face. Either would be well deserved. Had you just told Mark Lee he was lying after he confessed his love for you?

His arms shot forward.

Yes you had.

But he didn’t hit you. You were more than surprised when he slapped both of his hands on your cheeks and pulled you down to his height.He looked into your eyes so passionately it made your breath hitch.

“I fucking love you, asshole. Don’t ever doubt me on that.”

You pushed his body against the door with your hips, wanting nothing more than to continue what was happening. However, Mark didn’t seem so keen on being pushed around, so he pulled away and pushed you back, glaring at you.

You nodded and smiled softly at him. You lifted one of your hands to caress his cheek and found yourself suddenly blushing at the entire situation. “I would like that.”

Mark leaned down and kissed you again, his lips less aggressive and more soft. “Please don’t ever cry over Jeno again. I hate to see you that way.”

You nodded and smiled slightly. “Who’s Jeno?”

Mark smiled and placed his forehead against yours, his eyes scrunching slightly as he laughed. He shifted slightly to leave your lap and sit beside you, but he felt something hard rub against the inner part of his thigh and stopped, his smile dropping.

Your face flushed red and you tried to push him off forcefully but Mark wasn’t having it. He looked down at your half hard bulge and smirked.

You sighed heavily and shook your head. “Sorry. It’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this and you really took me by surprise.”

Mark adjusted himself on your lap so he was comfortable again before leaning forward and kissing your lips. He started off with small pecks, kissing you and between each one giggling before going back in again. But when your hands reached lower on his thighs and squeezed, he kissed you harder.

“I don’t think we’ll have time for the both of us.” Mark panted. “We’re filming for our SImon Says video tomorrow. But I really want to keep touching you.”

You shook your head almost instantly. “It isn’t fair if we don’t both-”

You looked over towards where Chenle’s finger was pointing and saw Mark with at a table, using one of the stylists blow dryer to try and dry the spot on his pants. He was already looking at you, the biggest blush on his face. It looked like he was trying his best to look angry.

You laughed as you approached the others. Haechan’s eyes flickered between you and Mark before he narrowed them. “Hey, WAIT WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE?!”

You stumbled over your words before you darted away to the entrance.

A/N: hello, loves! im sorry if this doesnt really count as platonic, i kind of got stumped at the angst request haha. haha I hope this doesnt make you hate Mark haha more than you probably already do haha - dia :)

“Fuck.” Donghyuck swore aloud to himself in his room, the lack of sleep finally getting to him. It was a pattern, tossing and turning over and over again. He let out a loud sigh as he creeped out of his room to the kitchen to make a 4am snack. All night he’d been awake, thinking of you, Y/n, his best friend of a year and a half now.

In September last year you both started your junior year of highschool, and now you were finally seniors at the end of your first term. You met in psychology. After proving to the teacher you were both troublesome with your respective friend groups, she removed you from them and put you two together. And by doing this, somehow, she managed to cause more trouble. You had the same sense of humor and wish for destruction. You and Donghyuck clicked instantly, merging your two friend groups within three weeks of school starting. It was legendary, really.

Donghyuck fixed himself a bowl of cereal and sat in the chair nearest to him, resting his head on his arm and staring at the Christmas tree his family had put up in the living room. His mind was racing, and yet it was still. His heartbeat felt so loud, it was as if it shook the spoon in his hand. He knew he was falling in love with you. He had known it for weeks now, yet he chose to ignore it. The way your hair fell, the shape of your eyes, the curves of your lips. He had tried to ignore it all, and he couldn’t do it any longer. The Christmas tree was soothing, in a way. The time of year had always been associated with happiness for Hyuck, and looking at the tree softened his heartbeat for the time being. He thought of you, and decorating a tree together as if you were married. Hanging stockings for you and your kids… Goddamnit, Y/n stop lurking in my head! He dropped the spoon back into the bowl when the cereal was finished, letting a loud clank sound through the room.

Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. One for every step he took, until he was back in his bed, under the covers, staring at the ceiling once more.

“That bitch,” he smiled to himself, knowing that if you’d heard the insult your jaw would’ve dropped in fake shock and your hand would have raised to hit him, “I can’t get her out of my mind.”

Donghyuck went to school the next day on two hours of sleep, which was unusual for him. Lucky for him, he didn’t have to see you until lunch, which gave him more time to ignore his classes, mull over his feelings, and decide how to act with you. He’d try to think logically, but every time his mind went to how much he loved you.

There’s just something about her, I guess. He’d think as his teachers talked. I want to be with her. All the time. Which isn’t logical… So… That’s love, right? Being willing to do irrational shit for someone? I’d electrocute myself for her. Ugh, fuck, yeah that’s love.

By lunch, he still had no plan. Defeated by his own thoughts, he got his food at sat at his normal table. my friends’ table, he reminded himself, ‘friends’. Seated to his right was Mark, his best friend since freshman year, and to his left was Renjun. Mark and Donghyuck had every class together in ninth grade, and Donghyuck spent all of that time getting on Mark’s nerves. But, he couldn’t escape the fiend and eventually grew very fond of him. So fond, that four years later they haven’t had a class together since then and still consider each other best friends. You and your friends had been the newest addition to the group.

“Hey, man.” Mark slapped him on the back. “You’re late.” Donghyuck forced a smile, though his brain was throwing around so many things that this extra operation made him look more uncomfortable than he actually was.

“You okay?” Mark asked, noticing the unfamiliar dark circles under his eyes.

“Yeah, yeah I’m good. How late am I?”

“Meh,” Mark shrugged, “Only like five minutes.”

On Mark’s other side, was you.

“Hyuck!” You called over to him, blinding him with a sweet smile. “Are you going to the Christmas Ball?”

The Christmas Ball was a school dance, much more informal than it sounded. It was supposed to be a thing for dates, but the kids in your grade tended to stick to friend groups, except when slow songs were on, of course. This year, though, you’d be going with Mark Lee. You and Mark had been dating for only about a week now, but you’d decided to keep it a secret from the rest of your friends until the Ball, which is why you were both intent on making sure everyone went. You’d admired Mark for a while, so a week ago when he asked you out, it was a pretty easy answer.

“Yeah, I am.” He stuttered slightly. He wasn’t really in the mood for a dance, but if anything he’d go for you. He could confess to you at the dance, that’d be romantic. Christmas romance, it’d be like a movie! He smiled to himself, feeling cocky about how good his idea was. He kept to himself this lunch, which was odd for the rest of you. Now all he could think about was the dance.

It’ll be perfect. I can catch her alone and tell her I like her and badabing badaboom! We’ll dance and as the night is ending, we’ll finally kiss… He tried to imagine the moment. How beautiful you would look. You wore a silver dress last year, and even then he couldn’t deny that you looked amazing. He remembered your red lipstick and how your hair bounced as you danced, wondering if it’d be the same this year. Or maybe the only difference would be that you’d be with him…

The day of the dance came and you wore a golden dress with red heels and matching red lipstick, the same one as last year. Mark wore a suit, like the rest of the boys, and had a red tie on to subtly match you. Donghyuck came fifteen minutes late, trying to look his absolute best. He didn’t want to mess up, but if he did, hopefully his looks would save him? Unlikely, he thought, as he adjusted his hair, taking great care anyway. The room was packed full of students, and your friend group was filing in slowly. He got himself a soda and stood against a wall, scanning the crowds for anyone he knew. Ideally, you. Seeing as there were too many people around, he decided to look through the crowds. He threw out his soda cup and started walking. After a couple steps he saw you across the room from between the dancing kids. He froze. Just like last year, you were undeniably beautiful. Taking a step forward, he started pushing through the crowds, cautiously at first. His pace sped up as he got closer, never taking his eyes off of you. It was when he was only a few feet away that he saw you holding hands with Mark and smiling widely, looking deeply lost in his eyes. Again, Donghyuck froze. He watched as Mark moved his hands to your waist, leaning in to kiss you. Donghyuck looked up, hoping to see mistletoe above you, but no. He felt his limbs grow weak. He was afraid if he so much as lifted a hand, it would start shaking. He started to turn, wanting nothing more than to run out of the room, but you caught his eye.

“Hyuck!” You waved him over. “Come here!” He fiddled with his hands and begrudgingly made his way to you and Mark.

“Hey Donghyuck!” Mark said, putting an arm around your waist. “Guess what? I asked Y/n out last week, and now we’re dating. Friendship, am I right?” He smiled. Hyuck put on his best act, appearing perfectly happy, avoiding your gaze and focusing on Mark. He was afraid that if he locked eyes with you, his tears just might overflow.

“A week, huh? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” He smiled back, giving Mark a playful punch on the arm.

My best friends… dating… and they didn’t even tell me.

“We thought we’d tell you all today, considering the spirit and all.” You responded. “Cute, right? A Christmas romance.” You looked back at Mark, pulling him closer.

A Christmas romance. Like a movie. That was supposed to be with me.

“Yeah,” Hyuck said. His sorrow slowly turning into anger. He wanted to punch Mark, his own best friend. He wanted to wipe the smile off his face and make that boy feel how he was feeling. Pain. “I’ll be around, if you need me... Not that you should.” He needed to get away, as fast as possible.

Just like before, he made his way through the crowds. Slowly at first, getting faster and faster with every step until he was running out the door. The cold wind hit his face. The tears rolling down his face felt like they were freezing, but he kept running. He ran past streetlamps. Light hit his face, and disappeared, and came again, and disappeared, making the tears on his face shine with every other step. He stopped only when he couldn’t go any further, his stomach in his chest and his lungs in his burning throat. Water was flowing down his face like the Niagara had buried itself behind his eyes, and he couldn’t get it to stop. The beating in his chest got so loud, it was as if it vanished completely, leaving behind a harsh burning sensation. He couldn’t picture anything but you with your lips on Mark. His own best friend, with his other best friend.

Hyuck got home, eyes swollen and sinuses blocked, sniffling as he shut the door behind him. He walked into the kitchen, intending on eating cereal once again. He took off his tie and suit jacket, throwing them onto the table he sat at. He plopped down on the same chair as before and propped his head up on his arm, stirring the cereal around with his free hand and staring into space. His eye caught the light of the Christmas tree. The happiness he felt from the tree was crushed. Shattered into a million pieces with his heart on the floor. He teared up again as he gazed at the star on top, hoping for something, anything. He’d get to see you everyday… but he’d be seeing you with Mark. He closed his eyes as he turned away from the decoration. The tree had a new association for him. It wasn’t festive, and it wasn’t comforting, but an endless pit of loneliness that fostered deep in his heart.

a/n: I tried to keep it interesting with different date ideas and also tried to see which would fit which member the best imo. I hope you like it!~♡

Disclaimer: This is the last nct 2018 reaction I'll post. It's just too hard on me to write a different reaction for 18 members, that's why I decided to only take requests for units from now on and finish off this little nct 2018 journey with their ideal dates.

Taeil:

Taeil is a main vocalist and he loves singing above anything, so I think his ideal date would include his greatest passion. He always sings their own songs and it's always serious and professional, so he'd love to let loose for once and just sing his heart out to whatever song he wants. That's why Taeil's ideal date would be going to a karaoke bar with you.

Johnny:

Johnny is known as the most romantic member (at least within 127) and that's why I believe he'd want a traditional and romantic date. He'd take you out to a candle-light dinner at a fancy restaurant and like the gentleman he is, he'd pay for you and after you'd go on a walk through a park together.

Taeyong:

We all know Taeyong loves cooking and that he's the best cook in NCT. Therefore he'd love to invite you over to his place and cook a full course meal for the both of you to enjoy in intimate togetherness. And of course he'd end up blushing when you'd compliment his food, hoping you couldn't see the redness on his cheeks in the candle-light.

Yuta:

For Yuta I could imagine two different kinds of ideal dates. Either he'd love to take you on a concert with him, preferably going to see his favourite Japanese rock band One OK Rock (their concerts are lit btw I love them so much) or he'd want to go shopping with you, either to a mall or to the city, so he could see you trying on different outfits and spoil you like the sugar daddy gentleman he is.

Kun:

Kun is another member I wasn't completely sure about. I could see him loving a quiet date at the bookstore together, where you'd be rummaging through various books and reading together or he'd also love to take you on a road trip with him, where you'd drive through the whole Korea just for fun and blast your favourite music in his car.

Doyoung:

Since we know that our little Doyoungie practically never leaves his room during their days off, I felt like he'd love a cosy stay at home date, where you would cook dinner together, fool around and later watch some movies while cuddling.

Ten:

Ten is a very energetic baby as we all know and since he loves dancing, I bet he'd love to go dancing with his date to either impress them, dance together with them, watch them dance or all of the above. Therefore he'd probably take you out dancing and either you'd just dance together or he'd offer to teach you. If both of you were up to it, you might even take some slow dancing classes together.

Jaehyun:

Jaehyun seems to be the type of person that loves everything soft, romantic, relaxing etc. I can totally see him doing a spa night together with you. When you arrived at his place, he'd prepare a nice bubble bath for the both of you, while you'd be enjoying some expensive champagne and later you'd give each other back massages while having scented candles placed all around the room so the both of you could just lay back and rest for once.

Winwin:

Sicheng is such a soft and shy baby and for some reason I associate cosy winters and playing in the snow with him. I feel like he'd love to take you out on a date to go ice-skating. You would both help each other to get comfortable on the ice and when you felt anxious still, he'd keep his arms draped around your waist to keep you from falling until you felt stable enough to ride alone but that still wouldn't be a guarantee that he'd let go of you then. ;)

Jungwoo:

I associate everything aesthetically pleasing with soft Junguwu and that's why I picture him wanting to take you out to a small and cute café, one that was less popular and hidden away from the center of the town, so only those with taste would know about this place. Either you'd go there for simply having a cup of coffee or in the morning for brunch. He'd love having a quiet place with you to go to talk and share your passions with.

Lucas:

When I was brainstorming for this post, it didn't even take me a whole 2 seconds to know what Xuxi would love to do with you, hell, I even wrote it down in all caps. I hope we can all agree on that this loud, big baby would absolutely love to go to an amusement park with you. He'd want to see if you get scared on rollercoasters or the haunted house, so he could protect you.

Mark:

Mark is a very busy boy and I can imagine he feels exhausted a lot and would just prefer not to go out for once. He'd love a quiet night in when you'd come to his place and the both of you would order some take out food because let's be real, neither of you knew how to cook for life. After dinner, he'd get his guitar and play some songs for you while you'd lean against him with your eyes closed, enjoying the moment. You'd finish off the evening with watching movies until the both of you fell asleep in each other's arms.

Renjun:

Renjunnie is our local art hoe™ so I think he'd love if his date would be just as much into the arts as him. If you happen to be like that, he'd love nothing more than to either visit an art gallery together with you or meet up so you could draw each other. Or even better, you'd visit the art gallery first and after go to his place and spend the night away drawing beautiful portraits of each other. aEstHEtiC

Jeno:

Just recently I posted a little imagine (I put the link if you want to read Jeno's ideal date in an more aesthetically pleasing way) on my blog @fluffyheadcanons that I think would suit Jeno so well. Like in that post, I think Jeno's ideal date would be going to a park on a sunny afternoon and having a nice picnic there while he would be able to feed you with chocolate glazed fruits.

Haechan:

Our full sun would love going out with you, especially during the warmer months. That's why I could imagine him wanting to take you out on a stroll around town until you'd get to your favourite ice cream shop where the both of you would buy an ice cream in your favourite flavour, with him insisting on paying for you and then going to the Han River to relax and take silly photos of each other.

Jaemin:

Jaemin is such a supportive baby he'd literally love everything you wanted to do and would agree on anything. But if you let him decide and tell him that you wanted to go on his ideal date with him, he'd take you bowling and together you'd have so much fun and laugh at each other for failing and hitting the gutter all the time.

Chenle:

Our Lele is such a playful and childish baby so he’d definitely want to take you on a date to a place where you'd have the time of your lives. And is there a better place than going to an arcade together? I don't think so. You'd try out all the different games, from air hockey, to basketball, to car or motorbike races and dancing games. You'd enjoy yourselves so much that you'd forget about the time and get home late, so eomma Taeyong would end up scolding the both of you for staying out past curfew.

Jisung:

Since maknae Jisung is still young and might feel a bit embarrassed to go on dates in public, and since he's also an introverted bub, I think he'd love a stay-in date. He'd probably ask you to come over when all the hyungs would be gone for practice or individual schedules so he'd have the dorm to himself. Then he'd prepare all kinds of unhealthy snacks for the both of you and you'd end up playing videos games together until everyone would get back and be shook at seeing their youngest member having his date over while no one was there to watch over them. (Taeyong eomma will snap)

a/n: i changed this a bit to all types of kisses bc i love kisses and want to write more about them all in detail :D

• first kiss

okay renjun is definitely very meticulous. detail-oriented, if you will

he’s a bit shy, but the majority of him is just careful

renjun has a personality of wanting the moment to be perfect, wanting everything to be perfect

bc to him perfect is special. perfect is something that can’t be done twice. perfect is something you’ll remember

so yeah, he’s wanted to kiss you

he’s wanted to kiss you since before you both started dating honestly, but he just can’t find a timing perfect enough

he is afraid of kissing, since it’s his first kiss, and he’s read all the horror stories about first kisses being sloppy, or worse, so bad that the couple breaks up

sometimes fantasizes about kissing you, especially when he sees you wearing lipstick

in my mind renjun has a slight fascination for lipstick

but he can’t bring himself to do it bc the timing isn’t right

and he’s afraid

but tbh you’ve known renjun long enough to know why he’s so shy and nit-picky about stuff. you know from experience with him that it’s best to just let him worry it out and do things in his own time

that being said you really want him to kiss you,, like so badly

the day he does it actually wasn’t in his plan at all, and he still doesn’t know how he got the courage to do it

but it was just the two of you, sitting on the couch, facing each other

you basically had a horror movie on in the bg as the two of you tried to study for your individual school projects

nd you just looked so cute to him like you were wearing a pair of his sweatpants since you were at the dorm and didn’t have anything comfy to change into

nd you had on a white t-shirt, and your hair was pulled back out of your face. your lips were coated in the prettiest pink lipstick renjun had ever seen, and the urge just came to him like

“can i kiss you?”

his palms sweat as soon as he asks like idiot why would you ask her now this isn’t romantic this is boring this is the type of thing mark would do you don’t wanna be like mark do you

you can tell that he’s conflicted so you lean forward and peck his lips, giving him time to get used to their warmth before he can move his own lips against yours

and it’s interrupted by the other boys coming home w pizza, but renjun can’t stop smiling for the rest of the day

• making out

oh my goodness i will actually combust i bet renjun is the softest kisser in the world

he’s so gentle and soft and careful

i think every kiss with him would be special, and it would make you feel extraordinarily important

he doesn’t quite like casual kisses

he’ll see jaemin constantly pecking his s/o’s lips, or jeno always cuddling with the one he likes, but renjun doesn’t really work that way

pda to him is more of a private, intimate thing

and so neither of you really do much but hold hands when you’re in public

but oh my goodness making out with renjun would be such an experience

he very quickly finds out that he loves to make out with you, and it’s something he can probably do for a long long time unless you both get interrupted or you tell him to stop

as i wrote earlier, renjun is very detail-orientated. he seems to me to be highly sensitive to touch as well

so he’s an attentive kisser

most of the time you guys kiss sitting down but he really really likes the thought of laying you down and giving you soft kisses and gentle caresses kill me now

he just has a romantic soul and he’s very much into the idea of showing you your worth and appreciating you

okay now to the actual kissing

he loves your hair like

idc what type of hair you have, he loves it, and he wants to curl his fingers through it when the two of you kiss

likes feeling your hands on his waist or his chest or his shoulders it’s just, it feels right

you genuinely have to tell him to speed up if you don’t like slow kisses bc this boy isn’t in any hurry
