My critique of CW’S The Flash
The Flash is one of my absolute favourite shows, and I think it deserves one of these. Yes my favourite shows deserve critiques because there are changes I would’ve liked to see instead. This is all just my opinion on the show, not exactly hating it. Plus.. I saw someone else doing something similar to here goes.
Imma be clear at the start. I don’t hate WestAllen, just really really disappointed with how they were written in the latter seasons sometimes.
Props to every actor in the Flash who put all their effort into the show whether the script was cringe or not.
Season 1-2 was FIRE. No complaints. Loved the WestAllen.
Season 3 was good,
but I think they could’ve done Savitar better. Still liked him as the big bad being depressed/emo!Barry. I’ll say that I got really attached to Harry in S2 which made me wonder why they have HR there at all? The dude grew on me, and he added humour to the team, but honestly between him and Harry, it could’ve easily been Harry. Though it means he would die at the end.. so I’m glad Season 3 had HR Wells instead sorry not sorry.
The relationship between Julian Albert and Barry was so fun to watch. Which reminds me, LOVED Eobard’s appearance as Matt Letscher in 3x01. I have no idea why they continue to use Wells’ face like bruh. Your pretending as Wells is over so like why. GIMME MORE MATT!EOBARD.
I loved Frost???
Season 4 was also great.
I’d say more quality than season 3 because it was their first time against a big bad that WASN’T a speedster yet posed a more than adequate challenge to the team. The plot was nice and unique (I really loved Hazard!). I’ll say that DEVOE was kinda showing some red flags before becoming the Thinker in his relationship with Marlize, like he seemed kinda overly possessive of her. Glad that she switched to helping Team Flash after seeing what her husband had become. Loved her “Thinker’s first victim” line.
I felt like they started focusing on Cecile too much? Her role was vital to the plot at the end with helping Barry hop into Devoe’s mind to retrieve Ralph. And speaking of Ralph, I was neutral towards the character at first, but he grew on me. Also why fire him for sometning he did like 10yrs ago. That made no sense. I’d rather Ralph than more Cecile or Allegra.
LOVED ALL THE BANTER BETWEEN HARRY AND CISCO. And FROST FROST FROST!!! I liked her S4 outfit. I also think Barry’s supersuit was the best in this season.
One of my favourite episodes was “Flashtime”. Awesome awesome filler episode.
Season 5 was also great.
Barry’s supersuit was trash tho imo. He just looks like a weird deformed strawberry.
Above average but not quite as good as S4. LOVED NORA WORKING WITH THAWNE then Barry finding out and tossing her into the pipeline cell lol. Just the betrayal, and then dumping her in the middle of a random street in the future. Loved all the father-daughter moments she had with Barry. Cool to see the writers creativity in “meta-tech”.
However Iris.. bro in 5x19 she has some issues bringing up the fact Barry NEEDED to go into the Speedforce TWICE. And then her telling Barry to his face that she didn’t care that Nora was working with Thawne. Like bro, he murdered your husband’s mother and caused sm problems. And you don’t care about that?? Good to see that Barry called her out in the end.
Imma complain about freaking Sherloque again. Why not Harry? Even after what happened to him in S4, I think he could’ve figured out that Nora is secretly working with Thawne. Like dude’s still smart af.
Nora getting erased from existence at the very end.. sad :( I miss S5 Nora
Season 6.
I feel like this is when everything started going downhill. I didn’t care for Mirror Monarch. The mirror!Iris storyline was interesting to see. Idk what happened the rest of the season. That’s how much I didn’t care for this season lol. I think the other half was about Ramsey and how he wanted to make everyone zombies. Man I HATED Sue Dearborn or however you spell her name. She just took up too much screentime. This is when it started feeling like “Iris & Friends” instead of “The Flash”.
Liked to see how Barry dealt with slowly losing his speed bc he was killing the speedforce lol. Liked how the Caitlin/Frost duo became separate people. It was cool. At least we got that lol.
I think this is when Allegra comes in. I honestly can’t stand her. Like the whole her and her sister trope? Why.
The one thing I did like was Barry’s artificial speedforce gave him speed thinking. Awesome episode to watch. EXCEPT NASH. WHY. His sacrifice is useless in the end because of the whole “Iris is Barry’s lightning rod” thing. Have nothing about a speedster’s lightning rods in the comics, just didn’t like how that was written into the show. It eventually got really annoying.
Season 7.
Where do I even begin. This is when Barry’s “children” became a thing, and then suddenly speedforce!Nora wanting to kill all of them? Like what??? Where did that come from? Dion’s storyline was interesting. The rest were just.. Meh. And the CGI was so cringe.
I loved Abra Kadabra??? Why they gotta kill him off in one episode.
Does Chillblaine start coming in this season? I dislike him in general.
Season 8.
THIS IS WHEN BARRY’S ACTUAL CHILDREN COME BACK.
Now with Nora getting erased in S5, I really would’ve preferred if they gave us Tornado Twins instead. Like you can even use the same actors, but I honestly don’t really like the new Nora. I did like seeing her interaction between her and her family.
Also. Bart. I. Have. Major. Problems. I LOVE Bart but he is supposed to be Barry’s GRANDSON. Give us Don Allen instead. I did like the episode where they messed up the timeline, went back to 2013 and then accidentally reset Jay into the timeline. Also loved the episode with the whole Barry and the gamma radiation making him age hella fast. Bro was basically a zombie at the end and still overloaded the machine with the speedforce.
The. Stupid. Power Rangers godspeed arc was shit and them being Bart’s Thawne-like arch nemesis. Like boy, don’t compare Thawne with your godspeed problems. Don’t even start. Also what is with the “Negative Forces” and “Positive Forces” Power Rangers thing and then Iris’ time sickness? At this point, The Flash just started to feel like a soap opera.
I liked Chester even though he was a “replacement” for Cisco. He was unique. But the whole Allegra/Chester budding relationship where did that come from?? It just seemed very cringe and didn’t do much for the plot besides drama I guess. Khione was meh. Like just give us Caitlin with Frost in some way. I don’t care about Khione and her arc. Pls give us more Barry and not so much Cecile and Allegra.
Season 9
The show should just be renamed “Power Rangers: Iris & Friends” at this point. They made an entire episode without Barry?? Like if I pick up a Flash comic book, I expect it to be about THE FLASH. Not his random friends. Like yes, his friends can make appearances but don’t give me a whole dang episode without Barry THE MAIN CHARACTER. Also how the hell did Cecile become that OP, where is the character development.
Idk where Chillblaine comes in but I just don’t like him, not to mention that I don’t like the relationship between him and Frost. Like what.
Eddie’s Cobalt Blue arc and Red Death arc could’ve been done WAY better. I didn’t see any plot relevance in any way. It was written so poorly. Red Death was just like evil speedster!Batman or something. Please don’t bring our beloved Eddie back if you gonna write him all just jealous of Barry and him somehow becoming the new avatar of the Negative Speedforce. And what does Batwoman have anything to do with this (I believe she appears in the finale villains arc)l
There is legit only one episode I like in S9. The one that comes “full circle”. The one where Barry gets stuck in 2000, gets to chill with his parents for one day, and then comes full circle with Matt!Eobard killing Nora. SEASON 1 QUALITY. They even use the same bg music which awwww. And the “If I can spend one more day with my parents, then what would I say to them?” Line? Chef’s kiss.
Did not like the finale. His final run speech was okay about sharing his gift. Definitely would’ve preferred if Barry became the lightning bolt that struck him in S1 like in the comics.
Idk which episodes: Loved all the Amunet & Frost storyline, and then Goldface time to time appearances. Especially “Officer Chemist” lol.

Solace in Solitude Ch 13

Emily Prentiss x reader warnings: language, usual CM style violence/storylines talked about. A very minimal bit of dialogue taken from an episode. One more chapter to go besties!
You would have been lying if you said you weren’t totally on edge for the next two days, picking at your nails whenever you found yourself distracted, lost in thought as you wondered what exactly was going on across the Atlantic. You did your best to keep occupied with cleaning and packing up the apartment, getting ready for your own move while making sure things were looking like they did the first night you set foot in the building.
You were on the balcony watching the darkening sky, a leftover cigarette between your lips when your phone finally buzzed, and you were quick to pick it up.
‘He’s dead. Declan’s safe. Team’s not off scot free though, there’s gonna be this whole hearing bullshit.’
‘Good luck.’
It felt weird moving to London, not because of the change of scenery or language, but simply because you were back on your own. You’d found your own apartment this time, but it still felt strange to be alone in it, to not have the warm light pooling from Emily’s room when you got home late at night. To not wake up to the smell of fresh coffee being brewed or find her on the couch up in the middle of the night when she couldn’t sleep. You’d become so accustomed to having another person around all the time that being solo felt almost wrong.
Your phone buzzed less than a week into your time there, a number with a 202-area code.
‘Hey, it’s Em. Figured I should pass along the new number, unless you’ve already changed yours.’
Your lips curved up into a soft smile when you read the text, putting down your wine glass so you could reply.
‘I’ve had an international plan since DWB’s. I assume this means that trial thing went well? You’re staying in DC?’
‘Ha. As good as it could, but we proved everything we did was for the right reasons. And yeah… it just feels like the right place to be. How’s London?’
‘Dreary. I forgot how much rain we get this time of year.’
Emily let out a small huff of a laugh, she was about to type up another reply when Derek’s voice broke through her bubble.
“Who’re you texting with that smile?” He asked with a wicked grin, and she immediately locked her phone, rolling her eyes.
“A friend.”
“Yeah right.” He laughed, “girl, you’ve been back less than a month and you’re already playing the field? Sin to win never dies, does it?”
“Looks like we have that in common.” She shot back with a smirk and an appalled look took over Derek’s features.
**
Emily knew things were going to be different, that they were going to feel strange and after her original reunion with the team, she knew it was likely she was going to feel a bit like an outsider in a place she once felt like family. Part of her had expected to slip right back into where she was, that her role would be the same, that life would pick up exactly where it left off when she left. She’d been so separated that Paris was starting to feel like a fever dream and she nearly forgot that while she’d been recovering and recuperating, life had gone on for the rest of the BAU team, they had kept moving while she was standing still.
She was incredibly thankful JJ had managed to pull some strings and keep her apartment, even if it had been sublet in the meantime, she still got to come home to something familiar and didn’t have to start from nothing for personal belongings. And while the place had been her home for so long, even with Sergio back, there was something missing, an emptiness that hung heavily in the air. She knew it couldn’t help that there was a lingering thought in the back of her head that Ian knew where this apartment was, even if he was six feet under. She missed the companionship that had come with Paris, suddenly having to do it all on her own was annoying, at least she wasn’t home as much as she had been while recovering.
‘Do things feel weird in London, or is it just DC and the whole coming back from the dead thing that’s throwing everything off?’
A small laugh broke through your lips as you picked up your coffee mug to take another sip.
‘I’m sure that has something to do with it. Why are you awake? Isn’t it the middle of the night over there?’
Emily sheepishly glanced to the clock on the nightstand, realizing just how late it really was and she let out a sigh, nestling deeper into the wall of pillows.
‘Couldn’t sleep. I’ve been weaning off most of the meds, plus my mind won’t stop. What time is it there?’
‘Just past seven, coffee time. You wanna call? Talk through it?’
‘Nah. If I call, I’m sure someone will wake up and start screaming cause he thinks its breakfast time.’
‘Uh.. what?’
‘Sergio.’
‘Are you telling me you’ve been back less than two months and you’ve already rescued another child in need or did you rename the other kid?’
Emily couldn’t help but bark out a laugh, quickly covering her mouth to keep quiet. There was no doubt you hadn’t woken up that long ago, the caffeine not quiet hitting your brain stream yet.
‘Sergio’s the cat.’
‘Oh! Right. I’m surprised Penelope gave him up.’
‘Well she has custody on weekends and whenever a case takes me out of town longer than a couple of days.’
‘Oof. Co-parenting, hope that doesn’t get messy.’
She found herself quietly chuckling again, a sense of comfort and calm flowing through her as her body began to relax further into the bed.
‘Only when one of us buys fancier treats.’
‘Good. And for what its worth things are a little off here, but I mean, it’s starting a new life for me, it’s just like riding a bike, I’ll get the rhythm back soon. You went back to something old, but that something has changed completely for everyone involved too. I’m sure constantly jetting around the country doesn’t help your sense of stability either.’
‘Last time I checked you weren’t a shrink.’
‘I’ve been sitting in to a few lectures here and there.’ You replied with a grin, practically able to hear her deadpan through the words on the screen.
‘Any suggestions?’
‘Don’t try to force things too quickly, know that it’s going to take some time for things to feel normal again. As important as it is for you to try to repair the relationships you had, you might want to start looking to make new friends, sprinkle in a bit of freshness to an old lifestyle. Change up your routine, hit up different grocery stores, get your coffee from somewhere new, change your commute, things like that.’
‘Already swapped coffee shops. Pretty sure I terrified the poor girl working the counter the first time I walked back in. Felt too bad to go back.’
‘Well that’s a start, lol. And… if you think you’re gonna stay in DC, that you want to belong there, think about putting down some roots, reasons for you to make it your forever home.’
‘Good thought’
The clock chimed beside you and you glanced up from your phone, letting out a soft sigh,
‘I’ve gotta run, but feel free to text anytime.’
‘Go save some lives. I’ll be fine.’  She signed it off with a smiley face, finally dropping her phone onto the nightstand as she curled around herself, pulling the blankets around her. For the first time since being back she was asleep within minutes.
**
Your phone began to buzz on the kitchen counter, you glanced toward it at first, thinking it was just a text, but when it nearly vibrated off the edge you realized it was a call, and from Emily, nonetheless.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“Hey,” she replied, her voice somewhat strained and your brow furrowed, “what was that whole thing about the spleen? Like, when it comes to getting sick or recovery, that part.”
“Should I be concerned about the sirens in the background?”
“I’m a fed, sirens are a pretty regular occurrence.”
“Yeah?” You raised a brow, leaning against the counter, “what about that out of control beeping from the heart rate monitor?”
“It’s nothing, I’m fine, just ow!”
“Emily...” you warned.
“It’s nothing.” She protested before a louder male voice shouted from the background.
“She got shot!”
“Jesus christ.” You muttered, “you’ve been back less than six months and you’ve already gotten yourself shot? What are you, a walking liability?”
The replies came instantaneously from Emily and Derek respectively, “no!” “YES!”
“I’m gonna be fine!”
“Do you know how many times I’ve heard that? Aren’t you supposed to have vests for these kinda things?”
“I was wearing it! I took the hit to the upper shoulder and this lovely EMT says I’m going to be fine. I just can’t remember what you said about the spleen thing.”
Biting your lip, you let out a sigh, “If you get sick or injured it can and will take longer to heal, recovery’s a bitch, you know that.”
“Uh.. Agent Prentiss?” Another voice cut in and you assumed it was one of the EMT’s, “why can’t we find any medical history past March of last year?”
“That would be the other reason I’m calling.” Emily winced and you chuckled.
“I have your full history listed under Valerie Stewart, I’ll send it over, what hospital?” The EMT rattled off the location that you were quick to scribble down onto a scrap of paper, “I know this isn’t ideal timing, but have you gone to that shrink I set you up with?”
“Yes.” She half grumbled back before you heard another outburst from her co agent.
“She went to one mandatory appointment.”
“Morgan!”
“Ask her about how great her boyfriend Sergio is.”
“Last time I checked, Sergio was the cat.” You replied and Emily groaned, rolling her eyes, “Em, you really need to go a couple of times, especially now.”
“Why does this change things?”
“It’s your first time back in a hospital as a patient since Paris, it’s bound to bring up some stuff.”
“Fine. I’ll go.”
“Thank you.” You pushed off from the counter, “I’ll send your file over, call me when you’re all bandaged up.”
“Yeah.” She replied and you could hear the exhaustion in her voice before the line clicked.
Much later that night your phone buzzed with a text, a picture of Emily back on the jet with her arm in a sling. As tired as she looked, at least she was safe and, on a quick path to recovery from this one.
**
‘Come on, that house is gorgeous!’
You shook your head at Emily’s hesitancy through your text chain. She’d spent the last couple of weeks sending you housing listings, asking your opinions and thoughts on just about everything and she found some kind of flaw in every single one of them.
‘There’s cracks in the foundation.’
‘So? Cracks can be fixed.’
‘No, they can be hidden. They’re still there.’
‘It passed inspection. You’re acting like you’re afraid the place is gonna fall down.’
‘I’m afraid it’s never gone be as strong as it was.’
You paused, a frown taking over your face as you read back the last piece of your conversation, you practically felt your shoulders sagging as you dropped into the couch. You wished there was more that you could do for her right now, but you knew being a world away meant this was it.
‘I have a feeling we’re not talking about houses anymore…’
A longer pause, one that left you watching the three little dots disappear and reappear while Emily debated how to reply. Where she struggled with wanting to blow you off, or if she really did want to get into this right now. Eventually she decided on somewhere in the middle.
‘Remember when we talked about setting down roots?’
‘Yeah.’
‘My therapist said the same thing.’
‘Told ya I wasn’t crazy.’
She huffed out a laugh, holding back the eye roll.
‘I tried. I’m trying. It’s just proving harder with each time. Like the more that I have tying me to here, the more I start to feel trapped. Caged in here with no opportunity to even see the other options anymore. The job’s the same, sure, but it’s also entirely different. We had a case a bit ago where the unsub was drowning his victims only to attempt to resurrect them, it was the first time the rest of the team found out I actually died, it left an even weirder taste in everyone’s mouths. It was the first time Reid looked me in the eye since being back, Morgan’s just barely over it, nothing feels right anymore. And buying a house? That seems like the last thing I should be doing if I feel like this. I don’t know where I’d want to go, what I’d want to be doing, it’s not like I’m out there actively looking for something different…’
‘But if it fell in your lap, you’d probably jump at the opportunity?’
‘Yeah…’
‘Well, hold off on putting the offer down for now, see what else is out there, talk it over with your therapist.’
‘I will. And hey, thanks for being my soundboard for all of this, it really hasn’t been the easiest.’
‘Of course. Life’s always easier with a friend by your side. I’ve got your back.’
‘No kidding.’ She smiled softly, ‘and thank you.’
**
Three weeks later the opportunity really did just drop into her lap. A phone call to an old source to help the BAU on a case lead to a very lucrative and enticing job offer. One that made her stomach twist into more knots than de arming a bomb did.
At the end of the week Emily was surrounded by her team, her friends, people that she loved dearly, who were finally accepting her back in their lives. Yet she still felt completely isolated and alone. She was certain that things were never going to be the same in DC again, that it really was time for her to go. So, as she watched JJ and Will dance together, soft smiles on their cheeks while he leant in to steal a kiss, she made up her mind.
She was taking the Interpol offer.
Maybe a complete reset and starting over really was what she needed right now.

My hottest take of all time is that Mike is (was) the main character of Stranger Things.
Now, do I think he still is? No. Not really.
TBH I would argue that ALL the OG's are main characters in their own way at this point, with them all getting somewhat similar amounts of screen-time across the board by s4.
But if we're talking about the first two seasons, Finn was indeed credited before both Millie and Noah. The only actors that were credited before him were Winona and David (respectfully).
Just rewatching s1-2, you can see very clearly that Mike is being framed as the main character, with his perspective being favored in big group sequences, with us following him places that we don't really follow others, and for longer periods of time.
What I find interesting, is that even though Noah revealed recently that the Duffer's have been slowly building up/hinting at Will's feelings for Mike since the beginning, it's Mike whose perspective we were usually seeing in all those moments.
In s1, we see Mike looking for Will, with Noah only having like a handful of scenes that entire season. We also get more of a focus on Mike's reactions in comparison to the other party members.
In s2, we see Mike making every effort to support Will all season. It's Mike whose reaching out to Will constantly, calling to see why he's not at school, going by his house, sleeping over for days and staying by his bedside at Hawkins lab. Although Will arguably plays a bigger role in the upside down aspect of the show this season, a large portion of Mike and Will moments focused on Mike's feelings for Will being shared through Mike's POV, and not so much the other way around.
It isn't until s3 that Millie starts being credited before Finn (and respectfully so, as she was arguably bringing in more hype in terms of fandom excitement back in those days, so I do get it). And so we're arguably going from Mike centric (s1), to Will centric (s2), to El centric (s3).
As a result, we also started seeing less of Mike's POV. Though, to be fair there are 10+ new characters joining every season, so EVERYONE is getting less screen-time, every season.
But isn't it so convenient, that when we start getting less insight into Mike's POV, he starts acting strange...? And we don't really get outright answers as to why? Answers that we would probably have if we had Mike's POV as much as we used to?
S3 is when we started getting Will's POV more when it came to him and Mike's relationship. Their dynamic sort of flips between s1-2 vs. s3-4.
Not to say we never get Mike's POV anymore, but when we do, it's hard to discern and so most people overlook it completely on the rare occasion that it does pop up.
Anyways, this whole concept reminded me of the main character shots we got at the end of s4.
These were shots that had multiple characters in the frame, but with only (1) person specifically at the forefront...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
YALL KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS???
Arguably, these three main characters storyline's are tied together in a substantial way, and how it all plays out could have been foreshadowed, by the very order and even blocking of these shots.
Think about it.!?!.
Mike was arguably the main character of s1, which means getting his POV at the forefront again would be going back to the shows roots.
Will is arguably the main character of s2, and so blending Mike's arc (ending with Mike hugging Hopper hmmmmmm... Mike accepting his sexuality??) with Will's unreliable narrator arc being resolved (ending with Will and Mike side by side hmmmmmmm... Will getting the boy??), and this combined with Will's connection to the upside down, blending perfectly with his wonder twin, El's storyline (El walking passed Mike and Will.... El dumping his ass again??), with her now at the forefront as the main character, arguably just like in s3, except now she has full autonomy for the first time in the show, she knows her worth, she's accepted herself. And this all coming to a head with those three and everyone in the shows arcs being resolved by the end??
BITCH???

i'm a little bit worried about sjm obsession with azriel because i didn't see her like that with rhys. He's everywhere and got more background that even nesta who is the main character of ACOSF. Also it seems like even HOFAS is very nesta/azriel centric and it makes me wonder if she's gonna give az and gwyn a book just because of her weird obsession with everything nesta related. Like it seems she's forgotten about elain/feyre and now her books evolve around nesta and azriel and nothing for elain
She is definitely obsessed with Azriel, but I think that's because he has a big role to play in the next book. i think that like Rhys, he is going to be paramount in being a major player in the next book (and not just seed supplier). Now, Nesta's ACOTAR storyline is over. The crossover is slightly different--she was utilised for her powers and because of the Trove Objects.
Azriel's story is just starting. If you think about it, up until...well, the crossover, we knew very little about Azriel. He SEEMED to have been present in ACOSF, but his role was pretty episodic and we don't know a whole lot about him at all, by the end of ACOSF. Actually, kind of like Elain. We know there are powers she needs to dust off, but she's been just as mysterious as Azriel.
Which brings me to the last point--yeah, the next book will heavily feature Azriel, but Gwyn? Why? What indication have we had that it would feature Gwyn? Especially as the LI? Literally none. Taking the shipwar out of the equation, and pretending like it didn't exist, what, in ACOSF, indicated that the book would be Gwyn's????????????????
Literally, NOTHING.
Zero. Zilch. Bupkas. Nada.
Did ANYONE in the world (well, except like 2 people) closed ACOSF and proclaimed loudly, well, next book is Gwyn's!
No.
Do you really think that someone will close the book on HOFAS and proclaim, well, next book is Gwyn's! No.
Like why is the world would the next book be Gwyn's?????
Why in the world would SJM leave Azriel, the last remaining single batboy, someone that she clearly very much likes and not have him end up with an Archeron sister???? Like 'you get an Archeron! You get an Archeron! You get an Archeron! And you...well, you get Gwyn!'
LOL. No.

You said in the Ralsei post that his flirting with Kris is supposed to make us uncomfortable or at least question his relationship to Asriel. I agree that Toby could possibly "go there", but do you think it's intentional on Ralsei's part? I genuinely don't think he knows he looks like Kris's brother. If someone makes Kris get into a relationship with someone who looks like their brother, I think it'll be the players fault for knowing he looks like Asriel and forcing it anyway rather than Ralsei himself actually knowingly being into incest. (feel free to answer this without posting the ask if it's worded badly)
all things considered i don't think he does. i think what's happening in deltarune is that ralsei, as a darkner, was created to play on our fondness and love for the asriel we knew in undertale. at the same time, if you're in any way familiar with classic rpgs, you'll realize that ralsei's role in the story is a direct callback to the "healer of the cast, bearer of the prophecy and love interest for the protagonist" trope (a role that was always given to female characters, tying into his gnc quoi), so being framed romantically by the story is... kind of a given here. however, those two core aspects of his, well, self, are basically incompatible. at least when it comes to his desire to be liked by kris, because being pushed into romantic situations you perceive as incestuous is, understandably, going to freak a guy out.
as you probably know, i recently had the chance to play earthbound, and paula reminded me of ralsei so much. ralsei deconstructs the rpg girl trope in general, but knowing how big of a mother 2 fan toby is, i feel like she was a pretty clear inspiration in the way he wrote ralsei. and something that happens again and again and again throughout the course of earthbound as soon as paula joins the team, is that people constantly make comments about her and ness being together. now, paula/ness is canon by the end of the game and has been confirmed as such by the creators, but earthbound as a game heavily features the topic of fatedness; and unlike deltarune, chosen ones and prophecies and dreams of future friends are never questioned by its plot, they are the plot. so, since a big part of deltarune's gimmick consists in questioning the trope of rpg fate, i wonder if ralsei's crush on kris might be revealed to be something predetermined too, going forward. after all, he spent a long time waiting for the heroes of prophecy to arrive so he could become their friend and help them on their quest. if that same "fate" determined that he was supposed to be kris' love interest, then knowing ralsei he probably accepted that fact and acted accordingly. which would mean getting into whether those feelings are actually genuine or if they're born out of duty and his submission to What Is Right And What Should Be.
the main reason i don't think he's aware, though, is that that incompatibility between those two aspects of himself that prevent him from fulfilling (part of) his purpose is a storyline that heavily reminds me of spamton's. ralsei is the most "purposepilled" character in the entire game. he is ADAMANT about reinforcing 1) his own lack of agency 2) that of all other darkners 3) the darkners' purpose towards the lighters as not only inescapable, but good, 4) the status quo of the light world/dark worlds dynamic as it stands. fulfilling his purpose is a BIG deal to him, and the story is obviously going to have an arc challenging it and sending the poor boy into an existential crisis. and him realizing during the events of the game that his literal appearence alone makes kris uncomfortable and prevents him from being the good rpg love interest character he was created to be, well... it just feels like a good way to further that arc.

Outlander 7x02 Thoughts & Easter Eggs
Tumblr media
Spoilers below the cut for “The Happiest Place on Earth”
Wow, what an episode! There’s so much to unpack here but I will start by saying that I deeply enjoyed this one. A lot of direct from the book dialogue, some plot that was reworked and-in my opinion-for the better. Brilliant acting by many but especially Sam and Cait. It had a lot squeezed into it but let’s get into it.
Alan Christie
To start, we finally had the resolution for Malva and learned that Alan not only assaulted and abused her for her entire life, but was also the one who killed her. This was such a sensitive storyline and to have those flash backs with Malva made me emotional. Jessica Reynolds is a wonderful actress and her Malva was perfect. This scene was the first one I could feel the pain point of having to end season 6 prematurely. The gap between Malva’s death, followed by the hiatus, to now reach the culmination here almost made the impact of Malva’s death take a back seat to the beginning of these new storylines. You can feel that 7x01 and 02 were meant to be a part of that ending, but what can you do 🤷🏻‍♀️ that’s me being nit picky.
But back to Alan. This was almost exactly what happened in the books and I was happy that Young Ian made such a brief appearance. That spacing between episodes likely made people forget that he had a little romance happening with Malva, but his honor once again rang true with his actions here.
Major continuity error with Claire’s wig though– only when she is burying Alan does her hair grow 3 inches, then magically is cut again for the remainder of the episode.
Mrs Bug
Book readers know the upcoming storyline with Mrs. Bug, and we set the foundations this episode when Wendigo and his men come to the Big House in search of gem stones. There they uncover Arch Bug’s hidden gold (which is very significant later on). I loved seeing this preview of what is to come.
Mandy’s Birth
Amanda Fraser is born and we get a very quick moment of happiness for this little family, when the hammer drops that she has a serious heart condition that Claire cannot fix. This is the impetuous behind the MacKenzie’s and the Frasers separating for what I assume will be majority of the season. The scene with them all at the stone circle was very touching and I felt like Cait and Sam’s acting shined brightly here. The best part for me was the quote from Jamie taken directly from the books where he tells Claire
“For your sake, I will continue–though for mine alone…I would not.”
I also deeply enjoyed the Disney tie ins from the book, the humorous moment where Jamie tries to understand how a giant rodent is meant to be fun for children, and his wishes to Jemmy to give a mouse named Michael his regards. All direct from the books, and delivered perfectly.
Bree meets William
The moment we’ve (I’ve) been waiting for, WILLIAM has graced our screens. Though it was short, I squealed when I saw him and Lord John together, especially him in his red coat. You can certainly see the resemblance and while we have yet to see his acting chops on full display, Charles appears to be a perfect casting. He has the cocky confidence of a young Jamie Fraser down pat, I’m curious to see what other nuisances he brings to the role.
Lord John and Jamie
This scene was touching and so well done, Sam and David have always had such great scenes together and really made this relationship between these two men such a beautifully complicated thing. John has long been trying to convince Jamie to do the right thing and fight for the British, but you can see his true intentions here more than ever. If Jamie fights for the British, he can protect him. When Jamie chooses to fight opposite John and William, he knows he cannot.
In a last act of love and friendship, John returns the gem to Jamie from his escape at Ardsmiur. Something we know meant so much to John. His love for Jamie will always win out in the end, and I loved that the scene had room to breathe at the end. John crying alone in his room, and Jamie’s pause outside the door and his watery eyes was perfectly done.
Claire’s Breakdown
In the last scene of episode 1, Claire and Jamie have a discussion about Tom Christie and his confession. In the show, they chose to end that scene with Claire going to sleep while Jamie takes revenge on Richard Brown (and what a badass scene that was). In the books, the moment ends with Claire and Jamie trying to be intimate again, and Claire having a breakdown.
The show has now taken that scene and moved it into episode 2, which actually felt a lot better to me having watched it this way. I was sad that this moment was removed from episode 1 but beyond happy to see it here because it was another wonderful showcase of Sam and Cait’s acting and Claire and Jamie’s love. In the books, Claire cries because she is sad for Tom, for Malva, for Frank. Jamie tells Claire to weep for them because you “canna keep a ghost at bay. He tells her to let them in and grieve for them so she can heal.
In the show, Claire cries for the loss of her family –Fergus and Marsali, the MacKenzies, and Jamie mentions Faith, Murtagh, his mother and brother. They have both lost so many, and he encourages her to cry for them. To me this was so much more poignant and relevant to the events of the episode. I really loved this change.
The Throwing of the Gem
Another iconic scene the we finally got to see brought to life was when Jamie gives Claire the gem stone and tells her that she can go with Bree, or go back if he should die. The acting in this was so perfect and in the books, Claire throws the stone far into the woods to prove to Jamie once again that she is never leaving him. I enjoyed his little jab that she should probably go and recover it.
Wendigo Donner
The return of Wendigo Donner finally closed the loop on the big house fire, and I’m so excited to see how the beginning of episode 3 starts. The highlight of this scene for me was the callback to season 3, when Claire is pretending to be abducted so that Jamie can get what he needs from Lord John Grey. In this scene (and in the books) Jamie is lying to Donner about not having gemstones in the house, but then changes his tune once Claire’s life is in danger. He leans into the ‘disgruntled husband upset with his wife’ tune and tells Donner that Claire hid all the stones while he was away, so she is the only one who knows there location (thus making it impossible to kill her). The humor in Claire’s eyes made me laugh in an otherwise tense scene.
We get much of the same dialogue and story beats as the books here but the one subtle change happens when Jamie finds out that the man in their house is in fact Donner and not some random group of men looking for money. As soon as he hears his name, he lunges for Donner to seek revenge on what he had done to Claire.
In the books, Claire slips out of Donners arms and lunges after him, with Jamie holding her back at the waist. They try to plot an escape but one thing leads to another and Jamie actually kills Donner with a knife before the ether explodes. In the books, it is because Young Ian lit a match to help illuminate the dark room everyone was sitting in. Big change, subtle change, but one I’m interested in seeing them explain next episode.
All in all I loved this one, I’m enjoying the changes made and the pacing of this felt better than the first episode. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Hi, again. 👋
I found the post you were talking about. The stan's account was deactivated, but yeesh. 😬 Nice replies to them, btw.
The stan that bashed on me said I was being misogynistic, even though I'm a black woman who just wanted to see another black character get their chance to shine.
Hell, it's not just the shows and movies (I think this all started with Endgame). It's also the Steve Rogers musical too. I don't know if you know about it, but Disney made the musical real, and it really did Sam and Bucky dirty.
Sam isn't even in it. Maybe he was mentioned once, but the musical showed an image of Sam as Captain America. As for Bucky, his scene from CA:TFA, where he saved pre-serum Steve, was given to Peggy instead. Bucky was mentioned once, and the musical tried to justify Steve's ending from Endgame. All for this ship.
And, frankly, I don't hate Peggy, I'm just more annoyed that other characters get shoved aside as well as this great dynamic that Steve and Bucky had, while she and her ship with Steve has been getting propped up more and more. But, seeing some of your and the others' posts, I get why you guys don't like her.
Girl, don’t get me started on the abomination that was Rogers the musical. It could have been glorious, it had so much potential, but once again Bucky’s role in Steve’s story was given to Peggy, and Sam wasn’t even there!
I feel like Marvel feels the need to tone down Stucky or their friendship overall because it was just too powerful. We all remember the hashtag that begged Marvel to make Stucky Canon, #givecaptainamericaaboyfriend. They just couldn’t let it happen, not to a main and important character like Steve, god forbid. And so ever since civil war Stucky has always had little to no scenes together no matter how well established it was in previous projects. All their scenes and dynamic were given to Peggy, their friendship was toned down, Steve’s whole ending happened. It just feels like Stucky is so menacing to Marvel that the only way to stop us is by destroying Steve, Bucky and their relationship.
I mean, Steve is given no justice in his ending and in all the other projects he appeared in. Bucky went from a victim and prisoner of war to someone who must make amends for things that were beyond his control. And the depth of their friendship was toned down and reduced every time Peggy was involved. And then they wonder why many people in the fandom dislike Peggy or why the whole Rogers the musical initiative flopped the second it went beyond Hawkeye.
Like, even if you don’t ship Stucky you can tell that they care for each other, and you can tell there was a shift after people actually wanted Marvel to take action and do something about this dynamic. Steve can’t get even one episode as his own character because Peggy must be there. Bucky had more luck, but still… and let’s not even talk about Sam, his only appearance was as a zombie!
In another post of mine I ranted about how bothered I was that Peggy was inserted in the 1602 storyline, and i haven’t changed my mind. It would have been so nice to give Steve one episode about himself, about his dynamic with his best friend and about the relationship with himself and his fellow avengers. But no, Peggy must be there too, and for no good reason as well.
I feel like Marvel trying to erase pre-existing relationships to have Peggy shine only results in fans turning their back on Marvel and hiding in fanfiction or whatever piece of media that can actually bring justice to the characters. Once someone on Tumblr said “you gave us the characters, but once you mess them up they’re not yours anymore. You don’t understand and respect them, therefore you don’t deserve them.” and I couldn’t agree more, which is why I am currently reading and writing fanfiction rather than buying into everything marvel gives us.
Peggy was the love interest with more screen time even before what if and all that jazz, she had her own show! And I fear that the day Marvel will realize that pushing a reimagined Nazi turned Mary Sue into every single what if episode where she can fit instead of enhancing the characters that are actually relevant in-universe it will be too late.
Sorry about the rant, I get carried away when it’s about my boys lol

Thoughts about Koschei's goals? Who do you think will play a role in stopping him? How do you think they can stop him? Feel free to include quotes to support your thoughts! Thank you so much for your thoughtful analysis, it's always a joy to read. 🙏🏼
Good morning and thank you for kind words! I love the question and the warm fuzzies your anon gave me 🥰❤️
I think Silver Flames did a pretty good job of telling us exactly what Koschei's goals are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His goal being to rule, and at least one of the ways he's looking to do that:
Tumblr media
But before the Trove was introduced in SF, I think there was also the question of why he captured Vassa and the other girls (who I believe may also be human):
Tumblr media
That, in my opinion, may have something to do with this:
Tumblr media
It's possible that the curse which bound him to the lake was tied to the blood of the fae-warrior who trapped him there, a common theme in the series like how Rhys's blood is keyed to the Prison lands through his ancestors.
We were specifically given the information that the only trace of the fae-warriors blood now runs through a human line and that could be why Koschei has been trapping these (human?) girls, to try and find her descendent. As he's not free yet, it seems he's been unsuccessful in locating them.
That makes me wonder if the Archeron's are descended from the fae-warrior from long ago and that is why Koschei was willing to make a bargain with Papa Archeron. If Koschei sensed a blood relation in him and was aware that he had daughters who could be the key to helping him break the curse, it might have made him amenable to the bargain to temporarily free Vassa. Especially if he sensed that Lucien (spell-cleaver) was Elain's mate in the same way that the Bone Carver knew what Rhys and Feyre's son would look like. The two of them together could be the key to his freedom (her blood and his curse breaking abilities). And the Trove will aid him in forcing Lucien and Elain to do his bidding.
Because of that, I think that Elain and Lucien (along with their friends, possibly Eris, Jurian, and maybe Mor? I'd say Vassa but I'm not sure whether he'll have called her back at that point) will be the key to defeating him.
I think there's a chance that Koschei is possibly Valg as his sister (the Weaver) bled black and if that's true, than a healers light could be used to defeat him (I do have a theory that Elain might have healing powers). Valg also have an aversion to fire though in SF there's a line that says Eris's fire may not have stood up to Koschei's lake so I wonder if Lucien's "sun" powers might come into play if his fire were to fail. But I think the biggest key to defeating Koschei will be outsmarting him especially as we're told the depths of his knowledge are fathomless. Elain and Lucien are canonically wise and Lucien is cunning (not to mention Helions heir and Day Court holds all the knowledge of their world in its libraries) so it's possible they'll trick him into giving up the location of the black box which I assume hides his soul. I've considered that it may be located in the prison or the Queens castle which we're told has enough wards on it to trip up even Helion. Once they find that and destroy it, he would not be "deathless" any longer.
As far as Vassa being freed of Koschei's "curse", I think Elain may have something to do with that:
Sorry, that was a lot! There are so many moving pieces to the Koschei storyline so I tried to cover all of them.

Brotherly Betrayal Part 2
Dean Winchester x Y/N x Sam Winchester
Warnings: cheating, angst, hurt, ...
Side note: English isn’t my first language.
This part is just pure pain and angst
*Does not follow The SPN storyline *
Tumblr media
--
Recap part 1:
Sam didn’t seek for a new romance but when he met Y/N she seemed to have everything he wanted in a girl. After introducing her to his brother they recognise immediately each other from a spicy night together years ago.
After a year of fantasising about each other, one night they couldn’t resist the lust anymore, and give in.  Y/N decided to leave Sam, Dean can’t stand to see his little brother heart broken.
--
The air hung heavy with silence, broken only by the soft hum of baby’s engine and the rhythmic tapping of Dean's fingers on the steering wheel. Sam sat slumped in the passenger seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead, but his mind lost in the labyrinth of his thoughts.
It had been a month since Y/N, had shattered his world with these simple words: "I'm sorry, Sam, it’s best we go our separate ways." The pain was still fresh, like an open wound that refused to heal. He had tried to make sense of it all, to find some semblance of closure, why would she say she cheated, with who did she spend the night.
But the questions lingered like ghosts in the shadows.
Dean glanced at his brother, his heart heavy with concern. He knew Sam was hurting, "Sam," Dean began cautiously, "you know you can talk to me, right? Whatever's on your mind, I'm here for you."
Sam sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping even further. "I appreciate it, Dean, I really do. But I don't even know where to begin. It's like... I thought we were happy, you know?”
Dean nodded sympathetically, his grip tightening on the wheel. He had seen Sam at his lowest, had watched him weather the storms of heartbreak before. But this time felt different. Probably because Dean felt guilty.
"Did she say why she ended things?" Dean asked gently, afraid, his voice barely above a whisper.
Sam shook his head, his jaw clenched in frustration. "No, not really. Just... that she hadn’t been faithful, and that said she needed space, needed time to figure things out. But I can't help but wonder... was it something I did? Something I said?"
Dean watched the road ahead, the headlights cutting through the darkness like a beacon in the night. "I know this is tough, but you got to believe me when I say it wasn't your fault. Y/N's a great girl, but sometimes people just... drift apart. It doesn't mean you did anything wrong."
Sam nodded slowly, his gaze fixed on the passing scenery outside the window. "I know you're trying to help, Dean. And I appreciate it, I really do. But I can't shake this feeling, you know? Like there's something I'm missing, something she's not telling me."
Dean's heart clenched at the pain in his brother's voice, the anguish that echoed in every word. He wanted to tell Sam the truth, wanted to confess the role he had played in Y/N's betrayal. But the guilt weighed heavy on his conscience, a burden he wasn't sure he could bear.
"Sam," Dean said carefully, choosing his words with utmost caution, "did Y/N ever mention... not being happy? Like, was there something she felt was missing in your relationship?"
Sam furrowed his brow, his mind racing to recall the countless conversations he had shared with Y/N over the past year. "I mean, she mentioned just... you know, normal relationship stuff."
"I need you to listen to me, okay? And I need you to believe me when I say... Y/N wasn't entirely honest with you." Sam's eyes widened in surprise, his gaze snapping to meet Dean's in the dim light of the car. "What do you mean? What did she say?"
Dean hesitated, rubbing his neck. But he knew there was no turning back now, knew that the truth would set them free, no matter how painful it might be. ”I eh, heard her talking to Charlie before.
His voice filled with remorse, "Y/N... she missed the intimacy, man. And when you couldn't give her what she needed, I guess, she... found it somewhere else. I'm sorry, Sam," Dean said quietly, his voice heavy with guilt, "I should've told you sooner.”
The Impala rolled to a stop in front of a motel, its neon sign flickering feebly against the backdrop of the night sky. Sam stepped out of the car, his footsteps heavy with exhaustion and resignation. He trudged towards the motel room, his mind still reeling from the revelations of the past hour.
Dean lingered by the trunk of the car, his eyes fixed on the dimly lit window of the motel room across the parking lot. He knew what he had to do. As Sam disappeared into the shadows of the motel, Dean reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.
He scrolled through the contacts until he found Y/N's number, his thumb hovering uncertainly over the call button.
"Hello?"  "Y/N," Dean said evenly, his voice steady despite the turmoil raging within him, "we need to talk."
There was a moment of tense silence on the other end of the line, the static crackling like electricity between them. Then, finally, Y/N spoke, her voice soft and hesitant. "Dean...What... Why are you calling me?" she asked, her words tinged with uncertainty.
"I want you to do the right thing," Dean said firmly, his grip tightening on the phone. "I want you to give my brother another chance."
Y/N's breath caught in her throat, the weight of Dean's words hanging heavy in the air between them. "Dean, I... I don't know if that's possible. Things became too complicated."
Dean clenched his jaw, his frustration bubbling to the surface like a volcano on the verge of eruption. "Complicated or not, Y/N, you owe it to Sam to try. He loves you, damn it. And he deserves better than to be left wondering what went wrong."
“Don’t blame me for everything Dean! Last I checked you were there with me.” He knew she was right, he knew that his own actions had played a role.
"I know," Dean said softly, his voice heavy with remorse. "I know I messed up, Y/N. I should've never let things go as far as it did. But that doesn't change the fact that Sam deserves better than to be left in the dark."
“If you really believe he needs the truth, you tell him you slept with his girl, I think he is hurt enough. ” she hangs up the phone. For a moment, Dean was frozen in place, she was right, he didn’t have the guts to tell him. Little did Sam nor Y/N knew Dean chose this motel, the one close to Y/N’s workplace.
--
The morning sun cast a warm glow over the diner, its cheery facade belying the tension that hung heavy in the air. Sam and Dean sat at a booth near the window, their plates untouched as they waited for the waiter, seeing how Y/N emerged from the kitchen.
Dean glanced up as he saw her approach, his heart skipping a beat at the sight of her. She looked tired, her eyes red-rimmed and weary, but there was a steely determination in her gaze that he couldn't help but admire.
Y/N hesitated as she reached their table, her hands trembling slightly as she clutched her notepad to her chest. "What can I get for you guys?" she asked, her voice strained but polite.
Sam glanced up at her, surprised but his gaze searching her face for, hoping she would meet his eyes. "Just coffee, thanks," he said quietly, his voice tinged with sadness.
Y/N nodded, her movements jerky as she scribbled their order on her pad. "Coming right up," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she hurried back towards the kitchen.
Dean watched her go, his heart heavy with guilt and regret. He knew he had put her in an impossible position, had forced her to confront the consequences of their actions head-on. As Y/N returned with their coffee, Sam watched Y/N closely, his heart heavy with longing and uncertainty. "Y/N," Sam said softly, his voice tinged with desperation, "can we talk? Please?"
Y/N's eyes flickered with apprehension, her gaze darting nervously between Sam and Dean as she searched for a way out. "Sam, I... I can't," she said hesitantly, her voice trembling with emotion. "I'm at work, and I just... I can't do this right now."
As Y/N disappeared back into the kitchen, Sam was left alone with his thoughts.
--
After her shift she walked to the nearest motel, knowing the brothers would be staying there. She saw how Sam walked out the door. Knowing him, going for a walk to ease his mind.
The sharp rap on the door jolted Dean from his thoughts. He swung the door open, expecting to see Sam standing on the other side, but instead found himself face-to-face with Y/N, her expression stormy and her eyes ablaze with anger.
"Y/N," Dean said, taken aback by her sudden appearance, "what are you doing here?"
Y/N's jaw clenched in frustration, her fists balled at her sides as she glared at Dean with unbridled fury. "I can't believe you guys would show up at my work like that," she spat, her voice dripping with disdain.
"You can't just barge in here and expect me to drop everything just for your needs," she snapped, her voice rising with each word. "I have a job to do, Dean.” "I know I messed up, Y/N," Dean said softly, his voice tinged with remorse. "And I'm sorry for that. But we need to talk. You and Sam need to. We need to clear the air, to put an end to his pain and uncertainty."
"Okay, you want to talk.” She said still angry “Let's talk." Y/N crossed her arms. “Tell me Dean, the real reason you showed up uninvited after me telling you to let me be.”
"The real reason?" Dean repeated, his voice steady despite the turmoil raging within him. "The real reason is because we care about you, Y/N. We care about what happens to you, and I couldn't just stand by and watch you push Sammy away."
Y/N's eyes narrowed at Dean's response, her arms still crossed tightly over her chest. "Is that so?" she said sceptically, her voice laced with bitterness. "Or is it because you couldn't stand the thought of me moving on without you?"
Dean winced at the accusation, the sting of her words cutting through him like a knife. "Y/N, it's not like that," he protested, “I-I’m trying to make things right."
"And I appreciate that. But it's not that simple. It's not just about saying sorry and expecting everything to go back to the way it was, you don't get to barge into my life and expect me to welcome you with open arms after everything that's happened."
Y/N took a deep breath “Look me in the eyes, Dean. And tell me you want me to get back together with Sam. Tell me you’re here for his feelings instead of your own.” Her eyes stared in his.
With a heavy sigh, he met her gaze, his eyes filled with a mixture of vulnerability and determination. "Y/N," Dean began, his voice soft but resolute, "that night... it meant something to me. More than I can put into words."
"I'm falling for you," Dean admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. Dean reached out, his hand trembling slightly as he gently cupped Y/N's cheek. "But Sam will always be my brother, Y/N, I will always put him first." he said sincerely.
Y/N's eyes brimmed with tears "Dean" she whispered shaking her head, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her heart. “Shh.” his thumb tracing circles on her cheek as he leaned in closer. "You don't have to say anything" he said gently.
"Y/N," Dean said softly, his voice thick with emotion, “I will push my own feelings away. Just... just give Sammy another chance.” Y/N reached out, her hand trembling as she gently brushed her fingers against Dean's hand on her face. "Dean, I ran away not because of what happened between us that night," she confessed,
Her voice barely above a whisper. "I ran away because... because I'm falling for you, too." Dean's heart skipped a beat at her words, the realization dawning on him that their feelings for each other ran deeper than either of them had dared to admit.
His head leaning in until it was just inches away from Y/N's. With a soft exhale, he let his forehead rest against hers, their breath mingling in the small space between them.
"Y/N, I..." Dean began, his voice faltering as he struggled to find the right words. Her eyes brimmed with tears, her heart breaking at the pain in Dean's voice.
Y/N's fingers found their way to Dean's cheek, her touch gentle and reassuring as she caressed his stubbled jawline. Dean closed his eyes, allowing himself to bask in the warmth of her touch, the closeness of her presence.
"Dean, please," she pleaded, her voice tinged with desperation. "I don't want to hurt Sam any more than I already have. But I can't ignore what happened between us. ”
Dean's heart plummeted like a stone in his chest as he felt a cold wave of panic wash over him. Slowly, he pulled away from Y/N, his gaze shifting towards the doorway where his brother stood, his expression unreadable.
Sam's eyes flickered between Dean and Y/N, his jaw clenched in a tight line as he took in the scene before him. For a moment, silence hung heavy in the air, broken only by the sound of their ragged breaths echoing in the small space.
"Sam," Dean began, his voice trembling with apprehension, "I... we can explain."
Sam's eyes betraying the storm of emotions raging within him. He took a step into the room, his gaze never leaving Dean's as he spoke, his voice low and steely.
"I think I've heard enough," Sam said quietly, his words like a dagger to Dean's heart. "I'll leave you two alone." With a heavy heart, Sam turned on his heel and disappeared from the room, leaving Dean and Y/N alone in the wake of his departure.
"Sam, wait!" Y/N called out, her voice thick with emotion. Sam paused in his tracks, his back still turned towards her. Sam, please," Y/N pleaded, her voice trembling with urgency. "Let me explain."
Sam turned to face her, his eyes weary but filled with a flicker of hope. "Explain what, Y/N?" he asked quietly, “How you forget to mention you slept with my brother? That's worse than being cheated on.”
"I'm sorry, Sam," she said softly, tears glistening in her eyes. "Sam, I..." Y/N began, her voice catching in her throat as she struggled to find the right words. "I didn't mean for it to happen. It was a mistake, a moment of weakness."
Sam's expression hardened, his jaw clenched in frustration. "A mistake?" he repeated, his voice tinged with bitterness. "You call sleeping with my brother a mistake? But you just confessed you’re love for him!" He points at their room.
Y/N winced at the harshness in Sam's tone, the guilt and remorse swirling within her like a tempest. "Sam, I'm sorry," she whispered, tears welling in her eyes. "I never meant to hurt you. I never meant for any of this to happen."
Sam's gaze softened slightly at the sight of Y/N's tears, his own heart heavy with conflicting emotions. "Y/N," he said softly, his voice tinged with sadness, "I don't know what to do. I don't know how to feel."
Y/N reached out, her hand trembling as she gently trying to grab Sam's arm, but he pulled away "Sam, please," she pleaded, her voice filled with desperation. "Please don't shut Dean out. Please give me and him a chance to make things right."
"I don't know if I can," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Sam," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "do you want me to leave, tell me what I need to do, what you need?"
Sam's gaze softened at her words, his heart aching with the pain of their fractured relationship. He reached out, his hand finding hers and squeezing it gently.  Sam replied quietly, his voice tinged with sadness, "I don't want you to leave. But I need some time to think. And then I need to talk to Dean."
--
Dean and Y/N sat in silence on the end of the bed waiting for Sam to return.
When he walked in the room Y/N gave a soft hurt smile to Sam and left the room to take a walk in the cold night. Leaving the brothers, giving time to talk.
Sam's voice cut through the tense silence, his eyes fixed on Dean with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension. "Dean," he began, his voice steady but tinged with emotion, "I need you to promise you’ll be honest with me. I need you to tell me, everything Dean.”
“Starting with, why... why Y/N?"
Dean's heart clenched at the question, the weight of Sam's gaze bearing down on him. He took a deep breath. "I wish I could give you a simple answer. But the truth is... it's complicated."
Sam's brow furrowed in confusion, his expression a mixture of frustration and disbelief. "Complicated how?" he pressed, his tone tinged with urgency.” You know we had a... a night together years before you met her, right.”
Sam nodded. "And since the moment you introduced me to Y/N, she's been on my mind. Constantly. 24/7. I couldn’t stop thinking about that night Sammy." Dean scratched his neck not knowing is continuing was the right thing to do.
"When Charlie came over, I overheard Y/N talking about her sex life." Sam's eyes widened in surprise, his brow furrowing in confusion. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice tinged with apprehension.
Dean hesitated, his mind racing as he struggled to find the right words. "Y/N mentioned how different we were. She compared the two of us." he explained carefully, "and how she wasn't really happy, now.”
He met his brother's gaze, his eyes filled with sincerity and remorse. “And then the three of us watched a movie together. And... and when Charlie left, we stayed for another movie and then... I kissed her.”
“Is that when...” Sam couldn’t finish that question. “No, she stopped it and took off. We were distant for a while.” Sam nodded, remembering the awkward tension in the bunker. “So, when?” Dean searched his face, trying to see if he really wanted to know.
“The night after the bar, you two went home early together, you fell asleep when Y/N dressed up all sexy for you..." Dean began, his voice faltering as he recounted the events of that fateful evening, "I got home earlier, Y/N was in the kitchen, upset, couldn’t sleep, still in the babydoll dress.”
Dean swallowed before continuing. “She was surprised to see I came home. I told her I didn’t sleep with that girl from the bar, I couldn’t, I thought of her all the time. And she said you fell asleep before... That's when it happened. Y/N and I... we... "
Dean couldn't finish his sentence “Just once, Sammy.”   “Yeah,” he looked at the floor.” Because she left the day after.”
After a deep sigh Sam continued "I trusted you, Dean," his voice breaking with the weight of his betrayal. "I trusted both of you." Dean felt his heart shatter at the pain in Sam's voice, the guilt and remorse consuming him like a wildfire. "Sam, I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I never meant for any of this to happen."
“But, you have to believe me she means more to me than just another one-night plaything. I wouldn’t have done it if it was just sex. I tried to fight it I really did. But I guess we had a little too much to drink to hold back.”
But Sam shook his head, his gaze filled with a mixture of anger and hurt. "I don't know if I can forgive you for this, Dean," he said quietly,
“I’m eh, going to go away for a while. I need time to think. I need you two to give me some space.” Sam said getting up ready to leave. “I’ll eh stay at Jody’s for a while.”
Dean nodded and watched his brother leave the room.

the gay!eddie storyline, and how it should go
this is gonna be a long one, so read under the cut
abc has the potential to do the most groundbreaking thing since 4/4/24, and that is a properly fleshed out, tear inducing catholic deconstruction coupled with a sexuality crisis leading to eddie realizing he's gay and in love with buck (with mention of how he still loved shannon, just not in the way he wanted to)
before i go into this, let me set the record straight (ha) and say that while eddie doesn't necessarily need to realize his feelings yet, i believe that he's the type of person to not let himself even think about his sexuality until it's staring him down in the form of being in love with his best friend.
anyways
they've already lain the groundwork. the fact that he ran at every given chance from shannon, even moved within driving distance of her and never picked up contact until chris' needs required it. the fact that he panicked at the idea of being a ready made family with ana, even admitting that he was in the relationship for chris and that he had hoped he would learn to love ana. the fact that he was most definitely in one long panic attack the entirety of 7x05.
why did he ask marisol to move in off screen? why did he ask her to move in after we'd only gotten two mentions of her the entire season (both in relation to her helping with chris)? i think he was overcompensating again. trying to fill that motherly role, and as he said in 7x01, he's a nester. he nests.
though, if you ask me, he's a very bad nester unless it's with buck.
furthermore, why did finding out marisol flunked out of nun school send him into a panic? you could argue that it's strictly catholic guilt, and that may be true, but to me it seemed like the catholic guilt was only the top layer.
eddie's never had a problem with being with a woman pre-maritally. when he was with shannon, he was still fully immersed in his family's catholicsm, so if this was a problem he was going to have, you would think that it would appear then, right? so what's the difference between when he was in el paso with shannon, and now with marisol?
he's had eight years to figure himself out. well, not completely, but he's getting there.
i think eddie has been on the verge of figuring out his feelings for buck, and that's what made him panic and ask marisol to move in. if marisol is living with him, then when buck is over for weekly movie nights or what have you, marisol will be there as a buffer. he doesn't understand why he's feeling the way he is, but with marisol around, the chances of him being alone with buck are fewer, and the chances of having to address the feelings are even less so.
so now, he's unpacking marisol's boxes, and he sees the picture. and freaks out. because here is the very thing he was trying to avoid. and now it's living in his house.
but, why does he only panic when it comes to sleeping with marisol? because it makes him think of the one thing he hasn't allowed himself to. and that's buck.
this fact coupled with buck just starting to question his sexuality is what's going to push eddie over the edge. sure, he's going to be the most supportive best friend he can be, but in the back of his mind he's going to wonder why he gets a sick feeling in his stomach as he watches buck and tommy dance, as he watches them flirt on scene where air ops was called, as he watches them interact at the grant-nash barbecue buck invited him to.
eddie runs. he doesn't face things until it hits him in the face, and even then sometimes he still ignores it. when he does face it, it's going to hit him all at once, and he'll probably panic and probably run to hen and karen's house, and there will be lots of tears. and angst. and i can't wait

Is it too late?
Sebastian x reader
Summary - Anon request for “
Sebastian teaches you Crucio (he offers himself first, maybe to be manly) but try as you might, you can’t cast it on him. All attempts fail. You switch roles, and Sebastian casts Crucio on you instead and gets it right on the first try. After the events of the game’s main storyline, your relationship with Seb is understandably strained. One day, you have a heart-to-heart talk about your relationship (we used to be friends, we used to be close). You go over a myriad of topics: the regrets you both have over what happened, the feelings of guilt (since you were a bad influence, Ominus has always been right), sadness over Anne’s situation (losing both her family) etc. etc. and you end up asking him about Crucio. You also still wonder why Seb was able to effortlessly cast Crucio on you. It meant he had to mean it? Did he secretly resent you? But the real reason why was he imagined you with another guy and he harnessed his jealously and rage to cast Crucio on you. Angsty, hurt/comfort vibe :))”
Word Count - 2,567
Warnings - angst, mentions of violence
You and Sebastian exchanged looks of distress when you realized what you were going to have to do to get out of the locked scriptorium. Ominis was clearly in a panic, but the only thing you could focus on was the sound of your own blood rushing in your ears.
For either of you to cast crucio on Ominis or even ask him to cast it would be wildly insensitive. You knew it was going to have to be you or Sebastian and you didn't know what you feared more.
You swallowed hard, looking at Sebastian, but avoiding his eyes, "Teach it to me."
His mouth fell open a bit, but he nodded. He was willing to take the curse if that meant not dying in her as Noctua did. You of course knew what to say so he showed you the correct motions with your wand. You mimicked him a few times before he declared that he was ready.
Ominis covered his ears, pacing in fear several feet behind the two of you. Sebastian closed his eyes and spread his arms out to make himself as easy a target as possible.
Your voice was shaking with emotion when you took your stance and shouted, "Crucio!" Sparks shot out from your wand and even as you winced alongside Sebastian, they died out before reaching his figure. You were breathing heavily, looking at him in confusion.
Ominis chimed in since he'd heard the whole ordeal and realized Sebastian wasn't in pain. "You have to mean it. It's not going to work if you don't," his words were soft and somber.
You looked back and forth from him to Sebastian, "I — I mean it for the sake of us not being trapped. What more can I do?"
The frantic way in which Ominis had been milling about had rubbed off on you. Were you doomed to be stuck since you couldn't truly mean the curse? Ominis is the only one of you that had successfully done it before, but you know he wasn't strong enough to ever survive the guilt if he tried to do it again.
And Sebastian, surely he was in the same boat as you were. It was impossible to ever really wish such pain upon each other. You felt soft hands on your shoulder. You noticed the freckled fingers as you tried to control your breathing.
"Y/N...I think I can do it if you can take it."
At that moment you had no idea how to feel. Part of you was relieved that all hope may not be lost, but how could he mean it? Had you ever done something so awful to him to warrant those feelings? You got lost in your thoughts while more protests came from Ominis. When you snapped back to the reality of the situation you turned around to face Sebastian, "Okay. I'm ready."
You kept your eyes on him the entire time, so many things going through your mind. If he was really going to cast it on you there was a morbid part of you that had to see it. You had to see the look on his face when he did such a thing.
It felt like slow motion when you heard the words from his lips. You caught the glare on his face as he directed his wand toward you. Then you were just on the ground. It felt like your veins were on fire, you heard screaming, but couldn't even register that it was coming from your own mouth.
As quickly as it began, the flames that seemed to lick at you from the inside out dissipated, but the pain lingered. You groaned and clutched at your sides as you felt a body kneel down beside you. You cried out for Sebastian but it was Ominis who wrapped an arm around your shoulders., muttering words that you couldn't make out.
All you were aware of was the shudders wracking your body while you watched Sebastian walk right through the door which had opened up.
Tumblr media
Now it was your seventh year at Hogwarts. So much had changed in the short years that you had been attending the school. In some ways, it seemed like it went too fast. The way your friendship with Sebastian was so strong and seemed unbreakable. The way you could go to class and visit Professor Fig with little worry. All of those things seemed like they were gone much too soon.
Unthinkable things happened. You lost Sebastian to the darkness that you had led him toward; you had supported his misguided attempts to help Anne. You lost Professor Fig trying to finish his wife's research. You were trying to protect the ancient magic and along the way had to put a stop to an entire rebellion.
You had gotten too many of the things that weren't suited for your young age and instead lost all the things you should have been able to enjoy and take for granted.
It had been some time since you had been in the Undercroft. It felt different than it used to. Much colder and lonelier. You were waiting to meet Sebastian. You'd requested to see him late at night. You weren't able to hold onto these burdens any longer. Many of them were just as much his as yours and he needed to be held accountable.
You felt goosebumps pop up over your arms when you heard another set of footsteps arrive. The clock door could be heard closing and you used every bit of strength you had to turn around and face Sebastian. You hadn't completely ignored one another, but everything was surface-level. It hadn't been much of a friendship in quite some time.
You took in his hair and the way it had grown out into soft waves around his face. A faint red stubble appeared across his upper lip and his eyes looked at you with so many questions. Now that he was here and in this location with you, you were at a loss for words.
He spoke up first, "I, er, I got your owl. I hope I'm not late."
You creased your brows at him, giving him a wry smile. "I mean. You're a little overdue for having a meaningful conversation with me."
You crossed your arms and he let out a long breath, cautiously taking a few steps towards you. His chocolate eyes were glued to yours, even if it killed him to hear what you had to say, he was determined to listen.
"I'm sorry for all the things I did. I'm sorry for leaving things so messy between us. I just assumed you would be off the way Ominis and Anne are and want nothing to do with a disgrace like me. It's bad enough you're all harboring my worst secret.
"I should have done more when I heard the news about your mentor and...and about the whole ordeal with Ranrok. I just didn't think I had a place in your life. I think for me to offer you any of my own pity would be insulting when you're so much more valuable than me."
He searched your expression for any hint of emotion. You couldn't conceal the tears that were blurring your vision that you fought so hard to contain.
"Sebastian, you're mad!" you waved your arms around, laughing nervously as you started to walk and talk, "We we're friends. We were nearly more than that, at least, that was what I had thought. Nothing was ever the same after the scriptorium. That day something changed you. Using that bloody curse changed you."
You kept your back to him to hide how heated your face was with the hot tears across your cheeks, "And it's my fault. If I could have just wielded it, I could've handled it. I — I've wielded so much magic. So much strong magic that you can't even fathom. But I failed you. I wasn't strong enough that day and it ruined you. It ruined us.
"You didn't even check on me after you cast the curse. Did you know that?" you laughed bitterly, feeling his presence looming behind you, "Ominis sat with me. He stayed up late nights with me while I tried to make sense of it all and recover from such a thing. All you cared about was Salazar Slytherin. And it didn't even have a good ending. Of course, it didn't, you were dealing with some imperialistic founder that never had good intentions."
You took a few moments to breathe after having lashed out at Sebastian. It was two years' worth of pain and guilt that had been eating at you. It had eaten away at you so much, the keepers weren't even sure you could do the job they had in store for you.
Sebastian moved to place a hand on your shoulder, to turn you to face him. When you did you just looked up at him angrily and jabbed your fists into his chest.
"How could you do it? How could you ruin everything and then abandon me?" You felt helpless as you screamed at him, collapsing against him where he held your end. This isn't how you wanted things to go. You didn't want him to see any more of your weaknesses to use against you, but it was beyond your control now. He had to see what his actions had done and how they had made him feel.
When you had a moment to wipe your eyes, you looked up at him more clearly. You could see the pain and regret written on his face. You could see the tears threatening to fall from his own eyes, but he knew that he didn't deserve anything good from you. He deserved every minute of a beatdown you were willing to give him if only it would put him out of his own misery.
You watched him struggle for words for the first time in your life. He stuttered. He started and stopped his sentences many times, searching for the right thing to say.
"You're right. Ominis was right. I did things that are worse than unspeakable. I abandoned everything for what? Anne never wanted to be cured in the way I was trying to make it happen. Even if she had she would have never forgiven me for the things I had done to myself. I've lost her anyways now. And who knows when something happens to her, when she succumbs if anyone will even tell me.
I lost Ominis. I chewed him up and spit him out as badly as I did you. He trusted me and I couldn't ever extend that courtesy to him, I couldn't...." his words trailed off and he slammed a fist into the wall behind you.
"I couldn't just listen to anybody. I just had to do what I wanted to do. I let the darkness take hold and I couldn't stop. It just consumed me. But you...Y/N...I never wanted to hurt you.
"When I...when I cast the curse to get us out of the scriptorium, I hated it. And I was immature and dumb and thought that if I walked away from what I caused it would relieve me of my own guilt, but it didn't. Do you know what had to think of just to harm you?
I made up my own ridiculous narrative in my head as if you and I were ever an item. Though I wanted it to be so. And I imagined if that were the case how I'd feel to see Garreth or Prewett or some other sod all over you."
He turned away from you now, causing you to stumble forward from where he'd been holding you up. You stared at the back of his robes as his shoulders shook.
"I ran away and ruined everything with you because I was able to make up some stupid story to help us escape with our lives. It would have been better if we all just perished, that's what I think now anyways. Of course, it would have been all my fault and you and Ominis would have never deserved it, but none of you would have had to hurt that way."
You were in shock at the number of confessions he had just made, but he probably felt the same finally hearing your feelings as well, even if they could have been presumed.
Some of the anger seeped out of your body when you realized just how badly he'd been hurting this whole time. You had thought he simply turned to ice, was practicing the dark arts now, and stopped caring. But you could see that was never the case.
You had no words for the situation at hand. You both had exhausted everything you had. You did decide to walk forward and tentatively place your hands around his waist in a much-needed embrace.
You felt him crumble beneath your touch, staggering to stand as loud sobs came from him. He covered your hands with his and held on so tightly you thought that they might fall off. He dropped to his knees, slipping through your grasp. You got down on the floor next time, forcing him to lean on you.
"Y/N...I don't deserve to even still be in this world. I — I wish you would put me out of my misery. There's nobody to miss me. No family is waiting at home for me. And I can accept it if you need to torture me or get your revenge. It wouldn't be wrong at all, but please. I can't take this. I can't live with everything I've done."
He whimpered as he spoke his last few words. You could see him clutching his own arms, fingers turning white from where he tried digging into his own skin through his cloaks. You couldn't bare to see him like this. As much as he made you mad and sad and everything in between, you couldn't take it.
You shifted to where you were in front of him and leaned your forehead against his. You used a gentle hand to wipe some of the wetness from his cheeks and slip a hand beneath his own so he would loosen his grip.
"Sebastian I'm not going to...to kill you. You're still a special person to me, even after everything. Even if you have made a lot of wrong choices. Let's see if we can fix things together, okay?" Your voice wavered slightly, but you meant what you said.
You did want to help him through this, imagining the scale of his pain to be far more severe than your own.
He shook his head against yours, mumbling about how he didn't deserve it and he wasn't worth it. You decided it might be best to let him cry it out and come to terms with his own feelings for a while and it gave you the chance to think about your own as well.
You sat down on the floor with your legs spread open and pulled his limp form against your shoulder. You wrapped warm arms around him and felt him grabbing at your robes, desperate to hold on.
"We'll figure this out," you whispered. You weren't really sure if you were talking to him or yourself.

So, there are plenty of opinions and compelling arguments about whose book is next. I've reached a point where I just want to express some thoughts. I haven't made a decision because my feelings shift every time I consider it.
Personally, just knowing a new book is on the way excites me. I'm sure that even when CC3 comes out, I'll be hunting for crumbs like a broke cokehead – which brings me to my next point.
Maasverse spoilers under the cut.
The next book will be responsible for bridging ACOTAR to CC for readers who follow ACOTAR exclusively. We still have ACOTAR readers wondering if Elriel(!!!!!) will be tasked to find the 4th dread trove, despite it being revealed in CC. The ACOTAR subreddit gets asked every day about what series/book to read after ACOTAR.
There is a crucial element that SJM needed to establish in HoFaS, something that couldn't be addressed in ACOTAR. This is particularly significant, especially when she wrote two CC books consecutively. The context within Prythian needed to be set up in HoFaS before it could seamlessly progress into ACOTAR.
Prison Island/Dusk Court? Illyrian descendants? Avellan fae? All Trove items accounted for? Truth-Teller? Koschei's origins?
Gwynriel makes sense to me because they have the most tie-in to CC. This would help in segueing from Nesta in ACOSF to Truth-Teller's importance in HoFAS, continuing the story with Azriel and Gwyn. It's worth noting that Gwyn felt Aidas in ACOSF, and she is now closer to Nesta than Elain is. Additionally, her role as Merrill's researcher and her interest in the 26 worlds, coupled with her heritage from both grandparents, likely plays a part here. Notably, CC has shown an underwater civilization, which adds to the anticipation of Gwyn's storyline.
Elucien makes sense to me because who best to catch a reader up who does not know about CC than two characters who aren't directly involved with it at all.
Elain was not present when Bryce arrived. She sure as hell is not going to walk in after Rhys introduced himself. I would think that for a moment as huge as a visitor from another world would assemble all members of the IC. We have Mor’s reasoning why she might not be there. We don’t have Elain’s, especially after "doing whatever it takes for this court."
This does help set up for a tandem read where Elain and Lucien move similarly to how Chaol marks what Aelin is doing in ToD or, at best, making it similar to how the context would change if someone were to read HoSaB then ACOSF.
I also have personal reasons why I want one over the other. Elucien because I'm starving for it, but Gwynriel because the fandom has been so out of pocket about Azriel's love life, with Bryciels still being pushed despite SJM's clear reaction to the question. Do I want to suffer through another 18-24 months of half-baked fanfic-based theories that Elucien's book is like Feylin in ACOTAR? Fuck that shit.
There are still many factors to consider because we don't know how involved Bryce would be in Velaris, who all is going to be involved, how involved Azriel is going to be (is the reason we had his POV in ACOSF is because his POV will be featured in HoFaS, like the bonus chapter?), how is Truth-Teller connected to all of this, and most importantly, how CC3 will end now that we know their worlds are connected.
Even then, I still don't know if that would be enough to draw a good conclusion and we might not have long anyway before the next book is announced.

Nugget, the Shifting Cast of Extras, and the Unreliable Narrator
One of the biggest twists of season 2 that I completely did not see coming, is that Nugget was dead all along (a rare miss for me, as I'm usually a great plot guesser). All of the scenes with Nugget were seen through Akliah's eyes; we saw only what she saw/believed, and that was a whole, living mousey friend. The minute Taissa, an outside perspective, came to notice Nugget, we all saw the truth: that he was dead, and had always been dead, and his life with Akliah was nothing but a coping mechanism, a dream that allowed her to keep sane as death slowly closed its claws around all of them.
Akilah was not a reliable narrator of her own story. None of them are.
In this context, the constantly rotating, growing, and shrinking cast of extra JV Jackets makes much more sense. Much of the teen storyline is told through the perspectives and memories of the adult survivors, and through the journals that Shauna kept in the wilderness (more reliable having been written in the moment, but still shaped by her limited perspective as well as trauma and hunger).
It makes sense that their memories focus only on those who are important to what is happening at the time, and the others fade into the background or disappear entirely as their relevance diminishes.
They remember what one background extra wore to the Doomcoming, but forget where she was during the Jackie Snackie. They remember who stood at the gravesite by the plane, but not who drew cards during the first hunt.
Gen and Melissa only got screen time this season because one of the survivors remembers their conversations and interactions. Crystal shows up because of her friendship with Misty. Akilah has a bigger part in s2 due to the Nugget plot and her role in Shauna's labor. Mari has a bigger presence in s2 because she's increasingly annoying and antagonistic to the other survivors, as well as chief acolyte of the Cult of Lottie.
Memory is a tricky thing, and memories made during trauma and starvation are trickier still. They simply don't have the brain power right now to accurately encode memories (adult Lottie mentions this, though she neglects to say that a brain that normally consumes A THIRD of the calories you take in understandably doesn't work very well under starvation conditions).
My prediction is that background YJs will come and go based on their relevance to the events happening on screen. It's not a mistake by the show runners or poor planning or an accident; it's all by design.
Not only does this work in-universe as an explanation for backgrounders coming and going, it gives the writers flexibility to bring in edible characters without having to explain why we haven't seen them before; they've always been there, they just didn't matter until now.
(It also serves to explain why, despite being on the brink of death from starvation, the girls still look pretty normal weight. The out-of-universe explanation is that it's morally reprehensible to ask the young cast to drop to a starvation weight and maintain it for the entire run of the show [or yoyo between seasons, which is even more dangerous]. The in-universe explanation is they remember themselves looking normal, so that's what we see. Just like we saw a healthy, living Nugget. Until we didn't. I wonder if we're going to see a "true" view of them through the eyes of the rescue crew that eventually saves them. Much easier to present one good vfx shot of them looking as haggard as they would actually be rather than multiple seasons.)

I had a random non-Chenford thought. So Tamara is moving out (sobs), there was a lot of talk this episode between Nolan and Celina about her roommate troubles, Lisseth was in that “Lucy apartment/room set tour” video Melissa posted……what if Celina moves in with Lucy when Tamara moves out??
OH MY GOD WAIT YES PLS ♡
i know 😭 still v sad about tamara moving out and also wondering if she will because part of me wonders if she'll leave lucy in the midst of a break up? tho lucy internalizes so much that i could easily see her pretending to be okay for the sake of encouraging tamara? so i think it could go either way.
that said, if it's the latter and lucy assures tamara she's fine and tamara does move out, pls gimme lucy and celina as roommates. that would be so cute????? like i'm just imagining them talking about their astrological signs and boys over dinner or hanging out in each other's rooms 😂
on a deeper level i'd love to see the relationship between these two get explored more because they have the potential to be such amazing friends!
we've already seen that they get along pretty well and in terms of where everyone is at in life, they're at a similar-ish place? at least with where the rest of the women we see on the show are — they're the closest to each other in age (at least lucy to celina), they don't have kids or are married, plus lucy could be the role model celina needs? as lucy came up as a rookie, she had nyla to look up to as a woman of color on the force who helped guide her - celina seems to be missing this. they also have childhoods and parental trauma to bond over lol.
thanks for pointing this out! ♡ both felt a little random like tamara asking lucy if it was a bad time to tell her about it when it seemed like she hadn't left her bed (or was going to) and also celina just bringing it up out of nowhere (unless i missed something which i could have bc my attention was not on their storyline lmao) that it would make a lot of sense if this is where they're headed and what they're setting them up for? bc i thought it was chenford moving in together but jk on that for now (rip) lol. like i remember the video but figured lisseth was just looking for melissa not that they could have possibly been filming a scene together in her apartment 👀

Feyre crying on Nesta spending is hilarious considering Night Court High Lady is illiterate and dont even receive formal education. She receives basic history and education on war but dont even understand how money, bank, economy work.
Perhaps nesta understand how it work and why she keep spending money there. Like exotic food on a cheap tavern is equivalent ordering sushi at McDonalds in Western country. You keep your expectation low and their premium menu is just there in case they do receive customer that afford it.
And Nesta help her father run his business after they get their money from tamlin. While Feyre crying on something she dont even undestand. And i bet the thing that truger her to cry is because Rhys shame her sister publicly
She's probably crying cause Rhys has been telling her how bad it is, how embarrassing it is etc etc because you're right, Feyre literally doesn't understand most of what her "job" is.
Nesta spending money, especially at a low income level, is doing more for Velaris than the High Lady. And because we've been shown Nesta actually understands economics quite well through her investment actions and role in rebuilding the fortune, it's not a leap to understand she might be doing it intentionally.
The writing does more to embarrass Feyre than people realise.
Sjm could easily throw in that Feyre is taking lessons or working under Mor - who ruled Velaris during Rhys' absence - to show us that Feyre has learnt or changed. Instead we get her accepting free property, making dumb excuses for why rehousing projects haven't begun and building a mansion in a post war city.
I just don't understand why SJM took the characters out of their respective trajectories. Some people got upset when I said this but I haven't changed my mind, Nesta should have been the one in politics and Feyre should have gotten the Valkyrie storyline.
As many problematic elements as there are in the whole concept of Illyria and their relationship with the NC, lets be honest, sjm and most of the fandom don't care so just from a story perspective, Feyre helping to empower and change Illyria, taking part in the Blood Rite and putting her life on the line for an Illyrian woman like Emerie, would have done wonders for her earning the HL title.
Not only would it be the natural progression of the girl who hunted, went through the trials and trained under Cassian, it would keep Feyre at the centre of the plot without making her a plot device the way the baby plot did.
Nesta's book didn't need to happen, SJM did nothing interesting or even good with her in ACOSF.
The Frost and Starlight novella could have been a Nesta novella with Nesta's role as emissary taking her to the continent, sorting out the Vassa story and facing the Queen to keep the fanbase fed with variety.
Silver Flame should have just put the series back on track by following Feyre and the beginning of the Illyrian revolution.
That's one way it could have gone. The second way is that the original trilogy should have swapped pov each book or had multiple povs from the start. But whenever I explain it this way I think it sounds like I am biased towards a certain ship.
