Kinkajou, holding up a piece of paper with an ink splatter on it: Tell me what you see on this paper.
Qibli: A camel!
Kinkajou: Okay. Yes, that's good.
Kinkajou, holding up a different paper: Now, what about this one?
Qibli: *dramatic gasp*
Qibli, thousand-yard stare: That reminds me of my neglectful mother pitting me against my older siblings and refusing to show even an iota of love or affection to me for my entire life.
Kinkajou:
Kinkajou, putting the papers down: I think we may have found the root of your problem.

I was watching the Clone Wars featurette about the Holocron arc and Dave talks about the scene where Bane threatens to kill Ahsoka. He says "we're seeing a dark side of Anakin, and in a very clear illustration of why Jedi should not have attachments, we see that attachment get exploited." So clearly at what point in time he understood the whole attachment thing. What happened?
Unlike Karen Traviss, I think Dave Filoni actually understands what "attachment" means, in Star Wars. Apparently, it's the Star Wars theme that he and George spoke the most about.
"The biggest area of the Force and the Jedi [that] George and I have gotten into discussing the whole deal with attachments. And, arguably, that's what Anakin whole life is hinged on, is this - like you've mentioned - he has a lot of attachments to Artoo and how how right or wrong is that? Is it that the Jedi have made themselves dispassionate, that they are actually deceived by the Sith and they fall apart?" - Dave Filoni, Rebel Force Radio, 2012
What I've noticed is that, while understanding the meaning of attachment... Filoni doesn't seem to agree that the Jedi embody the concept of compassion.
He has acknowledged sometimes that "attachment is bad" is the theme of Anakin's story (but question if it's really so bad, unlike Lucas who says it's understandable but bad) but disagrees that the Prequel Jedi represent the obvious counter-theme, "compassion is good."
If you read what Filoni says, he argues that:
The Jedi have lost their way, taken the "rid yourself of attachment" rule and pushed it to an extreme where they've rid themselves of any empathy and thus compassion. They've focused so much on being selfless that they've forgotten how to love.
All except for Qui-Gon, who is the only one that truly knows how to love without getting attached, to love selflessly.
And personally, that strikes me as a coping headcanon, a way of reconciling the theme and feeling the Jedi like Mace, Ki-Adi, even Yoda and Obi-Wan are stoic, unlikable and too different from Luke.
Sure, they're not perfect, but nowhere in the films is the Jedi's stance on love framed as "bad" by the narrative. The narrative agrees with their philosophy, and George echoes it.
In fact, among 772 collected George Lucas quotes, I've never seen him state that theme while adding the asterisk that "of course, the Jedi of the Prequels have forgotten how to be compassionate, except for Qui-Gon who was the true Jedi."
And of course he doesn't do that. Because doesn't that muddy the waters so much?
Supposing Qui-Gon truly is the only character that embodies the concept of "compassion"... doesn't killing him off in the first film confuse a targeted audience of children?
Bearing in mind that the Prequels are about how greed makes people and institutions become the very thing they swear to destroy, and Star Wars as a whole is about being selfless instead of selfish:
In one corner, we have Anakin and the Senate showing what you're not supposed to do.
In the other, you got Padmé, Shmi and the Jedi, showing you what you should do instead.
Simple. I can see a kid getting this (and I did). But according to Filoni, that second point is incorrect. Instead, it's:
In the other, we have... Qui-Gon, who is one of the first film's four protagonists that dies at the end, without openly stating anything about the trilogy's theme. Theoretically, there's the Jedi who state and address the theme, but they don't themselves embody it so they don't count. So really... in this corner we have nobody (?)
That seems overly complex, a whole lotta hoops to jump through. Doesn't make sense. But hey, good luck learning the lesson, kids.
So yeah, Dave Filoni gets what attachment means. He just doesn't think it's as bad as Lucas' films frame it as, and disagrees on the Jedi narratively embodying the concept of compassion.
And I think it's coping. It's connecting non-existent dots, Always Sunny-style, to justify not liking characters that weren't meant to be developed much, due to their calm, collected nature and secondary/tertiary role in the story.
Coping and coming up with headcanons are what any irritated Star Wars fan does when they're confronted with something they're unable to make sense of.
“I care because I passionately believe that important stories ought to make sense.” As well you should—and when a story does not, you apply that passion to finding a way to make it make sense. [...] When a rational and inquisitive mind is confronted by the engaging yet irrational, it often responds in this manner. This process is not usually appreciated by those undergoing it; the most common reaction is a deep irritation. But isn’t that always how pearls are formed?” - Don DeBrandt, Star Wars on Trial, 2006
Unless they choose to make documentaries and click-baity YouTube video where they decide to spew hate and get angry pointlessly. Which I'd argue is still worse.

Ask
Jaune Not from Remnant He's from louisiana usa and somehow wound up there. He now has to pretend he's always been there while being forced to become a huntsman Do not give up his secret. How does he solve the Is the grimm problem Easy redneck Engineering he makes a fucking tank.
I don't think tanks exist in Remnant Which is really weird cause you don't need Huntsman to operate them. And i'm pretty sure they could fuck up any grimm just about Like the main Canon could take out heavily armored opponents. The .50 bmg Takes out smaller ones.
I'm... not sure how to approach this one. Like, the premise is neat, but Jaune being from Louisiana is already a wild concept. By this logic, not only does Jaune not have aura, but likely never will, nor will he have a semblance. Not to mention that Jaune doesn't really strike me as the mechanical engineer type, granted his growing up in LA could change his personality just a tinge. Personally, if I was going to make Jaune from down that way, I'd make him a chef, whipping up some delicious rice and shrimp into a gumbo, though I'm not really an expert on what does on in the southeastern US.
As for the presence of tanks, I will agree that it is odd, but one thing to consider is that RWBY has kind of evolved past tanks. Maybe in the Great War there were tanks, but in the current era with hard-light shields, automaton soldiers, and walking mechs, RWBY has probably gone Metal Gear and evolved their weaponry to an era beyond fuel and low-impact bullets. It kinda makes sense since you've got huge, armored Grimm running around, like Ursa, Beowolves, and Beringels. Heck, the armor might even be too thick for mortar fire.
But yeah, this is a neat AU, though it might need a little tweaking. Jaune being a redneck engineer from Louisiana and building tanks seems just a WEE BIT out of character for him. Now, if it was Ruby, that'd be different, since she's already a gun nut.
Though, I remember a couple stories from this ask. The first one that comes to mind is an OLD RWBY AU idea I had about Jaune being an investigative journalist lost in the bayou with Ruby (Bayou AU). Another was an incorrect quote from Far Cry 6, which led a little bit into Jaune and Ruby making plans for a tank he made a long time ago. I dunno, those are just some ideas I had.

Debunking Misconceptions about Darth Vader's Power Level
This is a continuation of my main post proving that Darth Vader is the most powerful Sith in Star Wars Canon. Please check out my original post before reading.
“Darth Vader’s being a cyborg prevented him from reaching his Force potential”
Incorrect. Darth Vader’s suit was not a hindrance to his power. If anything, it made him stronger in the dark side.
These quotes from Lords of the Sith say so.
The armour separated him from the galaxy, from everyone, made him singular, freed him from the needs of the flesh, the concerns of the body that once had plagued him, and allowed him to focus solely on his relationship to the Force.
He stared at his reflection a long time. His injuries had deformed his body, left it broken, but they’d perfected his spirit, strengthening his connection to the Force.
The loss of his limbs causing him to lose potential doesn't even make any sense. Midichlorians are measured per cell, not per body. Vader may have lost his limbs, but the rest of the body is still just as powerful.
Tumblr media
If you go by the logic that more biomass means means more powerful, Yoda should be the weakest Jedi on the Jedi Council since he has the least biomass of any of them. It doesn't make sense.
Additionally, when his suit was shut of by its creator, Cylo in the Darth Vader (2015) comic series, Vader used the Force to move his body so he could kill him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even with his suit deactivated, Darth Vader is still a lethal opponent.
So no, Vader's suit was not a hindrance to his Force power.
“Vader’s suit was intentionally designed by Sidious to make him weaker and to be painful”
This is another thing that is often assumed by people because it was true in Legends, but it simply isn’t true in Canon.
In Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith (2017), immediately after Vader gets his suit, Sidious asks Vader what he thinks of his suit. He doesn’t begrudgingly say he hates it. Instead, he just says:
Tumblr media
Later in the series, after completing the creation of his new red lightsaber, which he had to kill a Jedi to do, its shown that Vader fixes his own suit to his liking, and Sidious even approves and encourages this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vader even gets pissed off at the idea of anyone else fixing his armor. Unlike in Legends, he has to repair his armor himself.
In Canon, Sidious didn’t want Vader to be held back. He never intentionally handicaps him, and is always disappointed whenever Vader shows any sign of loss in power. This is congruent with his line in Revenge of the Sith when he boasts to Yoda that Vader will be more powerful then either of them: he says it in pride, not as if it will be a problem.
This makes sense. He wants an incredibly strong apprentice to be his enforcer, and has complete confidence Vader won't betray him, both because he has emotionally manipulated him to be psychologically dependent on him, as well as having several contingencies.
This also makes sense since we’re talking about a character to was able to build a protocol droid at the age of 9. He shouldn’t have a problem fixing his suit himself.
“Vader’s suit made him a slow/clunky/inept saber duelist”
Not only is this contradicted by this Top 5 list...
Tumblr media
...but it also contradicts the movies itself.
I mean, look at him go (it's time-coded).
There's also this moment, in the comics...
Tumblr media
...and this moment in the Lords of the Sith novel.
With preternatural speed the Emperor drew, ignited, and slashed at the girl with his lightsaber, but Vader had sensed his Master’s intent and moved with greater speed, igniting his own blade and intercepting his Master’s blow before it could land.
This debunks the notion that Vader didn’t have the speed to keep up with Sidious (or other fast moving lightsaber duelists like Yoda).
If Vader was such a slow and terrible duelist who was a shadow of his former self, how would he have enforced Sidious’ will? How would he “hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights” as Obi-Wan says in A New Hope? And why would Yoda and Obi-Wan need to hide in exile?
"Vader lost to Obi-Wan in Obi-Wan Kenobi so you're wrong"
Vader was conflicted, as Sidious outright states in the next scene.
Tumblr media
Initially, Vader was stronger and was beating Obi-Wan...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
..but he was caught off guard by Obi-Wan's newfound confidence and power boost. His emotional conflict also weakened him, and once Obi-Wan damaged his suit enough so he couldn't breath properly anymore, it was basically over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Credit to @david-talks-sw for the gifs; check out his blog.
While I do have my issues with Vader losing to Obi-Wan in the series, I'm glad they at least gave an in-universe explanation so Obi-Wan isn't more powerful then Vader, and thus also Sidious, by default, thus destroying the entire original trilogy.
"Sidious wrecked Vader in Issue #6 of the 2020 comics so you’re wrong"
Yes, in this instance, Sidious was more powerful then Vader. However, saying this proves Sidious is generally more powerful is to completely ignore the context in which this happens.
Vader's quest to find who raised his son after The Empire Strikes Back brought back memories of his mother and Padme, including Vader watching a recording showing Padme still believed there to be good in him.
This created a lot of conflict in Vader, and he began wallowing in sadness and grief instead of being fueled by anger and hatred.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sidious outright says this.
Tumblr media
Here, he tells his apprentice that he needs to return to the former power, even acknowledging Vader’s once “unimaginable strength”.
Tumblr media
The whole point of this is that Sidious was trying to get old Vader back, and that he shouldn't be able to do this to him.
Sidious easily beats Vader here because he lost himself. This does not prove he was always weaker then him.
“Sidious wrecked Vader in Issue #11 of the 2020 comics so you’re wrong”
I'll definitely concede that in this case, it's more debatable as to whether Sidious is more powerful then Vader.
Sidious avoids a direct confrontation with Vader, instead choosing to lure him into a series of enemies, including an army of Sith cultists and a literal weaponized kyber crystal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's worth noting that Vader still isn't in his prime here. After going through many difficult opponents, from a bounty hunter to a giant monster, without the aid of the Force, Vader is tired and literally held together by scraps. And yet he still keeps going, fueled by his rage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sidious activates the kyber crystal, Vader is being harmed, while Sidious feels... nothing. He just stands in front of it.
Tumblr media
Is Sidious now more powerful then Vader? Or is this just because Vader is weak because of everything he's been through and still has some conflict within him?
We can't really say for sure. At this point, it's up to interpretation.
The artist of the comic series did say that Vader is more powerful...
Tumblr media
...but this is less of a Word of God statement and more of a Word of Saint Paul statement.
Regardless, it does not preclude Vader being more powerful prior to this comic series. Which is why I always say that Vader from ROTS up to ESB is the most powerful Sith, because after ESB, whether he's actually more powerful then Sidious is debatable.

American generals wouldn't like what they see. They realize that Sergey Surovikin is competent and has enough authority to impose his views on Vladimir Putin, even when those come with political cost. This would mean that Vladimir Putin wouldn't let matters of personal prestige to get in way of operations anymore. With an effective and free... [1-6]
General to act against them, they know his predecessors' mistakes won't get repeated. The campaign to destroy Ukrainian infrastructures is rapidly progressing with 40% of Ukrainian energy system getting destroyed or neutralized within a month. Vladimir Putin initially wanted to spare Ukraine and its people to focus on Kiev's oppressive government and its neo-nazi units... [2-6]
While Sergey Surovikin has imposed a war of annihilation, which will impose the true cost on the population of its blindly support for Kiev. Yesterday, Mark Milley suddenly appeared to talk of peace and the impossibility for both sides to win on the ground - These statements are intended to save time. Despite CIA's intense propaganda, Kiev is... [3-6]
Axed on the ground. For one Russian soldier lost, Kiev sacrifices seven. Currently, Kiev has eight hundred thousand soldiers on the front and couldn't hope to mobilize more. With such a rate of destruction of troops, this would become impossible to replace experienced officers and soldiers. The average quality of forces is inexorably declining, weakening the front... [4-6]
And opening the way to increasingly bloody offensives. Also, millions of Ukrainians have already fled. With the destruction of the energy system, many more millions will follow. Without a break, Kievan forces will face a severe crisis in the front and in the rear with the likelihood of significant ground losses. The peace talks mentioned by American officials... [5-6]
Are based on this reality and aim to temporize for replenishing Kiev's reserves. Washington's goal is to exhaust Moscow but what happens is its own pawn's exhaustion. Other countries will soon have to be thrown into the conflict against Moscow in a more frontal way, as the president of France implied in yesterday's speech. [6-6]
Look here everyone, this is unrefined cope, nearly fresh from the fields. The Kherson retreat has probably prompted a strategic release even of unprocessed cope. But you know what, I feel like being nice today, so let's debunk these points, one by one.
"They realize that Sergey Surovikin is competent."
That's debatable. The quotes about his competence have always stressed that he is considered competent by the standards of the Russian army. Before his appointment as supreme commander, he was primarily in charge of the Southern Grouping of Forces, which while it succeeded in taking Kherson, completely failed in its attack toward Mykolaiv and repeatedly left its air fleet vulnerable to bombardment on the ground. Kherson has been abandoned by the Russian Army, the defense of which fell primarily on Surovikin's command.
Moreover, his military career and overall strategy (mass bombing of civilian infrastructure) isn't really going to help him well. Terror bombing has so far been unable to generate calls for surrender within Ukraine. Russia is running low of precision-guided munitions and doesn't have the industrial base or components to make more at scale. Russia made significant strategic errors in overwhelmingly using Iskander and Kalibr missiles in an attempt to demonstrate their strike capability to Western observers in an attempt to prove their legitimacy. Without these, precision strikes to starve Ukrainian armies of their supplies simply will not be very effective - unguided munitions are going to wear out artillery tubes and Russian ALCM's like the Killjoy are simply too prone to failure and too inaccurate to do the job.
"40% of Ukrainian energy system getting destroyed or neutralized within a month"
This is an incorrect interpretation of the estimates, which I've found here. The actual report says that 35-40% have suffered damage or destruction, not destruction or neutralization.
"Vladimir Putin initially wanted to spare Ukraine and its people to focus on Kiev's oppressive government and its neo-nazi units..."
This is a common refrain among apologists for Russia's war. It's a transparent lie, an attempt to tie this war to the Great Patriotic War and the Soviet fight against the Nazis.
The supposed "oppression" of the Ukrainian government, either in Crimea or the Donbas, is laughably easy to disprove. The "Crimean protest" to join Russia as they were an ethnically Russian province was wholly manufactured by Russia only after they invaded, as evidenced by tapes with Glazyev, Putin's advisor, discussing it. Even as late as 2014, Crimea, the most ethnically Russian province in Ukraine, did not have majority support for uniting Ukraine and Russia into a single state, either through annexation or the Union State model that exists in Belarus. Since this sentiment didn't exist naturally, Russia used irregular forces (the "Little Green Men") to create a fictitious organic separatist movement. As early as April 2014, Putin admitted that there were Russian military operatives in Ukraine. These irregulars, however, were unable to stop the plundered and ineffective Ukrainian army from attacking their positions, and so in August the Russians had sent in regular army forces to compel Kyiv to sue for peace (the Minsk Accords). So rather than this "shelling of ethnic Russians in the Donbas," this was a response to a deniable asset war initiated by Russia.
The far-right in Ukraine has actually suffered significantly in terms of popularity from its high-water mark in 2012, where far-right parties had ~10.4% representation in government. In 2014 that number had fallen to 6%, and then to 2% in 2019. So in terms of handling "Neo-Nazi" units, it seemed that Ukraine was actually doing just fine on its own marginalizing and eliminating the influence of the far-right in Ukraine. This is in stark contrast to Russia, which has significant far-right representation in the military such as the Russian Imperial Legion which openly espouses white supremacist and ethnic cleansing rhetoric, along with complaints from ethnic minorities in Russia who suffer from political repression and disproportionately make up members of the "mobiks" to spare ethnic Russians from dying on the front lines, just ask the Crimean Tatars or Dagestanis. The deputy chief of Wagner, Utkin, actually has for-real Nazi eagle tattoos on his collar. It's unsurprising, then, that Russia has turned to "de-Satanizing" Ukraine, these are clumsy, random ad hominem attacks to justify naked imperial aggression.
"While Sergey Surovikin has imposed a war of annihilation"
It's already been a war of annihilation - Mariupol suffered extensive damages and casualties, there have been numerous categorical atrocities such as those in Bucha. Russian military doctrine is cavalier with civilian casualties to begin with, in part due to terror being a weapon of military doctrine and in part due to poor accuracy of weapons systems due to shoddy design, and this has been evidently true since the Syrian campaign.
"Yesterday, Mark Milley suddenly appeared to talk of peace and the impossibility for both sides to win on the ground"
Re-read his statement. He says that "there has to be a mutual recognition that a military victory is probably, in the true sense of the word is maybe not achievable through military means" in order to "turn to other means" and seize "a window of opportunity for negotiation." He has not explicitly said that Ukraine cannot achieve victory on the ground, it's that in order for a peace conference, both sides must come to the conclusion that battle will not achieve their goals, similar to the response I made earlier.
"Despite CIA's intense propaganda, Kiev is...Axed on the ground."
Last I checked, it's Russians losing territory, not the Ukrainians, or did you not see the latest battle maps? And if what I'm reading from Russian Telegram is any indication, the Kherson retreat isn't going well.
"For one Russian soldier lost, Kiev sacrifices seven"
This one is particularly funny. Not even the Russians claim this high of a casualty count. According to Russia's own statements (which no honest observer believes), Russia has lost 10,065 troops among the VSRF, Wagner, and forces of the Luhansk and Donetsk DPR, while they claim 61,207 Ukrainian KIA, that’s six-to-one, not seven.
"The average quality of forces is inexorably declining"
This doesn't seem to be the case actually. Ukraine is still capable of multi-theater operations and their largest operational constraint doesn't appear to be manpower or expertise, but materiel. You don't see calls for more volunteers or foreign fighters, but equipment. Contrast, Russia has severe problems with troop quality, including open-source reports of rampant drunkenness and disorder, and this is only getting worse with the arrival of the mobiks.
"Also, millions of Ukrainians have already fled."
According to most estimates, as many as one-ninth of Russians have fled to avoid conscription. Comparatively speaking, while there are Ukrainian refugees and IDP's, manpower does not appear to be the sustainment concern.
“Other countries will soon have to be thrown into the conflict against Moscow in a more frontal way, as the president of France implied in yesterday's speech.”
Macron is looking to strengthen the military and make an independent European one, that’s been a goal of his for a while (and a pipe dream). Tell me, who’s going to be thrown in there? Frankly speaking, the Russian army is so incompetent that it would probably lose a war against Poland and the Baltics.
So there you have it folks, we've got the full gamut from Surovikin becoming the next Steiner, out-and-out lies about casualty counts, and the good old-fashioned Ukraine Nazis myth. Have fun with it!
Thanks for the contribution, Vatnik. You just made my day with how hard you're trying to cope.

Medea: Goodnight tree.
Medea: Goodnight ghosts that only I can see.
Medea: What doesn't kill me should run, because now I'm fucking pissed.
Medea: The only thing keeping me from running away and hiding from society for the rest of my life is spite. I could disappear forever, but there are some bitches whose downfalls I have yet to witness, and I wanna be around when that happens.
Medea: I keep a picture of all of us in my wallet. Whenever I face difficulties, I take it out and stare at the picture.
Adeuce: Awwww-
Medea: And I tell myself "If I can deal with these idiots, then I can deal with anything."
Adeuce: Oh.

This takes place during the second half of "Stardust Crusaders" after the N'Doul arc and before the Alessi and Mariah arcs. A few days before that however, Medea was tending to her duties at DIO's Mansion as per usual, still recovering from her previous encounter with the Crusaders in Saudi Arabia and initially embarrassed that she failed him again. She then over hears him and the 9 Glory gods in the worship room, preparing to take on the Crusaders in their respective territories in Egypt.
After everyone has left, DIO keeps Oingo and Boingo behind and catches Medea by the door, telling her that he has received Tohth's "unfortunate" prophecy that N'Doul would fail but Kakyoin would be injured, she's also shown to be following the brothers, meaning that she'll be be accompanying the two to Aswan. DIO warns her that this is her last chance to redeem herself and that she must bring back Joseph's blood to him, returning to Cairo empty-handed is no longer an option, although shocked that DIO had told her this, she understood his warning and accepts the task.
Fast forward to a few days later, she was chilling at a cafe in Aswan when she sees the Crusaders carrying an injured Kakyoin to the hospital as predicted. She enters the hospital and hides, waiting for the opportunity to strike. Once the coast was clear, she sneaks into the room where Kakyoin is, she plans to use the poison "Drunken Lullaby" on him in his sleep. But when she got close, she felt like she stepped on a "cord", causing Emerald barrier to barrage her from all directions and incapacitate her, breaking her poison bottle in the process.
She discovers that Kakyoin wasn't asleep at all and he knew she'd show up at some point so he had set up a trap for her, then he mentions that even if the Emerald Splash didn't work on her, the noise from the Emeralds would've alerted the Crusaders anyways, and right on cue they arrived to see the commotion. Jotaro expresses annoyance with her, asking if she knows when to quit. Medea, in a last ditch attempt tells him that Kakyoin knocking the poison out of her hand was a mistake, since "Drunken Lullaby" has now surrounded them in a circle and will kill them all if they attempt to move.
She asks Jotaro if he had any last words to say before she orders [Flogging Molly] to consume them, he says he's got a couple before doing Polnareff's hand gestures that reads "Pantsu Maru Mie"(Translation: I can see your panties), telling her that the whole world can see it. Confused by what he meant, she realizes that her underwear is sticking out of her jeans and covers them in embarrassment, this distracted her long enough for [Star Platinum] to punch her out the window before [Flogging Molly] caught the window sill.
When she climbed back up, Jotaro picks her up and throws her over his shoulder, telling her that he's just about had it with her meddling and that he's got plans for her.
The Crusaders bid Kakyoin a farewell and get well soon as they leave the hospital with Medea in toll, all the while she's kicking and screaming for Jotaro to let her go, even threatening to have [Flogging Molly] stab his back before being held down by [Star Platinum].
Meanwhile Polnareff jokes that she's their friend now and they're having soft tacos later. This event will act as the starting point of Medea working for the Crusaders
