Belladonna Nightshade - Halloween Dark Fairy

Base Doll: G3 Twyla from Monster High Clothing Pattern: Dollightful's Asymmetrical Dress (read to the end, I have notes about this)

Happy Halloween everyone! Since becoming a doll customizer, my Halloween dolls are usually related to my favorite indie horror game, Bendy and the Ink Machine. However, seeing as I've completed two Bendy dolls already this year, I felt it was time to give myself a break and try something a bit different. My friends over in DollyAnna's Discord server wanted to do a collaboration, so we decided to all make some Dark Fairies for Halloween!

Belladonna Nightshade is a mischievous fae that loves to play tricks and tempt mortals. That said, she's easily bribed with a sweet treat or two, and will usually let you be if you have a little candy or pastry to give her. I haven't decided what I want to do with her yet in terms of a story, but there is a part of me that would love to have her in my Equinox story.

When you consider the fact that most of my other Halloween dolls are black and yellow, it's no surprise she ended up super colorful. XD Would you believe this is my first doll with rainbow hair? Yeah neither did I, but she is! Part of my style is having really colorful and vibrant dolls, it surprises a lot of people that I've never done a rainbow before, but honestly? I'm glad to have finally tackled one! I'm also glad to have worked with another G3. Twyla is very near and dear to my heart, and I was so psyched to work with her mold! You can't see it in any of these photos, but I used glow in the dark varnish on her eyes and neon markings, so that her eyes still glow like the original. I will say, this doll has a lot more acrylic paint than my others, just by the nature of I don't have any pencils in neon colors. It was nice to get the practice in, I feel more confident than I did before in my brush skills. It was also nice to have a doll with dark scleras for a change! I haven't done that since I made Dreamer, it's surprisingly fun to draw on!

I was inspired by a LOT of different things with this one, and I went back and forth on my concepts a lot. Black light skeleton make-up, butterflies, fairies with non-traditional wings, candy, jesters, these were all sources of inspiration, and I think most obviously of all, Dollightful herself. This wasn't intentional, but I ended up using a doll of one of her favorite characters, with a lot of saturated colors which we know she loves, and even her dress pattern! I've been wanting to make this garment for ages, and finally I had a reason to try it!

So those of you who know how this pattern works are probably asking "Kat, how did you make this fit a G3? This dress is supposed to fit a G1 Monster High doll!" Believe it or not, Requiem Arts has a method for easily adjusting G1 patterns to fit G3 bodies. It's as simple as scaling a pattern up to 104% and printing it that way. It's meant for her garments, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work for other doll patterns. So I tried it with Katherine's dress, and I'm happy to say it worked out just fine! I think I probably should have adjusted a bit more on the skirt though. This outfit is essentially two pieces, and the skirt with all the ruffles is a little tight around the booty, it could have used a little more sizing up. So if you own this pattern and want to try this yourself, do keep that in mind!

Do let me know what you think! I had so much fun working on Belladonna, she's so vibrant and fun, I wanna try more fairies like her someday. I also need to try using props more. I got these pumpkins and hay bales on sale, and it was fun using them to craft a little temporary set for photos.

Saturn’s Free CSP Brush Recommendations, CS Asset Store Edition

I may sell brushes now, but I still love me some free brushes & love to share them with people. These are a bunch of cool brushes made by other people that you can use to build up a nice library of tools without having to spend any cash on, perfect if you’re new to CSP or are on a budget. If you do download these, be sure to like them & give some love to the artist if you enjoy them. :D

How to find: type in the Content ID or Ctrl/Command + C & P (copy and paste shortcuts) into the Clip Studio asset store on the Clip Studio application. I’ll add a link as a preview but copying & pasting the content ID is easiest. I have automatic translation ON, so sorry if you read some weird names. The Old Default Assets - 1842027 & 1841759 These aren’t pictured, but if you ever see an older tutorial or video showcasing some default brushes you never had, it’s because CSP reworked its default tools around version 1.9. Fortunately they rerelased them so anyone can redownload them. The old ones are still good to use, they’re just not included.

Thiccpaint - 1707517 Never leave home without it. I riot if I don’t have them on my computer.. They have the right combination of texture, shape, & blend with great handling and great variety.

Icyannyou's Momo Sets - user:Icyannyou Super cute packs that give a lovely painterly look. The Storybook pack is fantastic, and even if you don't draw cute you can still use these painters & blenders to give your artwork character. :)

Thick Coating Brush Set - 1683127 I like these for background work, but it's a big pack of thick textured painters with good handling & neat effects.

Marredae's Brushes - user:Marredae This artist has a knack for textured brushes. Very high rec, fantastic library of wet & dry painting/rendering tools.

Roro Oil - 1820057 Rompi is another user I enjoy the stuff of, and I'll recommend a few more brushes from them in other categories by the time this post is done. Check 'em out!

Suika chalk - 1760304 Very useful rough chalk. Sometimes, that’s all you need!

Sprongle - 1935694 A simple round brush with a nice rough tip. Slightly rough without being too rough, great for quick paintings.

Johnnie halloween pack & Brokenhearted brushes... - 1876075 & 1938786, user:EnjieLemon EnjieLemon has some nice brushes in general, but some are paid for. Still worth checking out due to their cheap clippy price (and clippy can be obtained for free). The Brokenhearted brushes have a nice texture. The Halloween pack includes a cute pumpkin stamp along with some easy to use chalk, oil, & watercolor brushes. Compact and easy to use!

“Watercolor marker and texture set” - 1682349 There's a reason this set is one of the most downloaded on the asset store. It's one of the best looking watercolor replicas out there, and even if you don't use the brushes, you can likely still find a use for the textures. Great for soft coloring.

Grunge Brushes, Soft | Heavy | Complex Brushes & Xenomorphius' stuff in general - user:xenomorphius Xeno drops some cool natural looking brushes out every so often for painting, inking, and dry media. Please check 'em out! The grunge brushes create a fun, grungy look like it says on the pack, & the soft/heavy/complex set can be used for painting as well as lining.

Oil-h5 trial - 1976418 These brushes are hard to explain. They work with the dual brush setting, & push around a layer of paint on top of your regular paint, creating a cool, streaky look. They're a hidden gem.

MYNQZO brushes - 1993875 A pretty darn good set for painting. I really love rough brush 2, it's great for sketching & rendering.

“Pencil-like Brush for Lineart” - 1692270 Ok this is kind of a weird way to recommend something. It's SUPPOSED to be a pencil but I use it like a paintbrush with the opacity & density on pressure control, & another copy with blending turned on. Whatever you use it for, you're sure to get a good result!

Grease pencil/china marker - 1774978 Chunky brush for chunky sketching needs.

Muda muda muda - 1715496 A pretty darn good dark pencil.

REDSketch soft - 1907313 just a nice sketcher! Good for shading too.

MUGZ BRUSH - 1861032 A set of dry chalk & brushes. Gives a fun messy look when used!

T Spade Pencil - 1769208 A pencil that looks great for lineart as well as sketches. Good taper.

Magipencil 2 - 1755940 Utterly good for textured and smooth lineart. These pens get me. Can’t recommend them enough. :)

G-pen 6 - 1767809 A generic name but a good Gpen with character. Organic without sacrificing too much smoothness.

"Flat thick pen" - 1826131 I call it the card games pen. I think you can see why. Solid at high pressure, a little bit of texture at low pressure, and pretty great for sharp angles.

Haggiben_Lineart_Color - 1770988 A nice triangle liner.

Gabu Pen - 1894713 Very slightly rough pen on one side, another nice triangle-like liner.

Aeridus - user:Aeridis All 3 of their pens give a nice result.

Pilot Pen - 1895049 A great IRL brush now a digital one!

Fude set - 1726964 & 1759205 Heavy, beautiful ink! The creator has some more good ink pens too, take a look. :D

Dimi - 1763877 It's a ga,l with a knife and a nice calligraphy pen. Can't ask for more. Turn on >particles "change with brush size" in settings to keep the shape without chaning.

New Cali A nice set of Calligraphy brushes. They have smooth transitions between big and small.

Blend, Fill, & Erase

Noise and texture blur - 1842730 If you want a more painterly look to your blur, get these! They said they're supposed to be turned from free to paid, but the artist hasn't come back and done it yet. Will they do it? I'm not sure. :0

Textured Blending & Blurs - 1904941 & 1971444 They're actually made by me, my apologies, but it's hard to find textured blenders by themselves. Most are included in a set or are something you have to pay for, so I released a few free stand alone ones due to it. Overlap Hatching (…"a texan"???) - 1712720 One of the most popular Clip Studio Hatchers for a reason, easy to apply hatchers that you can just keep adding to for a sparse or dense look.

The last of my Anastasia trilogy :3 but if you've had an eye on my stories you already know there's more to come ;)

This one is very dear to me as she's technically also the very first Anastasia I did back in 2016. I used the exact same doll for the new one, removing the old paint and letting her glow up. I don't dislike the old doll but I guess you can definitely see the improvement of quality over the years, both in the paint and hair job as well as the photography. I actually dyed the hair of the 2016 one with acrylics and apparently I wasn't in the possession of gem stones for the choker necklace back then :D

Answering for Ibis pt5

21.. What is your oc’s stamina like? Would they be able to run a marathon, or not run at all? What about walking/another physical activity? How are they with exercise in general?

Ah yes, so again, vampire means he has more stamina and can run more than the average human. Now he can thank his brother, an actual track and field champion, for training him so now he more physical condition than even the average vampire.

22.. How long can your oc stay focused on one task before they get bored? Do they constantly have to switch things up or do they hyperfocus? What sort of things is it the opposite for?

If its something he likes he can focus for a long time, bordering on hyperfocus. Like when he gets into alchemy and potion making. He will not focus for boring stuff like homework, good thing he doesn't need to do that anymore.

23.. What is the most annoying sound to your oc? What’s the most pleasant? Is there any reason?

"IBIS!!!!!!" since it means he's about to get in trouble lol

As for more pleasant, he won't deny he likes moans from his partners. But on a more regular note, bubbles brewing from a cauldron would be his favorite background sound.

24.. What smells bring back specific memories to your oc? What are those memories like?

Oh many! He thinks of past birthdays when he smells pumpkin pies, and of fall festivals in his hometown. Pot in general tends to make him think of his friends and hanging out with them, but specific ones he's made obviously reminds him of when he either created them or used them for the first time. There's also Taia's perfume, he hasn't been with anyone else that wears it so he immediately thinks of her. Popcorn reminds him of his sisters, Ari because she used to work in the movie theater and would come back smelling like it, and Ash from all the movie nights they did. There's also a particular brand of jerky that reminds him of Ari/her boyfriend since he liked it a lot and her room would end up smelling like it often. Metal burning reminds him of his brother Benny from him thinkering in his room. Paint (acrylic) reminds him of his parents. I could go on…

25.. How jumpy or easily spooked is your oc? Do they have a fight or flight reflex to being startled, or are they never startled at all?

Currently, not too much, around average. His vampiric hearing lets him hear people approaching more than usual so it's harder to startle him in that sense. He still can get startled in which case he'd just well, react like anyone else getting startled.

For day 7: Ari and his girl do a Instagram live of them painting pumpkins that they vlogged picking last week and everyone gushed over them. Plus how overprotective Ari is. He wouldn’t let her carve them because he’s scared she might cut herself so they settled on painting them.

Halloween countdown day 7 — paint your pumpkin

“I’m not an artist, so give me some credit.” You speak into the camera with a grin, your pumpkin set before you and your hair pulled back out of your face, held secure by a headband.

“If you were with us last week, we went to a pumpkin patch and picked up these monstrosities by a local farm-“ you directed the camera toward the massive pumpkins laying nearby, and then aimed the camera toward Ari.

“-and you burned your tongue on cider because you wouldn’t wait until it cooled.” Ari quipped with a half-smirk.

“-and instead of carving our pumpkins we’re painting them because someone-“

“I don’t want you getting hurt.” Ari interiors you to soothingly state his reasoning with charm and affection. “I’d hate to see you hurt.”

His comment had produced a flurry of comments and hearts from the followers viewing your live, most of them gushing over Ari and his protectiveness. It seems that Ari had built himself his own fan base among your followers, which you couldn’t have been happier about.

“So we’re going to paint our pumpkins, and have a friendly bet about who’s pumpkin is better in the end.” You turned your pumpkin around to face the camera, a small little smiled face painted on with black acrylic.

“And you get to vote.” Ari added, using your moment of distraction to steal a paint brush from you then dipped it into his own colour pots.

“Winner of this bet gets to decide the others costumes. So when I win, Ari…” you side eyed him and snort under your breath, some kind of funny and twisted thought going through your head. “…can expect to be some classic Disney princess.”

“I’ve seen your art skills, princess.” Ari tapped his brush against the pumpkin, creating texture. “I think I’m gonna be in the lead.”

“In so many ways.” Your preened against him and melted into the kiss, wishing it wouldn’t have ended when he pulled away.

“If I win, for those wondering,” Ari state while outlining a figure on his pumpkin, “princess is gonna be Morticia Adams.”

“That’s not a punishment, Ari. Morticia is a perfect character.”

“If I want to punish you princess, I won’t be using a costume.” Ari spoke with honesty and hunger, sending the comments wild again.

“Ari!” You scolded him and smacked his shoulder, heat afflicting you between your thighs. “You can’t say things like that.”

“Better keep up, princess. I’m half done.” Ari teased as he smirked and winked at the camera.

My entry for the #trekellpets2022 competition! I just had to paint my cute autumn pumpkin halloween snakey baby. 🎃💜 I wanted to do like a folk art style with a pattern that matched his color pattern. His orange bands always reminded me of pumpkins. It might look simple but I think this was the most difficult and involved the most planning of any art I've ever made. Acrylic gouache on wood panel. I need better detail brushes!! It was a struggle but I'm happy with it…although now I wish I'd done a ton of things differently haha. Such is the curse of the 'finished' painting. Also! Getting a good photo with accurate colors is SO hard. Hrissock: reading (arcane texts/scientific journals), collecting weird/mysterious magic items, antiquing (especially for magic items/rare books), tax evasion, long walks (docks are especially good for looking at ships)

Rahifa: reading (romance/adventure novels), painting (acrylic landscapes), photography (also landscapes), target practice, tinkering (she likes taking things apart to see how they work--mechanical things only, no electronics or magic items--cameras are a favorite)

Euphemia: antiquing (she mostly looks for small cute collectibles/figurines and vintage jewelry), journaling (she has a huge collection of pens, colored ink, and stickers), nail art (mostly on Loor, but occasionally on Qana and Hrissock)

Loor: literally anything social (going to bars, people watching, etc.), spending time with friends/dates doing whatever they want to do (they'll take walks or go antiquing with Euphemia and Hrissock, cheer on Rahifa at the shooting range, spar with Qana, etc.), cooking, Qana is trying to get them into embroidery but they're still very new to it

Qana: embroidery, jewelry making (Euphemia always looks for old buttons or beads for her when out antiquing), reading (mostly religious texts for study, though she's gotten into adventure novels via Rahifa), physical training

Pumpkin: just tressym things (sleeping, chasing mice and birds, laying in the sun, wandering aimlessly, getting into places she shouldn't, sneaking up on Hrissock to try and scare them)

Cassandra: jewelry making (she makes her own), journaling (she's more practical and less whimsical about it than Euphemia is--it's a record and it should be accurate and legible), reading (occult tomes, especially about curses--she's trying to break one), stargazing

Fresia: reading (scientific journals, tabloids), stargazing, theorizing about the workings of the universe (yes, she has a corkboard), parallel play (she's not very social so she likes spending quiet time with the few friends she does have)

My friend handed me a pumpkin and asked me to paint it like a minion so I did. I never got in to those movies but this thing makes me laugh when I look at it. Painting pumpkins is fun. You should try it. I used acrylic paint and did a white under painting before adding color.

i am an esfj, 2w1, and the cutest little pumpkin around. i have short, curly red hair and look generally like the stereotype of what people imagine leprechauns looking like. my fashion sense is closer to mondstadt’s, but v flowy and a mix of cottagecore and princesscore.

I am super creative, especially when it comes to dance. i love ballet specifically! but I also like painting with acrylics. books are better than people (n u can fight me on that).

your highness, I know he is not even released yet but I must pair you with the harbinger Pantalone!

Not only do I just headcannon as this man so incredibly extra but also he has a refined sense of taste for theatre and fashion. With his position as treasurer he probably has quite the accumulation of personal wealth, so he simply just has a taste for the finer things in life and a specific preference for those two in particular. Pantalone just seems like the kind of man who would develop very refined but intense passions. He is also just a real perfectionist and admires when people can meet his oh-so high standards and that can bleed into affection if given time to connect. I feel he would openly compliment your style for it's cute but comfortable nature, even ask for the influences before he just chats with you long enough to realize he would very much like to speak with you again very soon. Very meet-cute despite his position as a future villain in the game but I just think he is a real gentleman like that.

Also, with that affinity for the theatre I mentioned? Yeah, that includes things such as dance, and he would love to see you preform or simply take you to see a show. Dates with Pantalone are elaborate and almost an event with how much he has planned, being spoiled would be standard when it came to going out on dates with him. Though that is mostly just because when he is not taking you out to see the latest ballet performance, helping get you a new outfit perfectly tailored to your taste, or taking you to the finest restaurants Schenznya he is, a very busy man.

A crowded schedule would not mean Pantalone is a neglectful partner though, no no no. He is quite the opposite when he is not busy with all the tasks left to him. Not only would simple quality time be a must at every chance he would get when he may only be available for a short few hours before going back to his duties as a harbinger. He would also speak such sweet praises for your work no matter what it is. The man does not praise just anyone, but you're a special exception, those he loves and admires will simply have to hear his praises for all they do, as long as they keep up the hard work of course.
