hey fellas so @boyswillbeboxes and I have been cooking a fun concept for a few days and I thought I'd share it with you along with some Images I doodled. the post we're talking about at first is this one right here but if u don't feel like looking at it tl;dr its kim glaring at jean and being possessive of Harry. synopsis under the readmore! tws for suicide baiting and suicidal actions
rat: THAT FUCKIN COMIC WITH KIM GIVING JEAN THE SIDE EYE I'M SCREAMING
GET HIS ASS KIM
me: DLFJFKFKF IM SO GLAD U SAW ITTTT
rat: I JUST DID
me: thought of u makin that
rat: 😭😭
I'm so honored
God lmao you're right tho
Listen listen if Harry fails the check for the karaoke and Jean is there and doesn't clap for Harry, Kim swears a VENDETTA
That's CANON
He brings it up at the tribunal he's so petty
The second one
He says some really backhanded shit I don't remember the specifics but he's basically like Enemy Sighted
me: he took one look at this man and went "is anyone gonna become harshly overprotective of that" and didn't wait for an answer
rat: NO FOR REAL
IT'S INSANE HOW QUICKLY KIM WOULD DIE FOR HARRY
I LOVE IT I LOVE THEM
me: like in my head it literally is just. jean is minding his business. he doesn't even do anything. and Kim is just glaring daggers at him from across the room. in my head it's a sitcom bit where every time Harry leaves the room with Kim and Jean left Kim threatens Jean's life and as soon as Harry comes back in hes Normal again and jean is like GET YOUR FUCKING DOG BITCH
rat: Nobody ever believes Jean when he says this is happening
"No he's so even-tempered he's really polite maybe you just misinterpreted?"
Or even worse it makes Jean look crazy
me: like jean comes back to his desk and there's his mug which is now filled with dirt and a sticky note that says "bitch"
he looks over at Kim's desk and Kim is staring directly at him with murder in his eyes
and then a couple seconds pass and he looks away like nothing happened and jean is like "oh its ON motherfucker" (it is not on. jean can't hope to fight back against the wrath of kim kitsuragi)
jean fills Kim's coffee with salt? Kim just drinks it all. completely straight face. doesn't flinch once
kim comes over later and is like "thanks for the coffee" even tho jean was SURE no one saw him do that
he goes to fucking pryce about it eventually and he's just like "I don't appreciate you spreading rumors about the newest member of the 41st. he's done exemplary work. far better than you. maybe you need to go through that sensitivity training again?" and he blows his fucking LID over that.
challenges kim to a fucking brawl in the middle of the bullpen and Kim is just like. officer you're embarrassing yourself *eyebrow*
his reputation never recovers. even more of a joke than Dick Mullen now
rat: Kim being so so SO careful never to do this when anyone else is around. But then one day Jean is in the bathroom, and then the door opens, and it's Kim. And Kim just stops. Looks at him. Smirks a little. Then reaches behind himself and locks the door
And Jean feels FEAR
Kim never actually touches him. But it's very clear he's more than capable of following through on his threats.
Getting in his space and grabbing his chin to make sure Jean is Paying Attention
me: jean starts looking over his shoulder on his way home. one time Kim tails him just to fuck with him. jean thinks he loses him but when he gets onto his street kim is standing outside of his building, having his one cigarette
jean is stood frozen. Kim locks eyes with him as he puts out the cig on his boot. walks away
jean i think starts to try and play dirty as well but idk how he'd go about it. he's too... hm. stupid
rat: Yeah yeah yeah for sure like. He tries to "trick" Kim into a fight but Kim is five steps ahead at all times, he never takes the bait
And god help him if he tries to antagonize Harry to get to Kim
That's when Kim gets SERIOUS
That's when Kim finds him in a dark alley outside of work
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grabs a handful of his hair, smashes his face into a brick wall, puts him into a hammerlock hold
Tumblr media
Whispers in his ear if he ever catches him trying that shit again, he's not getting a warning next time
me: I think it'd be hilarious if Jean tried to threaten suicide and it just. doesn't work. I think it'd make sense for him to bait kim like "okay well what if I killed myself and framed YOU for my MURDER" and Kim is like officer don't be dramatic get over yourself please
Tumblr media
rat: Kim just staring at him like "Okay then. Do it. Right now."
Tumblr media
Maybe Kim even hands over his gun
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jean trying to turn the tables by pointing it at Kim
Tumblr media
Kim never flinches
"Go ahead. Pull the trigger. Unlike your idiotic plan, I'll be missed. And we both know Harry never stops."
me: I just think that scene in the alley could end up with Harry intuiting whats going on, that an officer is in danger, so he goes to stop it and- hey JEAN IS POINTING A GUN AT KIM??? AND KIM ISNT??? STOPPING HIM????
Tumblr media
rat: HARRY PUTTING HIMSELF IN THE WAY OF THE GUN
Tumblr media
Jean having to reconcile the fact that Harry is no longer his, insofar as he was before
me: after a tense second of not moving. jean actually considering doing it.
rat: GOD Jean being like I could just do it. Shoot him, maybe have time to reload and shoot myself after. That might be the only way to truly Hurt Kim
me: kim catches on to that. and for the first time he IS afraid
hes fine losing himself. but losing Harry? he couldn't bear it. he would sooner die
then. all at once. jean drops it
he can't do it. too much of a coward. "GOD FUCKING DAMN YOU!!" punches the wall etc. definitely crying. meanwhile kim GRABS Harry by the shoulders. he's shaking with fury and also something else. "what the FUCK are you thinking-" and Harry cuts him off with "what are YOU thinking? what the fuck was that? what HAPPENED to you?"
Harry means "you two" but kim feels that in his soul
they leave jean to talk after that. and that conversation is not a pretty one
smth smth "I was trying to protect you" "that was too far" "he went too far first. he was hurting you" "so your solution is to hurt him back?" "he wasn't going to STOP" "then let me deal with it!" etc etc
no idea what jean does from there. maybe he actually fucking thinks and reconsiders things and idk grows as a person
anyway after that we get the dinner from hell
harry invites them to a get-along dinner. christ
GOD. THE TENSEST DINNER EVER. TO RIVAL ANY FAMILY DINNER
im just imagining them trying to throttle each other on top of some takeout
harry is yelling TIMEOUT TIMEOUT
composure failure
rat: Harry like "can't we all just get along??" and Kim and Jean say NO at the same time
me: they both point at each other at the same time and go HE STARTED IT
harry actually passes an authority check and scolds them and they both realize how petty this is and its all very embarrassing and Harry is treating this very seriously. fully goes "do you have anything to say?" and they grumble sorry and he's like "not to me. to *each other*"
rat: He only passed Kim's authority because Kim hates seeing him sad
me: slow look at each other. jean holds out a hand. Kim grabs it so tight you hear joints snap.
they still hate each other so so much but Harry is Determined to make them friends
its like. harry is their get-along shirt
rat: Harry like the power of love and friendship will prevail and Kim tries he really does but every time he sees Jean he hears the Kill Bill sirens in his head
He makes an honest effort to threaten his life less but that's all he can manage
me: I do think this could get resolved eventually tho. like harry being put in some sort of crisis situation where his life is on the line or something
rat: Wouldn't it be funny if the situation was something Harry put himself in though
Like getting himself kidnapped by a gang
Like "wow this will really bring Jean and Kim together! ♡"
Meanwhile he's literally tied to a chair with his face bloody and nose broken
And Jean and Kim HAVE to team up. They can't take on a gang ALONE
Jean pretends not to care but he cares so much it makes him look stupid
If Harry actually dies what the fuck is he supposed to do
me: it works but not in the way he intended cause it actually touches on the heart of the conflict is that Jean wants to blame Harry for everything ever and also he does care so much it makes him look stupid so when they find out it was actually sort of on purpose they BOTH GET MAD AT HIM FOR THE SAME REASON
a horrible, deadly pact is formed. harry is now in grave danger
rat: Harry wanted them to be friends. And now, unfortunately, they are
He's never getting let out of their sight again
me: I like to think eventually they do chill out and become friends about it. like outside of all that. maybe jean finally gets over himself and Kim and Harry have a talk about being posessive- lol I'm just kidding those two are codependent to the fucking grave. but still I think they could end up being civil and the death threats just become banter
the competitive streak never dies tho. constantly trying to one-up each other. functional kismesistude

general masterlist | hockey masterlist
Tumblr media
So... this is, spicier than I typically write, we're trying something new.
So yeah, consider that a warning. Begins under the cut :)
Please give feedback, I promise I can take it.
Being in a relationship with Nico Hischier meant a lot of things.
A lot of young hockey players thinking I'm suddenly their mom.
A lot of facetime dates when he's on the road.
A lot of time spent molded together on his couch, his hand running through my hair with a 90s sitcom in the background.
And some nights, dating Nico means experiencing his love in the bedroom.
"What's this one?" His lips are making my brain malfunction; their soft touch barely graces the skin his breath is hovering over. The warmth of his body as he uses his arms to hover over my entire body, hard on pressing against my inner thigh, only separated by the boxers he still has on.
Said lips are currently greeting the tattoo I have on the back of my shoulder, how he's reaching it a mystery I can't piece together.
"It's words. A quote."
Nico pulls away, brows raised and eyes skeptical. "You know the rules, baby. You tell me about your tattoos and I'll move closer to where you want me. When you stop answering, I stop kissing."
"Nicooo," The whine is unescapable, how could it be when his lips feel like this and one of his hands is sliding up my side, inching closer and closer to my breast.
"Tell me the story behind your tattoo and you'll get what you want, Schatz."
Fuck him.
Well, I guess that is the goal.
"It says you are my sunshine in my grandmother's cursive, she used to sing it to me all the time," I manage, breaths deep as I try to focus on my words and not the hand teasing around my nipple.
His hand shifts to running down my body as he moves even lower to kiss over the Roman numerals on my wrist. "And this?"
"Sister's birthday."
"Which sister?" He can't be serious, his hand just placed itself over my core and he's asking about which sister.
"Both," It's basically a gasp, "They were both born on the 26th of their month, so it's a 26."
His weight shifts, earning a groan as he's pressed harder into my thigh, moving his mouth to my neck before trailing down my clavicle and to my arm, where a line drawing of a bouquet of flowers sits, "And this?"
"Flowers in honor of my great-grandmother, they're her birth flower," I'm nearing whiney. I can't control it but God I hate it.
He's shifting once more, and I can tell in how shifting he is while he moves his lips to my where his hands just were, hand moving from the one breast to the other.
"Neeks this is mean."
"Shatz, you're being whiney. The whinier you are, the slower this is."
He hates me. That has to be the only reason he's drawing this out.
His mouth is sucking, tongue swirling as I move my hands to his hair, knitting them through how long its gotten.
If I can just-
"Are you trying to push my head down?"
"...no?" It's a question, must be a question, or he won't continue his path.
He doesn't respond, but he does lift his head, a smirk on his face that only ever comes out when he's winning a game or in here with me.
Okay, so no didn't work.
"Please?" Is my next attempt.
He's smiling even larger.
I definitely don't hate him. I love him with my entire being.
"Only because you asked nicely," He's shifting again, this time placing his mouth on the florals wrapping around my upper thigh. "And after we've finished my game."
"My middle name is Rose, they're roses."
And now he's at my other hip, and the inhale he takes is sudden and deep. "What is this?"
Now it's my turn to be cheeky because this is my newest addition, one he hasn't seen yet, and he's genuinely surprised by.
"I got it during your last roadie," I can't help how bright I'm smiling, no matter how worked up I am.
"Is it what I think it is?" His hands leave me, now just holding himself up as he radiates joy. "The number thirteen in Roman numerals?"
"For you, my favorite hockey player," my head is nodding as best I can from where I'm laying. "I got it for our four years; I was waiting for you to notice."
"I love you," Is all he can say. "I love you so so much, Schatz."
"I love you too," I giggle brightly.
His smile shifts, a smirk taking over and his lips are back on my skin, moving lower and lower to just above where I need him.
His eyes glance up through his lashes, still smirking. "I think you've earned what you want."
"Fucking finally."

A Cosmic Hourglass Half-Full: A Spoiler-Filled List of Everything I Appreciated about "Quantumania"
Tumblr media
“So… what’s next… Secret Wars?” As someone whose feelings for the last two Marvel movies can be described as “mixed at best,” I was surprised to find myself uttering these words outside my local Laemmle.
It was 3 pm after a matinee showing of “Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania”, and while I found the movie heavy on the green screen and light on just about everything else, I was already looking forward to reuniting with my college friends for the next entry in ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It was at that moment that it occurred to me: the MCU, for better or for worse, is no longer just a franchise of movies and tv shows. They are cultural events. They are a recurring reason to gather with friends and family, and they give us something to talk about besides climate change and the price of gas. For this reason, attending a Marvel movie is almost like a sporting event. Sometimes, as with the case in Quantumania or Dark World, your team has a bad day. But that doesn’t mean you quit being a fan. It’s just more of a reason to celebrate franchise-defining moments, ala No Way Home or Endgame.
Therefore, in the spirit of optimistic fandom, here is a SPOILER-FILLED LIST OF EVERYTHING TO APPRECIATE ABOUT QUANTUMANIA, in order of appearance. Because yes, we lost this round, but the game definitely had some highlights…
Tumblr media
-Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror-
Simultaneously the movie’s greatest strength and most glaring weakness is the way it left you wanting more from the MCU’s newest big bad. Can an actor nail all his lines, even without things like motivation or context? Apparently, yeah. Majors might not actually have much to do in this movie, but you’ll struggle to take your eyes off him.
-Look Out for the Little Guy-
Scott’s post-Endgame memoir has been a running gag in the MCU for awhile now, but seeing Rudd ham it up in a Barnes n’ Noble is joy in its purest form. If this didn’t make you smile, I think you got the wrong theater…
Tumblr media
-William Jackson Harper as Quaz, the Telepath-
Yeah, I didn’t know that character had a name either. Still, this Good Place alum delivered the laughs with every line. I think we’d all watch a comedy sitcom set in the quantum realm if Harper was the showrunner.
“Like Stuffing a Turkey”
Whatever discomfort we endured watching Michael Douglas double-fist a pair of gummy worms was paid off in perhaps the greatest “I’ll drive” moment in movie history. I’ve never heard an audience cheer for anything stranger.
Tumblr media
All Things M.O.D.O.K.
While Cross’s freakish appearance provided some of the movie’s best visual gags, writer Jeff Loveness also deftly turned Yellowjacket from a D-list villain into one of the most entertaining and memorable characters in the entire MCU. And his death scene? Instant meme material. It was THAT good.
Tumblr media
One in a Million Paul Rudds
-Remember that iconic Infinity War moment when Doctor Strange tells Tony that there is literally a one in 14 million chance that Thanos is defeated? Well apparently there’s also a one in a billion chance that Scott keeps his job at Baskin Robbins and never becomes Ant-Man in the first place. That’s pure comedy.
What about you? Which moments saved the movie for you, if even temporarily?

On The Dissatisfying Characterisation Of Wanda Maximoff in DSMoM and a Brief Aside on the Misogyny Of Superhero Films
This is very long winded, unedited and has sat in my google docs since the day after DSMoM's release. I love it dearly.
Word Count: 3203
Warnings: Obvious spoilers for DSMoM, discussions of motherhood, discussions of the Red Room and violation of female autonomy, Fleur's thinly veiled desires to replace Joss Whedon and Michael Waldron for their poor writing, many rambles to many other essays that I will eventually write.
Please let me preface this by acknowledging that outside of this movie, there are definitely things done poorly with Wanda's characterisation, storyline, and the MCU in general. I will always be first and foremost a comic fan and champion, but the thoughts I had on this topic refused to leave until I wrote them. If anyone wants to discuss anything further, I'm more than open so long as conversation is civil. That being said, please enjoy my lengthy, unceasingly detailed thoughts on fictional, non-existent characters.
Let's begin!
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while fantastical and a great delivery on a genre bending superhero film, is not without its faults. In particular, I’ll highlight the lack of carry over on Wanda Maximoff’s character growth from the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, inclusive of her show WandaVision.
While she made for a compelling villain, it would’ve been much more satisfying for her characterisation to see the Darkhold’s corruption - also known as the main point of the film - to slowly seep into her as she grapples with knowing her children and husband are so close yet so far away, and that she has the power to find them on hand. To have it hidden from the other characters that she was in possession of the very thing they fought to destroy, and using it, would’ve made the film infinitely more meaningful as it would’ve portrayed just how broken am individual she had become, and empathy would have flown out from the audience - after all, who doesn’t know the experience of being at your wits end, so close to the happiness you want in life yet so, so far away?
Yes, we could empathise with her from the first scene, we’re quite literally led into the depths of her grief. We see the life she could’ve had in some reality that wasn’t as cruel, the love and support that used to come from the very people she lost.  We’re brought to a bright colour palette with sweeping shots, showing the joy and chaotic nature of motherhood, with hints of a Wanda we’ve only briefly seen in the illusion of Wandavision. The choices made in the mise en scene of the moment tell as all we need to know - from Wanda’s brown hair reminiscing her days of Sokovian childhood, where she would watch sitcoms with her family and run rampant with her twin brother, to the athleisure wear of her outfit symbolising her comfort in this reality and the brightness of everything in this scene portraying the brightness within Wanda when she is with those she loves. After being comforted by this scene, the filmmakers tear the illusion apart and cruelly reveal Wanda’s withered state, a broken woman climbing out of bed, facing the nightmare of her true life. The colour palette dims, reflecting the life flowing out of Wanda, the score is ripped from our ears. We are left with the stark, soundless reality of grief, a tear teased out of our eyes akin to those so freely falling from Wanda’s.
I’m also led to note the absence of Vision, her husband, in this dream scene. Even within an idyllic reality, she subconsciously believes she must sacrifice something - after all, it has been compounded throughout her life. This notable absence is seen throughout the movie but is not without commonality in the MCU - they like to replace one loss in Wanda’s life with the newest. Throughout Age Of Ultron the closeness of the twins - Pietro and Wanda - is conveyed. From checking on each other in battle, speaking without words, tender platonic forehead kisses and their shared turmoil over their orphaning, their sibling relationship seems central to their characterisation. All moments lead up to Pietro’s sacrifice of life to save a young boy and the guttural, cutting scream Wanda releases while feeling the life seep out of her brother, the only longstanding family she ever had. You truly believe you can convince me that a woman, so close to her brother who she shares these sacrificial  ideals with, would be so easily corrupted by a Big Bad Evil Book that she’d kidnap and murder a child just to find happiness? There’s no true believability in that, especially when you factor in her longstanding temperament to sacrifice her livelihood for the good of others. Regardless of measures of believability, Marvel once again forefronts the most recent loss in Wanda’s life, her children, without properly concluding her connection to other losses. Sure, it can be argued that some closure was found during WandaVision over her brother’s death, but death stays with us forever. If grief, like Vision told Wanda, is love persevering, why would the love of her brother not factor into her search through the multiversal cosmos? During her speech at Kamar-Taj, where she highlights all the loss and sacrifice experienced in her life, it feels disjointed that she wouldn’t bring in the intimate loss of her brother, and furthermore it feels like a disservice to her character, who is so interpersonal and motivated purely by the desire for family and connection, that she only searches for a partially fulfilling reality where she just has her kids and not her husband and brother. It feels like another notice in a long list of missed opportunities by Marvel.
Further exploration of her memories - or even mentions of her passed brother - would’ve better fed into her role as the tortured hero. Through brief mentions of how she “blew a hole into the head of the man [she] loved,” we see the most recent of her losses, but what about those that initiated her grief? Those that set off a chain reaction in a long, complex process of sacrifice? Every fragment of her story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films sees her sacrifice, lose something or suffer for great powers that seem to control her rather than the other way around. They exact a toll without the influence of the Darkhold, a concept that has been extremely compelling to audiences thus far, so why was her archetype as the tortured hero not explored in more depth? I again fall to the subject of subtle corruption, seeing a continued grapple with a hero who has lost so much in her life being tempted to maybe, just maybe, take something for herself.
Even with the corrupting influence of the Dark Hold, I believe that Wanda wouldn’t accept without hesitation. To do so would negate the entirety of her growth in WandaVision, where she made the excruciating and gut wrenching choice to set the citizens of  Westview free, even at the cost of her personal happiness and the only thing she ever wanted - a family. In fact, it was this aching longing for family that led to Westview’s entrapment in the first place: the continual compounding of trauma in her life, accompanied by the fresh memory of having seen her husband’s corpse and being denied the right of a funeral for him - and, in extension, the right to grieve - sees her reactive magic cast out in a cascade of emotion, building her some modicum of comfort, even though she didn’t consciously decide to cast that hex. The conclusion of the series sees Wanda once again isolated in her grief, hoping for a moment to say hello again to the family that gave her life purpose. Even with these desires, she chooses to accept responsibility for her actions and leave Westview, retiring to a cottage in the woods. She can be said to be at a crossroads - in possession of the Darkhold and the knowledge that she is the Scarlet Witch but also still a hero at heart, continuing her life of sacrifice for the good of others.
Wanda’s character would’ve better been developed in her own solo film, where her peril at being held captive by the Darkhold would be in the limelight, where a grapple with morality and who she believes herself to be falters under the sway of all she ever desired. Even prolonged exploration into other options to find her family, to bring her boys - her boys specifically, not multiversal iterations ripped away from their mother - back to life, would’ve better grown her. Even a throwaway line mounted by the enormity of her desperation, of how there was no other choice but to use the Darkhold, would’ve defined her in more sturdy strokes than the entirety of her so-called character arc in the film. To see a complex, multilayered descent into villainy that was something beyond the typical superhero trope of a powerful woman declining into madness when emotionally unstable would’ve truly grabbed my attention and held it hostage. Instead, we are greeted with an unrefined and underdeveloped character driven to the edge by a lack of motherhood, as if there weren’t a myriad of other intricate losses that guided her to the tyranny she now exacts.
The dichotomy between motherhood and monsterhood are seen as extremes for Wanda to oscillate between by the film’s writer, rather than a labyrinthine space for her to embody. The tenderness she holds for her children is conveyed as she dreamwalks, weeping twin tears of joy and grief as she is able to hold her children again, the American accent she adopted dropped for the Sokovian one she had hidden away, her true self bared in the emotional enormity of the scene. A masterful moment by itself, it is soon discredited by an uncharacteristic flip back to the search to steal America Chavez’s powers, which would subsequently kill the child. The believability is swept from beneath our feet, the Darkhold may make Wanda ruthless enough to go through with it, but should she not stumble? Should she not consider the horror her boys would feel upon discovering that is how she reached them? Again, Wanda’s nuanced character is cheapened to pigeonhole her as a deranged villain instead of the tortured person she is. Wanda’s lack of desire to renounce her quest to find family and understanding makes her out to be a monster. Yes, she is unjustifiably murderous and in the wrong during this film. Yet she is also more, and the film had the opportunity to showcase a multifaceted character who is neither hero, antihero or villain but failed. My disappointment lies within the threads of greatness weaved between the disorganisation, the possibility so easily seen that a woman may be characterised by more than just her relationship to motherhood. The sloppiness of it all cheapens the authority of Olsen’s acting, which brings more depth to the film than the writing ever could. (And I’m not even going to discuss the choice of Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff instead of a Romani-Jewish actress, that’s discourse for another essay.)
Monsterhood vs motherhood has already been utilised by Marvel Studios to simplify female characters in the past, such as their painting of Natasha Romanoff as a monster for being unable to have children during Age Of Ultron. A child assassin, one raised in the most harrowing of environments where she constantly knew she was replaceable, that ruthlessness was the only currency she may trade in, where death must be a constant companion tucked close to her heart, reduced to one dimensionality over the fact that she has no uterus. Natasha Romanoff, who is arguably one of the most excruciatingly painful depictions of female agony, a woman who has been denied agency and self expression by the men in her life, is supposed to think herself an abomination for what someone else did to her? The plausibility of the situation is minimal. Though Natasha is known for her intensive self loathing and driven to help others to wipe the red out of her ledger, she understands the people who operate out of monstrosity: men like the handlers in the Red Room who tormented her. The Red Room is known to be a place that snatches young girls from their beds, removes their autonomy and gruellingly subjugates them into unrecognisable killing machines devoid of purpose beyond that which their trigger is aimed at, and a wombless woman is depicted as the true horror. Those people manipulated young girls into believing they only have the propensity for murder and bloodshed, yet the emphasis of monstrosity is enforced upon a woman who was unwillingly sterilised? How despicable modern media is, that its veiled misogyny positions women to believe themselves to be empty vessels that are only filled by the pursuit of motherhood.  A woman without the capacity for motherhood is deemed as a monster by a male writer, just as a mother without her children is worthless and incomplete. It’s as if the complexity of female superhero stories often goes undiscovered purely to simplify them into something easily categorizable, rather than something as murky, blurred and complicated as their male counterparts.
Moreover, the femininity of characters is often used to credit them as easily disposable. Despite Wanda’s blatant villainy, she was still being possessed and corrupted by the Darkhold, an item that fed off of her trauma and twisted her innermost longings into hellish, insatiable desires. Any other character would receive attempts for help, to save them from this fate, and yet Doctor Strange dismisses the convolution of her situation with a simple “Wanda’s gone now,” treating her as an assailant, rather than a fellow soldier with whom he marched into battle with. Now, you may consider me crass or radical for this interpretation, and I would too, had we not recently received Spiderman: No Way Home from Marvel Studios. One of the prominent thematic issues of the film is that all are redeemable, and a considerable portion of the plot sees the protagonist attempt to remedy and help the afflictions of the antagonists. What is it that others Wanda from this fate, what separates her from these established and continual villains of the MCU? Why, she’s an emotionally unstable woman, and despite being corrupted by external influences that may be overcome by factors seen in the movie (say, the antithesis of the Darkhold, the Book Of Vishanti), Hollywood views her as utterly disposable. It is far simpler to discredit and toss away a powerful woman than it is to explore her in full complexity, to file her away in a long list of emotionally unstables than to exhibit the complicatedness that is her sum total, allowing her the space to grow beyond the limiting archetypes of hero and villain into something much, much more enticing. So many missed opportunities, so much thinly hidden misogyny.
During the final scenes of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, we are once again shown a broken, grief stricken Wanda. While I think a slow corruption would’ve better serviced the continuity of her characterisation, I understand and acquiesce to the choices made here. Wanda, in her corrupted, ruthless state, is brought to the reality she’s been aching for. Her children are terrified as this is no longer the kind, gentle mother they know. They fear her. They scream at her. They beg her not to hurt them. This torrid rejection from the people she quite literally corrupted her soul for shatters her. As the only people she believes meaningful, it makes sense that they can pull the wool from her eyes (though I must wonder why Billy and Tommy did not fight back against this demented version of their mother with their powers, instead only throwing toys and cowering. It’s almost as if the writer likes to forget to incorporate details from a certain series called WandaVision - oh wait.) Wanda did not believe she was a monster, only a mother reaching out for the unconditional love of her children, and now she sees the extremity of her actions. It is laid out in front of her, the immense harm caused by placing her happiness over the safety of others. It truly feels as if the essence of this film was an undoing and redoing of Wanda’s growth in WandaVision, a keen cinematic cycle where self awareness ends in self abhorrence. It’s a film that we’ve seen played before, only now with amplified stakes and a lack of emotional depth that WandaVision brought. We see the same growth produced by WandaVision’s conclusion replayed in Multiverse Of Madness seemingly for no reason other than to have an intense, ruthless villain for Doctor Strange to project his moral quandaries onto. While extraordinarily enjoyable, the nuance of Wanda’s character was renounced to make her into a simple plot device. At the film’s conclusion she is no more and no less developed than she was in WandaVision, the only thing that may have doubled was her self loathing.
The ending of Multiverse of Madness is the only thing I can say was in step with any previous characterisation Marvel Studios has given Wanda. It parallels the position Wanda was in during WandaVision, when she becomes aware that her grief and trauma is spilling over onto and affecting the Westview citizens. It’s as if she’s brought to consciousness, and when she is, she is horrified. This self awareness ushers her to take accountability and do whatever is in her power to make things right by destroying the hex. While it is unseen by the Westview citizens, who have only felt her pain in vague extension and not comprehended the expansive trauma that brought Wanda to this moment, the audience understands Wanda’s true heart to help others, even at a cost to herself. Multiverse Of Madness’ ending somewhat depicts this sentiment too; it may be but a faint echo of the emotionally intune WandaVision, but I’ll take it. Other characters in the story don’t comprehend the full brunt of her motivations and suffering, even some of the audience do not. And despite Wanda doing everything wrong, we inexplicably cannot help ourselves but empathise and connect ourselves to her. We have all experienced the agony of being so close yet so far to that which fulfils us, desperate for what we believe will complete us. We all ache for true happiness and supportive love, to know that who we are is valid and that we are loved despite our flaws. Wanda is a character who craves love, the epitome of the human condition, and has no one and nowhere to receive it from. The only comfort she can receive at the end of the film, where she is left with the carnage of her actions, is to know that her boys will be loved. Only Wanda herself, though a multiverse variant, can understand the anguish of 616 Wanda. (Afterall, if our Wanda could dream of her children, 838 Wanda must be harassed with a nightly deluge of trauma where her boys disintegrate, her brother’s body fills with bullets and her husband has his forehead ripped apart.) And as she makes the choice to collapse the Wungadore Temple around herself, Wanda takes true responsibility for her harrowing villainy.
While not a satisfying conclusion to her journey, this end feels fitting. Wanda continues her sacrificial streak, this time forfeiting her life in order to close the Darkhold across the multiverse and ensure no others will be tempted by its corrupting force. I feel vast sadness for Wanda, a character whose main flaw is being ruled by her emotions and the longing for connection, one that so strongly resonates within myself. I feel deeply saddened by the trajectory of her journey, that no matter what path she takes, self sacrifice or self servitude, she cannot find happiness or that which makes her life meaningful. While not a beautiful or redeeming end to one of my favourite characters, it eventually manages to reinforce the primary tenets of her character and hold a mirror to the tortured soul within us all.
You've reached the end! Congratulations, you deserve a cookie for your efforts. Thanks for taking the time to read, it means the world to me :)

🐝 fitting the emoji: "Not The Bees!" :D
Ah yes, this was another episode of the Ironworks sitcom, "Where's the Chief?"!
The episode starts out with Lucia Junius, who for REASONS WE WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND, is entrusting some sundry maintenance of her very expensive and beautiful custom champagne white Magitek Reaper mount (nickname: "Sweet Judy Green Eyes") to Garlond Ironworks. Basically it's chilling out in their hangar in Mor Dhona, awaiting some incredibly basic services like an inspection, an oil filter change, a chassis cleaning and total hoovering of the seats, etc. So what could possibly go wrong with this?
Yeah, that's probably what Lucia said to herself too. Anyway.
One morning, Wedge heads into the hangar to start work on the Reaper when he hears a strange thrumming noise—yes, a rather buzzy sort of sound, definitely some kind of buzz, coming from inside one of her rear leg panels... 🤔 Unsure what's up, Wedge runs back into the workshop to fetch the first person he sees for help. Unfortunately, the first person he sees is Nero Scaeva, breakfasting on his usual black coffee and leftover cigarette butts scrounged from the smoke room ashtray.
I mean, if Wedge had gotten like, Biggs or Lilja or Jessie or even Phil the Intern, the problem would definitely be resolved in a very sensible way within the span of like five minutes, and then we probably wouldn't have much of a sitcom, would we? Anyway.
He takes Nero out to the Reaper and asks if he knows what the problem is. Nero goes to press his ear against the panel, but soon the dead giveaway comes flitting out of a small hole drilled into it: A BEE! Wedge begins to panic, but Nero begins to think in a more rational way, and by rational I mean he's definitely thinking about how he can press this bizarre situation to his advantage, and by advantage I mean "making this month's rent before he gets kicked out of his flat and has to sleep on Garlond's couch for the next several months".
He knocks the can of bug spray right out of Wedge's hand and orders him not to say a word about this to anyone—especially Lucia. That's right, Sweet Judy Green Eyes is about to become Garlond Ironworks's newest Honey-Moneymaker! 🐝🐝🐝
Anyway, this scheme lasts for a highly improbable amount of time... long enough for Nero to turn the Reaper into a high-tech bee motel with the finest Scaev-Tec™ honey tapping technology (patent pending). Liquid gold! At least at the Mor Dhona weekend farmer's market. And whenever poor Lucia asks when she's going to get her ride back, Wedge just gives her some lame excuse, as Nero is giving him a cut of the honey profits just to keep his mouth shut.
WELL SOON ENOUGH CID GARLOND COMES BACK FROM WHEREVER HE WENT and naturally this is when the scheme falls apart: He demands that Nero and Wedge clear out the bees and get Lucia's mount ready for its scheduled maintenance. However, Cid's return coincides with the arrival of Dr. Flowering Tussock, a famous Sharlayan entomologist who has heard all about this famous "Mor Dhona Honey". She is especially intrigued by this story as to her knowledge, most of the bees native to the Mor Dhona region were extirpated during the Calamity. She investigates Nero's little sweatshop and confirms that the honeybees living within are indeed 100% native Mor Dhona honeybees and thus a valuable scientific specimen! She offers a frankly obscene amount of money for the mount, but Nero very begrudgingly "does the right thing" and explains that the mount isn't theirs to sell... SIGH.
However, when Cid tells Lucia the whole ridiculous story, she just laughs it off, saying it took so long for them to get her mount back to her that she already got herself a new scooter anyway—far more practical for the narrow streets of Ishgard! She gives her permission for Dr. Tussock to remove and rehome the bees (free of charge, naturally!), and to do whatever they like with Sweet Judy Green Eyes.
No more bees. No more honey. No more money. No more not sleeping on Cid Garlond's couch.
When Nero hears the conclusion of this story, he is so vexed he eats a cigarette butt.

okay fuck it we ball im posting resident alien stuff here. hyperfixation time. spoilers below so be warned.
im sooo bummed over the recent ep. the gripe i have w every single piece of media happened agaiiinnnnn. can i have ONE thing that doesnt force relationship arcs. especially ones that dont fit the initial or continuing tone of the shoooow. <--- edit again to clarify. i loved the tone of s1. i want that back. its getting too comedyish.
like i rlly connected w harry esp the fact he wasnt really getting infatuated with anyone but this whole horned up episode was grating to watch. like i still think there were sweet moments but boooo 🍅💥🍅💥 im hoping its just for some sort of conflict and that itll get squashed come the next few eps. (ALSO EDIT: at least the thing with harry and isabelle was palatable. gahhh im just peeved….)
s1 was so baller too like it had good clever comedy and still had drama to it. like im hoping the very like… bland surface level humor gets dialed back. like its soooo forced to me. but i guess thats what the average viewer likes which is dog doodoo. dont make it a sitcom please im begging. it was soooo unique.
i will be rewatching season 1 for the 5th time tonight but another thing i noticed is the increased use of like… musical scores. its like one step removed from a laugh track. gahh.
anyways im a harry asta supporter also harry joseph supporter so this forced stuff hurts to watch esp bc it doesnt fit character to me. considering harrys whole thing so far has been about developing and realizing connections, the sudden shift to horniness just! isnt consistent. not to be autistic or anything haha.
speaking of! i think its boring and cheap to have this alien/alien thing going on. and also feels really like.. “nd people can never fit in so they have to be with other nd people.” i think i wouldnt be so turned away if it was more genuine. but this is a comedy ig, i just wish it was handled differently. its uninteresting to meeeee. like an alien/alien thing can work but not like this. gives very nd are forever seen as weird and are therefor ostracized. like it feels othering to me. ESP BC OF HOW FORCED UGHHHHHHH i hate forced romance shit so much. perhaps thats an unpopular take but i said what i said! sudden nonmeaningful stuff like this i feel will kill the show. i wouldnt be surprised if it fizzles out.
UM ALSO? tudyk bringing up shape of water on insta abt the newest ep????? i dont think so???????? i never watched that but i kind of know what it was about and it certainly wasnt fish on fish love. smdh. like i feel like the reason why it was so big when it came out was (albeit as someone who hasnt watched it and have surface level understanding) bc it was between a lady and fish guy. and it was heartfelt. not to be harry asta or anything but that was already developing so like. AGHHHUU. even a harry joseph dynamic i can get around in a way bc theres room for development. also itd be gay so thats a plus.
anyways i might check out the graphic novels. told myself i wouldnt bc my brain works weird but maybe itd be a good idea to get into that. unfortunately i will probably be begrudgingly keeping up bc im hyperfixated on it. GAHHHGG anyways ramble rant over.
edit ps: i will also clarify that if asta were to be written out to be nd i would be just as pleased if not more pleased. im just not liking how this is going so far. tomato tomato tomato

What made you watch/read your fandoms in the first place? And what makes you stay involved in the fandoms? :D
I guess we'll start with the first question and go from the newest fandoms to the oldest!
Moriarty the Patriot: My brother plays this game called Crunchyroll roulette, where he closes his eyes and clicks on a random anime, then watches it. He just so happened to click on Moriarty the Patriot and after he watched it he was like, "Ash you have to watch this! It's not only the best anime I've ever watched, but it's the best show I've ever watched!" So I watched it and immediately fell in love with the series! I read the manga after watching the anime (I tend to do that with everything) and really fell head first into the fandom.
Spy×Family: I saw a lot of hype around it when the anime first came out. At first I was like, eh, just another anime, but then I got bored during a shift at the library I used to work at and started watching it. It's two of my favorite things combined, old timey sitcom vibes, and spy stuff! I'm not as involved in the Spy×Family fandom as in other fandoms, but I always love talking about it!
Bungo Stray Dogs: I was in college, scrolling through TikTok in class, not paying attention as one does, and stumbled across an edit of Dazai. I was like, "This show seems fun!" Then it ripped my heart out and stomped all over it. It's the anime that got me into fandoms in the first place. It was also the first thing I ever watched where I genuinely related to the characters. Sure the show has its flaws, but it's my perfect show. Detectives, superpowers, references to classic literature, and relatable characters. It's literally everything I love wrapped into one package.
What makes me stay involved in fandoms? The community. It's a group of people I can talk to where we all have similar interests. I'm not nearly as active in fandoms as I used to be. I would like to be more active but trying to balance work, social responsibilities, and life leaves little room to be involved. I still enjoy reading other people's posts and engaging whenever I can!

The newest episode* of Getting Published Might Not Be So Hopeless After All
*As if there were earlier episodes
I finished a book the other day--it's a recent publication (came out last month), currently at 3,61 on Goodreads with nearly 6000 ratings
It's titled My Roommate Is a Vampire, and the title just about tells you everything that you need to know :D
But in a nutshell: after spending the last century or so in a magic induced coma, our vampire main guy has a deep seated desire to be able to blend in in the modern world, so he places an ad for an unsuspecting human roommate. Cassie (our main female/POV character) is a down-on-her-luck artist currently being evicted from her apartment, so she jumps on the opportunity. Time goes by, not so much stuff happens, and they fell for each other. The end.
Literally. There isn't much else that happens in the book.
That being said, the novel is not without its virtues. The start off situation is funny, especially since while Cassie doesn't know that she is moving in with a vampire, even with the guy's erratic, but heartfelt behavior, the audience does, so there are a bunch of endearingly hilarious situations. I honestly thought this setup would make a great sitcom. Plus all of the chapters start with either a letter/letters, chat messages, google searches, diary entries, etc., which was a narrative choice I really liked, especially since it allowed a glimpse into other characters' thoughts beyond Cassie.
The rest is under cut, because it got long
But holy crap, everything else in this novel was so underdeveloped I can't even express. It was like that author had this fun idea, but nothing beyond it, but was still determined to make it work. Like the publisher saw the opportunity in the setup, and had an editor work on it with the author, but then accidentally ended up publishing the original manuscript before the edits.
The author never took the effort to properly work on the lore. Basically the whole "presenting the lore" part is the two main characters watching Buffy, and the vampire guy (who is named Fredrick J. Fitzwilliam, btw) saying that yeah, the show got some things wrong, got other things right, and there are like 2 examples. We never actually learn how he, himself got turned (or how vampires get turned, for that matter). Also, there is his "mother" in the story - is she his maker? His actual mother? Both? We never learn!
Not to mention his whole backstory. At the point I have to compare it to All Souls, since we have a guy turned into a vampire hundreds (thousands) of years ago, when he was in his mid-thirties. In All Souls (okay, that's a bit longer story, I know, but still, it would take like, what, 5 pages?) we learn who Matthew was in his life, what he liked, what he did, we learn about his family, his tragedies, how he was turned, and, as a vampire, grew from an artisan into a de-facto nobleman. Fredrick, in contrast, started out from a humble home (we never explore how he ended up with upper class demeanor), and apparently did nothing until he was turned in his mid-thirties. Apparently he had no job, no family... And honestly, why wouldn't a guy in his mid-thirties be married in the 18t century? It's just such a lazy job, such lazy writing.
Also, there a scene (there are a bunch of scenes, really, but let me use this one as a example) where Cassie takes Fredrick to a party hosted by her best friend (she has a gay best friend, of course XD), and he prepares by memorizing a bunch of stuff about Taylor Swift, because he did his research, and apparently she is very popular in this age group.
The problem here is that, once again, the author didn't think it through. Reciting random facts is not just odd, but it's like the guy has zero frame of reference--but it's not just he doesn't have a frame of reference, it's that his frame of reference is drastically different. If I wrote it, it wouldn't be just reciting facts, and haha, it is funny, because Taylor is a big deal and I'm resonating with the audience. Instead, let's have Fredrick compare her to the great singers of his era. Like "I read about this lady, and I'd like to hear her sing--what do you mean it's all recorded? And what about live? In which establishment does she sing? In a stadium?!"
(And, yeah, btw, Frederick is said to have been in a coma for a hundred years, but that would mean that he went to sleep in the roaring twenties, and yet he acts Victorian/Regency period, which is, once again *just lazy, unrefined writing*)
The big conflict is supposed to be that Fredrick mother wants him to marry some vampire chick, and he is against it all. I have some many problems with how this plotline is excuted. Like 1, the vampire chick (called Esmeralda for some reason, which somehow sounds really tacky) is never seen in person. She is literally a non-character. Also, throughout the whole book she is super adamant about wanting to get married, then suddenly has a change of heart off screen in the last chapter. 2, Fredrick pulls himself together at some point to go and tell the families in person that he won't marry her, and... he gets taken hostage. And held for days. Which we never see, because he is not the POV character. There is zero tension, zero stakes (not even, you know, the kind you kill vampires with). Cassie figures out after some time that she is missing, she writes an e-mail to his mother that if they don't release him she'll expose vampires on TikTok (wheezing), and then Fredrick mother just backs down and releases him and HAPPY END! Honestly... that's the whol conflict. The sex scene is written with more details.
Talking about sex (because of course there is a lot of longing, and talk about erections, and then a long ass sex scenes, which I did not enjoy, because by then I was done with both characters): when Fredrick is released, he has wounds on his wrists after being tied up, and he is like "don't worry, it's just my heart doesn'T beat, so my blood doesn't flow *like that* so I heal slower :)
Like... okay, listen to me here... if his heart doesn't beat... and his blood doesn't really flow... you know what is highly unlikely to happen, right? RIGHT?!
So yeah, it could have been a good book, but it's just So Damn Badly Written from a technical point of view that I just can't. Nope. I can't.
But if this can get published, then who says I or you can't?

🥀🎉🚩🌠 for whoever u want :3
Hii Roe :3 This got really long, oops. I kinda answered for both Barbs and Sol cus I have no self-control. Thank you very much for the asks 💕
🥀 Talk about some of your fictional crushes and why they aren’t your F/O!
I have a lot of fictional crushes. Like, a lot a lot. The reason why they don't end up as f/os is because they're either too developed, have a nice canon love interest, or they don't get enough screen time for me to bond with them. It needs to be a balance of developed and left to the imagination. Or sometimes I just don't know how it'd work or their personality is a bit difficult for me to grasp.
Heres some examples: Razum-dar (ESO), Vazeera (Skyrim), Matthew (Downton), Kenny and Joan (Mad Men), like 6 diff Mahjarrat (RuneScape), Alex and Harvey (Stardew), Blue Diamond (Steven Universe).
Yeah I have a thing for non-humans.
🎉 Tell us some fun facts about your newest selfship!
😳 that would be Barbs huh. Well its an extremely long slow burn. At the beginning my s/i is kinda scared of him, so it takes a while for her to even start talking to him, let alone become friends.
My s/i is the one who pursues him despite the fact there's a lot in the way of anything happening, but flirting with him is enough for her anyway. A lot of one-sided yearning from her I suppose, or at least that's what she thinks.
I don't have a lot of fun facts yet since its so new, but he can tell what gender feel my s/i has just from looking at them and so always uses the correct pronouns.
🚩 What are some of your F/O’s flaws? Any red flags?
Solomon does get up to some shady business. He can be evasive about himself and the past, and also he kinda trapped demons into pacts with him when they were vulnerable. And he forced Barbs to help him once even tho Barbs couldn't stand him. Soo yeah hes got a few.
Barbs I dunno really. He's really powerful, he can literally affect reality because he sees the future and can pick what reality he likes best. Which isn't a red flag in itself but I guess can be concerning in some contexts. Also he says "thank you" when mc says they love him soo. Oh also apparently he's atoning for something but won't say what.
If they don't have any red flags then they aren't complex characters.
🌠 What’s a crack selfship that you’ve thought of?
Honestly most of my crackships are like, who would my s/i have drama with in this setting rather than romantic ships. For obey, I guess this would be the friendship thing my s/i has with Lucifer where she annoys him as much as possible but also always has his back. Like hes the mom of the family and shes the dad in that weird old sitcom way. Does that count?

Seth MacFarlane - Blue Skies / Songs From Home Seth Macfarlane is what I’d consider a Renaissance man; he’s an actor, singer, writer, animator, director, producer, and probably a lot more things that I can’t think of at the moment, but he can do it all. Most famously known as the creator and star of Family Guy, the animated sitcom that’s been notorious for being canceled twice (but still steadily on the air for the last 17 years, give or take), as well as American Dad, he’s also the director of Ted and its sequel, as well as the creator of The Orville, a Star Trek-inspired show that’s on its third season at the moment. One thing that a lot of people may not know is that he releases music, too, and he has since 2011. MacFarlane is a big fan of jazz music, especially Frank Sinatra, so he’s been putting out jazz cover albums over the last decade, and his newest LP, Blue Skies, is no exception. Honestly, there’s not a whole lot that I have to say about this record, because if you know going into it that it’s a jazz record, and it covers a lot of famous jazz standards (and I believe there’s an original song or two), that pretty much sounds like Frank Sinatra, you’ll have an idea of what to expect here. Personally, I really love this album, and that’s the main reason why I wanted to briefly talk about it. Blue Skies might honestly be one of my favorite albums of this year, but not because it’s super unique, innovative, weird, or anything like that. Instead it’s a catchy, fun, swinging, and well put together jazz record that I just can’t stop listening to. I’ve listened to this album a lot for the last few weeks ever since I found it, but I really love it. There’s not a lot here, as it’s just MacFarlane singing jazz covers, but on songs like “No Moon At All,” “It’s You Or No One,” the title track, “That Old Feeling,” “You’ll Get Yours,” “If I Were A Bell,” and a few other cuts, he sounds great. It’s a very straightforward album, but sometimes that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with that, especially when this type of music is very niche nowadays. Back in the 1940s, it was very popular, but now, you barely hear it, minus a few very important and older artists. MacFarlane is bringing it back, and I really enjoy it. He also put out a record last year with former Victorious star Liz Gillies entitled Songs From Home, and I wanted to briefly touch on that, too, because it has some great duets, such as “It’s A Good Day,” “Ain’t We Got Fun,” “Calcutta,” “Come To The Mardi Gras,” and “Peachtree Street.” Those are all great, too, and they showcase both singers very well, but they’re just jazz / standards covers, there’s nothing really too much to it. If that’s something you’re into, or you want to hear some very catchy and fun music, you might enjoy both of these records, I’d totally check them out. I love Blue Skies a lot in particular, and it’s definitely going to be on my album of the year list, that’s for sure. I’ll definitely be talking about it in some way, but I can’t get enough of this record in the best ways possible. There’s nothing wrong with a record that doesn’t have a whole lot to offer, especially when that sound is very niche and/or they execute in a very good way. MacFarlane has a killer voice, and he uses it very well here.

in the city of angels.
NAME: Josiah Carrington FACE CLAIM: Michael Evans Behling AGE & DATE OF BIRTH: 27 & October 20th, 1995 HOMETOWN: Los Angeles, California TIME IN LOS ANGELES: Born and raised NEIGHBORHOOD: Downtown Los Angeles OCCUPATION: Actor, model
biography.
trigger warning: drug use, death, mental illness
Josiah Carrington starred in his first commercial at the tender age of nine months old. With parents who found their success in Hollywood, it seemed only right to get their first son started early. The son of a movie producer and a model, his family was the Hollywood dream— an attractive young woman with her whole life ahead of her with an older, more distinguished man who made millions. And while in theory, that might work, the freedom of life called out to his mother, all while their son was locked away. From commercials came sitcoms and sitcoms brought teen dramas and it seemed that there would be no stopping the young man.
However, hitting the red carpets and being around everyone who was just older than him played its song and dance. Josiah was anxious? Pop a Xanax. Josiah was tired? Have you tried cocaine? And while the roles kept rolling in and his father’s seal of approval kept him going, Josiah was exhausted. He loved what he did, don’t get him wrong but when would enough be enough? When would the parties stop echoing in his head? When would the newest starlet he’d find in his bed be the last? In the end, the thing that brought it to a screeching halt was his mother’s untimely death.
While his mother and father had divorced and remarried new spouses a few times over, Josiah found himself close with both of them. He was a momma’s boy to say the least and while he and his father were close, they certainly didn’t have the same connection. Without the safety net of his mother, he broke down. And while breaking down was bad enough, breaking down in the public eye was another. Rehab called his name and admittedly, had somewhat of a lasting impact on him. But when he’d returned, it seemed like the limelight that he’d been so used to had shifted elsewhere. And who wanted a cast member that was twenty-four and on the verge of a breakdown at any minute? (Or so they thought.)
Now, Josiah is just trying to get back into the swing of things after taking some time off. He’d lived away from the spotlight for a year after accepting that it wasn’t on him anymore. While he’d love to say that it’s been nothing but slam dunks since his return a year ago, Josiah’s admittedly having trouble finding his footing— landing modeling gigs and only a few small roles here and there. That doesn’t mean that the Hollywood mentality doesn’t still ring in his head. Despite the rehab’s teachings, living fast and hard has always been his go-to. He figures he’s sure to blow up— whether it's in a good way or a bad, that’s yet to be seen.

Ahhhh so I literally just finished the newest episode. That ending has me screaming internally 🙃 this season is going to be a wild ride. I don't wanna post any spoilers in case anyone hasent watched it but, AHHHH we gonna need some good times coming up. And some more EZ becoming a dog dad.
I know its not gonna happen but what I would give for them to totally flip the mood of the show and just give us some fun and happy filler episodes.
A Mayans MC sitcom?? I would love to see it. Give us, and the characters, a break from the stress 😂

tagged by @hondagirll, one of my newest mutuals and newest favorite people because she respects DRR.
last song: One-Eyed Bastard by Green Day from their new album. Not my favorite but that's ok. I'm just happy they're still making music and still ripping on the USA.
currently reading: The Priory of the Orange Tree. I started this like a year ago, but it's very much not my genre and it took FOREVER to get into, but now that I'm halfway through, it's going better and I actually look forward to reading it each night. Also reading The Noise and The Signal for work, but honestly, it's something that I would probably have read on my own, so that's enjoyable. Lots of stuff about stats and predictions. Also reading Notes from an Accidental Band Geek, a YA novel about a French horn player, so obviously I have to read it, even though its not an exciting story. Also reading Parable of the Talents, the follow up to Parable of the Sower, which I wasn't supposed to start reading, but I can't help myself sometimes. Still getting into it, as it's written from a different POV than the first book, and I was very much turned off by the MC's last minute romance in Sower.
last film: Saltburn. Well, that was an experience. Took me 5 days, though with a kid, it's hard to consumer any media in a proper amount of time, but I definitely needed breaks to get through this. It's the kind of story I'd rather read, like Waugh's Brideshead Revisited or Waters' Little Stranger.
currently watching: Little Sheldon, which I connect with in that it's set in the same part of Texas where I grew up, in the late 80s, early 90s when I was a preteen/teen. I really could not stand Big Bang Theory, so I certainly didn't expect anything from this show, but TikTok kept showing me clips from it, and it's a super sweet, loving show, not a sitcom feuled by mediocre jokes and canned laughter, Sometimes (almost always), I really need a show about a loving, supportive family.
currently craving: sleep
currently consuming: nothing? it's in between lunch and snack time for me.
three ships: Obvs Doggett/Reyes, and my other main ship Paige/Alex (Degrassi), and hm... let's say GentleBeard or BlackBonnet because my beloved gay pirate show was just canceled and I loved them and thought we'd be getting one more season.
first ship: Christine/Eric from the Phantom of the Opera, probably the first piece of media I was properly obsessed with, back in high school
favourite colour: Blue? I find that I dislike this question more and more because I love so many colors.
currently working on: Should be work-working on a lifetime value project for a client, but my head is definitely in a fic instead, and I'm here on tumblr avoiding both.
tagging: @ anyone who also would like to procrastinate from what they should actually be working on.
