Logos and Pathos (Book 2) Chapter Twenty-Three
Spock x Empath! Reader
Chapter Twenty-Three: Spock's Illness
Summary: The Pon Farr has arrived, and Spock's emotions are running stronger than ever before. While the Enterprise has been ordered to head the Altair VI, Spock needs to get to Vulcan. Or else...he'll die.
Captain’s Log: The Enterprise is currently en route to Altair VI to act as representatives for the Federation at the inauguration ceremony of the planet’s new president. It should be a routine assignment, but we have to remain on schedule in order to make it to Altair VI on time.
“I guess we’ll have to wear our formal uniforms, won’t we?” remarked (Y/N) to Spock as they checked out the communications coming in from Altair VI.
Spock nodded sharply. “Yes.” He furrowed his brow and focused on his work. His skin felt hotter than usual, making him uncomfortable and on edge.
(Y/N) cocked their head. They knew Spock better than most, and they saw that he was off. “Are you alright, Spock?”
            “Of course,” replied Spock.
(Y/N)’s brow creased in worry. “Alright, if you’re sure, but if you need anything, just let me know, ‘kay?” They hand touched Spock’s arm in a comforting gesture.
Spock’s skin suddenly burned on their touch. Too many emotions flooded his senses as they neared, and Spock stood quickly, dislodging their hand. (Y/N) blinked in surprise, looking up at him. “I…I need to check on something in my quarters,” said Spock, turning and leaving.
“Alright…,” said (Y/N) hesitantly. That was weird.
l
Spock shut the door of his quarters and immediately collapsed into the nearest chair. This couldn’t be happening. Not now. He shut his eyes and gripped his shoulder where (YN) had rested their hand. It still burned with the memory of their touch. His skin was still hot, racing with emotions he struggled to get a handle on. It was unmistakable. The Pon Farr had arrived.
He needed to control it until he got to Vulcan. He’d avoid food, any visits to Sickbay that would betray his condition. Most of all, though, he couldn’t be near (Y/N). With emotions rushing through him almost uncontrollably, their presence, their touch, his feelings for them, everything would be too much. Spock would hold out until he was on Vulcan with T’Pring.
His heart sank. He knew it wouldn’t be enough. T’Pring wouldn’t be enough. She was intelligent, efficient, and the model Vulcan, but she wasn’t (Y/N). Spock’s heart longed for them. Spock loved them. And all he could pine for was them.
But Spock wouldn’t push them. He wouldn’t confess under the pressure of the Pon Farr. He wouldn’t push his emotions onto them. He wouldn’t do that to them. It wouldn’t be fair to (Y/N).
So Spock would hide, keep to himself until he could handle the situation.
l
Three days later…
“Hey, (L/N), Jim and I were just discussing something and we thought you could give us some input,” said Bones.
(Y/N) paused in their walk down the corridor and turned back to the men. “What is it?” they asked.
“Well, it’s Spock. Have you noticed anything strange about him recently?” said Kirk.
“He’s become increasingly restive. If he were not a Vulcan, I’d almost say ‘nervous.’ Not to mention he’s avoiding food. I checked, and he hasn’t eaten in three days,” said Bones. “Jim thinks he’s just in a ‘contemplative phase,’ but I’m not sure.”
“I’d agree with the Captain if it wasn’t for what happened three days ago,” admitted (Y/N). “Spock’s been evasive and short with people. I know he’s Vulcan, but Spock’s never been rude to people.”
“He’s been avoiding you?” said Jim incredulously. He exchanged a worried glance with Bones. Now that was a bad sign. “Well, we can’t have that. (L/N), I vote you try to talk to him.”
“Me? But sir, I’m the one he seems to be avoiding,” pointed out (Y/N).
“Yeah, but you’re also the only person he’s likely to listen to when he’s acting strange,” said Bones. Oblivious.
“Well…I can try,” murmured (Y/N), trying not to disappoint them.
Bones and Kirk ushered (Y/N) towards Spock’s door. They glanced at them nervously, but the men urged them forward. (Y/N) cleared their throat and knocked on the door.
There was a pause before Spock spoke from inside. “Who is it?” His tone was rushed and clipped.
            “(Y/N),” they replied.
“I—I cannot come to the door,” said Spock, his voice strained.
“Spock, we—I’m worried about you,” said (Y/N).
“I am fine,” said Spock sharply. “Leave me be.”
“I’m serious, Spock. We can all tell you’re not yourself. Something’s wrong, and we want to hel—”
The door slid open, and an unusually frazzled-looking Spock was revealed. He stared at (Y/N), brows furrowed. “I do not need help.” His eyes rose to Kirk and Bones, who stood a few steps behind (Y/N). “And if I need it, I’ll ask for it. I don’t need people prying!” He took a deep breath and stared at Kirk. In a much more composed voice, Spock said, “Captain…I should like to request a leave of absence on my home planet. On our present course, you can divert to Vulcan with a loss of but 2.8 light-days.”
“Spock, what is this about?” said (Y/N), pressing once more.
Spock barely had the strength to keep his issues quiet at the kind look in their eyes. Oh, how he wanted to tell them everything spill how deeply it hurt for his very being to sing to be near them without being able to take them into his arms. But Spock wouldn’t push his rampant emotions onto them. It would be wrong in the moment; he was too out of control.
“I…have made my request,” said Spock stiffly. “All that I require is that the Captain answer it, yes or no.”
“Alright, Spock. I’ll give you an answer. But first I need to ask you a few questions, and you will give me answers,” said Kirk. “It’s that or nothing.”
Spock’s jaw tensed. “Very well.” He let Kirk go inside, and then the door slid closed. Outside, Bones and (Y/N) exchanged worried and confused looks.
l
“Did you have any luck?” asked (Y/N) as Kirk arrived back on the Bridge.
He sighed. “He indicated it was a personal matter, that was all. We are diverting briefly to Vulcan, though. Clearly, Spock needs to get there. I won’t deny him it; he’s my friend. But I have sent him to Bones for medical observation in case something else is wrong.”
“Alright.” (Y/N) nodded, but their concern for Spock didn’t abate. Something was wrong, and it was killing them not to know what. They wanted to help him.
“Captain, something’s coming on the Starfleet channel,” reported Uhura. “Priority and urgent, sir. Message complete but recorded.”
“Put it on audio over here, Lieutenant,” said Kirk.
The computer buzzed. “To: Captain, USS Enterprise. From: Starfleet, Sector Nine. Inauguration ceremonies on Altair VI have been advanced seven solar days. You are ordered to altar your flight plan as filed to accommodate. By order of Komack, Admiral, Starfleet Command. Acknowledge.”
(Y/N) thought worriedly about Spock. That would mean he couldn’t make it to Vulcan.
“Lieutenant Uhura, acknowledge that message,” said Kirk.
            “Aye, aye, sir,” said Uhura.
“Mr. Chekov, compute trajectory and speed necessary for compliance,” ordered Kirk.
“We’ll have to head directly there at warp 6, sir,” said Chekov. “Insufficient time to stop at Vulcan.”
“Head directly for Altair VI,” said Kirk.
l
“Jim, you’ve got to get Spock to Vulcan,” said Bones, rushing onto the Bridge, his expression grim and urgent.
“After we get to Altair VI and have the inauguration ceremony, I’ll get him there immediately,” said Kirk, standing.
Bones gripped his arm and pulled him to the side near (Y/N). “No, Jim, now. If you don’t get him to Vulcan within a week, he’ll die! He’ll die, Jim.”
“He’ll what?” asked (Y/N), horrified. “Why?”
“I don’t know,” admitted Bones. “There’s a growing imbalance of body functions. As if, in our bodies, huge amounts of adrenaline were constantly being pumped into our bloodstreams. Now, I can’t trace it down in my bio-comps. Spock won’t tell me what it is. But if it isn’t stopped somehow, the physical and emotional pressures will simply kill him.”
Why hasn’t he asked me to help? I could try to help control his emotions, thought (Y/N) desperately.
“You say you’re convinced he knows what it is?” said Kirk.
“He does,” confirmed Bones. “And he’s as tight-lipped about it as an Aldebaran Shellmouth.” Kirk headed towards the door. “No use to ask him, Jim. He won’t talk.”
“Oh, I’ll make him,” said Kirk.
(Y/N) and Bones exchanged worried looks.
l
Kirk entered Spock’s quarters and stalked straight up to him. “Bones has given me his medical evaluation of your condition. He says you’re going to die unless something is done. What?” Spock looked down at his hands. “Is it something only your planet can do for you?” Spock didn’t answer and tried to return to his paperwork, but Kirk grabbed his wrist. “Spock!” He gasped as he felt the Vulcan shaking. “You’ve been called the best First Officer in the fleet. That’s an enormous asset to me. If I have to lose that First Officer, I want to know why.”
Spock stood and began pacing with nervous energy. “It is a thing no outworlder may know…except those very few who have been involved. A Vulcan understands, but even we do not speak of it among ourselves. It is a deeply personal thing. Can you see that, Captain, and understand?”
“No, I do not understand,” said Kirk. “Explain. Consider that an order.”
“Captain, there are some things that transcend even the discipline of the service,” said Spock.
“Would it help if I told you that I’ll treat this as totally confidential unless someone else has to become involved?” asked Kirk.
Spock nodded curtly and steeled himself before continuing. “It has to do with…biology.”
            “What?” questioned Kirk.
            “Biology,” repeated Spock.
“What kind of biology?” asked Kirk.
            “Vulcan biology.”
“You mean the biology of Vulcans?” Spock nodded. “Biology as in…reproduction?” Spock nodded again. “Well…there’s no need to be embarrassed about it, Mr. Spock. It happens to the birds and the bees.”
“The birds and the bees are not Vulcan, Captain,” said Spock. “If they were—if any creature as proudly logical as us were to have their logic…ripped from them as this time does to us…” He shook his head and crossed his arms. “How do you assume Vulcans choose their mates?”
“I guess the rest of us assume that it’s done…quite logically,” said Kirk. But I know that’s not the truth, since you’re completely in love with (L/N), who is your complete opposite.
“No,” said Spock quietly. “No, it is not.” Not only is my heart unguided by logic, but I am affected by this as well. “We shield it with ritual and custom shrouded in antiquity.” He sighed. “You humans have no conception. It strips our minds from us. It brings a madness which rips away our veneer of civilization. It is the Pon Farr. The time of mating. There are precedents in nature, Captain. The giant eel-birds of Regulus V. Once each eleven years, they must return to the caverns where they hatched. On your earth—salmon. They must return to that one stream where they were born….to spawn or die in trying.”
“But you’re not a fish, Mr. Spock, you’re…” Kirk trailed off.
“No…nor am I a man,” said Spock. “I’m a Vulcan. I had hoped I would be spared this, but the ancient drives are too strong. Eventually, they catch up to us, and we are driven by forces we cannot control to return home…and take a spouse…or die.”
Kirk sucked in a breath. “That’s why you’re avoiding (L/N).” Spock’s head jerked up, surprised Kirk understood his reasoning. Kirk shrugged in response. “Spock, it’s kind of obvious you’re…in love with them.”
            “It…is?” asked Spock hesitantly.
“Not to everyone. Don’t worry, your reputation is safe,” assured Kirk. “But Bones and I definitely know, and I think Scotty and Uhura know, too.”
            “Ah.” Spock shifted.
Kirk’s gaze grew serious again. “But this ‘Pon Farr’ thing, it is why you’re avoiding (L/N), isn’t it?”
            “Yes,” admitted Spock.
“Because you’re worried you’re going to…what? Hurt them? Spock, I doubt you can even fathom the idea of hurting (L/N),” said Kirk.
“It is not that simple,” said Spock, crossing his arms uncomfortably. “The Pon Farr means I lack my normal control. While I would never hurt (Y/N), I…I could force my feelings onto them. And if I were to admit my…affections, it would be under duress, and (Y/N) wouldn’t accept them because there is always that possibility that I am simply acting on instinct, and even if they felt the same way towards me, they wouldn’t take advantage of my…condition like that.”
Kirk nodded in agreement. “No, they’re too kind for that.” He crossed his arms. “But you should tell them what’s happening.”
“If I tell them, they will ask to help regulate my emotions with their empathy,” said Spock. “And in my state…”
“You’re worried you’ll confess your undying love for them in an undignified manner,” said Kirk, waving a hand. “I know, I know. But I still think you should tell them. If not for you, then for them. You should see how worried they are.”
            “I will…consider it,” said Spock.
Kirk nodded. “Good.” He walked towards the door. “And Spock.” The Vulcan looked up. “I’ll get you to Vulcan. If you really can’t get any help from (L/N) and this is the only way, I’ll make sure you get there.”
“Thank you, Captain,” said Spock. After the door slid closed again behind Kirk, Spock rested a hand on his forehead. The fever of Pon Farr was raging through him, bringing so many emotions to the surface that he desperately tried to control. If he didn’t get to Vulcan soon…Spock didn’t want to think of that possibility.

Haytham having a breakdown from all the shit he went through with his sister, Jim and Birch and his fem!s/o comforting him? he just needs to cry, scream and get all that grief out
Thank you for your request anon!
A/N - honestly EVERY SINGLE one of them needs to, down to the whole family line starting with Altair
Tumblr media
If he were to ever cry; first, it’s a rarity in it’s own way because Haytham and feelings are an unlikely duo.
And then second, don’t tell anyone else you’ve seen him like this. He couldn’t bear anyone else learning this side of him.
The most you could do for him now is just be there for him.
No empty promises, just comfort and whatever reassurances the remnants of a steel heart can salvage.
It’s pitiful, it’s tragically beautiful but you’re at a loss of what to say.
Gut-wrenching cries and sobs that can only be ripped from the depths of where one’s soul and heart are. Or what’s left of it.
You place a gentle hand on broad shaking shoulders.
There’s little you know of his background but from the scraps you heard in passing, there’s a cold air of loss that perpetually surrounds this man.
The tear drops decorate your shoulder in splotches where he’s hidden his face.
Murmurs of names unfamiliar to you chip away at your exterior because of how Haytham says them. You didn’t know there were others he held close to him.

My little money bag is empty. I thought about it, but I didn't expect it to come so soon.
Medical supplies... consume furniture... food and other miscellaneous items still need to be bought... This makes Xiyou's wallet even worse once again
Just at a loss, she suddenly remembered when she was chatting with Jim before, he mentioned that the annual competition of Eagle Trainers was coming soon! They will train their eagles to catch wild rabbits in competitions, and the top three people who catch the most will receive a reward of 100 euros!
Although she is not an eagle trainer, she has eagle companions

Jim was fascinated by abandoned buildings. For years, he has been turning his small hobby into a lifestyle, now slowly becoming his livelihood. Next on his list was an abandoned factory on the outskirts of a small Polish town.
He could explore them during the day, but the night gave them a certain thrill, becoming more than just forgotten and crumbling walls, sad in the daylight. During nighttime, they stood proudly, forgotten because they were too much, not because they weren't enough.
Besides, the night videos got better views.
He was alone this time, his cameraman puking his guts in their hotel room from an enchilada Jim told him looked suspicious. The bastard never listens. Going alone for some extra footage sounded better than watching him vomit anyway.
He scaled the fence and looked around for the best points of entrance. A cow painting, chipping away in the moonlight, smiled at him. The articles he found told him it used to be a dairy factory until the safety regulations changed and shut it down. The ex-workers were too old to track down and asking around town didn’t give him much more than the disappointing information that most of the equipment was sold to afford the last paychecks. So he didn’t expect much more than bare walls and some disturbing cow paintings.
The main entrance was secured with a heavy padlock, but he found a ground-level window big enough to slide through. The iron bars were old and came off easily with a crowbar and the window itself was barely holding to its frame anyway.
He appeared in what had to be the locker room. Whatever wasn’t worth taking didn’t make it out of the factory - benches with missing boards, lockers with broken doors, a pile of work uniforms.
He was glad to find the door to the hall outside unlocked, meaning most of the rooms might be open and ready for his prying eyes. Aside from two locker rooms, the underground level seemed to be holding two bathrooms and a mess hall. Knowing his audience’s love for the liminal spaces, he was happy to get some footage there, considering most of the tables and chairs were left as they were. Probably too old and not up to regulations enough to be reused. He took some wide shots of the abandoned space, once lived in, but now empty, forgotten without a second thought. Then he moved further, past the tables and the serving counter, into the deconstructed kitchen.
A lot of the equipment was still there, although barely recognizable in its new shape - stacked on top of each other in the middle of the room. Above it - a painting of a looming figure, like the ovens and pans and microwave were an altair in its honor. It seemed like good old fashioned vandalism, but he hadn't seen anything else disturbed, which would be unlikely if a group of people with spray paint broke in. Besides, he didn't see any of the entrances disturbed.
But upon closer inspection the paint turned out to be a stain of black mold, making Jim flinch away in disgust. He turned the camera towards it, a funny quip at the back of his tongue.
The stain was gone.
He lowered the camera, but the lens change didn't do anything, the stain was still missing. The wall didn't hold much more than the usual kitchen stains. He looked around as if the mold could have just moved to a different corner.
But something did move on the edge of his periphery. He whipped his head towards it yet found nothing. Just the shadows cast by the flashlight he was holding. The shadows, the black spots in the corner, that seemed to be breathing.
And then suddenly the darkness started gathering into one place. He took a step back.
The room got lighter when the shadows concentrated, layering on top of each other until they became tangible. The looming painting from before suddenly stood before him, with a body of shadows and mold. He stumbled back, running into a forgotten chair, bruising his shin.
He hurried to put it between himself and the shadowy being. He aimed the flashlight at it, hoping to disperse it into nothingness, but the light only gave it more shape.
“Hungry.”
Its voice stuck to Jim’s ears like a sticky residue on a kitchen table. He panicked, expecting to become a meal for a monster from a horror movie. Desperately, he rummaged through his pockets and found the chocolate bar he brought with him.
“Uh, you want a Snickers?”
The shadow mellowed. Jim couldn’t say what exactly changed in its appearance, but it felt appeased.
“Mars?”
“Sorry, I only have this, but I can get you one next time?” he offered.
The shadow nodded, somehow, and snatched the chocolate bar from his hand. Its touch was clammy and cold, sending a shiver across Jim’s body. He watched the chocolate crumble in its grasp, turning black and moldy before disintegrating into the creature’s body.
Could it do the same thing to him?
“More.”
He saw an opportunity and decided to take it.
“I’ll go now and bring you some more. Do you want a Mars bar? Maybe some peanuts? A burger? I’ll get you anything you want,” he offered, stepping back slowly.
“Stay,” the shadow asked instead, following him. Jim, inevitably, backed himself into a counter. It was sticky to the touch and so was the air around him.
“Hungry,” the shadow repeated.
“I’ll get you anything-”
A shadowy limb reached towards him. He craned his body away, but it was unrelenting and its clammy, disgusting fingers finally reached his face. He could feel it sticking to his cheeks and with a cold shock of horror, he realized there was mold spreading on his skin.
“No, wait-” He made the mistake of opening his mouth, letting the mold, sticky, and tasting of soil, enter his body. It coated him from the inside, until he couldn’t breathe anymore, until earth and sickly sweetness was all he could taste and smell. Soon his vision got coated with dark mist too, and he couldn’t move, his body covered in and out in the black mold. It crawled down the walls to blend with him into one. He blinked and blinked watching the mold move over his palms until his skin started showing again. The mold was crawling deeper and deeper inward, filling his organs until he looked completely normal outside, but felt full on the inside. Specks of mold littered the edges of his vision, and when he looked at his reflection in the window, he could see that his tongue was black.
Hungry, the mold said in his brain, the voice misplaced from his usual thoughts, coming from a different direction than he was used to. It roamed freely inside his body, nudging his legs to move, scavenge, and consume.
He walked outside the building, finally free, finally not alone. The moist inside kept him safe from the dry night air and the trip back wasn't long anyway. The faint smell of vomit guided him until he stood in front of his friend, pale in the face and sweaty. Deliciously weakened.
"Hungry."

@hxzelwallflower said ; Is it Jim's weekly break down time again ??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually he's been venting his concerns to Altair as of late and it's really helped to— hey, now, what's that supposed to mean? Weekly? Give him some credit! Twice a month, at most. Typically, anyhow.

Chapter 2: The Rebels
It wasn't long before the liberation of Necromas' territory was underway. The Dawn members acted with great haste, removing workers from the camps and getting them into proper homes, medical treatment, food, whatever they needed and apprehending any of Necromas' remaining forces that were refusing to surrender. It was a slow process but it was something wonderful to see nonetheless.
Especially for The Dawn's leader, Admiral Nari Wong.
Nari smiled as she observed all the activities going on around her, doing her part of making sure everything stayed orderly and provided aid when she could.
I'm just happy we finally got another place liberated. Finally making more dents in the Ecliptic Claw's territory.
"And then, SHINK! The mane came clean off!"
"Whoa…"
Nari turned her attention over to a group of liberated camp workers who were talking over an open fire and meal. More specifically, a young one of the bunch seemed to be telling some kind of story.
"What happened after that?" one of the worker's asked.
"After that, Leonideas declared the territory was no longer Necromas' or the Ecliptic Claw's then just walked off after letting out a huge roar. I don't know how he did that but it was amazing and chilling at the same time."
Nari gave a flat look at the mention of Leonideas' name.
Ah… That explains why the raid worked out so well. Our old lion friend.
Nari sighed, shaking her head.
She didn't hate Leonideas. Far from it. However… he was a little annoying in her eyes... and a pain at times. Mainly in the fact no matter how many times they had tried, he had never sworn allegiance to The Dawn. He was fine with helping them but he didn't want to be affiliated with them. For some reason. He never disclosed why.
Regardless, Leonideas had been a huge help to The Dawn in recent times but Nari couldn't help but be weary about the man. A man who only follows his own motives was something to be cautious about. After all, said motives could possibly one day conflict with theirs.
For now… she was grateful for the time being he was useful to them.
Let's just hope it stays that way.
"Admiral Wong."
Nari looked to the side to see two soldiers approaching her. They gave a salute before speaking again.
"We've received word from King Solleo of Aurorias that Princess Elara is on her way to the planet to provide resources and aid to our cause."
"Ah, perfect. Please keep an eye for her ship then and ensure she arrives here safely. Last thing we need is the Ecliptic Claw getting their hands on her. When she has arrived, please bring her to me right away."
The soliders saluted again.
"Ma'am, yes, Ma'am!"
Nari smiled, nodding.
"You two are dismissed."
Both left without another word, leaving Nari to her work.
A liberated dome and a new source of relief on the way.
Nari chuckled
Today is a good day.
oooooo
The outside world of the domes was a mystery to many. Some wondered if it was just as bad as the insides of the domes or if it was better. No one was really sure… except for those who did roam the outside areas. Be it members of The Dawn… or those hiding in the shadows, going about their services in their own ways. Having goals of their own to tend to.
Unlike popular rumors of those in the domes, the Earth outside was beautiful. Lush vegetation, clean air and skies that at the moment of time were a beautiful gradient of orange and red. As much damage as the Ecliptic Claw had done to the spirits of those who inhabited the Earth, they had in an odd way helped the planet heal from some man made causes.
The young alien hummed to herself as she led a group of Pantherians, young and old in a straight line. Where they were going, they weren't sure but as far they knew, the bug like alien had promised they would be safe. As did her human companion.
Her six legs had a rhythm to them as she continued on, twirling her staff a bit.
"Gotta say, Leonideas really put on a show today, don't ya think Jim?" the alien asked her human companion.
Jim nodded, folding his arms behind his head.
"Oh yeah, never fails to show who's boss. Though…" There was a glint in his eye. "He's gonna be hearing about those claw marks on his back from his medic."
The alien girl brought a hand over her mouth, trying not to laugh too loud before leaning in close to Jim, whispering to him so the Pantherians behind them couldn't hear.
"Are you gonna need a big needle?"
Jim chuckled.
"Maybe, Laika, maybe."
Jim stumbled a bit as a young Pantherian tugged at his arm.
"Mr. Human?" They asked, their tail swishing. "Where are we going?"
Jim gave a gentle look, patting their head, giving a small scratch behind the ears.
"Somewhere where you will all be safe from the Ecliptic Claw and from… not so accepting members of The Dawn."
Laika frowned at this.
"Hate the fact we have to do this with that second factor in mind but… given what's going on right now…"
Jim sighed.
"Yeah, just better to be safe than sorry."
They soon came upon an opening in the ground that had a set of stairs in it. At the bottom of those stairs, was a warp panel.
Jim and Laika turned to the Pantherians.
"This will take you to a hidden base on the moon." Jim explained. "After you pass through this portal, there is no returning to Earth for a while. It is your choice if you wish to stay here or to go."
Jim and Laika stepped aside, waiting to see how the group would respond. It was a moment before Pantherians started to walk up to the warp panel. One by one they disappeared from site. Laika and Jim made note that only a few had decided to not go. They didn't chase them though. Their choice was theirs and they wanted to respect that.
Soon, it was just the two of them… well, so to speak.
Laika looked around before making a chirping noise.
"Here, Kiwi!"
A kiwi bird emerged from a hiding spot, scurrying over to her, making its way onto her shoulder. Laika smiled, nuzzling the bird.
"There you are. Keep the portal nice and safe for us?"
"Chirp!"
"That's my girl."
Jim chuckled, before looking around, making clicking noises with his tongue.
"Abyss! Here kitty!"
It was a minute or so before a black cat with long fluffy fur emerged from its hiding spot, its yellow green eyes glimmering a bit in the dark setting. The cat ran straight up to Jim, nuzzling his legs.
"There's my boy." Jim stroked the cat's fur. "Kept Kiwi out of trouble?"
"Mew!"
"Oh haha." Laika smirked. "More like my Kiwi kept Abyss out of trouble."
"... Point taken." Jim lifted Abyss into his arms. "Regardless, they got each other's backs."
"Just like we have each other's backs."
"Yup… Now, just need to find Xross."
"You rang?"
Laika and Jim looked to the staircase, seeing a young man dressed in clothes with purple glowing designs and a cloak on over it. His purple eyes glinted with mischief as he approached them.
"There's our man of the hour." Jim chuckled, placing a hand on his shoulder once he was close enough. "Holding up alright, Xross?"
"Yeah. Necromas wasn't too bad. Only thing that currently hates me is my back." Xross gave a sheepish look. "Speaking of, think you could…?"
"Let's set up a camp then I'll work on treating ya."
"I'll get the campfire ready!" Laika grinned, hurrying out. "We're gonna feast tonight!"
Jim chuckled.
"She's been going on and on about us having Martian fish soup. Should've seen how excited she got when she was able to buy some Martian fish at the market."
"Ah, I see." Xross grinned. "Well, I look forward to trying it."
"Me too, but first, let's treat that back of yours."
Xross gave a nod, following Jim out of the opening in the ground.
Laika was already busy at work setting up a small fire and a cook pot. She hummed to herself as she got her ingredients together, Kiwi setting up her tools for her.
"Med bed is ready for use." Laika pointed to a bed roll that wasn't too far from her set up. "Do as you please."
"Thank you." Jim nodded, shedding off his back pack. "Alright, Xross, let's see the damage."
Xross nodded, removing his cloak, shirt and chest plate before lying down on the bed roll on his stomach.
"Do your worst, Bro."
Jim smirked, examining Xross' back.
Xross had done a quick patch job with some gauze and tape over the claw marks, both soaked in quite a bit of blood. Jim carefully removed them, getting a better look at the injuries. They weren't deep, thankfully, but there were some minor burns and slight skin irritation.
"Okay, not too bad. A quick disinfectant should do the trick on the burns and irritation. No stitches this time… save maybe for your battle clothes."
"Already fixed them up." Xross closed his eyes, grinning. "Nano sewing bots make clothing repair so easy."
"That they do." Jim smirked, digging into his backpack and pulling out his tools, getting to work. "Though I hope you're not saying that just to make me feel good about my little inventions."
"I'm serious." Xross had a glint in his eyes. "I wouldn't swipe them for no good reason."
"I'd like them back once I'm done with treating you here. My little bots should not be anywhere near battlefields."
"Hey! I kept them safe-"
Jim gave Xross a small poke on one of the claw marks.
"Ow!"
"Says the guy who was near fire and could've gotten mauled by a Pantherian if he wasn't careful."
"I won, didn't I?"
Jim rolled his eyes, finishing up his treatment on Xross' back.
"Next time, just leave the bots with me and I'll patch everything when you get back, okay?"
Xross sighed, shaking his head.
"Alright, alright, fair enough. I know how much you value your babies."
"Yup and done." Jim put his tools away, dusting off his hands.
Xross sat up, quickly slipping his shirt, chest armor and cloak back on.
"Thank you."
"Anytime. Now, you better rest for the day and give those claw marks time to heal."
"Mew!"
Abyss climbed up into Xross' lap, purring loudly.
"And Abyss here is gonna make sure of that."
Xross chuckled, scratching the cat behind his ears.
"Oh, yeah. No on dares defy the cat on lap rule. Besides, a rest sounds great right now. I love helping people as Leonideas but right now, I just wanna be Xross and relax for a bit."
"Sounds good to me." Jim sat down next to him. "We can kick more Ecliptic Claw butts another day."
"Exactly."
They looked over to Laika, seeing she was busy at work, her and Kiwi dancing a bit as they worked around the cookpot.
"Hey, Lai Lai, how long till we feast?" Xross asked.
"Gonna need another hour." She kept her eyes on the pot. "Gotta cook the fish just right to get all the juices and such. It's gonna be good." Her mouth watered. "I haven't had this in years and I hope I can make it just as good as Mama does."
"I'm sure you will." Jim smiled. "If you need any help don't be afraid to ask."
"Thanks but I got this." Laika giggled. "You two relax."
"Very well."
"If you insist."
The three sat in silence. Well, mostly silence, save Laika's humming of Martian songs and Kiwi chirping along with her and Abyss' purring. Xross and Jim got lost in looking up at the sky, counting stars as they started to appear.
"I'm at 299, you?" Xross asked.
"500." Jim smirked. "501… 502…"
"Oh shut it."
Xross focused on trying to count faster, tuning everything else out. His concentration broke however as he saw a light streak across the sky. His eyes widened as he saw it increase in size, the streak making its way down the sky.
"You seeing this?" Xross asked.
"I am." Jim got up.
Abyss hopped out of Xross' lap as he stood up as well. Laika looked to the sky, her eyes wide with wonder.
"A shooting star?" she asked.
"Maybe?" Jim narrowed his eyes. "It's still going too."
The streak soon came to the horizon line, its size indicating it was close to their location. There was a loud boom and shaking as it hit the ground, a flash of light in the distance.
"I… don't think that was a comet." Xross looked upward, noting two other streaks of light in the sky. Spaceship streaks. "... I gotta check it out."
Xross dug into his backpack, pulling out what looked like a headset with lion ears on it. He slipped it on, tapping a button as his lion helmet appeared over his head and face. Without another word, he bolted towards the crash sight.
"H-Hey! Xross!" Jim yelled, chasing after him. "Wait for me!"
Laika stayed where she was, Kiwi and Abyss standing by her sides. She shook her head, focusing on the cookpot again.
"And thus another night for this rag tag team..."

Miscellaneous things about the first half of Amok Time that I love:
Initially, Spock won’t tell Jim what’s wrong. He asks Jim for leave, that he needs rest and needs it on Vulcan. He asks Jim to accept that’s all he will say. Jim does and alters course to Vulcan. At this point the Altair ceremony is still over a week away, and a 2.8 day delay is not a problem at all, but I love how respectful Jim is of Spock’s privacy. He pries at first and even has a little angry outburst, but calms himself down almost immediately and stops asking when Spock explicitly asks him to.
The ceremony has been advanced 7 days. They don’t have time to go to Vulcan. Jim obviously doesn’t like it much, and takes the time to comfort Spock about it: he offers sympathy, he jokes, he reassures Spock he’ll get his leave ASAP. It’s palpable how much he cares.
That night, Jim can’t sleep. He comms the bridge to ask how late they’ll be if they do divert to Vulcan real quick: this thing Spock won’t even really tell him about is more important to him than obeying direct orders. Remember he has no idea it’s life or death here yet. He just knows that Spock wouldn’t have asked like that and been so secretive if it wasn’t really important.
Jim here finds out that Spock has already ordered a change of course. Jim’s obviously pissed, it’s all over his body language, but he’s uncharacteristically calm when he confronts Spock about it. He knows something is very wrong here. Spock tells him he doesn’t remember changing course, but believes Jim when Jim tells him he’s done it. Jim believes Spock doesn’t remember without a second thought. Again he asks what’s going on once, and no more after Spock tells him to stop asking.
Jim does order Spock to go to sickbay, but can you blame him? Memory loss? Really? Something is clearly very wrong with Spock’s health. He makes it an order in order to get Spock’s cooperation, but his wish for Spock to get a physical comes from a place of concern. If Spock won’t take care of himself, Jim will force him to.
Bones does his physical. Jim now knows Spock will die in 8 days if they don’t get to Vulcan. He immediately goes to ask again what’s happening, and he justifies it by saying, after the smallest hesitation, that it’s because Spock is an enormous asset to him. He doesn’t know Spock’s logic is impaired, and he thinks this might be the easiest way to get through to him: it’s unemotional, practical reasoning, to appeal to Spock’s logical side.
Spock replies that’s it’s too personal. Jim orders him to explain. This is the second angle that would normally work with Spock: if not logic, then duty. Spock refuses, says some things transcend duty. Jim changes tactic, he says he will keep it completely confidential: this is a different angle, based on trust and friendship. Spock finally caves here, and tells him everything. It’s fascinating, isn’t it, that Spock won’t answer to logic or duty, but he will answer to a personal request from Jim, to the promise this secret stays between the two of them.
Jim asks Komack permission to go to Vulcan, but refuses to explain or even hint at why, keeping the promise he made to Spock. The word is no: Jim is therefore doing it anyway. When they hear the no, Bones is like “welp, that’s it then” but Jim immediately replies “no it’s not.” Immediately. He has his motives: there’s two other ships going to altair, nothing will really happen if they’re one day late, but Bones is adamant that Jim will get fired if he disobeys. Jim doesn’t care. He knows, he didn’t need Bones to tell him, he’d already made up his mind.
Basically, just Jim caring for Spock an insane amount already, to the point that the first half of the episode to me is almost more homoerotic than the second. Jim’s big sacrifice of the Enterprise in SFS is already here in “Lay in a course for Vulcan. Tell Engineering I want warp eight or better. Push her for all she’ll take.” and “I owe him my life a dozen times over. Isn’t that worth a career?”

Fixed stars in natal charts (mega post)
There are many fixed stars but these are only a few, check the planets and angles they are conjunct with. Fixed stars can only be conjunct as stars do not cast out rays, they usually only allow an orb of 0°-2.50°. Any other aspect to it is only meant to enhance or hinder the conjunction, Fixed stars in charts add more tension but result in a stronger individual. These descriptions should be taken with a grain of salt.

Concept: TOS Spock’s birthday is January 6, and TOS Bones’ birthday is loosely assumed to be January 20 (DeForest Kelley’s birthday), so Jim insists on having a joint birthday celebration.
The party just turns into an impassioned three-hour debate on the purpose and value of celebrating birthdays as ritual and renewal vs. the illogic of celebrating something you had no control over, representing no particular achievement (Bones mutters that keeping Spock and Jim alive for an entire year is a tremendous achievement, actually). Everyone else just drinks and dances around them. Finally, the debate winds down, Spock and Bones share a drink (one Altair water, one bourbon), thank everyone for coming, and leave.
When Jim is approached by other crewmen with concern that Spock and Bones weren’t able to enjoy their own birthday party, he just smiles.
“Actually,” he says, “that was what they both wanted.”

I was born for this by esama (Assassin’s Creed | Altair x Desmond | M)
Juno did her best to lead him to her preferred fate, but the end is coming and Desmond has doubts.
A Fic With A Premise That Shouldn’t Work But Does:
Proposing To Strangers by moonstalker24 (Teen Wolf | Peter x Stiles | G)
At the end of a strained relationship, crime novelist Stiles chooses to hide from the world inside a bar with far too many motorcycles outside it for comfort. Here he'll meet the man of his dreams, eat food and propose marriage, all within the first five minutes.
Peter doesn't know who this kid is, but he's cute and looks like he could use a break. So he feeds him. He's not expecting a marriage proposal, but with what comes after, he doesn't really mind.
A Fic You’ve Reread Several Times:
Hooverville by twothumbsandnostakeincanon (Teen Wolf | Peter x Stiles | E)
Town to town, train to train, tent to tent.
By 1932, the dust had begun to blow and the jobs were gone.
Anonymity was a byproduct of looking for work, which made it both necessary and convenient.
Stiles had enough secrets of his own to know to look the other way when he saw something that shouldn’t be possible.
The ghost of a tail giving enough balance to disembark a moving train.
Near silent Latin whispered on the edge of a tent encampment.
A flash of burning eyes.
He had more than enough to worry about without adding the oddities of others, and besides- having unusually sharp teeth certainly didn’t make a man worse than the ones running from the wife and kids they couldn’t feed.
So Stiles kept his observations to himself. He kept his everything to himself.
Until he met a man. One with eyes so blue they seemed to glow- and then they did.
Stiles tried to look away, but for the first time he was stopped.
“Don’t be like that sweetheart. Aren’t you curious?”
A Fic You Still Remember Many Years Later:

Nose to the Wind by Batsutousai (HP | Tom x Harry | M)

A Fic You Associate With A Song (x2):
Strange Duet by BelleAmante, thiliart (thilia) (Teen Wolf | Peter x Stiles | M)
The past three years have been a series of shocking, or not so shocking, successes for 2018 Tony award winner and two time Grammy nominee, Stiles Stilinski. You don’t typically find classically trained opera singers singing alternative folk rock to crowds at Coachella. Nor do you find indie singer/songwriters winning best actor awards at the Tony’s for their Broadway debuts. Stilinski has made it his lifetime habit to defy and exceed all expectations.

It had been a slash across her chest from a White Walker’s sword that finally ended her life. Sansa’d landed in a puddle of her own blood, and she’d died quickly, quietly.

A Fic You Stayed Up Too Late To Finish Reading:
Of Dwobbits, Dragons and Dwarves by ISeeFire (The Hobbit | Fem!Bilbo x Fili | T)
Bilba has been a slave her entire life. All she knows of the outside world is what she sees from time to time outside the gates of Moria and the stories her mother used to tell her. Stories of a place called the Shire where her mother once lived and a placed called Erebor where, as far as she knows, her father still lives. Stories of dragons a thousand times larger, and more intelligent, than the beasts the orcs rode and of a strange concept called freedom where one was allowed to live as they wished with no one to tell them what they could, or could not do.
The stories meant little to Bilba. The only future she had was to live, and die, as a slave as countless number had before her.
And then the orcs dragged an injured female firedrake through the gates, her rider screaming obscenities behind her as he fought to reach her side...and everything changed.

Chapter 3: Princess Elara
The last thing Elara recalled was the sound of an explosion as the engine of her ship was hit. Her crew members all shouted in alarm as they found themselves on a crash course for the planet they were heading to. It was supposed to be smooth sailing to deliver Elara to Admiral Wong but that was all dashed with the appearance of two Ecliptic Claw battleships.
What was happening now, was very unclear to the half conscious princess.
Her bright amber eyes opened weakly as she tried to piece together her current situation. Smoke met her nostrils, causing her face to contort. There were fires around her, her ship completely in ruin. She could see members of her crew lying limp over their control panels, the captain in particular lying limp at his command station, some blood pooling around his head.
Oh no.
Elara tried to move but her body refused to, her muscles strained from the trauma of the crash. By some stroke of luck nothing had fallen on her nor had she been thrown from her chair.
Probably thanks to the restraints but still…
Elara went cold as she glanced at her crew members once more. As far as she could tell, none of them were alive. She was the sole survivor of the crash.
“Search the ship for the princess!” She heard a voice from outside shout. “Kedaaron wants her whether she’s alive or not!”
Elara’s heart began to pound, her hands shaking. She tried to get herself to move again but her body still refused to. Everything was sore and frozen in place.
“Come on… move…” She muttered, wincing at her muscles' complaints. “I… I gotta…”
Elara’s body froze even more as she heard the sound of metal being bent and glass breaking.
No no no no no!
Elara tried even harder to move from where she was but to no avail. Her body was too weak and her head was starting to throb with the smoke intoxicating her mind. Things were starting to go black. She tried to fight against it but the more she fought, the more tired she became.
Just as things went black, she heard the sound of a lion roar, soon followed by silence as she slumped over in her chair.
oooooo
It was only a matter of moments before Xross found himself locked in battle with three Ecliptic Claw soldiers. They were grunts, nothing he couldn’t handle on his own.
They came charging at him, electrified claws ready to strike. Once they were close, Xross acted quickly, giving a quick swipe of his claws, throwing the three grunts off balance.
“Let’s make this quick.” Xross narrowed his eyes.
He went for the first grunt, head butting them hard with his helmet, causing them to fall over instantly, groaning in pain before Xross delivered another blow with his foot to knock them out.
The second grunt, he threw into a broken off part of the ship, their back of the head meeting it. They were out instantly.
The last one was a bit tougher. They locked claws with Xross, the two snarling as they struggled.
“So, you’re the one Kedaaron keeps growling about.” The grunt sneered. “Leonideas, the self proclaimed “Warrior of Earth.”
“Growling huh? What an honor. I hear it takes a lot to get Kedaaron to growl about someone.” Xross smirked. “Especially since I’m just one guy and there’s a whole rebellion I would think would be a bigger thorn in his side.”
The grunt narrowed their eyes.
“They’re not the one humiliating commanders like you have.”
Xross’ smirk didn’t falter.
“They brought that on themselves and I know how much it makes you all squirm.”
Xross threw the grunt off balance, slashing them across the chest, earning a yowl from them. They fell to the ground, hissing in pain. Xross held his claws close their throat.
“Though honestly, I think you should all be glad I spare your lives, unlike your dearly missed Commander Kanova.” Xross narrowed his eyes. “When you wake up, tell your commander, whoever they are, I’m coming for them and if you just so happen to grace Kedarron’s presence, tell him Leonideas said hello.”
With a swift punch, the grunt was knocked out cold.
Xross surveyed the area quickly before he relaxed, still keeping his claws drawn.
“Leonideas!”
Xross looked to see Jim running to him, a young woman in his arms.
“What’ve we got?” Xross asked, looking her over, concerned.
She had long curly white hair and dark skin with lighter markings on it. She was dressed in a red and orange dress with golden accents, a shawl to match.
“An Aurorian. A royal if I had to guess from the garb and this ship and what we heard those grunts say before you attacked.” Jim answered, looking down at her. “I surveyed what I could of the place and she was the only live one I found. The rest of the crew on board is dead.”
“Yikes.” Xross frowned. “Well… best we can do for her right now is get her to safety. I’m guessing she was probably on her way here to meet with The Dawn members and they’ll probably be looking for her.”
“Yeah. Our camp is probably the safest bet. If we can figure out where she was supposed to be going then we can just escort her there and call it good. Though… guess that means the mask isn’t coming off till she leaves.”
Xross shrugged.
“It’ll be for a short time, so, no big deal.”
Jim nodded.
“Alright. Shall we?”
“We shall.”
oooooo
Elara wasn’t sure how long she was out. She was afraid to wake up though. There were three possibilities running through her mind to what might be awaiting her when she did open hers.
Possibility 1: She had met her end and would be greeting her ancestors relatively soon. Though she wasn’t so sure since something like this would’ve been instantaneous… Least, she was pretty sure.
Possibility 2: Based on what she heard, she was possibly captured by Ecliptic Claw members and was in one of their prisons or worse… in Lord Kedaaron’s base. She really hoped that wasn’t the case but it seemed the most likely.
Possibility 3: Some how… some way… Someone else had gotten her out of the wreck. Maybe a crew member who had survived or someone who had seen the crash. This, however, was just wishful thinking. It was impossible but the chances of it being what was happening were low.
Her senses were coming back to her slowly. She took what she could without her sight in first.
There was the scent of smoke but unlike the intoxicating smoke of her ship, this was a more faint scent, mixed with other scents that were savory. That of fish and other various foods.
She could hear faint chattering between people though it was quiet whispers so she couldn’t really make out what they were saying… or rather, the voices sounded muffled because of a loud rumbling sound. It was gentle and rhythmic but it was making it hard for her to hear anything else. She could hear the crackle of a fire too so that definitely didn’t help in trying to make out conversations.
In addition to the rumbling sound, something soft was vibrating on her stomach.
Elara finally decided to open her eyes, her curiosity wanting answers. Her vision was blurry for a moment before it cleared. Her eyes first went to whatever was on her stomach. There, she found a small creature that had long black fur that was curled up into a ball, its long wispy tail making small motions. It was the source of the rumbling sound and the sound it was making was because of vibrations in the creature’s throat.
The creature stirred, opening its eyes to reveal they were a bright yellow green. It looked at her, tilting their head before making a sound.
“Mew!”
“Um…” Elara tilted her head in confusion. “Hello…?”
“Ah, she awakes.”
Elara’s head snapped to the side, seeing a young man with blond hair approach her, a gentle look in his eyes. Elara went to move, sitting up but cringed at the soreness still affecting her body.
“Easy now.” the young man knelt to her level. “Your body is still recovering from the crash. I promise my comrades and I are not going to hurt you.”
Elara nodded slowly, taking everything in about the young man.
He was dressed in a dark grey armor that had pink glowing designs on it, most notably a design of a caduceus on his chest.
He’s a medic though doesn’t look like he belongs to The Dawn with the color scheme of his armor.
She looked for an emblem on his shoulders, but none was to be found.
Definitely not a member of The Dawn but not a member of the Ecliptic Claw either…
The young man gave a gentle smile.
“What’s your name?” he asked.
“Princess Elara Galaxia.” Elara answered, sitting up straight. “And you are?”
Jim gave a bow.
“Jim. Pleasure to meet you, Your Highness. Never met a royal before.”
“And I thank you for saving my life. To whom are you associated with?”
Jim chuckled, looking up.
“Neither The Dawn or the Ecliptic Claw. I am my own man. Though I guess you could say I am associated with Leonideas the Warrior of Earth.”
Elara’s eyes widened at this.
“You’re associated with THAT vigilante?”
Elara had heard stories of the warrior. Especially with how much he had proven to be a very helpful alley, even if he never swore official allegiance with anyone. As far as anyone could tell he was very much against the Ecliptic Claw but it was hard to trust him entirely without knowing what his intentions were in why he did what he did. Some feared he would turn on them once the job was done. Others thought he would just disappear from existence and live a normal life. No one could really give a straight answer. Only things that could be said is one could view him as a hero while another could view him as a potential threat or nuisance.
I know Admiral Wong isn’t too fond of him.
“Sure am.” Jim grinned. “Who do you think patches up the knucklehead when he comes back from a duel?” Jim pointed to himself. “The guy might be tough as nails and a great warrior but he knows squat about first aid.”
“Mew!”
Elara looked down at the black furry creature that had now moved to her lap. They were still vibrating, rubbing against her stomach.
“And what is this…?” Elara asked, pointing at the creature.
“That’s Abyss. He’s my cat.” Jim got an amused look. “Never seen a cat before?”
Elara shook her head, picking up Abyss, looking him over.
“I have never seen an Earth feline before.” Her eyes had a bit of wonder in them. “Only what I have read in books. I didn’t know they could look like this too.”
Abyss mewed before vibrating again, his nose meeting with Elara’s, getting a giggle out of her.
“Why is it vibrating so much?”
Jim laughed.
“He’s purring, which means he’s happy and that he’s comfortable around you.”
“Oh, I see.” Elara smiled, setting Abyss down in her lap again, petting his fur.
Abyss purred lowered, curling up in her lap.
“Adorable…”
“Ah, I see our mystery girl awakes.”
Elara jumped, looking up to see another person. Her eyes widened as she took in their appearance.
They were dressed in a set of black armor with purple designs on it, a cloak draped over it. The entirety of their head and face was concealed in a helmet that was shaped like that of a lion head, its eyes glowing a faint purple color, the only thing being visible was their mouth through the lion’s mouth.
There was no questioning who was standing beside Jim.
“L-Leonideas…”
“That’s me.” He chuckled. “And who might you be?”
Elara remained silent, holding Abyss close.
“She’s Princess Elara Galaxia.” Jim answered for her. “So, looks like I was right when I guessed she was a royal Aurorian when I pulled her out of the ship.”
“I see… And do you know if she was coming in to see The Dawn?”
“Was just about to ask.” Jim looked to Elara. “Were you?”
Elara nodded slowly.
“Yes. I was supposed to meet with Admiral Nari Wong to provide support with supplies on my ship but…” Elara lowered her head. “We were ambushed…”
Leonideas frowned, kneeling to her level, placing a hand gently on her shoulder, startling her a little. She looked up at him. While she couldn’t see his actual eyes, it almost seemed like the lion mask’s eyes showed sympathy.
“I’m so sorry for your losses.”
Elara lowered her head.
“They were good people… I just wish they didn’t have to meet such a horrible fate.”
“War is cruel like that.” Leonideas squeezed her shoulder. “The best we can do to honor those who have fallen is to move forward and keep fighting for their sake so their efforts weren’t in vain.”
Elara nodded, looking up.
“Will you be taking me to Admiral Nari Wong?”
“Sure are.” Jim smiled. “Just need to figure out where she is since she tends to move from different locations pretty quickly.”
“And it’ll be Jim and Laika who’ll take you and not me since Admiral Nari Wong is not the biggest fan of me.”
“So, I’ve heard.” Elara tilted her head. “You know, if you aligned yourself with The Dawn I’m sure she’d be a bit nicer to you-”
“Not gonna happen.”
“What?”
Leonideas stood up fully, crossing his arms.
“No offense to them but I like doing things MY way and not their way.”
Elara gave a flat look.
“So, in other words, you don’t like rules.”
Leonideas shrugged.
“I have rules, I just don’t like THEIR rules.”
“How is that much different?”
“I’m not having this discussion.” Leonideas gave a wave of his hand, walking towards the campfire. “Jim, just get the info we need and we can escort Her Highness to where she needs to go. I need to worry about where I need to duel next.”
Elara stared at Leonideas in silence before huffing, crossing her arms.
“And this guy is supposedly some great warrior? Well, he’s certainly a warrior without manners. Who does what he just did?”
Jim rubbed the back of his neck.
“You’ll have to excuse him. Trust me when I say this, he does have good social skills but he doesn’t really like talking about matters like aligning with The Dawn for personal reasons.” Jim cleared this throat. “Regardless, we promise we will get you to Admiral Wong as soon as we can. I just need a little time to locate her. You worry about resting, okay?”
“I suppose.” Elara had her narrowed eyes zeroed in on Leonideas.
Jim looked to where she was looking, sighing before getting up.
“I promise you’re safe. Our goal is to help the Earth and help others. We’re in no way looking for trouble. We want our home back just as much as anyone else.”
Jim left without another word, leaving Elara alone with Abyss.
Elara stared at Leonideas for another minute before laying back down, turning her back towards them, Abyss curling up beside her.
I don’t really have a choice but to trust them… but that doesn’t mean I can’t question them.
Elara sighed, closing her eyes.
Just have to make do.
