i think a lot about tatara and the yomo siblings and how their kagune's possess some sort of elemental ability. tatara, fire and the yomo sibs, electric energy. was that ever explained? i can't remember. i find it very fascinating. i wonder if it's a rarity within ghouls. i wonder what other abilities ghouls could have. i'd love to know the exact biological reason it happens.

Half-ghoul Juuzou concept art.

Ok hear me out. After reading one and ONLY half-ghoul Juuzou x reader on Wattpad, I just have to make a concept art of half-ghoul Juuzou. I thought of making an AU where in the OWL mission, Juuzou stil got his leg cut clean off. Then he was pierced through the chest where his lungs were at. He then was rushed to the hospital to get a lung replacement, in which turns out to be a ghoul lung (and we all anime watchers and manga readers know who did this surgery >:{ ) which caused Juuzou to become a half-ghoul.

Plus, THERES NOT A SINGLE GHOUL JUUZOU AU ANYWHERE T^T

so I recently rewatched tokyo ghoul and I have Thoughts.

thought the first

gore, hunger, body parts and cannibalism exist in literature and visual media mostly as an inherent metaphor/allegory of all consuming lust. there’s a reason they call Saw torture porn.

Lawrence shoots Adam as an act of penetration -in a return to the older/younger relationship between two men. an erastes and eromenos if you will- Strahm creates a hole in his throat so he can breathe, literally carving life for himself out of his own skin. if I was one iota smarter I could probably connect this to the whole thing of viewing Adam as the sacrificial lamb, and taking the transmasc Adam Stanheight lives and thrives narrative a little further I could also bring in Lawrence playing the role of god if he’s the surgeon who does Adam’s top surgery. and how Adam gets the tattoo of the hand of adam and god over the scars. shame I’m not that smart /lh.

so how does this fit into Tokyo Ghoul? well when the ghouls eat, they don’t just… eat. they consume. they devour. with such fervour and desperation that is begins to look like a sexual conquest. The Kagune act as a form of penetration and when poised to attack surround the ghoul, literally enveloping them in their own lust. and when the CCG agents claim a ghoul’s Kagune to form a Quinque they carve the lust from them. acting almost as a hand of god taking the sin from the ghoul.

thought the second

say an all ghoul family had a kid that was born without Kagune and couldn’t consume the blood and gore that the rest of the family needs to live. now what if this child got so frustrated with themselves for not being like the rest of their family, they harvest the Kagune from a dead ghoul and stitch it to their own back. boom you have a trans allegory and before you ask yes this is how I’m coping with being a trans man.
