Ramblings of mine that I pasted and copied from discord about a possible subnautica au

So, I've been thinking about a subnautica Au. And I know there are a few like that, but I've noticed that all the ones I've seen have been about the reader falling into B4546 after the Aurora crashed and taking many factors out of the game. So I want to take the Below Zero DLC as a base and slide to the end of the first game.

The reader steals a ship, and is basically a fugitive from the law and might not be able to have a normal life on earth because of it, but they doesn't care and goes to B4546 to find out what happened to his research team. Basically the reader studied all his life and investigated from earth that planet along with other humans that were on that alien planet, but suddenly he gets kicked out of his job and the whole investigation is closed, throwing all his life away as if it was nothing. For a few years they go from one lab to another but find nothing that interests them, only thinking about why the research was shut down. So they ignore Alterra's warnings and go off to investigate.

What happened was simple, a couple of sibling specimens were captured, and the older brother went to rescue them, tearing down all the foundations and the few who escaped were contaminated with the toxin of that leviathan and other substances that were in the lab, creating a deadly disease not only in B4546, but also on earth that was brought by the few members who returned.

Then, the reader arrives and meets Sun and Moon, when he finds the foundations of the laboratories they are contaminated with a disease and neither Sun or Moon knows what is going on other than that their human is sick. The Leviathan are immune thanks to an antibody, but they are too young to expel it and heal the reader. And that's where Eclipse comes in, who doesn't trust the reader but tolerates him because his siblings are fond of him. The older leviathan at a certain point will give the reader the cure, but he has to help him find a way to distribute the cure to his dying planet.

I'm thinking of adding an AI, maybe Gramrock freddy, who will be connected to the reader's brain in a similar way to how Al-An connects to Robin, but instead of an alien it's an AI left behind by his fellow researchers at one of their facilities. And eventually he will get a robotic body and help the reader find a cure along the way.

Needless to say, the reader stays with the boys, in deep areas where Alterra will never find them. He meets Vanessa, who plays the role of Marguerit. Eventually she will become like a sister to the reader, but at first she will be unwelcome.

Actually forget about Eclipse asking the reader to help him spread the cure, Eclipse is on a continuous journey to do it himself and that is why it is difficult to find him. What Eclipse asks the reader to do is to find the leviathan that were kidnapped when they were just eggs, since their species is very small and when the humans kidnapped Sun and Moon they also took many offspring. Only the hatchlings went to a different facility and could never be found. Eclipse will save the reader's life if the reader saves the life of the youngest of his species, then a search will take place similar to the case of Emperor Leviathan asking for help for his children to be born. The reader finds the base in very low areas and there are a couple of dozen eggs of celestial leviathanes, gets what is necessary for them to hatch and guides them to a portal to be free. Sun and Moon do their best to help the reader in his quest but are separated for a moment there, and Eclipse later sees the hatchlings and gives the reader the cure.

So you know that we had an eclipse in North America today and I saw a post about the brothers never actually observing an eclipse before and I had to write this.

"I don't get what's the fuss with this moon thing, the damn thing is there all day and night long every day, every year".

Lucifer's fingers rubbed his closed eyes as a sigh left his body, it was always the same thing when it came to his young brothers.

"We do not have a sun, idiot, that's what makes the trick", the yawny voice of the youngest of the seven uttered with a notable tone of annoyance, his eyes were closed but had they been opened, a roll in them would show how much irritant he found his older brother's words. 

"I find it romantic". Asmodeus sighed, "Satan told me all about human beliefs in legends and books. It's like a kiss between two lovers separated in time and distance, so they can only see each other once in a lifetime and share a love kiss".

Another sigh and a giggle followed that statement, however, the effect those words had left in the group made them stay quiet ever since they had been informed about the assignment regarding the 2024 solar eclipse up in the human world. Lucifer had been mesmerized for a while, but it was the first one to notice the thoughts going through his brothers' minds.

"No..."

"It should be a great occasion to visit the human world and get to see MC!"

Lucifer sighed once more, as he would usually do when they were around. 

"Yes!" The other five shouted. 

"And there will be food!"

"Wait, wait... hold on, you're not actually thinking on kissing MC? Are ya? Cus I'm not gonna allow it, no way under my watch".

"You're so predictable as always, loool". Leviathen mocked.

"Im not! I mean if someone had to do it, then it'd have to be the great Mammon, for I was her first ". 

"Can you please stop talking about being the first as suggesting intercourse and clarify it's all about a pact and you were the first just because you're the most stupid of us?" Satan rolled his eyes.

"Hey whadayamean by that? Show some respect to your older brother, besides..."

"Stop all of you" the eldest nagged at them. "This is no time to avoid your responsibilities, and certainly it's no time for interrupting MC's daily occupations, furthermore..."

The buzz of a phone interrupted his course of thought, his sharp gaze led him to Mammon, and his body, as it was an automatic response, he took the phone from his grasp despite his complaints, however, he was surprised to see, it had not solved the issue and all his brothers had stopped paying attention to him, as their attention had been drawn by the device in their hands. 

Another buzz coming from his pocket finally made him look at the screen of his phone:

 >>> It's crazy, I remember that back in primary school my science book said this year there would be a solar eclipse, and I was like "I'll be more than 20!, That's a long time from here". And the time is here, guys. I'm so excited.

The message had started a discussion with replies from his six brothers, that didn't lack enthusiasm.

>>> I know you cannot be here, yet, I got something for you. 

Lucifer pulled up the attached picture and he smiled as in her hand, there were seven pairs of funny glasses that were probably made of cardboard, and each one was in a different colour. His smile grew wider as he saw every pair had a handwritten word in it: their names.

>>> It's some kind of silly souvenir. I'll give them to you once we get to see each other again. I wish you were here.

A feeling of dread and nostalgia struck the eldest and a sigh escaped his lips again, although immediately afterwards he felt a persistent gaze on him.

"Lucifer", his brothers harmonised, and he stopped himself from rolling his eyes at them, just because he knew he could use his pleads to get a double benefit. 

"Only if you guarantee that you'll improve your grades". 

The six of them nodded in agreement, a tiny accomplice smile bloomed in their faces. That was the first benefit he acknowledged their little trip would bring as consequence. 

Only a few seconds after the door had been knocked at, it opened. A shocked expression followed by the brightest of smiles they had ever known welcomed them; a warm embrace was the cherry on top. That was definitely the second benefit he had foreseen. 

An unexpected third arose when they were reunited in the local park, all of them surrounding a bench under a tree; the blue sky suddenly was losing brightness, it was as it was getting cloudy, but no clouds were around, it felt different, it was an odd kind of darkness. The birds started flying towards their homes, and they went quiet, the sunlight was soon hidden by the moon. The pretty spring day had turned into night for a moment. Lucifer looked at his brothers, impressed by the phenomena, he also stared at his human and her excited smile. 

It was a brief spectacle, but it felt magical; a shiver ran down his spine as the solar ring was drowned in darkness, it sort of reminded him to when he had fallen out of grace but in a better sense, despite being so old, he had never lived such a show of the immensity of nature... everyone, including his six demon brothers, was admiring in awe at the sun being swallowed by the moon, while wearing their black glasses, while a person with a speaker explained the science behind it. 

When the sun shone again over their heads, the girl opened up their arms to hug them, a hug which all of them returned.

For some reason they were grateful to be alive in that precise point of time where all they had got to know each other, to spend time with one another, they were all glad to witness the event of the century together.

So uh... Leviathan Eclipse, eh? I don't think I have the skill or time to do this one justice or finish it fully, but I'm at least mildly happy with this result. In Deep Dreams Between the Waves will forever have me in a chokehold. My heart. 

And @naffeclipse !

I cannot explain to you how touching your writing is. How fluid, engaging, interesting- how much it has wormed its way into my mind and my heart. You have me on the edge of my seat through your stories, feeling the panic, feeling the pain, feeling the comfort and resolutions. 

The ending for In Deep Dreams Between the Waves was beautiful and truly brought me a sense of peace within myself. Acceptance and reflection. It will forever be one of my favorite stories, and all your others are placed right beside it on that list. 

 Thank you so, so much for the passion and work you put into your writing. I am so thankful I've gotten to join along on your plots and following along with your characters. I'll keep on reading long after you're done writing.

Considering your recent material in the Subnautica AU, I do need to ask a few things about the sirens as there's a lot of mystery and I may or may not want to make something for you in this AU (And no, I'm not expecting it to be canon)

1) DOES the coloring of certain siren genders mirror that of earth's fish? Like, are males brighter than females?

2) HARD QUESTION! Are Sirens born from eggs, like most fish, or are they born live, like whales or sharks? (Someone's gotta ask the hard questions about a species, right?)

3) Do they show color when they're born, or does their color change over time?

4) Are Sirens in this world solitary creatures like in popular folklore? Like, do they value their independence, or are they willing to ask for help?

5) Admittedly, this one is less on the sirens and more so my stupidity on this game talking, but what are the Interlopers and why are the Sirens so...what's the word for it...nervous about them? Scared of them? Not sure how they feel about them or who they are

Oh ho ho hooo! Time to break my lore brain! I'm glad you like my AU so much! :D Alrighty! Here we go!

Putting everything below a cut, cuz there's a lot :D

That is correct! The more vibrant the colors, the more likely the siren is a male. However! There are cases were a female may have one or two bright colors (the different subspecies and whatnot), in that case; look to the the fins. Male sirens will always have colorful webbing and fins. Sun's fins are bright orange and yellow with red quills. Moon's fins are bright blue that fade to a little but still popping blue. Eclipse's fins are bright orange with some red. A female siren would not have colorful fins and webbing, it would be white, silver, or black depending on the subspecies. :D

The siren leviathans do indeed lay eggs, like most leviathan species in Subnautica. The eggs have a tougher "skin" than normal fish eggs though, making them sturdy. Also! Most mated pairs only lay one or two eggs, that is how high the survival rate is for siren :D (but that depends on if the adult siren doesn't kill their prospective mates) They are also always white, silver, or black, depending on were they were laid and subspecies. This leads to your next question, friend!

Siren's do not show color until they are old enough to hunt on their own. Until then, they remain muted in color, to better blend with their surroundings. White for shallow areas or arctic. Silver for deeper waters, reflect colors better to blend with any area. Black for the deepest parts of the ocean, blend with shadows for survival.

The sirens in this world prefer to travel in pairs (like Sun and Moon). When young, they will find another siren and will bond with them (familial, platonic, or romantic), thus becoming a pair. The two together will hunt prey and thrive. There are some, though, who grow too territorial and will kill their partners (like Eclipse). This is rare and only occurs with the more territorial subspecies (but they will not kill their mates, only family and friends cuz territory). Sirens will always turn to their partner first and foremost before seeking assistance of other species.

The "interlopers" are the precursors/architects from the game! "Interloper" is just what Eclipse calls them, since they invaded his home and interfered where they shouldn't (in his opinion). Sun and Moon don't really know much about the Architects, since those guys left WAY before Sun and Moon were born, but Eclipse... Well. Eclipse is a LOT older than he acts. He was a hatchling when the Architects basically doomed the planet. He and his partner (who was alive at that time) fled to an area with enough volcanic activity that the Kharaa virus was unable to infect them ((hence why it doesn't show up in my AU, the "Hot Spot" is a volcanic center that "cleansed" the area when the volcano was still active. It is currently dormant during the events of the stories)). Eclipse absolutely hates the Architects and blames them for the state of the world (such as the near extinction of many leviathan species like the Sea Emperors)

These were wonderful questions and it was a blast answering them! Feel free to poke my brain any time! A lot of what I think up doesn't actually get written in the stories due to them being mainly from Reader's perspective (tho Eclipsed Rhythm does show a bit of Eclipse's perspective every now and then)

The inspiration for Eclipse in The Abyss Stares Back, my MerMay project! This is the Ice Dragon Leviathan, an unused leviathan from Subnautica: Below Zero! My Eclipse is a warm water variant of the Ice Dragon though he's smaller than his cold water relatives. He lives at the crater's edge, preying on the Ghost Leviathans that live out in the Void. He has his usual colors and instead of shooting super cooled brine spikes, he can shoot out super-heated shots of boiling water.

How they show affection, demon brothers!

roughly ~700 words :3 side characters ver

Mammon bites.

Seeing how quickly Mammon took to you, he started showing affection around day three of knowing you, after forming your pact. At first you thought he was sniffing your hair, and maybe you needed new conditioner, but then you felt the graze of teeth on the lobe of your ear and a gentle bite.

You don’t react, save for a mild blush, and Mammon’s makes an oddly bird-like chiro, before pulling away from you.

“What was that?”

“What was what?”

“You bit me,” you acusse. It’s not like you’re mad, but knowing why might be nice.

“Stupid human, you’re imagining things,” and if you didn’t believe him from the tone of his voice the aggressive sunburnt red that eclipses his whole face shows he doesn’t mean it.

Satan headbutts.

It took a while for Satan to be affectionate with you, maybe shortly after the Lucifer slash London incident was when he first rammed his (thankfully horn-less) head into your arm. You thought he just bumped into you, maybe he stumbled and to spare him embarrassment, you didn’t mention it.

But then it happened again, this time he made eye contact with you before shoving his scalp into your chest. You melted.

Satan’s so sweet to you, for real for real.

Lucifer purrs.

Now don’t ask him or accuse him of purring because he will deny it, vehemently.

You only had the opportunity to hear it once in your first year at RAD, the night before you left, he had let you hold his head in your lap and bask in the warmth of your stomach and thighs in between the other activities you did that night.

Lucifer’s eyes has lidded and he gaze up at you with near heart shaped pupils, eyes nearly completely red, and a low rumble began in his chest.

At first you had thought he was growling and you did something wrong, but when you had stiffened up for a brief instance, Lucifer had snuggled his face deeper into your skin.

Asmodeus rattles.

You can’t see where it’s coming from, but it sounds like a baby rattle or the rattle of a snake.

“MC!” [aggressive rattling]

It was really confusing the first couple times and you had to eventually ask if there was a bug somewhere. Asmo, naturally, got offended, but as soon as you told him it was okay and you were just curious, he tells you it means he’s happy.

Cutie Patootie!!

Belphegor licks.

Belphie doesn’t give short little kitten licks, he gives long, drawn out licks across whatever he can access easiest (usually your neck or chest). His tongue is rough and tends to feel a bit scratchy against your skin and sometimes catches on your clothes.

The first time it happened was shortly after the attic incident, and you had thought you were alone in your bed and nearly had a heart attack when a lazy, oddly thick tongue went over your exposed forearm.

You, as one does when startled, screamed.

Belphie leans upward with a grumble, eyes alert though. “What’re you screamin’ about, MC?”

Beelzebub bites and buzzes.

He tries to keep it to just licks, he knows his teeth are sharp :( and he’d hate to hurt you by accident. But after you get your pact and harming you becomes much more unbearable, he will play-bite much more often.

AND he buzzes (like a fly, teehee) when he is especially content.

Leviathan purrs(?).

It’s probably some deep sea monster echolocation thing, but the closest you can describe it as is a purr.

Now getting him to purr is harder than getting Lucifer to purr, he gets up in his own head a lot, so usually when he’s sleepy he purrs (maybe it’s a trill?) into your side.

Bonus for Memphis, TN. (Mephisto)

Since we have not seen his demon form (thx solmare), I have to use what I know of my babygirl to guess what he is like.

I think he probably taps MC with his cane, like a poke or something idk it’s cute give me more mephisto content pls.
