Live on Love
Day twenty of @sjmcrackshipmonth and today's pairing is: Lysandra x Aelin!
Words: 1,715
TW: mention of death
Aelin rejects Lysandra, still in mourning of her former fiancé but as the days goes by she realizes she made a mistake. Would Lysandra forgive her?
Aelin stared at her friend, her best friend. The woman who was always there for her, especially after Sam's death. The woman who was a stranger once, who became her friend and then her best friend. The woman who had never left her side, even through hard times, who had lent Aelin her ear, her clothes and who had just bared her heart to Aelin, confessing her feelings. She stared at her, at the dark brown curls that fell over shoulder, at the green blouse and the short, dark skirt she wore. Aelin looked at the red painted lips that were pressed together as she waited for an answer and the green eyes that stared right back at her. The transparency that she found in Lysandra's gaze broke something deep within Aelin and she could feel her heart crack. It wasn't like the pain that she felt when she thought about Sam. The pain wasn't worse or better, it was just wholly different and for once in her life, Aelin was utterly speechless. I have feelings for you, the words echoed in her head, again and again, I love you, more than just a friend. A ragged breath escaped Aelin as she sat up straighter and her mouth opened, in that moment Lysandra looked so hopeful that it took everything in Aelin to speak the next words, "I'm sorry" Lysandra's eyes turned glassy and she looked down quickly, but not quickly enough to hide the devastation in her eyes. Aelin wished she could tell her something else but she wasn't over Sam's death yet. It's been a little over two and a half years since the accident and Aelin couldn't take that step, she wasn't ready. Not yet. She shook her head and tried to ignore the lump in her throat. "I just– I can't." her voice cracked. Her instincts told her to grab Lysandra's hand but she didn't think her friend would want this right. "I'm sorry." Aelin whispered again.
Lysandra didn't look at her as she shook her head "Don't be, Aelin." she said quietly. "I should have known. It was a stupid idea, I don't know why I told you." she grabbed her bag and the keys she had discarded on the table. "I have to get back to the studio."
Aelin knew that wasn't true, Lysandra didn't work on Mondays. She preferred to work on weekends and take night shifts because it pays more. She followed Lysandra to the front door of Aelin's apartment. "It wasn't a stupid idea! I promise, I just- I- I can't." she hated herself for the lack of explanation, but that's all she could think of at that moment.
After Lysandra opened the front door she turned to Aelin and she tried to plaster a smile on her face, unsuccessfully. Aelin knew her the best, she could read her friend like an open book by now. Although it didn't take much to read because everyone could make out the hurt in her eyes, the hurt that threatened to undo her.
"I understand." Lysandra said. "Really, I do. I get it." she let out a breath and moved a Strand of hair out of her face. They just looked at each other for a moment until Lysandra turned on her feet and walked to the elevator. Aelin stood in the doorway, watching as she waited for the elevator, watched as she stepped in and as the door closed. Watched as Lysandra left without looking back again. It hit Aelin then and there that she didn't know when she would see Lysandra again and no matter what happened, their relationship would never be the same. She stood in her doorway a long while after Lysandra Was gone.
It took Aelin twelve days, eleven hours, thirty-seven minutes, a lot of crying and a pathetic amount of chocolate cake to realize that she had made a mistake. During her eighth re-watch of Sleepless in Seattle she realized that she did, in fact, reciprocate Lysandra's feelings. And she realized wanted to take that step with her. Aelin knows that Sam would have wanted her to move on, to find love but she was so deep in mourning that she didn't want to think about it but now, now she was thinking and imagining taking this step with Lysandra…it didn't scare her anymore. She was nervous, of course she was, but she wasn't afraid. Although, it was probably too late. Aelin had pushed her away and she wouldn't blame Lysandra if she was moving on. It must have taken her a lot to finally be bold enough to confess her love and Aelin had turned her down. That's when Aelin made a decision. She finished her chocolate cake and got ready for bed, tomorrow it was her turn to be bold.
The next day felt like it was stretching forever. To clear her head and kill some time, Aelin cleaned her apartment, went on a walk with Fleetfoot, bought groceries, showered, answered emails and called her mother. Now she was sitting in her car in the front of her apartment complex and listened to the radio station where Lysandra worked. Her heart was beating fast, especially as the song started fading. Her heart stopped when Lysandra's voice sounded through the speakers. Her phone was trembling as she dialed the number that Lysandra was announcing.
Aelin wasn't the first to call, the first was a lady who needed Lysandra's advice on what she should do if her boyfriend has a cat hair allergy but she's not ready to give up her cat. She turned down the volume of the radio as another lady's voice sounded on the other end of the line. If the voice was any indication, the woman must be around her forties.
"Hello," Aelin replied to her, voice trembling. "I'm calling for relationship advice from Lysandra."
"What's your name?" the woman asked, sounding unbothered and happy. Aelin envied her because she was a nervous wreck.
She bit on her nail and answered after a short moment "Ally. My name is Ally."
"Alright, sweetheart. There are a few callers before you, after a break of two songs it's your turn. Don't hang up the phone, if you do that the next caller gets your place. Okay?"
The wait would probably kill Aelin before she had any chance to talk to Lysandra but she replied "Okay, understood." either way.
"Perfect!" the ladies said and put her into a waiting line.
Aelin's knee bounced up and down nervously as she waited and listened to the other callers. One lady asked Lysandra for advice about her boyfriend who had just cheated on her for the third time and then a husband whose wife was mad at him and he didn't know what he did wrong. Aelin listened to everything, admiring how calm Lysandra stays through it all, admiring her patience. Aelin Was so deep in thought that she didn't realize the second song came to an end, almost missing the voice of the woman she talked to earlier.
"Ally, are you still there?"
Aelin sat straight up, almost banging her head on the roof of her car. "Yes, yes I'm still here." she said, her heartbeat quickening as the woman on the other end said "You're next, sweetheart."
Aelin wanted to thank her but she was already gone, instead she heard Lysandra's voice, announcing, "Next up we have Ally! Are you there, Ally? How can I help you?"
Aelin had to find her voice for a moment until she said "Hello! Hey Lysandra, I need your advice."
Lysandra was silent for a second, either she recognized Aelins voice or she waited for Aelin to continue. "Of course, tell me. What do you need advice for?"
Aelin took a deep breath, ignoring the knot in her stomach as she told her "I made a mistake. A mistake I regret so, so much." she swallowed. "My friend confessed her love to me, two weeks ago. My previous relationship… I don't need to go into detail but it left my heart in shambles and I told her I am not ready for a relationship, I was convinced I wasn't ready."
Lysandra was silent for a few heartbeats and Aelin could have sworn she heard her swallow. "I am sure you had your reason, Ally. And I am sure your friend understands. Don't throw yourself into something that you're not ready for."
"That's it, that's the problem," Aelin explained. "I built a wall around myself, afraid that I could get hurt again but when she left," Aelin shook her head, tears falling down her cheek. "The regret hit me like a blow. I realized that I am ready to move forward and imagining her at my side, I am not afraid anymore. I want her at my side."
"You should tell her that." Lysandra only replied.
"I'm afraid it's too late." Aelin admitted. "I'm afraid she moved on and I am history, I'm afraid I ruined it when I rejected her."
"She's your friend, isn't she?"
"My best friend, I love her more than anything."
Lysandra let out a small, broken laugh. "I'm sure she did not move on and she'd be more than ready to hear you out."
"You think so?" Aelin's voice cracked.
"I do." she replied.
"Thank you. Lys." Aelin said, wiping her tears away with her sleeve.
"You're welcome, Ally." Lysandra said softly. Then the line was dead.
It didn't take Aelin long to decide her next step. It felt all so fast that Aelin was surprised an hour went by from the moment she started the motor to the moment where she stood in the parking lot at the studio where Lysandra worked. Another twenty minutes went by until it was time for Lysandra's break and five minutes later, she walked out the door. She looked over the parking lot until her green eyes met Aelin's and to her relief, they softened.
Slowly she walked toward her friend and when she stopped in front of her, Lysandra smiled at Aelin. "Hey Ally."
Tears started flowing again and Aelin laughed, "Hey Lys," she said. Lys smiled brighter, which made something in Aelin snap as she took her face in her hands and kissed her.

Really weird AU idea I had
Ok, so this is gonna be crazy, but I had an idea for like a good guy Arobynn AU, it's kinda random but I just wanted to share my thoughts of how the plot might end up different.
Arobynn is obviously a good father figure to Aelin/Celaena
Probably would be called Aelin by Arobynn, just using Celaena as a cover name
Lysandra and Aelin would be closer, maybe girlfriends
I guess Sam wouldn't die
Anyway I'll probably just go over how I think the Assassins Blade books will go bc I'm way too tired to go into all the books
Aelin would still be pissed about the slave thing
She'd free them in a similar fashion to the original novella
Arobynn would be mad, not abusive though
He would be upset because she could've gotten hurt
Sends her to go train with the mute masters still
Aelin and Arobynn could be working together to rebuild Terrasen
So they need support from people like the mute master
Honestly, I don't think anything would change about the Healer one, or the Desert one all that much
For the final ones though, a lot would obviously change
Sam wouldn't be killed, and Aelin wouldn't move out
They would somehow hear about the tournament thing
They need to get someone in prison to be chosen
Arobynn wouldn't want to put Aelin to be in danger, but she's the best choice Not the most well-thought-out AU, but something I've been thinking about. If anyone's interested I can go more in-depth about the novellas, or talk about the other books. I haven't read any of them in a while.

lysaelin + highschool + summer break
in my mind, they all go to a prestigious boarding school in the outskirts of rifthold
during summer break, lysandra goes back as arobynn's orphanage/emotional abuse center, and she just lives with him, and here it's just emotional abuse because lysandra's not eighteen yet. if she was, well... we all know
but now lysandra and aelin are dating. and lysandra, instead of going back to arobynn's, lysandra goes with aelin
basically, aelin used to live in the orphanage, but her older-by-approximately-six-years-in-this-fic cousin aedion got custody of her and he sent her to the boarding school because he CANNOT take care of aelin year-round
lysandra's still in the orphanage but in the process of getting out because her uncle has tracked her down (he looked more into it and found her... something about knowing that she probably went to arobynn and then realizing that the only person around that age was lysandra... who is documented as trans)
so lysandra and aelin go up to terrasen and visit the galathynius's historic summer home in, you guessed it, the county of caraverre
one day, aelin sees lysandra calmly petting a ghost leopard, a KNOWN PREDATOR, and she freaks out but lysandra just grins and is like 'this is my new friend. i named her lyra'
and aelin just rolls with it
evangeline does not exist in this au, except if there was an epilogue. then evangeline is definitely aelin and lysandra's adopted daughter
idk... just summer sapphics in flower fields and gifting each other flowers
the viBES

Throne of Glass gets my Mermay treatment!
Abraxos is the seahorse (with little wyvern wings) and I gave Lysandra a leopard (bush) fish to nod to her shapeshifting fave form of a leopard.

It seems I'm going everywhere this spring. May I suggest some road trip headcannons from the TOG and/or ACOTARs group?
(whichever you prefer I love them all)
I'm so jealous, I need a trip lol. I went with TOG for this because they'd be so iconic to roadtrip with imo
Throne of Glass Roadtrip Headcanons
Tumblr media
• Aelin plans the trip and insists on driving, only because she lied about where y’all are going and wants to surprise everyone
• She also only packed wine and chocolate for snacks
• Lorcan has packed enough to compensate for everything Aelin didn’t pack (and more)
• Aelin didn’t book a hotel or anywhere to stay, but you’ll be fine because she “knows a guy” literally everywhere you go
• Rowan is riding shotgun at first, but he keeps trying to give Aelin directions with Google Maps so she makes him switch seats with Fenrys
• Fenrys is moved up to shotgun for his superior DJ skills, which even get Manon singing along
• Rowan is frustrated at first that he got moved to the backseat, but eventually gives up and falls asleep for the rest of the ride
• Dorian is watching TikToks on his phone way too loud and showing you all of the funniest ones (he’ll eventually run out of battery and realize he forgot a charger. Manon has one but lies and says she doesn’t so that she doesn’t have to listen to it anymore)
• Aedion starts complaining that snacks aren’t sufficient and we need to stop for real food, and Gavriel agrees
• Manon finds a Waffle House on the route and Aelin agrees to stop there, but Dorian and Lysandra want to go somewhere nicer to eat (they’re overruled)
• Aelin and/or Manon start a fight at Waffle House (but Lysandra is the one who kicks ass)
• You arrive at Aelin’s friend’s house where you are all staying, and it’s way nicer than you all expected
• Lorcan doesn’t trust it and says he won’t stay there, until Elide convinces him it’ll be fine
• It would be the nicest vacation you’d ever been on, and it’s really best if you don't ask Aelin questions about how she pulled it off

Who Gave My Wife Liquor?
Rowaelin Month 2023, Day 20: Drunken Antics
y'all know i cannot resist this prompt 🤭🤭 so enjoy some fun drunken shenanigans involving the whole court of Terrasen plus Fenrys, Dorian, and some potentially bad decisions (but no angst i promise). fair warning: it's total crack, i honestly don't think it makes any sense, but it's (maybe) fun
also based off a prompt sent to @rowaelinprompts: "drunk and clingy Aelin" ;))
Word count: 1.5k
Warnings: swearing, alcohol, intoxication, silly goofy times
Enjoy!!!
@rowaelinscourt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aelin was absolutely beaming as she descended the stairs and headed into the well-lit great room of the castle's private wing, where a fire was blazing merrily in the hearth and laughter spilled from the wide-open doors. Her heart was full twice over at the sound of her friends' laughter--they had all been through so much in the last ten years, and the fact that they could still laugh was a miracle in and of itself.
"You're late!" Dorian called, catching her arm and leading her into the informal party. "And about three drinks behind, Your Majesty." Grinning, his sapphire eyes just beginning to glaze over, he grabbed the nearest flask and poured her a cup, tapping his drink to hers. "Cheers!"
"And you have shit tolerance, Your Majesty," she teased, downing the short glass of wine in one go. Dorian rolled his eyes, and she laughed. "Lighten up, Dor. Not all of us have your youthful ability to recover." Dorian, as a human, had less tolerance than the Fae and the shifter and Elide, who could drink Lorcan under the table, but he also recovered rapidly from his hangovers.
"Again with the you're an old man jokes?" Lorcan clicked his tongue, smirking. "Wasn't it you who kept telling me to get creative?"
"That would be your wife, actually." Aelin raised her refilled cup to the hulking, dark-haired male, whose face flushed bright scarlet at her innuendo.
"Galathynius," he grunted, tipping the contents of his glass down his throat.
"Don't be so put off, darling," Elide soothed her husband. "Aelin's just grumpy because you made me scream so loud last night we woke the whole castle up."
"And I'll do it again tonight," he winked.
Fenrys spewed wine all over himself. "Fucking gods!" he shrieked, pretending to be mortified. "You lot and your insatiable se--"
"You're just as bad, Fenny," Aelin smirked. "Or should I say, good boy?"
The normally roguish blonde blushed bright crimson and said nothing, choosing to grab the nearest ounce glass of liquor and tip it down his throat. "How?!" he demanded, both mortified and genuinely curious to discover how Aelin had heard that little pet name.
She beamed innocently and threw back a shot of her own. "That's for me to know and you--and your pretty boy--to find out."
"Pretty boy?" Lysandra wheezed, slinging her arm around Aelin's shoulders. "Holy rutting gods, Fen, I knew you weren't particular in bed, but I never would have guessed you'd want to be the one taking orders."
Dorian was conspicuously silent.
Observant as ever, Aelin turned towards the young king, a smile so friendly and approachable that it was truly terrifying slipping across her face. "Dor, darling."
"Oh fuck," he muttered.
"Have you been satisfied with Lord Moonbeam's visits to your kingdom?" The enquiry was perfectly polite, even diplomatic, but the smirk on Aelin's lips added a twist to the innocent words.
Dorian picked up the closest flask and drained it.
Fenrys snickered. "Don't be shy, Majesty. We won't--ah!" His teasing was abruptly cut off with a soft yelp. Dorian flicked the blonde Fae a look heated enough to boil water.
Aelin had a very good idea just what (phantom) hands had silenced Fenrys before he could make an incredibly ribald remark. "I see."
"For a queen so revered, Ae, you have no propriety," Aedion fake-sighed, reaching across his cousin to grab the glass bottle of whiskey that had definitely come from the back of the cellar.
"Says the one who cavorted his merry way through the mountains," she retorted, passing her glass to be filled. "Say, how is Kyllian doing these days?"
"He's fine," Aedion said, too quickly.
Lysandra grinned and curled herself close to Aedion's side, whispering something into his ear that made him choke on his mouthful of whiskey and splutter the aged liquor all over his shirt.
She cackled, tears of merriment spilling out of her bright green eyes. "There's no need to worry, Aed. We're all friends here, no?"
"How sweet," Elide crooned. She pinched her husband's cheek. "See, Lor? We're all friends."
"Lorcan doesn't have friends," Rowan said, completely deadpan. He'd been lounging in a comfortable armchair, admiring his wife and sipping on his glass of liquor like the civilized old male he was.
Lorcan snorted. "Fuck you."
"Let's keep the past in the past, shall we?" Rowan smirked over the rim of his glass.
For the second time that night, Lorcan's tan face flushed violently red, and the room exploded into laughter.
"I knew it!" Aelin cried triumphantly, pointing at Lorcan. "I knew you and my buzzard were lovers!"
"Best he's ever had," Lorcan mumbled, barely audible.
Elide gasped for breath through her peals of laughter, clutching at her chest and clinging to Lorcan's broad shoulder for support. "We need to get you drunk more often, love," she wheezed.
"The hell you do," he grumbled. "That sounds like a terrible idea."
"I have a GREAT idea!" Fenrys announced, rising unsteadily to his feet and brandishing his bottle of wine.
"You absolutely do not," absolutely everyone else chorused.
"First of all, that'sh' fuckin' rude!" He pretended to pout. "An' shecon'ly, it's a great idea!" He took a long drink from the bottle and pointed right at Lorcan. "Lorky, I dare you."
"You dare me to what, Moonie?" Lorcan shot the younger male an insolent smirk.
Fenrys beamed, which was both hilarious and terrifying. "Clothes off, an' pose as a sh-sht-stashue for three minutes."
"Fine." Lorcan drained the rest of his drink, stood up, shucked his clothes except for his undershorts, and strolled out into the hall. The others followed him, laughing and playfully ogling.
Elide wolf-whistled. "Don't be shy, Lor, pose like one of the ancient sculptures." She wiggled her eyebrows. "Most of us have seen you naked, you know."
Lorcan sighed, and Aelin swore she heard him mutter something about so much for keeping secrets under his breath. "I'm not drunk enough for that, Li."
"Pity," Aelin snickered. "You'd make such a well-endowed sculpture."
"Careful, Rowan," Lorcan drawled. "Your wife's objectifying other males again."
"Who gave my wife liquor?" Rowan called, laughing. "She only does that when she's drunk."
"You're mean," Aelin teased, frowning theatrically at her grumpy buzzard.
"Thought you liked me mean," he murmured, the words a wicked promise that set her blood alight. He wrapped his free arm around her waist and laid his hand against the curve of her ass, squeezing just enough to make her inhale.
"No!" Aedion yelped, throwing his hands over his face. "Shit, I'm standing right here!"
Lysandra doubled over with laughter, throwing a wink over at Aelin. "Look what you've done to your poor innocent little cousin," she giggled, unable to get all the words out without losing her grip on her merriment.
Aelin snorted. "Lys, if Aedy is innocent, then I'm a virgin priestess."
Lys wiped tears from her eyes. "All right, you--is Fenrys naked?"
Yes. Yes he was.
Completely undressed, Fenrys sprinted down the hall and back, grinning like a schoolboy when he reached the others again. "I didn't fall over!" he crowed, exuberant.
"Didn't stand up, either," Aelin muttered, half to herself.
Rowan coughed, a deep laugh billowing out of his chest. "Give him some slack, Fireheart," he laughed. "Moonie here is a little too drunk to perform as quickly as he usually does."
Fenrys shrieked in protest. "I perform longly!"
"Tha'sh'not a word, Fen," Dorian drawled, his words slurring together.
"Neither is anything the two of you are about to say to each other," Rowan whispered into Aelin's ear.
She around and pressed her face into his chest to stifle the fit of laughter that made her whole body shake. "You and your godsdamn impeccable timing," she gasped once she'd regained her breath.
Her husband winked. "I try."
Slowly, their dear friends began to disperse, first Fenrys and Dorian, the two leaning on each other for support but still staggering, then Elide and Lorcan, and finally Aedion and Lysandra. Aelin looked around the room at the empty glasses and bottles and flasks left on tables and couches. "Should we--"
"Later." Without blinking, Rowan swept her up into his arms. "Right now, you need to go to bed."
"Is that a promise, buzzard?" She looped her arms effortlessly around his neck, lowered her lashes, and smiled lazily up at him, sending a hazy image of slick skin and dancing flames into his mind.
He inhaled sharply, his nostrils flaring. "Don't tease me, princess." His voice dropped to a thick rumble, the way it always did when she'd pushed just the right buttons. In a blur of Fae speed, he whisked them upstairs to their rooms, kicked the door shut, and laid her gently on the bed.
And she promptly fell asleep.
Chuckling softly, Rowan slipped Aelin's shoes off, changed into his nightclothes, splashed some water on his face, and slipped into bed, curling himself around her. She sighed and went boneless against him, her breaths deep and rhythmic. In moments, he was asleep as well, following his queen into dreams as he did every night.
Say Yes /// Elide Lochan X Lorcan Salvaterre
Summary: The wedding scene everyone was dying to see.
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1,2K
Notes: SJM does have a thing against wedding scenes as we have been denied them so many times, I'm here to fix it.
Main Masterlist
Elide shivered as a cold wind touched her skin, she looked behind her to see Rowan standing there, winking at her as he exited the room and left her alone with Aelin and the others. She walked in front of the mirror, her limp almost gone as Rowan’s power helped her, she made a mental note to thank him for it. Her trembling hands caressed the white fabric of her wedding dress, making sure that no wrinkles would be there.
“You look absolutely beautiful.” Aelin said, hugging her from the side, she was wearing a soft green dress, her crown replaced by a small headpiece. Elide thanked her, looking at her surroundings.
Yrene was finishing her hair, the curls on a bun, with some loose strands framing her perfect shiny face, the baby bump was showing in the fluffy lilac dress she chose for the occasion. She happily talked to Lysandra, who wore a deep green dress glued to her body, accentuating her curves, her hair cascading in waves behind her back.
The three females talked, and Elide felt happy having them there with her, her friends, but her heart missed someone, she had sent the invitation but she wasn’t sure if Manon would actually show up, they talked through letters but Manon had so much to do, as did Elide. They both had their homes to recover.
Three knocks at the door and Aedion’s head popped up in the room, letting them know that it was time. The three females wished their good luck to Elide and she thanked them, looking one last time in the mirror.
Little makeup adorned her face,  just some shimmery in her eyes, her hair was falling in waves, clipped behind her head, leaving a clear view of her face. The hair clip was made from golden leaves, a treasure from her own mother’s wedding, that Vernon had kept in her family treasure room. Small diamonds adorned her ears and neck, and as she looked at her gown, she almost didn’t recognize herself. A floor-length white gown, a bodice holding her upper frame with small sleeves, and a thin cape tied to her neck. She looked divine.
“Eli, we have to go, you don’t want to leave him waiting.” Aedion urged.
“It’s fine Eli, Aedion is just afraid of Lorcan.” Ren laughed and she giggled, opening the door.
“I’m ready.” Ren let out a low whistle.
“You look really beautiful.” She blushed. “Can’t believe you’re getting married.”
“Let’s go before I cry.” Aedion said, grabbing her arm and Ren grabbed the other side, her two best friends walking her down the aisle, she might cry as well.
They walked, but before they exited the door leading to the forest where the ceremony was being held, someone cleared their throat, and she turned around. In a beautiful red dress, hair parted in the middle and red lips. Manon smiled at her.
“You came.” Elide rushed to her, Rowan’s power still holding her leg straight. Manon hugged her, as the smaller woman buried herself against her.
“You called.” She replied, taking Elide in, she looked so angelic like this, Manon smiled widely, something very rare for the witch. “You look amazing, he’s a lucky guy.”
“I’m so glad you’re here, you have no idea.” She blurted and Manon nodded.
“Let’s get you married then.” Manon escorted Elide Back to the males standing in front of the door. “Abraxos is waiting if you change your mind.” She winked and Elide laughed.
“I’ll think about that, thank you, Manon.” She turned to the males. “Let’s go then.” They grabbed her by her arms, and the three of them started to walk, as a soft melody started to play.
The guests were seated on wooden chairs adorned with small flowers, the path was covered in various shades of flowers and tiny candles. She looked up at Lorcan, wearing a black attire, his hair in a low bun and he shifted his weight from one foot to another. It was a funny sight. A flower arch was behind him and a priestess was ready to make everything official for them.
The soft music followed her until Ren and Aedion were ready to pass her to Lorcan, he gladly took her small hand, leading the way back to the arch.
“You look breathtaking.” He whispered, eyeing her from the side, as they listened to the priestess talk. Lorcan felt his hands sweat, and he felt nervous. Settling down for her was the best decision he ever made. He would do everything for her and it would always be worth it. Even if it meant enduring years of mockery by Aelin and Fenrys as he was about to become Lord Lorcan Lochan.
“You may now say your vows.” The soft voice of the priestess sounded and he turned to his beautiful Elide. A small tear escaped her eyes and he was quick to wipe it away.
“I was trapped my whole life, everything I’ve ever loved was taken away from me..” Elide started, her voice a little shaken by the memories of her past. “I grew up thinking I would be forever caged, but you showed me freedom, you gave me choice, you make me feel seen and heard. It’s like I matter again. And I love you so much.” It wasn’t much, but they were the words from her heart, the truest feelings she had inside her.
“I thought that I knew what love was like, how it felt, but no one ever loved me truly like you do. I give up everything I am and everything I will be to be by your side. You shall never know what a day alone feels like anymore. I will stand by you day and night and show my love for you every day because you deserve Elide Lochan. You deserve to be loved and it’s my honor to be the one to do it. I love you so much.”
Elide couldn’t contain the waterfall that fell from her eyes as Lorcan spoke. The priestess finished the ceremony, telling him he might kiss the bride. His large hands cupped the sides of Elide’s face, bringing her close, his lips brushed hers and he kissed her gently, like she deserved to be treated. Her hands grabbed the collar of his attire, not wanting to be apart from him.
The crowd roared and clapped as they kissed. They were still clapping as Lorcan grabbed Elide’s hand and guided her to where the reception was going to be. The guests followed them to another part of the forest where tables were displayed, lights hung from the trees and food was being served. The music was nice and calm.
“Lady and Lord Lochan.” Fenrys yelled, and the crowd clapped once more as they reached the dance floor.
Lorcan rested his hand on the small of her back while she rested both hands on his chest. They moved, eyes locked on each other like they were the only ones there. The music moved them around and their family watched as they danced, their first dance as husband and wife.
The first step towards the rest of their lives.
An ex convict, neglected nepo baby and level 12 bland white man team up to bolster the regime of a dictator whilst also forming life long bonds and experimenting with one another sexually. Watch as the gang goes from fetch quests to killing actual god, as the magical blonde girl traverses the globe, finding love with a man who has a face tattoo instead of a personality. But that’s not all folks! Watch these characters undergo trauma after unbelievable trauma, like getting possessed by a demon, being paralysed, surviving sex slavery, or being bisexual. And that’s just the tip of the fairy shaped iceberg! Never before have characters been hotter, dumber and this incompetent. You’ll laugh, cry, and shit your pants when a terrifying murder witch who may or may not have eaten children appears in book 3 and steals everyone else’s thunder, prompting questions like: why wasn’t this series about her, AND just how many innocent people can a character kill and still remain likeable. The answer, as always, will surprise you ;)
I have wanted to get a commission of all the TOG girls similar to the one I commissioned of the ACOTAR girls .... What better way to get them all in one frame than including them in a Modern AU Aelin's Bachelorette party 😅
Artist @Venusfolk I absolutely adore her and it's always a pleasure working with her
Has sjm ever written a romance that wasn’t a slow burn?
Rhysand x Feyre
Cassian x Nesta
Rowan x Aelin
Aedion x Lysandra
Lorcan x Elide
Chaol x Yrene
Dorian x Manon
Hunt x Bryce
Ruhn x Lidia
Sartaq x Nesryn
The first time we are given Azriel’s POV, he and Elain are already about to kiss. The romance is already burning. This would be the first time SJM has developed a romance between two main characters off page/from the outside looking in.
