I need to make it abundantly Clear that Mother Mary is ALL of our Mothers.
She loves Her Queer kids, Pagans, Witches & Weirdos. She holds us ALL under Her mantle.

"So what we learn from the Black Madonna is that people in the middle ages were reaching for this deeper, more unconscious, more potent experience of the archetypal feminine. They were seeking connection with the autonomous goddess, and they couldn't get that from the vision of Mary that they had at the time.
As Ean Begg writes, 'The traditional Mary acts as the statutory female on a patriarchal board essentially hostile to women and nature'. But the Black Madonna, or as he calls it, the 'Black Virgin', embodies nature; she is the depths of the earth itself. She is an archetypal rebellion; the call to an older, ancient feminine wisdom.
While Mary's whiteness points to her purity, the Black Madonna's darkness points to her liberated sexuality. While the pale madonna is focused in the maternal light as the caretaker of the divine masculine, the Black Madonna is seen in her virginal aspect, which does not mean her sexlessness, and instead means her own agency and power. She does not need to be in relation to a man, and the Christ child that sits on her lap draws from her power rather than she protecting his.
And so what all of this comes together to say is that the Black Madonna was worshipped because she is autonomous. She was worshipped because she symbolized her own power, because people were drawn to the fact that she opened us to a deeper wisdom, to our own unconscious depths.

Working on more Deity AU art. I tend to forget to put them on here since Twitter is my main but would people still like to see it posted here as well?
Designs for God Hero and Omori.
Omori is the main Creator of the six Gods as well as the Hooligans and primarily spends his time monitoring the world he's crafted and keeping tabs on both current affairs and the other God's, primarily Kel who is known to cause mischief time to time.
Hero is the God of Life and works alongside his friends to help breathe life into their creations, primarily Basil and Aubrey's domains.
