Rising from the dead with this
imma slap in imposter!cottagecore! child reader with sentient teyvat here
Mari and the others visit another teyvat to see the god residing there and wandered for a bit and found the god there was gone for over a millennia and hasn't returned but Mari could still feel the divine aura they emitted, like a broken tap
They searched an area flooded with the energy where a humanoid entity greeted them.
"We came to see the Deity that rules over this world" Mari stated as the being scanned all of them from head to toe
"may I ask why?" "Well I noticed their divinity had returned but it behaved differently". "...I see well follow me"
They reached a clearing where a child around 5 years of age played amongst the grass till' they saw a handful of people and they stumbled back from fear, the uncanny being calmly approached the child and soothed them down and introduced them as the god they seek
HHHHHHELLO?????? sentient teyvat + imposter!cottagecore child reader THIS IS SUCH A GOOD COMBO? THIS IS SO YUMMY
i wrote a lil drabble bc i have no self control lol (i also had no idea what to name this so shhshshshhh)
Return from the ashes you call
warnings: cult behaviors, a child under 10 is considered god, sentient teyvat, imposter au, mentioned past abuse.
The soft earth hit Mari's bare feet, a frown touched their lips. This forest... didn't look familiar. They knew every corner of Teyvat, they could recognize each region by sound and scent alone.
Yet this place, full of flush greenery so dense it was almost suffocating, didn't have a hint of recognition.
The only conclusion Mari could come to, as they carefully made their way through the flora, was this was somewhere in Sumeru.
They continued towards the influx of energy, ebbing in and out, dribbling out awkwardly. There was something wrong with this god, something very terribly different. Mari, as the oldest of the gods, decided to investigate. Alone. They had no doubt they could handle their own - even in this unfamiliar territory - and they didn't want to frighten this god with too many faces. An emotionally distressed god is a dangerous one.
Perhaps it was a form of elemental sight leading them towards the energy, a golden trail leading them to the god's destination. The animals gathered around Mari cautiously, a few even bared their fangs.
...Something was definitely wrong.
Mari didn't flinch as a cold blade touched their neck.
They turned their head, their pitch black eyes staring into dull dark green. Oddly, there was no maliciousness in their orbs, as though this was merely a standard greeting.
They were tall, their skin dark, and fairly masculine save for their wavy hair bunched into a braid. Tons of flowers were placed in their hair, quite sloppily but there were many types. Their outfit was simple and covered little skin, a tank top and some shorts that went to the tops of their knees. Showing off their intricate tattoos that moved as well as the many accessories and scars adorning them. The scars were all large and not fully healed, though it didn't deter them in their physical capabilities.
"You..." Their voice was odd, almost as though there were many voices overlapping their own. All similar, the differences being age pitch and gender.
They were not the god Mari was looking for though, the golden ooze was not coming from them. Rather a constant and dull energy came from them. Though it was odd, the best way Mari could describe it would be if you were listening to many different sounds all at once.
A thin smile tugged at Mari's lips, "And who might you be?" Voices creeped into the edge of Mari's voice.
At the sound of it the person smoothly sheathed the weapon as it disappeared into nothingness. They bent into a smooth kneel, "I am Teyvat."
"Teyvat?" An amused lilt decorated Mari's voice, "Never heard of that one before." A serious expression killed the smile on their face, "You're hiding them, show them to me."
Teyvat stood, "Any harm befalls them and the entirety of Teyvat comes crumbling down." The tattoos on them flickered. Flames and destoryed earth decorating their skin.
Mari narrowed her eyes, insulted at the notion, "I'd never dream of harming them. I'm merely here to help. This world is an anomaly as well as your god."
Teyvat smoothly walked past Mari, not sparring them a glance, "Too many people have said that. They've all lied."
Nonetheless, they led Mari to a quaint and well hidden treehouse.
Teyvat stepped on a small platform with a string leading up to the treehouse, urging Mari to step on it as well. They pulled a small string and faintly Mari heard a bell from up top.
The platform started to rise, slowly but surely until they reached the top.
Mari's eyes widened at the high pitched squeal and big, excited (e/c) eyes. A tiny body tumbling straight into Teyvat. They picked the excited thing up, gently tossing them in the air.
Mari gasped at the realization that this is this world's god, the unpredictable gush of golden ooze was being emitted from this tiny thing.
Your hair overgrown, messy with flowers, long and flowing clothes hanging from your body, floral decorations covering your skin and even some of your face. But you were giggling and happy in Teyvat's arms.
That is until you spot Mari.
Your eyes grew haunted, your tiny hands having a death grip on Teyvat.
Mari's heart wrenched and at the same time anger tickled at their heart. Imp has worn the same look when they saw Mari.
"W-w-who's-" Your voice quivered, not tearing your gaze away from Mari for a second.
"They're a friend," Teyvat patted your back, "They're like you. Very powerful. But they're from a different world. A different Teyvat."
"Different Teyvat?" Your eyes turned curious, but you still couldn't look away from Mari.
Mari smiled softly, and it looked so familiar to you, "Yes, I am from a different Teyvat. There are many different different worlds out there."
"There are more Teyvats?" For a moment, you broke your gaze away to look at the Teyvat holding you in their arms.
Mari chuckled, "Ah, I mean the world itself. There is only one humanoid Teyvat, and that's your friend here."
You nodded silently.
"There are more gods out there. Gods like you," Mari continued, carefully drawing closer to the trembling child, "Children who have gone through too much." Mari donned a motherly smile, "The people of this world have hurt you, haven't they? I know a child who has gone through something similar. Their name is Imp, would you like to meet them?"
"Imp..." The child played with the word on their tongue, "They've... the... did..." Tears pricked the corners of their eyes, "Did they get struck by lightning too?"
It felt as though Mari just got dunked in cold water, angry lightning tingled between their fingers. The white hot anger dissipated as soon as it appeared.
Mari frowned, "I never asked them the specifics... but many bad things have happened to them."
"...I'd like to meet them." You whispered.
Mari bent down a bit to meet your eyes, "Then we can go see them right now if you want. Get yourself out of here, but I promise one day we can come back and make this place a happy and safe place. The people that hurt you will never do so again."
Your eyes glimmered with faint hope.
"But let's not worry for that today," Mari held out their hand, "Let's go meet the others."
You glanced up at Teyvat nervously. They nodded encouragingly, a small smile adorning their face.
You grasped their hand and the world faded into white.
That is two children, now, that has looked at Mari afraid. Mari's fists clenched.

Benophie anon here (the first one!) Thank you so much for responding to my ask, it was part rant, part setting the record straight on how benophies were initially feeling after the s3 announcement. Also re: trivias response to my ask: I totally understand why you may not like the book, imo it's probably the worst written book out of the series as a whole, if irc it's also the shortest book in the series, and is at least a 100 pages shorter than rmb, which might explain the pacing (the book has like 7 scenes total) It's also pretty obvious jq just wanted to get the Ben's story out of the way and move on to polin already. I checked the publishing dates for the series and there is only 7 months between tvwlm and aofag, all the other books are a year apart!! So it was definitely rushed. I think the reason I like the story so much is because it has the potential to be phenomenal. Forbidden love, the inter class pairing and yes even the no 5 shenanigans. These tropes and ideas just do it for me. Their story has the potential to be great and I will forever hate jq for not having the skill or patience to deliver on that potential. As for the workplace harassment complaints: idk man let me enjoy my fantasy book in peace✌ . That's the beauty of having eight books in this series! There's something for everyone. The show has a golden opportunity to take what is the foundation for a great story and make some excellent television out of it. I do think that the the reason they skipped over ben is the cinderella aspect of the story, you must remember how much backlash that trope was getting a year ago, the producers probably got scared and pushed the season which is... fair ig? I just hope they don't feel the need to overcorrect the book, the cinderella trope is only like the first 5 chapters anyway and then its a straight forward forbidden lovers trope. The masquerade episode could be one of the best episodes on the show if done properly. Again: the ingredients for the perfect cake are there, The producers just have to follow the instructions and not add any weird shit in there. Sorry for the long reply lol, but you did ask us to write you and essay. (Also I might add on to this essay in a couple hours, I'm definitely forgetting some stuff)
Previous Ask by Benophie Anon
[Part 2 of this ask is below when I answer it!]
Hii bestie, I know this ask has been sitting in my drafts for a while but I'm briefly back to clear out my old asks :)
Thank you for the essay - I really do love reading them and it's just very nice to know that yall are willing to read mine and give the same energy back 😍 I truly have some of the best anons/mutuals/followers ever so thank you yall!
I'm always here to let yall vent and set the record straight - as I always say this blog is a safe space for anyone who wants to make this a safe space and isn't a bigot. I've also sent along your reply to Triv. I had a good chuckle at "Idk man let me enjoy my fantasy book in peace" you're so valid. Do let me know if you do end up reading The Millionaire Marquess since it's similar to Benophie - maybe it's the book that hits the potential of what you're talking abt with AOFAG!
Also hearing about how short the book is and the publication dates,,, JQ REALLY fucked over Benophie for Book!Polin huh that really sucks and I'm sorry to Benophies out there (well the valid ones, the homophobic and racist weirdos can get out of here).
I definitely understand your frustration with books not hitting the potential you see in them. I had that with a book I reviewed recently, Unladylike Lessons In Love (yes I am indeed showering you with all the HR recs because everyone deserves to read outside JQ)
Don't let the execs and higher ups off the hook, anon cos it's NOT fair that they completely messed up the order of the books. Not to mention how they butchered TVWLM. I don't think these people even care abour elevating the books - they just slapped the series name on it for the in built fanbase which ofc the racist part of that fandom got weeded out REAL QUICK after Regé's casting. Now they're using the characters of colour as props to switch out every season to draw in their POC audience. Well they can't do that with the cracker season so good luck to them.
Tumblr media
I'm the same - I only enjoyed AOFAG BECAUSE of Luke T! I don't think I would have been as forgiving of Ben's privileged and lowkey creepy ass in the book if I had read the book first or if Ben was played by anyone else less charming.
I think they aged him down for the ignorance and navieté show version! Also to go with the Marina storyline. He needed to be young and dumb to be tricked by her I guess. Tbh your guess is as good as mine cos this show makes so many questionable choices.
Now at the heels of QC, S3 has a LOT stacked against it. But I don't think the execs or forerunners are gonna even bother trying to redeem her 🤡 so good luck getting the audience to root for her. They're just gonna She's All That it and call it a day tbh. It's going to be bland af and I won't be tuning in. I really am over Bton the show tbh. I'm only still discussing these things cos my blog is so tied to it and my friends are still in it lol. But as you and everyone who follows can see, I have been slowly moving away and expanding my tastes.
To end off, again thanks so much for all your asks! I really do hope S4 is Benophie and they do it justice! For you and my Benophie friends ❤

"My people. My brothers. ...My friends.
Stay strong. Keep the faith. At duty's end, we will meet again. We will. We will.
The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it."
I was trying to do something. Not sure what but it sure is a thing that I sort of just created mindlessly with no references aha! (I really love dialogue from FFXIV, can you tell?)

you bring color to my monochrome world
Tumblr media
Summary: Her smile was the burst of psychedelic hues to Takemichi’s dull, greyscale life.
His loyalty and conviction brought out a multitude of colors to Hinata’s sepia life.
His candid, azure irises painted a sheer, rich texture of prismatic hues to Mikey’s void, insipid life.
Characters:Takemichi H., Hinata T., Manjirou S.
“I wish you a kinder sea.”
— Emily Dickinson
i. I will protect you.
Takemichi was drowning.
He was drowning in the sea of doubt and hopelessness. What was he thinking? Going back to the future to undo every mistake that he did there and save Hina? He couldn’t even save himself from Kiyomasa’s punches and roundhouse kicks. He clenched his fists as he stared at the blinking street lights around the city that evening, ignoring the stares from the other people because of his mottled face and bruised body.
However, was it the right thing to do? To run away again? To struggle in vain and restart his stale life all over again?
He could feel his eyes started to water as he remembered Hina’s forthright yet breathtaking smile when she uttered those words at him in the midst of his own torment and wretchedness: I will protect you.
Her smile was the burst of psychedelic hues to Takemichi’s dull, greyscale life.
And he swore to himself that he won’t fail her this time around.
He would save her.
Even it could him his own sanity and life in the long run.
ii. The only way to win is to kill me! I definitely won’t lose!
The first time that Mikey saw Takemichi was when he was in the middle of an underground fight with Kiyomasa which was to be honest looked like a one-sided battle since the poor guy was being treated like a punching bag by his opponent.
He pursed his lips. Underground fights were stupid and he didn’t want to have the name of the Toman to be tainted by a useless slugfest like this. He was about to make his way there when he stopped midway upon hearing the young man’s speeches that was brimming with firmness and determination.
“The only way to win is to kill me! I definitely won’t lose!”
But the one that caught his full attention was his deep blue eyes shining with tenacity and valor. There were only few people around the world that possessed that kind of reckless yet admirable conviction.
He hadn’t seen that kind of eyes and fighting spirit since his late older brother.
That day he had made up his mind. He needed to have a buddy like Takemichi into his life.
He signaled for Draken to make their presence known when Kiyomasa was getting berserk and demanding for a bat.
The crowd went in complete, deathly silence as they presented themselves and was already beating up Kiyomasa after he succinctly made his existence well known in front of Takemichi.
“Takemitchy. See ya later.” He shot him a carefree grin before he turned away and left the place completely. The young man’s befuddled yet ingenuous expression was forever etched into his memory.
His candid, azure irises painted a sheer, rich texture of prismatic hues to Mikey’s void, insipid life.
iii. I ain’t gonna give her up ever again!
Hinata’s hand was trembling.
Nevertheless, she wouldn’t give these people the satisfaction of seeing the fear creeping up slowly within her. She knew that Takemichi was too trustful and forthright to a fault even though it’s also one of the reasons why she had fallen in love with him.
She just can’t stand there and watched the two delinquents domineered him into their own whims and wants whenever they wanted to. She promised Takemichi that she will protect him after all and she always held and fulfill her own promises.
However, she made a mistake of thinking naively that they can get away unscathed after she pulled out a brave yet foolish stunt of slapping the blond right in front of the class. She tried not to shake as she felt a hand gripped her wrist and heard the threat of the tall male with braided locks that made her swallow thickly.
“Hey. Do you want me to kill you, bitch?”
She heard more words and threats that came out of his mouth before she decided to respond and gave him a piece of her mind. Takemichi was always bruised, crestfallen and lost every time she saw him dropping by her flat. She had enough of these people dictating and treating him like their own slaves. Even if this will put her in a risky situation, she will defend and protect the man she loves.
She was now ready for the consequences of her actions but she was taken aback when Takemichi’s hand gripped the tall male’s shoulder firmly and demanded him to let her go. No. No. No. No. She didn’t want Takemichi to suffer and take the brunt of her actions. If she had to intervene again to save him, then she will have to do it even if it could cost this her own life.
She was about to speak again when Takemichi’s next words made her eyes widened briefly and rooted her to the spot.
“I ain’t gonna give her up ever again!”
It was stated with raw conviction and firm temerity that she had to double take and stared up at him with wide eyes that was brimming with amazement and concern for his well-being now that he challenged the two delinquents in front of them.
‘Takemichi-kun…’ Hinata restrained a gasp as she observed Takemichi in silence. It was like seeing another facet of him that was different from what she used to see. But she liked his tenacity and firmness. He may be a crybaby and wore his heart on his sleeve but she knew that his heart was in the right place.
After a troublesome misunderstanding later and apologies pouring from her lips, she waved goodbye to Takemichi and let him hang out with his newfound friends.
His loyalty and conviction brought out a multitude of colors to Hinata’s sepia life.
And she could never get tired of loving him.
iv. That’s why I’m going to create an era for delinquents.
Mikey stared at the horizon in front of them with a serene smile on his face.
Takemichi observed him from a few distances away, looking at the quiescent male who was sitting on the grass. Draken was also standing a few meters away from them, sporting an unflappable expression on his face.
From what he observed so far, Mikey was a delinquent but he was not a bad guy. He was simply a person who possessed some radical beliefs on his own and translated it into his actions that may be questionable to other people due to his carefree yet strong personality and straightforward manner of speaking.
He had also noted some odd yet interesting behavior from the gang leader himself. Even though he’s mostly laid back and insouciant he had a habit of flipping a switch to his moods seamlessly, revealing a hidden cold anger and ruthless nature from within as he had witnessed on how he just beat up Kiyomasa like it was nothing.
There was a saying that the eyes were the mirror to the soul.
But when he looked at Mikey’s onyx eyes it was a bottomless pit of nothingness. Devoid of any emotion and was a vacuum of an empty black hole. He remembered how he stared down at Kiyomasa like he was nothing more than a pathetic insect under his palm that’s waiting to be crush. And how Mikey’s eyes almost suck the life out of him earlier in that tense situation with Hina, almost resigning himself for the inevitable punch that would come from his hands only to be tricked and playfully derided by him that he’s a dummy and he doesn’t hit girls.
Hence, he had reached a conclusion that Mikey was hard to understand and read his intentions sometimes.
However, one thing was for sure: Mikey was not a bad person and he’d be willing to help and save him alongside with Hina to prevent them from meeting their miserable future and demise.
He just had to convince Naoto to get to the bottom of the problem and find out the reason why Mikey turned out the way he was in the future.
“That’s why I’m going to create an era for delinquents.”
The gang leader didn’t need to convince him twice when he asked him to join his gang after he shared his goal and vision to him. Just looking at his charismatic smile and earnestness, Takemichi knew that he was drawn in. Hook. Line. And sinker.
v. You should come with me. I like your guts. Hanagaki Takemichi.
He stood up but he was still looking at the horizon when he finally revealed his vision and intentions to him, uttering his name correctly for the first time.
“You should come with me. I like your guts. Hanagaki Takemichi.”
Mikey couldn’t picture out his exact reaction to his words but he could already surmised the genuine astonishment and wonder that was written on his clear blue eyes. Then the seriousness and determination that would crossed his face afterwards.
That’s the kind of guy Takemichi was. Honest, sincere, determined yet reckless sometimes when it came to defending his beliefs and the people that he mostly cares about. It’s easy to read him. Just dropped a verbal bomb in front of him and he’ll be getting a multitude of interesting expressions from his face.
…and there were times that he isn’t.
He had seen how Takemichi would be like an open book but with hidden pages that was not visible to the naked eye. Takemichi wasn’t a liar yet he was a secretive person as well. He cannot forget his initial reaction when he asked him casually if he’s really a middle schooler in that school. It was an unguarded moment for the young lad and he had a look that screamed of panic and anxiousness.
Interesting.
Even though Takemichi was an emotionally expressive person and vocal about what he believed was right and wrong, he still couldn’t decipher what his real purpose was. All he knew as of the moment was, he was too protective of his girlfriend Hinata who gave him an amazing slap earlier.
He was willing to defend and fight for her even against to the people like them.
What a reckless guy. But he guessed that was a part of Takemichi’s own charm. He couldn’t help but to be intrigue by this person who possessed those electrifying sky-blue irises and a sheer will determination.
‘Hinata huh? What a lucky gal…’ Mikey thought as he gazed at Takemichi’s profile.
For now, he could only basked in the vibrancy and vivid hues of Takemichi’s presence, coloring his monochromatic world with the promises of hope for the future.
(A/N: I don’t own Tokyo Revengers and any of the characters from this franchise. Inspired by the scenes that shows the relationship and interactions of Takemichi with Hinata and Mikey. I believed in Takemikeyhina supremacy but I lived for some drizzle of angst and pining hence the end results of this one shot. Apologies in advance for some grammatical errors and if some of them are OOC as English is not my native language and I’ve tried my best to keep them in character. Reviews are amusing hence I look forward to hear them from you).

👼She rolls her eyes and lets out an annoyed sigh, she was not interested in this man in the slightest and he wasn’t even that good in bed, it was his money she was after, and she would leave the relationship with all of it after they get married. He had been talking about marriage for the past few months seeing as they had been together for a few years, completely unaware of how disinterested she actually is. Anne was not a woman to fall in love, nor was she the type of woman to settle down and get married. 👼
Rita leads Anne from the courtroom, the pair laughing quietly and talking amongst themselves as they made their way to an elevator. Rita gestured for Anne to enter before she went to herself, “Rita!” the older woman fights the urge to roll her eyes, telling Anne where she was to go and how to get there before she closes the elevator door. She turns to face the woman who yelled her name “Oh what a pleasant surprise, Detective Benson. What do I owe the pleasure?”
Olivia shakes her head, jaw set firm as she stops in front of Rita “What the fuck are you doing? The evidence shows that she was the one that set the crime up! Who cares if Prestwick was blackmailed!? Gillette killed her damned parents and you know it. Just because you have some vendetta with my team doesn’t-“
Rita laughs, shaking her head with an amused smile on her face “How many times must we do this, Olivia? It is my job to defend people regardless of what they do, just like it is your job to investigate crimes ethically. I know I’m doing my job to the books; I can’t say the same about you. My advice, lie back and pretend like you’re enjoying it. You’ll last longer.” She steps into the elevator after the doors ding open, she turns to give the detective one last cursory glance “You lost, Benson.” She states before the doors close.
It doesn’t matter whether she believes Anne killed her parents or not, the woman had paid her generously to defend her and she was going to do just that. Nor does it matter the two have history, it didn’t impact the case or her ability to do her job. She was looking forward to the end of it though so she could finally actually enjoy a quiet drink without the guilt of knowing she should be working instead.
Once the doors open, she makes her way quickly to where Anne should be, letting out a breath of relief when she sees Anne sitting back in one of the seats, her blazer draped over the back of it. “You really think I’d risk doing a runner after the absolute field day you had out there? Ms. Calhoun I’m offended” she laughs, a coy smirk tugging at her lips “I’m saving the energy for once I’m cleared of my charges. How does that sound? You come back to the estate and unwind, just like the-“
Rita hushes her, swatting her arm lightly as she takes a seat opposite the blonde “Ms. Gillette! The walls have ears.” She shrugs her blazer off as well and leans back in her seat, propping her elbow up on the armrest before leaning her head against it, a small smile on her face as she looks at the woman opposite her.
“I never thought I’d be defending you in a murder case too, Anne. It’s one thing helping you get out of minor assault charges, but for a double-homicide?” She lets out a laugh, shaking her head “That is something else entirely. You were always one to make a grand show of things though, hm?” Rita quirks a brow at the blonde, a faint smirk tugging at her lips which earns an eye-roll and scoff from the blonde.
“Oh please Rita, I’m hardly as dramatic as that Tindall woman. Now, after this is all over, would you like to join me for drinks? Nothing else will happen, just an extra thank you for your hard work.” Rita sighs quietly “I can’t- I owe Novak a round after being so rough on her in court. She’s an amazing lawyer and a hard-worker, I’d rather not burn that bridge.”
Rita’s phone buzzes against the table and she immediately grabs it, turning the screen on to see the message before her eyes dart to Anne’s “They’ve reached a verdict, Ms. Gillette” she breathes out, a very faint hint of a nervous waver. “Well then, let’s get this over and done with.” Anne stands up and puts her blazer on, doing a button up in the middle then brushing some of her hair behind her ear. She follows Rita out of the room and down the hall to the elevator, this is the first time since this case started that she feels genuinely nervous- Not that she committed the crime, anyone would be nervous if they were in court.
Rita gives Anne’s arm a gentle squeeze before they exit the elevator and make their way into the court room, both ignoring the glares coming from the prosecution as they take a seat behind their table. “All stand for the Judge.” They do just that, Rita glancing at Casey out the corner of her eye, noticing how tense she appears before they take their seats again once the Judge has sat down.
Court:                 Will the jury foreperson please stand. Has the jury reached a unanimous verdict?
Foreperson:          Yes.
                                  CLERK TAKES THE VERDICT FORM
AND HANDS IT TO THE JUDGE.
Rita rests her hand on Anne’s thigh, giving it a reassuring squeeze upon noticing how anxious the woman was before returning her hand to rest on the table with her other one.
Judge:                    The jury find the defendant not guilty. The defendant is free to go home. Lets hope we don’t see you in this court again, Ms. Gillette. The jury is thanked and excused. Court is adjourned.
Anne lets out a shaky breath before standing up and throwing her arms around Rita in a tight hug, repeatedly mumbling thank you to her. Rita returns the hug before pulling back slightly, gently wiping away the few tears that had spilled onto Anne’s cheeks, giving her a soft smile “I told you that I’d make sure you were found not guilty, Ms. Gillette. I’m a woman of my word, you should know that by now.”
Anne smiles back and lets go of Rita before running a hand through her short blonde hair “A miracle worker.” She glances over Rita’s shoulder and sees Casey watching intently, a disheartened look on her face before returning her gaze back to the woman in front of her “I should get going, it looks like Casey wants a word with you and she definitely looks like she needs a few drinks. I’ll see you around, Rita.” She kisses the woman’s cheek in farewell before taking her leave, feeling considerably lighter and more free now that the case is over.
Once she is out of the courthouse, she takes out her phone and calls her boyfriend- well, he thinks he’s her boyfriend, but she really couldn’t care less. “Hi darling, you’re talking to a free woman. No I’m not upset you couldn’t be in court, it would hardly be a good look for a detective to be seen on the alleged criminal’s side. You can make it up to me tonight when you take me out for dinner- Yes Yn can come along too, she is your daughter after all. I will take her shopping for something nice- I won’t be spoiling the girl. She needs nicer clothing to go to the restaurant I have in mind. Don’t worry- I already told you I am not going to spoil the girl. I don’t like repeating myself so it would do you some good to actually listen. I’ll pick her up from university and we’ll go from there. Mhmm, love you too. See you tonight.”
She rolls her eyes and lets out an annoyed sigh, she was not interested in this man in the slightest and he wasn’t even that good in bed, it was his money she was after, and she would leave the relationship with all of it after they get married. He had been talking about marriage for the past few months seeing as they had been together for a few years, completely unaware of how disinterested she actually is. Anne was not a woman to fall in love, nor was she the type of woman to settle down and get married.
“You better not fuck this family up too, Ms. Gillette” Anne turns to find Olivia walking towards her, thoroughly pissed off “Yn is like a daughter to me, so if I find out you do anything to upset her-“ The blonde gives her a bored look “Do you have nothing better to do, Olivia? Were you not listening to what the judge said? I’m an innocent woman, so no, I didn’t fuck my family up, daddy did when he killed my mother before himself.”
She takes a step closer to the brunette, a smug smirk settling on her face “You may be like a mother to her, Olivia, but unlike you… I actually am her step-mom, something you will never be. Now, this may be a surprise to you, seeing as you’re someone that never works, I have things to do including taking Yn clothes shopping for our celebratory dinner tonight. You’re not invited.” She fakes a pout “How unfortunate” before laughing and making her way to the car that was waiting for her before getting in, telling the driver where to go.

Hot Waters
A/N: this one’s a little more dialogue, but you manage a hotel Harry stays at and have to help him with an issue.
Part 2
———————————————————
As a manager of an upscale hotel I saw a lot of celebrities filter through the door. I could probably write a book, my own version of a tell-all exposing some celebs for what they really were. Sometimes the nicest ones were the snappiest and other times, the ones you thought were rude and stuck up took the extra time to thank your staff warmly and treat everyone with respect.
I’m in for the evening—that’s when most of them came under cover of the night, when they didn’t want the papps to know they were in town. Tonight’s guest stays a few feet from the counter as his manager or whoever checks him in. A false name of course, James Smith.
I glance at the man, the soft curls and stylish outfit, strong jawline and lean body. I could tell it was Harry Styles, this was a first for me. I could add him to the imaginary tell-all book in my head: oddly mute but just as cute in person. He looks antsy, fidgeting with his phone.
He catches me staring and nods. I give him my best customer smile and get back to the man finding his ID to show me.
“Thank you sir, here’s the key cards to your suites. Enjoy your stay!”
They barely acknowledge me, he’s already grabbing Harry’s arm and pushing him towards the elevators. Cool.
I don’t think much of it until five minutes before I leave for the night. It had been a long day for me covering since the breakfast shift—the morning manager was out sick. I was ready to fall asleep on my ride home but one of my newer staff comes up to me urgently.
“Hey, Y/N, suite 1203, the man is really annoyed and saying his hot water isn’t working.”
“Did you tell him how to turn the hot water on?” I ask, thinking she didn’t do a thorough job.
“Yes,” she looks upset. “Like three times before he just asked to speak to someone else.”
“Okay...” I wander to the front and take him off from holding. I check our database ahead of time for the name, James Smith. Of course. “Hello Mr. Smith, I heard about your hot water. It should be working-“
“It’s not! I got in thinking it would heat up but I was drenched with ice cold bloody water!” He sounds like a child about to throw a tantrum. I found working for celebs was just like working for glorified children sometimes.
“No other suite has made this complaint, the hot water is definitely working. Would you like a staff member to come check?”
He finally sounds reasonable, “Yes please, that would be great.”
“Let’s go,” I tell the newbie, she was still in training so it would be a good opportunity. But just as I step out from behind the counter an elderly customer walks up and I have to leave her behind. Guess this was my last task before heading home.
I knock on the door 1203 and hear a shout from inside that it’s open. I try the lock but it isn’t so I just use the master key and slip inside.
“Hi, Mr. Smith-“
“We both know it’s Styles,” Harry...Mr. Styles is dressed in nothing but a towel around his waist. His hair is wet and he really looks like a teenage fantasy. And with the way my eyes are glued to his abs, maybe I was reliving some teenage fantasy.
“Mr. Styles,” I clear my throat but from the way his mouth quirks I know the silence between when he spoke and I responded was a little too long. Long enough to notice I was staring. Jesus, I had to stay professional. I recall how he sounded on the phone-he’s just a big man baby, I remind myself. I was just way too single. “I can show you how to turn the hot water on so you don’t run into this again. We apologise for the trouble.”
He sighs, “You don’t need to apologise love, I was just frustrated b’cuz a nice relaxing shower turned into an ice bath.”
I let out the breath I was holding and erase the entry I’d written in my head about him so far. Replace man baby with: don’t judge based off his first impression, might be as kind as everyone says?
“Well we’re sorry about that anyway,” I head to the bathroom. I try to ignore the way he’d made the room personal in such a short amount of time. It wasn’t my job to pry into my customer’s personal lives...but it was so tempting!
I head to the shower and show him where to turn to get the hot water. It was simple but he claims the showers he’s used to, have the hot and cold on opposite sides. I would have pointed out there was an H and C engraved into the handle but the shower is such a small space and he crowds over me as he pays attention, I didn’t want to stay any longer. I’m very aware his towel brushing up beside me is the only thing he has on. I stumble back and compose myself.
“Is there anything else I can get you sir?”
“Please it’s Harry, don’t call me sir. Makes me feel weird.”
“Right, Harry.” I walk out into the bedroom and he follows. “Do you need anything else?”
“Um,” he looks off to the side to think and I can’t help myself—I take the moment he’s distracted to drink him in. He was fine indeed. My eyes catch on his famous butterfly tattoo, actually all of them. It was cool seeing them in person.
“You have any of your own?” Harry asks and my eyes snap up. I feel myself get hot, he caught me staring! But he doesn’t seem angry, he seems to think I was looking at his tattoos. I roll with it.
“Don’t tell my mom but yeah,” I reply. I only had two and managed to keep them secret from my very traditional family. Harry laughs and asks to see them. I show him the wildflower curved behind my ear. His breath tickles my hand that holds my ear down to show him.
“How do you manage to hide that?” He asks. I’m suddenly self conscious he’s studying me so close.
“A little bit of foundation, a lot of wearing my hair down.”
“Surely your mum wouldn’t care that much—you’re an adult.”
“You haven’t met my mom,” I think about her. “She’d say something like, ‘my tattoos are the reason I haven’t settled down’ or something.”
“Bloody hell,” he laughs. I feel a strange high knowing I’m making him laugh, he was being so friendly. Like an old friend. It was rare, but sometimes I forgot a customer was a hot shot musician or actor when I had one-on-ones. That usually scored them a down-to-earth point in my imaginary book. Maybe I just caught him at a bad time earlier, I think as he points to his tattoos, “I don’t want to know what your mum would say to me.”
“Um, Sign my arm so I can ink it probably?” I joke. I warm as he laughs. “She’s actually a huge fan of you, always has plenty of commentary when we watch the award shows. Claims she dated someone who looked just like you in high school.”
Oh god, I was blabbering. But from his expression, he finds it amusing.
“That’s lovely,” he studies my face again and I try not to squirm. I retreat back into professionalism, about to ask if he needed anything before I left—my shift probably ended. But he asks, “You said there were two. What about the second one?”
My body feels prickly, this was a customer and I was about to flash him-well not entirely but showing him where my second was...it was a big no being who I was and who he was!
“Right here,” I casually slap the general area of my underboob when he continues waiting. He raises an eyebrows and I just bite my lip. I was past nervous—at this point I was surprised my legs themselves hadn’t given away.
“May I see?” He asks, his face is intimidating when he asks so seriously. At least he was being polite, and he seemed genuinely interested.
Wait, was I really doing this?
“I...don’t know if that’s the best idea?” I squeak. He flashes me a smile could make a grown woman like me take off my shirt to show him. But I’m frozen in place.
“Is it personal?” He asks. Oh my god he didn’t get why I didn’t want to show it. Maybe I was the one making it a big deal.
Okay, I would show him.
“No, it just requires me to untuck my shirt,” I joke. “But I’m off for the night now anyway so I guess I can...” Every tug of the fabric feels like it’s slow motion, the blood rushing to my ears sounds like the roar of the ocean. He steps closer to me—still only in a towel! And finally I lift up the shit to just under my bra, the tattoo is the words the sun will rise again curving under my boob. It was a gentle reminder I kept close to my heart, and Harry was the first person aside from my best friend I had shown this to. It was strangely intimate.
He reaches out his hand and stops halfway, realising where he would be putting his hand. He retracts it and lets out a nervous laugh. I almost sigh at the missed contact.
“That’s really beautiful. I like the quote,” he says honestly.
“Yeah,” I can barely meet his eye. “It’s a good reminder. I can think of like, 10 worst-case-scenarios at any given moment. So...”
I trail off. The tension in the room seems to have grown in the last ten minutes. I’m inhaling it, and Harry is breathing it. And when I finally make eye contact with him, I can’t tell if he’s judging me or just watching me. He’s chewing on his bottom lip just staring at me, I can’t help but feel initimidated.
“Maybe I’ll get going if you hav-“
“You’re off your shift?” Harry cuts me off.
“Well,” I check my watch. “As of ten minutes ago yes.”
“What would you say to joining me for a drink?” Harry asks. Was this a drink drink? Oh my god, is this what happens when you flash someone your underboob.
“I’m not sure if that would be appropriate,” I feed the automatic line we’re all trained to say. But inside, I’m muffling my heart that wants to say yes I though you’d never ask.
“Well,” Harry says. “You’re just providing superior customer service.”
“But I’m off the clock.”
“So hard working,” Harry jokes. “She stays even after her shift is over.”
“You’re also dressed in just a towel,” I point out. He looks down and even he seems surprised. I laugh, “So that won’t exactly go down very well with my boss.”
“Aren’t you the boss?” Harry asks, his eyes scanning his open suitcase to pull out sweats. He steps into the bathroom—where moments earlier he was demanding a hot shower.
“Sort of, I co-manage. But I don’t own the hotel so...I have to answer to someone. Hey-didn’t you desperately need a hot shower?”
Harry doesn’t even close the door, but a minute later he’s back out in sweats. “I did, it was a long day travelling and I wanted to relax. But you’ve managed to do that for me.”
“Nice to know I’ve got the same charm as a hot shower,” I say cheekily.
“You’ve got more charm than a hot shower,” Harry goes to the minibar. “Now what can I make you?”
“Oh you’re making the drinks? Here? I can just ask the staff to bring up-“
“No, just sit down. I’m taking care of this.”
I boost myself up onto the dresser and watch him mix drinks. This close, I can reach out and trail my hands over his tattoos, see the stubble coming into his face, see the dimension to his hair. I was so totally single, just being this close to someone remotely good looking turned me absolutely gaga.
“So tell me honestly, how this is,” Harry hands me the concoction, watching me closely. I take a sip and nearly snort it out, it was strong.
“I don’t think I could drive home if I drink all of this,” I cough. “That almost went down the wrong pipe.”
Harry takes a big sip of his and laughs, “If you’re driving, don’t take any more of this.”
I settle the flute down and Harry places his down beside mine.
“I don’t have anything else to offer,” he looks at me.
“I can still ring something up for you.”
“I think I already rang up what I wanted,” he leans in, he was flirting. With me! And I can’t help myself. I lean towards him too. I forget where I am and what kind of trouble I could land myself in if I let this go through. I can’t even think straight, I just want to-
His fingers on my face jolt me out of my hypnosis. I lean back and slide off the dresser. I could get fired! What was I thinking!?
“Where are you going?” His brows knit together as I move away from him.
“I should get going home, I’ve been in since 6am.”
“Oh course,” Harry clears his throat. “Yeah-sorry I didn’t mean to keep you.”
“No it’s fine,” I say. “I would love to provide some of that superior customer service. But I really am functioning on one bar right now. I’ve got to go home and recharge.”
“Recharge yeah? A hot shower maybe?” Harry teases.
“Hm, yeah if I can get the hot water to work,” I tease back and I swear he blushes.
“I know a place where the hot water works 100%,” he tilts his head to his bathroom. Now it’s my turn to blush and walk towards the door.
“Alright,” he sticks out his hand when I turn to say bye. I stare at it before realising he wanted me to shake it. “Goodnight.”
I laugh and take it, “Goodnight Mr. Styles.”
Oh for god’s sake, I’m caught staring into his eyes again as we shake hands. He doesn’t let go of my hand and I can’t break eye contact. Finally, he cracks a smile and I look away. I really had to go or I could not hold myself back.
“Don’t hesistate to contact front desk for anything,” I say as I open his door. “And maybe don’t drink too many of that whatever mix you made.”
He pouts, “It’s the only thing keeping me company tonight.” Maybe I was right, he was a big baby. But one who’s cheeks I wanted to pinch. I resist the urge and wave before heading to the elevators.
I let out a breath when I get on. If I wasn’t careful, the man in 1203 could land in me some hot waters, no pun intended. If I wanted to keep my job that I loved, I had to make sure I steered clear of him. For good. And maybe find myself a boyfriend. Because...that was a close one.

not-quite-fic i write in notes app #3
hello @lucdarling said to post this so i will. becos we can never have too much sibling content. <3
Tumblr media
(i am assuming that in the max moves out au, billys already left? yes?? thats how im playing it dgfgsg)
billy walking out the second he can, no looking back, or at least no looking back that max saw.
which is fucked up cos there was DEFINITELY more to billys side of the story in all this, but the gist of it that max got? the pieces she put together from things neil said, bits and pieces she overheard and saw when she wasn't meant to be looking? billy fucking left, and he barely even said goodbye.
and max's teenage fury and emotions truly peak in the next few months/years, but she's fucking entitled to every emotion she has. fuck what the school councillor says. fuck what her mum says. definitely fuck what neil says.
and the longer billy's away, the more she starts piecing together a different picture of why billy left, but also she hates it. it doesn't matter how bad things got, there's just no way billy would've walked out and abandoned her like his mother abandoned him, he knows how that feels. he would never.
but he did.
and max damn well is never gonna forgive him for that.
and it's worse, cos billy may have left, just fucking moved out without even so much as a two weeks notice, but he's still around. he still talks to her, calls her, checks in on her. acts like he gives a fuck.
and max figures out what hes fishing for the hard way one night, after neil gets the jack of her coming home after curfew. usually susan manages to talk him down, promises she can deal with max. but this is the 3rd time in a week.
he's slapped her before, yelled at her to quit acting like a child, take some responsibility for her actions. think about how her being late has made dinner go cold, dinner that susan worked hard on.
but tonight it wasn't just a slap, it was a grab and a shove, it was a hand wrapped so fucking tight around her arm and her back flat against the wall as neil had layed into her, not even yelling, just sounding so fucking menacing.
(she laid in bed that night, thinking bout how the sound of her back hitting the wall matched exactly with the sounds that use to come from billys room late at night. angrily wiping away the tears cos billy fucking left.)
so billy can talk, can ask, can fish all be wants. she can handle neil, she can handle her mum being spineless.
(she can NOT get the image of her mum out of her head, the way she stood back, looking terrified but resigned, as neil had max crowded against that wall. how after her initial attempt of offering to dealing w max herself was cut off, she didn't even try again. didn't even raise a hand or move a foot to step in.)
she can handle everything that life throws at her. she sure as shit doesn't need billy.
before she knows it, she's graduating. she's more or less on the outs with the party, her choice, not theirs. god knows they still try, lucas especially.
she didn't get into college, didn't even apply to anything other than community. probably would've got in had she applied herself like some of her teachers begged, but most of them stopped caring.
phonecalls with billy are sporadic and getting more awkward with time. she'll tell him meaningless stuff to pass the conversation, to keep him from asking too many questions, but that's it.
and billy knowing that so much is wrong, that theres so much not being said, but he can't go back. he can't ever go back. neil made that crystal fucking clear. he just needs to save up a little bit more money, enough so that he can send max the bus/plane ticket, and max can come live with him, they can be back living by the water. he figured he had until she graduated before it became absolutely crucial.
him finally getting everything in order, finally getting ready to tell her that he's got a ticket with her name on it, has got a goddamn apartment and a steady job and he's finally getting his shit together.
and before he can even get the words out, she's cutting him off and telling him she's got a place, that she's moving in with some stranger from craigslist or some shit, that she moved last thursday.
and so so many red flags are going off but he's so like. offended. okay not offended but like. if things were bad bad, surely she would've told him. she had to have known the reason billy left, that it wasn't his choice. nothing in that house was ever his fucking choice.
but the few times he asks about it, she either raves about how good her new place is, or changes the subject. tells him that her roommate is the best, even buys her groceries when shes low on money.
(complete fucking lie and shes been living off ramen for months and she doesn't see that changing anytime soon, but whatever.)
and billy just looks at the ticket he was gonna send to her, and decides against it. thinks maybe he's read everything wrong, that neil wasn't lying when he said that the temper that he used on billy was just billy's effect on him. that maybe he hasn't touched max at all. that maybe susan stepped the fuck up.
and so they just never talk about it. it becomes this thing that festers. billy going from being so fucking worried but so sure he could fix everything, he just needed time, and it would all work out, to just. helplessly resigned.
and max just always lowkey blaming billy for walking out. never knowing what actually went down, and straight up refusing to find out. if billy had a good reason, he hasn't shared it with her, and she's sure as shit not gonna go cry to him asking for an explanation.
(maybe, in the future, after they've slowly lost contact w each other. max stops picking up the phone. then taking a day or two to reply. then a week. then a month. billy's the one that left, max is just finishing what he started.
but like. after that, when they're maybe in their twenties. when they've both got some therapy in them. or maybe found some friends or just someone that's made them wanna grow up a bit. and so maybe one reaches out to the other. just wanting to check in. and maybe they start talking again. every now and again at first, but then it's every week.
then they finally talk about it one day. wasn't planned. it just got brought up somehow. billy mentioning the fact that he's surprised she never ended up back in cali, maybe it was a good thing he never gave her that ticket, since she's so happy living on the east coast. her asking what ticket? it just snowballing from there.)

Falling For The Sheriff
Tumblr media
Summary:  Your car breaks down just outside a small southern town, and the first person to your ‘rescue’ is no one other than the Sheriff of the town, Dean Winchester.
Chapter One
Damn, all you could get on the radio was country. Country, country and more country. You slapped your hand on the dial, turning it off. You turned up your air con. Christ was it hot in this backwater hick town.
That was the moment your car decided to splutter and choke.
“Oh no. Please, not now. Not now.”
Your car died and you groaned. Trust you to be stuck in the middle of some outback tiny town.
“Shit.”
Your hands smacked your wheel and you swung the car door wide enough for it to break off from the hinges. You stepped out into the sweltering heat.
Christ. You felt your forehead bead with sweat. You checked your phone. Ugh it wasn’t even three. You went to lift the top of your car, but your fingers burned on the black metal. You cried out in pain, snatching your hands, curling them to your body.
You kicked your car.
“Stupid piece of shi-”
“Help you, ma’am?”
You jumped and whirled around in the middle of a paddy, now looking like a deer in headlights.
The man standing before you stood in front of a black ‘69 Chevy Impala. He wore a stark white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and black pants. His outfit complete with bolo tie, tan cowboy boots and a Stetson.
He was a young good-looking man.
“My car just quit on me.”
“I’ll have Bobby take a look at it.”
His voice was deep with that distinctive southern drawl.
“Oh, uh, thanks.”
“You’re not from around here, are you?”
“My accent give it away?”
“All right, little miss, no need for the sarcasm. Or I’ll have you for sass talking the Sheriff.”
He was the Sheriff?!!!
SHIT!!
“Are you really the Sheriff?” You went around to the back of your car and popped the trunk. You pulled out your suitcase, the weight almost pulling you down with it.
You looked at the man and he had his badge out. Ah shit.
“That real enough for ya?”
You nodded.
“Come on, I’ll take you to the inn, Jodie loves new faces.”
You pulled your suitcase not five steps and the handle broke.
“You kidding me?! Stupid shit!”
You went to kick it, but the Sheriff got there before you, picking up the case.
“Woah, woah now. Don’t want any injuries before you get rested. Plus, I’m the one that’s gotta write it up.”
“I got a case of the bad luck.”
“Well, now that last case of bad luck bought you here, to Creedence Creek, Texas.”
He stepped forward and grabbed the handle attached to your case and picked it up, carrying it with ease to his car. He popped the trunk, then placed it inside.
“C’mon on, you don’t wanna die of thirst out here do ya?”
You shook your head.
“No, sir.”
He went around to the passenger side door and opened it for you.
“Is being chivalrous, necessary?” You asked getting in.
“No, but it’s how many of us are raised. It’s a way of life.”
Oh. Now you felt like an ass and felt you had insulted him. He closed the passenger side door and made his way to the driver’s side. He slid in and pulled his phone out, making a call.
“Bobby! Hey, how ya doin’?”
You couldn’t hear the other side.
“I’m good, n’aw Bobs, I can’t tonight, got a ton of work waitin’ me for me back at the office. Raincheck on them drinks, alright. Alright. Listen, I got a car, just a little way’s out of town. Black, small, city car y’know the kind. Massachusetts plate, number beginning 429, yeah, you’ll know when ya see it. Great. Awesome. Thanks, I owe you one, Bobby.”
He hung up and started the engine, then drove off.
“I didn’t get your name back there, Miss.”
“I didn’t get yours either.”
He gave a small laugh.
“Alright, formally I’m known as Sheriff Winchester, but everybody in town knows me as Dean.”
Sheriff Dean Winchester. It had a nice ring to it.
“What about you?”
“Y/N. Not Sheriff, from Boston.”
“Ah a city gal. The locals are gunna love you.”
You snorted. That was an understatement, if you ever knew one. In the backwater town that was Creedence Creek, they would have a whale of a time telling you that your wat wasn’t the way things go around here. And you knew it. Southerners didn’t really mix with northern city goers. Or city goers in general.
“Will my car be okay?”
“It’ll be fine, ain’t nobody gonna take it if that’s what you’re worried about.”
It had crossed your mind and you definitely didn’t feel safe leaving it behind.
“If it’ll make you feel any better, I’ll have Bobby give you a call, I’m sure your number is tied to the plate. May I ask what you were doin’ down here? I mean to say, we don’t get a lot of city goers, that is.”
You had been looking at the scenery on the way into town.
“I had to bail out my mom.”
You didn’t want to say any more than that. Telling him a tiny snippet of the truth was more than enough.
“So, you grew up in Texas?”
You nodded. It would be best not to divulge any more family trauma. Not right now. The quicker you got home, the quicker you could forget ever coming down here.
“Alright, not much of a talker, I see. Well, we’ll be arriving shortly.”
He didn’t say anything more, to which you were grateful.
He slowed as he turned a corner. It was like the town had appeared out of nowhere. A blink and you’d miss it, kind of thing. Shops lined the main parade, with roads and paths leading away. He turned another corner and another, then entered a lot and parked in front of the sign which read Sheriff. Up ahead was the police station.
“I won’t be long. I just gotta send Bobby the number.”
You nodded.
“You can get out and stretch your legs if you like.”
You opened the door, taking him up on his offer. Opening the door had been a mistake. It was hotter than hell.
“If you come in, I can get you some water.”
You nodded.
“Thanks.”
You followed him in.
His co-workers turned as he walked in, then noticed you. You hoped to God they wouldn’t ‘recognise’ you. It wasn’t like your rap sheet was a mile long, it contained mainly a few misdemeanours, to which you had paid your fines and done the community service that was asked, but the biggie was when you had been caught with a tiny baggie which turned out to be cocaine.
You had thought your own mother would have bailed you out. No. Instead she left you to suffer the consequences she should have had. It had almost cost you your career and the ability to move out of state, but through a stroke of luck they believed in second chances and took you on.
“What did we tell you about picking up pretty strays, boss?”
“Working whilst you’re working, Winchester?”
You gave the Sheriff an odd look. Was it normal for him to pick up potential dates whilst out on patrol?
“Can it. Get her a drink of water from the cooler. She’s dyin’ of thirst,” He turned to you and gestured for you to follow. “This way.”
He walked through the tiny precinct to a little office in the corner.
“It ain’t much but it’s mine.”
You sat, waiting for him to transfer the necessary information to Bobby.
“You like it here?”
He looked up from his computer at you.
“I’m very happy here.”
He turned his attention back to his screen and whistled. Crap.
“Oofta, jaywalking, possession of marijuana, drunk and disorderly, and possession of cocaine.”
“Jesus, look, I served my time and the misdemeanours are about to come off my record anyway.”
“That felony will be on there for some time, little lady.”
You rolled your eyes at him. You could thank your mom for that.
“Whatever just send him my number and plate info. The quicker my car is fixed, the quicker I can leave this shitpot town.”
You stood up and walked out, ignoring the officer who had water in a plastic cup for you.
“I hate small towns.”
You felt too close to home. Too close for your liking. Sure, Texas was big but adding a few more states in between was preferable.
Now outside, you looked to the trunk of the Impala. Later, right now you needed space. He already had the wrong idea about you and didn’t need him sticking his oar in where it didn’t belong. You had no idea what this Jodie person looked like, nor where the inn was. With the sun beating on you hard, you made a temporary shade with your hand and walked back into the parade.
You only managed a couple minutes before the black Impala slowed beside you and a window rolled down.
“Get in the car, you’ll die of friggin’ heatstroke out here.”
You kept on walking.
“Sheriff’s orders. Don’t make me arrest you.”
“You’d love that wouldn’t you.”
He sighed and stopped the car. Stepping out he made his way to you. He no longer had his Stetson on, but his brown hair was teased into a simple style, a hair barely out of place. Without the hat, the sun did a number on his green eyes and making them shine just as bright as emeralds.
“I won’t ask, and we can both forget this whole encounter when you leave. I’ll take you to Jodie’s, she’s expectin’ you. Also, rude, what you said abou’ my town. Don’t do that again, ‘kay?”
“Fine.”
He opened the door for you, and you got in. Once inside, he handed you the clear plastic container with water in.
“Heatstroke is no joke. It gets hot out here and if you don’t watch yourself you can get seriously dehydrated.”
You snorted, a Sheriff dedicated to his people and those just passing through, it was unreal.
“I look after my people, even fancy city folk who aren’t my people.”
You took the cup and drank. The liquid was cool and easily slid down your dry throat, though you suspected it had warmed up slightly. Secretly you were grateful, as you had felt he beginnings of a headache coming on. Hopefully at the inn, you could get settled and take a painkiller or two to stave it off altogether.
“There’s a town BBQ tonight, everyone is welcome. You should join, say hi to a few folks. They love new faces.”
The idea of free food was appealing.
“Plenty of food and plenty of beer.”
“You gonna order me to go?”
“No, no. That would be an abuse of power.”
“Right.”
“Well it’ll be at Oakwood’s Park, if you’re interested, at 5:30 ‘til late.”
You nodded and then placed the plastic cup in the holder, wondering how long the drive was to the inn. It was getting real awkward.
The car turned a corner and you met with a beautiful and large cabin. The awning read Jodie’s. Thank God. He turned into a parking spot and cut the engine. You got out, as did he and went to the trunk. He gestured at you to go to the front door, as he pulled your case out.
“Sheriff? What can I do for you?”
You gave an awkward smile.
“Oooh a new face, come on, lets get you in and get you an iced tea.”
Oh dear. You grimaced. Iced tea was not for you.
“Water’s fine.”
“Well come on in, I’m Jodie, owner of Jodie’s and I see you met our lovely Sheriff,” She leaned in as you walked. “Don’t you think the Sheriff is one fine man? Plus, I think he’s got a eye on you.”
Probably because you were still a felon in his eyes, but you didn’t say that out loud. Didn’t need the whole town knowing everything about you.
“Uhuh.”
Small towns were not your thing.
Sheriff Winchester placed your case down beside you before hugging Jodie.
“Well, I’ll leave you to it, it was nice seeing you Jodes, but I gotta shoot, get back to the office.”
“Aw, youre not gonna stay for an iced tea? Never mind, we can have a good catchup at the BBQ tonight.”
“Can’t, sorry Jodes, you know how it is, got paperwork pilin’ high. It’s gonna be a late one for me, ‘m afraid.”
“Well, we’ll save you a burger or two.”
“Appreciate it, thanks.”
He turned to you and said bye, then left.
Jodie took you under her wing and set you up with a room for the night. You thanked her and lugged your suitcase to your allocated room. After unlocking and setting your case to the side you had a quick rummage through your purse to see if you had any painkillers. Downing two you then laid on the bed and let the heat from the sun lull you into sleep.

Red Room (2)
Pairing: Pornstar!Arthur/Costar!Fem Reader
Summary: Arthur returns a long awaited favor.
Warning: Contains very detailed depictions of smut.
A/N: for my fellow Arthur hoes @pomini-puttana, @arthursbitch, and @verai-marcel :)
Explicit: +18
You arrive at his condominium promptly after, opting to change into something more fit for the occasion. Your Rolex watch on the wrist and body con dress to compliment the crevices of each curve, cinched tightly to accentuate your hips. Arthur guides you past concierge through the text of his phone. he greets you with a welcoming smile. Comfortably dressed in grey sweatpants and white tank top he pivots his broad self—granting you entry. As you walk past, you can feel his eyes analyzing your choice of wear, sucking in his breath quietly as he shuts the door behind him.
His home was unapologetically modern. Brand new television, white Persian rug with a matching sofa set finish, and a vintage record player. The large windows overlooked the city beautifully though unbeknownst, Arthur was an avid fan of the arts. You'd observe as messy piles of old sketches were scattered in one area in particular. Several studies of contemporary artists filled the off-white walls of his living room. You also notice photos of a child next to what presumably is his mother. His soft blonde locks matched Arthur's, he even has his eyes.
"It's, it's my son." He confirms, sheepishly. "Isaac."
You glanced at him as you pondered what to say next. He bears a striking resemblance to his father. Same colored eyes, tan skin complexion, even his locks of hair to the nape of his neck is a painstakingly obvious indicator of Arthur's genetics.
"How old is he?" You inquire, though you shouldn't—curiosity piques its interest as you observe the woman next to the child in the photo. She looks young, around her mid-twenties. Her brown locks of hair pressed neatly for the family photo; a beat of silence ensues.
As if hesitant to respond, you add for him. "Unless you're comfortable of course." Another overbearing silence follows causing guilt to wash over you. Arthur returns to the living room with a few candy bars and gummy bears, placing them on the coffee table as he finds comfort next to you.  "Nah, you're alright. He's about five years old. His momma is very protective of 'im. Spoils that kid she does." He mumbles while grabbing the remote. "So, I don't want to seem like some cheesy bastard but I'm about to put on some Netflix. Any recommendations?"
Giggling on instinct, you nod. "I never pegged you for a Netflix kind of guy." You glance again and you swore that a glint of mischief found him, in that one second. Excitement coursed through your veins at the idea of repeating earlier today. Though he did say he'd be returning the favor, the question would soon come to fruition as to when he'd be able to—perhaps now, or when the movie began to build gradually.
And it did, Arthur didn't miss a beat to play his favorite western film starring Clint Eastwood. "Well, I ain't too fond of Netflix aside from a few shows. I'm never watchin' TV." Just the way he spoke was enough to voluntarily chafe your thighs together. A gentle reminder of what could potentially happen in a matter of minutes. You nod, reclining even further onto the leather sofa. Arthur isn't as naïve as he may let on, he's a man that slowly builds tension. You'd assume he purposely wore grey sweatpants to tempt you into glancing—your resilience is admirable in that regard, you note mentally.
"I agree, cable television sucks." You acknowledge, though regretting you worn a dress that ride up to the thighs. It wasn't helping that your slick essence pooled at the center neither, nor you going commando. Almost sure that Arthur seen you sit abruptly, awaiting his response.
"Sure. Can I ask you a question?" Your heart drops to the center of your stomach before nodding. You glimpse, only to find his emerald-like senses etched to yours. Clearing your throat as you blink.
"Shoot." Your voice squeaks slightly as you slap yourself mentally for losing your composure in front of Arthur. Admittedly, a man of his stature can be quite intimidating, he is a good man—knowingly.
"What made you start—uh, you know, filmin?"
You could tell he tried to go about this question respectfully, and you could admire that. You smile at him before releasing a sigh.
"Nothing too exciting. I felt like life was all about living up to norms, so I figured porn would be a fun way to start." Arthur chuckles, amusingly, admiring your crass language.
"Nothin' too excitin?' you coulda been way off in school than doin' this."
Again, you shrug, indifferent. "I became an adult film star to rebel against my parents. My father drowned his problems in what money could buy—or what women could charge. My mother never complained, on her way to the bank that is." You reply. "I guess you can say my family is, a bit dysfunctional."
Arthur blinks, a bit loss for words. He nods in understanding and presses no longer. He averts his attention back to the film. A bit of guilt does linger in his mind, perhaps had he not pressed on about academics, the current tension wouldn't be so awkward.
One thing Arthur could admit to is his wrongs. The last thing he wants is for you to be upset.
He clears his throat as his eyes stay glued to his high-definition TV. "Listen, I didn't mean to come off as rude. I apologize."  Your brows furrowed before clearing your throat, "Arthur, you've been nothing but good to me."
"Some things are better left bein' unsaid."   He feels it, your soft, dainty fingers make contact with his thigh. The feel of your hand rub dangerously close to his center.
He balls his fists, in hopes he could keep his brazen side at bay; for a little longer at least. The objective was to make you feel good one way Arthur knew how. You felt his body language grow rigid.
He's holding back. This makes your smirk widen as your fingers finds the outline of his "print," shamelessly hardening at the touch. Palming him, he sucks in a breath before exhaling, his eyes glancing at you in a daze.
"You don't want to do that woman." His voice, a few octaves lower. "Not before I make you feel good first."
"Oh?"  upon initial shock, you find yourself straddling him as if he were some saddle. Your hips gently grinding at where you needed him most. "And what does making me feel good compose of?"
At this point your cunt was throbbing with subdued excitement as you grab Arthur's balled fists, now unraveled against yours, before pressing them onto your breasts. You moan his name softly, but powerful enough for him to grunt. "Tell me, Arthur. How are you going to make me cum?"
You figured it was only a matter of time until Arthur's patience wore thin, surprisingly lasting longer than his set time. You find yourself on your back, atop his expensive couch, devouring your neck while his thick fingers fondle with your pussy.
"You wanna know how I'll make you cum?" Arthur sighs, as his hardened cock grazes your leg. "I've always been a man of action, so why don't I gone head an' show you?"
You gasp, releasing a moan as he encircled your clit with his fingers, teasing you as he trailed down from your neck to your breasts slowly—as if memorizing your body's response to him. He notes how you open yourself to him more when he's at a spot you enjoy, subtle eye contact upon foreplay, and his own response to you.
"Shit." You whisper as his tongue finally reaches where you desperately need them to be. Never mind how drenched your cunt was as Arthur removes your thong with his teeth—when his tongue teases at your inner thigh, he looks up at you to assess the damage.
And oh, was there damage. Your teeth bit painfully deep onto your bottom lip in anticipation. Your neck craned forward while your hand was at the back of Arthur's head.
"Please, ple—oh, fuuuuck." You slurred as his tongue works it's magic at your clit, lapping at your essence while keeping eye contact. Your neck falls back into some pillows while your mouth forms silent 'ohs,' gripping at the locks of his hair, grinding your nether lips into his face.
Your grip on his hair tightened with every painfully slow lap of his mouth, your cries of pleasure only grew in volume, "Yes, keep going just like that."
"Just like that?" he teased. "Or maybe a little more?" He hummed at your lips as he slid his finger inside.
You grew rigid as your jaw fell slack, the squelching of your mound only sounding the room. Your walls tightened as Arthur continued his ministrations, his eyes never leaving yours. Time to time he'd hum, mumbling words like "you taste so good," to push you over the edge.
"Oh fuck, yes." Your voice projects. "Arthurrrr."
His body arises, softly adding another finger as his forehead makes contact with yours. You reached nirvana better than any man could make you reach—you questioned if you'd fallen in love with Arthur with what little time you two spent acquainting yourselves with each other. To make matters worst Arthur uses the pad of his thumb, stimulating your clit as his breath hitches—he knows he has you where he wants you.
Eyes fluttering, clenching of teeth, and hips swiveling in pursuit of your release. You were almost to your peak as you let your body let go, your eyes rolling back as you squirt all over his hands. Your voice was embarrassingly loud, perhaps enough to wake neighbors even.
Arthur didn't allow you intervals of recovery before filling you to the hilt. His cock undeniably hard, you gasp in pleasure as he rams his girth. Your cries of erotic sounds could be heard from far and wide.
Beads of sweat accumulate on your co-stars head as he grunts, his face contorting as his blue eyes find yours. Your heart swirls nearly before your fingers nail his back.
"Fuck." You gasp, "fuck me Arthur—you're so fucking good."
He groans approvingly at your crassness, your ability to tune into your primal mind and let yourself come undone. Arthur smirks as his hands find comfort around your neck, squeezing tenderly as he pistons faster—deeper.
"You like it when I play rough huh darlin'?"
Yes. You loved it, you loved every second of this. His onslaught of rough-play atop his demeanor and bulky self. If you could be underneath Arthur in such a compromising position forever—you would.
Suddenly a change in position shifted as you found yourself on top of Arthur’s body. His hands on the side of your hips as you rode his to bliss. His eyes fluttering close as a familiar tightness in his belly arised. His hands smacked your ass roughly as you slapped your hips harder against his pelvis—his cock grazing the g-spot expeditiously.
“Oh my god, ye—hm, I’m close Arthur.”
“Where do you want me?” You blush at his suggestion, but kept your pace nonetheless. He notes your hesitation, moving his hips at the spot your need him most—you see black.
“Oh fuck–inside me. I want you inside me.”
That was enough to tip the older man over the edge as he pumped his seed deeply, your pussy warm with remnants of him as you remove yourself from his now softening cock.
You collapse on top of him as you both take time to recollect your breathing. There’s a comforting silence as you hear the beat of his heart. His arms wrapped around you tightly as he kisses the back of your head softly. “Not bad for a favor returned Mr. Morgan.”
He chuckles softly before rubbing the small of your back, “Who said anything about the night bein’ done? Darlin’ we just star-“
The conversation cut short by the sound of Arthur’s phone. He apologizes swiftly, motioning for you to sit up as you oblige immediately, though followed by a tinge of curiosity.
“Shit,” He reads the caller ID from his cell.
“What?”
He sighs, a smirk playing on his lips, as if he already knows what’s coming. “It’s the receptionist from the front desk.”
He answers reluctantly, placing the call on speaker. He sighs, “Good evening, Ms. Grimmshaw!”
“Mr. Morgan! Could you please keep it down. Again, I have noise complaints from folk your hall. If you’re going to have company for the love of God control your noise levels. Don’t make me have to kick you and that harlot out!”
Before Arthur could get a word in the line clicked dead, earning an amusing stare from you.
Both of you erupting in a fit of laughter.
=
Debating on if I wanna do the final part but FINALLY, after all of that waiting it’s here :);) enjoy

Chapter 1 - Strangers
“How about a twenty, folks?” JJ called for a break after deciding something wasn’t quite right about the scene they were filming. Rey and Kylo’s kiss had to carry the weight of three movies worth of waiting. Everyone involved knew its scale. It couldn’t be half-assed.
“Let’s make it a tight twenty,” Adam clarified.
Daisy sat up first, letting her chest fall over her legs. She inhaled a deep breath as she felt the fatigue of the past week settle into her bones.
Adam reached for her hand and pulled her up to a standing position.
“I wish JJ would give us a little more in terms of what he wants,” he muttered.
Daisy pulled her mouth into a tight smile and replied, “Well you know what he said. He wants us to decide how the moment should go. Says we know best about how our characters would have felt finally getting to this point.”
“And yet he’s obviously not happy with whatever we’re giving him.” Adam’s voice rose, but he relaxed his shoulders and tried to shake it off. “Sorry Dais, you know I’m not frustrated with you.” He offered her a small smile in repentance, his mouth barely angling up, but eyes filled with warmth.
Daisy playfully slapped his chest with her open hand. “Uh-huh. SURE.” She turned to walk away, smiling to herself as she heard him let out a low chuckle.
She walked off to the side, picked up her water bottle and raised it to her lips. She let it absently fill her up as she stared at Adam across the way. She couldn’t believe the warmth that was developing in her stomach again. Her cheeks followed closely behind as the familiar flush returned. She wanted to slap herself.
Leading up to this point, Daisy had thought herself finally over him. Had she and Adam shared intimate moments during their prior years filming together? Of course. Skellig Michael was an especially treasured moment. After all, there had been such a small group of cast and crew present. It had made it easy to pretend this wasn’t some crazy heavy-budget movie that was resting on her shoulders. “Don’t go through the crew like wildfire!” Carrie had warned. And she hadn’t. Adam wasn’t the crew. He was her co-star. And did she know in her logical mind about the infamous co-star syndrome? Of course, she did. She quickly reminded herself of a time back at Tring Park. She had started feeling a deep fondness and attraction to her costar back in Romeo and Juliet. But just as her lines and blocking points had faded from memory with time, so had her attraction.
This thing with Adam, however, had not. And it angered her. Confused her. Made her unsure of whether she could trust herself. Made her question if she had it in her to continue a career as an actress. Would she fall for every costar she ever had? Jeez, wouldn’t that be embarrassing? No one would want to hire a walking lawsuit waiting to happen. A little voice deep inside had always told her that she was a fraud. That she didn't deserve to be in the presence of the great actors that she called friends and coworkers.
“You know… I’ve got this friend who’s working on casting ‘Into the Woods’. I could throw your name her way. I see you as the perfect Milky White.”
Suddenly, Daisy was snapped back to reality by a teasing voice to her right. She raised her eyebrows and side-eyed the man who had been occupying her thoughts.
“What?”
“You know. Because you just finished that water bottle in one swig and cows really love water,” Adam began to explain.
“I thought that was camels?”
“Nope. Cows.” He paused for a brief moment before adding in, “Yeah, definitely cows.”
“You’re an odd one, bestie,” she teased.
“And yet, you’re still here.”
As if I had a choice. Trust me, I’ve been trying to put up my distance, she thought.
Before she had a chance to respond with another snarky response, JJ called an end to their break.
Another deep breath.
“Shall we resume the most frustrating scene ever, then?” she asked Adam.
He shuffled his feet and gazed out to the side, refusing to meet her eyes. “Very true. I honestly didn’t think it would be this hard.”
“Ehhh, it’s all me. You’re perfect as always, Adam.” She blushed and ran off, chiding herself for acting like a stupid school girl.
Despite her embarrassment, the break must have helped. Only a few takes later, Daisy found herself in the most comfortable staring contest with Adam. It was a moment that she wished she could have frozen forever.
Except that she shouldn’t have been thinking of Adam. She should have been thinking of Ben.
At the realization that she was letting her personal feelings bleed into her acting, she wrinkled her nose in frustration. “DAMN IT," she shouted. "I’m so sorry everyone! This next one is it, I swear.”
Adam reached over and placed his hand over hers. He gave her a small smile and she quietly cursed her heart. Its increasing pace threatened to give her secret away. “It’s okay," he said. "I feel it too. We’re almost there.”
Both of them were right, and JJ declared the last take as “THE ONE”. The room erupted with whooping and hollering. Everyone began circulating with hugs, thank-yous, and high fives. Daisy second-guessed going over to Adam, but knew it would be even more telling to avoid him.
When she reached him, she did her best to give a small hug. Adam, however, wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her in tighter.
“Well, it’s been great,” she started. “Thank you so much. It’s truly been an honor to work with you, Adam.” Her eyes started to well, knowing things between them would never be the same again. Hell, they hadn’t been this whole time.
“Hey, look, I’m sorry.” Adam’s words were barely louder than a whisper.
“For what?”
“You know. For everything. For making things weird between us. I, I never should have -"
“Never should have what?” she challenged. Should have let me fall in love with you? Treated me like I was yours? Let me believe we could ever be more than this great act of pretend? Those last thoughts rattled at the gate of her mouth, but remained hers to keep.
He glanced down, unable to handle her gaze that begged him for words he couldn’t say out loud.
“I honestly don’t know what you’re talking about Adam. It’s been nothing but the best professional experience.”
He winced, and for a moment, Daisy almost felt guilty. But the anger and pain returned swiftly. She felt all too happy to have made him feel what she imagined to be only a small fraction of her own torment.
“To our amazing leads!” someone toasted a few feet over. “I’ve worked on a lot of movies, and it’s rare we get two incredible actors like you both. You made me believe I was watching a true relationship unfold, not just two really well-acted characters. To Daisy and Adam! To making us believe in the unreal.”
Everyone cheered in agreement around them and Daisy felt her heart rise up to her throat.
Exactly Dais. The unreal.
Suddenly, it was all too much to handle and Daisy could no longer stand to be around anyone. She gave them all a quick glance, muttered thanks and ran off. Once she returned to her dressing room, she turned her speakers back on. She started laughing through runny tears at the irony of Sigrid’s lyrics that filled the space.
When the curtain drops
Our touch is just a touch
Not like in the movies
Our story’s after the end
Like strangers
Perfect pretenders
We’re falling head over heels
For something that ain’t real
It could never be us, eh
Just you and I
Chapter 2 - Mine Right Now
Two Years Earlier
“Amazing work, both of you! Now go do something fun. Relaxing. Happy. Today’s scene was so emotionally taxing. I couldn’t bear to be responsible for any dark spiraling that follows today.”
“Oh, it's really alright. I take full responsibility for my own dark spiraling, Rian,” Adam joked.
“Well true as that may be, I am serious. You've both earned a night of not thinking about work. I'll see you tomorrow.”
Rian gave them both a quick hug before leaving them to finish gathering their things.
Daisy cleared her throat before she could back out. “So, what do you say, Driver? How about a little drinky poo?” She wiggled her eyebrows at her co-star suggestively before bursting into laughter.
“Sure. As long as you promise not to judge me for ordering a cocktail.”
Praying that her face wasn’t showing her utter shock, she continued to push her luck. “You’re kidding! You never go out! With the crew. With me. Mysterious Adam Driver slums it with Daisy Ridley? What would the missus think?!”
“Dais…” She watched as he ran his hands through his hair, certain that she had crossed a line.
“Sorry. So sorry. Uncalled for.”
“I just don't like to talk about Joa-, my wife a lot.”
Of course, he didn't. Not with coworkers at least. She was kidding herself to think they were anything more than that. Trying to salvage the situation, she asked, “Too late to throw in my white flag?”
He stared at her longer than he ever had outside of filming. “Not at all. But let's head out before it gets too late. I've got an early training session tomorrow.”
Relieved that she hadn't completely blown it, she felt her heartbeat pick back up. This was really about to happen. She was going to be alone with Adam and, by orders from the boss man himself - prohibited from talking about work. “Right, of course. I'll meet you outside in five?”
He gave her a small nod before turning to leave her to her things.
Her bag was already packed, but she used the next five minutes to compose herself. Tonight would be uncharted territory. Her relationship with Adam had grown into a fond friendship over the last two years. And so had her attraction to him. She rationalized it to herself as the intimacy of a truly trusting professional relationship. After all, they had to trust each other with abandon to pull off the demands of stunts and emotional scene work. Still, somewhere deep down she knew that for her, this was more than just trusting a coworker or friend. On the other hand, she could happily say that she wasn't the only one guilty of flirting now and again.
When she met him outside, he led her to his car. She was tired beyond her wits and grateful to have him drive.
“Where to?” He asked. “The Bridge Bar?”
“No. That's where the crew always goes.”
“Don't wanna be seen with the big bad villain, huh?”
“Yes. I mean, no!” Words escaped her as she tried to explain herself. “All I mean is that...I agree with Rian. Today was a lot. And I'd rather not have to socialize with anyone at the moment.”
“Oh. I can drive you back to the hotel, then. I just thought...since you had asked...that -”
“I'm trying to say I just want to be alone with you!” she blurted.
“Oh.” Her frustration built at Adam's sudden lack of articulation and her blatant confession.
“God. That sounded creepy as hell. Please, can we forget I ever opened my mouth? Just take me to get a drink somewhere, Adam. Anywhere but the Bridge Bar. Please.”
His eyes met hers for only a moment before he drove off with a quick nod.
The drive couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes. Yet somehow, it was both the longest and shortest stretch of time. Adam, apparently still shell shocked by his pushy costar, hadn't said anything to her. Well, except to point out a few key places of local history. Fear brewed in her stomach as she resigned herself to the fact that he would probably call his agent after this. He would make his agent promise that he'd never have to work with someone as unprofessional as her again.
The silence was good for one thing, though. She figured her career and their relationship, working or otherwise, were both soon to be over. So she used the time to check him out free of shame. She focused first on his hands. The way his fingers tapped like a pianist against the steering wheel at every stop. It made her wonder how they would feel tapping against her skin. His legs were still too large for the space, despite his seat being pulled back to the furthest setting. In fact, if she were to straddle him right now, she'd likely slide right down his thighs. It'd bring her right where she wanted to be, pressed up against his hardness. She pictured the intimacy of that position, how his face would be easily within her reach. How she could run her hands into his hair and bite down into his full lips. She'd be able to watch him lift an eyebrow at her, just like he was doing now.
Oh shit, like he was doing now. He had definitely caught her fantasizing about him.
He looked thoroughly amused. “Everything alright?”
“Course.” She refused to accept defeat and wrinkled her nose in defense. “Now stop staring at me like... THAT and let's go!”
An hour later, she was on her third pint and Adam was still nursing his first cocktail. She looked from his face to his glass and back.
“You make me feel like an alchy!”
He let a low chuckle. “I told you, I've got training early tomorrow. If I go any heavier than this, I'm going to regret it. Just trying to be responsible.”
“How about this right now? Coming out with me. Is it part of your plan to be responsible?” Oh...so aggressively-honest, drunk Daisy was here to play.
A small shake of his head. “ Honestly? Still haven't decided.”
“Is that why you never hang out with me?”
“No. You've just never invited me before.”
“That's not true!”
“In groups, yes... But you know me. I don't do…people. Large groups, anyways,” Adam shrugged.
“Does that mean if I had asked you and it was only us, you would've said yes?”
He chuckled nervously. “Well, I'm here tonight, aren't I?”
She poked him in the shoulder and elicited a small OWW. “I'm honestly quite mad now. That's critical intel you've been keeping from me. We could've been besties by now!” she whined.
“Besties, huh?”
“Yes, that's right.”
“Ok. Then we’re besties. Anything you want.”
Before she could catch it, the small suggestion escaped in a rasp she didn’t know she had. “Anything?”
He gulped and met her eyes. Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe it was just her giving in to years of repressed wants. She slowly got up from the table, still holding his gaze. She turned and started toward the back of the bar. The jury was still out on whether it was to leave the burn of his stare or to initiate something incredibly risky.
There wasn’t enough time to consider her motives when she felt her body go on high alert. The darkness of the hallway intensified all her other senses. She knew it was him even before his hand slid across her back to grip her waist. It was the way he walked so gently to avoid disturbing a space. The way he took slow calculated steps in consideration of everyone smaller than him.
Instead of turning her toward him, he closed their gap and brought his mouth down against her ear. She braced herself for the warmth of his lips but shivered as he spoke. “I’m a simple guy, Daisy. I don’t do games. I told you that you can have anything you want. And right now, I want to kiss you. Is that what you want?”
She turned around and tilted her head back to accommodate for how much bigger he was than her. The urge to wrap her hands around his neck was almost magnetic, but she fought it. It was possible that she might not survive the electricity of feeling his skin under her fingers. His hands slid down to hold her by her hips, apparently just as stubborn as she was to avoid making the first move. Hurried breaths reached her ears but she didn’t know which of them it was coming from.
She felt him studying her face and instinctively bit down on her lower lip. He seemed to acknowledge this movement as an agreement. Before she could brace herself, he said “Fuck it” and crashed against her mouth.
As soon as he felt her melt into the kiss, there was nothing tender about his attack. Her fingers laced into his hair, urging his tongue to press harder against hers. Adam lifted her up and slammed her back against the wall. At this angle, there was no doubt that he wanted this as badly as she did. She rolled her hips against his and the groan that escaped his mouth filled every hollow of her body.
It was more than she could have ever imagined. Tongues fought for dominance as they battled to memorize every curve and point of each other’s mouth. But it wasn’t enough. Now that she knew this need wasn’t one-sided, she was greedy and was going to take what she wanted.
“Bathroom,” she muttered against his lips. He understood immediately and walked them into the first door. Her bottom still sat against his forearms and legs wrapped around his waist. Once they entered, the lock of the door signaled more danger. The heat at her core grew.
She whimpered as he set her down, lamenting the loss of his body weight against hers. Her annoyance didn’t last long, though, as he flattened his palm between her legs.
“Let me make you feel good.”
“Already there,” she huffed out.
“Trust me, Dais.” He smothered her with another cardiac arrest-inducing kiss. “This is only the surface of how good you and I can feel together.”
With that, he invaded her leggings as his middle finger ran up and down her wetness.
“Oh god. Adam, I-I. Please don’t stop.”
He continued his slow teasing as she watched him swallow. “I told you. Anything you want. But not even the apocalypse could stop me from stroking you right now.”
She laughed at him. “Only you could make me feel this turned on and ready to burst with laughter at the same time.”
“Only actively trying at one of those right now,” he grunted. “But happy to help.”
Her smile quickly faded as her chin dropped and a moan broke free.
His finger ran its way up to her clit before sliding back down to push into her entrance.
He absorbed her moan with his mouth and flicked his tongue against hers. She imagined him repeating the motion where his finger was now working. She clenched but soon released. As close as she was to the edge, she wasn’t willing to let him off this easily.
She rubbed her hand against the hardness threatening to break the fly of his pants. He closed his eyes and let out a small whimper. She slowly pulled back, reaching to bring her leggings down to her knees. She turned to bend over against the sink.
“Please, I need to feel you inside me.”
She watched as Adam moved toward her slowly, each second that she waited for him feeling like torture. His hand found her entrance again, now sliding in two fingers. He pumped into her slower this time, leaning over her smaller frame.
“You’ve got to be crazy if you think I’m gonna fuck you here in this bathroom. I’ve thought about this for too long to end it with a quickie. Let’s go back to the hotel.”
She worked her hips against his hand for a bit longer before accepting defeat. Immediately, part of her worried that he was using this as an excuse to break off whatever this was. But another part considered what could happen within the walls of a hotel room.
The drive back felt like punishment. The only thing that stopped her from worrying was the fact that she felt the buzz of his need for her in the air. Every glance he threw her way was full of hunger. She thanked all her lucky stars that he had only had one drink. Having to walk back to the hotel would’ve taken even longer and would’ve surely put a stop to this.
Once they got to the hotel, they navigated the lobby and hallway with caution. They both knew to keep their distance. Without discussion, she led him to her room, making out with him as soon as his tall frame was through the threshold.
Hands on his belt, she inched backward toward her bed. Suddenly, she felt Adam pull back.
His hands ran through his hair, a sure tell of his discomfort.
“We shouldn't be doing this. I've been so good at trying to keep things professional between us. From the very first table read, I saw you and knew I had to be careful. It helped to remind myself that this was your first big film. But this second film has been different. So much more comfortable. Like we’ve known each other forever. I find myself constantly wanting to be around you. Telling myself that you’ve got no reason outside of work to spend time with me is a daily routine. But then you invited me out and I got high on the thought that someone like you might want me, too. But I let it get too far. This was a mistake. I should go.”
She couldn’t believe the audacity he had to tell her those things. Her face flushed, no longer from being turned on, but instead from anger.
“Well fuck you, Adam. You're a FUCKING COWARD!”
He matched the disgust in her voice. “I'm fucking married, Daisy.”
“Oh, I'm well aware. Every day that I pretend it's only my character that's pulled toward you? I remind myself you're married. On the days we don't work together and I sit wishing you were there with me? I remind myself you're married. It might as well be tattooed on my bloody tongue considering how many times I have to tell myself. So don't pretend you're doing me a favor by telling me something that does absolutely nothing to stop me from wanting you !”
She panted with exasperation.
“It should.”
“Well, it doesn't. I’m not asking for forever, Adam. I’m just asking you to be mine right now. I know how this plays out. I always have. And spoiler alert, in no version of our story does it end with you and I walking hand in hand through a hardware store, picking out wallpaper for our future child's room. It does, however, always end with me in England and you going back to HER,” she spat out. “So either hand me that bottle of tequila so I can forget this ever happened or be a man and finish what you fucking started. ”
The hunger was back in his eyes as they dared each other to blink first.
“I'm going to hell for this,” he said through gritted teeth, taking a step toward her.
“I'll see you there,” she smirked.
Clothes flew off in a race as they stumbled onto the bed. She laid back and gasped when she saw how big he was.
Adam worked to cover her entire body with kisses that she was convinced would leave marks. “I have to tell you something.”
“What’s that?” he asked absently, lightly grazing her nipple with his teeth.
She struggled to focus, her desire battling with any coherent thoughts.
“I have a, a condition” she breathed out between moans.
“Ok,” he acknowledged, moving on to treat her second nipple to the same attention.
“It-it makes it painful for me to take anything...anyone...too...OH MY GOD. Too deep.” He blew against her nipple as she tried to finish. “And... I think ...you would get very deep.”
A smirk stretched across his face. “Then you let me know if it’s too much.” His fingers found her folds again, dripping with her need to feel him. “How should I take you?”
“Any way you want,” she breathed out. “I’ll let you know if I can’t handle it.”
Adam began to look around and she realized what he was looking for.
“Oh. And I, uh, have an IUD because of the condition. It’s actually easier for me to take you if you don’t wear a condom.”
He growled, then grabbed his length in his hand and began rubbing himself against her opening. She could feel her need coating him. She lifted her hips and he accepted her offer with a slow thrust into her center. He filled her like no one had before, except maybe a toy her sister had gifted her as a gag gift.
“Daisy…” he moaned, his solid biceps holding himself up to keep from penetrating her too deeply.
He stayed there just like that for a while, wrapped by her and taking short breaths. Knowing that he was probably nervous to hurt her sent a pang to her heart.
“I. You. You feel so good. You can give me more,” she pleaded. “Not deeper, just, it feels so good when you slide in me.”
Still balancing his weight over her body, he began to fuck into her faster. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rubbed my cock wishing it were you around me,” he said.
She squeezed in response. He responded by pulling out and sliding back in agonizingly slow.
Her patience had left her from the moment he touched her in the bar hallway. She began to move her hips in a figure-eight motion, urging him to leave his mark in every part of her. He took her hint and picked up his tempo, being happily rewarded with her repetitive moaning of his name.
Adam stared at her, his gaze unwavering. He had a unique way of making her feel nothing and everything all at once. It was a feeling she could get used to, even feel possessive over. And with that thought, she cursed herself for confusing this for something more. She zoned back into reality and pushed against his shoulder while using her hips to flip him over. He groaned in delight at the position change and she ground into his hardness. Anxious to rid the moment of any sentiment, she began bouncing up and down along his length. He ran his hand up her thigh and over her hip. He continued to move inward until his thumb found her clit, palm still resting flat against her stomach. God, the size of this man was enough to make her come.
Feeling her pick up speed, he urged her on. “Come for me, Daisy. Let yourself go on this hard cock. You love how hard I am for you, don’t you?” He continued rubbing soft circles into her clit. Matched with his words, it was enough for her to cry out his name.
She unraveled onto his chest just as she felt him grunt and fill her. Waves of satisfaction continued to pass as they laid together. He cradled her against him as they waited for their breaths to slow.
He slowly lifted her off of him and turned her to face him. He kissed her softly and lay his head back against the pillow. His eyes seemed to search hers for answers on how to handle this transition back into reality. Not having a clue, she chose the easy way out and turned her back to him to lay on her side. Adam took it as an invitation for another level of intimacy. Her whole body tensed and released as she felt him lay tiny kisses behind her ear. He worked downwards, finally settling his chin into the crook of her neck. He reached for her hand and laced their fingers together.
She sighed, knowing what she needed to do. “3, 2, 1. Okay. Here goes. I’m about to do the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
“No, you just finished doing the hardest thing you’ve ever done in your life like...two minutes ago.”
“Wow. What a terribly awful innuendo that was.”
“But not untrue?” he teased.
“I’m serious. Adam, as much as it pains me to say this. I think you should go. This was truly...unbelievable. Like, really, really, good. But like I said, I don't expect anything else from this. From you. But if you stay the night...I just might get confused.”
“No.”
“No? Not really up for debate. Go.” She used all her strength to push the giant out of her bed.
He stood but didn’t make any movement to get ready. “I won’t.”
She threw on her sternest face and blinked slowly. “I’m saying you have to.”
Undeterred by her insistence, he stroked her cheek with his thumb and settled it against her lips. “Shh, you’re mine right now.”
That was enough to make her give up her fight and pull his face down to hers. They resumed their earlier position as he turned her onto her side. His body spooned hers protectively and he planted a gentle kiss against her shoulder. It seemed to be his new favorite spot. Her stomach dropped and filled with fear and guilt. She closed her eyes and hoped that sleep would come soon - knowing it was too late to avoid the crash and burn.
Chapter 3 - Don’t Feel Like Crying
Daisy’s alarm went off on her phone as she dragged the starched hotel pillow over her head.
“Shut up, you!”
She fumbled to find the source of her disturbance and squeezed until the ringing stopped. It was still dark out and she didn’t know who she had pissed off to be called in at such a god-awful hour.
She was being dramatic.
In actuality, she knew she hadn’t angered anyone. Strange hours were a well-known consequence of her chosen profession. But she also knew her internal body clock wasn't wired for this.
Over the past month, Daisy hadn’t spent more than three nights in a single bed. As she glanced in the mirror, she could see it was beginning to take a toll on her. She adored the world of professional acting - but, the press and promos? Not so much. I’ll be looking 40 before I even turn 30, she thought, reaching for her eye cream.
She moved like a zombie through her hotel room, choosing vegan snacks and a tea tumbler in place of brains. Today was going to be another long stretch, but in a few more days, it would all be over.
Over. What a strange concept that was. She allowed herself to think back to the very first press tour for The Force Awakens. It was all so new and exciting back then. It had been nerve-wracking of course, but there was also something so special about that time. Her heart twinged as she remembered that year with fondness. In spite of the whirlwind of interviews, red carpets, and photoshoots, she had formed new bonds. It was a time of getting to know her castmates, crew members, hair and makeup artists.
And him, her ugly conscience reminded her.
Right. Him.
He had slightly more experience than her when it came to the press, but that didn’t make him hate it any less. Like her, he had never done anything on so large a scale. The pressure to be someone that both kids and adults could relate to was a different kind of terrifying. Naturally, they had latched onto one another. Her delightful inexperience with the industry offset his social unease and aloof tendencies. They would find ways to make each other laugh after answering the same question for the tenth time that day. Late nights were spent walking through foreign cities in disguises. Forced together by a job, they had become close friends.
And then there was the filming of The Last Jedi. Friends soon grew into something more. There was a closeness between them, the kind one would find between childhood mates. A sense of protection and duty to the other. Yet, too fused with desire to call it platonic. There was no proper label for what they were. Not when there was a stifling awareness of their complex situation. After that first night together, they had spent a few more weeks in a bubble of their own. It wasn’t all smiles, but it was all theirs.
Still, she wasn’t wrong when she had told him, “In no version of our story does it end with you and I…”
They had both seen the ending from the start. He had tried to pull away before it even began. She had tried to protect her heart by keeping it fun. In the end, none of that did anything to lessen the pain.
“Daisy,” he whispered over the phone. She could tell he had been drinking. The sun was beginning to wake London which meant it was the middle of the night in New York.
“Joanne’s pregnant,” he forced out.
Any other time, she would have made a smartass comment about his voice cracking. But now, no words rose.
She heard him take a few more breaths as if he was going to say more. When she continued to sit there in silence, he began again.
“I know we were supposed to meet up but –“
It was too much. Daisy hung up the call and threw her phone onto the mattress, watching it bounce onto the floor. Her body shook violently as tears spilled out. A buzz against the hardwood signaled another incoming call. She didn’t need to look to see who it was.
“FUCKING HELL!” she screamed into the empty apartment. Unintelligible cries came out in waves, sounding more hoarse and strained as they went on.
Minutes, then hours passed until she finally went numb.
“Excuse me, miss? Are you alright?” Somehow, Daisy had made it from her hotel room into the elevator, whose doors now opened to the lobby. She wondered how long she had been stuck here in her memories.
“Oh, yes. I’m so sorry to hold you up.”
She left the elevator and threw on a smile. This is your dream, Daisy. Remember? The wound is where the light enters. The wound is where the light enters.
The day had been a blur of photoshoots, interviews, and trials for tomorrow’s premiere look. In theory, she should’ve been very tired by now. Yet, she lay on top of her covers nursing nervous energy. What did she have to be nervous about?
Besides everyone hating the movie that you’re at the center of? she thought.
It seemed her old friend, anxiety, was right on schedule.
She considered heading to the gym. Maybe she could work off the negative energy. But this was Los Angeles, not London. She was sure to be mobbed, disguise or not. Her phone vibrated on the side table and she reluctantly stole a glance.
Joanne will be with me tomorrow at the premiere. Looking forward to seeing you. - A
The nausea and shortness of breath that followed confirmed a fear. She was, in fact, nervous about more than just the reception of the film.
---
“Come, everyone! I need more selfies to remember you all by!”
It was a fact that no one could ever deny Joonas his selfies. There were kind people in the world, good people, even - and then there was Joonas. Daisy paused mid-conversation with John to squeeze in for the photo. Adam turned around from his discussion as well and offered her a small smile. Her stomach felt like it was filling with helium until she shook her head and body into submission. She responded with a small “hello” before turning her gaze to Joonas’ phone.
Joonas studied the photo with pleasure and brought his friends in for a quick hug. He asked them what they had been up to since they last saw one another. Their answers went unheard when his manager came to steal him away. John's agent soon followed and he checked in with Daisy with his eyes. "I'll see you in a bit, Peanut?" She feigned contentment and gave a small nod.
The unease washed over her again when Daisy was finally alone with Adam.
He cleared his throat. “You look beautiful, Dais.”
“That’s very kind, thank you. You look quite handsome as well.”
Pleasantries continued and she hardly recognized the words she was hearing. She and Adam despised small talk. This wasn't them. But then again, "them" was a long-forgotten memory.
At the realization, Daisy sighed and dropped her guard. Her eyes darkened. “Why did you text me, Adam?”
“Oh. I wasn't sure if you had received it.”
“Why,” she repeated, losing her patience.
“I don’t know. I thought you should know. That you might...want to know?” He was starting to gesture his hands wildly and she knew she had caught him off guard. “I...after the way we left off at the end of filming...I thought you might want to...prepare yourself? But that was presumptuous of me, I’m sorry. You’re clearly okay. Very okay. ”
When she didn’t respond, Adam scratched the back of his neck. “So uh, I got a chance to see bits of interviews you’ve done. You didn’t have to say all those nice things, you know. Especially after everything that happened.”
“Why not? There’s no point in lying. Also, it’s strange,” she paused. “Cause you see, whenever I’m in an interview and someone asks me something, and I go oh! There was that one time that Adam and I - And at first I would think, God, you can’t share that, Dais! You’ll look like a lovesick puppy. All the headlines will read, Daisy Ridley, a Fool for Her Co-star? But then I decided that I didn't care. That as long as I had all these memories, really fun and dear ones - it meant that it was real.”
“Of course it was real.”
She led him into a smaller hallway. This conversation was never part of the plan, but she knew that any news of it could hurt both her and Adam in a way that would be unsalvageable.
“How can you be so sure? You’re the one who walked away.”
“That’s not fair. You never gave me a chance to figure it out.”
“Bloody hell, Adam. There was nothing to figure out. When you called me to tell me you were going to be a father, you’d already made your choice. You only called because, in some sick, twisted way, you were hoping for my permission. You needed me to tell you it was okay.”
“No, I needed you to know how complicated it was.”
She took a deep breath and turned to face the wall. “The wound is where the light enters. The wound is where the light enters,” she whispered.
"What was that?"
She turned back, ignoring him and taking in his contorted expression. She straightened her spine and began. “I promised myself I was past this. So yes. It WAS complicated. But now - it’s not. There has to be something there for things to be complicated.”
“It’s still complicated for me,” he bit out.
“Please...just stop. Look, you were right. Just like always, you’re right. Between seeing you here and being sent everywhere to perform a dog and pony show, I’m not okay. Not even close. But being out here doing all this right now? The promotion and press - it's somehow the only thing helping me keep it together. As long as I’m busy, I don’t feel like crying."
He continued to stare at her but didn't venture a response. It seemed he no longer wished to argue, just listen.
She went on. "Don’t get me wrong. I understand how stupid I sound, whining about all of it. I understand the immense luck I’ve had that I get to do this for a living. You taught me that. But...I think I just need to be home for a bit. Need to lock myself up for a while. Sure, I’ll keep grinding it out and praying that someone sees me beyond this...circus. Get employed and all. But I just need a break.”
His eyes hadn’t left hers, so she broke the contact and spoke at her hands which she'd been wringing unknowingly.
“So please, let me go out there and do the old song and dance. Hug my friends, say goodbye to the role. Then I’ll go home to London and we'll never have to see each other again.”
“You can’t know that," his voice emerged, shaken by the finality of her statement.
She smiled gently and raised her eyes once more. “But I do. Everyone does. You and I no longer run in the same circles. You are...a force of nature, Adam. Like the ocean. You're reckless. Dangerous. But so damn beautiful to watch. Leaving a mark on everything you touch simply by being yourself. Me though, I'm just a rock that got swept up in your tide. Inevitably and forever changed by you, but unable to leave any impressions in return.”
She felt the heat forming behind her eyes and turned to leave before small droplets betrayed her. He grabbed for her hand but she pulled away in time. "Don't go," he whispered.
She turned with a final glance. "Thank you for everything, Adam. I don't regret a thing. But you don't get to decide things for me anymore."
Chapter 4 - Home to You
The sea air assaulted all her senses and she closed her eyes to let it wash over her. For the first time in months, she felt like she could breathe without struggle. Sure, the air was humid and rain was guaranteed to be waiting in the wings. But, it was freeing to be outside with absolutely no agenda.
She laughed.
That wasn't entirely true. She did have an agenda. But it was one all her own. This visit was all about leaving the bubble that her life has become, even if just for a few moments. It was about moving on. About liking herself again.
She had planned this trip a couple of months ago. She would have forgotten about it had her sisters not reminded her.
“Hush your beak, Dais,” Kika said. “You’re being absolutely ridiculous.”
“Am I?"
“Completely. You're not going to die a miserable, lonely, spinster.”
“I didn't say miserable and lonely!” She glared at her flesh and blood.
“Both of you. That's enough,” Poppy chimed in. “But Daisy, I do agree. Just because it sucks right now doesn't mean you're out of luck for the rest of your life. You made the right choice.”
“Breaking off an engagement. I'm the quintessential dumb millennial,” Daisy groaned.
“No, dumb would've been ignoring your true feelings. Your energy deserves to exist unbound. So do you.”
“But I don't feeeeeel unbound. I feel like some sort of gross hairball just stuck there waiting to be coughed out whenever the cat deems ready.”
Kika snorted and Poppy soon followed. Both her sisters unraveled into fits of giggles. After throwing a pillow at Kika's head, Daisy joined in.
The night had gone much like this. Tears, giggles, refill wine glasses. Repeat.
Daisy caught her breath from the laugh attack and sighed. “So what do I do now? Shut everyone out and vanish to a secluded place to find myself? ‘Eat Pray Love’ this out?”
“That's not a terrible idea,” said Poppy.
“I was only kidding. Mine isn't exactly a life you just walk out on without heavy speculation. Not even Joaquin Phoenix quit acting successfully.”
“Always the drama queen, Dais,” Kika muttered with a roll of her eyes. “But maybe it wouldn't hurt to take a vacation. Just a small one. Go. Grab your laptop. Let's find you someplace nice.”
Where to go? Where to go? she thought to herself. Her sisters chimed in with suggestions but she insisted on making the choice herself.
In a fog of restlessness, hurt, and nostalgia, she clicked away to her heart’s content. Thirty minutes later, she shut the lid. “Done,” she smiled, feeling victorious.
After reading the confirmation email the next morning, she considered canceling it. Choosing to travel there was a bad idea. Her finger hovered over the button as she thought about it more. There was a possibility that this could be the closure she needed to begin the next chapter of her life.
“Good morning!” a man called out. Daisy snapped out of her daydream and greeted the man she assumed was her driver.
“We're heading to Dingle, correct?”
An inhale. Then an exhale. It's too late to back out now, she told herself. “Yes. Thank you so much,” she answered with a smile.
---
A week and a half had passed since she had arrived in Ireland. She sat with her morning tea and sipped it, taking in how at peace she felt. She felt like the old Daisy, again. Or maybe a new one. It was hard to tell. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt so present in a moment.
Her stay hadn’t been all magical. The prior week was a different picture in all respects. Like torrential rains, Daisy was never at balance. One second, she felt euphoria from being in one of her favorite places. The next, only bittersweet flashbacks of memories to a time spent with someone who wasn't hers.
Phone in hand, she stared at the photo of the cliffside she had snapped on her drive the day before. It was nondescript enough - and she wasn't in it. But he would know where it was.
She only had a few days left before going home and she had been toying with the idea of reaching out to him for closure. During a sob-filled emergency phone session, her therapist had assured her it wasn’t necessary. But Daisy wanted to. Was determined to. Where better than from here, the place they had first fallen into this mess? She wanted to rewrite the narrative and make new memories in this place. She wanted to return home without burden.
Saw this view and couldn't help thinking of you. She deleted the words and tried again. While it was true, she had to establish boundaries. She didn't want him to think she was opening up the door to anything unhealthy. This was about making peace with the past and trying to relearn a friendship with him.
Recognize this? she typed. “That seems harmless enough,” she told herself.
“1, 2, 3, SEND!” Her finger froze. She got up and walked onto the balcony. She hoped some fresh air would give her the nerve. She repeated the countdown again. “You’ve got this, Dais!”
She couldn’t do it. She jumped up and down, shaking her limbs to pump herself up.
“OH SHIT,” she exclaimed as her phone slipped from her fingers. She caught it with a pincer grasp and made a mental note to thank her trainer for her quick reflexes. She kissed her phone in relief.
Then she saw it.
Her clumsiness had done it for her. She had sent the text.
“Well. That’s that, then.” Daisy tucked her phone back into her pocket knowing there was nothing she could do now.
After dinner, she drew herself a bath and poured a glass of wine. Her phone buzzed. She had forgotten to turn off the ringer.
“AGH. Who’s bothering me?” She reached to turn it off but stopped when she saw the notification. Adam had responded. Throughout the course of the day, she had forgotten about her text to him. Or her subconscious was working overtime to protect her if he didn’t text back.
How could I forget? I embarrassed myself soon after with shitty poetry recitation.
Though alone, she blushed. She had taken the photo because the view was breathtaking and so uniquely Dingle. She hadn’t sent it with the intention of reliving that afternoon. But now she couldn’t think of anything but. And the fact that Adam had brought it up sent a pulse straight to her core.
She closed her eyes and slid her hand downward. What started out that day years ago as an innocent request evolved at high speed.
They sat in the rental car staring out at Dunquin Harbor. He had just returned from Cannes to promote Paterson.
“What was filming that like? Quite different than this, I gather?”
“Yeah. I mean, yeah. Different type of film. Very little dialogue -”
“Wait, so actually very similar!”
Adam chuckled. “Paterson was very much a listener and a man of few words. Verbally, at least. His poetry is where the audience learns who he is.”
“Right! Tell me more about poetry!”
He rolled his lips inward. “Uh, what about it? I didn’t really know much going in, but meeting Ron Padgett, the poet who wrote the original poetry in the film was great. And Jim Jarmusch actually studied it in college. So yeah, definitely new for me.”
“So you spent some time studying some of this Ron guy’s work before you went into filming?”
“Among others. But, yes. It was helpful.”
“Can I hear some of it?”
“Yeah...let’s not,” he shied away.
She pulled out her phone and typed in “Ron Padgett poems” as he tried to change the subject. He called attention back to the landscape in front of them. She clicked through on a link and extended her phone to him.
“Here. Read it to me.”
He pulled a face.
“Please? It’s like a table read. But just for me.” She smiled and his mouth mirrored hers.
He squeezed her forearm affectionately before agreeing. “Only a little.”
“I’ll take whatever you want to give me,” she smirked, feeling quite pleased with herself.
“How to Be Perfect. By Ron Padgett."
“Get some sleep.” His thumb began stroking her forearm.
“Don't give advice.” He grazed his fingertips up her arm to draw circles around her shoulder.
“Take care of your teeth." A small kiss to the corner of her mouth.
“And gums.” Another to the opposite corner.
“Don't be afraid of anything,” his mouth met her temple.
“Beyond your control.”
“Don't be afraid.” A gentle stroke of her hair.
“For instance,”
“That the building,” he traced the line of her clavicle.
“Will collapse.” His fingers teased the sensitive skin of her neck.
“As you sleep.” A kiss to the shell of her ear.
“Or that someone - ” A quick bite of her lobe.
“You love,” he kissed her mouth tenderly.
“Will suddenly drop dead.” A small smile pulled at his mouth.
He took his hand and ran it down her body, stopping where her legs met.
“Eat an orange every morning.” He lifted her dress.
“Be friendly.” He teased her now with his index and middle finger in a V, rubbing soft strokes against the outer edge of her desire.
“It will help make you happy.” He brushed his hand across her clit and her breath caught in her throat.
“Raise your pulse rate.” Another brush.
“To 120 beats per minute.” Then pressure.
“For 20 straight minutes.” He rubbed up and down slowly.
“Four or five times a week - ” She raised her hips to grind against him faster. He laughed and removed his hand.
“Doing anything - ” She whined.
“You enjoy.” He returned his hand.
“Hope,” a finger pushed into her.
“for everything.” A deeper exploration of her.
“Expect nothing.” He withdrew himself.
He dropped the phone and took her face in his hands. He took her mouth like a man drinking his last sip of water before heading out into the scorching desert. His hand slid back down her torso, reading her need for release.
She put her phone down and let her own fingers roam downwards. She sighed as she softly teased herself, trying to mimic the light touches he had used. Ok, so closure may be harder than anticipated , she thought. Resigning to try again tomorrow, she put the phone down to focus on her pleasure. A reply could wait until then.
---
When she gathered the courage to respond to him the next day, she was filled with relief. Their exchange was easy and amicable. The familiarity comforted her like a childhood blanket.
She continued to update him about her trip. He laughed at the right moments and chided her the way any good friend would.
I don’t want to leave 😢, she typed to him.
Where are you headed next?
Home. I fly into Heathrow tomorrow. I’m not ready to be a proper adult again.
Ehh, I don’t think there’s such a thing. We’re all just faking it.
Thanks, friend. Any suggestions for my last night here in good ol Dingle?
A huge bacon cheeseburger.
You suck.
She laughed at his teasing. This was good. A healthy good. She wasn't even upset that she had to pack the mess that had accumulated over her stay.
---
Daisy walked off the plane and blinked in succession. There was Adam, attempting to look inconspicuous in a hoodie and sneakers.
“Oh. Hey, Adam. Are you...stalking me?”
“Kind of. I asked Kika for your flight information.”
Her phone started ringing. “Oh. This is awkward, but I've got a driver waiting to pick me up. It’s really nice to see you? But I have to go.”
He laughed nervously. “I...was kind of hoping you would let me go with you. I've got no other way of getting back.”
“Uh. Sure. Why not?”
---
An hour later, she thanked the driver and headed up to her apartment. Adam trailed behind with her bags. She unlocked the door to her apartment and gestured for him to enter.
“So, what brings you to London?” she began.
“I’m actually in France for the next month filming for a Ridley Scott movie.”
"Heh." An awkward laugh. “I knew that. I don’t know why I asked. I just didn’t wanna sound like a stalker. Then again, you showed up waiting outside my plane so I guess we’re both creepers now.”
He smiled. She melted.
“So...I’m not gonna lie...when I got your text - ”
“You know what?” she interrupted. “Hold that thought. This is kind of rude of me to cut you off. You’re a guest in my home and all. But I really need to do something first. And it’s going to be very awkward but just bear with me through it. Okay? Please?”
“I’m the one who intruded on your day so please, go ahead.”
She took a deep breath and looked him straight in the eyes. Be strong, Dais, she reminded herself.
“When I was in Ireland, I wrote you a letter.”
“Oh.”
“It’s going to be a lot, but I don’t know that I’ll have the balls to read this again. And right now, for some godforsaken reason, I feel like I can do it.”
“You don’t have to if you don't want to.”
“No, I’m going to.”
“Okay. Should I...turn around?” he suggested.
“No no. Just go ahead and sit down.”
Adam looked down, shifting his gaze from one edge of the chair to the other. He was already seated but was too polite to note that. “I will sit.”
Daisy walked over to her handbag and pulled out a paper folded into quarters. She hoped he didn’t notice how worn it looked. Proof that she had fumbled with it more times than necessary. If he noticed, he didn’t say anything. She offered him a silent thanks for that.
“Actually, I think I’ll turn around,” she muttered.
“Whatever makes you comfortable,” Adam said.
Her pulse was racing. “Here goes."
"Dear Adam,
I’d be lying if I said I’m not heartbroken right now. I know the last time we spoke, I told you I was past it, but we both know that was just me trying to put some distance between us. I’m gutted even thinking about the way you asked me to stay. It makes me want to cry all over again (which I’ve been doing a lot of over here).
It’s been REALLY hard to make all my feelings go away, which is the reason I’m writing you this letter. I’m desperate to do something, anything, to get proper closure and move on.
Saying goodbye to you feels like saying goodbye to a part of myself. That’s silly, though. What’s that saying? You can’t lose something that was never yours? Trying to let you go feels like trying to quit an addiction. Which I guess makes Dingle my rehab center (a really lovely one though).
Looking back at everything with 2020 vision (haha, get it? 2020?) - I was fucked from the start. Meeting you was completely life-altering in a way baby Dais could have never expected. You were so REAL in a blur of superficiality. Latching onto you felt like a way of holding onto reality. A tether to the tangible when everything and everyone else wanted to turn me into someone I wasn't ready to be.
And I think you felt that too, in a way. Which is how we fell so easily into friendship. I truly do think that what we had started off innocently, and I’m grateful you were there for it all.
But I’m also SO angry with you. I fell in love with you. And you let me. And for that - I want to scream at everyone and everything. IT'S SHIT. I know it’s not fair to place all the blame on you. But I was in my early 20s and the less experienced of us. I misplaced our mutual understanding onto something more. But as someone with a wife, you should’ve fought harder to push me away. Why didn’t you? Why didn’t you insult me until I hated you? Why did you say nice things to me in private and let me play make-believe?
My feelings for you were so obvious that anyone could have seen them from a mile away. I suspect most did. I was so hopeful that if I was patient and attentive, you might drop everything for me with a grand gesture. But eventually, I learned that that’s not who you are. I know you’ve struggled with many relationships in the past, both romantic and otherwise. Frankly, I think part of you finds romantic feelings uncomfortable. I don’t say it to be cruel, but I simply care for you and think maybe someone needs to say it. I don’t like that I tried to change you - it wasn’t my place. It isn’t anyone’s.
But onto the positive. Cause that’s what all this is supposed to be about. Typical Dais, unable to stay on task.
Loving you, as painful as it was, also taught me so much about myself. Professionally, being around you made me a better performer. I was so set on being a worthy scene partner. Your instincts always pushed me to find authenticity in everything. Your humbled way of approaching the business is still unlike anyone else’s I've met. I’ll always try to maintain these things as I go forward.
As a...romantic partner? You made me feel seen. As I’ve tried to move on with others, I always felt I’ve had to hide parts of me. Yes, our situation...fuck, let’s call it what it was. Our affair - was based on hiding. But only because of its nature. Behind closed doors, you accepted me in my entirety. The goofiness, the grotesque parts, the darker ideations. I never had to hide these parts with you. So in a way, loving you, then losing you, taught me that it shouldn’t have to feel controlled with the right person. I shouldn’t have to be a budget version of myself to be loved.
If these are truly the last words I say to you (even if not in actuality. Cause I’m a melt and may not even send this). Just a few thoughts. I am so proud of you. The awards and Ben Solo campaign are proof that the world finally sees what I’ve always known. You are a once in a lifetime type of human. I know you hate it - the recognition, but you deserve it. And so much more. I truly hope you’re happy. I know I’m trying to be.
All my love, Daisy”
When she mustered up the strength to turn around, she didn’t know if she was seeing straight. Through her watery eyes, it looked like Adam was crying, too.
“Daisy,” was all he said. He got up and walked toward her, taking her into his arms. Silent tears fell between them, darkening their clothing.
“I can’t lie. When you first texted me, I was shocked. I didn’t think I’d see your name in my phone for...Well, I didn’t know that I’d see it again.”
“I didn’t think I’d see you again.”
“Can I tell you something? It's actually why I came to see you.” He asked.
“Sure.” Her head was still pressed against his chest.
“I don’t expect you to say anything in response, but...Joanne and I separated. My PR will be announcing it in the next couple of months now that award season is over.”
“Oh,” was all that she could say.
“Yeah.”
“I called off the engagement. To Tom. He understood that my heart was never fully in it.”
“He did?”
“Alright, maybe not right away. But yes. He's all moved out. I think we might be able to be friends again, eventually.”
Adam looked around at the apartment for the first time. “I honestly didn’t notice.”
“Yeah, just little old me again.”
The energy in the apartment shifted and Adam tilted her chin up. He kissed her gently at first as if to test the waters. When she opened her mouth to take more of him in, his attack became more fierce. She matched his kisses, though the tears hadn’t stopped. It was a deadly cocktail of heartache, longing, and love.
She couldn’t get enough of him. The ache for him, both his heart and his growing hardness returned. It was like riding a bike. The solace of revealing every last feeling to him increased her desire. She no longer feared the ache of having him. Only the absence of his weight on her.
He carried her into her bedroom and laid her down on her stomach.
She felt him shimmy her pants down her ass. He laid soft kisses on each cheek before sliding his tongue up between them. Her whole body trembled as he explored every forbidden part of her.
“OH MY GOD,” she cried out.
Her encouragement was all he needed. He adjusted her knees so he could access her more easily. A small rub of her clit. A lapping of her juices. Then back to licking up into her from front to back. She had never had anyone taste her puckering hole before. She thought she might come right there. She reached back to pull at his hair and covered him with her release.
He flipped her onto her back and kissed her. She could taste herself on his lips. She had claimed him. Or maybe it was the other way around. Whatever it was, she needed more of this feeling.
She reached out and grabbed his erection, guiding it into herself. It had been so long since she had felt him. She forgot how deep he could feel. She squeezed him in. Further. Then further. His hair fell on his face and she reached up to push it back.
She lifted herself onto her elbows and kissed him up and down his neck. This made him go crazy and he took her with even more force. She felt split in two. He grabbed her breasts as he held his rapid pace. He returned the favor and nuzzled into the crook of her neck.
“So fucking beautiful,” he whispered into her ear.
“ADAM. I’M COMING,” she announced.
She wrapped her legs around his back and squeezed him in one last time. “DAISY. FUUUCK.” He collapsed onto her, their sweat and tears now indistinguishable.
A moment later, she came back to her senses. “Goddamnit,” Daisy said, staring at the ceiling. “That was not supposed to happen.”
Adam rolled over. “Why does it matter? We’re both single now. We can be together.”
“We can’t,” she insisted. “We can't just start over when we, THIS, started from a place of lies and hiding.”
“Who the hell cares, Dais? Whose business is it but ours?”
“Even you know it's not that easy.”
He growled. “I know that none of that changes how I feel about you. People-pleasing is a game for those that lack understanding of their core selves.”
“Ugh. You sound so pretentious!!”
“Well, I'm sorry if I'm a little confused. We're both single and now we can't be together?? Was I only appealing to you when I was married? Help me understand this shit because I sure as hell can't.”
She got off the bed and began throwing his clothes at him. “The fact you would even suggest that is infuriating. You need to go. I've said my piece. That was all this was about. There's no reset button to any of this.”
Fully dressed, he stopped at her bedroom door. He looked ready to punch the wall. At the last moment, he opened his fist. It was almost as if he realized he had done enough damage for the day. Instead, his heavy hand slammed against the door frame.
He continued on and reached for the front doorknob. He looked back at her and she shuddered. She had seen him angry and frustrated, but had never been the one in his sights.
With a slam of the door, he left.
She began crying. So much for closure, she thought. Daisy searched for her phone and debated calling her mum or sisters. But then, a sudden cold sweat came on. She would have to admit what had happened. She dropped the phone. She wasn't ready for that conversation yet.
Sometime later, a knock at her door startled her from her stupor. She panicked. Security knew better than to let anyone up without her prior approval.
She heard a throat clear and then a thud. Much like a stray limb hitting the hard surface. “OW.”
The voice was unmistakable. She opened the door.
She looked at him and stared blankly. Her eyes seemed to ask, What are you doing here?
He extended a dark chocolate bar toward her.
“Hi. I'm Adam.”
“What?” She stared at him like tiny giraffes were dancing on his shoulders.
He shushed her and started again. “Hi, I'm Adam. It's great to meet you. At the risk of looking like an ass...can I take you out? I know we just met, but I have a good feeling about this.”
Finally understanding him, she smiled.

don't play the fool now (multi) — chapter five - Roza
[ summary ] : detox is feeling the pressure setting in as she completes the first day of her new mission though a distraction is paving her progress and bianca simply can't catch a break between a cute detective, katya and her own issues.
[ author's note ] : literally it's been so long I CANNOT, I am so so so so sorry omg... most of this was written about november so I am sorry if it's not up to par ): — lily xx

— *.✧
"Welcome to the place you'll be spending the next few months!"
Detox dropped the two boxes she was carrying in from the minute she had stepped into the elevator with Tatianna who had been showing her around the offices and police force building: this was by far the most idiotic and yet stressful mission the blonde had to deal with thus far.
Become an entirely different person
Pretend you're a transfer from another department
Get close to the captain of the unit
Murder or get information. Or both.
The details hadn't been worked out yet but Bianca had made it clear that Detox was not there to play around and flirt, she would be doing all the undercover work.
It was nothing but peachy keen to Detox. A frustration building in her bones. She had to spend the next few days, weeks, months acting like she was up to date with whatever the detectives and police force would make her out to be. Thank god she knew her narcotics, weapons and the basics: murder, how to get rid of fingerprints, stains, bruises, the stench off a dead body, all the things that being a professional had taught her.
She couldn't possibly be that useless.
Changing her hair was the worst part. No question.
Going from royal blue to a blonde bombshell wasn't exactly her style even if it definitely would cover up the overstated hair color and make her seem at least a tiny bit less suspicious with her long, flowing hair now blonde and curled thanks to Aquaria's whimsical hairstyling techniques.
"Welcome to me…" the words leaving her lips in an immensely hushed tone as she stared right back at the detective who gave a smile, eager to see another new worker around in their new and improved NYPD unit.
"You're gonna do great Heather, no doubt's honey."
She decided last minute to use her sister's name as her own for the time being, knowing Detox was a bit of a rough risk and besides: what better way to pay respects to the person and lawyer she had been closest to before going off to prison for substance abuse, smuggling of illegal substances and all the other things she had managed to hide from her transcript.
Bianca I fucking hate you, I really have to pull strings here and by myself.
The older girl butt in to her as the blonde had begun to set up her laptop and trinkets around, praying no more people would bombarde her for today. "You should totally get settled in but I know for a fact that Trinity wants to meet any of our new recruits! She's the unit's captain and I promise you, she's a bit hard hitting but super closested sweetheart."
Trinity .
So this was the person she had to play guessing games with the next few months and woe over in one way or another, to follow and pry her fingernails under.
"I'll definitely check her out."
"Thank you!"
She pulled out first a picture frame that held a sepia filtered photo of Detox, Alaska and Roxxy at their senior graduation together: all dolled up even from the beginning, it was odd to keep such sentiments from the pure and clean days before rotting in crime but what could she say? They were all still together, still best friends even if Alaska sometimes worried more for herself than anyone else, a bit colder than she used to be.
Once she had organized her things she stepped out of the door and made her way around the office, her acrylics hugging the file she had to give to one of her new co-workers for examination. They had spent hours working over the loophole with paperwork but luckily after careful examination and some strings pulled with Katya, they had come up with a solution and now she was Heather Sanderson, born in Maryland and a former employee of the local police department.
"Are you Heather?" A voice spoke behind her gently yet firm as Detox stared at the empty chair confused before wincing and turning quickly seeing a tall blonde with about her hair length and piercing eyes staring at her with intent for a reply back, her ID placed around lanyard which was littered with Canadian flags and text that reads Toronto across the fabric.
"Yes! Are you Brooke?" Nervously extending her hand she was met with a curious recluctentance before the Canadian smiled sweetly, sitting back in her seat once she parked her iced tea on the coaster she had sitting on her desk.
"I am, I know you have the files Tatianna was telling me about if I can look at them. Just the usual medical and background things I have to handle."
Detox looked over Brooke's shoulder, ignoring whatever the detective had to say towards her even though she was sure it was the usual welcome she had become so accustomed to since this morning. She had stepped through the doors starting her new mission, angry that Bianca had to assign her to such a damn cup out: go undercover and pretend you're a decent human being for a few months so we can get a deeper insight and information on the police and detective department.
Peering over her shoulders, she noticed a police officer of average height. Sporting the signature uniform as well as long brunette hair that curled at the ends—lighter highlights cascading from her roots: she had a great upkeep and hairstylist clearly though her dark brown eyes and perfect made over face was the focal point.
Fuck, she's gorgeous.
The same girl had taken off her jacket and threw it on her chair, continuing to chat with the person right near her point of vision, blinking as her makeup shined under the dimly lit up computer screen she was staring at meticulously. Her body hugging her tight fitting blouse and her badge shining.
Brooke tapped the older woman's shoulder with a laugh, "Stop staring with your mouth open, you'll catch flies." Detox rolled her eyes, not about to take shit from her new "peers" as if she were to become close to anyone she had to work within the next few months of the missions allocation.
"That's Trinity Taylor, she's our police unit's captain."
The sirens flared off in her head instantaneously once she fit the last piece of the puzzle: this was the girl, thegirl she had to woe and become close to and get information out of for Bianca, for the team.
Trinity was why she was getting paid and doing this entire mission.
"She's very pretty."
Brooke laughed, rolling her eyes at how dense the new rookie was being. "Yes, she's also got really thick skin, a cold hearted exterior and is surprisingly hilarious as ironic as that may sound." The Canadian shook her head, "She's single but I wouldn't try it, especially since she's your squadron leader and will absolutely give you the beat down no matter the call."
This mission definitely just got interesting.
"Oh don't worry about that, just seeing what I'll have to work with is all."
The brunette caught the eye of the gaggling stares, Detox immediately snapping from it and looking away completely embarrassed though she heard a slight snicker under Brooke's breathe, wanting to slap her. Hearing the thud of the boots under the tiles she simply stood her ground and was prepared to act as casual as possible.
"Morning Trinity." The Canadian hummed aloud, typing across her floral tape covered keyboard pretending to analyze the files while not so secretly deciding to eavesdrop and see where this conversation goes.
"Good morning Brooke Lynn." Trinity crossed her arms and took a look up and down Detox who stood with a permanent paralyzed fear in her eyes, she felt so damn fearless all the time and yet one glimpse of this girl had completely tore her down piece by piece and left her distraught. It was pathetically hilarious.
"Jesus, I'm not gonna kill you for staring, not like I can blame you." She flipped her hair as Brooke coughed to hide the obvious smirk across her lips as she took a long sip of her iced tea that Adore had brought her from Starbucks. Going vigorously through the files she had managed to find her medical records and began her less than exciting examination.
"Hey, you're the one member of our unit, right?"
Finally feeling enough willpower to respond she bit her lip and nodded, "Yeah, Heather." Trinity gave a broad handshake, firmly holding her hand as the blonde licked her lips feeling a bit out of place already and obviously.
"Trinity Taylor."
"It's nice to meet the person everyone told me to go and scout out in the first place."
Trinity tilted her head to the side and chuckled. She was definitely amused that Detox was so reluctant to smile, to breathe since it was her first day: the atmosphere was always tense but that was just the job. The Floridian could only hope she wasn't threatening in her status and by her looks alone or else the training and all that came after would be a complete and utter disaster.
Detox wanted to slap herself, every time she glanced over or they made basic, polite eye contact her entire body jolted awake and she could tell by her change in expressions that she was utterly terrified. Which was extremely odd considering how calm she felt at her actual profession which was twice was horrifying and awful in danger, stress, you name it.
"Well, your first assignment with me is just a refresher, I'm sure you know basic training coming from another unit?"
"Absolutely."
She ran her nails through her blonde hair as Trinity handed back her files with her eyes gleaming and a smile slipping through, "See you soon, my office is down the hall." A flush crept up on Detox's face as she turned and gave a goodbye to Brooke Lynn who waved back and turned with an immediate sigh, taking one more sip from her iced tea.
"You're hopeless."

Bianca sat aimlessly in her chair, scrolling through the constant masses of emails she had to sort and help with, the requests and the actual patrons and then those who simply knew her as their boss. She had never given most of her own girl's and team her personal phone number to the fact she knew it be taken advantage off. Only three people had her number on this damn circuit: Sharon, Jinkx & Bob.
However, despite this there was still an influx of text messages that read off requests from the other girls to which Bianca would bitterly reply with them to email her and not have Sharon, Jinkx or Bob become the scapegoat for their needs and wants or better yet: just don't bother Bianca!
Well that wasn't entirely the truth however it was close enough.
She understood the tasks she had to take on as a leader even if it meant countless requests and permissions granted.
The older woman's phone buzzed and the corner of her lips curled into a smile, hoping it be Adore whom had been quite a good company even just through the phone the past couple days. Her humour, her personality, fashion sense, job— she was everything Bianca wasn't and it made every exchange the more exciting and yet, opened twice the bigger grey area between them.
From: Katya (3 Unread Messages)
"Oh just this fucking whore."
Relieved she didn't have to think about two hours for a reply Adore sent, She slid open her phone with her fingerprint and sighed before her eyes grazed over the messages plainly.
Bianca! девушка !
I believe we should go and see Trixie since you told me you need to make some transactions...
I can tell you that I would be glad to tag along and contribute ;) xx
Her fingers slid across the keyboard as she typed up a reply.
If you're driving.
You're more than welcome to come with.
She assumed the notification she got almost immediately after her texts was an indication that Katya was already on her way and that she should get ready for her.
I'm outside whenever you're ready, you know where I park.
Blatantly staring at her phone she got up and only took a small blue clutch purse and tied her hair up feeling nothing but discontent towards wanting a development between her and a fucking detective . She could almost slap herself, she actually wanted Adore to text her back and it felt fucking disgusting to actually enjoy human interaction that wasn't the usual rundown about missions, jobs or sewing.
Though the sewing usually only applying to Aquaria who would come and see her on the rare downtime they had. The younger girl always asking about her hems, a new sewing trick or what fabric to use for what kind of silhouette.
She locked her office and gave a quick holler to Jinkx who sat in the common area, reading a book and drinking what must've been her third or fourth cup of coffee judging by the dried stains that splattered across the white cup. Bianca interrupted simply letting her know she'd be with Katya to finish some needed exchange and business.
"Have fun, tell Katya and Trixie hello from me."
Bianca didn't care too much about getting money from Trixie, she was sweet and kept a secret well enough considering her position. Though half of that underlying sweetness was probably from the paralyzing fear that if she ever told anyone she'd be blown out on the spot, no hesitation by Bianca herself.
Approaching the blue BMW Bianca's eyes wandered through her backwoods garage, undeniably pressed that she had to even go to the bank and be in public. She kept her image hidden well, no one would ever suspect Bianca Del Rio as the most known menace and wanted mafia boss in New York. All they would see is a blonde, thick Russian accent and leather jacket on with her friend; black hair, thick mascara and quite the fashionable woman.
At least that's what Bianca had hoped for as a first impression.
Katya's grin sat permanently pursed across her lips as she took the car out of park, turning out of the secluded garage and looking to Bianca for any last minute changes, any final looks of reclusiveness. The older woman cleared her throat, her fingers running through the hair that stranded from her face as she put on her sunglasses with a hard roll of the eyes.
"Let's get this shit over with."

Ladynoir Month: Animal Tendencies
@ladynoirjuly2019
Ao3 FFN
*Has basket of fluff in arm* who wants fluffffff? *Tosses freely into the air*
Please enjoy.
Animal tendencies. It was something that got the best of Chat at times since receiving his miraculous. And sometimes, it was a pain in the butt to deal with.
Take for instance, the first time he purred in front of Ladybug during the whole Prime Queen deal. That was embarrassing, and while it wasn't ever brought up afterwards, he knew Ladybug still remembered it. That very thought would haunt him until his grave.
But what spurred this particular thought was right after an akuma attack. The press was huddled around the two, asking question after question, when a group fans started to mix in as well.
There had been one boy among the rest that was really adamant on getting Ladybug to notice him, so much so, that he shouted her name, and waved frantically for her. It took her a few minutes, but soon enough, she saw him and waved back, causing the unknown dude to take that as the initiative to sprint over to her, something ready in his hand for her to obviously sign.
The jealousy hadn't sparked quite yet. After all, it was just a fan, nothing harmful.
It was when he tried to grab her hand and kiss it, that something ticked in his chest, because that was his thing. But he didn't own her, it was a simple kiss, him trying to be a gentleman and Chat knew his lady enough, that she could have the guy on the ground in a second flat if need be.
But then, he leaned in, invading her personal space, showering her with compliments and was definitely making her uncomfortable.
His eyes locked onto hers, silently asking if she needed help yet, because he'd show the creep just what it felt like to have a cataclysm to the ribs if need be. She shook her head, letting him know that she was okay and could handle it. She'd tag him in if need be.
He kept his guard up as the guy continued to talk with her, keeping his hands to himself for the time being— Chat knew the second he would touch her, she'd have him on his back, and probably not in the way the poor sap wanted— And tried to make as much small talk as he could.
Now, this was where the animal tendencies came in to play. As the twinge of jealousy began to grow when Ladybug tried to make polite conversation and the boy just wouldn't read her cues of wanting it to end. Chat was overcome with a need to rub himself all over her, and leave his sent imprinted on her skin.
And in that moment, he had never cursed Plagg so much in all the time that Adrien had him.
Ladybug was his girlfriend. Not his property. He had no right to scent mark her. He had no claim over her like she was his territory, nor should he in the first place. So his stupid animal tendencies could just shut up for all that he cared.
Eventually, Ladybug couldn't take much more of the conversation, she told him that she was becoming uncomfortable, and she really had to go. The guy seemed shocked— maybe he thought his advances were working and he couldn't read her signs? — and left with an embarrassed goodbye.
He could tell the second she was relieved, and skipped back over to him, but made sure not to get too touchy with him, the crowd may have dissipated in the past ten minutes, but they were still wary about people find out about their relationship.
"Hey, kitty." Even after that off putting encounter, her face remained bright, and it went full force she was near him.
Just over a year of dating, and he still wasn't used to that. In fact, he doubted if he'd ever get used to it. It seemed something out of a fairytale when she looked at him the way that she did.
And he was thankful, each and every day for her. "Hey, bugaboo. Patrol tonight?"
She laughed and nodded. "You know it. Same spot?"
He winked. "See you there."
The night came quicker than expected, though, it was evening already when they had fought the akuma, and the couple were already seated on the tower, trying to soak up what little bit of spring that they had left.
Chat couldn't help but think back to the idea of wanting to mark Ladybug earlier. It wasn't right with how his primal thoughts took over. He couldn't push something on her like that, there were still boundaries someone had to keep, and that wouldn't be fair to her if he went all primal and marked her as his. And he definitely wouldn't ever do that without her permission.
Even if a small part of him wanted to, he'd never ask her if he could do something like that in the first place. The act alone was just too embarrassing. No, he wouldn't. He'd let it be, and get some control over his stupid cat instincts. They couldn't control him. He wouldn't allow them to.
But she could tell when he was off, she always could. "Kitty." Her voice was soft, but as always, commanding in the fact that she wasn't going to back down. That was his lady for you. He turned his head to the side to look at her. "What's going on?"
He sighed, but did his best to reassure her. "Nothing, bugaboo. Just some stuff going on inside my head."
Ladybug scooted closer, brushing her arms against his and his mind went blank after that. Touching was really making thought a hard concept to connect in his mind. It shouldn't be that hard to think, to do something that was an easy task, but any thoughts just drained out of him. But he pressed on. "I-I don't want you to think less of me."
"Oh, Cherie." She cooed, grabbing his face and moving him until they were eye to eye. Dang, it. She knew what that nickname did to his heart. She knew his weaknesses too well sometimes. Cute little ladybugs and their cute little ocean blue eyes. Why!? "You can always tell me. I'm never gonna judge you harshly like that."
He knew that. He really, really did. But it was hard sometimes. He always had to be careful with what he said around his father. One word out of place and he would be in big trouble. He knew that wasn't the case with Ladybug, but the thought had been scorn into him for so long. Old habits die hard. "I just ..today, with that guy that was trying to flirt with you. You already have heard how I purr when you and I got too close together during Prime Queen. Well, turns out wanting to mark things that my stupid brain considers 'mine' is a thing too."
Her eyes bulged out of her head as she looked forward, completely taken aback by his answer. "Oh." She breathed.
"Yeah."
And now he made it awkward. Of course. Ten out of ten.
Would not recommend though.
Why did he have to make it awkward? Why did he have to ruin everything good for himself?
He couldn't look at her after that. He expected to be pushed, lightly slapped, or at the very least, have her look away in disgust,
But, instead he heard a soft sigh from his left, from her lips, and then, out of nowhere, she moved herself the rest of the way into his lap. "Chat." She breathed tenderly. "Look at me. Please."
He did, but not without a lot of will power to do so. His breath caught at the sight of not seeing any anger or disappointment stewing in her eyes. "Yeah?"
"I'm not angry." She promised. "It's okay. It's okay that you felt the way that you did, you didn't act on what you thought, besides, I kinda see it differently."
His eyebrows knitted together just above his mask. "How so?"
Her smile was bright enough to make people think it was actually day time instead of night. "Because it's not being territorial. You don't look at me and think you have a right to me, kitty." Her fingers started to lightly stroke his jawline and he leaned into her touch as if it beckoned him— and he melted as always. "I'm yours, freely willingly, as much as you're mine. Nothing else to it. We're equal in this. There's a difference between being territorial and wanting to be each others."
"But-"
"We're not animals, Chat." She cut him off. "We're human. Maybe we get some of our kwami's tendencies, but we're still human. Being connected to them doesn't make us them. No matter what, you rubbing on me isn't gonna make me locked to you. That's for us to decide. We get to choose forever. Not some scent marking. "
His chest deflated somewhat at that. "You're right, I know that. It's just hard sometimes to control. Especially today, when that kid was trying to get special attention from you."
She proceeds that, her fingers halting their track and almost causing him to whine, but he held it in the back of his throat. When she procced what he had said, her eyes lit up, clear and endless. "Why don't you just ask me then?"
He blinked several times, her words downright frazzling his brain and sending every connecting wire to short circuit. "Wha-what?"
Her lips parted and he wanted to take them between his own. It should be illegal to be that cute. Along with the giggle that passed said lips. "I said, ask me. The worst thing I could say is no. I'm not that scary. I promise, it's not as big of a deal as you think."
But it was, and it was more than he could ever explain in his lifetime. "I don't wanna put that on you."
Her eyes were understanding, and her face remained soft as it always did when she was trying to get through his thick skull. "Though, I do appreciate the thought that you wouldn't want to do anything like this without my permission, I fully with a clear mind, know that this is a lot to you. And it's okay. I promise. I want to."
He tried to swallow the pins and needles that pricked the inside of his airways. "C-can I..um..can I-"
Thankfully, she had mercy on him and nodded between a few bouts of laughter. "Yeah, kitty. Of course."
He pounced without another thought, knocking them both on their backs, and causing her bell of laughter to reach even higher and fuller than ever before. His nose ran the length of her face, her head, cheeks, nose, everywhere he could get his mark on her, making sure to press just enough to leave his smell behind.
His pur revved up as he felt comfort take hold— she loved his pur, he knew that for sure so it was just an added bonus— and all he could feel was warmth, safety, and that taste of home that she often brought to him. He craved it, almost desperately.
Her arms wound around his neck, her fingers teasing the tuffs of hair that met the neck and hairline.
Then he found a particular spot on her collar bone where, when he pressed his nose into and purred just a little more loudly, was rewarded with a small little chirp.
That… was interesting. He did it again.
Another chirp and he smiled against her collar bone. "Bugaboo, did you just chirp like a ladybug?"
It was her to turn to be embarrassed as he pulled back to look at her. "No…." But her eyes refused to meet his, and he knew she was flat out lying, in tease, of course. His lady wasn't a liar for real.
He booped her nose. "You did. I knew I'd find your bugs, eventually."
Her eyes narrowed. "That wasn't even a good one, Chaton."
He fake gasped in offense. "Me-ouch. That was a good one, and you know it."
She rolled her eyes as he finished the rest of his rubs against her. He pulled back, ready to take his weight off of her as he was sure his weight was becoming too much. But as he put the little space between them, she combed her fingers through his hair, petting him and pulled him back to her, refusing to let him go, as she silently asked to keep him as close as possible.
He agreed, he always did for her.
When he sniffed to see if it worked, he was overcome with his scent mixed with hers and he felt that swell of pride in his chest.
His his his was all his brain could chant.
He chuckled against the skin of her neck, his warm breath causing her to shiver just enough for him to see. "Guess you're mine for forever then." He said in jest to his earlier fears.
She shook her head. "I already made that decision a long time ago, kitty." She corrected. "A long time ago."
Husband's Note:
Wife: "Today's prompt is Animal Tendencies."
Me: "Ah so this is the chapter that our lovebirds go all," *wink wink, nudge nudge*
Wife, now less amused: "No."
Me after proofreading the chapter: "Nevermind this is way better."
I mean, there was only like 125 people at the wedding, that's not TOO many witnesses that I have to worry about, right? I can claim it never happen, right? XD
I promise, I do love him.

Run Away
Length warning: 3,059 words
You shifted in your seat, trying to get comfortable. The room was growing unbearably stuffy from all the people, and more kept arriving through the doors behind you. You took the paper program and fanned yourself with it for a moment. It didn't exactly help. Sighing, you let your arm drop down in to your lap. Then you felt an unsettling feeling and turned your head to look at the person next to your right. Your mom was giving you a disapproving look. Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you looked away to examine the little booklet you held. There was certainly a lot in it. Not exactly a simple wedding, which explains why you and your family had received an invitation. This was meant to be a spectacle. Orchestra music began playing and you glanced at the doors in the back of the large room. More guest filed in though instead of the wedding party. This was only the first of three songs to be played before the actual ceremony. You wanted to groan and have a bit of a tantrum but you resisted that as well. Most of the guests took their seats and the chatter grew quieter. You surveyed the people sitting around you, recognizing very few faces. Then you looked across the aisle to the bride's side. There wasn't a single person in the crowd that you knew, though it was hard to see everyone. There had to be over a hundred people in the room. One person in particular caught your eye and you watched them amusingly. The man looked as if he didn't want to be here either. He was slouching in his chair and fiddling with the program that had been handed out. Then he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He only managed to mess with it for a few seconds before the older woman sitting next to him leaned in closer. She said something to him and he put the phone back in his pocket.
A small smile formed on your face. You could imagine the scolding he received. Probably the same one that your mom would give you if you dared to take out your phone. Suddenly the male turned and met your gaze. You inhaled sharply and quickly looked away. After waiting a few seconds, you chanced peeking over at him again. He was still looking at you and when he noticed he had your attention once more, he screwed up his face. An exaggerated expression that seemed to be his silent pleading, 'Just kill me now and put me out of my misery.' You swiftly slapped a hand over your mouth and looked at your lap. A snort of laughter still escaped you though, so you knew your mom was surely giving you another one of her looks. Clearing your throat, you lowered your hand and avoided looking at her. Instead you turned your attention back to the man. He had a smirk on his face, making you think that he saw the look your mom had given you. You gave him a playful glare and watch as his smirk turned in to a huge grin. At that moment, you noticed the woman beside him staring at you. You turned away and acted as if you were simply examining the crowd of people. After a bit, you peeked back over and saw the older woman earnestly talking to the man. He was shaking his head with an annoyed expression on his face, obviously not enjoying whatever she was saying. Then she was looking at you again. You averted your gaze once more as curiosity ate at you. What was she saying? Probably wondering if he knew her. That was a likely question. It didn't exactly explain his reaction though. There was definitely more to it, you just couldn't figure out what it was. The music changed, piquing your interest and hope. Instead of the classic wedding march, another song played. Slouching in your chair, you wished this thing would get over with already.
Once the long ceremony concluded, all the guests moved into another room that was even larger than the first. Round tables filled most of it, except the center where a dance floor was, and there was one long banquet table sitting on a small stage on the far side. You glanced around, wondering what to do and whether there was an escape route, when your arm was grabbed. "Be a dear and find our seats." your mother told you. Without waiting for a reply, she released you and moved away to talk to a group of people that had gathered. Rolling your eyes, you meandered your way around the tables. At least the room seemed to be divided between the groom and the bride again so you stuck to the tables on the right. It still took you several minutes before finally finding a table with your name on a place card. You sat down and checked the other cards besides yours. One had your mother's name on it while the other had a name you vaguely recognized. Probably one of your mom's co-workers. Surely your mom wasn't the only person from the company to receive an invitation. The crowd started to thin as people moved through the room. Some took their seats, more were standing and talking to each other. Time seemed to slowly tick by until there was the squeal of a microphone. You looked over at the banquet table and realized there was a DJ booth tucked in to a corner behind it. "Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce the bride and groom!" Cheers erupted as the doors opened. The newly married couple waltzed in, waving happily as they headed towards the dance floor. A song began playing and they stepped in to each other's arms. They danced, smiling at each other, and you couldn't help but smile as well. Even though they were putting on a show for over a hundred people, it was still plainly obvious that they were in love. Once the song was over, there was a round of applause and then everyone took their seats. Servers entered the room and food was set on the tables. You straightened in anticipation and willed your stomach to not growl. At least there was one good thing about being dragged along. What was set in front of you though promptly crushed your lifted movie. It resembled food, but you couldn't tell what it was. There there was also the fact that you could probably finish it in three to four bites. You lifted your fork and poked at the food before shifting it around your plate. Was that a mushroom? And this other thing was probably eggplant. You glanced at the others seated at the table to see them picking at their food, more interested in talking to each other than eating. Obviously about work as you picked out words like 'proposal', 'insolvent', and 'cash flow statement'. Taking a deep breath that did nothing for you, you hurriedly ate the food in four bites. Then you stood up. "Excuse me." you politely said even though you doubted anyone would hear you. You started to head to the door that you entered through when you noticed another door off to the side and much closer. As soon as you passed through it, you took another deep breath, breathing much easier this time.
The hallway was mostly empty but you spotted a few servers off to the left. That must be the direction of the kitchen so you went right instead. The hall came to an end and you made another right. Then you came to an abrupt stop so you wouldn't trip over someone. "Hey." You blinked in surprise. The man sitting on the floor was the same one from earlier. "Uh... hey." You looked past him a little ways and saw a set of double doors. "You making a run for it?" he asked and indicated the doors. "No." you replied. "Just hiding out for a bit." He grinned at you. "Me too." Then he lifted plate off the floor that was piled full of cream puffs. "I stole these from the kitchen." "Oh my god, food." You sat next down next to him and grabbed a handful. "Guess dinner wasn't all that good." he said with a chuckle. You shook your head. "You didn't miss much." "My name is Himchan by the way." Swallowing a mouthful of food, you introduced yourself as well. Himchan grabbed a cream puff and nibbled on it. "So, I'm assuming you were dragged here against your will." "Yeah. My mom works for the groom and she basically demanded I come. Said it would be the perfect chance expand my network." You rolled eyes at that. "What about you?" "My mom knows the bride. Not sure how though." You eyed him curiously. "Why did you get dragged here?" A noticeable blush graced his cheeks as he looked away. "I'd rather not say." You laughed, you couldn't help it. "Okay." Then you changed the subject, noticing the relief in his eyes that you didn't press him for an answer. Much to your surprise, the conversation flowed easily between you two. He was easy to talk to and you found yourself laughing quite a few times. And when you made a sarcastic comment, making him laugh as well, you even found yourself grateful that your mother had brought you here against you will. Which caused your face to heat up and you looked away from him to hide it. Loud music filled the hallway at that moment and you naturally turned your head towards the sound. "Oh, guess the dinner and toasting is done." you commented. Then you looked back at the male to see him smiling. "Guess so." Himchan echoed. Then he offered you his hand. "May I have this dance?" You snorted out a laugh and amusingly nodding your head while giving him your hand. "Sure." He quickly stood up before you got off the floor and helped you up. Your willed yourself not to blush as you smiled and glanced at the floor. You expected him to lead you back to the dining hall but instead, he held your hand and placed his other hand on your waist. "Here?" You giggled and settled your hand on his shoulder. "Oh yeah. Much better than having to deal with all those people. And my mom." You giggled again and let him lead you in to a waltz that certainly didn't match the beat of the music. Which only made you laugh more and his own laugh mingled with yours. Suddenly he jerked to a stop and released you. You blinked at him in surprise, seeing the happiness drain out of his face. "There you are." Whirling around, you saw the woman who had been sitting next to him during the ceremony. She had a grin on her face which only grew bigger as she eyed you up and down. "Uhh... I... I w-was..." stuttered Himchan. The woman closed the distance to you. "Well, aren't you going to introduce us?" Himchan tried to stammer out your name but failed so you told her it yourself. She repeated it, as if testing the sound of your name. "Are your parents here?" she questioned. "Uh... My mom is. My dad is at work right now." Instantly she looped her arm around yours and began dragging down the hallway. "Wonderful! I'd love to meet her." Your eyes widened in surprise as you tried to process what was happening. It didn't help that she kept firing off question after question. Where did you work, where did you go to school, where did your parents work, etc. You felt so helpless that you could only glance at Himchan trailing after the two of you. "Mom, stop. Please." he pleaded under his breath, so quietly that you barely heard him. You entered the dining hall and was yanked to a stop. "Where is she?" the woman asked while glancing around. "Uh..." A loud voice caught your attention and you turned. "There you are! There's some people I want you to meet!" You watch your mom approach you, eyeing the lady with you curiously. "Who is this?" Himchan's mom finally let you go and stepped next to your mom. "You have a lovely daughter." Then she grabbed Himchan by the arm and yanked him closer. "And this is my son, Himchan." Your mom's gaze flickered between the two of them for a moment before a bright smile formed on her face. "Oh! Such a handsome, young man. What do you do for a living Himchan?" Before the man could speak, his mother answered for him. Then continued listing his various achievements and hobbies, plus where she and her husband worked. Your mother nodded her head eagerly, hanging on to every word spoken, until she glanced at you with a look of surprise. As if she had completely forgotten you were there. "Why don't you two go out on the dance floor and enjoy yourselves?" "Splendid idea." Himchan's mother agreed. "In fact, they were just out in the hallway dancing." This brought a chuckle to both woman as they headed over to a table to sit down and continued talking.
You could only stare at the older women while your brain worked through what had just happened. An idea formed in your head that didn't make sense to you, but at the same time it did. It was too unbelievable though! But... that was it, right? Tearing your gaze away from them, you turned to face Himchan. His face appeared bright red, and in his eyes was a mixture of guilt and pity. That was enough for you. Your mouth dropped open as your eyes widened. "That's why my mom dragged me here." he confessed before casting his gaze downwards to the floor. You looked back at the two mothers and wondered if they were getting ahead of themselves by already planning the wedding. "Ready to run away yet?" Hope swelled in your chest but was instantly crushed. "My mom is my ride." "I drove myself." You quickly looked at Himchan and saw the questioning look in is eye. It lasted only a brief second though, and then the two of you were moving at the same time. You ran to the side door you had disappeared through before and back to your hiding spot. This time you kept going with Himchan pulling ahead and pushing the door open for you. You were in the main entryway now and racing towards the front doors. Giddiness overwhelmed you and you giggled like crazy. You managed to catch up to Himchan and you each went out a separate door. Much to your surprise though, there was a person standing right outside the door you went through. You bumped in to them, sending you reeling as you stumbled, but Himchan caught you in his arms so you didn't fall. Then his hand slid in to yours. Holding his hand tightly, the two of you ran down the front steps to the sidewalk. Only then did you turn back to look at the person you had ran in to. "Sorry!" you shouted back at them. The bewildered expression on their face made you laugh. What an odd sight it must be, the two of you running out of the large church like you did. It made you think of a bride running away from her wedding with a man who wasn't the groom. Himchan led you through the parking lot to a car. He unlocked it and you slipped in to the passenger seat as he got behind the wheel. You breathed heavily, trying to catch your breath even though the laughter that kept wanting to come out wasn't helping. "Wow!" you exclaimed. "Yeah." he agreed, laughing as well. "So, where to?" It only took a few seconds to think before you smiled brightly at him. "I'd kill for a cheeseburger." "Holy shit you read my mind." You busted out laughing and his own laughter mixed with yours. Then he started the car and you hurriedly put on your seatbelt. In just a few minutes, you found yourself sitting at a booth with Himchan sitting across from you. You practically bounced with excitement, earning you a few chuckles from him as he watched you. Once the server brought you your food, you grabbed your burger and took a bite of it. It tasted like heaven and you moaned in pleasure. "Feeling better now?" he teasingly asked. "Almost." You stood up and rounded the booth. He looked confused as you slid in next to him but you didn't say anything. Then you kicked off your shoes, leaned backwards, and brought your feet up to rest on the seat where you had been sitting. "There. Now I'm good." Laughing, he mimicked your posture and put his feet up as well. The two of you silently ate for a while, but you noticed him continuously glancing at you. You waited to see if he was going to say something except he never did. So finally you met his gaze and asked, "What? Why do you keep looking at me?" He blushed and looked away for a bit before looking back at you. A shy smile formed on his face. "Being dragged along wasn't so bad I guess." he mumbled. Your own face heated up and this time you had to look away for a bit. Butterflies fluttered in your stomach. "Yeah. I guess not." you quietly agreed. "Sorry about my mom though." he said, blushing more from embarrassment. "She's a bit..." You nodded in understanding. "Wait until you get to know my mom." After you said those words, you realized the implication in them. Get to know. As in he was going to be around you mother more, and therefore spending time with you as well. The little twinkle in his eye signaled that he caught what you said as well and he grinned. "Guess we'll just make sure we always have an exit plan and a getaway car." Suddenly you could picture it, the two of you always running while holding hands, and you smiled. "Sounds good."

Camp Wilkemon- Part 2
Twigs snap beneath your feet as you walk through the overgrown forest tot the bonfire. The night before the campers arrive was traditionally the staff campfire; Mariana probably knew about it, and knew that it was just an excuse for everyone to get drunk, but she for whatever reason let it slide and assumed complete obliviousness toward the tradition. She probably figured it was best to let everyone get it out of their system before the camp season starts, plus she probably also knows you would all do it anyways regardless of her resistance.
You and Nicole trudged through the thick, overgrown, and buggy woods- hiking under some fallen trees following the sparce markers the staff from years ago left along the trail. You eventually reach the clearing, as the break in the trees exposes the sky- so blue and full of stars twinkling and illuminating. In front of you grows an enormous bonfire: sparks flying in all directions and accompanied by the sound of the crackling wood. The bonfire has been built up over the years- the piles of ash from drunken summers past.
“Y/N!!!”
You look around and pot your friend Spencer from across the other side of the fire. You grab Nicole and head over to envelop him in a big hug. He hands you a cold beer and greets Nicole similarly. You take a sip of the beer- letting the cool shitty college grad beer flow go down like high quality Grey Goose.
“So what have you been up to all year?” you excitingly ask Spencer.
“Not too much- just school, pissing my mom off playing drums all day- the usual. I actually want...”
Spencer continued on, and as interested as  you were to catch up with him you couldn’t stop thinking about that guy at the staff meeting. He’s got to be around here somewhere? You nod along as Spencer’s story becomes muffled chatter- your mind occupied while your eyes wandered the crowd searching.
“seen him Y/N?”
You fix your eyes back on Spencer- him and Nicole looking at you questioningly.
“Uh.. sss....sorry what?”
“Have you seen Ryan around?”
“Oh no... not yet- he came back this summer right?”
Ryan has worked at the camp as long as you have- you guys actually started as co-counselors and became pretty instant friends. He kept to himself for the most part- truly coming out in his writing. His songs exposed a whole hidden side to himself and the last year or so he was head staff for songwriting and composition.
“Yeah, we drove in late today and missed the meeting. We actually convinced our friend Bren-”
“EYYYY SPENCE!!!”
You hear shouts coming from deeper in the woods and as the shouts grow louder you can start to make out Ryan coming out of the woods with Brendon. As they come closer, the smell of pot accompanied them. The two sloppily make their way out of the woods over to the group. Brendon, with a beer in one hand, slings his arm around Spencer’s shoulder- practically leaning on him for support. “Y/N, Nicole!!! Welcome back!” Ryan drunkenly slurs as he wraps his arms around you and Nicole. He pulls away and slaps Spencer softly on the cheek. Ryan may be quiet- but you get some booze in that kid and he can get… quite animated. You pull yourself up straighter, trying to hide your gaze as your eyes move up Brendon from his black vans up to his bright, wide, drunken smile. Putting your your best flirty expression you take a sip and look toward Brendon. “Brandon, right?” you ask full knowing his name was Brendon. But you didn’t want to come across and too interested or obsessive- even though your eyes and smile were doing a pretty poor job of that already. He tilts his head back a little, a wide grin blooming on his face before he chuckled-
“Close enough haha. It’s Brendon- or you can call me Bren.”
You are grateful for the booze in your system and the heat from the fire that already made your cheeks flushed, hiding the natural bashful flush they exposed. You hold up your beer as a toast and fix your eyes with his, smiling as you chuckle,
“Okay Bren. Welcome to camp.”
The 5 of you sloppinly clang cans and toasted to the upcoming summer. The remainder of the night you spent catching up with all the friends from summers past. Brendon, Ryan, and Spencer were absent from most of the fire- assumably taking hits in the woods. Toward the end of the night you and Nicole had joined some other counselors around the fire, sitting on broken logs circling the dwindling flames. The night air carries a slight chill, and despite the warmth radiating from the fire, you find yourself shivering slightly. You pull your knees in toward your chest and clasp your hands around them. You hear a rattling coming from the woods and turn your head slightly enough so you can see behind you the 3 guys coming over toward the group. They polo themselves around the fire- Ryan sprawling out on the shortest log so he can watch the stars above- which have grown brighter and brighter as the fire grew dimmer and dimmer. Ryan is so high at this point he probably doesn’t even realize they are stars as he lays quietly counting “one firefly, two fireflies, three fireflies”. Spencer slides next to Nicole kicking her leg out of the way to clear his place to sit. You look up and warmly smile as Brendon’s long legs stretch over the log and he plops himself next to you. The dim glow from the dying flames illuminate his face with a soft orange glow, his sharp jaw cutting a shadow. The sparks of the fire danced in his dark and rich eyes. He takes the last sip of his drink and puts the empty can in the dirt by his shoes against the log. You feel the cool breeze against your back and hug your knees in closer to your chest in an attempt to squeeze in any remaining body heat. He sits with his legs spread apart and his arms on his knees, twiddling his fingers between his legs. As you watch the fire slowly die you rest your chin on your knees, then turn and rest your cheek on your knees and look up at Brendon. “So… what made you come this year? Spence said he has been asking you for a while?” “Got tired of Spense whining about it” He chuckles with a wide open mouth, causing you to consequently grin. “Haha no I just figured I’d get to hang out with my friends, make some cool music, meet new people… Idk I just wanted to get out you know?” “Well then you definitely came to the right place”. You grab the sleeves of your thin blue long sleeve top and pull them farther down your arm- covering as much skin from the cool breeze as you could. Brendon noticed you shivering slightly and a subtle concern grew on his face. “Here… here take my sweatshirt” Brendon begins to take off his faded gray sweatshirt.
“No no don’t worry about it- I’ll survive haha” “Y/N its no biggie your freezing. Here…” Brendon takes of his sweatshirt, smoothing his now exposed tshirt underneath. You pull the oversized hoodie over your body, which swallowed you whole as it encompassed your frame. You pulled the extra fabric of the sleeves into your hands and crossed your arms legging the sweatshirt envelope you. It smelt like a comforting mix of smoke and woods. “You guys ready to head out? You know there is no way Mariana is letting us sleep any later than 7 tomorrow. Got to be ready to wake up and handle some demon children” Nicole says as she stands up from her log, dragging Spencer with her. You yawn and nod;  the 3 of you follow Nicole out of the woods grabbing Ryan from his “firefly” counting trip. Impressively he got to about 75. As you reach the part of the trail that separates into two pathways, one going to the girls camp and one to the guys, you grab the bottom of the sweatshirt to begrudgingly return it to its owner. “No no don't worry about it” Brendon stops you as the other guys head off toward their cabins. “You can just give it back to me tomorrow”
“You sure?”
“Yeah of course- I’ll see you at breakfast?”
“Yeppp see you tomorrow. Bye Bren.”
You both turn around to head to your respective cabins, as Brendon stops walking and turns around, slowly walking backwards as he yells back to you “Plus… I think my sweatshirt looks pretty good on you.”

hiii first of all i love the way you write!!! love love love and i was thinking could you do something about eddie being a flower shop owner and richie a music store owner?? Like eddie is all flowery and soft and richie is A Punk but with the sweetest smile and their stores are in front of one another, they see eachother all the time but they don't know how to interact!!!! xx
first of all thank you so much ❤️
aND OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS
so eddie’s working at the cute floral store downtown where his cousin linda used to work at but now she moved to nyc and recommended eddie,,, her 19 year old cousin to the boss and voalá! eddie’s so cute and cuddly so immediately he got the job!!!!
and richie works at the music store opposite. his story of getting the job wasnt so ‘cute and cuddly’ see he got kicked out of his condo ,,, fired from kfc AND dumped by his girlfriend so he’s bunking at his buddy’s tommy’s place who works at the cd store and one day he was like hey! we’re actually looking for a new worker so r u interested and ofc richie was and yeah.
now as we’ve got the backgrounds covered,,,, one morning eddie comes to work with a takeaway cup of latte in his hand, he’s about to start opening the door when he hears some rattling and a loud “oh, fuck me!!!”
he turns his head towards the voice and sees a boy with out of control black curly hair,, he’s wearing a yellow colored flannel and a pair of ripped black jeans and slightly broken converse and he’s on the ground picking up some cd’s that eddie now figures have fallen down from the trolley
eddie has never seen him before so he’s curious
then the guy turns his head towards eddie too and eddie flusters because ho ho holy SHIT this guy is CUTE
“how do you do” the guy just nods and eddie rushes in to the floral store too shocked to interact with this cd guy
throughout the whole day eddie keeps on glancing outside from the windows of his store while he waters the plants or something,,, trying to see more of this guy and every time he does the boy just waves at him and eddie turns his gaze away IMMEDIATELY as he blushes
richie’s not doing so well on his first week he’s constantly dropping the cd’s or spilling coffee on the table or fucking up the cash system
this may all be partly due to the fact he can’t stop staring at the floral store boy
one day they come to work at the same time,, walking on the opposite sides of the street and glancing at each other, but neither one dares to say anything
richie can’t help but SWOON over the baby pink sweater this other boy is wearing and how it’s hanging all the way down to his knees and he just looks so cute and pure??? in his beige chinos and white sneakers
meanwhile he’s probably scared of richie in his studded leather jacket and chains on his jeans
one day eddie is watering the plants by the window again, gently biting on his lip as he looks at richie outside his cd store , a cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth as he’s putting some poster on the billboard outside
“what are you looking at??”
eddie flinches and turns his head to his co-worker kate that is holding a coffee mug in her hand and then she gasps
“oH MY GOD YOU’RE DROWNING THE PLANT EDDIE!!!”
eddie looks at the vase and gasps too, turning the watering can up again,, cursing quietly as kate just grabs the plant and goes to change the dirt or whatever and eddie turns his gaze back outside,, kind of upset to see richie went back inside his store :-(
on a snowy ,, dark thursday in december richie’s walking to the evening shift and turns his gaze to the floral store just like every other day but now he sees eddie smiling to the customer and talking something ,,, then listening to whatever the customer is saying with the FRIENDLIEST little smile and then chuckling and oh fuck richie’s in love? he’s so much in love that he doesn’t realize he’s already at the store and now someone opens the door and richie doesn’t notice and the door slams straight to his face and he lets out a grunt as he slips on ice and falls to his butt on the ground
the next day eddie’s counting the cash when he looks up and sees the cd store boy,, lightly limping as he walks to his store
kaspbrak is worried is he ok???
turns out richie’s hurt his tailbone and now he needs a week’s rest
“im totally FINE tommy!!” richie says as he grimaces on his way to the kitchen to get some coffee
“richie you look like a old man that’s shat his pants”
“im FINE!” richie says, trying to straighten his back but soon letting out an ow ow ow- as tommy rushes over to him and guides him towards the couch where richie lays down
“seriously. im gonna do your shifts this week. just rest and watch jurassic park”
RICHIE JUST WANTS TO SEE THE CUTE FLORAL STORE GUY SO BAD HE MIGHT JUST CRY
but the feeling’s mutual
after the first couple of days of being confused and sad with not seeing richie, eddie finds himself basically running to work every morning hoping that today’s the day he’s finally gonna see the trashmouth cursing and kicking the trolley that won’t move but he’s never there!!!
he’s getting worried
oh my god is he dead???? he was walking weirdly what if he’s dead???
eddie’s a little nervous at work and kate notices he’s glancing at the cd store literally EVERY other second
“looking for the cute record store guy huh?” kate just casually asks as she flips the page of the magazine she’s reading and eddie flusters as he turns his head to kate
“wHAt”
“just so you know he’s not gonna come in for the rest of the week”
“????what why????”
“he hurt his tailbone because he fell.”
“he fell???” eddie frowns
“yeah i know tommy who works at the store. he said richie was distracted looking at something and so he fell”
eddie’s heart does a little jump
“richie?” he asks ,, his voice kinda soft
“yep that’s his name,” kate says and sips on her coffee
eddie just feels this weird warmth go through him as a small smile takes over his lips when he thinks of richie
on monday richie’s so fucking READY to go to work he hasn’t seen eddie all week other than inside his brain
and eddie’s practically been the only thing in there
so monday morning,, richie’s walking to work (slightly still limping but definitely not that bad anymore), he wants to go usain bolt and SPRINT but his doctor told him to take it easy so he’s gonna do that but not because the doc said so,,, only because he doesn’t wanna stay home for another week or two and not see eddie again
so eddie’s opening the store door again when he hears the sound of snow scrunching on the other side of the street and turns around ,, nearly dropping his coffee takeaway when he sees richie
richie’s heart flusters as he sees eddie and he stops at the store, both of them just staring at each other
until eddie finally speaks
“…hi”
richie almost chokes on air is that his voice??? that’s the cutest voice ever????
“,,hey” richie speaks
“where were you” eddie asks immediately regretting because oh my gOD now he knows eddie’s noticed him being gone
richie feels kinda happy??? that this cute boy has acknowledged his absence
“i had an accident”
“an accident??” eddie asks even tho he knows about it already but he decides to ask still because he kinda wants to know what richie was looking at when he fell
richie thinks whether he should go for it or not but oh my gOd flower store guy looks so adorable in his pastel pink bomber jacket and grey big wool scarf and the coffee mug in his hand and ????
“well this is kinda funny but i was looking at this cute brunette opposite the street and got hit in the face by a door” richie shrugs “and then i fell”
eddie’s tummy does a backflip and he has to bite down to his lip to stop himself from smiling ear to ear
RECORD STORE GUY THINKS HE’S CUTE??????????
“really?” he asks
“yeah.” richie says “he’s really cute. do you happen to know his name?”
eddie giggles. LITERALLY giggles
“i think his name’s eddie” he says and richie smiles evER SO SOFTLY BECAUSE EDDIE????? CUTE
“so,, eddie,” richie clears his throat “what time do you get off work?”
“six”
“!!! so do i!!!“richie lets out a laugh “you got any plans???”
(no he totally doesn’t but he’s gonna call tommy to come cover the rest of his shift)
“yeah” eddie says and richie’s smile fades because the grey cloud of disappointment falls over his lanky frame now
“with this super ridiculously hot record store guy,, we’re going out for pizza”
and now richie could do a backflip
ridiculously super hot????!?!??
he’s smirking so wide his face might tear up soon
“really??? how hot is he again???”
eddie chuckles
“really hot.” he says
if somehow possible,, the smirk on richie’s face widens even MORE
until he lets out a kind of raspy laugh and glances down at the ground
eddie could pass out from the sound of his laugh
and then ,,, cool and confident AF richie’s like
“see you at six then, eddie spaghetti”
richie mentally slaps himself for saying that outloud because that ruined the whole confident hot bad boy thing he got going on
“eddie what???” eddie asks
“nOTHING SEE YA” richie says and rushes in
neither one of them can focus on their jobs fully that day bc they’re so excited about the date that night and they keep glancing at each other through the windows and smiling so widely at each other
richie forgets to take a customer as he’s just gazing at eddie
“uh hello???”
richie flinches back to the moment
“yES HI”
and the pizza date went great they had SUCH a fun time getting to know each other better,, laughing so much flirting so much
(richie totally guided a pizza piece to eddie’s mouth and then was like oops you got some cheese here and then softly brushed it away from the corner of eddie’s mouth with his thumb and looked at eddie’s lips for a little too long and oh GOD the tension™)
and they were just enjoying each other’s company so mUch that they then decided to ,,, well,,,
take it back to richie’s place
which isn’t actually richie’s place
it’s tommy’s
the date went a little too well if you ask him
bc he had to
…listen…
but oh well! reckless teenagers! what can you do!
so the next morning richie has a day off from work but eddie has the morning shift and OOPSIE he slept in and now it’s 11.25am and he wakes up from under richie’s arm and he doesn’t even realize/remember it at first but now he opens his eyes and sees the cute record store guy asleep without a shirt on next to him with his hair even messier than usual and he’s kinda snoring and he looks so PEACEFUL and eddie’s heart expands and he finds himself smiling at the sight
and then he looks at the clock and realizes he’s slept in
“fUCK”
he jumps up so fast he wakes up richie who just goes “??????”
“FUCK im late for work SHIT”
richie’s like wow this cute thing can curse
“i gotta go,” eddie then says
“call me?” richie asks with a pout and eddie wants to sob
“i’ve got a better idea” eddie says, pulling something out of his pocket that turns out to be a pack of bubblegum
“oh wow! silly me im forgetting my gums!! well i better come fetch them after work today!!”
richie has the biggest grin on his face
“bye” eddie says and leans down to kiss richie who kisses him back so passionately that eddie melts in to the kiss and almost just decides not to give a fuck and fall back to the bed
“ohHhhkay i really gotta go” he then breaths out and rushes out of the room before it’s too late
he sees richie’s roommate by the kitchen table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper
and then he looks up at eddie
“moooorning”
eddie gulps
“good morning” he says before storming out of the house
once he gets to the floral store there’s sO MANY PEOPLE because it’s december 22nd and it’s almost christmas and well the holiday season is always busy
“kate oh my god i am SO sorry-” eddie blurts out as he rushes in , straight behind the counter
kate doesn’t answer anything at first and eddie feels so bad and he immediately takes the next customer
once the store is a little calmed down ,, customers just walking around kate speaks
“have fun?”
eddie turns bright red as he looks at kate
“huh???”
“you’ve got…” kate nods towards his neck and eddies eyes widen as he grabs the tiny mirror from the table and looks at his neck that’s got a HUGE hickey
“oh my god!!” he blurts out and kate smirks wide
eddie has to wrap his scarf around his neck
but he kinda likes the hickey
and he smiles to himself at the thought of going back home to richie after work
he could actually get used to it
no. he could definitely get used to it
and he will because in a couple of months they decide to move in together and its the best god i love domestic!reddie
