They laid Gwaine down on the examiner’s bed and the doctor quickly went to wash his hands before putting gloves on. As he returned, he would not look Arthur in the eyes and instead focused on Gwaine with a laser like intensity and began his preliminary examination.

“How well can you see right now?”

Gwaine’s eyes were foggy and disoriented, staring up at the doctor with a look of bewildered confusion. “I don’t — quite believe — what I’m seeing.” Then the fool smiled a dopey grin and said, “Hello, handsome.”

The doctor laughed, peeling away the jacket and lifting up Gwaine’s shirt to get a better look. “Not too well, then. Hello yourself. Do you have a habit of running into the woods and getting infectious injuries?”

“Only when there are hot doctors around to treat me.”

Arthur coughed, loudly. “Weren’t you dying a couple minutes ago?”

Gwaine’s head swivelled offended to stare at him. “Am I dying? That explains the angel then.”

“Good lord,” Arthur grumbled. “Maybe just put him out of his misery.”
