"Katsuki please just give me some ideas what to get her" y/n pleaded as she rests her head in her hands. The list infront of her started back as she scratches out all her ideas so far on what to get her mother in law for her birthday. Jewellery? No she had so much, a holiday? Seems like a large present for your first year as her official daughter in law, home made jam?–

"She'd love anythin' if you gave it to 'er" Katsuki grumbles as he sips his coffee staring at y/n. They both knew he was right, y/n could give mitsuki a lump of dirt and She'd be so greatful you'd swear it was a lump of gold. But if katsuki gave it to her? He'd never hear the end of how thoughtless it was...

"What are you getting her? Surely you've ran out of ideas aswell?" Y/n rubs her face in defeat as she realises she only has 3 days to find a present. The clock is ticking, especially since you have to buy it, wrap it, and pray its good enough.

"Got her and the old man tickets to that candle lit concert in Tokyo, gotta meal for them aswell before the show" katsuki says as it's the most obvious thing ever... because everyone can afford to get expensive tickets to a private showing of the Tokyo orchestra at candlelight. Y/n huffs as she moves herself away from the table, frustrated as her plans were coming to a dead-end. Katsuki shrugs as suggests they can share the present as that wouldn't be a problem, but for y/n , she wanted her own present for her own mother in law.

"Back to the drawing board"

2 days to go

The dim lights of the lamp cascade over y/n as she tries to pull out another knott that's found its way into the ball of yarn.

"Stupid thing, why are the strings so thin–"

"Why are you still awake?" Katsuki emerges from the kitchen, peeping his head into the living room to find his wife tangled in balls of yarn, frustrated at the pattern in front of her. Who know making a blanket was so difficult?

"I can't figure the pattern out, why is knitting so hard katsu! Why do people do this to relax"

"Cuz old hags have all the time in the world to do that stuff, now get your ass to bed"

The small half-arsed square that was meant to be a blanket falls flat into y/ns lap as she realises this was another failed attempt at a present for mitsuki. The blanket would've had to of been perfect, can't give a seamstress a rag and pass it off as a blanket made out of love. What symbol would that give?

1 day to go

The perfect way to a person's heart is through their stomach, is that how the saying goes? Doesn't matter! Either way you found yourself 3 cakes deep into perfecting this stupid old recipe. katuki claims " the old hags loves "... but why is it so hard to master the recipe?

Many hours into baking whatever is in the oven, because there's no way you can even call the lumpy mess a 'cake'. Katsuki takes over as he cannot let anything to be made in his kitchen be considered inedible. You watched as katsuki whipped around the kitchen, making dinner and cleaning up the mess you made. What are you going to do now? The deadline is near, and you've nothing to bring to the dinner tomorrow for mitsuki?

Great way to impress your mother in law

"Listen, she won't care if you've nothin in your hands sweets, trust" Katsuki says to distract you from your storming thoughts.

"I just don't know what to do babe, I've tried so many ideas. I don't have to give up but what choice do I have–"

"Quit your ramblin and go wash up before dinner," katsuki cuts your rambles with instructions. He knows it's best to distract you if you're having working thoughts.

You make your way to the bathroom to wash up before dinner. Your head is still flooded with last minute ideas of presents to give mistuki.

"Where's all the soap gone? Why doesn't katsuki refill the container when it's empty? Typical" you say, reaching into the press to grab and refill the soap dispenser. You make a quick note of things you need to get in the shops before you go to dinner tomorrow as you're almost out of some essentials.

As you rummage through the bathroom cabinet, your fingers brush against a small, inconspicuous box tucked behind some toiletries. Curiosity piqued, you retrieved it, your heart quickening as you read the label. With a mixture of trepidation and hope, you take a gamble with this last chance of a home made present.

Birthday dinner

Mistuki has been filling yous in on her latest fashion looks she has been in the process of designing since last spring. Masaru has just set down the tea post dinner as you've all settled into the sitting room to unwind after that very tasty dinner katsuki scrubbed up. Who knew your man was so kind?

"Here's your present ma..." katsuki sheeply hands over his gift knowing his mother will make a deal out of the concert he has gotten her tickets for. You watch as mistuki stumbles over with glee as she hugs? Katsuki and thanks him. You haven't seem them hug since you had gotten married!

Masaru thanks katsuki for getting him a ticket also, placing the present aside waiting for the two blonds to settle down.

" it's something small, hope we can all share this special present" you hint towards the box you hand over to mitsuki. Katsuki looks at you knowingly you done fucked up the blanket and the cake, so what did you get her?

Mistuki opens the box to find a tiny baby blanket you had hand knitted from the rags you started with, paired with a tiny test signaling your little life growing within.

Mistuki stumbles over the test, clarifying with you that what she is reading really is coming true!

"YOUR PREGNANT?!"  She gleams as she jumps from her seat shuffling over to hug you. Katsuki looks at you with hope in his eyes, why hadn't you told him?!

"Yes , I hope this trumps katsuki present mistuki" you hug Mistuki back as masaru looks into the box reading the little note beside the blanket

"Cant wait to snuggle you in this blanket made out of love, sweat and tears,

Love, baby bakugo due 2X25"

Yep. You've finally outdone your husband in gift giving.

I highkey HC that if they happened to fight in the UA at this war arc and their mothers happened to see it, they would say the other wasn't at fault insted of blaming him. This comes from all the development their relationship had, alongside with the amount of "secrets" one "know" about the other (Bakugo knows Izuku push himself too much to be the best, so he isn't really kin to blame Izuku for anything. Izuku knows Bakugo has an inferiority complex and a messed up ego, and even if its a lot better now than on the beggining of the seires, it is still there, and he deffinetly won't be pulling any trigger).

Kacchan ugly? Impossible

I love the idea that everyone sees Bakugou as kinda ugly or at least off putting and Izuku is so confused like ??? Kacchan is literally the most beautiful man alive ??? Wdym?

So when Deku gets pregnant, everyone is secretly hoping that the Midoriya genes win out. But instead the baby comes out a complete and utter clone of Katsuki, with just the barest hint of freckles. And Deku is just SO. DAMN. HAPPY

Bakugo for his part just thought the brat looked like a screaming potato and doesn't really see a resemblance. Later on tho, if the baby's a girl, Katsukis lowkey pissed since she's gonna look like Mistuki when she gets older. He just knows the old hag is going to get a big head over it

Okay here's my thoughts so far:

Somehow, Izuku and Bakugo never had their falling out. Or if it did, it didn't last long.

Haven't decided on the reasons but here's some options:

The thing you mentioned of the villainous quirk, but honestly given what's seen as 'Heroic' or 'Villainous', I think probably not.

Their parents noticed the fallout and got them to talk and work it out before it got too far

Mistuki being a better parent and, when her son is getting toxic ideals from the adults at his school, sits him down and explains why that's a bad mindset and how to be good instead of trying to counter it by belittling him.

The fallout starts, but Izuku stands his ground better and proves them equal with or without a Quirk because like. Sure Bakugo has the advantage in a fight but they're both like 5 it doesn't take much. This is further reinforced by kids trying to bully Bakugo for having 'been beaten by a Quirkless kid', but both of them stand their ground and fight back. Kind of puts it into perspective.

Now like. They're staying friends. But they bullying from others doesn't go away. And it's..... Maybe I'm just stuck on ATLA but it's very Azula and Zuko but they're aware of it. Like, both are treated badly but Bakugo is more praised and told 'he'll get further if he doesn't let Izuku drag him down'. Bakugo can still get away with anything because he has potential, while Izuku catches hell from everyone.

And yeah they stick by each other but the classmates don't like it and the teachers see it as naïve innocence.

But they stick together and are like hell yeah we're gonna be Heroes together!

We do get the whole Sludge Villain thing in middle school and like. They handle it well for two middle schoolers but yeah All Might still pops up to save them.

Now. Izuku has more confidence in his potential to become a Hero, so he doesn't ask All Might anything other than general fanboy shit.

All Might's conversation with them is mostly encouraging as well. It's kind of generic but like a 'You two handled that well for a couple of kids! Hope you become great Heroes in the future!'. Even though he sees their potential and finds the 'rushing in to help a friend regardless of danger' thing to be a bit inspiring, he doesn't hear anything about Izuku being Quirkless so he doesn't consider him a potential successor and just kinda fucks off.

Our duo spends the rest of the time up to the entrance exams doing their usual training and sparring and the like.

The entrance exam is where shit goes sideways. Because as Izuku is Quirkless.... his application is rejected. This isn't a decision from the UA staff or anything it's just a default setting. (In Canon, All Might would have pulled strings to bypass this for Izuku. But here he met them once superficially so he doesn't)

Both boys are pissed as hell. To the point where Bakugo is very close to saying 'fuck this, we're going to figure out a different way to be Heroes together!'. And tbh maybe just blast into the school and scream at someone just to feel better about it in the first place.

Izuku has a different idea. Because Bakugo still can get into UA. So he's like 'How about you get in, learn what they teach, and then teach me in your spare time?'

Which. Is exactly what they do. Izuku manages to get into a decent 'normal' high school while Bakugo ends up at UA. And they still see each other all the time and just. Bakugo shares his Hero-related Homework with Izuku and all the tricks from the actual combat training.

Which does work for a bit! Though..... soon they find themselves deciding to work on combat in a more cityscape area instead of just the empty field they found. Parkouring around while sparring with each other is perfectly legal!

Until. Ya know. They run into a crime in progress. And both are ready to jump in except 'oh yeah that's technically vigilantism and Bakugo could get expelled'. But Izuku is just like "Well I can't get expelled from a school I don't go to! Plus it's not vigilantism if you don't use a Quirk!'.

And it kinda devolves from there. Both go to school. Work on stuff together, spar and learn together. But when Izuku isn't with Bakugo, he just gets deeper and deeper into being the vigilante.

Bakugo is a little concerned but Izuku is like 'Hey, if they're not going to let me be a Hero the legal way, I'm going to do it my way. Plus, again. Not vigilantism if I don't have a Quirk!'

Both are kind of making names for each other. Bakugo as one of the most promising first year students at UA, and Izuku as a terrifying but efficient vigilante who knows way too much on how to avoid the Heroes(because he knows exactly what kind of moves they would make thanks to Bakugo helping him).

Now. This goes fine until we get to the whole kidnapping thing.

/technically/ it starts at the end of the Sports Festival.

Because yeah, Bakugo is one of the most promising students. Though ofc he's still loud and grumpy and kinda violent. But that's fine until the sports festival.

He doesn't take well to learning that Todoroki has two Quirks but refuses to use one. He's pissed in fact. Because his best friend got rejected from his dreams for being Quirkless and is doing dangerous shit out of a want to help people, and here's this asshole blessed with two Quirks but refusing to use both of them??? Hell no!

Like. Ofc it's more complicated later and Shoto explains/traumadumps after the fact and Bakugo apologizes for it. But in the moment he goes overboard.

Which leads to the award ceremony being like in Canon. Which gets the LoV interested. And then leads to the kidnapping later.

Now. Ofc Izuku isn't gonna sit by and let his best friend be goddamn kidnapped. Especially having already gone full vigilante.

So he manages to track Bakugo down and while they are still very in over their head, they get pretty far before the actual rescue party (and like. Half of the classmates also having the same idea as Izuku) rush in to save them.

Now. At first it's fine. Because they're like 'okay dumb kid went to rescue his friend'. Then the adults slowly realize that Izuku kinda.... knows a bit to much about too many things.

And connect the dots that the 'dangerous vigilante' is actually a kid.

Cue the other tropes I see of the adults dragging him to UA, Quirkless status be damned because the kid clearly has potential and spirit and enough stubbornness to keep going so let's try to not get him killed???
