When Alaric cut off his head, it didn't just kill Kai Parker, but also sent his consciousness or spirit, or whatever to another universe. One where superheroes like Superman and Supergirl were real. That's when Kai discovered... Him. The young man named Y/N, who apparently thought he was someone else by the name of Mon-El. Kai had originally wanted to create chaos and mischief on this earth, but once he saw Y/N, he figured he could play the amnesiac ex-boyfriend of Y/N. Kai cast a spell in order to see all of Y/N's memories of this alien doppelganger of his, even went as far as using a duplication spell to replicate his alien powers. Y/N and the others were none the wiser as Kai settled into his new life as the former alien prince of Daxam.

Unfriendly Competition
Tumblr media
Title: Unfriendly Competition Pairing: Kara Danvers x Reader Summary: Y/n's arrival on Earth is ruined by Mon-El and Kara's blooming relationship. R WC: 1492
Kara's heart was racing as she stared down at the lifeless body laid out on the medical table. The years had changed her, but Kara was certain that she was looking at her old friend Y/n. Memories of their time spent on Krypton together playing flooded Kara's mind. She wiped away a few stray tears as she heard footsteps coming down the hallway. Kara stood up a little straighter as she felt Alex step in behind her, just close enough to wrap her arm around the back of Kara's shoulders.
"Did you know her?" Alex asked. Kara nodded as she sighed and pulled herself away from watching Y/n. "It looks like she'll make a good recovery."
"Y/n has always been a fighter, but I don't even know what happened to her," Kara whispered. She was terrified of watching one of the last Kryptonians die off right in front of her. There wouldn't be anything for her to do if Y/n didn't pull through. That set in a deep fear in Kara for the weeks until Y/n had finally woken up. Even after that, Y/n was impossibly small and weak. There was Kryptonite poisoning evident in her blood that even the DEO doctors were having a hard time getting out of her. Months and months of that resulted in Y/n being physically weaker than she should have been, not quite as weak as humans, but nowhere near as strong as Kara or her cousin were.
"You know, I've been here for years, but I never really got to see the world," Y/n said as she flew around National City with Kara. Y/n stared at Kara like she had placed all of the stars and planets in space herself, but Kara didn't seem to notice. Occasionally, Y/n swore that she caught Kara looking at her the same way, but it was only for a half second at a time. It was hard having all of those feelings from her youth resurface, but instead of being dealt with, Y/n once again had to let them sit and fester.
"A few more weeks of training like this and I'm sure that you'll be flying anywhere you want," Kara said. Y/n didn't feel like she was making many, if any, improvements with her strength and powers, but Kara insisted that wasn't true. It was almost perfect being around Kara again, but as with everything in Y/n's life, there had to be one giant catch. "Maybe you and Mon-El can train together, I'm sure it would be very good for the both of you."
"Maybe." Y/n didn't want to brush Kara off like that, but she really didn't want to spend a moment more with Mon-El than she had to. The man obviously wasn't a Kryptonian like them, but Kara couldn't see past the idea that they could start a whole new line of Kryptonians. Y/n didn't want to be uppity about him, but she was almost certain that he was a Daxamite. She had spent quite a bit of time on Daxam with her parents in an attempt to broker peace before Krypton was destroyed.
Their flying lesson was cut a bit short when Kara had to go answer a call to action. Y/n opted not to come along with her, feigning weakness instead. She went back to the DEO, where they had been keeping her in a holding cell for the time being. It was really starting to become her own space, and it was a nice place for her to get away from Kara and Mon-El sometimes. Kara had been upset whenever Y/n told her that she wouldn't be moving into Kara's apartment with her, but Y/n thought it was best to be alone than to be subjected to watching the woman she loved falling further in love with some guy.
"It's a bit more believable that you're tired when you don't spend your time resting in the combat simulator," Alex said from behind Y/n. Y/n jumped and turned around to face Alex, who was giving her a sympathetic look. "How was the flying today?"
"Great until she suggested that I train with her boyfriend to build my strength," Y/n muttered, somewhat angrily. Alex sighed as she pushed herself up from the wall and approach Y/n. Alex had been dealing with Y/n's moodiness from Mon-El and Kara's relationship as well as Kara's sadness from the sudden absence of her best friend. There were a lot of parts to the situation that Alex really didn't have the time or patience to handle, but she was trying.
"I'm not saying that you should get to know him because I don't really like him, but for Kara's sake, give him a chance. She misses you. She thinks that she's done something horribly wrong," Alex sighed. Y/n pinched the bridge of her nose. The last thing she wanted was for Kara to think them not hanging out was directly her fault, even if it was. Alex smirked as she took Y/n's obvious frustration as a sign of defeat. She wasn't sure how well things would go, but all Alex could ask for was that Y/n spent a bit more time around Kara, with or without Mon-El.
Hanging out with Kara and Mon-El was just as painful as Y/n had expected it to be. Both of them were very much locked in their own world with each other, a world that Y/n didn't feel she had any place in. Alex had tagged along with them and it was hard for her to watch as Mon-El demanded Kara's attention. Y/n sort of sat back and shrank into herself as she downed some of the otherworldly alcohol at the bar. Alex kept an eye on her, and waited until Y/n stumbled away to play pool with some other aliens to finally talk to Kara.
"Come with me," Alex said as she grabbed Kara's wrist. Kara quickly excused herself as she let Alex drag her away from the table and to a more secluded part of the bar by the bathrooms. "What is your issue?"
"I could ask you the same thing," Kara huffed. "But why don't you tell me what my issue is?"
"How the hell can you stay with that loud, obnoxious asshole at the table when you've got the sweetest girl staring at you like you're her entire world? I get that you can be kind of oblivious sometimes Kara, but Jesus Christ, Y/n has been suffering this whole night because she didn't want you to think that she doesn't want to be around you anymore," Alex said. Kara made a face as she looked over at Y/n. It was the first time in a while that she had really gotten a good look at her friend, and admittedly, Y/n did look much more sad than usual. "She's been through hell and back, don't put her through it again."
"I don't mean to. I-it wouldn't be right to just leave him like this," Kara said. Alex could tell that she was conflicted.
"Do what you want, but don't ruin what could be the best thing for you," Alex warned. Kara nodded and went back at the table to think things over. It was a no-brainer, but Kara was still hesitant to do what she knew she had to. Alex watched Kara from the pool table where she was keeping Y/n company. Every so often, Y/n would sneak a glance over at Kara, but Kara was so deep in thought that she didn't even notice it. Eventually, Y/n let herself get fully involved in the pool game, to the point where she didn't notice Kara striding right up to her in an almost confrontational way.
"Y/n, we need to talk," Kara said confidently. It sounded almost like a child trying to be intimidating, but Y/n listened to her anyway. "I'm sorry for not paying enough attention to you. I got ahead of myself and lost sight of what was really important to me. Please forgive me."
"You could have dropped me off of the Empire State Building and I would have forgiven you before I hit the ground," Y/n joked. Kara sighed in relief as she threw herself into Y/n's arms in a hug. Y/n thought it was going to end there, but Kara pressed a quick kiss to the corner of her mouth as she pulled back. "What about Mon-El?"
"Like I said, someone reminded me of who is really important to me. I don't know what I'd do without you in my life, but I never really knew that man," Kara said. Y/n smiled as she leaned into Kara's arms again, finally able to rest there safely.

“El door!” Hopper yelled out as noticed the door to his youngests room closed shut. With a boy in there.
“Why?” El questioned as she opened the door and stuck her head out.
“Why?!” Hopper asked with raised brows.
El nodded “yes”
“Because I said.” Hopper answered, looking her in the eyes.
“But why? Y/n gets to keep her’s shut.” El wondered out loud with squinted eyes.
“What?” Now Hopper was confused.
“Y/n gets to keep her door shut.” El looked Hopper in the eyes, upset with his ‘door open’ rule.
“Well, Y/n doesn’t have a boy over or a boyfriend.” Hopper told her still a little dumbfounded at this conversation.
“Say you.” El mumbled but apparently not low enough.
“Excuse me?” Hopper spoke, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Nothing.” El tried to cover up but Hopper wasn’t going to let it go, turning to go back into her room.
“El.” Hopper said using his deep angry voice, getting the young girl to turn around again to look at him.
El sighed wishing she said nothing to begin with. “She does.”
“She does what?” Hopper questioned his body tensing.
“Y/n, has a boyfriend.” El stated looking down at her feet. Not wanting to see Hopper’s face.
“Since when?” Hopper questioned but when El gave no answer he tired again. More stern this time. “El, since when?”
“8 months I think.” El said reluctantly, looking anywhere but at Hopper.
“8 mon-” Hopper couldn’t even believe this. How could he not have known this? How did he not notice anything? God sometimes he really thought Y/n should become a detective, she’d definitely be good at the undercover work.
“Please don’t tell her I said anything.” El pleaded before she went back into her room to continue hanging out with Mike.
All Hopper could do was nod numbly. He was going to have a talk with his oldest daughter when she got home.
^     ^     ^
“Y/n.” Hopper spoke as Y/n entered the cabin like normal.
“Hmmm?” Y/n hummed in acknowledgment that she was listening.
“We need to talk.” He stated from his spot on the couch. With a simmering expression, holding in his anger. Which isn’t exactly directed at his daughter.
“What about?” Y/n asked as she came around to sit on the couch alongside him.
“I heard through the grapevine that you have a boyfriend.” Hopper stated taking a sip of his beer before he continued and trained his eyes on his daughter. Watching her behavior. “That you’ve been together for almost a year. How come you never said anything?”
Y/n looked down to her lap, she had been caught and didn’t know what to say exactly. “I was nervous too.”
“To tell me?” Now he felt a little bad. “Why? You can tell me anything, you should know that.”
“Dad, you can be very protective, and intimidating…” It was going to go bad at this next part if it led to what she thought it would. “And I know that you don’t particularly like who he is.”
“I’m your dad, of course I’m going to be protective over you. Just like I'm with El. As for intimidating, that's my job as your father.” Hopper stated, he had to keep explaining his job as a father a lot recently to his girls. But now he really also wanted to know the bigger question. Who was the guy? “Now who is this boy that I apparently don’t like?”
Y/ shifted her eyes away from her father as she mumbled the name. “Billy.”
“Hargrove?!” Hopper screamed with bulging eyes and he stood up in shock, hoping he heard wrong.
“Yeah.” She confirmed, shrinking in on herself. But Hopper couldn’t even yell in that moment he was speechless.
“You don’t know him.” Y/n stated and Hopper just sent her a look. He’s met the kid and he doesn’t like his attitude. Y/n shook her head at his look knowing what he was thinking. “Not really. He acts like a completely different person at school and around town then he is with me.”
Hopper looked at his daughter for a moment. Really looked at her and he could tell this was important to her so he sighed, turning to face her seated form. “I wanna meet him.”
“What?” Now she was confused.
“I want to meet him. Bring him over for dinner tonight-”
“He can’t tonight, but he is available tomorrow.” Y/n spoke efficiently, cutting him off. She knew how Niel was, there was no way Billy could come on such short notice tonight.
“Fine. Tomorrow.” Hopper agreed.
“Okay.” Y/n nodded relieved and she got up off the couch and headed to her room.
“Oh.” Hopper spoke up before she could shut the door to her room. Turning to look at her dad waiting for him to continue, hoping that she wasn’t in more trouble. “Your door stay’s cracked from now on.”
Y/mn nodded letting out a breath of air, hoping to not be in even more trouble. But now she was going to tell Billy.
^     ^     ^
“He wants to meet me?” Billy looked very anxious since Y/n explained what had happened last night. But could you blame him? He’s had run-ins with Sheriff Hopper and they weren’t the friendly kind.
“Don’t look so afraid, Billy. It’s normal, he found out about you and he's gonna want to meet you.” Y/n said with a smile on her lips, slightly amused at his behavior. He just kept pacing with wide eyes.
Billy nodded at her words. “Ok. I got this.”
“Yes, you do.” Y/n nodded in encouragement. Meeting the parents was something Billy didn’t do, but he was willing to do it for Y/n. She got up off his bed and cupped his cheeks. “I believe in you.”
“Is he pissed?” he asked, looking into her eyes trying to get a read on his answer.
“No, not really. I was told that the door has to at least be cracked from now on. But otherwise he seems to be giving you a chance. That's good odds.” She told him with a cheerful look in her eyes and on her face. Y/n was optimistic, and Billy hoped she was right.
“Yeah, I guess.” Billy sighed, he needed to prepare himself for tonight.
“I know.” Y/n smirked, biting her lip as she looked up at him through her lashes.
“Haha” Billy mock laughed before pulling her into a very heated kiss.
^     ^     ^
“Are you nervous Billy?” Y/n asked watching him drive them to the Hopper residence. He was bouncing his leg and tapping his fingers.
“Yes.” Billy stated flat out glancing for a second away from the road to Y/n. His face said it all with a look of pure honesty and fear.
Y/n looked at him in shock, trying to hide her amusement at his confession. “I didn’t expect you to admit it.”
Billy shrugged one shoulder looking back to the road. “Well, I am. That tell you something?”
Y/n reached over to grab his free hand in hers, hoping to provide him with some reassurance. “Calm down. It’ll be okay. I’ll be by your side the whole time. I promise.”
Once they pulled up, as they got out of the camaro El came running out of the house and hugged Y/n.
“Hey, El.” Y/n greeted, hugging the younger girl back.
“I’m sorry.” she mumbled feeling bad that she outed the girl that took her in as a little sister.
“Its all okay, really. I’m not mad, El.” Y/n stated trying to reassure her that she wasn’t mad. Y/n pulled out of the hug making El look her in the eyes so she would know how serious she was.
El nodded a little in relief and a little just to show she understood. Then she shifted her attention to Billy. Hopping he couldn’t be pissed that she outed his relationship with Y/n.
Billy shook his head coming to stand next to them. “I’m not either.”
“Stop standing there and come in and eat.” Hopper yelled as she stood in the open doorway with a hard expression on his face.
With that the 3 headed inside and sat down to eat. Conversation consisted of small talk mostly at first but there was a reason this dinner was taking place. They should get to it.
“How’s Max?” El asked halfway through their meal, wondering about her friend.
“She’s good.” Billy said before taking a sip of his soda.
“So Billy.” Hopper spoke up, putting his fork and knife down.
Billy gulped. “Yes, Sir.”
“What are your intentions with my daughter?” Hopper asked, cutting to the chase.
“Dad-”
“No, its ok. He’s gonna ask at some point right?” Billy stopped her, like she said earlier. These things needed to be done and said. “My intentions are mainly pure with Y/n.”
“Mainly?” Hopper practically growled out, looking at the mullet haired boy with narrowed eyes.
“Well, we do makeout and. . . cuddle.” Billy choked out the last part while Y/n and El snickered. Yeah they cuddle, amongst other things.
“Nothing else?” Hopper ticked his jaw ready to wring the boys’ neck.
“Not really Sir.” Billy shook his head with a smile on his lips, taking a bite of his steak.
“Not really? What's 'not really’ supposed to mean?” Hopper leaned forward placing his forearms on the table, staring Billy in the eyes. He should tread carefully with the look he was giving Billy.
“Well the other things are all of and when y/n wants.” Billy stated looking Hopper in the eyes. He was being brave, Y/n thought. Stupidly brave.
“Hmmm.” Hopper hummed before he continued to eat. At least he seemed to respect his daughter.

Bar Shots
kai parker x reader
summary: your newest coworker takes his staring problem further up a notch
tags: bar / bartender!kai, public masturbation, inappropriate workplace behavior
word count: 1.3k
a/n: idk why i wrote this, i'm so sorry. also, this is the fic where i was gonna use a mon-el gif, but i gave up on that 😅
Tumblr media
Your co-worker is always staring at you. Every time you look at him, he looks away, but you can feel his gaze on you whenever your head is turned. Other workers, too, have mentioned it. They’ve reported him walking into walls or dropping glasses because his attention is on you instead of his chores. The manager has a close eye on him, but there’s nothing he can really do aside from asking him to stop. Kai, of course, hasn’t stopped.
It doesn’t bother you, though. Matt assumes it’s because you have a high patience. You’re well trained in crass behavior and stupidity, so the young witch’s staring is just another nuisance. Matt had laughed in admiration when you only shrugged after he told you about his talk with the boy. Your defiant attitude to this behavior is why he has you train the newbies. No matter what shit they pull, you’re never fazed.
However as you’ll soon find out, Kai is a whole new category of bold. All the boys stare, some pull pranks, others make a suggestive joke every two minutes, and a few have spanked your ass as they’ve passed. But none have ever gone as far as the newest member of your team has on his second week in training. For the first time in four years, you’re actually stunned.
In theory, it’s so bad you should report it. One report, and he would be fired immediately. No second chances, no time to explain, he would be out. And if it were anyone else, you would have. Not because he’s a sociopath; not because he’s a witch, but just because he’s so dang cute, and for some reason, you kind of like him.
It’s just the two of you on shift that night. The restaurant closed hours ago, but the bar had just emptied in the last ten minutes. It’s Kai’s third day of working past closing, where you are showing him how to clean up the bar after the customers have left. He’s been learning quickly, and knows enough that you feel comfortable leaving him up front while you work in the kitchen. There’s a little window where you can keep an eye on him, where dishes are put to be taken out to tables. Though, it seems, Kai uses it to keep an eye on you, too.
One minute, he’s diligently cleaning. You have no idea what happened between that minute and the next, but the second time you poke your head up, your eyes go wide. The shot glass he has been rinsing sits abandoned on the counter. Water droplets top the rim, but his hands aren’t reaching for the paper towels. Instead, they are around his cock. As soon as you realize what you were seeing, you drop to the counter, hiding your face. Your body burns with embarrassment as you debate what to say to put an end to whatever he’s doing.
But before you can, a soft moan escaped the lips of the boy only a few feet away. The sound of him spitting reaches your ears, followed quickly by a visceral wet noise as he runs his hands along his length. His hips jut up against the counter, and you can hear the wood reverberating as he rocks his body against it. Light moans become more heavy. Then, your name spills from his lips.
Your blood runs cold. A chill goes throughout your body at the same time a lightheadedness clouds your mind. As asinine as his behavior is in that moment, your body tingles with a sense of pleasure. Your head forms a picture of him, though it begs for you to get a glimpse for yourself.
Biting your tongue, you slowly stand back up until you are eye level with the open window. Seeing the real thing is so much better than the image in your head. He’s rock hard and red, pushing the head of his cock into the counter. The way he stands gives you a small view of his ass, which is as plump as you expect it would be by the tight jeans he wears. Of course, you’ve looked him up and down before, but you have never sexualized the man until this moment.
“Fuck,” he whines between his teeth, “Y/N.”
You involuntarily flick your tongue up in your mouth. The urge to interrupt him is strong. To go out there and help. To taste him; to squeeze and pinch and slap his cheeks. You refrain, remembering just how unprofessional this entire thing is.
“Hey-” You try to stop him, but the words dry up in your throat. Your clit begs to be touched, though you ignore it.
Kai doesn’t seem to have heard even your attempts at speaking. He’s completely focused on his feat, not slowing down for a second. You watch him, unable to tear your eyes away, as he brings himself closer to finishing. You can tell by the way his movements get sloppy and sweat beads at his forehead. He’s moaning louder now, too. A guttural sound that’s impossible to ignore.
In the next minute, he comes. It shoots onto the countertop and his whole body relaxes at once. His cheeks still, no longer jiggling from the friction, and his eyes roll back in his head. You duck, not wanting him to catch you watching.
Kai seems to start cleaning himself up after a couple of minutes. You can hear him tinkering around the bar, though you’re not brave enough to look up yet. In that time, though, you have a second realization with yourself about how inappropriate that was. How you’ll surely be fired for letting it happen. How it’s probably on the cameras, and you’ll both be fucked if someone’s watching - not literally.
So, with a deep breath, you put on your best authoritative face and straighten your clothes. You pick up a bar rag just for character, and then walk into the main area.
“How are you doing in here?” You maintain your composure upon seeing his pink-ish face. Luckily, he’s all cleaned up. His pants are back on, and the cum is no longer dirtying the counter.
“Good. I made you a shot.”
“Kai, we’re working. This is not the time for shots.”
“It’s closing hours. Live a little.”
“There’s a camera right there. We could both get fired.”
His face pales, but he recovers quickly. “It was a long day. One shot won’t hurt.”
“Fine. But you’re explaining it to Matt if he asks.”
“Okay.” He hands you the shot glass he had cleaned a while back.
“What is it?”
“Blow job shot, the one with the coffee and stuff in it.”
“That’s suggestive, considering how co-workers have reported you on several occasions because of the way you stare at me.”
“Oh come on, Y/N. It’s late, I thought you’d enjoy the coffee and alcohol mix. The first thing you do on shift is pour yourself a cup of coffee.”
You give him a ‘why do you know that’ look, to which he just shrugs. Your attention then falls to the shot in his hand. The whipped cream looks a little sad, and you suddenly think you know where his shot of cum mysteriously went.
“Alright,” you sigh, taking it from his hands. He watches you shoot it back, eyes on your throat for proof of a swallow.
“Did I do it right?” The bartender in training asks.
You set the glass on the counter, then nod. “Mostly right. It was a little salty, but the coffee and alcohol portions were correct.”
“Oh. Wait, so how do I fix that?”
“Maybe use whipped cream,” you look him in the eye, “instead of cum, when you serve it to customers.”
Kai’s eyes go wide as he realizes you know. You take advantage of his stunned silence to slip past him, smacking him on the ass as you go, and disappear to another part of the bar. The smirk on your face stays for the rest of the night.

When Was It Over?
Supergirl. Kara Danvers x Reader!
Word Count: 2121.
Notes: not a happy ending, sorry.
Kara Danvers has known the sting of a heartbreak on many occasions.
Kenny was her high school sweetheart and he has literally died. Mon-El had to leave the Present or he would die as well. William also died, granted they weren’t together together, but she can't even imagine what would have happened if they were.
Now as she watches you leaving her apartment, she can feel her heart being torn apart and she knows she will not get over it. She will never be able to recover. Kara Danvers will never be the same after this heartbreak.
But not like she wasn't her true self when Mon-El left. How she was a blubbering mess, crying and rolling on her bed to find it empty and how her heart was somehow emptier. Kara really thought that was the worst thing she would feel in her life. Forget about kryptonite, that heartbreak was one for the books. Life was so good, almost perfect and then faith or whatever it was just snatched from her and she was alone.
And yet, this heartbreak feels worse of all. Feels like Kara's ground just got pulled under her feet and she feels like Alice, falling, slumping, downward into the rabbit hole. And while she spins out of control, no breath left in her lungs, no words out of her mouth, no heart doing its job, she sees your eyes.
Kara will never laugh again. Not in the same way, anyway. Your jokes were the best. Tailored to her sense of humor. One that most people didn't even get. And she knew you did it on purpose, to get a laugh out of her. When she laughed your face would light up and her heart would swallow on her chest.
She doesn't know what to say. Doesn't know how to describe it. Right now you're leaving with a piece of her, her favorite one, and so she is hollow and lonely, so terribly broken she doesn't know where to even start.
Because you are not leaving her life unwanted. You're making this decision and she doesn't know if this searing pain will ever cease to burn her heart and the pit of her stomach, and if this wound will ever truly heal.
"Don't go." She thinks she begs out of her mouth. Tasting salt out of her tears, and the bitter tang of your leaving. A sharp pain on her heart like it's going to give out soon.
But you keep going. No words uttered out loud. No sound. No noise, except your hand on the handle, and your feet on the floor.
"Please." Kara is sure her voice came out this time, so loud in the deafening silence, it almost startled her.
"You know," You don't turn around. Can't, or you might not ever leave. Heart squeezed so tight, you wonder how it is that the words are leaving your mouth in the first place. "I really thought it was you."
Kara would never have to ask what. She was everything. And yet she almost hears the word leaving her mouth. She holds it back, having a million other questions fighting on her brain, but she knows she won't get the answer to them all, so she needs the perfect one. The question that will make you stay. The question that might bring her peace.
"When was it over?"
To that question you can't help but stop and turn around. Breathe caught on your lungs.
"I –" You blink, thinking about the answer. You don't know, which is weird. How can you not know when this was over? How can you not know why you're leaving the life of the person you were so sure you were going to spend the rest of your life with?
The question grows inside you. Turned into a moment filled with tension, heaviness, and yet it almost feels sacred. There's no air left between you and Kara anymore. Nothing but a suffocating and deafening silence.
She is the first one to speak again. "Was it that night you didn't care where I've been?"
Kara slipped in, late at night. You're almost asleep, but you still noticed her. She didn't look like she was in any Supergirl emergency. She stunk of beer. She wasn't drunk, though. You know it would take almost all the beer in the word for Kara to be drunk, but still she was being louder than she usually is.
Her cold hand glided through your stomach and you flinched, escaping her touch. "Go to sleep. You stink of alcohol." You moved farther away from her.
"Aren't you going to ask me where I was?" She sounded offended.
"I don't care."
"What?" You finally turned around to look at her. Kara had her brows furrowed, crinkle in the middle of her forehead, confusion crossing her face as if you just said something crazy.
"I'm trying to sleep." You explained, but she huffed, annoyed.
"Don't let me get in the way of that." Kara stood up, and she was quick to fly away from the same window she flew in.
You blink your memories of that night away. That wasn't it, but it surely didn't help.
"No. No, it wasn't that night."
Kara's eyes are full of tears, looking around, trying to remember more things. Trying to find out when this was done.
"Was it when I met your friends and acted indifferent?"
"Why are you mad? I – I had to go. I'm sorry I didn't stay there and chat with your college friends. Honestly, I had more important things to do!"
"Oh, I'm sorry my friends are not secret agents trying to save the world! But they are important to me, and it was important for me that you'd meet them."
Kara breathed out. "I did! I met the cheery lady and her sad-looking husband. I heard them talking about their new baby, but I had to save people from a car crash."
"It's not about leaving! It's about acting like you're above them."
"I didn't do that." You snorted at her lie. "Just because I said her husband couldn't be the smartest man on Earth? I have a friend who's literally a 12th-level-intellect! That man only knew how to talk about stocks! And he was so boring."
You blinked at her, tired, exhausted from this fight. "Yeah."
"Wait, you're agreeing with me? You also think he is boring?"
"No Kara. I'm just too tired to fight. Too tired for this."
She wouldn't see it. Kara thinks her friends are much better than yours. And they might be, anyways. You love her friends, but hey, your friends aren't so bad.
"Fine. You're too tired. I should go then."
You breathed out. "Yeah."
"I'm sorry." She finally says, a whole two months later. "Sad-looking-husband and overcompensating-cheery-lady are fine!"
"You didn't even bother learning their names!" You yell, but something brings you back to it. This isn't it. This is not the reason why you're leaving Kara, so it won't do you any good getting mad about it right now. "Whatever. It doesn't matter anymore. You will never have to see my horrible friends again. You should be thrilled about that."
"I'm not. I'm not thrilled about any of this, but I need to know. If your friends aren't the reason why you're leaving me, then what is?"
"Why does it matter? It's not going to change my mind. You saying sorry months later won't change my mind!"
"I need to know when it was over! When was I dancing with the ghost of you?"
You blink. The question hits you hard. When did you become a ghost in this relationship?
"Was it that time Mon-El came from the future?"
Oh yeah, here's Mon-El making his appearance right on time. Right when she mentions ghosts. Of course he would come back to haunt you guys again.
"Was that after or before you met the president, you fibber?"
"I'm not lying!" Kara defended herself, after a burst of laughter. She looked around the park and dropped her voice. "You're just jealous you've never been to Mars."
"You're right. Sounds like you had the time of your life fighting White Martians. I so wish I was there." You joked and she pulled you by your waist, a smile dangling on her face. Faces so close you knew what was coming next.
"Kara?" You heard a man's voice and both of you looked in the direction of it. Wait, you know this dude. Kara's hands left your waist, the distance grew huge. It was a matter of seconds, but you could cut the tension between them with a knife.
"Mon-El!" She exclaimed in total shock. "Rao, you're back from the future."
Mon-El. Her ex. That's where you knew him from.They exchanged amenities. You were not introduced, talked to, or acknowledged even once.
"So I'll see you back at the Tower?" He asked and she agreed vividly.
"I'm right behind you." And she was, indeed, almost flying away behind him when you cleared your throat and she noticed you. "Oh!" Kara looked back at you like she's never seen you before. "Would you like a ride home?"
"A what?" You asked in shock. No. Not possible. She wouldn't.
"Well, he is here from –" She whispered. "the future. It has to be important. I have to go see what's going on."
You stared at her in disbelief. She wasn't joking. Nope. Your girlfriend of a very long time that was on a date in the park with you, was going to run off to her ex-boyfriend the second he showed up.
"So," Kara insisted, when you didn't talk for a while. "Ride or –?"
"I'll walk home."
"Oh, cool. See you tonight then."
And then she left.
"I don't know, Kara. I can't just pinpoint it to one moment."
"When was it over for you, Y/N?" Her voice comes out full of anger, so loud it's almost a yell. "When was the moment you knew you'd walk out eventually?"
"I don't know!" You answer in the same tone, with the same anger.
"You're leaving! Gosh Y/N, you're leaving –" Her voice breaks, and it comes in a whisper so easy to hear, the gnawing pain in your heart gets stronger. "me."
"You know it's over. Don't do this now, Kara. We've been growing apart for so long, you'd have to be absolutely out of yourself not to have noticed."
"So you don't even wanna try? Don't wanna talk about it? Won't figure it out?"
"Kara."
She comes closer. One single bold stride towards you, closing the huge distance in half. "What would it take for you to stay?"
And that's when it hits you. You know exactly when it was over for you, and weirdly that brings a smile to your face because it feels good to finally understand why you and Kara Danvers will never work out.
"I needed you to stay." Kara furrows her brows, cleans her tears on her sleeve. "That's when it was over. It was over a little every time I needed you to stay, but you left."
"But –"
"And you kept leaving me, didn't you? Huh."
You think back at all the moments she brought up as a reason to why it could've ended and you realize they all have one thing in common. Kara leaving.
Supergirl, ex-boyfriends, imminent fights, work emergencies, and the list goes on. All of it was always more important or sometimes not important enough. No, she won't stay and have a fight with you, you're not important enough. No, she won't finish that date because Alex called, CatCo called, her stupid ex-boyfriend called. You'll walk home alone and you'll finish that dinner by yourself, you'll wake up to an empty bed and you'll get the dial tone.
You'll think about jumping from really tall somethings, just so you can be an emergency so you'll get her to stay.
"You know, when you said forever, I almost bought it. But the truth is, you were my forever and I was your in-betweens. And I deserve more than that." You breathe out. Finally. You can finally feel the air back in your lungs, in the atmosphere, right in the middle of the distance between the two of you.
"What now?" Comes in a heart-breaking whisper. Kara drops on her knees, face soaked with tears, clear ache in her heart. You're feeling free, but you can tell she isn't feeling the same, and you know it might take her a long while to feel the same.
"Now?" You look back at the door, hand on the handle one more time, ready to go. "Now I'll be the one doing the leaving. And this is what our forever will be like."
And so you're gone.

A Monstrous Introduction - Legion Of Superheroes
Chimera!Male Reader X Kara Danvers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A inhuman roar is heard throughout the campus as Mon-El hears it, so does Supergirl and Superman as they were both confused on what can make that sound, but Mon-El knew who.
Mon-El: Uh oh, he knows. He must’ve seen you arrive as he’s closing in right now.
Supergirl: Who’s he?
Mon-El: He? Oh, I think you’re about to meet the strongest student here, and the most fearsome.
The trio suddenly hear something big land behind them as they slowly turn to see to Supergirl’s shock, a giant silver robotic gorilla as blades come out of his arms, ready for a fight.
Tumblr media
????: Who are you, Kryptonian. Speak now, or I’m gonna be the Maximal who’s gonna rip out your spark!
Mon-El: Chimera! Stand down! She’s not with Zod! She’s new here for Daxam’s sake.
Superman: Is he always like this?
Mon-El: After Zod, yes. He’s an Alpha for a reason, and a leader.
Chimera taps a strange symbol on his chest, causing him to change into a teenage boy with E/C and H/C.
????: Sorry ‘bout that. Needed to let off some steam. Who’s the gorgeous blonde girl dressed like a cheerleader?
Superman: This is my cousin; Kara Zoe-El.
Supergirl: Call me Supergirl.
????: Oh, we’re giving up our secret identities. Call me Y/N L/N aka Chimera. King of Beasts and God of Monsters. I could use a new training partner, especially one of your type. Sorry, I apologise.
Supergirl: It’s okay, be yourself as you want.

"Listen, Kai. I'm anything but perfect. I've... made some huge mistakes in my life. But being with you wasn't one of them, and, yes, you lied to me and pretended to be someone you weren't, and, yes, I did love Mon-El once. When he left, I hoped he would somehow find his way back to me, and yet I somehow found my way to you instead. It doesn't matter if you're not an alien prince. It doesn't matter if you were a psychopathic killer on your earth." Y/N said.
Kai turned him and stood as he walked towards him. "You're just saying that because you can't change what happened. That you can't get who you really want. I'm just your consolation prize. A cheap knockoff of Mon-El and all that he means to you."
Y/N shook his head. "No, Kai. I don't care what happened between Mon-El and I. I don't care what he would have done because he's not here. You are."
Kai was certainly shocked. All his life he's been the villain of every story. The one who was blamed for everything. He honestly thought he deserved everything bad that happened to him, but being with Y/N made him want to be a better man. "You're serious?"
"I am. I realize now that Mon-El wasn't the one fated to be in my life. He was put there to prepare me for loving you. And I love you Malachai Parker."

----------
[Daxam after the explosion of Krypton]
Someone woke you up, and you were confused when you saw the fear in the eyes of your maid. "What's happening?" She didn't have the time to reply when you both heard screams and cries. She took your hand and dragged you out of the castle.
"Ms. Y/n, Krypton exploded, and it is falling on Daxam. I need to make sure you can escape." She found a Kryptonian pod and pushed you in.
"No, Abbie, I don't want to leave you." You started to cry, "Come with me, please." You plead, but she shook her head.
"You're the princess of Daxam, miss. You have to go and survive." She hugged you and apologized, "I'm sorry, Y/N." She was crying as well.
"You can't leave me. I need you, and mom, and dad and my brother" she brushed her thumb on your cheek to calm you down, "and I'm only 5, I'll not survive without you. Please Abbie" you plead again.
"I already put data in it; it'll bring you to a planet called Earth," she kissed your forehead before starting the pod. "Don't forget, miss, you're a princess; act like one," she said as she placed her hand on the window, and you reciprocated: "Good luck, miss Y/N."
You were flying into space without saying anything.The journey should have been quick, but your pod collided with an asteroid, sending you to the phantom zone.You are imprisoned for the next 27 years before miraculously escaping.
[Earth, a town near Metropolis]
When you landed on Earth, Clark was already Superman. He found your pod when you lend and helped you, and because of him, you found a new home in this new world. The (y/l/n)s were good parents; they always wanted a new child, so when the Superman asked for their assistance, they couldn't say no.
The first years were difficult, you missed your family and Abbie too. But fortunately, you were glad to have a new big brother who was a jerk but not a Don Juan and a big sister who was always here when you needed her.
After a few years and many late-night conversations with your sister, Jessy, you decide to live a life that makes you proud. Since this moment, you were not the princess of Daxam; you were just Y/n Y/l/n, daughter of James and Kathryn (Y/l/n), and the little sister of Mike and Jessy. It was all you needed, at least before you went to high school. You met her there; she was stunning and beautiful; you couldn't count how many times you were lost in her green eyes, and her black hair, which contrasted nicely with her pale skin, was also quite nice.Her name: Lena Luthor.
After taking some advice from your friends and your siblings, you asked her out, and she accepted. You started dating one month after your first date, and three years later you married her. With her job at Luthor Corp and your job at Daily Planet, you almost have time to spend together, but you decided to have a child, you carried her, and it was the most beautiful thing in your life after Lena.Her name was Lilly; you thought it was a pretty name, and it was the minimum for your pretty princess.
Time flies, Lex has gone insane just after you and Lilly move to National City. Lois found you a job at Catco where you could work less and spend more time with your daughter. Unfortunately, that means you were not here when Lex tied your wife to a chair in his office and threatened to kill you. She was aware of your past and the fact that you were a daxamite, but she didn't mind; all she cared about was the fact that you adored her and Lilly above all else.
[Present]
It's been a while now since Lena came to Central City, and you will not lie; you were pretty glad. Lilly loves you, but she missed her other mom too. Today you decided to have lunch with your wife, and you brought your daughter. It was a little surprise to Lena, but it was a surprise for you when you knocked and opened the door to find an older woman with your wife. She looked familiar, but you couldn't tell where you saw her.
The little girl didn't hesitate and rushed to her mom to greet her with a hug, and the green-eyed woman picked her up. "Hi little princess, I missed you," she cooed, and you smiled at the interaction. She looked at you and seemed to recall something, so she cleared her throat and came to a halt beside you, kissing you and saying, "Rhea, this is my wife, and Lilly is our daughter."She introduced you. "Y/n, this is Rhea. She asked for my help on a new project." She explained, and you nodded.
You offered your hand at Reah, and she shook it. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Rhea; I hope she'll not bother you too much," you joked, and your wife punched your shoulder. "You know that doesn't hurt me, honey," you said, and Lena rolled her eyes.
"Mommy, I'm hungry." Lilly said.
"Oh, I think it's my clue to leave." The older brunette said,
"No, you can stay and eat with us." You offered.
"Oh no, I don't want to ruin a mother-daughter moment," she said, and she pocked the cheek of the little girl, who giggled,
"You don't ruin anything, Rhea." Lena said this time,
"Don't worry, there is someone who wait for me too," she said before walking to the door. "I'll see you soon, Lena." The three of you waved your hands, and she left.
"I like her," you said. "I just hope this new project will not take all your time."
The CEO kissed your cheek this time "I promise. Now let's go to eat."
~~~~~~
After your first meeting with Rhea, the woman was always here when you visited L-Corp. It was not really bothering, she was pretty good with your daughter, and Luly seems to like her too. You were waiting for your wife that night, and you were reading a bedtime story to your little princess when she said something that caught your attention: "Mama, Mrs. Rhea, look like you." You stopped reading the story and looked at her,
"What do you mean, princess?" you asked softly,
"Yeah, she looks like you, and she looks like Mike too." You frowned your brows; you hadn't met Mike, Kara's new friend, yet. Lilly and Lena liked to say you had some common point with him, but you didn't know him. "Do you think she's from Da-Dax..." She searched for the right word, and it was cute to look at.
"Daxam, baby girl. And I don't know; I almost forgot everything about it. It's been a while you know." She nodded, "Now it's time to sleep, little princess. Tomorrow we will go to the carnival with mommy," you said, and she was so excited.
You left her bedroom when you were sure she was sleeping. You looked at the time and noticed it was late, and Lena didn't reply to your texts or your calls. You thought for a moment before calling Alex. "Hey Alex," you said when she answered the phone,
"Hey Y/n, it's late. Aren't you supposed to sleep?" She worriedly asked.
You groan "You're such a mom." And she laughed "do you know where is Lena? I tried to call her, but she didn't reply, and she didn't reply to my texts. I'm starting to worry." You admitted and you heard her sighed
"Y/N, we have a problem," she said, and you started to worry about your wife "We think she has been trapped and kidnapped by Mike's mom. But don't worry, Kara is on it."
"Where are you?" A wave of rage begins to wash over you.Alex told you where she was, you called Jessy, and she took Lilly with her for the night before you almost flew to where your friends was. When you reached the older Danvers, she was in front of a portal. She told you Kara was on the other side, and you didn't hesitate to run after her.
On the ship, you found Kara, Mike, Rhea, and an angry Superman. "What the hell?" you yelled, and every gaze was on you. "why Clark look like he's in front of a bad guy?" you asked, and the black-haired Kryptonian walked to you before he was stopped by Kara. You looked at Rhea and said, "You. Where is my wife?" You asked
"What Lena is your wife?" Mon-el said, and you focused on him.
"I saw you somewhere," you said, and some flashes from your childhood started to run in your mind. "Mon-el?" you asked, and you tilted your head. "But how? You were supposed to be dead when Krypton fell on Daxam." You were more than confused. He was about to reply when Rhea attacked you with a dagger made of lead. Thanks to your training with Clark, you successfully dodged it and attacked her back.
"Who are you?" the man  asked you.
"I'm Y/n, princess of Daxam," you said, and the room froze at your confession.
"Wait, Y/n like--" your brother wanted to say something, but Rhea cut him off,
"It's impossible," she said."My daughter died, Krypton took me my daughter," she explained, and now everything makes sense—the familiar look, the fact that Lena and Lilly always say you look like both of them.
"Mother?" you asked, and you didn't trust what you said. All this time, you thought you were the only one who survived. "But how should you be dead, both of you?" you asked, as tears streamed down your cheeks. "Wait, if you're both alive, that's mean father and Abbie too." At your sentence, Rhea was hit by a wave of guilt. Mon-El looked at her and didn't say anything.
She shook her head, and you cried harder. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "I'm really sorry." She kept repeating it as if it would make you stop, but it didn't. And honestly, neither of them could make you feel better. You wanted to yell at them because they didn't protect Abbie, but an alarm stopped you.
"What is this?" you asked, and a guard ran to where you were before stopping and panting,
"My queen, the humans... They sent lead into the atmosphere." he announced, and the three of you widen your eyes
"What?" You said, but you didn't wait for any response before leaving the ship—thankfully, it was on top of the building. When your feet were definitely on the ground, you started to run. You had to find Lilly; she can't be exposed to the lead. Even if she was half human, she would be affected by the lead.
[North Pole, Fortress of Solitude, a few minutes earlier]
After Lena crossed the portal, Luke closed it. "What are you doing?" the young Luthor asked, but her mom didn't look at her.
"We needed to get away, and we did. Now what happens to them? That's not our problem." Lillian said nonchalantly, "But we have another problem." She said, and her daughter tilted her head with confusion, "ThisRhea sent all her army to conquer us, but we can stop her." Her voice was cold and calm, but she was a little worried, even if she didn't let it show. She is attached to Lilly, and she can't imagine what they could do to her.
"And what are your plan?"Lena asked coldly.
"We know they're weak against lead; it's their kryptonite." She took a little box "Lex had planned to use this to diffuse kryptonite in the atmosphere to kill Superman, but if you change it, it could diffuse lead." She informed her,
"And why would I do that?" The CEO scuffed,
"Because we both know you have a reason who is 4 years old and could be in danger if they found her." Lillian said,
"But my wife is a daxamite too." Lena reminded her,
"Yeah, I know, and I have something that could help her not be affected." She said casually, "So?"
Lena examined her mother and the cyborg beside her "deal."She said it quietly but enough to be heard by her mom, who now had a smile on her face.
Only a few minutes later, your genius wife finished the modification and activated the device.
[National City, present]
You knocked on the door of Jessy's apartment, she opened quickly and inspected you before leading you to her sofa. "What happened to you? Where is Lena?" she asked, afraid of your condition.
"Someone diffuses lead in the—" you coughed, "atmosphere," you finished, coughing.
"Wait who? And why?" Your sister asked,
"I don't know, but I need to contact Lena. Lilly will be affected by the lead, and she's the only one who could help us." You declared, Jess wanted to say something, but her phone rang; it was Lena.
"Lena, where are you?... what? Yeah, she's with me ... Right now? Okay, she's with me too, in my apartment... Yeah see you soon." she hangs on and turned to you "it was Lena she's in her way to come here. She'll be here soon. You should rest. I'll bring you water," she said as she walked to the kitchen.
You walked to Jessy's room and opened the door. You saw Lilly. She was sleeping, but suddenly she started to cough and was now awake. You took her in your arms and made your way back to the living room. Jessy came back and gave you both a glass of water. It's been more than twenty years now since you were on earth, so you knew you could stay a little longer, but you were worried for Lilly. Fortunately, Lena didn't make you wait too long.
You heard a knock on the door, and your big sis opened it. She smiled when she saw Lena, but her smile disappeared when she saw the woman behind her. "Oh Lillian, what a surprise." she said coldly, but let them step inside.
When you saw the familiar green eyes you were relieved and then you saw your mother-in-law, you suppressed a caught "Mother-in-law." you greeted her
"Daughter-in-law" She greeted you back, "You seemed more alive the last time I saw you," she joked, and you chuckled,
"Granny Lillian." Lilly greeted her, and the older Luthor's heart almost dropped when she heard the voice of her granddaughter.
"Hey princess, did you catch a cold?" Lena asked when she noticed her daughter's condition.
"No, someone diffused lead in the atmosphere," you replied, and the youngest Luthor coughed against your chest. "Hey, it's okay, Princess," you ran your hand through her hair. "Mommy is here; she'll find a way to help you." you whispered loudly against her temple.
Lena covered her mouth with her hands. It couldn't be real. Her baby girl shouldn't be affected by the lead, she's human too. Lillian noticed and decided to speak, "We have something that could help her." She informed you.
You didn't have to think too long about it, you understood they couldn't save both of you. "Hey princess, do you want to show the gift uncle Mike gave you to your granny?" You asked softly, and she nodded before getting up and walking to her bedroom. You started to walk to the kitchen and made eye contact with your wife. She got the hint and followed you.
"I'm sorry," she barely said between sobs.
"Hey, darling... *cough*... it's okay. You'll help Lilly, and I'm sure you'll find a solution for me after that." You kissed her forehead gently.
"I was not talking about this," she admitted. You didn't say anything; you just studied her eyes.
"It was you?" You asked her, and she nodded. She was crying harder, and you locked her between your arms. She could hear your heartbeats, but they were so ecstatic she couldn't feel safe, "I know why you did that." You whispered, and you ran a hand through her hair, "I'm not angry or anything, Lena. Just promise me you'll do anything to heal Lilly." She gently drew back and locked her gaze on yours.You only saw sadness and fear in her eyes, and it was killing you.
"I promise. But we have to do something for you." She replied, and you smiled softly.
"It's okay, my queen; I'm sure Superman and Supergirl won't mind if I stay in the fortress for a while." You tried to reassure her, or you. You didn't really know, but you can't let her feel bad for something she couldn't control. "I'm okay, Lena, I promise."
Jessy came in the kitchen, and you looked at her. "Lilly is feeling better now." She informed you, and Lena was relieved. You wanted to rush to your baby girl and take her in your arms, but you fell to the ground.
When you awoke, you were in the fortress. You could feel the lead in your lungs, but the pain slowly went away. You looked around and noticed a floating robot."Good morning, Mrs. Y/l/n-Luthor, I'm Kelex," he said.
"Oh, nice to meet you, Kelex." You looked around. "We are in the fortress, right?" you asked.
"That's right. Supergirl brought you here after you collapsed in your sister's apartment," he explained.
"Oh," was all you could say."Do you know where the others are?" you asked.
"They were back in National City. But you can't see them right now." he said, and you looked confused. "The atmosphere is not totally free of lead. You must stay here, safe," he explained.
"Do you know until when?" you asked, a little saddened by the revelation.
"We don't know, but don't worry, I'll let Mrs. Luthor and Kara know you're awake. They could come to see you during your time here." he said, and you nodded.
"Okay, it'll be fun. At least, I hope," you muttered.
Running Out of Time (Maggie Sawyer x Danver!Reader)
Main Masterlist
hi if you still write for maggie sawyer, would write a fic about the episode Alex gets kidnapped but it's r instead of Alex thanks
Tumblr media
"You don't have to hurt anyone," a police officer says into her phone. A line of police cars is lined up outside a bank. "No one is making you do this. You're choosing to do this. You and your friend chose to go into that bank. You chose to take those people hostage. But you know what? You can choose to put your guns down. You can choose to let those people go. You can choose not to hurt anyone."
"Look up!" a man yells. "Up in the sky!"
There is a sound of glass smashing and the crowd behind Detective Maggie Sawyer.
"Hey, not even Pretty Boy Floyd got to meet Supergirl," Kara Danvers says, hauling two of the goons out of the bank. "It'll be a fun story to tell your roommates in jail!"
Maggie walks up to Kara, tucking her phone into her back pocket. "Supergirl . . ." Maggie says and Kara rests her hands on her hips, exhaling sharply. "I almost had him . . . "
"And I got you over the finish line!" Kara says brightly. "And just in time for dinner. I'll see you later."
. . .
The smoke alarm beeps and (Y/n) Danvers waves a towel around. "Thanks," her older sister says, handing the delivery man a twenty.
"(Y/n), the first time I tried to microwave macaroni and cheese," Mon-El says, "they had to evacuate three city blocks."
(Y/n) glances amusedly at her older sister's boyfriend.
"That's an exaggeration, but Ihave seen less terrifying nuclearing explosions.
"Well, I like pizza better than paella anyway," Maggie says, opening a box of pepperoni, glancing affectionately at (Y/n).
"Yes, me too," (Y/n) agrees.
Kara opens a box of Hawaiian pizza. "I love ham and pineapple!"
"Thank you. It totally shouldn't work, but it totally does," Mon-El agrees with Kara. "How's my girlfriend, guys, huh?"
Kara chuckles. "What?"
"Bank robbers, zero," Mon-El talks through a mouthful of pizza. "Supergirl, two. What do you even need cops for in this city?" he chuckles.
A dangerous look lights in Maggie's eyes, and Alex and her girlfriend Lena exchange a glance.
"He's from a different planet," (Y/n) says, resting a hand on Maggie's knee. "He doesn't even know what he's saying."
"No, he's right," Maggie says, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Why bother trying to talk a guy down when Supergirl can just swoop right in and force him down?" she looks over at Kara. "Seventeen hours of 'What do you want, how can I help you?' good old-fashioned hostage negotiation wasted."
"You're not upset that I caught the bad guys and got everyone out safely, are you?" Kara chuckles, pushing her glasses back up onto her face. No, Kara didn't have to wear her glasses, everyone - even Lena knew because Alex did not want to start her relationship off with the Luthor on a lie.
"I would've gotten them to free the hostages," Maggie says.
"Maybe," Kara shrugs. "But they're in jail now, where they can't hurt anyone. That's all that matters."
Lena glances over at (Y/n), whose eyes had widened slightly.
"Unless they use the Supergirl defense," Maggie says, leaning forward.
"The what?" Kara asks.
"It's a think some criminals use to get their charges dropped," Lena offers.
Maggie nods. "It's a perfect storm for a defense attorney. Excessiveforce, evidence contaminated by debris, vigilante justice . . ." Maggie trails off, meeting Kara's gaze.
"'Vigilante justice?'" Kara echoes. "I stand for hope, and help, and compassion! I did what I had to do to get those people out of there."
"I think what Maggie's trying to say is that what you do is amazing when we're up against . . ." (Y/n) begins.
"A giant purple monster or a half-cyborg murderer, sure," Maggie interupts, and (Y/n)'s hand falls to Maggie's knee again. "But, most of the time, police work requires a more delicate touch."
"Delicate?" Kara echoes again.
"Yeah," Maggie replies. "You broke one guy's arm and you gave another one a concussion. And that was after you knocked in the roof of a National City landmark." (Y/n) stops trying to interrupt when Maggie scoffs, "And now, it has a big, Supergirl-sized hole in it."
"A thousand things could've happened from the time of your call to the hostages walking out," Kara says, glaring at Maggie from across the table. "Maybe, yeah, sure, I broke some walls, but I got everyone out of there safely, and that is a win."
"Well, you should've asked. But you never look before you leap," Maggie replies, a tight frown spreading across her lips.
"Because I can fly," Kara replies, leaning back in her chair.
"Okay," Maggie scoffs again, looking away. Maggie meets Lena's gaze, and Lena flashes her what seems to be a sisterly glare.
Mon-El clears his throat. "Well, as being something of a superhero myself, I can say that sometimes it's better to punch, than, than to talk."
(Y/n) lets out an inaudible groan, pressing her hand to her forehead, trying to quell her quickly growing headache.
"Sometimes," Kara throws her napkin on her empty plate, "talking is more hurtful than punching. Obviously, I've upset you, Maggie. I'm gonna go."
"No, Kara, don't do that . . ." (Y/n) says, Kara having stood up from the table.
"No, it's fine." Kara says, pushing (Y/n)'s comment aside. "Than/k you. Thanks for dinner."
(Y/n) gets up from the table to follow Kara, Mon-El in front of (Y/n).
"We're gonna go," Alex says, she and Lena also getting up from the table. Alex gives her youngest sister a hug before she and Lena Luthor leave (Y/n) and Maggie's apartment.
(Y/n) turns to face Maggie. "I know you're upset about earlier, but I really . . . " she pauses. "I just really want you and Kara to get along."
"Kara and I get along great," Maggie says, meeting (Y/n)'s tired gaze. "It's Supergirl that I sometimes have trouble with."
"Okay, just keep trying," (Y/n) takes a step forward. "Okay?"
"Okay, for you," Maggie replies. "Wait, where are you going?" she asks as (Y/n) strides towards the door.
"To catch up with Kara and tell her to try too," (Y/n) throws on her jacket. "But she's just as stubborn as you." (Y/n)'s (E/c) eyes gleam with affection for a moment.
. . .
"Kara. Hi," Maggie walks up to Kara at Catco.
"Maggie," Kara nods. "Is everything okay?" she asks, the two walking towards Kara's desk.
"Yeah, I was just looking for (Y/n)," Maggie replies, "wondering if she checked in with you."
"Didn't you crash at her place last night?" Kara asks Maggie.
"I did," Maggie replies, "but she left to catch up with you after you left. What, she didn't stay with you?"
"She never caught up with me," Kara answers, turning to look at Maggie with a concerned look on her face. "Maybe she went to the DEO?"
Maggie shakes her head, "Alex said she didn't check in last night or report this morning."
"Huh . . ." Kara's eyebrows knit and her phone rings. "Ah. Mystery solved," Kara shows Maggie her phone, which had (Y/n) as the caller ID. "(Y/n)?" Kara answers the phone.
"Hello, Kara Danvers," a man, definitely not (Y/n), answers.
"Who is this?" Kara asks, stopping in her tracks.
"Well, the real question is, who are you?" the man replies. "Everyone around you thinks you're just a mild-mannered reporter. But I know the truth."
"What do you want?" Kara questions.
"I have your sister," the man replies.
"You're lying," Kara says, terror spiking in her.
"I'm not," Kara's phone vibrates and she pulls her phone from her ear. Maggie comes to stand at Kara's shoulder. The two look down to see the image of the body of a motionless figure lying on the floor of what seems to be a glass box.
"A man named Peter Thompson is serving a life sentence in Albatross Bay Supermax. You will free him within the next thirty-six hours or your precious baby sister will die. And I know you can, because I know . . . You're Supergirl."
. . .
(Y/n) blinks dazedly, weakly raising her head.
Noticing her surroundings, (Y/n) pushes herself to her feet.
"Hello?" she calls.
Electricity buzzes around her, and (Y/n) presses her head to the glass of her enclosure, breathing heavily.
"I knew I recognized you from the elevator," she croaks. "I know who you are. The people that I work with, they will find me." (Y/n) glares up into the camera at the corner of the cell. "And when they do, you will be in a world of hurt." (Y/n) totters slightly on weak legs. "So, I am giving you one chance. Free me, now."
Fear spikes in (Y/n) when she looks around the container. Three of the walls and the floor are made of cinder blocks, the ceiling of a chain-length fence, and the front wall made of glass.
. . .
"So, this person who says they've kidnapped (Y/n)," J'oon says, everyone gathered in the main debriefing room of the DEO, "what did he say on the call."
"H-he said he would kill (Y/n)," Kara says, pacing back and forth in front of the round table, "if I didn't break PeterThompson out of Albatross Bay."
Maggie and Alex are leaning heavily against the table. Lena and Winn Schott are standing off to the side, talking in whispers.
"He said he knows Kara Danvers is Supergirl," Kara goes on, and Lena and Winn stop their conversation, their widened eyes falling on Kara. "He's targeting (Y/n) because she's my sister," Kara goes on.
"But why (Y/n)?" Alex questions, straightening herself. "He could've also chosen me. Why go for her?"
"I don't know," Kara replies, shaking her head.
"This might be stating the obvious here, but why don't we just spring Peter Thompson and bring (Y/n) home?" Mon-El questions.
"The DEO does not negotiate with terrorists," J'oon replies.
"But this is (Y/n)," Mon-El faces J'oon.
"If we do this once, we'll open the floodgates," J'oon argues, a pained look in his eyes. "Every bad guy will know Supergirl can be controlled."
"And even if we do what he wants, it doesn't guarantee he'll release her," Maggie says. It was the first time she'd spoken since she'd learned (Y/n) had been kidnapped. "She's his insurance."
"All right, people,let's get to work!" J'oon booms, and everyone scrambles around. He walks over to Winn, who had sat down at his computer. "Winn, any luck with Alex's subdermal tracker?" he questions.
"No," Winn shakes his head, "it's been offline since ten'o'clock last night." Winn shakes his head, furiously typing on his keyboard. Whoever took her must have found some way to power it down."
"Where are we triangulating the signal from the phone calls?" J'oon asks Lena.
"We're nowhere," Lena plops down into a spare computer. "The caller used four different arrays to scramble the signal." Her accent had thickened with her worry for the youngest Danvers.
"You guys listen, we gotta move," Winn turns around to address all the agents.
"All right, let's start with what we know," Alex says, rising from her chair.
J'oon nods, "If this guy knows you're Supergirl, we just that to our advantage."
"That's gotta be a short list," Mon-El says. "Who knows your secret?" he questions.
"Jeremiah, Eliza, Clark, Alex, Lois, Lucy, the DEO, James . . ." Kara trails off, trying to think of a few more. "Lillian Luthor," she glances unsteadily at Lena, but Lena meets her gaze steadily.
"Does Peter Thompson have ties with Cadmus?" Lena asks, coming to stand around the table.
"No, I already checked," Winn replies. "There's nothing."
"Then you're asking the wrong question," Maggie supplies, and the others look at her. "We don't know where (Y/n) was taken, we don't have a crime scene, we don't have any physical evidence. They've clearly been planning this for a while. Whoever took (Y/n) is a ghost who doesn't want to be found."
Kara's head rests in her hands. "Then what's the right question?" she questions.
"Who is Peter Thompson and what does he mean to our ghost?" Maggie says, and the others nod.
. . .
Maggie, Alex, Kara and J'oon walk into the prison.
"Mr. Thompson," J'oon flashes his FBI badge. "Hank Henshaw and Alex Danvers, FBI. This is Detective Sawyer from NCPD, and Ms. Danvers from CatCo Magazine."
"The feds, a pig, and a journo," Thompson says, looking between the three. "To what do I owe this confusing pleasure?" he asks.
Maggie throws a manilla folder on the table between Thompson and J'oon. "Your jacket's a thrilling read. Three home invasions, two DUIs, two counts of felony murder."
"You all didn't come down here just to flatter me, did you?" Thompson asks, meeting Maggie's brown eyes. Maggie takes a breath, "This morning, we got a call from an anonymous source, asking that you be released from prison."
"Someone wants me out of jail?" Thompson laughs. "Not used to that. People usually want to keep me behind bars."
"A life sentence can't be all that easy," Alex says, "being in here all by yourself."
"You ever keep in contact with anyone on the outside?" J'oon questions.
"Just last week," Thompson replies, "Mr. JC Penney sent me a letter. He said there was a sale on galoshes." Kara's eyes burn and she steps forward as Thompson continues. "It's just that I don't have anywhere to wear them."
Kara slams her fist onto the metal table, startling Maggie a little. "Enough!" she orders. "My sister's been kidnapped, and her life is on the line until we find out who wants you out of prison."
"Ms. Danvers ..." J'oon says warningly.
"So save us the sarcasm! Who is it? Who has her?"
"Calm down," Alex says, her voice equally as warning as J'oon's and she places a hand on her sister's arm.
"Who has my sister?" Kara yells, ignoring Alex and J'oon.
"I don't know," Thompson says, meeting Kara's furious gaze.
"You're lying," Kara says angrily, her eyes narrowing.
"He's not," J'oon says. "We're done here."
The officer pulls Thompson to his feet and leads the fugitive out of the interrogation room.
"Why'd you let him go?" Kara asks J'oon.
"Because I read his mind," the Martian answers. "He's telling the truth." J'oon gets up from the table.
"Losing control is not gonna help us find (Y/n) faster," Maggie tells the superhero. "It's only going to get her killed."
Kara stares at Maggie for a moment, and then her phone rings. "Winn," she says, sounding almost defeated.
"Hey, we got something," Lena's voice comes from the speaker.
"What?" Kara asks.
"I scanned the visitor logs for Peter Thompson," Winn's voice comes from the speaker this time, "over the past three years. They're pretty sparse, except for one name that keeps popping up."
"Who?" Kara asks.
"Doesn't matter, it's a fake name," Winn replies. "I pulled some security footage and, baby, I ran that facial recognition software. Thompson has a son."
"But we checked, he doesn't have any relations," Kara replies.
"Well, apparently, there's a lot of family drama," Winn says. "Thompson's name isn't even on the kid's birth certificate. And I only figured this out after I cross-checked the name with the court transcripts. The kid spoke at Thompson's sentencing, and his name is . . . Rick Malverne. He has a house an hour outside the city."
"Malverne. Why does that sound so familiar?" Kara says aloud and Alex stares at her sister.
"He went to high school with us," Alex snaps her fingers.
. . .
Kara lands outside a house and busts down the door. "(Y/n)! (Y/n)!" she yells as she runs through the house.
Sticking her head in one of the rooms, Kara sees a set of computer screens with (Y/n) projected on them.
"(Y/n). (Y/n)!" Kara says softly, walking up the screens. "(Y/n)!"
"She can't hear you, Kara," comes a voice and Kara turns around to see a blonde man standing in the doorway.
"Rick?" Kara asks in disbelief.
"Jeez, I haven't seen you since graduation," is Rick's reply. "You look great."
Kara's eyes blaze and she grabs Rick, lifting him off the ground. "Where's my sister?" she demands.
"You break my father out of prison yet?" Rick asks, his teeth clenched.
"You know I can't do that," Kara murmurs.
"Can't or won't?" Rick questions.
Kara throws Rick back into a wall with a grunt.
"Tell me where she is," Kara growls.
That's not how this works," Rick answers. "Now, why don't you try and play nice, Kara?" he asks. "You were always the nice one."
Kara sighs, a hardened look on her face.
"Just let me talk to her," Kara breathes, looking over her shoulder at her sister on the monitors.
"Well, if that gets you to play ball, then I'm happy to help," Rick says, sliding around Kara to type on the keyboard.
The monitor chimes.
"(Y/n)!" Kara croaks. "(Y/n)!"
"Kara, is that you?" (Y/n) calls. "Rick Malverne from Midvale, he kidnapped me!" (Y/n) places her hand on the glass, facing the camera.
"I know," Kara replies. "I'm with him right now. Are you okay? Where are you?"
"My tracker. Can you use my tracker?" (Y/n) asks, and Kara can hear the frantic tone of her sister's voice.
"It's not working. We don't know -" Rick cuts Kara off.
"Okay, that's enough of a reunion, I think," Rick says.
"No, wait," Kara says.
Rick sighs, "It's simple. She's told you she's okay. And now we trade my father for (Y/n)."
"Your father is a murderer," Kara retorts.
"Manslaughter-er," Rick corrects.
"Tell me where she is," Kara demands again.
"Tick, tock. Tick, tock."
Kara's eyes burn red from her building heat-vision and Rick leans closer, "oh, wow, it's even cooler up close. You hurt me, you'll never find her. And she'll die. Slowly."
. . .
"He looks normal," Winn says, watching as two DEO agents lead Rick Malverne into the interrogation room.
"He was nice in school," Kara says, crossing her arms.
"He used to carry (Y/n)'s bookbag," Alex agrees. Lena raises an eyebrow and Alex shrugs.
"Why is he doing this to her?" Kara wonders aloud.
"I tried reading his mind, but he seems to be blocking me somehow," J'oon says.
"Let me in there," Maggie turns to J'oon. "I can talk to him."
J'oon considers Maggie for a moment before he nods. "All right."
. . .
Maggie sits down in a chair across from Malverne, Kara and Alex framed in the doorway.
"Detective Sawyer," Malverne considers Maggie, leaning forward slightly. "And they say there's never a cop around when you need one."
"So you know me?" Maggie crosses her arms.
"Of course," Malverne smiles, leaning back in his chair. "I took a whole year planning this. Watching (Y/n). Preparing. I know everything.
"How did you know I was Supergirl?" Kara asks, crossing her arms.
"The day at the beach," Malverne replies, meeting Kara's eyes. "Before you started wearing glasses.
"Hey, Rick," a young Alex greets a young Rick Malverne, Kara and (Y/n) standing behind her. (Y/n) was gently explaining things to Kara in a low voice.
"A bunch of us are heading to Swan Beach after school," Rick says, resturing towards the direction of the nearby beach. "You and (Y/n) wanna come?" Rick smiles over at the two year younger (Y/n).
"Back then," Rick says, pulling Kara and Alex from the memory, "I had no idea that (Y/n) would end up playing for the other team, so to speak."
"You're new sister is kinda weird," Rick says, gesturing to a young Kara who was looking up at the sky with wide, amazed eyes. A young (Y/n) rests her hand on Kara's shoulder, looking amused.
"Then there was a crash," Malverne goes on.
Kara charges to a car, pulling a woman and a baby from the burning wreckage.
The rest of the kids run up the hill to see a young woman hugging Kara with one arm and cradling her baby with the other.
"And her older sister walked away without a scratch. People at school said it was adrenaline, but, uh . . . "
"But you didn't believe that," Maggie finishes, meeting Malverne's gaze steadily.
"I saw Kara Danvers do something amazing," Malverne glances over at Kara. "And it stayed with me. I knew Kara was living in National City, and then Supergirl showed up in National City . . ." he chuckles. "I put two and two together. I knew it was you."
"What happened to you?" Alex asks, leaning forward. "I remember when (Y/n) and Alex had the chicken pox, and I was eating lunch by myself. You came and sat with me.
Rick chuckles. "I was fourteen. And I didn't have the nice house or the perfect family you three had." Maggie stands up from her seat.
"You think we had it easy?" Kara asks, unfolding her arms. "You have no idea what either of my sisters sacrificed for me. Or what I was going through!"
Malverne straightens in his seat, fixing his eyes on Kara. "Why, because you had to hide your superpowers? I was hiding bruises! Do you know what it's like to have your mother tell you you're garbage every single night? A belt whenever you had the wrong opinion? And then I found a lifeline. A dad my mom kept from me. And he saved me from her and he moved away from Midvale. And even though he was already struggling, he always made sure there was food on the table and he got me enough money to go to college. And then three years ago, the state took him from me."
"Your father killed two people," Maggie says, leaning against a wall, her arms crossed. "He confessed."
"They had it coming," Malverne replies, leaning back in his seat. "And now I'm gonna rescue him just like he rescued me. Alex shifts uncomfortably, leaving the room without another word. "I can't believe we're still talking about me! You have twenty-four hours and eleven minutes." Kara stiffens as Rick continues, "Come on, Kara, show us some of that rah-rah Midvale Junior High Spirit." Malverne is yelling now. "Free my dad! Or your sister dies."
Kara growls, zooms over, flips the table, and pins Malverne to the wall.
"Oh, you use half this much gusto in springing my dad, you'll have your sister back for game night."
"Kara! We're done here!" Maggie's voice cracks.
Kara lets go of Malverne and the man drops to the ground. "Hey. You know what'll be fun?" he asks. Maggie frowns, an eyebrow raising as she steps back from the man. "Finding out which of the three of you loves her more. "Honestly, I wouldn't know where to place my bet," he sneers and Maggie swallows thickly.
Kara frowns at the man and after a minute, the three women go to leave the room, Maggie pausing for a second.
"Go Stallions," Malverne grins.
Both Kara and Maggie leave the room. "I'm giving him one more minute, then I'm going back in there," Kara says.
"No," Maggie replies.
Alex straightens from where she'd slumped against the doorframe.
"Let him sweat it a little. We got what we wanted," Maggie reasons.
"What?" Kara questions, looking down into Maggie's eyes. "All we know i show he knows my identity."
"We know that Rick's pinned his whole sense of self-worth on Peter Thompson," Maggie says. "Thompson is the key to getting (Y/n) back."
Kara's angry eyes seems to extinguish as she considers Maggie's words.
. . .
An hour or so later, Maggie leads Peter Thompson into Malverne's interrogation room.
"Ricky," Thompson says, walking towards his son.
"Dad," Malverne gets up from his seat.
Thompson pauses before moving to hug his son. "All that time inspiration, I imagined a day when . . . I could talk to you without a pane of glass between us."
"The DEO moved heaven and Earth to free this man," Maggie says. "We did what you wanted. Now, tell us where (Y/n) is."
"No. No, not until my father and I are far from here," Malverne says.
"You think we're stupid?" Maggie questions. "I showed you mine. Your turn."
"So you can toss us in Gitmo?" Thompson asks. "Not gonna happen."
Maggie shakes her head in disbelief.
"Maybe he gives you a piece. A little token of goodwill," Thompson adds. "You gotta give them something, Ricky. That's how it works. Just tell them where she is." Thompson narrows his eyes at his son.
"Well, you really nailed his essence, I'll give you that," Malverne says.
"What?" Maggie asks, stepping forward, her arms crossing.
"I mean, that thing . . ." Malverne says, studying his father's face. "He couldn't decide whether to hug me or not. That's vintage Dad." Malverne sits back down in his metal chair.
"What are you talking about?" Thompson asks, walking up to stand beside the table.
"My father would never be playing these games. He'd be wanting to get the hell away from here and making sure that he never went back to prison," his expression is one of anger. "I've been planning this for a year. Do you really think I didn't prepare for you," Malverne pauses, looking up at Thompson, "Martian?"
Thompson walks over to Maggie and shifts back into himself.
"You're down to twenty-three hours and fourteen minutes," Malverne says as he gazes a Maggie and J'oon. "And counting."
Maggie closes her eyes, pressing her index finger and thumb to the bridge of her nose.
. . .
(Y/n) looks around her containment module. Her eyes narrow as she looks up at the camera.
(Y/n) pulls off her jacket and belt. She climbs up, pulling the camera off the wall.
"Okay," she breathes, having taken apart the camera.
(Y/n) bites down on the end of her belt, snaps a card from her wallet, and pulling down the shoulder of her shirt. She whimpers as she digs the sharp end of the card into her shoulder. (Y/n)'s teeth bare down on the belt, her chest heaving as she finally pulls her tracker from out of her shoulder.
(Y/n) spits out the belt, her chest heaving. "That sucked," (Y/n) grumbles, blinking back her tears. She connects her tracker to the camera after pulling out a few wires.
. . .
"I just got a software update request from one of our trackers," an agent says, peering at the computer screen. "System's not recognizing the IP address."
"She's a little genius!" Winn says. Winn runs down the hall. "Guys! We found (Y/n). I found her."
Kara - who is standing with Mon-El, Alex, and Lena - turns to face Winn. "You did?" Kara asks frantically.
"We got a ping from her subdermal tracker," Winn explains. "She's not far!"
Kara runs over to the door where she finds Maggie sitting at the table across from Malverne.
"Maggie. Winn found (Y/n)," Kara says, and Maggie turns to look at Kara. Alex is framed in the doorway, her eyes wide with hope.
"What? How?" Maggie asks, getting up from her chair.
"I guess you underestimated my sister," Kara says, glaring at Malverne. "Let's go," Kara turns and marches towards the door.
Maggie pauses, turning to study Malverne.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Malverne says, his gaze flicking between the Danvers' sisters and Maggie.
"You're delusional," Kara turns to face Malverne. "The second we get back here with (Y/n), you're going to prison with your dad."
Malverne shrugs, looking at the table in front of him. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
Kara strides the room, but Alex and Maggie study Malverne.
Maggie and Alex runs out of the room. "Watch him," Maggie tells the guard as she runs past him after Kara. "Hey, stop," Maggie tells Kara. "Malverne still thinks he's in control," she tells her.
Kara turns, looking highly annoyed with Maggie at this point.
"He's not acting like someone who just lost," Alex adds. "He didn't even flinch. It's like he expected this."
"No, no, no, we are not listening to that psycho," Kara says, walking closer to the two. "Every minute we wait for matters."
"I - I want to get her as badly as you do," Maggie retorts, "but we can't punch our way out of this. We've got to get this right."
"If the shoe were on the other foot, (Y/n) would already be out the door. I'm not waiting," Kara argues.
"You're not the only one who cares about her!" Maggie says, her voice rising.
"I'm going!" Kara yells over her shoulder as she strides out of the DEO, Alex running after her.
Maggie swallows thickly and looks at the ground.
. . .
Alex and Kara smash through the roof of a warehouse, and (Y/n) hears the thump on the ground. Kara lets go of Alex's arm.
(Y/n) scrambles to her feet. "Kara! Alex!" she shouts.
"(Y/n)!" both the sisters yell.
"I'm down here!"
Kara runs over, pulling a sheet of metal off the floor.
(Y/n) hears the noise and looks around hopefully, but she doesn't see anyone coming to her aid.
All Kara and Alex see is a laptop and a countdown clock. The words, NOW YOU HAVE FOUR is spray-painted onto the wall.
"Four? What . . ." Kara asks, but there is a rapid beeping from the clock and the time now reads 4:00:00.
There is a grinding noise, and water begins spraying in from one of the pipes.
The twoolders Danvers' sisters watch, terrified as their sister looks frantically around.
(Y/n) grabs her jacket from the floor and presses it to the pipe, hoping to stop the flow of the water.
. . .
Kara and Alex march through the door of the interrogation room, Kara's fists balled. Alex sets the laptop on the table, opening it and turning it towards Malverne.
"Where is she?" Kara crosses her arms.
Malverne shrugs. "I told you not to go down there . . ."
"Tell us where she is," Alex slams a fist on the table.
"I gave you thirty-six hours to break my father out of prison," Malverne relaxes in his chair. "But you didn't listen. So now, that room is gonna fill up with water in less than four hours. I think it's time you got moving."
Kara's lip quivers. "Let me talk to (Y/n)."
Rick leans forward and presses a few of the keys and there is a beep.
Kara turns the laptop around and leans down to talk to her sister through the computer.
"(Y/n)," Kara says, her voice quavering.
"Kara! Alex! I sent out a signal, I thought you were coming," (Y/n) says, the water up to her waist now.
"He re-routed the IP address. He sent us somewhere else. Do you have any idea where you are?" Alex asks, her eyes wide with worry.
"I was unconscious. I could be hours away or I could be in the city," (Y/n) replies, a frown spreading across her face. "I don't know." Despite how far (Y/n) was away from the camera, both Kara and Alex can see the fear on their little sister's face.
Rick leans forward. "(Y/n), it's Rick. I don't want to hurt you. I keep on telling your sisters that. Tell them to get my father, and this can all be over. You can come home and get dry."
"No. Alex. Kara. No," (Y/n) says, pointing at the camera. "You do not give that terrorist what he wants. You cannot let yourselves be blackmailed. You cannot open yourselves up to that, ever. Do you understand me? You're both better than me." Again, despite her words, her widened eyes display her fear and worry.
Maggie enters the room and, seeing (Y/n) on the screen, runs over. "(Y/n)!"
"Maggie!" (Y/n) calls.
"I'm right here," Maggie replies, her tone softening.
"Maggie, I need to speak to you alone," (Y/n) says, and Maggie immediately grabs the laptop and walks out of the room, cradling the laptop to her chest for a moment.
"Honey, everyone here is working hard and we're going to find you," Maggie says and her voice cracks. She sits down on the floor, her back against a wall.
"The water is rising fast and there are things that I need to say," (Y/n) says, looking up into the camera, her eyes softening as though she really was meeting her girlfriend's gaze.
"No," Maggie's voice cracks. "Don't start talking like this is the end."
"I don't want it to be, but in the case that it is . . ."
"It's not!" Maggie cuts her girlfriend off. "You're a badass, Danvers. And you're gonna figure out a way to get yourself out of there or you're gonna hold on until I find you." Maggie's voice quavers.
"Maggie, listen to me, please," (Y/n) tries again.
"No," Maggie interrupts, tears welling in her eyes. "W-we just started t-this, you and me, and i-it's not g-going to end. Not today. Not for a long time. We just had our first Valentine's Day and I wanna do more with you. I-I want more firsts." (Y/n) looks up into the camera again and she doesn't worry about wiping her tears. "I want to have a first vacation. We haven't even argued about where we're gonna go yet or how to load the dishwasher. Or what to name our first dog. Do you want to get a dog? A cat? Both?" The tears are falling freely down both women's faces now.
(Y/n) smiles slightly. "Both? Let's name the dog Gertrude." Her eyes sparkle with amusement.
"See," Maggie smiles, her expression watery, "there's a lifetime of firsts that we're going to do together. So, you hold on, okay? Hold on until I get to you. Promise. Promise me!"
"I . . ." (Y/n) starts but the video cuts off.
"What?" Maggie says, typing furiously on the keyboard. "(Y/n)!" Maggie, frustrated, throws the laptop to the ground.
"What happened?" Kara runs over where Maggie is sitting.
This distraught woman stands up. "I t-told you not to rush in. Now you've made things worse."
"I did what I thought was right," Kara retorts.
Alex, Lena, Winn, and Mon-El run into the hallway.
"I should have been heard," Maggie goes on, not noticing that the others had appeared. "I should have been listened to. I'm her girlfriend."
"I'm her sister," Kara snarls in return.
"And you think that trumps me?" Maggie questions, taking a step forward. "That you know what's right for her. I . . . I got her to be herself, Kara. I-I have j-just as much to lose as you. You should've listened to me."
Maggie turns around and storms away.
. . .
There is a beep as Maggie enters Malverne's interrogation room.
Malverne straightens, studying Maggie closely.
Maggie sits down at the other side of the table, crossing her arms and resting her elbows on the table.
"Under two hours," Malverne says, leaning back in his chair. "The clock is ticking fast," he comments.
"I know," Maggie replies, leaning forward in her chair. "And if it ticks down completely, we both lose. And I don't think you want to lose."
A ghost of a smile spreads across Malverne's face, "Neither do you." Malverne pauses. "I was wrong about Kara," he says. "She's too much of a Girl Scout to do what needs to be done. I misjudged her. Alex," he shrugs, "she can't do anything with Kara in her way. I may have discounted you. You're a cop. You could just walk into that prison and break my father free if you wanted to. You care for her."
Maggie simply blinks.
"I've seen that," Malverne goes on.
"Stalking us," Maggie says, leaning forward a bit more.
"The way you look at her," Malverne says, his expression softening a little. "The way your hand touches her hand when you're walking down the street."
Maggie's eyes water and she bites her bottom lip and looks down at the tabletop.
"Love can make people do things that they don't normally do," Malverne goes on. "So please, help us bring home the people we love.
. . .
(Y/n) could no longer touch the floor of her containment module, as so much water had flooded into it.
(Y/n) holds her breath, diving to the bottom to grab her belt.
She lets out a strangled yell as she tries to close the valve with the belt.
Her chest heaving, (Y/n) resurfaces, greedily gulping in air.
Wrapping the belt around her hand, she dives down and punches at the glass, trying to get it to break.
Getting desperate, (Y/n) pulls off her cargo pants, leaving her in a long-sleeved shirt and a pair of boxers.
Resurfacing again, (Y/n) uses the space left to tie the legs of her pants and fills the other end with air.
(Y/n) puts the makeshift life-vest over her head.
. . .
"Please tell me you have something," Alex says, emotion surging over her.
"We've literally tried everything, all right?" Winn says, his hair disheveled from the continuous motion of running his hands through it. "I've checked family holdings, bank accounts, call logs from the prison . . . There's nothing."
Alex lets out a suppressed sob, resting her head in her hands.
"I'm gonna talk to Maggie and see if she's got anything else out of him.
Kara looks at the computer monitor projecting the camera looking into Malverne's room, but (Y/n) isn't there.
"Where . . . where's Maggie?" Kara asks, and Winn and Mon-El turn to look at the screen.
. . .
Maggie glances around the corner of the prison wall but stops when she hears the guard's keys jingling together. She waits until the guard walks through a set of double doors to moves. She strides up to one of the metal pipes and places a projector in front of a camera so that the guards watching the cameras wouldn't see what she is about to do.
Maggie jogs through the projection, her face set in determined lines.
She blows the lock on Peter Thompson's door. "What the hell are you doing?" Thompson asks as Maggie grabs his upper arm.
"Taking you to your son," Maggie's voice cracks.
Maggie lifts (Y/n)'s raygun and shoots two cameras as she makes her way through the prison.
"Nice gun," Thompson comments.
"It's my girlfriend's," Maggie says shortly, pushing Thompson forward.
"Maggie, you know (Y/n) wouldn't want you to do this," Kara says in her Supergirl uniform.
"All I care about is getting her back alive," Maggie says, her eyes burning. "You were right, sometimes words don't work."
"Sometimes punching doesn't either," Kara counters. "She just came from your son. She was with him all day, trying to turn him," Thompson turns to look at Maggie, "make him understand. You know what kind of words your son's been using? Words like 'rescue' and 'love.' He says he wants to rescue you, like you rescued him," Kara steps forward, her arms crossed across her chest. But if he kills (Y/n) Danvers, he'll never be rescued. He'll have to live with that for the rest of his life. And that'll be his hell," Kara's voice softens. "Now, you've done a lot of bad things in your life, but you've done one thing you can be proud of. You were a father. A good one. You were there for your son during the toughest time of his life and that's what you need to do again now. If he kills her, you will have failed at the one good thing you've done with your life. Be a father now."
A timer beeps on Maggie's phone, and fear strikes through her. "She's out of time."
"Please, is there anywhere he would have taken her?" Kara asks.
"There's one place," Thompson says.
. . .
Maggie, Alex, and Kara open the garage door of the storage facility and they run in, Maggie freezing with horror at the sight of her girlfriend in the glass chamber.
Kara speeds over and puts a fist through the glass and all the water - as well as (Y/n) - flow through the hole in the glass.
(Y/n) coughs up water as she rolls onto her side.
"Thank God," Maggie says, pulling (Y/n)'s head into her lap. "She's okay. She's alright."
Maggie lifts (Y/n) head up as she chokes on the water, coughing it up. Maggie rests her chin on (Y/n)'s head, before pressing a few kisses to the same spot. (Y/n) grabs Maggie's hand and squeezes it weakly.
"You held on," Kara says, pressing her hands to her sister's pale cheeks; Alex grabs (Y/n)'s other hand,
"I-I h-eld on," (Y/n) stammers. Then she looks up into Maggie's eyes, which are soft with affection.
Maggie cradles (Y/n) head and presses her lips to her girlfriend's forehead.
. . .
The four women return to the DEO, (Y/n) asleep in the MedBay while Maggie stares out the window, relaxed by the soft patter of the rain and her girlfriend safe.
"Hey, you," (Y/n) says hoarsely and Maggie turns, relief evident on her face. "You okay?" she rasps.
A look of disbelief spreads across Maggie's face. "Am I okay?" (Y/n) asks softly, settling down in a chair and taking (Y/n)'s hands in her own, a look of tender affection on her face. "Are you kidding? That was really clever, with the whole Navy Seal thing with your pants. What was that?" Maggie smiles and (Y/n) laughs weakly.
"Well, I knew I just had to buy a couple of seconds," (Y/n) says, and a tear trails down her cheek. "I knew you were going to come."
Maggie' gaze softens.
"You didn't let me finish before, but I, um . . ." (Y/n) pauses.
"What?" Maggie murmurs.
"I just really have to say it now," (Y/n) continues.
"(Y/n) . . ."
"It's okay, it's okay," (Y/n) says as she sits up, Maggie shooting out a hand to help. Maggie tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and turns to gaze deeply into (Y/n)'s (E/c) eyes. "Those firsts that you talked about . . ." (Y/n) says, her voice a whisper because of how close her face is to Maggie's. Maggie nods, a soft smile on her face. "I want to have them all with you." (Y/n)'s eyes get watery. "I never want to stop having firsts with you. I love you, Maggie Sawyer.
"I love you, (Y/n) Danvers," Maggie murmurs, her eyes still watery.
Tumblr media
This is my new favorite gif of Kara
Not my gif*
All you remembered was seeing an unfamiliar planet, somewhere you didn't want to call home, ever.
Now somewhere in a grassy field, you sat unconscious, in the pod that saved you from death, while your home planet was destroyed a long time ago. You, while fleeing your home planet, followed another pod into the phantom zone, and stayed there long after it had gone. Left all alone, for so long, just like you had been before, left in the silence of space...
 ---
"Supergirl, we just need you to check it out." J'onn told Kara, as the Kryptonians sister, adding her opinion.
“We haven’t even classified it as a threat,” Alex said, warning her sister to not be aggressive, and Kara turned to leave but was stopped by J’onn.
“Oh, one more thing,” J’onn turned to address the Kryptonian. “We believe it to be Kryptonian.” The blonde froze for a moment and then turned towards the sky and flew away. Kara's mind was racing as her sister got on comms and gave her a location
“You be careful,” Alex said typing something into the computer and added in a whisper “-especially if they really are Kryptonian...”
---
You felt funny, a good funny, but it was- The feeling was so difficult to describe, almost like your whole body felt the happiness in your heart, but you weren’t particularly happy, your body was tingling in excitement though.
Feeling strong, feeling like you could do more than just sit around, you were getting used to the feeling of safety and strength rolling over you, when a shadow came out in front of your eye line and your eyelids peeled open, right as the top hatch of the pod, you were sitting in, came off and with it, a million different noises filled your head, making it feel like it was about to explode, as the feeling of safety went right out the pod. You screamed.
“I’m not here to harm you.” Said a strange voice in a familiar tongue. “Will you let me help you?” The same voice said again, it rang in your ears, and it fought very hard to stay at the forefront among all the strange, foreign noises trying to invade your thoughts. You looked up and saw a man with, jet black, almost dark blue hair, a red sheet swaying in the wind, attached at his shoulders, and a respected glyph laid upon his chest.
“Who are you?” You're not sure where you are or who is talking to you, the only thing that makes you feel a little bit better, is that he is speaking your language. “Where am I?” You asked the man in Kryptonese.
“You are on Earth.” He starts calmly, waiting a moment before proceeding, being careful to keep his distance. “What’s your name? I am Kal-el.” He smiles softly at you, speaking slowly.
“Earth…?” A weight fell in your heart, and a sudden sadness flowed through you, forgetting about the fear of your safety on this Planet. “Where is Krypton, Kal-el?” You asked, sadness in your voice without fully registering your thoughts.
Clark gulped, “I’m sorry, it’s all gone.” His words broke your already shattered heart, and for a moment all the thoughts and noise went away, silence was the only thing you could hear, before unconsciously speaking again.
“Where did it all go?” You asked the brave man, innocently. Kal-el couldn’t be the one to tell you, the pod crystal would explain it all to you in time.
“That is for you to figure out.” You nod your head at his words, there was somewhere in his voice that felt safe, felt trusting, it reminded you of home. You looked up and he held out his hand for you, pulling you out of the still smoking pod that carried you here, to Earth. The ground beneath you, felt so different under your shoes from how Krypton had, well from what you can remember of your former home.
“Clark?” Another voice said in the distance, not far from where you and Kal-el stood.
“It’s Kal-el here, Kara.” He held your hand lightly in the air.
“Ah,” Kara paused when she finally looked at you, knowing you couldn’t have been older than 15.“What’s your name..?” Kara asked you, resting her arms at either side of her suit.
The new girl had yellow hair, the same red sheet, and the same house glyph resting on the same blue as Kal-el, you now understood that she was trustworthy, if Kal-el knew her.
“My name is Y/n. Daughter of the House of Y/l/n.” You said, finally answering Kal-el’s long forgotten question.
”I am Kara, from the House of El, same as Kal-el, here.” She smiled tenderly at you.
“Brother and sister?” You asked, just as curious as you sounded, brow furrowed in confusion.
“Cousins!” Kal-el gives a laugh, as Kara walks closer to the both of you. Kara gives you another smile and turns to her cousin, speaking in a language you had forgotten was stored in your memory.
“Alex wants me to take her in, just to watch her for now. Make sure she’s safe.”
“Are you sure? The farm could always use another pair of hands.”
“Yeah,” Kara reassured him. “I don’t want something to happen, and I mean- I am stronger,” Kara smirks at her cousin in a serious moment.
“Yeah, yeah..” Clark shook his head in a playful annoyance. Kal-el turns back to you saying, “Y/n, you will go with Kara,” You take a step back, taking your hand away from Kal-el’s.
“We don’t want to hurt you, just to keep you safe.” Kara says quickly.
“This planet has people that can hurt you, but me and Kara are going to watch out for you.” Kal-el added to Kara’s statement.
“No harm will be done to you, Y/n. I promise, can you trust us?”
---
3 hours later
You sat on the ground, in a cell, with a tear-stained face, wishing Kal-el were here and that the horrible ringing in your ears from the silence would go away, with a sleeve of your Kryptonian clothes tasered off at a weird angle, letting your forearm show.
Kara was stressed out and you hadn't even been here for a day yet. Alex was dealing with the agents that had accidentally scared you. And you apologized in English over and over again, hoping that it would help.
Before J’onn or Alex even had a say, you were put in a cell by three other agents that were able to get you to calm down enough and left you all alone, freaking you out in doing so. When you heard the airlock seal and everything went silent, your head wasn’t so filled with noise anymore, but you felt as if your strength had been taken from you. The only thing you could hear was your breathing, before the bang of the door at the other side of the big room startled you, and just like that, you were all alone again. You didn’t even notice the green lights turn on until you couldn’t take the silence much longer.
Kara had been out for maybe an hour to go to CatCo and talk with a source about her current article, while you stayed at the DEO, in a cell, under green lights that made every part of your skin hurt, when Kara got a phone call and flew to the DEO with anger flowing through her veins.
“You put her in a cell?!” She shouted across the room. Startling most of the agents and making Winn wince in his seat.
“Supergirl, you need to know the whole story,” J’onn tried reasoning with The Girl of Steel.
“Don’t.” She cuts him off aggressively, walking up to main console area. “I told her she would be safe here. Not locked up for something she can’t control!” The Girl of Steel throws her arms in the air, out of anger.
“I’m not saying she should stay in the cell, but Kara,” Alex tried to reason with her sister. “she doesn’t have her powers under control at all.” Supergirl gives her sister an annoyed glance before saying anything.
“I wasn’t put in a cell when I got here, now was I?” She points the question to her superiors, who stay quiet.
“Where is she?” Alex takes a breath and leads Supergirl, silently, to your cell. Alex opened the door for her sister. Kara, being angry, and knowing what it was like to feel trapped, she couldn’t imagine what Y/n was feeling. She immediately opened your cell door.
“Y/n, come with me.” You shook your head at Kara’s words, trying to move away from the door, as you feel your strength start to creep back in.
“No. I hurt them. I don’t want to hurt the Humans.” You said trying to keep yourself from crying. Kara’s expression softened and walked towards you slowly.
“It wasn’t your-” Kara’s gaze shifted upwards, slightly feeling the posion from the green lights shining down on you. “Fault…” A new fueled rage filled with shock flowed through Kara. You didn’t notice Kara’s findings, but Alex did.
“Kara…” Alex put her hand over her mouth in horror, not aware of this till now. You weren’t listening to the agents, only could tell they were yelling at one another. All you knew was that of course you didn’t mean to but it was your fault.
“It wasn’t her fault!” Kara shouts at her sister, cutting the conversation to a close.
“Nothing seems to be my fault but look at what happened, before I got here everything was in perfect order.” You finally gave in to your tears and stuffed your face into your knees. Kara heard you, turning instantly, and took in the scene of you crying, underneath the kryptonite, pulled into a ball, she was almost brought to tears herself.
“Hey, Y/n, look at me..” Kara stepped forward, crouching down to be near you. “I promise you that things were never in perfect order since Kal-el and I got here a long time ago. Everything will be alright, just need some time to- Re-adjust, okay.” She smiles at you, as you lift your head slowly and nod, wiping your remaining tears away.
“Today I will teach you how to control your powers, but that also means being able to control your emotions too, think you can handle that?” You gave her a more confident nod. Supergirl walked out of the cell and you slowly followed, looking away from Alex, as you walked by, and out the door, following the red cape down the hall.
---
Two weeks later
“Y/n, Kara is going to be taking you with her today!” Alex said walking into the Med bay and over to the bed you sat upon.
“Where will we be going?” You sat on the bed uninjured in any way.
“You will have to ask her, I bet it’ll be a fun day!” You smiled slightly at the agent’s words.
“Will I get to see Earth, now?” Alex smiles, as she checks your last blood sample.
“Yes, and don’t worry you’ll get to see more and more with time.” You and Alex both, quickly, turn your heads toward the door; shouting coming from outside the room.
“You should understand that I am trying to keep my country safe, and without rules for the-” The door shut closed, as you and Alex both heard General Lane’s voice, booming from the level below both of you being cut off from the, now closed door.
You felt a ping of guilt flow through you, the General, that anger you heard from him was because of your presence, you knew it so.
“Kara, should be here soon.” Alex said, going back to her work, silently.
You had learned in the last two weeks that your being here had caused a lot more problems than anticipated, you had been told multiple times by Alex and Kara and some computer nerd, that you were not the problem, and that this was none of your fault. You were sure that it was your fault, but you wouldn’t let them know that. You knew they were trying to fix it.
Kara slipped in through the door letting a few booming words get past the doorway and closed it immediately.
“I’m here!” She smiled across the serious room.
While kara was all smiles, you could only think of how this was all your fault but you couldn’t do anything to fix it, you didn't have a clue where to start if you were to fix things.
“Are they still arguing…?” You asked, staring blankly at her. Kara nodded her head guiltily, and you rested your head in your hands, feeling defeated.
“Hey, let's get going, we're gonna have so much fun, today!” Kara put her hands on your forearms, and wiggled them gently, making you look up at her, while she tried to cheer you up.
---
The shirt felt weird, and the the sweater was going to make you suffocate. Anyways, you walked out to show Kara.
"Wow- Are you okay?" Kara asked when she noticed you're stressed face, and you shook your head.
"It's too tight." Kara rushed over and pulled the sweater off you, then giving you different clothes of hers to try on.
You weren’t sure how the other Kryptonian wore this every day, it felt like you would melt with, pants, a button-up shirt, and a sweater that made it feel like you had flown too close to the sun with Icarus.
“How- How do you wear this?” Kara chuckled at your question and walked over to you.
“If you're hot, you could try it without the sweater?” You nod in a hurry and she pulls it over your head, then putting it away as you speak.
“Do you have a breakfast?”
“Do I have a-” Kara started to repeat your question, before she realized what you were asking. “Yes, I do! Do you like pancakes?” Your face lit up with excitement, shouting,
“PANCAKES?!” Making Kara jump a little, but smile all in all at your excitement. “I love pancakes, so much” You sat down smiling, happily awaiting your pancakes.
-
“Okay, last thing is glasses.” Kara moved over to her bed, after cleaning up breakfast.
“Oh, that’s okay Kara, my eyesight is perfectly fine. I can even see through walls.” You took a bite of pancake.
“No, it’s not for your eyesight-”
“Are they spy glasses then?” You cut her off with your curiosity and a mouthful of pancakes.
“No, let me finish this time.” She gave you a strict look.
“Right, sorry.”
“Thank you. The glasses are for hiding your identity, so then if you ever want to be a superhero like me, no one will tell the difference between you and your superhero counterpart.” There was an awkward silence between the two of you for a moment.
“Can I talk now?” You asked innocently.
“Yes.” Kara breathed out, trying to hide her smile from how wholesome you were.
-
You touched down unsteadily on the concrete ground, wearing some of Kara’s clothes and a rain jacket, even when it was nowhere close to raining, with nice clear blue skies, but Kara wanted to make sure you wouldn't be cold. The dark color of your jacket was a large contrast from your lighter shirt and jeans, making you pop from the dimness of the backstreet you now stood in.
Your eyes scanned everything, the grove in the rocks, small piles of trash scattered around, a tattered, worn, pink couch that you knew wasn’t top of the line but was more comfortable than most, the steam coming from a mysterious place in the wall, the little pieces of grass swaying in the wind that blew by you invisibly and all the different textures of dirt, bricks and the fresh sounds that came with this brand new location on Earth.
“Come on, Y/n/n.” Kara gestured for you to follow her out towards the world, with tall buildings all around, the part of the world that was much more colorful, and warmer feeling, than this place, far from this place in between two large bricks..
To Kara this part of the world was always more chaotic, more noisy, more littered with people, more enemies around, and more threats. But to you, it was the best most exciting, most-
“What’s this?” Had been your question of the day, wanting to know the answer to all the different objects you had encountered, big or small, yearning to know what they were, why they looked like that, and how they worked. Even trying to go and touch a snake you found before being hissed at and scared out of your mind by its aggressiveness. All you wanted was to pet it.
“That’s a pen, Y/n.” Kara said, taking no more than 5 seconds, away from her coffee, to see what you were holding up and noticing the confusion plastered on your face.
“What is its function, though?” You examined the pen closely, not sure what it could be, while Kara moved all her things into one hand and looked over at you.
“It holds thoughts on paper.” She took it from your hands, and you almost grabbed it back, but waited, hoping she would read your mind. She uncapped the pen, writing out both your names on a paper she needed for work, while you stared in awe, but that was soon interrupted by a shout, as the elevator doors opened.
 "Keriaaa!" Cat yelled for what seemed like the millionth time, before walking out of her office, hands on her hip, as Kara ran in, with you behind her.
"Miss Grant! I am so sorry, It will nev-".
"Who," Kara was cut off by Cat "is that, keria?"
She looked at you, suspiciously with a pointed finger. Kara hadn't thought about having to explain to Miss Grant about your being here.
"Y/n? She- uh-" Kara couldn't think. You poked out from behind the older Kryptonian and greeted Miss Grant with a small smile and a wave.
"Hello!" You didn't know she was supposed to be intimidating or a big respected news lady, not that you knew what the news was, to you she was just another regular Kryptonian, but this Krypton didn't have flying cars or anyone speaking Kryptonese and the clothing choices were very different, and no else could fly around like you could, so it wasn't really Krypton, but you didn't know anything else. Not until the DEO had told you everything you knew so far about this planet, which wasn't very much.
"Cousin! She's my cousin. Y/n is. My Foster Mom's, sister's daughter." Your face scrunches in confusion.
"I'm actually-" Kara swung her arm over your shoulder, bring you into a side hug.
"Hanging with me for a little while, for a visit, we don't see each other much." Kara pauses for a moment, "and my-".
"Keria." Cat said curtly as she nursed her newest headache "All this nonsense is making my head hurt, and all without my coffee." Kara hands the coffee over awkwardly and pulls you out of the room.
"Have I been calling you the wrong name this whole time?" Kara looks over at you, exhausted.
"No, it's Kara."
You think about it for a moment. "Oh, well I don't think the lady in there knows that.”
"She does." Kara lets out a sigh, glancing over into her boss’ office, pulling a spinny chair over for you to sit in.
You sat down and discovered that the chair moves in circles, without moving across the room itself. It was one of the coolest things you had ever seen. You spun in the chair a few times before stopping abruptly.
The phone was ringing, but to you that was the sound of death.
“Kar- Kara! What is that alarm for??” Kara was quick to assure you it wasn’t an alarm, and you didn’t need to panic.
“It’s just the phone ringing, Y/n, don’t worry.” Kara picked up the call, and immediately started drawing on a paper, with her pen. Which you now knew the function of; to hold memories on a paper.
-
You tapped Kara on the shoulder for the millionth time, when she finally turned towards you, staring daggers. You instantaneously backed up and left her alone until the phone call had ended.
“Y/n,” She whisper yelled towards you, “that was an important call. I need you to-”
“Kara, I really have to go the bathroom.” You interrupted.
“What?”
“Where is the bathroom?” Kara now understanding, showed you to it, so you wouldn’t get lost.
---
“Hey Kara,” Jimmy Olsen walked towards the blonde.
“Hey!” She smiled at her friend, starting to worry as you had been gone for almost a half hour, in the bathroom.
“Winn, might have told me some interesting news...” Jimmy makes a questioning face at Kara, before they are interrupted by their boss, who had noticed Kara’s little cousin was gone.
“Keria! I need you make sure layout has the right colors I sent them!” Cat yelled from her office.
“I’ll be back," She started to walk away, saying to herself "She should be back soon,” Her voice turns into a whisper. “hopefully...” As Kara gets on the elevator headed straight for layout on the floor below.
-
“Hello…? Kara…?” You walked aimlessly back towards her desk, as Cat waved you inside her office.
“Keria is doing something for me. So. Your Keria’s little cousin?” She takes off her glasses and invites you to sit on the couch. You sit and nod.
“Yes, I am her- Cousin.” You struggled to get the words out, not remembering how to articulate the new word. The older woman hummed in response and sat across from you, crossing her legs, one over the other, staring you down.
“Keria doesn’t talk much about family.” She pondered in her seat.
“I live- Far away, so I do not visit very much.”
“Do you stay for long when you do visit?” She questioned you, and you froze having no idea what to say.
“Uh not very long, usually just- Days.”
“Days?”
“One days, usually.”
“Kara is quite a lot older than you it seems, what do you get up to when she is at work all day?”
“I work, also.” You outright lied.
“You do?” She asked questionably.
“Yes, I do… Oh, and I am 14.” You said proudly, if you didn't know anything in the world, you would always know how old you were. “Kara is much older than me, yes. We are cousins.” You smile at her trying not to seem weird.
“Y/n!” Kara practically shouts your name from the doorway, walking in to meet you. You stood at her arrival and smiled at Miss Grant as Kara took your arm and pulled you towards her desk.
“What was that? Did you tell her anything? What did she ask you?” Kara was mad and slightly worried her boss knew she had lied to her.
“I just told her I am 14, and we are cousins.” You starting to walk towards your chair but stopped in your tracks.
“Keria. Do you always interrupt people’s conversations like that? We were learning so much about each other.”
“I’m sorry Miss Grant, Y/n has,” Kara takes half a breath and continues. “School work she needs to be working on.” The Girl of Steel really got out of that just by the hem of her cape.
-
The constant sounds of the squeaky chair, spinning around and around, started to irritate the girl with super hearing.
The world started to spin faster and faster around, your vision blurring and then it stopped. All quite suddenly, almost throwing you out of the chair. Kara tightly held onto the chair, digging her fingers in it just enough to get a good grip and stop the irritating noise.
“Can you, please, stop.” She begged you. “Once I finish this article, we can go around the city, do you like ice cream?” You had no idea what an icecream was, but you wanted to have some and nodded in response, but groaned at the world still spinning a bit before your eyes, slowing down by the second.
“Thank you.”
---
You ran down the curb of the street, a smile on your face, as you secured you and Kara’s spot in line for ice cream. You curiously watched others walk away with happy faces, holding their ice cream from a triangle tube! You were excited to say the least.
Kara chuckled at you, “Excited?” she said walking up to you.
“More than! I’ve never ever had ice cream, even, in the history of all the worlds!” Kara couldn’t help but smile at your excitement for new things, knowing you would be learning about a lot of new things in the coming months, just as she once did.
“What?” You chuckled, noticing your new friend, observing you fondly.
“Nothing…” Kara said smiling, and continued to look you over, now understanding that you were going through what she did. The blonde made a vow to herself, in that moment, waiting for ice cream that she would always make sure you weren’t alone, like she had so often felt when she first got to Earth. Now she had a mission, someone to take under her wing and watch over. She never got that chance with her cousin.
You feel in love with ice cream, loving every part of it. Kara becoming your friend, along with Alex and the computer nerd, Winn, was one of best things ever! Everyday was fun, well the days without someone on the verge of death, were always a good time. Wether you were at the arcade with Alex, or at girls night with the scientist, named Lena, or just saving the day, when you were allowed to at least. And over time you were sure that one day you would call this place home, even if at first it wasn't so high on your priority list...
Hello! I just finished reading your newest chapter on ao3, where daemon names babey. And I was wondering, do you have a name for her that you think of when you are writing her? I know we have all nicknamed her babey, but does she have a proper name that you just omit in order to stick to the x reader ship? I think we are supposed to be imagining our own names whenever we read second pov stories, but my name of course doesn’t sound Valyrian at all so doing that ruins the immersion for me 😂 anyway, totally no pressure if you don’t feel like sharing, I’m just curious. Tia ❤️
HAIIIIIIII! Thank you so much for the ask!
I do generally leave it blank because I've shoehorned meself into the whole Reader-insert thing (and I am NOT going back to change it now, lol, I'd neck myself haha) and in the interest of keeping to convention in at least one respect, I let readers choose whatever their in-universe name is. Can be their own, can be a Valyrian name of their choosing.
But, because I see her as her own character now, I've always been partial to the name Lyaella. I read it in a Jonerys fic a while ago, and it's meant to be a mash-up of Lyanna and Rhaella, their mothers. I just like that the name sounds Valyrian enough to be a feasible Targ name, but not so similar to the existing ones that Babey ceases to be distinct. Plus, it's different enough stylistically from Rhae's name to be a compatible sibling name. Lyaella Targaryen sounds pretty in my ear, which is why, in my heart of hearts, I'll always call her that when I'm writing her.
Lyaella would be pronounced Lee-ELL-ah, and in High Valyrian, LIE-el-ah (like Lilah but with a delayed syllable in the middle, almost). It fits because the 'ae' sound in Valyrian names is usually an 'uh' or 'ay' sound in Common Tongue, and an 'ie' sound when said in HV. (Daemon = DIE-mon, e.g.)
But of course, readers are ultimately free to call her what they wish! Thank you so much for the question!
