Summary: A heatwave hits London

🌛For @moonknight-events MK Bingo Spring 2024 Event🌜

A/N: Set in London.

Warnings: Just some fluffy fluff, swearing, reader isn't american so there's a little playful celsius vs fahrenheit moment, jokey mention of foot stuff (which I am blaming @romanarose for, for no other reason that they are the Foot Stuff gender neutral King.), over use of italics, typos, not beta read, railroad sentences, please let me know if I've missed a warning!

You sigh heavily, shoulders slumped as you just stand in the chilled food section of sainsbury's. 

Despite it being a little after 8am London was so hot  it was like it was trying to rival the surface of the sun. 

And the humidity… disgusting. 

Why did you have to live in one of the seemingly dampest countries that still expected people to work and use public transport and just live without most buildings and businesses not having air conditioning. It was inhumane. 

Jake appeared at your side, grinning. Despite the oppressive heat (given that it was quite cool in the supermarket) he somehow managed to not melt into a puddle on the floor. 

“How are you not sweating?” You grumble and he laughs. 

“I sweat.” 

“You’re a fucking liar, you know that?” The smile in your voice made him laugh louder. 

“Sure, sure. Hmm, maybe it's secret moon god perks?” 

“Tell Khonshu I will be his foot of the night or whatever if it means I don’t feel sticky and gross.” 

“Foot?” He wheezes.

“Yeah, you’re his fisting of the night and-”

Jake spluttered as you both walked to the self service machines. 

“I’ll be the one that does the kicking.”

“So,” he scanned the tub of ice cream, glancing at you. Thankfully there were practically no queues at this time on a Tuesday morning. “I’m doing fisting? But you’re just doing kicking? Shouldn’t you be doing foot stuff at the very least.” 

You tried to give him a look and not laugh. You did not succeed. “Can’t he at least make a breeze or something?” 

Jake smiled and shook his head. 

“What kind of god can’t even do that?” You grumble.

Jake pays and takes his receipt, holding your hand as you walk towards the sliding doors. 

“What if we don’t go, what if we stay and live in here? It’s cool?” 

“Can’t do that baby.”

“Why?” You grumble, pouting a little. You know what you’re saying makes no sense but the heat has made you grumpy. 

Jake snorts. “You’re looking forward to it. You’ve been talking about it all week.” 

“Yeah, that was before London decided that 38c was a good temperature.”

Jake opens his mouth, a shit eating grin on his face. 

“I do not want to hear about fahrenheit. Or  how it was hotter in America when you were there.” 

He blows a kiss to you. “You know me too well.” 

“Hmm. You’re predictable more like.” 

He mock gasps. “I’m insulted.” 

“You love it.” 

He smiles again, squeezing your hand in his. He does love it. Loves that he’s put down roots. That you can guess what silly comment he’s going to make and tease him for it. 

The air outside of the nice cool supermarket hits you like the air of a just opened oven. Two steps out and you’re already sweating. 

Jake leads you to the brick wall slightly down the road, the one that is bathed in shade by an old magnolia tree and sits, encouraging you to do the same. 

He takes the lid of the ice cream carefully. 

“What are you doing?” 

“Eating ice cream.” He says matter of factly, “you want some?” 

“How you gonna eat that?” 

“Ahh,” he grins again and pulls out something from his pocket with a flourish. It takes you a moment to recognise it as a swiss army knife. “Glad I can still surprise you.” He flicks it open and shows you a small metal spoon. 

You laugh. “Very impressive.”

“As long as you don’t mind sharing my salvia.” 

You pull a pretend thinking face for a moment that amuses Jake no end. “Hmm, well considering some of the things we’ve done… I think I’m okay with it.” 

“Good.” He digs the spoon in and then holds it out to you, letting you have the first bite. 

You lean forward, but dart to the side at the last second and steal a soft kiss from his lips. He was the sweetest thing around anyway.

Note: When I was reading for the scandals or rumours. The cards aren’t cooperating with me. Good lord. I had to reshuffle over and over again. Damn. A member is not letting me pick a card. It’s like he doesn’t want to know or let other people know about any rumours or scandals. This member to me, feels like he doesn’t want to think about anything else but work.

Overall, 2024 is still a challenging year for RIIZE. But the members are mentally stronger and prepared. It looks like the energy they felt in 2023 might bring them closer together. It feels like they’re embracing each other and having each other’s back. It’s giving “We’re in this together” vibe.

Open communication seems to be a key element in 2024. It seems like 2024 is the year RIIZE might have to start communicating. Perhaps frequent communication between the members or their management (SM Entertainment) might happen often this year.

Noriko Dolion was prepared at every hour of every day.

No matter what anyone thought of them, none could deny how formidable Noriko was at getting things done. Especially on behalf of others.

A man so formidable that it's seemingly impossible to turn him off kilter.

Almost.

When you're someone like Victoria Shard, you're able to do that rather easily. With how enamored Noriko was with the woman, it was no surprise that she had them wrapped around her finger.

A love for a woman that was so strong, it bordered on obsession. To Noriko, Victoria was their everything; their love, their everything, the Goddess that they'd worship at their feet.

Noriko would do anything for Victoria, as will Victoria with Noriko.

But to say Noriko wasn't caught off guard upon receiving a letter from Victoria at the earliest of mornings, was an understatement.

Now, to be clear: as bewildered as they might've felt, that didn't necessarily prevent Noriko from preparing themselves and readily sneaking out of Heartslabyul at her bequest.

They met with Victoria at the entrance of Pomefiore. With a ghost-like, gleaming smile on her face, Victoria guided Noriko deep into the forests of her dormitory.

“I never pegged you to do something like this, My Lady,” Noriko cautiously crossed the forest, hoping that his words didn't offend Victoria.

How fortunate that she chuckled in reply. “Well, it's better to expect the unexpected, don't you think, Nori?”

“How correct of you, My Lady. Forgive me for doubting your judgment.”

“You need not apologize, Nori,” with a picnic basket in her hands, Victoria turned to face the knight behind her and amusingly tapped the tip of their nose.

Noriko felt their face burn from embarrassment but quickly shook it away so as to avoid making a fool of themselves.

Their sword remained in its hilt, readily available when certain precautions needed to be met. In the face of danger, Noriko would fight for Victoria — ambitious, cunning Victoria — until their last dying breath.

As their softened set of ambers glowed in the darkness, Noriko eyed the basket in curiosity.

“If I may ask, My Lady,” they caught up to her, their hands behind their back in a militaristic form, “why are you bringing a picnic basket around?”

She did very little to mask her amusement at Noriko's question. “You'll see, Nori.”

They were going to ask what she meant by that, but words fell short as Victoria guided them to her desired destination — releasing a small giggle at how Noriko's jaw went slack.

At what seemed to be in the more hidden parts of Pomefiore's forests, lived a semi-large lake that reflected the crescents of the moon.

“I….” He gulped, taking a slight step back as he took in their surroundings.

Victoria felt content, her smile slowly becoming less and less hidden under the moonlit sky. “Beautiful, isn't it?”

Now, Noriko's eyes were no longer on the environment that stood before them.

A pair of ambers met a set of sapphires.

“Yes.”

They took a step forward. In every way that mattered, there was never a moment where they weren't utterly breathless for her.

“Beautiful, indeed.”

They settled underneath a tree, setting up their midnight picnic there due in part to Noriko's slight paranoia that it could potentially rain.

Victoria indulged in chocolate-covered strawberries, releasing a grunt of satisfaction at the way the flavor melted against her tongue.

She looked at Noriko, and placed a strawberry onto their hand, as well. “Go on, Nori.”

“Oh, My Lady, I could ne-”

“I insist, Nori.”

Well, they certainly couldn't argue with that.

They thought about Victoria a lot. Maybe to the point, it started becoming borderline concerning.

A certain Octavinelle student would've absolutely made fun of them for sneaking out so early in the morning to spend time with Victoria.

They were hopeless. They were at Victoria's mercy, and they wouldn't have it any other way. They wouldn't want it any other way.

“... I'm sorry.”

His head whipped to look at her, stiffening at the unexpected apology. One that didn't feel quite warranted. “My Lady-?”

“I'm sorry,” Victoria reiterated, “for making you do this for me.”

Sneaking out. The picnic. The risk of breaking the rules for her.

A regretful form of a smile graced her bearings. “In all honesty, I have a lot to apologize for, Nori. More specifically, I have a lot to apologize to you.”

“My Lady.”

She was but an archer, a hunter having to bring animals to an untimely demise for survival. Because if she doesn't, she'll simply starve.

I find it amusing that woo asks ming to tell bum replying his messages in the radio, when, bum doesn't respond to ming that much much either...things change. Ming now joins the competition and it is not going to be easy. He knows it too well. And He is determined to succeed.

But ming is exploring, slowly and surly because we know ming isn't someone just gives up. I am also glad that the Queen of wands shows up because this demonstrations ming's will power to "dig to the end of it."

Marc snaps his eyes open and glares at Steven in the far-off mirror. “Fuck off.” He thinks hard, and Steven doesn’t have to hear him to read his expression.

“I’m just trying to help, mate.” He holds up his hands like all he had done is hold the door open for him or something. 

Marc glares harder, about to flip him off when you pull back from the kiss. 

“You okay?” 

Marc swallows, “Sorry, I, erm…” He hadn’t realised you’d noticed his distraction.

You smile at him and stroke his cheek. "You know, we don’t have to do anything,” you shift a little on the bed, giving him a fraction more space.

“No, no, that wasn’t…” he gives you a small smile in return and leans forward again to kiss you. “Steven, I need you to be quiet now, okay?” 

“I was just-”

“Steven.”

He tuts. “Okay, okay, I promise.” 

Marc inches a little closer, recovering the space you’d previously offered up. His thigh nudges against yours and you let out a little moan into his mouth as he swipes his tongue over your bottom lip. 

He didn’t know why he felt so nervous, anxiety like eels swimming in his belly, you were Steven’s girlfriend (and technically, his now? Or was that too forward?) you’d been in this bed, with this body before. And strictly speaking, Marc had looked in on you and Steven a few times in more… intimate moments. Accidentally, of course.

He tries to clear his head, to be more in the moment, and runs his hands down your back as he presses closer, leaning into you slightly to urge you to lay back onto the mattress. 

You move with him, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and pulling him against you. Parting your legs slightly so that he can situate himself between them. 

He nips lightly at your lip, licking softly but confidently into your mouth as he just grinds his hardening cock against your core. Oh, and your barely muffled moan is delicious, the way you dig your fingers into his shoulders makes his head spin, if-

Marc tries not to let the interruption show, but he jumps a little when Steven speaks and it’s impossible for you to have missed it. A small thorn of anxiety settles in his chest, piercing between his ribs.

“I’m just giving helpful tips!” He can feel more than see Steven shrug his shoulders. “You’re the one without any game.”

“Without any game? I’ve got more game than you.” 

Steven sorts. “Unlikely. When’s the last time you got laid? God only knows. I, however, had sex this morning.” 

“Steven.” 

“Just saying.” 

“Yeah, well, I'm gonna be having sex in a minute, so shut up.”

There was a moment of blissful silence and Marc let out a breath of relief. 

You hooked your legs over his hips, urging him closer and bucking up so that you could grind against him. The heavy drag of his jeans sending sparks of pleasure along your spine. 

He slips his left hand down, sneaking the tips of his warm fingers under your top and stroking at the soft skin of your side. 

“She’s ticklish there.” 

“Steven-”

You can’t help but giggle a little, squirming away from his touch and breaking the kiss. “Sorry,” you bite your lip, “I’m sorry, it’s just-”

“You’re ticklish.” Marc finishes and you nod smiling. 

“Sorry.” You mouth again. 

Marc shakes his head and smiles as he leans back down. “It’s fine, don’t worry.” He moves his hand away from your side. 

He’s barely pressed his lips against you for a second before Steven speaks again. “Told you.”

Marc inwardly grunts, rolling his eyes as he kisses along your jaw to your neck. He nips lightly at your skin, before sucking gently.

“Bit lower mate, that’s the spot.”

Marc scowled but followed the instruction, hatching onto the spot Steven suggested and you moan loudly, arching your back off the mattress. 

“See, she really likes that. Now if you just move your hand down and-”

Marc clenches his jaw instinctively, letting his frustration bubble over. Unfortunately, your neck is still between his teeth when they snap shut. 

You let out a little gasp of pain and Marc nearly blacks out from panic, instinctively moving to jerk backwards and away from you. But your arms tighten on his shoulders, your thighs clenching around his hips. 

You whimper and buck against him instantly. “Marc, fuck, please do that again.” 

He relaxes, tension easing out of his limbs as he growls faintly and does as you ask. 

“It’s okay mate, really. She’s not made of glass.” 

“Steven. I’m fucking gonna-”

“Hey,” Steven protested, “look, I don’t mind when you’re watching us go at it all the time, yeah?” 

Marc flushed. “I do not.”

“Yes, you do. And don’t think you’re being sneaky about it either. I can tell.” 

“I don’t mean to, it’s just…”

“Just what mate?” 

“It just… happens.” 

“Yeah, right.” 

Marc stays quiet, knowing that whatever he says won’t make him look good. He tries to ignore Steven, to just focus on you. To grind against you just right. But he could feel Steven hovering just in the background. 

You run your hands through Marc’s hair, pulling highly as you writhe under him and he can’t help but risk a sneaky look up at you, at how your eyebrows are pinched together, eyes closed in pleasure and…

Was it real? Or was it just for show? Did you always look like that when Steven…? He thinks back trying to recall the memories of watching in as much detail as possible.

You can tell. He’s so sure that you can tell. Even if you are moaning and writhing against him, you must know. Must sense it. How out of alignment he is. How much of a failure. 

“Steven?"

There’s a fraction of a pause before he answers. “Hmm?”

He can feel Steven’s frown.

You pull back for a second, just to lift your top up and over your head before dropping it to the side and his breath catches in his throat. 

“Trousers.” 

Marc all but jumps despite the soft tone of Steven’s voice and he quickly snaps his eyes away from your skin to focus on undoing your pants.

You grin at his eagerness and help him by wiggling out of your trousers and kicking them off your feet. You kiss Marc’s neck, your hands moving desperately to his jeans. 

“Touch her.”

Marc lets out a little moan as you suck on his pulse point. “Wha-”

Marc’s left hand moves under Steven’s control, slipping his fingers under the elastic of your panties and pressing two thick fingers inside of your heat. 

You gasp in surprise, your thighs twitching at the sudden intrusion, shifting wider to allow him easier access.

“Slow circles.” He mutters under his breath, almost inaudible. He glides his fingers back and forth, barely leaving you before pushing back in, revelling in the sound of your wetness. 

You buck and whine, grabbing hold of his forearm like you were hanging onto a lifesaver. “Marc- ah, please!” Your words are cut off by desperate half choked sobs.

What's up, gamers. Every so often, I get asked for MK comic recommendations. I'll include links to a couple of really good reading guides from the subreddit (that I had Zero hand in making) and toss my two cents below. Not that it'll buy you anything.

TL;DR: See reddit below, be sure to check out the Excel master list of appearances. Most of the quality runs has been printed in omnibus, Epic Collection, trade paperback, Marvel app. You know.

I read everything on the below list. I have my opinions. If I tell you not to read something, it's because I don't like it. But I'm also some Jewish singlet/non DID/OSDD guy on the internet.

Here are some articles by a system who is a fan of the Moon Knight System.

Okay, finally, the list

Werewolf by Night (1975) #32 and #33. First appearance.

Marvel Spotlight #29

Hulk Magazine #13-15, #17-18, #20-21 (they're the backup stories, so if you're 'online' search and read by Hulk, scroll halfway through the issue)

Marvel Preview #21

Moon Knight (1980) #1-38 written mostly by Moench and drawn by Sienkiewicz. "But Cory, why are we reading all these old comics?" Because while different words are used now, the writers of the first run do really well at making Marc, Steven, and Jake a system. Iconic rogues are introduced. Marc's first backstory in #37 and #38 is the perfect backstory, imo.

Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu (1985) fucking sucks but #6 is great. So, read #1 so you know what the plot is and #6.

West Coast Avengers (1985-1994) goes here. The first time Khonshu is more than just some weird statue. Also includes Tigra and Marc kissing. MK is in issues #21-41, which is collected in 3 different Epic Collections and at least one is out of print because someone in Marvel hates me specifically /jk. The Epic Collections are titled: Lost in Space-Time, Tales To Astonish (out of print), and Vision Quest.

Marc Spector: Moon Knight (1989-1994) is 60 issues and it gets borderline unreadable about halfway through. That being said, the first half has some great stuff. So honestly, read a few stories from it, get tired, and know he dies at the end. Then read

Resurrection Wars and High Strangers - two separate mini-series by Moench because they killed his boy. Walks back some of the MS: MK things to the 1980s days.

MK (2006) is 30 grimdark issues. The first 13 issues are usually all I can stomach. Marc gets injured, kills Bushman in an extremely violent way, and has substance use issues. He also is extremely violent, lashes out/pushes away his original cast. The run is hella ableist.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2009): The most Marc acting Jake Lockley in existence, coming back from a stint in Mexico at the end of MK 2006. Some retcons. It's. Fine.

Secret Avengers (2010) #19 is one of the only issues with decent MK. First sighting of Mr. Knight. Too bad it's by Ellis. The rest of Secret Avengers is ableist or he's not really there.

Shadowland: MK is an event tie-in. Does some retcons I like but also our favorite can't stay dead brother is back.

MK (2011) by Bendis. Don't read it. Steven and Jake are replaced by Cap, Wolverine, and Spider-Man. Why isn't addressed.

MK (2014): Marc's back from LA. Introducing Mr. Knight. As far as plot goes, it's mid. As far as cool art goes, it fucks. Do you like black and white suit? Marc punching ghosts? Bird skull Khonshu? Tell Shavley thanks. This run is mostly out of print on account that the first writer, Ellis, sexually coerced people.

MK (2016): Lemire and Smallwood. The dream team. It's set in the System's inner world. If you can only get one run in print, this is the one I recommend.

MK (2017): The Bemis run. Websites attach it to the Lemire run. It's not. Stop reading 2016 when issue #188 appears. It's shit.

Avengers (2018) #31-38. Age of Khonshu only is relevant for what Marc does now and his mental state.

MK (2021) wrapped at 30 issues in December 2023.❤️ MacKay gets it right the vast majority of the time. The art (inks and colors) are some of my favorite work around Sienkiewicz and Shavley. Like Lemire, MacKay ties in classic points with new directions.

Vengeance of the Moon Knight (2024) is the current ongoing from January 2024-???. Same creative team as Moon Knight (2021).

Print Options:

Omnibus is a heavy, oversized, hardback and contains a lot more issues. They also have some weird printing smell and texture. Epic Collections are standard sized, softback that has more issues than a Trade Paper Back (TPB). Make sure you read the back of the volumes so you don't buy repeats. Weigh pros and cons. What do you value/can afford? And the physical weight of the omnibus.

As of Spring 2024, there are currently 5 omnibuses with another on the way.

MK OMNIBUS: Volume 1 (1975-1980) - MK's first appearance, the backups from Hulk magazine, half of the 1980 run.

MK OMNIBUS: Volume 2 (1980-1985) - other half of 1980 run, MK: Fist of Khonshu

MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 1 (1989-1994) - #1-34 (out of the 60 issues), some Spidey, some Castle.

MS: MK OMNIBUS Volume 2 (1989-1994) - #35-60 and both of Moench's mini-series (Resurrection Wars and High Strangers) and 3 issues of Black Panther. Do I recommend this omnibus? Not really. After the first story in this omni (and even it is stretching it), it really does fall off that cliff. But, I got it because I wanted it on my shelf. Moench and Black Panther stuff helps soften the sting.

MK by Huston, Benson, & Hurwitz OMNIBUS (2006-2010) - all 30 issues of 2006's run and Vengeance of MK, and Shadowland.

Additionally, MacKay's 2021-2023 run will be published as an omnibus in October 2024. I'm only surprised it's happening this soon and without Vengeance but...We'll see what happens in Vengeance eh?

There are currently 6 (going on 7) Epic Collections for the pre-ehhhh... 2006 stuff. Everything after 2006 and Vengeance 2009 is far more accessible in Trades (paper or hardback) or single-volume for certain runs.

MK Epic Collection: Bad Moon Rising - early adventures pre-1980 and the first 4 issues of 1980.

MK: Countdown to Dark: the Hulk backups and Marvel Preview #21.

MK Epic Collection: Shadows of the Moon - MK (1980) #5-23

MK Epic Collection: Final Rest - MK (1980) #24-38

MK Epic Collection: Butcher's Moon - tie-ins, solo issues, and MS: MK (1989) #1-7.

MK Epic Collection: Death Watch. Collects MS: MK #39-51, Divided we fall, and some other tie-ins. Yes, we do jump ahead from #7 to #39.

MK Epic Collection: The Trial of Marc Spector fills in some of Death Watch's gap with MS: MK #8-25 and that Punisher annual. It comes out in October 2024 as well.

For Lemire's run, there is a one volume softcover collection called Moon Knight by Lemire & Smallwood: The Complete Collection. This is the one you want.

OH. Oh I just had a thought. I was just looking at Marvel timelines, and … Multiverse of Madness takes place in November 2024 (after Halloween that year), and Werewolf By Night takes place after MoM (according to the recent Marvel Updates tweet), but presumably around Halloween time… That could mean that it’s set a year later in October 2025. Which would mean that it takes place after the events of Moon Knight, which are set in early 2025.

Could that mean… Is that why in the FYC interview, Mohamed said “very soon” and Oscar said “yeah” and then had to backtrack with a shrug… Maybe Marvel is just playing fast and loose with their timelines, and Werewolf is set in 2024. Maybe I’m just being way too literal, and reading too much into things, and I’m completely off the rails…

I’m whispering this very quietly in case Marvel hears me and kills my dreams but…

(If there is a Moon Knight reference in Werewolf By Night … could it possibly be Jake who’s in the Moon Knight suit??)

This.. does make sense because then Hawkeye was right before Christmas in 2024, Moon Knight at the beginning of 2025. And the thing is, if there did happen to be a Moon Knight appearance in Werewolf by Night, and we're correct in figuring our timeline here.. And we'd have to be, if they've already confirmed it's post MoM?

I'm literally freaking out about a rumored mention of Moon Knight on the news in a completely different show so if that's really all we get, whatever like it's not even an APPEARANCE. BUT. BUUUUT. I'll accept this because there are IMPLICATIONS. TWO OPTIONS.

This is Jake Lockley. I mean, both options involve him somehow and I'm NOT just saying that because of who I am as a person lskdgjslkgjs. BUT as far as who'd be fronting in that news clip, this very much would almost have to be Jake if we see nothing new between now and then. I don't think he'd have his own suit yet, unless they play around with what his might look like and give him something completely different then what we're all expecting. I don't think they'll do that though, I think they'll be pretty dead set on the black and white armor for post. I don't know what to call it, revelations, maybe? Post meeting? To give him a certain level of independence and distinction between Marc and Steven while wearing the armor.

This is all of them, coconscious, deciding on one person's armor. All three present, doing what they do best; saving people. While this would actually make my heart so full, I'm.. not leaning towards this one at all just because we'd have to get through a LOT of story to get to that point. And I'd be pretty upset if we didn't get to see that journey between the three of them, it's kind of the whole point, you know?

IDK MAN I AM JUST. Squinting at Diab's "very soon" comment that seemed a little too quick and completely out of the blue compared to everything else they've said. And Oscar's suspicious eyebrows every time someone asks. In the meantime, I'm gonna continue to look like this:
