Imagine there's a kid at your school that seems to have no energy at all... they'rel iterally bored always and doesn't talk to any people except a few guys. You don't see them physically present in the world at almost anytime. They look like they question their existence when you see them.

Then at a school match, you see them on a team. You think they're a substitute. You think they won't perform at all in the game. But they are not a substitute. They're among the playing team. And they turn out to be the MVP. Literally the most cunning player on the court. The entire crowd cheers for that one person who they thought didn't do anything at all. And what's more, that person is in full form during that game, delivering the best play, devising the most cunning strategy.

Rewatching Haikyuu and I'm reminded of the fact that even when the Little Giant was on Karasunos team, Karasuno never won against Nekoma. So Karasuno winning against Nekoma is even more bittersweet 😭❤️❤️

Not to mention that they hadn't even faced in an official match until then! The trashcan showdown is my favorite discussion topic.

ok this is gonna be an incomprehensible ramble but i am insane over this kind of parallel? like. the first time they play nekoma, coach nekomata gives this speech: it's not the team with the most aggressive point-winning plays that wins. it's the team that lets the ball hit the floor that loses. which is fucking INSANE because nekoma fucking loses not because of their lack of aggression but because they let the ball hit the floor. it's not about a blocked spike or a quick attack or a service ace, it's a simple mistake where the letting the ball hit the floor means defeat.

i just. like. from the very very very beginning, this is the only way this game could have ended. it's all coming full circle. one of the greatest things about this game is that we see nekoma being on the offensive in a way that they usually aren't, and that's one of the most satisfying parts their nationals arc. but it all comes so so full circle because nekoma has this amazing growth--the synchronized attack, everything about yamamoto and fukunaga, lev's teamwork moment--but it also comes back to the very beginning. it comes back to the most basic principle: not letting the ball hit the ground.

anyways. people have probably pointed this out already but i'm only noticing it on a reread and man. it makes me insane.

being able to hit a powerful spike does not equal victory. it's letting the ball hit the ground that equals loss. and that's how nekoma wins the first time; it's the first thing that nekoma proves to karasuno. it's also how they, in the final battle, lose. that's so. it's so. this is genuinely one of the best told stories i've read, and part of that is because of all these kinds of full circle moments. it's so satisfying. it's so fun.

-the two of you met while you attended a ball at a third family!

- it was boring for you, so you just sat in the garden and he happened to walk by

- he is the youngest of the nekoma clan/family, while you're the youngest of the karasuno clan

- his father, Tetsurou and your, Daichi cannot help but worry for their youngests

- being kind of rivals, neither of your families were supportive of your relationship

- so Lev would sneak out to you, risking burning in the sunlight just to see you before everything and everyone comes alive in the dead of night

- he would bring you roses from his garden, tied with a ribbon

- your family, especially Daichi isn't fond of the gifts and surprise visits from this gentle giant

- so after a while sneaking out it is!

- this man is so clumsy, but so romantic!

- he probably writes you poems, but is too scared to show it

- the nicest dates, best locations

- it's just... The lack of preparation...

- he would definitely take you to dance in an old church and the two of you would get caught soon

- he left the doors open, dragged Kenma along to play the organ and Tetsurou quickly realised what was going on

- same for Daichi, seeing your empty room and some dresses scattered on the floor as you quickly tried to find something suitable for the occasion

- he would also take you on a midnight picnic

- which is actually just stargazing, with some food added

- he would lay down on a blanket and hold you while admiring the stars

-would even compare you to them, saying that the stars are no match for your beauty

- once the families slowly accept the relationship more, he would do his best to impress your father

- dance skills, knowledge

- he would also ask Alisa (don't ask how she's here if Kuroo's the dad, kay?) to give him some tips to charm you

- at the end of the night, 10/10 boyfriend experience

A two-part film....

Let's just see how much of haikyuu's story is left to cover:

1) Nekoma vs Karasuno

2) Fukurodani match

3) Kamomadai vs Karasuno

4) Brazil arc

5) MSBY vs Adlers

6) Final chapter with another timeskip...

Now, since the PV shows the manga panels of the msby vs adlers, and the final chapter, safe to say that they are aiming to animate from chapters 292 to 402.... that's three main matches. And two timeskips. In two movies.

Either they are gonna cut corners or the movies are going to be hella long. And I don't really like the idea of a movie for main arcs of any anime/manga....i am one of those people, living in a country where anime content is not hella popular or catered to. To put this into perspective, i watched JJK0 in theatres in June 2022....the movie was initially released in Oct 2021.

In terms of content, two movies don't make sense. And I know that the movies aren't going to be a great payoff. It won't do the story any justice. I'd rather wait years between seasons and see it being done right, instead of wanting to just wrap it all up.

I was personally expecting the Fukurodani match, Nekoma vs Karasuno and Karasuno vs Kamomadai in one season of 24 eps and the Brazil arc as an OVA, and finally a 12 episode season with MSBY vs Adlers and the final chapter.

I am happy that the anime is still continuing after the blunder that was S4. And the movie decision very well could be influenced by the poor performance of S4. (The art style and the animation style of S4, especially coming off of the brilliance that was S3, was just unsatisfactory). But seasons are always better than movies.

Hopefully the story is done justice to and it gets the treatment it deserves.

Here's to the continuation of Haikyu, I guess.
