Blurred Lines
Ever since I watched Trolls Band Together, I had a lot of questions sticking in my brain like gum under the tables or bleachers that can’t be removed. If you ask me, I treat these plotholes like a crime scene investigation or a science experiment in the laboratory. Sorry if there is too much information and scientific facts added to it because I found out that people with ASD like me prefer logic, accuracy, and clarity to guide my judgement because they’re consistent.
Tumblr media
With Queen Poppy and Viva, they look semi-identical based on their designs, which makes me see that they’re fraternal or identical twins. Identical twins, are meant to have identical DNA but they differ somewhat in appearance and are not the same in terms of height, physical features, and many more so yeah, that might make sense.
Maybe they were isolated from one another in the troll tree for their safety and Viva remembers Poppy more than her because she would sneak around to be with her. There wasn’t any evidence about who is older and younger but what I know is that Viva wasn’t targeted by Chef, it was Poppy instead. It might be due to Poppy’s status as the heir because I discovered that in a legal system based on primogeniture, which favors the inheritance claims of an eldest child or his or her children over the claims of other relatives, an heir apparent is generally the eldest child, who is entitled to claim the property and titles of his or her parent. While rewatching the first Trolls movie, I noticed that King Peppy, Poppy and the other trolls escaped in the morning of the Last Trollstice so Viva and the others might escaped late at the night when Chef was exiled and there were other Bergens living outside Bergen Town so Viva’s escape might’ve happened at that time. Come to think of it, some trolls are up and running when they hatched out of their eggs like ducks and horse foals (cough* cough* Tiny Diamond) and compared to us humans, troll brains absorb memories and instincts fast or faster like sponges.
Maybe Poppy doesn't remember much about Viva because she kinda looks like she has Autism and ADHD. I read that children with autism have memory challenges that hinder not only their memory for faces but also their ability to remember other kinds of information. That's the same thing I struggled with as well.
I also based this theory on my life experiences because as an eldest child myself, I experienced the things Poppy had been through as I grew older and I am shorter while Viva kinda reminds me of my younger, taller sister.
Tumblr media
I also read about sibling psychology and discovered that Poppy has more oldest sibling traits than Viva, who has younger sibling traits. I noticed in the movies and the animated series that Poppy exhibited the traits I listed, but she only has two youngest sibling traits, evidently mischievous and risk taker while Viva has two oldest sibling traits, usually cautious and conscientious. They both share the traits of fun loving and creative so I didn’t add them in my chart.
Tumblr media
With the BroZone, it’s obvious to see the details about who is older and younger among them because of the features I noticed. It was evident that John Dory spent his years alone in the wilderness, Spruce established a business and had a family in Vacay Island, and Clay escaped with Viva and the others on the night when Chef was exiled and lived in the abandoned mini golf. Floyd on the other hand, he must’ve wandered around on his own until he was found by Velvet and captured him to fulfill her plan to become a popstar, alongside Veneer.
Tumblr media
With Velvet and Veneer, they must’ve ended up that way because the Mount Rageon lifestyle is focused on partying and hedonism that they become victims of neglect and favoritism. Velvet was spoiled rotten by their parents, who were dentists while Veneer was often pushed to the side, causing him to lack willpower and only be a doormat for her when she cooks up schemes. Veneer possibly got Sparkles the goldfish as by the parents to shut him up while they spoil Velvet as if she was a treasure they can cherish and maintain. This had gotten worse possibly if the two experience bullying in school for being talentless.
Whatever my mind was thinking, all I know is that there are blurred lines in there.

Reminiscent ▷ [mayor x gn!reader]
CHAPTER 1: Yī 一
A certain lone flower from a distant past brings to light the Mayor's backstory, back when he was previously a loyal warrior under the emperor's rule.
SUMMARY After finishing your duties, you packed lunch up for your brother and head over to the training grounds to visit him after awhile. What wasn't in your itinerary was somehow bumping into their Chief.
━━━━━
(reader is implied to be a herbalist and has an older brother, cross posted from ao3)
You sweeped your floorboards and wiped the windowsills. You just dealt with the last client a few minutes ago and now you had the time to tidy your shop up before leaving. You arranged a few more bottles and jars on the shelves away from the edges of counter which they could fall and dusted your hands.
You finished your chores for the day, packing up the homemade lunch you made for your older brother you then headed out to the training grounds he'd stay whenever he's not out on patrol.
▬▬
You took a stroll on the meadow and sat down, your usual spot was a mountain cliff that was slightly taller than the walls of the grounds which gave you a clear view of what they were doing inside. Well, it was often just sparring or training so it wasn't much, yet it entertained you. Whenever you didn't have anything to do, you'd head on the cliff and watch as your brother trained with other fellow warriors. It was similiar like watching a movie of some sort. Sometimes while waiting for him, you'd pick up some flowers to make into a bouquet, or you'd pick up some nearby fruits.
Your brother knew of you coming to watch whenever he's still busy and waves at you anytime he spots you. Some of the warriors noticed you, others haven't, some don't care.
Yŭxuān. That was the name of your older brother by a couple years. He worked as a warrior under one of the emperor's favored men, (a.k.a Chief of War), and was currently turning 34 this year. He joined back when he was just 23 and ever since he had been working endlessly to be able to support the both of you ever since your parents both died. Since he would frequently injure himself, you took it upon yourself to become a herbalist.
A few minutes passed and you started to lay on your chest, head resting on your palms, your feet swaying and your eyes glided over to the man who were in front of the soldiers, commanding and ordering them as he paced around watching then with a stern gaze in his eyes. His look often intimidated new recruits or passerby's, it wasn't uncommon, he always had a composed and serious personality — often the talk of the town due to his success and fame of being one of the emperor's trusted men, often accompanying him side by side. He'd bring home victories from wars waging against other nations and his fighting prowess was not a joke and led him to be called the Chief of War.
It had been a few years since your brother had joined his army and time to time as you would visit your brother you'd see this cold man from time to time. Your interactions with him were nothing but quick glances and small, small talk. Comparable to waving at the guy you'd commonly walk by at the hallways at school for being in the same class with though never being generally close. He'd pay no attention to you of course mutually you also expected nothing from him.
You had gotten lost in thought and hadn't noticed that break-time has already begun. You sheepishly brushed the train of thoughts and picked up the lunchbox from the ground and made your way down.
▬▬
The training grounds were large consisting of multiple soldiers that could fit inside. You almost felt like an outsider, in which you are but that doesn't matter.
It gave off an aura of intimidation and you looked around to find your brother. A few soldiers noticed you and having recognized you as Yŭxuān's younger sibling they happily came and helped you find him.
You bid the two soldiers farewell and as you made your way to your brother, you weren't looking to where you were going and your shoulders bumped with another person. You turned to look at them and it was none other than their Chief.
“Sorry about that.” you said and bowed, the man stopped to listen. You managed to take a closer look at him. You didn't often had the chance to speak with him for longer than a few minutes. The Chief didn't fully turn to look at you. His side profile facing you and let out a small 'Mm.' before walking away, his blue cape following after him.
Odd guy he is.
Well, atleast that's done with. You returned to your previous objective and found your brother sitting down on the ground near the weapon racks.
“Yŭxuān!” you cheered loudly, running towards him, your brother noticed your approach and waved at you joyfully while wiping the sweat from his forehead. “Oh, Y/N.” he said calmly smiling as he stood to meet your height. “Sorry I haven't been able to come home recently, you know how things get around here.” he apologized, scratching the back of his head.
You shook your head, “Oh geez, don't you worry. I completely understand.” you said before showing him the lunch you prepared for him earlier this morning, “Also, I made you you a healthy meal this morning. Make sure to completely eat everything. I didn't suffer making this just for you to leave leftovers.” you teased and he chuckled. “Thanks alot, Y/N. What would I ever do without my most precious younger sibling?” he said being dramatic as he put a hand on the top of his forehead. You rolled your eyes and afterwards you both then decided to sit down on the grass right outside the training grounds. You observed as he began gobbling down what you made.
You giggled at him, “Looks like somebody's hungry.”
He rolled his eyes, “Shut up, Y/N.” he said in a joking manner. You both continued to chat and hurl light-hearted insults towards each other.
“Anyways, how's it been nowadays? I've been hearing from the folks that the demons around the outskirts of the kingdom are slowly turning active again.”
Yŭxuān looked up and thought about what to say, “You're right about that. For some reason the demons are getting rowdy again, but we already fended them off months ago. They don't often get back up as quickly as before so we've been wondering what's causing the change in their behavior.”
“Well?” you tilted your head.
He looked back down and sighed, “Still no clues. Due to how active they are, reports are turned in that they've started attacking nearby villages.” he looked at you with heavy eyes, “If it ever happens a demon attacks the village, you should run. Alright?”
He knew that if ever comes a time something happens to the village, you'd prioritize the health of others than yourself. It's one of your most known traits and one of your downfalls. If you believe you can save them, you'd try to save them even if that means getting harmed. And that is what your brother worries about.
“.. Alright. Got it.”
Yŭxuān's gaze softened a little, “But it'll be rare if that does happen. The village is situated near the outskirts of the kingdom, so if it does occur you can quickly inform a patrolling guard about it.”
You nodded then pointed at his meal.
“What..?” he looked at you confused
“All this demon talk and stuff but are you not gonna eat your chicken? It'll get cold.” you said.
Your brother huffed, “My goodness. Have you ever heard the term 'save the best things for last'?” you rolled your eyes at him, “Alright, yeah. What I care is that you eat that damn chicken, later on I'll see you handing it of to one of your friends.” you then heard Yŭxuān let out a quiet 'Ugh.. Fine.' before he then considered to eat the chicken.
Yŭxuān took a bite of the chicken using his hand and instantly kept on digging in. “How is it?” you asked grinning. “You can't keep on getting away with cooking good food. I don't know how you manage to pull it off.”
You shrugged, “I made a contract with the devil and sold my soul in exchange for otherworldly cooking skills.”
“...”
“...” You both stared at each other silently for awhile.
“Did you seriously believe that? I just follow recipes.” you said, breaking the silence.
“No it's not that, it's just out of all things you might have chosen, cooking skills is what you picked.”
“Look here, money and power are overrated.” you explained, “Wait hold on, did you actually sell your soul?” he said, convinced. “Obviously not. Why would I choose otherworldly cooking skills in exchange for my life?”
Alright, this conversation was starting to get weird. How'd you go from demon talk to contracts and cooking?
Whatever, atleast you enjoyed the moment. Times like this with your brother is often rare as he's always out in the lines protecting.
As you smiled warmly watching your brother eat, it also made you feel nostalgic back when you were both younger eating your mother's cooking back then. But suddenly, you notice something. You saw him put aside the cabbage you put in his meal.
“Hey, hey, hey. I saw that!” you said, “You better eat your vegetables. You think just because mom isn't here you'd be able to escape it?”
He whined, “Come on! I'm 33 goddamnit.”
You shaked your head, “No. I better see you consume that cabbage immediately.”
And 5 minutes went by trying to persuade your brother into eating his greens.
▬▬
Eventually, break-time was not forever and your brother had to return to attend his duties. “Well, time sure does fly fast. I'd best be going now.” he said, putting on his uniform. “Already? Damn, I thought we had only spent 10 minutes.” you said as you got up, “Anyways, I also have something to give you before you leave.” you told your brother. He turned his head and raised his brow, “What is it?” he asked.
You searched your pockets and bag twice and upon realising you left it at the cliff you were at earlier, “Shit! I packed you some medicine in case of rough situations but I happened to forgot I left it somewhere.” you said quietly as you looked at him panicking, “Yŭxuān stay here, I'll get something really quickly!” you immediately dashed right away and your brother was left in an array of confusion.
▬▬
You didn't expect that anyone would be taking the kit you left since it wasn't the most populated area, but your brother was about to head back and you didn't have much time left so you sprinted quickly and due to how fast you were moving you were unfortunate enough to not be able to see that something was infront only after did you realize after colliding with them and falling to the ground, the person you bumped into continued to stay on their feet, unbothered.
“Fuck, what the..?” you rubbed your eyes and looked up, “I—.. Who?” you were distraught as the man you'd often see commanding the other soldiers and whom was your brothers superior right before you in the forest. He was unfazed unlike you and held his hand out, you reluctantly accepted it and got up with a confused impression. You dusted your clothes and turned to him, “I'm sorry for bumping into you, Sir, I wasn't looking where I was going an—” you were stopped midway as he lent the box of medicine you were looking for earlier.
God, what was with you continously bumping into this poor man? He must think you're doing it in purpose or trying to get his attention..
“Ah, my babies! You found them.” you took them happily and looked at the familiar stranger once again. You glanced at him once more, for some reason he felt even lighter with your presence, he looked more calmer than earlier. You even noticed how he didn't bring his dao with him.
“You're Yŭxuān's younger sibling, am I correct?” he said directly. This took you aback for you were confused on how we would know despite the mininal interactions you both shared, counting earlier. You hesitated for a moment before answering, “Yes. You are correct, though, how did you know?” you asked. That question sounded stupid. Of course he'd know. “I seen you a few times speaking with him amongst the years he's been here.” he said.
Well, I guess it makes sense..
“I have also felt your gaze upon me during training sessions many times since the beginning. It's odd how not much had noticed we had a herbalist stalker watching me and my soldiers from afar.” he then added.
Oh god, he knows. You never really thought one the first "real" interactions you'd have with him was basically him calling you out for something you never sort of intended.
You basically froze on the spot, you never really thought you'd ever have the chance to speak with him yet here you are. You wondered if he was gonna murder you for doing that for years, you know how scary this guy could get, and now he thinks you're a stalker. A few moments of silence and you swallowed a lump in your throat, “I—..um, well.” you stuttered, “Look here, I never really wanted to spy on you, it was more like 'watching'.. Well, sort of.” you explained vaguely, he looked as if he found your little show amusing.
He spoke, “With all due respect, I don't mind as long as you don't do anything dangerous.” he said calmly, ending your thoughts of wanting to melt into the ground. You took a sigh of relief, phew, I'm not dying today.
“If you don't have anything else to say, I'll be leaving. I already spent enough time here and I must return.” he spoke.
“Hold on, wait. Could we perhaps go together? I also have to give these to my brother.” you asked, he considered for a moment before giving in.
“.. Sure.” he replied.
▬▬
Turns out, the Chief wasn't much of a talker.
A few minutes in and you could already feel the dreadful quiet sinking in accompanied with the lingering awkwardness. The dried leaves you crushed underneath your shoe when you stepped forward felt louder than usual and so were the sounds of the nature.
You're starting to regret walking back with him. Seriously, this is one of your most rarest moments with the guy and frankly the longest one yet. You have to atleast say something or make it more memorable somehow.
“Um.. Soo, what were you doing back in the forest? ” you asked. His eyes bore into you and once more it plunged into another quiet stillness.
Fortunately, instead of continuing his reserved persona he spoke. “I was taking a small stroll.” he replied flatly. They were not kidding when they said he was a little rigid.
You nodded, “Why the forest though? It's a little far from the grounds and it doesn't look very friendly for a stroll.” you said. Though even while saying this, you didn't mind the forest. You often went there to collect shrooms, flowers, insects and ingredients needed for your shop and even if you found it unsettling at first, it slowly grew on you.
Normally, other people would avoid the forest near the grounds since it was long, shrouded with large trees, murky and perceived as creepy. Nevertheless, it held loads of natural riches and rare plants. With this in mind, the Chief didn't seem to have the same sentiments as other people.
“This forest is isolated from any nearby villages, so people don't generally come here. The solitude is what I find preferable, the silence helps me clear my mind.” he explained. Wow.. “And.. I also find the surroundings and its florals here quite lovely to look at.”
Your eyes widened before agreeing with him, “Right?! I don't get why people don't come here alot, the nature here is pretty and the other wildlife here go hand in hand.” you started to ramble, not often is there someone that's actually interested in the forest. “And the herbs that grow here are effective in medicine, they're also flexible and I can make multiple different combinations of them.”Your eyes widened before agreeing with him, “Right?! I don't get why people don't come here alot, the nature here is pretty and the other wildlife here go hand in hand.” you started to ramble, not often is there someone that's actually interested in the forest. “And the herbs that grow here are effective in medicine, they're also flexible and I can make multiple different combinations of them.”
The Chief didn't expect you to maunder to him about your interest a second after he responded, but he didn't quite mind. He enjoyed seeing you even with the short interactions that built up amongst the years. He did not know when he became engrossed by you, but he dares not call it an attraction. Perhaps it was simply mild admiration for all your kind and selfless actions, or was it because of your caring nature towards your brother, or possibly your polite behavior? When this fascination began, he did not know but couldn't stop himself despite the reasoning to continue basking in this strange and mysterious feeling.
As you were busy talking about the different types of herbs that grow in the forest, what they could do and the different sorts of combinations you've made so far. You were too preoccupied in speaking that you didn't realize the uneven pathway in front of you. Due to this, you stumbled over on the uneven pathway but before you could trip, the Chief grabbed your arm and pulled you back to prevent you from slipping.
“You should be more careful.” he said. You pulled yourself together and he removed his hand from your arm, strangely, he felt an unusual sense of delight when he grabbed you. He shaked the feeling away.
You awkwardly chuckled, “Oof, sorry. I didn't realize the path was uneven. Pretend that never happened.” Did somebody wish you bad luck? What is with your clumsiness today?
“Don't worry about it. What's better is that your unharmed, come, we should be nearing the grounds.” he said softly, extending his hand. You took it out of courtesy and you both walked out of the forest, noticing the place in a distance.
▬▬
As you both walked on the grassy path a thought came to you.
“Ah! I forgot to introduce myself. The whole time we've known each other we haven't had the chance to formally introduce ourselves.” you scratched your neck, “I'm Y/N L/N.” you told him. He mused, “Hm, a pleasure to meet you, Mx. L/N.” he already knew your name from your brother but he suppose he could pretend and play along.
You shaked your head, “No need to refer to me by my last name. Just call me Y/N.” you smiled. “Well then.. Since I introduced myself first, suppose it's your turn now.”
“My name is of no importance or necessity, Y/N.” he answered, “You may refer to me as Chief. I do not mind.” he said blankly. You shrugged, “Oh alright.” you decided not to pry any further and enjoyed the walk back with him.
▬▬
In the end when you returned, you decided to make sure to spill everything that happened with him to your brother. (He ended up being very curious about it and asked alot of questions. At some point he thought you and his superior were actually secretly dating to which you said no.)
━━━━━
NOTE anywaysz to explain things more clearly since the summary I left off was to vague — this is an AU where the reader met the mayor in the past and you and him used to have an intimate relationship, unfortunately, you passed due to a decision the emperor conducted.
Ivory Lady (LBD basically acting as the emperor's advisor), approached the enraged Mayor as an opportunity to get him to serve her by promising to revive Reader, he agrees and the contract is sealed.
And well LBD never really explained the contract fully, and as Mayor grew stronger with power he eventually forgot his original reason to why he pursued the path he forged in the first place.
Centuries later, he comes across Reader in a different time where they are working as a barista in a coffeeshop that Mayor happened to be visiting. A sudden hit of nostalgia hits him and makes him wonder if he had left something or (someone) in the past he could never really remember.
Lastly this will be starting with the past and slowly progresses to the present
Until the next chapter!

I HAVE PERSONAL HEADCANNONS FOR LASKOS LISTENER (I don’t have an OC I want to but I’m not a drawer at all but I do wish I can make an OC)
- They definitely have like a small house that is like super comfy and have a small Orange rescue cat named Orange Juice and an axolotl named Candace (People have done the joke around them and they tell them that it’s not funny but it gets them every time)
- They have a younger brother who is definitely taller than them probably like 6’4 and when he found out that his older sibling has a boyfriend they are like “Sooo can I like see him? I’m not gonna judge him! I’m not gonna question him!…. Ok maybe I will-” Poor Lasko about to get bombarded with a bunch of questions
- They are an extremely good cook and baker! They are the type to cook and like sit down with their cat and axolotl and just eat dinner! I bet once Lasko had dinner with them he thought that his partner was just a chef at heart and just fell in love with them more
- THEY ARE A GOOD GAMER! Like is able to get even games of Super Smash Bros with Lasko (Like they win and he wins it like is every other they test their strength) and like Lasko would just watch the TV screen when his partner is playing animal crossing
- I think that when they've been together for months, they will become really really playful with each other (but not in the way where they both are uncomfortable). For example, his partner will be just working at their home just grading papers and shit and he just shows up behind them and just kisses them making them giggle. JUST ONE EXAMPLE I HAVE A LOT MORE!
- Their friends back in Kennedy are chaotic AF!! They have like elemental magic as well as someone who is part of the energetically group. They probably like called them like “OMG THIS GUY I LOVE HIM SO MUCH” and their girl best friend is like “SHIT IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU” and the guys are like “WHO IS THIS GUY?! Where does he live? What’s his security number”- ok not like that but they’d be protective of them but DW once they traveled to Dahlia and met Lasko for the first time they love him!
- I saw this in another post so props to them, but the listener CAN DANCE!! I say probably like modern, contemporary, ballet and even on pointe ballet! And once Lasko has seen them, bro was like nonstop looking at them! He doesn’t care about the other people (obviously he does but that’s not the point) it’s all about their partner and just looks at them in Awe
That’s all for now but as you can tell this relationship better work for Lasko or I will actually cry

Relationships of Ice and Fire: Incest and Inseparability
JAEHAERYS AND ALYSANNE:
Morever, Alysanne was only two years younger than her brother, and the two children had always been close and strong in their affection and regard for one another.
...
“As you command, Mother.” King Jaehaerys pulled his sister closer and put his arm around her. “But do not think that you shall unmake this marriage. We are one now, and neither gods nor men shall part us.”
“Never,” his bride affirmed. “Send me to the ends of the earth and wed me to the King of Mossovy or the Lord of the Grey Waste, Silverwing will always bring me back to Jaehaerys.” And with that she raised herself onto her toes and lifted her face to the king, and he kissed her full upon the lips whilst all looked on. (The Year of the Three Brides—49 AC, Fire and Blood)
BAELON AND ALYSSA:
The likeness faded as the princess grew older, however; long-faced and skinny, Alyssa had little of her sister’s beauty. Her hair was a dirty blond tangle with no hint of silver to evoke the dragonlords of old, and she had been born with mismatched eyes, one violet, the other a startling green. Her ears were too big and her smile lopsided, and when she was six playing in the yard a whack across the face from a wooden sword broke her nose. It healed crooked, but Alyssa did not seem to care. By that age, her mother had come to realize that it was not Daenerys that she took after, but Baelon. Just as Baelon had once followed Aemon everywhere, Alyssa trailed after Baelon. “Like a puppy,” the Spring Prince complained. Baelon was two years younger than Aemon, Alyssa nearly four years younger than him…
...
There had been some thought, after the tragic death of Princess Daenerys, that Aemon should wed Princess Alyssa, the eldest of his remaining sisters, but Queen Alysanne firmly put the thought aside. “Alyssa is for Baelon,” she declared. “She has been following him around since she could walk. They are as close as you and I were at their age.”
...
Their older siblings Baelon and Alyssa had become inseparable, and plans were already being made for them to wed.
...
Prince Baelon had not ceased smiling since his marriage. When not aloft, Baelon and Alyssa spent every hour together, most oft in their bedchamber. (The Long Reign—Jaehaerys and Alysanne: Policy, Progeny, and Pain, Fire and Blood)
AEMON AND JOCELYN:
Prince Aemon was seven years of age, a boy as tall and handsome as he was modest. He still trained every morning in the yard with Prince Baelon; the two brothers were fast friends, and evenly matched. Aemon was taller and stronger, Baelon quicker and fiercer. Their contests were so spirited that they oft drew crowds of onlookers. Serving men and washerwomen, household knights and squires, maesters and septons and stableboys, they would gather in the yard to cheer on one prince or the other. One of those who came to watch was Jocelyn Baratheon, the late Queen Alyssa’s dark-haired daughter, who grew taller and more beautiful with every passing day. At the feast that followed Aemon’s investiture as Prince of Dragonstone, the queen sat Lady Jocelyn next to him, and the two young people were observed talking and laughing together through the evening, to the exclusion of all others. (The Long Reign—Jaehaerys and Alysanne: Policy, Progeny, and Pain, Fire and Blood)
BRYNDEN RIVERS AND SHIERA SEASTAR:
Bittersteel and Bloodraven both loved Shiera Seastar, and the Seven Kingdoms bled. (The Kingbreaker, ADwD)
--
[Serenei] died giving birth to the last of the king's bastard children, a girl called Shiera Seastar who became the greatest beauty in the Seven Kingdoms, beloved of both her half brothers, Bittersteel and Bloodraven, whose rivalry would ripen to hatred. (The Nine Mistresses of Aegon IV, the Unworthy, The World of Ice and Fire)
--
"He heard a whisper on the wind, a rustling amongst the leaves. You cannot speak to him, try as you might. I know. I have my own ghosts, Bran. A brother that I loved, a brother that I hated, a woman I desired. Through the trees, I see them still, but no word of mine has ever reached them. The past remains the past. We can learn from it, but we cannot change it." (Bran III, ADwD)
--
Though she never wed, she had many offers, and several lovers through the years. Duels were fought over the right to sit beside her, men killed themselves after falling from her favor, poets outdid each other writing songs about her beauty. Her most ardent admirer was her half-brother, Bloodraven, who proposed marriage to her half a hundred times. Shiera gave him her bed, but never her hand. It amused her more to make him jealous.
[Source]
DAEMON BLACKFYRE AND DAENERYS:
Daemon Blackfyre loved the first Daenerys, and rose in rebellion when denied her. (The Kingbreaker, ADwD)
--
"Cool breezes, sparkling water, and the laughter of children. The Water Gardens are my favorite place in this world, ser. One of my ancestors had them built to please his Targaryen bride and free her from the dust and heat of Sunspear. Daenerys was her name. She was sister to King Daeron the Good, and it was her marriage that made Dorne part of the Seven Kingdoms. The whole realm knew that the girl loved Daeron's bastard brother Daemon Blackfyre, and was loved by him in turn, but the king was wise enough to see that the good of thousands must come before the desires of two, even if those two were dear to him." (The Watcher, ADwD)
--
Could you tell us something of what happened in the relationship between the first Daenerys, Daemon Blackfyre, and the prince of Dorne? Despite Daemon and Daenerys being in love, her brother the king, Daeron the Good, was more concerned with matters of state than matters of love. There had been many years of fighting with Dorne, and failure to bring them into the Seven Kingdoms while not being able to keep them from harassing the Seven Kingdoms. So he realized that where violence failed, perhaps marriage could bring an end to hostilites and so he uses his sister to make an alliance with the prince of Dorne. It's a political marriage, pure and simple, a convenient marriage to guarantee a union between Dorne and the Seven Kingdoms. And also, he prefers to give his sister to the prince of Dorne over a bastard bother with whom he'd already had a few clashes and whom too many people were looking one as a legitimate claimant to the throne or rightful king. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, and helps lead to Daemon becoming the first Blackfyre Pretender.
[Source]
It has been said in the years after Daemon Blackfyre proved a traitor that his hatred of Daeron began to grow early. It was Aegon's desire—not Daemon's—that he be wed to Rohanne of Tyrosh. Instead, Daemon had developed a passion for Daeron's sister, young Princess Daenerys. Only two years younger than Daemon, the princess supposedly loved the bastard prince in turn, if the singers can be believed, but neither Aegon IV nor Daeron II were willing to let such feelings rule in matters of state. (The Targaryen Kings: Daeron II, The World of Ice and Fire)
JAEHAERYS II AND SHAERA:
Though King Aegon had acquired a distaste for the Valyrian custom of incestuous marriage during his years amongst the smallfolk, Prince Jaehaerys was of a more traditional bent, for from a very early age he had loved his sister Shaera and dreamed of wedding her in the old Targaryen fashion. Once aware of his desires, King Aegon and Queen Betha had done their best to separate the two, yet somehow distance only seemed to inflame the mutual passion of this prince and princess.
Prince Jaehaerys was not as forceful as his brother, but when Duncan defied his father to follow his own heart, and the king and court yielded to his desire, the younger prince did not fail to take note. In 240 AC, a year after Prince Duncan's marriage, Prince Jaehaerys and Princess Shaera each eluded their guardians and were secretly married. Jaehaerys was fifteen and Shaera fourteen at the time of their wedding. (The Targaryen Kings: Aegon V, The World of Ice and Fire)
AEMON THE DRAGONKNIGHT AND NAERYS (RUMOURED):
"My father was Maekar, the First of his Name, and my brother Aegon reigned after him in my stead. My grandfather named me for Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, who was his uncle, or his father, depending on which tale you believe. Aemon, he called me…" (Jon VIII, AGoT)
--
She loved Aemon best of her brothers, for he knew how to make her laugh—and he had something of the same piety that she possessed, while Aegon did not. She loved the Seven as dearly as she loved her brother, if not more so, and might have been a septa if her lord father had allowed it. But he did not, and Viserys instead wed her to his son Aegon in 153 AC, with King Aegon III's blessing. The singers say that Aemon and Naerys both wept during the ceremony, though the histories tell us Aemon quarreled with Aegon at the wedding feast, and that Naerys wept during the bedding rather than the wedding. (The Targaryen Kings: Viserys II, The World of Ice and Fire)
--
Matters between them were inflamed further by Prince Aemon, their brother, who had been inseparable from Naerys when they were young. Aegon's resentment of his noble, celebrated brother was plain to all, for the king delighted in slighting Aemon and Naerys both at every turn. (The Targaryen Kings: Aegon IV, The World of Ice and Fire)
JAIME AND CERSEI:
He could never bear to be long apart from his twin. Even as children, they would creep into each other's beds and sleep with their arms entwined. Even in the womb. Long before his sister's flowering or the advent of his own manhood, they had seen mares and stallions in the fields and dogs and bitches in the kennels and played at doing the same. Once their mother's maid had caught them at it...he did not recall just what they had been doing, but whatever it was had horrified Lady Joanna. (Jaime III, ASoS)
THE ORIGINAL OUTLINE:
Hounded by Lannister riders, they will seek refuge at the Wall, but the men of the Night's Watch give up their families when they take the black, and Jon and Benjen will not be able to help, to Jon's anguish. It will lead to a bitter estrangement between Jon and Bran. Arya will be more forgiving...until she realizes, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night's Watch, sworn to celibacy. Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy, until the secret of Jon's true parentage is finally revealed in the last book. (Original outline, page two)

What ocs do you have?
i have a lot blushes... i have a tag for them (just "my ocs") but i will list the different settings i have and the ocs (or at least the main ones) i have for them ill put it under a readmore though
the first one is about claire my friend claire. he is a vampire raised as a hunter by a family of vampire hunters who is learning to navigate interpersonal relationships and understand himself after the death of his father leads him to run away and become involved in a conflict between one cities main vampire coven and a mysterious cult that i have yet to iron out all the details for... some of the ohcees from this one are: -claire: main guy (gender neutral) you get it ^
-amber: human also caught up in the conflict while attempting to reconnect with her sibling who is a member of the coven (and she is claires eventual girlfriend)
-ambers siblings jake and (i dont have a name for the other one atm): ambers older sibling was turned into a vampire as a teen and drifted away from their family because watching their younger siblings age and outgrow them was too difficult and caused a lot of tension and conflict in the family. jake is a 16 year old boy and likes basketball and being taller than his adult siblings
-annie: a minor antagonist and claires "sister". she is trying to kill claire because she believes their fathers death was claires fault and has become obsessed with revenge
-zachary: dead father. the patriarch. a proud man who never once gave any of the people who depended on him what they needed
-magdelene: amber and claires mother. a resentful woman who hates her children and what they have become and is manipulating them to further the conflict between them
-opulence: leader of the local coven. french nobility turned vampire who fled the country and eventually wound up in [wherever this is all set] who has made a comfortable life for herself and her coven but is struggling to keep people safe in the midst of the conflict
-apotheosis: leader of the cult. a mysterious man who claims to know the truth to eternal life
there r a lot of other more minor characters... and a lot more that should exist but dont yet because im not a writer and this is more of a setting than the story i would like it to be 💯
NEXT STORY egress/regress. this is the only setting with a title. the description i give people:
A self-contained short story focusing on the lives and relationships of three people several years into a zombie apocalypse.
there are only three characters for this one, though i would like to flesh out their backstories and past relationships at some point:
-cooper: the main character. cooper kills people and feeds them to zombies. he does this because he believes he has to, because of the violence and destruction and pain he has seen committed against others since the outbreak.
-elliot: elliot lives nearby coopers residence, sharing land (but not property) with dahlia. they rely on cooper for protection and safety but his actions and the isolation the three of them experience has led them to become paranoid and distrustful (moreso than would be expected)
dahlia: dahlia is reclusive and does not trust the others, but trades her crops with them in return for safety and assistance with upkeep of the farm. she feels she has to keep the other two in check, but does not consider them trustworthy
-honorary mention: coopers dead father: a strong and very traditional man. raised cooper to the best of his abilities, alongside his hunting dogs
NEXT: i call this one "party story" when im talking about it... a (would be) visual novel following katherin, a young woman who finds herself face to face with the victim of her childhood bullying while at a university party and the conversation(s) they have
-katherin: a uni student in the last year of her degree, kat bullied dorothy as a young teen and outed her to the entire school one day after overhearing a conversation she was having with her "friend". kat has since realised that she is gay and had crazy internalised homophobia that made her a huge asshole and struggles with deeply regretting what she did. shes also a doggirl
-dorothy: dot is attending the same university, pursuing an arts degree. she holds little ill will for kats actions but is still wary when kat approaches her. depending on the choices you make throughout the conversation, you come to learn about the person she has become and about her partners
-aelyn: aelyn is one of dots partners. they are the manager at a clothing store and also makes and sells jewelry as a hobby. she lives with their other partner rebecca
-rebecca: dots other partner. she has an office job. thats about it these two dont have too much detail in the story its really just kat and dot. the other three are demons btw for no reason other than its fun
NEXT: last cohesive setting with multiple ocs! this follows two humans, an angel, and a demon, who are attempting to solve a murder and get into situations along the way
-zoey: a woman who, in the span of 24 hours, lost her job, found out her brother died, found out her brother was a warrior of heaven and that his guardian angel has now decided that she is his replacement, and found out that heaven and hell and angels and demons all exist. she is not happy about any of this and is trying to find the cause of her brothers death
-antares: a guardian angel who is being punished for the death of her charge. antares believes that, seeing as her charge has a twin, that she has a second chance, and is trying to convince zoey to come with her, and promises to help get to the bottom of what happened in an attempt to convince her
-[demon that doesnt have a name yet]: insists that it did NOT cause the death of zoeys brother, intentionally or otherwise. it claims to be able to lead them to the truth, in exchange for them helping it out with various things i havent decided on yet
-[guy that doesnt have a name yet]: pizza delivery guy who has an affinity for attracting supernatural forces and is the most scared guy in existence. hates that he is being led around to find various otherworldly beasts but refuses to leave the protection of the literal angel who he believes is the only way he can stay safe
-zoeys brother: the big question... what happened to this guy? someone who was supposed to become one of the strongest people on earth? what could have happened to him in the few seconds antares stopped watching over him
and thats it for stories... i have a lot more individual ocs that dont have a proper setting or are just one offs etc. or are fan ocs for something :) and one or two more settings that are old and i need to rework such as my superpowers ones. also i have another setting that is a game idea i have but that has less developed characters atm because i havent thought about it in a while. sorry this got so long omg i hope this explains these ones okay at least

Part 2
1957 - 1959, Little Italy, Springfield. (Tony - 13, Legs - 11, Louie - 6) Tony was supposed to go to a private catholic school in the area but he wanted to go to a school that was attended by the not so fortunate kids, since he knew that the energetic and wild kids would bring the most fun and action with them. Kids who didn’t come from rich backgrounds like Tony. So he started attending the catholic school that was located directly in the east end, surrounded by apartment complexes. This school was heavily understaffed and lacked funds, they had to combine elementary and middle school together in one big building to make ends meet. Sadly this school was not so well-off and prominent than the private schools in the upper east.
Life had always been boring ever since he moved away from Sicily, where he could play with the other kids in his neighbourhood, wrestling in the mud until the sun came down.
Now he was just stuck in a new country, in a new town and in a new life. If boredom was a disease then surely Tony would be dead by now. Speaking of childhood
Tumblr media
Now we come to my favourite part, the meet and formation of their little gang.
Sadly we have only two pictures of the gang in the WAY younger years to go off, one from “Springfield up” and the above picture from “The Blunder years”. But thanks to the Simpsons writers, this really helps me out.
It’s not like Tony made efforts to become friends with the other kids, it was just that they didn’t seem interesting to him. They were all energetic and playful yes but not in the way Tony was searching for. He needed some friends at his side that shared the same mind-set and the same mischievousness to have the guts to put some actual fun into this dull town.
Tony was simply looking for excitement and adventure, and saw creating a junior gang as a way to live a more exciting and dangerous life. He may have already been attracted to the idea of living outside the law and taking risks to gain power and influence from a young age on. Given his family history.
One day there was this group of kids, ordinary rascals yeah but one particular boy of them piqued Tony’s interest. He saw how this group of three terrorised two younger boys, what stood out to Tony was the tallest of the bunch. He had short brown hair and looked rather mature for his age, he definitely looked older than Tony with his height. Tony stood to the side as he watched this group basically rob those smaller kids from their backpacks. They didn’t do much after, just dumping the contents out of the backpacks onto the ground and leaving while they laughed, a boring show for Tony but he noticed how this taller boy gave one of the smaller ones a black eye, with no hesitation as well.
At least that kid knew how to throw a punch.Tony couldn't help but feel intrigued by this tall, mature-looking boy who seemed to have no qualms about using violence to get what he wanted. He saw potential in him and decided to approach him after school.
He introduced himself as Tony while the boy only told him his nickname, “Legs”.
Tony started to talk to Legs about the incident from earlier, he told him he was impressed how he willingly punched that kid, without someone to tell him to do it too.
Tony was all like, “Look, You’ve got good moves. Ever thought about being part of something bigger than hanging around with those two bozos? I’m putting together a team of kids who have strength like you do that we can use together to show this town that we’re not kids to underestimate. Are you in or are you out?” Now Legs was deeply confused about this whole ordeal, fortunately once Tony explained it more clearly and especially mentioned the part of wanting to show the adults that they as kids just want to have fun rather than responsibilities. That struck close to Legs.
He was the oldest of three other siblings, his family were more of the poorer kind and so had to share their apartment blog with two other families.
Life was tough in little Italy so Legs had to take up multiple chores in their household since their parents were busy with their work and came home often exhausted.
This caused him to become mature and grow up fast in his early age, though he never let his responsibilities stop him from having some fun. Playing in the dirt with others his age made him feel more loose and less of problems to care about. Another little hobby of his was bullying and terrorising others. It was not nice but he didn’t care, he needed a proper kick in his life, away from his family and longing for the sweet taste of mayhem.
His family is also another reason why Legs did not spend a lot of time in school, he had to work around the house and help his father in the shop. Leaving no time to study or learn subjects like other kids his age were doing.
With his size and strength, the tall boy could prove to be a valuable asset to Tony's junior mafia and Legs could have all the fun in the world at Tony’s side.
So he joined. Now the reason behind Tony wanting to create this little gang of rascals and misfits, was to not only to show adults that they are nothing more than kids but also to disrespect the adults and wanting to live by their own rules.
Alternatively he felt a sense of displacement or a lack of belonging, just like Legs, which could have made him more susceptible to the allure of the criminal world. Nevertheless, he managed to get Legs on his young team. For now all they wanted to do was to cause mischief.
But they still had to recruit some members.
Legs mentioned Jeremy, Andrei, Vincent and Mattia. A few kids he knew well in his neighbourhood, he especially mentioned how each one of them had their own special sets of skills.
One after another, Legs introduced them all to Tony and they showed what they had specialties.
Jeremy was a fast runner, he was just as tall as Legs though slightly shorter, he was quick like a cheetah and held the title of champion in the local track and field club. His only fear was heights.
Andrei is just as strong as Legs, if not stronger, while Legs took karate Andrei was concentrated on his Wrestling. He could take on any child even if they were older than him. But Andrei didn’t talk much, he suffered from social anxiety and therefore didn’t want to join Tony’s gang at first until he took it more into consideration and agreed to it 3 days after.
Vincent was great with a slingshot, he had this little shooting range put up in the backyard of his house that included empty cans and bottles. He once “borrowed” his Dad’s shotgun and aimed at one can, hitting it directly in the middle where he drew the dot.
Sure he got his ass whooped for that but that was a memorable day.
He can be a bit hot-headed though, not heeding people’s warnings that often led him into many accidents.
The last on the list is Mattia, he didn’t have physical skills but he was a smooth talker, he managed to gaslight Tony into thinking that Mattia’s father served as a secret agent who is still working undercover. Pretty impressive, though the only slight problem to him was that he did not like to work with others, he was fine being alone which is also why he does not work with Tony and the others often. With this team, and at times with Mattia, they made great progress in leaving their footprints wherever they went and started taking up requests from others.
Requests that often forced them to apply violence into their little games, but they only took these jobs if the reward from the client was worthy enough. (often they would accept money but when they felt like it, they wanted candy.) Though there was something they lacked, each time they tried to undergo a plan or a scheme, they were caught. No matter how hard they tried to stay low, they were always snatched by their collars off their jackets and pulled to the police station where they quickly made a name for themselves as the junior mafia.
Louie was a small yet ambitious kid, his father had recently passed away under mysterious circumstances and so it was left to his mother to raise him.
Sadly she caught a case of lung cancer due to the conditions she was working under in the factory, she was weak and had not much time left.
Louie was still small and young, he didn’t know why his mother behaved differently.
He just wanted for her to get better, to help in this situation he picked up on the responsibilities in their shared apartment.
He was 6 and couldn’t do much other than clean, bring out the trash and buy groceries, his mother still had to work for the money but ever since Louie’s father died their cash was slowly coming to an end.
They were in desperate need of it.
This was one of the reasons Louie wanted to join Tony’s gang. He had heard all about how there was this group of five kids that can do anything for you if you offer them the right reward for it.
They are said to have a whole inventory full of money and earn all the free candy they could ever want.
Louie admired how they were carefree, rebels who didn’t play along to the Adults rules and caused mischief wherever they went.
It was a bad decision to get himself mixed up with them but he needed to do it, he knew the D'amico's were filthy rich and if he could join Tony’s gang then surely he could save his mother from whatever was plaquing her.
One day he did attempt to talk with them, but they were not impressed with his request of joining them.
They laughed at him, he was too small, too young and he was weak. He had nothing to offer them in return as services.
It’s not like they even let him finish talking, they took one good look at this puny boy standing before them and instantly cut him down.
Legs was the only one going as far as to push him to the ground, to prove his point of Louie being way too weak and only will end up getting into their way.
Tony wanted to intervene, he did question this kid’s motive for wanting to be apart but he couldn’t speak now with him.
He did later as his friends walked off, he advised the kid to not go down this path of crime, he was younger than Tony and he seemed like he had good intentions.
He wouldn’t want this kid to throw his life away all for some gang Tony put together.
Louie did not let their words break him, he was gonna show them who was weak.
Proving his strength in his own way.
Two days later when the masses came into church, when the collection basket was passed around, a new idea came to Tony.
He and his gang were in need of some cash, they had once snuck into the security room off their school and saw plus overhead a conversation between the principal and the mayor.
The town is facing a money crisis, and the mayor is desperate to find a way to bring in more revenue. All while the principal of the school is struggling to improve its reputation and academic performance. In exchange for a large donation to the school, the principal agrees to falsify the school's academic records to make it appear as though the students are performing better than they actually are. The mayor then uses these falsified records to attract new businesses and residents to the town, promising them access to a high-quality school system.
If they went through with this deal then the town would be corrupted and many students would graduate without the skills they need to succeed in college or the workforce. The town's reputation will be tarnished when the truth about the falsified records gets exposed.
Tony and his gang didn’t want any of that to happen, not to their town and to their families. That’s when Zach told them something about how the mayor had previous allegations of being a sexual offender, his mother was a journalist and knew all about it, Zach told the team that the old man down in the bakery was the mayor’s old friend and had some serious dirt on him. He even had a videotape to prove him guilty.
If they could get their hands on that tape then the mayor’s reputation would be in ruins, forcing him to obey the kids' demands.
They only want the mayor to think of another way to fix the money crisis rather than corrupting their own school and personal lives with his wrong-doings.
So Money was the key-thing in this operation, they didn’t want to take it out from their own treasure since they worked hard to gain it all.
Sometimes all It needed was to do something bad in order to win. Tony was like, “Hey, if we can steal that basket of money we would finally have enough to buy those tapes off from Old Alberto”
And Legs was all like, “Bet. Let’s do it.”
After the sermon, the five boys tried to get the basket but were caught by the priest. Forcing them to run off.
Now someone who had watched this all go down was a younger Louie, his mother had forgotten her purse in the church and so Louie wanted to grab it for her.
He did so but not without witnessing how Tony, Legs and Jeremy attempted to grab the basket but then fleeing the scene as the priest caught them red-handed.
This gave Louie an idea, he walked up to the priest soon after the boys ran away and told him how those kids were part of a fundraiser, they wanted to take the money and give it away to the poor, when the priest why the three didn’t just told him that Louie responded with that the priest would have already known that, he was supposed to get notified after the sermon by the head of the fundraiser that the boys would be asking for donations.
In conclusion, Louie’s way to talk his way out with the priest worked and he handed the basket to Louie for the supposed fundraiser.
Meanwhile the boys gathered back together behind the church, they were stuck and were beginning to just use the already earned treasure they had until Louie came around with the basket.
The boys were impressed by this little kid’s tactic to get the basket and soon after he was allowed to join.
Seeing as he could be a valuable asset to their team because of his small height, he could easily slip through people and remain undetected.
And if plans would fail, he could use his innocent appearance as a way to talk their way out.
First they saw him as only a tool but everyday that they spent together they began to feel more like brothers to him.
He was like the sweet and innocent baby brother you would suspect nothing wrong with, however under that face he has a devilish side to him.
Especially Tony, Legs and Louie began to grow close to each other, they shared common interests and were unstoppable if it were just the three of them.
Inseparable as young troublemakers.
On one summer break the three and the rest, including some other kids from the neighbourhood, played a big game of cowboys vs Indians.
The boys dressed up as native americans who would have to fight against the others dressed in common clothes.
They used tactics such as capturing others from opposite teams as hostages, using water balloons, spears out of sticks and slingshots as weapons. This little game was the highlight of their holidays, though in the winter they did not hang together a lot. Mainly because it was cold and the streets were covered in black ice.

mmmmmm your yandere monty hcs got me brain rotting 😭. can i request another yandere monty with a sweet, naive/stupid/oblivious (whatever word you favor) reader? and can they be a older sibling who was watching their younger sibling for their birthday? and could it be a short fic? if not thats ok! do whatever you feel most comfy with :).
(btw, ty for actually answering requests!)
Similar to the concept I just made about Monty 😊 Sure, I'll make a short scenario for you, based off the concept I did. I'm so sorry that I don't get to everyones....
You're old enough to take your sibling to the Pizzaplex by yourself. Again, with all my FNAF fics, Animatronic or android, doesn't matter.
Birthday Treasure
Yandere! Montgomery Gator Scenario
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Yandere behavior, Manipulation, Bribing, Kidnapping, Implied violence, Robot becoming sentient, Sadism.
Tumblr media
Nothing made you happier than seeing your sibling bounce up and down in excitement. A small smile graces your lips as you guided them into the Pizzaplex.
"Calm down a little!" You chuckle, paying the entry fee for both of you. "Where to first?"
"I wanna meet the band!" They squeal, you sighing softly at their energy.
The Pizzaplex was massive. You were impressed and your sibling must've been even more amazed. You were almost dragged to the atrium by your sibling, who craved food and fun.
You decided to take your younger sibling to the place as a surprise gift for their birthday. So far you could tell you made a good choice. To keep track of activities you pull out a pamphlet.
"Huh...Fazer Blast, Monty Golf...there's Go-Karts?" You hum to yourself, surprised at the amount of activities.
"Look look!" Your sibling excitedly shouts. You look up from the pamphlet to see the robotic band roaming the atrium from table to table.
"I see!" You laugh, looking around the food court. "How about we get some food and head to a table before we plan what to do?"
Your sibling agrees before picking where to eat. While you wait and fidget with your wallet, you notice one of the band members walking closer.
It was the one that was based off a gator. You felt nervous for a moment, looking away to see where your sibling picked to go. Maybe they wanted to meet this one?
"Heya there! I'm Monty, show's about to start~ Are you going to be taking a seat?" The voice of the gator booms. You look at the taller bot before clearing your throat.
"Hey! I am, yes... I'm just getting food for...." You gesture to your sibling to come over, who upon seeing Monty, bounds over. "The birthday boy/girl!"
Monty watches the scene between you two, your sibling giggling and clinging to you. A smirk grows on Monty's face.
"Oh~? A birthday kid, eh?"Monty hums, kneeling down to meet your sibling. "Hey, Kid! You excited for the show?"
Your sibling excitedly nods, Monty chuckling.
"Good! Cheer for me, will ya?" Monty's smile is bright, revealing sharp teeth. His gaze then shifts to you. "You should cheer for me, too, alright~?"
You snort softly, nodding. You then ruffle your sibling's hair.
"Sure, Monty." You smile, watching the gator walk away. You adored the personality they programmed into these robots already....
You then kneel down towards your sibling, still seeing them utterly awestruck.
"So, what did you want to eat, birthday boy/girl~?"
-------
The band was great, your sibling doing just as Monty had asked them. You were invested in the pamphlet to plan what to do next before your sibling tugged on your sleeve.
"Cheer!" They smile, you can't help but comply and put the pamphlet down. You cheer for the gator with your sibling for a bit before going back to eating your meal.
Cake was given awhile ago as you requested. Your sibling still had traces of frosting on their face. With a sigh you pass them a napkin.
"The current show looks like it's ending, let's get cleaned up before doing something else, okay?" You ask, your sibling getting excited again.
It wasn't long before the robotic band began roaming again. It surprised you when Monty made a beeline for your table.
"How's that? Impressive, huh? I heard you both cheering from the stage!" Monty laughs, eying you and your sibling. You give a polite smile.
"Yup! It was worth it. I was just picking where to go next...." You trail off, surprised when the bot takes the pamphlet and opens it.
"Hm...how about I personally take you around? I can swing us by Monty Golf! Just a heads up, I'd win~ But...I'll go easy on ya. Y'know, for the little kid's sake?" Monty offers, flipping down his glasses towards you. A smug smirk was on his face.
"I mean...If you're allowed to-" You mumble, Monty pleased by your answer despite it being meek.
"Come on, kid! Let's go have some fun!" Monty encourages your sibling to follow, you following them both.
It made you happy that your sibling was having a wonderful day, but Monty concerned you a bit. The robot was awfully close to you both...it made you wonder.
It wasn't like you were any sort of V.I.P, either....
"Hey! You coming? It'd be a shame if you missed out...." Monty questions, feigning a saddened tone. Your sibling looked towards you in worry.
"Coming! I was just lost in thought."
The bot almost looked like he was studying you before nodding, escorting you both to play some golf.
-------
You couldn't find them.... The day was going great, and just when it was time to leave, they were gone!?
You were playing and everything, then parted ways as you needed to get something. You came back to your sibling gone.
Quickly you alerted the security that a child was missing, but it was so close to closing time. You spent so long looking for them... what were you going to tell their parents!?
You refused to leave until you found them. Resulting in the lights going out and the shutters closing the building off. The place was huge, they probably thought you left.
You call their name out over and over, scared they were taken or got injured somewhere....
The halls were dark except for the few neon lights that were on. You weren't sure what to do!
The doors were locked...
Your sibling was missing...
Your parents must be worried sick!
You flinch when you hear a laugh. It sounded deep, robotic, malicious.
"You're too sweet, dear~"
Monty's voice....
"You're willing to stay after hours here to find the kid? I knew you would... you seemed like the type!"
"What kind of game are you playing!? Where are they!"
There's footsteps, slow and heavy like a predator stalking their prey. Monty was a robot...what kind of programming did he have? What was going on?
"Safe. I thought you'd stay if I hid them. They think we're playing hide and seek, when really I was just luring you closer to me!"
You step back, seeing red eyes gleaming towards you. Monty's glasses were tilted down, grinning wide with pointed teeth.
"I wanted to play a little more, you look fun to break~ I couldn't just let you leave! The kid'll be fine, for now, let's play a little game of our own."
You couldn't believe what you were hearing...
"This is...insane!"
Monty laughs again.
"You could say that. For now, enough with the talk, I want to play with my new favorite toy."
Monty's close now but you keep your distance.
"How about we play a little game of chase, rockstar~!"
You notice him lunge teasingly, you flinch.
"Let's rock and roll~!"

You’re standing in your usual corner, from where you make sure everything goes smoothly. Two tall, muscular men stand on either side of you. They look like they’re your bodyguards, but really, they’re here to handle him if he tries to do something. To everyone in the room but the two of you, this looks like every other fight night since the very first time he came to the Circle.
You’re too far for him to smell you, especially over the crowd of excited, sweaty men, but if he did, he’s sure he would pick up on the bitter scent of anxiety, would hear your heart beating a little too fast. He’d say you’re lucky the guards aren’t hybrids, but he knows that’s not the case. You never count on luck. Everybody knows that. That’s what makes you so good at your job. That’s what might just save his life.
He glances at you, finds your eyes glued on him, and gives you a smirk, which reveals his abnormally pointy teeth for a rabbit hybrid. It’s been over a year since they’ve been sharpened for him, to make him look more threatening. You’re used to them, but he still sees you swallow. For the first time he wonders, vaguely, if you had any say in that. You’re the one he meets with nowadays, but you’re not his owner, after all.
Your eyes leave him to look at his opponent. The man’s taller and has broad shoulders, he seems to have some training based on his on-guard position, and he’s older than him. You couldn’t find many informations on him, but based on his attributes, he’s probably some kind of dog hybrid.
You both know he doesn’t stand a chance.
“On my left,” the announcer roars, “some fresh meat! I give you… Jin!”
There are enthusiastic shouts, and the man shoots nervous glances around him at the crowd all around him. It’s clear that he isn’t used to that type of setting, and you feel an unexpected wave a guilt in your chest. He’s going to get destroyed tonight, you’re sure of it. You’re the one who suggested that Jungkook should fight a newbie, for the show. You don’t regret your decision, but you don’t feel good about it either.
“And on my right! The man who needs no introduction, who has won thirty! Two! Fights in a row, I give you… Jungkook!”
The crowd goes hysterical, and the hybrid facing him winces again. If he thought he had chance before that, it’s clear that he doesn’t anymore. You wonder if he’d heard about Jungkook, if his owners had prepared him well enough, if whoever owned him was betting against him. You wonder if he’d just been told he would be fighting a rabbit hybrid and assumed he would be fine.
Jungkook’s long ears are flat against his head, carefully tucked under a headband, and without those, he doesn’t look like a rabbit hybrid, too tall and broad-shouldered. Then again, he had never really been your typical rabbit hybrid.
Tumblr media
Truth was, you had been relieved when you had been assigned to working for the daughter of Mr. Xanders. Your whole life, you had known you would end up here. Your dad had worked for the Family since before your birth, and though it was clear your mom disapproved, she had never held any illusion that you would escape it. If anything, you were the sacrifice, a way of making sure your siblings wouldn’t be forced to work for the most powerful crime family in town. That was, if you did good enough.
Getting assigned to the girl who was nicknamed “the Princess” was both a blessing and a curse. It meant you got to stay away from most of the illegal stuff, as the girl was notoriously sheltered from all of that by her father. However, it also meant that you had to basically babysit the spoiled seventeen years old, despite her being only a few years younger than you. You had dressed as professionally and sternly as you could, adorning yourself in a dark woman’s suit, but she hadn’t seemed impressed.
That was how you found yourself here, at an auction for rare hybrids. You thought the whole thing was grim — oh, how naive you had to be back then, to think this was bad — but you had obeyed orders without batting an eye. You had to do this right, and this was a pretty easy job, after all.
You gritted your teeth silently as various hybrids were brought on stage, exhibited and bought, one by one. The status of hybrids was a complicated subject in the country, always had been, but you had grown up in a poor area, where a lot of hybrids lived freely, and the idea of owning what you knew to be a person made you sick to your stomach. At least the Princess hadn’t said a word the whole time you’d been there, and you had hopes that you would leave without — God — buying someone.
Naive. So damn naive.
“I want this one,” the girl had announced decidedly, pointing at the stage with a movement of her chin.
Shit.
You looked at the stage. There, the auctioneer was highly praising the hybrid who had last been brought on stage. A surprisingly tall and muscular rabbit hybrid, with fluffy black hair and long ears falling on either side of his head. He was shaking slightly, sending terrified looks around him, and your heart tightened in your chest.
Naive and soft.
“Are you sure?” you asked, and the girl rolled her eyes.
“Do your job. Get him for me.”
Numbers flashed in your mind, the exact amount of money you were allowed to spend clear as day. It made you feel a little better, for a second. This was what you were good with; numbers, facts, informations. If you thought of the hybrid as just that — a number,  an element to compose with — you should be able to do what you were supposed to do. Do your damn job, and ensure your little brother never ever had to work here, because they wouldn’t be as kind to him.
You took a deep breath, and, after a few people had already considerably raised the price, you made your bid.
Tumblr media
Jungkook walks to the center of the ring, arms raised high. He’s good at giving a show, good at most things, actually. He looks good here, confident, knowing exactly what he’s worth, and he’s nothing like what he was that first day. There is absolutely no fear on his face as he fists the air and people shout for him. Instead, he seems to be positively thriving on the attention he’s getting.
He’s a favorite here, because he always gives people what they came for. He makes the fight last, makes it theatrical, with twists and impressive moves. It’s been a while since he’s struggled in a fight, really struggled, which has made it easier. You recognize you’ve played your part in that. You have your word to say when picking his opponents, and you don’t want him to— well, to die, or to be too badly injured.
You know it’s not much. You know no matter what you tell yourself, that’s not protecting him. You know you should have acted a lot earlier.
But you didn’t.
Tumblr media
They gave you Jungkook as soon as the payment was confirmed, which didn’t take long. People were fidgeting in the room, careful not to stare too long at the Princess. They knew who she was, of course. The bodyguards and your ghostly presence, one step behind her, did not do anything to soothe their nerves. No one actually knew you back then. You hadn’t earned your reputation of efficiency, no one had called you a cold-hearted bitch yet, though that would pretty much become your identifier, but you were still somewhat unnerving, with your stillness and your all black attire.
Which was why you never tried to add color to it.
The Princess seemed to be in her element, not bothered by the silence and people’s obvious fear of her, even for a second. Instead, she was watching her acquisition. The hybrid — Jungkook, you remembered, because you’d heard his name after winning the auction — was staring at the floor, stealing glances at her every once in a while, before quickly looking away again. He was clearly shy, and terrified, and it looked like the Princess liked that.
When they handed the leash to her, she was quick to clip it on his collar, and you held back your disgust. Your mind went to Mark, a kind golden retriever hybrid you had grown up with, and the idea of him being collared like that almost made you retch.
But, of course, none of that could be seen on your face. You had been told that you had the perfect poker face, unreadable at all times. In moments like this, it was a true blessing.
“Hello, Jungkook, I’m Anna, and I’m your new owner. I’m going to take good care of you.”
Then Jungkook looked up at her, briefly, and an adorable smile curved his lips.
You knew then that this could only end in pain and heartbreak.
Tumblr media
Once Jungkook is done, he turns to face Jin. The other hybrid looks like he wants to run away, but even if he tried it, he’d be pushed right back in. So he does the smart thing, and prepares himself for the fight, lifting his hands to protect himself. Jungkook does the same thing. There is a brief moment of silence, everyone bracing themselves for what is to come. Despite his earlier display, Jungkook is deathly calm now, every muscle in his body ready for action.
The second the bell rings, Jungkook is moving, so fast he’s almost blurry, and you have to avert your eyes when his fist connects with the other hybrid’s chest.
This all feels like it could have been avoided.
Tumblr media
A relationship quickly developed between the shy bunny and the Princess. You didn’t say anything about it; that wasn’t what you were here for. A baby-sitter, sure, but not a chaperone. Anyway, it seemed like Mr. Xanders wasn’t too worried about that, and his daughter was free to do whatever she wanted as long as she didn’t get pregnant. You supposed a hybrid was the perfect choice for that, with how rare it was for them to have children with a human. It could happen, of course, but it was highly unlikely without medical assistance.
Still, you weren’t sure you liked the relationship all that much. It just felt like Anna had so much power over him. He was a couple of years older than her, since selling hybrids under eighteen was technically illegal, but it was clear from the very beginning that he had been sheltered and didn’t have much experience in— well, in any areas. A sickening feeling told you that had probably been done on purpose by the people who had raised him. You were well aware of what rabbit hybrids were usually bought for.
You watched, silently, as they got close, as Anna’s hands started to easily find Jungkook’s, as Jungkook started to rest his head on her shoulder, to scent her, as he fell in love with her. Today, maybe you would have been annoyed at the sight, annoyed by his innocence, but back then, it only made you sad.
You were also there to see Anna grow bored of him. It didn’t even take her that long, no more than a couple of months.
When she insisted on going to another hybrid auction, and asked you to bid on someone else, you knew that it was over.
“Get him to fight,” Mr. Xanders told you dismissively at a meeting you had with him. “I want the money he cost me back.”
“He’s a rabbit hybrid,” you had said, frowning. “He’s not exactly the fighting type.”
“I didn’t tell you to make him win,” he scoffed. “I don’t care if you have to bet against him. Get my money back. After that, I don’t care what you do with him.”
You didn’t realize then that that was a ‘promotion’, and that this meant you would start working in illegal settings. All you knew was the painful weight in your chest at the idea of sending Jungkook to his death. You had kept away from him, not trying to create any bonds with him, but he smiled politely and kindly when he saw you.
God, he was in love with Anna. You were sure he had noticed her losing interest in him, but you also believed he held out hope. This could— This would probably be crushing for him.
So you took the matter into your own hands. You didn’t just sign him up for an upcoming fight, but you also found him a trainer, the best you could.
“Does Anna want me to learn how to fight?” he had asked you, big brown eyes looking at you, when you had told him about the training. “So I can be her bodyguard?”
“My orders don’t come from Anna,” you’d answered, trying to stay as distant as possible.
“But will she— Do you think she’ll like me again, if I learn to fight?”
No. You thought Anna had gotten everything she wanted from him.
“I don’t know,” you had answered. You couldn’t. You couldn’t do it.
The first fight had been brutal. Devastating, in fact. Jungkook had been training, and you’d been told he was good at what he was doing, but, as a newbie, he’d been sent against an expert fighter — “for the show”, you’d heard, the exact same thing you would use as well, years later —, and you were later told he was lucky he’d made it out alive.
You stayed next to him in the hospital room. As a hybrid, he healed quickly, but he still looked terrible, body marred with black and blue, lip busted, and black eyes. When he woke up, he looked around the room, every movement he made clearly painful, and you knew, at his expression, that there was only one thing he thought about in that moment.
Anna wasn’t there.
You would never forget the look he gave you then. The way he set his jaw, the way something hardened in his eyes.
“Get out,” he had said, and you were pretty sure he had meant for it to sound aggressive, but he wasn’t good at it yet, so it was more pleading.
You had gotten up, made a move to— to pat his shoulder, to do something, but you had refrained and your hand had fallen down to your side.
“I’m sorry,” you had said, and you had left him alone in there, with his broken hopes and heart.
That night was the first and last time you considered leaving your job.
But there was no quitting, where you worked.
Tumblr media
In the ring, of course, Jungkook is good. He leaves an opening for the guy to place a few punches, ones that can’t hurt him too much. The crowd is delirious, bets are being placed. There’s a rumor that Jungkook was injured at the last fight so tonight could be the night where he loses his title, couldn’t it? The first round is coming to an end, and he doesn’t seem to have done much so, surely, he’s not going to be able to end that guy by the third, like he usually does — and if he does, hey, at least they’ll have had one hell of a show.
The three rounds thing is something you asked him to do after an organizer told you people needed that to feel they had gotten their money’s worth. You had told Jungkook, and he’d growled an answer, but he had never won in less than that since. For all his obvious hatred of you, the organization, and everything that surrounded him, he didn’t actively oppose you most of the time. He had tried to run away, twice, but when those attempts had failed, he had seemed to realize that it was just easier to go with the flow.
When the second round starts, though, he goes wild. His bare feet are light on the floor,  his fists quick and precise. He doesn’t leave anything to luck either. Every punch lands exactly where he wants it to, when he wants it to. He dodges his opponent’s attacks easily, and he sees in his eyes the moment when the man realizes that he’s not winning this. He sees confidence turn into surprise, then into fear, and it only makes him want blood.
His right hook hits the man in the jaw with all the power he can put into it, and this time you don’t wince. You’ve gotten used to the violence now — it always takes you a while — and you’re mostly impressed at how good Jungkook is.
But that’s exactly why you’re in this situation, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
“We should put him down,” Mr. Xanders said, with the exact same dismissive tone he had used years ago to tell you to make Jungkook fight, and you looked at him in disbelief. Surely, surely, he didn’t mean—
“I really disapprove of that solution, dad,” Anna said, shaking her head, and you realized he did.
You had been surprised by Anna’s presence, when you had walked into the office. You hadn’t worked for her in a long time, having graduated to far worse things. You had served your purpose, you supposed, made yourself practically indispensable when it came to the organizing of the Family’s business, as you knew the workings of the Family in and out, both legal and… less legal aspects. No one had ever said anything about your siblings joining.
“He attacked someone,” her father simply shrugged.
“If I may, Mr. X, it was after a fight and the man was being really aggressive after he lost the money he’d bet against—”
“I don’t care,” he said, waving his hand like you were just an annoying fly. “He attacked a human. We can’t have our hybrids doing that, otherwise it will just be chaos. You’re smart enough to know that.”
You swallowed. Something inside you was screaming. You had long shut down any form of moral compass, but it seemed like Jungkook always awoke the last remnants of it. You were pretty sure he despised you now, and you didn’t blame him for it. But, just like what you’d thought when Anna had bought him, you couldn’t shake the feeling that this just wasn’t right.
“I understand, sir.”
“That’s a horrible thing you’re doing, dad,” Anna insisted. “I thought you’d try to at least reason with him, (Y/N).”
That wasn’t your job. You knew when your opinion was asked on those things, and now was not one of those times. You also knew that you hated that she called you by your first name, like the two of you were friends, and you didn’t say anything about that either.
“I’m sorry, honey,” Mr. Xanders said warmly, like he had just refused to buy her an expensive toy, and not condemned a man to death. “I’ll make it up to you, okay?”
Anna sighed and rolled her eyes, and you assumed she’d probably stay mad at him for a while. But not too long.
Your heart was beating so loud in your chest you barely heard Mr. Xanders dismissing you, and you were relieved to be left alone when you walked out. There was only one thing you wanted to be thinking about now.
How were you going to save Jungkook’s life?
Tumblr media
Jin hits the floor and doesn’t get up. It’s not an actual knock-out, because he’s still moving around, but Jungkook doubts he’ll even try to get back on his feet. The guy seems to be smart, he probably realizes that that would be suicide. Another minute with him on the ring? Nah. That would be a really, really stupid thing to do. Jungkook’s knuckles are bleeding — he doesn’t think they’ve been intact once in the four years he’s been fighting — and he’s pretty much unstoppable, right now.
He lets the referee grab his arm and lift it in the air as the crowd screams. They’re particularly loud tonight, because he won in two rounds. It’s not really a surprise when they force the entrance of the cage, flooding it, and Jungkook looks for you, almost instinctively. When he finds you, your eyes are on your phone. You look like you couldn’t care less about what’s happening around you, and he knows you do genuinely dislike the fights. You’ve never made it a secret. You’ve never taken care of the other hybrids owned by the family who participate, either. He doesn’t know if he’s your burden, or if you’re the one who chooses to still do that. Before, he wouldn’t have doubted it. Now… He’s not so sure.
Your eyes flicker up to his for a second, and you nod, imperceptibly. Your heart is probably beating as loud as his right now, though for different reasons.
Jungkook examines you, takes in how out of place you are in that environment, immaculately dressed, small glasses on your nose, hair pulled back, and lets himself be amused by it, one last time.
And then he’s gone.
Tumblr media
You only visited Jungkook when there was about to be a fight, and it was clear he really didn’t like it when you showed up. You always seemed to be interrupting him, whether it was a training session or a work-out. You didn’t think you’d ever seen him do something other than those two things. You didn’t know if he had anything else.
You brought some food from a restaurant he liked, as you usually did, and got some things for the guards who would be around. That wasn’t as usual, but you had done it before, so hopefully it wouldn’t make anyone suspicious and it would allow you to have some privacy with Jungkook.
He sat down opposite from you, immediately diving into the food you’d brought, and you watched silently. His shoulders were tense, never completely down but, though he would hate to admit it, he was more relaxed around you than around anyone else. It said a lot about his life, about how desperate he was for any form of companionship, that the way you told him about his opponents almost made him feel like you cared about him. It said a lot that your presence comforted him, and it was pretty pathetic, if you asked him.
“So, who am I fighting?” he asked while eating. He never bothered with his manners when he was around you.
“A newbie,” you said. “Some fighting training from what I’ve gathered, but he shouldn’t be an issue.”
He growled. The sound was unnatural for a rabbit hybrid, but he had mastered it over the years. It was a good way of intimidating people.
“Really? I thought I told you I wanted a challenge.”
You didn’t reply immediately, and that made him look up at you. When he did, you were chewing on the inside of your cheek, hesitant. That was completely out of character. Then, you made up your mind, and your expression turned back to the unreadable one he was so familiar with.
“Keep eating, and don’t raise your voice” you ordered.
He lifted an eyebrow. Normally, he would have done something like folding his arms and waited for more, in a defiant attitude, but this was you. You would never do something like that just to assert your power over him. He hated your guts, but that was one thing he could say about you.
“Mr. X is going to have you killed because you attacked that man at your last fight.”
There. Direct, to the point, not a useless word — though you couldn’t bring yourself to use the words “put you down”. Jungkook froze for a half a second, than resumed his eating, albeit slower than before.
“It was all good as long as long as I brought him money, but he doesn’t want any trouble for it, huh?”
His voice was bitter and low, barely more than a rumble. You were confident no one was paying attention to you, since the guards ate in another part of the house and no one cared about what you were saying. They could see you through the picture window, but they couldn’t read lips. Still, you lowered your voice as well.
“Win your next fight in two rounds,” you said, instead of answering him.
He shot you a dirty glance.
“Do you really think that’s what I—”
“That should get the crowd to lose their mind,” you continued. You had gone through all the possibilities in your mind, over and over again. This was the one that was the safest for you and your family, while giving Jungkook a reasonable chance of survival. “When that happens, you’ll use the hysteria to leave through your opponent’s entrance.”
This got his attention, and he stopped trying to interrupt you, finally focusing on your words.
“I can probably get you somewhere between five and ten minutes before everyone finds out you’re missing.”
He scoffed.
“That’s very generous of you.”
“I also won’t look too hard for you,” you added, because you would obviously be in charge of that as well. “So as long as you don’t do a terrible job hiding, we probably won’t find you. Stay away from hotels, and don’t get noticed.”
Jungkook stayed silent for a while. He didn’t look at you, jaw set, and you were pretty sure he was weighing the pros and cons of your plan.
“I don’t know if there’ll be another chance,” you told him truthfully. “They want you gone after the fight.”
The silence went on a little longer, before Jungkook spoke again.
“Anna’s said yes to that?”
You didn’t miss the way his voice faltered on her name. You didn’t think he had spoken to her in years, but he still had a soft spot for her, and being reminded of it always made you sad. You had accepted, a long time ago, that life wasn’t fair, but that was particularly true when it came to him. None of what had happened to him was fair. The shy boy with the wide eyes you’d helped buy at the auction deserved better. You didn’t, probably deserved every single bad thing that had happened to you, but for him, you wished you had done something — anything — differently. So you wouldn’t be faced with a jaded, cynical version of that boy right now.
“She opposed it, but her father is still going through with it.”
“So she didn’t oppose it much.”
You didn’t answer that. It was true, and you both knew it.
You glanced at your watch. Your time here was almost over, and you had a lot of responsibilities.
“Will you do it?”
Jungkook glanced at you, eyes wary.
“How do I know you’re telling me the truth? You could just do that so you could have me killed and say I tried to escape.”
You shook your head, almost amused by the possibility.
“I would gain nothing from doing that, and if I wanted you dead, I wouldn’t go about it that way. Will you do it?”
This time, he nodded. He didn’t trust you, but he thought you were telling the truth on this.  So following your plan would be just as well.
“Good. I’ll see you for the fight.”
This would have been a good moment to wish him good luck, probably, but you didn’t do luck, so you didn’t say anything. You gave him a quick nod, gathered your things, and then you were out.
You didn’t think to say goodbye.
Tumblr media
“We’ll get him when the crowd’s dispersed,” one of the bodyguards says, and you hum noncommittally in response, eyes on your phone.
Moron.
If these two were the ones you usually work with, they would know that your usual protocol is to go get Jungkook as soon as the referee’s lifted his hand up. That way, you can get him out as quickly as possible and you don’t have to worry about him getting mobbed. But you’ve changed your team the day Mr. Xanders asked you to ‘put Jungkook down’, so they have no idea. It’s been a week since then, which shouldn’t make it too suspicious. Hopefully.
When the crowd does move enough to see what’s going on in the cage — three minutes — one of the two men says, voice worried, “Hey, can you see him?”
Your head snaps up and your eyes scan the room. You’re relieved to see that Jungkook’s nowhere in sight.
“Where is he?” you ask urgently, and the men seem to shrink under your glare, exchanging worried glances. You roll your eyes and sigh. This may be your plan, but they’re still acting incompetent. Which is good for you, sure, but the perfectionist in you is annoyed.
“You two should pray he’s in the changing room,” you spit out as you march towards it. It takes some struggle, because the crowd isn’t exactly calming down, but it’s not too long.
Of course, Jungkook isn’t in the changing room. It was a bad idea to go look there anyway — usually you would probably have already informed everyone that he had disappeared — but these two don’t seem to realize that.
“Go search the fighting room,” you order, “make sure you haven’t missed anything. Then check the surroundings. I’ll stay there. Let me know if you find something.”
They practically run out, and you allow yourself to sit down. This isn’t even dangerous yet. If Jungkook’s done that part correctly, he should already be too far for them to find him. As far as you’re concerned, you’ve bought him — you check your watch — seven minutes. But even if you don’t doubt him, you still feel terror at the idea they could catch him. You don’t know what would happen then. You don’t want to think about it.
The seconds tick by. It’s been almost exactly ten minutes when your phone rings.
“Hello, Miss—”
“Do you have him?” you bark.
There’s a silence.
“I want an answer!” you snap.
“No. I’m sorry. We’ve lost him.”
You hang up immediately and start to dial another number to let people know Jungkook’s missing.
But, before you actually call, you let out a brief sigh of relief.
This just might work.
Tumblr media
You get home late the following night. When you do, you’re absolutely exhausted. You’ve had a terrible day, unable to sleep a wink, and you got thoroughly chewed out over Jungkook going missing. You think Mr. X was suspicious of you, because you basically don’t fuck up, ever, but then Anna started to wax poetics about how “Jungkook was a soul who wanted to live”, and you don’t think he bought it, but it at least got his mind off of you.
You doubt he’d get you killed over that, it just isn’t worth it and you’re pretty valuable, but it would be much better if he didn’t think about it too much.
You’ve organized the searches, pretty sloppily in your own opinion. Of course, it’s possible that they could find him, but if Jungkoook does his part, everything should be okay.
You remove your shoes with a groan when you walk in. You usually never regret wearing heels, thankful for the centimeters they help you gain, but tonight you definitely do. Keeping them on for two days was not how they had been intended to be used.
Once they’re off your feet, you painfully walk to your kitchen. All you want to do is to make yourself a cup of tea before going to bed, but you stop yourself before grabbing your kettle.
Something feels— off. You’re probably the only person who could notice it, because you’re  so obsessive with everything that’s in your home, but you just can’t miss it. It’s not much, just some items that aren’t where they should be, or that were moved a little to the side.
Your breath catches in your throat, and you hesitantly grab a knife from your kitchen drawer. You don’t think that would do anything, if someone was in your apartment right now, because you can’t fight and, considering the people you work for, you’re pretty sure if someone wanted to kill you they would, but it makes you feel better.
You make your way through the living-room slowly, heart hammering in your chest. You check the bathroom, first. No one’s in there, but it’s clear that whoever was there used it as well. He didn’t put your toothpaste back where it belonged.
That only leaves your room. You walk in, carefully, to find it empty. Your bed’s done, though not exactly how you do it, and that confuses you. At least until your eyes find the necklace that’s on your bedside table.
It’s the identifying tag Jungkook wore around his neck for fights. You reach out for it, in disbelief, and that only confirms what you thought.
A laugh bubbles in your throat, and you just can’t hold it in. It escapes your lips, breaking the silence that always reigns in your apartment.
Here. He was here, in the eye of the storm, while everyone was looking for him. You have no idea where he is now, but this makes you feel like he’ll be fine. Clearly, he is a smart man and he has resources.
You fall to the ground, lean against your bed, holding the tag in your hand. You give yourself a second. That’s more than you usually get. It’s a second to close your eyes and feel grateful and happy about what happened, a second to think that perhaps not everything is dark and terrible in the world.
A second, because Jungkook made it out.
And then, you open your eyes, and you come back to your reality, which is that you’ll be working for the family tomorrow, and the day after that, and probably for the rest of your life. There’s no out for you. No hope.
But at least Jungkook should be fine. You’ll never know about it, because if he is, then you’ll never hear about him again.
If you ever do, it will only mean bad news.

Imagine taking in Mako and Bolin off the street and Mako becoming protective over you.

Warning: Brief street harassment which some readers may find triggering
You were home alone one day when you heard a noise in your back garden. You peaked through the blinds and found two men crouching low in your flower beds obviously hiding from someone. You figured it was the police until you saw Shady Shin’s gang members poking their noses around. You watched curiously and saw the boys made no movement towards the house or to steal anything, they were just hiding but the gang members were rapidly getting closer. So, not really thinking, you opened the back door and hissed at them to get inside. The smaller of the two bounded inside but the taller one paused before sighing and following. You shut the door and turned off the lights. “Who are you and why...” the smaller one started but you shushed him as the gang reached your house. They peaked over the fence but not finding anything moved on. “They’re gone but I wouldn’t go out so soon” you explained turning to face the two men and you finally got a good look at them. The tallest one was very obviously fire nation, chiselled chin, paler skin, amber eyes. The smaller one looked younger and definitely earth nation by his stature and features. They looked very different but there was an air of similarity between them. “Why did you help us?” the older one asked and you just looked between them “are you brothers?”. “We are!” the smaller one cried “Nobody ever works that out! I’m Bolin and this is my older brother Mako”. You nodded looking between them “I helped you because I didn’t want the gang to get you, I don’t know who you are or what you’ve done but I’m pretty sure you don’t deserve what they’d do if they caught you”. Bolin nodded “they’re mad cus we left the gang, we were only in it until we paid off our debt but Shady Shin wanted us to stay so we ran off”. “Bolin!” Mako cried “shut up!”. “Why? She’s not going to go rat on us after she saved us”. The older brother eyed you suspiciously “but what does she have to gain by saving us?”. “Maybe she just wanted to help?” you replied and Mako frowned not believing you. “Look my family will be home soon, my mom and dad are both pretty smart, they’ll be able to get you out of the city and somewhere safe so just sit tight for a while okay?”. Mako looked like he wanted nothing more than to run away but he glanced at Bolin who was sniffing the air “are you cooking something?”. You smirked and led him to the kitchen “it’s only cabbage soup but there’s plenty if you want some?”. “Yes please!” Bolin cried and Mako sighed “Bolin....we can’t pay her”. “You don’t need to pay me” you told the fire bender “my parents would kill me if I charged someone in need”. “We don’t take charity” the older brother snapped and you sighed “well don’t think of it that way, think of it as being a friendly neighbour”. Bolin stared at Mako pleadingly and Mako sighed “fine Bolin you have some but I'm okay”. “Suit yourself the offers there” you shrugged and led Bolin to the food.
While Bolin was eating you noticed Mako standing weird and frowned “where is it?” you asked and Mako jumped. “What?” Bolin asked but you kept your eyes on Mako “where is it?”. Mako looked down “i don’t know what you’re talking about”. You rolled your eyes “my dad’s a nurse, I know how someone looks when they’re injured”. Bolin gasped “they did stab you! Mako why didn’t you tell me”. “They didn’t stab me...it’s just a scratch” Mako said as Bolin started to tear up. You took out a first aid kit and put it on the table “if you show it me, i can help before my dad comes”. “No” Mako said “i’m fine”. You rolled your eyes “i’m not going to hurt you, just let me help”. Mako sighed and lifted up his shirt. Bolin gasped “ow no Mako you’re going to die!” and Mako glared at you. “No he won’t Bolin” you said calmly “he will need stitches which I can’t do but I can clean and bandage it till my dad gets back, okay?” you asked Mako. Mako seemed very angry at the whole situation but sighed “fine” and allowed you to approach him. You had just finished cleaning the room when the door went and your parents and 3 younger siblings all walked in. Everyone paused and you turned to them. Mako threw his shirt down immediately and Bolin stood up so quickly he almost knocked the table over. Your parents took in the situation and nodded “what's happening and how can we help?”.
You explained the situation to your family and they agreed to help. Your father stitched Mako up and you helped as your mother talked through their options. Your parents didn’t even ask what the brothers had gotten into or why they were involved with the gang in the first place. They just asked questions to assess how the brothers could get to safety. Your mother asked if they had any other relative that could help but Mako shook his head “we don’t have any other family”. “Well, we do have some distant relatives in Ba Sing Sei” Bolin added. “But we’ve never even met them” Mako cried “why would they take us in?”. Your father went to speak when someone knocked loudly on the door. “Stay here” your mother said and your father nodded “y/n finish this off for me”. Your parents headed to the door and you worked on sealing and bandaging Mako’s wound.
As you were working you heard the door open and your father ask “can i help you?”. “We know you’ve got them so let us have them or else yeah?” a voice responded and Bolin froze “that’s Hulo and Chehe!”. Mako stepped forwards and you grabbed his arm “no don’t, you’ll make it worse”. I’m not letting your parents endanger themselves for us” Mako cried and gently removed your hand. After commanding your siblings to stay put, you and Bolin scrambled after him. You saw your parents arguing with two men but they paused when they saw Mako. “Ahhh decided to give yourself up eh Mako? You always were the smart one”. Mako stood up taller and didn’t let the pain of his wound show “don’t hurt any of them, we’ll come with you” he spoke confidently. “Not a chance” your mother said and she stepped right in front of the man blocking Mako from his view. You saw the man pause at your mother’s act and they frowned recognising her voice. Your mother was well known in the community, she owned a store not far from your house and was well-liked for being a kind woman always available to help others. You knew she’d helped some of the gang with their wounds before and sure enough so did the men. “You’re the woman from that store, you patched me up once after a fight....I didn’t realise this was your house Ika”. Your mother nodded “it is and anyone in it, is my responsibility”. “Yeah but see they’re shady Shin’s men....”. “They said they paid their debt” your father piped up “this isn’t Shady Shin’s territory, if he lets them go he won’t be bothered by them ever again, we’ll make sure of it”. The men looked at your father and then to your mother “you can promise that?”. Your mother stared back at them “you have my word”. The men stared before looking away “that sounds reasonable but if we see either of them near our territory....”. “We understand” your mother nodded and the men walked away. Your parents closed the door and Bolin cheered “you saved us!” rushing to hug them. You laughed as did your siblings who had not listened to you but Mako just stared. “Why did you do that?” he asked “you know they could just come back now you’ve stood up for us?”. “Then can try” your father smiled “but me and Ika are known for being able to handle ourselves, we’ve always left the gangs alone and they’ve left us alone too, I think we’ll be okay”. Your parents led you back to the kitchen but Mako wouldn’t budge. “But why risk it?” Mako asked “for someone you don’t even know! You put all your children at risk” Mako said gesturing at you and your siblings “just for 2 strange boys? Why?”. Your father frowned but your mother shrugged “because we hope that if something happened to us another person would do the same for our kids” she said simply “the world’s a cold place but it only gets colder if we turn our backs on those in need, I’m not sending you or your brother back out there because it’s the right thing to do, it’s that simple”. “Really?” Mako asked and your dad nodded putting his arm around your mother “yes”. Bolin grinned “i think i’m going to love it here” and Mako frowned “we’re only staying for one night”. Your father went to argue but your mom silenced him with a look “if you say so but you can have a room in the attic for as long as you need it, it’s not charity. We can help you find good jobs and you can pay a small fee for the room and food. But if you’d rather go out in the cold and make it on your own...that’s okay too”. Mako looked down and you smiled at your mother and how clever she was. Your family started dishing out food and you smirked as Bolin took a seat at the table for seconds. Mako let you finish bandaging his wound but didn’t sit down, he stood by the window. Your mom glanced at him and then at you “y/n why don’t you show Mako the room, the two of you could clear out some of the stuff in there?”. You nodded and looked at Mako “this way”. Mako followed you through your house and you smiled “our house is nice but it has a few quirks you should probably know about” you explained “don’t step on the 8th step, the living room door doesn’t close properly....ow and you’ll probably have to bend your head on all the stairs but it’s a good home. Small and crowded but nice” you said and Mako nodded in response. You could see why nobody figured Bolin and Mako were brothers, they couldn’t be more different. You could hear Bolin downstairs chatting loudly while Mako just followed you silently. You reached the attic and flicked on the light. “Wow, this is bigger than I expected” Mako said and you nodded “my mom used it as an office but now it’s mainly storage”. Together you and Mako managed to clear most of said storage and revealed the two beds in the back of the room. “You’ll need new bedding and it might smell a bit musty but we can air it” you said smiling and Mako paused “why are you all so nice?”. You paused “I don’t think we are....we just do what anyone would do”. Mako shook his head “no you don’t...trust me I’ve met a lot of people and they’d sooner chase me and my brother away from their lawn than give us a meal and a bed”. You shrugged “my parents both came from humble beginnings but they had kind people who helped them, maybe that’s why they’re like they are....either way I’d say stop questioning why life’s throwing this at you and maybe just say thank you?”. Mako looked down and nodded “I’ve been rude, I apologise. Thank you for...this, it all happened because you let us both in...so thanks”. You grinned at how awkward Mako was when you heard footsteps and Bolin and your parents appeared. “This is our room?” Bolin cried and you laughed how everything amazed him. “For as long as you want it” your father nodded and Bolin dove on a bed “and we get our own beds too! Mako this is amazing isn’t it!”. Mako nodded and turned to face your parents “thank you for everything”. Your parents blinked in surprise and you smiled just a little bit proud. “It’s no problem” your mother replied and Mako looked down “if it’s okay with you...the plan you said before, could we maybe try that?”. Bolin gasped in suprised and your parents smiled. “Of course” your mother smiled “for the next few days just lay low and rest up and then in the next few weeks we’ll find you a job you like and go from there, sound good?”. Mako nodded his head and looked from your parents to you finally “yes, thank you”. You smiled “no problem” and Mako smiled softly back trying to return the gesture. Your parents smiled glancing from you to Mako. “We’ll let you boys sleep now, let us know if you need anything, bathroom’s second door on the right and there’s food in the kitchen if you get hungry”. “We’ll be okay” Mako said seeing Bolin’s eyes light up at the thought of thirds “thanks again, see you in the morning”. “Good night” you smiled and Mako nodded “good night”. “Good niggggght” Bolin sang and you laughed before following your parents downstairs. “I think we’re going to like it here” Bolin said sleepily into his pillow and Mako nodded “yeah maybe”. “They’re all so nice! I can’t believe y/n just saved us like that and her parents, they’re all something special aren’t they?”. Mako nodded “they sure are”.
2 months later
The house was definitely more crowded with Bolin and Mako in it. The attic was just big enough for them but between you, your 3 siblings and your parents, the two men were noted. The house was always bustling with movement or noise and Mako and Bolin fit right in with that aspect. Bolin was loud and friendly so got on with everyone easily and even Mako began to open up and talk more. The brothers were both very polite and while they laid low from the gang they offered to help in the house as much as possible. Even when Mako got a job (your parents refused to make Bolin work given he was only fifteen) he still pitched in with the chores like you and your siblings did. The main things the brothers did was help your mother with the store and shopping. They were now the strongest people in the house so it made sense but you also got the idea they were protective over your parents after what they’d done for them. You saw the way Mako would give up his chair for your ageing father or how Bolin would pass your mother the first bowl of food and grew fonder of the brothers every day.
Bolin soon felt like another brother but Mako didn’t. There was something about him, his calm attitude or insanely handsome features, that made you excitedly nervous to be around him. You soon realised his cold exterior was an act he had to wear to protect him and Bolin but there was no need for it anymore and you noticed it rapidly slipping away. The more relaxed and genuine Mako became the more you liked him and the closer you became. Bolin would often rush right into whatever game your brothers were playing, being loud and boisterous like them, whereas Mako and you would usually end up on the outskirts avoiding the conflict. You soon came to love the evenings you spent sat in a corner of the living room together and knew you had a small/huge crush developing. You blushed easily around him and both seemed to awkwardly get caught in situations that made your feelings even more obvious.
For instance, one afternoon you were heading out to meet a friend when Mako and Bolin appeared with your mother and the food shopping for the week. You jumped spotting Mako so suddenly and he smiled making you feel weak “hi y/n, sorry didn’t mean to scare you”. “It’s fine....” you smiled back and went to retreat back up the hall so they could pass when Mako shook his head “it’s okay I think I can squeeze past!”. You stepped closer to the wall and Mako tried to bustle past you. He lifted the bags above your head trying to pass you when Bolin crashed into him trying to turn in a hallway too narrow for his broad shoulders sending Mako crashing into you. Mako tensed trying to stop himself from hurting you and managed to not put all his weight on you. He sighed and shot you a nervous smile as you were trapped against the wall by him “sorry”. “It’s not your fault” you smiled back “stay still I think I can slip out”. You tried getting out from under his arm but that was hard. Mako tried lifting the bag but it started to rip so you told him to stop. You ended up having to climb out under his arm and above his leg. Mako was blushing bright red when you managed it and you too felt flustered. You came into the living room to let Mako pass and then stood awkwardly by one another. "So you’re heading out?" Mako asked. You nodded "yes i’m meeting my friend Geho, i should be back late". Mako nodded resisting the urge to warn you about taking the main road not the back streets, a habit he’d gotten into with Bolin that had apparently passed onto you too. You almost sensed that and smiled "i’ll be careful" and Mako smiled "good" and tried not to watch as you walked away. Mako liked you too.
Later that evening your mother realised she’d forgotten to get the meat from the butchers and Mako and Bolin offered to go and fetch it. The shop would be closing soon so Mako and Bolin hurried to the store as quickly as they could. The streets were largely empty and as the brothers stood in the butcher waiting something caught their eye. "Is that y/n?" Bolin asked suddenly and Mako’s head shot around. Sure enough there you were walking, or more like running down the street in the direction of your house. "Who is that?" Bolin asked and they watched as some boy hurried after you calling after you. "That’s her friend Geho” Mako said recognising the boy but he frowned “something is not right". When you lifted your head slightly and Mako saw you were crying he shoved the list your mother had given him into Bolin’s hands and rushed after you. He jogged over to you at a fast pace but when he saw the boy touch your shoulder, trying to make you turn around and face him, he exploded in anger. "Hey" he yelled "get off her!". The boy looked back around just as Mako grabbed him by the shirt and threw him away from you against a wall. Mako held the boy off the floor being taller and growled fire on his fingertips. "Dude what the hell?" the guy cried trying to get free and you spun stound. "Mako it’s okay! Don’t hurt him". Mako frowned "but he was bothering you". "Well yes" you nodded and Mako glared until you touched his arm "Mako it’s alright, he'll leave me alone now, right Geho?". The man glared at Mako "don’t think your boyfriend here will give me much of a choice". "Geho it’s not like that..." you started but the boy swore and just walked away "fuck you y/n". Mako glared and went to follow him when he realised you were still crying. "Y/n" Mako said softly "are you okay? Do you need a tissue? A hug?". You took Mako’s last suggestion and buried your head against him. Mako wrapped his arms around you and rubbed your back saying soothing things. Mako held you tightly for a while before it started to rain and he frowned. "Come on let’s get you home" Mako said putting an arm around you and you nodded "thank you".
Mako got you home, upstairs and into your room without any of your family noticing. You sat on the edge of your bed not bothering to remove your coat, scarf or shoes and Mako frowned "y/n what happened". You wiped your eyes and looked at him "i just lost my best friend". Mako sat beside you "how?". You sniffed and Mako looked at you "y/n?". "Geho asked me out...he’s apparently liked me for a while and i had no idea! I told him i didn’t feel that way and he got angry and aggressively persistent. He was trying to convince me to give him a chance and getting madder that I didn’t want to when you got him away from me". Mako raised an eyebrow "he got mad at you for not liking him?". You nodded and Mako shook his head. Mako went to comment on how stupid that was when you sighed "i mean maybe it was my fault, maybe i was too friendly and gave him the wrong idea, I should’ve noticed he liked me...". Mako almost produced fire that idea made him so angry. "No" Mako said firmly "y/n you did nothing wrong! Being friendly is no invitation for a guy to try something with you and you’re not supposed to always know how he feels. He’s a grown man he could just tell you..." Mako trailed off realising that applied to him too and coughed "and to blame you for not liking him...y/n he’s an asshole and you deserve way better friends than him". "But he’s my oldest friend" you sniffed and Mako shrugged "well if he’s a true friend he'll come back and apologise, i think he should beg for forgiveness personally". Mako relaxed to see you smile slightly. "And if he doesn’t then who needs him? You don’t need guys like that around you y/n, nobody should ever treat you that way". You smiled looking up at Mako "how are you so sure?". "Because it’s common courtesy, because it takes nothing to be polite. After all, friends should never blame you for your feelings or things you can’t control, because you’re the kindest sweetest person i know and if anyone does ever treat you that way i will put a stop to it". You smiled softly "like today? You were like a knight in shining armour, you just appeared out of nowhere". Mako smiled "i’m just glad i was nearby, when i saw him reach out for you...". You tensed and Mako frowned "but you’re okay, you’re safe" he rushed to reassure you. You nodded "thanks to you". "You know i can teach you some stuff" Mako told you "so you know what to do if a guy tries to grab you like that again". "You can?" you asked and Mako nodded "there’s actually a lot of ways to get out of holds and to reverse them on the person, I can show you a bunch of ways to protect yourself". "You’d help me with that?" you asked and Mako nodded "of course!". You smiled "thanks Mako that’s amazing! I’m so glad i met you". Mako’s heart lifted and he smiled "i’m glad i met you too". He wanted to tuck that piece of hair behind your ear but didn’t want to touch you and scare you after what had just happened. "I think i’m going to shower and then go to sleep" you announced and Mako nodded standing up. "Thanks for today" you smiled at him and Mako nodded "no problem and if you need me, for anything, even if it’s just to have someone with you until you fall asleep...just call me". You smiled "thanks Mako" and he focused on your watery eyes and red nose and just wanted to comfort you. "Can i hug you?" he asked and you blushed but were so pleased he asked for permission. "Yes" you smiled and he wrapped you in a hug. You hugged him tightly feeling safe there and when you seperated Mako was worried to see you were crying again. "Y/n are you alright...". "Yes you just make me feel safe" you smiled through tears "that’s all". Mako blushed and felt so proud he made you feel that way. “That makes me glad to hear, I’d do anything to keep you safe and well....all your family” he trailed off and you smiled. “Well you do so thank you...for being you I guess?” you said awkwardly and Mako laughed. “No problem...I meant what I said, just bang on the ceiling if you need me” Mako said as his room was above yours. “Thanks Mako” you smiled and Mako nodded leaving your room.
Mako closed your door softly and walked to his own room. Bolin burst in soon after and gasped “where’s y/n? Is she okay?”. “She’s alright, her friend was harassing her but I got him to leave her alone, hopefully he’ll never go near her again but if he does....”. Bolin laughed “I can imagine what you’d do to him for messing with y/n given your feelings for her”. Mako blushed looking away “is it that obvious?”. “Ow yeah to everyone apart from her” Bolin nodded “but maybe not after today”. “I’d have helped her regardless” Mako explained and Bolin nodded “yeah I know...but I don’t think you’d be so emotional and protective, all i’m saying is she might’ve noticed that”. “Maybe” Mako nodded “but after what she’s been through the last thing I want to do is to put any pressure on her”. Bolin nodded “i get that, so just let her come to you, or wait for enough time to pass and then ask her out”. Mako nodded “I think the first option” and Bolin smirked “chicken!”. Mako shook his head “you didn’t see how upset she was, I’d do anything not to see her cry again...I’ll let her come to me if or when she wants to, I’m not going to stop showing I care about her but I’m also not going to force her to decide anything, I’ll be here if she wants me” Mako said adamantly. Bolin smiled “aww my big brother all in love, so cute”. Mako blushed and pushed Bolin away from him. “You’re an idiot” he huffed and got into bed turning the light out. Mako listened as Bolin pottered around the room and he sighed. “You’re not an idiot Bolin you’re just...accurately annoying” Mako clarified. “I know” Bolin smirked and Mako rolled his eyes. Bolin was exactly right, Mako had fallen for you hard and he’d do anything to protect you. He meant what he said though and wouldn’t pressure you in any way, he’d wait for you....as long as it took.
____
I only recently realised Mako was only 8 when his parents died and he became Bolin’s guardian which made me really sad...so I wanted to write something where someone looked after Mako for once.

CQL!AU: Everyone is an orphan except Wei Wuxian, and the Twin Jades are dark practitioners. Needless to say, that changes things. (canon what canon)
Master Post
~
[1-3]
[1] Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan were the ones who died early. Wei Changze returned to Lotus Pier to become the guardian and regent of his best friend’s son and heir.
Lotus Pier was black and white. Lifeless.
That was the first thought that crossed Cangse Sanren’s mind when she and Wei Changze docked at the port, swords in hand, and their little son in toll.
The people mourned. Posts were temporarily closed, the market suspended. Windows and doors of their bustling riverside town were firmly shut, with white and black drapes hanging from its sills and fluttering in the wind.
Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan were dead. Two young cultivators, parents, taken from this world too young, gone before their time.
“A-Ying, come child,” Cangse extended a hand to the boy who glanced around at the unfamiliar place with timid curiosity.
“A-niang, what’s going on?”
“No questions. You must behave yourself today.” Cangse brought her son closer to her, watching her husband’s usually smiling, gentle face pull taut into a mask that betrayed none of the grief he felt underneath. He held himself taller today, shoulders pulled back, spine rod-straight and jaws clenched. She’d forgotten, after all these wonderful years of travelling the world with their family, that this place was once his home.
“Er’shixiong,” a man greeted them at the pier, flanked by a party of younger Jiang disciples, all appropriately garbed with white sashes around their waist. “Cangse-daozhang.”
They had spoken in depth about returning. Cangse knew there was nothing she could do to stop him; Changze’s devotion to Jiang Fengmian ran deeper than she understood. It was never herself that Yu Ziyuan should’ve resented; though however misplaced Madam Yu’s jealousy had been, it was a moot point now.
Chang’ge, I will not ask you to choose between your love for him and your promise to me. If Lotus Pier is where you wish to go, I will go with you. I cannot promise however that I will always stay. That — is not my nature.
Thank you, Wumei*. I understand.
They found Jiang Wanyin, the little lord, and his sister Jiang Yanli, in their mourning robes, kneeling and crying before their parents’ funeral altar.
Wei Changze sunk to his knees beside them, and folded his body until his forehead hit the ground. “Shixiong,” he spoke to the spirits. “I’ve come back.”
“Who are you?!” The boy Jiang Cheng, five-years-old and hurting, blurted out rudely through his tears. His sister held him from behind and gave a trembling nod of deference to the older man.
“Wei-shishu.”
Beside her, clinging to her skirt, Wei Ying looked up and asked quietly, “A-niang, are we going to stay?”
Cangse Sanren, the favoured fifth pupil of Baoshan Sanren herself, smiled down quietly at her only child and smoothed back his hair. “Yes, A-Ying we will. Lotus Pier is home now.”

[2] When Qingheng-jun’s respected mentor died - murdered - he made a very different choice. He turned his back on his clan and his responsibilities, and escaped into the wild with the woman he loved. They were just an ordinary family, living away from the chaos in a paradise of their own. But even Eden eventually falls, and nothing gold ever stays...
Take A-Huan and A-Zhan and go! Do not stop until you are safe. Do not turn around. Do not come back.
Shijie! You’re injured! Let me help you -
Zhao Ming! Zhao Zhuliu, you listen to me: their names, Lan Xichen for the older, and Lan Wangji for the younger. It’s what their father and I wanted for them.
Shijie - jiejie -
Now go! Go!
A-Niang, come with us! A-Niang, don’t go!! A-Niang!!!
The forest burned like the autumn sun at dusk descending from the sky, red and golden and glorious. A single figure stood amongst the flames, corpses littered at her feet. Bichen fell from her grip, barely making a sound as it landed against dampened earth, soaked with Lan blood.  Those who fought her were dead, but she feared that she did not have long either.
“Rong-gege,” Qiu Baiti collapsed onto her hands and dragged her body towards the man who lay still amongst the carnage, arrows piercing his front, his sword Shuoyue still clutched tight in his left hand.
Lifeless eyes remained open, as though he could not rest.
“Rong-gege,” Baiti called helplessly, crawling to him and laying her head down against his chest. There used to be a heartbeat there, and if she closed her eyes, she could almost hear it again. “Wait, don’t go without me...”
She was so tired and bled from so many places. It was not until a sharp cry and a familiar face descended from the sky that Qiu Baiti realized the inferno which surrounded her was not yet hell.
"Qiu-jiejie!" Cangse rushed forth, almost tripping over the corpse of a dead Lan disciple in her haste. “Lan-da’ge, he -” A horrified gasp drowned the rest of her words.
“Cangse...you’re here...”
Cangse gathered her bosom sister into her arms and immediately drew upon a torrent of spiritual energy from her core, channeling them into her fingertips to heal her friend. She could tell that whatever combat Qiu Baiti had been through, it had already taken the little life inside her, and now hers was following it to the other side.
“Hold on, I can save you - hold on -”
“Cangse - Cang - stop, it’s too late.” Qiu Baiti lay limp there.
Death, it drew near, but she was ready. She closed her eyes as a slip of tear escaped beneath her lashes. "I did this to him, to all of them... if I hadn't...it’s all my fault. I was the one they wanted; he was just trying to protect me. A-Huan, A-Zhan...."
Trembling and in near hysterics, Cangse sobbed, No, don’t say that! Where are the boys?”
“Safe. A-Ming has them...you mustn’t tell anyone. Not anyone, promise me. Not even Lan Qiren. Especially Lan Qiren... Rong-gege trusts his brother, but I - I - promise me - promise -” Qiu Baiti gasped for breath, gurgling blood in her throat with each laboured attempt.
“Qiu-jiejie, please - don’t - I - I promise.”
“Good...Cangse...” Qiu Baiti clutched her hand and smiled, a crimson wound cutting across her pale, beautiful face. “Good.”
And then she died, with the red of the forest flames still in her eyes.
Cangse held her friend - dear, damned, dead - and allowed a scream to tear through herself. From the depth of her grief, she released a pulse of unrestrained spiritual energy that rippled through the dense woods as though the storm of her anguish could not be contained. And like a measly candle-light assaulted by the winter wind, the forest fire was extinguished in an instant.
The sun was gone, and the night was dark.  All was quiet, but there was no peace to be found.
Cangse buried Lan Cenrong and Qiu Baiti in two unmarked graves side by side beneath a tall oak tree. She sifted through the bodies and the grime and collected the spiritual weapons they left behind — Shuoyue, Bichen, Liebing (cracked in two places) and the strings of Qiu Baiti’s shattered guqin — and stored them away in her qiankun pouch. She hoped one day that she would find Zhao Zhuliu and the sons Lan Cenrong and Qiu Baiti had left behind, and return these items to their rightful owners.
It was not until three years later, not too far from her shifu Baoshan’s sacred temple nestled in the snowy mountain peak, where Jiang Yanli had been brought to strengthen her health and train as Cangse’s direct disciple, that Cangse perchance came across Zhao Ming again.
He was accompanied by two youngsters, two beautiful jade-like children who called him jiufu. Cangse was not surprised in the least to find that both of them have learned the technique for which their mother and jiujiu were hunted: the core-melting hand.

[3] They called her “The Little Queen”. Wen Qing never wanted to be Sect Master, or Deputy Sect Master, or Regent Sect Master. She just wanted to live quietly with A-Ning and Wen-popo and study the art of healing that her parents practiced. But alas, life had other plans.
Wen Qing was a month short of her tenth birthday when her life changed forever.
Wen Ruohan, her father’s older cousin, who’d always been close with her family, had come to visit Dafan. Wen-bobo didn’t have siblings, and her father Wen Ruotian was as close as a brother to him, more than any other Wen descendent of their time.
Wen Qing liked Wen Ruohan well. He was doting and found her intelligent. Her parents chose the simple village life, but they often spent New Years and holy days at Nevernight at Sect Master Wen’s behest and invitation.
When Wen Ruohan came to Dafan and told her folks that there was a piece of the Yin Iron inside the Stone Fairy, her father had been eager to help, though weary he was of those powers he could not understand.
He’d been right to be afraid.
The extraction had gone horribly wrong, and the rebound of dark energy had eviscerated all those near by, her mother, her father, and Wen Ruohan himself. It was by the skin of her teeth that Wen Qing managed to yank her baby brother Wen Ning out of the way. Then, without thinking, she caught the vile, wretched thing as it sailed through the air. It landed in the palm of her hands, and there she stood, regarded with fear and bewonderment from all those in witness as the cursed item, which burned the life out of cultivators much older and seasoned than her, quieted in her small hands.
The Elders said she had...a nature affinity. For what, they could not say.
Wen Qing was brought back to Nevernight and given the name Yuefan: to exceed mortality. Within days, the heavy crown of Sect Master of Qishan Wen was placed on her head.
It was then that she learned that her Wen-bobo, with no inclination to marry and bind himself to another, did not leave behind a legitimate heir. His young sons, 4-year old Wen Xu and 2 year-old Wen Chao were born to him by women of ill repute.  They were kind, good boys, but they were infantile and illegitimate. Wen Qing felt for them, but she could not change their fate. So for the time being, she accepted what she had to.
The adults did what they could for her, but there was no one in the cold, vast palace of Nevernight to mind her or nurture her. She stood alone upon the towers where the eternal flames, fuelled by Qishan Wen’s combined spiritual energy, burned in their iron brazier, and watched over the lush volcanic mountain range that was hers to govern and protect. Those beneath her - servants, disciples - feared her and her unknown powers. Those advising her - Elders, mentors - had their own agendas. In any case, they stopped seeing her as a child the minute she held the Yin Iron in her hands and lived to tell the tale.
It was a secret, they told her. She must guard it well.
The Chief Cultivator Jin Guangshan sent his ambassadors to congratulate her succession. Gusu’s Lan Qiren and Qinghe’s Nie Heqiu both arrived consecutively to pay their respects to their ten-year-old colleague and fellow Sect Master.
There was a momentary rumble amongst the Wen Elders about whether Nie Heqiu’s older son Nie Mingjue would be a good match for her someday, but as he too was set to inherit, the idea was put aside as quickly as it was brought up.
Then came Yunmeng’s regent Wei Changze, bringing along an entourage of Jiang disciples and a boy one year her junior, the son he conceived with the revered Cangse Sanren.
Wei Wuxian.
Wen Qing liked him enough. He was spontaneous, agreeable, and clever, and he found her aloofness fun to provoke. They would’ve both been satisfied with the arrangement had she not met Yunmeng Jiang’s young Jiang-zongzhu some years later, and had he not crossed paths with the vengeful and infamous Lan Wangji.
But life, as the gods have planned it, must have its mysteries.

tiny lights, tiny lies | ksj x reader
Tumblr media
summary: you aren’t sure when exactly your best friend’s brother went from being an oddly annoying set of broad shoulders to the shoulders you frequently fell asleep against.
pairing: kim seokjin x reader
genre/au: fluff, best friend’s brother!au, friends to lovers
word count: 1.7k words
rating: PG-13
warnings: kissing. not much else.
a/n: hello all. i’m trying to get back into writing again. the goal is to finish the two fics from a collab which i’ve delayed for months now :((((( but i hope to finish them soon! much love.
Tumblr media
Growing up as an only child meant that you spent a lot of your time sulking about the fact that you had no siblings like your closest friends. Sure, you didn’t have to fight about whether to watch Pokemon on Cartoon Network or Yu Yu Hakusho on Animax - that was Jimin and his younger brother - or having to drive underage siblings to after school activities - Hoseok’s older sister had given you all the stink eye for being part of the same music group she had to drive her brother to every Wednesday and Thursday. But there was always a small part of you that felt like you would never be quite like your friends because you would never understand the relationship that was so tight and intimate that people were able to love and hate so freely in its confines.
This feeling was especially heightened whenever you visited your best friend Jina’s house. Because not only did her house have an unlimited supply of video games and homemade snacks for her three excitable friends, there was also the prospect of running into her older brother - Seokjin.
When you had first become friends with Jina and Jimin, your six year old self had little interest in the much taller and considerably less friendly Seokjin who stood at an impressive ten years of age. The only remarkable thing you could possibly attribute to Jina’s older brother was that his best friend had a younger brother who had been dumped into your group to find more friends his age - and Hoseok had taken less than a day to become inseparable from the rest of you.
As the four of you stepped into your teens, the increasingly broad shoulders looking out for his younger sister made you just the slightest bit resentful. You were more and more inclined to feeling annoyed when you realised that Seokjin would occasionally be driving you guys to different activities because he now had a license. It just heightened the absurd feeling of jealousy. But as Seokjin got closer to college, his presence in his sister’s friends’ lives diminished substantially. You saw him during Jina’s birthday, or outside the guidance counsellor’s office as he tried to get through college applications. And when he left for one of the top universities in the country, you didn’t feel even a little bit sad. Most of your time was spent trying to help Jina take care of her broken leg, or comfort Hoseok who was missing his sister more than he had expected to.
It was only after finding yourself in a new city with a new job that running into a familiar face had brought you more joy than 15 years of knowing him had. Although initially, there was a tendency to fall into old ways and navigate the encounters as ones with your friend’s older brother, Seokjin eliminated that by embracing you as your own separate person removed from the connection to his sister. It was unexpected, but that was also the first time that you ever really allowed yourself to look at him as Seokjin.
Forming a friendship outside of Jina’s common link was much easier than you had expected. He was a very interesting person - adventurous, witty, caring, and full of a brilliant sort of unpredictability that left you breathless. It was a friendship that centred around two equal partners but was grounded in an unspoken connection formed years ago. Be it a random visit to the soap bubble installation at the museum, or a lazy afternoon of sorting the various kinds of pasta at his apartment, there was never a moment you didn’t enjoy with him.
“You’re out of chocolate biscuits.” Seokjin chimed from the kitchen, the sound of cabinet doors opening and closing alongside.
You yawned and checked the grocery list on your phone. “Hmm, I’ve added it to the list.”
“You wanna go grocery shopping tomorrow?” he asked, sitting down beside with an audible thump. “I can drive us there in the morning before my client meeting at 1 pm.”
“Hmm,” was all that came out of your mouth. The exhaustion of the last week of the month was catching up earlier than usual. “Sure, let’s meet at one.”
Seokjin chuckled. “I hope you have your appointments for tomorrow written down somewhere because that brain of yours is currently undergoing maintenance.”
“Sounds good,” you mumbled, dozing off almost immediately. Next to you, he lowered the TV’s volume and finished watching the match you had both intended to watch together. The soft noises of Seokjin munching on chocolate flavored cereal blended together with the whirring of the ceiling fan. Your head lolled slightly onto his shoulder and he adjusted himself to make sure you didn’t strain yourself while sleeping.
This was where you felt safest.
The match ended a while later and Seokjin made sure to drape a light blanket on top of you before leaving. If you had stirred awake at that exact moment, you would have noticed the longing in his eyes and the soft frustrated sigh that escaped him as he made sure you were tucked in properly. You would have observed the way his eyes lingered on your lips for the briefest moments as his ears turned that beautifully soft shade of pink. You would’ve also seen the flicker of uncertainty in his expression as he shook himself out of his thoughts, reminding himself that you were his friend - his little sister’s friend, the kid he had grown up with - and no matter how attracted he was to you, there were certain lines he could not cross.
But you were fast asleep, blissfully unaware of everything that had gone through Seokjin’s head in the span of 10 seconds.
And the next morning, when the two of you roamed the aisles of the grocery store, his expression was lighthearted as usual, emotions kept under check with a practised sort of ease.
“I want to try that garlic shrimp recipe,” you said, glancing at the expiry date for a pack of raisins. “You know, the one that is steamed slowly in a stainless steel container?”
Seokjin continued scrolling through his phone, a slight frown denting his forehead. “Yeah why not. Doesn’t really need a lot of ingredients.”
You realised that it was nearly half past 12. His meeting was going to start soon and he was still here, waiting for you to finish with your groceries.
“I told Maya that I’d meet her at Bobalicious for lunch. You should get going, she can give me a ride home after that.” Bobalicious was a delightful little eatery right next to the grocery store, and it was the perfect place to grab lunch after a grocery run.
Except that you hadn’t made any plans with Maya.
“Are you sure?” Seokjin asked, looking at you inquiringly. “I’ll get going then. Text me later.”
Maybe you shouldn’t have lied. But you were quite certain Seokjin wouldn’t have left for his meeting without dropping you home with your groceries. And the thought of him being late for his meeting because he was just too damned nice, made you feel much worse than inventing a tiny lie.
Plus, Bobalicious had half price lunch items before 2 pm!
Seokjin’s apartment complex had a beautiful rooftop area where residents could host little gatherings. He would sometimes invite you and a couple of work friends for dinner at the rooftop, showing off his culinary skills and impeccable hosting abilities with barely restrained delight.
Tonight, however, it was just the two of you.
A bottle of wine stood open at the table, surrounded by crumbs from the simple dinner he had cooked. Someone had put up tiny string lights along the walls of the rooftop, illuminating the place with a soft glow.
“Sorry it was just pasta tonight,” Seokjin sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly. “Christine held me up at work.”
Christine was one of Seokjin’s older coworkers, and it was strange to imagine her keeping him back after hours.
“Oh? Anything wrong?”
“No. Nothing like that. It was just-” He let out an abrupt laugh, shaking his head slowly. “It doesn’t matter.”
Now you were curious. “What happened? Tell me.”
He sighed. “She wanted to make sure I was okay. One of the new finance people asked me out after flirting with me very publicly over the last month or so.”
You felt a tiny prick of annoyance. “So? What does that have to do with Christine?”
“Nothing. She knows I’m pretty reserved and asked me to stay behind after work to make sure I wasn’t feeling uncomfortable because of that. She’s just looking out for me.”
“And what did you say?”
He shrugged. “What’s there to say? I’m not particularly uncomfortable because Lucy Evans asked me out.”
You nodded, still feeling strangely annoyed by the conversation.
“Although,” he continued, with a slight chuckle. “Christine was very interested in my answer after making sure I wasn’t uncomfortable.”
“Your answer?”
“To Lucy asking me out.”
“I see.”
You snuck a glance at him. Strands of his hair were coming loose from the gel he used to keep it off his forehead at work.
“Yep, she wanted to know whether I was going to say yes to her or not. It’s kind of funn-”
His words were cut off as you leaned forward and kissed his cheek.
“Y/N?!” His eyes looked at you in confusion, the tips of his ears turning red.
Fighting off the nerves after that incredibly impulsive kiss, you looked away determinedly. “I don’t know if you’re ever going to make a move, so I thought I might as well.”
Every fibre of your being was asking you to run for it but somehow you managed to stay put. “Don’t say yes to Lucy Evans. Go out with me. We’re practically dating already. I’ve liked you for many years now, and I’m pretty sure you have feelings for me as well. So all that’s left is for you to kiss me properly.”
A soft chuckle indicated that he had heard everything you had said. Placing a finger under your chin, he steered your face towards himself. He licked his lips quickly before leaning forward and kissing you. It was soft, just as you'd imagined his lips would be. The kisses were deliciously slow, leaving you feeling slightly heady and clutching onto the collar of his unbuttoned office shirt.
“Wow.” He pulled away, looking flushed and so utterly gorgeous that you were almost tempted to forget about breathing and just keep kissing him for eternity. “Gotta say, I’m a fan.”
You stayed over that night.

Can I get headcanons for an au where Bruce adopted the kids when they /were/ babies, please?
Use the bathroom, get comfortable, and maybe have some tissues on hand.
For these headcanons, we’re gonna assume they were adopted in order of age, and that they’re all under 18. So Dick and Babs are 16 (with Babs being older), Harper is 14, Cass is 13, Jason is 12, Tim is 7, Steph and Duke are both 5 (with Steph being older), Carrie is 3, and Damian is 1. Yes, I’m aware that it diverges from canon age gaps but once you keep reading you’ll see why I did that.
Now for the headcanons (in no particular order):
Alfred is “Grandpa” and Bruce is anything from “Dad”, “Pops”, “Old man”, “Baba”, etc. All the other adults, like Kate or Clark, are aunts and uncles.
Steph and Duke compete over everything, like who can tie their shoes the fastest or learn to ride a bike first. Steph makes a point of letting everyone know she’s older, but Duke fires back with the fact that he’s taller. They’re both at the top of their kindergarten class and are known for butting heads, but God help anyone who decides to pick on one of them.
Harper got her first period at school while wearing white shorts. Thankfully, Dick and Babs came in clutch.
At school, Kon told Tim that he got ten dollars every time he lost a tooth. Tim tried to hack the system by pulling a bunch of teeth out at once (thankfully to no avail) until someone caught him.
Babs has a different secret handshake with each person.
When Damian first came along, everyone expected Carrie to be angry or jealous since she’d no longer be the baby of the family. And she was a little jealous at first. But the moment she saw him, her eyes went wide and she whispered, “He’s so tiny” and vowed to protect him with everything she had.
The last business trip Bruce took was when Cass was a baby, and the reason why it was his last one was that while he was abroad, Alfred sent him a video of Cass taking her first steps and he burst into tears in the middle of a meeting because he wasn’t there to witness it in person.
Dick once used Damian as a wingman to pick up girls. It worked so well that Jason tried the same thing, only to have it grossly backfire on him.
Whenever Bruce needs a break, Alfred will call everyone to the living room for one of his infamous spy stories.
Cass is the queen of April Fool’s.
Tim, Steph, and Duke regularly climb on each other’s shoulders to try to reach the cookie jar.
Harper is a pro at getting gum out of people’s hair. Tim is a pro at the exact opposite.
Bruce gives Dick “the talk”. Dick then gives it to Harper who gives it to Cass who gives it to Jason and by then it’s so misconstrued by then that Bruce has to re-give it to all the kids.
One time Jason lashed out at school and it led to the teachers referring him to a therapist. Bruce stayed with him during the first appointment and Jason admitted to feeling unwanted because of what some kids at school said. Meanwhile, back at home, all the other siblings were trying to get their names to be Damian’s first word, like a competition. None of them ended up winning because when the other two came home, Damian called out to Jason. (And Jason cried on the spot because it didn’t matter what people said at school, he was wanted by the right people).
Group outings with the Kents or the Allens are a normal occurrence.
Harper gave Bruce a heart attack when she DIYed her hair dye and piercings.
The first time Tim saw a shooting star, he was convinced that aliens had arrived to take over the world. His conspiracy-driven panic spread to his younger siblings and that’s how Alfred found them all hiding in a blanket fort wearing saucepans as helmets.
Steph once got lost at the mall and the first thing she did was buy ten Build-A-Bears.
Cass regularly carries her younger siblings like suitcases.
Bruce never rushed Dick into getting a license or helping out around the house.
Harper once snuck on a train to the next town without telling anyone because she wanted to ask Kate advice on coming out.
Nobody got any sleep for the forty-eight hours when Damian’s favorite stuffed animal went missing.
Duke is a LEGO kid. Carrie is a horse girl. Together they created the ultimate toy equine sanctuary.
Bruce can’t ground the kids. They’ve unionized.
Jason is no longer allowed to pick movies on account of the time he chose an R-rated slasher.
It’s an open secret that Cass accidentally left Tim at a haunted house once.
Alfred custom sews a ten-person "get along" shirt.
Duke once snuck Damian to school for Show And Tell. Steph ratted him out almost right away.
Jason tried to make his younger siblings reenact Shakespeare. It lasted a good thirty seconds before it dissolved into people hitting each other with props.
As a big mystery/conspiracy theory person, Tim was wholly convinced that Damian was an extraterrestrial because the first time he saw him, it was at the hospital where Damian was hooked up to a bunch of machines after he was born. It wasn’t until after three different people explained the concept of preemies to him did Tim finally get it.
Carrie loves to play dress-up and will rope in anyone in the vicinity.
Bruce’s favorite song to sing to someone when they’re upset is Lean On Me by Bill Withers
Cass taught everyone obscenities in sign language and it was all fine until someone caught Babs at school and she got detention
Alfred can’t remember the last time the house was not babyproofed.
Between birthdays, holidays, Gotcha Days, and other special days, there’s always a reason to celebrate at Wayne Manor.
Whenever they fly on the private jet Duke's in the cockpit insisting he knows more about airplanes than the pilots (Alfred or Kate) bc he watched the Planes movie.
Harper got matching leather jackets for all the sisters.
Bruce gives Tim "coffee" that's 90% milk and a splash of coffee for flavor.
Cass and Jason communicate solely in inhuman grunts.
Carrie can and will latch onto the first person she sees like a koala bear.
There's a running gag among friends on how many siblings Dick has because he tells stories without ever using names.
Bruce comes home after a long day of work and everyone drops what they're doing to dogpile on him.
Harper only got an after school job to pay for her Club Penguin membership.
They all make snowmen in descending size order with Bruce's being this huge towering one and Damian's being like three inches tall.
The girls have a "no boys (except the baby) allowed" zone.
Carrie can't pronounce the letters "R" or L".
When Damian learns to crawl suddenly all the other family members become a jungle gym.
Bruce doesn't notice when someone invites a friend over without permission because what's a few extra kids anyway?
Harper comes out and for a week people wouldn't stop making bi puns.
They try to do that thing where each family member puts a different colored handprint on the mailbox and they end up running out of space.
As the oldest Dick gets stuck with babysitting or he's forced to let Jason tag along when he goes out (bc all parents make their older kids do that) and he resents it but at the same time no one can talk trash about his siblings.
Damian's animal collection begins when he brings in a mouse from the yard. (Cue the hilarious siblings-helping-him-hide-new-pets montages.)
Someone beat Bruce for “World’s most attractive man”, but that’s okay because he was voted “World’s happiest man” instead.

Instinct
Star: Kim Yoohyeon (Dreamcatcher)
Idea: No
A person who liked to hide in the shadows, secrets being buried in the depths. You carried it over from generation to generation but meeting new people, would you still continue to stay in the dark? To lie your way out of the questions that popped up, even if someone gets hurt
Warning/s: mention of blood
Tumblr media
You left your apartment wearing your jacket as you went down the elevator before stepping outside into the blazing sun, you walked down the street at the bus stop, waiting for your bus to arrive while you observed your surroundings.
You lived in a fair neighborhood, not much happening. It was a peaceful place, trees lining the streets, it was bright, colorful, and the locals were all in their late adult years so you had no issue with people constantly annoying you all the time.
You went to a good school, funded by your parents of course, who lived just a few cities away. They often visited you too during their off times while you would often go when you had free time but generally you could always go there if you wanted to. In school you got good grades, not the best of the best but it was high enough for you to pass.
Your friends were nice, as you made sure to stay away from the cliche cliques that would be a part of high school, which resulted in a lot of people concluding that you had a good life.
However, not everything is always perfect as it seems.
When you got to school you walked into your class sitting at your usual spot as you turned to your friend who was busy writing her notes, “Isn’t it a bit too early for this?” you asked the blue haired girl, who finished writing the sentence before glancing at you with her eyebrows raised,
“Do you have any other way to pass the time?” she asked, a teasing grin growing on your lips as you spoke.
“How about talk to the brunette you’ve been pining on for weeks?” you suggested with a hint of teasing, as the girl in front of you lowered her head. Her cheeks coating with a sheen of pink before she whined and pushed you in annoyance, “I’m not pining for her,” she muttered to herself but you did easily hear her, a laugh escaping past your lips.
In the corner of your eye you took a glance at the girl at the back, seeing the brunette twist her pen in her hands while conversing with her friends.
Your friend looked at you as you reached for your flask, another laugh pouring from your mouth at the glare she was giving you before taking a sip, causing her to inquire, “Isn't it too early for that?” she said, giving your own question back to you, her eyes wide with surprise and concern while you merely waved a hand at her.
“I didn’t eat breakfast,” you replied, shrugging your shoulders, taking one more sip before placing it back in your bag.
You made sure to wipe your lips as the bell rang, everyone inside the room standing to greet the teacher. She walked in front of four students walking behind her, following closely as the eldest woman stood a little to the side, letting them be the center of attention.
All the students in the class, including you, stared at the four in confusion, it’s been half the semester. Maybe they were exchange students? You thought as the woman smiled before speaking.
“Good morning class, I know it's a little later than normal, but the principal assigned us new students. As you might have heard on the news, there was an accident in Kingsville a few days ago that resulted in the loss of most of their facilities. Unfortunately most of it was deemed unrecoverable. But since our school is the closest it has encouraged many of their former students to continue their studies here, so let’s all listen to them, please introduce yourself, girls.”
They introduced themselves, the class seemed to love their enthusiasm, the bright smiles that they wore and the gratefulness in their tone made it all seem that they were new students introducing themselves on their first day, you listened and observed each one, first being Lee Siyeon who had white hair, sharp eyes, and a sharp jaw.
She spoke confidently and you didn’t know if it was you but she sort of resembles a wolf. The next was Kim Bora, black haired girl who had round eyes. She is the shortest out of the group but the energy she showed makes up for it.
Beside her was Lee Yubin, she had black hair that reached up to her back, her features were soft, her eyes were relaxed, and only gave a small smile as she bowed stepping back for the last one in the group, “Good morning everyone, my name is Kim Yoohyeon, please take care of me,”
Yoohyeon had silver hair, she had round eyes like Bora and when she smiled her eyes disappeared as they turned into crescents almost infecting said smile unto you, noticing as well that she was the tallest one in the group, contrasting to the girl a few feet from her. The group the seats around the room,
“Girls feel free to ask anyone for help, I know you’re a little late so don’t hesitate to ask if you need help,”
Once everyone was settled, the lecture started. The teacher paced it slowly, giving the girls an opportunity to catch on and understand, sometimes answering the question as best as they understood. Soon enough the period was over and you were already heading to the cafeteria for lunch,
Sitting down at your table your other companion was already there, smiling when she saw both of you approach, “Minji unnie,” you greeted her taking the seat beside the older girl and began to converse.
It was usually what you did during your lunch period, staying at your group as you talked about all the random things you could think about, sometimes relating to projects, certain teachers, and sometimes playing small games to pass the time. The three of you didn’t need to eat since you would do it sometime later anyway.
“Minji unnie, Dongie, are you free to come by to the apartment tonight? Mom and dad have been pestering me for weeks to have you two over,”
The two girls laughed but still agreeing, “I could imagine their faces,” Handong commented earning a groan of annoyance and an eye roll from you, though it was directed more jokingly,
“It’s like they’re not expecting me to be there when they come, the first thing I hear when they arrive is, ‘Handong and Minji, are they here?’ I feel replaced,” you complained, further increasing the chuckles coming from the two before a new voice joined in.
“Hi,” you take a glance to the side seeing Yoohyeon and Yubin, both holding a tray of food before the taller girl asked shyly, “Do you mind if we take a seat with you guys, the others are pretty cramped,” she asked, the three of you offering them a kind smile,
“Sure, nice to meet you, Yoohyeon and...Yubin isn’t it?” you asked the quiet girl who answered with a nod as they sat down, “Oh this is Minji unnie, she’s a friend of ours,” you introduced the eldest waving a hand to the two.
While Yoohyeon and Yubin started to eat, Minji started some small talk, just to relieve the awkwardness that was practically radiating off the two girls, only keeping their eyes focused on their food. You turned your head to busy yourself with something, catching a glance at a familiar white haired girl who pointed in your direction., “Do you know them?” turning to the two girls who looked up to see you gesturing to the white haired female who kept gazing at your particular direction.
“Oh, we do, Siyeon unnie!” Yoohyeon waved them over, the said girl talked with her companions seemingly whining based on the way her lips pouted and her eyebrows furrowed.
It took them a minute before three figures stood up, padding to your direction, a smile spread on your face when you noticed another familiar face approaching your table, “Hi,” the white haired introduced herself meeting all of your smiles.
“Siyeon right?” she nodded her head before all of your attention turned to the other two who came with her, you noticed the sharp inhale from your friend, side eyeing her with a small grin.
“This is my friend Bora and--”
“Gahyeon-ssi,” you finished for her, earning a nod from the brunette and the white haired, “She's my younger sister,” Siyeon explained, causing you, Minji, and Handong to look surprised. You were unaware that the brunette had any siblings, but in retrospect, you didn't speak with the quiet girl very frequently since she preferred to keep facts to herself.
You motioned for them to take a seat, observing how Handong's cheeks flushed when the brunette sat near her. You leaned back, a bright smile on your face, as you watched Handong becoming increasingly uncomfortable.
The discussion gradually developed over your time in the cafeteria, the uneasy air dispersing, as each one became a little comfortable with each other,
“Do you people not eat?” Yoohyeon inquired abruptly, observing how everyone else had their own trays while you three were conversing with them, “We like to skip lunch and have dinner later,” you answered, smiling again, before Minji continued the previous topic, essentially forcing them out of the topic.
The majority of the girls had become closer to your party by the end of the day, chatting often during breaks and exchanging laughs as you walked through the halls. “We'll see you tomorrow!” you grinned at their group as you and Handong waited for Minji to return.
“Would you two mind heading there first?” Minji inquired, typing on her phone before adding, "I have some stuff to complete, but I promise to make it before your parents arrive," you nodded and waved goodbye as you and Handong walked to the bus station for your bus.
Arriving at home Handong made herself at home, having been inside your apartment a multitude of times as you went to your room to get an extra pair for your friend to change in, when you entered the living room you threw your friend sweatpants and a hoodie getting your flask from your backpack and finishing the rest that it contained.
You licked your lips clean and hopped onto the couch taking Handong’s place as she entered your room to change.
After she left your room dressed more comfortably you turned on the TV, passing by the time and watching whatever was on while you waited for your guests.
--
You didn’t notice it but the show had been playing for a few hours, fully capturing both of your attention since you didn’t notice the sudden shift in the temperature, the mist that appeared in your hall, and you weren’t going to pay attention until you heard the footsteps in the hallway.
Turning your head, a smile appeared on your face when two figures emerged. Handong also turned her head, her own smile gracing her face, seeing the two older people walk in with grins.
“Auntie, uncle,” Handong greeted, but suddenly got pulled forward as your parents gave her a warm hug and while Handong was receiving a pat on the back, you stood there at the side a scowl replacing your smile as you took in the scene in front of you,
“Hello, excuse me!”
The three pulled apart seeing your expression, arms crossed against your chest while you pouted, “Oh, hi dear,” you scoffed hearing your mother’s greeting, the older woman rolled her eyes and moved to approach you but in the hallway mist appeared again as the sound of your other friend rang in your ears,
“Sorry I’m late!” Almost like magic, your mother’s attention moved to the purple haired girl.
“Minji!” Your jaws dropped as your parents rushed to hug the older girl, causing Handong to laugh beside you, “My parents don't really care for me,” you muttered, your voice reaching out to your parents as they pulled away and turned to you,
“Oh, don't be such a whine, could you get us some drinks please, we're parched,” shaking your head, you turned to go to the kitchen, not before turning with your hands folded to your parents.
“Is there anything else you’d like, sir, madam?”
“No, no, that'll do it,” the four of them grinned when they saw you grumble at the comeback. You took a package from your fridge, slit it open, and poured the liquid into the cups after getting the glasses out of the cupboards. As the red liquid splashed inside, you stood there watching. Staring at the liquid, you contemplated your life.
It might seem that your life was flawless, that you had everything you ever desired, that you were living the greatest life the universe had to give, but they were unaware of the secrets that had slipped inside, the curse that had shaped your life and that of your generation.
Your senses are heightened, your pulse is still, your skin is colder than stone, you have the strength of a thousand men, and you have a hunger for blood.
A devil who roamed the world, hiding among the humans and living in the darkness, or, as it is more often called in modern days, a vampire. It has been passed down from the family for thousands of years, all the way back to the time when the great Count ruled.
You were fortunate to have existed in a period where vampires were free to pursue their own lives, evolving to adapt to the environment we live in today rather than being the bloodsucking predators that everyone was terrified of.
Taking the glass to the living room you gave your parents their glasses, having them thank you as you joined in on their conversation.
--
For the following weeks of school, the eight of you have been almost inseparable, already forming your own group in the cafeteria actually calling them your friend you never thought that in the one hundred and sixteen years you’ve been living.
You, as well as Handong and Minji never thought that you would be attached to them since you tried to not get closer to them, not because you hated them but because you could put them in danger.
You were addicted to blood, though it’s been years since you’ve had some, only bringing around sheep’s blood in your bottles. It was the food that you would intake, either it be in the middle of class or during your sports activities, to keep you away from the urge and to give you strength when you needed it.
Because any vampire wouldn’t be able to eat human food unless they wanted to end themselves.
You never wanted to endanger people, it was the last thing that you would want, but it was already too late into the friendship when you realized that one of them was extremely clumsy.
It became apparent when the girl was hanging out more with you, where you would constantly be by her side to react when she would accidentally trip or slip on basically nothing but herself. You were deemed Yoohyeon’s bodyguard by the girls and you weren’t going to deny it.
Because every twenty minutes she seemed to need help and you would be around the corner to help. There are times where it came dangerously close, when Yoohyeon accidentally tripped on the stairs, hitting her knees where she got cut.
Unfortunately for you, the scent of blood was too strong, you could feel your fangs coming out, breathing heavily but thankfully Handong already had her breakfast. She reacted quickly and grabbed your hand, speeding past everybody in the hallway and locked both of you in the janitor’s closet.
Quickly taking your bottle she opened it, waving the scent in your direction as the glowing red eyes faced her. With your instincts taking over you snatched the bottle taking what you needed as you slowly calmed down.
When the glow in your eyes disappeared and your breathing became relaxed you got back into your senses and shook your head, wiping the blood off your lips as you glanced at your friend.
“T-thank you,”
When you got back into the hallway you could see in the end that Yoohyeon was being helped by Minji, the other girls looking at the puppy who only smiled and laughed at her accident.
The older girl sensed you and glanced in your direction, seeing the worried look on your face before she nodded with an assuring smile.
After that day you made sure to always take your food before leaving your apartment, either on the bus or before you entered the school, not wanting to put yourself into that situation again.
“Y/n!” The weight on your back made you move slightly forwards, your hands automatically going behind you to support whoever it was on your back.
Turning your head you’re met with a familiar ball of silver hair, a smile forming on your lips as you carried the girl with you while you walked toward the school, “Isn’t it too early for this Yooh,” you inquired, yet still holding the girl all the way to your class.
“Aren’t you getting tired?” she asked you after a minute and you shook your head, even teasing her as you walked with a slight skip in your steps. Resting her head on your shoulder Yoohyeon looked at you, observing your side profile as you walked.
It’s only been a month since Yoohyeon met you and she didn’t realize it but even just a few weeks of being together you were already so close to her heart than anyone else that she’s known. It might be just simple puppy love because you’ve been super nice to them since the beginning, but she was definitely falling fast.
Closing her eyes, Yoohyeon snuggled her head into the crook of your neck, releasing a sigh when she felt you move your head to let her nuzzle further.
You stifled a laugh, stopping abruptly and letting her down, as the puppy became confused.
“Why did you let me down?” she asked with a pout, making you furrow your brows at the strange feeling you had in your stomach until you replaced it with a smile, “I was getting tired,” You took a couple of steps back, an evil smile creeping over your lips, before adding,
"And you're growing heavier." You watched her mouth drop before turning and running, hearing Yoohyeon call your name, loud steps trailing behind you. Your laugh echoed through the corridors, stopping a little to enable the tall girl to pursue you.
When you ran into your class, the girls looked at you strangely as they saw you pant and look at the door with a grin on your lips. When the taller girl didn't follow, the grin transformed into a pout, but when you walked to the entrance, you peered around and a slight smile appeared on your face as you noticed Yoohyeon seated on the floor.
Yoohyeon dusted her knees before a hand was extended to her, she glanced up and met your gentle eyes, you both paused for a moment until she matched your smile and took your hand in hers. What she did next, though, shocked not only you but also your friends who peered through the frame.
Yoohyeon let herself be swept up by the momentum, enabling herself to get near enough to plant a kiss on your cheek.
“Thanks,” she said as she walked to the classroom, leaving you standing idly, frozen. You put your hand to your cheek, the burning feeling she left on your skin felt like the sun, but it was a pleasant burn.
Since you actually felt warmer, for the first time in years.
--
Having this kind of friendship with Yoohyeon was a great deal of fun and Yoohyeon added a whole different element to your life by enabling you to enjoy the benefits of making new friends and the unexpected hangouts that all of you would have. But you knew that one day, a few moments might go wrong, and everything you have will disappear in an instant.
Which was precisely what occurred the very next day.
You dressed up then went to the kitchen to get your flask, though when you checked the fridge you didn't see your bottle, you were puzzled. Looking around, you saw it on your counter and picked it up, just to discover it was empty.
At first, you didn't care and simply opened the other part of your fridge to grab some more. However, you swore under your breath when you opened it but saw nothing.
You had forgotten that you were supposed to get some yesterday, you stood there for a while and after some consideration, you decided to ask Handong instead. Making the mistake of leaving your apartment, thinking you'd get some food from the other girl.
As you got to school, you were agitated, every move you took was worrying, causing you to look around, everything seemed to be moving faster. You inhaled sharply when you reached your room and saw that Handong wasn't around, so you rushed outside to find Minji's room, but your luck seemed to be against you when the tall puppy met your gaze,
“Y/n!” You forced a smile at the younger girl, darting your gaze around the hall in the hopes of catching a glimpse of Handong.
But, as your friend was nowhere to be found, Yoohyeon pulled you back into the room as you tried to remain calm, doing breathing exercises in your head to calm your nerves, hoping that Handong would soon walk through the door.
When your friend finally arrived, the bell had already rung, and you stood by the side, fists clenched and twitching uncontrollably, as everyone is ready to welcome the teacher.
You couldn't talk with your friend because you weren't sure whether you could contain the growl in your voice, but you made it until lunchtime when your burden eased a little when you stood up to talk to your friend.
Handong looked at you when she noticed you fidgeting a lot, glancing at your form, her eyes filled with worry when she saw how uncomfortable you looked, your arms were shaking and your eye was twitching, “What's wrong?” she questioned, holding you by the shoulders to calm you down,
“Food,” she heard the slight rasp in your voice, her worry growing as she glanced at her bottle, knowing she already used it this morning.
The Chinese woman grabbed your wrist and rushed out of the room, heading for Minji's class, where you caught the purple haired girl as she exited the room, "Unnie!"
When Minji turned her head in the direction of her call, she saw Handong bringing you along with her, and she became concerned when she didn't see the familiar smile on your features.
“What's wrong with Y/n?” she inquired, noting how your hands seemed to shake and your eyes remained closed as you inhaled deeply. You didn't open because you didn't want your eyes to show red, so you waited for one of them to pull you instead.
As a result, when you feel an arm around your wrist, you let it pull you away. More of the weight dissipates when you hear less and less voices around you.
However, you felt dread in your being when you heard a different voice, “Y/n?” When Yoohyeon stood in front of you with a smile, your eyes popped open and your whole body froze. Why was she here? How did she bring you here? What happened to Handong and Minji?
Your senses were sensitive as you felt all the controls wither away, and the fears in your mind began to build along with your breathing. Yoohyeon began to speak about something but you couldn't hear her.
You felt your self control break as all the restraints faded away. Yoohyeon realized you'd been silent for a while before becoming concerned when your body began to shake as you groaned to yourself while squeezing your fists.
“Y—”
“Run,”
She heard you mutter silently, but the noise was muted in her ears, puzzled by your remark still staying as she stood in silence.
“What are you saying, Y/n, do you need anything—”
“Run, Yoohyeon!” You screamed, but it was too late.
As Yoohyeon approached, a curtain of red engulfed your view. When you raised your head, Yoohyeon’s eyes grew big when she saw your eyes, changed into dark red, mouth open as your fangs started to grow. She stepped back, repeatedly calling out for your name but you were too deep into the hunger that you didn’t hear anything, slowly you approached Yoohyeon as she kept backing up until she hit the wall.
She can’t help but be afraid as she saw your form, cowering in the corner before feeling you grip her wrist. She tried to fight you off but you were too strong. It wasn’t a second later when she felt pain shoot up her arm, an ear piercing scream echoing in the sky.
Handong and Minji turned when they heard the scream, turning to each other and cursing when they didn’t see you. As quickly as they could they used their speed to go towards the sounds of the scream, jumping up to the roof where they froze when they saw you, biting Yoohyeon’s arm as the girl yelled in agonizing pain.
Minji responded instantly, grabbing your arm and hurling you against a nearby wall, Yoohyeon's eyes falling as she dozed off. You are still red-eyed, irritated that you'd been disrupted.
You rose to your feet before being struck by a sudden pain in the back of the head, your vision blurring as you collapsed, Handong standing behind you, her face expressionless.
--
When you opened your eyes, you groaned as you felt your head hurting. Sitting up you recognized the surroundings, the red walls, and the white ceiling, you were inside your room. But how?
The last thing that you remembered was going to school, hungry and tired before Handong pulled you away to Minji then--
Your eyes went wide as you stood, rushing outside your room and met Minji’s eyes down the hall. The older one saw you and opened her mouth to speak but she didn’t get the first word out when you bolted from your place, rushing past her, using your mist to get inside the room.
You clutched her cloth-wrapped wrist, immediately sensing the weight of the earth on your shoulders as you saw the younger girl lying on the bed. Walking to the side of the bed you held her wrist that was wrapped with some cloth, suddenly feeling the whole world on your chest as you watched the younger girl lay on the bed.
Your guilt is tearing at you, for the way she lay there helpless was completely your fault. Kneeling beside her, you nuzzled your face against her palm, gripping her hand against her cheek, a sliver of relief rising when you felt her pulse on your cheek.
Minji and Handong hurried in, their eyes softening as they took in the scene in front of them. Slowly walking and sitting alongside you, their palms on your back appeared to intensify the discomfort you were experiencing, making you feel even worse for what you did before you left the room a few minutes later.
Silently closing it as you padded to the living room. Your mind raced at a million miles per hour.
The idea that you had harmed someone close to you, hurt you so much that you feel as though you were dying. Because hurting someone you cared for was something you didn't want to do.
--
You stood in the living room with Minji and Handong for a moment, silent because they were unable to disturb the peace, but it didn't last long as a shrill scream echoed across the flat. You three used your abilities to accelerate.
As you arrived at the foot of the bed where Yoohyeon was tossing and twisting in bed a frown on her lips.
You moved to wake her up, but Minji resisted, shaking her head and approaching the younger girl instead.
When Minji woke her up, you were concerned about how the puppy might respond. Yoohyeon backed up against the bed and started weeping as she bolted up and met your eyes.
Listening to Yoohyeon wail and struggle, you closed your eyes, understanding that the pain you were feeling could never be compared to anything else. You searched for the right opportunity to look her in the eyes.
When you did, your eyes went bright red as you sifted through her memory, deleting the details you didn't want her to remember until she fell back against the bed, her breathing returning to normal. Before you took Minji's place beside the bed, you let out a deep sigh.
You stepped carefully to pick her up, adjusting her position in your arms to make her more comfortable before mist engulfed you, causing your two companions to stare at you sadly before you vanished.
After taking the image from Yoohyeon's head you got to her room and tucked her in, lay her flat on the bed. When you left with a heavy burden, you observed her for a few minutes more before kissing her on the forehead.
When you returned to your flat, you stepped outside of the room you were in and into your own room, looking at the floor because you didn't have the courage to glance at your friends. Knowing that your friends couldn't do much about the turmoil and frustration you were experiencing before you closed the door quietly.
For the next few days, you didn’t leave your room, only laying in your bed, shutting everybody out, and staying in your safe space.
Handong and Minji tried to get inside using their powers but you would only turn around to face the wall ignoring them until they left with a sigh, leaving the food they prepared for you.
It was so bad that your parents even came by to talk to you but like your friends they didn’t get a response either.
Meanwhile, the rest of the girls grew confused at your absence. The following days were spent without you making them seem dull, especially one particular girl who grew sadder each day that she didn’t get to see you.
After you took her memories away, Yoohyeon only remembered the prior events before that, so she believed Handong when she explained that you were sick.
Bringing up the day where you came to school rather quiet and tired. But it’s already been a week and you weren’t healthy yet?
--
The knock on your door didn’t affect you in the slightest, waiting until you saw the glint of the mist in the corner of your eye before closing your eyes. Your mother sighed as she walked toward you on the bed, taking a seat beside you she sifted her hands through your hair until it rested on your back,
“Y/n, it’s been a week, don’t you think it’s time to go outside?” she questioned, not earning a response so she sighed instead, knowing you were listening but you still pretended not to.
“It's not your fault Y/n, what happened was something you couldn't control,” she said with a puff of her breath.
" Every single one of us has done something similar before, some worse than others, it's a normal impulse, dear. Nobody could have prevented it, what matters today is what we do now, why worry about the past if you're no longer living there. You, not the past or the future, decide the present, so please don't hold yourself responsible for something you can't control.”
Before leaving, your mother gave you one more look as the temperature began to drop. You are left in silence to reflect on her words. Sitting up against the bed, you intertwined your fingers together as you pondered the situation, your gaze fixed on your wardrobe, a small flicker surging through your eyes.
--
Observing them from across the road, you saw how they interacted as they walked to the entrance, laughing and conversing.
After a week of silence, you wanted to go outside your space to see how your friends were. As a result, you're perched on a tree branch across the street, seeing what's going on.
When you noticed Yoohyeon's warm smiles, you smiled for the first time in days, capturing a little of their talk through your hearing, "I told you I might try but I didn't guarantee I would succeed,"
As you listened intently until they began their own discussions, a chuckle escaped your mouth, but your eyes and ears were only attracted to one girl as she spoke.
The softness of her voice reignited the strange sensation in your stomach, and when you started to listen, the excitement on your face quickly changed to fear as you heard something down the street.
People shouting could be heard until an engine roared from over the road, the vehicle speeding down the hill. Looking back at the girls, you were grateful that Minji and Handong had been able to notice and drag them back, interrupting their fun and unknowingly leaving one person behind as they continued to chuckle.
The truck was moving closer and closer, Minji and Handong had only just noticed that one girl was absent before turning around and yelling for her.
When Yoohyeon saw the truck, she opened her eyes and her face changed from joy to surprise. Everything moved slowly as you dashed from your hiding spot, appearing in front of Yoohyeon with your mist and covering her with your body.
Closing your eyes and seeing yourself in a different location than the one you're in right now.
Which happened to be your bedroom when you landed on the floor, rolling while cradling and covering Yoohyeon's head before crashing into the side of your bed with a groan.
You stepped back to take a brief glance at the woman, who had shock etched all over her face, darting her eyes all over the room before they found yours.
You immediately gathered her up and sat her on your bed, checking to see if she was all right before turning and disappearing in front of her.
The girls glanced at the truck, eyes streaming with tears as they called for their friend.
When you emerged in front of the girls they were shocked at your presence, and had their own confused expressions on their faces when you held each of their hands and looked at your friends, who were also stunned at your arrival, you gestured your gaze towards the school where a few students were watching before both of them understood.
They turned around, their eyes reddening, and mist engulfed the four of you as you returned to your bedroom, where Yoohyeon seemed startled as you arrived, but they didn't bother to question as they huddled together.
They wrapped their arms around each other and checked to make sure no one was hurt. You stood by the corner and let them have their moment before Minji and Handong arrived in the same manner as you, surprising the girls and making them look at you three with wide eyes.
“We'll explain, please listen to us,” you said when they were about to ask questions. Taking a deep breath, you began describing what they needed to know.
You could erase their memories, but it might just add to the problem, having to keep hiding and avoiding the one event that was bound to happen sooner or later wouldn't help the situation.
Then you told them slowly, describing who you were and where you came from as you paused for a couple breaths to let it settle in. They glanced at the three of you at the conclusion of your explanation, "Y-you won't harm us?"
“We never have and we never would do it on purpose,” Minji replied to Gahyeon, for you, relieved that they didn't scream, yell, or do something unnecessary.
“Could you please give us a moment?” you whispered, your gaze fixed on the puppy, who gave no hint of how she was feeling when she looked at you.
Handong and Minji motioned the three to the entrance, but they were afraid to leave Yoohyeon with you at first, however, after assuring her that she would be fine, you were left alone in the room with the silent puppy.
You knelt down, lowering your head as you took a few steps closer to the girl, halting and offering her the room she needed.
“Is it really true?” You nodded while the other girl didn't believe everything she’s seen, almost wanting to see everything as a huge joke that you were planning but when you suddenly raised your head and met your bright red eyes Yoohyeon gasped when you returned the memories that you had previously removed.
You closed your eyes, a tear running down your cheek as you braced yourself for what was about to happen.
Yoohyeon looked at your form, her jaw clenched as she struggled not to cry, her gaze moving to her own wrist as if she were about to experience the agony again.
She didn't know what to do after hearing anything and getting her memory back, and she couldn't ignore the terror she felt as she recalled your blood red eyes and the sharp fangs you showed her.
“I didn't want to harm you, I was starving, and you were the nearest source. I promise I didn't mean to do that, and I'd do anything to take that away from you, to make you forget about it, but it wouldn't make me the ideal role model. I'd like to show you the true me, the one that doesn't have something to hide. I didn't want our friendship to be like that, where one party hides in the dark for the other to not see,” you said, fearful.
“Was this why you didn't go to school?” she asked in a whisper, reaching your ears, you nodded before Yoohyeon remained silent for a moment until she had the nerve to slowly approach you.
She came up to your form, sitting in front of you and cupping your cheeks, a move that caught you off guard.
Yoohyeon brushed your tears away with the pads of her fingertips, eventually realizing that you had an explanation for every question she posed about the three of you. She noticed how your face matched hers, and the fear and sadness in your eyes caused her to ache
She suddenly pulled you closer and closed the space between you after hearing you mutter silent apologies several times. You didn't know how to explain the way your lips molded together and the sweetness of it when you first kissed them.
It made you feel energetic like you were drinking, which gave you the strength to curl your arms around her waist and unconsciously draw the girl closer.
“I don't care what you did, Y/n, you said it yourself, it was unavoidable,” the girl said a few minutes later, holding her hand on your face and taking deep breaths. You didn't want to harm me, and I hope you still don't,” she said, getting a few nods in return
“Then as long as you don't want to purposefully harm me, I have no issues with who you are, you're always the Y/n we know. It's just bringing a little bit of intrigue and curiosity now that you've told us, the past is the past,”
A tiny grin appeared on your face as you remembered your mother's words, pulling the taller girl into a hug.
As you tucked your head in the crook of her neck, you relished being inside her embrace, and the sudden warm sensation that you never thought you'd experience again returned, spreading across your skin.
Though you're sure there are a number of things that will complicate going down this road you choose, you were sure both of you will figure it out, and for now, Yoohyeon embracing you was enough to relieve your worries and push them aside.
“Together, we'll work this out.”

Promt: raya sees namaari sparring/having fun with her closest friend from fang (which is a girl her age) and gets jealous and competes with said friend for namaari's attention, even though namaari and her friend have no idea what's happening.
With @killjo-qartz permission, I borrowed her OC, Somwang for a cameo in this fic! Hope I got her characterization kind of right & didn't butcher her. (I'll take it down if you don't like it) Can read in ao3 or keep reading down here 🤙🏽: Anger wasn’t new to Raya. She had lived through it within the six years of being alone. Used it as fuel to get through her encounters with bandits and mercenaries alike, to leave them begging for mercy. Used it to push through every obstacle in her way to prove each of these damned binturis wrong in this cruel, broken world. Anger was comfort as misery was company, that flowed like blood in her veins, reminding her that if she couldn’t use hope to live, then at least she had rage to build her up. If she couldn’t feel anything else, then why not let anger take control. However, as comfortable negative emotions could be, its goal was to bring anyone down.
However, as comfortable negative emotions could be, its goal was to bring anyone down. The princess of Heart stood warily outside the training grounds, her patience ran out while waiting for Namaari to finish her princess duties. They hadn’t seen each other for a while. Her own duties at Heart taking over most of her schedule, it was utterly grueling and overwhelming. When her Ba gave her the window of opportunity to take a break, she did not hesitate to flee and visit Fang, since in all honesty, she didn’t have close enough friends in Heart. Sisu was busy with her siblings, and she really didn’t know if she wanted to see the rest of the crew who were probably busy with their own families. Plus, if she was being honest to herself, she just really wanted to see the Fang princess. Her feelings had become clear, the burst of realization came upon her during a council gathering as she was lost in admiring the Fang princess instead of paying attention to the monotonous negotiations and arguments that was going on across the meeting hall. Everything becoming muted as she watched how Namaari seemingly managed to quiet down the Chiefs with her compelling and confident voice, her point somehow settling the previous argument they were having. But it wasn’t exactly that that made the Heart princess realize, no. It was the look right after they had move onto another topic of discussion, Namaari had turned to catch her gaze, her eyes speaking volumes of the actual anxiety it held after her speech. But her features instantly softened as she sent Raya the warmest smile Kumandra could offer, her body relaxing from her stiff posture as the Heart princess returned the smile as equally loving. The Fang princess somehow beamed brighter. Raya knew right there and then that she wanted to have that woman. To jump over the table and kiss that smile on her face, if it would taste like how it felt when she saw it. After that day, her emotions had been all over the place. Her heart had yearned for the other princess’ presence like a thirsty traveler to water. She needed her, she was unsure how healthy that need was. Hence why she stood outside Fang’s training grounds hoping to get some of her frustrations out of the way. However, at her arrival, she found that it only seemed to tremendously increase. She leaned by the entry way, her arms crossed as she eyed the two occupants suspiciously. Their laughs had echoed through the hall, the sound distasteful to her ears, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. She glanced at the taller and even more defined warrior of the two, one she didn’t expect anyone else to have a well physique like the Fang princess, but she stood there towering over Namaari, looking closely as sturdy as a Spine guard, a bright grin on her face as she charged at the princess lifting her up from her torso and throwing her over shoulder. The laugh that had come out of the Fang princess Raya had only heard when they were together. Her heart painfully clenched inside her, her stomach churning unpleasantly and the corner of her lips falling downwards. “Put me down, Somwang!” Namaari complained, but there was an obvious lightness in her voice. The sturdy warrior, Somwang, listened to the order and gently placed the princess down on her feet. Her arm remained around her waist, the furrow on Raya’s brows just deepened, her grip on her bicep tightening. She remained still, quietly scrutinizing every move Somwang made as she made Namaari carelessly laugh and grin freely unlike her personality towards her other guards which usually came off as polite and civil. The Heart princess remembered something her Ba used to tell her before her bedtime at a younger age, when she had used to complain about others having their own mothers, how she would throw bitter angry words at them, words she shouldn’t even know. Or when she overheard about some Tail people purposely attacking their trade ships to steal their produce and goods that was for their people. Or Fang, their worst enemy refusing to share their medicine expertise to
their land causing a great amount of people to die. Or simply when her Ba decided to court some older lady and spent more time with her instead. She asked her Ba why she felt so angry when other people were happy, when other people had it better, or when the people she cared about felt happier even when she wasn’t there. He would say, “Dewdrop. Anger, resentment, and jealousy doesn’t change the heart of others – it only changes yours. It is never wise to seek or wish for another’s misfortune because everyone deserves to be happy. Jealousy is just drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die. So don’t let it take over you, okay?” However, Raya couldn’t help the way her anger was bubbling over her. She shouldn’t be jealous because Namaari wasn’t hers to claim. She wasn’t even an object to claim, and she had every right to be happy with anyone else. She was allowed to have friends, she did have that chance, compared to her who didn’t. But why was it that her heart twisted when she thought she was the only one blessed to see that smile on the Fang princess’ face, or how she thought she was the only one capable to let her relax and laugh the way she did. She didn’t know Namaari let other people touch her further than a handshake.
The lump in her throat grew as she watched them longer. Her jaw clenched and her teeth gritted harshly. She felt the familiar anger flowing through her veins, reminding her what she had used as fuel to get rid of any obstacle out of her way. She felt things too deeply, it was how she had always been, to feel each and every bit of it so she could use it as energy to punch her way out. Her body was buzzing with the need to hurt, her blunt nails digging through her palms with force willing herself to ride the anger out. She took in a sharp breath, her fist clenching with the inhale and unclenching as she exhales. She willed herself to turn around from the sight but just as she was about to walk away, a voice pulled her back. “Raya! You’re here.” Namaari’s voice contained a hint of excitement. The Heart princess immediately swallowed the bile in her throat, letting out a smile that only came naturally because of the other princess’ beaming expression, otherwise she didn’t know how to explain the grimace that would’ve come out instead as her eyes spared a glance at the tall figure beside the warrior. Raya felt the other girl’s penetrating gaze piercing through her, but she kept her attention at Namaari as she slowly approached them. “Hey, dep la” She purposely spoke out enchantingly, or at least she hoped so.
Her flirting skills lacked incredibly so, and she was way too embarrassed to admit that to anyone. Although, Sisu had called her out on it during the times she tried to woo the Fang princess, but it never got through. The way Namaari’s smile grew told her enough it worked. She pushed back the urge to bite her lip and pull her close. “Are you up for a spar?” Namaari offered, her cat like grin challenging her. Raya would usually say yes but her gaze shifted to the sturdy woman beside her, “Actually, I saw you guys sparring earlier. I want to challenge your friend into a spar instead” Somwang narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the Heart princess, sensing the slight tenacity in her words. Her polite smile slightly wavering as their gazes turned heated. “Actually, she’s my—" “I accept your challenge, Princess Raya.” The taller warrior spoke up, cutting off Namaari entirely. Her attention was now too fixated on the Heart princess. The Fang warrior stepped closer, raising a hand out for Raya to shake, “I’m Somwang, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you” The princess sensed the sarcasm in her voice, her lips tugging into a mirthless grin. “Likewise,” Even if I wasn’t told of your existence. She wanted to say but bit her tongue. She raised her own hand to shake the warrior’s, her grip purposely hardening. She was fully aware the other woman was twice her size, but she was taught not to let her enemies physique dull her chances on winning. Her fighting style specifically aimed towards people who were bigger than her. Somwang returned the firm grip, her own shit-eating grin on her face, “Hand-to-hand or would you prefer weapons?” She asked as she scanned her petite body full of judgment. The condescending tone struck a nerve on the Heart princess, her eye twitching as she held her stare looking up the warrior, “Hand-to-hand is perfectlyfine” She exclaimed sarcastically. She might regret this later, but she wasn’t about to let brawn and no brains binturi get to her. Namaari stood there, her face scrunching up at the sudden tension in the room. She was beyond confused but she guessed it was just both of the people’s traits of being competitive. She shrugged it off stepping back to let them do their thing. Raya finally let go of the warrior’s hand, her skin buzzing from the touch. She felt the anger boiling in her veins, her heartbeat increasing rapidly at the rush of adrenaline that surged through her skin. She hadn’t faced a big challenge like this in a long time. She was glad for the further training from Namaari herself and her Ba. She had been doing a lot to improve her hand-to-hand, the meat in her bones also had returned from the proper nutrition she was now receiving compared to the six years alone. Her mind flashing through the match against Namaari in Spine. Her body lacking the nourishment was a huge disadvantage at her strength, she may be good at weaving her sword, but she wasn’t that great with the strength needed in hand combat. She strived to be better from then on.
She stretched her limbs as she watched the Fang warrior step back a few steps, she cracked her knuckles then proceeded to a fighting stance. “You both know the rules” Namaari reminded. The Heart princess seemingly had forgotten that she was there and why exactly she was doing this, the excitement was coursing through her veins. She got into her fight stance nodding, her eyes narrowing mischievously at the sturdy woman in front of her who matched the same fiery in her gaze. As the Fang princess signaled the start, Raya didn’t hesitate to charge first. Her legs had been impatient throughout the day, aching to be moved. She raised her fist feigning a swing, the Fang warrior instinctively moving to block it, but Raya grinned as she used her speed to slide in between the other woman’s spread legs. She quickly scrambled up and used the distraction to kick her in the back forcefully causing her to stumble frontwards on her knees. “Oops. Sorry, khun Bulky.” She taunted jokingly eliciting a slight snicker from the Fang princess on the sidelines. Raya charged once again ready to kick but Somwang rolled on the floor catching her foot on time. She locked her grip on her ankle tripping her in the process then pulled her towards her fist as she swung to punch. The Heart princess blocked it in time, but the impact of the strike caused her to inwardly flinch. She managed to use her other foot to kick the warrior’s face, freeing her ankle as she scooted backwards to stand. Somwang stood along with her charging with a series of well calculated punches that she dodged swiftly. She acknowledged the force behind her jabs, each blow she blocked leaving a pleasantly painful feeling around her arms. But the slow speed in which it came she used to her advantage to slip her own fast blows on her midsection. “You are annoyingly fast” Raya heard the Fang warrior grumble under her breath. A cocky grin made its way to her lips, she was about to spurt out another retort, but the short distraction was enough for her to feel a terribly harsh blow on her cheek that was definitely going to leave a mark. She temporarily saw white spots clouding her vision, but quickly blinked them off as she backflipped away from the next punch. She ran her tongue inside of her cheek, tasting the copper in her mouth. She grinned in delight at the burning sensation, “And you’re annoyingly tough.” The Heart princess charged once again, she used the other warrior’s towering height to her advantage as she stepped on her thighs using it to boost herself up letting the tip of her boot kick her under her chin with much force. She flipped back over quickly before spinning around throwing a roundhouse kick on the side of the warrior’s cheek. The tall woman stumbled to the side clumsily, the impact momentarily pausing her movements. The satisfaction buzzed through Raya’s body, giving her time to get her bearings. Usually, she would have ended the fight, but she was having too much fun. Long gone was the anger that fueled her, instead replaced with a questionable excitement. “Don’t tell me your body is just for show. I didn’t know the princess of Fang associates herself with walking tree trunks” The familiar eccentric laugh she heard behind her caused the hairs in her body to stand, the goosebumps on her skin spreading happily. She watched the sturdy warrior in front of her chuckle lightly as she wiped the dripping blood of her cut lip. She didn’t reply, instead charging at Raya with newly found strength, her punches landing ruthlessly this time, the princess’ blocks slightly wavering. She used her fatigue against her as she pushed her elbows away and jabbed her right on the abdomen. The Heart princess huffed in irritation, her chest heaving after the strong blow on her stomach, stumbling backwards. The warrior kept going, striking and kicking her vigorously as she hastily flipped, spun, and dodged her strikes. How persistent. Raya thought to herself. She inwardly sighed, deciding it was time to end the match. She backflipped away once
more, making sure there’s enough distance to do her final trick she had learned from the princess of Fang herself. “You are one slippery and bouncy binturi, Princess gremlin.” The genuine smirk on Somwang’s lips caught her off guard. Raya narrowed her eyes but let an honest smile tug on her lips, “You’re not so bad yourself, khun giant” She dashed to her, raising her arms to feign more punches. Luckily to her prediction, Somwang steeled herself, ready to block, and possibly to grab her ankle again if she used it to kick. The Heart princess just scoffed, her eyebrows furrowed in concentration. She used her momentum to boost herself up into a jump, tangling her thighs around the Fang warrior’s neck before bringing her pelvis forward, her hands coming up to the floor using all her body strength to flip her tall, heavy figure over. Somwang landed with a loud thud and skidded behind her, her back arching in pain, her chest heaving as she stayed motionless on the floor. Raya walked over the fallen warrior, locking her arms in between both of her feet before crouching down, a victorious smirk on her lips. Somwang blinked blankly at the princess above her, her face flushed at the sudden proximity. “You’re pretty—" The Fang warrior started but was cut off. “—pretty good. You’re not wrong”
The warrior scoffed grinning, “That too but I mean, you are pretty.” Raya raised a brow curiously, taken aback at the sudden compliment, “Maari, I get it now” The warrior called out, twisting her head to face the Fang princess on the sidelines. Namaari’s eyes widened at what the other girl was insinuating but before she could say something, the Heart princess met her gaze, the words refused to leave her mouth then. Raya just slyly smiled before standing up and offering a hand to the Fang warrior under her. She gladly took it dusting herself off as she stretched her now pained limbs. “You are no joke, Princess.” Somwang commended, this time her look held no tenacious intent. Raya suddenly felt guilty for the previous ill thoughts she had against the warrior. She shrugged shyly, an apologetic look crossing her face, “Sorry for beating you up.” The sturdy woman raised a hand to wave her off, “No lasting damage. Plus, I think that was probably a perfect way to go.” The corner of her lips forming a smirk as she winked at the Heart princess. Raya blinked in surprise, her cheeks slightly coloring pink. Namaari, who finally joined them, grimaced at the comment, playfully shoving Somwang away, “Okay, match over” The Fang princess stepped closer to Raya reaching for now bruised hands and arms, “I’m sorry about my cousin. We should probably get your bruises treated” She spoke softly. The Heart princess flushed as she felt Namaari’s hands reach up to her cheek where Somwang had punched her forcefully, her thumb caressing the tender spot. She felt her heart doing somersaults as she instinctively leaned to the touch. She let out a tired sigh until the other princess’ words just processed in her brain. “Wait, she’s your cousin?” She blurted out before she could even think about it. Namaari quirked an eyebrow but nodded, her hand falling back down. Raya instantly missed the feeling. Somwang popped up from behind the Fang princess, a goofy grin on her face as she wrapped an arm around Namaari’s neck pulling her into a deadlock and ruffling the top of her neatly combed hair. “Yep. This kid is my cousin. I can’t believe we’re related sometimes because of how uptight she is.” The tall warrior stated as she casually smiles back at Raya while not even struggling at Namaari’s attempt to pull free from her grip. The Heart princess gaped in bewilderment. She felt the dread and guilt swimming through her body as she recalled her foolish actions for even thinking poorly about the other woman in the first place. She let out a huff of relief and shame, running a hand over her face. The Fang princess managed to jab her cousin hard enough in the stomach causing her to let go, she pushed her away fixing her shirt and adjusting her hair back in place as properly as she could. She turned to Raya, her forehead creased in concern, carefully grabbing her hand to gain her attention, “I was going to tell you, but Somwang here cut me off earlier and you guys were too focused on the spar to listen.” She tried to explain. Raya felt her squeeze her hand to emphasize, she offered back an understanding look. Somwang frowned wrapping her arms around her stomach, “That hurt you know. Your girlfriend already beat me up pretty damn well. Also, I can never turn down a challenge. She was more of a challenge then you are when we spar” She purposely jested, her vexing grin causing Namaari to twist her head and scowl at her, heat rushing to her cheeks. Before the Fang princess could comment and correct her, she felt Raya interlock their fingers, “She’s right, dep la. You’re losing your touch. I think that spar was the most fun I had in a while.” The Heart princess ignored the way her heart fluttered at the word girlfriend, a hopeful part of her mind celebrating the possibility that other people saw them that way even if it weren’t true. Namaari threw a betrayed look at her, she didn’t know how to feel about both of her favorite people ganging up on her. The sturdy warrior forcefully clapped Raya’s back causing her to stumble a
little, the blow leaving a stinging feeling behind her, “I think I don’t mind you as much now. You’re fun, Princess” Somwang complimented, cheerfully grinning. “I don’t know what Namaari told you about me, but I can assure you, they’re only partly true.” Somwang lets out a good-natured belly laugh, the Fang princess grimacing as she glanced between the two, “I can beat you both up if I wanted to” It was a weak retort, they all knew it, but she wasn’t about to let them team up. “You wouldn’t stand a chance, Náwng.”
The Fang princess simply rolled her eyes. She gripped back Raya’s hand tightly, before turning away and dragging her out, leaving Somwang’s protests behind them in the air. The Heart princess flushed at the warmth that spread through her body at the touch, the doubt in her mind slowly fading at the possibility of Namaari returning her feelings. Maybe she was wrong, energy wasted on jealousy. The Fang princess didn’t hold anyone else’s hand the way she held hers. A part of her couldn’t help but be thrilled at that revelation. They finally slowed down once they were far enough from the training grounds, Namaari’s hold on her hand still solid. She smiled quietly to herself, enjoying the comfortable silence as they strolled past the garden. “Sorry if I took too long. I know I said I’ll meet up with you, but I got pulled back by Somwang forcing me to spar with her for a while.” Namaari bashfully explained. Raya shrugged, “That’s okay. I happen to stumble by you anyway.” “You sure you weren’t just looking for me, dep la?” The Heart princess playfully shoved her, “You wish. I was itching for a spar. Good thing you guys were already there.” Namaari hummed, a knowing smirk on her lips, “Speaking of, since when did you learn to copy my move?” She asked recalling the last trick Raya had pulled against Somwang.
She was surprised she even managed to flip the sturdy half Spine woman over. Her strength left her wondering what else she could do with it, Somwang’s comment about it being the perfect way to go echoing in her head. “Why? Want me to try it out on you?” Raya raised a teasing brow twisting her head to look at the Fang princess who was fighting back the blush on her cheeks. She knew she failed when the other princess’ smirk just widened. Namaari cleared her throat an idea popping in her head, “I mean it’s only fair. I wouldn’t mind you returning the favor” She managed to quip back almost hesitating at the stimulating thought. However, she grinned victoriously at the widening eyes of the princess. The highly suggestive tone in her voice caused Raya’s heart rate to spike up, sinful actions flashing through her head. She licked her lips unconsciously, her teeth grazing the bottom as she imagined the feeling of her face between – Raya caught herself immediately, shaking away her thoughts as she swallowed to dampen her drying throat. She turned away from the Fang princess, her gaze focused on path in front of them but her mind reeling back to the way her hands felt under her fingers and how it would feel to explore further parts of her body like how she explored the whole of Kumandra.
She really needed to find a way to confess first, asap. -x- Oops, that's a long one. Sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyway. Hope you liked it, anon!

Son of Morpheus | Demigod!Lee Jeno
Tumblr media
Parent Deity: Morpheus (God of Dreams and Human Dreamers)
Allegiance: Hypnos
This boy loves to sleep
Like LOVES to sleep
He could be found sleeping anywhere
High key his mom found him sleeping on the kitchen floor one day
And ever since he was little
He was able to remember his dreams with intense detail
His family just thought it was a 4 year old’s imagination running wild
Until the night terrors started
He was tormented with them
They started around the time he was 7
They still happen today, just much less in frequency
But when he was younger
They were really bad
Like he would wake up screaming and crying
And it took ages for him to calm down
It got to the point that his mom was considering taking him to a child psychiatrist
He found a way to calm himself though
He began drawing out scenes from his dreams
No matter what they are
Light and airy or nightmarish
It helped him cope in a way
Life continued on
And he started opening up to his mom about his dreams
He talked about a young man with tan skin and dark curly hair
And wings of a white warblers
He told stories of epic battles
Of courtrooms filled with music and sleeping bodies
Of sleepless nights talking with a man sitting on the moon
Jeno couldn’t tell if he was scared of the man or not
As he entered middle school
He started being able to interpret his dreams
Other’s dreams too
He kept it a secret though
It terrified him
He learned to accept this too
As he did everything else
But then he learned he could predict others dreams
And it scared the shit out of him
He told his best friend, Jaemin first
Jaemin just gave him this knowing look and took him to his mom
His mom sat him down
And for the first time in his 14 years of life
His mother pulled out a photo of his father
And he was shocked
It was the curly haired man that he saw every night in his dreams
Sitting there next to his mother in a cafe in Greece
He was fucking confused
Like really fucking confused
Until it clicked
That was his dad
His dad had wings of a garbler
HIS DAD HAS WINGS OF A GARBLER
Am I going to grow wings too!?!?!?!?!?!?
No, you idiot. Jaemin
I’m not?
No, you have to earn them. Also Jaemin
So that night he was lying in bed
Questioning whether or not he wanted to fall asleep
Knowing he would have to confront his father there
But a cloud with a dreamcatcher with dew drops hanging from the strings shrouded with a calming silver light appeared above his head
And he fell asleep instantaneously
His father was sitting there
Talking with the man who embodied the moon
The man that he didn’t recognize made a comment and vanished after he caught sight of him
His father turned around. It was like he hadn’t aged a day since the photo see saw
Do you know who I am?
Uhhhhh. A dude with white warbler wings??? That haunts my dreams every night. Who also happens to be my father?
He didn’t mean to sound as sarcastic as it came out
Yes, that is all true, though I don’t ‘haunt’ you. But, do you know who I am?
No
He sat him down in the dark pavilion, explaining about the gods and goddess, the war and everything in between, even how he was born.
Do I like…. Have half-siblings??
No, but Jaemin is your cousin. His father smiled
After that, the dream faded off and he was peaceful for the rest of the night
Waking up, Jaemin was passed out on the couch in the living room
Picking up the nearest thing (a remote) he threw it at the boy on the couch, causing him to wake up
WHY IN OLYMPUS DID YOU NEVER TELL ME WE ARE TECHNICALLY COUSINS????
Not my place?
Anyways start packing, Mom said I can take you to camp with me this year :)
Yes, Jaemin calls Jeno’s mom his mom
And so he went to camp with Jaemin that year
It was nothing like what Jaemin described
It was WAY cooler
On the first day people were milling around everywhere
Jaemin led him over to a couple older kids with badges around their necks
Hey Jaemin!
Jaemin introduced them as Johnny and Ten, both sons of wind gods, both camp leaders who were helping all of the new kids get around and find their cabins
They’ll take care of you, I have to go find her.
Jaemin basically dumped Jeno on their shoulders so he could go find his girlfriend smh
Jaemin told us you were Morpheus’ kid, we were thinking about putting you in the Crios cabin? Does that sound okay? We would put you with Jaemin but he said you should get to know other campers your first year here. The shorter one spoke up
The taller one, Jaemin introduced him as Johnny, pulled out a gold coin, flicking it into the air while muttering something, and a wavering rainbow appeared in front of them
Put me through to Taeil and soon the rainbow was showing an older boy as well with a red undercut over some astrology papers
The rainbow??? Was facetime???
Ten obviously saw the shock on poor Jeno’s face, carefully explaining what an Iris message was and how to do it
After that he settled into demigod life pretty quickly
Jaemin introduced him to all of his friends, the Dream team, even some older campers who he was close with
He even liked the Crios cabin so much that he decided to stay there past the first year. The Morpheus cabin was lonely and Jaemin always had his girlfriend over trying to get her to sleep
The night terrors slowly subsided and soon his dreams were more peaceful than anything else
But one time he dreamt about a girl, right around his age, running into camp, a dark aura surrounding her but obvious scared
It wasn’t the dark aura that worried him, Kun and Jaehyun both had a dark aura, both sons of gods related to death
But her aura was different, it was mixed with madness, it was close to driving her insane
Even though it was only a dream, he couldn’t shake it off
He asked everyone that he knew, especially Jaemin, he found out a while ago that he was the one who founded the camp, what the aura could be and no one knew
He also started watching the border of camp everyday
Not stalking it or anything, just glancing over whenever he had a chance
A couple weeks past and Jeno was convinced that it was just a really weird dream
But then you actually showed up
Same way that it happened in the dream
You ran into the borders of camp like you were out of your mind, you were paranoid, no one could even touch you, not even Sicheng
When Jeno had heard what happened, he ran down to the pavilion
There you were, on the ground, covering your ears, eyes wide open, terrified to shut them, and shaking in fear
Once he had pushed his way through the crowd, he placed his hand over your eyes and shortly, you had fallen asleep
After that, Sicheng had moved you to the infirmary with Jeno’s and Johnny’s help
He found that you were severely dehydrated, and even he couldn’t describe the aura around you. It wasn’t that of Kun or Jaehyun’s but it was definitely similar
You were were in and out of consciousness for about 3 days and when everything finally settled down, a raven with a snake in its mouth appeared over your head
It was symbols that no one had seen or heard of, not even Jaemin or Taeyong
The boys spent the next couple of days researching who the symbols could belong to, and eventually they found it: Melinoe
Goddess of ghosts and spiritual passage who brought mortals nightmares that drove them insane
That would explain the way you were when you first came into camp
After that, Jeno stayed by your side every step of your recovery
He also helped you to manage the nightmares and control your powers
He had been there before, dreams were a tricky subject and nightmares made it even more complicated
But slowly you got the hang of it
And slowly Jeno started to have a crush on you, and slowly it turned into more
When he finally asked you out, you were ecstatic, it would be a lie to say that you hadn’t developed feelings for Jeno since coming to camp
And when camp closed for the summer- except for the few that stayed, he found out that you were attending the same university
He had been studying astrology while you were in the art department, soon, everyone in campus and camp knew who the two of you were
Y’all were inseparable
The Dreamies even accepted you into their group
(Jisung is your favorite don’t tell Jeno)
You eventually ended up moving in with Jaehyun
He had become like your older brother at camp
When Jeno wasn’t able to help you learn about your powers, Jaehyun was there to help
He even got his mom to visit personally and talk to you about your own mom and what he role was, and most importantly, that she wasn’t a bad person
Jaehyun knew the pain that you dealt with having a parent being a literal embodiment of death
And soon enough, it was even like Jeno had moved in with Jaehyun with how much he was at the apartment
Jaehyun was okay with it as long as he didn’t wake up in the middle of the night :)
