Oscar: (Knocks on door, Opens) Hi.

Sun/Neptune: Hey~!

Oscar: I have to go to Atlas.

Jaune: What?!

Sun: The kingdom?!

Oscar: No, there's this book with the map of the world in it. Yes, the kingdom! (Sighs) Is Mercury here?

Sun: Sun... Neptune... Nope, just us and Jaune.

Oscar: So he's out with Emerald, huh?

Neptune: Oh no! How could she do that when she's never shown any interest in you?!

Oscar: ...

Sun: FOR! GET! A! BOUT! HER!

Jaune: I hate to say it, but they're right, man. Eventually you gotta learn to let go and move on with your life. Go to Atlas, do your thing, and if you get the chance, punch Ozpin for me.

Neptune: I mean, don't punch yourself, obviously.

Sun: Unless he can feel it, too.

Oscar: Right, I... I don't know... Can you just give this to her? It's for her birthday.

Jaune: Sure thing, man.

Sun: And hey, we're just looking out for you. I might have a couple of beers in me, but... I love you, man. (Hugs)

Neptune: I'm still on my first, so I just think you're nice.

Jaune: (Chuckles)

Emerald: Eh, sure. I wouldn't mind getting my presents before food.

Weiss: In that case, open mine first!

Ruby: No, mine!

Emerald: If it gets you two to stop, then I'll take them at the same time.

Ruby/Weiss: (Hand over lien)

Emerald: ...Oh, wow. I don't know who's present I like more. If only there was a way to tell how much their both worth in lien. (Group laughs)

Jaune: Alright, my turn! (Hands over gift)

Emerald: It's... (Opens gift) ...a green pen. Uh, thanks. (Hands back)

Jaune: (Slumps)

Nora: (Pats his back) Well, if she doesn't want it, can I have it? Anyway, my turn! (Hands gift)

Emerald: (Opens gift) "Pumpkin Pete Goes Home".

Nora: That book got me through some rough times.

Ren: It's true. It did.

Mercury: What kinda little kid are you?

Jaune: The kind who can break your legs. And yeah, even yours.

Emerald: Speaking of, where's your present?

Mercury: I'm right here, obviously!

Emerald: ...Can I get a receipt? (Group laughs) Wait, who's gift is that?

Neptune: Oh, that's from Oscar!

Emerald: Really? Didn't think he could afford a gift, since he just left on a last-minute trip. (Opens gift, Gasps) Oh... Oh my god...

Ruby: What is it?

Emerald: It's... It's a brooch. It's just like the one my mother had. I... I didn't think he would remember.

Mercury: Remember what?

Emerald: Couple months ago we were walking around Shade and we passed this jewelry shop and there was a brooch in there just like my mom had when I was a kid. I... I can't believe he remembered!

Jaune: Well, he does have a mental notebook to help him remember.

Nora: It looks so pretty~!

Weiss: And expensive. How did he afford this?

Jaune: Oh, you know how Oscar is. I mean, remember that time he and Ruby were dating, and when he fell in love with her, he bought her that scythe keychain?

Emerald: ...When he what?

Jaune: (All eyes on him, Gulps) Uh... S... Scythe keychain?

Emerald: No, no, no. What did you say about him loving me?

Jaune: Ah... Ammah guh...

Emerald: Oh... Oh my god...

Jaune: (Turns away) No, no, no, no, no, no...

Sun: Hey, uh, I don't know if you know this, but turning around doesn't undo screw-ups. Believe me, I tried.

Emerald: I... I can't believe Oscar loves me.

Nora: This is huge!

Jaune: No, no, it's not! It's small! It's tiny! It's wee!

Nora: No way, this is such a game-changer! I don't think anyone here is going to be the same after hearing that!

Jaune: Nora, I love you, but do you have a mute button?

Ren: She doesn't.

Ruby: This is so great! I mean, I dated him a while ago, so I can tell you he's a great guy!

Weiss: Did you have any idea?

Emerald: No! None! I mean, after you and your boyfriend started going out, he mentioned something about going out, but he didn't try anything after that. (Grabs Neptune) Hey! Tell me! Does he still want to go out with me?!

Neptune: Uh, well, considering how he's desperately in love with you, I don't think he'd say no to a cup of coffee sometime.

Emerald: I... I need to talk to him!

Jaune: You can't!

Neptune: He's in Atlas!

Sun: The kingdom!

Weiss: He's meeting with Whitley about some new Dust policies, and he needs Ozpin for council. I can call him right now.

Neptune: W-What about the towers? Aren't they down?

Ruby: Whitley's bullhead hasn't left yet. We can still call him right now!

Jaune: No, you can't!

Emerald: Why not?!

Mercury: Because he's probably not in love with you anymore.

Emerald: What do you mean?

Mercury: Because these idiots told him to get over you.

Emerald: ...

Jaune: Oh no...

Sun: Door?

Neptune: DOOR!

Sun: (Opens door, Runs into Blake clone)

Blake: Where do you think you're going?

Jaune: Oh no- Ack!

Nora: (Holding him up) WHERE ARE YOU GOING, MY LOVE~?!

Neptune: Help me, Mercury!

Mercury: I just sold you guys out. What makes you think I'll get between you and all of them? (Points to bloodthirsty RWBY)

Neptune: ...Yeah, that's fair.

Emerald: Hey, Princess. Can you take me to them? I... I need to talk to Oscar. Face-to-face.

Weiss: For the sake of love, I'll ignore the princess remark and help you. (Leaves with Emerald)

Neptune: EMERALD, WAIT! I LOVE YOU! DEAL WITH ME FIRST!

Emerald City Siblings Headcannons

Welcome back to the Hell and Paradise that is my Headcannons.

Even though Emerald only knew Oscar for the shortest time, she assumes that Oscar is just one of her own. A brother in arms types.

Oscar tends to act as more of the responsible sibling, but as they spent more time together, he ended up getting into more trouble. Even creating his own safe place, and than later showing it to Emerald, so she could use it to. Sibling goals.

At the beginning a lot of people didn't take Oscar seriously, and Emerald ended up being more scary than she intended. Though Oscar did the same when people weren't willing to trust her.

Even though most of the Beacon students made it to Vacuo a lot of them seeing Oscar and Emerald together just assumed they were related. Even going as far as to refer to them as Emerald's little brother vice a versa with Oscar's older/big sister.

If Oscar is the little prince, than that means Emerald is the fox that he tames.

When Jaune returns with team RWBY, he goes back to acting Oscar's older brother figure, and Emerald and him would end up in constant competitions later over his attention. Oscar never notices of course.

Emerald and Oscar both have scars that they want to hide, and both spend some time talking about those experiences.

They both start using hand motions and just glances to get through to each other, and both team JNR + RWBY don't know what to make of it.

Emerald is the wingwoman who helps Oscar get a date with Ruby in turn, the farmboy helps her set up a few dates with Mercury.

They both sometimes joke about who has the best relationship. Usually its Emerald due to knowing Mercury longer, all things considered.

Oscar's aunt ends up offering to make Emerald part of her family, and Emerald ends up crying while accepting the offer.

That's all I could think of with this strange friendship. Its great to work with these characters.

Also for the fact that writing these two turned out to be a lot of fun.

Figured I'd post my favorite characters of colors since this Black History month so here are mine from the show rwby

And say what you like I know a lot of people may or may not think of him that way but I see Oscar is black / mixed

When you look at the main cast unless you know that some of them are Asian you just see what looks like white characters even on the secondary team they all just seem like white passing characters even ran who even though you can tell he's Asian coded same with blake

Oscar Maria and emerald if you count them as a part of the main cast like I do or the only few characters are of a dark skin tone

Even looking back at the earlier volumes of Ruby like volumes 1-3 one of the few black characters you have that people mainly recognize our emerald there are a few others that get introduced but they're such minor characters they're not a lot of people even mention them

I'm hoping we get a few more characters whenever we get volume 10 and I do hope that they are black

I also kind of hope the writers get better at writing characters of color because every time they write a character a color in this show they just get killed off or have to be redeemed or they're making bad decisions for no reason and yeah like even with the aesops they reviewed as the enemy so the latter half of volume 7 and even all through Volume 8

But there's something about the Aesop's characters and how they were portrayed I didn't like that well besides maybe marrow he seemed the most relatable and it's not just because we actually spent more time with him on screen it's just something about how the others and even other black characters have kind of been written in the show that just rubs me the wrong way as a black person I've seen a few others talk about this like I said I just hope we get some more black characters and later volumes if we get them and that they're written a bit better

Im thinking on Ruby and Emerald having a small rivalry because in the months/year RWBYJ where in the Ever After Emerald became Oscar's partner, and she feels like its her duty to keep him safe. Meanwhile Ruby, with the death Oscar Ilussion still fresh on her mind, she feels the need to protect him. And also the fact that on Ruby's timeline, Emerald defected like yesterday and she doesnt know if she can trust her, even less with Oscar safety on the line.

You could tell Oscar is pretty done with both of them.

Also they having to team up to save Oscar when he eventually gets himself in trouble/captured/goes missing (bcs of course he would).

Weiss: Hello- Oh... It's you two.

Emerald: Wow. Aren't you cheery?

Oscar: Hey, Weiss! Uh, everything okay?

Weiss: It's fine, it's fine. Honestly, I'm a little relieved. You're the first non-couple I've seen all night.

Emerald: Really?

Oscar: Really...

Weiss: Yes, and it's a little grating on my nerves to have so many couples over with no other single people to talk to. Everyone is just finishing each other's sentences and rubbing and kissing oh so wholesomely~!

Weiss: It almost makes me want to puke.

Emerald: And a bah humbug to you, too.

Weiss: Well, thankfully you're here, so I don't have to worry about you two sucking face all night.

Oscar: Yeah...

Weiss: Anyways, come on in. There should be plenty of food left unless-

Ren: Even though we never did anything.

Yang: Which is still amazing because Ren is such a-

Jaune: I think it would be better for everyone here to practice a little more self-control.

Ruby: And what the heck is that supposed to mean?

Blake: I have nothing against the effort, but I just feel there wasn't enough effort put into the relationship for the ship to mean anything.

Ruby: What do you meeeean?! There was so much effort put in! The setups, the music, the kiss!

Blake: Felt forced, didn't fit the scene, and was weirdly good for two characters in a realistic teen drama to be kissing so well together, despite neither having ANY prior relationships before each other.

Whitley: ...I thought the story was okay.

Sun: Yeah, and the music was sick! I still have that rock song playing on my scroll all the time.

Ruby: See! Sun agrees with me!

Sun: Huh?

Blake: Whitley was right. The story was only okay.

Whitley: What? Nonono, I said-

Weiss: So then I told her, "Well, this was your fault for trusting me in the first place!"

Oscar: Hahaha!

Emerald: Heh. Sounds like you guys had fun at Beacon.

Weiss: We did, though you would know, since you were there, too.

Emerald: Yup. Plotting and scheming with Cinder.

Weiss: How did you three pass for students?

Emerald: Apparently, Haven doesn't look too deep when it comes to "late age" students, which probably came from when Spiders would lend out their lackeys as students as a sort of "student exchange" between real students and gangsters.

Weiss: Really?

Oscar: Yup. It's part of why I didn't go to any sort of huntsman schooling. Well, that and my aunt needed my help with the farm.

Ozpin: (Thinking) It's sad to see how far Leo fell, after fighting so hard to get where he did.

Weiss: Oh, excuse me. There's someone at the door.

Emerald: ...What did you guys grow out there?

Oscar: Oh, uh, carrots, turnips, beets. Y'know, the usual.

Emerald: Y'know, I can't say I've ever had beets before.

Oscar: You haven't? They're really good!

Emerald: Yeah? All I see are those red blobs in cans.

Oscar: Well, yeah, but those are actually really good. Especially when you slice them up and put them in your salad.

Emerald: Guess I'll have to try out this recipe of yours then.

Oscar: Really?! Er, I mean... Cool. Cool.

Emerald: Heh heh...

Ozpin: (Sighs)

Weiss: ...Is there a reason you're sitting here alone?

Ilia: Ack! I, uh... I'm just, y'know, relaxing, winding down-

Weiss: Staring at Blake?

Ilia: Staring at Bla- No! Of course not! I would never do that!

Weiss: Really? Because from where I'm sitting, there is an entire room of people all conversing, both couples and single people alike, and yet the only thing you've said tonight beyond "Hello" is a sigh. Just because you're single does not excuse your isolation from everyone else here.

Ilia: Oh, what do you know? You've always had someone to talk to! But some of us only had one person, and that one person then chose to leave us behind!

Weiss: It's called growing up. It's a new thing, I know, but it works wonders, I hear.

Ilia: Oh, screw you!

Weiss: ...Wait. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have been so hostile with you. I've... I know what you mean by being left behind. Everyone at this party is someone I got close to or was the reason they left. It's not easy being single in a party of couples, but... But the least we can do when we're single is to be happily single. So... What say we be happily single... together. Just for tonight.

Ilia: ...Okay.

Emerald: Alright, so the vampire's gravestone is—

Oscar: Cenotaph.

Emerald: What?

Oscar: It's only a gravestone if it marks the location of a body. A monument honouring someone whose body isn't present is a cenotaph.

Emerald: I'm… not sure that's how it works if the body gets up and walks away on its own.

Oscar: There's a precedent for gravestones being reclassified as cenotaphs if the body is later removed and reinterred elsewhere. There's no rule that says the body itself can't do the removing.

Emerald: Okay, but the body is very much coming back. That's kind of what we're here to accomplish.

Oscar: So it's a temporary cenotaph.

Emerald: And naturally our greatest concern here is avoiding semantic ambiguity.

Oscar: Semantic ambiguity is how vampires get you.

Emerald: Like the Fairies? Or Demons?

Oscar: the Fae and the Demonic/Devilish follow the Letter of their Deals. Vampires are not as beholden to the definition of the words in their contracts.

Behold, the updated team OMEN lineup! (click for better quality)

I ended up revamping the designs pretty much completely because, if I'm being honest, I feel like the originals were too boring, especially for the world of RWBY, not to mention my character design skills have improved a lot since I first designed them.

I'm super happy with how all of these have turned out, and I think they're finally starting to look like a semi-cohesive unit (as much as these dysfunctional dorks can anyways)

individual designs/design notes under the cut!

Oscar's obviously undergone the most change in this AU, so it makes sense for his outfit to be the most radically different. However, I still wanted you to be able to tell this was still Oscar, if that makes any sense. As such, I wanted to incorporate some elements of his other outfits into this one.

I leaned WAY more into the steampunky vibes with this design, and I ended up using the shade of red that's on his Atlas jacket.

Since he tends to associate green with Ozpin (he barely had any green on his v4 design, and only started wearing it after he started coming to terms with the merge) I wanted to incorporate the autumn colors of his v4 design in. Lots of dark reds and browns, though with a much more muted color palate than before.

He's still got that pop of green w/ the patch on his leg tho

The goggles are to hide when the grimm starts to show in his eyes.

The gear pin is actually a gear he took from Long Memory as a memento!

The bag on the back of his belt is for carrying Dust rounds.

He tends to have most of his body covered, as to hide the scars he got from the grimm and his time with Salem

The whole team have their emblems slashed for symbolic reasons (and also b/c merc thought it looked cool.) his is on the back of his jacket!

Mercury is arguably the character who's design went through the biggest changes over the years. Truth be told, I had a lot of trouble designing him when I first started, considering his Vale outfit was so bland and didn't give me much to work off of. Thankfully, V8 picked up the slack and gave me a better idea of what to go for.

I designed him to invoke a sort of beat up vigilante kind of feel - someone who's roughing it most of the time, and doesn't really have the time to care about appearances.

His coat is SUPER torn up due to his fighting style, being incredibly close quarters. The rips on the bottom are unintentional, but I imagine that when they got to Vacuo, he just cut the sleeves off it himself.

I wanted to turn the saturation of his colors WAY UP, not only because it looks more interesting this way, but because it's also indicative of the headspace he's in by the time he gets this outfit, which is to say, a lot brighter.

I also wanted to make his face a LITTLE bit more distinct, so I gave him an eyebrow slit and a mole on his cheek, along with a lot of scars from all the fighting he’s done over the years. I imagine Neo helped him with the eyebrow.

The jacket actually has ice Dust woven on the inside, to keep him cool. Nevertheless, he loves to fling it off dramatically during battle, Edward Elric style.

Emerald gifted him the dog tag - it was one of the first pieces of jewelry she ever made.

His emblem is on the back of his coat - he wanted it to stand out from everyone else's, so he slashed it twice.

And on the other hand, Emerald's design is probably the one that's changed the least. I kinda struck gold with the mark 2 outfit, so I didn’t really feel the need to deviate all that much.

I wanted her design to be one that gives the impression of mobility - light, simple enough, with lots of arm and leg room to maneuver around (and yes I know the heels aren't practical for that, let me have this)

I changed the black color to have a hood on her top instead because I thought it fit the character better. Em is a thief after all - hoods are good for stealth.

The biggest change is, of course, the undercut. Out of everyone in the group, Emerald's the most accustomed to the heat, so she'd probably cut it a bit to keep her head a bit cooler.

All the bracelets and earings she's wearing are handmade, probably out of scrap metal she’s found while on the streets. I imagine that Emerald is pretty crafty, and likes making stuff like this in her spare time.

The red accents in her previous outfits were there to match with Cinder (who, noticeably never had any green accents in return) As such, this design lacks any red accents, as she's trying to move on from that toxic relationship.

Her pockets are actually pretty deep, and hold things like bandages and emergency mini smoke grenades.

Her emblem is also on the back of her jacket, matching Oscar's.

And finally, best girl Neo. TBH, I VASTLY prefer her Vale design to her Atlas ones (it's my fave in the whole show) so I drew more from that than the other one.

I was kinda trying to go for a magician's assistant vibe with this outfit, with the bowtie and gloves and all that.

Neo's not very experienced with the heat, being Atlesian, so she didn't really dress properly. As such, she ended up putting her hair in a ponytail.

A fun idea I got right away were slits in her sleeves and pants, but then I one-upped myself, and thought; what if they were lace?

The original design had way too much black and not enough brown, so I tried to incorporate more of that into this design, since, y'know - Neapolitan ice cream and all that.

She's changed the band of her hat to be a more reddish shade, in remembrance of Torchwick, and she's also swapped out the feather to match the rest of her outfit.

And yes, she swapped the sides of her hair each color was on to see if anyone would notice. (No one has said anything yet.)

Her emblem is a pin on the side of her hat. Neo didn't strike me as the type of character to wear an emblem, but I still wanted to incorporate it, so I figured something subtle like a pin would work.
