Flat color commission for Soundwave3591! Another piece dedicated to RWBY MBK!AU. Amber and her little sister Sherry were enjoying an evening together at the Valewood family house when somebody upstairs got their attention... Figured I'd post my favorite characters of colors since this Black History month so here are mine from the show rwby

And say what you like I know a lot of people may or may not think of him that way but I see Oscar is black / mixed

When you look at the main cast unless you know that some of them are Asian you just see what looks like white characters even on the secondary team they all just seem like white passing characters even ran who even though you can tell he's Asian coded same with blake

Oscar Maria and emerald if you count them as a part of the main cast like I do or the only few characters are of a dark skin tone

Even looking back at the earlier volumes of Ruby like volumes 1-3 one of the few black characters you have that people mainly recognize our emerald there are a few others that get introduced but they're such minor characters they're not a lot of people even mention them

I'm hoping we get a few more characters whenever we get volume 10 and I do hope that they are black

I also kind of hope the writers get better at writing characters of color because every time they write a character a color in this show they just get killed off or have to be redeemed or they're making bad decisions for no reason and yeah like even with the aesops they reviewed as the enemy so the latter half of volume 7 and even all through Volume 8

But there's something about the Aesop's characters and how they were portrayed I didn't like that well besides maybe marrow he seemed the most relatable and it's not just because we actually spent more time with him on screen it's just something about how the others and even other black characters have kind of been written in the show that just rubs me the wrong way as a black person I've seen a few others talk about this like I said I just hope we get some more black characters and later volumes if we get them and that they're written a bit better

RWBY Amber’s Allusion

Amber was introduced in Volume 3 as the first named Maiden of the series. She is hunted by Cinder, who eventually kills her and takes her power. Amber’s time in the sun was short but sweet, as her introduction indirectly changed the course of the entire show. Ever since then, I have been doing heavy research and thinking to find out what her allusion is and how it relates to the overall RWBY narrative, and I think I have reached a possible conclusion.

Amber is Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty.

Sleeping Beauty was cursed by Maleficent the Witch to prick her finger on the spindle of a sewing wheel and fall to an eternal slumber. The dead giveaway for Amber’s allusion is that she is literally comatose when we meet her, or in hyper sleep.

Now as for the spindle part: a sewing wheel is a decided used for weaving fibers together to make cloth (for blankets, sheets, clothes, etc.). And there is one character that is known for weaving clothes in the show. Coincidentally, it’s the one who killed her.

Cinder Fall takes the place of Maleficent in Amber’s story. This shot above basically sets that up. Cinder curses Amber by pricking her twice (with her arrows), subjecting her to an eternal slumber (coma, death).

Now onto her name. Amber is materialized from resin that comes off of trees. Often, insects and small creatures can be found preserved inside as fossils, engaging in millions of years of hypersleep. Warm color lights (most notably Amber) also are proven to be one of the most effective light colors to help with sleep.

Amber owns a pendant on her chest with a unique design. It has an orange core, with three colored leaves sprouting from the side. These colors can pertain to the colors of Fall (her maiden power) but the actual shape of the pendant is fairly similar to a pixie, or a fairy. And the fact that there are three different feathers makes the pendant a possible nod to Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, the three fairies who helped Sleeping Beauty overcome her curse.

Maleficent, a magical figure, sends Diablo, her pet crow, to search for Sleeping Beauty while she is hiding with the fairies. In RWBY, a magical figure (Ozpin) sends his pet crow (Qrow) to search for Sleeping Beauty (Amber) while she is fighting the three bandits (Cinder, Emerald, Mercury).

And finally, the very season of Fall is the season of settlement and resting, which is the fated curse casted onto Sleeping Beauty.

Amber’s allusion has yet to be revealed, but hopefully this analysis can be useful. Thanks for reading.

Maidenbowls so far (Amber VS Cinder doesn't count, since Cinder wasn't a Maiden yet).

1) Cinder (Fall Maiden) VS Raven (Spring Maiden). Cinder wants to take her power.

Winner: Raven. Cinder loses.

2) Cinder VS Fria (Winter Maiden). Cinder tries to steal her power as well.

Winner: Fria. Cinder loses. Again. Penny gets the powers.

3) Cinder VS Penny (Winter Maiden) in her android body. Cinder is trying to take Penny's power again.

Winner: Penny. This one was actually pretty embarrassing for Cinder.

4) Cinder VS Penny again.

Winner: Cinder. However, she doesn't get the Winter Maiden powers because Penny sacrifices herself before she can take them, and gives them to Winter, who immediately flies in to fight Cinder.

5) Cinder VS Winter (Winter Maiden).

Winner: Unclear. Although it was short, it looked like Winter was actually doing good, considering the woman was being held together by duct-tape; however, Cinder killed Weiss to distract her (please get another move Cinder first it hurts second it never works she ends up coming back later) so she could keep the relics, and then they both get interrupted by Salem. Therefore, there's not a real winner, since we never saw how the fight could have ended.

Will we ever get a maidenbowl in which Cinder isn't one of the fighters? I'd liked to see Winter and Raven beating each other up as Qrow eats popcorn and watches.

Anyway, can't wait for the next one! The Summer Maiden is probably gonna be involved. Good luck!

Lian: Your? Welcome?

Amber: Oh! One more thing. I'm Amber. What's your name?

Lian: Lian Ren.

Amber: Cool. Nice to meet for the first and last time - and uh Lian?

Lian: Yes?

Amber: I'm Sorry.

Lian: *Wakes Up* Huh.

Nora: Morning Renni! What's- What's going on with you?

Lian: *Wrapped in plants* ... We need to get to Beacon sooner than later.

Lian: Headmaster Ozpin? There is something I need to discuss with you Privately.

Ozpin: And What would that be?

Lian: *Pink Flurries around her eyes*

Ozpin: That is something to speak to me about. Also, Before you punch me, Please make it a good one. It will be the only one you get.

Genuine question, since I forgot if this was ever established, but has the Summer Maiden just not have been talked about at all?

We’ve witnessed Cinder become the new Fall Maiden after she killed Amber

Raven revealed herself to be the new Spring Maiden after she found the previous one, tried to train her, but ended up killing her because she thought she was too weak

And Penny was temporarily the new Winter Maiden, but she sacrificed herself and gave the powers to Winter, since she was assigned to receive those powers originally

So, is the Summer Maiden going to be announced much later on or not? I genuinely forgot if this was ever established, so someone please tell me if this has been talked about

I honestly doubt Pyrhha could have been able to take even half maiden Cinder.

she put up a pretty good fight against a full maiden cinder & we saw that cinder as a full maiden also struggles against neo. hell we know the only reason she won against a nearly formed maiden like amber was because it was three on one & cinder was ultimately using emerald’s semblance & dirty tricks.

not to say it would be an easy slam dunk but i don’t see why pyrrha wouldn’t be able to beat cinder with only part of the maiden powers. of course this is a larger issue with the show & how the power scaling, as much as it’s loathed by the fandom to be mentioned, really ends up just making main villains like cinder look pitiful.
